Big speaker, too, everywhere, not just on TV. So Emmanuel Ocho is joining us. So I'll just lay it out to you. I don't want you to have to give away all your good material here. Of course. I have plenty, by the way. So let me, let me, let me, I'll steer it towards something. If Brian Flores had just said, I'm suing the dolphins, that in itself,

due to the allegations is a bomb. Asking an African-American coach to tank games when historically they don't get the second job if the first one doesn't work. Let's first talk about that. Are you shocked at that allegation? I'm not at all shocked. Remember, there's a disconnect between ownership and coaches and players. It's not just a disconnect between the upper level and the lower level.

Ownership has a goal in mind. Oh, we want the next number one overall pitch. Because the next number one overall pick might be Andrew Luck. It might be John Elway. It might be Troy Aitman. But head coaches, they want to play with the hand that they're dealt. So often, people play the hand that they wish they had instead of the hand that they're dealt. And head coaches have a tendency to play that the hand that they're dealt.

No, this is a roster we currently have. Let's move with that. Owners are kind of like the people on Price is Right who always go for what's behind door number one. But what's behind door number one is rarely ever better than what you have in front of you. So I'm not at all shocked by the allegation. It is owners who don't really know what it takes to coach grown men and what it takes to win games. At the end of the day,

most owners are just very rich individuals that are happy to own a team and hope it does well. Yeah, I mean, I think for years this is how I thought. Owners, they're the smartest guys on every team. And then you watch and hear things over the course of my life, I've had multiple coaches telling me stories about owners. and it's crazy town. I mean, we always say there's seven great quarterbacks, that's all.

I'd argue there's seven great owners, that's all. So Hugh Jackson came out today, was on social media, said, yeah, my owner was paying me more to lose games as well. So, like, I don't think it's, I think some of these owners are out of their gourd. Did you ever have a relationship with any of the owners in the NFL? I'm not a personal relationship like my brother, who was the executive vice president of the NFLPA, but I am very perceptive.

So I would just watch some of the owners. And we'll get into that, sure, over the course these next 10 minutes. But I didn't have a personal relationship, but oftentimes you can acquire more information through watching than through talking. And that's why I acquired all my info. Yeah.

The lawsuit itself, do you worry, because this happens all the time, that the lawsuit is so broad that it will limit Brian Flores, career going forward? No. This is the first time that I think at least from a black person in football, Brian Flores, as opposed to Colin Kaepernick, that Brian Flores will likely win, depending on how you define when, he will win on all levels. I do think Brian Flores will coach again, first and foremost, maybe even in this coaching cycle. I do think Brian Flores will win the lawsuit because the information is

so blatantly obvious and it is so damning. I think he will win the lawsuit. I think he will win the lawsuit. I think Brian Flores will win on each and every account in several ways. Because, realistically speaking, Flores could have just, I don't even know that Flores will settle. Like, Flores, if you know him as a coach, he is a fighter. Yes, that's who he is. And I don't think he just wants money. He wants change. He wants to actually see this corrupt system be somehow dismantled.

How will it go about being dismantled? You know, I have some ideas, but Flores doesn't just want money if you know anything about Brian Flores, I think he actually wants change and he's going for it. Yeah, he's fighting for a cause, something beyond himself. Correct. When I saw the Belichick, I thought it was important. When I saw the Belichick text and I saw Brian Flores on CBS this morning, I thought this was really important.

He was measured. He didn't go on just ranting because a lot of people are angry. It's called social media. Everybody's angry. But I thought it was really important when he used this word. He said I was humiliated. And I was like, ooh, because all of us pimples in high school, we put on weight, we didn't get a job, a girl embarrassed us.

We've all been humiliated. And it's awful. And I thought when he said that, I was like, oh, bro, I got your back. Like, I thought that was important. I thought the minute you go vulnerable on me, because we've all been burned. Yeah. You asked a pretty girl out at one point. She said no.

And that car ride home is awful. when he said that, and this is obviously way more serious, but when he said that, I thought, God, that is so damn human, you cannot be against him if you're a reasonable person. Yeah. So now you get to the best point of them all. Everybody should stand behind Brian Flores,

and here's why. I will preface with this, though, Colin, you owe me a take, because I'm about to use my best speak for yourself take right now on the hurt. So you owe me a take. I will take it over the next few weeks. I'll say it like this.

Everybody has a group message, Not one group message. You have two. The first group message, you keep that one annoying friend in. And the second group message, it's the identical as the first, but you remove that one friend. So when you plan your Cabo trips, you make sure not to text a group message with that one annoying friend. When you plan your DR trips, you make sure not to text the one group message with that annoying friend. Problem.

That one annoying friend, they understand that a group message exists without them, but they can't prove it. So they're just wondering, are they talking about me behind my back? Black coaches and black players, we to a degree understand there's a private group message going on amongst white NFL coaches and owners. But we can't prove it. The problem is Bill Belichick texted the wrong group message. And when Belichick texted the wrong group message, figuratively I am speaking, obviously, audience, when he texted the wrong group message, it's like, gotcha. I knew that behind my back, you all were colluding, so to speak. I knew that behind my back, black coaches now speaking, I'm speaking on behalf of them, there was another group message.

But you can't fix something from the outside. You can only fix it from the inside, so it will take the likes of the coaches on the inside, historically speaking, the white coaches, to actually say something. Bill Belichick did it incidentally, as opposed to intentionally, but now we know the group message exists and we have to operate with the knowledge and the cognition that wait a second, there are private conversations going on. Brian Flores had an interview set for January 27th, but Bill Belichick texts Flores on January 24th, congratulations, you got the job. That very simply means that we already knew the giants who they were hiring before even meeting with Flores. So it's so blatantly obvious, Colin, what is going on. If you are just a reasonable person,

and you understand, you've got to get behind Flores in this moment. And not even because it's a race thing, just because it's an equality thing. Like, you have to get behind Flores in this moment. There have been in recent years, more black GMs hired young. Is that encouraging to you? It's a catch-22. I can't say it's not encouraging because personally, I take all small victories. A small victory.

But I think when you are a black coach, it's almost like, what's the catch? You always got to ask yourself, in all honesty, like, potentially when you're elevated as a black person to a position of power throughout all society, what's the catch? Are you a pawn in a greater grand game of chess that you don't realize you're being played into? But what's the catch? I'll give you this example. You now owe me two takes because I'm also using my second take for speak. I'll give you this example. 2015 is my last year

with the Philadelphia Eagles. Chip Kelly was the head coach. Jeffrey Lurie was the owner. I have no issues with Jeffrey Lurie. I have no issues with general manager, Howie Roseman. I think they are relatively good people. Deuce Daly, black man,

former Eagles running back. He was the running back coach. Chip Kelly gets fired, I think week 15 of the season. I see Eagles are going to interview before the season ends running back, Deuce Daly. Everybody and a mama knows

Duce is not getting this job. At least I knew. And why did I know? Because I've been in a locker room with Deuce. He's a running back coach. He was drafted to the Eagles as a running back. He's viewed as a running back. He's not viewed as a head coach.

Our offensive coordinator was Pat Shermer, a former head coach, white guy. Defensive coordinator, Billy Davis, been in a league for years, white guy. And you're going to interview Deuce daily for head coach before the season ends? Rooney Rule. Instantly thinking, Rooney Rule. Of course, Deuce didn't get the job. Okay, five years. Later, Doug Peterson, fired by the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles are going to interview running back coach Deuce Daly for the head coaching position. Deuce, you're not getting this job. But as a black man, what's Duce supposed to do? Turn down the interview? Then everybody will start to say, well, Duce Daly didn't want to be a head coach. He turned down the interviews. But if you take the interview, you understand you're just a pawn. Let's talk about the Giants one more time.

And then I'll get back to whatever else you want to discuss. The reports allege that the Giants have only. ever interviewed more than one minority candidate since the inception of the Rooney rule, meaning they are doing the bare minimum. If you only ever do the bare minimum in life, you didn't want to do it anyway. If Colin the significant other asked you, hey, you know, can you clean the house? And all you do is sweep a floor, you weren't really trying to clean the house. So if you only ever do the bare minimum, you're only doing it because somebody told you to.

The giant, since the inception of the Rooney Rule, they hired Cofflin, McAdo, Shirmer, Judge, and now Daibol. Five coaches. And you only ever interviewed more than one black person one time. If y'all can do the math at home, that's 20% of the time one out of five, then you're only doing it because you're forced to. Here's, I'll have an opinion, and maybe it becomes a question, is that there's a real argument to be made that what Brian did in Miami is really hard. average to below average roster average the below average quarterback and he won and oh by the way he was a pain in bellichick's ass

because he beat him twice this year. So did McDermott but he has Josh Allen. So I'm just saying if I was Amara and I looked at it and I thought we're not great at quarterback and the roster needs help I've got a Brooklyn kid who essentially has our dilemma and in our division

we have Mike McCarthy you, we don't have Belichick. I got Dak, not Josh Allen. I can make an argument. The climb in the AFC East, and I'm stopping Josh. Josh Allen has owned the dolphins. Belichick's the smartest coach ever. So to me, it's obvious.

I like the Brooklyn thing, and I also like that Cofflin and Parcells are tough guys. Brian's a tough guy. That works in New York, right? Like tough guys as coach, Joe Torrey. Nobody mess with Joe Tori. And so when I look at the Mars, I think he did what you need.

Now, I'm not saying Dayball won't work, but he's never been a coach, and they've whiffed on three straight coordinators. Flores is almost the perfect northern solution, because he did it down south. Does that, when I say that, that's why

as an owner, I'm like, well, and Mara's making the Giants Daibol stick with Daniel Jones. There's only one coach in the league now with a winning record in back-to-back years with a bad quarterback. It's Brian Flores. I mean, to me, he's almost a natural fit. Am I reaching there?

No, you're right, but we have to stop down on this one word, perfect solution. And you can't have something perfect if it's packaged in imperfection. And if Brian Flores is packaged, the exterior is not perfect, then the solution can't be perfect. Because all you named were characteristics and traits of a head coach. But you got to remember, like, what is John? Marr looking for was he looking for somebody who kind of looked figuratively and literally speaking like Brian Flores right Brian Flores was terminated from the dolphins because of poor collaboration poor collaboration in and of itself has discriminatory undertones right like poor collaboration

simply says we can't get along the only thing they couldn't get along with is Flores didn't want to lose games on purpose like they didn't want to lose games on purpose so yes it's perfect but it's perfect based on how you're looking at it, Colin, and you're looking at actual coaching intangibles, whereas I do think there's just an issue of race and not we can remove race from it. There's an issue of cultural understanding or lack thereof that is a disconnect

that so many owners haven't been able to get past. All right, so you've given us like six takes. I'm not going to ask you for a seven. That'd be greedy. That'd be greedy. Do you have Emmanuel Ocho, Coho speak for yourself? Where's your next speaking? engagement, by the way.

Well, we haven't talked about Ben Simmons not playing in a while. so why not we let's just go through it again. The sixes have gone back and forth all season with him, and Simmons is reportedly still upset about the comments made by Joelle and Beat in Doc Rivers after his poor playoff performance last season. And Doc addressed the situation again yesterday. He said, I have always supported Ben.

I want him to do well. It's just the excuses and all that stuff. One of the things I tell all my players is that respect is a two-way street, especially these young guys. You can't expect to ignore us or not listen and then want us to do something different to you. You have to respect each other in order to be successful in life.

Simmons has sat out all 50 games so far this season. And he's reportedly been fined $19 million for miss games, practices, and team meetings. Why do I? I mean, again, is Ben Simmons, I would pay Joel Embed to respect because he's a, probably the best big guy in the game. Yeah. What has Ben Simmons done in the NBA that I have to pay him this level of respect? again, Donovan Mitchell, Joel Embedde, Steph Curry.

There are all stars that have earned my admiration and respect. Ben Simmons would not listen to coaching. First year he was hurt. Second year he was talented. Third year, we identify a problem. He's never been willing to work on it. I don't know what you're looking for. Yeah, you can't shoot.

At all. I don't know. I don't understand the Ben Simmons situation. It's fascinating to me. Why would you leave $19 million on the table, lose a year of your young playing career because somebody said something about you that you didn't like. To me, well, yes, but I don't, my brain, first of all, I'm not afforded that opportunity, right? Like, I don't, I'm not in that space to just be mad at someone and then therefore I'm not going to work.

So I can't, I literally can't relate to this behavior. But if, in the bigger picture of his career in the NBA and the trade that they're trying to make, why if I am a team that is truly competing for a championship, would I want Ben Simmons? Because you have to consider the intangibles in this situation. You can't just consider talents. The word I think of with Ben Simmons is no longer talent. It's toxic.

I'm not bringing them into my rooms. I mean, you just can't react. To Doc and Joelle and Bede said that, probably not. Is it so egregious that they are critical after a bad performance, after a loss, you're a little emotional. Sometimes you say things when you're emotional that you don't necessarily mean. I've seen Bruce Ariens.

You're willing to leave $19 million on the table because of that? Bruce Ariens ripped Brady that first year probably three to four times publicly. I don't know what he said privately. It's called sports. Well, it's also, if you can't take criticism, I can't relate to people like that. I think that's a really, that's a really illogical way to live your life. Like if you can't be told that you're doing something wrong or that you need to improve on something

or that you hurt someone or that this is a bad decision, it's probably not going to end well for you. We're seeing we just saw, and we've talked about all day, a really bad situation in Miami. You think there's a lot of people around Stephen Ross telling him and I probably shouldn't do that? No, because he wouldn't keep them around him.

Like you can tell when people have yes people around you because you continue to make decisions that are not logical. The trade deadline is next Wednesday, February 10th. I don't think he's going to be moved this year. Mori is going to wait and try and get the best deal for him, which the longer this goes on, I don't know how the deal is getting better. But that's what they want to do. So Jerry Jones expressed frustration with Amari Cooper's production this season. And yesterday his son Stephen hinted at his own frustrations with Amari Cooper as well.

Well, it's sometimes not all on the receiver too. It's all that scheme. It's getting on the receiver, the ball, the touches, the targets that he needs. But if you're going to pay somebody, you know, a lot of money, you want them to be the best at what they do, whether that's yards, whether that's receptions, whether that's touchdowns, whether that's going touchdown passes. All those things relate to how a guy's paid. And once you pay that player a lot of money, then with that comes high expectations.

And they know that. These players know that. So his contract represents a large portion of the Cowboys salary cap. He is the third highest cap number on the team behind Doc Prescott and DeMarcus for the 22 season. So they could save $16 million against the cap by releasing him. And he failed to reach 1,000 yards receiving. for the first time in three full seasons in Dallas.

Well, the problem is Zique is no longer Zique. They're going to lose the tight end, and Michael Gallup got hurt. So they're trapped a little. C.D. Lamb and Cedric Wilson are nice pieces. But they need a number one receiver. Well, yeah, so they would go either pay for it or they, I don't know if you need a, I mean, you don't have to have a Cooper Cup or a DeAndre Hopkins. I mean, the Patriots proved that for years.

You don't need to have a number one. But then you better have two or three. you know, Van Jefferson, Odell Beckham, Cooper Cup, good tight end. You can't lose your star tight end. Well, Cooper Cup is the best receiver, probably the best receiver in the league. So he's definitely a number one receiver. But the issue with the New England comparison is you had Tom Brady throwing him. When you're Doc Prescott, who's not Tom Brady, you need a number one receiver.

I mean, Matthew Stafford and the Rams are not in the Super Bowl without Cooper Cup. Yeah, yeah. I think it's a convergence of things. Zeke's not the same player. They're going to lose their tight end probably on the most. market, Gallup got hurt, so you now need Amari Cooper. I just don't think that Amari Cooper is the issue. I think, I'm not surprised that they're putting this on Amari Cooper because he makes so much money. But the Dallas Cowboys offense does not work if they can't run the ball for more than 100 yards a game. Yeah,

they can't win game. We have the numbers. It is, it is in arguable. So if you don't have a good run game, the offense doesn't work. So it's not on Amari Cooper. Amari Cooper doesn't have anything to do with the cowboy's ability to run the ball. Yeah. So you're focused. You're focusing on a guy that makes a lot of money. Rightfully so, he makes a lot of money. You want production. But fix the offense then, because the offense doesn't work if you don't run the ball. So it's not a rocket science here.

There's a reason why it's not working. There's a reason why they can't get the ball to him. There's a reason why he doesn't have the production. You've got to be able to run the ball. It's just how it works for them. So Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to be traded this off season. And that means it's Tray season. That's what Niners gang is calling it.

You know, to be honest with you, he and Justin Fields. I'm excited to watch it. I'm very excited. I like watching this. Justin Herbert watching him develop is really fun. Well, I think it's fun also because, and we've talked about this all week, obviously, with Matthew Stafford making the Super Bowl. Sometimes in sports, we get to play out these theories that we talk about.

We get to see them develop. And we all thought that Jared Kauf was being elevated by Sean McFaig and the Rams roster. And we all thought Matthew Stafford was stuck in Detroit with a dysfunctional organization, but was wildly talented. Swap, what do we see? Detroit wins three games. Matthew Stafford's in the Super Bowl. So obviously, all the speculation,

that we had about the situation was right. Now, maybe Jared Gough and then we'll write it. I don't see them in the Super Bowl anytime soon, but maybe he's better than this year. Well, Jimmy Garapolo, Niners fans are very split on him. Obviously, the organization was split on him. That's why Tray Lance is there. And now you're going to get to see Tray Lance

in the toughest division in football with this roster and Jimmy Garoppolo on another team that I think the Niners will send him to a competitive team. So we're going to get to see how this plays out. And I can't wait to see it. Yeah, I'm the same way. I just, I like, it's, I think Trey Lance is going to be good.

I'm pretty sure. I'm not completely sure. And I will be when I watch, give me to Thanksgiving. Yeah. Give me, give me 10 starts and I'll have a very good feel. I've gotten two starts.

He's big enough, mobile enough, strong enough, and can make throws. He has, he has a wow factor to him and his play. No question. He just needs time to develop. Yep. Joy with the news.

He stands up for what he believes in, and he's certainly a guy that everyone in our organization had a tremendous amount of respect and appreciation for. He was a big reason why we won a lot of games when he was with us in New England. He's been a good friend to me for a long time and certainly has the support of everybody, I'm sure, in terms of what he's doing. He's a good friend. Yeah, I'm interested in the fallout to Stephen Ross, 80 years old, owner of the dolphins on the tanking accusations.

Certain things are just left. better unsaid. Like, everybody knows the dolphins wanted a really good pick. That goes without saying. But you can't ask a coach to lose. Football is different. You're getting tackled. It's head on a swivel.

It's just not a sport. You can ask a locker room full of men to go at anything less than full absolute speed. The locker room doesn't care about you getting the number one overall pick. All of those guys can't put bad tape out or they'll be out of the league. They're not going to go out there and lose. So organizations tank, not players. And coaches are an extension of the players. So to ask him to do this and compromise his integrity in his first years ahead coach is outrageous.

So Jim Harbaugh is interviewing for the Minnesota Vikings job today. He'll certainly be, you know, if Harbaugh gets tired anywhere, I wouldn't have a problem with it. He's been really good. Like Flores, he has a reputation that he can be strong and, rigid. It's not hurting Jim Harbaugh. I do think Jim's kind of come to a conclusion after beating Ohio State. As somebody that's moved four or five times professionally, timing is really important. And I think Jim realizes he's rebuilt the brand he's very proud of.

They beat Ohio State. Now they go to Columbus. Not that he's peaked, but this is the best year. He's won over 10 games or more four times. But he's rebuilt a brand seven years to long time. The recruiting's going well. And he didn't like taking a pay cut. But I don't think you could fault him for getting back into the NFL. I said this yesterday.

I don't think Minnesota is a great job. It's a well-owned organization. But I think in one year, you're looking for a quarterback. So that's not ideal. You can win. I mean, essentially, that was his issue in San Francisco. Alex Smith, Kaepernick, he ended up at the end losing confidence in Kaepernick.

Alex Smith was gone and Jim was 8 and 8. I mean, you can only be so effective. What Flores did in Miami, which is win with a bad roster and a mediocre quarterback, is just virtually impossible in this league. It is just really hard. Zach Taylor, we think now is good. Before Burrow, he was 6 and 25. Like, it's really rough.

And that's why I always said, as good as Big Vey is, Goff has to have talent. You can't get to a Super Bowl with a quarterback with no talent. And we saw it in Detroit.
