It is the herd here, Fox Sports Radio on a Monday morning, two pros and a cup of Joe, filling in for Colin, LeVar Harrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox here. Q didn't get it right.

We called money, baby. And yes, we do have a breaking news. a story that has lasted the entirety of the NFL off season. We knew it. We was calling for it for this show. It has now reached its conclusion as reports are now saying that the Cowboys... The Cowboys... Just trying to make up for this.

We crushed it. The Cowboys and C.D. Lamb have reached an agreement on a four-year, $136 million contract. It makes him the... According to Adam Schaefter, the second highest... That's not accurate. Non-QB in NFL history, all that stuff. But nonetheless, the deal is done.

He gets $34 million a year annually. I don't know why Schefter does this. I don't know why he does this. He knows he's not going to make as much as Justin Jefferson. Dang. Justin Jefferson's new deal is a four-year, $140 million deal. Yeah. Which comes out to $35 million per year.

This deal is a four-year $136 million deal, which is $34 million per year. I don't know why he says this. I mean, it's almost like he's copying and pasting immediately from the agent. Like, hey, put this out there because if you say it just everyone will believe it. That's not true. By the way, it doesn't make it a bad deal.

I'm just saying, I don't know why they get, like, it's a great deal. And by the way, C.D. Lamb is probably right up there next to Justin Jefferson, but I don't think anyone would make the case that C.D. Lamb has been better than Justin Jefferson. Up top. Up top, John. Yeah, up top.

Now, if you listened earlier in the show, Lebar and I, we were trying to predict how this was going to turn out. What are the sound like? Do we have the sound from that? There you go. Well, I don't know, Brady. I mean, I disagree. I think this deal will probably get done and it'll get done by hour three today. Boy, I'll tell you what, Jonas. I think you're correct. What is Q talking about? I don't know.

Seems like he's taking crazy pills. Ha ha ha. Well, I'll tell you what, C.D. Lamb, he's going to get the deal done. Before this show is in, you're going to win. And I think that I'm going to double down on that. I'm going to triple down. It'll be $34 million a year for C.D. Lamb. I think you're right, Jonas.

Why are you going to say like your robots? You're not robots. No, well, that's from earlier. That's from earlier. That's from earlier. You act like you're robots in your talking. Like, what is wrong? Why are you mad

Q? Why are you mad? I don't know why you guys need to go to such lengths. Would you guys get something wrong? I really wanted to bleed into the season. I thought it was. I didn't think it was going to get done.

I didn't think it was going to get done. But you know what? Jamar Chase, you're on the clock because I don't think I, you ain't got it because you ain't going to get it. I was just going to say I actually would make the case Iyukes next because it's a close. statement that if C.D. Lamb wasn't going to surpass it with that deal, he needs to take

whatever offers on the table from San Francisco, unless Washington now has a better chance of signing him, given the dots and trade and maybe they're back involved in the mix, given the connection to the staff, etc. Is that being discussed? Is that being tossed around like strongly? We talked about it last year. I know we talked about it, but is that being tossed around? Because I think that would be one hell of a move for the commanders to pull that off to get IUC and to get him back with Jaden Daniels. If people don't know, they're connected through ASU and they were both playing at Arizona State University. I think that would be a tremendous move.

The other thing is, when you have a front office that knows the front office well in Washington, typically it helps get these deals done if there's a deal to be made. right so so whatever the 49ers asking price is and if the Washington commandos have that draft capital or want to trade you know trade whatever it is maybe it's player compensation that you know that helps to get it done when you know John Lynch knows Adam Peters well so that's one thing they have going for them in order for that to be the case but I think if you're brand and I yuk are you really going to look at I mean maybe you look at Washington and say okay better opportunity but are you going to replace Terry McLaurin? he's probably still going to be the number one receiver so if that's the case you're probably better off with where you're at and wasn't Debo Samuel at one point on the trade block or they talked about that?

I mean if that's the case and you do sign an extension there I mean you're at least going to be the guy for the next few years I mean Ricky Pearson took in the back into the first round but he still needs to prove himself but isn't it about feeling appreciated it more than anything like the fact that

I think he feels undervaluer and underappreciated by the Niners. I think you would be willing to take less money from somewhere else. But that's the thing is that whatever the Steelers offered. Whatever the Steelers offered was what caused them to go back to the negotiation table with the 49ers. I think that the number that distillers would have thrown out was probably more offensive than what the Niners offer was. It's like somebody who breaks up and is like, I don't want to go see what the scenes like and they get out for about an hour and a half. I'm like, all right, never mind.

You want to get back together? Let's talk. I was wrong, baby. I was wrong, baby. I think the commanders will probably be way more attractive. I think it's more acceptable for the commanders

to make a more aggressive offer for a guy like Brandon Iyuk than what distillers. If the Steelers made an aggressive play on Brandon Ayyuk, it does not fit the character of what that organization, how that franchise does what they do.

But the commanders on the other hand, They would. They do fit that. And I think that would be a tremendous pickup for them now. Is that better than San Fran? No. If we're looking at it at face value, San Francisco is right there at it. We know that.

They're right there close to it. If Brock Purdy can be the man that he's been, whether you want to call him franchise or game manager, I don't really care what you label them as. If he can come out and play at the level he's played at, since he's been starting and maybe even a little higher, this team is the team to beat. They get Trent Williams back.

I hear there's positivity there. Maybe, I don't know, maybe he gets it done next. We don't talk very much about Trent Williams and his deal. I think that's a very big piece, a major piece of the puzzle for this San Francisco team. If they put all those things together, they put this to bid and get into the season, I think they're the team to beat outside of Philadelphia in the NFC.

So if I'm Brandon I, you If they offer me less money I just take a one year Like play the rest of your contract out Don't even take an extension Play your contract out So that you can get a free agent market This is it right

This is the last one Either they can Well they could tag them And I don't think that they're going to put a We're seeing a trim where they're not putting exclusive tags on guys Right So if they don't put an exclusive tag on you

Didn't he? Yeah. An exclusive. Yeah. That's why he's got to stay. He's got to play on the tag. But they gave the unrestricted to a couple what? To a lot of guys, actually.

Most got non-exclusive franchise. Play this year out. Play the last year you deal out. Don't do any deals with anybody. Take the chance. Bet on yourself. Bet on yourself. That's what I would say.

I mean, the hard thing about that is, let's just say if you are Brennan Ayyuk and you're not going to surpass the total value of the content. track. So you're not going past Jefferson at 140. You're not going past CD at 136. Maybe you could the signing bonus. You know, maybe you get 39, 40 million up front, which would be a significant amount on maybe it's a little shorter term deal. Who knows? Maybe it's only a three-year deal. Maybe it is a four-year deal. However they figure it out, my only point is you're not going to surpass the average annual value since that's the metric that we all use to equate. if you reset the market or not.

But you can find other ways of doing that, whether it's guarantees or a signing bonus that would surpass what C.D. Lamb just got it. If that's the case, do it. I mean, the 49ers have money. So that's one way that he could get it done. And if that's the case, man, it'd be really hard to play for $14 million this year,

which I believe is his number on the fifth year option, and then be staring or looking at $30 some or $40 million in a signing bonus dead square in the face. and somewhere around 30 million a year, if that's the number that you could be making on a three, four year extension. Like that's in me, I'm like, I don't know. I don't think I can play this year for $14 million.

Even if there was greener passengers on the other side, having all that staring me in the face. So now C.D. Lambs deal is done. Four years, 136 million, as reported earlier, and predicted by LeVar and I here on this show. Up top. Up top. The conversation, yeah, that's what we're talking about.

but the conversation does now turn to all right DAC is in line right is Dak going to get his deal done sometime soon or they just going to let this thing roll out and he gets in the next season and because the last time they tried this he went out and snapped his leg and still got paid

so it's like they can they can roll this thing out but now I wonder if this does maybe speed up the DAC conversation because reportedly talks you know have gone well there was some optimism yet still no deal for Dak Prescott.

So that's where we stand on the Dallas Cowboys. And your boy, Michael Parsons, is going to be in line next year there, Barr. Yeah. What's he looking for? Why don't we just get him on and ask him? Like, what are you looking for in a contract? We can just break that down here. I think anybody who's looking at the highest

paid player on the defensive side of the ball can, you know, you look at their contract. Wow. Yeah. There you go. Hey, LeVar, see what can get him to come on. I mean, he's on what central time? And they're in So, one o'clock. Yeah, see if we'll come on the show.

At 11.11. Y'all asked that at 11.11. That's why. See intentional. Well, no, no, you have specific time. And that's this show. I'm talking about like in the mornings, in our show. Yeah, not on the herd.

I get it. But you want to come on that at that time, which is perfect. 11.11. It was perfect time to ask that question. It was intentional. I'm certain we could probably get that done. Yeah. Get him to call in at like, what, 430, you know, 430 central time, something like that.

Yeah. He's up and grinding. No, and Micah. he's probably up. Yeah. Yeah, he's probably up. And he's got a new one, so, you know, he might be up changing the diaper. Is he ever doing?

He does. All right. Oh, nice. Baby boy. Good for him. Yep. Now, do you guys want to also have the, uh, con, well, I'm, we'll tease that. No, you don't need to tease it.

Don't start. This is going to be a longer. Well, you know, it just, it feels like there's maybe some question marks going into the season for, uh, for somebody else in the NFL. and that's somebody is Deshawn Watson. A man who, listen, since we're just being honest here on the show,

filling in for Colin here on the herd, a guy that Lovar has defended for months and months and months now is being He's deserving of defense. One of the great quarterbacks in the league and somebody who was going to bounce back and have a strong performance.

He's compensated for it too. Now, he did not play at all in the preseason. They made the decision to hold him out in the final preseason game. We talked about that because look, they had a bunch of injuries on the offensive line. The plan was to play and then the plan wasn't to play. He had to like rest his shoulder because of soreness and like there's just been a lot going on there. He was a little sore. So Kevin Stefanski did speak about the decision not to play Deshawn Watson in the preseason but is pretty confident that he's going to bounce back and respond when the regular

season kicks off. I think we've had a lot of time together as an offense. as a teammate with his team. He's a winner. Continues to win games for us. I'm excited for him with all the work that he's put into this offseason. I'm excited for him. Yeah. So he started 12 games.

Wasn't there a miscommunication or something that happened again as to whether or not he was going to play in the final preseason game? So I guess when they were asking Deshaun about that, he kind of said, well, that's news to me. Like that was sort of thrown out there. in camp that there was a little bit of confusion as to whether or not he was going to play in the preseason. Even though it seemed like Stefansky had made it clear, like, yeah, we were aiming towards the preseason. Even last week, you know, he said, yeah, you know, we're still planning on him to play in the preseason finale,

but with all the injuries and whatnot, we're just going to take it day by day, but that is the plan as of right now. And then you go back to last year, and there was also the confusion about his injury. Remember Stifansky gave some messaging that made it seem like it was, what, a pain tolerance thing? and then they had to come out afterwards and say, no, it was more than that. And then the messaging got changed again to... They didn't even know if it was a head injury. He suffered the injury in a prior game. Like, it feels like there are two different conversations that are being had in one building.

But there can only be one this season. I think that's the point. I think the stakes are really, really high. for whoever did that contract, stakes are high. For the ownership who did that allowed it and they're paying it, stakes are high. Listen, I would even go as far as to say,

even though that money is guaranteed, if you don't want to leave this game, being known as someone who stole that big bag, which some people will applaud it, I mean, you won in a losing effort, didn't matter, but if legacy matters, to you? Do you want your legacy to just be, well, I was awarded the largest guaranteed contract in the

history of the game, but I'd never deliver when I went there. I would assume that you have enough competitive nature, fuel that's driving you, where you don't want to come out of this game and be looked at as someone that really, really totally underachieve for what it was that they were able to make in terms of a contract. I think the stakes are high. I don't know. I'll continually say it. I'll continually say it.

They cannot move on from Deshawn Watson until after 2026. It's crazy. It just financially, it would be crippling in many ways. I mean, I guess technically You're crippling them more being on the team. You still got to use them? I mean, after this year, $137 million in dead cap. Crazy.

After the next year, $73 million approximately in dead cap. This agent crushed that contract. Now, again, you could, I mean, look, maybe they, they're not going to, there's nothing to restructure. They took them out. It's all guaranteed already. They was out on. town when that deal got done.

Oh, yeah. I guess you could do a post-June-1 designation and split that out, but that's still after the 2025 season. You have two more years of Deshawn Watson, regardless of what you think about him as a quarterback. Good, bad, and different, whatever off the, whatever they think, they've got two more years before there's any sort of transition that they can make. And that is all because of that contract.

And so as far as he was never going to play in the preseason. Never. And especially behind an offensive line that was banged up too, by the way, this training camp in preseason. And so, you know, we'll see what they look like this year. But the hard part for Browns fans is this team, this roster is, in my opinion, probably the best in the NFL. As far as overall talent, both sides of the ball,

the depth that they have as well. And so all they need is him to go in there and manage the thing. And they can get to the playoffs and potentially win a Super Bowl. That's how talented this roster is. If he's able to go in there, stay healthy, just manage this thing. They can win a Super Bowl. That is not hyperbole. And it's not.

Jim Schwartz did an unbelievable job with that defense last year. You know, the offense, I think, you know, look, Chubb's going to start. on the Pupplist, but they still showcase the ability to run the football despite not having him last year. When he comes back, that's going to give this offense some extra juice. So I just look at him and I say, people can say whatever they want. It doesn't matter. He's going to be there for at least the next two seasons.

It's just wild to think that the question mark for the Cleveland Browns isn't the roster. It's the guy they gave $230 million guaranteed. You just got hope he accepts the challenge, man. Except the challenge. This is the best roster they've ever had since they've come back as an expansion team. This is the best roster since they came back in 1999. That's how good they are. That's how good they can be, depending on how things go now moving forward.

Damn. They're going to stink this year. Oh, geez. I'm not a bad negative. I think they're going to stink. That's a hell of a roster. They are the Navian of NFL teams. Speaking of, are there?

Now, coming up here in about 20 minutes from now, though, we are going to get the very latest discussion on a big-time move that took place in the NFL earlier.

now. Big whoop. It starts now, right? It's not if he decides to go back. The clock starts now. The clock starts now. For to four years. Well, hopefully he'll be with the chargers that entire time. Now, they had a little bit of a snafu in Dallas where

some players got stuck in an elevator. This is crazy, man. Man, that's my worst nightmare, dude. They brought in a mechanic to try and fix it, and the guy couldn't get it fixed. So they were stuck somewhere between, like, the third and 15th floor or something like that. Like, a crazy difference there.

Like, I'm not sure which floor exactly they were on, but somebody said between the 30 feet away from the nearest door. Yeah. So they said that they had to remove tiling from the top of the elevator. Like that heart. Like watching one of them superhero movies.

Yeah. Like one of those villains from diehard, you know. You know. Yeah. And so they had to climb from one to the next. Why you stink? One to the next. And so dude takes a little personal in-you-window shots at me during the show.

To everyone out there that's listening, you might have not a cotty. Hold on a second. The dude takes shots at me. What do you mean? I'm just contributing to your story. I'm just being a good hype man that you need and you want to take shots at me. It's fine.

You said Diart. I thought, look, but right around the corner from a sports talk radio that involves was Die Hard a Christmas movie coming up just a couple of months from now. For those of you just want to get everybody prepped for that. But Jim Harbaugh did compliment Justin Herbert and his handling of the elevator situation. That's a shared experience to me. Brought them closer together.

I just missed it, you know, being on that. that elevator and it's like I wish I could have been there with those guys you know and but but Justin Herbert was and the remarkable things that came out of it was you know to a to a guy you know Tarheed young rookie players like Justin Herbert's a leader I mean he was a rock you know kept everybody calm what Jerry Fouts told me the same thing you know pulled me side after they got out and just how how great Justin was and and everybody I mean everybody kept their poise and you know just you know you get in those situations and it's a test of wills what I love Jim Harbaugh because if you do anything when you're his player if you do anything he will

pump you up like you are Superman it is the greatest thing in the world man I wish I could I'd say whenever you want, but they're stuck in an elevator and just, there's no one else who would be stuck in the elevator with the Justin Herbert. I just missed it. I wish I was in there with him. It's like he was a number away from winning Powerball. God, just missed it. Just missed me and stuck in that elevator.

They got stuck in an elevator. He just wanted to witness the greatness of Justin Herbert in that elevator, stuck in there handling it as a leader, you know, commanding people and helping people calm down. I'll say this. This happened one time to me when we were in college. We're in Seattle. We were playing University of Washington. And we all loaded up in this elevator.

And there was way too many people that should have been inside. And that thing, doors shut, went to go up. Wasn't happening. Try to open the doors. Couldn't open the doors. And the panic that you saw on some of our, especially our bigger guys, like our offensive line, their faces was like, I mean, you really did have to calm them down. Someone hit the call button or whatever.

All they did, they ended up hitting like some reset button. and we had to have a few people get off. But at that point, guys got off, and I swore to God, they went up like 14 stories on the stairs because they were so scared of getting back in that elevator again. I've never done that. I've always had phobias of getting caught on an elevator, and they probably were squeezed into that elevator.

So I would have been in that joint. Like, we're going to die! I can't breathe. I can't. The walls are closing in. I can't. Oh, Nana, I'm coming home, Nana. I hope you're there at the gate to get your grand, baby.

I'm coming. I can't breathe. Like, I would have, I would have felt like, I don't mess around with elevators. If I see a bunch of people go in, I count, and I'm like, I'll catch the next one. I'm always the I'll catch the next elevator, dude. No, I don't need to take the stairs. I'm just not getting, like, what Q's talking about. That's like a thing.

When you travel as a team, dudes is like, I got my snack. I'm telling me I need to get in my room. Like that last dude, he got like a piece of bread in his mouth, piece of meat in his mouth, pause. And he jumps on the elevator. And he's that last dude that makes it beep. And the doors are closing slow. And it's like the doors don't want to close.

The doors know they don't need to close. But some way, somehow they still close. And everybody turning and looking at each other. And then there's that one civilian that's just a part of the being at the hotel. Don't have anything to do with us. And they're on this elevator with us. I don't do it. I don't do it.

If I see too many people, even in real life, like today, if I see like five people on an elevator, I wait for the next elevator. I'd be like, there's all kinds of, they're going to, we're going to use our germs against one another. There's, there's, I don't know what, I don't know who you are. I just, I just wait for the next elevator. If I could get on an elevator by myself, I would. I just, that's just never been a deal for me. But that would be crazy. If I, I would have, I would have been.

Now, do we know the details? Did it drop? or did it just stop? Because if it had dropped, like two, three floors. If it just stopped, I think it had been okay. But if that bad boy dropped

and hit that little yo-yo little dip on you real quick, no, man. Nah, they would have, y'all would have had to revive me. The yo-yo dip. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. Damn. I'd have been in that joint. Y'all would have had to, I don't know, I wouldn't have had enough room to, like, fall out on the ground. so I would have just crumbled right there, tore both my ACLs,

tore everything up, you know, messed up my hamstrings, all that stuff. It would have been no good to the team. Yeah, but eventually somebody's going to come get you. Yeah, bro, bro, I don't know, man. You're not buried alive. That's a tight space. You might as well be. What if you was hanging on by a thread?

What if you didn't know that that joint was about to just break and go? Way more room in an elevator than a casket. I mean, it's not that bad. What? it like we're talking about this removed from the scenario happening. If something like that happened, the first thing I'm thinking to myself is, are the cables going to hold us? I know the cables are strong enough to hold all, everything it holds.

I'm going to be sitting there like, are the cables going to snap? I mean, you guys told me that you have elevators in your house. Like, I don't understand how you have a phobia of elevators. I've historically had elevators in my house. I don't have one. Yeah, tell a little bar. You historically have had elevators in your house. Currently, I do not have one in California.

It's cost too much. Cost too much to get property that has elevators. By the way, you know Jonas is needling you what he does. What do you mean? He's just, he's trying to make himself look more relatable. Yeah, guys are so sad. So the average man. I got a hole in my sweater.

I was leaning into that so much that I wanted so badly just to prove that I wasn't only a football player. What does that mean? The slight perspective adjustment I had was to lean into the, fact that I am a football player.

So I'm thankful that I'm a football player and that has been my identity and I'm not just on the back nine. I'm on the 18th T right now trying to finish. So you are a football player using golf isms. Okay. Well, that was a little bit of a quick contradiction. Let me put it this way is no one really cares after you were done playing. Like that's just the reality of it.

I mean, unless you get into the media world, the broadcasting business. even then, they move past your playing and they want to hear what you're going to say and what you're talking about what's happening on the field they're playing. So we see guys constantly do this where they try to display that they're more than just a football, more than just an athlete.

It's like, yeah, we get it, man. Like, I relate to that, I understand that. The truth is, like, none of the fans of people really care that much. They just, they want you to go help when football games on Sundays. That's just the truth. Like that dude that was crying at the golf course.

You know, like, can you please get us a Super Bowl? Can you please just get us a Super Bowl? Like, do you think he, like, he doesn't want to hear about a trip to Egypt? No, he doesn't want to hear about any of that. Like, he, you're perspective shifting. Like, what? What are you talking about? I mean, I'm just happy to have a coach.

I'm in sports media and I'm confused. Like, what are you talking about, bro? Just fans are just happy to have a coach. You doesn't have a foot fetish. Like, they're like small wins. They're trying to accomplish everything. I mean, is it fair to say, Levor, has that been your experience? Like, when you're done, you're done?
