The last time the Cowboys were dominant, he was the playmaker, and he is joining us Michael Irvin, Pro Football Hall of Famer in studio. We got a lot of stuff.

So we have been talking about this all day. I'm like, listen, fans can get a little grabby, but they're fans. So Yankee fans got kicked out for tonight's game five. What did you make? Now, Jay Mack says, you can't touch an athlete. So they did grab Mookie Betts.

Mookie Today said, I don't care. I'm over it. What would you do with them? Listen, this right here, these guys are national heroes. What are you talking about? Y'all got another game. In New York, right now,

they're sitting in some bar. Okay, they can't go to the game. But they're going to be the star at the bar. Are you joking? They're going to be the star. Hey, aren't you those guys? You're the reason. we got another game.

Way to go, guys! Way to go. Everybody, bite him a beer. Did fans get in your face ever? But, okay, now, you're walking out of the tunnel, fans doing stuff. That's, that's different. That's different. But that's part of the game.

That's part of the game. I thought that was a home run. And you always taught me to go for it. I was going for it. So he thought he had him a ball. Yeah, you're fine. I understand that. That's good, buddy.

That's good. I could take that right there. I could take that. bother you. Oh, God, no. No, that's like, that's like yelling loud at the free throw. That's all. That's what that is. You touched him. You touch, Mookie.

But he was, he was in my area. I didn't go on the field to touch him. He broke that glove over here. Yeah, J-Mack. You came into my area. Yeah, he was in my area. I stayed here. Them kid, they didn't leave their area. Y'all, y'all got to be real with this. Look at those guys. They're saying, hey, right here.

He came into us. We didn't go to him. Let me help everybody with this. Let me help everybody. do this. See, look at it the other way. Them poor fellows, had they go and grow and no, and didn't touch anything, they would have been the laughing stock for the rest of their lives. No kidding. They would have said, oh my God, you had a chance. You could have affected the game and you could have grabbed that bullet. So among their peer group, they would have been laughed at. Oh, my God. Oh, you guys know I'm right about this. They would have been, they've been, they'd have killed those.

They'll have killed those kids with a tea. They're not just killed. They're a kilt. You know, they would have. They'd have made fun about social media in New York. The king of rude, we do what we want to do. We knew y'all. Yeah.

All right. Yeah, dog. Okay. How about this one? Their kids, they got some DMs from girls they never thought they could get. They were like, dude, yes who DM me. Yeah. Instagram model.

She said she saw me and influencer. I guarantee you they got some. All right. Well, I mean, I mean, she's got some DMs. That's what I'm talking about. Obviously. Obviously. I won't know trouble.

Okay, so the big story last week, big story last week, Michael, is that former cowboys are like, you know, the facility tours are obnoxious, they're weird, they're cringy, and fans are way, at us. What did you make of that? We can't job. We can't do this. I'm stunned.

Why? That's called stun. Let's call stun. You're stunned that players are upset. I'm stunned that I'm sitting here on national TV. Think using my most precious resource called time, spending my most precious resource called brain equity, speaking about this being a distraction to players that make $60 million a year. Now, you understand back in the day, those practice facilities used to be way out, way out, right?

Well, they weren't this nice. Right, right. And they were never this nice. They were lost leaders. They were just lost money. So they moved from one property, from a C property to maybe a B property, and they're building developments around it. And people are having offices and watching practice. Now, now, do you?

want to live in my year when we were making six, seven, eight, ten million dollars a year? You go back to those old practices where nobody was watching. But your ass is in this year and you're making $60 million a year. The way they got it to $60 is by moving in and letting those people watch. If you don't want people to watch, go back to making $5 and $6 and $8 million a year. Otherwise, shut the hell up and play football. Why is somebody walking around? Walking around watching you eat lunch is a distraction.

That's not a distraction, man. Let's stop coming up with stuff and making excuses for not showing up on the football field. Are you joking? Somebody watch me eat lunch. Come on, man. I cannot be the rational one. And I've seen this story making on every network everywhere. I don't know how this is a story.

I cannot be the rational one. It just doesn't sound humanly right. Okay. All right. Now, another question. I heard your hot on this. Anthony Richardson. Now, people say, well, Josh Allen struggled in his first 10 games, but here's where I

defended Josh Allen. He went to a team with a defensive coach, no receivers, no run game, and he got good. His first six games to his last six his rookie year, he made a big leap. Anthony's got an offensive coach, a great back, a great line, two receivers. he's getting worse, like noticeably with Shane Steichen. I think they had to make him, I don't think they wanted to do this. I think they look at their roster and think, we're the best, we have the best roster in this division.

We got an impulsive owner in Jim Ursay. We got to win games. You don't like it? Well, the move? You don't like it. Benching. Anthony Richardson, no, it was the right move. You're okay with it.

It was the right move. I'm not okay with it because I hate seeing the young man go through. through these kinds of struggle. And we talk about this all the time because it's two things that play here. It's what's happening on the football field, but it's also what's happening inside a young man. You know, and there are two things here.

There's a professional him and a personal him. And we knew when you drafted him fourth overall that he was wrong. Very. He was wrong. So in putting him in a position where, okay, he has that ability and drafted a fourth overall,

and he's raw in his profession. Let's make, you know, an assessment that he's probably going to be raw in his person. And we've got to make sure we undergird him correctly and not have these kinds of situations. You're the CEO of the company. I don't know you can't, you, you've never, in the history of football, we've never had a quarterback. I've never seen a quarterback Tepa's helmet and come out of the game. When he said he was tired, what did you make of that? Well, he's a running quarterback.

And I understand that. And, yeah, if you're running and he's run a few plays, and people got to understand during the season, you really, if you're not very careful and diligently, if you do a diligently, diligently, you will get out of shape during the season as the season goes on because you do less running as they're trying to protect you. You're also constantly rehabbing, trying to get healthy.

Rehabing and everything. Yeah, they're rehabbing. So you really, you, you, really, you, you got to take it upon yourself to run more. Troy, I'm telling you all the time. I would see them running at lunch, you know, because their job, most time they're dropping back three steps, five steps, seven steps, three steps, three steps.

There's not a whole lot of running in that. So you've got to add it, especially if you're making a living with your legs, and you've got to understand that it has never happened in the history of the game. Now I can't put you back in the game because other guys will be in the locker room. I'm not worried.

I worry about the kid, and then I worry about that locker room, and everybody in the locker room is saying, man, what are we doing here, man? We got a quarterback, man. The guy's tapping out. Clearly, he's not ready for this. That's why they have to sit him down.

They have to see. They'll lose the locker room. They will lose the locker room. This is bigger than Jim Mersey. You'll definitely see Jim Mersey if you don't make sure you keep this locker room. There is no, There's no way to deny you'll be right in front of Jim Mersey

if you lose this locker room and that move he had to make or he would have lost that locker room. Yeah. Okay, so the biggest play of the weekend, Washington outplayed Chicago. They actually, they deserved to win. I was happy the Hail Mary happened because Chicago had no business winning. We saw the kids screwing around, Tarek Stevenson. It's a mistake.

Okay, he's a kid. I would be mad, make him speak to the team. but is there a way you and Jimmy did you guys practice Hail Marys every day all the time every day and people have to understand

there's a system to a Hail Mary there's a system and that's why man watching it I was like whoa did you see this I was telling the guys earlier I was at the Miami game in Cam Ward

he came over to the game he was to grab the guy the stick guy do we have a TV time out he said no TV time I decided I need to turn around told coach get the guys here we're not going to have a TV time out I need to get it in we got to go fast I look back to Bernie Kosar because we were all on the sideline I said what was that Bernie he said man it took me five years before I learned all of that I was like I didn't even know that

stick man existed on the football trail you see what I'm saying you know so so to me that you're seeing leadership and a player that's beyond his years what I saw in that hell Mary was something beyond his years again. Now, the order of a hell Mary, you have three men involved here, most important. You have a point man. His job is to go down and stand maybe a yard right inside the touchdown, right side of the goal line. So the first guy, you want to stand in front of the goal line. Right in front of the go line. Boom, face back, rebound position, basketball rebound position. Could he be a tip guy? He is the point guy. Okay. The first guy. One yard is

side end zone, he is the point guy. The next guy, four yards outside the goal line. He is the front guy because their job, the defense, is taught to bat it down. So that guy is going to be the little quick guy, the fast guy. So if it gets back down, we didn't even skittee, witty, witty, and get your butt in his end zone some kind of way. So he's going to be a fast guy. A guy like me, Noah Brown, we're going to be on the backside, five yards past. The top side, the point. So if it's passed out the point man. And his job as the point man is to try to catch it. If he can't get it, push it back, point it, kick it back, and Noah Brown gets it.

But if they try to get it and hit it forward, then we got the front man to hit it. Now, now, I want you to go inside of a football game. These things are usually happening at the end of a game. And there are things that people haven't talked about. Now, first of all, even to get to the 50-yard line, you remember he had to throw that quick out. So we were in a two-minute drill just to get to the 50-yard line. That means everybody just line up playing, line up playing, line up playing, line up playing. And then you get to the 50-yard line and throw the hell Mary.

You are damn exhausted. You are exhausted. You never get it set up as we practice it. Because there's never enough time for as exhausted as you are. So that was this time, though. To run 50 yards. No, it wasn't. He created the time.

Yes, I'm saying. what I'm talking about. That's what he did. The way he came, every time they back up and then the quarterbacks will come forward and go right or left. But that's not enough time and they'll throw the ball. He backed up, went forward, went one way, then came back the other way. And then as he was coming to the side, he was going to throw it on.

He still waited, see, like get in position and then through that jump ball. I said to myself, that's beyond his years to understand a sense of timing when you're that's young. everything is being rushed. It's incredible, and it's so beautiful to watch how he comes along, how he's coming along. But it's apropos for how to do it. What would you have done if you coached the Bears with that Tarek Stevenson messing around with the fans? Man, it's afterwards, and there's nothing you can do.

You know, we're not in the Jimmy Johnson years where you just made an example out of guys. Right. You know, can't do that anymore. Right, right, right, because, you know, you just can't do that anymore. So here, what you got to do is, and the sad part is he was supposed to be the guy that's boxing out. Yeah. That's boxing out, Noah Brown. And that's, that's only one doo-doo.

That's only one doo-doo that you didn't get the box out. Now, the other do-do for me is, is now you come running in and everybody's in position to play basketball to knock the ball down. But when you come running in with that inertia, you knocked everybody off where they were going, and you were the one to kick the ball back to Noah Brown. That's the second dudeo. You see what I'm saying? Also, they had a spy on Jaden Daniels that felt like a wasted defender. Right, but that's on God's shoulders down, though.

What we're talking about what Jaden Daniels doing is his ability to understand that he showed us up. But when he was getting away from the rushes, that's just what God just said, and just gave him that kind of gift. He's smooth. Michael Irvin, the playmaker, defending righteously. You know, Michael made a good point, J-Mack. Mookie Betts sort of came into their space. Who came to me?

I'm innocent. Their parking spot, they need nudged his car into their parking spot. If those dudes came on the field for that ball, that's a different story. It is. Throwing stuff's a different story. Going on the field is a different story. In all your years was there, I don't remember years ago, there was a player named Mike Curtis.

He was a linebacker. somebody came on the field and he tackled him. In all your years of high school college pro, let's just go college pro. Did any fan ever run on the field? No, no, I've never had. Yeah, I was going to say most people are smart enough not to. Not that I remember. And you've got to remember, too, Colin.

I was always playing for one of the majors, you know, like St. Thomas Aquinas High School, the University of Miami to you are the Dallas. You had real security. That was real security there because they're one of the majors. This wasn't a D3 school. Yeah, that was always good. You know what I mean? We had the real Popo over there.

No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the Herdline News. He had some redder cops on the field last night, apparently. For Game for World Series. Let's get started with DeAndre Hopkins, who made his debut with the Chiefs last week, Colin. Caught two or three targets for 29 yards,

helped convert a key third down on the opening drive. Speaking of the media earlier this week, Andy Reid talked about his performance and expectations this week against Tampa. He's a good football player. And being able to fit in more will even be better, I think, as we go forward here. So he was chomping at the bid on the sideline, wanting to play. And at the same time, knowing that he didn't have all of it down.

So there was a patience there. But he was into the game. And I think you'll be able to see more of this next game. Excited to watch him play. Like a winning franchise finds ways to win. Are you just jumping on the Chiefs bandwagon at this point? Oh, two Super Bowls. I can't wait to see D-Hop.

Well, I've been an Andy Reid fan forever. I wasn't a Chiefs guy. I was an Andy guy. Even Mahomes, the first second year, I was a little slow on it because he would get into these big deficits. Like, you can't win the NFL trailing 17-0 all the time. That's what Holmes can. Yeah.

Mahomes is likable. That's the thing. Mahomes and Reed are very likable. They don't step in it. They don't say dumb stuff. It's a much, I find the Chiefs a much more TV-friendly, relatable dynasty than New England, which was like covert, quiet, do your job. It was like anti-fun, like Alabama and Nick Saban and Belichick, kind of anti-fund, very corporate, do your job, very covert, don't step in it. I find the Chiefs to be more of the Warriors.

You get some personality, they are like on social media, the Kelsey. That's not bad. Yeah, I'd say it's more warriors. Not all dynasties are interesting. Tim Duncan and the Spurs, Alabama and the Patriots. If you take Brady out of the Patriots and he was always in line, you know, say the right thing. Some dynasties are just not, I mean, the NFL is getting better ratings without the New England dynasty. And I think part of it is Kansas City's fun.

Well, some NFL teams. By the way, World Series may have topped Monday Night Football. It was super close. I think they're still checking the last minute numbers. A quick point on the Chiefs. So DeAndre Hawkins is wonderful. Great, you added him. When Kansas City loses in the playoffs, I can guarantee you.

Patrick Mahomes will not be blamed. And I can already give you your take when the Chiefs lose. Well, Mahomes didn't have anybody. He's throwing to Diop. Travis Kelsey's washed. They got nobody. I'm just telling you the excuses are baked in for your Chiefs. You're a Nick Chiefs.

Well, you could say when the Warriors lost, people didn't blame Steph Curry, and they were right. it would be other players. You can't, I mean, Mahomes has won back-to-back years with below-average receiving course. So we know it's not him. He's elevating people. Well, this season, he has not been great

and they're still winning. The defense is elevating. But it's like the opposite goes for Brock Purdy. When they win, well, he's got a stack deck. When they lose, look, look, Purdy through three picks. Yeah, but Purdy's never proven that he can carry average players. The minute they got hurt, what is he, like six and six in his last 12-star?

seven and seven in his last 14? How many quarterbacks have proven they can carry average players? The great ones, which you claim Purdy was. The great ones do that. Purdy's great right now, not all the time. Other than Mahomes, like, you're not seeing dudes carry inferior teams. Even the Josh Allen had to go get help. Lamar, back-to-back years now.

They've got to help him. Like, Mahomes is one-on-one. He doesn't need help to dominate the regular season. Oh, boy. Let's go to the Ravens, Colin. They've historically been a really good defensive team, But this year, oh my gosh, some of these numbers are about to show you are abysmal. Remember, James Winston just cooked them for 334 yards and three touchdowns.

John Harbaugh knows they need to fix this leaky defense fast. We're going to continue to turn over every stone with our defense and with every other part of our team too, you know, to get as good as we can get during the course of a long season. It's massive, you know, making those plays. So we'll make those plays. We'll work hard at it and we'll continue to work even harder. at it, you know, because it's something that we want our guys to have confidence in. You know, we got guys with good hands. You know, they can catch the ball. So I'm pretty,

I'm very confident that we're going to do it going forward, but I'd like to see it happen real soon. Yeah, so these numbers are about to show you are quite staggering. The Ravens, you know, a real tough physical team. Look at this, Colin. We're talking bottom seven in almost every defensive category. It is not good. Now, they lost their defensive coordinator to Seattle, McDonald's who's great. But they did have to be. They did have to be in the game. They're to pay Lamar big, big money. They did. They moved off some offensive linemen and they let some defensive guys go. They did. And retooling has not been easy. That is the big thing. Like Mahomes has not been great, but I'll tell you right now, he can cook this secondary.

If James Winston can light him up with Cedric Tillman and the guys from the Jets. And that's why they doubled down and went and got Deontay Johnson. Their takeaway is, the only way we can win a championship is more points. And so I think what Baltimore is saying is we're just going to we've had defensive led teams that was the deal for championship that was lamar early they had better defenses Baltimore has said listen we're just going to go all in we're not going to have kansas city's defense we're not going to have we're not we're not going to have houston's defense when healthy we're going to try to we're going to try to outscore kansas city and i i think based outside of kyle hamilton at safety uh i think they have one decent

pass rusher but i i think sometimes you have to just go let's double down on our strength and not try to solve our weakness because in the end, if we have the last possession against the bills or the chiefs, we want another weapon, another really good defensive ends not going to win that game. Are you seeing this line, Ravens minus nine at home against your boy, Bo, Knicks, and Sean Payton. Nine. That's a big number.

Any early thoughts on that one? I like Baltimore. Yeah. So do I. Final story, Colin, is the Seattle Seahawks. They were held to a season load 10 points last week in a bad loss to the bills. I was on Seattle.

It was ugly. They clearly missed their star, D.K. Metcalfe, who missed the game with a knee injury. But Mike McDonald says things are looking, quote, optimistic for Metcalf's return this week. But as he has not practiced yet, ahead of a big game against the Rams. And this is a huge swing game. It's on Fox.

Because if Seattle wins this, all that momentum the Rams had after the Vikings win is gone. And if the Rams win it, Oh my goodness. It's San Fran, Arizona, Rams all jumbled all of a sudden. We felt before the season I had said, I thought San Francisco would take a step back. I thought the Rams would win the division, but Seattle and Arizona would be in for the fight. And this division, it doesn't feel like now we have a clear number one. I think San Francisco has the best roster.

And when they're healthy, I think we said it earlier in the week. I think San Francisco was overvalued. I think now San Francisco getting healthy is really undervalued. I don't think they're a Super Bowl team, but I think right now, micro-level, the Niners are better than the perception because of early losses. Seattle, you know, young coach, they had that loss to the Giants, which is kind of inexplicable, but they got destroyed.

Then they bounce back and crush Kirk Cousins. Then they get crushed. They're kind of inconsistent right now. Arizona is kind of a sleeper in that division. Well, Arizona's offensive skill level is out of this world. McBride, Connor, and Harrison are monsters. And Kyler are outstanding. By the way, Bears, Cardinals coming up.

Who do you like? That's a good game. I can't reveal that yet. I have not bet the game, but I like that game. I love a lot of games this week. Oh, so do why. There's a lot of good. Oh, there's a ton of quarterback matches. That's really great for gambling.

So we were talking about article today that said that Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson are already seen as sort of busts.

You know, and a lot of this is owners are richer, they're more impulsive, and you get a couple years now, and by, you know, to me, by Thanksgiving of the second year, people make decisions, so we're still three, four weeks away from Thanksgiving, but I think both the Panthers and the Colts would draft another quarterback and will. But we went back and we said, you know, Bryce Young was a little small. and Richardson was raw and more of an athlete than a quarterback. And I think what's happening is just teams are getting more desperate because the league has gotten so quarterback driven by all the rules. It's the only way you have to win.

So you have to make a decision. And the teams that double down on like a Daniel Jones, that's worse. Then you're trapped paying an average quarterback. At least Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson, you're never going to have a cap issue. I mean, the Giants can't attain certain players because they're jammed up against the cap with Daniel Jones being overpaid. But we went back and we looked at the best quarterback and we said, we can complicate all you want, the quarterback position. Who knows who's going to be good? But we went back to the previous nine drafts and there is one common thread.

They're all really accurate from the pocket. Jaden Daniels, C.J. Stroud, this is the best quarterback. from each class. You may not have thought it at the time, but they become the best quarterback. Brock Purdy, Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray, Josh Allen Lamar Jackson, Mahomes and golf are all excellent from the pocket.

And what's funny about Lamar, you don't think he is, but his career completion percentage is 67%. And it's gotten much better in the last year because the Ravens have finally gotten him better perimeter weapons. They always gave him old lines and backs and tight ends. He didn't have very good receivers until recently. So, you know, I mean, by the way, all shapes and sizes.

Gough doesn't run, but he's great from the pocket. Pretty small, but he's great from the pocket. Lamar and Jaden, Daniels, and Josh Allen are very athletic, but they're good from the pocket. Kyler Murray, tiny, runs a lot. Good from the pocket. So Trevor Lawrence has been disappointing, but some of that's just the, you know, the reality, the vagaries of being part of the Jaguars system, you know. So you can, and do you think Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson are busts?

There's a difference between being a bust and just somebody I'm not going to build around. I don't think any franchise looks at Bryce Young and says, let's build around him. But I think there'll be a lot of teams like the Rams could say, we'll take you as a backup. We don't want to draft the quarterback. We'll give up a fifth round pick for you. So you say bust. Well, they're not franchise quarterback. I always said that about Tebow.

I love Tebow as my third. quarterback. He's great in the locker room, worked hard. He could be like an upman on a punt team, number three quarterback. I'm not going to build around Tim Tebow. I don't want a celebrity backup quarterback. He could be an upman on the punt team or a tight end, maybe an emergency quarterback. But that's what with Anthony Richardson, there may be another team that thinks they can fix him. But his biggest issue isn't just as inaccuracy is that Shane Steichen viewed as a quarterback whisperer who turned Jalen Hertz into a Super Bowl quarterback and Justin Herbert broke all those records as a rookie under Stuyken.

The problem for Anthony Richardson, I think has real talent is once Stuyken bails on you, everybody's like, well, if Shane can't fix him, let's get out of here. I mean, I think if Anthony Richardson was bombing with a defensive coach, he would get another shot. It's like Trey Lance. Once Kyle Shanahan said it doesn't work, I still don't. can't believe the Cowboys gave up a fourth for him. Because if Shanahan can't make the quarterback work, the quarterback doesn't work.

If Stuyken can't make it work, it doesn't work. Now, Carolina, you can argue that's a circus. Nobody could make that work. But the quarterback coach who took the head coaching job in Carolina, remember, he was great with Gino and Baker Mayfield. So here's the downside to being a young quarterback and getting an offensive coach. If you fail, nobody wants to. take you. The upside to getting it is if you're good, you'll get good faster. You'll get more

polished, refined, faster. You know, the downside of the defensive coach is he's not going to get you. He doesn't have that sensibility. But if you bomb out, somebody will go, well, that's the coach. I mean, let's say Caleb Williams had a bumpy second half of the season. People would, they blame Iber flus. If Shane Stuy can coach the Bears, you'd be like, I don't know. I don't know if Caleb's going to work. So there you go. Michael Irvin, Joel Clatt, both brought it today, and the two guys that disrupted the game last night for the Yankees,
