Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. Help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the ice.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast, Point Game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was crying.
Starting point is 00:01:18 You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Marquis come in to you, he's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the,
Starting point is 00:01:30 iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This week on Crimless, Rory and I welcome a very special guest. When I did podcasts, I wear my sleep masks. I like where this is going. So if you guys will indulge me. That's right, the incredibly talented and hilarious Will Ferrell on an episode dedicated to crimes committed by people named Will Ferrell. You're good for 300 crimes? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:56 We got two. I'm ready to go. right up to present day. Listen to Crimless on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And here's Heather with the weather. Well, it's beautiful out there, sunny and 75, almost a little chilly in the shade.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Now, let's get a read on the inside of your car. It is hot. You've only been parked a short time, and it's already 99 degrees in there. Let's not leave children in the back seat while running errands. It only takes a few minutes for their body temperatures to rise, and that could be fatal.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Cars get hot, fast, and can be deadly. Never leave a child in a car. A message from Nitsa and the Ad Council. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Find your local station for the herd at foxportsredio.com or stream us live every day in the IHeart Radio app
Starting point is 00:02:53 by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR. For listening to Fox Sports Radio, Peter Schrager was on earlier and all this stuff is very fluid. You know, the Ben Johnson is a really attractive name because offensive coaches, we can all see they're clever. Defensive coaches, let's be honest, you don't see the innovations. Sometimes the broadcaster will talk about it. But when Ben Johnson's doing a hook and lateral or he's doing a trick play, you can see it.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Everybody's like, that guy, that guy's got a different playbook. He, whoa. Aaron Glenn, to me, is doing more with less as the Lions defensive coordinator. He's had an amazing year. But defensive coaches, and I'm guilty of this, are not in favor. But I'm not opposed to Aaron Glenn, you know, getting the Jets job. To me, I'd be okay with it. But Schrager mentioned that Ben Johnson, because of the Caleb Williams growth concern,
Starting point is 00:04:00 Ben Johnson and the Bears keep your eye on it. Ben Johnson, from my sources, is interested in the job. That's all I would need to hear if I'm the Chicago Bears. Go get Caleb Williams, the hottest offensive coordinator in football the last three years. And if Ben Johnson's interesting, so I'll tell you, Ben Johnson is not interested in every job. Ben Johnson's not taking an interview with the Jets. Caleb Williams is very attractive to Ben Johnson. Go get that interview, and don't have you interview him.
Starting point is 00:04:26 This is the rare guy where you go in there and you say, Ben Johnson, let us an interview. interview you, but let us pitch ourselves to you and why. After you didn't entertain Carolina two years ago when that job most likely was his, you didn't entertain Washington last year, let us tell you why you should take this job, because I think there's an arrogance of some of these franchises, I'm not saying the bears are one of them, where they think that these coaches need to spill over and tell them why they need to be the next head coach. This is a rare instance. Ben Johnson's that dude, go and tell him that you're going to be that guy, you're going to be that team,
Starting point is 00:04:55 and you're going to support him. Yeah. Now, it should be duly noted that what he's, working with in Detroit. Ben Johnson's got guys like Penae Seul, Gough, Amaran St. Brown, two great backs, an elite center. He's got like seven guys that feel like they could get Hall of Fame votes. Okay, you're not getting that in Chicago, although I like DJ more a lot, Roma Dunzee. You don't have the same level of personnel. I like Cole Komet. But it is when you have elite personnel. I mean, I've said this with Kyle Shanahan, losing record in San Francisco without
Starting point is 00:05:29 Christian McCaffrey. It's a players league. Belichick, not the same coach without Brady. Andy Reid's one of the few has been getting to Super Bowls and getting to conference championships with middling quarterbacks and a variety of talent levels. Here's JMAQ
Starting point is 00:05:45 with the news. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. All right, let's open with the first playoff game Saturday and the Chargers. The vibes, they've been great since Jim Harbaugh took over for the Chargers. They are back in the playoffs. Justin Herbert knows things have been different for him and he gave an interesting answer when asked about the moment he knew
Starting point is 00:06:08 Harbaal was different. I think when he talked about remembering the day that he was born was probably the first day that he kind of told us about the whole story and how he remembered looking out the window and I think it was a cold, snowy day and I really hope he does remember that. That'd be pretty cool. I think my earliest memory is five years old. So Harbaugh's, he's working on a different plane than the rest of us. God, I like the Chargers. I really do.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Well, this has come off the three, so some money on Houston. You expected that. Home dogs historically in the playoff. I don't know. Listen, you and I don't, well, I don't bet trends, but there's a lot of wild card trends. Home underdogs historically have done well in this spot. I'm staying away from this game. I'm staying away from both L.A. teams.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Why? I don't have this certainty that you have that the Vikings are in big trouble against the Rams. Oh, there are huge stuff. Even though I think the Chargers are going to win, I don't want to be nervous watching this game. I just want to watch the game and enjoy it. I don't want to ruin my weekend. Two for the Money with Matthew McConaughey, the gambling movie. He's just on such a heater, and then he just comes in on like a Monday and picks every game on the board.
Starting point is 00:07:25 And they're like, you're picking on Mondays? That's weirdly how I felt about this week. I feel like I don't see what you're seeing in Vikings, and I don't see it in the Houston, Texas. I just... No, I think the Chargers are going to win, and I think the Vikings are going to win. So what are you afraid of?
Starting point is 00:07:38 You got Jim Harbaugh and Herbert. Better quarterback, better coach. Isn't that how you bet mostly? It's a road game, nervous. Houston's such a tough place to play Saturday afternoon. Next up, Seattle Seahawks, Colin. They missed the playoffs. You know, they led the division briefly there this season.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Head coach Mike McDonald's first year, mild success, but he's evaluating things and he knows there is one player he wants back. Take a listen. I want Gino to be here. I think he's a heck of a player. I'm going to do like what's the first thing always comes back for like for what's best for the team. I feel like Gino's the best for the team right now. And so I'll be involved with it. Ultimately, it's not my decision. It's a Seahawks decision. So. But Gino knows how we feel about them And we love them as our starting quarterback for sure All right Love McDonald, this feels like his first misstep, right?
Starting point is 00:08:38 Could have been naming the O.C. Who he fired, well, I don't know, I guess he fired the O.C. One year and fired him. But it's weird that they're like, hey, Gino, that's our guy. The O.C. didn't work out. Don't love it, but, you know, what do I know? Listen, he's in the building every day and he likes him. You're a Pacific Northwest guy.
Starting point is 00:08:55 I know. Believe me. I get texts every Sunday for my friend. And where are they on, Gino? They are hoping they make moves at quarterback. Kind of feel there's a ceiling. It's just a rough market for QBs. There's not a lot in the draft.
Starting point is 00:09:09 It's not a great year. That's why I keep saying you guys are all bailing on Aaron Rogers. Be careful. You may end up being the second best option out there. Give me the four wins again without Aaron Rogers. Our final story, Colin, you've said several times now. You think Brian Flores would be a good option for teams that need a head coach. Well, one of the guys who played for him thinks he may have a rough time finding references for his next job.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Flores has been a really hot name, and I think the further removed we get from his tenure in Miami, the more people kind of forget about how that ended. And the better his name becomes, I think in the interviews he'll be likable, he'll be relatable. but when people say, okay, give me somebody from Miami that coached under you as a reference so we can talk to them. I think he burned a lot of bridges there. I think he alienated himself from the entire staff.
Starting point is 00:10:06 I think by the end of his time there, he became a dictator. He ruined a lot of those relationships that he built up through the NFL. And his ego grew so big that there wasn't any room for anyone else. That's pretty rough. That's not good. Now, a lot of these guys who call games,
Starting point is 00:10:22 They don't have takes, right? You know, you're meeting with these teams and players and coaches. That's a strong take. That's a great take. When you have access as a player, that's what I'm looking for. Just be honest. He called him a dictator. Well, he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
Starting point is 00:10:37 I mean, Tua was a nice kid. Tua came out was highly critical of him. Too on low. And two is a wonderful kid. By all it counts, he's a nice kid. He's not real harsh. He came out and was very harsh against Brian Flores, which makes you wonder if Ryan Fitzpatrick is not nailing it.
Starting point is 00:10:52 More likely to return to Minnesota next year. Brian Flores or Sam Darmel. If Sam plays well Monday, they'll franchise tag him. If he beats the Rams, it's going to be hard to let him go. I don't care. It'd be hard to let a guy walk out the door off an MVP-level season. To me. Remember, Daniel Jones went into Minnesota, won a playoff game, and they gave him $40 million a year.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Well, we didn't feel the same way. Sam's been somebody athletic, a little reckless, but athletic, coachable, playmaker. I feel different about Sam than did. I like Flores back in Minnesota, and I think they're going to be really, I don't want to say Super Bowl contenders, but remember, if they go off Darnold and McCarthy's your quarterback, he ain't expensive. No. I like Minnesota going forward if they keep Flores. He's very good.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Good stuff, J-Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd-Ly News. Well, he is eligible for the Hall of Fame in 2026, and it just turned 2025, so he won't have much of a weight. 13-time Pro Bowl, or one of the time. top 10 quarterbacks I've ever seen. Drew Breez joining us live.
Starting point is 00:11:59 So I think we both like Bow Nix and Sean Payton. I think we both thought, this is going to work. If you've got to land somewhere, if you're Bo Nix, this is it. So here they are going into a playoff game. So I want you to go back to your first year with Sean. So Sean's intense. I can't even imagine what playoff Sean is like. Is it different?
Starting point is 00:12:19 Is playoff week with Sean, Drew, and you had a lot of them? is he a little different? You know, I wouldn't say that he's different, but he's definitely going to have something up his sleeve, you know? And I would say, look, he's still relatively new in his tenure there, obviously, you know, only his second year in Denver. But really, I would say this year based on a new quarterback and kind of like the first year in the system where everybody's really kind of, you know,
Starting point is 00:12:49 starting to embrace it now and moving forward. Like, he's going to look at this. this as like there's going to be something special this week or something unique this week that he kind of throws into the preparation that that makes the guys feel like this is a little something different. Yeah. And the fact that, look, you're going on the road and playing, you know, arguably one of the favorites, you know, and a guy in Josh Allen and an environment like, you know, Bill's Mafia,
Starting point is 00:13:19 where, like, he's going to build that up a little bit, like playing in that atmosphere, in that stadium with the weather conditions you know like all that stuff he's going to have he's going to be talking about you know yeah it's on turf but it's slick you know make sure you got the right cleats and you know he's going to he's going to have something about like man we're going to like be throwing snowballs you know into the stands at the fan like he's going to build it up to where it's yes it's it's different but man it's going to be fun right there's going to be the keys to victory. There's going to be the lot, you know, locked in and focused. But at the same time, like, there's going to be something different and fun about this week. So Jaden Daniels on the road
Starting point is 00:14:04 first playoff game. And I think I've talked to you through the years. Playoffs are different. Peyton told me this. I think you've told me this. They're different. There's like preseason speed, regular season speed, division rival speed, playoff speed. So Jaden Daniels' first playoff game on the road, Vita Via. You tell me, take me to your first. playoff game just the nerves you dealt with the anxiety the prep yeah you know it's um i would equate it to like similar to when you watch the super bowl like it always feels in the beginning of the super bowl like everybody's on eggshells yeah like the game is just slower everyone's trying to feel it out you know and then all of a sudden second quarter third's quarter it feels
Starting point is 00:14:47 like all of a sudden now there's this explosion everyone starts playing a little bit more loose a bit more confident. Obviously, the more experienced teams, you know, maybe it doesn't affect them as much. Like it's easy to sit here and say, hey, these young quarterbacks, man, it's the playoffs and everybody's going to build it up and, you know, more pressure and this and that. In some cases, young guys step in these things and it's like they don't know any better, right? Like, this is the game that they've played their whole life. And a guy like Jaden Daniels to me comes across as somebody, especially just watching the way that he's progressed and especially played down the stretch, like this dude plays loose, this guy looks like he's having fun,
Starting point is 00:15:29 like he's just playing ball in the backyard. I don't think he really knows any better. And he's just having fun. And it looks like the team is feeding off of that as well. And look, I've always loved Dan Quinn. And Dan Quinn has a tremendous track record. And these guys, man, he has them prepared. and playing hard, playing loose, like playing confident. So, like, I see a commander's team of any team that is going to just come into this thing like, hey, man, we got nothing to lose. Like, let's turn it loose, right?
Starting point is 00:16:03 Like, we're a wild card, man. Nobody expects us to do anything. We've flown under the radar the whole season. You know, yeah, we've got this young quarterback that now all of a sudden starting to get some notoriety, but it's like, man, this doesn't phase us. This is not too big for us. Yeah. So Buffalo, Baltimore, and Philadelphia are considered pretty heavy favorites.
Starting point is 00:16:24 And they're at home. Go back to your career. You're a home favorite in the playoffs and a couple of times a big favorite. Is there sort of a weird pressure knowing we got the better coach? You're a real great player. We're at home. We should win this game. But in the back of your head are you thinking, okay, it's the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:16:45 Crazy stuff happens. what is it like to be a big playoff favorite? Because there's usually about one a weekend in the NFL. You know, I'll be honest. I never paid attention or was aware of the line in a playoff game, except for one time. And that was when we played the Super Bowl against the Colts. To start that week, we were a seven and a half point dog.
Starting point is 00:17:09 And I remember Sean Payton made the point early in the week of preparation. Like, you're a seven-and-a-half-point dog. But very few times do I go into a game or a scenario where I truly feel like, like with that line, we are the better team. Wow. Watch how this line changes from Monday to Sunday. Watch how this line changed from Monday to game day. And sure enough, like every day he would put it up there. And we dropped the six and a half.
Starting point is 00:17:38 We dropped a five and a half. We dropped to four and a half. I don't even know what it was by the time game rolled around. But bottom line, it was the world. feels like you are the better bet, right? Right. Like, they are betting on you. And so this line is beginning to change, right?
Starting point is 00:17:57 So it was meant to be a confidence builder for us as a team. But, like, that was the only time I ever paid attention to it. Otherwise, man, like, I was locked in, focused on my job. Like, I don't care who we're playing. It's a faceless opponent. Like, I'm studying the opponent. We're going to go kick their butt. I'm trying to score 40 points.
Starting point is 00:18:14 I'm trying to complete every pass. I'm trying to score on every drive. Like, it didn't matter. You know? The intent was still the same, regardless of what the line was. Sometimes I will watch sporting events and all get nervous for a player. I know the player. I like the player.
Starting point is 00:18:34 Sam Darnold's one of those. If he'd have played great against Detroit, I wouldn't feel this way. And I didn't think it was a very winnable game. Biggest game in Detroit in 50 years. I'm like, this is a tough game from Minnesota. So he goes there. He didn't play well. Now I'm thinking, okay, Sammy, you're going to a playoff game. It's your first playoff game.
Starting point is 00:18:50 I'm really hoping he plays well. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, huge news? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:19:14 We just contributed to it. people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember.
Starting point is 00:19:26 I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
Starting point is 00:19:44 where people could call in and say, hey Jonas, and then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy,
Starting point is 00:20:05 not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and headwriter Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
Starting point is 00:20:22 We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam, it's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:20:58 I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Starting point is 00:21:16 Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah. You figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
Starting point is 00:21:31 So listen to Point Game on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Agency, the ability to know that we're the experts in our own body. On the podcast, cultivating her space, Dr. Dom and Terry Lomax create a space where black women can show up fully and be heard. I wholeheartedly think, you know, you hit 30. You shouldn't have to share one with anybody. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:21:55 From navigating friendships and healing to setting boundaries and prioritizing your mental health. These are real, honest conversations. We don't always get to have out loud. Totally unreasonable with different parts of life, right? Like, oh, have all three meals and make sure you're mindful during all of them? Absolutely not. During one meal, I'm standing. I'm standing and handing my children food.
Starting point is 00:22:18 Because healing, empowerment, and resilience aren't just ideas. They're practices. And this Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to pour back into yourself. Listen to cultivating her space on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. This week on Crimless, we're joined by our first ever guest. Sorry, our first ever human guest. I don't think I could be in the same room with Shamrock the parrot. I'd be too nervous.
Starting point is 00:22:52 That's right. The very funny Will Ferrell joins Rory Scovel and me, Josh Dean, for an episode dedicated to the many crimes committed by people also named Will Ferrell. They called to his fellow officer for the nippers. What are the nippers? Very good question. No, I was thinking, would that be a good name for like a salad dressing? Simple assault.
Starting point is 00:23:13 And it's a play on word, salt? Maybe not. I say we invest and we see. There's only one way to know. This did not amuse the cops. By the way, normally the cops are amused, but this did not abuse the cops. Will even comes clean about some of his own crimes. I didn't get caught.
Starting point is 00:23:31 You know why? If you don't want to be suspected of anything, you whistle as you walk. Listen to crime lists on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. You didn't have many bad games, but was there ever a moment for you, Drew, that you didn't love your performance one week? And the next week was a playoff game or a big game. How do you forget it? And again, you didn't have many of those. But how do you forget a performance you're not happy with six, seven days earlier?
Starting point is 00:24:06 I'll be honest. Those were typically the games where I played my best. was coming off of maybe a one or two game stretch where I just felt like I hadn't played my best or there was a lot more to be had out of the game. So just the way that I then approached that next week of preparation, I would really lock in on the process.
Starting point is 00:24:38 Because if you focus on the process, the result will take care of. itself so became just this laser focus on like each day my routine my habits getting my work done and knowing that that will equate to a great performance on Sunday regardless of what happened the weeks before like just focusing on the process and knowing the result will take care of itself and so like call it a little bit just like a heightened level of urgency and of focus not pressure just urgency. And maybe getting back to just some of the basics, you know. So like, look, I think this is
Starting point is 00:25:19 a pivotal game for Sam Donald. He's played a phenomenal regular season, phenomenal, especially all that he's, you know, gone through to get to this point and then the opportunity that he had this season and making the most of it. But, you know, you're remembered for what you do in the playoffs. And it's all, all that regular season did was get you to this moment so that you would have this opportunity. Look, I actually went to the game. I took my sons to the Detroit game. We were sitting literally front row.
Starting point is 00:25:46 I watched every snap. They had tons of opportunities in the game. They were down inside the 10-yard line four times. They could have been up 14, 17 points at halftime. They were terrible in the red zone. A lot of things I saw would have done differently. But you take that performance and you turn that into one or two things. Either you let that, you know, drag you down moving forward,
Starting point is 00:26:12 or that has created a heightened level of urgency and focus and intensity to attention to the process this week so that you go out and play lights out. Finally, I want to circle back to Sean Payton because you have, when I think of Sean, I think of you, when I think of Sean and like Reading Mahomes or Brady and Belichick, it's just legendary legacy stuff. Not all coaches age well.
Starting point is 00:26:37 Sean is aged well. He is blunt. He put it out there. There's just something when I sat when he was here at Fox, I'd go to dinner with him. And he's so intense. And if I had to guess why he's aged well, he just loves it so much.
Starting point is 00:26:55 That light has never dimmed. But why do you think that he remains so good all these years after he started? Yeah, so a couple things. number one and you're so much of a product of your mentors and who you've had a chance to be around
Starting point is 00:27:12 and you know Sean would attest to this but just from being around him and looking at his influences like Bill Parcells John Gruden yeah like there was so much of an influence
Starting point is 00:27:24 from those guys in the way that Sean would teach, coach, communicate and it was like the best of like the best of those guys you know Sean took and kind of made his own, you know.
Starting point is 00:27:37 So I feel like there's always that, that he's taken the best of what people have poured into him, and now he's carrying that on to become his coaching style. Look, he's an offensive guy, right? He loves being ahead of the curve. He loves, like he's a grinder. The dude's a grinder, man. He puts in a ton of time, late nights,
Starting point is 00:28:01 like just trying to find those little, like, edges or advantages that he can put in the game plan they're going to make the difference. And so many times, I can't tell you, like, we'd be getting a Saturday that was like, ah, you know, he'd say, I went back and watched this, and I just came up with this idea, and we would massage you a little bit, and it would go in the game plan, and sure enough, it would be one of the game-changing plays in the game, right? It happened so many times. He's an outstanding communicator, like just his ability to, you know,
Starting point is 00:28:34 order the chaos order the chaos like block out the noise like get the team zeroed in on the keys to victory each and every week despite all of the distractions and all the other stuff that people want to talk about like man fellas if we do this like we put ourselves in the best best position to win this game right he had a great way of bringing levity and humor to tense situations or as a way to motivate guys right like I'll never forget we had a we had a we had a safety one time who was was a ball hawk machine and um he would always make he would always make the comment to him um hey you know defense when so-and-so gets this interception
Starting point is 00:29:17 it we're going to have to block everybody to get him in the end zone to get him a pick six right so make sure that when you like we get this interception you got to go find a block because otherwise there's no way this guy's going to make his way in the end up course like so it was So it was like a subtle jab, but then sure enough, like it just, you know, created a little extra motivation for the defense. So, like, little stuff like that where he would find ways to just kind of like, you know, dig in here a little bit. And everybody's laughing.
Starting point is 00:29:43 Everybody's having a good time. And you kind of walk away and you're like, was he just making fun of me? But at the end of the day, like, that would create a little bit of an edge and a chip on your shoulder. Like, man, he got something to prove. Like, I was always feeling like I had something to prove to Sean Payton. And maybe it was just proving him right because he believed in me what a lot of people did.
Starting point is 00:30:02 But that's why he's aged well, because he can identify with players. Man, he makes it fun. When it's time to work, it's time to work. When it's time to play, we're going to have a good time. And he's taking the best of those who have poured into him, and now he's just carrying him on that legacy. You've been so good today.
Starting point is 00:30:21 I'd be remiss if I didn't ask you this. I want you to listen to Lamar Jackson. He cares so damn much. He gets so mad when he struggles. I love guys. like that. I want to play a Lamar Jackson bite, and I have a question out of it. Let's play this real quick about why he's
Starting point is 00:30:36 struggled in the playoffs. Yeah, I'd just be too excited. That's all, too assy. Like, I'm seeing things before I happen, like, oh, I've got to calm myself down. But just being more experience, I've found a way to balance it out. Okay, when he says that, I get all juiced up.
Starting point is 00:30:53 I never think of you, because you were such an accuracy machine. I don't ever remember I remember anxious Brady. I definitely remember Anxious Manning. I never remember. Yeah, Drew looks a little frenetic. Don't remember it.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Did you ever get nervous? I give you one example. So Super Bowl, right? You know, you're going in, so it's like, man, just any other game. It's just like any other game. And I think first play, we hand the ball off for like five-yard game.
Starting point is 00:31:22 Next play, we throw a short pass. It's like third and four. And we're going to run, we call it just like, you know, all go. We're just going to run by the corner on third and fourth, thinking he might be sitting at the sticks and we're going to get a big play. Robert Meacham runs by the corner. He's got like
Starting point is 00:31:38 three or four yard of space on him. And I launched the ball over his head. I mean, launch it over his head, 10 yards. And I go to the sideline, and I'm just sitting there going, dude, calm down. Like my heart was racing. You know, it's the Super Bowl. It's the first drive.
Starting point is 00:31:56 We had AllGo called, and I just launched it over this guy's head and he's wide open you know um and then that's when i was like hey man it's just like any other game okay right just just just play the game just focus on focus on your job um but like that that would be you know look i get it you know i get it like you get in some of these moments and it's easy to get amped up you know and anxious and feel like man i got to go make a play right i got to go no just execute man just execute the offense right and all those opportunities will come yeah now i want to go look up that piece of video now you've told it to me. I'm like, oh, I don't remember Drew missing by 10 yards over a receiver.
Starting point is 00:32:32 What a pleasure to have you, buddy. I appreciate you coming on again. Great stories today. You too, Colin. Drew Breeze. That's just a great job. Great stories. That's Super Bowl. I remember that Super Bowl down in Miami. That was Miami, right? That was the Colts and that was the Saints because one of the things that jumps out to me is Peyton called for the onside kick to start the second half, which is, as Drew pointed out, like, Sean's going to have a trick this weekend in Buffalo. There's going to be something there. And I think one of the reasons he's aged well, and I think Drew pointed on this, offensive coaches love the creative process.
Starting point is 00:33:09 They love spending off seasons. Andy Reed has sent me video of plays he's dreamed up. And they just love to create and be ahead of the curve. They're like tech guys. They just love the next innovation. And I think that helps offensive guys age. This is an interesting story that's just come down. I'll take a break and return. Interesting story.
Starting point is 00:33:30 That's next. Live in L.A. The Hurt. Be sure to catch live editions of the HARD weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific. Hey, it's Steve Kavino. And I'm Rich Davis. And together we're Kavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. You can catch us weekdays from 5 to 7 p.m. Eastern, 2 to 4 Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and of course the IHeart Radio app. Why should you listen to Kavino and Rich?
Starting point is 00:33:51 We talk about everything, life, sports, relationships, what's going on in the world? We have a lot of fun talking about the stories behind the stories in the world of sports and pop culture. Stories that, well, other shows don't seem to have the time to discuss. And the fact that we've been friends for the last 20 years and still work together, I mean, that says something, right? So check us out. We like to get you involved too. Take your phone calls, chop it up, as they say.
Starting point is 00:34:14 I'd say the most interactive show on Fox Sports Radio. Maybe the most interactive show on Planet Earth. Be sure to check out Kavino and Rich live on Fox Sports Radio and the IHeart Radio app from 5 to 7 p.m. Eastern, 2 to 4 Pacific. And if you miss any of the live show, just search Covino and Rich wherever you get your podcast and, of course, on social media. That's Covino and Rich. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast.
Starting point is 00:34:44 Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember I think it was on a call about what we should call it And we were thinking
Starting point is 00:35:02 I'm originally calling it One of the early names of our band Before Jonas Brothers This is how you guys remember it going down Yes I have a very different memory of this We were talking about a thing A bit for the podcast For people could call in and say hey Jonas
Starting point is 00:35:17 And then I wrote down on my little Notepad Hey Jonas And offered it up as a potential title For the podcast But thanks for remembering that guys listen to hey jonas on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcast just listen we don't care where you hear it another podcast from some s nl late night comedy guy not quite unhumor me with robert smigel and friends me and hilarious guests from bob odenkirk to david
Starting point is 00:35:43 letterman help make you funnier this week my guess s n l's mikey day and head writer streeter sidel help an acapella band with their between songs banter where does your group perform we do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds.
Starting point is 00:36:10 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I gather. manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the
Starting point is 00:36:34 lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball like. After you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Starting point is 00:36:59 Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This week on Crimless, we're joined by our first ever guest. Sorry, our first ever human guest. I don't think I could be in the same room with Shamrock the parrot. I'd be too nervous. That's right. The very funny Will Ferrell joins Rory Scovel and me, Josh Dean,
Starting point is 00:37:28 for an episode dedicated to the many crimes committed by people also named Will Ferrell. They called to his fellow officer for the nippers. What are the nippers? Very good question. No, I was thinking, would that be a good name for like a salad dressing? Simple assault. And it's a play on word, salt? Maybe not.
Starting point is 00:37:47 I say we invest and we see. There's only one way to know. This did not amuse the cops. By the way, normally the cops are amused, but this did not abuse the cops. Will even comes clean about some of his own crimes. I didn't get caught. You know why? If you don't want to be suspected of anything, you whistle as you walk. Listen to crime lists on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Agency, the ability to know that we're the experts in our own body. On the podcast, cultivating her space, Dr. Dom and Terry Lueh, Make L'Omax create a space where black women can show up fully and be heard. I wholeheartedly think, you know, you hit 30. You shouldn't have to share one with anybody. Mm-hmm. From navigating friendships and healing to setting boundaries and prioritizing your mental health. These are real honest conversations.
Starting point is 00:38:42 We don't always get to have out loud. Totally unreasonable with different parts of life, right? Like, oh, have all three meals and make sure you're mindful during all of them? Absolutely not. During one meal, I'm standing. I'm standing and handing my children food. Because healing, empowerment, and resilience aren't just ideas. Their practices.
Starting point is 00:39:03 And this Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to pour back into yourself. Listen to cultivating her space on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Sunday on Fox, after a historic season, Saquan Barkley and the Eagles begin their playoff run against Jordan Love, and the Packers, an NFL wildcard matchup Sunday at 4 Eastern 1 Pacific on Fox. So Tom Pellasarro, a respected reporter earlier today, said multiple NFL teams have inquired about whether legendary coach Bill Belichick would consider his move to college football to, you know, would he come out of college football quickly and go back to the NFL? The Raiders, Tom Brady spoke recently with his old coach, according to sources.
Starting point is 00:39:51 So Belichick was called by Brady. Belichick, obviously, at Carolina, Brady now minority owner of the Raiders. By the way, Diana Rusini, who comes on this show, just reported that Belichick said he has no plans to return to the NFL. She says, I'm told his focus is on recruiting. Today he's in New Jersey. So, you know, some of this, in my opinion, is Bill calling Diana and saying, I'm not going back to the NFL. Could you put it out there?
Starting point is 00:40:25 I don't think it helps recruiting. I think everybody in the ACC, like Dabo Sweeney and Bill Belichick fighting over a defensive end, I think if I was Dabo Sweeney, I'd say you think he's going to be a college football coach for 10 years? Dabble Sweeney said, I'll be here in 10 years. He may not be here in 10 months. So I think in college recruiting, people recruit against you
Starting point is 00:40:45 as often as often they recruit for themselves. They'll make sure you know that, yeah, I'm going to be here in 10 years. And let's be honest, if you're going to do well in the ACC, you've got to beat Clemson. So that's who you're recruiting against. Carolina is recruiting against players in that region that want to go to Clemson. And so I'm sure Belichick knows, you know, Dabo's saying, hey, I've been here 10 years. I'm going to be here another 10 years.
Starting point is 00:41:09 They're going to bury me in this football stadium. So he's got a huge legacy advantage, college legacy advantage over Belichick. And Bill wants it out there. I mean, if Bill called me tomorrow and said, you know, Colin, I'm I'm staying in Carolina for two years. I would report that. I am a bit skeptical that this is to save recruiting or elevate recruiting. I'm a little skeptical.
Starting point is 00:41:30 I could be wrong. I think Bill's, you know, I don't think he spent a lot of days watching college football. I remember when Urban Meyer went to the pros. Urban Meyer was totally up front with me. He said, I didn't watch Sunday football. Sunday, I was in the film room. I was a college football guy. And when he went there, it wasn't the coaching.
Starting point is 00:41:47 It was the sensibility. Urban didn't have like an NFL field. he didn't have NFL contacts. He was a college coach. Bill's the opposite. He's an NFL coach. If you watch their drafting over the last seven years, Bill didn't have a great feel for it. Let me ask you, Colin, where does Bill Belichick have a better chance to win this upcoming season, this fall? North Carolina and the ACC or Vegas where they're drafting sixth, and we don't know the quarterback situation. Be real about this. Where does he have a better chance to win this fall? Carolina.
Starting point is 00:42:18 There you go. why is he leaving for the Raiders? I know your guy works there to Lesko and, you know, Brady's in the ownership group. I don't. If they had a quarterback, okay, maybe I would consider it. I just, I don't see it. Unless they think they can land Shedurr Sanders somehow. Hey, we got the package to move up and grab him or Cam Ward.
Starting point is 00:42:37 But Carolina, he's got a better chance to win. You know, there are things that play to his advantage. A large number of recruits now come to you in college football. Yeah. Right? Because of the NIL. A lot of the top end guy. Now, you still want to recruit high school players.
Starting point is 00:42:56 But you can have young people on your staff that do a lot of that recruiting. Now, Bill's probably out in Jersey today looking at a left tackle. You know, Bill's not going to waste his time on prospects. He's going after four and five star guys that can come in and play. But a lot of this now, I mean, even the, you know, almost every program brings in like eight to 12 NIL guys that can play. Even Texas where they're great recruiting. They're bringing in NIL guys. I mean, Ohio State goes, gets Caleb Downs, who is the second best player on their team.
Starting point is 00:43:25 So even the powerhouses fix their roster, and they get really high-end transfers. So a lot of it that plays to Bill's advantages, kids now come to you. I can't see Bill 10 years ago, you know, shaking the bushes trying to find a three-star running back. I just don't see that happening. So the timing of this and his son's on the staff, his son's done recruiting. You know, in college staffs, USC just hired a guy that's a legendary recruit. He's a younger guy from Colorado State. He recruits L.A. well.
Starting point is 00:43:54 Lincoln Riley has not done a good job keeping L.A. town around, so you go get a young guy who's known as a great recruiter. So I'm sure Bill could pay for that. But I will say this. I would like Belichick to stay at Carolina for one year. Because I've always felt there's this sense that college guys can't coach in the pros, proven wrong with Jimmy Johnson, Pete Carroll. And that NFL guys would dominate college. and I don't think they would. Bill was so smart.
Starting point is 00:44:24 You know, Bill would just spend more time on the game and college limits you to 20 hours a week. Remember Harbaugh, when he went back from the Niners to Michigan, he had, what, one or two good years, and then it was kind of lean there for a while, and they wanted to run him out of town, and then he ended up winning the national championship. It can be very problematic for a pro coach
Starting point is 00:44:45 who could coach 70 hours a week, and then you're limited, to a very short, and these kids are going to class, they've got tests, you've got to work around the academics and the family time. The idea that, you know, the college is so much easier, college football is a young man's game. Marcus Freeman. I mean, that guy has the energy, you know, of a young guy. So, Nick Saban, Jay Wright, could have kept coaching at an elite level.
Starting point is 00:45:12 But I think at one point they're like, there's too many Kirby smarts out. I think Brian Kelly's finding this out at LSU. He doesn't have the energy. He's not putting in the time that Kirby Smart is on the recruiting trail. I'm curious how the collective works. Does the collective come to Bill and say, hey, we've now got a war chest of $15 million? The guys who are the big donors, they've got their eyes on these three guys. And so Mike Lombardi.
Starting point is 00:45:33 Yeah, well, so Mike Lombardi and Bill would sit down, and Lombardi would say, let's pay for a left tackle, a quarterback, one big weapon, two pass rushers, and a corner. And I think that's what Lombardi's going to provide. He'll be the GM that Bill trusts. But there are arguments that today's college football is much easier for guys like Bill than it was 15 years ago. But college football has its own feel and these Ryan Days that are great recruiters. And the Kirby Smart and Marcus Freeman, James Franklin, it's an energy game. It is largely a young guy's game.
Starting point is 00:46:05 Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast?
Starting point is 00:46:14 Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen.
