week. He is on his
European vacation to
Italy. I believe he is in Tuscany
right now. Yeah, he posted a story
in Tuscany. He did. I was so
jelly. I was like, I want to be there right now.
I haven't been to Tuscany yet. I went to
Rome,
Capri,
Positano. Yeah.
Sorrento, Naples.
You are sounding
like my trip in June. Just
switch. Yeah.
I mean, if you're in Sorrento, you got to check out
Pompeii. Unbelievable. It's crazy. It was cool. I was like studying abroad in Italy while we were
learning about it and we'd go to the places we were learning about. It's really cool. And it was
just, that makes it extra cool. I love history. I love history. So it's always awesome to,
that's why I like to travel so much because we live on a big, beautiful planet. And, you know,
there's some stuff. Yeah, I want to see as much as I can while, you know, while I can. And there's,
you know, there's a lot of places in the United States. I still haven't seen that I'd like to go
check out. Where's your number one?
Well, I mean, there's a couple cities I haven't been to
that I really want to see. I haven't been to Austin yet.
So I'd like to go to Austin.
I haven't been to a lot of the places actually like
in the far northeast.
Okay. Like Maine and
Vermont. I can't say that either. I feel like I've been to Connecticut,
but if I did, I don't remember.
But I've been kind of all over the country.
Same, but I haven't been to Miami.
Yeah, you haven't been to Miami, which is insane.
How is it? How is this not?
happened yet. You know, the problem with Miami now is I live there for 10 years. So I just don't,
I don't really care about partying anymore. I'm too tired. I'm also tired now. I have no idea how
I used to go out every single night in college, except for one night. I think I would take
Wednesdays or Tuesdays off. I can't remember. I would go out every single night. I would also
have an internship five days a week plus school five days a week, plus two or three jobs.
depending on which one I had at the moment.
Yeah.
How?
I did the same thing plus soccer.
Work hard, play hard.
You learned balance.
But like where?
How?
Where did we have the energy?
I do one thing a day.
I'm like, oh, I'm exhausted.
I didn't have.
How do people have children?
How do you have children?
What do you do?
How do you have energy?
What do you do?
Super moms.
No idea.
Honestly, parents are incredible.
Yeah, super powers.
I have no energy to do anything.
And I have no children and I have no pets.
I have just responsible for myself
and I have no, I'm tired all the time.
So congrats to you guys.
You have all my respect.
I have no idea how you do it.
I've got to see some of my family this weekend,
which is exciting and my giant nephew,
which if you haven't seen him,
he's on my Instagram page.
He's gorgeous.
Yeah.
He is a model baby.
Going to be a left tackle.
He is nine months.
He is 28 pounds.
He is nine months old.
He's like a two-year-old Jordan.
He's an athlete.
Yes.
Well, well, his father was.
Yeah.
And yeah, he's amazing.
But, yeah, I's had a nice time in Miami this weekend.
Got my honorary doctorate from Barry University, which was exciting.
Thank you.
And gave a speech that I was very nervous about.
But it went well.
I'll post it soon.
Coming up in 15 minutes, NFL insider Josina Anderson will join us.
She had a very interesting report about Baker Mayfield and the Browns and the treatment that the Browns are getting from around the NFL, which I may have predicted what happened.
But we'll discuss that with Josina.
in about 15 minutes, and then later and best for last,
we play NBA title meter.
I'll tell you how confident I am in the remaining playoff teams
to win the title.
But first, the news came out this morning
that Joker, Joker, Nikola Yokic,
will become the MVP for the second straight year
and no events to him,
but I don't think he's actually the league's most valuable player.
He's absolutely deserving of the league MVP.
So everything I'm going to say is not to discredit
It's the incredible season that he had, the unbelievable level of player that he is,
and what he did to contribute to that team's success in the regular season.
That said, I always had MB as MBE as my MVP,
and the issue with the league MVP for the NBA is the same every single year.
It is truly a regular season award.
But we don't judge the value and the success on the grand scale.
of professional athletes' careers
based off of just what they do
during the regular season,
unless you're talking about a 20-year career
or someone who is on the next level of skill,
which obviously Yoko is.
But we can't put him in that other category
until he has the postseason success to match with it.
And him getting back-to-back MVP's
when you see what happens in the postseason
against the best competition,
who, by the way, are also dealing with injuries,
are also dealing with players missing.
You truly see who is on.
the next level and who is the MVP.
And that's my issue with this award every single year.
It's become really unfun to talk about because we're arguing these semantics.
We're arguing between levels of greatness that seem a bit silly.
But it also is kind of the NBA's fault.
Stop giving this award out when we're in the middle of the postseason.
It takes away all of the lust of the award.
It takes away the polish when you start to see what these teams do in the postseason.
Give it as soon as the NBA is, NBA regular season is over.
Before we start getting tainted by what happens in the postseason, they always wait.
Now we know it's Yokic.
Where's Yokic?
Did we watch Yokic this weekend?
We did not.
Yes, it's a regular season award.
But here we are watching Yannis be the best player in the world.
And Joelle Embed come back and have the impact that he's had on this series.
He would have swept the Sixers without Joel M.B.
On the floor, without question, even with Hardin's performance last night.
When you're talking about back-to-back MVPs, you're in a rare air of greatness.
It should be special.
It should be sacred when you're talking about back-to-back MVPs.
And you'll notice the name on here that everyone always brings up when you talk about
back-to-back MVPs.
Bill Russell, Wilts Chamberlain, Kareem, Moses Malone, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan,
Tim Duncan, LeBron James, Steph Curry, Janice, Nicola Yoakich, and of course, Steve Nash.
Now, Steve Nash has been argued that he shouldn't have been back-to-back MVP forever.
And I'm not saying that Yokic is going to end his career in that space, but it does kind of feel like, all right, it's great during the regular season.
I know everyone's going to argue about the injuries, and that's fair.
And they wouldn't have been there without Yokic, and that's fair.
But, man, I mean, you're looking at the Sixers, who are a good team up against the Miami Heat without Juel Embed.
And it's not close.
And you've got hardened out there.
So I just, I really struggle to, uh, to feel super excited about this MVP.
It is obviously still an incredible award and an incredible accomplishment to win a
league MVP, to win back to back MVP's next level.
But it's like, I can't not, I can't unsee what I'm watching with YvalNB.
I can't unsee what I'm watching with Yonis.
Give it as soon as the league season, the regular season is over and maybe I'll feel differently
about it. But you drag it out through the postseason and you really just start to see
greatness separate. And I get it, it's a team game, but this is an individual award. And when
you see the impact that Janus is having without Chris Middleton and Joelle Embed is having
when he's out up against a team like the Miami Heat, it's really, really hard for me to sit here
and say that I wasn't completely right about Joelle M.V. this whole time. Anyway, speaking of
Philly. They won 116, 108 last night. I'm going to get to my heat in a second, but James Hardin
had a vintage James Hardin game. He had anything he wanted 31 points, 6-3s, and obviously the MVP
Jwell and B'd out of 24 points and 11 rebounds. But it was just a recipe for a disaster for the
heat last night, and you really saw what Hardin is still capable of in that performance.
Here's what gives me pause, while we're all going crazy about James Hardin. And listen,
From the jump, I said that the Sixers won this trade.
I thought that Hardin was going to be an immediate contributor to this team,
that he was going to be of huge value.
And while he has struggled throughout this series and did not last night,
the heat couldn't possibly shoot worse than they did, 20% from three.
You live by the three, you die by the three.
And you're looking at what James Hardin was able to do.
That's vintage James Hardin.
That's just what it is.
But is he able to put this together for an entire series?
is the question. And that is why when you look at his numbers, this series, it's pretty obvious.
One, he obviously plays better when Jobele Embed is on the floor. And two, he is doing better when he's
not in Miami, which is going to hopefully be the saving grace for the Miami Heat that if this game
goes seven, they do have home court advantage. But getting to the Miami Heat really quickly,
if you're going to shoot that terribly from three, I'm going to need Spolstra to make an adjustment or two.
Everyone's talking about Duncan Robinson this morning, which I think is completely fair.
I am aware that he is a defensive liability, but if you're going to pay a three-point specialist,
five years, $90 million when you're shooting 20% from three, I don't know, maybe just try it,
change it up, give it a whirl.
No one's going to freak out.
In fact, they are freaking out.
Twitter is going insane last night that Duncan couldn't get a minute in that game last night.
I get it, but you squandered a 40-point performance by Jimmy Butler, a certified star, by the way,
two-way player.
I'm not going to question
Spos greatness, of course,
but maybe make some adjustments.
I'm looking forward to seeing how
James Harden maintains this level of play
throughout the rest of the series, but that was a huge
game for him last night, and it was awesome
to see the passion in James Harden again.
I mean, he was really electric.
He really had a lot of soul in his performance
last night, and this is why I've liked Philly all along,
because I think obviously Joelle Embed is the MVP,
but James Harden, when he plays up to the level that
we know James Harden can.
He's impossible to guard, even if he isn't as fast as he used to be.
But that series just got very interesting.
But it's still a seven-game series in the heat of home court advantage.
So I'm not going to panic just yet.
Let's feel like Sixers have the momentum, but we are right.
I'm going to have faith in my NBA championship pick of the Miami Heat.
we'll talk to justina Anderson in just a little bit joy Taylor and
Alex Curry in for Colin Cowherd this week
and she had an interesting report a few days ago she said
I spoke to a team source that expressed interest in Baker Mayfield
had talks but they cooled not wanting to pay
the asking price feeling he has to be cut
their follow-up comment tonight
no one's trying to do the Browns any favors
in this situation
I thought that was a very interesting
report for multiple reasons.
I think that the Browns think they are smarter than the rest of the league.
They should have traded Baker before they ever brought into Sean Watson.
The moment that you brought in to Sean Watson and you paid him $230 million guaranteed,
it's more than writing on the wall that you're done with Baker Mayfield.
You've given up all of your leverage.
Now, obviously, Baker Mayfield just had surgery, but he was injured last year.
The league knows what Baker Mayfield is.
If somebody wants to go in with Baker Mayfield,
you were not going to get a high asking price,
but you would probably get more than you will now
when everyone knows that you have your quarterback
and you're not going to keep Baker Mayfield on the roster.
Why would you give the Browns anything?
Why would you give them a crumb for Baker Mayfield?
You've paid Deshawn Watson $230 million.
You can't keep Baker Mayfield in the building.
You lost all leverage.
Smoke, poof, gone.
Showed their hand.
Show their hand.
There's no hand.
The hand is gone.
The hands are gone.
That's it.
You brought in to Sean Watson.
He is the quarterback now.
Baker Mayfield is not going to be there.
It's like they're bad magicians.
Showing your hand.
Yes.
They're bad magicians.
They're like dropping the cards and stuff.
This is what I'm going to do.
Yeah.
Are you ready?
Watch really closely.
We see how this works.
Goodbye.
It's awkward and painful.
But more than that, more than that, more than no one giving up anything for Baker
Mayfield, which they should.
should not because it's bad business.
You also have Jimmy Garoppolo on the market.
Who is better than Baker Mayfield?
And whatever, you know, Baker Mayfield fanboys are out there.
Jimmy Garoppel is better than Baker Mayfield.
Like, if you look at the evidence of his career success, he is better.
You can talk about the team that Jimmy Garoppolo was on all you want.
Baker Mayfield had an incredible roster.
Did not go to a Super Bowl.
So, yeah, okay, I don't want to hear it.
It's not like Baker hasn't had help.
Jimmy Garoppel is better.
Has he had more injuries?
Yes.
But they're both injury-prone players at this point
who just came off surgery.
One is a huge pain to deal with,
bad with the media,
has not elevated a team,
past one playoff win,
and one is the opposite of that in Jimmy Garoppolo.
So Jimmy Garoppolo is going to get traded for first.
So you have that work against you.
No one's going to give you a crumb for Baker-Mayfield
because you've already brought into Sean Watson.
Jimmy Garapolo is a better option
if you're in this desperate quarterback conundrum,
which will happen to some team eventually
in the preseason or at some point this season.
And by the way, there's no guarantee that they won't just go to their backup
and ride it out until next year if that happens.
It's kind of a desperate situation for different reasons that San Francisco and the Browns are in.
So there's multiple levels to that.
But I also think the other part of this is what I want to ask Justina about
is at the moment that the Browns chose to give Deshaun Watson $230 million guaranteed,
that didn't reset the market.
It destroyed the market for starting quarterbacks.
He didn't play last year.
He forced his way out and he has 22 open civil lawsuits for sexual assaults.
Everything is gone.
There is no, there is no start for negotiating.
And I think that the owners are pissed that the Browns did that,
that they gave him the first fully guaranteed contract.
Peter King mentioned in his article,
he wrote that the Brown's owners were not the most popular.
people at the league meetings.
I think it was Steve Bichotty that said that he didn't think he should have been the first
one to receive that kind of contract.
You destroy the market.
You blew it up.
If I'm a starting quarterback and I'm up for my first big contract and I'm awesome and I've
been great with the team and I also don't have 22 civil lawsuits hanging over my head,
why am I giving a team an inch?
run me all my money.
Not only am I
greats. I have elevated
teams. I haven't taken a year off.
I haven't had an ACL surgery
and I don't have 22 open lawsuits
for sexual harassment.
Yes, I'm going to need all of my money.
Thank you.
$230 million guaranteed for
Deshawn Watson completely changed
all negotiations for young quarterbacks moving forward.
Now, does anyone think that that was a good idea
for the Browns to do that other than the Browns and
Deshawn Watson? No.
but regardless, that is irrelevant because it happens.
So it's very interesting.
I want to talk to Josina about what's really happening with all this
because if you're me, you're going to have to run me every dime.
Every single dime.
Now, I don't think that all of the quarterbacks will do that,
but I do see why the league is like, nah,
we're not doing the Browns any favors.
You're not fooling us, guys.
And I think it's the same old Browns that we've always seen.
So we'll talk to Justina Anderson, senior NFL insider.
about this report coming up next on The Herd and get to Alex Curry with the news.
Joy Taylor and for Colin Coward.

I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

Joy Taylor and Alex Curry in for Colin Cowherd all week as he is on vacation.
Appreciate you hanging out with us today.
Let's go out to Justina Anderson, Senior NFL Insider USA Today, NFL Insider for CBS Sports,
and host of the crew and Undefined with Justina Anderson.
Jacina, very happy to talk to you today.
I was in Miami this weekend, and I saw your report.
I didn't spend a whole lot of time on social media,
but I did see your report.
I thought it was very, very juicy.
So I've been dying to talk to you all weekend about this.
But thanks for coming on with us today.
Well, first of all, I know you're trying to get to the news and all that.
We're going to do that.
But first, I want to just highlight the fact that it's ladies night on Colin Coward's show with you and Alex.
So we're hyping that up.
And you got your honorary doctorate.
So we are going to raise the roof on that.
So congratulations, Dr. Joy.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I'll raise the roof.
Yeah, you're raising the roof, Lauren, the steel is not the roof, whatever it is.
I feel very, very humble about it.
I don't like to brag up myself like that.
But thank you, Justin.
I really appreciate it.
Go ahead.
Dr. Joy, please.
Okay, well, you do an amazing job covering the league as you have for a very long time.
And I'm fascinated by this report, mostly because, one, I feel like I saw this trend coming with Baker,
but also the other side of it, this is a twofold story because of how the league is treating the Browns now because of the Deshawn Watson situation.
So let's start with the Deshawn Watson side of it.
is the rest of the league sending a message to the Browns
with this Baker Mayfield situation
from what you're hearing?
I don't know so much that it's sending the Browns a message
as it is somewhat of a collective perception
of what these teams feel like the Brown's leverage is
because of the presence of Deshawn Watson
and Jacoby Brissette on their roster
and knowing that eventually the I
idea is for Baker not to be there. Now, I have my own opinions, and I've been talking about this a lot
on Twitter, about the concept of leverage, because you can talk about leverage as static,
meaning what it is right now relative to the circumstances right now. But as we all know,
leverage is a fluid concept. It changes. And what I reported back when they had the owners meetings
in West Palm Beach, Florida, is that my understanding is,
that the Browns, first of all, they didn't just think about this last night.
They have been conceiving this for a while.
And my opinion is that Andrew Berry is not a fool.
So he's thought through all of these scenarios.
And that includes budgeting for the probability that Baker Mayfield may have to be on the roster for a while
if they couldn't get the trades taken care of.
And the other thing I just wanted to mention real quick,
and we can go into this, is that a lot of people have been talking
about this has to do with money.
They didn't get it done. The Panthers didn't get it done or what have you.
And the Seahawks, he's not there yet or not coming or what have you because of money.
And mechanically, that is true.
But I feel that this is more of a philosophical thing, an egotistical thing.
And the reason why I say that is because Baker Mayfield is getting his 18.858 regardless.
That option is fully guaranteed for injury cap and skill.
And that started with his class.
he's getting his money regardless.
But the point that I'm trying to make as to why I don't really think about this as money,
so to speak,
is because 18 million guys,
relative to what the quarterback market is now,
with guys making upward of 45 million,
including Deshaun Watson,
is not a lot of money.
So even with the Panthers,
with Sam Donald also making that 18.85,
and you bring it on Mac Corral,
which is going to get a third round compensation a lot,
which is not a lot of money.
Even if the Browns were to take on 50% of that, listen to this,
nine plus 18 is still what, 27?
That's not a lot of money.
That's basically what the 49ers are paying Jimmy Garapolo.
This is about what people feel like the Browns should be doing
or their own personal philosophies relative to what they think the situation is with the Browns,
but I do not agree.
Right.
So I agree as far as the leverage thing,
because that's why I feel.
like it didn't happen. So obviously the Deshawn
Watson thing sort of came
together pretty quickly because we know there were
other suitors on the market and then
the Browns came with the money and obviously
he was going to go where he's getting
$230 million guaranteed, which is
completely understandable. So you didn't trade
Baker Mayfield who had
an injury and if Deshaun had chosen not
to come to the Browns then you
would have run in another year with Baker Mayfield
being that you are paying him that $18
million guaranteed. So I'm with you.
I think the league is saying you have
no leverage. You have a quarterback and Deshaun Watson that you're paying guaranteed money. You have
Jacoby Percette. We know that you don't want to keep Baker Mayfield on the roster, even if you
have budgeted the money. So why would we give you a crumb for Baker Mayfield? Because you may not
want to, and we know that they don't want to, but we know that they can. First and foremost,
one of the things I feel like people are not necessarily getting into is we don't know what's
happening with Deshawn Watson, relative to his status.
for the upcoming 2022 season because of the situation that you guys mentioned in the previous segment
with his civil litigation that is ongoing, right?
We know that from a criminal standpoint, that's over.
But even at the owners meetings in West Palm Beach, the commissioner reminded us,
not that we needed it, that you do not have to be charged,
just like Ben Rothersberger wasn't, just like Ezekiel Ellis.
was not and who got four and six games suspended for those situations when it was just involving
one female. You don't have to be charged to be suspended. So we don't know how many games Deshaun
Watson is going to be available for or not. And oh, by the way, when he did do that five-year,
$230 million contract, that $46 million average that he has was already converted to signing bonus.
So now you got just that one million that he's going to be, what is it, $1,30,000.
that he's going to be paid for this year.
So Andrew has massaged the money to make this situation,
you know,
potentially in terms of having Baker Mayfield on the roster if need be.
So they may not want to,
and we know that they don't want to,
but they can.
And that's more important.
That's the operative word is that they can.
And so when team is easy,
and I was just talking to a source relative to the panther situation.
And we can get into what I was hearing,
you know,
Carolina situation earlier today. But my point is, is that it's easy to sit back now and be like,
oh, you know, we don't need to do this. We don't prefer to do this, whatever, because we're not
close to games. But once we start getting into the preseason, the regular season, and fans
start hollering and your four games deep into a regular season staring at one in three or one
and two, or we're just reminded of what your actual quarterback depth is, and your feelings might change.
Or even worse, something happened to your starter or your backup. Leverage is fluid.
Oh, no, that part I totally agree with.
That's why I think that, well, San Francisco's situation is a little bit different because I think there are still some questions about Trey Lance.
But they both are in situations where it's known that they want to move on from Jimmy Garoppolo and Baker Mayfield.
But why do it now?
There's no point.
You have all the leverage to just wait.
You can say you're going to run with the quarterbacks that you have in Seattle or Carolina.
When you get into it, you're absolutely right.
Then things change or there, you know, there's an injury, which we all know.
there's going to be an injury.
It just depends on how deep that particular team that has the injury is at
quarterback and how bad the injury is because that's just how the league goes.
So I'm with you.
The leverage in the situation is quite fluid.
And Joy, there's no rush to do it right now.
We want it done now because, you know, we want headlines.
And I say we are talking about the media, what have you.
But there's literally no rush.
And just, you know, I was talking to a league source about the Carolina situation.
And I was told this morning the door is not all the way closed, you know,
but they're not pressed.
And so, and I said, just like I said to you, okay, well, it's, you know, it's easy for folks not to be pressed now,
but that situation can change.
And Baker Mayfield is a former number one overall pick.
I see James Bradbury got, you know, cut just now before we came on.
That cannot happen, you know, with Baker Mayfield.
I feel that Andrew has to get compensation relative to Baker Mayfield's pedigree.
See, that's the thing that I don't know is going to happen.
I think it will be a team that's desperate, and maybe that's why they'll get something for him.
But when you look at the scale of Baker Mayfield's career, he hasn't had that much success.
And he's not shown the ability to elevate a team that is struggling.
He's only shown the ability to have success in a near perfect situation.
And that success was one playoff win.
So it's not like we're talking about somebody who's been a number one overall pick and had massive incredible success.
He's made the Browns relevant.
Yes, deserves credit for that.
and has elevated them to a point.
Tell us how you feel, Joy.
I mean, I just say it all the time.
I'm out of Baker Mayfield.
I completely bought into it and thought that the culture was shifting around in Cleveland.
And I think now that I've taken a step back and look at the success over the last four years,
nothing has really changed.
They've won one playoff game, which is fine.
But like, is that what we're aiming for?
I do think that they have more standards now, which is why they made the big swing for Deshawn Watson.
but when you're looking at Baker Mayfield's career,
he has not elevated a team that has struggled.
He has not been able to thrive in situations that were dysfunctional,
which may not be his fault.
It's hard for anyone to do that,
but you can't speak about him in the air of someone like a Joe Burrow
who went into a Cincinnati, which we did not consider to be a contender,
and took them to the Super Bowl with one of the worst offensive lines in the league.
There's levels to this year.
So you can talk about a number one overall pick,
but that maybe was the Brown's reaching.
So I could see why they would want to get compensation for him,
but if I'm someone else around the league,
I'm like, why do I want someone that fights with local reporters,
can't elevate a team that's struggling,
and it's won one playoff game in his career?
And it's coming off surgery.
Okay, so that's a good question.
And all of those are great points and are excellent points.
And I do agree that there's levels to it, right?
And we do give credit for Baker-Mayfield, you know,
raising the Cleveland Browns.
I believe they were one in 31 before he got there.
Obviously, they've won more game since he's come there.
But there is an act question,
you raise as to whether, you know, is, you know, being the quarterback that takes you to that
next level. And, and certainly he's accomplished that to a degree by getting them to the playoffs in
the previous season. But, you know, but relative to, is he that next guy? This is what I would say
because you made the point about arguing with local reporters and whether you can raise the,
you know, raise all boats and all that other stuff. I do believe that Baker Mayfield should be given
room as we all should be given room to evolve. And trust me, there are so many things, and I've
tweeted this, I'm not saying anything I'm afraid to say. I've already tweeted this. There are things
that I obviously don't agree with that occurred this past season when O'Dell Beckham Jr.
was there. However, however, you know, I don't believe anybody should be a prisoner of the narrative
of the past. And he has room to be able to grow. I think he will.
learn from this. I think that, you know, hearing what people are saying in back channels or,
or quite frankly, excuse me here, publicly, whether you're listening to Robbie Anderson or what have
you, or you want to have a conversation about whether a lot of his teammates have been, you know,
talking on his behalf or not or what have you. I think Baker has absorbed all of that. And if it
hurts, it should. And that's okay. He's not the only one that has gone through adversity at work.
And you absorb that and you learn from it. And I do think,
that if he has to, you know, come back to the Browns,
that he would comport himself as a professional,
one, because that's what I expect,
and two, because he has to.
And I've talked to sources who feel like
he's in a situation where he has to,
and they know that.
So we'll see.
Yeah, I mean, I'm with you on the grace of it all.
Like, I don't think, I think he is still a starting quarterback in the league,
and I think he'll get another opportunity to be a starter there.
I'm not saying his career is over or anything like that.
No, you're talking about the degree.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, I think I feel like I've seen enough of him to know how good he is.
I don't think he has a next gear.
And when you look at the roster that the Browns had and Kevin Stefansky is a coach of the year,
I'm like, how much more do you need is my point?
So, of course.
And I do think he will learn from this.
I hope so.
I mean, it couldn't have gone much worse getting replaced in the fashion
that he did.
So if he does end up not playing for the Browns again.
But it's a very interesting situation.
I cannot wait to see how this situation and the Jimmy Garapolo one plays out in San Francisco.
But thank you so much for coming on with us, Josina.
Always excellent.

Well, a new NFL season is on its way, and every game will be revealed at the 2022 NFL
schedule release live this Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern on FS1 and NFL Network.
Can't wait. Win, loss, win, loss. It's my favorite game.
Win loss, win, loss. Yeah. You just go down the schedule and you circle the wins and the losses.
So maybe that's what we're doing Friday.
That's 100 minutes. That's what we're going to do on Friday. I can't wait.
I actually really love the schedule release.
It's fun. Joy Taylor and Colin,
Joy Taylor in for Colin Cowher
alongside Alex Curry. Let's get to Alex with the news.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Well, let's start with some USFL. The Birmingham Stallions
remain the only undefeated team
with a week four win over the Tampa Bay Bandits.
The stallions were missing one of their top
defensive players, but still only allowed
158 yards of total offense, the lowest of any opponent
this season. The game was tied at
10-10 in the third quarter when Brennan
Aubrey made a 49 yarder to take the lead, his longest kick of the year.
That was also the fourth longest in USFL the season.
He added another field goal with less than a minute remaining,
and the stallions got the victory, 16 to 10.
Things are looking good for everybody, Joy,
except for your Pittsburgh mallors.
Except for my family team in the mallors.
I'm wearing this team.
Mallors orange right now.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's no good.
Only win this team in the USFL.
they lost to the New Jersey Generals, 21, 13.
This third straight win for the generals who improved a three and one.
But the New Orleans breakers, again, still the story.
Kyle Sloader threw a 29-yard game-winning touchdown to Jonathan Adams with 10 seconds remaining.
A bloop.
A bloop.
A bloop.
Yeah, I saw what I call it, a blop.
Blop is not good.
No, no.
Blop sounds like flop.
It does.
Good point.
Yeah.
So it's like, hmm.
Well, more USFL action continues all weekend on Fox, Saturday at 3 Eastern,
and New Orleans breakers take on the new.
New Jersey Generals and Sunday at 4 Eastern, the Pittsburgh mallers square off against the Houston gamblers.
But let's move on because John Morant left game three versus the Warriors with a knee injury.
He will likely be out for game four tonight.
The injury seemed to happen in the fourth quarter when Jordan Pool grabbed Jaws knee.
He tweeted and then deleted broke the code following the injury.
But Poole said it was not intentional and that he was just going for the ball.
Now, this whole series, as we've been talking about all day,
it's been scrappy. It's been spicy. We've seen physical plays from Draymond Green's ejection for the hard foul on Brandon Clark, Dylan Brooks suspension, after the hard foul on Gary Payton, and now the Jordan Pool on John Moran. I might be a minority in this situation, but I don't think this one compared to the Dylan Brooks suspension.
Well, the outcome changes things, right? And the intense only matters to the person who did it.
Do we know if that is what actually caused the injury, though?
we don't but if Jaws saying it did
and then that's it because no one else knows
you're not God you can speculate on Twitter all you want
but you don't know anything you don't know about it
you do not know we have no idea
if Jaws said it did he is the one that would know it's his body
and his knee so if he started to feel weird after that happened
that's what caused the injury anyone else who has an opinion
about whether it did or did not is stupid because you don't know
how are you going to know how would you know you don't
So I agree with you.
I think in the Dylan Brooks situation was more dangerous.
More dirty.
Gary Pange knew it was in the air.
He hit him in the head.
Yes.
I agree with you that it was more of a dirty play than this.
Had to spend someone else's body, maybe he wouldn't have felt it at all.
But it doesn't matter.
Again, the intent doesn't matter.
It's the action and the consequence of that action.
I don't think that Jordan Poole's a dirty player.
I don't think Dylan Brooks is a dirty player.
I think it's an intense series.
It's got a lot of tension.
and animosity overall, if people weren't getting injured,
then, you know, I think it would be good for the league
to have this kind of rivalry and have this kind of aggressiveness.
But, you know, when you have the chart,
like here's the possible outcomes of this action.
If most of it is, someone could get hurt,
then it's a dirty play.
That doesn't make you a dirty player.
It makes it a dirty play.
Just like if you do something wrong,
it doesn't make you a bad person.
It means you did something wrong.
If you always do something wrong,
then you're a bad person.
Yeah.
So, like, there's a scale to this.
whole thing. And, you know, this is, this is what everyone asks for when they talk about,
you know, oh, everyone's AAU and everyone's besties and their selfies and it's old school was better.
This is what that is. So what do you want? So what do you want? Everyone's talking about it.
Everyone wants to watch it, but this would be a big hit if Jaws out. It's going to suck if Jaws out.
It would be out. According to Foxbet, the Warriors are a huge 10-point favorite right now after the
John Moran injury. And listen, Megan talks about it earlier. Like they have,
a deep enough team to win without job.
But it's going to be a tall task.
And it had to be against another opponent,
not the Warriors, who have been there so many times,
I would feel better about it.
But you want your stars out there.
You need your star. No one wants to see stars get hurt.
Bottom line, you want to see them out there in the playoffs.
This is what you play for.
Yes.
All right. Speaking of stars, the stars were out for the F-1 Grand Prix
this weekend in Miami.
Tom Brady was one of the many notable celebrities in attendance,
and he spent time with some other legends from the sports world.
he posted a picture of himself and joined the festivities with Michael Jordan,
David Beckham and Lewis Hamilton.
So much greatness in one photo.
Where's my picture?
Dr. Joy was at F1.
You were there for someone who hasn't been to an F1 race.
Paint the picture for us, Joy.
Okay, well, so it's a thousand degrees, first of all.
Because you were in Miami.
So it was very hot and very humid, which, look, that's, that changed.
This was an absolute scene.
did you watch this?
I mean, as somebody who does interviews or is done
right carpet interviews, that walk through
the like Celebrity Row gave me so much
anxiety. It's so crazy. But there were
yeah, there were stars everywhere. I mean, you're seeing
Farrell, Paris Hilton, Serena and Venus
were there. Michael,
Tom, Dr. Joy Taylor.
David Beckham, Joy Taylor, Wayne,
Dwayne Wade, DJ Khalid,
Patrick Mahomes was there.
There's, yeah. I mean, it was just not,
it was nonstop celebrities there,
just like that's the scene. That's what F1 is.
Yeah. And it was cool to watch.
I mean, to be honest, I was there on Saturday, so there were
a lot of celebrities there, but I was not in the celebrity
row. Yeah. I was not in that level.
We got to cross a piece. We got to get a guy
to get you in. I mean, listen, my brother was on the other side.
They had a good time.
Look, it's, it's an international
sport. It was a lot of fun.
There were so many fans there.
They did an amazing job with it. The scene was
incredible. The facilities were
all Miami, which is what I love,
about Miami. One thing about Miami, Miami going to
Miami. And they are not going to apologize for it.
It's going to be yachts. There's going to be
celebrities. There's going to be money. There's going to
be drinks. It's like they're going to do
Miami proper, whatever
Miami is. And they're not going to shy
away from it, which I love. I think that you should.
Just like Vegas does. It's Vegas.
Vegas is going to Vegas. There's no need to shy
away from what we are. So I loved
it. I thought it was really cool. It was a
first time experience for me. So it was really fun.
But you just said your brother was there and he didn't get you
on the other side? Oh, listen, Alex.
this is this is and the thing is like come over but you need tickets i was like how am i going to get over there
you connect and you have the connect well the other thing is like you know it's a track so you can't just walk
over like you have to walk to where the you know pedestrian bridges are which there weren't that
many that was my suggestion for thanks brother yeah for next time more more pedestrian bridges
but it was it was incredible they did an amazing job with it it was very impressed bucket list
uh yes well it's going to be in miami for the next 10 years and it's going to be in
Vegas next year.
Vegas is going to be something.
It's going to be on the strip.
Done.
Yes. Well, that's a much easier trip for us.
That's Alex Curry with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Heard Lye News.
All right, should we do best for last?
We have time for best for last or are we going to do,
okay, let's do best for last real quick.
We're going to do, I forget what we were called this, guys.
I'm doing a terrible job right now.
Are you ready?
Is it the playoff a meter, championship a meter, title meter?
Title meter.
You ready for your first one?
Let's go.
What is your confidence level that the 76ers can win the NBA championship?
I'm going with seven.
They are 2 and 0 since Mb has returned.
Hardin is coming off his best game, 31 points, made six three-pointers.
I do feel better about my heat still, but the sixers are looking good.
And they're coming together, as Hardin said, at the right time.
They are.
What's your confidence level that the Grizzlies can win at the NBA championship?
I hate to say it because I absolutely love Memphis, but I got to go with one.
If John Morant, I mean, if they lose tonight, it's over.
So, like, if they pull it off tonight, then this will change.
But I don't think they will win tonight.
And then that's a huge mountains of climb against the Golden State Warriors team
that has been there, done that.
What is your confidence level that the Mavericks can win the NBA championship?
All right.
So the Mavericks, I'm going with a seven.
Luca Donchitz is a bad man.
It's playing out of his mind.
Jason Kidd is on a nice job adjusting, getting the ball on some other players' hands.
Obviously, they're really good defensively.
if everyone can contribute
they are a championship team
if it's all on Luca it can't happen
you can't have one player having the ball that much
and beat a team that is complete like the Suns
or win a championship
all right what's your confidence level
that the Celtics can win the NBA championship
yeah I'm on a one
they're shooting 39% from the field
against the bucks the worst shooting team
in the second round of the playoffs
Jason Tatum is dealing with a wrist injury
I don't know who can slow down Janus
and even if they get out of this series
which I think one
won't happen. They aren't beating the sixers or the heat. So I'm at a one. What is your confidence
level that the Sons can win the NBA championship? I'm an eight. Chris Paul struggled in the last few
games. He had a ton of turnovers in game three, fouled out last night. More turnovers,
turnovers and fouls made than made buckets in the last two games. But they're still well coached,
Love Monty Williams, complete team. They just need to get it together. They're still the best team
in the league. So I'm going to give them an eight. What's your confidence level that the Warriors can win the
NBA championship. Warriors are back.
Yeah, they are. Ben there, done that.
They'll get some rest, I think, because they will win this series
early. I'm going to go with a nine for the
Warriors. What's your confidence level that the Bucks
can win the NBA championship? I'm the
highest on the Bucks. Janice is playing out of his
mind. They're doing whatever they want without Chris Middleton,
which is incredibly impressive, their second best
player. They don't have any flaws right now. They've been the best
defensive team in the postseason, holding
their opponents to under 40% shooting.
They're 5-1 in the playoffs without Chris
Middleton, which I thought was going to be a massive, massive loss.
I just, I think Janice is just showing he's the best player in the league right now,
so I feel most confident in the Bucks.
All right.
What about your Miami Heat?
Where's your confidence level that they can win the NBA Championship?
Going with an eight.
I'm going to be realistic.
All right.
Still think the heat is on.
But they, look, it's a seven-game series.
They got home court advantage.
I feel good about that.
Kyle Lowry is dealing with the hamstring.
injury. Jimmy Butler just had a 40-point game. And if they can make some adjustments and figure
out how to not shoot 20% from three, which I believe they will do, then we're still in it.
But it does kind of feel like the six just have the momentum right now. But we'll see.
James Harden is a different player in Miami. So we'll see how that goes. This was a fun show today.
Thank you so much for hanging out with us. Me and Alex will be in all week. Thanks to Antoine Walker,
Ryan Hollins, Megan Triplett, and Justina Anderson for stopping by. I am a doctor now.
Dr. Joy.
Dr. Joy, although I won't a man that you call me that.
Why?
It will be on my resume.
I mean, it depends on who we're talking about.
Do it. If it's a Twitter troll, I'm a doctor to you.
You are Dr. Joy.
Okay, it was a doctor.
Forever and always.
Yeah.
Have some respect.
Really, really fun show.
We'll be back tomorrow.
Thank you guys for hanging out with us today.
