This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor?
It signals to the world that you're not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.
Listen to learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast.
Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan, so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun,
thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes.
Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away,
such as the biology of Tontons and Wampas on the ice planet,
or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule of two.
Listen to stuff to blow your mind on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show.
This is a place for raw, unfilts of coverage.
conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
So let's get to it.

I'm all worked up. So since the election, all these Hollywood types on their ivory towers
are leaving Twitter slash X. Would they have left if their side won? It's just funny. You sit up
in your ivory tower, one of the reasons I'll never leave X is because I have strong opinions,
you have a right to strong opinions against me. Well, that's the game. If you can only play the game
when everything goes your way, don't read your replies. I don't read my replies. So take your shots,
but you have every right to do it. But all these, it's just so funny, people leaving now,
it's like, oh, would you have left if your side won? So you love judging, you love being critical,
sitting in your ivory tower, but now the heat gets turned up and you don't like it.
Bunch of phonies.
Take the heat.
How much of this do you think is election versus, say, the guy who now owns X?
Oh, but he owned X for two years.
Right, but now he was just instrumental in said election.
Well, so what?
And he's a very polarizing guy.
I mean, listen, the rockets in space are awesome.
You know who else?
Some of the other stuff less awesome.
By the way, George Soros, he's real rich.
He's held the other side.
That's the game we let.
It's America.
That's always been the case.
He's less Carnival Barker because he's not front-facing.
This other guy wants to be, you know, in front of everybody.
He's less brilliant.
Did he create Tesla?
Is he sending rockets to the moon?
He has done that.
He's also done a lot of not good stuff, which is the case of the law.
This is not a political commentary.
It is, if you're going to sit in your ivory tower on social media and judge others,
which Hollywood's prone to do, will then suck it up, Buttercup.
Deal with it when your side loses.
I'm in the ivory tower when it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I was lobbing grenades all offseason.
And now there's seven and two?
And they're crushing you.
Take it slow. I'm taking all the arrows. Bring them on. I was wrong.
I was wrong on Pittsburgh. I'm not going to leave.
Steeler fans are mean to me. You should be. You're a fan.
And I was wrong. Take your hacks.
Yeah.
Now, you're irrational on the Chief's hate.
Oh, here we go.
At least my Steelers' criticism had some merit.
Okay, fine. The Chiefs could miss the playoffs after Rashy Rice went down.
That was a bit of a swing and a miss.
Just a bit outside, as they say, in Major League.
Yeah, I actually said that.
I don't care if you want to leave any platform because people can be vile, especially anonymous people.
But a lot of the judgiest people are now leaving it.
A lot of the judgiest people.
And I'm judgy.
I am judgy, but I'm not leaving it.
When I'm wrong, I don't, you know, I'm not deleting a second hour every Monday.
Here's Roy screwed up.
Take your wax at me.
I don't mind people taking wax at me because I take wax at people.
And when you're right, unlike the Broncos, we hear about it every day for six, six months.
I try to get people on the show Monday, last hour.
They don't want to be on the show.
I'm not going to give away who it was.
Oh, ooh.
Whatever.
Listen, we're not as close as we used to be because I'm only hearing this on Thursday.
Come on, man.
What happened?
You got some stuff going on you want to talk about?
No, it was just, you know, not everybody loves me.
Usually you plug me in on this.
I have a right to ask you on the show and you have a right to say no.
I have a right to a tough question.
you have a right not to answer it.
Jim Harbaugh didn't like me.
Now he adores me.
So that's the game.
I just don't like people who preach
and can't take it back.
Would Lincoln Riley come on the show if they lose this weekend?
Well, I wouldn't want them on the show if you know.
Well, you could ask them the tough questions.
Somebody has to.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m.

The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast, it's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger.

What would you eat if you had to start over?
Real simple, poor man's, poor woman's food.
Black beans, chicken, rice, plantains.
Yeah.
That's all.
That's poor people's food, man.
But being Nigerian, that's, come on, a go-to.
On the podcast eating while broke, I sit down with celebrities,
entrepreneurs, and creators as they revisit the meals they once relied on
and the moments that shaped their journey.
Named Best Food Podcasts at the 2006 I-Heart Podcast Awards,
This show is all about real conversations on money, growth, and what it really takes to make it.
It was times where me and Lex were, like, definitely getting into it.
Because we're not making any money.
Like, I need to start making money.
Like, why are we doing this?
But I don't know.
I think we just always knew that we had something really good.
And eventually people were going to catch on.
And so we just thugged it out.
The full season is available to binge.
Right now.

Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover,
and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash
and hormonal crying jag at a time.
You ladies know what I mean.
I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do.
So let's talk about it.
Join me on my new podcast.
How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva,
where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood
as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS.
All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like,
What the hell is that?
I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that Ness was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Wait, what sex?
Dating at 45. How hard can it be?
How can it be? Getting naked at 50 with the new guy.
That one's kind of hard, no?
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say that.
this out loud in public.
Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva
as part of my Cultura podcast network

The story I've told myself about love or relationships

JMAQ with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
All right, it's Bo next time, Colin.
Listen, he's had a really good season.
The rookies had a lot of progress since the opener.
And they had the Chiefs on the ropes last week before that lucky, blocked field goal,
save KC season.
Peyton discussed a moment he saw between Knicks and Mahomes during the postgame handshake.
It was funny after the game, you know, you're going across the field, and I see Andy and a few of the other guys, and I see Patrick and known him, and he just turned to me, said, you got one.
And I think he told Bo, hey, we're going to have a lot of good games.
And that's something coming from him.
Sure is. You got one.
Peyton's in a much better headspace this year.
Remember last year the press conferences with Russell Wilson?
It was like, ooh.
Well, I think Sean and Russell are different people.
Forget the football.
Certainly.
One is very curt and direct.
One is more optimistic.
That is okay.
Not everything's a perfect fit.
But also, Russ is a veteran.
He's not his first rodeo.
Bo Nix is like, hey, I'm happy to be here.
You know, it's great.
Russell's flourishing.
Sean's crushing.
Both win.
That's a good point.
They're both winning.
I don't think it's a good habit to root against people.
I've never once rooted against Baker-Matefield.
Never one time.
I tried to hire him on my company, the volume.
I made an offer to hire him to do college football podcasting.
Emily Baker, Baker's a wonderful guy.
I know a story about Baker behind the scenes that like three people in the world know.
Wonderful guy.
He's done amazing things for people.
I didn't like the cockiness early, but the whole point is,
But rooting against people is bad for your heart.
It's bad for everything.
Should I stop rooting against the New York Giants?
Yes, you should.
What about the Patriots?
I don't need to.
They stink anyway.
No, but there are some teams I root against Miami Dolphins.
Because there were all in the division with the Jets back in the day.
No, I get that.
You're more fan than I am.
But like individuals.
I mean, even Johnny Mansell, who I crushed for years, I met Johnny Mansell.
I've heard Johnny's a great time.
I didn't think he's a great quarterback.
I'm not building my franchise around.
I don't root against Johnny.
man. Why would I root against people? Well, that is
weird. Do you think people do that a lot? Just root
against someone on principle?
I think people, yeah, there's
a lot, I don't, I don't. Oh, well.
I mean, politics divides people.
LeBron says some stuff that people just automatically
don't like him and dismiss him.
Whatever. Like, I, I mean, listen,
I can be judgy, so who am I?
But I just, I don't think, and
you're a fan, but I, I
think it's a bad practice to root against
people. A society's
better.
Angry people are not good for society.
Everybody winning, you know, everybody winning a little.
But angry people aren't a part of society.
They're sitting at home, keyboard warriors getting all angry.
They're not in society.
Like, people don't come up to you and say, man, that take was terrible cowherd.
How could you say that?
They're not like angry at you.
Nobody does that, right?
Not really.
Oh, ooh.
Well, I mean, they don't agree with me all the time.
Of course not.
Come on.
And I'm like, hey, it's no big deal.
Everybody's wrong once in a while.
NBD.
Now, here's a big story right.
That's emerging right now, Colin.
Second story is the Falcons are headed to Denver this weekend,
and Kurt Cousins is dinged up,
limited at practice yesterday with a shoulder and elbow injury to his throwing arm.
Love Denver here.
So that's probably why the line went up from, I think it was 1.5 to 2.5.
And the big story is Michael Pennix could be in line for his first career start.
Now, it's still early in the – it's only Thursday.
Drake London is fully back at practice,
but this line has crept up to
two and a half for Denver.
This would not be a great spot for Michael Pennex
outdoors in the cold
against a pretty damn good defense.
Well, he played at Indiana and Washington.
Yeah, but still, like this is Denver altitude
and this is, we just saw this Denver defense
bottle up Patrick Mahomes. Come on.
This is a good defense.
No, it's, I don't like betting games
where I don't know what the quarterback's going to give me.
I like certainty.
So you take it Denver?
I am, but it, I'd rather have Kirk Cousins.
I know what I'm getting.
Little wind, cold weather, dome
quarterback now. He played dome in Minnesota,
dome in Atlanta. He knows his ball doesn't
cut through wind, so. Yeah.
Falcon's defense is just not great.
They haven't had a pass rush in
years. And they got Jude on, remember?
Well, he's a smaller defense. He's still good,
man. No, no, no, he's a very good play. He's not Miles
Garrett or T.J. Watt. He's not as dominating, but he's
very effective. Yeah. Final story,
Colin, is to the NBA.
Now,
just going to preach a little caution here, folks.
interesting story. Stefan Clay met
the other night for the
first time since Clay left the Warriors
for the match. Curry went off for 37
and 9 assists. Curry was unbelievable
at the end of the game. I think he had 12 straight.
However, Draymond Green
has now gone on a podcast and
attributed to Curry's performance
to something of a
pregame snub from Clay Thompson.
That was supposed
to speak
before the game.
Yeah, I call Raymond and told him
I'm not speaking.
I just need to lock in on the game, so I ain't even speaking.
And I talk to Clay about it.
Before checking.
Oh, man.
And Clay goes to me, so he got pissed.
And here we go.
Here we go.
That's why he was on 10.
Yeah, well, you know, it's weird.
Listen, is it a tough one.
Clay Thompson probably thinks, hey, why didn't you have my back when they were getting rid of me?
But that's not Steph Curry's job.
Not really.
If Steph Curry said, I want Clay back, they're keeping Clay.
He did say that, but it's a salary cap sport.
I don't, listen, it's been this.
It's been this.
You can't, you can't, I want this guy back.
That's like Aaron Rogers saying, I want Alan Lazard.
He got him.
How's it work?
He got Randall Cobb.
He got the O.C.
Yeah.
Here's the only issue.
So apparently Curry, and again, this is from the podcast.
podcast, Curry had agreed to make a speech after the Clay Tribute video.
And then Draymond was like, dude, you got to lock in.
We need you.
There's a big game.
National TV, we can't lose.
And Curry's like, you're right.
Allegedly, I'm not going to speak.
So then he let Clay know that he wasn't going to speak.
And Clay just never responded.
So I don't know if it's a ghosting.
I'm sure Clay will chime in.
Have you seen the tribute video, by the way?
Yes.
I thought that was awesome.
Yeah.
And I'm not one of those sentimental lines.
I love that Clay.
Thompson. There were pictures of Clay Thompson playing,
and everybody in the stands had a
Clay hat on it. Pretty cool. They did a damn
good job on that the Warriors did. Well, yeah. I mean,
and they should. He was a remark. He's one
of the top. I mean, Rick Berry, Steph
Curry, Clay Thompson, Draymond
Green of the great warriors of all
time. There's like five or six guys,
and outside of Rick Berry, a lot
of them are
this iteration of the Warriors. So it's
amazing. By the way,
go to the Fox Sports app. The
herd will continue. Now it's U-A.
Nations League, Greece versus England on FS1.
As we continue, yeah, I think what's fascinating, we talked about regular season and
playoff basketball.
What I think is interesting with the Warriors, they're really going to be a very good
regular season team because they're playing 12 guys.
So they're so, I mean, when you play 12 guys, everybody's fresh.
Steph Curry's don't happen to play 40 minutes.
And so Steph and Draymond are still elite at what they do.
Wiggins is a bad contract.
They're stuck with it.
He's just not the same player.
He aged very quickly.
But they're playing so many guys.
So they're the classic.
Really strong regular season team won't work.
We'll see what happens in the playoffs.
By the way, now that we're on the app, I've just got to ask,
are we allowed to say obscenities or no?
I would say no.
Okay.
I just wanted to check.
Because you know, like, Cosmo Kramer, I want to let the expletives fly.
Yeah.
I think you can do that on like XM or some.
I'm serious.
I think you're allowed to do that.
Okay.
I still don't cut.
We are on national broadcast radio.
The FCC regulates that.
I thought Howard Stern blew up the FCC.
You could just say whatever he wanted.
Yeah, this isn't straightfire with Jay McIntyre
that you just get a swear like a sailor.
I do occasionally.
We have advertisers and companies,
and we're governed by the FCC right now this very moment.
Maybe Elon could take care of that for us.
He's blown up everything else.
Now, Twitter, you know, that's a, if you do whatever you want on that app.
I do think, Eli, I mean, it's what's funny about, here's one of the things I hate, that people are so partisan now, it's so ridiculous, that a comedian will crush, but if it's like a right-wing comedian, everybody's like, he's not funny, or vice versa.
Funny is funny. Dave Chappelle's funny. I don't care where his politics are. He's funny. I just saw Sebastian Manacosco in Chicago. He had a 30-minute set in the middle of his hour. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen him. I'd laugh.
so hard. My wife and I
would just in tears. So, you
know, that drives me nuts.
Like, we've gotten so partisan everybody.
Elon Musk, he's not that smart.
He created PayPal by
31, then Tesla.
Now it's Mars, rocket ships.
I'm going to say he's fairly bright.
In a Starlink is his? Starlink is crushing.
Yeah, I'm going to say he's smart. Smarter than, like,
newspaper columnist at the Des Moines
Register that rips him.
Like, I mean, it's a
entrepreneur or columnist in Des Moines.
I mean, I don't like when people marginalize somebody's intellect, talent, musical, ability, comedy.
Because, you know, this guy's not funny.
Dave Chappelle is funny all the time.
I don't even know what his politics are.
But that's where tribalism goes off the rails for me.
Like I think Sebastian Manacowocco, John Mullaney, Dave.
Kevin Hart, come on.
Give my guy, Kevin Hart.
By the way, have you ever seen Joe Rogan live?
I've seen him at the comedy store where this is before you look.
I'm sure he's funny.
He's really good.
I thought it was hilarious.
David Spade, like he's in that.
I think Rogan's good at stand-up.
I like it.
Rogan's good at a lot of stuff.
Yeah.
He's like a judo guy.
He's a podcast star.
He's great on the UFC.
He's fantastic on the UFC.
He's a talented guy.
And again, there's a certain segment in our country.
Now, Joe Rogan is very dangerous.
He's a podcaster.
I don't even know where he lines up politically all the time.
I have no idea what Joe Rogan is.
Surely you saw that.
But, like, even you and I,
I don't agree with everything you say, but I'm not going to like dislike you or discount you because, you know, that's how normal people function.
Yeah, what kind of normal?
Yeah, I think.
My sister and I always talk about.
My sister's very, very normal.
I'm probably less normal, but it's just like it's okay.
You don't have to agree with everything I agree with.
It's, it's a, I vacation with people.
There's a couple couples I vacation with.
They're probably more conservative than me.
What do I care?
We have a great time.
They're philanthropic.
They're wonderful people.
They own companies.
They treat their employees great.
They're good.
Just good dad's like, what do I care?
I don't care if you and I have a border disagreement or a...
It's not like they're rolling up to dinner wearing a red hat, you know, or anything like that.
No.
I had to.
I'm sorry.
Somebody laughed.
Make cocktails with Colin great again.
That's the hat.
Everybody should wear.
Make big ten picks great again.
Actually, they've been great all season, but, you know.
J-Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Herd Lie News.
You know, I've been bringing Greg Hosell on Thursdays forever.
I mean, back of the old place here.
Today he did something he'd never done.
He wanted to get so exact on Caleb Williams' criticism that he got his glasses out because he writes notes.
Greg sends me notes all the time.
He writes notes on players.
This is what he does.
He watches his film all day.
And he plays no favorites, pulls no punches.
Here was his earlier breakdown on the struggles of Caleb Williams.
In two years at USC, he got sacked over 80 times.
and there were a lot of people that were concerned
that that was not just an O-line issue with USC
that that was a Caleb Williams issue
and right now it's coming to fruition a bit in the league
so this was not a Shane Waldron problem at all
right now everything is happening too fast for Williams
he's not been able to slow down the game mentally
so he gets stuck in the pocket waiting
and you can't do that
at this point he too often lacks an effective internal pocket clock
which also forces him to stay in the pocket too long holding the ball.
And the last point is he's a slow recognizer and processor.
He's not making the needed connection between route concepts and coverage.
So all this leads to an increased number of sacks.
Yeah, I think that was Zach Wilson's issue.
He did not recognize defenses.
I think that was Justin Fields issue.
I think it's hard.
Some guys, they see it.
I mean, Mahomes, I'm not.
never seen anybody as fast as Mahomes.
See it, let it rip accurate.
He just, he sees stuff before, he sees it as it's developing.
He's throwing the places.
By the way, Matt Stafford against Miami had a couple throws.
He's throwing the ball.
The receiver isn't even into the break yet.
So he's seeing stuff before the receivers into the break.
Sam Darnold struggled with the jets.
I think he still struggles, recognizing the concepts.
I remember when Sam Darnold was in San Francisco.
he told a friend of mine that he said he thought Brock Purdy
recognized cognitively coverages faster than any quarterback
he'd ever seen or played with. So part of Brock Purdy's
strength, he sees it really fast. He identifies it really fast.
Donald struggled with it. Zach Wilson struggled with it. Mahomes is unbelievable
at it. Everybody's different.
Live in LA, it's the herd.
One more herd? The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week

What would you eat if you had to start over?
Real simple, poor man's, poor woman's food.
Black beans, chicken, rice, plantains.
Yeah.
That's poor people's food, man.
But being Nigerian, that's, come on, a go-to.
On the podcast eating while broke,
I sit down with celebrities,
entrepreneurs, and creators
as they revisit the meals
they once relied on and the moments that shaped their journey.
Named Best Food Podcasts at the 2006 IHeart Podcast Awards.
This show is all about real conversations on money, growth, and what it really takes to make it.
It was times where me and Lexa definitely get into it because we're not making any money.
Like, I need to start making money.
Like, why are we doing this?
But I don't know.
I think we just always knew that we had something really good.
And eventually people were going to catch on.
And so we just thugged it out.
The full season is available to binge.
Right now.

Hey, I'm Diana Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover,
and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash
and hormonal crying jag at a time.
You ladies know what I mean.
I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do.
So let's talk about it.
Join me on my new podcast.
How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva,
where I call on my GenX squads from Ohio to Hollywood
as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS.
All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like, what the hell is that?
I was married when I had her,
so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Wait, what sex?
Dating at 45.
How can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy?
That one's kind of hard.
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter,
and dive into it unfiltered and unbothered and ask,
How Hard Can It Be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.

If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta,
you already know there's a lot to break down.
Orsha accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man.
They holding Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew.
Pinky has financial issues.
I like the bougie style of Housewives show.
I think it looks like it's going to be interesting.
On the podcast, Reality with the King, I, Carlos King,
recap the biggest moments from your favorite reality shows,
including the Real Housewives franchise,
the drama, the alliances, and the team everybody's talking about.
As an executive producer in reality television,
I'm not just watching it.
I understand the game.
As somebody who creates shows, I'll even say this.
At the end of the day, when people are at home, they want entertainment.
To hear this and more, listen to Reality with the King on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Dan Wojke covers the Lakers for the L.A. Times and LeBron put on a clinic last night.
He is joining us now live.
So let's start with J.J. Reddick.
It seemed pretty obvious in the first game or two that he was.
was identifying Anthony Davis
is the best player, a lot of usage.
Is anything,
if I said to you, give me two things
you've noticed with J.J. Reddick you didn't
see with Darvin Ham. What's his identity
as a coach right now, Dan?
I mean, I think he's been able to get
really good buy-in from his players when
it comes to executing the offensive schemes that
they want and getting them away from
sort of the hero ball,
ISO ball stuff that, by the way,
LeBron and Anthony Davis are both excellent at.
The way they're playing right now
is more connected offensively.
More guys are eating, as they say.
And I think, like, the biggest thing, Colin,
obviously is that they get easy baskets.
They create, you know, six to eight points a game
on just sort of like layups that they draw up
and stuff like that.
And I think that's been the biggest change that I've seen.
You know, and beyond that, I just think, like, you know,
like with any new boss, right, you have a little bit of a built-in head start
when you get a job and the fact that they've had success, particularly on the offensive side of the ball so far this season,
I think it's only lengthened kind of the leash that JJ Redick has as a first time head coach.
What is it over the last two to two and a half years?
Anthony Davis had a reputation and it was earned.
He, you know, there were dad bodd doesn't really love training.
I covered a player like that, Rashid Wallace, who just didn't, he was allergic to the weight room.
He didn't like it.
great player, great guy.
Yeah.
Last couple years, this dude is amazing.
I thought he was the best defensive player in the league last year,
regardless of not winning the...
What is it, though?
Like, he's just more durable.
Has his game shifted?
You know, I think him and I have talked about this.
I mean, he would tell you that some of the stuff that's happened,
you know, since he's been in L.A.,
that kind of earned him like the street-clothes nickname,
was just bad luck, right?
Like, you step on Rudy Gober's foot.
Whose fault is that?
That's not about being late.
I think he's owned the fact that coming out of the bubble,
he wasn't in good shape because he wasn't.
You know, I think that the short layoff really affected him.
And, you know, he didn't get off to a great start
and had a couple injuries that year.
But, like, since then the stuff that's kept out of action
has mostly been pretty freakish stuff, you know.
I mean, he played last night.
You saw, like, his eye was still pretty swollen.
You can see the bloodshot around, like, the center of the eye
from where he got poked by
Jacob Pertil on Sunday.
But yeah, no, he's been out there
and he's been really empowered
in this offense. You know, I think, Colin,
when people talk about spacing and shooting,
obviously you want to create three-pointers
and you want to get shots for your shooters,
but what you're also trying to do is you're just trying
to unclog the middle, too,
for the players that play around the rim.
And that's where Anthony Davis feasts.
And I think, you know, as you see there,
as he hits the three, he's been more confident
on the perimeter to it.
And this is the best offensive version I think I've seen of him
since he's been in a Laker uniform and he's been the guy.
Okay, I heard his story yesterday.
Bronny's not going to travel G-League.
And my first take was he didn't want to fly commercial.
That was my first take.
I also, I don't think this is.
Who does, Colin, to be totally clear.
When it's available, when it's not available, I just thought,
I've tried the same with my bosses.
They push back a little harder against me.
I get it.
I don't think there's, I don't think Bronny's an NBA player.
He's a 6-1 off-guard.
He's not a true point.
I don't think it exists.
And in the G-League, if you're not average in 18 points in the G-League,
you're probably not an NBA player.
How is this, I mean, is JJ Reddick going to be forced to play him?
I mean, what's real and what's not with the Bronny story?
So I think, okay, so a couple things I think are happening here
that make this all sort of complicated and have the Lakers proceeding
in the way that they're proceeding.
I think one, like, I think you're right.
Like, he has a tremendous amount of work and growth in front of him
to get to usable NBA player on a night-to-night base.
He's a 6-1-2 guard.
Athletically, though, and physically, like, he's there.
He does possess those traits.
It's harnessing him and using them.
The ball handling and the playmaking is a real problem.
I went to his first G-League game.
Yeah.
You know, in the first half, played pretty well.
Second half, turnovers were up.
fatigue was up, didn't shoot it well, struggled in the second half.
Didn't look though like on the court like he didn't belong by any stretch.
Like he looked like he should be out there and getting as many G-League reps as possible.
So that is one pathway to development.
And I think, you know, when you hear that they're going to willingly choose to not let him play in some of these games,
you know, you have to ask yourself, it's a logical question.
Like, are the Lakers doing right by Bronte James and by Brony James' development?
Yeah.
I do think it is worth noting that there is some of this stuff that is even regardless of Roddy James,
it's just holistic about how they operate with the G-League.
Like, they do think it is valuable organizationally for a player's development to not just spend all their time in the G-League,
to be around on trips and to do things like go to your hometown,
to be around for things like the in-season tournament and different stuff like that.
They do find value in that, particularly for rookie players, and they've done so in the past.
I just think, though, when you watch him, you just see a player that needs more, like, if you want to believe in him, you know, and there's a lot of reasons to want to believe in him. He's a tremendous kid, for one, right? Like, he's about the right stuff. He's a great worker, doesn't treat people poorly, all of these things that you would want. High character. If you want to believe in him, you know that he needs to be on the court. And that's the rub on this, and that's the disconnect.
But I will say, Colin, look, if this makes LeBron James happier,
if it makes him more comfortable, if it helps energize him through an 82 game season,
that quite frankly, you know, as he turns 40 years in December, it's a long year,
there's probably value to the Lakers to have that happen too.
So, you know, they're going to take a little bit of a PR hit in the short term, I think, on this.
But, you know, he's on the roster.
They like having him around.
Players believe in him.
The organization likes him.
and you know if there's other benefits obviously that exist by creating you know occasional cool moments with you know him and lebron like so be it
finally any i mean it's early we're in november but a you you sniff around the league is there a
a trade in the offing you know there's the carl anthony towns is the first move to get yonis i had said before
the season um i've watched milwaukee get really old really fast now that middleton's you know chronically hurt they can't defend the wing
you're not beating Boston.
You're not going to beat New York, Boston, and OKCs,
and if you can't defend the perimeter,
Lakers, by the way, warriors now are playing very good ball
because they have so much depth and they're twitchy and they move.
You've got to defend the wing.
The honest stuff, you buy it.
You can talk yourself into him getting moved
if this thing gets ugly.
Sure, you know, I mean, I think, like,
you can talk yourself into that, Colin,
with virtually any player, right?
Like, I do think that, you know, Janus is the type of player you build around, right?
Not the type of player you send out to rebuild.
If you can avoid it, right?
And, you know, when we tell the story of the Milwaukee Bucks, I mean, like, you watch that scene now,
and you're just like, you know who they could use is they could really use a Drew Holiday type.
Who they at?
Who they won a championship with.
And obviously, they wanted to get more offense in the half court, and they traded for Dame Lillard.
And, you know, Chris Middleton gets hurt.
and they get old real quick, right?
But the good news is that the Eastern Conference, though, Colin,
is like they're a good week away from being like totally right back in this.
Yeah.
Like that's really all it's going to take in the East right now to like start building.
And, you know, if they do get Milton back,
but their pathways for getting better are really tricky.
You know, I think when it comes to trades at this time of the season,
like, you know, seeds are being planted.
You know, teams are trying to still figure out
who they are or what they can become.
And when buyers and sellers then become a little clearer, it's easier to know.
Right now, I have costs are really inflated.
You know, there are teams like the Lakers that are calling around on big men, right?
But it's a real seller's market.
There aren't that many.
You know, and there's a bunch of teams that are looking forward.
So, you know, there isn't a ton of movement on this right now because the prices are high
for, you know, relatively low returns.
If Yannis does hit the market, he's,
one of those like you do you know
you move hell and I water to get that guy
obviously he's
had an MVP calendar season
so far 59 points last night
despite the fact that this team is really
struggling that's the biggest to me if I was
going to be nervous about the bucks is like
this guy is doing everything
and they're not winning yeah
Dan Wojke
LA Times good seeing you my man
yeah it's good seeing you too Colin
let's uh let's do this again soon
all right so j Mac
I forget, you're a Sixer fan.
You're a Nick fan.
You're a Nick fan.
Give me your five favorite teams.
In all sports?
All sports.
Not the one you own.
We'll go Jets one.
Jets one.
I guess I'll go Knicks two.
Lakers three.
Yankees Dodgers, four or five.
Now remember, I'm a warrior's guy because of Curry,
but the second he bails on Golden State, I'm out.
Same way I felt about the Patriots.
I was a Brady guy.
He left.
I didn't care.
I'm looking forward to talking to Tom,
chopping up some Jets Patriots talk.
Can't wait for that.
Yeah.
I'm sure he's excited as well.
I don't think he worries much.
I will say there are teams in this league
that don't have a winning record,
but I like where they're going.
New England's one of them.
I think they found their quarterback.
I think they're getting better every week.
It's like, oh, that's a team.
Wait, wait, you just said New England found their quarterback.
Please rank for me right now, the rookie quarterbacks.
Howell you...
Jaden, W.
Bo Nix 2.
Caleb had a really good three game stretch three,
Drake May 4,
but Drake May came into this, I thought,
with needing the most work.
His feet were all messed up
and his mechanics weren't perfect.
I think McCarthy is going to be really good.
Is it interesting that the two top guys
both have really sharp offensive mind in Kingsbury and...
No.
It was...
And Peyton?
No.
That's why I think when you're a defensive coach,
you got to get the O.C. right.
You got to get that right.
And a lot of these defensive coordinator guys that become head coaches,
you know, like Dimeco Ryan's works.
It's got the O.C. right.
Buffalo works.
Slowick is under some fire from Texans fans right now.
They have not liked what they've seen.
But a lot of that is no Nico Collins.
Stefan Diggs is out for the season.
Tank Dell has fully recovered from whatever injuries he's had.
Interesting, Colin.
Week 11. Pick the upset. We do it every week. Pick the upset.
I'll let you go first. You're on the T-box.
That is a tough one.
Nothing, huh? Cincinnati at the Chargers. Be very...
That's a one-point spread. Get out of here.
I think Cincinnati is a tough match-up.
That's an upset. Patriots?
One for the ages.
Just kidding. The Rams are taking them behind the woodshed.
Oh, it's almost you gave a little hint on where you're betting.
I love those Thursday hints.
