Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer,
Starting point is 00:00:18 Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
Starting point is 00:00:39 It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the Look Back at it podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:06 For 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 was big to me. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. 84 was a wild year.
Starting point is 00:01:23 It was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show. This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday from 12 to 3 Eastern, 9 to noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and FS1. Find your local station for the herd at Fox Sports Radio.com or stream us live every day on the iHeart radio app by searching
Starting point is 00:02:24 Heard. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Here we go. We're live. It's hour three. It's a Friday. You got Terry Bradshaw this hour. I just found out he's got new burgers. Bradshaw burgers. It's supposed to be great. Frozen burgers don't even have to thaw them out. Go right on the grill.
Starting point is 00:02:50 I'm going to talk about that. I love burgers. I'm going to be hungry, calendar. I'm going to have one tonight. We're in L.A. It's the herd, wherever you may be. you may be listening, IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, FS1, Jason McIntyre. Now, it's a rough early season for both of us. Live in L.A., the Rams got whacked, and your jets are in the tank already.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Hey, stop it. It's also 95 degrees out here for swirl problems. Goodness, I'm sweating in the studio, Colin. Now, that's going to break tomorrow. So we're supposed to have some... Rain? Oh, no, no, like a cyclone or something. Rain in Los Angeles.
Starting point is 00:03:22 I haven't seen that this year. Oh, no, I know. It's coming up. It's coming north from down in Mexico. We got a big storm. I watched the local weather last night. You're watching the weather chance.
Starting point is 00:03:31 So you're the one, huh? No, I love the weather change. Wow. That's going to impact my volleyball game with some dad this weekend. Oh, it's done. Jeez. Bummer.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Saturday, might as well take your surfboard and swim because you'll not be able to play in the sand. All right. All right. A couple of minutes. Terry Bradshaw will join us in studio in five minutes. Jay Mack later with tomorrow headline today.
Starting point is 00:03:50 So going into the opener last night, many people, me, believe that the Buffalo is the best team in the league to go in the Super Bowl. So a lot of what we saw in the bill's blowout win over the Rams was, it was very predictable. And let's be honest about Buffalo. 11 blowout wins last year. 11 wins last year.
Starting point is 00:04:09 All their wins were blowout wins. This is what they do. I didn't think they do it last night, but this is what they do. They are an avalanche of talent, the deepest defensive front in the league, great linebackers, great safety, seven, eight different defensive linemen, add Vaughn Miller to that? Yikes. 11 blowout wins. Also, we saw Matt Stafford be streaky. This happens all the time.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Last year, he got blown out at home by Arizona. He got blown out last year at home by Tennessee. He got blown out last night at home again by Buffalo. Matt Stafford is streaky. So a lot of this stuff we've seen before. But here's what's always more interesting. The stuff you can't explain. Cam Acres, no yards, three carries.
Starting point is 00:04:57 I know he was banged up in camp and he was hurt last year, but he did play in the playoffs where he had two really ugly, punitive, nearly fatal fumbles. Is he in the doghouse? He was invisible. That is hard to explain. Alan Robinson, 30 million guaranteed, number two wide receiver, targeted twice. Again, not even targeted.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Barely saw him on the field, rarely in motion. Hard to explain. Some of you may wonder this morning, what about Matt Stafford's arm? Now, I heard it wasn't that big of a deal, but all the throws were underneath. It was a very safe, conservative game plan, heavy on short passes. Is it Matt Stafford's arm? I don't think it is. What I think it is is Sean McVeigh is a really smart offensive coach.
Starting point is 00:05:49 He gets offense. He knows his left tackle, Andrew Whitworth, his replacement is capable, and that's all. and would be going up against the Hall of Famer and Von Miller. Their left guard, their right guard are really, really average. They have a nice center and a really good right tackle. But Andrew Wetworth out, Sean McVey knowing OBJ is not healthy, so they don't have any juice down the field. 2-2-at-well, maybe one of less needs only busts so far in the last three or four years of drafting.
Starting point is 00:06:21 They got no juice down the field, so they relied on underneath stuff and the offensive line, even with that, could not predict. There's a lot of things here you can solve if you're the Rams. All right. Cam Acres is going to get more than three carries. And maybe he wasn't healthy. Alan Robinson, my guess is, Stafford missed some camp.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Robinson's a new guy. They haven't gelled yet. My guess is two targets is one of his lowest outputs of the season. And Stafford, again, will have really good days. He had four or five games last year. He was awful. He led the NFL in picks last year. His career has been streaky.
Starting point is 00:07:03 Last night, he was bad, especially late. But the one thing I don't think you can correct, and it's kind of one of those you got to deal with an issues. Their offensive line, without Andrew Whitworth, it's just not going to be as good. The bill's got seven sacks. None from a blitz. And the Rams weren't looking. deep downfield last night. OBJ is not healthy.
Starting point is 00:07:28 They don't have deep juice, deep energy, deep receiver on the roster. Cooper Cup occasionally goes deep, but most of his stuff is 16 yards and in. Seven sacks without blitzes on a night, a conservative game plan. So that's a concern, and I'm not sure it's correctable. The teams with good left tackles aren't going to give them to you halfway through the season. So again, some of this stuff, Acres, streakiness, Stafford, Alan Robinson, I don't worry much about it. It's the NFL.
Starting point is 00:07:58 It's not college football. It's not Alabama. Everybody can punch you right in the mouth. But that old line, the domination physically Buffalo put on the Rams, Sean Mavey talked afterwards. It was a very humbling night, but one that, you know, hey, you got to be able to look yourself in the mirror. Say, I got to be better within the framework of my role. That's exactly what I'm going to do.
Starting point is 00:08:18 That's what I know our coaches are going to do. That's what our players are going to do. We weren't ready to go. I take a lot of, you know, pride in that. and that's on me. I got to do better. There was a lot of decisions that I made that I felt like didn't put our players
Starting point is 00:08:29 in good enough spots. This was a humbling experience, but we're going to stay connected. I like that guy. Speaking of humble. I do too. And connected. I bring on the Hall of Fame.
Starting point is 00:08:39 I'm not connected, but I am humble. You were at that thing last night. I did go to the game. I, my agent at the last minute, I said to him, where are you going?
Starting point is 00:08:49 He said, I'm going to the ball game tonight. I went, well, I want to go. How come I can't go? And you did. And so, Mr. Cronkey, the owner of the Rams got me a ticket and I got in. And you sat next to who? I sat next to Andrew.
Starting point is 00:09:03 So I thought the one thing that jumped out to me, Terry, really quickly, is, you know, there's five or six positions in football, quarterback one, that are just more important. Right. Left tackle in my lifetime. Yeah. Because it's a passing league. Right. I thought they missed Whitworth from the first quarter on.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Yeah. You know, they missed his talent. A lot of teams didn't game on his side when he put. because he's too smart and he's so strong and long-armed. Now they can do whatever they want to over their own. I don't know what the kid's name is, but he struggled. They were not good. They couldn't go deep.
Starting point is 00:09:35 They couldn't. The quarterback had no time to throw the football at all. They couldn't go deep. He had one receiver. The other guys disappeared and they couldn't run it. They couldn't do anything. So you go, was it Rams or Buffalo? Well, it was Buffalo.
Starting point is 00:09:52 And I'm not surprised. I'm disappointed for. Stan Cronky, the owner, because unveiling of the flag, you know, the world title with all the fans there was cool. And it'd been nice to have a victory at home. They will come around. This is a humbling, embarrassing loss for a defending world champion. You know, this is not unusual, by the way.
Starting point is 00:10:16 You know, it's interesting. So I think we forget this because we tend to remember the end of football seasons. Right. What, five months ago? hasn't been that long. But last year, Rams at home. Right. Blown out by Arizona.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Yep. Blown out by Tennessee. I like Matt Stafford. Yep. But he's streaky. And it's one of the things, he's a little like Joe Burrow, and that my favorite quality of Stafford is also his greatest liability. He's got a real short memory.
Starting point is 00:10:43 You did. Yeah. You better have one. But not everybody does. No. A lot of guys throw picks. I've always said with Aaron Rogers, I can see if he's thrown an interception. He ratchets it down.
Starting point is 00:10:53 He can get safe. He didn't throw many. Not many. But I think Stafford is one of those guys. When you have a great arm, Alan Stafford, you know, Bradshaw, Namath, Elway, you want to use it. And Stafford sometimes lets her rip. I mean, go back to your career. There are throws you made that drove the late Chuck Null crazy.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Drove me crazy. But it was your bread and butter. That was my DNA. My DNA, I was too impatient. I didn't like short passes. They were boring. We didn't throw that often, so therefore I wanted to make the most out of it. And I was very fortunate.
Starting point is 00:11:32 I got smart enough as we moved on. As I moved on in my career, I realized I got a great defense. I can be a little more aggressive probably than most quarterbacks because I've got a great defense. Not fair to them, but I still have a great defense. The Rams have a great defense. Miller's gone. that's okay that's okay
Starting point is 00:11:54 they will wake up and they will play I told you all ago what happens so often is that you still have the hangover you're still being loved and admired not today right now they're on your case
Starting point is 00:12:09 what's wrong with Matthew what's wrong with the line how can they get the ball why can't we run it why couldn't we stack that big quarterback for Buffalo all these questions are popping up now and now it's reality
Starting point is 00:12:21 hey, everybody will give you your best shot. You're defending world champions. They're going to give you your best shot. And they will take it on the chin, and then they're going to wake up and go, okay, enough of this. Then they'll start playing. So I've got to ask you, Terry Bradshaw, the Hall of Famer four-time Super Bowl champ. Let's go to Pittsburgh, a franchise you know well. So twice in the history of the Steelers, Terry and Ben, they got the Hall of Fame level quarterback, and they win.
Starting point is 00:12:48 When the Pittsburgh Steelers get it right. In between there, they've had talent. Tommy Maddox had some talent. Bobby had some talent. Cordell for a while had some talent. Tribisky's got some talent. So they chose, my takeaway was, listen, if Kenny Pickett had started for a year in college,
Starting point is 00:13:05 I'd let him watch. Terry, he started for four. Four. He played 50-something games. He's in that stadium. Yes. And they watched him practice because he practices on the same field. So to me, I don't want to hear the comfort. for an excuse. I think you got to rip the band-aid off. Okay, got it. I know what you're going.
Starting point is 00:13:25 Listen, I've thought about this before I came out here. Yesterday, flying out. I understand what Mike's doing. They signed Trubisky to be their starter. Right. Now, they may have wanted pick if they weren't, there's no guarantees they're going to get him. Everybody was saying they were going to draft him, right? And it was just like the good Lord looked down on him, said, I'm saving him. I'm saving him for you, and they got him. I think it's, I think what Mike did is he didn't do anything to lose the job, but I would remind everyone, it's preseason. There's no, there's not that much going on in preseason, but he played well.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Nobody plays starters in preseason. No, no. So he played well. So he didn't lose the job. And I think Mike is honoring their commitment to bring him in, knowing that the real starter is the kid. I will say this. I would have started Pickett because I've already seen the other guys.
Starting point is 00:14:20 Right, right. I know they can play well one week or two weeks and then we're going to see the other side. I would have started the kid and I wouldn't have had to make any excuses for it. He's exciting. The players love him. The fans love him. And he's 24, what, four? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:39 He's 24 years old, started 54 games in college. He is so well. He's so ready. to play that I would have started him. But I understand, as I told you, why they didn't. No, I think the commitment, Jason and I talked about this, is that it was a little like Andy Dalton, somebody said, listen, you get the first start. Right.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Or the first couple. Got it. And you got to honor that stuff. It's a small league. If you promise guy stuff, you got an agent to deal with, Trubisky, the locker room. So, and here we look at, you know, listen, Trubisky is what he is. His ball dies. He's kind of athletic.
Starting point is 00:15:15 He's a little smaller than I'd like, and that's a good division. So I want to go to this. So I'm a fan of Russell Wilson. He's not for everybody. A little small runs around. But he does. I'm a Seattle kid, so he made my team good. I got it.
Starting point is 00:15:30 So in college, though, he starts for North Carolina State for three years. I know. Then he goes to Wisconsin. And they had to, so the coach came in and said, despite getting us to bowl games, I'm replacing you. Yeah. So this short quarterback who's been doubted, his whole life has to transfer.
Starting point is 00:15:46 Right. He's great at Wisconsin. Goes to the NFL. Nobody drafts him. Third round. So his DNA is a little bit like, I've been replaced and I've been doubted my whole life. Right.
Starting point is 00:15:56 So he goes to Seattle. It's all about Marshawn Lynch and the defense and Pete Carroll. Never gets that love. What's wrong? What's wrong with that? There's nothing wrong with that. Yeah. Then we find out four years ago,
Starting point is 00:16:09 he found out Seattle wanted to trade him. And I'm like, timeout. If you're going to trade him. him, trade him. He cannot hear that. Terry, that would be in my head. For four years, Russell Wilson's known, my guys don't like me. If you'd have known, Noel, in your prime.
Starting point is 00:16:27 Wanted to trade me? Wouldn't it mess with your head? Well, a lot of things messed with my head. I didn't need to hear that. I wanted to be traded, but, yeah, listen, I got worse. I got benched and replaced. What year? What was it?
Starting point is 00:16:41 Third year, Joe Gillum. Joe Gillum, I lost my job to Joe Gillum. Did it mess with your head? Oh, yeah. I went in and asked to be traded. And get this. And listen, I love Chuck Knoll. I give him all the credit in the world for what we had the success we had in Pittsburgh.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Brilliant coach. Not my kind of guy, but a brilliant coach. And I went in and said, Chuck, you got Joe, he's playing great. I really think it's time for me to go somewhere else. Would you trade me somewhere else? I know Kansas City wants me and maybe even send me home to New Orleans and his exact words were
Starting point is 00:17:19 you're going to be great I'm not trading you you're going to be great and that was a strange strange thing that's like you to me but anyway I said okay I'm going to be great that's what Mr. Rooney used to tell me you're going to be great you're going to be great
Starting point is 00:17:33 but we're benching you yeah but we're benching you and you're not starting and I'm mad at it but you're going to be great so I had to deal with that Russell Russell is you have to, you said it, you have to get extremely defensive in your brain.
Starting point is 00:17:53 You have to get to a point to where you're almost an angry, nasty person. That's what I didn't, I got, I developed a nastiness and an attitude. I didn't show it. I just kept it inside. Nobody's going to touch me. Nobody's going to hurt me again. And I think Russell did a great job up there. and I'm sorry that he left Seattle.
Starting point is 00:18:14 I hate it that he left there. I like him. I like him a lot. And they're saying, well, he wants to reestablish himself. Reestablish what? He's on a bad football team. If you don't have the players around a quarterback, Terry Bradshaw is no good without Frank O'Harrison and Rocky Blyer and Lynn Swan,
Starting point is 00:18:33 stalwart, that great defense, Webster, Center, Mullins, all these guys. None of us are any good, okay? None of us. I don't care what Tom Brady's doing in Tampa Bay. He couldn't play anywhere else. They have to protect him, surrounding him with talent, and the brilliance comes through. Russell, everything around him went down.
Starting point is 00:18:55 They had no running game. Their defense is no good. The whole line was bad. And then they took the ball out of his hand after the first seven games last year. When we were all screaming, he's going to be the MVP, and then all of a sudden he's not throwing the football anymore.
Starting point is 00:19:07 It was crazy. Now they got rid of him. So I think he's handled it well. I like him. I love watching him play. In my opinion, the kid at Herbert and San Diego and Russ are two of the best long ball throws I've ever seen. Yeah. Beautiful.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Beautiful. Yes. Terry Bradshaw joining us. So this is, I was saying sometimes a football game can be ugly but fascinating. Right. I think the Niners Bears can be ugly, but fascinating. So Trey Lance has got Jimmy Garoppolo hovering over him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Hasn't played a lot of football. Justin Herbert has a bad old line and one receiver, but I think we're going to watch these young guys right in front of our eyes growing and trying to prove to the world I can play. So it's going to be ugly but fascinating football. But at least Justin Fields knows it's his job. Right. You got Garoppolo in the room.
Starting point is 00:20:03 And the other day a story came out, whether it's true or not, some reporters said, you know, Tray Lance was annoyed when they signed Garoppolo. What do you make it out? Well, that's not what we heard is it? What we heard was how great they are, what great teammates they are. And that would be what I hope is true. I hope it's not an animosity. I dislike for one another.
Starting point is 00:20:28 That's going to be ugly. I would not want to know if I'm Trey Lance that Garoppolo's on the sideline. But here's the key. the coach has reaffirmed him you're my man i gave up three number ones for you and you're going to play don't worry about the bench i'm not taking you out of the games gropolo's not coming in no matter how bad you're playing unless you get hurt and i know that's what they're doing there i feel bad here's who i feel bad for gropolo you know why i like him yeah i like him i have always liked him I don't know why.
Starting point is 00:21:09 I guess I know him a little bit, and I just like him. I like the way he releases the ball. He got him to a Super Bowl. They go out and give up all those draft picks for Trey Lance. I've watched Trey Lance, and I went, ooh, what kind of motion is that? No, it's not pretty. No, I don't know what it is. But they love him.
Starting point is 00:21:30 Yeah. It's all that matters. It doesn't matter. I don't care about his release. So I think the coaching staff there is doing a phenomenal job. of taking all that pressure off of him and saying, this is your team. Don't worry about Jimmy.
Starting point is 00:21:44 He's only going to play if you get hurt. And I'm sure that's what's going on. And taking all that off. The only thing will happen now, play poorly. The press will jump on you. The fans will jump on you. So the coach will have to defend you. He's going to struggle.
Starting point is 00:21:58 But in this day and age of football, Colin, you know this. It's all about athletic quarterbacks that can throw. Well, you've got to be able to move. Got to move. The league is basically a reward. You're rewarding you to move. Look at that kid at Buffalo. That big sucker.
Starting point is 00:22:11 I'm there last night, and I've kept turning to Andrew, and I'm going, gee, me, Christmas. That guy's big. Yeah. I mean, I didn't even go. I was on the field. He wasn't out there. I wanted to go meet him because he is huge.
Starting point is 00:22:23 Well, you know, Terry, the truth is you ran early. His story is a little yours. He grows up in a small town. Yeah. And choppy in college, didn't play with much. Yeah. Huge arm. Unbelievable athlete.
Starting point is 00:22:38 and all of a sudden you start hearing about six months before the draft, that's the guy everybody likes. Yeah, I wish he was a little more accurate. I wish this. I wish that. I said about you, didn't they? Hey, I talked to Troy Aikman. Troy Aikman said he's never seen anybody.
Starting point is 00:22:50 He went to his pro day, 80 yards. He said legitimately stand there and 80 yards. And I watched him warm up last night, 55, 60 yards. He's not even trying. Yeah. And I'm like, damn. Yeah, he's telling it. But Troy said he's never seen anything.
Starting point is 00:23:08 like it. So one of the games, big games of the weekend is Dallas hosting Tampa. Right. Well, Dallas like the Rams, the O-lines a bit of a regressing unit. Both tackles are gone. Okay. Tampa like the bills, the strength of the team, is that pass rush. Tommy in the pass rush, quarterback in the pass rush. And Dax never had a battle line. And I was talking about this earlier this week. You guys, all you you quarterbacks have a clock in your head and you kind of know you knew in Pittsburgh,
Starting point is 00:23:43 I got three and a half. And then you lose a right tackle and you got three one. And then you lose a gun. I can see that right tackle. So go back, go back to your worst O line because most of it was great. But go back to a struggling online.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Mine was always the same. So you had Webster, you never had. Webster, Cole, Brown, Mullins, Sam Davis. So you never had a bad O line. Webster. No, same one, 14 years.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Wow. Same guys. I mean, same guys. Now, left tackle 255, right tackle 282, right guard, 242, left guard, 250 maybe. 70% the weight they are today. Exactly. You go out there today, I'm sitting next to Andrew, he's 6-7, 6-68. You know, flat-bellied, you go, gee many, Christmas.
Starting point is 00:24:31 Different. I wonder, though, Dax never, ever dealt. with this. You get about two, you got both tackles, a left guard. That's a whole different ballgame for him. Well, it changes. You'll try to run your offense. You have to. And then if you don't have time to run
Starting point is 00:24:49 your offense, there'll be plan B. Plan B is quick out, quick end, quick slants, wide flare check, one, two, three. The old West ghost stuff, one, two, three. Wide flares, quick slant, check down hooks, quick screens, screens. They can't run the ball,
Starting point is 00:25:05 anymore. They couldn't run it. You look at the last, well, every year that Ezekiel Elliott's played, it's gone down, down. I think I'm not even 60 yards
Starting point is 00:25:13 last year. He's their second best running back now. I thought last year at the end of the year, the Pollard kid was better. He had more juice. If Pollard started the game, which everybody is saying,
Starting point is 00:25:24 he wouldn't have been as good. Yeah. The combination of inside tackle and all the other stuff with Pollard made that a special thing. I don't believe, we always are talking about Dallas. You forget the,
Starting point is 00:25:35 feeling why oh how are you doing i think when did he sneak in he we just put him on the show jason mackinty oh yeah very promising young prospect are you good i'm a huge steelers fan too oh well good i yeah i'm a jets fan terry oh okay sorry oh god bless you but where was i we always talk about dallas you know what i've been watching television yeah you're bad about it yeah everybody's bad about dallas dallas i know and as a fan and you go what is it about dallas about dallas I'm moving to Buffalo. Buffalo is my new team. Oh.
Starting point is 00:26:07 I decided last night at half time. How long are you going to stay there? November? No, decided last night third quarter. Buffalo's the new team. They're fun to watch. But the Dallas Cowboys are a fascinating bunch. They're already firing McCarthy.
Starting point is 00:26:21 Yeah, I don't think he'll make it through, do you? Jerry's not a guy that fires coaches. He doesn't. And I don't think he'll, I'm not worried about, McCarthy's a good dude. You ever met him? No. You'd love him. He seems like a nice guy.
Starting point is 00:26:33 He's a great guy. And he's a smart guy. Look, he won a Super Bowl. He's a pretty qualified coach. But they don't like the lot of the fans in the media in Dallas. They've already made their mind out. Oh, they just have all the answers, don't they? Yeah, it's amazing how they do.
Starting point is 00:26:48 For a team that's not won anything, they seem to have all the answers. But I don't think there's a problem with McCarthy. Everybody else sees that Sean Payton's going there. Sean's with us now for at least a year, right? One year. At least one year. Yeah, then he's going to go coach. Yeah, I think you're right.
Starting point is 00:27:05 smart but Dallas I don't see that well he's you know if I it's funny you said that um we talked about this about six months ago I said if you were Sean Payton and he'll be listen we love Sean Payton but he's got too much room left right he's too young he's too young he's going a million miles an hour he's one of the great play designers of my lifetime yeah exactly Walsh Reed Sean and you sit and look around you know it's really funny Terry is what I in the 70s 80s 90s what I would have looked for is one thing What I'm looking for is a non-crazy owner and a quarterback. I'll figure the rest out.
Starting point is 00:27:41 But it used to be, if you gave me a good running game and, you know, decent quarterback, I win a division. I don't know if you can anymore. No, I don't know if you can. The game has gone back to the 60s. You know that. The NFL. We now are in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:27:59 The NFL today is the old AFL. Throw it 40 times a game. And I think it's good. Good for television, good for me. I love watching it. I played in the era where handoff, handoff, handoff. I much rather watch them throwing the football. So that's the area we are in.
Starting point is 00:28:16 Now you take West Coast offense, the triangle offense, flanker tied in, full back, wide flares, all that stuff. You take that offense and you add a little wrinkle here and there with a guy like Sean Peyton. And then you get a quarterback who is, number one, a quarterback has to be poised. I don't care how big you are. You've got to be poised. And then, all right, now we've got the poised.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Now give me the smarts. Give me a guy that can see things fast. That's the – Give me something. He's got to see things fast. And then the accuracy comes in. I look at Drew Breeze, and I'm just like, man. Terry?
Starting point is 00:28:50 Boom, boom, boom. Terry. Beautiful. Herbert. Oh, same thing. Okay. If this coach, last year Herbert was the best quarterback not to make the playoffs. Yes, I agree.
Starting point is 00:29:01 Regardless of how good the division is. Regardless of what happened with the Raiders. doesn't matter. If Herbert doesn't make the playoffs this year. Yes. And I like Staley. I'm going to make a change. You're going to get rid of the hit. I can't have a top five quarterback not make the playoffs. They added playoff teams.
Starting point is 00:29:19 I'm 14 now. Yeah, I hadn't thought about that. Yeah, well, this thing never shuts up. You know what I, in getting ready for the first week of the season, I'm just sitting there. I actually studied Jacksonville a little. You believe that. Oh, I think they're going to be interesting.
Starting point is 00:29:34 Very. I did not know. You guys, I don't pay, when football, when the Super Bowl's over with, I check out. You got a ranch. Got two around. I got a lot to do. Got two ranches. But I didn't realize that that quarterback threw for 3,400 yards.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Had no idea. With a bad on line. With a bad offensive line. And not much to throw to. And then they said, well, he threw 22 interceptions. I threw 22, my rookie year. You know who broke my record? Who?
Starting point is 00:30:00 Peyton Manning. He threw 25. I'm so happy. Well, interceptions aren't, you got to throw the ball down the field. You got to put it out there. I don't want think or dunk guy. It's not easy. It's so fast and everything going everywhere.
Starting point is 00:30:13 Okay, so you have a bourbon. I don't drink bourbon, but you got a burger, and I love those. The burgers are awesome. They're called Bradshaw burgers. Thick and juicy. Bradshaw thick and juicy. Bradshaw, and it sucks in all the juices. We freeze it.
Starting point is 00:30:27 So I can take the frozen one right to the grill. Right to the grill. And you will never regret it. Okay. They are amazing. Where do I get them? You get them at a store. Well, I...
Starting point is 00:30:38 I'm in California. Go Terry Bradshaw brands, and you'll find out in the area what stores were. We're in 7,000 stores all over America. I didn't think you get them in a tire center. I'm in Walmart, Costco. Oh, you're at the big stores. No, I'm also at Publix in Florida.
Starting point is 00:30:55 We're never one of those. Yeah. So we're all over. Giant Eagle up on the East Coast in Pennsylvania. We're everywhere. Yeah. And I'm still. having work. When am I going to get rich?
Starting point is 00:31:07 When am I going to? Someone tell me. Well, you have a beautiful new ranch in Texas. I do. St. Joe. Hello to everybody in St. Joe. St. Joe is north of Dallas. Yes. I had to think a second. You live in the state. Go up to Denton, go through Denton from Dallas, 29, 31 miles to Gainesville, Texas, hit Highway 82 West.
Starting point is 00:31:30 Yeah, yeah. All right. West is 16 miles. you come into St. Joe. Yeah. And you'll be at the local Piggly Wiggly selling your burgers. No. I don't think I'm in Piggly Wiggly. But if we are and I don't know about it, I apologize.
Starting point is 00:31:47 It's great seeing you. Well, finally you got me back on. I beg you every year to let me come on. Beg, folks. I gave you 26 minutes today. Oh, bless your heart. I don't give Jimmy. Okay, hold on.
Starting point is 00:31:58 Would people rather hear me talk football or you? You know what? Oh, I heard that. Depends on what side the coin lands on. Well, that's true. Well, you're a smart man. I give Jimmy six, seven minutes. I push him off the same.
Starting point is 00:32:10 You. Johnson? I give 26. First of all, Jimmy don't want to be here. I want to be here. It's a difference. Hello, America. See you Sunday.
Starting point is 00:32:19 Jimmy, I'm kidding. You know it. All right. Sunday, the guys, Fox. You see our new studio. Have you seen that thing? You want to hear a true story. You want to hear a true story.
Starting point is 00:32:29 So, opposed to the ones where I make up. So I literally. So a month ago It's like Fort Knox around here So a month ago I walked Because I wanted to see the construction So I walk into the set
Starting point is 00:32:41 It's unbelievable It is Battlestar Galactica I take my phone out And like six producers Are like No it's like the CIA And they're like
Starting point is 00:32:51 You can't take pictures And I'm like I'm sending it to my Like my wife Wouldn't let me Revereed at this company I couldn't take a picture That's what they said I said, I work on the show next door.
Starting point is 00:33:04 I walked, hey, listen, I walked over there a while ago, and I got dizzy. It is like a whole other world, a 3D world that, it was really strange. It is absolutely mind-boggling what they have done over there. Just to go out on the football field now, and the people are clapping in the stands, and stuff is moving around. And when we talk about Green Bay, behind us comes the Green Bay field. I mean, this thing is ultra-modern. I mean, I can't wait for the viewers to see it Sunday.
Starting point is 00:33:38 They are going to be blown away. Seriously. Terry Bradge, let's hear from Terry. That's me. That's me. Yes, give it up. You brought it today. Oh, I did.
Starting point is 00:33:47 Every time I'm on here. You do bring it. Yes. Well, you bring it out of me. You know what? I deserve a little bit of credit on that. Oh, absolutely. It's not just you.
Starting point is 00:33:55 No, no, never is. I'm a big part of that. Hey, can I just say something real quick. I want to think this. Hold on. Hoka. Folks, this is Terry Bradshaw. If you, and this is Hoka, these are new shoes that I'm going to be wearing.
Starting point is 00:34:08 They don't have any laces. They have nothing. Look at that. These things, you don't, anyway, they just gave them to me. I put them on and wear them on the show. H.O.K.A. Check them out. Shoes. Hey, if I get something out of this, I'll share it with you.
Starting point is 00:34:23 Terry Bradshaw, ladies and gentlemen. All right, back in a second. Yeah, it's the herd. The herd that you forgot. Want more herd? The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week within the IHeart radio app. Search Herd to listen live or on demand whenever you'd like. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam Jek. And I'm Alex English.

I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack, so I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now, so.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Thank you for finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year. for black people. Really? Yeah. We're all excited after Terry Bradshaw. Colin, we'll start with the Chargers. Ended last year in Heartbreak, losing obviously to the Raiders in Week 18 and overtime.
Starting point is 00:38:30 Justin Herbert very excited for the rematch. Here's what he said. I know personally I've been thinking about this one for the past six or seven months, however long it's been. I know that everyone else has as well. For everyone to show up at OTAs, I thought that was a huge growth for our team. We believe in each other just like the front office believes in us. Colin, I'm going to have this in the headlines shortly. Chargers right as who you got in this one.
Starting point is 00:38:57 Chargers, I think it's going to be the most entertaining game of the one. weekend. Every time they play, Herbert goes nuts. Yes. I worry about the Raiders O line and this pass rush, so I like the Chargers in this one. The number's about right. This is going to be a wildly... There are so many great offensive players in this game. It'll be the best game of the weekend. Still no word on J.C. Jackson looks like he's probably no-go for the Chargers. All right. Next up, Colin. Carson Wentz, going up against his former head coach, Doug Peterson. Commanders, Jaguars, Terry Bradshaw, bullish on the Jaguars. You know, they spent five
Starting point is 00:39:30 years together in Philly and now Carson Wentz is looking forward to being opposite Peterson. It was a great coach, great guy, fun to be around, meant a lot over the years. Went through a lot of good and some of the bad, obviously all together, but it means a lot to me. I think this week will be fun to compete against him to see him and not just say him. There's other familiar faces on that side of the ball that I've worked with in the past, so it'll be fun to compete against them. Choppy camp for the commanders. A lot of distractions. Shoppy is a very good underrated word there.
Starting point is 00:40:03 I'm not bullish on them this year. Nope. Jags, I am. No Chase Young either for Washington. I don't know who they're starting running back is. Antonio Gibson playing with a special team. Ryan Carrigan retired. Carrigan is now like an assistant coach on a line somewhere.
Starting point is 00:40:16 It's looking bleak for Washington, Colin. J-Mac with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurdline News. Okay, one of my favorite segments, tomorrow's headlines today. This is a quick segment. Back in a second.

Starting point is 00:44:44 Jason McIntyre, he is ready to go. This is my favorite segment of the week, usually. Former newspaper guy, we call it tomorrow's headlines today. Are you ready to go? It's tough to follow Terry Bradshaw. He was magnificent. Tomorrow's headlines today, Mitch Trebisky. Yep. He makes his Steeler debut against the Super Bowl participant Bengals. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:08 All right, Colin. Listen, I don't love the Steelers this season, but on Sunday, the headline will be. Dream Come True. Steelers put Bengals to sleep. I'm going with the Steelers betting them, taking them on the money line. Think about this. It's not too much of a hot take to say, listen, Ben Rothensburg was so bad. ad last year, sack like 38 times immobile, that Trubisky adds a dimension to the defense.
Starting point is 00:45:32 If the first or second read is taken away, he's just going to tuck it and run, which is something they didn't have last year. And again, Mike Tomlin as an underdog in this division, 196 and 2 against the spread. He loves being an underdog. He does. And this is tough to explain, but the Super Bowl loser, Colin, this century, 4 and 18 against the spread in week one, for whatever reason. Maybe the Bengals and the Super Bowl losers are thinking about that loss for five or six months, and the opponent is just focused on the first week one opponent.
Starting point is 00:46:00 So I think the Steelers can pull something off here. Give me Pittsburgh in the upset. Tomorrow's headlines today. Carson Wenton, the commanders hosting Trevor Lawrence and the Jags. We've been on this. I think Bucky Brooks put us on to it and we talked about it for a little while. The headline.
Starting point is 00:46:16 We'll be cats out of the bag. Trevor is meaouveless. You like feeling that? Listen, the Doug Peterson aspect we've talked about. This guy knows Carson Wens badly. He also dislikes him a lot. The stories there were very ugly at the end in Philadelphia.
Starting point is 00:46:33 And again, this is a brand new Jaguars team, Colin. Look at the receivers. Two new guys starting on the outside. Zay Jones is one of them. They got a new tight end in Evan Ingram. Travis E.T.N. Lawrence's team. He's back. He missed all the last season. I think this is going to be a totally new look team. And remember
Starting point is 00:46:48 Carson Wentz, last year, final week of the season, faced the Jags, got sacks six times. He was bad in two games last year with a better offensive line in Indy. I think Wentz struggles. I like Doug Peterson and Trevor Lawrence to win this one. Tomorrow's headlines today, Belichick and the weaponless Patriots go to Miami. As a Jets fan, this one pains me. The headline will be to us soon to put Belichick on the hot seat. I like the dolphins to kind of smash the Patriots too. You know, Man, Jeannie said something tremendous. He's like, they left early this week to go to Miami to, like, beat the heat.
Starting point is 00:47:24 When has Belichick ever done anything like that? Seems out of character. I wonder if he's hearing or feeling that his team is not totally locked in. And it's risky to go back a rookie coach, McDaniel against Belichick. Kind of risky in his first game. But I look at the speed Miami has, Colin. And I just see maybe an early season, whoa, Miami's got something here on offense. They got a good running game, passing attack.
Starting point is 00:47:48 I think Miami kind of puts it on the page. Patriots, and I think that'll be your lead, Belichick, struggling on Monday morning. Tomorrow's headlines today, Jalen Hertz and the Eagles made the playoffs. They go to Motivationally Superior Dan Campbell, Mr. Knee-Caps. What's the headline? The headline from Motown will be Hard Knocks Life, Detroit Lion to themselves. I think the Pittsburgh, sorry, Philadelphia Eagles are my side here. Maybe the best bet of the week.
Starting point is 00:48:17 Everybody in the offseason loves the Lions, Colleen. we talking about? Restore the roar hashtag. I'm just telling you, up front, the lions look like they're going to be missing two starters on the offensive line, including their center. What happened last year? Golf sacked five times. Eagles beat them 44 to 6, yet the line is almost the same as it was in last year's game. Eagles ran for like 230 yards. This is just not a good matchup for the Detroit Lions. I know that people like them this year, maybe there's something, but I'm just telling you, this defense, go look at the depth chart defensively. It's like Aidan Hutchinson, not. a lot else, untested. I like the Eagles here, big.
Starting point is 00:48:54 Darn it. Tomorrow's headlines today, the injury-riddled O-line and the Bucks and Brady against the Cowboys. I kind of flip-flop on this one like a politician, Colin. You kind of had me one way, but I'm flipping the headline. Will be. Tom still knows how to captain ship. I like the Buccaneers. Colin, the more you look at this, it's like, geez, what is Dallas going to do offensive? Where are they better? They're not better anywhere.
Starting point is 00:49:17 That's a problem. So if the offensive line struggling, Jerry wants to run the football, and all you've got is C.D. Lamb on the outside. If you bracket him with Winfield, like, what does Dak Prescott really have? I can smell a lot of seven, eight-man fronts and nowhere to go for Dallas. I think I like Tampa in a surprisingly low-scoring game. I think I were going to see a lot of running the football. Well, we have two bad O lines. Yeah. Two struggling with health O lines. I think it is low-scoring. Now, this is in Dallas. I know taking a road team in Tampa can be risky Sunday night football. It's going to be. a nice scene in Dallas, but I like Tampa here, Colin. So do I.
Starting point is 00:49:52 All right, tomorrow's headlines today. This to me is going to be wild fireworks. Justin Herbert against Derek Carr, Chargers, Raiders. A lot of weaponry here. Chargers killed me last year in the final week of the season. If you're a Charger fan, they've been killing you for 20 years. The headline will be payback time. Herbert has finest hour.
Starting point is 00:50:14 Colin, I looked up at the two Chargers Raiders games last year. the Chargers were eight for nine in the Red Zone in two games had over 800 yards of total offense Herbert was unstoppable and the Raiders defense is worse this year all they have is Chandler jones and the kid Crosby like go look at their secondary it's bad i think the chargers really serve notice i know they're overvalued but this is a team that just steamrolls this Raiders defense and this Chargers defense Colin i look at calil mac and bosa i direct car i know you like him a lot He could be in some trouble. We'll see how the Devante Adams things work, but I like the Chargers in this one.
Starting point is 00:50:49 Yeah, it's funny. I picked the Raiders for fourth place because I do believe that they have a pass rush. But I really, you know, you talk about the quarterbacks in this division, I think Kansas City defensively, charges defensively, and Denver defensively have playmakers. Outside, the back seven for the Raiders to me, that's why they're in fourth place. I just think they'll only be able to win by shootout. and I think the other three teams in that division can win multiple ways. Raiders could outplay you for most of the afternoon,
Starting point is 00:51:21 and they're going to give up cheap points on the back end. Colin, we saw it last night. Offensive line. It's not sexy to talk about it, but the bills dominated the line of scrimmage and dominated the game. Great stuff from J-Mack tomorrow's headlines. Today, the stock market's been in a free fall for about six months. How about gold? Legacy precious metals.
Starting point is 00:51:41 Trust them in column. 866674 heard or visit legacy pm investments.com. Pack show, Terry Bradshaw, Eric Mangini, Peter King, J.
