This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey, guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the ice.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest
moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories,
their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on.
A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman.
Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud.
But how long can this alliance last?
Tell me what you know.
Is somebody coming after me?

The reverb post-Super Bowls is always interesting to watch.
Dak Prescott kind of doubled down on Stephen Jones and Jerry Jones saying,
this Brian Schottenheimer higher, I know it was a Friday PM news dump.
I like what I see from Dallas.
I feel like we compete with the Eagles and beat them for the most part.
I don't want to say check.
the record when the other guy's holding the trophy
right now so credit to them they've earned and they
deserved it by all means but
yeah very close
so I
I'm trying to be
reasonable I think the NFL's getting
a little easier to predict
not the games but the
standings over the course of time because you
just go to the best quarterbacks
and if a quarterback has a capable coach
I think just
just in the
NFC no chiefs no Ravens no
bills, no Joe Burrow, no Harbaugh, none of that stuff.
Take the Harbaugh's out. Just go to the NFC.
I think if you're looking at quarterback roster coach, Eagles, let's give them a number one.
I think the Lions get Aidan Hutchison back.
The Rams have hit on several draft picks. If Matt Stafford returns, they need a left tackle
in a corner, they're going to be good.
Jordan Love, little hot and cold, but Green Bay is well run.
I wish they'd go in on Miles Garrett.
Washington, Jaden Daniels, maybe I have them low.
Again, they have a ton of money to spend.
Washington's no worse than fifth.
They may be better.
I think San Francisco, again, the coach, they're going to sign Brock Purdy.
They're old.
They need to hit on some draft picks.
They need to shore up the O line.
But Christian McCaffrey comes back.
They'll probably move Debo.
They'll be fine.
Minnesota and Seattle may not be Super Bowl worthy,
but they have good rosters with good players.
They have dynamic players on both sides.
They've got playmakers on both sides of the ball.
And I think Baker Mayfield, Caleb Williams, 9 and 10, good enough coaches.
Maybe I'm wrong, and I should have Dallas 9 or 10.
I have Dallas kind of in that Atlanta space, kind of 11-ish, 12-ish.
You're kind of rolling your eyes, but I don't think that's unrealistic.
I really don't.
I'm trying to be – I may have Washington low.
Now, Rams decide – I think –
what you said earlier makes sense.
The Stafford wants more money. He's not paid enough.
And his buddy Cooper Cup. So the Rams
are like, okay, we can't pay all you guys.
I do think your suggestion
earlier is an interesting one.
The culture is great with the Rams.
They, if they, and again,
they're going left tackle, they're going wide
receiver and corner. If the Rams, and they've
drafted very well recently, hit on a couple of draft picks,
I think Aaron Rogers to the Rams is not crazy
if they can't come to terms with Stafford.
keeps them upright. In that division
with Kyler Murray, Gino Smith, Brock Purdy,
McVeigh and that roster,
that is interesting.
Outside of that,
I don't, I mean, there's no way I can put them higher than like eight.
I contend if Seattle didn't have cap problems,
they should have drafted a quarterback.
I like Seattle's roster a lot.
Only team you feel a little low on here,
besides the Niners,
is maybe the Vikings, didn't they win like 14 games this year?
And if McCarthy can give you
85% of what Darnal did
and they reallocate the Darnal money
into like an edge rusher, Miles Garrett.
I don't see why Minnesota can't go back
into the top three or four in the answer.
Remember, DAC, as of today,
DAC is the highest
cap hit
in league history next year.
Not great. You can fool around with the numbers, but
you know when Jerry Jones
could not spend $8 million
on Derek Henry,
you know, a year ago on the trade deadline.
Like they tip their hand.
Now, for the record, Philadelphia is going to have to massage the cap, too, because
you know, Philadelphia went all in on stuff.
And, you know, I was reading the story yesterday last night sitting around.
And, you know, eventually you got to pay the Piper.
So they got so many great players.
Thank God they've been so good drafting.
They're safe for now.
But, I mean, just they're paying two receivers, a tight end, a quarterback, some offensive
linemen, and Jalen Hertz.
So they'll have some stuff.
They're going to have to hit on more draft picks.
But I don't get it.
I mean, I guess Stephen, Jerry, and Dack, it's the company line, but I don't get it.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news.

Huge news.

Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name,
Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it
one of the early names of our band
before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
for people could call in and say, hey Jonas,
and then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

J-Mac with the news.
Turn on the news.
This is the Heard Line News.
I love all this NFL off-season trade talk.
Let's start with Debo Samuel.
Yesterday, he made his second trade request in the last three years.
The Niners have given him permission to find a new dance partner, and the odds are coming in
on Debo.
plus 250 that he stays with the Niners,
which I don't think is going to happen.
What's interesting is sitting at number three
is the Denver Broncos.
I know.
They're very Cortland-Sutton dependent.
Why isn't Washington on this list?
A good.
Very fair question.
But regarding the Broncos,
Debo spoke out about how good the Broncos can be next year.
Maybe he sees himself, hey, Sean Payton, smart guy.
Yeah.
I like what I see from Bo Nix.
He's a bit of a checkdown artist.
He's not throwing the ball deep that often.
The real smart offensive coaches like chess pieces.
And I do think I like Debo.
I don't think he's a great receiver.
I think he's a good receiver.
I think he's an amazing chess piece.
So again, he would work with Andy Reid.
He would work with Sean Payton.
He works with the right coach.
Debo doesn't work for everybody.
If you just put him out wide, he's not going to separate.
I think Debo to Denver or with Cliff Kingsbury is a really, really interesting fit.
Yeah, I don't understand how Carolina made this list.
The Panthers, like...
Well, they have an offensive coach.
I know Canales.
Bryce, you're going from the penthouse diners every year in the mix to, you know, kind of the doghouse.
Next up, Colin, with the NFL season officially wrapped up the combine and pro days are on the horizon.
Shedur Sanders is going to meet with plenty of teams, but he has revealed he's already met with the Browns.
We're picking second.
And the New York Giants.
nothing yet on the Titans
Deion has said there would be certain teams
he would not allow Shadour to play for
I guess that means the Browns and Giants
are not one of them
do you think Shadur goes top six
Yes he'll do very well in the interviews
Shadur will do exceedingly well
when you get him in the room
he has been smartly parented
and he will be great interviewing
do you think there's some concern
like let's say the Browns take him
Stifansky coming off a pretty ugly season
and let's say the Browns win six games next year.
No.
Is Daphansky in trouble and Dion Gums?
Shadur and Stadour and Stifansky are a great fit
because Shadour's a pocket guy in Stifansky's history
is very good with the guys that sit in the pocket.
I think that's one of the better fits.
And then you quickly move on from Deshawn Watson.
You don't want to bring him back in the locker room.
I don't think it's what's great about the NFL.
If you hit on four or five draft picks,
which Andrew Barry is a good GM, it's amazing.
Think about how many.
much trouble, J-Mack. Denver
was in a year ago. They were
a mess. Oh, they land Bo Nix
and they make the playoffs. In a division
with Jim Harbaugh and
Andy Reed. That's what's
great about this league. If you nail your
draft fix, you can get out of cap trouble
because Cleveland's roster
is not terrible.
It's okay. They've got pieces.
It's a middle of the pack roster
with some high-end players.
The problem is the
Watson situation. I think you're right.
Like, you got an opportunity to drafting second?
Why would you pass up on a quarterback?
You get out of the Watson era.
This makes total sense to get Shador, too.
I don't see him falling past it.
Final story, Colin, is the Golden State Warriors.
There are two and oh since adding Jimmy Butler,
aka Jimmy Buckets at the trade deadline.
We've talked about how this could be Steph's last ride.
It sounds like Curry echoed that sentiment to Draymond Green.
We got Jimmy Butler.
Like, this is no small deal.
It's Jimmy Butler.
Steph, he looked like he got belief.
After the trade, he looked at me and he said,
man, it's crazy because it just dawned on me.
They're like, this is it.
Yeah.
Like, this is...
This is the last run.
Last ride.
Like, and I said, let's do it.
Let's ride to the wheels fall off.
Like, let's go.
Yeah, let's go.
Yeah.
I think they play the Mavs tonight, six and a half points.
I've got the Warriors to cover.
I'll piggyback you on that one.
I don't know what's the ceiling for buck.
Can they make the car?
conference finals in the West? No, no, no, no, no.
Can they get out of the plan? I think they can
battle for one series
win. They can battle. Steph gets
hot. Steph is healthy. What if you meet the
Houston Rockets? I mean, Caminga,
Pod, Steph, Butler,
Draymond, they can win a series.
A prime example. Let's say they match Houston.
So Houston's young, but can't
shoot. Like, if I'm Houston,
I don't want to face the Warriors. I got Steph,
Draymond,
Butler, it's like, oh, veteran guys.
Houston's super young.
I'd have no interest.
I think they would take care of Memphis pretty handling.
Well, Memphis is a mix of young and old.
I would say this.
Butler's a dog.
Draymond's a dog.
Steph.
It's not a bad roster.
I want to watch them play Dallas tonight.
I like what the Warriors are.
I think a lot of the teams we like in the West are really young.
And this team's got a lot of guys that have been in a lot of big games.
So I think that Warriors are, I said before they got Butler, I said, go get Butler, he makes you really interesting.
Because when Steph's off the floor pre-Jimmy Butler, they're unwatchable.
Now you've got a guy that can give you 27 depending on the night.
Jay Mackle the News.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping box.
The Hurd-Lie News.
Mark Sanchez Fox Sports, what a gift for us all year, calling NFL games.
all year on Fox.
Now, we're going to go to a break eventually
and get to the Jalen Hurts stuff.
But here, I'm thinking about this
because I knew you're going to be on today.
So, listen, this happens all the time.
You go to a game as a quarterback,
and you're like, well, protections, not ideal.
Right.
You bring in a second tight end,
you roll stuff out.
And it was very obvious by the second series,
wow, we're getting beat on the O line, man to man.
In the games in your life
where you felt your all,
line was outclassed.
Do you have a lot of options
or do you just come to terms very early?
I'm going to get hit today.
I mean, what are you thinking
emotionally as a quarterback? Because Patrick pretty
early realized this is going to be
one, two, trouble.
And he had to move quite a bit.
Even when he hit his back foot on
number one, there's guys in his lap.
There's guys affecting
his vision, his
stance in the pocket. He's getting hit all the time.
You see the pick right here to
bond, people like, wow, what a bad throat. Well, he gets hit literally when he gets rid of the ball.
And as soon as he hit his back foot, he was under duress. And you got to credit, Clint
hurt and this defensive line, their defensive line coach and those players up front. They
pushed the interior of the pocket. The ends just went off. I mean, sweat, those guys rushing
off the edge. It was incredible. And when we talk about guys rushing, rush lane integrity, not chasing
the cheese and going for the sack. The sacks happen when you rush together, when you keep your
rush lanes, you know, true. And they were in lockstep together up front. And you could say that
about them this last, really half of the season. And, you know, when you have, Tune is an all-pro
left guard. He's not a tackle. Right. That's, you know, he won two championships with the Patriots.
He's won two Super Bowls with the cheat. Like, he's an excellent player, but he's out of position.
That's a really tough job, especially when those two big guys, Davis and Carter,
are getting pressure on the interior where they're normally solid.
So he doesn't have anywhere to step up to.
They're coming over the walls on the edge.
I mean, it's a lose-lose and very uncharacteristic of the Chiefs.
They, you know, their first three third downs before it got to third and nine plus for the rest of the game,
their first three third downs were third and three, I believe.
Incomplete, incomplete interception.
Whoa.
What sequence is that?
That doesn't equate to the chiefs.
So, yeah, they had a rough night.
It was a really rough night for them.
But credit to the Eagles because they exploited them.
Yeah.
When you watch the game, I'd said this,
is that Philadelphia is a very aggressive franchise.
And I'd said, I think I'd said this with you.
They do things that often bad franchises do.
They replace winning coaches.
They move off good quarterbacks, but it works for them.
And Siriani, his methodology for a lot of towns, you'd be like, dude, you're yelling with the fans.
Philadelphia is a very unique.
The really important players like Sequin and Jalen Hertz, they're mature, they're understated.
We talked about this last time.
It's a fascinating organization that you have a unique insight to.
it is a combustible, intense, loud,
and as I watch them,
I wonder if teams around the league
watch them and think, we're not aggressive enough.
Sure.
Well, you got to credit Harry Roseman
and some of these draft picks,
the guys that have fallen in the draft
and landed in their lap,
whether it's Nikoby Dean or Carter or whatever,
for whatever reasons,
they end up on this team.
And Howie Roseman isn't afraid to go sign A.J. Brown.
He wasn't afraid to go sign Alshan Jeffries.
Sometimes I'm like, how does he even get the, how do they come available?
Right, right, right.
Who's taking that phone call?
But Howard Roseman, I mean, that guy's working his tail off.
And it's, you know, every other year, they have one of the best rosters in the league.
And it's been impressive.
But you look at the coordinators, he's hired, you know.
They've hit, they've missed, but they go right back at it.
But they get right back at it.
And they keep the same core nucleus of guys with a couple of veterans,
whether it's a Brandon Graham, Darius Slay on defense,
that kind of keep the emotions in check.
They're your locker room leaders.
And when you talked about this being like a combustible kind of environment,
like it matches the identity of the city.
It completely matches where they play, their fan base.
It's very filly, and it's exciting to watch.
Just think about the two coordinators who got this team going, right?
They're two and two to start the year.
Right?
And you know, you see the videos after the game of Philadelphia just like exploding.
There's fires everywhere and people going nuts.
Well, it was ready to be like that during their by week, week five.
People were ready to fire everybody.
They couldn't score in the first quarter.
Siriani sucks.
You know, how he can't put a team together.
It's like, dude, you guys have just been in the Super Bowl.
Like, relax.
Okay, we're going to be fine.
Yeah.
Well, they change up some stuff on defense.
They played a lot more single high.
they insert Cooper DeGine.
They have two rookies playing in the secondary.
Quinion Mitchell is not supposed to start the year,
starts the year because Bradbury gets hurt.
That's right.
And they get incredible production
from two rookies in the secondary.
So that in itself tells me
Vic Fangio's got these guys dialed.
And he coached them hard.
But look at their last two games,
the most important games of their season.
The championship game and the Super Bowl.
The defense generated seven turnovers.
The offense scored nice.
95 points.
You can't beat that.
You cannot beat that.
You talk about running into a buzzsaw,
and you talk about everybody says,
oh, complimentary football, complimentary football.
That is complimentary football.
Jalen Hurts threw a really bad interception in the game.
Mahomes did it last year against San Francisco.
The defense got his back.
The defense just erased it.
And that is complimentary football.
Give the ball back to the offense,
and God forbid the offense gives it away,
we got your back.
Let's not make a habit of it,
but we got your back.
And it was impressive.
Yeah.
Let me ask you.
Travis Kelsey, he had a bite earlier.
We played on the show on his podcast where he's like, listen, man, I've been playing three extra games for several years.
And like LeBron, LeBron's played three years in the playoffs, his playoff games equal a season of playing.
That's right.
It's insane.
Those are intense things.
There's a lot of wear and there.
And so I look at Travis Kelsey and you play a position where you're blocking often the best athlete in the other team.
all these three games, three games, three games.
When, and forget the production part,
when did you know physically and emotionally for you?
Man, I don't want to go to camp.
And I asked that respectfully because, first of all, season ends,
give yourself three weeks off to be with whoever.
But was there an epiphany for you driving around something and thinking,
I don't want to do this anymore?
Well, the last couple of years, you know,
you have this epiphany when you realize the warm up and cool,
down for practice almost takes longer than practice.
You know, the warm up takes longer than the workout.
You're like, dang, okay, well, let's see how many more we can squeeze out of this thing.
And, you know, like Draymond Green said, you got to ride it until the wheels fall off because
at some point you're going to be older and wishing he can still play.
So I think he's still got another year in him.
I think they'll take a little bit off of his plate, especially when it comes to blocking.
I think they need a true blocking tight end because him and Noah Gray are similar skill set.
Yeah.
So I think that would help him.
But, I mean, Kansas City's not going anywhere.
You got 15 at quarterback.
He laid an egg in one Super Bowl.
Okay, fine.
Like, I'm fine with that.
Like, whatever.
You know, LeBron's lost six championships or something.
Like, we're okay.
They're going to be just fine.
They'll retool.
I think Kelsey's got one more season in them.
The NFL now, we have another game.
They're probably at another game.
There's much more international travel.
Off seasons for us, it's free agency, it's the draft.
You start looking at Philadelphia's roster, Kansas City, there's some great older players.
What does an offseason look like?
Win or lose this game?
Is it different when you, I mean, you tell me, what is an offseason for Patrick Mahomes
look like?
How long do you shut it down?
Yeah, I think you're never like completely shut down, but like you're going for a bike ride,
you're swimming, you're doing some other stuff just to stay.
active, but I don't think he's just going to take like two months off. He can't totally do that.
He's probably not going to start throwing right away. But, you know, he's going to take a little time,
let the emotions settle down, get to the truth of the game. Where was I good? Where was I bad? What
reads did I miss? How was my footwork? You know, grade yourself, tell the truth. And then move on and go
play again. And he's going to be, once
again, he's going to be just fine. These chiefs are
going to be just fine. They ran
into an incredible team
that was playing really well,
has superstars all over the place,
and the guys that needed to fill in
some holes for him. I mean,
you lose the Kobe Dean and Orrin Berks
comes in and generates
turnovers for your offense, like for your defense,
gives the ball back to the offense. I mean,
the two rookies who had to step in and play,
Avanti Maddox doesn't play as much.
Then when he does get in later in the year,
in the Super Bowl, he bats away a crucial third down.
I mean, that's a guy who could have easily tanked, right?
Cooper DeGine took his spot after the byweek, early in the year, and doesn't play as much.
I mean, he could have packed it in.
But that's a testament to their locker room, to Harry Roseman, to the head coach, to all the guys, getting these guys ready to play, keeping them a part of it.
And, you know, that's how you build a championship roster.
You could tell they were together.
And once again, Chief Slate and Egg, they'll be back.
All right.
We're going to come back.
You have some film, some tape on Jalen Hertz.
He's an eraser.
He's an eraser.
He just does stuff different than other quarterbacks.
He can get away with the lie.
It's pretty fun to watch.
We'll show that and talk about that next in the herd.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific.
Hey, it's Steve Kavino.
And I'm Rich Davis.
And together we're Kavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio.
You can catch us weekdays from 5 to 7 p.m. Eastern,
2 to 4 Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and, of course, the Iheart Radio app.
Why should you listen to Kavino and Rich?
We talk about everything, life, sports, relationships, what's going on in the world?
We have a lot of fun talking about the stories behind the stories in the world of sports and pop culture.
Stories that, well, other shows don't seem to have the time to discuss.
And the fact that we've been friends for the last 20 years and still work together, I mean, that says something, right?
So check us out.
We like to get you involved too.
Take your phone calls, chop it up as they say.
I'd say the most interactive show on Fox Sports Radio.
Maybe the most interactive show on planet Earth.
Be sure to check out Covino & Rich live on Fox Sports Radio

Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to a...
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide.
range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name,
Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
We were thinking I'm originally calling it
one of the early names of our band
before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say,
Hey Jonas, and then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential
title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Dave.
and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band
with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending, opinions are flying,
and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo.
Every episode, we're cutting the.
through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines.
We go straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions,
the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make
the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls,
we break it down, give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered.
Sports slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them.

Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect.
We were God's chosen kingdom on earth.
He felt destined for greatness.
So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back.
Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president.
of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've
ever come across. When Jacob met Levin this went to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings
from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation
in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan,
you're ruining my life.

So many of the things Mark Sanchez talks about, we can't talk about yet on the air.
That's a bummer.
But you know what?
It fortifies us to pursue what he's talking about and make calls.
You're like the whisperer.
You're the personnel whisperer.
And we just have to do it from there.
Okay.
So Jalen Hertz, you know, Greg Hosell came on.
earlier and he said, you know, one of the things
they ask him to do and he does really well
is that sideline route. Like, not all
quarterbacks can make all throws, but some
quarterbacks have throws they're brilliant at.
The go ball? Yeah. I mean, he's just
beautiful at it. So let's go to
the film room. Yeah, I thought he
did such an excellent job and really this
is credit to Killen Moore. I mean, the Saints
fans, that fan base should be excited about
what they're getting in him as a head coach.
But he cut the field in half
for Jalen Hertz and let him
just kind of pick aside. Why?
to make it easier on the quarterback and to eliminate a lot of the trash from that defense.
You get a ton of exotic looks when you play Steve Spagnola.
So he wants him to just be dialed in on a two or three-man concept and keep his eyes there.
And when it wasn't that, when it was essentially a full-field read,
we talked about a sprinkler going across the grass, right?
He just could start on one side and let everything else come to his vision.
So there's like a two-man combination and everything else is chasing that two-man combination.
And it's a pure progression type idea.
And when you play exotic defenses,
you're not going to know exactly where they're at
until the ball snapped.
And you don't want to be racing looking,
oh, do I pick this side or that side?
No, we're going to start on this side.
Everything else is going to come into your vision.
And then, oh, by the way, this guy can make up for a lot with his legs.
Remember, his best throw is the go ball.
The other best thing he does is run with the football.
He's their leading rusher for a reason.
So when you watch this third down, it makes a ton of sense.
but he's going to recognize it's man to man.
McDuffie's going to travel with Devonte Smith.
And when McDuffie was playing either A.J. Brown one-on-one,
they took some shots up the field.
And they took their chances in A.J. Brown won.
Well, when they didn't have him on A.J. Brown, they would bracket him.
And make sure he's not going to beat him.
We got to take away Sequin, and we've got to find a way to double or, you know,
get enough pressure so he can't throw it to A.J. Brown.
So this time they double them.
And then they're going to go one-on-one with the back.
Bolton, a lot of times would cover the back and keep him in the particular.
so he doesn't leak out and give Hertz easy completions. So these two-man combos I was talking about,
you cut the field in half, start on the right side, high angle corner and that out route to Goddard.
It's going to be man-to-man. He saw the motion, so he knows this is going to take a little longer.
He gets to the top of his drop, and you're going to see, there goes the shallow, chasing the two-man
combination, so that's going to come right into his vision. He can keep his eyes to the right.
but he has such good feel in the pocket,
knowing when it's man to man that if he sees a rush lane,
this dude is gone and he gets to top speed fast.
He's already looking away from Goddard before this ball,
before he breaks on his route.
Manning, Brady, Breeze, Gough, Stafford, all these guys.
That ball goes to Goddard.
It's a tight window throw.
The ball goes to Goddard.
Jalen Hertz, he kills you on a third and five and scrambles for 19.
I mean, those were some of his biggest plays in the game as he just erased those third downs with his leg.
Yeah, and the defense is like, we're in position.
We're forcing him to make tight window throws.
And this guy just tucks the ball and takes off for 19 on a third and five.
I mean, get out of here.
Like, I wish I could do that.
Right.
I wish I could do that.
Quarterbacks pray for that ability.
And this guy has it in spades.
And so I think that's where he really elevated his game all year long.
and I think Kellen Moore had him in such a good headspace.
Nussmeyer had him in such a good frame of mind to get through those progressions.
And whenever you want, if you feel that crease, you feel that lane, dude, do what you do.
Go take off.
And, I mean, he really mastered it in that game.
It was pretty fun to watch.
It's interesting.
So when he had Shane Steichen, he was an MVP, then they went to a coordinator, not as good.
He goes back to Kellyn Moore.
I feel like Kellyn's really cleaned him up.
Now, that's not a knock on Stuyken,
but all young quarterbacks, you know, this is a fast game.
What's great to me about Jalen is you get almost no mistakes anymore.
You're right.
One key interception and the defense erased it.
And it was kind of a...
Well, they got pressure on them.
They had a couple free runners on him early,
and he got rid of the ball.
That one, he got fooled a little bit on the look.
At least it was a home run ball.
And just launched it.
But the defense got on the ball right back.
It almost worked out like a punt.
they should have got three points out of it, right?
But, you know, once again, the complimentary football stuff,
letting him just track his guy across the field,
throw the one-on-one go balls up the field.
Like, that's what he does well.
Let's get him to do that.
We know they're going to try and take away our fastball in Saquan Barclay.
And they did.
They're like one of the only teams to slow him down.
So he was really essentially a non-factor in the run game,
but then you got to count for the quarterback run.
And that's where, you know, they went to the change up the curveball.
They have some other pitches there.
And credit to the Eagles attack, man.
That was incredible.
When you go back to your playoff runs, you're in New York, even though you may not win a Super Bowl, you're beating Manning, you're beating Brady, you're a young quarterback.
It can be very distracting.
Like Jalen Hertz is going to get commercials.
He's a good-looking guy.
Like, go back to your early.
career. You're in New York. You're beating Brady and Foxborough. It may not be a Super Bowl, but man,
the world gets big fast. Yeah, I mean, seriously, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's,
another hurdle this, you know, he was, he, they had this revenge kind of, you know, rematch,
kind of chip on their shoulder and people counted us out early. Now you're the favorite. And it's,
you know, overcoming adversity and now it's dealing with success. And the chiefs have shown a
blueprint on kind of how to do that. But for him, now it's, now it's kind of expected. Hey,
this is who you are. You've proven on the biggest stage that you're going to play efficient football,
you know, you're going to use your legs.
You're going to beat these defenses and make great decisions.
Well, okay, this is now your new normal.
The bar has been raised.
Let's keep seeing it.
And, you know, it's going to be a great challenge for him,
but he's got a heck of a team coming back.
They've got to figure out the O.C.
But, you know, his entire group, his manager, all women.
That's true.
That's true.
Fascinating.
He's got to, you know, his parents are both educators.
I think dad was a football coach.
this is a guy
this really jumps out to me
how secure
he isn't himself
he could be so bitter
yeah
he could you could
I mean he got sat during a national
championship game
a lot of doubters
second round guy
second round pick yep
I mean the offense this year
you got you got
AJ Brown reading on the sideline
hey the offense runs through Seqwondo
It's noisy it's noisy
he's a very secure kid to me
He's just so
I like why
watching his press conferences because he almost speaks in like, I don't know if you've ever seen
the Avengers, but he speaks in like Thanos quotes. Like he speaks in these, you know, he gives
like great cliches and, you know, like, and he's, and he's well spoken, you know,
um, you know, he's a real adult. He seems very mature and, um, it's, it's fun a lot. I mean,
when you can move the ball like that and go to your, you know, off speed pitch when they take
away your fastball, that's, that's not easy to do, especially against that team, especially against
on the biggest days in the world.
Let me ask you,
there's Stafford rumors.
I mean, there's a lot of rumors.
Now, let's be honest, we've had in the last
four or five years. Russell moved,
Kirk Cousins moved, Stafford moved.
This is becoming the league.
Like there's big swings.
So let's say you're Aaron Rogers. You have a very good career.
You win a ring MVP. You go to New York,
little choppy. And then you're sitting
yourself, played pretty well.
Aaron played pretty darn well.
Almost 4,000 yards, 28 touchdowns, 11.
picks. I thought his last eight weeks
he was excellent. There's 25 teams in the league
that would sign up for those numbers right now.
I'm not asking you to get in his head, but
you got the money, you have the ring,
you've got the plot it, you've got all that stuff.
When you get to the end,
what stuff matters? Well, it's got to be
the right fit. I think for it. I think
it's totally fit. It's
got to match. The puzzle
piece has to match. And
somebody's going to take a flyer
on him. Somebody's, you know, even if it's
after somebody gets hurt in August or something like that.
You know Chip Kelly?
I don't.
Does that fit?
I don't know.
With Pete and Chip, that's a good question.
Why not?
Now, that one's interesting.
See, that one doesn't, that makes a lot of sense to me.
So you think the fit, the schematic fit works in San Francisco?
Oh, absolutely.
I think so.
And they have the structure, right?
This isn't like a rebuild and a new offensive coordinator.
Somebody who's never done.
I mean, this guy's called.
thousands and thousands of plays in the biggest moments.
They have weapons.
But I mean, that's assuming we're moving off of Brock Purdy.
So I don't know.
Yeah, no, I'm saying if Purdy's agents had 60 million,
it's like, okay, we're going to go with Aaron.
Sure.
But when you say fit, that's an interesting word.
Do you mean schematic fit?
I think schematic fit.
I think environment fit.
I think supporting cast has to play a huge factor.
It can't all be on the quarterback.
somebody with a run game would really help him out.
And they got to want him as well, right?
It's got to fit both ways.
It's a two-way street.
And so I think that's going to be a hurdle for some of these teams,
figuring out, is this the direction we're going to go?
Because just like the Jets did two years ago,
if you bring in a guy like that, we're all in.
And the expectations increase exponentially.
So that's what I mean by fit.
Yeah, I mean, you know, it's interesting.
as Aaron's aged, he's a little less mobile,
I could argue that's better in the Shanahan offense.
Oh, no doubt.
I mean, he doesn't want the scrambling.
Yeah, like just execute the play.
Yes.
And when we're in trouble, throw the ball away, fall down, you know,
take the sack, whatever.
But this is what we're going to do,
and we're going to execute it at a higher level
over a longer period of time and where teams down.
And that's generally their formula when it's working.
It's tough to deal with.
You've got players moving all over.
the place. So satellite players that use
check and Kittal and all these guys.
I mean, a great tight end like that. Kittle?
I mean, Kittle and Roger, holy smokes.
I know. A heck of a... But we're also
saying that they're going to move off Brock.
And I don't know if I...
Yeah. I agree with that.
Well, you're the one that floated Aaron.
And I do think, Aaron,
high IQ, knows
the league. He's not going to move out of plays.
Humbolded probably a little bit.
I mean, whatever.
All right, buddy, you did a great job this year for it.
Appreciate it, man.
Now, now, he's going on vacation.
he's going into the basement, won't talk about it.
I don't have a problem.
Are you going, what do you do for the next couple months?
We got the twins on the way, baby, twin girls, so we're going to have our hands full.
But I'll be back a couple of times, you know, break down some of these college QBs and free agency stuff.
You'll do that for us?
I'll be around.
Be around.
Keep your eye on Riley Leonard.
There you go.
All right.
I'll look them up.
All right.
Well, it's the national championship game.
I know.
You'll be able to find the tape.
I know.
I'm not asking you for Dayton's backup here, Mark.
All right, everybody, thank you so much.
