So, no football today, right? No football today of consequence. But tomorrow, Bill's hats in New England and what appears to be a talent discrepancy of massive massive implications. Bills have not won a divisional game yet. You guys know that?

I haven't played a ton of them, but haven't won a divisional game. Of course, they had that game against the dolphins, but it was in the heat, and they got screwed up and couldn't get the field goal late. They play the next three games of all divisional games at the Pats, then Jets at home, then Dolphins at home. They have a game end of the season with the Patriots. Not the worst draw for the Patriots to get the bills end of the season,

especially the Bills don't have the one seed. They're going to rest their guys that last game. So for the Pats, trying to make the playoffs a second consecutive year, though they look good and they've had the mini-buy because they didn't play last Sunday, they finish off at the Cardinals, which, you know, you're going to have, again, another mini-buy. At the Raiders, interesting going against Josh McDaniels, and that team seems to be playing better, but we'll see by the time we get there. Bengals at home, dolphins at home, to Buffalo.

Very difficult schedule to end the season for the Pats, who stand at 6 and 5, and in fourth place in the AFC East behind the jets who have seven wins, the Bills and Dolphins who both have eight. So good game tomorrow. A lot of discussion about Dishon Watson. I mean, they're playing the Texans, but even people in Houston don't care about that game because the Texans are so bad.

I guess my only thing about, and there'll be a lot of criticism, he didn't speak to the media today, is, what is he going to say? Right? Like, what is he going to say? We're going to have, I mean, I guess we want to draw out an additional apology and find out

what he's learned about himself during his counseling time. But I'm also sure. that there's probably a list of things that he can't say because these are all settled lawsuits. And part of his settlement is can't say nothing about nothing. That's the deal. That's the deal. Can't say nothing about nothing. Then there's this.

I thought this to be really, really interesting. Last week, last week I guest hosted this show. And we were coming off watching the Kansas City Chiefs. come from behind and beat the LA Chargers. And yes, the Chargers have beaten the Chiefs. But it feels like every game on Rewind, right? Whether it's the bills and the playoffs last year with 13 seconds or the previous or the Super Bowl winning year

where every game they came from behind. The Chiefs kind of violate every rule. You ever thought about this for a second? The Chiefs violated it. You're supposed to have a great defense. I don't. look they've patched some holes Chris Jones is amazing they have some very good players

they've skeined up some stuff they're better than they were his first his MVP year but it's not a great div it's not like that's the 85 bears you're supposed to be able run the football they can't really run the football sometimes they can sometimes they can right and whatever you do don't get behind the playoffs

he's a cheat code like Patma Holmes in this short window four and a half years of being a starter five and a half years in the league. There hasn't been anybody that's had this sort of sustained success at the start. It just hasn't. It's incredible.

Yes, you can point out Brady back-to-back Super Bowls, but not the personal success along with the team success. Tyler Boyd of the Bengals said that he sees a Peyton Manning Tom Brady rivalry in Joe Burrow, also in the AFC. Of course, they beat them last year in Kansas City and Pat Mahomes. Quote, I'm going back to that quarterback fight. I look at it like Manning and Brady. You can't stop them.

Comes down to whoever excels and takes advantage of their opportunities and drives and scores points. These are the types of games that we have to take care of the football and not turn it over. I mean, like, even look, week one of the season, I understand that Pittsburgh that Pittsburgh, you know, that Pittsburgh from that point has been an abject disaster. But if you remember, didn't Burrell have like four interceptions? And they're still hanging around late. Like they violate all the rules. They've tried to rework the offensive line.

Obviously, they do have talented running backs. But the fact is that it's not like they've supported him with, you know, some end-of-day's defense. You know, they just try and get turnovers, try and not lose the ball and get it to Burrow. and he'll save the day at the end. So I don't know if this is Manning and Brady. And if it's Manning and Brady, who would Mahomes be? And who would Burrow be?

Because they're very, very different. It does feel like Burrow feels more like a Joe Montana. And Mahomes feels like there's a little far there's a little Marino maybe a little early Elway to him I don't know that one that one's a hard one

because like if and this is where Tyler Boyd's not he's not old so he probably wasn't old enough to remember like Brady's first couple years it was definitely not about him first year especially wasn't about him

now he made plays and he surprised people and what about him. Last year at Burrow, it was about Burrow. They had no shot without Burrow. And Brady grew into being a great quarterback because they, you know,

they had to handcuff him with his, with his inexperience. Manning, of course, was seen as arguably the greatest of all time when he retired. And of course, because Brady had a late career resurgence, that argument has gone out the window. I would make the case that,

Okay, if we take a look at the young quarterbacks, Ryan Music, we take a good, honest, hard look at the young quarterbacks. And we start to understand, hey, youth is served, right? Is Josh Allen, John Elway? And if Josh Allen, if we go like, look back to golden era of quarterbacks and you have all these young guys, right? and by young guys, I mean Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Herbert.

I would throw Lamar Jackson in there and even throw Tua in there. Who would they each be? Maybe what's more surprising is have we realized that kind of youth has been served, that there's just such a gap. I mean, Trevor Lawrence now seems to be coming into his own some. Maybe we're overreacting to last weekend. But there's that group of like seven younger quarterbacks. we'll see how sustainable Jalen Hertz is.

But we have seen some of this before, right? If you go back, there was the previous great quarterback era. Philadelphia had Randall Cunningham. Obviously, they played differently now than they did then. But can we see some Randall in what Jalen Hertz does? You know, you had Marino. You had, heck, you had Jim Kelly in Buffalo. Right?

He had Jim Kelly and Buffalo. but Jim Kelly and Josh Allen are not the same guys. I think what it is is the gap between the young guns who are 25 and under and the old guys, and it feels like there's nobody in the middle. There are guys in the middle.

They're the Kirk Cousinses of the world in the middle. There's the Derek Carr's in the world. It feels like Russell Wilson is going to get lumped in with the older guys when he should be in the middle. The thing is that between Breeze, Rothesberger, Rogers, Brady, heck, even Philip Rivers. Those guys, they played three or four years longer than the previous stars would have played, right? Like Troy Aitman's career was cut short because of injuries, concussions.

But that's what, like when they hold on longer, that shortens or that kills a younger generation. now that you've had kind of a replenishing, now there's a group of very, very good quarterbacks that are 25 years old and younger. I understand what Tyler Boyd is saying like, hey, look, atop the AFC, we think it's Burrow and Mahomes. I got no problem.

Those guys, there's two elite quarterbacks. But I would also say that there's some other, Josh Allen has entered the conversation. I understand Justin Herbert, they have to win more games, get to the playoffs. But I think most people think he's entered the conversation, and maybe Tua enters the conversation some of them. Obviously, Lamar should be in that conversation too.

A different style from those guys in the past, but it has consistently been very, very effective, at least in the regular season. All right, coming up next, former NFL team executive, Michael Lombardi, is going to join me. I want to ask him what he would do if he was running the Broncos, what he would do if he's running the Cardinals. Does he think Tom Brady plays next year?

working with the best of the best in the national football league. Michael, let's start with some of these quarterback issues. First in Denver, what do you do? I put you in their front office, new ownership group. Obviously, Nathaniel Hackett has left a lot to be desired, but so too has Russell Wilson. Wilson, though, you're stuck with for at least three more years. What do you do? That's a hard one.

I mean, that's a really hard question because, you know, you're a basketball guy, Doug, and, you know, I equate what's happening to Russell Wilson to what happened to Alan Irish in late in his career. You know, when a little guy loses his lower body, loses his juice, loses the ability to get to the rim, get to the paint, all of a sudden he becomes a little guy again. And Russell's a little guy again. And all those explosive let Russ cook plays are gone. And, you know, I would say, you know, I was kidding earlier in the year that Russ is a short-order cook. I mean, no disrespect, but I think he's a cafeteria cook now.

I mean, he can't do anything. And if you're George Payton and you just gave away $250 million, you know, George has two jobs, essentially, because the team was in transition. And he has a job where he had the authority to hire the coach, and he had the authority to make the trade. And he's whiffed on both. And then he whiffed the third time by giving him $250 million. So I don't know what to do.

I don't know how you take it over, because I do know this. Russell's very declining player, and he's not a player who sees a decline. Right. Well, that's the problem is it's like, well, you want to, can you surround him with guys that can help carry him,

but he clearly doesn't want that. That was his whole reason wanting out of Seattle, in addition to the money, right, which I think was primarily, but that he never liked being a guy who, hey, let's just be conservative, let the defense, you know, keep you in the game, and then maybe late in the game, you can make a couple of plays. He never wanted that.

I don't think he knows who he is. I mean, he may never have known who he is, but especially now. I mean, it's the hardest thing in sports is to take a great athlete who was once great, and all of a sudden, now you're telling him he's not great. you know, and that's those are hard one of the reasons why Phil Jackson stopped coaching the Lakers

because he was worried about at the end of Kobe's career was somebody going to be able to tell Kobe he wasn't as good as he once was. It's a hard conversation to have. It's a challenge, you know, and it was all there. I mean, I said it last year on my podcast. You know, the fact that he ran for 183 yards last year showed you, he wasn't making those let Russ cook plays. And they were gone.

And the connectivity to his teammates, wasn't there in Seattle. And all you need to do is look at Shane Waldron's offense in Seattle with Gino Smith compared to Shane Walden's offense in Seattle compared with a Russell Wilson. I mean, they're playing in Seattle with two backup with two rookie tackles.

First round picked and the third round pick. I mean, this isn't like they went out there and got the seven blocks of granted in front of their offensive line. The same skill players. I mean, Kenneth Walker's in addition, but Richard Perry, Penny was good. They had good backs last year. They just, you know,

they just didn't move the ball because the quarterback, their point guard, couldn't make a play. Yeah. Yeah. No, I haven't seen this sort of decline. Jason Kidd, remember his last playoff series with the Knicks. Like, he couldn't make a layup, couldn't make a shot. But I like the Iverson analogy. And the other part to the Iverson was he didn't want to, I don't want to know another MVP come off to bench, right?

Like he didn't want to, that's who you are now, right? That's who he really. And it's a hard conversation. And, you know, it's hard to have that. And if you're not humble, which clearly Russell's not. and he doesn't see it. His teammates see it. See, that's the problem.

The problem George Payton has his general manager of the team is the team knows it. You can't fool the locker room. You can't fool those guys in a locker room. The two things you can't do in a locker room in my 35 years being in the NFL, you can't fool the players on a player evaluation

and you can't fool them on money. I think you also can't fool them. Tell if I'm wrong, you can't fool them on coaching too, right? If the coach says nobody's doing. No, you can't. They've got to believe you're making them better. Once, see, to me, I was surprised Denver kept, Denver didn't make a coaching change after that horrendous performance in Carolina.

Not because I'm trying to get Nathaniel Hackett. Fired, I'm not. But the reality was there was no energy. There was no, it was lethargic. The team looked like they stopped listening. And when you were a general manager in the league and you're an executive in the league, you're looking for all those signs. I mean, everybody was talking about, though, you've got to fire Josh McDaniels because he lost Indianapolis. That team plays hard.

Yes. That team's been a lot of close games. Then they come back and win two games in overtime, on the road. I mean, there are signs when you need to do something. There was a sign in Indianapolis you needed to do it. Now, I'm not sure that Jeff Saturday was the right answer, but there was a sign at India needed to do it. What about Saturday?

What are your impressions been now if you haven't seen him on the job for three weeks? Well, I think he makes the classic mistake. You know, I mean, game management doesn't happen on the game. Game management happens in the preparation of the week. You know, he gets the first down. He's got the two-minute warning. They convert the fourth down. And so now, you know, they can get their drive going.

And instead of looking at a play clock, this is the biggest mistake we make as fans and people that broadcast the game to us make is that the play clock is not the play clock. The play clock is called the play clock because that's how many plays are left in the game. And so when you start letting time drift away, you're letting plays drift away. you're letting plays drift away. And you have the Indianapolis Colts. You're not a great offense. You're not playing against the Chiefs on the other side.

Neither are the Steelers. So when you started to let 30 seconds go, where you let 60 seconds go like he did, 65 actually, and let it go, you're just giving away plays. You're basically playing defense better than the Steelers can. I thought it was gross mismanagement. But I don't know how you could expect him to know any of this. Like, it's just comical.

Like, there's an apprenticeship you have to serve in any job. There's the 10,000-hour rule. We've forgotten about that. I don't care if you played the game. I don't care about how many Super Bowls you've been. Unless you've been on that side of that, unless you practice situational football and lead people, you can't do it. It just doesn't happen. Ozzie Newsom says to me one day when he came up from being an ex-player,

and he sat in the room with Belichick and me and we were going over to player personality. He looked at me and he said, yeah, I never knew what went up to appear. This is way more than I thought about. And then Ozzy just ingratiated himself into the process and learned it and became great. But you can't skip those steps. It would be like me saying, I'm going to go sing, I'm going to go tour with Bruce Springsteen and play the guitar. I've never played the guitar before. I don't know if I would go that, I would go that far.

I do think you can't, there's nothing like on the job trainers, nothing like learning it and knowing it and being there. But I do think there's a, you know, like your center. He's never been through it. You see, people think situational football happens on. Sunday. It does it. It's called preparation. It's called understanding how to play the game. It's called making adjustments on the sideline. It's called being able to say, you know, next time we run a return instead of trapping the four technique, we're going to pin them. It's those conversations. See, we don't hear those on television, so we think anybody can coach on the sideline. It has to

happen during the week. If it doesn't happen during the week, it's insignificant. You're preparing your team to win. If you don't prepare your team over every situation to win, It's like Sonny Dykes when he kicks the field goal to win the game. We practice it every week. It was no big deal to us. That's called, that's a head coach. Michael Lombardi joining us here in the herd, Doug Gottliebilling in for Colin. All right, let's go to Phoenix, Arizona Cardinals.

Season appears lost. The good news is that everybody got an extension in the offseason. The bad news is that the coach and the quarterback don't seem to be getting along. I'm not a body language expert, but there was some terrible body language coming from their quarterback, and then the strange comment about their scheme being, let's just say, messed up on one fourth down where I don't know why you throw it deep on fourth and inches.

If you were in Arizona, what do you do? Well, I would have never given them that contract. I had two years of free money. I had two years. I wasn't going to let him pull the gun in my head and give them $250 million. Four years, right? Because you could have had the two franchise tags too. Like literally four years.

Well, he had another year, and he had another year, I believe he had two more years left under contract. And then I could have made a decision at that point. I mean, there was no guarantee I was going to franchise them. I've never seen a franchise. I didn't see him as a franchise player. The great buddy Ryan has a wonderful line. He says, you know, there's a place in football for the little man. It's just not in front of the big man.

And we see that with Kyle Murray. When he hasn't played a full season yet, he's going to get hit. And if he doesn't make plays out of the pocket, when does he make plays? If he doesn't make those run around loose plays, where do you get? I don't understand the urgency by the Cardinals to run ahead and give this guy 250. Who were you competing against? Like, who were you competing against? You know, and everybody got an extension.

Everybody's happy except the only guy who's not happy is the owner. And you can fire Cliff. Who do you think wants to come in and coach this kid? You know, when Buda Baker got hurt last year, you know, every player of the Cardinals ran onto the field except one. You know who didn't go out there? Tyler Murray. I mean, how do you give $250 million to a guy doesn't want to leave the team? And then he blames everybody else.

He throws everybody under the bus. What happened to accountability? How much of it is Tua? How much of it is everything else? Well, you can't – look, I'm not a Tua fan. And I think once he plays in bad weather against better defenses, it'll show up. But you can't take away from them. Now, last four games, he's played against the bottom third defense every single week.

You know, and when he's played against good defenses, Buffalo and New England early in the year, they scored 22 points in 20. The 20 they scored against New England. The defense scored seven. So people that understand how to play them will take away some of these easy throws. And like Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh dropped five interceptions. But you've got to give them credit for being really accurate and get the ball with his hands.

Armstead, the left tackle is not going to play this week. That's going to hurt. And then the right tackle, Brendan Schell, who was with Russell up there in Seattle, had a hard time block in San Francisco. So it'll be interesting, especially playing against a team that plays so much zone like San Francisco where all eyes are on the quarterback and they run to the ball. This will be interesting to see how he's going to fit it in here and how they're going to play. Look, I think they'll move the ball because they have one of the best players in the

game in Tyree Kill. He tilts the field. And if you don't play Tyree Kill to a certain style, it becomes part to play. If you're the Cowboys, do you add Odell Beckham Jr. Keeping in mind that Washington should be coming back healthy, probably a number three wide receiver James Washington. And they're playing well without them. They got the running backs. Do you bring in another mouth that wants the ball,

you know, another mouth to be that wants the ball, considering it's a second ACL and no one's seen play football? That's the question, Mark. I mean, everybody just thinks that O'Dell's just going to, like, a trading card. He's just going to go up there and show up and get six catches for 100 yards. Like, I don't know. I can't answer that. Unless I watch him work out, I don't know how you could be interested in signing them.

I don't know how you could do it. because he's coming off his second ACO. He's not going to know the system very well. And let's face it, he wasn't dazzling. You know, he played well in the Super Bowl, but he got hurt again. I don't know what you do. I think it all comes down to the medical. It's all going to come down to because here's the thing.

There's been a report out today he's been clear to play, right? He's passed his physical. One thing I know about the National Football League, you can pass your physical. You might not be clear. You might not be able to play. You can, the doctors just say he's okay. but it may take six months before you're up to where you need to go. What's this quickness like?

What's disposed of this like? I mean, Odell's dropped a lot of balls over the last few years, probably because his lower body wasn't great. When players drop balls, especially great receivers with great hands like Odell has, it tells you the legs are going. You look at the Packers, and they got Dobbs back. It appears that Aaron Rogers is going to play this weekend. they own $59 million guaranteed if he comes back.

This talk of trading him seems far-fetched. Does he retire and walk away from $59 million? Would you? No. Of course he's not going to do it. I mean, look, when they gave him that contract, they didn't give him for one year. This is a three-year plan.

This is a three-year plan. He's going to play two more years after this year. The Jordan Love experiment is going to end this offseason. They're going to have to trade them because they're not going to carry that 50-year. of a contract at this ridiculous number. When you gave Aaron Rogers that contract, you said, look, he's our quarterback for the next three years. Just like when you gave Russell Wilson that contract,

he's our quarterback for the next three years. Just like when you gave Kyle and Murray that contract, you have to be prepared to answer. It's Judgment Day. This is what happens. You know, it's called Second Order Thinking. You just can't give the money away and said, oh, by the way, we don't want to do that anymore.

No, no, no, no. We gave him the money. And look, Aaron Rogers deserves the money. He didn't play. He's not played well this year to the level that we're used to. He's turning the ball over. Some of that to his thumb. A lot of it to the offense, because they've never reconstructed the offense.

They lose DeVos A-A Adams, and they keep trying to run the same offense. You can't do that. Is it fixable? Off-season fixable. Oh, I mean, they've got to fix their defense. I mean, that defense is a couple. I mean, they can't stop anybody from running the ball. But a lot of this, too, is the head coach is a play caller.

He's not a head coach. Everybody, you know, their special teams supposed to get better. Rich Bassati is a really good special teams coach, but if you don't give time and effort into what he does, you're not going to get better. You know, there's a fact, the problem is the Packers are a tough team. And a lot of it is because their head coach isn't tough.

There's not a lot of toughness to their team. Rogers is the toughest guy they have. They don't have that toughness that they need to compete. But that's why they lose playoff games. That's why they lost two-home playoff games. Speaking of playoff games, there's been a ceiling. Kaepernick's really the only quarterback to run,

read option, being that type of mobility, and succeed in the playoffs and they got to a Super Bowl, nearly won a Super Bowl against the Ravens. Eagles look like they're going to get the number one seed. They got a loaded team, but then the question becomes, last year we saw Jalen Hertz in the playoffs and it wasn't great.

There have been some great things. There have been some okay things, but man, the run game for the quarterback playing 11-11 is fantastic. Does it work in the postseason? Well, I mean, we're going to have to find that out. I'm not sure it will. I mean, look, the Eagles defense has got to be your biggest concern. They haven't stopped the run either.

you know, and they're going to have to make plays in the passing game when the other team knows they have to throw it. That's the key. Everybody, and I call it the six-back offense, the teams that run it, Buffalo runs a six-back offense. It works, but it works for Buffalo because when he has to throw it, he can throw it. But the six-back offense is only going to be as good as when you can throw it. And if you can't throw it very well, it won't help you. Herbert's caught some criticism because, you know, he's seen as a stat pattern. Well, they don't win that much.

So, you know, quarterbacks of win-loss, winning and losing is part of the stats for quarterbacks. On your level of evaluation, what are your thoughts on Justin Herbert? I think he's great. I don't think he's just, I mean, I think he's struck. I think when he's playing with guys, first way, he's playing with two backup tackles. He got to get a whole lot of time. I think they needed another running back to go along with, whether it was Sonny Bichel or not, I'm not sure, but to go along with Eckler. And when he doesn't have his skill guys, when he doesn't have Mike Williams, who is his big play player,

and Keenan Allen missed a bunch of games, it's hard. You know, it's a hard. I think the guy's tremendous. I think the guy's great. I think every coach in America is going to want to line up. If that job opens up, every coach in America is going to want that job because of him. Because you can win with him. Yeah, and he's got these all the off-the-field stuff, all the, you know, he doesn't have the drama of so many of the others.

Does Brady play football next year? I mean, Brady's playing at a good level. It's just, you know, they're not, I don't think the team. was structured for Brady. If you go through Brady's history, of him as a player, you know, he's always had a slot receiver that he can trust, whether it's West Welk or Danny Amadola, whether it's Julianette Ellum. Troy Brown, it doesn't matter. Always has had a nickelback, whether it's Kevin Fawke, you know, James White. There's always been a nickelback, Shane Vareen, and he's always had a tight end. And he doesn't have any of those three things.

And so he's not the same player. And so people think, well, he's declining. He's still throws the ball as well as anybody. The problem is the offensive line isn't very good. They can't run it. And when they can't run it, you can't throw the ball 50 times. I don't care for your Tom Brady, especially when you don't run around, when you don't make a loose play with your feet. It looked. It looked like Trevor Lawrence of we were told, hey, he's best prospects since Andrew Luck.

But that's limited, those of us who don't watch every snap all 22 the way that you do. Is Trevor Lawrence where he should be this first? far into his career? I think he's really gotten better. I think he needs more consistency. I was impressed this week because oftentimes I criticize the Jaguars because they've got to throw the ball and they need to run. They need balance. Every quarterback needs balance. Every quarterback needs kind of a way to, and when ATN's going, they're a really good offense. I think they're one receiver away from being a really good offensive team in Jacksonville. And I think he's gotten better. His mechanics have improved. He's been more consistent as a performer. This is going

be a big week for them. He should go into Detroit against the secondary. They should be able to throw the ball against Detroit. It's a game they should win. I mean, to me, Jackson was the best team in the South. They just haven't played like. They've had too many games. They've given away going forward on fourth down, making some in-game decisions that you have to question. You want to be a smarter guy watching football, lady watching football? Wilson, but the ongoing developments of how things are unraveling in Denver is just fascinating and wildly entertaining. So this first story sort of has two parts to it. Yesterday on the show, you talked about how it was Russell Wilson's birthday. Well, his wife, Sierra, had a birthday party for him. The reports are coming out of Denver. This is from Mike Cliss. He says, there's been some gossip about Russell Wilson's standing in the locker room. Here's some context. Per source, Wilson's wife, Sierra, threw him a birthday party last night, and it, quote, looked like about half the team was there on the player's day off.

How do you take that? I, look, I try to be the fair guy here, okay? About half's about right. Like, if you invite everybody and half the people show up, that's about right. But I also don't know It's like Is it about half? Like Is it really about half?

Is it the, Remember when the clippers were bad? When I was growing up, the clippers were bad, it used to be the comical Who's counting all the seats? Who's counting actual people? Like there's 10,000 people like,

There's like 150 people here tonight. Like, is it that sort of? Or was it really, if it's really 25 guys, Like I think that's a decent turnout. I think it's a decent turnout. Because, you know, there's lots of guys that are like married,

kids. I don't want to do that. I'm sure there's some defensive guys like, no thanks. Probably a guy or two forgot. Like, I always forget. Like, I'll tell you on my show, when Jay Stu turned 50, God, you're old Jay Stu. When he turned 50,

did half of our show show? No, our whole show unit showed up, right? Everyone knows Jay Stu. Far more revered than Russell Wilson. But I will tell you, only half of the radio host that he's worked for showed up. Yeah, well, someone in these quarters declined to go, too. Music was a no-show, so thanks, Ryan.

I was an RSVP'd cannot attend. Different than a no-show. A no-show is, I told you to come. Yeah, that was a, I cannot make it. I did not, I did not see, Rome was not there. Did Rome RSVP? No, I think he had some horse races to get to. There you go.

Were they epic? I'll say this. The party was phenomenal. Okay, I'll say this. In the words of Colin Cowherd himself, stuff gets out when people want it out. This coming out hours after the party feels intentional to have it come off a certain way, and for that fact, I don't think it comes off in the way that it's intended.

I think you, as you're saying, being the fair person, looks at it and goes, about half makes sense. I think most people, and judging from the reactions that I saw on Twitter, most people look at this, and it comes off as half the team doesn't like Russell Willis. So that's my general point. Whether it's fair or not or whatever, it's the perception is reality. And the perception is half your dudes showing up on a day off for your birthday doesn't sound like a very good turnout. Again, I don't know what the number is, but I was, you know, it's like when you got married, what's the percentage of people that show up compared to what you're invited?

Me specifically is not a good example. We got married in the middle of a pandemic. So it was like 20 people. Well, because it was... I know. Yeah, okay. But I think it's usually, they say it's like, typically, I mean, depending on how money you invite, it's like 75%. Yeah.

So, a little low, but it's not like, it's not like two dudes showed up. Right. And there's this gigantic party. Sure. On the other hand, Sierra and Russell are throwing the party. And normally you would think, like, that's going to be a good party. Yeah. I think that's how most people would have taken it.

The part two to this was Nathaniel Hackett was asked about, is there any consideration? Was Nathaniel Hackett invited? And did he go to the party? I have not seen an official. That's the recording that I want. Mike Cliss, get on that one. I'll text my boy, Brandon. He'll let us know. He said Nathaniel Hackett was asked about the quarterback situation. Are you considering making a move at quarterback? He said, right now, no. Which obviously perked up everyone's ears.

So then he was followed up. And he said, okay, sorry, not even. a thought, not even a question. Russ is our quarterback. It's just always... Here's the thing under a spotlight. Look, I love Michael Lombardi. My sister was with the Raiders when he was there and she raves

about his level of professionalism and how good he is at what he does. But the idea you got to study this thing. I agree. You have to study and prepare for it. I agree that Jeff Saturday in a pinch, there's a lot of stuff. He doesn't know he's got to learn. You can empower people to do those things.

Nathaniel Hackett trained his whole life for this job. His whole life has been for this job. And he sucks at it, including that answer. That is a terrible answer. The only answer is asked me the same question. Doug, are you considering making... No. Okay. No.

No. And look, Russell Wilson is not the problem. We're the problem. Coaching staff, we got to make him more comfortable. we've got to make it easier for him. The problem is us. That's how you answer the question. What you say behind closed doors doesn't matter.

Top five things Tom Brady should do in terms of playing football or what he should do for work next year. Let's start with number five. Number five would be return to the Tampa Buccaneers. You know, you've been there, you've got sweat equity. they'll do anything they can't. They got no real plan B in place there. The division stinks. They're still going to go to the playoffs this year, and that division stinks.

Like, do we really think Carolina's getting turned around in that short order? No, they're going to have to get a new quarterback. Saints, whoish, cap hell, and need a quarterback. Atlanta, like Marcus Mariotta, they're going to get healthier, but you're fine if you're Tampa. You're still going to make the playoffs this year. it's not a crazy idea to go back to town. How about number four? San Francisco 49ers.

Stick with me for a second. The Trey Lance thing, it ain't going to work. Right? Nah. A guy with limited to no experience, college football, pro football. Now you get to a decisive year three with a team that, how they could well win a Super Bowl, go to a Super Bowl this year. Garoppolo's up.

Garoppelow's out. Brady could come in, his favorite team growing up. come back home, why not? Maybe it doesn't fit how athletic you need to be as a quarterback for their, you know, zone blocking stretch run game. But outside of that, I mean, Tom Brady go along with all those dudes they have, ho. Not a bad idea.

All right, how about you do this? This number three, the third most, third best scenario. Go to Fox. Like, call the Super Bowl. year call games still be involved in football tell people what you really think right that's what he says he wants to do work for Fox number two look do I think do I think that they stand by Derek Carr they gave Derek Carr a new deal I think they could very reasonable okay I don't like I don't think Derek Carr is as good

as his reputation over what he did last year is but I don't think he's as bad as he's maligned this year. He's more solution than problem. But Josh McDaniels has worked pretty well with Tom Brady. And Tom Brady, as much as Devonty Adams, like, man, I really like working with, with, wait, Tom Brady? I'm good there. And the number one, the best possible idea is, okay, you ready for it? It's a combination of all these things.

Call the Super Bowl on Fox. And announce during the game that you're going to play. and where you're going next year. I mean, the Tom Brady announcement of Tampa Bay carried us through the pandemic, that and the Jordan documentary, last-dance documentary. Why not? And oh, yeah, by the way, when Tom Brady calls his first game, especially if it's this year, he's going to want to play football again.

It's impossible. Coaches want to, players want to, and he believes he's able to. That's the opportunity. And there's your best one. All right, you got college hoops tonight. You got NBA tonight. Boy, Luca was amazing. tomorrow you have Colin will be back
