We're live in Los Angeles. It's the herd wherever you may be and however you may be listening. IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1. Jason McIntyre is joining me, the Hall of Famer, Jimmy Johnson. We'll join us from the Keys, Florida Keys, in about 90 seconds. I was watching the games this week. Belichick was coming unglued and throwing stuff. New England had a hell of an effort with a third string quarterback.

They really did a good job. I think coaching, I mean, next to maybe like a neurosurgeon or somebody saving lives, the stress level, these games in the NFL are decided. I mean, college football, the officiating is so mediocre. I mean, guys lose their jobs at times on bad officiating. But in the NFL, I'm watching that New England Green Bay game, like, it's a play. That game comes down to play. The Jets and the Steelers.

It's just a play. It is, and that's why with Brady, he has seen so many situations before that Tom or a veteran quarterback just gets you through. You know, a receiver's not lined up right. A guard misses an

assignment. This is a game of inches, and I can see where these coaches, I'm watching these games, I'm like, your family, everything is your career is tied into this stuff, and it's all a field goal or a call away from blowing it. I know the NFL's all about

parody, right? We always talk about it, but really, this is about one or two plays. If Jacksonville doesn't fumble five times, maybe they upset the Eagles. Well, I mean, who's a great team in the league right now? So we have a salary cap, and because nobody plays in the preseason, there's so many soft tissue injuries, Buffalo's missing six starters, that Buffalo, you know, Ravens game. That comes down to a play. It comes down to a series. You spend all this time in a week. It comes down to a series. Buffalo and Kansas City, you could argue, are two plays away from being undefeated. One play against the Colts.

Think about this. One penalty against a Colts. Remember when Parcells quit, retired because Tony Romo dropped the snap and the Seattle? I remember that. Think about that. You work all week. Andy Reed works all week. And his special teams in Indianapolis, they miss extra points.

Otherwise, let's bring on Jimmy Johnson. Maybe that's why Jimmy lives in the Keys. Jimmy's like, enough of this nonsense. I want to go fishing and have a beer on my terms. I understand, Jimmy, why you had 10 years. years you could have written. By the way, why did you retire? Were you just tired of everything? It was an all-consuming job. Yeah. Because I handled personnel. I mean, if I hadn't handled personnel, I probably could have delegated a little bit more and had a little bit more

spare time. But, you know, I was completely away from my family all the time. You know, I never really had any social life, didn't have a family life. And so I said, hey, it's time for me to enjoy a few things. If you would have had to, I don't know how many times you faced Andy Reed, but Todd Bowles is a heck of a defensive coach, and he is flummoxed last night. I don't know your history with Reed, but I watch Andy and Mahomes, and Jimmy, it is like a perfect marriage. Andy likes to screw around and have some flair and fun, and Mahomes can deliver it. When you watch it, what do you say? Starting off that ball game, when I saw Mahomes, making some of the throws,

making some of the plays. Kelsey, you know, running the ball, jumping over at tackles. Yeah, here's a little basketball. Look at here. Look at this play by Holmes. Unbelievable. I mean, how many quarterbacks can do that? When I saw that, I said, please, there's no way as good as Brady is that, you know, Tampa's going to win this game. Kansas City's got this thing all the way. Yeah, you can, the knock on Andy Reid has been he can get a little cute. but when you prepared for a coach that had tricks, that had different things, was it harder for you to prepare for? You had to spend time on fake punts and reverses.

Without question, I tell you, in college, Bobby Bowden was that way. Yes. My first year, my first year of University of Miami, you know, we lined up against them. They ran reverse after reverse, you know, flea flicker here, there, and everywhere, and beat is pretty good in Miami. we got ready for him the next four years. We beat him in the next four years. But that first year, man, I was just seeing going, my head was spinning,

looking at all those reverses. We got ready for him. All right. Yeah, I remember those. And Bobby, by the way, the late Bobby Bowden was one of the most creative coaches. One time he told me, I said, Bobby, where do you? I said, what do you do when you get home after a game? He goes, I take out a notepad and I watch the Pack 12.

He goes, they always got good tricks out there. He goes, I know the other coaches fall asleep. He goes, I sit and take notes on Pac-12 games. So to your point, some guys are more creative. Now, let's Burrow in on Dallas. You know, I don't buy into the quarterback controversy, but I will say this. There are times that a backup can do things as a coach,

and you're like, you know what? I'm going to take that element with us to DAC. What do you see from Cooper Rush that you really like and would keep doing it? Well, he knows how to be successful. in the NFL. Howie and Michael, they get tired of me saying this, but success in the NFL is not who makes the most great plays.

It's who makes the fewest bad plays. And Cooper Rush, he knows his role. His role is get the ball to the playmakers, throw to the open receiver, and let your defense win the game. You know, don't try to be cute, don't try to be pretty, don't try to make the great throw,

don't try to scramble for 10 yards. And probably as slow as he is, he's not going to scramble for 10 yards. But he knows his role, and that's why they're successful. Yeah. What do you make of the Cowboys defense? Pretty good pass rush this year, Jimmy. Yeah. Well, no, great pass rush.

They've got great pass rushers. It'll be interesting to see what the Rams do in our game of the week here, you know, come Sunday. Yeah. I mean, because, you know, the Rams, you know, should be able to run the football and slow that pass rush down. But that's how Tampa beat him the first game. You know, Fournette rushed the football. Right.

You've got to run the football to slow that pass rush down. You know, listen, a couple weeks ago, this probably drove you nuts. Jerry had to have the mic in front of him. He said, oh, I'd love to have a quarterback controversy. And I thought, oh, good God. What would you have said to Jerry if he'd have said that five minutes later in the locker room? I would try not to listen to anything that Jerry said because he's going to talk every single day.

Anytime somebody walks into that building with a microphone, he's going to talk. And so, really, you know, Mike McCarthy said, hey, Dak Prescott is our quarterback. Enough said. So here's what concerns me. I saw it at Oklahoma this weekend, and I've seen it with the Denver Broncos, is that generally Jimmy, a head coach takes over a football team, Collager Pro, and he gets his side of the ball figured out.

Lincoln Riley's got the Trojan offense figured out. McVeigh did it in L.A. McDermott got the Bill's defense figured out. That's what you guys do. But when I see the coach struggling on his side, Nathaniel Hackett in this offense, Jimmy, it's vanilla. It's predictable. There's not a lot of movement.

I'm not trying to be hyper here, but I don't see it. Is it a mistake? Is he over his head? Well, the problem, Colin, is you've got a new coach. a new quarterback, and that new quarterback's not a young quarterback. He's a veteran that's had a lot of success. So he's pretty well set in his ways. So the two of them have got to somehow blend, you know,

to find out what's best for both of them. But there can be a little bit of conflict until they get to feeling each other out. Because one's going to want to do something, and the other one said, hey, that's not what I'm good at. I'm good at something else. And so it takes a while for them to blend. Listen, you dealt with strong personalities. Troy Aikman, Dan Marino, and it's not easy.

And I think Troy obviously was winning, and you got Troy in his prime. You got an older Dan. So I look at Aaron Rogers. He's obviously great, but he's got these rookie receivers. And his personality can be pretty prickly when it comes to new guys. He's not going to, if you fumble, he's not going back to you. Would you, Jimmy, how would you handle that with a Hall of Fame, quarterback and rookie receivers from small colleges.

Yeah, you know, actually mine was pretty good. Troy was, of course, young, and so he did whatever we wanted to do to win the games. And then really, Dan, you know, when I went there, Dan realized that he didn't have any needs left. He couldn't move. He had had a bunch of injuries. And he told me, he said, coach, I don't care if we run the ball every day. And he said, I just want to win some games.

So, Dan, you know, as opposed to what some of the. the media thought, Dan was really pretty good about what we wanted to do. Yeah. Yeah, you look at Aaron Rogers. Yeah, I think he's been pretty good. He is still a great, great quarterback. But even in the game yesterday, who is it, Dobbs, the rookie receiver, dropped the touchdown. But in overtime, he went right back to him. And so I think Rogers has been pretty good. And he has adapted to the running game the last couple of years, which he might not have done years ago. I would imagine, you know, it's so, I've asked you this before, but you want your players to care. I mean, you were able to coach Charles Haley, who was highly emotional.

But you would prefer your quarterback, have a little bit more emotional discipline because you're kind of the captain of the ship, right? I like Lamar Jackson a lot. He wears his emotion on his sleeve. and sometimes when I watch him, Jimmy, if he has a pick, he starts pressing. He gets very emotional. He gets very discouraged. He tries too hard. It's about the only thing about him I don't love.

Do you coach it out of him? How would you handle that? You know, I think the quarterback and the coach has got to, you know, kind of work together on this. You know, just for instance, you mentioned Troy Aigman earlier on. You know, Troy was as quiet as a church mouse. you know, really when I was there. And then after I left and he saw that the team needed a little bit of discipline, he was screaming and hollering at the players, you know, every other play.

Because Barry was over on the sideline eating a hot dog. But Troy took that role as a disciplinarian. And so, you know, really, I think the quarterback has got to be his own personality. You've seen both work. You've seen, you know, the fiery guy that's able to get it going to Brett Farves. And then by the same token, you've seen the real, you know, laid back, very calm and cool and collected, you know, guy. You know, Tom Brady goes bananas every now and then. But when he's on the field behind the center, you know, he's calm, cool, and collected.

Okay. So Rams Niners tonight. I like Garoppolo more than most, but I also view him as a guy that needs things to line up for him. You're not going to carry a lot, right? Stafford is unique. He's a little Joe Burrell that he can be a tad reckless, but he tends to forget it. It doesn't affect him the next series.

How much reckless are you comfortable with? I don't like reckless. Right. I guess from my days playing defense and coaching defense, I wanted the team to be able to win. I think you've got to take chances offensively. times you might need to be reckless in order to get back into the game. But I don't want to beat ourselves before we have an opportunity to win it with our team.

And so the quarterback, I would say this, there's times to be reckless. But, you know, therefore, until you see the momentum of the game, you want to be somewhat conservative, protect the football, don't take a lot of chances. Who is the best team? you have seen so far. Is it Kansas City? Colin, you're going to have to ask me week by week because one week it's this team, you know, one week you say,

hey, man, this Philadelphia bunch is good. And then the next week you say, last night you say it's Kansas City. I think a lot of it's going to depend on who stays healthy through the next couple of months. Right. Because things can change in a hurry. You lose a key player. And all of a sudden you go to the middle of the pack,

whereas before you at the leader of the pack. Yeah. Hey, you're down in Miami. You know the dolphins and that part very, very well. You know, the Tua situation, obviously they've fired doctors.

I mean, it's interesting. You grow up in a different generation or coached in a little bit of a different generation where, you know, guys, I mean, it's now there's cameras, there's doctors, there's media. We are very hyper aware of head, injuries up. What was the rule 20 years ago? I mean, did you just look a guy in the eye and go,

yeah, I don't feel right? No, no, that didn't happen even when I was coaching. And the procedure, I talked about it on Fox NFL Sunday yesterday. When a player was injured, he left the field. I never had contact with him again until the medical team, the doctors and the trainers, and now the independent neural trauma consultant, once they have checked him out, then they would come to me and they'd say, coach, he's okay, you can send him back in the game. Or they'd say, listen, we are holding him out.

You know, he is done for the game. So I never had contact with the player once he left the field and he was injured. Yeah. You know, and then as far as Mike McDaniel, you know, when the doctors, you know, the so-called experts, you know, came up to McDaniel.

and said, hey, Tua is fine, he's got a back injury. He's ready to go back in the game. He put him back in the game against, you know, who was at Buffalo? Yeah. And won the ball game. Right. You know, and so then they checked him out again Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. This is doctors checking him out three days in a row and said he's okay to go ahead and play in the Thursday night game.

Yeah. So Mike McDaniels got to listen to his, you know, his people. He's got to trust them. Yeah. And you did. You had, I mean, all your career, college and pro, you just trust the doctor. Yeah, they told me whether or not a player was going to play or not. Now, Howie Long Will, he'll dispute this.

He'd say, oh, Jimmy, you probably said, hey, you feel okay. How many fingers do I have up? You know, go ahead and get back in the game. But that was not true. I really never even talked to a player once he is injured. The doctors told me whether or not to put him back in or not. All right, Jimmy Johnson, the Hall of Fame or Fox Sports. Great seeing you.

Thanks for coming on the show, Coach. All right, Colin. All right. Appreciate it. No, I mean, I don't know the answer to any of this stuff. I have no idea. I mean, if I was a coach and a guy got hurt, my takeaway is you tell me when he can play. I mean, you got three quarterbacks. New England almost won yesterday with a third quarterback.

The Saints with Bridgewater did. I'm trying to think Cooper Rush is winning. I mean, most in this league, there are about five, six quarterbacks that literally they leave the game. It's over. But a lot of these teams, I mean, like quarterback situation. Miami. Teddy Bridgewater is more than capable of winning a bunch of Miami's got good personnel. So, I mean, to me, I just, I don't know what to make of Miami other than incompetency by doctors. I don't know what to make of it.

Did you see J.J. Watts news over the weekend? J.J. Watt had a heart procedure on Thursday, a heart procedure. And he still demanded, I'm going to play in Carolina on Sunday. And he had a good game, actually. Yeah, he did. It's that warrior mentality that these guys want to get back on the field. No, Friday, we talked about this. Keep them from messing up, right?

Yeah, you have to protect athletes from themselves, especially quarterbacks. Justin Herbert last week, not this Sunday, played. He had four broken ribs. And you could see in the first series against Jacksonville, he was wincing in pain. So I'm not, I'm not, I, everybody's casting as versions and blaming. My takeaway is, I don't know. I mean, they fire the medical people. You know, it is interesting.

I have been in a hospital probably six times in my life, right, for different stuff. And I'm not talking about going to doctors like, my annual checkup or stuff. I'm like six times I've fallen. I've broken something or whatever. And there is a gap, even with doctors, there is a, wow, he's good. Can't wait to get out of here. Like there are, I'm very lucky.

I have had last time I was at the Torrance Medical Center in Torrance, California, about 45 minutes away, fantastic last two times. Just had weird emergencies. But I will tell you in my life of six times, it's not equal. Not every pilot, the Delta pilot with 42 years experience, is going to be better than that regional airline pilot. If you're in a storm, you know who you'd rather take. So Miami, and we said this last week, you have a reason to be cynical about the dolphins. They have given you a reason to be cynical for the last 20 years in this ownership, Stephen Ross.

So, you know, when people got fired, you're like, I mean, if I told you, if I said, give me three organizations where you wouldn't trust their medical staff, three or four. Miami's one I'd mention. I mean, I would. Just based on the ownership, the sketchiness of story, if I told you there were three or four bad front offices, inappropriate front offices in the NBA, I would have picked Phoenix. Before the Robert Sarver stuff came out, because I've heard rumors over the last three or four years about Robert Sarver. So the fans have a right to be cynical, you know, the Washington football team. I mean, Alex Smith came out and said, you can't even concentrate on football. It's a circus.

And Alex Smith is not a guy that throws people under the bus. So, you know, I'm kind of like, I don't know, you think they're competent, but not every pilot is Sully Sullenberger and not every, I mean, some of these friends of friends get jobs and you think it's independent. It's tough for Mike McDaniel. This is his first head coaching job. Right. His tone today, I've been following the press conference,

he's not answering questions as openly as you expect him to, which he did last week. He's very buttoned up, say less, right? We don't, less information. We just don't know. It's a brain bruise. We were talking about Denver, and if you watch Kansas City last night, you just see how crazy and clever and creative they are.

and I mean they have a standard offense everybody in the league does but they add so much flair to it it forces you as a defensive coach to spend all this time preparing for all the tricks Denver just runs this vanilla-based stuff and then you know hopes Russell saves the day it's really a bad watch it's not creative and Nathaniel Hackett is an offensive coach and I asked Trent Dilfer what would you do to give this offense in Denver life Russell Wilson is one of the best deep ball throwers in the history of football. So find more ways by spicing up with creative play action, half-roll movements, full-pocket movements, throwbacks, all these everything is to extend the time for him in the pocket.

It's not hard to do, guys. I mean, we're in high school and we have eight ways of doing. I think they need a lot more formation, shifts, movements, more bells and whistles to run their base plays. They got some nice base plays. They got a nice structure offensively. that defense is just playing downhill on it. You got to get them retreating a little bit.

That stuff works. What it does is it creates thought, makes your defense think, and makes them back up a little bit, and makes them take it all in and say, okay, where's the why? Who's the shifts? It's three by one, two by two.

Why is there an offset back? Depth of the back. Why is there a pair? What's the split of the receivers? You make them think a lot, and then you just run your base stuff at them. Yeah, and I think you're seeing that with Denver. They're easy to prepare for.

Against the Raiders defense, they had 12 first downs. They have excellent speed receivers, a very capable back, nice left tackle. It's not a great old line. It's not terrible. And Russell Wilson, despite what you think, Colin, you won't criticize him. Listen, I'm not saying he's as good as he was six years ago. What I'm saying is 12 first downs against the Raiders that you cannot make it easy in the NFL to coach against.

It's why Georgia struggled against Missouri. Their passing offense is kind of remedial. It's not much of a threat. Missouri said, all right, throw over our heads. much easier to defend what you know is coming. Denver is just, it is base, vanilla, anybody could figure it out. 12 first downs with that talent, you got to, I mean, I watched Paul Hackett get fired at USC. It was the same knock.

They just weren't clever enough offensively. When you have talent, use it. I don't care if it's jet sweeps, reverses, make the defense think, make them backpedal. You can play downhill against Denver's offense. Just bring it. They'll never, ever do anything you don't expect. I mean, the Raiders shut them down. What does that tell you with that defense?

J. Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the Herd Lines, my news. My first losing weekend with the Herd Friday picks, I just, Denver, how did they blow that, Colin? This morning, I would pick Kansas City to, well, I had Kansas City to charge and Denver all getting into the playoffs. So I still think the Chargers,

despite their left tackle issue, they'll make a trade at the deadline. I think the Chargers and the Chiefs get in. Denver this morning is not as good as the Raiders. That opens up a spot for Cleveland, the Jets. Somebody's going to sneak in now

with Raiders and Broncos kind of falling back. I just did say that Jets. All right, let's start in that Jets game, not with the Jets, though. Trubisky. He went from Maserite Mitch to Mazda Mitch. Just a putre performance got benched at halftime. Tomlin said they needed a spark but did not commit to the starter next week. It don't matter who is that quarterback or whoever's in any position. That's our job to get it done and win games for us in general. So that's what we got to do. Winning. That's all I'm focusing on winning. You know, he's totally right. And by the way, everybody knows this except people in Pittsburgh. It's a rebuilding year. Mike Tomlin can't be consumed, not saying he is, with got to have a record at least 500. If you win four games this year, but you find your quarterback, that's a great. It's okay.

after years of success to step back for a year. But is it weird to hear a player say we're rebuilding? It's refreshing because nobody thinks this team in the AFC is a playoff team. to the best team, arguably in the league, on the road. I said this about the Minnesota Vikings. I think the Vikings are a good team. They're not good enough to go to Philadelphia and bid this Eagles team. So I I think Jacksonville and Minnesota, I still contend, will win their division. But they're not Super Bowl teams, whereas Philadelphia looks like they're in that 7-8 team Super Bowl bubble.

This team's not. I think Minnesota is a very good football team. I think Jackson has very good personnel. But I think don't blame people that can't go to Philadelphia right now. They are the hottest team in the league. Kansas City today is not going to Philadelphia in winning. I do not believe they. more about we led 14-0.

No, they had a good game plan. Okay. But, I mean, first of all, it was like windy and rainy. It was a pick six early. Yeah, it happens. They have let Tennessee now, Tennessee, which looked awful, is all of a sudden two and two. They just beat the Colts. So now you're kind of tied for the division lead, whereas for a moment it looked like they kind of were in control of the division.

It happens. Yeah, it does happen. Finally, Colin, tonight, NFC West Showdown. Matt Stafford and the Rams head up to the Bay Area, take on Jimmy G and the Niners. San Fran obviously lost to Denver in prime time last week. Rams hoping to get a strangle hold on first in the division. I saw this stat. If San Francisco wins, then the 49ers, Rams, Seahawks and Cardinals, all two and two in the NFC West, which would be a little bonkers.

I'm on San Francisco tonight. I just think Shanahan, I know that he doesn't have his left tackle. Trent Williams is big, obviously. He will be back at some point. My guess is late November. believe Shanahan will scheme it up coming off a loss. I can't see them dropping a one and three. I'm on San Fran tonight. Who you got? Rams, don't feel great about it.

Ooh, a little head to head. You got a score? I think it's a low scoring game. I think the pass rush, I think the Rams offensive line without Brian Al in the center is not quite as strong. The Monday Magic 8-ball says, signs point to yes. And there's, yes, it says signs point. Listen, Keenan Allen, Roshan. Slater, Joey Bosa. You know, they've had injuries. Also, the schedule gets very easy.

Browns, Broncos, Seahawks, buy, Falcons. There are times in the NFL when you can see, okay, that's time to make some hay. So, you know, the Broncos and a Raiders in division right now, J. Mack, you don't love them. I thought Herbert yesterday. Healthier Herbert was spectacular. So I would say yes. Okay. What about the Denver Broncos?

All right. Magic Cape ball. It says, do not count on it. Very, very discouraging. Giovante Williams running back out, 29th rank scoring offense, most penalized team. Also, remember, the end of the year, their schedule is brutal. They get Kansas City a couple times. They've got to go to the Ravens.

And right now, they just have no sort of identity offensively. I've said this multiple times today. folks, we've seen it before where a coordinator gets a job. You're seen it at Oklahoma. And your fans, you want so badly for the work. And they just look like they're a coordinator. And that's why they were a coordinator. 75% of coordinators fired as coaches after a three and four year run.

Like, it doesn't work for a lot of guys. Denver's in trouble. You know, I know a real estate agent in Denver, if he's interested, hack it. Will the Baltimore Ravens make the playoffs? All right. magic eight ball. It says it points to yes. It signs point to yes.

They still are averaging 29.8 points a game. Lamar still leads the NFL and touchdowns. They're very well coached. Now they've blown a couple of 17 point leads. Again, Miami down in Miami is tough. Buffalo, who are you blown a lead to? When you lose to Philadelphia or Buffalo, I don't, I don't feel there's. a crisis. Now, they have lost seven straight one-score games. So are they becoming a team late in games you can't trust? I think that's fair. That was Buffalo, by the way, until yesterday. But I think in this division, Pittsburgh's in a rebuild mode. Cleveland's not very good right now.

I say yes. What about the Cincinnati Bengals? Will they make the playoffs? Most likely. Now, remember, Joe Burrow, no practice, didn't play in the preseason. awful week one. They're 2 and 0 since losing their first two games. For the record, Joe Burrow has only been sacked three times in two games. That's their big issue, right? Is the offensive line good? It is. Remember against Dallas, they really struggled in protection, but they didn't last week, and I feel good about him. Joe Burrow, six touchdowns, 1006 pass-er rating, no turnovers in the last three games. He had a major. surgery in the off season.

Really rocky against the Steelers in week one. He's settled down. He's composed. You've got to feel good. Here are the quarterbacks they faced. Mitch Trubisky, Cooper Rush, Joe Flacco, and Tua slash Teddy. Bengals are getting lucky, Colin. Come on. Will the Jacksonville

Jaguars make the playoffs? According to the Magic 8 ball. It's most likely. What? Bad division. Texans, Colts. They're the only AFC South team with a top 10 scoring offense and a top 10 defense. Same reason the Utah Uts are going to win the

Pac-12 because they can do it on both sides of the ball. This is a good, solid team. We're not saying it's a great team, not good enough to go to Philadelphia and win. And I'm probably not good enough to go and beat, you know, Buffalo or Baltimore, you know, as a road team. But they're moving the sticks. They got a good front seven. I like them. All right. I don't know if the Magic A ball works for bad teams, but the New York Giants, are they playoff bound? Ask again later. Give me a break. Is that real?

Yeah, I mean, will the Cowboys make the playoffs? Which one are you want? Giants. Giants is Ask again later as well. So both their quarterbacks are dinged up. So that's a little bit of a problem. There are three wins that come against the Titans, Panthers, and Bears. None of those have winning records.

But they are three and one, but they've been outscored by their opponents. So you talk about Lucky with Cincinnati. Andy, I think here's the feeling in New York today. You feel like you got the coach right. He's getting the most out of an offensive line with one great starter, a second-tier quarterback, a running back off injury. You have to feel good. Listen, we don't think they're a great team.

That doesn't mean, though, your coach isn't getting the most out of it. There you go. All right, let's go to the Arizona Cardinals. Will the Arizona Cardinals make the playoffs? outlook's not so good. Okay. Yeah, that sounds about right. Okay.

Well, they've been outscored 66 to 16 in the first half. Do you know they have not scored a point in the first quarter? Now, what's interesting about that, what was the off-season story? Kyler's not prepared. He doesn't put the work in. And they're not scoring a point in the first quarter. So you have this, these two elements that are converging now. They're not prepared and they don't look prepared to start a game.

That's the opposite of Baltimore where they have a great coach and a hardworking quarterback. Baltimore is great early. And then they have limitations later. But in the NFL, if you lead at half, you win 70% of your games. I think the team that scores first wins 70% of their games. So it doesn't matter how talent you are. If you're playing from a deficit, the chances of you winning dramatically change Arizona trails against everybody they play. Right. Minnesota Vikings, will they make the playoffs?

They're now three and one, Colin, looking good for our season. Hey, London. Total. Yeah. They got a little lucky. I had the saints. I had the saints. That was a bad call by me. Without a doubt.

Without a doubt. Oh, well, let's be honest. Here's their upcoming schedule. Bears, dolphins, cardinals, commanders. Win, win, win, win. I think so. And it could be the dolphins without Tua. Again, they play one-score games.

Here's the way I would describe the Vikings. They're not good enough to blow out quality teams. They're good enough to compete with everybody. That's why over the last two years, the Minnesota Vikings have been in more close games, 14, 1-score games, than any team in the league. They can hang with anybody, but unlike a Buffalo or a Kansas City or a Rams on a good night,

they can't blow anybody away. I mean, everything feels like it's in doubt. So I think you get a very consistent effort, which is in every game, and they win, I think, this year more close games than they did last year. Last one for the Magic 8 ball. Your favorite team in the league, the Green Bay Packers, will they make the playoffs? We'll know what the Magic 8 ball is made of. Most likely. Oh, geez.

Now, let's be honest. They're the only team of the winning record and a negative turnover differential. So that's, they're sloppy. So right now they're playing sloppy football and also they're in the process of developing young receivers. That should get better over the course of time. They're 3 and 0 since losing to the Vikings. I think a lot of this is pretty explainable is that Aaron is sort of relying on a run game in defense. He said yesterday after the game, this is not sustainable.

I do think it will get better. Romeo Dobbs is talented. He gets open. He's got the drops. He fumbled yesterday early. Dropped the touchdown late. It was a choppy day for him. But in the end, I think some of this Green Bay stuff,

I predicted they'd be a wildcard team. It's predictable. You knew September was going to be uneven based on their young receivers from small colleges. How about this? Monday Magic 8 ball, you know, probably a hit on the internet. What if we instituted a Wednesday Ouija board I guarantee you, Aaron Rogers would love that.

Oh, okay. He would definitely be into Ouija boards. I mean, the guy does, what's the drug? I always butcher it when I try to say it. Yeah, it starts with an A. Iowaska. Iowaska. Yeah, yeah.

Thank you to the producer in my ear. Yeah. No, I think, ask yourself this. There's one or two teams. I would say there's about three teams in the league we do believe has the potential when it's really rolling to be great. Buffalo, Kansas City, when it's really rolling. I think there's a bunch of teams that we think they,

They're really good, but can Philly sustain it? Can Baltimore be better? But I mean, I don't feel like there's a consistently great team in the league. I don't, not this morning. I think Kansas City's top end and Buffalo's top end are one and two. I take the Chiefs because they've been better in close games. So I think if you took everybody's best shot, the best team in the league is Kansas City, Buffalo two. Right now, I think Philly.

three, maybe best shot Tampa, L.A. Tampa's not there yet. They're getting healthy. Yes, same of the Rams. But you know last week I would just throw quarterbacks at you and you'd pick who's better. We didn't do high end. Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes? They're both great. I think. No, no, remember, you got to pick one. Well, Mahomes will last longer because he doesn't take the beating of Josh Allen. And I also think arm angles. Also, I think Mahomes has Andy Reid. One has a defensive coordinator. So I think in the end, I think Josh Allen's going to be a lot like Big Ben. I think he's going to have a great 10 years, and then

it's going to get, you're going to see a decisive, definitive erosion due to taking too many hits. And then one more from the peanut gallery online. These people send me this stuff all the time. They're saying Colin was talking up Davis Mills all weekend. I know. I did not.

I did one tweet. Okay. That's all weekend. It was one impulsive tweet after a nice drive. Yeah. So Davis Mills or Aaron Rogers. I had to call it. Come on, Aaron Rogers.

What I said is, if you're Houston, because they have nothing to work with, they have Laramie Tunzel, I mean, Brandon Cooks has bounced around the league for a reason. Everybody knows it. Sean Payton let him go. Belichick let him go. McVeigh let him go. Three of the best coaches last 10 years in the league. Let him go.

He's fine. That's not, in the NFL, he should be a three on a good team. He would be a three on Kansas City, on the top teams. He's not a one. He's really not a two. when Sean Payton and McVeigh let you go, you're a three, an expensive three. But ask yourself, you know, so I guess my point is, if you're Houston next year and you're in a rebuild, do you give Davis Mills one more shot?

Well, they're the only team, I think, without a win in the league, 03 and 1. So if they have the number one pick, you've got to decide. Do you want C.J. Stroud or... Do you want to start over at quarterback? My takeaway is, if you don't love any of the quarterbacks, I would just load up, I would load up on my roster and give Mills one more shot. What's the urgency? I mean, I just feel like Davis Mills deserves.
