Okay, so I had said about a month ago, I'm not going to talk about Baker Mayfield, but it's impossible because he's in the news constantly. And he's in the news now again. And so I do have a responsibility to report the news. So Mary Kay Cabot, who's an excellent reporter, has been for 20 years.

And listen, I always get that fans don't care about the media. Like, I know you watch me, but you don't go home caring about me. Like, I get it. And you buy jerseys of athletes, not of reporters and commentators. So, like, I always get that. Like, it doesn't matter. If you watch me, that's great. I know you'll owe a side with a player over me.

Like, I get it. But I would never make something up because I could, you know, that's just not who I am. And in some instances, if you work for a newspaper and you made something up, you could get fired, right? So Mary Kay Caput's very trustable. She had a story today which said, Stefansky and Baker, it was rough. It was really rough. Well, I got a source. And I was told late in a year from a source that I trust that knows this group of people

running the franchise, it's pretty rocky. Some of it is, you know, Baker tends to be sort of a, you know, this is why I said when Baker came out of college, I said, everybody saw it. I said he is a franchise quarterback, but I would take him off the board. He's too toxic. He's not quarterbackial. It's not my cup of tea. But he is a franchise quarterback.

And I still think he is when he's healthy. He's just not a great one. But his personality, listen, even in college, Gary Patterson was a great coach at TCU. He called out one dad in his career, Baker's dad, for being arrogant and blah, blah, blah. I don't know Baker's dad or his family. But when Gary Patterson calls out one parent in his career and it's Baker's dad, you know, what is it, Apple, fall far from the tree thing, Baker's got a lot of chip on his shoulder.

You know, that is what it is. I'm not going to make this personal. He's not my cup of tea. but he came out today and responded to Mary Kay's article, and I trust her because I've had her on shows and podcasts multiple times. She's been doing this for a long time and breaking a lot of stories for a long time. She doesn't make stuff up. And so he said, clickbait, you and many other Cleveland local media continue to be drama-stirring reporters with no sources or facts.

Don't put words in my mouth so you can put food on your table. I'm not your puppet. So I imagine there's a lot of Brown fans that just think this is the greatest thing in the world. They're like, all right, number six, you got. Andrew Barry doesn't like it. And Kevin Stefansky doesn't like it. It doesn't matter with Bruno in the upper deck, drinking a bud light. It doesn't matter.

The GM doesn't like it. The owner doesn't like it. The coach doesn't like it. It's all that matters. It's all that matters. You know what? It doesn't matter what the internet thinks of me. guy upstairs just gave me a big birthday present that's what matters so this is not going to play well in the front office they don't want him antagonizing people they're not happy with it it does not matter what any fan thinks or media think the dudes upstairs are over him and i was told by a source i trust who's very connected that baker now does realize he's lost some people

He's lost some people in the room. He does. I mean, he's aware of like, this thing ain't going great. The media has turned on him. Half the fans have. But this is the classic example of, it doesn't matter what I think. But it does matter what bosses think. And they don't like this stuff.

They don't like it at all. I mean, you saw the Aaron Rogers Green Bay situation. Just the front office didn't like it and the Hollywood and calling them out. But like, that's not what you want. I mean, folks, there are franchises. You know, the Patriots took Johnny Menzel off their board. They're like, we're not going to, I know that for a fact. They just took him off the board.

Like, we can't draft him. He's, whether they knew about his addiction issues, that was just too much. It was not the kind of person they wanted running the franchise. So this stuff does matter. But, but I don't control Baker. He's made a lot of money. He could retire today. I have no strong opinion other than the big guys upstairs don't love this at all.

And they're at witsend. And also, if I was Baker, this is just me, I wouldn't do this stuff because in the end, if you want a second chance to be a franchise quarterback, there's going to be a GM that goes, oh my God, do you want to deal with this nonsense all the time? Like, there's going to be somebody two or three teams in this league that are going to consider Baker Mayfield eventually. This is the stuff, because they have the film on him as a player. They know he's not big, tall, fast. They know that he has a good arm when he's healthy.

The stuff that is like, pass is this. This is the stuff GMs don't want and bosses don't want. Listen, my bosses monitor my social media. Seriously. Like, it matters. Like, this is what bosses look. My daughter just got a great. job right out of college. Why? They thought she was smart and funny on her social media.

Like, people watch this stuff. Like, it matters. So, uh, this is not good. In my opinion, this is not. And again, Bruno in the upper deck. He is got number six is back. He's, I, you're my guy. He's going to call us Cleveland radio station today. And I get it. Like, I get fans thinking this is it. But we all know in life, like, don't take your boss off. Yeah, I mean, I don't try to take too much out of social media, like, reactions, because we know Twitter is a very small sliver of reality and how, you know, the majority of the world thinks is not necessarily what's on Twitter. Yeah.

But, oh, these responses, are you guys deserve Baker Mayfield? I mean, they love it. It's like, yeah, it's my quarterback, teller. Yeah, yeah, congrats. What are you guys doing right now? By the way. I'm sorry, are the Browns in the playoffs? It would be one thing when Aaron Rogers pushes back in his franchise.

He's Aaron Rogers. Exactly. Aaron Rogers is the first battle of hall of favor. Aaron Rogers is the Super Bowl. Aaron Rogers is probably going to win back-to-back MVP. Yeah, everybody knows it work. The more talented you are, the more valuable, you can get away with more. Also, Kyrie Irving.

He can get away with some of it. He is Kyrie Irving. If he was a bench player on that vaccination stuff, he's out. So Baker's got a year left. He is 30. He is the franchise quarterback response. responding to a reporter in Cleveland with an outstanding reputation saying that she's doing clickbait to put food on her table. Yeah, this is not great.

And I also think... Are we 12? Well, it's also, it's not great for the room he's in. But it's also, at this point, if I was Baker's manager or I was Baker's agent, I would say, Baker, you're going to get a second chance to be a franchise quarterback. don't screw it up. Because Baker is going to come back healthy next year, and there's every reason to believe that he'll go back to be indecent. And then somebody will at the trade deadline next year, go and get Baker.

And it could be a good team. It could be a team like the Raiders lose Derek Carr, and they got Hunter Renfro and Darren Waller and Jacobs. And like, when you post a tweet, I always think about this. How does it play to people that can fire me? And how does it play long term? Like people live in the moment. This could literally a team with an interesting roster could just say,

raise hands if you want Baker and they're like, some guy's going to go, no, that's what he's too emotional. It's not like you're responding to some random troll on Twitter. Like you can't come for everybody. I don't have a problem with people responding to people. Like KD responds to people all the time. I don't care. Yeah, but he's also.

Say what you want to defend yourself. He's KD. But you're KD. You can do that. I've seen what you do at the highest level. You're allowed to do that. When LeBron responds to somebody, what you've accomplished should matter.

You can't come for everybody. Yeah, no, I just don't think this. I don't think it's good short term in the room for his bosses. And I don't think long term, it helps him. If I was his manager, I'd be like, Baker, do you want to get a second franchise gig? Because he is going to be good enough. He's going to be healthy next year.

This is a good roster. They do need another receiver that they need. and they'll go address that. But this is a good roster. This is a top five roster. I'll argue it all day long. It's an excellent roster. Up to the trading deadline.

What if he looks good in camp? He looks good in first six, seven games in September, October. They may move him and just say, it's perfect. Let's get it out. I keep arguing. That's what the Brooklyn Net should do. They should play Kyrie for the next 10, 12 games he can play and move him because you can't rely on him. But I'm not a manager.

I'm not his. I wish him the best. I don't want to make it personal. I just don't think my opinion is bad short term, bad long term. There's no value. The fans probably love this. He's our guy. He's tough.

Again, I don't want to react too much to what Twitter is saying. I'm sure there are fans in Cleveland. I'm not even going to. I just don't think you can come for everybody. Like if you're talking about some guy on his couch is, you know, eating his belly button lint, sure. Who cares? Like, you accomplish more than him.

from the kickoff of the new USFL. And this is going to be the third try on spring football, and it's going to work. It's very well funded. Got real coaches. Training camp begins March 21st. So we're just a little more than two months away. Everybody's going to have 38 players than seven scout team guys, 10 game schedule. So we are announcing one of the divisions.

We're announcing four of the eight coaches. Very excited. Do we have USFL music, Ryan? What do we have? Are we ready to go? Very excited for this. Here we go. All right.

The head coach of the New Jersey Generals will be Mike Riley. Mike Riley, former player under Bear Bryant in Alabama. A lot of those players became coaches, right? Stayed in the game. He coached Oregon State. I covered him. He coached them for 14 years. probably one of the smartest, nicest guys in American professional sports.

He coached the Chargers for a couple of years, NFL, CFL, college football, Nebraska as well, an offensive guy. Mike is famous for being at USC and pleading with them to recruit and offer a scholarship to Tom Brady. Riley pled with the coach. There's a kid in Northern California. He is tall and skinny. he plays catcher in baseball. He is going to be dynamite.

USC did not. He went to Michigan, and I don't know what happened to Tom professionally, but things worked out, I've been told. All right, the head coach of the Houston gamblers will be Kevin Sumlin. A three-time national college football coach of the year candidate. Before Jimbo Fisher, for years and years, Texas A&M had a bigger brand, but it felt like they were a little lost in the Texas shadow and the Oklahoma shadow. And then Kevin got there and through recruiting and quarterbacks and receivers,

kind of woke up America. I believe he was a Johnny Mansell beat Saban. And with Johnny Mansell in Tuscaloosa, Arizona, Houston. Texas A&M, he took him to six bowls. And they won three of them. So Kevin, someone, offensive guy. is a coach in the USFL. The head coach of the Tampa Bay Bandits will be Todd Haley.

A highly intense coordinator and coach, formerly, head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, another offensive-minded guy who had stops with the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Bears and the Jets and the Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator. So sometimes he and Big Ben, Big Ben's had a lot of coordinators. Sometimes he and Ben had their fights, but a very intense respected offensive coach. And the head coach of the Philadelphia Stars will be. Former college quarterback bounced around. I remember at one point he was in the Utah circuit.

He coached at BYU for a while. Also NFL Tennessee franchise. So here you go. These are the four coaches. Mike Riley, New Jersey generals, Kevin Sumlin, Houston Gamblers, Todd Haley, Tampa Bay Bandits, and offensive guy Bart Andrews, all four offensive guys. So I'm going to tell you right now, this league is not going to be six to three. This is not what's happening.

March 21st, the camps open, 38 players per roster, then seven scout team members, 10 team schedule, and they'll hold a player selection meeting in late February, about about five weeks from now. So that's where we stand right now. All right. Let's do it. Joy with the news. No. No. No. No. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. So, Kyrie made his season debut with the Nets last night.

He did. He scored 22 points in the 129-1-21 win over the Pacers. Very clever player. And Kevin Durant was happy to be back on the floor with his teammate. It was amazing to have all the year. I just missed his presence around locker with his energy. his vibe around the team. And then on top, I mean, his game is just so beautiful. You know, makes the game so much easier for everybody out there.

And it was amazing to see him out on the floor again. Crowd shut up so much love. Teammates, you know, just the game of basketball is happy to have them back. Well, I know I'm a casual, but it would make it even easier to play with him if he was available for all the games. It should be noted, but I'd be cynical then. and that would not be a casual, that would not be an appropriate problem. I don't have a problem with them bringing him back.

I know everybody kind of freaked out. Like it changed your mind. Like it was never a moral stance the reason why the Nets didn't have him out there. It wasn't a Nets rule why he's not allowed to play at home. It's a New York City mandate. Despite what everyone may think, sports are not in charge of everything that goes on in the world. And they have this rule. If you're not vaccinated, you can't go in the building.

So it made sense at the time for the Nets. and now it makes sense of the time for the Nets to have him get a bunch of minutes on the road for a team that's trying to win a championship. Now, if he's there at the end of the year and they're in the playoffs, how this works with rotations when you're talking about who's going to play at home and who's going to play away and how all that plays out. Who knows? I guess we're all going to find out together because the Nets are going to be in the postseason.

But I'm happy to see Kyrie back out there. Kyrie's a great player. He's fun to watch. If you're an NBA fan, having Kyrie back is a plus. I don't agree with his stance on everything, but that doesn't matter. and I don't have a problem with the nets bringing him back. And, you know, if KD is cool with it, that's really all that matters. It comes down to it at the end of the day because I'm sure he was solicited on his opinion about bringing him back.

And they need the minutes. So the winner of the Chargers Raiders game on Sunday night will secure their spot in the playoffs. There is a scenario where both teams could get in. If the Colts lose to the Jags, and then the Chargers and Raiders will get the final two wildcard spots if their game ends in a tie. Kind of rooting for that in a weird way. No, I'm not because I like the Colts. It would be such mayhem. It would be anarchy.

But I think out of the integrity of the game, you just play it to win it. Well, that's what Brandon Staley said on the Rich Eisen Show. That's not something he's considering. I think we all respect the game and the NFL Shield and the integrity of this game far too much to be complicit in something like that. This game matters too much to too many people. And we want to play our best and be proud of the result one way or the other. And so I know what we're going to do everything we can to go win this.

game and play the way we're capable of playing. And I hope that all the fans and everybody that loves the NFL will be proud of the game on Sunday. Now, I know Raider fans will hate this, but if you're asking me who would be a better representation in the playoffs, the Chargers are healthier, they have a full-time coach, they have deep threats. They're a better, more consistent offense. I think the Chargers scare people. Kansas City has torched the Chiefs twice. Kansas City has torched the Raiders twice. I don't think Kansas City wants, they could they should have actually lost twice to the Chargers. Chargers match up great with Kansas City.

Yeah, the Raiders don't want any problems with Kansas City. Yeah. Kansas City will, they just don't match up well. But I don't know. I can't tell what I'm rooting for in this game. I really can't because the Chargers have had some inconsistent moments and they do still have a new head coach. Their ceiling is much higher.

Yeah. But the Raiders story is a nice story. And that doesn't mean for a long playoff run. but I do think everything. I guess the reason why I would be happy for the Raiders is because I think it would give Derek Carr the credibility that he deserves. Yeah. I think that people would give him the flowers he deserves

for getting the Raiders to the postseason with the dysfunction that he has had to overcome this year. So Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are hoping to end the regular season on a high note. This is an interesting game this weekend and take some momentum into the postseason. But even with the tough loss of the Cardinals last week, Dax says the team is as confident as ever. We've got a lot of work and a lot of things invested in this. And then obviously you take the losses and everything that we've encountered during the season.

Those are all just learning experiences. And when you have the men that we have, the coaches, the group, the camaraderie, the brotherhood, the connection, you're going to have confidence. You're going to have confidence that we've got the right guy. We've got the right players to fix the problems, learn from our experiences, good or bad, and to move forward the right way. So Micah Parsons and Tyrant Smith have been placed on the COVID list. They are expected to miss the game Saturday against the Eagles, but would be back for the wild card round next week. This is in Philly, right?

This is in Philly? Yes, is that Philly? They are such a riddle. Philadelphia? They don't throw the ball downfield. They are just, this is what we do, and we're going to do it again. I think Jalen Hertz is a handful. I think he's getting better.

I think I like Philadelphia in this game. What's the line on this? The Cowboys can still get the two seed in the NFC with the win against the Eagles. Niners win over the Rams. Seahawks went over the Cardinals and the Panthers went over the buck. So there's still something they're playing for here, but obviously they've already won the division.

The Cowboys are favored by... So looking to see. Two and a half, three. Yeah. Philadelphia is no fun to play. When a team can exert its will on you physically, they just run the ball. And the other thing is, a lot of what they do, you know, they want DAC in the pocket, right? Cowboys Bay Five.

Oh, I like Philadelphia then. But what Philadelphia's offense is gear to do is a lot of off-script. We're going to move Jalen Hertz out. That's hard to defend. Jalen's like with Dallas, you know Dak's going to end up six steps back almost every snap. Now, they have the kind of personnel that's hard to match up with. But with Philadelphia, there's a lot of guessing, a lot of off-script. You can't master it.

It's like Lamar in that MVP year. Like, you could have a perfect game plan and they're just going to do stuff to put him in space against a linebacker and you're in trouble. What I also like about Philadelphia, though, is because they're able to run the ball so well, you can't afford to make any mistakes. Because if you give them the ball back in a close game, you might not get it back again because they're able to run the ball so off. I was so wrong on Philadelphia. Completely missed. Me too. They let us know.

But Kelsey, that O-line is so big. They got to be the biggest in the NFL. And they just mow you down. They really do. They push you around. They beat you up. And it's perfect for Jalen because he's learning. I don't think he's.

ready to be a dropback pastor like at this moment, but he is improving so much. He's taking care of the ball pretty well. And they just get the extra number in the run game. That's right. So because he's the math equation. Right. He's the guy that you have to worry about. So he's either handing it, keeping it, and running that triple option stuff.

And then all the tight end screens they mix into Goddert, the way they use Rager. It's like they figured out their identity and said, okay, this is our best chance to win. let's roll with this see how far we can take it and then we'll add players as we go you know what they also do some i had a coach tell me this once about lamar jackson he goes our problem is he goes we don't have a lamar jackson in practice so we can't practice for what they do that's true philadelphia like if you're if you're a team of two drop-back guys like Tampa exactly like blaine gaber and uh brady and um the kid from flor trask he's not running the read option like usually, so when we prepared at USC for Vince Young,

we put like running backs at quarterback and stuff, because I couldn't play that. I couldn't be Vince Young. I mean, I was okay. I was probably the fastest I had been, but not fast enough for that. That's right. And it's hard.

It's hard to prepare for that. You had the bills this past week, and I've said there's the, this is really in my wheelhouse. There's a Mike Tyson quality. I never thought Mike had the best jab or was in the best shape. Sure. But if you didn't come prepared and you left yourself open,

you were out. No doubt. Buffalo, almost all their winds are blowouts. They can play terrible and blow you out. I keep saying, as long as they aren't deterred by weather, because they do need to throw, they don't run it, what do you make of their chances having watched them in the playoffs? Do they make too many mistakes?

I think against a really good team, they're going to have to play it a lot tighter. The three interceptions from Josh last week, they got away with them because they were playing against Atlanta, right? And then at the very end, I mean, Atlanta's in that ballgame until the taunting penalty on Matt Ryan. Yeah. Right? Because if he gets in and he's technically not giving himself up on the goal line and that's a touchdown, then the penalty is assessed on the kick.

But because he didn't get in the end zone and didn't score, they had to back him up. And now it's fourth down and a prayer from the 16, 18 yard line or something. Yeah. So they're in the ball game, a one score game with like four minutes left. The bills should have wiped them off. the field. They lost to the Jags. That's what I'm saying.

So that's my only fear is the inconsistency. I thought, I think at times they get a little cute, a little cute. But I thought Singletary's really coming around. I'd love to see them use Zach Moss a little more. I don't understand that. I mean, I thought he was great coming out of Utah. So are I. Like he had a lot of mileage on him because he ran a lot of Utah and all that,

almost like a Levion Bell where maybe he's not going to have like a, you know, 12, 13 year career as a running back, which is hard anyway, right? Those guys get banged around. So I just thought, you know, that kind of one-two punch would be a little better for him. But when Josh runs it, I mean, he's almost their leading rusher every week. Yeah. So my only fear is like, just don't get him banged around, right? I need him available and then tighten up a couple of those plays.

And it's really like, it's not like just a bad read. Those were just a bad decision at the very end. Like, say, uncle, don't make me chicken salad at a chicken crap. Just throw it in the third row, give somebody a souvenir in the stands, and move on with your life. And that's the hardest thing to do. I mean, plenty of quarterbacks have had trouble with it, myself included, because you're so confident you know you can make the throw,

no matter what the circumstances are, I can fit this ball in there. And at this level, you can't. All right, so the Saints need a win and a Niners loss. You've done Saints games. You have the Saints this week at Atlanta. Atlanta's weird. They'll make this very competitive. What is your take on the Saints?

Like there are teams, the Raiders and the Saints. my takeaway is how the heck are they how are they i don't understand i mean what sean payton's been able to do and it's a credit to dennis allen and that defense yeah but that front is tough now you saw what they did to tampa i mean that's the defending super bowl champ shut him now the last four out of five so the last two years i mean they just bullied them and beat them up and left them bruised and battered like every time they just got the formula i mean you saw brady run to the sidelines until Dennis Allen, how he felt. You know what I'm saying?

Like, Brady doesn't do that. So you could tell. They have something on defense that's really special. DeMario Davis, Cam Jordan. I mean, those guys really come to play. So Atlanta's going to be in tough. I thought, I don't know if Sean Payton's getting enough credit for this year. No, I mean, listen, it's...

Starting quarterback, starting running back, receiver doesn't even play. Mike Thomas doesn't even play. Think about Belichick last year. Exactly. They were a play against Bullitt. Buffalo and Seattle from going like nine and it, was it 17 games last year? It was 16 games. So they would have been nine and seven.

Eight opt-outs. Cam Newton, who we see now is kind of shot. You go back and look at Belichick, you're like, that was one of his best coaching jobs ever. Most other coaches, save for maybe like Andy Reed, Sean Peyton, Mike Tomlitt. Like those are two-win rosters. That's a two-win roster potentially or two-win scenario all season long. But because they got that guy, because Sean Payton's going to grind it out and form

these plays on offense and put Trevor Simeon or Tason Hill in a position to be successful to generate some sort of offense. And it's been patchwork at best. But I mean, that guy's got a lot more gray hairs this year than he's had in the last 15. You know, it's funny. We just had a Baker-Mayfield story, which kind of, it's kind of interesting. I've always said this. I like my presidents to be presidential. I like my quarterbacks to be quarterbackial. And it's kind of unfair. You come out of college. You're 24 years old. You got money. and girls, and I kind of expect you to be a 34-year-old, and that's not fair, but life's not fair, and that's the position you're representing. And there was a story today by Mary Kay Cabot,

who's been covering the Browns Forever, legitimate reporter. I saw the response. Yeah. And my takeaway, here's my takeaway. A, it doesn't matter if you and I like it or the fans. The GM and the coach don't like it. That we know. But here's the other thing. His future in Cleveland's murky. It's a reasonable take. Do you put that out there, no. going, there's going to be a GM out there being like... That does like it? That doesn't. Oh, that doesn't.

It's just a lot of toxicity, right? It was just a little strong. I think it was a little aggressive, the response. That's who he is there. I mean, all you... What he's trying to say is there's no truth to this. That's right. So just say that.

Like, I get it. There's, it was just a little... When you read it, it was very emotional. Right? Like, it was emotionally driven. Right. And that was the response. Which is fine.

He's an emotional. guy's, you know, reactionary guy, fine. You know, is it a little overkill? Maybe a little. You know, don't lie about me to put food on your table. Like, I don't know if you have to go there. Is he wrong for going there? No, that's his opinion.

It is interesting. It is interesting. And I'm going to ask you this because it's the NFC South where it's a little unsettled at quarterback or old, Matt and Tom. You have a very aggressive owner. He's a go-for-it guy. They've got some interesting wide receiver talent. Matt rules an offensive coach. Seattle, by the way, needs corners desperately. That's like one of the weakest spots. Did ship Gilmore there? They have J.C. Horn, Stefan Gilmore, C.J. Henderson. Oh, Horn didn't really play, right?

Dante Jackson. So they got corners to give Seattle in a trade. Seattle needs a big-time corner. And the Panthers, let me ask you this. Who's going to be the coordinator? Well, that's a question. So I have a question for you. You're Russell Wilson today.

And you think this. Now, here's my knock. Seattle's roster is easily the fourth best in that division. And you have a 70-year-old defensive coach against three offensive coaches. And, oh, by the way, really good quarterbacks. would you leave if you felt the roster's not good enough and I want an offensive coach now you know Pete but would you consider leaving he's going to consider leaving the way everything went this year he'll consider it if it's me personally I don't know but I'm too biased

to ask that question okay like what would be attractive to you though would you have to have an offensive coach that would be nice but it's not the end of the world okay all right it's fair let's just say they feel like their time's up and they don't want to run a with Pete and, you know, like, he's just like, okay. I'm not saying that's the right move. I'm just saying if he says that. I don't know if Carolina's on my short list. Look at the QBs that have been through there.

I mean, they have almost the same number of tombstones at quarterback as Miles Garrett has on that cape, on that Grim Reaper cape. I mean, it's Bridgewater, it's PJ Walker, it's Sam Darnall. It's, I mean, they just run through them and they don't give anybody any time. So I don't, I don't know. And who's going to be your coordinator? And do you want to go to Charlotte? is that the market you want now?

I can see him wanted to go to like New York. Maybe not the Jets, but the Giants or somewhere with a chance to win now or somewhere with the big market, something, something different. I don't know. New York's funny marks. I just don't know if Charlotte's

the spot for him. That's fair. So I said this earlier. The NFL, I've seen Bill Parcells do it four times. He takes a bad team, makes them good overnight. You can't do that in baseball. You need players, and a lot of the bad teams in baseball just don't have the money. In the NBA, you're not going to go get Kevin Durant and LeBron show up to the Pacers overnight.

But in the NFL, you can overturn about 40% of your roster. You can get six free agents, nine draft picks, and if you get the right quarterback, things change. And I, and I, when I kind of look around the NFL right now is, the giants are interesting. And this is why I think they'll go big after Russell. I think they're the only team in the National Football League that is barring Russell going there, they're hopeless. Houston, Davis Mills,

in a weird division, doesn't feel hopeless. Not great, but homeless. Hopeless. Okay. Dallas has way better players. Philadelphia's got better players. Washington's got better players, and you don't have the right quarterback. So when you're desperate...

You think they'd swap QB for QB and picks? Well, here's what I'm saying. Who would the Giants give? What would Seattle get? They've got good corners. They got more weapons. Give me Sterling Shepard. Give me Bradbury, your top corner. I want three first. And the quarterback and Daniel Jones?

Listen, for a year, I would deal with it. I'd kind of take. I don't know. That's what I'm saying. Like my thing is, maybe Pete wants somebody like that that's like Russ early on Russ, not Russ who he is now, established Russ, you know? I think the Giants are desperate.

Yeah. I don't think Houston's, you know, in fact, I had a source that I trust yesterday tell me on Houston. They're not taking a quarterback. Did you check your source with Baker Mayfield? I did not. Click, bait. Too soon, Joy, I'm sorry.

But, you know, their theory, here's their theory. The quarterback class out of college is better than next year. Right. In two years, not this year. Let's get, Davis Mills, we drafted him in the second. He was more than competent. Jones is going into his fourth? His fourth year. And so they have to decide on a fifth year option like now.

Let's just move him out, get a star, give up our top corner, a number two receiver, three to four number ones. Pete may jump at that. I wouldn't be shocked. I think that's a better spot for him, potentially than Carolina. I also think Denver. If either him or Rogers go to Denver, I mean, it's on. It looks just like Peyton Manning. I mean, that is eerily similar. Have you done a Bronco game this year? Yes. And they can run the Rock. They got a decent defense. They do. I mean, Vic

Fancho's had that defense playing pretty well. Fant, good receivers. I mean, top corners. And Julius Thomas came on when he had a quarterback like Peyton Manning throwing them the ball. I mean, he went to like three Pro Bowls out of nowhere. Right. I mean, he was a good player the whole time, but then he found the right combination, the right chemistry. All right, I'm put you on the spot. It's not always the best team that gets to the Super Bowl. It usually is, but it's often matchups.

So when you look at the NFC and AFC, I don't think, I do not think the Packers and Chiefs are a layup. I think you can run the ball on Green Bay and I think everybody in the NFC, now they got Sony Michelle and Camakers in L.A.,

Packers' run defense is bad. So I think the Rams are a bad matchup for them. I kind of think the Rams have a chance to come out of the NFC. Your NFC and AFC. They went, I mean, the Rams went up there, right? Oh, no. Where did they play? They played Green Bay at Green Bay. Yeah, it was freezing. Yes. And it's not getting any warmer. That's, that's a real thing. I know it's cold for both sides. They're just used to it. But they knew, the Rams kind of knew that. We had them right around that time against the Jags. And they said, listen, this is a get-back.

on track game. We got to kind of run the table here at the tail end of the season, but we're going to have to go through Green Bay again. They're not going to give up that spot because they're winning too many games. So we got to get ready for that. Having Cam back, Cam Acres back, that's huge because they're going to need to run the ball, play a little keep away. And it gets like situational baseball, right?

Games during the regular season are, you know, 10 to 12 and the Astros win. Well, you get in the playoffs and it's like two to three, two to one. And very, you know, you know, situational. you bring in certain relievers and all that kind of stuff. It's the same thing in football. Rarely are there just absolute blowouts. You know, you see, look at Tom Brady's Super Bowl run last year. Those are probably his worst playoff stats he's ever had.

And they were all in multiple picks, less than 200 yards. Like that's not Tom Brady. So, you know, the team has to figure out a way to win. And do they have a good enough team, a talented enough team? Absolutely. I think the Rams can make a serious run. Yeah. You know, Cardinals, Cowboys, they're just kind of hit and miss, right?

It's hard to figure out what they are. You can say the same thing about the Rams. Those are tough ones, though. I mean, that's going to be interesting. But, I mean, Green Bay is in the driver's seat. Yes. All the teams that could challenge him are either dome teams or warm weather. And to your point, weather matters.

No doubt. It's interesting with Kansas City. They scored three points in the second half against Cincinnati. I think they should be favored. But they have dry spells. I mean, we know. Mahomes has had some bad months. And that's second half against Cincinnati,

the Bengals were up and down the field. Oh, yeah. I think they should be favored. But again, I think Tennessee's a weird matchup for them. They just run the heck out of the ball. Over and over. You know, Tana Hills, he's so, you know, solid. He's so good.

He's not great. He's not, you know, the best to do it. But he's more than capable. And he seems to get him out of jams at times. You know, he seems they're not great on third down. That's got to be a lot better for them. But the ability to run the, the ball. I can't emphasize that enough, especially in the playoffs. You got to run the rock.

Got to. It just makes it hard when he can't. Yeah. So you look at this NFL season. Do you have one takeaway from it? I think it's amazing. We've gone through COVID, end of the year, injuries, and it's mostly who we thought would be here. That we've, once again, the NFL, skated around COVID, and here we are. I think Arizona was a little bit of a surprise for me. I didn't see that. I didn't see this kind of ascension. Rams, I thought, because of Matthew Stafford, that's going in the right direction. You know, I guess biggest disappointment, I'm a little shocked that Seattle didn't make a bigger push, but that division is tough.

So it kind of makes sense, looking back on that one. We said this, but Sean Payton, just keeping the Saints hanging on. The Patriots, I mean, just to be where they're at with a rookie quarterback, Yeah. That's tough sledding now. It really is. That is so, I mean, you can't say enough about that. Nine games.

Nine games. And he's barely figuring it out. Like, you know, in some spots he's been luckier than he has been good. I mean, wait until he gets good. That's pretty special what he's done. Nine games with 70% completion or more. And their top receivers, Jacoby Myers. That's, I mean, look at the guys he's throwing to.

No offense to those guys. No, but it's, geez. It's B guys. I mean, it's not Jamar Chase and T. Higgins. Not to take anything away from Joe Burrell. He's been lights out after an injury. All right. Mark brought cupcakes for my birthday today.
