This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's
superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

On the Look Back at it podcast.
From 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hardway with your favorite therapist and host Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor.
It signals to the world that you not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that doesn't.
does not mean that you need to.

The World Cup is home for the holidays in Foxxport.
Super 6 is celebrating with their $1 million World Cup Bracket Challenge.
Go to foxports.com slash bracket and enter your picks for a free chance to win a million dollars.
The contest closes November 20th. Don't miss out.
A million dollars is a lot of money.
You see that guy that sold the winning lottery ticket from his store got like a million bucks.
Yeah, but after taxes, that's what, like $500,000?
On California, it's $70 after taxes.
Who you got winning the World Cup, by the way?
I would like to see England win it.
They have so much angst,
but the English Premier League is so substantial
and so big for sports.
I would like to see England win it.
I would like to see, other than the U.S.,
Leo Messey, finally win the World Cup.
That would be great.
That would be awesome.
He won Copa America,
and then he becomes, I think,
the greatest player in the history of the sport.
Yeah, the England-USA game will be the most watched.
I can't imagine.
I mean, literally the day after Thanksgiving, sitting home watching USA, England,
and we have what I perceive as the most athletically talented soccer team in American history.
Now, it's the youngest in the World Cup, so we're not one in the World Cup.
The win is get out of the group stage, and if you could win one...
One in the knockout rounds.
If you could win one match in the knockout round, you come home feeling great.
Because all these kids, if you look at their best players, they're like 22 to 26 years old, a majority of them.
By the way, how many pounds are you going to gain Thanksgiving week?
There's like three NFL games on Thursday, USA England Friday, Michigan, Ohio State.
Like, you're just going to be sitting around watching sports.
And Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I'm off.
Oh, the show's not on?
Yeah, I'm aware of that, obviously.
I mean, I don't get four days off much in the football season.
And it's going to be the best weekend of sports in maybe a decade.
Watch eat.
Like, you probably won't even work out, will you?
I'll be on that treadmill eating turkey leg.
All right, here we go.
Jay Mack with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So the Nets kicked off Jacques Vaughn's official tenure as head coach with a nice win over the Knicks.
They won by, I think, 27.
Second blowout win for Brooklyn since Vaughn took over for Steve Nash.
But more importantly, no Kyrie Irving, Colin.
They look much better without that locker room disaster.
Kevin Durant spoke out about its reaction to the news that Vaughn.
was chosen to keep the gig.
I was excited for him.
I know the work that he puts in every day.
I know how much he cares about the development of each player and his team as a whole.
And looking forward to playing for him.
All the guys have responded to how he wants us to play.
So I'm looking forward to how we progress after this.
We don't want this to be a honeymoon stage for us.
We want to continue to keep pushing through, keep finding ways to get better.
finding ways to, you know, turn those weaknesses into strengths and keep pushing from here.
Well, at least they're admitting now they need a coach.
They got a coach, Josh Von.
Well, they need a coach.
I thought Kyrie said there's no coach needed.
Well, he's no longer there.
Oh, right.
But he has a lot of defenders.
Kyrie has a lot of defenders among the players.
Listen, I don't even want to get us started on what LeBron just tweeted out about
Kyrie apologized he should be back.
Like, the league is better without this guy being a disaster and all the focus on Kyrie
Irving. Sorry, not a fan. Next up, Justin Fields. Oh, what a story he's been, Colin.
Rush for an NFL record for a quarterback, 178 yards last week, the most in a regular season
game since at least 1940. Head coach Matt Iberfluse loves him, tight end Cole Commett, said
it's been pretty special to watch what Fields is doing right now. Colin, Justin Fields' last five
games, we're going to show you the stats here. Let me see him. Is this guy a franchise quarterback?
It's starting to look like, look at this guy.
Justin Fields on fire.
Now it is a five-game sample size.
Well, I mean, this is what I like, is they're using him right.
So as he's figuring out how to, like all young quarterbacks,
read the defense, see the field.
This is hard, man.
You don't go from the Big Ten to the NFL and just do like, you know.
So as he's figuring it out on the fly,
I think Luke Getzzi, with fairly limited offensive help,
is moving the pocket.
And so this is why I like mobility.
If you've got mobility,
while you're trying to figure out this league,
like Josh Allen's trying to figure out, you know,
the league,
you can pick up a lot of first downs
and score a lot of points with your legs.
That's why the classic pocket passer,
it's rough because that first two years,
in 2022, we give you two years.
At two years, you're out if you don't develop.
So if you're not picking up first downs and moving it
beyond the pocket,
we don't expect you to come into this league and be a great pocket surgeon.
It's the empathy.
The smartest guys, the best guys.
The Andrew Lux who walk into this league, Elway, Manning,
tons of interceptions.
What Peyton Manning led the league in interceptions his first year,
didn't win a playoff game for, I think, like, five years.
It takes a while.
Patrick Mahomes is maybe the best talent ever.
Smart kid coachable.
Admitted, the light came on late, second year, early third.
But Fields, as he's developing that kind of moxie,
can move, extend the pocket, pick up first down.
So it's obvious what the Bears need to do this offseason.
Bolster the offensive line and buy the best receiver you can spend money on.
No, no, no, no, that's a big mistake.
Wait a minute.
The quarterback's on the rookie deal.
This is what you do it.
You did a segment on this.
You go by the best center on the league.
So give him a center, get them a pro bowl letter center.
Okay.
Then you draft another tight end with Cole Commit.
Get another running back.
Get another receiver.
I think what you do, I don't think.
You just go by, because if you spend the most for a receiver, he's going to want the ball and demand it.
Well, it depends who you're getting. Are you getting Tyree Kill? Are you getting A.J. Brown?
No. Those guys have made their rookie quarterback deals look awesome for her to do.
With Mooney and Chase Claypool, can you give me another, even a high end two? A really good
solid guy with Colquamette. I would, they have a huge, they have a huge availability and
cap flexibility. I would go by another tight end, a veteran with Cole Comat. I would go
draft another running back. I would draft two receivers.
And I also would
They've got to get that old line's got to be better
Go buy the best anchor
The best center on the market
And give him for the next three to four years
A Ryan Jensen
A pro bowl level guy up front
Right in front of him at his feet
All right
That's my final story
You just want to throw a ton of money
In a receiver
Well okay fine
The reason is because every quarterback recently
That's been on the rookie deal
You go get a receiver
I mean Josh Allen gets Stefan Diggs
and becomes like, holy cow, this guy's awesome, right?
You're not. Tua gets
Tyreek.
Kylo Mori gets DeAndre Hopkins
and make the playoffs last year.
Like you go get a really good receiver.
If you overpay a little bit, so what?
You're paying nothing for Justin Fields.
I don't know who that receiver is.
I got to look online and parse the spot track contracts,
but there's somebody there.
Final story, Colin, week 10 gets started tonight.
There's a reason we haven't talked much about the TNF.
Awful, awful.
Falcons, Panthers.
They played 11 days ago when Atlanta pulled out stunning victory in overtime.
PJ Walker.
He was benched last week.
Are you going to watch this game?
Half time against the Bengals.
Are you going to watch this game?
I don't know.
I got to check my schedule.
But PJ Walker is going to be starting tonight, Colin.
Fox Bed has it as the Falcons are two and a half point favorites.
Ryan, will you watch this game tonight, Ryan?
I like Marcus Mario.
I kind of like Atlanta's story.
Colin, there are many hockey games and hockey scores.
I need to be keeping up to.
date on. Is he serious? Is that real thing?
He watches hockey. What's the NBA
slate tonight? Haven't even looked. So I'll put
it on my Fubo and watch an NBA game. I bet the
under here. I have a couple guys in fantasy going.
I like Marcus
Mario D'ODA's. I think
Atlanta's story is interesting to me.
I kind of like what they're doing with
Arthur Smith. Is it Arthur Smith, the coach?
Arthur Jay. No, Arthur Smith.
Marioita, when uprights
fine, they run the ball. They're a little
different. I kind of like what I
I kind of like what I see.
I thought they were going to be tanking.
They're like the Utah Jazz.
And then you look up and you're like, they're in these games.
They're fighting their butt off.
They kind of like it.
Two and a half.
Two and a half Falcons are favored.
Would you bet them to win by?
Some money came in on the Panthers.
It was three most of the week.
I'm not going to bet this game.
Yeah.
I don't like betting games.
I got the under under 42 and a half.
No, no.
Primetime unders cashing.
It's not automatic.
Nothing's automatic.
But that's it.
That's all you got.
I got more if you want it.
What do you got?
I don't know. I can come up with something.
J. Mac with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Ly News.
Justin Fields is, some of this stuff is,
I mean, we all watch all these games, right?
You're just kind of watching it and you're thinking, yeah, that works for me.
Like, a prime example is Trevor Lawrence.
He has made some really bad, like, red zone throws that have taken wins away.
But when I watch Trevor Lawrence, I definitely see it.
There are moments I'm like, whoa.
So, like, I think he's going to work.
They're not going to bail on him.
We did this once and you loved it.
Who would you rather have as your quarterback next year from the 20, class of
2021?
Justin Fields or Mac Jones?
Oh, Justin Fields.
Justin Fields or Zach Wilson?
Justin Fields.
Justin Fields or who's the other guy?
Trey Lance.
Justin Fields.
All right.
So it's basically Fields or Trevor Lawrence from that class.
Yeah.
And this second, and I may change my mind by the end of the season, I'd be a Trevor
Lawrence guy.
Oh.
Yeah.
I don't think, you know, there's, it's Jacksonville's always a little dicey.
It's hard to really get my.
Even Jacksonville, quarterback on the rookie deal, they gave Christian Kirk $73 million.
Now he's like a second-tier receiver.
He's been good.
Yeah, he's a productive guy.
I like Claypool just like you do, but I'm just telling you, Fields has, they've unlocked something in him the last few weeks.
It's great.
He's dynamic.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jek.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 was big to me not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app,

Let's bring in Mark Sanchez, a decade in the NFL, first quarterback in league history
to start and win his first week.
Big Jets quarterback.
Put the user colors on.
So we have really been on this.
You're calling the Lions Bears this week.
And there are teams, and this happens sometimes, they're just fun to watch.
So last week I got Miami and Chicago, and I love watching both.
Right.
Right.
So there are teams, as much as J.MAC,
says it. Jets games are a corner TV game for me. I'm just being honest. You don't want to see the
defense. Corner TV. You don't want nine to six phone booth. I look it out. I never put that game on full.
I always had it corner. Noted. But I want to talk about this. Because you got some video on this.
And by the way, you're 35 for 12 more hours. Your 36 birthday tomorrow. It is. You're very excited about that? I guess. You look pretty good.
well you look pretty good for 30 who are we pumping right now what it's uh what's the men's product that you
that's what i take whatever you take i take m drive and there you go plug you'll be real you'll be a stud
forever okay so let's let's talk justin fields i think luke gets he's doing a nice job what do i know
so let's you got some video here i do it tell me what you're seeing oh we're going video off the jump
let's rock i want to with you it's very good let's go we can handle this okay fresh off the
out of the car. Okay, this first clip, well, hold on the clip. Most importantly, I think they finally
just said, you know what, he's 6'4 and a half, almost 6'5, he runs a 4-4. He's yoked.
Let him do it. Go for it. He's big enough, he's strong enough, he's fast enough. Let's unlock some
of that. Let's design some quarterback runs. So instead of having like quick little bubbles and
easy completions that are tags on runs, let's just run him, okay? Because he can do it. Instead of, you know,
Prescott, other guys who play more from the pocket, they'll give them some designer, breather plays
that are just easy completions, easy flip it out to the wide receiver when he's not even moving,
just standing there. Instead of that, they're designing these runs just like the bills, just like
the Giants for the quarterback, right? Now, most importantly, I think he's got to take the next step
and understand some basic stuff. So in this first clip, it's just you get a new wide receiver,
Claypool, he's your shiny new toy. You want to get them the football as many times as possible?
Great. However, you got to count the cows. So let's roll this first clip. All right. Roll the first clip.
And it's basically they get Claypool running in motion, but it's three over three. Count the cows.
Those guys are way too close to those two guys blocking. There's one for the quarterback, two linebackers back here, and they got two pullers coming. So he's got to understand the whole picture. See the big picture. Three for three.
That's no good out there.
Don't give me that.
You want Claypool with a half-man advantage,
or if they don't bump over that backer fast enough,
or that safety doesn't rotate fast enough to chase him,
and now you got three against two advantage offense.
Is that the OC sandal?
This is Justin having options on a play
and needing to know which option to take.
This one, you hand the ball off.
Look at the running back.
Nobody touched him.
If he hands that ball off, he might still be running.
Okay.
Watch the running back the whole time.
It's three over three.
No good.
We don't get the advantage numbers-wise.
They got it covered.
Hand this ball off unless this guy off the edge takes the running back, right?
So it's a three-way go.
Dump it to the receiver quickly to Claypool, read the defensive end.
Look at the running back.
He might hit his head on the goalpost.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
Those kind of plays need to change because they're starting to make their hay in other plays.
He unlocks these and this other third down I'm going to show you.
Okay.
And now they're scoring 50 a game, right?
instead of they're doing it, but they're having to convert third and 16s.
You saw the Monday night game.
Yeah.
He converted consecutive third and 16s against Bill Belichick.
Are you kidding?
Now, I don't know if Bill Belichick drinks, but after that game, it's like, dude, what were we doing on defense?
How do we stop this guy?
And now they're starting to spy him, right?
So you're going to put a spy out there that can run a 4-4?
A spy that can run a 4-4 can't tackle that guy.
He's too big.
Right.
A spy that is big enough to tackle him.
can't run fast enough to tackle him.
So you take the spy out of coverage.
So watch this next clip.
It's the same play that Wilson had the week before.
We're moving motion, using motion.
Okay, boom, somebody's traveling with him, man-to-man across the board.
Johnny's and Joe's, not the X's and O's.
You need routes running away, backs, tight ends, routes on the move.
Look at this shallow cross.
It's that same shallow cross drive route.
He's number one in the progression.
That guy's got to cover him all the way across the field.
and the spy player just stepped up.
Usually the spy player is the whole player.
He jacks those dudes up coming across the middle of the field.
But he's so worried about Justin Fields.
He can't go hit those guys and affect those shallow routes.
Justin throws it down the field out of bounds to St. Brown.
For what? Watch it again.
Underneath guys are going to be wide open.
Boom, man and man across the board. We see it.
Watch this spy guy step up.
You're going to see the shallow cross guy.
See that backer?
step up right in the middle of the field in between the hashes.
He's worried about Justin.
That guy usually hits this shallow crossrunner.
He's like the old school Detroit Pistons.
You can't come across the paint without getting an elbow.
That's his job.
But now because Justin Fields runs for 178 yards a game,
we can't do that.
We've got to put somebody on them.
You got these two guys crossing over the ball like ships in a night, right?
Two ships crossing in the night.
Those guys get picked off.
Somebody runs free.
Those kind of plays.
By the way, next play, fourth and five, punt block.
That changes the game.
Like these kind of plays change the game.
So that's where he's got to take that next step and understand the big picture.
If you're going to run around all game, that's fine.
But we got to nail these.
Count the cows.
Do we have numbers to throw those quick throws to the edge?
No, hand it off.
Just trust the run game.
And then in these type situations, understand the defense.
If it's man-a-man, it's backs and tight ends, crossing routes all day long.
Let these guys run away.
That's his number one target, Mooney.
number one in the progression. Drive, said it last week.
The basic 12-yard in to your back leaking out the back door.
It's like those things.
Once he gets him, this is going to be scary.
And in a year, think about Green Bay.
They're turning down.
No question.
The lions, I don't know, huge divisional matchup this week.
The Vikings are kind of running away with the thing.
They can win a wild card.
I mean, think about that.
The Bears could win a wild card if he flips this thing,
but he's got literally,
like a week and a half to figure it out
or it's just not going to work.
See, you didn't think you were ready to come out of your car and crush it.
No, let's go.
Ready.
Now, you want to do another M-Drive.
36 years and rocking, babe.
So let's go.
Let's talk Jets.
Yeah.
Because this was a corner TV game for me.
My takeaway is it was just a good matchup
because the bills don't have a consistent run game.
They tend to be big play, you know,
play dependent and the Jets pass rush takes away six second drops. So I thought this was just
that Jets front is a bad matchup for this Bill's team. It was a very good matchup. They got active.
They played up to their competition. I think credit Robert Sol and that defense for making
things hard on quarterbacks. I think CoSell nailed it with these kind of plays like
Josh clearly couldn't see him because Williams was in his face, right? Like he clearly couldn't see
that guy. But whatever. Williams was in his face. I don't care how he got there, why he got there.
It happened. And the Jets defense is responsible for it. Josh just didn't look as comfortable this game.
It just looked a little hazy, a little murky, a little muddy. Like it wasn't as clear and he
wasn't as decisive with his throws. Like even right after he threw that, he started to fade away.
It was like, oh, we're good. Easy completion in the fly. Oh, what just happened? You know?
And a lot of that is credit to this defense for muddying up looks, changing up.
some of their stuff, they'll have to go back and look at it again during this bi-week.
But listen, as long as Zach takes care of that football, they incorporate Robinson in the
run game, like they got to get that thing rolling, that run game.
I mean, the sky's the limit.
They can't let Zach do what Justin Fields does because he's not quite that fast, right?
But he's, listen, he's got plenty to get him there when their defense plays like that.
So the position in my life that has really changed is tight-ins.
So when I was a kid, Dave Casper for the Raiders, but not a real fast athlete, 87.
It wasn't until like maybe Kellynne Winslow.
You're like, whoa, that's different.
And then there's been, you know, different tight ends that have come.
But now I often look at it as, you know, a kid is six, five and a half, two, 55, and runs.
And I watched T.J. Hawkinson in game one with Kirk Cousins.
And it was like, do we understand what Kirk Cousins?
just got.
Right.
So go back to your career.
Jets, Eagles, Cowboys, Washington.
Who was the best tied end you had?
And what did it do for you?
Well, I think maybe athletically, Dustin Keller was a no-brainer.
And he just put so much stress on defenders because if it's a backer, I love my matchup
with Dustin.
If it's a safety, I love Dustin's physical matchup with his, you know, being able to body
those guys and go up for throws, right?
If it's a backer, it's just run by him because he's so quick.
Zach Ertz, one of those guys who, not the biggest catching radius in the world,
but still a physically imposing guy.
And talk about a guy who could be like an All-American basketball player.
Like he just understood spatial awareness.
Boxing out.
Yeah, just like where to slam on the brakes.
And he learned a lot of that from Brent Selleck, who at the end of his career physically wore down
and wasn't quite as fast.
The Niners tie-in?
Brent Selleck from Philly.
Philly, Philly.
Who tutored Zach Ertz before Ertz kind of took off.
And now Goddard's taken off.
But think about that.
They've had three tight ends in a row in Seleck, Ertz, and Goddard that can all play.
They love that position.
They know what it looks like.
But back to those guys understanding how to play basketball on the low block, box a guy out,
when to run, when to slow down, when to speed up in a cut, when to round the cut,
when to get.
You know, in zone, you want to attack the space and get to the space.
immediately, don't make a bunch of right angles, right? No cuts in space. Just get to where you're
supposed to be and spread the defense out. In man to man, you've got to run the exact routes and
cross guys up in basketball, man to man, cross them up between your legs, Alan Iverson,
that kind of stuff. That's how they play. But T.J. Hawkinson, go right back to what we were
talking about with Justin Fields and knowing man to man, dude, routes running away, backs and
tight ends. You're telling me a guy who knows that the back is always open, the tight end's always
open? Kirk Cousins. Everybody gives him a hard time. Oh, check down Charlie. He doesn't throw it down
the field. Alex Smith, the back and the tight end are always open, right? When you get your big sexy
matchup on the edge and it's one-on-one and everybody, you know, it's an all-out pressure and you got to
throw it to your number one wide out, great. Go for it. But those routes inside are like automatic for
those guys. So every time you give Kirk Cousins man-a-man, he's licking his chops. I mean, he's got plenty of
options on the edge, but backs and tight ends.
He just makes a living off of it.
All right, stick around Mark Sanchez, crushing it.
Cushing it.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day
But just so y'all know
I mean at this point
Mark this is the second episode
where we've discussed crack
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line
We also have AIDS on the table right now
So
Thank you finishing that sentence
I don't think there's a more important
year for black people
Really?
Yeah
For me it's one of the most important years
For black people in American history

Mark, Mr. Video Sanchez is crushing it.
Movember Global Charity aimed at helping men live longer.
If you want to go the extra mile, visit Movember.com. Donate to cause.
All right, Mark.
So this was said to me recently by somebody that's been in this league coaching for a long time.
They said what concerns me about Arizona is that Kyler's no longer young,
but even veteran quarterbacks need a half a dozen layups a game.
and that what Cliff is doing is running an offense that is asking Kyler to repeatedly be Superman,
and you've got to give some easy, even the veterans, Tommy's going to want his six to seven layups.
Is it a fair criticism?
I don't, they ask Herbert to do a lot.
They ask Joe Burrow to do a lot, right?
Those guys are elite processors, and even elite processors, the Brady's, the Mannings.
They want a couple breather plays, as you mentioned.
Those kind of plays are getting taken away by these teams.
And they've started the game plan that the Niners and Domingo Ryan's put out on those guys last year was instead of rushing, a lot of times, defensive ends will rush one deep and one shallow.
And they remind each other before the snap a lot of times they'll signal to each other so they don't run into each other.
right. So instead of going and going for the quarterback and trying to attack him, they kind of
just keep him in a hallway, right? Muddy up the A gap because he's short, his A gap, which is
directly to his right, so he doesn't get an easy throwing lane. Okay. So now if he can't spin out and
start playing, you know, streetball and scramble drill, you limit's a big chunk of his... I mean, his production
is siloed into this really narrow hallway with a bunch of defenders in the way.
So it makes his life really, really hard.
So now you don't see those big splash plays of him getting out on the edge
because nobody's going to reach for him and attack him.
They'll just absorb him and collect him and keep him inside the pocket.
Now, you want a smaller guy like that to drop back 40 times a game and beat you?
I like my chances on defense.
You know what I'm saying?
It's just like, okay, let's make it as hard as possible.
Don't give up these quick little layups that turn into fast break easy buckets.
Let's lock all that down and see what he does.
Make him throw it 10 plus yards every snap.
It's hard.
That game becomes really, really hard.
Similarly in size, two is small.
Admitted he can't see over the line, but he's having no problem.
So I understand that argument.
Same with Drew Brees.
Same with certain players.
They can find throwing lanes.
Tua's instincts are some of the best.
I don't even know if he can explain it, why he does certain things,
because his brain and his arm are just reacting so fast.
They also have some elite speed on the edge,
and they're also taking deep shots down field,
so it backs off some of those defenders,
so he is able to get some of those underneath easy plays.
He's got a stud tight end.
He's got running backs that can catch the ball out of the backfield.
Giseki's like underrated tight end of the century.
This guy can ball.
He's been good for a couple years.
Other than the dancing, I think he's amazing.
We've got to work on some of those moves.
He's the classic guy.
He is the classic tight end in this league that is overshadowed by, you know, your Travis Kelsey's, but he is a dog.
But you have to respect Waddle.
You have to respect Tyree Kill.
You don't want to put anybody on an island with those guys.
So if you're helping everywhere else, once again, it's backs and tight ends.
And Tua can move enough.
He's savvy enough.
He's clearly understanding this offense really well.
They're operating at a high level.
They look like the, when a team is just on the same page, they just, you can just tell.
It's clicking.
they look like the 0,8, 09 Patriots
where Brady and Moss went for like 50 touchdowns
or like the greatest show on turf
with Warner and all those guys,
Tori Hold and Isaac Bruce and all.
I mean, that's what they look like.
That's how fast, how quick everything is happening,
and two is in complete control.
Okay, so get the Bengals, Joe Burrell footage ready guys in the back.
You did the game last week.
Obviously, they got a huge lead.
Mix and ran like crazy, which makes everything easier.
But if I said you, I'd never seen Joe Burrow play.
And I said, hey, Mark, this kid in Cincinnati, like, what's the it?
What is it, Mark?
Part of it's Jamar Chase.
Really, I think he eliminates some issues that they had on offense without running the football, like, or the lack of even attempts running the football or whatever.
Obviously, one game has really changed their averages, just like for them, their first two games, they gave up seven sacks and like six sacks or something.
So on average, their sacks per game are going to be crappy until about week 12.
right it's just going to look bad in the averages category just like the amount of runs will look bad
but joe once again elite processor uh has an incredible connection with jamar chase and it's like a six
sense like a spider sense right as soon as he's one-on-one look out you know like it's just the ball's going
there the other thing that i thought was just hilarious is um i walked into the bubble last week
watching their practice and zach taylor was happen to be standing right there the head coach for the bengals
And I walked up and I had done my film prep and it's Friday before the game.
And I walked up and I just said, what's the deal?
Dude, you allergic to handing the ball off or what?
He looked at me like, who the hell is this guy?
Right, right.
And, you know, I kind of said it with a smile or whatever for the shock factor kind of deal.
And he started laughing.
And so we're just going back and forth.
And I said, you know, I'm just shocked.
You guys haven't had a mutiny up front because those offensive linemen, they don't want to play Red Rover all game.
Okay?
They want to go attack somebody.
They don't want to just collect all these defensive lines.
I'm in all game.
I mean, Lyle Collins, I was with him in Dallas.
Like, that guy's a road grader.
He can pass block with the best of them, but he can really, you know, open up to
go forward.
All these guys that they picked up on this whole line.
And so we are laughing back and forth.
And then pregame, I see Joe Mixing on the game.
I don't know him from Adam.
He doesn't know me.
And I just said, hey, I heard you're getting like 20-30 carries this game.
And he looked at me like I was Frankenstein, number one, because that's never been their
game plan.
Right.
But now, once I saw the game unfold, he really did have like 25-10.
He did.
So he was probably like, how does he know our game plan?
You know, who is this guy?
But Joe is always been one of those.
Because of Chase and T. Higgins and Burrow,
nobody ever talked about their defense, very good.
And nobody talks a lot about Mixon.
Mixon's on a short list.
I mean, he's in a top.
Oh, I agree.
He's an absolute baller.
He's got a little Adrian Peterson where he'll run over you.
Yes, he's like a smaller, compact, low shoulders, strong.
That dude's a load now.
You don't want to tackle that guy, especially in space because he's so quick, but he's
falling forward consistently.
I mean, he had 13 touchdowns last year.
So this is, it's not like this guy just burst on the scene, but watch him capture the
edge on all those plays.
They wadded up in the middle and let him go capture the edge.
It's double teams across the board, go one on one with a corner.
Good luck with that, dude.
That's, I mean, that is just a physical mismatch for corners, for backers, for safeties.
And the way he catches the ball?
Do you see him track that football and tap his feet?
I mean, the play before that, a receiver couldn't do it.
And Joe Mixon did the exact same thing on a scramble drill and scored.
So they got plenty there.
They just have to run the ball.
I said it to Zach Taylor, man.
Just hand that thing off.
He said, I want everything to go through our quarterback.
You know, we trust him.
He's an elite process or all that.
I said, it can go to the quarterback.
Snap it to the quarterback, but just let him hand it to somebody.
Well, also, I don't think it's good, even if you have a great young quarterback.
I don't think you should throw the ball 45 times a game.
You could just argue this.
It just gets hit a lot.
Thank you.
A hundred times since the start of the 2001 season,
that's when he's hit the ground with the ball in his hand.
That doesn't count every time he's getting smacked after he lets the ball go.
So, I mean, clearly they want that guy upright.
They want that guy for the long term.
So, you know, you're going to have to run the ball,
especially when it gets cold.
Mark Sanchez was great.
We'll see you tomorrow for J. Mack, Mark Ryan, live in Los Angeles.
Wow.
Look at that.
Happy birthday.
Guys, this is getting out of hand.
It's a herd.
