We were beautiful. Really were attractive. And Joy, always is. Sometimes depends on the lighting. So we got a big deal today. Mike Evans, Emmanuel Sanders, coming up. But the big trade. Yes.

And this is a trade deadline. As we've always said, NBA and NFL general managers wait for our show to go on to break news to give it to you to America. We appreciate you for that. We really appreciate that. GM, Gerald Morey and the Brooklyn guy. Listen, the NBA is not complicated. Whoever gets the star wins the trade. And a lot of you are, I just went to the interweb and I'm looking at the angry bird here. And a lot of you people are saying this. You're saying, well, have you watched Hardin this year? Hardin isn't even...

Time out. Hardin's unhappy. We know who he is. When he's unhappy in Houston, he just put wait. He didn't even practice. You get two things with Hardin. Engaged Hardin, which is about 90% of his career, he's an all-star. He's a top 10 player in the league. You get, I'm not happy. I'm going to go AWOL, Harden.

I've seen that happen twice. And you get what you get. But the idea that we're all just the same person all the time. Have you ever been in a bad relationship? You're cranky. You start fights. You ever been in a good relationship. You go the extra mom.

for your partner. Hardin was unhappy. He wanted out. Hardin's going to be engaged, happy James Hardin. He's really good. No disputing. This whole year, remember there was a moment earlier in this year. Joy, it was, so Kyrie, the world was talking vaxes and everything. And there were some NFL quarterbacks not getting vacs. We didn't like that. And Kyrie didn't get vax. That was a bunch of nonsense to us. I'll just speak for me. I didn't. I didn't. I didn't. I didn't. think that was cool to be a teammate and not get faxed. Whatever, be that as it may. Kevin Durant, so Kyrie wasn't around, right?

Because the state of New York wouldn't let you in buildings and stuff. So they asked Kevin Durant about Kyrie. There's a moment. He goes, I don't know, I haven't talked to him. Excuse me? You haven't talked to him? That said it all. KD was being a good guy, but, you know, world is flat.

Kiree was out in his own. own world. Well, James Harden, he comes there and he's thinking, all right, now, what's going on here? So, KD. sometimes is hurt. Kyrie's not available. Remember that period where James Hardin basically had to carry the basketball team last year? And he played so many minutes. And he really played good basketball. And he got hurt. He broke down physically because he came into the year last year, Hardin did out of shape. So he kind of had to play himself into shape. And then guys, Kyrie's not available. And this guy's hurt. not available. And he's basically, Hardin got banged up at the end of last year. So the whole thing

has been rocky for James Harden. He had to kind of play his way into shape and the Kyrie situation. So I think very quickly. And then a story broke two weeks ago that Hardin didn't love Brooklyn, didn't love the team. So we've got to be honest with this. James Hardin has checked out, and we've seen him do it before. He checked out a couple weeks ago. Now, that's about 10% of his NBA career. 90% is guy's a gamer, guy scores, guy play hard, guys on the refs, he wants the calls, he's great at the line. There's a lot of good with James Harden. Little pouty stuff I don't love. I said about Aaron Rogers. 90% of Aaron I love, 10% too much drama for me. But he can play, right? Like great is great. So the Sixers got a great player

who's going to be totally engaged in a much better relationship. They're going to be great. Now, if Simmons is, you know, gets his head right, get his, get his medals right, Simmons is actually a lot of what Brooklyn needs. A long, good defender, doesn't have to, you don't have to create shots for him. He's going to give you 17 a night driving the basket, scoring at the rim. He is more length. They needed that. I mean, he's a really, really good athlete.

And they don't need another ball-centric guy. I mean, Kyrie is good enough to play off the ball. Durant plays off the ball. So there's some things. I never loved the Brooklyn team because my takeaway is Kyrie and Hardener just heavy ball usage guys. They need the ball. You're seeing what's happened with LeBron

who likes the ball. And Westbrook, it doesn't work. Like Westbrook can't play off the ball because he's not a shooter. Clay Thompson's great off the ball. Steph Curry actually, as a point guard, can play off the ball. He runs around the floor. Westbrook can't. Kyrie and Harden, they need it. You know, they need it.

So Brooklyn could be interesting. Philadelphia is going to be good fast. Now, chemistry issues, learn the offense. You know, there's stuff to learn. But I think we have a history in this league. Get the star. That's the league. It's not, it just, I can remember years ago when Miami got Shaq and the Lakers got a,

I think got a bunch of stuff. everybody's all sided. In the end, that stuff, that won't any good until he got Palgassol. Who was another star with Kobe Bryant? So, all right, it's bringing Rick Buecker, Fox Sports NBA guy. All right, so my takeaway is real simple.

And the NBA, get the star, you're a better team. I also think James Hardin, when engaged, is money. I think Philadelphia today, well, give them eight games together. Give them three weeks. I wouldn't want to play Philadelphia in the playoffs in a month and a half, two months. That's my takeaway. Philadelphia is the winner today.

Your thoughts? I disagree wholeheartedly. I don't believe that anybody is a winner because we've got James Harden forcing his way to a second team in as many seasons. I'm all for player empowerment, but this really changes the dynamic of when it comes to every star player in terms of how they feel about where they are and if they like what's going on around them. There's no patience now, and that makes it really difficult to build title contending teams. I have my doubts about exactly how the James Harden, Joel M.B., combination is going to work. Joelle M. Bede has been an MVP candidate because everything has run through him. Now you've got James Harden and you've got to feed two mouths here.

I simply, I believe that the Nets ultimately wanted to take enough pieces away from the Sixers. that it would impair their ability to play for a title, that it would essentially be M-Bed and Hardin and not a whole lot else. I don't know that they fully accomplished that. But for the same reason that James Hardin struggled playing with Kevin Garnet, excuse me, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, making all the pieces fit in Philadelphia, I don't see a way in which it's going to be any better.

Honestly, I see a trade between these two teams, and I think they took them both, themselves, both out of title contention. If I'm the Miami Heat or I'm the Milwaukee Bucks, I'm ecstatic at seeing this happen because you've got two teams that are basically starting over with about a month and a half to go before you start the playoffs. Okay, so Brooklyn got Simmons, Seth Curry draft picks, and Andre Drummond. Now, that's news. I hadn't known that. So Andre Drummond's a big physical guy. I think he made an all-star team or two. What is, I mean, the haul, the haul is Brooklyn got a haul.

A lot of it comes down to this. I have no idea what I get with Simmons. Do you? Yeah, no. And again, from what we're hearing as of right now, it's going to take him some time from a mental health standpoint, supposedly, to get himself prepared to play. We already know physically he hasn't been playing.

the entire season. What's been one of the biggest issues that the Nets have had? Their continuity and their ability to get everybody together and on the same page. The idea that they're going to bring in a Ben Simmons who's going to play very different than a James Harden and presumably is going to have the ball in his hands. If he doesn't, I don't know how he impacts this game, this team overall. All of that has to be worked out. And the idea that you're going to do that and somehow get past the Milwaukee Bucks, who essentially brought the same team back and amplified it in the best ways possible, or the Miami Heat who have had their core together the entire season.

It's a recipe for not working right now. And as we've seen, with James Harden making this decision, there's no patience to say, yeah, you know what, it's not working right now. Let's give it a couple years and see if we can base it. something out of it. So I, again, I will say it. I feel as if these two teams have taken themselves out of immediate title contention by making this move. I want to ask you about this. The three best teams in the league to me are Milwaukee, Phoenix and Golden State. Golden State's a little beat up right now, but I think once they get healthy, they've got a mix of young and old, some size.

I don't think they have to make a move. I think they could beat Phoenix. It's who's healthier. I think they could steal a game on the Phoenix home court. Do you believe, Do you believe the Warriors are a championship team without a move? I do not. Now, making a big move, simply, I believe once again, much like last year, the buyout market is potentially going to be more important to the title contenders than the trade market. And if they can pick up a big, a Robin Lopez, some other big man to amplify their front court, then I believe that's an important ingredient to what they have. I'm not buying that Kavana

Looney and Draymond Green is going to be enough size for them to get past the Milwaukee Bucks, to win a title with the Milwaukee Bucks or even with the Phoenix Suns and DeAndre Aiton. I believe that they have to get, they have to improve on that front. But outside of that, yes, I think they're capable of getting it done. But I said at the beginning of the year and I feel better about it, now more so than I did then, which is that we were going to see a replay of last year's finals. We were going to see the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks meet once again, and everything is pointing in that direction. All right, good stuff. Rick Buecker, he doesn't like the deal.

I am a believer in Harden Star Power will make it work. Give me 45 days and I'm going to go with it. But you know, Bukes, you and I rarely. But you're a star guy. You're a star guy, Colin. You're a star and you're a believer in star. I understand that mindset. Yes, yes. You like those grinders.

I'm all about points and buckets. All right, Bukes. Good to seeing you. Rick Buker, Fox Sports. It's fun. Like, trades are fun. NBA trade deadline. There's always a lot of talk and nothing ever gets done.

It's all smoke. No real fire. And now I feel like I got something. Lakers still on the clock. Lakers have 38 minutes. Let's make it happen. I would not trade Westbrook for John Wall. I would not.

My opinion, no way. I'll take Westbrook's energy. I think Lakers fans just want any kind of movement at this point. Well, that's a bad strategy. That's just selling a stock to sell a stock. Mike Evans, eight years in the NFL, a four-time pro bowler on his way to a Hall of Fame career. He's had 1,000 yards in every season. That's a lot of bank right there. You put a lot of deposits in the bank so far.

You know, it's interesting, Mike. You got a lot of free agents on this team. Ryan Jensen, Gronk, Chris Godwin, I think Lenny Fernette, you got a lot of guys. And I think to myself, do you just start over, do you get some draft picks? Like, how do you feel if you, not saying that you run the club, but if you did kind of, you know, it's a weird time, Chris. Like you got a Super Bowl, two great years, but there's a lot of, you can only pay so much in this league. Do you feel like it's maybe going to be a little bit of a transition year post-Tommy? I'm not sure.

I'm not sure. Obviously, we're going to miss Tom. That's a huge blow. One of the best teammates ever. Obviously, the best player of all time, most accomplished player in sports history. But, I mean, he definitely helped instill a lot of things in this program. We got a lot of core guys and young guys on this team that will be back. Hopefully we can get most of our free agents back. But we definitely trust the front office and the coaching staff. Brady's a fascinating guy. if I said, give me two things, Mike, that you took away from Tom that either you didn't know or that surprised you or just two things about Tom that you will always remember. I always remember how he attacked the game and how he prepared. I mean, I've heard about it. I mean, obviously you have to be prepared if you're that accomplished.

But the way he prepares, it's probably nobody prepares like him. He made sure everybody knew what they were doing, week in, week out. He put in the work, win or lose. He's going to prepare the same way. way and the way he took care of his body. He brought the TB12 facility to Tampa, and man, was it helpful? I missed one game in the last two years. Had a lot of injuries, but the injury process went faster.

I recovered faster, you know, having TB12 there. So, I mean, those two things were I always remember that. How about Gronk as a teammate? I work with him at Fox for a year. I thought he was a riot. I loved him. There's something about his, he's crazy. But he always plays like the silly guy, but he's a little smarter than people think.

Like the dude knows. He knows how to get open, man. He say what you want. You put a zone up. That dude finds the creases. What do you make a grog? I was just telling somebody the same thing about Grom. I mean, he tricks you.

He's super smart. He is always goofy all the time, but that's just his personality. He's a really smart guy. Best Titan ever play. Great teammate, man. I love Gronk. I hope he get them back, but we'll see. but, man, having him as a teammate was definitely a pleasure.

So you had, you lost to the Rams twice, you ate them up. You ate the Rams up. In fact, I'm looking at you had 16 catches, 225 yards, a couple of touchdowns. But they got the best of you guys. So when you face them, what's the part about the Rams defense that is really difficult? Talk about how they're coached, their personnel. Are they a physical defense? What did you make?

Because you had a lot of success, Mike. Well, the first game, I didn't have much success. You know, we were losing the whole game, and I got those yards at the end of the game. But, you know, this next game, I did a little bit better, but started slow. But their defense, their front seven obviously gets the start of the D-line is nasty. And on the back end, they got veterans and they're smart. Ramsey, one of the best corners in the game. Very versatile.

He could play at the nickel spot or he can follow the number one receiver. schematically. They don't really do anything. They play one high, cover three in man. That's what they're going to give you and let those past riches get after you. Interesting. Mike, you have certainly earned the right.

Eight years in the NFL. You're on your way. A couple more years. You're going to be a Hall of Fame player. You've earned the right to have a... Oh, yeah. There's no question. And you've earned the right to me.

You've been a consummate pro that your consistency, your work ethic, you're a big player receiver. You have earned the right to have an opinion on the bucks, sit down with Jason Light and say, hey man, Jace, you know, this guy's out there, that guy's out there. If they came to you, I got nothing against the guys you got in-house. I got nothing against them. But this roster, I saw it win in the Super Bowl two years ago.

Like, this is not a rebuild roster. Would you go to Jason and say, hey, let's go get a veteran quarterback here? Let's run this puppy back. Would you be cool with that? I wouldn't do that. I mean, if he asked me who I preferred, obviously, I'd give my, you know, input. But, you know, I'll just come to work. Like you said, I'm a pro, man.

I'm just blessed to be in his position. I'm just all about my craft and, you know, making myself the best player I can be. Whoever the quarterback is, you know, time will tell. But, you know, I just got to make sure I'm doing my best to get open for whoever it is. Yeah. I got to ask you about Antonio Brown bum me out. He, to be honest with you, I mean, it's literally the, his personality is the opposite of yours. I got nothing against him.

But in that moment, you tried to talk him out of it, I think. I think the videos you tried to talk him out of it. In the next five minutes after that moment, what in God's name was going through your mind? Well, obviously, I didn't see what happened because we were on offense and we were trying to get him to go back in the game. He's an all-time great player. like, you know, we definitely could have used them, you know, in the playoffs. I was just telling them, I was like, big bro, don't go out like this. Like, you know, we need you.

You know, don't go out this way. And, you know, I had to go back in the game. Yeah. Because it was about to be third down. I think it was second down. And then they needed me to go in. So, you know, I had to go in. And, you know, we saw this after like a TV timeout.

It was a TV timeout. Then we saw it kept replaying it. And now that's just it was an unfortunate situation. I'm surprised he did that, but he's an entertainer, I guess. Just somebody. Mike Evans for planters, by the way, I already knocked down two bags today. Joy will tell you, I live on planters peanuts constantly at the Super Bowl. Planters Peanuts, Deluxe McNuts, all together, one of a time.

You see it behind him. You are looking at one of the great players in the NFL, Mike Evan. What are you doing in the off season? You stay in Tampa, hang out at Ebor City, drink cocktails, and hang out in a boat. What do you do? No, I go back to Texas, man. I live in Houston. I'm from Galveston, Texas, live in Houston. I go back and chill with my family.

Work out. A lot of basketball games, UFC, boxing matches, things like that. All that cool stuff. All right, buddy. Hey, thanks for coming on the show, man. Before I go. Yeah, yeah. How do you eat your mixed nuts? I don't do. I do salted only. I do.

Salted only. Dude, I'm very, you can tell from me I'm in very good shape. I do only the best pure peanuts, little planters oil, a lot of salt. I'm addicted to salt. And look, you don't look like me at 58, Mike. See these traps? See what's going on here? That's protein, baby.

I got to get on your plan, Colin. All right. Mike Evans, planters. Great seeing him. Unbelievable talent. I remember watching him at Texas A&M. Like, all right, nobody wants to guard that, dude. All right, we got NBA trades.

James Hardens is sexer. Rick Bueger doesn't like the, he doesn't like the move at all. For anybody. Anybody. He was just Mr. Buzzkill. I'm over here setting the world on fire.

Rick is very, you know, he's coming from a very rational, you know, analytic place. You know, he's not, he's not us hyperbolic opinion people

who are, you know, reacting with stars and eyes. But we know what happens. The idea that people don't change. The reality is, especially, let's be honest, Stars tend to be in all walks of life.

Hollywood and the NFL. A little pampered. Little pampered. Sure. And so when they don't get their way, they can be a little pouty. Everyone does that. It's not just stars. Everyone does that.

So James Harden a couple times in his career has done a little flip, you know, he gets the switch. He flips a little bit. Pouty James and then engage James. Right. So am I supposed to believe in a month and a half, you got Maxie, you got Embed, you got to bias Harris, you got a good coach.

They won't be able to figure it out. I always, I always believe in a trade. Get me the most talented player. And stars figure it out. It didn't take Kobe and Gasol long. It just doesn't... It's mid-season. I mean, it's literally the All-Star Break is next weekend. So I don't know.

I kind of tend to agree with Rick as far as that goes. Like, do I think... I think they're better because they're getting a player. Like, Ben Simmons wasn't playing. If Ben Simmons was playing and he wasn't playing well, then that is just... different situation, but they didn't have Ben Simmons on the floor at all.

So you're getting the scoring of James Harden, you're getting an engaged James Harden. Is it going to work as far as defined work? Like, are they going to win a couple series in the playoffs? I think so. Sure. Are they going to win a NBA championship because of this? Right. I don't think so. I don't think this year. Now, next year,

yes, but I don't think you could just plug and play in today's NBA in this way and win a championship. And I'm Kevin Durant, and I'm looking around. I got Kyrie can play every other game. Andre Drummond. I don't want him near the free throw line. Yeah, I think everybody is just saying that the Nets won because they don't like what they've seen from Hardin this year.

Which I think is, it's not that it's unfair. We know that Hardin does this. That's his personality. I just, I have no idea. Like, I know, I've seen Hardin be able to turn it on. I have no idea what Ben Simmons is going to do and you still only have Kyrie for away games.

Joy Taylor with the news. No. No. No. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. So sticking with the trade deadline, it's less than an hour away. It will end at the end of our show. Yeah, 30 minutes. Stay here for all the updates. We've already seen the Nets and Sixers trade,

and obviously everyone is keeping their eye on the Lakers. They have been in the conversations of wanting to move Russell Westbrook. I don't think that will happen. They can only move him for John Wall because of Westbrook's salary. It's not like they can just, this idea they have a bunch of options. The salary is the salary. I mean, well, the salary is one thing. And also, what's happened with Westbrook in L.A.

is not doing him or the Lakers any favors in this spot. It's been incredibly toxic. So if you're a team that's a contender, you don't want that, even if you could afford him. And if you're not a contender, why are you in the conversation for Westbrook anyway? Like, what's he going to do? Make you somewhat relevant for the rest of the second half of the season?

So it's not really... They were also interested in making a deal for Josh Richardson with the Celtics, but they traded him to the Spurs. The Bucks sent Serge Abaca to the Clippers in a four-team deal. The Pacer sent him on to Spoon. is Jeremy Lamb and Justin Holiday and a 23 second round pick for Tyrese Halliburton

and Buddy Heald and Tristan Thompson. That happened a few days ago. Obviously the Blazers trade with C.J. McCollum. The Celtics are moving PJ Dozier and Bulbul to the magic in a cost-cutting deal. The Wizards are sending Aaron Holiday to Phoenix. And the Hornets are acquiring Montrez-Harell for Vernon Carey and Isch Smith. And yeah, so there's some things happen.

Goran Dragich to the Spurs for Thad Young, Raptors in San Antonio. So there's a lot going on. There's a couple more ones. The trades will probably come down before the next half an hour, but the big one is obviously watching to see what the Lakers do. So the Jags hired Doug Peterson as their next head coach. She's an offensive coach,

and he will be inheriting Trevor Lawrence at his second year in the league, and he is excited to get to work with this new coach. I really like him. I'm really excited for the future. I've talked to him, I've spoken with him a couple times, and really just impressed by who he is. I think personality-wise, we're going to gel really well. I think we're pretty similar.

And just knowing, you know, he played the position. He's an offensive guy and really did a great job in Philly, especially early on. Like, I was just really impressed by that. And, you know, we talk ball a little bit and really think we're on the same page. So I'm excited to get back, get back to work, learn this new system, and get with the guys and really start clicking and getting ready for the season. It's still Jacksonville, but of all of the hires, I think I feel the most optimistic about this one and the Raiders, mostly because of the quarterback situation. I think Trevor Lawrence was dealt a terrible disservice in his first year in Jacksonville.

We never even really talked about him. I'm really excited. It was really bad for the league. Trevor Lawrence was, he was Andrew Luck. We were talking about him being in a league in his freshman year of college. And for him to get to the NFL, and deal with that his first year. It was bad.

It was just bad. Like, it's just negative. Like, he, he has the potential to be a superstar. We saw what he did in college. So I, I like this hiring of Doug Peterson. I would have liked Byron Lefich as well, but not if they weren't going to get rid of Chink Brum

because you don't want to match a coach and GM that aren't getting along. I would have taken Leftwich over Balke, but I think they're in a good situation and clearly they're getting along, which is, you know, obviously an important thing in today's society. Everybody's got to get along. So Kyler Murray raised some eyebrows. this week, he deleted all the Cardinals

mentions off of his social media, which brought up some questions about whether he's happy in Arizona. His teammate, wide receiver Christian Kirk, who is entering free agency, admitted that his future is tied to Kyler-Murries. He said, anytime you get to play with a quarterback like Kyler, you want to be part of it. My thing is always, whenever I'm out there, I want to be the best that I can to help him

along. He's one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and that's the facts. It'll definitely have a deciding factor. Here's the thing about the Kyler-Murie situation. Now, he's in the fourth year of his rookie contract. The Cardinal still have to decide whether they're going to pick up his fifth year option. The deadline is May 2nd. But then he can be franchise tag three times.

So what's he going to do? He's going to force his way. He's going to ask for his way out. Like they completely control where he is for the next three years. They could theoretically could have him through the 20206 season. Yeah. Like they have control over Kyler Murray. Yeah.

Now they should pay him. And I don't even know why this would be, this would ever become a contentious situation. I think the only thing I worry about is I've watched this smaller athlete back-to-back years get hurt and be a different player late than early. That's the only thing I worry about. You know what? If I could ideally do it, franchise him for one year with a promise. But what if he gets hurt a third straight year and it's not the same player left? What else are you going to do?

Well, I mean, again, I don't know. I'll figure it out. I want him. I want him. Kyler Murray is that good. I mean, he obviously has still, you know, he's got to stay healthy. but you're not doing better than Kyla Murray on the market. That's not even a question.

And he's a, he's a, he's, he's not quite the, the leadership of, of a Dak Prescott or, you know, a Joe Burrow, but he's a guy. Like that, that is a guy. That's what you look for. Yes. So the idea that you're not going to pay him.

Yeah. I mean, it's just, it's just a weird situation. I do still have questions about how that happened with the social media and why. I don't necessarily know that it's about the contract, but either way, don't have us talking. talking about if you're going to pay, Kylie Murray. He's the guy. Joy with the news. dealer near you, hustler turf. Okay, to Manuel Sanders, 12 years in the NFL, two-time pro bowler. Of course, he was drafted by the Steelers. Steelers know their wide receivers. You have been in three Super Bowls. One win, two losses, right? Yep. Okay.

So first of all, you get two weeks off. So the only time you get that kind of rest is before the season starts. was it hard to stay focused? Did you like the two weeks or would you rather play the following week? I enjoyed the two weeks. Obviously, the first week you're practicing at the city or the state you're in,

but once you get out to the Super Bowl, I remember in 2010 when I got, I made it to the Super Bowl as a rookie, I didn't know what to expect. And I felt like I didn't have my phone out enough. I didn't record. Like, I don't have any videos, any pictures of it, right? And we ended up losing.

So I remember, I told myself, If I ever make it back to the Super Bowl, that second week when I go out there, I'm videoing everything. Have fun. Right? I'm having fun. Like, I'm video on everything. And so when we went in 2015 with the Broncos, the one that we won, I had my phone out everywhere. I was recording everything, everything.

So, you know, that's what I tell the guys, too. If you make it to the Super Bowl, make sure you record everything, have fun and record and remember. Because when you're out there, you feel like, oh, we're going to do this again next year and the next year and the next year. But chances are very slim. slim so definitely enjoyed that second week. When the game starts, it's really interesting how many times in Super Bowl's the first quarter, like Brady never threw a touchdown pass in the first quarter. It's a feeling out thing.

Did you feel Emmanuel, did you feel a little nerves? Like, was it different? Oh, 100%. It's the biggest game in the world. But at the same time, I was telling myself, because everybody's nervous, right? They are. But in your head, you're thinking you're the only one nervous, right? you're the only one nervous.

But I'm looking around the locker room and I'm looking at the other team and I'm saying everybody feels the exact same way that I feel. So I found comfort in that, that everybody is nervous. And then, you know, Gary Kubiak was my coach in Super Bowl 50.

I mean, the first play went to me. So I was able to get my hands on the ball, catch a field and ended up having a really good game. I had like five or six catches for like 80-some yards and winning. So I got those jitters out really, really fast. But the entire game, though, like you're just watching,

you're scoring, you're riding up, motion a roller coaster and then like that when the fourth quarter hits you know like history i am you know 15 minutes away from getting a super bowl ring god lord please let me lord please let it be us lord please let it be us and i've been on both spectrums twice i lost one and won one so but still blessed no matter what though now i want to talk about you you've played with josh allen uh big ben you know the quarterback relationship stafford and cooper cup it's unbelievable Yeah. First year together, 170 catches.

Why does it work? What does it take to work? You know, I was just talking to someone, and I was telling me about Cooper Cup. Cooper Cup is transitioning again. I remember in 2010 when I came into the NFL, they didn't have the iPads to be able to study film and break down film at your house and study your opponent. But what I'm hearing about Cooper Cup and Matthew Stavre is they meet every morning, just them two, breaking down film and doing a lot of stuff. to understand coverages and what teams are doing. And, you know, Cooper Cubs' dad is a former quarterback as well.

So he understands coverages, he understands this. And I remember it was one play. I was watching at home, and I told my wife, I was like, that's a Cooper Cup and Matthew Stafford connection. It was, he had ran like a corner route. But the split that he had, it was like inside leverage of the inside edge of the numbers, which was like rare, right? And I was like, that's them studying together

because he literally knew the Jakarta, Karstki Tart, the safety, was inside, ran the corner route, and Stafford hit him in the back of the end zone for a touchdown. And I was like, that's that connection of them meeting seven o'clock in the morning and watching film, right? And it's showing, like, on, you know, at the game. So that's that, that's that connection that they have. I remember there's a late great baseball player, Tony Gwynn, and he was one of the first guys I heard of that literally just studied the picture he was facing. When the game would end, he wouldn't go home. He'd sit there and watch the next picture. He could go to sleep, He could think about it, visualize that pitcher.

And so that stuff works. So Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow. Now, they played collegiately together. Do you think that helps? 100%. Chemistry off the field is sometimes more important than on the field. But how they come about is Joe Burrow, first of all, I have to become a fan. And I became a fan probably about six or seven weeks ago.

I was just on his Instagram and just watching. He'll go out, throw the 500. 500 yards in the game and post on Instagram, F you in, fun, right? And then after, you know, the AOC championship game, he beats the Chiefs, he goes and post cardiac glasses, I won't even peek at you. Right? Like, here it is the second year guy, you know what I mean? Like going to the Super Bowl and just cool, calm, and collective.

And then, you know, Jamar Chase, like, think about this. Like, this guy is a rookie receiver doing what he's doing. Like, this is special what we're seeing right now. And it's the reason why this game should be even hyped. up even more because it's a second year quarterback and a rookie receiver going at it. And what a dynamic, you know, dual they are, you know. And, you know, some people say it's Joe Burroughs. Some people say it's Jamar Chase.

But, you know, I recall the play versus the Chiefs when they threw him to curl route. He caught the curl around and split the defenders and had like 222 yards. That's a special talent right there. And he's one of those guys, you got to watch because he's coming in the league and doing stuff that I feel like no rookie has ever done, you know. in terms of what he's doing. So Brian Dable now leaves the bills, offensive guy, and goes to the Giants. What separates Brian Dable?

I mean, what did he bring? Because you've been in this league now 12 years. What did Brian Dable do? And you're like, oh, that's next level. No. What Brian Dable is is what separates Brian Dable. Like, Dabel will call me and FaceTime me more than, I've talked to Dable on the phone more than any coach that I have in my 12 years.

And he will call me. He just be in a pool with a. cigar like hey man I'm enjoying my life like hey man like how you doing man I'm drawing up some plays I got this play and that play and he's just so innovative and dynamic like the way that he had our office you got to think like that game that we have versus the Patriots with zero punts zero you know it was a crazy you know like the perfect game as an offense it was just he's just an innovator and the way that he had Josh like scrambling and and the run plays and how he was using Isaiah McKenzie I mean he's just he's one of the

realest coaches and he is who he is. I think his press conference was the first press conference I watched from a head coach because I wanted to see if he was going to continue to be Brian Day, but one of the realest, like people, well, coaches I've ever been around and hearing this press conference, I said, oh yeah,

the Giants are in good hands because he kept it real and he kept it being himself. And man, I'm rooting for him and I know that he's going to do big things with the Giants. So you had Tomlin defensive coach and Sean McDermott defensive coaches. And they're both winners. And increasingly Emmanuel, a lot. The league's going offense. Like 20 offensive, I didn't, I think 20 or 21

offensive coaches. As an offensive player, did you feel a connection to Tomlin and McDermott as defensive coaches or was it more with your offensive coordinator? Well, I felt a connection with both of them because, you know, they would always walk up to me and talk to me and keep real with me. Tomlin treated me like, you know, I was one of his sons, you know what I mean? You know, a father figured of me. And then McDermott, you know, we always talked to about, you know, he always wanted to pick my brain and we'll sit down at lunch and pick my brain about just, you know, the previous Super Bowl teams

that I've been on and try to, you know, get my veteran, you know, experience from that. But as far as the game going offensively, you know, I've been coached by offensive coaches as well, like Gary Kubiak and guys like that. And for me, like, it don't really matter to me. Obviously, I don't like, when meetings, I'm not really in meetings with Mike Tomlin

and Sean McDermon. Whereas even with Gary Kubiak, I wasn't meeting with Kubiak as well. You know what I mean? I think a head coach is supposed to do their job in terms of managing the team. Right. Officer coordinator is supposed to, you know, call the plays and do their job. And so, you know, I'm not a big believer in mixing it up. And I haven't seen it in my 12 years of experience.

Okay, so 12 years, two-time Pro Bowl. This year you had 42 catches, 6.50 yards, four touchdowns. You're a free agent. So it's interesting. So you've shown an ability, and it's important. You come to a team, you figure the playbook out fast. When you went to the Niners, five days later, you were playing and producing. So what will you look at for free agency?

What will matter? By the way, it's just like high school. It's very rare in the NFL. You get drafted. They can franchise tag you. So a lot of these productive players, you don't get to be a free agent. You don't get to be recruited. What is the number one thing you're looking at?

looking for. I want to win. I want to be happy. So you're not going to a rebuild. No, I'm not going to a rebuild. I want to win and I want to be happy. But, you know, as far as free AC, even right now, like I'm taking some time and I don't know what I want to do, like even football in general. Like, I don't know. I'm taking some time probably like a month or two, two or three months. So you put some money away. You're fine. You can do what you want to do. Oh, yeah. I'm set up. I'm set up really nice. And, you know, I got my son. He's getting older. I got a daughter that's getting elder and the past three years been traveling and moving from team to team trying to win a Super Bowl. But, you know, I got some reflect and I want to do one possibly, you know, possibly

retire or something. I don't know yet, but I'm just filling it out. But as far as like, if I was too, I definitely have to go to a team in which, you know, they're winning and trying to try to try to. Would you go back to Buffalo? 100% I'd go back to Buffalo. Did you like the experience? Yeah. Matter of fact, after the game, you know, versus the Chiefs, you know, Josh Allen was like, hey, let's run it back. And I was like, man, like, let me give me some time to reflect and, you know, see how I feel. But definitely, you know, that game versus the Chiefs was crazy, man.

It was nuts. It was crazy. Was it the craziest game you were ever in? Oh, it broke my heart, man. It broke my heart. 13 seconds, you know, obviously, you know, you think that, you know, we got an opportunity to move on to the AFC championship in Buffalo. I wanted that so bad not only for myself, but for the city of Buffalo,

an AFC championship game in Buffalo, that would have been insane, you know what I mean? But, you know, Josh looked at me and told me, hey, let's see. Let's run it back, but I told him, let me get some time to think. What was the plane ride home from that game like to Buffalo? What was it like? So I didn't even ride back on the plane. I stayed in Kansas City with my wife. And, you know, then after I called all the guys.

Because for me, like, being a free agent and knowing where my mind was, like, goodbyes are so hard for me, you know? Like, it's hard to be like, goodbye. It's always, you know, see you later. And so I didn't take that plane ride. But one thing that I do remember is after that game, me, Josh Allen, Stefan Diggs, and Gabe Davis, we're all sitting around. And it was just, it was like nobody was talking. Everybody was just trying to just looking out into, like, nowhere.

And I could just feel that everybody was like, when am I going to wake up from this bad dream? There's no way that this just happened. Crazy. And, you know, I looked around and I told him, I said, what has happened has happened. It's not a bad dream. We just lost, you know. And we lost in that manner. But what I do appreciate is that we just witnessed two of the greatest quarterbacks of all the time going at it in that type of game.

One of the greatest games to ever be played. Best game of the year. Exactly. And, you know, it sucks that we were on a short end. But at the end of the day, you know, it was still a blessing, you know, to perform like that. Especially Gabe Davis. Like, his performance was insane. You know what I mean?

And I'm just proud of him as well. All right. We got to run. Absolutely great seeing you. Emmanuel Sanders. You always take us places that we wouldn't know otherwise. By the way, weather's bad.
