Patty's Day. No, my wife's Irish. I already got the dogs dressed up at home the green stuff? How cute. Yeah, I completely forgot to wear green. I wore green to work. And then, I don't know.

I was just getting ready. Stylused. You know? Yeah, my stylist. My stylist forgot to tell me to wear green. They took care of you, though, see? Yeah, look at that. Boom.

You got your green on. Were you in your younger days, were you a big St. Patty's Day guy? I'm not a big Guinness drinker, although I love a good beer. It would take me four days to finish the Guinness. You know, there's never been an Irish bar that's failed. America. That is my theory that if every Irish bar, because for whatever reasons, I've never gone into an Irish bar and said, there's nobody here. They all work. Yeah. Dry cleaners,

donut shops and Irish bars. None fail. Well, I think because you know exactly what you're going to get. You sure do. A good time. Certain things, certain institutions like that. They don't even have good food. Irish bars don't even have good food. I disagree with that. Some of some good food. You ever known anybody that said, I'm going to go to Ireland. Why? for the food. Scotland's worse, but... Pittsburgh's a big St. Patty's Day. Oh, it should be.

Chicago. And Chicago's got the Green River. Oh, Chicago's great. All right. So you know and I know that you want some parody in sports. College football actually in the last couple years has had a pretty cool thing happened. The Miami Hurricanes got a great coach.

USC got a great coach. And Texas Sark got a really good coach. The sport needs those three. They're glamorous, they're coastal, two of the three. College football is too southern. It's hurting the ratings. You don't want that. You want some parity, right?

NBA, the Western Conference has been better than the Eastern Conference. If you take out LeBron, just take out one person in the last 20 years, it's a slam dunk. The West is always better. It's not good for the sport. In baseball, there's the Dodgers payroll, apparently, and everybody else's. They've become the Yankees of like the 90s. The Dodgers just go by great players. You want parity.

And so we got into this discussion yesterday about how there's this perception that the AFC has all the great young quarterbacks and the NFC's a mess. But it looks like, according to a story this morning, Deshaun Watson is down to the Saints or Atlanta. And I think this is important. He's going to end up being an NFC quarterback. I think it's really, really important. There's nothing against Cleveland because they'll get somebody else. But we were talking about this morning, the narrative.

The narrative is the AFC's got all the quarterbacks and the NFC's in big trouble. So let's put quarterbacks into two groups. Unique talents, like God didn't make many of those. And then guys that I would pay as a franchise quarterback good enough to win a playoff game. Guys that, you know, Baker Mayfield could win a playoff game. He's not my cup of tea as a franchise quarterback, right? Tribisky could potentially win one. I wouldn't pay him a ton.

So if you really break it down to those two categories, and there's a lot of young quarterbacks unique talents. Again, Mahomes, Josh Allen, Burrow Lamar, Herbert Russell, and the AFC. They're just different. They do something or multiple things you just don't see. But the NFC's got five, AFC, six, Aaron Rogers, Brady, Stafford, Kyler, Deshawn now. And then guys I would be willing to pay pretty good money for. Now, I like Derek Carr better than the rest of these four, but Derek Carr, Tannahill could win a playoff game and I'd pay him to be a franchise quarterback AFC. And then Dak and Kirk Cousins. I've always said,

Dak's a more popular version of Kirk Cousins. I like Dak more than Kirk because he can move better. Their numbers are kind of similar. It's pretty. And I did not put Carson Wentz in there because Joy does not like Carson Wentz. And I like Carson Wentz more than everybody else in America other than the Wentz family. So I'm a Wentz guy. I think he's really talented.

You guys don't like him. So I didn't put Wentz in there. But I think it's closer. Now, now, now, who's got more great young quarterbacks? AFC. But we don't care about age. We don't, I'm not, when Matt Stafford wins a Super Bowl, I'm not going, well, he is, he is in his 30s.

I just want to win Super Bowls. Yeah, and Tom Brady is kind of a race-the-age thing anyway. Yeah, I mean. It doesn't matter. I think Carson could be in that, could win a playoff game category. So I was going to do that because you can't stand him. You're exaggerating. I just don't think he's as good as he's talked about.

I think he gets a longer runway because if, who he is. I think you're... He's on his third team. And you for being a guy that's a big locker room leadership guy. I am. It's two teams now that it's been a little messy on the way out as well. A little leadership conversation, getting along with coaches.

I cannot deny any of that. Hey, sometimes like Westbrook, it's hard to look in the mirror. I'm struggling to look at the... You have these guys that get their hooks in you. I know. I gave up Donald. I gave it up. It took a while.

Kick the Darnold habit. You had to rip it out. Wentz, I'm picking them to win the division. I am. I don't know. I mean, it's not outrageous. He's certainly talented enough to do that. All right, let's go to Thomas Dimitrov. When he was the Falcons GM, they made a Super Bowl.

They won the division title six times, or three times, and he got to the playoffs six times. So I'm bringing him on because he's going to be back getting a job here pretty quick and just not hanging out and golfing and working on his putting. So let's go. By the way, that's a nice looking office. That is well appointed. So I'm not even going to get into that. It's very nice.

Thank you so much. Okay. I appreciate that. What would you do? Now, I've always had a theory, Thomas. Stuff gets out when somebody wants it out. If you've had secrets when you were a GM, if you didn't want it out, it didn't get out. Stuff gets out because somebody wants it out.

And I think Cleveland has got no problem this stuff getting out. We want an adult in the room. We're looking around. Now, whether it's a message to Baker to grow up or it's, hey, Baker's agent, we're not bluffing. They want it out. So now that it's all out there, what do you do in Cleveland? Do you go get Garoppolo? What do you do?

I think you have to consider Garoppolo, of course. But I've been going round and round about this, Colin, and I start thinking about the idea of you kind of know what you know about, you know, Baker and where he is. And there's a side of me that thinks, let's give the one-year deal here. Let's work on it. Let's get a guy to wait in the wings here.

It's not an overly strong draft class, as we know. And that's no disrespect, but it's a reality to have someone that you know can do certain things. He can win games. He's got special abilities to him. Just sit down, work through a one-year contract and focus on trying to get a guy waiting in the wings. That's a big thing for me right now. Yeah, Baker's numbers pre-injury were pretty good. By the way, still a very good roster.

They brought in Amari Cooper. This is a top 8-10 roster in the league. It is a tough division, but I will still defend this O-line, the running backs. the tight ends, Miles Garrett, there's players here. So now I look at the, I look at the, I looked at the Tutt in the Air Day. The last six years, Thomas, the biggest spenders in free agency have improved by an average of five wins. So you can go buy wins in this league. I think Jacksonville's overpaid for everybody, but you can buy wins.

I love what Pittsburgh's done. Rebuilt Interior O-Line, Miles Jack, total grown-up, knows the league. and I think Trebisky is athletic and cheap. The cap is very flexible with Mitch Trubisky. I really like what Pittsburgh's done. Tell me a couple of two or three themes. You kind of like what they've done. Well, look, I mean, I agree with you on Pittsburgh.

I've always liked how they have approached things. They're very well thought out. Of course, Kevin is still in charge there through the draft and free agency. I think that's going to be really important. I'm talking Kevin Colbert. Look, I have to admit, and they've taken a ton of heat, as you know, and so has Trent Balke over the year. The fact that they were able to sit back, throw all of that aside,

that takes a lot of courage and a lot of confidence on Trent Balkey's side and the Jaguar side to go after it, make things, you know, take care of business. It's a heavy spending thing. I get it. But they know that they're on the edge of it all, and they need to make it happen now. And of course, Shod Khan's not going to have patience.

He wants to win now, and he wants to bring that fan base back. I think they had to do what they're doing there. I think that was a very good move for them. And again, I like where they are in free agency right now. Are you shocked Seattle moved off Russell Wilson? And whether or not they had a plan, it's not working. I mean, could you have literally moved a franchise quarterback arguably late in his prime? Okay, so I look at that and I think, you know, we all know John Schneider.

John is well thought out. So is Pete Carroll. They're going to keep the guys around that they know are truly going to help them win. It doesn't matter. they're very good about dealing with personalities and distractions. That's what they do. And I think it got to a point where they realized it's time. Let's cash in while we can.

You know, we know what happened in Denver. I mean, they've been needing a quarterback for a long time. That was a big move. Look, I think it's really good for Denver to have a quarterback in there. I think Russell leaving Seattle was the right thing for them. And, you know, I was talking to someone today about this. Here's George Payton. and the parallel back with Julio Jones, a big move that you're going to be associated with for the rest of your career.

He knows his team. He's a very good personnel man, and he knows that team needs a quarterback. I think they did the right thing there. I hope hopefully Russell Wilson can return to what he needs to return to without the distractions that he had up in Seattle. Yeah, I mean, free agency is funny. I always, I talked to Greg Olson yesterday about this. You're bringing in sometimes you have a locker room, the chemistry is good, Now you bring in three high-priced guys, and everybody looks around the room and thinks,

why are you paying them all the money and not us? Did you worry about, I mean, I've seen it go sideways. Did you ever worry about free agency? Oh, there's no question we did. We looked at everything. We looked at how it would affect the coaches, how our coaches personally would be able to deal with the free agents that we might bring in in their room. That is a big thing. You can make or break a free agent.

If you come off, you know, the beginning of the season at loggerheads between your coach and your new free agent, that can be a mess. So I think it's really important to look at, be very well thought out about it. In the end, when you're paying money, I think in today's world, these guys realize that, hey, whoever's time it is to get the money, they get the money. And I saw it with Julio Jones. There were players, of course, who didn't want him to make the money he made. But once he did, they realized he was one of the very best in the league and that he should be paid.

Vaughn Miller, that is a big contract for a guy that's going to be 33. What was the message there? What did you make of that move by Buffalo? I think Buffalo is in a really good spot. I think they know they're making that move to potentially move past New England as the team in that area and that division. And I think that's really important for them. I think they just continue to put the pieces together. I think Bond still has time left.

We see it. Of course, it's a big time move with a lot of money. I don't question Brandon Bean's moves, man. And he is a guy who has really dialed in from a financial standpoint. And I think, again, with what's available in today's world, the analytics, and what might be compared out there through all of the information that we have, I think they really believe they can get two more years out of this guy and he can produce high. Now, this is interesting.

Kyle Pitts, you and I, I think you and I agreed. I would have drafted Kyle Pitts and stayed with Matt because I don't think Kyle Pitts is often on the market. Kyle Pitts, who had a great rookie year, just tweeted, it's about to get scary in Atlanta. That sounds like that has, I don't know if Matt Ryan got abs this off. I don't even know what he's inferring to it. It must be to Sean Watson, right? It must be.

He lives about two streets away from me. I need to like drive by there, get on my bike and see if he's out, mess it around, doing whatever he's doing. But no, look, I think it will be really interesting. You're right in a sense. I did say last year that I really thought Matt could continue to, to play well, get the right supporting cast around him, that he still had Super Bowl ability.

I also said, unfortunately or fortunately, that I thought that they should have, as much as Pitts was who he was, I thought they should have had a quarterback that they needed to draft for the future as well, only because I knew what this year's draft class was going to be, and I knew there was going to be a limitation on the free agency side. This city, the Falcons, I think they continue to need to build.

And I think what better place to build around a guy when you have a guy like Matt around. This was last year when you're talking collegiately, completely different story when you're bringing in another big time free agent. Let me ask you this. You know Matt Ryan very, very well. He's wound pretty tight, right? He's a very proud guy.

How's he going to take this news? Now, I talked to Matt over the years anytime there were ever rumblings about, you know, someone else coming in and the fan base getting down on him. Matt is a tough guy mentally and physically. He is wound tight, but he is the most competitive guy, one of the most, along with Tom Brady, of course, that I've been around. I mean, Matt's going to compete to the very end, and he's not a guy that's going to be salking at all. He may be pissed off, quite honestly, throw a few F-bombs around.

Not that I'll start talking about sharing with what he would say, but that is him. I think he'll take it head on. Wow. All right, Kyle Pitt's saying it's about to get scary in Atlanta. Thomas Dimitrov, six playoff appearances, three NFC South titles. Great seeing you as always. As always, I appreciate you having me on. Thomas Dimitroff.

former GM of the Falcons. Yeah, I mean, I, I, we said this. If I was him, it would be hard not to go home. Atlanta is a, it's, it's basically L.A. of the South. It is production studios, major corporations. It's just a really dynamic city. Nothing against New Orleans or Carolina or Cleveland. Atlanta's a totally, there's like four or five cities in this country that are just exploding.

Atlanta's one of them, L.A. It's just to me I would go to Atlanta knowing that I just lost Russell Gage who I think is one of the most underrated young receivers in the game. But this is a long-term play

for Deshawn Watson. This isn't like a Matthew Stafford or a Tom Brady or even a Russell Wilson who we think has a lot long future. Deshaun Watson is a young quarterback still. He is planning on being there for a long time. So it's not a situation where like Brady where he needs to leave and immediately be productive, 26 years old.

Okay, so you got 10 years old. And as Kevin said, Kevin Clark said, there's going to be a suspension. So there's going to be time away even when he does get to the team. So it's not like they need to be perfect this year in order for him to choose to go there. Like what's the long term plan in Atlanta? What are they building on? Who are they planning on bringing in? Who are they drafting?

Things like that. Kyle Pitts just deleted his tweet. But it's out there. So the tweet was it's going to get scary. That's Deshawn Watson. So now to Deshawn, someone probably said, hey, get off that. You can't do that.

Well, I, you know, the funny thing is Seattle's defense has been a mess for four years. Three of the four, they got into the playoffs. If you have the quarterback right, you can just make everything else work. I mean, they have a good owner, offensive coach. Right.

Listen. They've been to the Super Bowl recently. It's not like they're a dysfunctional organization. You get the quarterback right. All you have to do is hit a couple of draft picks. I mean, first of all, Atlanta's going to go get wide receivers on the draft. It is once again a great wide receiver draft. By the way, Ryan, let's look up draft picks for Atlanta.

Now, to get him, they'll probably have to give up a first this year and a first, which you're going to do. But you're also, you know, if Atlanta says, okay, give us a third. We'll give you three firsts. So they have the eighth pick in this draft. Houston will obviously get that. They'll get that, yeah. But Deshaun Watson's worth, in a bad first round draft, he's worth the eighth pick in the next two drafts.

But any of the surviving teams who are in this conversation are going to have to give up assets to get Deshawn Watson. Also, Deshaun has a no trade clause. Right. So Deshaun can say to Houston, like, this is what Russell did. He looked at 14 teams and said, I want Denver. So Seattle, people said Seattle should have gotten more. Seattle, if they wanted him out, Denver was where Russell chose.

So Deshaun can go to them and say, I already crossed out Cleveland. I'm not going to Carolina. I don't want to go to New Orleans. So they don't necessarily get the best deal. If Deshawn says, that's where I want to go. So they have eight picks in the draft. You might as well take away one down to seven. Oh, oh, here you go.

Kyle Pitts and Deshawn Watson have the same agent. Yeah, that's so he'll, Deshawn Watson appears to be headed to the Falcons. That feels like a solid prediction right now. I do not have it sourced, but Twitter suddenly became a source. And when you erase it, then that's almost like a second source. Here it is. Let me take it off. Somebody was on the phone with him. Well, we are getting some fallout from the Russell Wilson Broncos Seahawks trade. And Seahawks Brass released statements after the trade became official. Owner Jody Allen said, while Russell made it clear he wanted this change, he made Seattle proud and we are grateful for his decade of leadership on and off the field. Pete Carroll, as Jody stated, it's very per my last email, Russ's desire in doing something different afford the organization and opportunity competes in multiple ways. And then GM John Snyder said when it became evidence that Russell was interested in playing

elsewhere, we use that opportunity to explore the markets. Russell Wilson has a different view of how things went down. Here he is at his press conference in Denver yesterday. Then it was a time for change, and when did that feeling really start for you? Yeah, I did initiate it. It was definitely mutual among the way. There's definitely been a lot of conversations. It hasn't been I initiated anything.

But it is what it is. I'm happy to be here. That's all I know. Obviously, I'm happy about the 10 years I've had. But I think that, you know, it's, you know, we'll have to read about it later. We'll have some fun maybe in my book one day. He said, along the way. So that tells you they have battled for years.

He has not been happy for years, which is what I've been told. I started getting on this about two, three years ago. You did? Yeah. So the key there is along the way. This was not, this is a three-year Hornets nest of him getting hit too much. They can't rebuild the O-line. He's frustrated with the offense.

Remember, let Russ cook, right? That was his thing. Like, can I do something here? Can I go? Right. Well, Russ is very, he's very presidential. Very quarterback. He is going to say things with a smile as he was there. You know, even though what he's saying could initiate some animosity.

He's saying it's smiling. We'll talk about it in a book someday. It's not for right now. Right. Have it to be where I am. And Russ is smart like that. I don't think that we're getting the full story right now. And we shouldn't.

I don't need the full story right now. He's right. This is for later on. Maybe when Pete Carroll's retired or they're both moved on, then you can find out what the T is. I'm sure there's plenty of stories that we haven't heard from New England with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick that we'll get eventually. Tom Brady has a production company. He'll do a documentary series on it and let us all know what really happens. We don't need to know that right now.

but the bigger picture with Seattle and Denver is what I had been saying all along. And that's really why it's interesting how this breakup happened. Because I've always said I'm not letting go of Russell Wilson unless he makes me. And also, you would have to have a plan to replace him. Right. They don't. So I think Russell's been unhappy for a while, which is why he kind of made a little bit of a push, a little nudge at the beginning of the season last year, talking about the teams he would go to.

and they obviously wanted to keep him because why wouldn't you? I mean, look at where Seattle is right now. So as frustrated as they might be with the situation, this is why I think mobility is so important. And I know it's frustrating for fans, but I think this is valuable. When quarterbacks are able to move, not only does it make it interesting for the league

and it's fun for us and can turn a whole organization around overnight, like Tampa Bay, it also keeps pressure on the organization to stay competitive and keep building. You can't just rest on the fact that you have Russell Wilson. You can't just rest on the fact that you have Tom Brady. The one thing that would have worked for Seattle, but Pittsburgh was more organized. If you look at Russell's style, you could have had Mitch Trubisky. Now, he's not Russell.

Very similar athletically, they really are almost arguably better moving. You could have saved 30 million bucks a year and literally 15 million cap space. had Seattle moved off Russell and the whole Denver thing and the next day said we got Tribisky then to me that was like, okay, you've been thinking about this now for six months. Right.

You can't, and then you can use Drew Locke, who is athletic, he's your backup. You're not paying him anything. But the fact that you don't have a one, Drew Locke's a backup. Let's get over it. Yes. So there are ways this could have worked.

Like if I was Seattle, we need to sometimes have, we have to say what we would do, right? Like, it's easy for me to just criticize. If I would have enforced, to move Russ to Denver. Okay, I take Noah Fant. I take the defensive lineman, Harris, they're both starters.

I get my picks. I would have just gotten Trubisky in and said now, because the Seahawks did sign a charger linebacker today, who I love. They had to move off because Cleo Mac signing. So then I would spend, then I would go get three free agents, and I would rebuild that damn defense very quickly for Pete.

But you have a bridge guy that's been a starter. Absolutely. It's a good locker room guy, and now it's not full panic. The sky is falling. You are literally a four-win team today. Trabisky, you can absolutely, even in that division. You go in a lot of games with a rebuild defense in Trabisky. Right.

Absolutely. But you got to stay afloat. So according to multiple reports, the Browns have been informed. They are not in the running anymore for Deshawn Watson. He is not considering them. The remaining teams that Watson has met with are the Falcons, which, according to, A recently deleted tweet from Kyle Pitts might be the place that is leaning to. Kyle Pitts is the worst BSer in the world.

We're going to show something in a second. He's a bad liar. The Panthers and the Saints. And, well, yeah, so Kyle Pitts tweeted out. Do you want me to wait for it? Do you want to do it out? No, let's show it because there's a key to the tweet. Okay.

It's about to get scary in Atlanta. Okay. Look at the emoji. Yeah, the emoji is the smiley face, but the zipper is the mouth. That's the key to this tweet because he's now said he deleted it and has clarified it saying, I was just happy with the falcons signing Casey Hayward. If that's true, then why that was public? Why would you go with a zipper?

He's a bad liar. Well, yeah. I mean, look, we know what it is. We know what's going on here. He just, you know, he got excited and went to Twitter. Sometimes people do. And you can't do that. But it's looking like Deshaun is leaning towards Atlanta.

I'm sure we'll find out very soon. Pete says Deshaun have the same agent. Yeah, exactly. But in Cleveland's, what are they going to do now? Because they very publicly met with Deshawn Watson. They're very obviously trying to move on from Baker Mayfield. A report from Chris Mortensen said the Browns and Baker Mayfield are breaking up because the Browns want an adult at quarterback. Now, Mike Garifalo said that the Browns told Mayfield's agent at the Combine.

They'd only explore top tier quarterbacks such as Watson. So they might be bringing it back. They did pick up his fifth year option. Yeah. $18 million cap, basically $19 million. cap hit. But the bigger takeaway for me from this whole Browns, Deshawn Watson, Baker-Mayfield thing

is there's a lesson here. I would have been a disaster if you gave me millions and millions of dollars at the age of 21, 22 years old. Yeah. I did not have my stuff together. Wouldn't have been, barely have my stuff together now. But you're right. When you're a quarterback,

there are certain expectations, whether fair or unfair, and I don't know that I don't really get into fair. Like you are giving, given the face of the organization. The fair game's over. You get all of the, the number one person for the endorsements. Weekly podium. Your weekly podium.

You represent the team. You're on all the posters and billboards around town. You're the guy. So if that's the position that you want to play, if you want to play quarterback, and you're good enough to make it into the NFL and be a franchise quarterback, you have to understand from a very young age the responsibilities that come with that. If you get to be a pilot for Delta, you don't get a drink the day before you fly.

No. Now, there's no law that says you can't. But Delta's got rules. It's like the day before you fly, do not be seen enjoying cocktails. That's the grown-up position to be a pilot for the America's best airline. No drink in the day before. With great power comes great responsibility. Franchise quarterbacks, you've got to be grown up at 22.

And that's unrealistic for me. most people. That's right. It's been unrealistic for me. Same here. But I was also not good enough to be a franchise quarterback in the NFL. And we know what it is now. Like we have enough evidence of what is required and expected of you.

You know why? Because most 22-year-old frat boys aren't mature. So they're like, oh, I can't Johnny Mandel have fun because most of you're not mature to get it. So the reality is when you're a franchise quarterback, I've had a conversation like this with a dozen NFL executives. It is New England. took Mansell off their board.

Like he's not a grown-up. So like it matters a lot to people who are hiring and drafting. As it should. You're being given the keys to a billion-dollar organization as a very young person. The media deserves criticism

because when I banged on Baker, all I heard from media was you're too rough. No, I was right. When I banged on Manzell, Cam, I got a lot of, I was right. But I also. think if you are a person like that

going to a place that's already dysfunctional. It's impossible. That has a history of firing coaches, which they did again throughout Baker's tenure there, who can't stabilize anything, it's only going to be worse. So maybe if a player like that had gone to an organization that didn't have that kind of history, they could

support him. But this is the lesson here. And once you get to an organization like that, once you become that guy, you can lose the chip on the shoulder thing. Like when you're the number one overall pick, you're not the, you're not the, you're not the, You're not the underdog anymore. Yeah.

And ain't it? Like, shed that from you. Not keep it up with your work ethic, but that public persona of like everyone's doubting you. Like, you're the number one overall pick. Bottom line, if you got a job out of college at a law firm, a stately law firm, the rules change. Can't be a frat boy anymore.

You're representing Stearns, Nicholas, and McDougal. You're a grown-up. We're paying you a grown-up six-figure salary. All your loser friends are working a jack in the box. you're at a law firm and don't be on Twitter being an idiot. Yeah.

I mean, I say this with full awareness that I would fail at that, but I also did not have that requirement. So the Jags and Trent Boki have been big spenders in the free agency period. Giving out contracts worth worth over $250 million. But Trump Boki hopes to dial it back

in the future. So we're trying to fix this thing long term. We have a vision for the futures. We build things out. And right now it's a combination of free agency in the draft. We hope to get this organization to the point where we're not relying

on free agency as much. we're relying on our drafts and giving second contract to those guys so far. They paid Christian Kirk, $72 million for four years. They brought in another wide receiver's A. Jones, three years, $24 million. His was a more realistic number. Christian's a little overpaid. Evan Ingram, one year, $9 million. Evan Ingram's not reliable, but he's talented.

Brandon Scherf. It's a lot of money, but I like him. By the way, Darius Williams. Again, Darius was the Rams' second best corner. He did not have a great year, but Darius is absolutely a position of need for them, and he's really talented. So the Darius Williams contract, the Evan Ingram, the Zay Jones,

the Brandon Shurf, I like. Christian Kirk to me, you gave him about $15 million more than I think he's a two on some teams of three. But again, they are not fast enough at wide receiver. And Zay and Christian can run. They're slow at receiver. And he's reliable. And I

actually don't hate that they spent all this money in free agency. If you have a young quarterback, who you know is talented in Trevor Lawrence, why wouldn't you go out and spend right now? In five years when you have to start paying four or five years, then you worry about that. Also, they have a good running back. They also drafted a running back who will be back.

So their takeaway is we're good on the defensive front. We got running backs we like and a quarterback we love. Let's upgrade wide receiver, tight end. And they did. I'm okay with it. It sounds like a lot of money. Some guys, maybe it's a little overpaid. But that's what the market dictates and you need some talent.

in free agency you're kind of almost overpaying for everybody right a little you got to now trabisky's a total steal but by and large you're kind of you're kind of overpaying for everybody yeah you're hitting the open market because you're bidding it's not the draft it's a whole different ball game right uh joy with the news well that's the news and thanks for stopping by the herd lie news we got we got a lot of stuff i will say it again i don't talk baseball uh before the season starts Freddie Freeman to the Dodgers, that batting order is insane. Now, they may not be good enough in the bullpen, and they probably need the Trevor Bauer thing backfired.

They need another starter. But I'm just talking about scoring runs, batting order, that is the best batting order in 40 years in baseball. That is an unbelievable, unbelievable batting order. And Cody Bellinger was hurt all year last year. We had like two or three different injuries. If he comes back and is 90% of what we think he is, you're like seven all-stars in that lineup.

The Buffalo Bills went out and paid a fortune for Vaughn Miller and tied in O.J. Howard. Vaughn Miller won't make all the money in the contract. But basically the Buffalo Bills, it's a very L.A. Rams move. They've had three phases in Buffalo over the last couple years. The first phase is, hmm, they draft Josh Allen. Is Josh Allen good? That was the first phase. The second phase was, oh, Josh Allen's really good.

And the third phase, and now you're seeing it this year, is we are going to be on a short list of two or three teams to be Super Bowl favorites. I think Buffalo, my opinion, was the best team in the league last year on their best days. But they had some rough edges. They were a little high and low. They should have beat Kansas City. They had them beat with 13 seconds left. Vaughn Miller is a go-for-it move. You can overpay.

You feel like with Josh Allen, you're going to be leading most football games you play late. and we need a guy. This is what the Rams. This is what I was told with the people up front of the Rams. With Matt Stafford and McVeigh, we're going to lead 90% of our football games with five minutes to go. We just want to make sure your quarterback, who in many instances is very good.

We have a guy that get him. We got Aaron Donald. He gets doubled. We want another guy. So this was always the Bill Pulling and Peyton Manning thing, is when you have a great quarterback, you know you're going to be leading most games with five, six minutes to go. What you do is go and get great pass rushers.

This is why, the Colts, when they got Peyton Manning, go get Dwight Freeney. This is the smart thing to do with the great. This is why Seattle had a quarterback didn't lead enough because of an old run game offense and didn't have a pass rush. That's the biggest mistake you can make. Once you get the great quarterback, go pay for a pass rush. That's like they go hand in hand because you're going to be leading with seven minutes to go.

The Patriots don't always have the number one. When the Patriots let Chandler Jones go, the big mistake that, It's a mistake by them. They never found a Chandler Jones. Is that, okay, where now you don't have somebody I have to double. You're going to be Tom Brady led New England 90% of games with four minutes to go. So that's what they're saying is when Mahomes gets the ball with 13 seconds left, he's not going to beat us anymore because we think we're going to be leading all these games.

But it goes back to New England. They have fallen in love with themselves. What Buffalo is saying is we know we're better than New England. We're now just going to put the first time in 20 years, we're putting the foot on the throat here. If you went this morning and you listed the 10 best players, same division, AFC East, Bills and Patriots, Josh Allen's the best player, Stefan Diggs is second, and Vaughn Miller's third. I'll give the Patriots the Forced Math Judon, although he disappeared at the end of the year. Tredavius White, great corner for Buffalo, got hurt.

Jordan Poyer, Micahide. They have tremendous safeties. I'll give you David Andrews, who I think was undrafted at center. And then Tramaine Edmonds and Dawson Knox, who I think had six or seven, nine touchdown catches last year. There you go. Eight of the top 10 players. By the way, 11 to 15 is mostly Bills 2.

They got a lot of B plus pass rush guys, Ed Oliverish kind of players. So this is a move basically saying, we haven't been here in 20 years. We got better players than New England. we're going to be leading New England late. We're going to take away the one thing that cost us the Super Bowl. We just needed one more pass rusher maybe against Kansas City. So those who worship at the House of Belichick, he is the best football coach I've ever seen.

He should have been fired years ago as a general manager. They do not have enough good football players. The idea they let Shaq Mason go, they're not paying Mac Jones. Who are they paying? Who are you paying? If you're not paying your credit, quarterback, you've got the best GMs in this league.

This is where Belichek, he's fallen in love with Belich. It's Popovich. He's fallen in love with himself. Popovich is like, I don't need Kauai Leonard. Shipping to Canada. How's that working out for you? You're not even a viable playoff team now. Forget a top seed.

You can't even get in the playoffs. You're weak. So, Von Miller, big deal. Good for them. Did they overpay for it? Yeah. Sometimes when you, I can't tell the story. on the air. It's a really good one. Sometimes in business, I used to work at a company that did something, and they had this same philosophy on a rival company, not this one. ESPN did this with

somebody else. They went to a company that they thought was teetering and they just took their best employee. This is basically Buffalo saying, yeah, we're better. This is a, now we've got a better pass rush than you too. Because it's not like Buffalo didn't have a pass rush. They've got a lot of good defensive linemen. They got like a seven-man row. They got like a seven-man row rotation up front. What they're doing what the Rams did? Go for it. Just go for it. Why not? So much fun. We'll keep you updated on the Cleveland Brown situation. Do you go with Case Keenham? Do you go with Jimi Goropolo? Do you go with Baker? Is it a bridge too far? How's Baker going to react to all this stuff? We'll find out. I mean, it's none of these are the right answer. You can do

whatever you wanted to. The truth of the matter is what you could really do, you know, it's, If you want to elevate Baker's value, let him play in September because it's still a great offensive roster. He'll come back healthy, get some big numbers. Maybe you can move him at the trade deadline and go with Case Keenham. That's not a terrible idea. You want to get something out of him. Well, unless the situation is toxic, why be desperate?

You made a big swing at Deshawn Watson. You're not going to get him. You have Baker on his fifth-year option. If it's not completely unrepairable, run it back with him to see her trade him at the trade deadline. Jay Wright, Villanova head coach will be joining us last hour. It's crazy. Anything else?

We do believe Deshawn Watson. Kyle Pitts, the tied in for Atlanta, went to Twitter, has deleted it. Kyle Pitts and Deshawn Watson share the same agent. So that appears to be a strong lean, Deshawn Watson of the Falcons. He's from there. you know, they re-signed a tackle and their kicker. They went and got a corner Casey Hayward. So Atlanta's in a perpetual rebuild for the last four years.

But, you know, you get the quarterback right. You're fine. Oh, Deshawn was also a Falcons ballboy as a kid. It's hard to, when you go, that's a good sell. Saints are up against it. Try to sell Deshawn away from his hometown. That's powerful stuff. Hour three next.
