This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's
superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast. Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan,
so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes.
Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away,
such as the biology of tauntons and wampas on the ice planet hot,
or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule.
of two. Listen to Stuff to Bole Your Mind on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every

All right. C&R. Cavino and Rich in for the great Colin Cowherd on the herd.
Hour three. What a week, huh? We did the Dan Patrick Hattrick on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Colin on Thursday. Back to normal tomorrow.
Back to normal man. For me, this feels like a Friday. But Thursday is the new Friday.
So start your weekend today. Enjoy your Cerva.
and Vatos Locos Forever.
That, what he said.
Yes, I'm Steve Kavino.
That is Rich Davis.
Danny G. is here.
Ryan's got your update spots on the videos.
Again, at Covino and Rich, if you want to play along at home, and at Fox Sports Radio.
And every Thursday on our show, which normally airs from, again, 2 to 5 on the West, 5 to 7 on the east.
He just said 2 to 4.
I'm sorry, Rich, should I hurt your feelings?
No, but...
I'm sorry, you little sports baby.
You never misspeak.
I'm sorry to let you down.
He got all defensive, right?
Real quick.
It's so quick.
It's 5 to 7 p.m. in New York City.
It's not like my dad who never understands.
I've been in California for 15 years.
My daughter is 14, right?
My dad, I'm like, hey, what time is it over there?
Dad.
Three hours.
Minus three hours.
Yeah, so it was 9 o'clock here.
What time is it over there again?
That means it 6 o'clock here.
And what time is it?
Same.
Never changes.
Always three hour difference.
But anyway, wherever you are, thank you,
for rocking out with us. What I was saying is, on our show every Thursday, which airs from
two to four on the west, five to seven on the east, we throw it back on Thursday's old
school and 50 hits, and Danny G. presented us with this ridiculous, ridiculous advertisement.
And we're going to talk rip-offs. So be dialing again. 818-907-0-0-6062.

So, Kirk Cameron, former 80s icon, who can't? I loved growing paints. I did. I loved.
I was all about it. He ain't got real religious. No knock on him there. But he took a different career
Well, it's no knock on him, but it sort of derailed all his Hollywood hype.
Right, right.
When you're like the super religious guy, but also trying to be the heartthrob.
Now he's pushing this children's television show, and no hate on that either.
Not hating.
Just explaining.
When you think Kirk Cameron.
I'm not hating, I'm just stating.
When you think Kirk Cameron, I'm thinking, obviously, growing pains.
But what else, really?
Because when you think back, like, is he still, there's no way he can live off of growing pains money for the last 40 years.
Tiger Beat.
the cover of every teen magazine growing up.
Was there a lot of other Kurt Cameron stuff?
No, I mean, not that I remember,
but he's producing now a children's show.
And the caption here on this meme says,
no offense to Kirk Cameron,
but he's producing this new kid's show
and the puppet is supposed to be an iguana.
But why do I get the feeling?
He may be hearing from, I don't know, Muppet fans.
And it's because...
Muppet lawyers.
Muppet lawyers.
Not fans, lawyers.
Jim Henson, that family's already making the calls.
This iguana, quote unquote,
iguana Muppet for the kids,
looks exactly like a little Muppet baby of Kermit.
It looks like Kermit.
So it got us thinking on a throwback Thursday,
the rip-offs, the poor man's blank.
And to be fair, we'll say,
hey, a lot of people call us the poor man's Zach and Slater.
The poor man's Mark Paul Gossler and Mario Lopez,
Cavino and Rich.
Some could say that.
when I think rip-offs and
bootlegs and
like the bunk versions of things
You can think all you want
I have the number one answer
of all time
I've got the number one answer
I'll check with Steve Harvey, hold on
Well take your phone calls at 818907
What is it?
Yeah again
818907-0062
You can call in
You can chime in
The most inclusive show and radio
According to us
But I'm telling you I got the number one example
Get it out of the way then
Because I feel like there's
there's a handful of them.
I'm going to write, I want to see if I could read your mind.
Hold on.
I'm going to see if I could guess what you're going to say.
You're going to guess what I'm going to be like that, who's the guy that made the rounds at Meteorrell?
The mentalist guy?
That guy?
Yeah.
Let me see if your eyebrows are moving.
Hold on.
Let me see.
A, B, C, D, F TV.
All right, I got the answer.
I got the answer.
Now, there's a little like side nugget to the story.
I don't know if you know this, Rich, but on the side, I'm a bit of a toy historian.
Some of you may have seen me on history channels.
Boys that built America?
Same guy.
I did see you on that.
Yeah.
Now, the misconception is GoBots were the poor man's transformer.
Because think about it when you were a kid.
I feel like we're on the newlywade game.
You wrote it down?
I just held up my piece of paper.
Look, Danny.
Okay.
GoBots.
But here's the misconception.
The misconception is Go bots actually came out first.
I know.
Okay.
But when you think about how they marketed and how cheaply they were made,
we had this assumption back then as kids
that they were the poor man's transformers
and if you wanted Optimus Prime
if you wanted any transformer growing up
Soundwave
And you got a go bot
The chinty plastic weak-ass
Childlike scooter whatever that was
You got a weak-ass go-bot
In your mind early on
You're like my parents are cheap
Santa was whack this year
and I got the bootleg version
of the transformer. So I think
that's the number one answer on the board
even though it did come out first.
Okay. But so did
Hydrox to your Oreo.
Dude!
I wrote down Hydrox. I'm winning this
round of Family View. Oh, okay. There you go.
Show me your Hydrox.
For Oreos, I have cream betweens.
Oh, that must have been in the hood.
I don't know. Those are what?
The generic ones? Those are the tastios?
Cheerios?
B-Tweens.
No, the Oreo
knockoff.
Wow, that's hilarious.
I got a couple in the TV world.
Cream betweens.
That sounds a little perverted.
Cream between.
They got discontinued.
That sounds like a weekend plan.
I don't know about a cookie.
When I think of everyone rocking
starter jackets when I was a kid, right?
Yeah, I had the pullover
with the pouch.
Kavino swears by the Raiders one with the zipper.
But I feel like the pullover was the one.
Rich and I, it's a side debate.
We debate on what the starter jacket was.
Like when you say starter jacket, what pops in your head?
You're saying the zip-up Raiders one.
Well, I mean, it was all different teams, but it was a zip-up with a hood.
It was a zip-up jacket, coat with a hood.
I feel like maybe that couple years difference between us is that difference,
because I picture pull over.
Ryan, what do you think when I say starter jacket?
I think I go more with Kavino and the zip-up.
The zip-up, yeah.
It was just a team name in the back.
and it had the colors and the emblem on the front.
The pouch.
But the pouch.
Maybe I'd just like to carry on a bunch of little things.
Yeah.
Now.
Which would keep his snack packs in there.
It's where you put your funnions.
Did I put his dunkeroo's?
Dunkeroo's in the little front pouch.
So when kids had started jackets,
I remember my buddy Bill came into school one day.
He's like, what do you think?
And he had an apex jacket.
Oh, yeah.
And no offense to apex, but I never be able to.
I would win them on the boardwalk.
I'm like, you know what he had?
He had a Duke University.
I had a Georgetown.
I didn't rule for Georgetown.
I had a Georgetown Apex.
Apex is definitely the poor man starter from the 90s.
Not a bad looking jacket, but I'm like,
Apex.
No, you're right.
Dude, you're right.
That's a good one.
I feel like when you were a kid,
you might disagree because I guarantee this.
People are like, no, that was the better movie.
If you love Gremlins as a kid,
I feel like critters or goolies.
They were like bootleg glee.
And you know what it comes down to?
It comes down to, there was a successful product, and people said, well, there's more money to be made.
Like, to me, who came first?
Adam's family or Munsters?
You know, I think they came out around the same time, but I think that's another misconception.
I think the Adams family came out, like, slightly before.
I'm talking conceptual stuff.
But I look at as the Munsters as the OG, awesome one.
Conceptual stuff, there's always a second one that's like, well, again, there's money to be made here.
based on that GoBots Transformers analogy
someone said
Someone hit us up saying
Even when Transformers was dominating
GoBots made half a billion dollars
They still made their money
And you think to yourself
Hey listen if you played golf in the era of Tiger Woods
The people that still were
Coming in second or third
Still made millions of dollars
It just you were playing with Tiger Woods
You were playing with Transformers
Now there's one that comes to mind for me
When it comes to TV
shows and you could say
no dude everyone loved him
I thought because of the success
remember conceptually
because of the success
of different strokes
and
what you're talking about diggy
little African American kid
living with a white family
I was like isn't that Webster
like Webster
I thought was the
I thought was the Webster
Webster
was like
called no weight to Arnold Jackson
get out of here
Webster
yeah I'm with you
was the week
it was the bootleg version
no one said what you talking about
What's you talking about, Webster?
No, that was the bootleg version, for sure.
So again, you could turn this into a sports discussion.
Like, this guy is just a poor man's blank.
You know, there's a lot of examples.
Let me tie it to the Super Bowl.
You know, we were broadcasting for Super Bowl week,
and we saw Jason Durullo live at one of these parties.
There was a lot of people saying that he was a poor man's usher.
You know, and by the way, Derulo puts on a hell of a show.
Agreed.
But, you know, a lot of people do.
think that because he's not Usher
and Usher was the halftime performer.
But again, I'm sure there's quarterbacks
that come to mine who's so-and-so's a poor man's
this. You know, give us a call now.
818-907-0-062.
Danny G. I have a sports one.
And I'm sure these are nice guys,
but the Spanish version of
you two on ESPN television.
I love those guys, but
that's funny. Before we worked at
Fox Sports, we were at ESPN and there was
we did a show called Now or Never.
And there's two guys.
Mauricio and Hercules Gomez
who played for Team USA soccer
Which one is you and which one is you?
I'm Hercules
I was Hercules
You were Mao
Maurizio Pedroza
But I'll tell you what
You know what
Again misconception
Because their show's still on
Their show still on
Who was first?
Which same time
Yeah so but that's very funny
Ours was in English
So I could see why one would think that though
You know I'll tell you this
I feel like there's one that
You're thinking
And by the way, Deney G great dudes
I got to make that clear
Yeah they're good dudes
Now, there's a movie that was arguably one of the most impactful of the 80s.
And you make fun of the fact that my family watched a movie that you call the weak version of it.
I know what's coming.
This is the weakest.
And it's funny you should say today of all days, because I believe today, Drew Barrymore turns 49 today.
So happy birthday Drew Barrymore.
Wow.
Because when she was a little girl, she was in a movie you might have known called E.T.
She was so little
She thought E.T was real.
I know.
Yeah.
My family?
You could tell everyone.
What did my family watch?
They had on VHS and they watched it over and over again.
Their E.T was the poor man's bootleg version.
It was called Mac and Me.
My family loved Mac and Me.
One of the worst movies ever created.
Doesn't that make so much sense, Danny Me?
It can't push down the hill in the wheelchair.
There's a dance scene inside of McDonald's.
You have to YouTube it.
It's hilarious, man.
And the fake little E.T.
Keeps changing sizes during the same scene.
You know, Danny, there's a great running joke that Conan O'Brien had with Paul Rudd.
Do you know this joke?
Of course.
Paul Rudd, anytime he would go on Conan Show, Danny, he would say, yeah, I have a clip from the new movie I'm in.
And he would always play the same lame scene from Mac and Me.
He did it for years.
And he did it for at least a decade.
He's the kid in the wheelchair falling off the cliff, right?
Absolutely.
That's the one.
So Mac and Me, you know, I admit it, but I will say, at the time,
I think even as a little kid, I'm like,
mom, this seems like the weird, like,
shouldn't be watching ET?
My mom was probably like, no, Mac and me, Richie.
The poor man's version.
You know, I got another example that goes back to our earlier discussion
about setting appropriate expectations.
The under-promise over-delivered discussion we had
about the woman who said she looks like Megan Fox.
Yeah, the T-Mew version of Megan Fox.
the poor man's version of
Megan Fox. Just because
you know what, and that sucks too. That's the one
downside about resembling somebody
because they're always going to say you're the weak
version of that person,
of that celebrity. It's like
Tuesdays on our afternoon show. We call you
the broke Patrick Mahomes. Yes,
the broke Patrick Mahomes because I do the impression
of Patrick Mahomes. So
again, your phone calls and your feedback
and any sports examples
of the poor man's version of
blank.
What do you got, Ryan?
So this is actually in a good sense, and Danny G., you'll understand this.
People have always said that about Kobe comparing him to, like, a lesser version of Michael Jordan.
That is true.
Even though Kobe was obviously great in his own right, but they were like, it's kind of Michael light.
You know when it's wild when you see the side by sides of the moves?
Because Kobe studied Jordan so closely.
Like he had those moves down, and like Ryan said, respectfully, he was great in his own right.
but he wasn't Michael Jordan
at least, well, to Lakers fans
he might have been. Yeah, I mean,
Danny G. He guys, you know, had five rings
but still, there is that sense
that Kobe was
because his game was so
similar and the way he moved.
And he talked about how much he wanted to
be like Michael Jordan and study him.
Of course, of course. And like I said, the side by sides are
so on point and similar.
It's uncanny.
I'll give you two in the world of boxing.
is Kavino and Rich, I'm a big fight fan, right?
You know, when Adrian Broner, A, B, all about billions, came out,
the comparison was, oh, he's like the next Floyd Mayweather.
And it's like, yeah, the poor man's Floyd Mayweather.
Oh, and I say that respectfully, I do.
And then there's a big fight coming up on April 20th, right?
And I was thinking about this the other day.
I'm like, we got to get a show out there.
I think it's going to be at the Parkclays Center in Brooklyn.
On April 20th, you're going to be smoking.
looking that Maui-Wa-Wi and watching Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney.
And they're a modern day, but some would say, yeah, poor man's version, Timo version of when Floyd
Mayweather fought Oscar de la Hoya. Think about it. That Ryan Garcia is today's golden boy.
Devin Haney is today's Floyd Mayweather, but they're not of that caliber yet. Yet, yet. Their story
still to be written. So again, there's always
sports examples because...
I feel like when I was a kid, like, wasn't there a show
like, I dream of Jeannie?
Like, bewitched.
Yeah. I was like, oh, aren't they the same thing?
I mean, you know, they aired on
replay all the time. They were very
similar and gimmicky. A lot of times there's
a product, I guess, that works. And then there's the answer.
Yeah, exactly. And the answer to it.
So your feedback will take your calls at
what's our number here for the hurt today?
It's 818907-0062 and again,
at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio.
It's a new number.
You've got to say it slow.
818, 98, 907, 0.0662.
We need a jingle.
Call 818-907-0062 today.
Ryan Music, please hit the auto-tune button.
By the way, no one memorizes phone numbers anymore.
Is that a wild thought?
I got another one for you.
Do you know your girlfriend's number?
Yeah, I do.
Actually, I'm not going to announce it, but I do.
How about this?
It's 818.
Rich, and I'm not calling Rich out,
but Rich did his school clothes shopping at Models,
which is like Dick's sporting goods and Big Five.
You know, that's where Rich got his clothes from.
You know, and we all had him.
I'm not saying I'm above this.
But the go-to sweatshirt that you wanted was a champion sweatshirt
because it was of better quality.
But if your mom bought you that Russell Athletic,
you're like, oh, man.
Mom!
We all had them.
We had them, but it wasn't champion.
When you talk about clothes, during the break dancing craze,
parachute pants were real popular.
Do you remember the knockoff parachute pants?
Not the brand, no.
They were just knock-offs.
Kids would count the number of pockets and zippers.
And if you didn't have the right amount, they'd be like, those are fake.
Those are weak.
Yeah, well, we grew up again on the East Coast, so there was a lot of,
Guido culture was strong.
So a lot of the kids were Cavarichies, and those were the pants with the little white
label.
The weak-ass, less expensive ones,
We're bojos. I'm not even kidding you.
So again, that's what we're talking about.
Knockoffs and weak versions.
Poor man's blank, based on this Kirk Cameron character,
who looks exactly like Kermit the Frog, but it's not Kermit the Frog.
It's an iguana.
All right. So sports, movies, TV, entertainment, all the bootlegs,
the secondaries, the wishes, the, uh, the lame-ass versions of things.
We'll take your feedback.
Next, Kavino-Ritch, and for Colin on The Herd.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd.
Weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what you're saying.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered.
conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment,
and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music.
The Clivert Show isn't just a podcast, it's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't
always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger. So, if you've ever supported me,
or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be. Listen to the Cliverts Show on the
iHeart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok.
Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick you here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of
how we survived it, including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack
in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack,
so I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now, so.
Then you're finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
All right, CNR, Kavino and Rich, sitting in for Colin today on The Herd.
Always an honor to fill in for the great Colin Cowherd.
And you can hit us up.
The phones are all hot.
Let's go.
Let's, as your Uncle Joey would say, let's get involved.
Let's get involved.
Let's get involved.
And if we don't get to your phone calls,
at Covino and Rich on social media
at Fox Sports Radio
but again we're going over the bootleg versions of Blank
and Rich I think I thought of two sport ones
that no one's going to say so let me say it before we go to the calls
okay?
Bootleg version of blank
old school when 50 hits
because there's a new bootleg
children's show produced by Kirk Cameron
and it's like a bootleg version of Kermit the Frog
it's an iguana and it looks just like Kermit
looks like a market baby. It does.
All right so when I was a kid
collecting baseball cards.
Oh, what is the bootleg there?
Like Fleer?
Well, that's the Canadian...
Actually, Leif, to me, was the bootleg version of Fleer,
but that was the Canadian version.
But I always thought anything...
Anything that wasn't Topps was bootleg,
until Upper Deck came out.
And then Stadium Club?
Yeah.
That was when it got next level.
I always thought Greg Jeffries,
you're a Metz fan.
I'm sorry?
Future star, Greg Jeffries?
Yeah, remember his scorecard was a big...
Of course I did.
I always thought Greg Jeffries was a bootleg Lenny Dykstra.
Like he's the poor man's Lenny Dykstra.
I always thought that.
And as a baseball fan, I always thought, and again, these are players that are good in their own right.
So no knock here.
But I always thought Juan Pierre was a poor man's Kenny Lofton.
That's just how I felt.
Speed guy, contact guy, but he's not Kenny Lofton.
Did Jay Z shout out Kenny Lofton?
No.
Again, great in his own right.
But he's not Kenny Laugh.
You know the lyric right, Danny G?
Juan Pierre gets a shoutout, right?
And a Jay Z song?
Yeah, like Juan Pierre.
Randy Moss got shoutouts.
If you're an athlete with a shoutout
in a song, I don't think you're a bootleg anything.
Well, he's not getting a lot of then, that's my point.
So go to your phone calls.
I got more examples for days.
You know what?
I'm going to go to all these phone calls.
We'll go rapid fire, but there's a category we're forgetting
because this is one of the funnier categories of bootleg stuff.
Serial.
Are you okay?
with supermarket cereal.
Like, instead of...
I brought up to tastioes before.
Instead of Cocoa Krispies,
are you okay with cocoa rice?
You know what I do, though?
Here's a fun thing.
Are you okay with cinnamon crunch?
Are you okay with
Barry Kids Crunch instead of Captain Crunch?
Are you okay with fruit rounds
instead of fruit loops?
Can I give you Steve Kavino's
baller on a budget, poor man tip of the day?
What I would do.
Are you going to tell
for years?
Everyone what you did to your daughter
without her knowing? Oh, I would do this with
Kirkland brand conditioners.
I would do this with all sorts of things.
But I would take, she liked
Frosted Flakes, right?
I would keep the box, the
original Frosted Flake Box, but I would replace
it with like whatever they called it, the generic
version of that all the time. Oh, you don't want her going back to her mom's
house saying, Dad can't afford good cereal?
Yeah, get out of here. Yeah, I would do that all the time.
So you just keep the original box
or, like I said, she would want a specific type of
conditioner all the time. I would refill
that with Kirkland brand all the time.
I'm not even kidding you. Steve Kavino's
Cheapeskate, tip of the day.
So again, the weak version of blank.
What you got, Ryan?
Kavino, the ultimate move in college
was if you came about like a nice
bottle of alcohol and you
kept the bottle and you bought
the cheap stuff and poured it back into the
nice bottle. You're pouring tequila
out of a plastic jug.
Ryan, into a nice... When the guys are around,
no one cares. Plastic bottle,
whatever. But the girls come around.
Break out the old nice bottle. Let's go.
Ryan, not only in college would you do that.
That's a great tip, I believe.
But, you know, they do that on vacation in Mexico.
Without a doubt.
All the time.
I just came back from Mexico.
I'm not calling them out.
Vatos locals forever.
But they do that all the time.
Your friend, John Taffer, has busted bars on bar rescue for doing it.
Without a doubt, I've been to places, and I'm no alcohol of fissuernado.
I'm not.
You could fool me.
But I could tell when something's cheap.
And there have been times where he has for a kessian.
or a Titos of vodka.
And you're like,
this tastes like rubbing alcohol.
This is not,
this is not...
C, C, C, CITOS.
No, I'm sorry,
Senor, it's not...
It's okay, it's okay.
Never trust a Vato that says,
It's okay.
And that's coming from a half-breed Vato Loco here, Steve Covino.
Ryan brings us back to the college days
because I remember we would throw parties
at my college house.
We would always buy a decent beer
for the first keg.
And then any keg after that first one,
the cheap stuff.
Like the cheapest of cheap.
And that's kind of where this is.
Do you feel like Josh Lucas, the actor, is a poor man's Matthew McConaughey?
One thousand percent.
That's where we're getting at, okay?
You know, I've watched movies and thought it was Matthew McConaughey.
It was Josh Lucas.
You know, there's people that make a living off of being bootleg people.
I mean, look at all the Elvis impersonators.
Danny Gee, you were saying at the Super Bowl, we just got back from Vegas.
Not only do we see Elvis impersonators, the fake Andy Reid does press.
I saw the fake Andy Reid signing autographs and taking.
selfies with fans outside
the convention center who thought it was really
Andy Reed. There was to fake Clay Thompson
that Clay Thomas that
Yeah, Clay Thompson for the Warriors.
Went into the arena. Remember
he got past all the guards and he started shooting around
They're like, wait a minute. He was the bootleg version.
Is that Clay Thompson?
Wait a minute. Security allowed
him to drive into the player only
entrance. And you know how that happens? Because everyone
says to the guy, yo,
you know who you look like? But the
bootleg version. Now let's go to the phone calls
because I don't want to give way everybody's answer.
Let's get interactive, Rich.
Are we the great value version of Colin?
Are we the private selection?
What is that?
When you go to the supermarket, you're like,
do I need the, do I, you know what?
There are things where you,
if you don't buy the cheaper brand,
you're almost like, what are you doing?
Like syrup, like maple syrup.
That's expensive stuff.
So you buy the cheap generic?
I don't buy the sugar stuff,
but private selection, great value.
All right, let's go to.
in San Diego. What's up, Kev?
Hey, Kevin.
Hey, guys.
Really love listening to you.
Oh, thanks, man.
Appreciate that.
So, I got two.
I used to sell shoes.
So one is the four-striped Adidas.
Yeah, those are, where do you get them?
At pay-least?
Pay-Last used to sell.
Yeah, yeah.
Abibus.
And then the other one is after the Jordan Ones came out,
I feel like back in the day,
it must have been like pro-wings or some brand like that,
but I think every brand in their and their dog is knocked that one off.
Yo, there was a viral funny thing like a year or so ago.
Do you remember the company that was selling bootleg Jordans,
but you were calling them Derry Air Jordans?
Because the Jordan logo looked like a guy with a big ass?
Had an ass crack.
Yeah, yeah.
The Jumpman had an ass crack.
The jump man does not have an ass crack.
And by the way, he brought up such a good one.
We called them jeepers growing up.
You know, someone shows up with, or Bobos.
You show up with a four-striped Adidas sneaker that you,
know you bought it pay least
pay less
you're like what that's a major
what are those for sure and look
I'm not knocking anybody but that's the
weak version of the Adidas
you're not rocking the new
Trump's the new never surreters
you know why because they're like $10,000
now mark you're on in Huntington Beach
what's up man
hey you know McDonald's has what
$4 billion served or whatever they do
you gotta figure like McDonald's
got to be up to a few million by now right
are you kidding the golden arcs
yeah that's
one of the best rip-offs of all time.
Let's go to your
Greg in Seattle.
What's up, Greg?
Hey, fellas, love the show.
Thank you, man.
I got a couple for you.
And you touched on one of them earlier,
with jackets and starter jackets.
One that you didn't hit was chalk line.
You were a clown if you were caught wearing a chalkline jacket.
And then what the kids now call reps for, you know,
Jordan knockoffs,
there was XJ-900s, which you could also find out,
I think, pay least.
Oh, please.
That's so funny.
Thanks for the call, Greg.
Appreciate you, man.
Yes, thank you very much.
Chris in L.A.
What's up, buddy?
Hey, hey, real quick.
Couple things.
Yeah, there are a lot of businesses and bars that sell imitation or knockoff alcohol.
I'm a lawyer, and I've had a client that got in trouble for that.
But what I once says, you guys got me thinking about the Adams family and the monster, so I had to look it up.
Even though the Adams family had a comic strip since the 30s, they both premiered on TV within six days of each other.
and they both only went for two years.
So that's kind of crazy.
I don't know which was a knockoff with the other.
Yeah.
By the way, you ever think of how wild it is, Chris,
that we look back at some of these shows that we feel like,
they felt like they were on forever?
Yeah.
But they were only a couple years.
Only a couple of years.
They keep replaying them.
That was a big thing.
They keep replaying them.
But yeah, only a couple of years.
I had no idea.
Great show, guys.
Thank you so much.
You made me think, and Danny made me think of two other ones that I often reference.
You know, if you grew up an 80s kid,
every cool dude wore a member's only jacket members only and their their slogan was when you put it on
something happens right you're the member and i want some people are still waiting for something to
happen or when you put it when you put it on something happens or something happens when you put it on
i forget it was something like that right happens is you have extra material on each show
that's what happens so i wanted one so bad because every 80s cool dude i knew had a members of
Only jacket. My parents, I don't know
why they did this to me growing up because
I was a spoiled kid, but they were cutting corners
here and there thinking I wouldn't notice or something.
They bought me one and I was so pumped
and said, locals only.
I was like, locals only, so
weak. And you know you're going to get made fun of.
And as a kid who grew up in the 90s and you
wanted to hook up your car system,
your booming system, I remember
specifically wanting all Sony products.
And I know there was Ken Woods
and other brands that you
probably swear by Pioneer and all that.
But I wanted Sony, right?
And I remember going there, and the dude installed a blau-punked 10-disc-changer.
And I'm like, dude, blout-punked?
That's whack.
And the guy convinced me, he's like, no, no, because it's all the same parts.
It's Sony, but it's blout-punk.
But in my mind, I'm like, you gave me the bootleg Sony.
Blow-punked.
Yeah, it was blout-punked.
It wasn't that bad.
It could have been Radio Shack's realistic.
The realistic brand is whack.
Realistic by Radio Shack.
You may say, dude.
Not at all.
But based on style and based on vibe,
we just got done watching that We Are the World documentary.
Yeah.
Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson.
It was great.
If you haven't watched it, if you need something to watch
and you're caught up on all your sports,
Netflix, We Are the World, fantastic.
Is Cindy Lopper slightly bootlegged Madonna?
Or do you not look at it that way?
I think John Mellencamp is bootleg Springsteen.
Ooh, that's a good one. Now, again, there's going to be people that want to punch me through the radio right now.
Yeah. But is Prince slightly Michael Jackson bootleg? No, no, I'm just saying.
Because I think of Prince as a master guitarist. I agree. You know, that's a bad one. I take it back.
But a lot of the people we named are successful and great in their own right, but they're not that other version.
So I could see how you would think that. But yeah, Prince held his own because he was a great musician.
we'll go to the phones to wrap it up.
818-907-0-0-062.
I'm sorry.
8-1-A has gone.
Don't even try.
Let's go to Ryan for the Hurd-Line News.
What's up, Ryan?
Turn on the news.
This is the Hurd-Line News.
All right, guys, turn our attention to the NBA to start here.
Jalen Brunson, having a great career since he's really entered the league, but become
All-Star since joining the Knicks.
He was on the All the Smoke podcast with Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes.
Talking about his departure from Dallas, he said, I really did want to stay.
Before my fourth season in Dallas, my last season, we tried to extend our contract, whatever we can get.
The most we can get is like four years for $55 million.
And obviously, we wanted to do that.
We wanted to stay there.
We wanted to go there for a long time.
I liked my role there.
And then revealed that he was turned down twice.
by the Mavericks twice.
And so obviously the Mavericks, they ended up trading for Kyrie Irving.
They missed the playoffs last year, having a bit of a bounce back year.
But a lot of people feeling hurt about the fact that Brunson openly tried to advocate for staying with Dallas and they let him go.
You know, it's interesting when you think about Brunson, the NBA is always a little more exciting when the Knicks,
when something's going on in New York.
Because there's a lot of great basketball cities will end up.
expanding that in a couple years, you know,
Vegas, a couple of cities up for teams.
But when the Knicks are good, it just brings another layer.
And how great would it be if he had another star with him there in New York?
Like, don't you feel like the Knicks are sort of thirsty for just someone else there as well?
Without a doubt.
Like, there's no question.
Like, when was the last, I mean, you could say the 90s in 2000s, but to me,
the last time the Knicks had like a face, face to the organization, it wasn't Carmelow even in my mind.
It was Patrick Ewing.
That was the last time I feel like the Knicks were, right?
That was the last face.
You could tell me Alan Houston.
No, you can tell me a bunch of people.
Insanity.
Yeah, insanity.
Insanity was a good two weeks.
To be fair, Julius Randall is on the shelf.
He's injured right now.
So when he comes back, that's going to be great for New York.
Yeah.
They're just like one little, there's something, they're missing something.
Yeah.
I mean, Julius Randall is your typical.
as a two, the Knicks have been good.
If he becomes your three or your four,
that's how you become a great team.
Yeah, I feel like the Knicks.
You don't want to be trapped.
The equivalent in the NFL would be like
when you're perpetually 9 and 8, 8 and 9, 7 and 10, 10 and 7.
You're not bad enough to revamp,
but you're not good enough to ever win.
And that's a weird, like, purgatory to be in.
Sure.
Let's turn our attention to soccer.
Now, probably not something we discussed very much,
but I'm actually going to tie it into something
we had discussed earlier on the show.
It was Lionel Messi's game with Inter-Miamy FC, getting a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake.
As he now continues his career in the MLS.
He had some ridiculous, highlight-worthy plays.
As I said, they got the 2-0 victory.
So earlier, we talked about legends or games that you missed or players or bands you didn't get to see.
I wonder how many people are going to look back on this and go,
I can't believe Messi is here.
the United States playing games and
five, ten years from now you're going to be like, why
didn't I go? Why didn't I just go? That's
why I'm proud to say
Rich and I and Spani, we all got together
and we used our connections to
go see his debut at L-AFC
when he came to L.A. last year.
And we're not big soccer fans,
but it was awesome.
I'll be honest. I'm not a, that
soccer is not in my top
three sports I watch.
But you know what? We went just for that reason.
Going to Lafc just because I was, I was one
the bozos that was like, Messies in Los Angeles, we have to go. We gotta go. Yeah, no. And
I'm starting to feel like if he ends up not playing in the next two, three, I don't know exactly
how long he plans on playing, I'm gonna be like, I can't believe I didn't take the shit. Just imagine
you were there and it's the same thing. As Camino's friend does. Or lie, you could lie. You can lie.
You can lie about it. Yeah, 100%. And we'll wrap up with this one, which I kind of find myself saying,
wow, I can't believe this is where we're at.
You know, we have some star athletes who are now retired or not really playing at the top of their game,
even like Marvin Harrison and now his son Marvin Harrison Jr.
going to be a top pick in the draft.
Today, Charlie Woods, Tiger Woods' son, at the age of 15, played in his first ever PGA tour pre-qualifier event.
He didn't necessarily fare that well.
He finished 16 over.
He's 15 years old.
whatever, who care. I'm not really going to sit here
and talk about how he played.
But kind of crazy that we are now at the point
to where Tiger Woods' son
is getting ready to play
professional golf. I hate that.
It just makes us awful
feel like we're getting older.
When Ken Griffey
Jr., when we were little kids... I hope he doesn't have
18 little girlfriends.
Just like...
Fowls in the footsteps.
Man. Well, anyway,
thank you, Ryan, for the herdline news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Heard Lye News.
All right.
Well, hey, to wrap the show in a little bit, I do want to talk about some NFL
because there's obviously so many questions.
The draft hasn't happened yet.
No combine.
None of this yet.
We still have a sense of what are the storylines going into next year?
The Mahomes rules.
There's a bunch of storylines.
What teams should be excited?
We'll get to all that.
We'll have a little recap of what's doing in the NFL next.
It's Kavino and Rich in for Colin on the herd.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific.
Hey, we're Kavino and Rich.
Fox Sports Radio every day, 5 to 7 p.m. Eastern.
But here's the thing.
We never have enough time to get to everything we want to get to.
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called Overpromised.
You see, we're having so much fun in our two-hour show.
We never get to everything.
Honestly, because this guy is overpromising things we never have time for.
Yeah, you blubberlips.
Blame and me.
Well, you know what?
It's called over-promise.
You should be good at it because you've been over-promising women for years.
Well, it's a Kavino and Rich after show, and we want you to be a part of it.
We're going to be talking sports, of course.
But we're also going to talk life and relationships.
And if Rich and I are arguing about something or we didn't have enough time, it will continue on our after show called Over-Promised.
Well, if you don't get enough, Kavino and Rich, make sure you check out Over-Promise.
And also, uncensored, by the way.
Maybe we'll go at it even a little harder.
It's going to be the best after-show podcast of all time.
There you go.
Over-promising.
And remember, you could see it on YouTube, but definitely join us.
Listen to Overpromised with Kavino and Rich on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all.
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions,
my journey from basketball to college football,
or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators,
and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment,
and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music.
The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast.
It's a space for honest conversations,
stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger.
So, if you've ever supported me, or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right
where you need to be. Listen to The Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network
on TikTok. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do you?
do a little kill. Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam Jay.
And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
All right.
It's getting late early, as the great Yogi Berra said.
So I do want to thank the herd.
You heard?
You heard?
Thank you, Colin.
and all the listeners, Ryan, thank you.
Appreciate you being here.
Everybody for hanging out with us, putting up with us all week.
Again, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, we were in for Dan Patrick.
Today, The Herd.
It's been a great week for us.
So if you like what we do, even if you like it, just a little bit,
join us tomorrow on our regular time, Kavino and Rich,
two to four on the West every day, Monday through Friday.
And tomorrow we get you ready for the weekend with weekend hobnobbing,
what you need to watch in the world of sports and pop culture.
We do it every Friday, so join us.
Everything at Covino and Rich.
Just seeing our show on for Colin on the herd.
If you're on the East Coast, yeah, every day, we're on your drive home.
Five o'clock, five o'clock East Coast.

I'm reading the feedback.
And hey, surprisingly nice.
Thank you guys. At Covino and Rich.
Usually, you know, Twitter X is a place
for not the nicest folks.
But Mike hit us up with a good one.
We were talking about things you wish
you could have seen in the world of sports and music,
a concert or a game or a player
you wish you could have seen.
He said, there's people
that wish they would have paid attention
knowing they were watching.
Tom Brady at Michigan.
Not knowing what this guy will be.
If you were just watching a college game,
yeah, I went to Michigan, you half-ass
paid attention, Brady's in the game, not realizing
I'm witnessing a guy
that's going to be considered the goat.
No one would have thought that.
As far as bootlegs,
his no ma, the poor man's A-Rod.
That was from Bruce.
I mean, I could see how he thought that, but again, he was a great player
in Boston, but he never won with
Boston. What about his
Wolf Mother, the rock band? Are they the bootleg
Zeppelin? I would say
Greta Van Fleet would
be the bootman's
bootleg Zeppelin.
The movie Piranha, anything piranha
related is the poor man's
jaws. Yes, agreed.
And the Meg.
The Meg. And first time
hearing these guys, you guys are killing
it. Super awesome. Thank you, sports fan
for real. And
We'll respond to all the feedback after the show.
At Covino & Rich, in for Colin.
Now, we talk about how the NFL, it never stops.
It is a moving train that will not...
Honestly, it's not the local.
It's the nonstop.
It doesn't stop because the Super Bowl ends the next day we're talking about next season.
Because they hook you.
They got you hooked.
I mean, we should be shifting focus now to NBA
or baseball and March madness coming up.
But again, NFL is still in the news.
They're the kings of it.
Those things are on your mind, but oddly enough, football still.
Baseball's, I think baseball loves the fact that we're talking about their crappy jerseys.
They're like, yeah, as long as they're talking baseball.
MLB's like, yeah, crappy jerseys, push that storyline.
And if you don't know that story, look it up later.
The new breathable, what is it?
Moisture wicking jerseys apparently look awful.
Players are complaining, but they'll say, oh, you'll like him in the summer when it's 100 degrees.
I feel like MLB's pushing that storyline.
just to compete.
The fact that that's the weakest-ass story
and that's their biggest story?
The jerseys do look weak,
but I think there's going to be more function over fashion here.
Do you know what they need?
More Rendon's.
Because even though that guy comes across not great,
he got us talking the other day about
that this guy doesn't care.
Seems that way.
So the NFL is king.
I just want to throw a couple
thoughts out there.
Being that the season just ended,
nothing has happened to,
sway you one way or the other. No draft, no trades. Yeah, there's been some coaching changes,
but what intrigues you the most? Like I said, meanwhile, we just wrapped the season. But is there
something already where you're like, ooh, next year? Like, to me, we almost forgot. There's so many
storylines that we forgot. Oh yeah, Aaron Rogers. He'll actually get a go at it. It'll be cool to see him
and we're going to be talking about it. But I think the Green Bay Packers are a team that we're going to be
talking about more often because there's some great
expectations there. They could
build around that. And I think the
biggest storyline is Patrick Mahomes
saying, uh, we're
not a dynasty yet, but we're starting one.
We're going for three. We've got a young
team. They're such a young team. I feel like everyone gutting for
them will be a big storyline. I feel like Josh Allen.
Yeah, but I think they're still going to build around that.
A healthy Deshawn Watson. I think
Max Crosby. You're going to see
you're going to be looking for all these storylines. It's still
going to come down to Mahomes and the
young team. Well, think about, Mahomes, getting
called out by Antonio Pierce already. He wants
the Mahomes rules like the Jordan rules.
He's going to try to rough up Patrick Mahomes.
Which, by the way, it's cool to hear, but do you give up your game
plan in that fashion, knowing
the refs are going to be looking for that now?
Too late. Yeah, exactly.
And then you got to say, in that division,
you know, we're probably going to say farewell
Russell Wilson and Sierra. They pack
their house. What's Denver going to do?
And then you got Harbaugh and Herbert.
So, it all revolves
around. What are the, what moves
are these teams going to make to try to beat the Chiefs?
Watch, you know, watch back how the Rams played in the second half.
I believe Colin thinks he made his way early predictions.
Colin said he thinks the Rams will beat the Niners in the NFC West.
The Rams towards the end of the year looked real good.
They did.
Real good.
They did.
And can Lamar finally get over the hump?
Oh, man, there's so many storylines.
And the NFC East, Dak, Jalen Hertz.
Are they like a backstory now?
Remember it was like which of those teams could make
to run at the Super Bowl.
So we'll see you guys next time.
Thank you, Colin.
Thank you, The Hurd.
Thank you, Ryan.
We'll see you guys tomorrow.
Until then, Arriva Darci, baby.
See you in the Promise Land.
Have a good one.
Goodbye.
