The WNBA, great Midwest She'll be a rock star Three times in my life And there have been others kind of But three times that are very very memorable In my life Women's College basketball has been a consistent national story.

USC Cheryl Miller, she scored 100 points in a high school game. She could kind of dunk, I think, if I recall. I think she could dunk. Reggie Miller's her brother. She beat Reggie Miller when they were younger. So she was a national story consistently for a couple years. Gino Oriama, Yukon Dynasty, which as good as Pat Summit in Tennessee was, nothing was like them.

They won four straight, and then later four of five. Oh, there were several others. Those were just when they were really hot. They made the Patriots dynasty look spotty. Gino Oriama for about 20 years, they just dominated the sport. And then Caitlin Clark, where she's beating men's basketball ratings significantly doubling, tripling, and has even beaten a couple NBA games. So all three, Caitlin Clark, Cheryl Miller, USC, and Gino Oriama.

I mean, Yukon just got all the good players. So now I don't think the ratings will sustain next year and beyond. I think Caitlin Clark is kind of a, you know, kind of a year. unicorn, but it does illustrate the value and it's real of consistent dependable excellence. We see this in the NBA. When teams shuffle the deck in pro basketball, it does not help ratings as much as people think. People want their guys.

They want Caitlin Clark. And for three years, you show up, she delivers. It's fun. It's productive. It's consistent. People are creatures of habit. And I said this yesterday. boxing has died in my career.

Men's college basketball is in big trouble between the one and done culture and the turnstile of the transfer portal. I can't figure out who's playing for Kansas. Forget Kansas State and all the other programs. So I think it's in danger. I think Caitlin Clark illustrates people are creatures a habit. You could depend on her for the last three years,

especially the last two, to light it up, be great. She's going to go number one to Indiana. which I think is a perfect place for her, and it's been a remarkable story. And she has earned, as has Iowa basketball, all of the accolades and the attention, because it's really fun, and women's basketball is growing fast. All right, let's bring in Rick Buecker. Interesting night in the NBA. I thought it was one of the better regular season nights.

Warriors have now won seven straight road games. LeBron back-to-back wins. But I want to start with Wembe and Chet Holmgren, because Wemby is so overshadowed Chet Holmgren. And Holmgren's having a great year. But it does, when you look at the splits for Wembe in October, November, December, and Wemby now, he's stronger, he's more defiant, offensively, he's more efficient. Would you even acknowledge, and you liked him, it's a little better faster than we thought with Wemby?

Yeah, I would go along with that. But look, Colin, we're in a microwave society. We expect it to happen right away. the kid's 19 and he's not on a and I want to underscore this this is not a good San Antonio team. I mean, the biggest difference aside from the fact that Chet Holmgren had a full year to get acclimated to everything surrounding the NBA, everything about the NBA other than being in actual games, he had that head start, but he's also on a really, really good team. And Wembenyama is not. And for all that an individual,

individual player can do, it still requires to have a few guys around you that can do some things. And Victor is just finding out all the different things that he can do. I was just down in Orlando a couple weeks ago and was sitting about 10, 15 feet away from him while they played the magic. And he is just, he's a phenomenon just looking at him. And then you see him play in all the things that he can do at his size. It's been said many times before, but it has to be underscored. We've never seen anything like him before. The length and the size and the skills and the flexibility and the agility, he is going to redefine the game in the way that is played because he is going to be a matchup nightmare that the league has never seen before. You know, Rick, I said that

this. And again, in my lifetime, because I only saw Wilk briefly, but I saw seven players, only seven, the magnificent seven, come into this league. And they were not only, not just great, they were spectacular and totally unique. And the seven are Kareem in the late 60s. It's about one every decade. Into Magic, late 79, into MJ, Shaq, LeBron, Steph, and then I classify Wembe. Holmgren kind of plays like him. He's not. that. And again, I'm not counting Wilt, who probably counted as that or a Dr. J. But that to me, I like Kobe. He felt like MJ Light. I like Bird. He wasn't as dynamic as magic. I think Wemby's one of the seven players that you get once a decade. Is that hyperbolic?

No, it's not. Because what is unique and what is unique about all the guys that you mentioned and where Wembenyama fits with them is that it's a combination of a, supreme athleticism or size physical ability that is unique and superior to anything combined with a skill level that is at a superior level and that's what makes it unique and a lot people would immediately push back and say that well this shack does shack really fit into that category shack didn't have the range the jump shot range obviously but his ability to finish with either hand around the basket, his footwork, his agility for his size. I think we think of the Shaquille O'Neal at the end that was a little bit lumbering and

wasn't as mobile. But when he first came into the league, he was as mobile as any big man that we'd seen. So that to me is what distinguishes all of them. And the one guy that I would throw in the category, well, I won't put him in the category, but could have been in the category, is Bill Walton. Unique as a big, with his skills, with his size, simply couldn't stay healthy enough to make a mark. So I watched the Warriors, and I've been watching them now for a couple of weeks,

and they're very interesting. So they're either old, Clay, Steph, Dray, and Chris Paul, or they're really young, you know, Kaminga, Moody, Pods, or the young kid. Yeah, yeah, yeah, out of the second round of Indiana. Dale Davis's son, by the way. I didn't know that until recently. So this is where I, this is where I,

argue that Draymond's now really valuable because he's such a great communicator. Whenever TNT or ESPN wires him during games, he is, you know, Steph's doing his offense. Steph's doing his thing and his own leadership, but he's running the team. Draymond's a coach, and this team to bridge really old or really young needs Draymond. And since he's come back, Rick, you know the Warriors as well as anybody. They're different team. Yeah. They are, and they have size now, because between.

Sarich and the young kid out of Indiana, Comingas Long, Looney. I don't know. I look at him and I'm like, this to me is a team that could vie for the Western Conference. I know Denver's better and matches up. I know you've said that. I know. Denver's better.

Yeah. Take Denver out. Jamal Murray gets banged up. Yeah. Again, am I going crazy on the Warriors? Yeah, a little bit. You're going a little bit crazy. But Colin, look, we've known each other for a long time.

If you didn't, if you weren't going a little too far, you wouldn't be Colin Coward. So I understand. And I appreciate. And there is a window. Look, if it wasn't for the Warriors and all they've done and all they've been and how unique their system is and their unique their players are and their culture is, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. I mean, we're talking about a team that, what, is the 10th seed right now? And you have the audacity to say, you know what, they could be in the Western Conference Finals. We wouldn't talk about them, and I wouldn't tolerate it if it weren't for the fact that there is a little bit of truth there.

Now, here's the reality. Again, it goes back to the whole microwave society idea, is that we want things to happen instantly. And the biggest mistake we can make with any team in the NBA in today's game is to judge them on the first month or two, especially teams that know how to play at a championship level. It's not just that Dremont was out and back, but you're adding all sorts of new pieces. You mentioned them. Jonathan Cominguez playing a different role.

He and Steve Kerr had to work out their differences. Chris Paul joins them, and then he gets hurt. Clay Thompson, he's got to adjust to being on the bench. So they had a lot of moving parts that they had to figure out. now they are beginning to figure them out. You are right and you're more right than you know because it's not just Draymond being able to organize them defensively. He's also their playmaker offensively. He takes a lot off of Steph's plate when he's out there. The last part is you look at their team collectively. Who is the vocal leader or who steps in to be the

vocal leader if Draymond is not there. It's not staff. It's not, it's not Caminga, it's not Dario Sarich, it's not Jonathan Caminga. Like that, just that energy that he brings changes the dynamic of this team. And so you're right, there are so many intangibles that Dramon brings to the table that it's not just that he brings them and he's good at them, but they really don't have anybody else on that roster that can fill them when he's not there. So we got into this discussion J-Mack and I did yesterday is that when Yonnas, when international players come to the States, most of them, it's like when we visit Europe, you know, we stay on task, we stay on our schedule, we tip more than we would in the

States, we're very respectful of the culture, we stay focused. We're not just making stuff up, right? Get it in a car and drive. You don't really do that. When international players come here, they're more loyal. They're more mature. They're more focused. They stay on task.

They get their sleep. There's been a few. Luca came in with some toad, which I'm okay with. But when I watch Janus, he's been westernized. He came in like that. Now he's like, get the coach out. Get me dame. And it's not great.

I don't mind him doing that. He's been westernized. It's now like, okay, I see how the game works. I win a title. You're still on my butt. I got to win three. I get the game now. I get the American basketball culture. I said, if they got knocked down in the first round,

Cleveland knocks them out, whoever knocks them out, Knicks, whoever. If they get Julius Randall, you know, if they get the guys back that Knicks are dealing with injuries. Those two teams are knocking them out. All right. But my point is, if they don't win a couple playoff series in Milwaukee, Janus, so I fired the coach, I got Dame. I don't think it's crazy if he goes to the management.

and says, make a move. Dame's not getting younger. He's not better defensively. We're an old roster. I do think Milwaukee's got to get to a conference final. Or the new Yonis, he understands the game and how we judge great players. He's going to want to, I don't think it's crazy.

He'll make demands again. You think it's true? Sure. Yeah, no, I would expect that he would expect that there would be changes made. Now, how he approaches that, and whether he says, If you don't, I'm leaving, that's the rub. Because, and we've talked about it before, let's make it clear.

The reason that they did the Damien Lillard deal wasn't because they thought, well, this is the missing piece and now we're going to win a championship. It was, Janice was making noise about, I don't know if I want to stay here or not, and it doesn't make sense for me to sign an extension until next year anyway. And then they make the deal for Damien Lillard, and not only does. does he take the financial hit by signing right away, but everything is suddenly hunky dory? This is my question is he going to be accountable for the fact that the coaching change that they have to have to make because Adrian Griffin was his choice over Nick Nurse

and getting Damien Lillard and what that's done to them defensively. Is he going to be held, is he going to hold himself accountable and say, I'm the reason we are the way we are. And I have no problem with him saying, hey, You know what? Okay, so we got Damien. Coaching thing didn't work out, but we're not good enough to continue to contend. What are we going to do next? I don't have a problem with him asking for that. But I want, I don't, the last thing I want to hear is, Janice saying, hey, if we don't fix this and fix this now, then I want out of Milwaukee. Because the Milwaukee Bucks are what they are right now because of what Janice Anta Ticompo asked them to be. And, So he has been westernized. There's no question. Or he's been empowered as a player in a way that most international players when they come over, they're just grateful that they've got a team that wants to build around them, that they're vested in them. That's still unique for them. And it's certainly not the way that European teams operate, so they're not used to that. But I don't want him so westernized that he's, you either fix it or I'm going to someplace that I see as much. better. Finally, a little birdie whispered this to me last night in the NBA. Donovan Mitchell's going to be... By the way, Colin, I'm a little worried about who you're hanging out with,

especially when it comes to the NBA takes lately. I'm concerned about the influences on you, but go ahead. Donovan Mitchell will be a Nick or a Laker by this time next year. That's what I've been told. He'll be a Nick. That's... Yeah, that's not a bad call, but he would be a Nick. So here's the thing. I mean, we know that the Knicks already wanted him, right? Yeah. And he wanted to go back home to New York. So I've been hearing sort of the same rumblings in terms of him. Well, he's got another year, but if he doesn't opt in, then it's the last year.

And Cleveland doesn't want to be, they would have to make a move. The indications would be that they would move him next season or at some point going into next season if they get the indication that he's not looking to stay there long term. Here's the problem for the Lakers in wanting Donovan Mitchell, is that they've got three, as many as three future first round picks to trade for him. The Knicks have way more assets and they've already indicated that they won him and Donovan's already indicated that that's the place that he'd like to be. So if push comes to shove, then he will be a New York Nick. So I would not be surprised at all if that happened. So in this case, whatever little bird that you ran across, that was a good bird. You can go back to that bird. There's been a couple of other birds I think that you've been listening to lately. We need to run them out of town.

He feels like L.A. Donovan Mitchell maybe feels more like New York, but I do think New York needs a secondary score beyond Jalen Brunson. Donovan Mitchell, Nick's, Trey Young Lakers. Well, let's see how Randall does. Clutch sports, doesn't he? Trey Young is a clutch sports guy. Let's see how Randall does.

He's coming back soon from the injury. I know you're out. If he's a third, he's awesome. He's a third. He's a very expensive third. Let me just put this out there. Spurs fans are hot for Trey Young to join up with Victor Wenbino. The theory is we want to surround Victor with shooters.

Vassel is a good shooter. He's already playing well. Sohan, not the great shooter. But if you add Trey Young to that mix and you're able to shoot 25-footers, create space for Wemby, sounds like the Spurs are going to be big game hunting this summer, Colin. Pop doesn't love guys who sort of just freelance. You know what?

That sounds a lot like Bill Belichick running an old, from yesteryear kind of logic on the team. And you know what? You got to catch up with modern basketball. And you've got to go after free agents right now, Pop. You cannot waste these Wembe Yama years. I think there's a parallel there. I mean, Pop is older, set in his ways.

Last night gave us answers. Sneak peeks at the future of the association. J-Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. This is an interesting story in college football. So the Rules Committee is proposing the addition of coach-to-player helmet communication for the 20-24 season.

If the rule is passed, each team would have the option to use the technology with, one player on the field, communications would turn off with 15 seconds left on the play clock, or when the ball is snapped, whichever comes first. It's befuddling that this has not happened, Colin. Well, as we've said, ad nauseum, it is remarkable in an $8 billion annual industry. There's no president, CEO of college football. Forget the NCAA. This sport is too big not to have a czar.

It'd be like UFC not having Dana White, baseball not having Rob Manfred. This is a billion dollar, multi-billion dollar annual. They have no schedule maker. Everybody just does their own thing. Like college football, thank God is going to, this is what the NFL uses, is finally growing up. Stop the silly bowl games that nobody watches. Let's get two major conferences getting a majority of the playoff bids, headsets, Let's solve also the goofy overtime situation.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I was with you until you, what do you have against college football overtime? It can go four hours. So what? It doesn't. You have kids. By the way, the longer an overtime goes, the NFL's figured it out. It's punitive the following week.

Obviously. Yeah. So if you want to do the national championship play for five hours, fine. But during the regular season, having four and a half hour games and 190 plays, It's not ideal. Those are isolated incidents. But I don't think there's any overtime in sports that's as good as college football overtime.

Each team gets a ball, 25-yard line, make it happen. By the way, how exciting was the semifinal when it went overtime? That was amazing. The drama? I'm sorry, I've proposed college football overtime for the NFL. No?

It's just sticky. By the way, you take out all your special teams. So what? Seems valuable to me. Okay. You take basically... I need to see more kickoffs that go through the end zone. More commercials, please.

Like, come on. A college football, I don't know. But this headset rule, I'm with you. Like, let's make this out. Can they also throw in a two-minute warning? Like the NFL? Yeah, why not? Let's throw one of those in.

Oh, time I just told in my ear, they may do that too. That's another one. Like, why can't we have it? Yeah. There you go. Again, they're starting to turn. You're paying the players now. Let's be like NFL light.

Obviously, kids got to go to school. It won't be the NFL. But, I mean, to me, what makes the NFL, what is so great for the NFL, is that their minor league system prepares players, not some goofy G-League or overseas, three to four years of hard coaching elite college football in big games, big crowds, big intensity against other elite NFL bodies. you go to the NFL and you can play immediately. So are you saying we're there or we're headed there? We're headed there. In two years, my take is I would just give 14 team playoff, 12 or 14.

I would give 75 to 80% of the bids to the SEC and the big 10. You're going to have a Clemson you're going to put in. There's going to be somebody else Utah is going to make it through this or that. That's fine. But let's stop playing the charade where Mercer ever gets to play Alabama and were jamming teams into a playoff who can't compete at the highest levels. Stop the charade. Yeah.

The big boys pay the bills anyway. The problem is the college football, those guys who sit in a room, the playoff committee, there's like 80-year-old guys who have been around forever. They're frat boys from whatever school they went to. They think college football. We're bigger. We don't need the NFL. No, I don't think so.

Did you notice what the committee did this year? They finally put in the four best teams. Okay. They did not put in Florida State because they had a good regular seat. Lost their quarterback. They got blown out. It was grown-ups finally. You say that, but now there's like congressional hearings in Florida about Florida.

We're going to come out of college football. Florida State is irrelevant. There's too many egos in college football right now. Like you said, we need a head. I don't know who. Well, you know what? When you have a leadership void, somebody takes over. And you know who's taking over finally?

and you can complain all you want, Fox and the ESPN. We have grownups. We know how this game works. So you can't figure your leadership out. You've become boxing. You're silly. So Fox and ESPN presidents can go in and say, why don't we take this over since you've proven you can't figure it out

and you want the holiday bowl, we want a playoff. And that to me, it would be different if there was a great president of college football that could organize it. If you have a Dana White, I don't need to step in. He runs it. Boxing doesn't. So it's a circus with promoters running the sport. College football, if you're not going to hire a president,

now if you did, it'd be different. I wouldn't want the networks to have the poll. But if you're not, then have the network step in, work together, NBC, ABC, Fox, ESPN, have the network step in, CBS and figure this thing out. Well, Colin, how can we get rid of the bowl games? They're the essence of college football. These are the people who were clinging to like 30 years ago

when bull games mattered, and the sport was different. and there wasn't this much money. And January 1st, you remember what January 1st was like? It's like seven bowl games in the day, overlapping. It was a great day. It was amazing. In like 1987, that's for the time. For a day.

It doesn't work now. That model does not work. Like, they just need to move on. Next up, Jaden Daniels is in line to be one of the top Cubies off the board of the draft this year. Interesting, we didn't talk about him as a top draft pick all season. But now, in the silly season, Jayden Daniels, look out, world. The first overall pick is going to be Caleb Williams, but Daniel says he just wants to go to the best place for him.

I just want to go to the best situation. It's as the first pick if that's the 32nd pick. You know, I'm just blessed overall just to be here. No matter where I hear my name, I'll be happy. Being viewed as the number one overall player for that draft, the number of overall pick, there's some significance to it, but, you know, it doesn't hold a lot of weight for me. Boy, I like that.

He's exactly right. He's good. The situation's the key. Not where you're pick. If you're too caught up and being number one, if that's your thing, you got your priorities wrong. I would, as a quarterback, you make all your money in your second, third, and fourth contract, not your first.

I'd rather go 15th and get a Sean Payton or whoever. I'd rather go get a legitimate offensive coach than I would. Hey, I got the number two pick. What if it's a crappy franchise? Well, there's a lot. There's a lot of them. There's a lot of them. There's always drafting up top.

There's no way Daniels is dropping a 15. I'll just say, when you watched him this season, And Caleb falls into this too. As soon as the first or second read's taken away, he's tucking and running. Yes. That doesn't work in the NFL. I agree. It works for a small sample size.

We've seen Justin Fields. Anthony Rich, you've got to stay in the pocket and win from the pocket. And I don't know if Daniels is ready to do that. And by the way, hit frame, he's a little RG3 like. One or two hits, he's getting folded off. I'm going to make the argument that the two most dependable quarterback prospects that will be in the league in seven, eight years in winning, are Caleb Williams and Bonex.

No Drake May. Depends on where he lands. He needs refinement and consistency, and if he goes to a defensive coach, he may not get it. He may, but he may not. You want hot takes? Yeah. Caleb Williams needs more refinement than Drake May. Caleb Williams played backyard football all season at USC Collins.

Now, we can argue about the team. He's an incredibly accurate thrower. Drake May is hit and miss. Caleb is a very accurate distributor of the book. I think Caleb more upside, but I'm just telling you, he's got a lot of... Yes, the Mahom stuff is there, but Colin, when the play's breaking down and he's just scrambling for his life, like, I didn't love that. You have to admit, that Notre Dame game, you put that tape on your... Well, that was his worst game as a collegian.

Does he get one? Sure, we'll toss that game out. John Elway had a few stinkers. I mean, you get one. A couple. John Elway won seven games, I think, is last year at Stanford. Patrick Mahomes, I don't think, did Patrick Mulhomes ever win eight games in Texas? It's okay.

Josh Allen had horrible college games. Yeah, more than more. Caleb Williams, on 90% of his college games, he was spectacular. And what I've argued is you think USC has all this talent. He had one elite teammate in two years and led the nation in offense back-to-back years. And this was the best the best the Pac-12 has been in forever. Facts. I mean, the days when USC was dominating the conference, frankly, it was awful.

I mean, literally Cal was the second mess program. It was bad. So this Pack 12 to dominate it offensively is something, and they had one player, Jordan Addison, who's a tremendous NFL ascending, receiving talent. That's it. It's a bunch of fifth round guys are undrafted guys. The final story, Colin, we are going to officially make this the Bo Nicks show.

Bow Nicks quarterback. One of the most experienced prospects the draft has ever had. He played 61 games at Auburn and Oregon during his college career. He said he thinks his experience is one of the most valuable traits and will give him the edge at the next level. So Bo Nix says my experience. J.J. McCarthy says my winning, it's almost like these guys are running for president of a high school class, and they're like selling themselves to teams. Now, I didn't say Caleb and Bo Nix are the most talented, although I think Caleb is.

I said, if you're asking me, who's going to be around starting in the NFL in like seven years? I would say Caleb and Bo Nix will still be starting. And that's about the average. If you get five drafted in the first round, two are going to stick. One's a bust and two others flame out. That's the average with five quarterbacks. Two hit, one flails, two others bounce around. I would argue it would be awesome if some of these quarterbacks fell to the second round.

Less pressure, you go to a good team, good franchise. I'll tell you right now, Bo Nix goes to, let's see he goes to Atlanta. What's his shelf like there? Is he succeeding? Bo Nix? Yes. In that system? Atlanta?

Yes, absolutely. You sure? Absolutely. Weak division. Excellent offensive line. He's played in the South, so he's comfortable there. Really nice young weapons. Bo Nix absolutely succeeds in Atlanta.

Absolutely. Boy, what are you talking about Bo Nix? I'm not saying the ceiling's time. I'm saying succeeding. Okay. Will he have a better career than Brock Bird? Well, that's That's tough because Brock Purdy is insane.

One guy literally got the keys to a Mercedes. Hey, just don't hit a tree. And he hasn't hit a tree. He hasn't got a speeding ticket. He hasn't run a red light. He's been freaking flawless. All right. Me, Brock Purdy, you bow next.

Next ten years. We'll just match that. Assuming I, you keep me as a host for the next ten years. Okay. I got Purdy. Okay, starting next year. I'm not giving you the last two. Oh, the first two years.

No, because eventually he's going to have to get paid more than a nickel. And Bo Nix is going to come in with a first round salary, so he's getting real money. So starting, how about we start Thanksgiving? So you give Bo Nix like eight starts, and you get Brock Purdy through another year closer to having to like make money. Starting Thanksgiving of this year, Bo Nix Brock Purdy, I'll take Bo NIC. Okay, hold on. What if he's with the Raiders? Does that better play? There's no qualifiers. I have that much confidence. I like him, but...

Ryan, that's fair, is that Purdy would then be in year three, and at Thanksgiving, they have to make a decision to pay him pretty quickly. And Bo Nix gets at least eight starts after 61 college starts. To be ready, you've got to give him eight starts to ramp up.

So starting at Thanksgiving, that point forward, let's go 10 years. You know, I'll be out of the business. That's ridiculous. We're eliminating his first 35 pro starts. That's not fair when you don't make anything and go into a stacked deck. That's not fair. What if Bo Nix went to San Francisco? Hold up, hold up.

Stack deck. He was third on the depth chart when he got to the Niners. No? Trey Lance didn't work. Garoppolo. Couldn't stay healthy. Not much of a stacked deck. Pretty quickly Garapolo's hurt and expensive.

And Trey didn't play up to expectations. You know what this comes back to? What? When you told me you've got to stop rooting for the Jets and fight a new team? I was like, yeah, Niners, good story. So remember during the regular season of the NFL, the chiefs were just kind of trying to figure stuff out, scoring 17 a game, the defense was really good, but they were just kind of trying to figure out the offense, and then it sort of clicked in these big spots. And, you know, then Super Bowls, they get two weeks to prepare. And what do you know, their offense looks better and better? And so I think, you know, there's so much people want you to be great now. I always laugh.

Whenever there's a new TV show created or there's on a sports network or a non-sports network or there's a new this or a new that, people are so ridiculous. Like media critics are like demanding your good initially. It takes a long time to let stuff and new people bake. I mean, in the NBA, Jonathan Cumminga came into the league at a high school, and it was like, oh, I remember telling my buddies who were Warrior fans, I'm like, that kid is really going to be different. He was 18. I think they sent him to a G League, but he was on the Warriors roster pretty quick, and now he's, I think he just turned 20, 21. Now you're like, whoa, whoa, it's like, it takes people, shows, producers, coaches, players, it just takes people.

people time to do things. And I think what the Lakers are doing this year is a little bit like the chiefs. They're just trying to get through the regular season. They know they're not built for it. They got LeBron is older. AD has an injury history. They're just trying to get into the playoffs. And then that's why they took the in-season tournament seriously. They're like, oh, no, no, in like a sudden death tournament where the wins matter, oh, we can play with anybody. And they won it. You guys laugh at the banner, but it did feel like it mattered. We can go toe to toe if we have to win a game. And so AD talked about that last night.

They just want to get to the postseason. Obviously, we're trying to call on. It's going to take a lot more winning than losing to get where to what we want to be. You know, we're in the race right there. I'm not sure what happened tonight around the league. but we are continuously just trying to get better working ourselves and get healthy, you know, get some of our guys back and, you know, while doing that, staying in the fight, staying in the hunt. It is a lot like the Chiefs. If you recall last year in March and April, they were 14 and 6, and that was the best record in the league, Lakers last year, and they won 9 to final 11 regular season games last season.

So last year the Lakers are prime example. They're just older guys trying to get through the regular season. you get about three weeks left, you get about 20 games left, and all of a sudden the Lakers last year, click, turned it on. This is a really good team. They're not a championship team to me, because DeAngelo Russell does not give you consistently 20. So you have to lean on Austin Reeves to be your three.

Well, if Gordon and Michael Porter are trying to be a three for Denver and Drew Holliday and Porzingis are battling to be a three for the Celtics, then Austin Reeves can't be your three. three. He's got to be your four. He's not poor Zingis. He doesn't have that kind of size and unicorn body. Drew Holliday's got so many great playoff games in the bank.

Aaron, Gordon in Denver is one of the best defenders in the league. Athletically, body length, is one of the rare unique bodies in the league. Porter was a number one high school player. Austin Reeves a good player. To win a title, he's got to be a four. That's why I keep saying, Dilo is the key, and I

just don't trust him in the playoffs. But what the Lakers are doing is what really good teams do. You can absolutely flip a switch. We saw the Chiefs do it. We saw last year the Lakers do it. You're seeing the Warriors, by the way now, post-deadline, Draymond's

back. They're playing on the road. Remember how bad the Warriors were in the road last year when they had the Jordan Pool, Draymond stuff? They were the worst road team outside of Houston in the league. Now they're the best road team. Why? Again, it's maturity, pulls out the door, Draymond's back.

All the teams now are starting to tighten up. So these NBA games going forward, like I thought last night, this is the real NBA. This going forward is when the Lakers, these games, Lakers have a big TV game this weekend. Last night when you watched

the Knicks were outmanned a little bit. But Wiggins didn't play for the Warriors, but you could tell from the intensity last night, that felt like the game mattered between the Warriors and Knicks. Let me ask you this. I've been beating the you don't want to be in the play-in. You don't want to be facing maybe the Suns. Warriors,

will not be in the play. Matt, here's the problem. If you get the sixth seed, you're right out of the playing. You face Denver in the first round. Would you rather be in the play-in and then face OKC or Minnesota? Oh, yeah. So you want to be in the play. I didn't realize that.

Because right now, Denver's third. And they're probably going to rest guys a little bit to get that third seed. I don't think they care about chasing the number one. Colin, you want to be in the playing. Because I like my chance against Minnesota or OKC. I don't want to face Denver in the first round. The sixth seed is screwed. So the Lakers next two games, Saturday night Nuggets, that'll be a TV day.

Is that here? I think it's Denver. I think. And then Monday against the Thunder. Though those are going to feel like playoff. Well, are they both here? Oh, they are both in L.A. Try to get tickets. Come on.

That's not bad. So Saturday and Monday, Nuggets Thunder both in L.A. Those will feel like playoff. And you should watch those games as if they're playoff games. Because this stuff matters. Seating matters. By the way, D.L.O., my staff just said this. he's all over the map in the playoffs.

He had five games last year in the playoffs, but he scored under 10 points. And that's the problem with this team. They don't have a consistent three. So the counter is, hey, we get it. We don't have a consistent three. If we can get a Rui Hachimura game, a Cam Reddish game,

I'm just saying a one-off where that guy shows up for 25 points as Rui had against the Grizz, and Austin Reeves is a little consistent, then it's okay for Dilo to not be consistent. We just got to make sure, like Cam Reddish has a game or, you know, one of these guys off the bench. Lonnie Walker.

You're crossing your fingers against Denver because they don't cross fingers there. I mean, listen, if Yokic is healthy and Murray's healthy, keep an eye on the Murray's shin splints issue, man. He's not 100%. You're crossing fingers. I'll take Yokic. Yeah, okay, great. If Ruey, if Cam Reddish, no, Yokch will deliver 30, 14 and 60.
