deals and players run around and jump and do that kind of stuff. You know, there's a lot of reports that are going to move it out of Indy. I tend to think, keep the Pro Bowl in Hawaii, keep the Combine in Indy. I think they like it. Indy's good. You know, we can't have everything on the coast, folks. I've got to give some of

stuff up. Shreggs is joining me live. Fox Sports app, the cheat sheets, good stuff. So let's start with this. The Kyler Murray stuff is, Joy and I have gone back and forth on this. I would sign him. But there are, I mean, Larry Fitzgerald told Greg Jennings who told us an hour ago, Larry said

they rolled out the red carpet early. It kind of changed his personality. He can be off-putting to some teammates. That was what Larry told Greg. It's out there. It was on our show. But he is a remarkable talent. You know, you're, you should, Is there any question in your mind of signing Kyler Murray?

Such an interesting dynamic because they should sign Kyler, but why does it have to be on March 1st on his timeline? I think that's the big question here. Lamar Jackson won an MVP and was drafted a year before Kyler Murray, and he still hasn't gotten his contract. Patrick Mahomes won a Super Bowl MVP, and I already won an MVP and got one in July of what is the equivalent of Kyler's year right now. his agent Eric Burkhard, who I say, hey, you know what, you want to go out there swinging,

you want to represent your guy, you want to say, hey, pay him now. You've every right to do that. But the Cardinals are not, you know, the L.A. Rams. The Cardinals are not the Dallas Cowboys. They're not just flush with cash spending money willy-nilly. He's 24 years old. It's March 1st, and they sure aren't going to be put in a corner and be told when they've got to sign a long-term deal for Kyler Murray.

I think everyone involved, whether it be Cliff Kingsbury or St. Steve Kime, who has his career staked to the pick of Kyler Murray, or even the owner, Michael Bidwell, they want to, you know, have Kyler Murray as a long-term quarterback, but I don't think they want to be told when they have to sign that deal. And I think the crickets on the other end of the statement made by the agent Eric Burkart yesterday speaks wonders. It's not only from the team who hasn't quivered and said, oh, my God, we ought to, okay. It's also from the rest of the Cardinals players. We don't see a ground swell of people coming out and saying, yes, pay Kyler, right now, this moment because he wants to be paid.

He's going into an offseason, and it's on their schedule in the NFL. It's not necessarily on his schedule. And if he wants to hold out and do all that, that's a whole other issue. But short of demanding a trade or doing a holdout, I don't think the Cardinals are going to completely change their offseason schedule to make sure he is paid right now immediately because he says he wants it.

Yeah, it's interesting. So the Traylands Carapolo thing, I got Montana has questions, and Steve Young has questions, and then an NFL reporter of note came out and said, we're not sure if he's ready. So stuff gets out when somebody wants it out. I am of the belief that Garoppolo winning in Lambo going to fetch you a second, third round pick, maybe a player.

I'd move off him. I'd give Traylance every snap because I don't think he's a refined product yet. I just think he's talented. But you give me an update on the Jimmy G. Trayland situation, Shregs. Yeah, well, look, Traylan started three games and didn't do anything to wow us in those three games. and it might have been, you know, again, not an ideal situation for him having to be forced to play because of Jimmy's injuries.

Jimmy Garapolo said to make $25 million next year. That's a lot of money for a quarterback when you have the first round pick. I am saying this. I had great plans to sit down with Kyle Shanahan here at the Combine. He texted me yesterday. He's like, I'm not coming to the Combine. So there goes those. So I won't have the firm answer from the coach.

But I am speaking with John Lynch tomorrow. I'll talk to him a bunch and I'll have a better idea then. but I don't think you can keep Jimmy Garoppolo into next season if you want to extend Debo Samuel, if you want to extend Nick Bosa, if you want to build a team around some of the guys that they have that they have to re-up. Garapolo has been wonderful for them. I think they would love to do this as cleanly as possible, but I do believe if you're asking me as NFL reporter who is ingrained with anybody, and especially with the Niners guys who I've known for it, I would be very surprised if they entered training camp with Jimmy Garapolo on the roster. Yep. See, you and I agree on that. Let me throw this. I don't think Brady's coming back. He's generally a guy that makes a decision, stays with it, and, you know, like that's just who he is. I don't think Bruce Ariens in Tampa were the perfect fit long term. They were a good enough fit to win a Super Bowl in two years. I don't see him coming back. But you know Jason Light, the GM. I know him a little bit. What's their take on Brady and, you know, the possible return?

Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please come back. No, honestly, like, that's where we're at. I think I'll say that half kidding. I spoke to Jason this morning and said, we're going to leave the light on. Like it was the old motel eight ads or whatever it was, but we're going to leave the light on and he's always got a place here. We'll make it work. We'll figure it out.

In the meantime, they need to think about their contingency plans. And I get the feeling being here on the combine for two days that this great groundswell of, oh, Russell's going to be traded and, and Roder's going to be like, That's calmed down quite a bit. And I don't think it's going to be this whirlwind of quarterback activity this week. And it might not be even up until free agency. So they've got Kyle Trask on the roster, Blaine Gabbard's a free agent. But they made it very clear to me.

And Jason directly told me, I'm going to keep contact to Brady. And I'm going to check him often. And if Brady wants to return, there will be a place for Brady. We'll make it work. We'll figure it out. Now, the Buccaneers have a ton of free agents on this roster. Chris Godwin is a free agent. JPP is a free agent.

You've got Alex Cap with a big lineman, Ryan Jensen. We can go through it. They've got a ton of guys. They've got to figure out. But Brady will always be priority one. So I don't, for my vision, I don't see Brady doing this Niners thing. I hear a lot about. I don't see it working out that way.

I just don't think that Bucks would ever let him out and do that. I think the Bucks are like, he's under contract with us, if anybody. And he retired from us. So I think they're going to, the term that he said is they're going to keep the light on. And it's, let's see. Brady's addicted to football. We know that. And I saw him taking photos yesterday.

at like a LPGA tour event, and that might get old after a couple months. Maybe it won't. Maybe he's good and maybe he's happy. And I think 99% of the people out there assume he'll be happy in retirement. There's a 1% hope from those Buccaneers guys that Brady might change his mind. And if that's the case, they'll welcome him back with open arms. By the way, a lot of talk about the New York Giants this offseason because they flush the coaches out and the front office and blah, blah, blah. You're in New York. The jet situation's interesting because Belichick's the best coach. McDermott's a great coach and Josh Allen.

Miami's got some turbulence. What's happening in Jets world? This is roster rebuild year. Now, Joe Douglas, two years ago, the draft that has not netted out very talented players. They don't have many day one starters. Even Mackay Beckton, who was the 11th pick overall, right now you would say has not worked out.

Last year's draft class, they're high on Zach Wilson. They love Elijah Moore. Vera Tucker out of USC, they look at as well. former, of a future pro bowler. They're very high on the draft from last year. So you go into this one, they have a ton of free agent spending money, and they've got two picks in the top 10. This is the year for the Jets to build this roster.

I know Jets fans are rolling their eyes, and they're saying every year's the year. It hasn't worked out. No, no. Last year was a good building block. This is the year, though, where they get foundational players. And I've spoken to Robert Sol over the last few weeks. He also has decided not to be at the combine, and it's not because he doesn't want to be here.

it's because he's busy watching free agency tape, and he's building his free agent stuff, and he wants to be ready 100% while Joe Douglas is here at the draft, looking at the draft guys, they know what they've got with their free agent board. I'm very bullish on the future of the Jets. They started clicking late.

Zach Wilson, a light came on for him, and I think Sala and Douglas, this is a big year for them, and I think there's a lot of reason for optimism with cap space, the picks, and a chemistry between those two guys, I think the Jets are going to be in a lot better place, in 12 months than they are right now.

All right, Shregs, can you tell us you have dinner with tonight or lunch or anything, or is that secret? Let's just say that there might be some Packers' attire across from me at the table at my dinner tonight. Boy, I'm going to guess. That could be the equipment guy. It could be the equipment guy. Excuse me? There's been some rumors swirling last week about Russell Wilson after he changed his Twitter profile pick to remove the image of him as a Seahawk. That was interesting. And Russ was asked today on the Today Show if he would consider playing on the East Coast. I love the East Coast, but I think the West Coast is better for me right now. I got my whole family over here. So, you know, I'm from Richmond.

I know what you mean. People hit me up every day, but all my friends and all that from East Coast. But Seattle is the place that I'm at right now, and I love it. And it's great. No state tax, loyal fan base. I mean, you got a lot. I don't think he's leaving Seattle this year. I don't think he's going to finish his career in Seattle, but I don't think he's leaving Seattle this year.

And he also makes a lot of money. So he's getting paid. He does. And he's finishing up his contract there is what I think he's going to do. He didn't request a trade last year, obviously. there was some talk and the, his agent listed some teams that he'd be interested in going to. All those teams are no longer viable for him. He's spent his entire 10-year career with the Seahawks, and they've made the playoffs eight of the ten seasons with them and won a Super Bowl in a

second year. I maintain that the Seahawks had a down year. Yeah. In that division, that's fair. You're allowed to do that. Yep. We'll see this year how things go. I think if they struggle again this year, then you got you got to have a new coach. Then you make new considerations. And I don't think that Russell will stay there. I think he will probably move on. and look, the NFL looks completely different every single year. There's new coaches, quarterback's moves. Well, think about this. One year ago, it leaked that there were four teams that he was interested in.

Those four teams one year later make no sense. Sean Payton retired. Sean Payton's gone. Derek Carr is going to stay with the Raiders. And Dak just signed a contract. Right. And then what was the other one? A Bears moved off an offensive coach.

And they drafted Justin Fields. So in one year, his four. destinations, none would work. And next year, there could be four destinations that we think are not in the quarterback market that could be. This year, I think the Colts, the Steelers, and the Broncos are perfect, but they should all solve their issue this year. Correct.

So next year, it's going to be. But also, if he's going to... In one year... And I believe he's out of... I believe he's at the end of his contract next year. If he's going to leave Seattle, if I'm Russell Wilson and I'm leaving Seattle, I obviously wants to go to a place that's viable. I don't want to go to a rebuild. But I'm probably also going to go to a place that is viable for the brand as well.

Like that matters at this point, I think, in Russell Wilson's career. Well, I would say this. If you like what you see, this is the team that makes sense in a year. Today, Denver Colt Steelers. In a year, the Giants are interesting. If you watch the Giants' new GM, because they do have some nice offensive, pieces and a good D-line. If you like, they have a lot of draft picks. So if you watch them this year and you made the determination you and Mark Rogers, your agent, like, you know, I like Brian

Daibble. Yeah, because neither one of us trusts Daniel Jones. Right, right. In a year, it's New York, it's a great market. It's a proud franchise. If you believe in Daibul. Easy division. Really easy division. Also, it's an offensive league. He's an offensive coach. You saw what he did with Josh Allen. I think in a year the Giants move into a very elite group of teams. He would have to at least go okay, my wife's an entertainer. It's a great brand.

It's a way easier division. Now have to face McVey and Shanahan. Yeah, Giants are interesting next year. He'll be an unrestricted free agent in 2024. Yep. So to me that the Giants is the team that looks really interesting. So the NFL will play

five international games in the upcoming season. I saw that five. Yesterday, they announced the five teams playing in those games. Packers, Bucks, Cardinals, Jags, and Saints. The Jags have committed to play in London every season at Wembley Stadium. Okay. Where the, somebody's playing in Mexico. Yes. The Cardinals will play in Mexico at Estadio Azteca.

I like that. The Raiders did once. I like that. The Packers and Saints will play in London as well at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Or the Bucks playing. The Bucks will play in Germany at Bayern Munich. Love that. First ever regular season game in Germany.

I will say this. the people overseas deserve, God, I hope they don't get Jordan Love and Kyle Trask. And I'd like to see them get a better, I mean, if you send a soccer team over from Europe, you wouldn't send over like a second, third division, send us Manu, send us Liverpool, send us Chelsea. I hope we send them some quality product to our friends. They've been getting a lot of Jacksonville over the years. Dates of the games and the five opposing teams haven't been announced. But I like that the NFL is expanding.

I mean, London's obviously been a big, huge success for the NFL. I don't know how much players like going over there, but I'm sure it's a pretty cool experience. Oh, it's a great experience. And Mexico is very easy, obviously. And the Germany thing is cool. I think it looks cool and it expands the brands of the NFL. I have some cousins that have lived in Germany and absolutely loved it. Germany?

My son's fascinated. I've been to Germany. Oh, did you like it? I did. Yeah. How old were you? I was in ninth grade. Oh, that's no good.

Why? Well, you go for Octoberfest, ninth grader. Oh, yeah. I mean, I enjoyed that part of Germany. But you didn't go. I saw castles in history. I'm a history person. If I go, if I travel very far, I'm not going for drinks.

I can do that in West Hollywood. So you go for castles? I'm going to have some drinks, but I'm going to, yeah, I'm going to, you know, I'm going to go to go to, you know, I'm going to go to, I'm going to go see the history of the place. I will go to, I will go to Germany before. at some point I'll go to Germany my dad went in later in life my dad went to Russia and Egypt fascinated I'd love to go to Egypt yeah I'm gonna pass on Russia for a while but I do think I think Germany's fascinating yeah I think you would like it it's it's lots of obviously lots of history there but yeah I went to Austria Germany now they say everybody

in France smokes well there's a lot of smokers in Europe I was in Italy this this summer everyone smokes everywhere really it's not California And you notice it more because in California, we are, I mean, we're very precious out here and there's no smoking allowed. Like if you smoke cigarettes, you are exiled. You can't smoke near a building. So I don't even know where people do smoke cigarettes here. They do it, but I don't know where they do it. You can't smoke in buildings and you can't smoke anywhere near buildings.

And that's not the case everywhere all over the country. Listen, Pittsburgh, there's some smokers in Pittsburgh. You're allowed to smoke. But yeah, there's a lot of smokers in Europe. So that's just what it is. So the NBA levied a $500,000 fine against the New York Liberty for their repeated use of charter flights over the back end of the season. According to Sports Illustrated, it's a league record number that was actually reduced from $1 million. It also include the removal of Liberty's executive officer Oliver Wiseberg from the league's executive committee.

So apparently the use of charter flights is a violation of the collective bargaining agreements. It's seen as a competitive advantage since all the owners cannot afford to do. do it. The league also considered punishment such as losing every draft pick you have ever seen to suspending ownership, even grounds for termination of the franchise. That seems a little hard. This is

an outrageous story. And the NBA has been dealing with a lot of pushback from players recently. A lot of it because of travel, because you do have the best athletes in the world having to pay to upgrade their seats on planes. There's a lot of investment conversations about how to expand the league

and the owners of the New York Liberty, obviously, not only have the money to do what they want with their team, but also feel like they should treat their professional athletes as such, and travel them as such. So the owners of the team of the New York Liberty actually said they found a way to get charter flights comps for everyone in the league for three years, but it lacked majority support. Some owners worried the players would get used to it,

so there'd be no going back, and others wondered whether players would just prefer a salary hike instead. So it's not a good look for the double. WMBA. I think that the new commissioner, Kathy Engelbert, has done a good job over the past couple years. I think she's really expanded the league. Obviously, again, they're looking, they've done some movement with bringing in money to the league. Sports is exploding everywhere. It's the last live thing you can watch on television. So all sports programming is at a premium. The stars in the league, we know them, we see them. They're very visible. They're very public. But this is a, this is a

nonsense story from the WMBA. You know, it's interesting. This This is why who you allow to own a team matters. Yes. If you buy a professional team in 2022 and can't afford a team plane, maybe you should not be allowed to buy a team. No, I mean, you don't even necessarily have to have a team plane. There are NBA teams that don't have team planes, but they charter flights so that they're, I don't know,

seven foot tall players who just ran on a court for hours are not sitting with their knees in their chest as they go to the next location. When we were kids, when we were kids, when I lived as a kid in the Pacific Northwest, if I was on the first flight out of Seattle at C-Tac, I could have been sitting next to Wilk Chamberlain, had the Lakers just beaten or lost to the Sonics. I'd literally get on the plane and I would be sitting there and Wilk Chamberlain would be next to me in a seat. And the person next to them would have been crushing a sig, putting it out on the, in the That's not that long ago.

Yes. Like Larry Bird Celtics. You're literally leaving Boston to go see your aunt Matilda in Dallas. And Larry Bird sitting next to you after 38 the night before, McCale and Robert Parrish. Yes. And you're sitting there. Give me a gin and tonic.

And hey, Larry, let's talk sports. Yeah. No, it's nuts. And that is how some of these players are traveling. It's egregious. I think it's a shame that this story has become what it is. It's kind of embarrassing. It's not a good look.

You can't terminate a franchise. You can't terminate a franchise because they're treating their players like professional athletes. It's absurd. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The herd line news. It's like when you get in trouble as a kid.

Your mom will say, like, I'm going to ground you. I got in trouble once as a kid. And my mom said, I'm going to ground you for the summer. I'm like, whoa, lady friend, you can't grab me for the summer. I have a job. I have to leave the house. I worked at the state park. Like, my mom got mad at me one time.

It's no big deal. I started a fire almost burnt the house down. But she got very, very mad at me. And she said, I'm going to ground you for the summer. And that was one of her options. And I'm like, that seems a little harsh to me. Well, grounding just means you can't do anything fun. It doesn't mean you can't work.

Yeah, I just, I don't remember being grounded. I pushed back on my mom. I said, what do we? What are you? Steinbrenner? I mean, come on. This is way too emotional. And she was very English and reticent and quite.

My mom wasn't somebody that was not up and down at all. So that, that, that's like that. I'm going to terminate the franchise. Come on, Cowboy. Let's slow down a little bit on that. It's ridiculous. A fine. And by the way, you buy a franchise, buy a plane.

We're going to play Colin Fidensmeter, confidence meter. And so we bring it back one to 10. One, I have no confidence. 10, I have a ton of confidence heading into the second half of the season. One team,

people are going to hate my ranking. It's the very first one. So Joy, let's go. What is your Colin Fidence level that the heat can win the NBA title? I'm just going to tell you right now. I'm way lower on the heat that everybody else is. I love their coach, and I think they're built for the regular season. I probably have them a spot too low. My confidence meter with them is about a four. It should probably be about a six, but here's my thing.

Their bench scoring is great, but your bench shrinks on the postseason. Bench scoring's not taking you to do a title. So I'm okay with having average bench scoring. You don't win championships because you have the best bench. They do get Victorola Depot back, and they're playing well. And they've played well against the better teams. And so they have two stars. Bam and Jimmy Butler.

But they both kind of feel one A to me, not like A. They're not as good as Embed in my opinion. They're not as good as Janus in my opinion. They're not as good as Harden in my opinion. Tyler Hero's playing well. He's bounced back year. But this is the classic team that I think is built. They'll win a playoff series.

But I think they're going to come up against better players. Their bench scoring won't be nearly as critical as it is in their regular season. So my confidence is very low. What is your confidence level that the Bucks can win the NBA title? Okay, the Bucks is very high. I'd have them eight or nine. Why? Now, they're very Yonis dependent.

And they don't have a bench. But I don't care. After, you know, you got seven guys who can play. I don't care about eight, nine, ten. The bottom line is they miss Lopez. Okay, they're not, they don't rebound as well. They don't defend the three as well. But Drew Holiday, I trust him in the playoffs.

Janice, I trust him in the playoffs. Chris Middleton last year, very good in the playoffs. They don't have a bench, but I also think championship teams tend to ignite when the playoffs start. So I think they'll find, I've watched a lot of Milwaukee in the last month. My confidence meter in the east is high. The Nets. One, don't buy them at all, not this year. Maybe next year, Kevin Durant's hurt.

Simmons hasn't played since the playoffs last year. They have weird personalities. Don't buy them at all this year. Listen, if Simmons comes out with Kyrie and Kevin Durant, they'll be interesting, and they'll have nights, but we have no idea about their chemistry. I mean, Philadelphia's chemistry is a work in progress. Their best guys haven't even played a practice yet together. The Warriors. Six.

I don't know if they're big enough to win. Like, here's the thing I like about them. Second most threes in the game, best home team in the league, very stiff dependent. But that's okay. I like Steph. Bucks are Janus dependent. That's okay. I like Janus. All the LeBron championship teams, we're LeBron dependent. They're small. Dremont's hurt. They need him. Clay is, again, good, is the old clay. I think they're going to have to play Jonathan Cumminga, a 6-7-225 rookie who's wildly athletic. They're going to have to play him in the postseason more than they're comfortable with. I still don't know if James Wiseman fits. I'd say a 6. Grizzlies.

A 3. I think they're so much fun. to watch, but they don't shoot the three at all. And let's be honest, refs swallow the whistle in the playoffs. So this team is second in the NBA in free throw attempts, not getting those in the playoffs. Young teams and free throw shooting teams don't get the respect in the playoffs. So they're going to have to earn it so that they'll win a playoff series and then they're done.

Mavericks. About a four. I feel the same. I will say this. Since Porzingis left, they're a better team. It's a classic example of Westbrook. He was bad for chemistry. They play a real defense.

So you think it's Luca, but Luca's in shape this year and they play real defense. They defend the three. They defend the interior. It's a real team. They will win a playoff series and they are thriving. They're like the Miami Heat. I don't think they can win a championship. I probably have Dallas like Miami low because you wouldn't be shocked if Miami was Spolstra

or Luca carried them to a second playoff win. The Bulls. I think they're deeper than the Mavericks. So I would say five. Listen, they got two stars. They shoot the three well. They shoot the field goal percentage well. It's a good offensive team.

They don't have a bench where I don't mind a team with stars not having a bench like Philadelphia. I don't think they have enough stars to overcome no bench. I think their bench would be more important. Bulls of five. Sense. Ten. I think it's a championship team. I think Chris Paul comes back.

I got a bench. I get youth. I get a big. I get a score. get leadership. I got the coach I like. There's nothing. The only question about them, they're also the best clutch team in the NBA 24 and 5 in clutch time games. Only thing I wonder is they don't always shoot the three great. They can dry out a little at the three, but I think they're so deep and so gifted and so versatile, it won't matter. Sixers. Eight, I love them. No bench scoring,

but again, I'm okay with that. If you have two dominant scores, I think between Maxie and Hardin and Tobias Harris and Embeded. They are very Joel Embed dependent. They are, but that's okay. He's the closest thing to Shaq we've seen. I'm okay with it. They're co-favorites to win. I think they're going to meet Milwaukee in a seven-game series and health.

And who hits the free throws late, we'll decide it. The Lakers aren't on the list. That's because the Lakers are broken. The thermometer is broken. It's currently, but they're going to send it in for repairs in the offseason. But currently their chemistry is not good. And AD's not healthy. So I try to be very optimistic about the Lakers today.

Very positive. You were positive. Give some hope. Now, I do think with Dallas and the Heat, the Heat fans are going to look at this and go, you've got to be out of your mind. Victor Oladipo's coming back. But here's the thing. And they'll win a playoff series.

All that bench scoring, I don't care about your bench scoring if you have two great stars. And Bam and Jimmy Butler are not as good as Embed. and Harden, to me, as offensive players. And so in the end, I think Philadelphia's bench scoring, lack of it doesn't bother me. And I just, I don't think Miami's built for more than a series. And there right now the number one seed. So it sounds, years ago, Atlanta was a one seed, bounced early. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
