Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast. Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan, so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes. Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away, such as the biology of tauntons and wampas on the ice planet hot, or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule. of two. Listen to Stuff to Bole Your Mind on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:35 A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Cliver Show. This is a place for raw, unfills of conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that
Starting point is 00:01:56 not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok's podcast network on TikTok. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday from 12 to 3 Eastern, 9 to noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and FS1. Find your local station for the Heard at Fox Sports Radio.com or stream us live every day on the iHeart radio app by searching Heard.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Now let's get this party started. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. That Derek Carr story is interesting. He absolutely has a market. Raiders right now of the number three pick. He's been there nine years, six coaches. I mean, if you're the Saints, look at their quarterback situation.
Starting point is 00:02:44 They don't know week to week who's playing. You don't think Derek Carr would solidify that. I'd keep Tassum Hill on the roster if I could afford both because I think he's really an interesting third down red zone, you know, peace. They have Olivae on the outside. He's terrific young player. I hadn't thought of the Saints.
Starting point is 00:02:59 It stinks. I thought there would be less of a market and my jets could snatch him up. I like Derek Carr. Trent Dill for a decade and a half in the NFL, a Pro Bowl and a Super Bowl. Lipscomb Academy head football coach, Nashville, Tennessee. So go back. I don't remember, I remember covering you early in Tampa, but Lamar has got this financial thing hanging over his head.
Starting point is 00:03:20 And I do think that stuff gets into your space. Everybody's mine in my life. and he's still, he's a remarkable player, but he's getting frustrated last night. He kind of lost his composure. Go back to your career. With stuff hanging over your head that it affected your play? That's an interesting question. I think, yeah, I think, you know, human nature is when you have other stuff.
Starting point is 00:03:41 I like that how you're saying that. You just have stuff in your life. It's obviously going to filter into your game a little bit. It takes a very emotionally mature person to compartmentalize the economics of your life, family situations, whatever that stuff is, I think all of us, no matter how old and mature we are, going to let it affect us to a certain degree. Now, I think there's a flip side to that, too. I do think Lamar betting on himself gives him some massive DQs, dude qualities. And if you're on his team, you're like, man, that dude's betting on himself. Like, I like that.
Starting point is 00:04:15 I like that this guy has supreme confidence, and he's willing to bet on himself. That means we're all going to benefit from his assassin-like approach to getting ready every week to play. and how he plays in the game. So I think you have good and bad to the situation. You know, I look at the Seahawks, and I think certain coaches have certain models. And one of the reasons Pete Carroll was successful in college, Trent, he's great with young players. I've had guys tell me this, that after seven or eight years with Pete, you've heard all the stories. But he's really a motivator and a teacher.
Starting point is 00:04:51 And I'm shocked by Seattle's success. Are you or just moderately surprised? No, I'm shocked, but I've known Pete a long time, and I agree. He does an incredible job, probably as good a job as anybody I've ever been around the coaching profession of making you feel better than you really are. Like, he just makes his players, his coaches, the organization have the warm and fuzzies. Like, man, this guy believes in me. This guy really believes I can be the best player of my position.
Starting point is 00:05:21 He believes I can be a pro baller. He believes I can be a Hall of Fuzzy. Famer. And he's going to teach me all this secret sauce. He's learned through all these years to help me get there. I think inspiration is another word for that. He inspires players to a level that they're better than. I also think pretty revelatory comments coming out of Seattle, like, look how good you can be when nobody cares who gets the credit. I think that comes from the head coach and the mantras over the offseason and the team building and training camp. And as they go through adversity. It's like, hey, guys, we're all in this together. That isn't about any one of us.
Starting point is 00:05:55 It's about all of us. And if we buy into something bigger than ourselves, look what we can accomplish. I've done this before. I think he can point back to history lessons of his coaching crew and say, I remember when I had this team and nobody believed in us, and look what we accomplished. And you start sharing that message with a lot of young people, and you're going to inspire them to levels higher than what they thought they could achieve. You know, Jim Mersay is, you know, obviously a billionaire, and he's done a lot of great things. And there are people that I know that know him that say he really does know football. But he had a couple of comments yesterday at the press conference like, you know, Jeff Saturday was a consultant.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Now he's a coach. And I think, if it was that easy, then there'd be a lot of consultants lining up for head coaching jobs in the NFL. I like Jeff Saturday. We both know him. He's a great guy. It felt a little rudderless yesterday, like a press conference. Maybe the PR people were clenching their teeth on. It doesn't look very attractive to me.
Starting point is 00:06:50 If I was a coaching candidate, what do you make of what's happening there in Indy? Yeah, I don't be honest. I didn't see the entire press conferences, I've been bits and pieces. I think bigger picture. It's surprising to me considering who he fired. Frank, yes, underachieving.
Starting point is 00:07:06 It's been a couple years of tough sledding. I get all that. But you couldn't find a better man in this business than Frank Reich. And a guy that really could carry you through a valley. Now, they weren't starting to climb the hill yet out of the valley. However, if you're going to trust a person to lead your organization to get you through tough times, I can't think of what I'd rather have than Frank Reich. So moving on this quickly from a man of his character, his background, what he's done for this franchise,
Starting point is 00:07:32 surprised me. Now, going to a Jeff Saturday, like you said, we both know him. He's a fantastic leader. His reputation's impeccable. I think he's a big thinker. I think he'll go in there and know what he's not. He's not a play caller. He's not a play caller. He's not a play designer. He's not going to change their schemes, but he's an empowerer. He's going to go in there and empower guys to do their jobs better. The thing does seem funky. I agree, and I'm surprised it was Frank Reich. They let go. However, of all the people to replace him, I think Jeff Saturday is probably the guy that can help settle the ship to a certain degree. You know, you played for the Bucks and the Ravens and the Seahawks, Browns, Niners. So you know what it's like to go to a new organization,
Starting point is 00:08:12 a new owner, a new culture. And I said, you know, Derek Carr has now voiced. You know, concerns. Nine years, six coaches. I've always loved Derek. You know, Fresno state guy like Trent Dilfer. So I've always liked him. And I think he needs stability and a fresh start. You know, the Benson family, maybe the Saints, something. I also think the Raiders are bad and have the third pick and they need a lot of picks because the defense hasn't been good forever. And I look at it and I think it may not be the worst thing for Derek to have some continuity. it may not be a terrible thing for the Raiders to just get four extra picks. I think there's a market for Derek Carr.
Starting point is 00:08:50 I would love if I was the Jets or what do you make of that situation now that Derek's going public with some of his frustration? Generally, Trent, if you go public with stuff, you're ticked off. That's a fair assessment. For a mature professional like Derek Carter go public with anything, there is some built-up stuff. Yes. That's a fact. Derek's, again, it seems like it's talked about the best dudes in the NFL day. Derek Clark is one of the best dudes in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:09:21 He's one of the most revered players on his team. He's respected. He's been very productive. And he loves the Raiders. Like, he just loves being a Raider. I don't think there's a Raider that loves being a Raider more than Derek. For those reasons, I think he should stay and have the chance to get through this. Again, so often we forget that there's storms that hit us in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:09:41 And we all want to call it a, you know, a hurricane that just blew up a whole storm. city when really that's not what these are. These are really tough stretches. There's storms you go through. You can get through them. And then there's light at the end of the tunnel. So I'd like to see him get through that. However, I also agree with you, there are some places New Orleans being one that would be a jackpot. I'm not a Zach Wilson believer. I do not think this is going to get better in New York anytime soon. And they've built a team now that could be a winner. I could see him in New York. I could see him thriving in New York. So yeah, I think there's a real market for him, but I'd love to see him stay a writer. Yeah, that's interesting. You know, we ask so much of our players to invest their lives,
Starting point is 00:10:22 they buy homes, their kids gets into school, but it's not fair. This sport's not fair. There are bad owners, and there are bad coaches, and they're impulsive people. I've always felt bad for Derek Carr. I've always felt he dropped, he was, you know, a little ignored in college. I just, I root for guys to get good ownership and stability, because as you know, I mean, you had Bucks, Ravens, Seahawks, Browns, Niners. So the Ravens were very, very well run. Paul Allen was a lie. So Seattle was pretty well run for you, weren't they?
Starting point is 00:10:56 Yeah, I saw both ends, but I would say this. I sat next to Steve Young for nine years of ESPN. He's were my dearest friends, and I learned more about life and football than any person I've ever been around. And he would tell you the number one thing in an NFL organization is ownership. It is the thing we don't talk enough about. It's because a lot of people talking about it don't know about it. But great ownership from the top down is what allows a quarterback to thrive.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Not just survive, not just meander, but really thrive. And if you go to the Hall of Fame quarterbacks, the best of the best, look who their owner was at that period of their career. And you'll see great ownership for the most part. Finally, you and I both spent time in Tampa. When Tommy got that ball back with a minute left, I thought, oh, this has been the Rams afternoon. Tom's going to steal it. You know, anytime you go through a divorce, that thing has been going on for nine months to a year. You don't have, like, those people are worth hundreds of millions.
Starting point is 00:11:56 So Tommy was dealing with that for nine months and didn't tell anybody. And now there's probably a little bit of a weight off his shoulders. how do you look? I feel like I kind of know who's really special and who's not. Tampa is my mystery. I like so many players, but I just don't. It just feels like it's so hard this year.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Where are you on the bucks? I feel exactly the same way. It just feels hard. I mean, everything about this year for them has been like pulling teeth. I think Sunday was a. turning the corner moment. I think it breathes life into some of the fatigue. I think this team has felt.
Starting point is 00:12:40 However, I'm not put him as a Super Bowl contender. I think they turn the corner enough to make a run to get in the playoffs, and they're going to be a hard out in the playoffs. But I heard you before I came on talking about the NFC. The NFC has gotten stronger as the year has gone on. I would not put them in one of the top six teams, and for sure I would not put them, even with the goat as a team that could finish the race.
Starting point is 00:13:04 Yeah. Trent Dilfer is podcast, Beyond the X's and O's with Trent Dilfer, Lipscomb Academy head football coach, Nashville, Tennessee. I'm surprised you're not out there. We got practice today? Practice in about two hours. All right. Push him hard today, Trent. Don't be as softy.
Starting point is 00:13:22 We're going to crush him today, Paul. We're going to crush him today. Good seeing you, Trent Dilfer. He loves coaching. coaching. It's fun. That's why when McVeigh says, I may retire.
Starting point is 00:13:35 Man, Pete Carroll's 70. He's having so much fun, isn't he? He's got a fun team. You think Cliff Kingsbury's having fun in Arizona? That's a great point. One more herd? The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week within the IHard Radio app.
Starting point is 00:13:51 Search Herd to listen live or on demand whenever you'd like. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
Starting point is 00:14:15 I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me. Cliver Taylor, the podcast. forth. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football,
Starting point is 00:14:36 or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. Listen to The Clifford Show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
Starting point is 00:15:34 I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam Jett. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because.
Starting point is 00:15:56 of crack. I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Starting point is 00:16:16 Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests.
Starting point is 00:16:41 I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
Starting point is 00:17:02 because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing,
Starting point is 00:17:18 growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, learn the hard way. Open your free, our heart radio app, Search learn the hard way and listen now. J. Mack with the news. That's a great point. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news.
Starting point is 00:17:34 All teams are fun. Dan Campbell. Well, I am a master of the segue. Let's start with Kyler Murray and the Cardinals. Brutal loss to Seattle, 31, 21, they've lost 4 or 5, Colin. I hate to report this. The season's over for Arizona.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Their schedule. Are you ready for this? Okay. Coming up next. Rams, it's a tough one. Rams historically have owned them. Yeah, McVeigh's done very well against Cliff. 49ers.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Loss. Yeah, that's a loss. Chargers could be healthy by then with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, and then Patriots, Belichick. Good luck. Where's that game out? I don't know. But bottom line, Pellichick last year ate up Kylo-Marie, or maybe it was two years ago. I think Arizona's done.
Starting point is 00:18:12 So, Colin, this leads to Kyler Murray calling out the team. Here's what he had to say. Uh-oh. Everybody's got to evaluate themselves. We understand what's going on right now. as far as just playing bad football. I mean, it's not winning football. And that's the result you're going to get when you're out there doing stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:18:36 So the reports I'm hearing at Arizona are not good. What are you here? Bottom line is, Kyler Marie does not want to get hit. He got paid. He does not want to get hit. If you look at the rushing numbers, there's something suspect there. Now, last week he ran against Seattle. There's a lot of room to run.
Starting point is 00:18:51 They needed that game badly. he lost. But Colin, if you look back last year, what everything changed late in the season against the Rams, Aaron Donald just rattled him, shook him to his core, three sacks, then came to the playoff game. He didn't want the smoke.
Starting point is 00:19:05 He was ducking Aaron Donald. He tapped out late in the game and was like, no moss. I'm done. And they put in the back, like, Kyla Marie got paid. He doesn't want to get hit. He knows, I could go have a long career in baseball. What am I doing?
Starting point is 00:19:16 I'm just telling you, keep an eye on this Cliff Kingsbury, Kylea Murray situation. Because I know Cliff got paid, But, Kyler, they're not getting along. You've seen the press conferences. If you're Cliff Kingsbury, there's some good college football jobs open. What's your move?
Starting point is 00:19:30 You're going to stick with Kyler Murray? You're going to maybe just say, I'll just go to college where I can run the show and I can do my thing. I don't have to answer to some quarterback. Kingsbury, Oklahoma, head coach. Arizona State is open. He is in Arizona. He's not going to Arizona State. Cliff Kingsbury out of the NFL is going to get a big boy job.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Kingsbury to Oklahoma. He's coached in that conference. even though they're moving to the SEC, get big boy money. Oklahoma. I'm sorry, I should laugh like that. That'd be a tough one for, we know he's not the best exes and O's guy. Lane Kiffin, Lynn Kiffin had a little bit of a mess in the NFL. He did file these coaches.
Starting point is 00:20:08 I think Lane Kiffin's bouncing back way sooner than everybody thinks. Carolina job is open. They got his old quarterback, Matt Karel, sitting on the bench. You're not going to win big. Come on. I'm not saying they're going to win big, but if you're Lane Kiffin, do you want to go NFL? I'm not sure I do I don't think he did it
Starting point is 00:20:24 You're the one who says there's going to be eight jobs open Are there eight guys? No there are going to be eight jobs open but I They're not eight we know this There's not eight great candidates Right Kiffin is an offensive mind I know he struggled back in the day Everybody gets a second chance
Starting point is 00:20:38 Look at the numbers he's put up In college his offenses have been dynamic He's creative Yeah All right moving on Last week we talked about the report Of Jeff Bezos and Jayze Potentially teaming up to purchase the commanders
Starting point is 00:20:50 add another name to the list, Matthew McConaughey. All right, all right. Exploring the possibility of joining or forming an investment group, according to the New York Post. McConaughey could join the duo of Bezos and Jay-Z for a bit on the team. Everybody throw your hat in the ring, right? I like him. Best Matthew McConaughey movie ever. Go. What's the one where he lost all the weight?
Starting point is 00:21:16 Dallas Buyers Club. I thought that was great. I thought he was unbelievable. That was a good movie. What was the other movie? The only correct answer is dazed and confused, which is, I caught. Oh my gosh. Have you not seen it?
Starting point is 00:21:28 Oh! Have you seen it, Ryan? He hasn't seen it either. What? I've seen this movie like 75 times. I've never seen Raging Bull. I haven't seen that either. But the best movie I've never seen.
Starting point is 00:21:41 It might be dazed and confused. Watch it with your son. He's going to love it. I can quote the entire movie, so I don't want to watch it with you. But I've shown my kids parts of it. It's just awesome. Anyways. wrap up.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Lakers' terrible season continued last night. Lost to the Jazz. Utah. Colin, they're 2 and 8, 29% from 3. They've been housed by Utah twice in the last four, three or four games or how many ever. They played them Sunday, didn't they? They got housed again. Yeah. Former Laker KCP.
Starting point is 00:22:09 Remember that guy? Yeah. He's piling on. Here's what he said. Just watching the games, it looks like there's no basketball over there. It's just playing pickup. Hard to watch sometimes. So for me to him and LaBette.
Starting point is 00:22:20 LeBron, just get the team together, and I just want to see that spark in him again. Yeah. I don't think that spark is in LeBron. Hopefully he can get it back. Meanwhile, the Lakers, this makes no sense, but they'd shown an interest in Kyrie Irving all offseason. But following his controversial, idiotic social media post, Sam Amick reports that L.A. has significant concerns about adding Kyrie at any price. Adding the Lakers are highly unlikely destination for Kyrie Irving. Yeah, Kyrie is, I mean, I think he's a better player than Westbrook,
Starting point is 00:22:54 so I do think he would be a better fit than Westbrook, but you're, you bring Kyrie Irving in, you're bringing in a lot, you're not bringing in maturity. He's gone, you know, he's gone off the rails in last four or five years. He's just, he is a coach and a culture killer, and the Lakers have enough issues. Do they need that? I like how there are significant concerns about adding Kyrie to our locker.
Starting point is 00:23:14 I would think. I mean, if he was out of the league in six months, I wouldn't be shot. Have you seen the list of the five things that the Nets want him to do before he returns? I read it, you know, rain. I didn't, I don't remember it. It was according to one of these NBA reporters. Colin, that list essentially is saying, like, we don't want you back. We know you're not doing this.
Starting point is 00:23:33 It was pretty intense. There's no way he's doing that. No, no shot. Yeah. I think the league wants to get rid of him. Uh, J-Mac with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by.
Starting point is 00:23:45 The Herd Lye News. Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd, Weekday. in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app. Hey, what's up everybody? We're going to be sharing our real life experiences loaded with teachable moments.

What the hell does George Bush got to do with a little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam Jay. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you for finishing that sentence. Yes.
Starting point is 00:26:56 I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hard Way with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of mental health awareness, this month. I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the middle health field and conversations
Starting point is 00:27:21 with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:27:52 And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, learn the hard way. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. Well, we figured it's election day. midterms. So I thought, let's take this series.
Starting point is 00:28:20 Let's do our voting. Let's do our part, Jason McIntyre. Are you ready? I'm going to cast my vote. I got very excited. Are we ready to go? Let's rock and roll. Okay, you go first.
Starting point is 00:28:34 You tell me what you want me to do. All right. Who gets your vote for offensive rookie of the year? And I should remind you, Breece Hall, the heavy favorite, was injured for the Jets so he cannot. Really win the awarding. I'm going to vote for Kenneth Walker.
Starting point is 00:28:46 of the Seahawks. Do you know he leads all players in the NFL with six touchdowns in the fourth quarter? For a rookie worn down, wearing down, not a chance. The Michigan State Star has been a huge part of the resurgence. Two rookie tackles Kenneth Walker. He is fun to watch. Pretty good player. Yeah, pretty good player. Who gets your vote for defensive rookie of the year? This is an easy way. This is a layup, and I hope you vote the right way. Sauce Gardner, who may be the best corner in the game. 13 passes, defense, leads the NFL. He is the second highest-graded corner in the league.
Starting point is 00:29:29 By the way, this division, I got Stefan Diggs. I got those Miami guys. It's not like he's asked just sit and watch the run game. He has taken on stars in this league. He's really fun. I mean, he is, he was immediately. the minute he got into this league, the first week as a Jets fan, you're like, oh, we've found an all-time great player to position.
Starting point is 00:29:53 He's that good. It's exciting. All right, let's go to Offensive Player of the Year. This is tough. I hope you don't do what I think you're going to do. I'm going to go with Tyreek Hill of the Dolphins. Oh, wow. I think he's been incredible.
Starting point is 00:30:06 That's a shocking vote. Most receiving yards through nine games in the Super Bowl era. And by the way, he just got to the team. New quarterback, new coach. Schedule hasn't been easy. the NFL, not only leads the NFL in yards over 1,000, he leads it by almost 250 yards. So nobody is close to his impact right now, to me, individually. And that's with at least two games with like the backup or the third string quarterback.
Starting point is 00:30:31 All right, defensive player of the year. Now, I don't know if you can vote for Sauce Gardner again, but. Micah Parsons, Dallas Cowderman. Oh, yeah, that's an easy one. I mean, let's be honest. Leads the NFL, four games, multiple sacks, eight sacks, 20 pressures. And here's the thing. Even amongst top pass rush protectors, for his size, he overpowers guys that weigh 50, 60 pounds more than he does.
Starting point is 00:30:58 He is your classic game wrecker. You can put him inside, outside, blitz coverage. He is a complete, from day one in this league like Sauce Gardner, total difference makes. Like Lawrence Taylor out there. Your vote for coach of the year. It came down to Brian Dable and Pete Carroll, and I'm going to give it to the 70-year-old Pete Carroll, because I do believe they're the, they only return to 11 to 22 starters. This is a brand-new team with a quarterback who is viewed as a bust. It's also a tough division.
Starting point is 00:31:31 Do you know Gino Smith? This is insane. Gino Smith's completion percentage is over 73% by far and away the best in the league. You've got to admit. Now, Pete may not be an offensive coordinator, but I mean, this is really, he returned only half his starters, 11 and 22. Two rookies it tackles. Rookies everywhere.
Starting point is 00:31:55 Corners, pass rushers. Enough Seahawks' love for the show. Who gets your vote for MVP? I wonder if that Josh Allen injury in the struggles the last week and a half matter. Most valuable player to me, I'm going to be honest with you, because the record, he's so valuable to have a loss. Jalen Hertz. We have to be honest.
Starting point is 00:32:16 11 and 0 in his last 11 starts, 68% completion percentage, pass a rating almost 108. I think even more than Josh Allen. I think he's the soul of the team. Not just like Josh Allen's the most valuable player on that team. I think this team is overlooked
Starting point is 00:32:33 and I think he embodies that. Nick Seriani's overlooked. Jalen Hertz is overlooked. And I think the players feed off that. In Buffalo, they rely. on Josh Allen. In Philly, they feed off Jalen Hertz. And that to me is true value. He's also got a very smooth, gritty. That touchdown dance? I like it. Jalen Hertz, good stuff. All right, come back player of the year, Colin. This is the easy one. Gino Smith.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Oh, geez. How many awards this guy going to win? Well, I mean, he was a... He got to admit. It's the show. He leads the NFL. You know, he has the highest passer rating ever in Seahawk history at 106? Dave Craig. No, Gino Smith. And I will say this. He's always been big and can move. move. But when people have called you a bust and you've been a backup, how you've got to get your mind right to be the guy. And I don't know. I've seen him have a couple of plays this year when you're like he's reverting back to Gino. And then the next drive, he flips it immediately, goes down the field. That's real composure. He couldn't have done that six years ago.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Like he's really grown as a human being. Pretty cool to watch. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Who gets your vote for who will finish with the most regular season? It's very scheduling dependent. Yeah, you predicted this very early. It's the Eagles. I mean, you said in week two, you're like, Colin, who do they play? Now, I will say their division is tougher than we think. But here's the thing I like about Philly.
Starting point is 00:33:55 They're a balanced team. Unlike Buffalo, they can run it, they can pass it, they play defense, they have a pass rush. I feel like Buffalo is one of those teams. Buffalo is talented but not balanced. I think Philadelphia right now is the most balanced team. straight drop RPO. He can run, he can throw. By the way, the tight end weapons they have, now they've added receiving weapons. This offense is a handful. Miles Sanders.
Starting point is 00:34:23 He's a good running back. All right, who gets your vote for the team that will finish with the fewest regular season wins? Currently, I think it's a Texans? Texans. Yeah. So Davis Mills, although he has moments when he's protected, you know, he's 315 and one. They have the lowest projected win total. Only thing they have going
Starting point is 00:34:42 for them, it's a wonky division. But, you know, he probably, Davis Mills is probably a really talented backup. He throws a nice ball. They have a real, Pierce, love him. That was the Florida running back. He's on my fantasy team. I know you care.
Starting point is 00:34:58 But he wasn't used as much at Florida as you think based on what we see in the NFL, but I'd say Houston. Oh, this is an interesting, interesting one. Who gets your vote for the California team that finishes with the best record. Gavin Newsom. What, team?
Starting point is 00:35:15 49ers because they're getting healthy. They're getting Debo back. They're getting Elijah Mitchell back. Kyle Eusecheck back. The Rams, as you've noted, they're hard to watch. They just have nothing left at all. So that's just, and the thing about the Chargers is I like them, but man, I don't trust them.
Starting point is 00:35:37 I don't trust the Chargers. All right, let's go to another state. I got a lot of relatives watching in Florida, duh. Your vote for the Florida team that finishes with the best record. Don't say the dolphins, dude. Duh. Not to stand us. Dauphans.
Starting point is 00:35:52 Ah, come on. Listen, the December schedule is brutal. They're scoring a ton of points. What do you want me to do? They added Bradley Chubb, which I think is like totally, we all know Bradley Chubbs good. But that is now, that is a, I'm a, That was the one thing I got a call from somebody in the league. And we were talking about the trade deadline.
Starting point is 00:36:14 He goes, does everybody understand how good Bradley Chub is? He's like, that is a huge get for that organization. And he is. I mean, he didn't show it against Justin Fields, but I digress. All right, we got to get to the last one because it's very important. Who gets your vote for the New York team, not name the bills that finishes with the best record? Give this some thought, Cowherd. You already snubbed one New York team in the herd hierarchy.
Starting point is 00:36:35 Well, the Giants. No, I mean, their only losses are to the Seahawks in Seattle and the Cowboys. And I think Daniel Jones is growing. And I think Zach Wilson, they're hiding him. Growing like as a player or as his height? What is he growing? No, I think, I believe that Brian Daibol trust Daniel Jones much more than the jet staff trust Zach Wilson. I would agree.
Starting point is 00:37:02 And I think Daniel Jones has limitations, but doesn't he's, remember when he first came in the league? he was very turnover prone, fumble prone. Like four years. He doesn't feel, I don't know what the numbers say, but he doesn't feel like he's that much of a liability anymore. So, and by the way, the Giants, go look at the Giants' upcoming schedule. Easy? Easier, it looks like to me.
Starting point is 00:37:24 They haven't played the Eagles yet, have they? You know what? With that D-line, they, I think they match up with the Eagles. Interesting. They won't beat them. They match up with them. Yeah. Hey, Dolphins Browns this weekend.
Starting point is 00:37:37 cowherd. Have you seen that? Brown's going on the road to Miami. Stafansky. Off a bye. I'll keep my eye on that. Miami Kid on. That was good. We all have our different ideas about success. We achieve it at different times. Midwest-based Steeful Financial Advisors, S-T-I-F-E-L. Check them out. Starting point is 00:38:11 Don't do it alone. You can't afford to make mistakes. All right, we're all voting. It's the mid-season midterms. I will say this, man, we've got some good young players in this league. Sauce Gardner's, your Micas. There are some talent, man. First thing's first around the corner live in L.A.
