This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey,
or my career in sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast,
The Clifers Show.
This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes,
creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard,
but celebrated.
So let's get to it.
Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
And for more behind the scenes,
follow at Clifford and at TikTok's podcast network on TikTok.
On the Look Back at it podcast.
For 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84's big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year,
unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians,
and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hardway with your favorite therapist and host Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit are armed?
It signals to the world that you're not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.
Listen to learn the hard way on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.

So we do have one game left in the Labor Day weekend extravaganza of college football
coming up later on tonight. Florida State, everybody's favorite crybaby is back.
They will be on display against Boston College. That game will kick off 7.30 Eastern Time.
And if you've got DirecTV, good luck.
Oh, darn.
Good luck.
Because they are in the midst of a battle.
Our DirecTV and Disney, as I'm sure many people found out,
trying to watch the game in the U.S. Open last night.
Yeah, look, you know, they're a little, little back and forth.
A little feistyness.
For control.
But we started off the show talking about USC's big win over LSU.
It's a big win.
You know, kind of different-looking USC than what we.
we've seen in years past, but the same
old LSU that we've seen in years
past, which is a problem. Losing week
one, Brian Kelly frustrated,
pounding the table
afterwards, just really
upset about his team losing that game
a game they felt like they should have won.
Now, that being said,
if you just look at the weekend
in college football as a whole,
it gave you
everything you've come to know
about week one and love
about week one in college football.
You add sloppy play, maybe some unexpected results.
The underdogs with a fantastic week, for those you that like to go to the window and gamble a little bit,
our friends on Draft Kings, the underdogs did really, really well.
The unders on the point totals did really, really well.
Jared Smith, Fox Sports Radio host, gave me that information over the weekend.
So good weekend for the unders, good weekend for the underdogs.
you got to see a lot of mistakes being made.
You got to see weather have an impact.
Penn State and West Virginia, that was wild to see that.
Over two hours. Unbelievable.
Over two hours.
We got to see everything that week one in college football offers,
and it just goes back to the conversation about,
look, if you're not going to have preseason games,
I do give credit to all of these schools that take
on legitimate opponents. I don't care
if it's a neutral site. I don't care whatever it is.
Like Penn State going to Morgantown, that's
not an easy game, especially
week one. And so
whenever there's a team that schedules
a quote-unquote cupcake or
schedules somebody from a lower division
or something like that, week one, I'm never
judgmental of it because I always
look at it and go, probably the smart
play considering all of the other
factors that come up when you haven't played a game
in months. Notre Dame went into
college station. It's a big win.
Hell yeah.
Hell yeah.
I mean, just watching college football this weekend
and seeing some of these major matchups, LSU,
A&M and Notre Dame,
you know, Penn State and in West Virginia.
I mean, I was texting you guys, you on Q.
I thought it was funny that Linerd and Urban chose West Virginia to win
and by like large margins too.
It's kind of like, I like it when you have a week one where you just, you have games where you just do not know who's going to win and who's going to lose.
I like when you have both ranked teams, teams that are coming into week one that both have rankings in the top 25.
I like those games.
I just, I like seeing, I like seeing the underdogs play well, play hard.
I mean, Hawaii, I didn't get a chance to really see it.
but just watching the updates on the game,
I mean, that was pretty interesting.
You know, there weren't too many other upsets
that took place in the top 25
unless it was a top 25 team
that they were playing against,
but I didn't see too many, you know,
too many underdogs winning.
Yeah.
But I really like this year's.
I feel like the energy surrounding this year season
is a lot higher.
It's a lot more electric because of the stimulation
from expanding the playoff, the playoff bracket.
I also wonder that as well too.
Maybe we're more conditioned to look at a team losing week one in college football
and being like, oh, God, that's it.
Like you lose one game.
Like now you're really up against it.
Where with the expanded playoffs, now there's going to be more opportunity to get in.
Like now there's going to be better opportunities for you to try and get in
and be a part of the whole thing.
And, you know, Brady made the point, you know, last week when we were talking on our show,
two pros and a cup of Joe during the week, that, look, if Penn State, if the college football
playoff had been around this expanded version, Penn State would have made it like the last six years or whatever it was.
Like, they would have made it a lot.
And so I just think that door has opened up the possibility for all sorts of fun and chaos that we get towards the end of the season.
So maybe these week one losses aren't as bad.
as maybe what we're used to in years past.
Well, but the stakes are still high, right?
Like you're trying to get, again, into the playoffs, for one.
Then you're also trying to get a buy week.
You're also trying to get a home game.
So the stakes are high.
And listen, I think with expanding the playoff bracket
and also growing these major conferences,
the stakes go up in terms.
of what success looks like.
Success is still the same.
It's winning.
It's winning more than anybody else in your conference.
But with that being said, you have so many new characters
that have been introduced to everything that's going on.
So to me, when we look at the breakdown of what this season looks like
and how it may or may not play out,
I don't think anybody can actually realistically come up.
with a prognosis or prognostication of what's going to take place with what we got going on with
this team so or with these teams yeah well it's um tear me up oh sorry about that yeah it's all right
it's all right i'm not the best concentrator when i hear other things that's all right uh so i just look at
it and i go yeah there could be some different conversations we're having towards the end and at the
end of the year. But you know the same conversation
we're always having. What's that? George's pretty
good. They were pretty good.
And I just, it's funny
because Florida State plays later on tonight,
and we've talked about this before, where
look, Florida State can complain
about not getting into the playoff last year all they
want. Georgia's lost
one game in over
a thousand days. Yeah.
Like that is a dominant
college football program who
gave Clemson a beating
over the weekend. Like,
Their ability to just roll out great talent.
And for Kirby Smart to just roll out a juggernaut every single year at Georgia really says something.
Like they're the new Alabama, it almost feels like.
Like they were, even before Alabama was, and I know Alabama beat him in the SEC title game last year.
But what he's got that program doing, and you see that in comparison to where Davos-Swinnies got Clemson and just his pushback on NIL and this new college football.
It's two completely different futures it looks like for both of those.
Well, and it played out in the game, right?
I mean, they rolled them up.
They rolled them boys up, man.
I mean, they beat them up like they weren't a superpower at some point in time.
And I thought the Miami-Florida game was super entertaining.
I thought that was super fun.
What does that represent?
They got a quarterback in Miami.
They went into Gainesville and ran them boys.
How about Mario Cristobal?
doing the gator chomp and breaking it over his knee.
Oh, you know, he played for it, Miami.
Like, I think they hadn't won in Gainesville in like 28 years or something like that.
Like, it had been a long time since it went up there and got a win.
And then for Florida, Billy Napier, I mean, look, I will never call and say somebody should lose their job or a coach should be fired.
I'll never do that because I've been fired in radio and let go it sucks.
So I'll never do that.
I'll just say this.
it does feel like
Billy Napier's up against it this year
at Florida. He came in the year they were sub-500.
I'm going to rattle off to you
the schedule in November for the Florida Gators.
And, LeVar, you tell me how this sounds to you.
Oh, it's the one of the hardest, if not the hardest.
It's like one of the hardest I've ever seen in my life.
So to start off the month of November,
they've got Georgia, then they're at Texas,
they've got LSU at home, then Ole Miss, and then at Florida State to wrap up the year.
Now, before, I mean, there's a road game against Tennessee as well, too.
Who the hell knows what they've got, you know, at Mississippi.
Like, Florida and Billy Napier feel like that was a big one to lose the first week of the season.
Because if you just look at that gauntlet down the stretch, I mean, you're probably going to lose at least a couple of those, if not all of those.
And now you couple that with the performance in week one.
And yeah, week ones maybe don't have the impact from a college football
playoff standpoint that maybe they once did just because of the expanded playoffs.
But that loss for Florida feels like that could be factored in down the stretch with the struggles lately.
I mean, of course it's going to be factored in.
I mean.
They lost to Miami, bro.
Like you can't lose to Miami.
If you're in Florida and you're a.
Florida team, you can't lose to another
Florida team. It just hurts you in recruiting.
But
there's a, obviously
there's a tradition connected to that.
You know, to the, to the,
there's somewhat of a rivalry that's
between Miami and
you know, against the
Florida Gators. I just
to me, to me, I think
it's going to be hard for Florida
to thrive
in
in this
scenario. I think it's
going to be hard for Davo Sweeney
like it could be it for him
I mean it's just there are
again with all of the excitement
that comes with this new season
and knowing that the
the playoff is wide open
now it is wide open for business
that wide openness
is going to cost some people
their jobs because how are you not
able to connect
how are you not able to
get us in to the playoffs
when they expanded the field?
Yeah.
Now I'm looking for, now that opens up the gate for the best coaches to get picked up by these schools.
That feel as though they have the type of, they have the type of players that can get them into the playoffs.
They just need a coach.
Davoswini seems like a guy, and I could be totally misreading this, but he strikes me as a guy who's just kind of like, yeah, I'll do the best I can, but whatever.
Like, almost like, look, the game is completely changed.
I don't like what this is now.
And he's trying to say all the right things.
Like he was talking recently and just saying how, look, I've had a lot of opportunities to go other places.
There's a lot of people throughout the Alabama name out there because I played at Alabama.
Would I be a successor to Nick Sabin?
But, you know, there's no better place or no better person to lead Clemson right now in this era than me.
You know, I don't talk about all these other opportunities.
But like when you come out afterwards and say, you know, I've had all these opportunities.
to go either places and I haven't left.
And then you're on a coach's show this offseason
and a guy calls in and starts giving you a hard time
about your lack of success recently with the amount of money that you make.
And he says, look, if they're not happy with me here,
they can tell me to go at any time.
That's fine.
Like, if they're not, like, basically just saying,
look, I've brought this program to relevancy.
I should be appreciated for it.
And if that's not the case, screw it.
Like, I'll just go elsewhere.
it feels like somebody who's, I don't want to say on
just kind of like, listen, we're up against it.
I don't know that we can find a way out of this
and we feel like we're falling further and further back.
And maybe at some point it's just going to be time to go our separate ways.
Like he's done everything he could.
Like Clemson is relevant because of Davos-Switty.
Like they were in a really rough spot when he got there.
I can remember working in South Carolina.
doing radio out there.
And the conversation about Dabo Swinney back then,
as opposed to what it was 10 years later, completely different.
And maybe there is something to the fact that he didn't want to be the successor to Nick Sabin.
Because look, Kailin DeBore and Alabama was a little slower early on,
but then they put together a hell of a performance over the weekend.
But maybe Davoswini does look at it and go,
I don't want to be the successor to Sabin,
but I'm not close-minded to being the successor to the successor.
maybe that's a little bit easier.
That is easier.
Unless the successor is somebody that ends up winning like
what saving did.
Ryan Day isn't the easiest guy to success.
You know what I mean?
To Urban Meyer, I mean, it could all work against you.
It could all work against you.
You got a great situation at Clemson.
You got to be able to adapt and adjust to the times.
And I think that that's ultimately what it comes
down to for every program at the Power 5 level, you're going to have to adapt and to adjust
to what this new NIL era has introduced to college football.
Yeah, but it's great to have college football back, I'll tell you that.
It definitely is.
Hey, give me your weather delays all you want.
Mother Nature just kicking us in the nuts in Morgantown, and it was awesome to watch.
I think there was like there was potentially a tornado that was going to, oh, my guess,
just so awesome.
Like you just saw the clouds.
It was just.
I'm a weather nerd.
I love this stuff.
And it just, it's the symbol of football season being here.
I've already said it.
There's going to be a game delayed because of weather this weekend in the NFL.
I'll call my shot right now.
What are the dolphins playing the Jaguars?
Not a shot in hell that game gets through without there being one weather delay.
Lightning, thunder, all that fun stuff with week one of the football season.
By the way, if you want to enjoy football season even more, we recommend Draft Kings.
This show is sponsored by Draft Kings.
Stay tuned because you'll hear more about Draft Kings and all of it.
it has to offer throughout the show. Draft Kings,
the crown is yours.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jette.
And I'm Alex English.
We pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing
and we're still chasing it
and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person
while you hear on earth,
or are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels.
of trust. I want you to just really be a good person.

It's the herd here, Fox Sports Radio.
Levara Arrington, Jonas Knox with you here on a Labor Day edition of the herd here,
which you can listen to on the IHeart Radio app.
and you can also listen to us in about 20 minutes from now
tell you about somebody who may have learned their lesson
tried to start a little something last year in the NFL
learned their lesson
we'll explain why that is coming up here
about 20 minutes from now here on FSR
so we've talked about this on our show
which by the way you can hear weekday morning 6 a.m. Eastern time
3 o'clock Pacific myself
LeVar Erington and Brady Quince called two pros
and a cup of Joe every single weekday morning
and we've talked about this new kickoff that the NFL's like come up with that they, you know,
threw in during the preseason to try and increase returns.
And it's basically going to turn into teams are just going to kick the ball out of the end zone.
If your starting position is like the 28-yard line and if you kick it out of the end zone,
you don't have to worry about a return and teams are just going to get it at the 30-yard line.
What's the difference?
It's like a yard and a half depending on the numbers and what you look at.
And so somebody who is not a big fan of one aspect to the kickoff is Bill Cower.
Bill Cower was speaking with CBS Sports recently, and he was talking about the surprise on-site kick.
Look, that was part of what they used in the Super Bowl.
You know, your favorite Super Bowl of all-time, LeVar, the Neil O'Donnell Super Bowl.
Oh, that's the one.
Super Bowl 30 in Arizona, where he basically got, was it Larry Brown?
He basically got him a big-time contract from the Raiders because he was just...
Yeah, didn't he get MVP at a game?
Probably.
I think he did.
Yeah.
That was, by the way, that was the last Super Bowl for that Cowboy team.
Was that 94?
96.
96.
Last Super Bowl for that Cowboy team.
And so Bill Coward just spoke about, you know, he didn't like the fact that the surprise
onside kick is now gone.
Like, you've got to let everybody know if you're going to be doing an onside kick.
There's no surprise onsite.
I just, I look at it and I go, I was all for returns.
And I don't ever want to see the kickoff go away from the NFL.
And I know people go, well, it's kind of a waste of play.
Why don't you just start?
And all it is is, you know, kind of a ceremony you'll play at this point in time.
But based on what we've seen of it thus far, it sucks.
Like, and if one of the drawbacks of that is also that now you're going to lose the surprise onside kick,
with the season right around the corner.
I just look at it and I go,
maybe I'll be proven wrong,
but from what I've seen,
it doesn't look like football.
There was a point in one game this preseason
where I didn't even know who was getting the ball.
Like I'm looking at and I go, wait, so who's kicking,
who's doing what?
Like, just the whole lineup, the formation is weird.
The surprise onsite kick is gone to Bill Cowher's point.
And I just wonder, at some point or another,
it looked fun in college football.
I look fine in high school football
I just really did
there were returns
that took place
I just you know
what are you doing
at some point you got to get to the point where you're like
what are you doing
you know what are you doing
Brady made the point
Belichick has made this point
you know why don't you just move the kickers back
like you know have them kick off from farther back
the 25 or you know the 20
wherever it is I mean the way these guys
are kicking balls now like if you can kick
it out of the end zone at that point.
Congratulations.
Only problem with that is
how do you kick an onside?
Do you, because I don't think
you move back the coverage.
Do you? Do you move back the coverage as well?
Yeah. So the onside kick would be
the same way you would do the onside kick.
You would just be farther back
from where the kicking point is.
Oh, so you're going to do 10 yards from
where the kicking point is. Yeah.
So you're going to move the coverage guys back as well.
Yeah. So you would
like in that way you would
open up the surprise onside would come back.
If you mess up that onsite, that's definitely big time.
Oh, yeah.
Like, it's a real problem.
But it's a risky play.
Like, you're trying to get the ball back.
And if you don't get the ball back, you're going to suffer because they'll recover
and it's going to be deep in your own territory on top.
By that point, I mean, you know, if it's a planned onside, what does it matter?
Because you were losing the game anyways.
But if it was a surprise onside and you don't recover it, yeah, to your point, you're
screwed.
But it's a risky.
play. It was risky when Cowher did it
with the Steelers. It was risky
when the Saints did it in their Super Bowl against
the Colts. That's a risky play, but
that plays not even a part of this.
And I was okay with that. Like, all right, listen,
it's not the greatest in the world, but
if it means more returns overall,
then whatever. There's a
surprise on-site kick, what a handful of times
each season, big deal.
But now that I've seen what it is,
there's got to be a better way. This just
doesn't work, man. Like, it
looks terrible. I'm
told you I don't like it. I feel like it's too gimmicky.
I know that there's this continued
commitment to making the game
to making the game safer
and doing all of the things that need to be done
making the game safer.
It just
at some point
how do you
how do you continue to legislate the game
where you're making it safer to benefit the players
by it being safer but you're compromising the game?
And I think it's a hard question.
It's not an easy question to answer
because you're looking at how real some of these injuries are,
the CTE deal that players deal with.
I was just watching a documentary on Aaron Hernandez, another one.
They said his hit was so jacked up when they looked at his brain.
I just, you know, to me, I get the realities that are surfacing
surrounding the health of some of these guys who play the game.
So I think that it makes it a very, very difficult, at times,
a difficult spot to be in if you're,
trying to create a safer environment but still keep the sport entertaining,
especially when they've come under as much fire and as scrutiny as they did
when the concussion movie came out and everybody started trying to, you know,
really villainize what football represented.
I mean, football has gone through a lot.
And so to me, I think that we've always seen the NFL be very proactive
in how the public reacts to what's going to.
on out there and I think they've continued to try to make the game safer ever since this whole
concussions epidemic and then the rising of CTE and all those things.
It's like I look at it like this.
Kids shouldn't play with knives.
Yeah.
Well, there's a reason why we still have knives in our house because it doesn't mean that I
stop playing with them.
Like I have to cut my steak, I'm going to use a knife.
Like if I have to cut, I'm going to use a knife.
But my son's not going to.
It's like you just understand that certain people can and certain people can't.
And the way I look at it, and especially doing a show with you and Brady Quinn, I always look at it like this.
You guys can do what 99% of the public can't.
I played high school football.
I was atrocious.
I recognized early, oh, I'm just not built for this.
It's not happening.
Like it just was what it was.
And I think at a certain point, you either, you accept the terms and,
conditions that come with the job and you accept the terms and conditions that come with
look it's a dangerous sport there dangerous things are going to happen it's sanctioned violence
and for you understand that there's going to be things that happen that aren't planned there's
going to be injuries there's injuries in practice whatnot but you can't just make it all the
way safe like you can't just like the guardian caps on the helmets and practice like they've
done as much as they can't
if you're trying to get rid of collisions in the sport, which is what the kickoff was,
then we're talking about a completely different sport.
Are we not?
I mean, we are.
That's what it is.
I just think that, I think the NFL is in a hard spot.
They're trying to expand games.
They're trying to expand the borders of the game.
I mean, I haven't seen any tragic injuries take place so far.
Not in college, not here.
I don't know that that's true.
I didn't see every game,
but I haven't seen any catastrophic injuries really take place.
I mean, I guess we'll start to see how it's going to go down this week.
But, you know.
Like, and sorry to interrupt, Max Johnson, the quarterback for North Carolina.
So he suffered the broken leg, Brad Johnson's son.
Yeah.
I'll bet if you asked him, do you regret playing?
Hell no.
It's part of like it comes with it.
Yeah, I just, I think there.
a broken bone stuff like that.
I think people can stomach that.
I think what scares people the most is the brain.
I just really think that that's what parents are thinking.
That's what moms are thinking.
That's what former players are thinking.
They're thinking about the brain.
And to me, I think that's a legitimate concern to have
when thinking about the game.
But with that being said,
I think that instead of trying to create so many plays
that take away the physicality of the game,
just place more of a premium on doing things the right way.
I mean, don't be hypocritical.
I see some things that take place on the field.
If it was really about protecting and the safety of some of these guys
or these guys out here on the field,
you wouldn't allow for some of the things that are done to be done.
You know, the ways some of these offensive linemen block is not okay.
The fact that offensive player can grab a guy,
face mask and stiff arm the hell out of them.
And it's considered to be a face mask if the defender does it.
If you touch a quarterback's face mask on defense, it's a 15-yard penalty.
That's the one, like the grazing of the face mask.
I just think that there's some things that there is a double standard that is obviously there.
And I don't understand why there's a double standard there if you're really indeed trying to
make the game a safer game. Guys holding guys the way that they're holding them these days,
it's not making it a safer game. Okay, do you remember, and this is putting you on the spot,
but do you remember the worst call you were ever called for? Like, was there like you got
called for a personal foul? I know I got fine, and it was the worst finding that I had got. I hit
Brad Johnson in a preseason game, and I think I cracked his ribs, and they fined me, 15 Gs after the
game. I didn't get a, I don't believe I got a penalty. It was a legal hit. I just, I, I hit him.
I mean, I got all of him, too. As he was releasing the ball or what? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I got him.
I got him good. So what was the fine for? I hit him too hard. Yeah. That was what I got fined for.
And not, and not. I, I generally, the fines that I was getting was that I was hitting dudes too
hard. I was hitting.
I was out there hitting guys.
I was bodying them. Like some guys
said they was body in them. I was really
bodying dudes. And I was getting
fine for it. Like 15,000.
Like that's unnecessary roughness
or whatever. Whatever it is, they were fine
in me. 15 Gs.
I remember one year I was the
highest fine guy until
the crackback block or
the hit
on a quarterback by Hugh Douglas
got him all in one
against Chicago
it made him the highest fine dude
in the league off of that one play
up until then
based off of the way I was playing
I was the highest fine dude
so what does that look like you get every
every week you just get what like a FedEx envelope
and they've already taken it from your check
it's very very disturbing
it's upsetting it's disturbing
it's just it's not cool at all
the way they do it
and you got to a pit
it you appeal it but it's just kind of like okay y'all up to like 30 40 50 60 gs on me right now
we're like oh it goes to a charity like yeah but oh it goes to the charity uh i think they said
of either your choice yeah paul tagli boo's back pocket i mean whatever it is i mean 60 some gs
man how much did you get how much you get fine in your career do you remember no a bow can we
look that up can you can you google search um how much lavare arrington was
find because whatever it was that even exists
I just got to be like there's a there's a number
on everything because whatever it was I don't think it was enough
based on the way I think it's reckless
the way he's talking about some of these players he bodied
tired of this crap and I refuse to let Hugh Douglas be the
more fine player over Lamar Erington so we could find out how much
you've been fined if I got fined $15,000
I'll pump those numbers up those are rookie numbers
let me tell you something if I get if like Scott Shapiro
or Don Martin called me and said hey we're finding you $15,000
I'd literally like sell all my son's toys and just empty out.
Like he would come home to nothing.
Nothing.
Because of you?
Yeah.
15 G,
I got to get that money back.
So you're going to punish your kid?
Why don't you get rid of that truck?
That truck ain't worth 15 Gs though.
Yeah, that's what do you mean?
15 grand.
Your toys work more than them.
By the way, like I put a $20 bill in the dash to try and get somebody to take that
truck.
Nobody will take it.
So like, yeah, there's nothing, you know, it's just like that's got to be a
immoralizing feeling. You go out there, you play
your ass off and then all of a sudden you get noticed.
Oh, by the way, your check's going to be a little lighter this week.
That sucks. Also,
how many Aaron Hernandez documentaries have there been?
A lot.
There's a lot. And I think there's a lot because there are,
to me, they feel like there's more pieces of the puzzle
that are coming out as to why things
went the way that they went or how they happened,
I guess.
because this last one
this last one that I looked at
really went into his like his sexuality
and that whole idea
and him struggling with his
identity and
you know acting out and all kinds of different things
I mean they were really trying to paint them
in a very very
when you have a little bit of sympathies
or empathy for someone
they tried to make them a sympathetic figure
in the one
all right it was on
It was on television.
It's playing on like ID or something like that.
I was watching it.
What is it?
No, I was just going to say, do you think there's more Pete Rose documentaries or more Aaron Hernandez
documentaries?
Hernandez at this point.
I think it's Hernandez at this point.
I think Pete Rose can catch up, though.
Maybe.
There is a new one out on them.
What is it?
Like the kid called Billy or something like that?
What was it?
Something like that.
No, I know you're talking about it.
called Casino.
Yeah, I've seen that movie before.
Pete Rose could have been in that movie.
What's his name?
Joe Pesci.
You know, I mean, Pete Rose.
I mean, either one of them could have played that spot, you know?
Yeah, the Aaron Hernandez, I mean, I just, I look at them.
They're trying to put it on CTE, though.
I mean.
They are trying to put what he was doing.
They're trying to put that on CTE.
I mean, a lot of people have played football.
There's not a lot that have, you know, murdered people, you know.
And have a violent past.
Yeah.
Like that.
Like, I mean.
Like, that dude was going all in.
Like, I haven't seen the documentary.
We were talking about Florida and Billy Napier being maybe in some trouble there in Gainesville.
I haven't seen the Netflix on the Florida Gators, but I heard it's good.
That's good.
Yeah.
Because that was a wild team with Aaron Hernandez on.
it. Yeah.
So, yeah, I mean, listen, NFL, you get to pick, pick what you're going to pick. Do what you're going to do.
Figure out what game you want to have. But if you want some headphones, there's only one game in
town. And that's J-Lab. And I just discovered J-Lab headphones and I am hooked.
J-Lab has the best audio products in the game and they're ready to take care of you this football season.
So find the blue box at Walmart, Target, Best Buy and more, or visit jelab.com. So coming up next here in the
herd line news. We're going to tell you how somebody in the NFL may be the greatest to ever do it
learned their lesson. That's yours next. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in
noon eastern 9 a.m. Pacific. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full
year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle
growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMs? Or when Kanye said that
George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush
got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the look back at it.
podcast. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point,
Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a
through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. So.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross.
Because you find it important to be a good person
while you hear on earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions,
Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person.

No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
All right, Beau Benson, what are we got?
ahead of Thursday's NFL kickoff game between the Baltimore Ravens and the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Ravens kicker Justin Tucker chose not to readdress the incident that took place between him and some cheese players, notably Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey,
moving his equipment during warm-ups last year before the AFC championship game,
telling reporters that all I'll say about it is I'm excited to go into a great environment,
play against a great football team with great players, great coaches, and do everything I can to prepare myself to be ready to contribute to
the Ravens winning a football game, and that's all I've got to say about it.
I mean, it's the greatest of all time to ever do it at his position.
Justin Tucker deserves respect, and instead, the Chiefs bullied him last year.
I mean, he's a kicker.
Damn.
How much trash talk can you do as a kicker?
Damn.
I'm just saying.
What else is he going to say?
I'm going out there to take heads.
You didn't know a kicker that could throw down?
You may just tell me you would have...
I got grabbed by my face mask and by my...
Miami kicker, a punter because
Reggie Robey? I was beating up
punters. I don't remember his name.
Todd Sowerbren? I don't, no,
I wasn't Todd. I don't remember his name.
But he grabbed my face mask and start
doing the lights out on my face mask.
You let him get away with that?
I had to put my hands up because
I was hitting, I was
assassinating punters.
So at this point, the
referees were watching me.
So when I went, when I ran up,
I wasn't even going to hit him. He runs over
to me grabs me by my face mask and starts shaking my face mask. So there is that. I mean, there is
the chance that a punter could actually try to, you know, use martial law or something like that
out there on the field. You see, I would have had you find just for forcing a punter to act so
crazy in retaliation. I was in college. I was in college. You couldn't find me. Yeah.
But I'm with you. I was acting bad towards punters. It made me a national back.
guy, by the way. I was like a media
sweetheart, and after that
turned me into a media
yeah, I was
an enemy, an evil
guy, a villain. By the way,
Bo, did we find out the total number of fines
from the law and his career? Yeah, he cannot find it. It's been
scrubbed from the internet. There you go.
That was a lot. It was like
50, 60 grand.
Jeez.
That's like five of my trucks.
Bro, I was upset, man.
I was upset. I was not.
happy about it. It's a lot of money. It's a lot of money.
It's unfortunate. What else we got?
Embattled Florida coach, Billy Napier, he took some shots at certain fans after the Gators
4117 loss to Miami in the swamp on Saturday.
We got to go to work on the football part, you know, and I think we got to get more,
we got to become a more consistent team, and we have to execute better.
And if we can focus on those things and not necessarily what some guy in his basement
saying in rural central Florida on social media,
then we got a chance to get better, right?
Yeah, listen, coach,
just go ahead and take a gander at that November schedule
and, you know, just start thinking about what's next
because it does feel like at an SEC school,
like there's zero patience.
They do not tolerate losing
and they do not tolerate losing consistently at an SEC school.
Already sub-500 coming into the year as well.
too. He is right, though. A dude be them
pajama, you know,
Wanderoo's
cereal eating. Mom, where's my meatloaf
dude? That'd be sitting there talking
the craziest head on social media, though.
By the way, you want to know one of my favorite
Brady Quinn stories, doing
the show with him? During COVID,
everybody was working from home.
And so somebody made a comment
on Twitter or something like that, because that was
back what it was called Twitter.
And Brady gave his
standard along those same lines.
Well, that's just, you know, some guys sitting in his mom's basement doing blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And the best part of that, all that was, because it was COVID, I was actually doing the show from my mom's garage.
Literally, from my mom's garage.
And he said, well, you know what I met?
I was like, that's fine.
But yeah, it is those same people who've got, you know, oatmeal spilled all over their shirt.
And they make the mistake every once in a while of actually letting one of them on a big show with a tremendously large platform.
By the way.
And his name is Jonas.
Damn.
Dang.
I work.
Hey, isn't they the Kobayashi Joey Chestnut battle today?
Isn't that happening today?
I think it is.
I think it's coming up very soon.
I'm going to go.
I can't eat any food today.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
I'm going to go get checked out tomorrow.
Yeah, you're going under center, huh?
I'm going to check my oil levels.
If you know what I mean.
Make sure everything, all systems is go.
Oh, wait.
I'm going to.
If you see LeVar wearing one sock tomorrow, now you know why.
Bye, y'all.
I mean, we can stay here.
Yeah, we'll stay here.
I can stay.
Yeah, I'm good with this.
How long y'all want to stay for?
You want to stay for an extra minute, an extra two minutes?
Yeah, this works for me.
An extra minute of content.
Hell yeah.
I mean, I got something left in me.
Yeah.
I mean, maybe not after tomorrow, after I go get my little checkup.
But, you know.
But what else we got to close up the show?
Gerard Mayo found the most convoluted way to say that Drake May is the backup
saying that if Jacoby Brissette gets hurt,
Drake May is 1,000% the next guy in.
Oh, boy.
I'm glad we cleared that out.
I thought talking about what I had going on was way more interesting than that,
that we just bought up, I'll tell you that.
And your back porch clean?
Yeah, man.
It's not getting clean.
They're just going to make sure that the...
Move all the furniture out.
Make sure everything is good.
