This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
On the Look Back at it podcast.
From 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast.

You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Oh, here we go.
There is all sorts of activity NFL.
free agency.
It's the herd, wherever you may be and however you may be listening.
All right, so Miami, the Dolphins just signed quarterback Mike White to a two-year deal,
$8 million per.
He's a backup to $2, obviously.
A little bit bigger, stronger player, more than capable backup.
But the Jets now either get Aaron Rogers or it is Zach Wilson and a lottery pick next year
in the drive.
They are in big trouble in New York.
I don't want you to forget about Chris Trevler, who is basically, he wore 15 with the Jets.
They called him Tebow with tattoos because he likes to run the ball a lot.
He's tatted up.
It's looking bleak for the Jets right now, to put it mildly.
Now, the good news is if you can just deal with being awful for a year, next year, there's two A-plus-plus quarterback.
So if Houston gets a Bryce Young, they're not going to be a one-and-16 team.
You know, I think Bryce could come in, Dome or a warm weather team and winning some games.
I don't know how long he lasts.
So this is the Aaron Rogers stuff, isn't this classic?
All these teams are making moves, and the Jets and the Packers, they have a deal.
Essentially, the framework of the deal is done.
They are waiting for Aaron Rogers.
So, you know, so Garoppolo now, off the market.
Raiders signed him.
Do you want to talk about Garapolo's money?
It's official now.
Maybe Garoppolo just signed, not a shock with the Raiders, three years, 68 mil, 34 guaranteed,
what's it mean?
It's a little less than I would have thought.
It's significantly less than the marginally talented Daniel Jones.
But Daniel also gives you some running touchdowns and mobility that Garapolo doesn't.
Neither one is a huge arm guy.
But, you know, my takeaway in the Raiders is offensively, they're an elite football team.
I know you don't love Garapolo.
O lines good.
tight end. They got two. Marose the backup. They got two tight ends I like. Two receivers I like.
A running back I like. Raiders talents almost except Max Crosby all on offense. But it's 2023. I can live with that.
So if the Raiders finish fourth, it's the most gifted offensive team in a long time to finish fourth.
And Garoppolo's more than capable. Gets banged up. But, you know, Raiders have a lot of good players.
I also think it creates clarity. Here's our guy for a couple of years.
three-year deal.
You know, it's probably with a guaranteed money they can move off him, I'm sure, by year two or three.
But Garoppolo's more than capable.
He's also, he's able to make a lot of throws in the middle of the field.
That's what Kyle Shanahan asks of his quarterback.
He doesn't ask you to throw it down the sidelines a lot.
You know, Garoppolo is efficient.
I've always thought he's a B quarterback, but that's okay.
But there are not a lot of teams, even in that division.
I mean, Kansas City does not have the Raiders.
offensive talent. The chiefs just lost their starting right tackle to the commanders.
So they better sign Orlando Brown at left tackle, or they're going to have no tackles for
Patrick Mahomes. So they'll probably have to overpay their left tackle a little.
So Garoppolo is a raider. I think it's pretty obvious once Jarant Stidham went to Sean's
Peyton's Broncos. So it's fine. You can win a lot of games with Jimmy Garoppolo.
Now, I would say this. In the NFC, he's one quarterback. In the AFC, he's another.
Let's just think about this.
Where would you put Garoppolo in the AFC?
So he's not Mahomes, not Trevor Lawrence, not Herbert, not Burrow, not Josh Allen, not Lamar.
That's six, he's not.
He's better than Kenny Pickett.
Let's see who he's better than Matt Ryan right now at this point in Matt's career.
Russell Wilson and Deshawn Watson.
He's not as good as Deshaun Watson, although I'm not a huge fan.
Russell's better than Garoppolo.
If Russell reverts to at least 80% of what he was,
without Nathaniel Hackett.
And we both think he will go back to being a very effective player.
Great, we don't know.
Effective, absolutely.
Is there an argument where McDaniels has elevated Mac Jones in the past?
Could he elevate Jimmy G to be a very, very good court?
Maybe he gets bumped up in echelon.
Go look at the Patriots offense this year without Josh McDaniels.
It was an embarrassment.
So there's no question.
Josh McDaniels has worked with Jimmy, was effective with Jimmy.
He's very good at what he does.
does? I mean, Brady got along with him forever. They would bark at each other, but Brady and
Byron Leftwich and Bruce Ariens, go look at Brady's history. He went to Tampa. He and Bruce
Ariens, never ideal. Byron Lefich, worked the first year, tired by the second and third.
Josh McDaniels worked with Brady forever. So we can work with egos. He can work with stars. He can
work with a tough coach, Belichick. So Josh McDaniels has a more than effective, and they'll probably
draft a quarterback, by the way, if you were the Raiders, go draft a quarterback because Garoppolo's
health concerns.
still contend that Max Duggan's going to end up making a team and being a pretty effective
player. I think he's a pretty effective player. I think he's a more talented Brock Purdy.
Can I ask you about Jared Stidham, who is going to Denver to be the backup? We saw
backups were massively important last year throughout the league. I think there was a record
number of teams that had to use backups or third stringers. So Stidham goes for two years 10 mil to
Denver. Mike White goes to Miami for two years 16 mil.
Eight million a year for your backup quarterback.
Now, doesn't this feel like of all the quarterbacks that were available is Mike McDaniel
doing a little Sean Payton saying, okay, Robert Sala, you're not paying attention.
You're caught up an errand. I'm going to go steal your backup.
So, I mean, the Jets, if the Jets do not land Aaron Rogers, they are in a short group of bad football teams.
And speaking of that, there's a Jets reporter that just put out,
how will this wait for Aaron Rogers resonate with the Jets?
They are in a complete holding pattern in free agency.
You can't really do anything because you've got to wait for Aaron Rogers.
This is a reporter for the Jets,
given the impression that he's not all in that may not sit well with some teammates.
So off to a good start if Aaron Rogers does pick New York.
Teammates already like, bro, can you poop or get off the pot?
Like make a decision here.
You're holding us up.
We just lost our backup quarterback.
I'll ask you again, you're a Jets, die hard.
Okay.
You and I have moved in our life professionally.
We're obviously not pro athletes.
I've moved three different times, different coasts.
In each instance, I moved because something, I moved from ESPN.
It wasn't a money deal.
It was I was going to get more marketing.
I was going to get a TV component to my radio show.
Fox provided things.
It was a smaller company.
I thought it would be,
I thought ESPN got really big and really layered, and it was not a knock on him.
But Fox provided things that my former company didn't.
It's not to say I didn't like the former company.
He still have a lot of friends there.
It's a great company.
But to move, to make a big move, the new place has to provide something.
To get a divorce, you just don't go back to the same thing, right?
So I'll say this again.
What do the Jets provide?
A clever offensive coach?
No, he's got that in Green Bay.
A great offensive line.
No, Green Bay's is good.
Easier route?
Absolutely not conference or division.
I think Green Bay's got better backs.
Better offensive line.
Offensive coach.
More familiarity.
Easier division.
Easier conference.
I mean, if Aaron's only going to play two years, why the hell would you move to New York?
Aaron likes to hide.
He likes his private time.
He likes to do things his way.
It's a fishbowl in New York.
You can't avoid the paparazzi, the media.
I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
I'm just saying, if I'm Aaron in his shoes,
what do I get in New York?
A better defense.
Okay.
I'm not moving for that.
I think the fact that you have no clue what he's going to do.
It doesn't make sense.
Nothing adds up.
Why would he want to leave Green Bay?
It just doesn't make sense.
Goes to a darkness street.
What's that about?
I don't know.
Nobody knows what's up with this guy.
Is that really someone you want to bring into New York?
When nobody knows his state of mind,
not wanting to work with the young guys,
Nothing's adding up with him.
I'd rather take a guy I don't know much about Aaron Rogers
than a guy I know everything about Zach Wilson.
I know he can't play.
Well, what if I told you the Jets,
they're huddling right now in the Fonz?
They're probably sweating, waiting for Aaron Rogers to call them or text them.
Guys, can we pivot to Lamar Jackson?
Can we get off Aaron Rogers?
He's screwing with us.
He's screwing with our heads, the locker room.
Can we just go to Lamar Jackson and do something?
Because we're at DefCon 1 if we're New York Jets fans.
Like, it's looking bleak.
car's gone, Garoppolo's gone,
Rogers is leaving us twisting in the wind.
You could go from promising and on the uptick,
which is what they were last year.
I think they were like seven and four at one point.
They were in the playoff mix to holy hell.
We're going back to the depths of the league.
You just told me during commercial break,
are they one of the worst teams in the AFC?
And it's like, hell no.
And you start looking at the standings and you're like,
maybe.
Yeah, I mean, it's a swift fall.
I mean, there's just, there's not a lot of,
terrible in the
AFC.
There really isn't.
The NFC's got some
really, really meager
situations. I mean, I think Arizona's talented,
but they're a mess right now. Now you've got
offensive linemen calling out Kyler Murray.
There's not a real, the bottom end
of the AFC
is Houston.
It's Houston, Tennessee.
Well, yeah, Tennessee's got Mike
Vrable, a really good defense.
They'll play ugly football
and win eight games. That's just Tennessee.
They're not going to be terrible with Mike Vrable in that defense.
Colts?
You know, again, that's maybe.
Nobody in the AFC West.
Maybe the Ravens crater without Lamar Jackson?
They're not going to crater.
They're just too well run.
They gave the Bengals nightmares in the last two games with a third string quarterback.
Fair.
So Baltimore is just too structurally sound.
So then the Jets nuclear option, which no coach is going to go for,
the GM won't go for it, because they're going to be fired,
is, you know what, let's just.
roll with Zach Wilson. We win three games. Oh, well, next year we'll get Caleb Williams and
Lincoln Riley as a package. If it was my first year as a coach, I would do that. I'd have no
problem with that. That's right. Now, Sala's been there twice. But if, I'm saying, if I got hired
today and you asked me what I wanted to do, I'd say, I don't want Lamar. He's hurt all the time,
and I don't want to hear it. He's too expensive and prickly. Let's just be banned for a year and go
get Caleb Williams or Drake May. Let's say someone said that to Sala. What does he say? Dude,
I'm going to be fired by October if we're like one in nine.
Right?
They cratered at the end of last season, Colin.
Yeah.
No.
GM doesn't know how to draft a quarterback.
Well, let's slow down.
He missed on a quarterback.
Also, the guy before him missed on Sam Darnold with badly.
Well, that wasn't his fault.
Not fair, but like you got the number two pick.
Justin Fields looking promising.
Mac Jones made the playoffs.
We get Zach Wilson.
Yeah, well, I didn't like him.
Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't have picked him and I said it.
This is just depressing.
Like, we were having a fun show and now you made it about the Jets.
And it's like, what the hell's going on here?
Okay, anything else happened real quick before we go to break.
Nothing I want to talk about.
So the Broncos.
Oh, oh, here we go.
Quarterback, Houston Texans have agreed to sign Case Keatum to a two-year deal.
Another backup quarterback off the market for the Jets.
He could have been the starter.
Oh, come on.
Is that not news?
That's not news.
No.
So Denver gets McGlinchie the right tackle, not to bore with all the NFL minutia.
so Broncos are attacking their offensive.
They got one really good guard,
a left tackle who was out last year.
He'll come back.
Now they're right.
So their all line this morning in Denver is better than it was.
The rumor mill has Denver offloading a receiver here in the coming days.
We don't know which one.
Hamler.
Judy.
Somebody's going to get pushed out.
And I think they'll be all right.
Yeah.
All right.

Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at
it podcast. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went
down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode,
with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 was big to me not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
All right, welcome back. Rick Buecker, Fox Sports NBA, covering the league for almost 30 years on a busy, a frenetic NFL day when there's a lot of stuff happening.
A lot of its backups are small players, little contracts.
Mike White goes to Miami, a quarterback, Jared Stidham Broncos.
We'll keep you updated on Aaron Rogers to the Jets potentially or staying with Green Bay.
So Kevin Durant in a layup line gets hurt out for the regular season.
I love the move.
You push back on it.
And many did saying Chris Paul and Katie are hurt a lot.
So now, do you think Phoenix today looks at this and goes,
what did we get ourselves into?
Especially with all the first round picks that they gave up.
They have to.
And I just, look, I understand why they did it.
It's hard to say no when a Kevin Durant.
comes up and he wants to play for you.
But what we've seen, if we're talking about championship teams, is this idea that you need
to have this nucleus of three stars in order to play for a title has really gone by the
boards.
It's a matter of, do you have depth and versatility?
If you look at the championship teams that have won of late, yes, they have stars.
They have a requisite number of stars, but they're not top heavy.
They're deep.
And what the Sons gave up in order to get Kevin Durant was three players who were instrumental in getting 64 wins last year and going to the championship a year ago.
So if you have Kevin Durant and he's available, then you might be able to compensate for that.
But I still maintain that the Phoenix Sons go as far as Chris Paul goes.
And he's not the same player as two years ago.
Not even close.
And the numbers look good.
The efficiency looks good.
But he's really your floor general, your orchestrator.
Kevin Durant is a hired gun.
Devin Booker in many ways is a hired gun.
You need somebody who puts all the pieces together.
And that's Chris Paul.
So the Warriors Buck Saturday night, very much a playoff feel.
Steph was remarkable.
They're doing this without Wiggins.
Yep.
Apparently the team knows what's going on.
Nobody else does.
Yeah.
Okay, is he coming back?
He's our most athletic wing defender.
I wouldn't count on it.
For the year?
I would not count on it.
Wow.
It's a family issue.
They're being very sensitive about it.
And I don't know the details.
But it is a personal issue.
And they are not convinced by any stretch that he's going to make it back.
I don't think they can win without him.
No.
And I'm not.
They certainly can't win without him.
I'm not even convinced that they can win with him.
I just don't believe that they have enough.
But certainly he and Gary Payton, if they were available,
could cure a lot of their ills.
And the way Steph Curry is playing, it really is a phenomenal thing.
I've never seen a player who can infuse a team,
maybe Derek Rose with the Chicago Bulls,
but a team that is really not that good,
a supporting cast that is really not that good,
and looks at that guy and says,
if that guy is on, we have a chance.
chance. And that's what Steph Curry
has done this year. Yeah, and he did it against Drew
Holliday, who's one of the absolute
top five defenders in the league. And
one of the most underrated, forget
defensive players. To me,
he's one of the best point guards,
top three point guard in the league
right now, arguably the playing
the best, because with Janus out,
he's not just doing it defensively,
offensively he's making big shot
after big shot. He's demonstrating he can do it at that end.
Yeah, Drew's been good for a long time.
So, you know, I was saying earlier, no Jalen Brunson, you're at home, it's desperate, and Julius Randall eat you alive.
The Lakers have 14 games left.
They get very lucky, though.
Rockets, OKC, sons twice, a lot of nonsense.
Bulls twice, Orlando.
They could certainly go on a run.
But what's interesting to me, the standards, I mean, LeBron's not getting younger and AD is not getting healthier.
The standard for the Lakers now is excitement over a chance.
to get to the playoffs as like the last seed.
It's such a boring, not, I mean, the state, usually, you know, for Alabama, the minute
they're like, oh, we're winning seven games.
That's not our standard.
The Lakers are in that class of top six or seven franchises in North America.
Yeah.
The idea they would run this back, Kevin Garnett is saying this injury to LeBron, not quite as
serious.
They're trying to gauge if Anthony Davis can.
lead them as if the book on
AD's not written. I know
exactly what he is. I agree.
Don't you think it's a weird?
I mean, the idea
they run this back to me is
just bewildering. Yes.
I agree. I agree.
I mean, short of finding someone
who's going to be the leader of your team
in his prime,
not LeBron James, because
honestly, I'll be interested to see
if and when he gets back, how
they're able to play. But
Anthony Davis is a tremendously talented player.
He shows you that night after night.
He'll go on three or four game stretches where it's like he's a little yonness, both ends of the floor.
But name me the game where your team is struggling and he puts the team on his back and turns the tide.
Well, last night was that night.
Yes.
When the team is rolling in a certain direction, he's going to be fantastic.
If you're looking for him to set the pace,
and take you there,
you've,
that's never happened.
Yeah,
it's honestly never happened.
It didn't happen in New Orleans.
Yeah.
Why you would think it's going to happen
with the Lakers now,
I'm with you.
We've said before,
I think he's the best two in the league.
I think on a great team,
on a championship caliber team,
he's a two.
He's probably a three.
Wow.
Because of availability.
Availability and,
like my two sometimes has to pick me up
and be the guy.
And I,
you know,
I don't want to, let me take that back, because I don't want to, I don't want to be that disparaging.
But when I saw it, like, in New Orleans, you had, I think Drew Holiday and Rajan Rondo.
Yeah.
They led that team when they made the playoffs when OKC fell down.
And not mistaken, went to the second round.
Well, Drew Holiday is exactly what you're explaining.
Yes.
Drew Holliday is your classic two.
You can't depend on him.
You don't want him every night.
He can't be your one.
But if you have an eight-game stretch when Janus is.
out, he'll help you insane. He can fill
in that. And
AD does at times, but again, it's still
like right now, DeAngelo Russell
by default is probably
their floor leader, and we've seen
how that goes. So
it's, but I'm not
with you in terms of, I think it's fascinating
where the Lakers are. Yes,
they're not playing for championships yet they're not playing
what their pedigree as
a franchise normally demands.
But I'm
fascinated by this bull you
bays of where LeBron James is in his
career, what Anthony
Davis is, like all the
different pieces that have been
mixed together. And in the background, Jeannie
Buss, looking over her shoulder going, Steve
Palmer has billions
to outspend me on.
Can I maintain that the Lakers
are the team to follow in
Los Angeles? You know, the Eastern
Conference seems so set to me. Buck, Celtic,
Sixers, Cleveland.
Yeah, Cleveland's
probably doesn't have the age or experience to get out of there.
Boston does, Philly does. Hardin has sort of reinvented himself as he's a better
distributor. Now, he did it in Brooklyn, by the way, as last year.
Sure did. So, you know, a lot of these players, you know, the Kyrie's and Westbrook,
they are what they are. Hardin, to his credit, has kind of tweaked his game.
Yep. Do you buy Philadelphia?
33 a night from Embeddied. Yeah. Hardin leads the league and assists.
Doc Rivers situationally, sometimes frustrates NBA followers.
Do you buy them?
As the potentially the best team in the Eastern Conference?
They're going out of the Eastern Conference.
I mean, if you have the best score in the league and the best distributor and a veteran championship winning coach, you should be.
They're hot.
They're red hot since December, early December.
Goes back to what I said, though.
Championship teams are built on depth and versatility.
They're a top heavy team.
Tyrus Maxi is having a great year.
He's the third best player.
He's good player.
Can you count one?
can you count on anybody else? And two,
the endurance and durability of Joelle Embed and James Hardin
is always going to be in question. Because you're going to ride them
and you're going to ride them hard. And
when you get into seven game series
and now you're getting to the second round, now you're getting the conference
finals, can they continue to deliver?
They historically have not.
So much like Anthony Davis, you know,
I love how themes just emerge on this show.
You're reading a novel and then you just realize there's all these subplots that kind of come together.
We're like everything everywhere all at once.
Like the Oscar winning movie.
We give you a lot of different angles.
There you go.
There you go.
And so it's kind of the same, it's the same thing as Anthony Davis.
Like you're telling me, is this going to be the time for James Hardin and Joelle M.B.?
I don't know.
They've, as far as playoff players, they kind of shown us who they are.
Unless something dramatically happens, I just don't.
expect anything different. Did you watch the Oscar? I thought Kimmel was good last night. Do you watch
the Oscars? Not a minute. What other rating is on the Oscars? I thought it was the best Oscars,
and I didn't watch any of the films yet. I have not either. I've been busy prepping now that
I'm down in L.A. prepping for your show. Yeah. You know, as Jay Mack knows, like,
I get a whole list of things we're going to talk about, and then generally we don't talk about
any of them. We go completely, we go off-roading. I'm buying. I'm buying.
I'm making dinner for Buker at the house tonight.
See, and he said it's going to be salmon.
I'm expecting we'll have like beef medallions or something.
He's completely hard-in-h-turned.
Yeah, he's bringing cigars.
We're going to have salmon, little cuss-coose, little broccoli and cigars.
You should just have him.
So when we were moving out here, him and his wife took my wife and I out to dinner.
Yeah.
And to kind of seal the deal.
We're like, oh, my gosh, we've got to move out here.
Yeah.
You got to take him, go to a restaurant.
Oh, no, no, no.
Trust me.
He does all right there.
Yeah.
You're a good cook?
No, actually getting invited to the Colorado domicile?
The mansion I have not been to?
Oh, yes.
I can't.
I can't wait.
Famous people right around the corner?
Yeah, pretty much.
Dustin Hoffman.
He's my youngest neighbor.
I live in a very, very old neighborhood.
Wow.
A lot of old Hollywood legends.
All right, Bukes.
Good to see you, buddy.
Yeah, see you later.
Jay Mack with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the first.
That's a great line news. I saw I've seen him twice.
Is he friendly?
Cordial. Full head of hair.
You know, he's a legend.
I grew up, Kramer versus Kramer.
Tiny.
Yeah, he's small.
Yeah.
But I mean, he was...
Wait, why are you referencing a court case?
Kramer versus Kramer was the first...
Oh, the movie. Right, right, right.
Merrill Street.
I think it was Meryl Streep.
Sorry.
Now you're talking about an era I'm not familiar with.
Sorry.
No, Dustin Hoffman, for about a 20-year stretch and Jack Nicholson were kind of like...
Ranett.
Best Hoffman movie was...
Rain Man.
with the three days. De Niro was De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Hoffman
with the best actors in the world. I thought Hoffman was good in Rain Man with Tom Cruise.
Oh, he's unbelievable. Marathon Man. Marathon Man. Kramer versus Kramer to me is this first,
maybe I'm wrong, but that was one of the first big ones. It's a great movie about a divorce,
parents, a kids, great. Dustin Hoffman's got quite a resume. I'll take your word for it.
All right, let's get started with the New York Jets because that's what we do around these parts.
They're getting ready for Rogers.
They've cleared up 15.2 million in cap space
by restructuring some veteran deals.
Jets and Packers allegedly have agreed to terms
and they're just waiting for Rogers to make a decision.
This sounds so fishy and stupid.
Hey, we got a deal in place.
Do you want to go to New York?
Well, stars have.
Divas, you mean?
We're not calling him stars.
He's a diva.
Do you think Aaron's a diva?
Do you?
That's not a real question.
Of course.
Okay.
Really?
I don't know if I'd classify him.
I mean, I guess a little bit.
We don't have a lot of diva quarterbacks in the league.
We don't.
He's certainly at the top of the list.
Baker Mayfield for a couple years when he led the league in commercials and interceptions.
Oh, I don't consider Baker a diva at all.
No, he was, Baker was, I thought, a little immature, but not a diva.
It was always about Baker on the field.
Remember when he, like, tossed the football at Hugh Jackson and it's like getting a shot?
Baker was more of a hot shot, but not a diva.
Baker's a beer drinking cigars with the boys golf on the weekends.
He's not above anybody.
Baker's like a normal dude.
He was just, I thought for the moment,
he could have been a little more buttoned up to be a franchise guy at the podium.
I don't know him personally, but.
I don't either, but I don't, he's not.
Diva is sort of like I'm above.
I don't play by the rules.
Baker was just a little.
You don't remember Baker and all those press conferences sneering at the reporter's questions?
Well, it's the media.
That's diva.
Well, nobody likes the media.
Aaron Rogers certainly.
doesn't. I don't see Pat Mahomes turning his nose
up at the media. I don't see Josh Allen doing
that stuff. Come on. Is Aaron a Diva? Do you guys
think, okay, everybody says yes here.
All right. Yeah, all right.
Everybody agrees with all the time.
I don't know.
I would say he's
Aaron. He is high maintenance.
Now that's fair. And that's
my interpretation. Aaron's always been
I see high maintenance, high correlation
with Diva. Okay. All right.
Next up. Tampa Bay Bucks.
Oh, here we go. Perfect segue.
The Tampa Bay Bucks lose Brady.
Yeah.
They got Kyle Trask in their impressive quarterback room right now.
And one player, they're reportedly expected to target is Baker Mayfield.
Not bad.
Now, Colin, every time I hear, they're expected to target Baker Mayfield.
That seems to me like the agent trying to drum up interest.
Hey, Tampa's interested.
Any other takers?
Well, I don't think there's a huge market for Baker.
I thought it was the Rams and maybe Tampa.
But, you know, he's good enough to win six-seven games for them.
And Todd Bowles will be fired if they win six or seven games.
Todd Bulls needs a path to...
And then I think this team's on a short list of get Caleb Williams next year.
Oh, yeah.
So why get Baker?
Just Trout...
Well, I don't think Baker is going to win you 10 games.
He made the Rams respectable at the end?
Yeah, no, he's capable.
I think he's one of the 32 best quarterbacks in the world.
I think Tampa's headed back toward extreme irrelevance like they were before Brady arrived.
I think you're probably right.
It was like James Winston and 35.
Well, if they wanted Derek Carr or Garoppolo, we look at the price tags.
Derek Carr and Garoppolo both went for.
What they went for is pretty cheap.
The bucks are so cash strapped.
I saw their shopping, one of their guards, they're going to lose offensive linemen.
They dumped Donovan Smith last week.
They're in a full-on repo.
You're right.
As a tear-down, there could be some value here as worst team in the league next year.
Like, if you could bet on who's going to get the number one picked, I think they could be in the mix.
Yeah.
The defense is losing a ton of guys.
Final story.
Derek Carr, getting a fresh start in New Orleans
after that rough ending with the Raiders.
Derek Carr was officially introduced by the Saints over the weekend.
He said that he has a new fire to prove to see what he can do.
I think for me, I just get to come in and show my work ethic
and really prove it again.
You know, I mean, I'd be lying to you.
I didn't have a chip on my shoulder with how everything finished.
You know, I didn't plan on or dream of it finishing that way.
That's for sure.
when I was told of why, and I understood the business side of why certain things were happening, all that, I mean, I get it.
But, you know, for me as a competitor, I wanted to finish with my teammates and all that kind of stuff, it lit a fire in me that I've always had, but it just made it hotter, you know.
And it gave me this excitement to it, okay, I can't wait to get into another building and show everybody, you know, just what I'm capable of and just what I can do.
Derek, I'll have you know many critics. I'm not one of them. He's going to win the division.
Way to go out on a limb there.
Geez.
That division's garbage.
They're going to lose Davenport, their edge rusher.
I saw that today.
What about Cam Jordan?
Is he?
Cam will come back, but they're going to lose.
So they'll have an elite.
You don't need two great pass rushers, but they're going to lose Davenport.
So somebody's going to pick up a really good young pass rusher.
So they're winning the division.
Any shot Atlanta and Lamar Jackson?
That's the only curveball right there.
Well, it's very interesting.
They're loading up on tight ends.
Yeah, you saw that?
Atlanta's loading up on tight ends with Lamar.
That's a very effective way for him to move the ball.
By the way, not a lot of chatter about Lamar Jackson this morning on social media.
Wonder what's going on behind the scenes.
Do you think something's being engineered?
Usually when there's no smoke at all, something comes out of nowhere.
Yeah, good point.
Usually the big deals, nobody telegraphs.
Exactly.
So we've heard nothing about Lamar in the last, I don't know, 48 hours.
Do you, I think deep down, my takeaway is Green Bay is trying to be gracious.
Green Bay wants Aaron to choose the Jets.
I believe that.
I think because he's not going to have, AFC's too loaded.
I think Green Bay wants him.
And also they get to play Jordan Love.
Jordan Love said if I don't start, I'm out of here.
So they could have two dilemmas.
Jordan loves like, get me out of here.
I want to play.
And Aaron says, I'll play for one more year.
So that's the worst case.
I can argue the worst case scenario for Green Bay, as Aaron says right now goes to Instagram and says,
I'll go back to Green Bay for one year.
Well, Jordan Love has said and told people, this has been reported, I want to play this year.
I'm out.
So then you've got to move potentially Jordan Love.
What's the market for Jordan Love, though?
I don't think GMs are climbing over women and children to get their hands on Jordan Love.
I don't know what it is, but if I was a, I don't know.
I think he can play.
From what I've seen, I think he can play.
The 27 snaps against the Eagles, was it right?
Solid and a backup.
It hurts.
I think he can play a little.
Yeah, we'll see.
J-Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.

It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what you're saying.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from Bats,
basketball to college football or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes,
creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do a little kill?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed cracks.
I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Now you're finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
We're going to play any NFL news.
So free agency is ramped up.
Teams are now making moves.
It's now as of nine.
this morning or noon Eastern. You can make moves.
The Broncos did get Mike McGlinchy
a excellent right tackle
to go with Garrett Bulls, their left tackle.
So John Payton is
fixing his offensive line. Jimmy Garoppolo
now officially goes to the Raiders.
That is a solid pick,
I think. No
ground breaking moves as of yet
Garoppolo or the Raiders is the biggest move
today. It's still early. Do you see the Raiders
as a playoff team in the AFC?
No. In the NFC, absolutely.
In the AFC, I don't.
you? I'm going to go no.
I like the move, but
I just don't see who they're leapfroggy. It's loaded
in the AFC. All right. We're going to play
Fields or the Field.
So Chicago, by
making that deal with Carolina,
they're sticking with Justin Fields.
So you give me the two quarterbacks and I'll tell you
all things consider.
Productivity, everything,
who I would take. So on your team, would you
rather have Justin Fields or
Bryce Young? Very
close, but I would take Bryce Young because I
I think he's, I could reset my clock financially.
He's also a 86% completion percentage guy.
I think he has very unique accuracy and field awareness that it's hard to team.
He was the number one high school quarterback, number one college quarterback.
I think he's special.
I worry about his size, but I think if given the two, I think Bryce is a more natural
quarterback and a more natural distributor accurately of the football.
If he takes 55 sacks like Fields, I don't think he's making it to season 2.
It's got to go to the right place.
Would you rather have Justin Fields or C.J. Stroud?
I think Justin Fields is a better athlete, a little thicker.
I just think he's sort of a different level athlete.
So I would take Justin Fields.
How about Justin Fields or Will Levis, the kid out of Kentucky?
I would take Justin Fields.
Will Levis.
I do think some of the criticisms,
seem unfair.
I mean, Kentucky didn't have a first or a second team,
all SEC offensive performer.
So his numbers looked like Eli Manning's in college,
but he's kind of ripped, a little inflexible,
little mechanical, big arm.
But my gut feeling said Justin Fields gives me that arm
with more running ability, I take Fields.
So this is the big one,
Justin Fields or Florida bodybuilder, Anthony Richardson.
I would take Justin Fields. Anthony Richardson hasn't played. He has 13 starts. So they both have accuracy issues, but Justin's played a lot of football. So I'm, I don't know what to make of Anthony Richardson. I just, you know, the Cam Newton comparisons are silly because Cam was so dominant and refined. When you watch Cam play, he was in total control. Was Noah's my favorite quarterback. But Cam was a profoundly dominant player.
in the SEC. I remember him running over LSU players. This kid is a kid. It barely played and
has been hit and miss as a performer. Now, this one I like a lot. Would you rather have Justin Fields or
Aaron Rogers? Aaron Rogers. Today, come on. Rogers for one year or you develop a, a bromance
with Fields for many years and maybe he's your franchise quarterback. We don't know if he can play in this
league. I think he can. I mean, we don't know how long Aaron Rogers is going to play in this
We know he can play.
You like the short-term stuff, huh?
You just like a little rental action.
I'm like LeBron.
I just move off people.
Justin Fields is a layup.
Or Daniel Jones.
Justin Fields.
Yeah.
Justin Fields are much.
Deshawn Watson is a little tougher.
Now I take Justin Fields.
Deshawn only completed 58% of his throws.
I can't build my team around him.
I got nothing against him.
It's a hard one.
How many great?
player, go look at the pro bowl list in the NFL.
My buddy John Middlkoff, former NFL
scout said this. Go look at the pro bowl list.
How many guys have character issues?
And you want me with my quarterback
to put my arms around to Sean Watson?
I'm sorry. It's like,
find me the great quarterback's NFL history.
You're like, yeah, now he's got this little
issue. I'd love to discuss.
I can't build it. But are we past
that? That was years ago.
I think that was so bizarre and
weird. I can't get past it.
It's just too weird for me.
Justin Fields or Mac Jones?
Now, you're going to be surprised.
I take Mac because I think Mac is a terrific, accurate.
So right now, Mac Jones has a better record,
higher completion percentage, and higher passer rating.
You got Bill Belichick and the Bears coach.
Come on.
That's not fair.
I'm not even a huge Mac Jones fan.
Think I'm wrong.
Google his rookie stats when he had nothing to work with.
I think Max's a little better.
Except for Josh McDaniels, one of the good offensive minds of the last.
20 years. I'm going to take Mac. I like people who get the ball accurately to my guy.
Okay. Justin Fields or Dak Prescott? A Dak Prescott.
Dak Prescott's a B-plus quarterback in the NFL. Absolutely, Dak.
That's also top 10 all-time and completion percentage. All time. I didn't know that.
He's 66.6%. So you're a completion percentage guy.
Well, I think not, I just, I tend to think athletic ability. If you're throwing 67%
completions for most coaches and you're not throwing a ton of picks now
DAC had a lot of picks this year but by and large in
Dax career when you ask him to throw fewer than 35 times he doesn't throw a lot of
picks he's efficient I just wonder what would Fields be if Brian
Davele was his offensive coordinator that that's a quote we'll never know we will
not know the answer better how much better like Josh Allen became an elite
quarterback he'd be better seemingly overnight yeah Justin Fields or Gino
Smith.
I think Justin's a far
greater athlete.
I don't think
this Gino Renaissance
is going to laugh.
I think he'll be fine
next year, but I think
you know, I think
Gino, you know, we've seen this
guys have like bubble years
where they just, everything,
lightning in a bottle and everything works.
I don't think Gino's going to duplicate it.
Finally,
would you rather have Justin Fields
or Baker Mayfield?
Justin Field.
Yeah, I'm a bigger, stronger
kid.
Yeah, the only one you and I disagree with,
I think Mack Jones is going to
bounce back and everybody's going to go,
Yeah, you can win a lot of games with Mac Jones.
In fact, this morning, I'm not so sure.
I don't have New England Mac Jones winning the division.
Oh, stop.
Okay, and let's remember, Justin Fields just added DJ Moore,
DJ Moore, Chase Claypool.
Like, all of a sudden, they're rounding into shape.
They got a lot of money to spend it free agency.
Here come DeBarris.
Slow down.
So, the chiefs are signing former Jags right tackle, Joan Taylor.
Hmm.
He'll play.
Oh, so he's going to play.
play left tackle replacing Orlando Brown.
That's interesting.
Orlando Brown was really good last year.
But he wants the full bag.
He wants like all.
So now Kansas City needs a right tackle because Andrew Wiley's signing with Washington,
Eric B. Enemy.
So Chiefs have had some tackle movement over the last several years.
So Jags' right tackle, Joanne Taylor, is going to come in and play left tackle.
and they're looking for a right tackle.
Well, they can draft one.
What a fun day.
It's just news hot and heavy, left and right.
This is why the NFL is so much fun.
You got all these young general managers that they're poker players.
Before we go, let me ask.
So the jets have been sweating bullets all morning.
Can you believe?
Players are coming off the board.
The jets are, we can't do anything.
At what point do you put in a call to Aaron?
Hey, we need to know.
Give us an answer.
You got an hour.
Do you do, do you put it on?
I'm like, we need to know now.
Well, you don't.
If Lamar Jackson's not in the plans, he's just not in the plans.
You've made a decision, we're not going to go with Lamar Jackson.
That style, we're not built for it.
Then you're in no hurry because Aaron's going to decide one of two things.
If he decides, Jets, you're good.
If he decides not, you're in the lottery.
There's nobody out there.
Well, again, if you're in the lottery, Robert Sala is on the unemployment line.
He's looking for a job.
And Joe Douglas is not the GM next year.
they are in the lottery, meaning they're four or five wins.
That's how it goes.
I don't know how those two aren't pushing for Lamar Jackson, Colin.
In the plans, figure out the plans.
You guys want to save your jobs?
Do you want to be here next year?
You like living in New York?
Or do you want to go like scrambling and maybe have to uproot your family and go to,
I don't know, pick an NFL, Jacksonville or wherever because we all got fired.
What do you want?
I mean, there's a lot at stake here, Colin.
These guys have families and kids and you think the wives want to get moved out of New York?
What about Matt Stafford?
We'll see.
I'd take Stafford.
There's a lot of talk.
I would take them.
You know, we were on Stafford early here in January.
Your guy Wes pulled the clip.
Stafford Jets.
I would love to see that happen.
Lamar or Stafford.
We'll see you tomorrow.
