This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey, guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the ice.
Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, it's Edwin Castro, also known as Castro 1021.
And I'm Conky, his best friend and business manager.
And we've got a new show called The 1021 Podcast.
I'm taking you behind the scenes on how I became one of Twitch's most popular streamers.
We also love sports.
And with the World Cup right around the corner, we'll be breaking down the biggest
storylines ahead of the big tournament here in the USA.
Listen to the 1021 podcast on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm Joey Dardano, and on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with thoughtful solutions.
Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice.
Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to me.
This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the devil's.
dumbest people you know. Listen to help from Hippocrite Wednesdays on the IHeart radio app,
Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast.
Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to

But why don't we go back to the NFL and let's go to Eric Mangini, former Jetshead coach.
He's all over TV at FIS.
Always really looking sharp, although I'm sure he's wearing shorts in this.
Eric, how was your Fourth of July, excellent or awesome?
How are we doing?
It was, Fourth of July was fantastic.
Had a bunch of family in town, had all the boys at home,
and great weather where I was as well.
so couldn't have asked for more.
A peek behind the curtain.
So when I got to FS1, Eric Vanjini started coming on the shows,
and I'm sure he was annoyed, but I would pester him because I'm a Jets fan.
I would just pepper him with all these Jets questions.
And he's really smart and thoughtful,
and he would look at me like, what is this guy's agenda?
But all I want to know about is my Jets.
So, you know, you had Brian Schottenheimer as your offensive coordinator.
Now, my memories of him were probably not as great as yours.
I remember him being ultra-conservative and boring.
no creativity, and that I thought held you guys back a little.
But he's now the coach of the Cowboys, and I'm curious, your thoughts on Brian Chottnheimer,
is he almost underrated?
Yeah, when the Cowboys hired him, it wasn't the typical Cowboys hire, right?
They want to get the splashy name and very different offseason for Dallas in general,
where they're not over-promising like they typically do.
So there's a lot of a lot of negativity around picking Brian.
But what people don't realize is Brian is as qualified as any other first year head coach.
He's been in the league a long time.
He comes from a football family.
When I hired him, he was with the San Diego charges at the time.
And we had played the charges the year before in New England.
And their offense was really difficult to defend.
There was shifting and motioning.
multiple formations, very creative, and that's something that I wanted to bring to the Jets.
But there were other things that we wanted to incorporate as well.
And in sitting down with Brian, he had strong beliefs as to what he wanted to do,
but he was open-minded enough to incorporate a lot of other things.
So we were going to take elements from what we did in New England.
We were going to take elements from what they did in New York prior to us getting there
and what they'd done with the charges as well and build our arms.
offense. And that's what I really like about Brian is that he is, he has conviction,
but he's also willing to hear people out and to incorporate new ideas and to try to innovate.
And to me, that's an undervalued asset for any head coach.
Yeah, a little question, though, is, and you can't put a number on this,
but there's some strong personalities on that team, adding pickings, obviously, to see
Lee Lamb and then Micah Parsons in his podcast.
There's just a lot going on in Dallas.
And I wonder, for a first time head coach, I know his dad, you know, he's been around the
league for a long time.
His dad, obviously, coach forever.
Is that a lot to handle this?
Like, it would be much easier if Schottenheimer's first coaching job was in like Jacksonville,
out of the spotlight.
Now you've got strong players, strong owner, a lot of national TV games, America's team for
whoever still believes that.
It just feels like a little too much for Shottie.
Well, anytime you bring in challenging personalities, you're going to have to navigate through that.
Brian's always done a good job relating to the players that he's coach, especially the quarterbacks.
He's built long-term relationships with all the guys that he's coached at the quarterback position,
and now you have to expand that out.
He did it as well as an offensive coordinator, but now it's the whole team.
Another thing that's going overlooked is the addition of Matt Iberflus.
And you can say what you want about him as a head coach,
He's an excellent defensive coordinator.
And when he took over, when he took back over in Chicago, the defense made some significant
strides.
I think he's going to be excellent there as a defensive coordinator.
I think the other thing is he does bring head coaching experience.
He's fresh out of it.
He's made mistakes.
He's gone through different challenges.
And him and Brian have a good relationship.
And that has significant.
value as well. All right, let's pivot to a team that really matters this season. The Jets.
Well, not really. They don't matter. I just, for my purposes. Justin Fields at quarterback,
new offensive coordinator, new head coach, first time head coach and Aaron Glenn. Just so much
newness across the board. However, last year, Washington had a ton of newness, owner, coach,
coordinators, but they had experienced guys. Like, you know, obviously Quinn had been to a Super Bowl.
I just don't see the Jets being great this year, but is there a case for Justin Fields to dominate and crush it?
Well, I'm a big Aaron Glenn fan.
I coach Aaron Glenn when I was in New York with Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick,
so I know what type of guy he is.
And Aaron has gone through the process.
He started as a scout, and then he worked in personnel, and he was an assistant coordinator.
So I think that has a huge value.
Plus he was an exceptional player.
So he brings that cachet.
He's been with the organization.
So that hire, I thought, was great.
But he is inexperienced as a head coach,
and there's a lot of guys on his staff that are inexperienced as well.
And then that could work both ways.
Some of it is you're going to make mistakes that maybe you wouldn't
if you had gone through it.
but there's also some freshness of ideas that you're not set in your way.
So that can be valuable as well.
In terms of Justin Fields, I like the signing in the sense that they've paid, what,
$40 million for two years, which is under what most significantly under what most
quarterbacks are getting for one.
And he's improved every year that he's played.
And it hasn't been these gigantic jumps, but he's made,
he's made jumps in completion percentage
and interception to touchdown ratio
into the amount of sacks that he's taken
that you've seen real progress
and this is kind of the anti-Jetts experience right
so Jets quarterbacks go other places
and hit and now the Jets are trying to take
someone's quarterback that didn't hit
and turn him into a star so
maybe the reverse engineering hit
will work great from New York
I love the optimism
all right let's quickly
pivot here to Brett Veach, the big boss at the Chiefs.
You know, I was talking about Travis Kelsey and essentially was like, this might be it.
Like this could be a swan song.
I don't know.
We're not taking it out of context.
It's part of a larger quote, but like it's an actual quote about his fading, if you
will, 35 soon to be 36 year old tight end.
But we had Albert Breer come on earlier, coach, and essentially say, hey, the Chief's
offense could be better with the wide receivers healthy.
They may not need Kelsey to do that much.
Your thoughts on the Chiefs and Kelsey?
Well, we dinged Kelsey for his season last year, but he still had a great season,
where he had 96 catches, the touchdowns were down more than we would have liked.
But what I didn't love about Kelsey's offseason last year was he was in the new relationship
with the most famous singer-performer world.
So there's that component of it, and I don't begrudge anybody from experiencing all the can experience.
But he was traveling a lot.
He was doing a lot of things collected are associated with that.
And then he had the TV show.
He had the game show.
He had the podcast.
He was extremely active.
And this is after back-to-back shortened off-season because they had gone so deep with the Super Bowl appearances.
It's a lot.
It's a lot.
And I love that this off-season, he's been very low-key.
It seems like he's taken a step back.
He's gotten some time for himself to recalibular.
and it does get harder as you get older,
but his approach this offseason,
I think, has been very different
and will help him significantly.
And you could kill him for his production last year,
but his production last year was pretty good,
you know, compared to his peer group.
Compared to his peer group, yes,
but like a couple years prior to that,
he was like totally dominant and unstoppable.
I like, you must have been hanging around your kids a lot
because you just used low-key,
and that was like the buzzword for us.
I was going to say, Travis Kelsey has low-key washed,
but that might be a little bit harsh.
But it sounds like you, you know,
that's a good point about his off-seasons
have been kind of sort of busy.
I forgot he hosted a game show.
He did everything last year.
It was commercials.
It was travel.
It was the high-profile relationship.
It was the game show.
Remember the, I thought he was great on it.
The TV show was a grotesquery.
I thought he did a great job with that as well.
he was setting himself for life after football,
setting himself up after football,
and then I imagine as he went through last season
and the season ended the way that it did,
now he's not ready for life after football,
and he wants to go run it back.
And I'm sure it's year to year now,
but I dialed in, focus, Travis Kelsey is a dangerous, steady defense.
That's a great take,
because it reminds me of what Baker Mayfield was with the Browns
and led the NFL in commercials,
and he just didn't really produce you.
Remember that?
You may be familiar with that era.
Look, I loved his commercials.
I thought they were fantastic.
He actually really funny,
but it didn't help him on the field at that point.
Yeah, yeah.
All right, Eric Mangini, breakfast ball,
every show at FS1,
very thoughtful, former head coach.
You know, maybe Glenn will bring you into training camp
to talk to the guys.
Sounds like you guys are friendly still.
I talk to Aaron not too long.
long ago. And I haven't been back to Jets World in quite some time, but I'm definitely sharing for him.
There's a lot of former players now with Ravel at New England. I'm excited for both those guys.
And I'm excited to see how they impact their programs and knowing their personality and watching
their stories. Yeah, I would say Glenn's handled the New York media well so far.
So that's another one of your guys. You've got people everywhere. All right, Eric, thanks a lot.
this summer. We'll talk to you soon.
All right. Awesome. Talk to you soon.
Yeah. Eric Manjin. That's a good take, Alex.
That's a great take. I totally forgot.
He's pulled a million different ways with a podcast and the TV show and all this stuff.
Taylor Swift. All right. So coming up next, the herd is moving to the Fox Sports app.
We'll have Adam Chernoff on, gambling guru, made everybody, including myself money last year.
He's calling for a Bill's Ram Super Bowl. We'll talk a lot of other prop bets and stuff.
Coming up next on FS1, the Women's Euro 2025, Norway versus Iceland.
We'll see you on the app.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app.
Hey, what's up everybody? It's me, three-time Pro Bowl of LaVar Arrington, and I couldn't be more excited to announce a podcast called Up on Game.
What is Up on Game, you ask?
along with my fellow pro-bowler, T.J. Hushmanzada and Super Bowl champion.
Yep, that's right. Plexico Burris.
You can only name a show with that type of talent on it.
Up on Game.
We're going to be sharing our real-life experiences loaded with teachable moments.
Listen to Up on Game with me, LaVar Arrington, T.J.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers.

Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.

Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to us.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
And we were thinking I'm originally calling it.
One of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen.
We don't care where you hear it.

Good stuff from Eric Mangini.
Let's go to Alex Curry with the news.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Well, Jemak, NBA tipped off their Summer League.
Oh, yes.
This week in Vegas, but all eyes will be on tonight's matchup between the Mazz and Lakers.
With Cooper Flagg making his debut against Brony James,
ticket prices are nearing record prices for tonight, with the average ticket going for $223,
which is just shy of Wembe's Summer League debut at $297.
But Cooper Flagg is a real thing.
real deal. He's a new face of the franchise. I was extremely impressed when I got to interview him
when he was out here after his college football season accepting his wooden award. I mean, this kid
eats, sleeps, breathes basketball. It's in his DNA. Both of his parents played basketball.
His twin brother plays basketball. His older sibling plays basketball. And he told me,
because I asked, like, are you going to take a little break? What are he doing before the draft?
So this was pre-draft. He's like, well, I want to keep practicing.
And he's like, but my agent and my family are forcing me to take a break.
So this is a kid that all he wants to do is be the best that he can be, get better every single day.
We heard it in his draft press conference when he said, I just want to be a sponge and soak everything up and be better.
But this is going to be an interesting.
Obviously, it's going to be a lot of eyeballs on this matchup tonight.
Brani should be better because he has an NBA season under his belt and he's played an NBA game.
games, but what are you expecting
from this debut? I'm expecting us to lead
the show tomorrow with Cooper Flag. Yes, we
are. I think Yovan Booho
was on earlier and said, yeah, 20 points seems realistic.
I just want to see that
he's dominant, like right out of the
game. Should be able to be dominant.
You never can read
too much into Summer League, right? No.
You don't want to overreact.
But you do want to see your number one
overall pick, who I said is going to
move more than one MVP, who I'm compared to
Kevin Garnett. I know you're going to
See him.
Hard in the pain.
Well, listen, Kevin Garnett wasn't blowing away people in Summer League.
Yeah.
But I think he can.
So I would go for anything short of 20 and 10 would be a little bit of a disappointment.
Okay.
I mean, but Cooper Flagg has been blowing people away since high school.
He's been breaking records since high school is one year at Duke.
Like, if anybody is going to do it, I don't think it.
I mean, he's worked the last.
Okay, so when he's like 11 years old, he's probably like I'm going to the NBA.
That's what I was saying.
Yeah.
Okay.
I had no chance.
Yeah.
Cooper flag had a chance.
So for like seven years he's worked up to this moment.
Now he's here.
Yeah.
Probably some butterflies.
He is so calm, cool, and collected.
Like, when you talk to this kid, like, it's just, this is what I'm supposed to be doing,
and this is what I'm doing, and here I am.
And I'm going to do the best that I can.
As for the brawny angle, you just want to see improvement all around game.
You know, again, I said, can he be T.J. McConnell-ish next year for the Lakers?
maybe a stretch, but I think that's what he should aim for.
Like, look at this guy, he's looked okay at moments in the summer league.
Better.
He's looked better.
And I think people, like, also need to remember before his rookie season, he had cardiac arrest.
The heart thing, yeah.
Yeah.
In college, like, he was also fighting back from a huge adversity.
And he is another great athlete who is, obviously, his dad is one of the greatest of all time.
So you're training with the best of the best.
But for Brony, this should be a big improvement.
He has NBA games under his belt, so he should be better.
Five o'clock Pacific.
Eight, eight Eastern, yes, fired up.
All right, to the NFL where Pete Carroll will take over the Raiders this offseason
and is looking to create a new culture in Las Vegas.
Face of the Raiders, Max Bronsby says that it's not fake energy from his new coach,
adding things just feel different in the building, which they should.
Pete Carroll is a culture creator, and that's exactly what the Raiders need.
That's why they hired him.
They have a lot of new, obviously, this year with Pete Carroll.
They hired Chip Kelly as their offensive coordinator.
Trader for Gino Smith, drafted Ashton Genti.
Now, do I think the Raiders are going to win the division?
No.
Like, they have Chiefs, Chargers, and Broncos in that division.
But I do think that they're going to be better this year.
You?
I'm focusing on that not fake energy line.
Why?
Do you think this is a dig at the last coach?
The linebacker Pierce, who came on and was like very rah-rah.
You know, he's a former player.
No.
I wonder if...
No, I think just because with heat, there comes a lot with it.
Obviously, like, when he was at SC, you would have celebrities in practice.
Like, he's won at every level and he knows what it takes to win.
So he's saying it's not fake.
He is the real deal.
is how I'm reading it to that.
Oh, one of the producers,
I can't take credit for this.
That's smart.
Josh McDaniels was a coach before Pierce.
Okay.
Is the fake energy a jab at Javit.
Now, McDaniels have been a guest on here.
He seems like a nice guy.
I would love to drill down.
Max Crosby, not a fan of my work,
because I didn't have it.
There's like a top five defensive end
and all these radio fans.
I made a comment on the show.
I was like, Max, come on, dog.
Geez.
You can't blame him, though.
You gotta believe in yourself.
So you gotta call out people who also don't.
I didn't think he was a top five pass freshman league.
Like, it's not bad if you're number six.
It's like when I call Michael Jordan the second greatest player of all time.
Oh my God, Jason, you're crazy.
I'm like, he's the second greatest player ever in the history of basketball.
Yeah.
Let's stop freak out.
Okay.
Let's move to baseball.
Where despite having the best record in the National League,
the Dodgers have been struggling as of late,
getting swept in back-to-back series to the Astros and the Brewers
dropping their sixth straight game over the span.
LA has struggled on all cylinders
with a minus 34 run differential,
which is their worst over a six-game set since 1958.
And what I have to say here to fans,
baseball fans, Dodger fans,
we are in the dog days of summer.
This is what happens in a baseball season
when you play 162 games.
You are going to have ups and downs.
This is the time if you are going to have a down to do it
because you're about to head on the All-Star break,
so guys are about to get a nice,
little reset and refresh.
They do have some good news.
The good news is Tyler Glassnow returned yesterday.
He looked good.
Blake Snell and Blake Triton are nearing a return.
They have started their rehab assignments.
Kershaw is overperforming.
He made history, joining the 3,000 strikeout club.
And then you have Otani, who is ahead of schedule.
There is some bad news with the Dodgers.
The bullpen is getting taxed.
Max Muncie is out until about August.
But also it's a bone bruise on his knee, which was best case scenario compared to possible.
Everyone thought it might have been an ACL or something like that.
So MRI showed no structural damage.
So best case scenario there.
And then Roki Sasaki also has no official return date.
So the Dodgers have a lot of moving pieces.
I wouldn't look too much into this.
This is a completely normal baseball slump and actually happening at a good time right when guys can go take a break and reset.
So I'm looking at the run differential.
That on the screen it says outscore by 34 runs significant.
So before that, the Dodgers were almost a 100 run differential, right?
The Cubs are number one by a mile.
But all of a sudden...
They still have the best record of baseball, you guys.
They do, they do.
That's the thing.
The record is tops...
You're fine.
It's just a little six games stretch.
Six games is the equivalent of, what, like maybe a half, a bad NFL half of football, like one game?
One half of one game.
A week?
So if you play 162 games, I'm...
Don't make me do math right now.
It's early.
So basically the cheats are down 21-0 at half time.
Maybe a quarter?
I think it's closer to maybe a quarter, but either way.
Yeah.
Like you said, this is nothing.
Nothing.
Alex with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Herd Lye News.

Back here on the herd, Jason McIntyre in for Colin Cowherd.
So several years ago, I forget where I was and I heard this guy speak about gambling.
And I was like, dude, he's next level.
Like, I mean, this is his laser focus.
So let's bring on Adam Turnoff, NFL gambling analyst.
He's taking the leap.
He hosts a simple handicapped podcast.
He's also taking the leap.
He's trying to go about this by himself, a men among boys in the gambling space.
All right, Adam. Last time you were on the show, you killed me from my Minnesota Vikings take.
So I don't know if I could bounce back from that one.
You do not love the Vikings like I do.
But I do want to do some NFL win totals.
Have you really circled anything on the board here?
A lot of folks are going to be heading to Vegas in the summer months.
I want to put some season-long bets on the board.
What do you got?
Yeah, so you didn't really give me any easy layups to go with this week.
because you didn't really have any crazy hot takes like your JJ McCarthy once.
So we'll try give some other directions here for folks to go
and maybe throw some criticism at me instead of you.
So let's go with some season-long futures.
I'll give you three.
Let's start with one and I'll judge your outrage as we go here.
Trevor Lawrence to lead the league in touchdowns,
you can bet that at 28 to 1.
And there's a few things here that lead me to believe
this is going to be Trevor Lawrence's best season in his career.
So he's been dealing with Doug Peterson, giving up play, calling duties.
He's been dealing with an offense that's been very disjointed.
He's had the highest drop rate of any quarterback the last three seasons combined.
So it's not like he hasn't been moving the football efficiently.
And this year, to me, is just a big reset for him.
He gets Liam Cohen coming in.
And the big thing Cohen's going to do is introduce a very creative run game.
That's going to take a lot of pressure off of him.
He's got a bona fide superstar wide receiver and Robinson.
If he can find the number two and some help,
I think it's a very big year for Trevor Lawrence.
So 28 to 1.
It's probably pretty high in the outrage of Rameeter,
but maybe we can go a little bit more with these other two.
Well, I'm curious.
So is the defense that bad that they're going to be playing catch-up a lot?
Because, you know, it seems like Cohen's a run-first guy run to set up the pass in Tampa.
He had the three running backs who absolutely crushed it.
Yeah, it was.
And you look at Baker-Mayfield's numbers,
and they absolutely exploded last year for over 4,500 yards.
And I think it's going to be a case of the Jags being in a lot.
lot of competitive games because the defense still has a long way to go. It's tough to be worse than
last year, but it'll be a step forward. And if that run game is alleviating some of the pressure
and opening up some space, I think not only is that going to help Lawrence find some more open
receivers, but it's also going to allow the offense to take a big step forward too. So it's a
combo of both very friendly schedule, a lot of indoor road games as well. There's four of them. So just
a lot of positive signs here and a big price for Trevor Lawrence to have a big breakout year.
Well, I like that because everybody crushed him for that contract.
Oh, he's not worth it.
Like, let's settle down.
Your next one involves
Roma Dunesay, really?
The Chicago Bears?
Oh, my gosh, this is crazy.
He's going to be the best wide receiver
for the Bears from a stats perspective,
from a performance perspective.
A personnel guy within the league,
who I trust a ton when it comes to player evaluation.
I was talking with him,
and I said, like, who's the breakout guy?
Who's going to stand out this year?
And really, without hesitation,
he said Roma Dunzee is going to take a big leap.
Last year, you think about what the Bears went through.
Three different play callers, a rookie QB coming in to try to find this rookie wide receiver.
It was just, there was so many moving parts, so much thrown at Williams and this offense.
That's all entirely reset.
Ben Johnson, one of the best player callers in the NFL, is already holding both Williams and a Dunezay,
as well as the entire offense to a really high standard.
There's a rebuilt offensive line.
I think it's a massive year for a Dunezay.
So a thousand plus receiving yards for Rome is available at plus 175.
I think that's a great bet to make.
I think he goes over that.
If you're a fantasy player, he's definitely a guy you want to circle as well.
So it's a big year upcoming for Roma.
Doonese maybe starts a little bit slow as that offense finds its footing,
but lots of opportunity for him to catch a ton of passes this year.
Did I hear you correctly?
He's the best receiver.
You think he's better than DJ Moore right now?
I think he will be the Bears wide receiver number one this year.
That's spicy.
All right, your final one involves a guy we talked about earlier, Jared Goff.
Listen, we're not bullish on the Lions in these waters.
Sounds like you're not either.
Yeah, have win totals under on the Lions.
We're one of the first bets I made this spring when all those numbers were posted.
And I think about Jared Goff and the support that he's received,
really the last decade after his first year with Jeff Fisher leading that Rams team,
he's had Sean McVeigh in his ear for several seasons.
And then he had Ben Johnson in his ear for several seasons.
several seasons in the transition to Detroit.
You're talking about a quarterback who has a very storied history of needing help pre-snap.
Lots of documented analysis, commentary about how much help he receives pre-snap before that communication cuts off with 15 seconds to go.
And he's had two of the best in the business guiding him through not only play calling, but reading at the line of scrimmage, setting up plays.
I know the lines still have a ton of pieces, but this is really,
a big departure from having an elite play caller alongside of him.
A lot of brain power to replace for this lion's coaching staff.
I think when you're looking at his passing yards total,
it's 3,875 and a half yards.
I would happily go under that if you're still seeing that price.
Again, have Lions win totals under at 10 and a half as well.
We must, we're contractually obligated to talk Kansas City Chiefs
because of Taylor Swift, Patrick Bahams, blah, blah, blah.
Always.
I don't know, is it crazy to do one of these.
missed the bet playoffs on the Chiefs?
You could say yes, I don't mind, because Albert Breer came on earlier and said,
listen, this offense, if the wide receivers are healthy, could be better than last year.
And they had Pacheco kind of banged up last year.
I don't personally see it, but there's a, I mean, hell, anything's possible, right?
Well, this is the first year in, what, three or four that the Chiefs have gone into a season
with returning wide receivers.
And I was just reading something that came out of training sessions that the Chiefs had
a couple of days ago.
And Patrick Mahomes was talking about how this is not learning the playbook.
This is not relying on rookies this season to come in and learn formations and learn
snap counts and learn cadence and learn where to line up.
They're talking about guys in the huddle between the three wide receivers getting angry
at each other because they want to be the one that's featured catching these passes
in practice because everybody knows where to go and knows where to line up and everything
is familiar.
So this season and this off season so far has been about expanding the playbook and expanding roles,
which is very different than the last, it seems like a very long time.
We've talked about the Chiefs every season.
Who's going to be the number one?
How are they going to get these young guys involved?
That's not the case this year.
So I don't know how anybody can comfortably have lower expectations on the Chiefs this year,
especially the offense.
I think there's a very high ceiling with Mahomes and all these guys returning.
to, again, like Mahom said the other day,
expand on the playbook and improve.
So I wouldn't be betting on them to miss the playoffs.
I think that's just off-season hyperbole
that we see a ton every single year.
I think the Chiefs offense can be pretty scary this year.
Interesting. Chiefs fans will love to hear that.
I mean, more Kansas City Chiefs, Adam.
That's what we did.
All right, we got a minute left.
I will wrap up with a Jets question
because you are somehow a Jets fan.
Mr. Canada, a Jets fan.
I'm not bullish on this year.
I'm actually thinking if they bought him
out. It's a good quarterback class, supposedly next year. I don't know. Five, six wins is not the end of the world.
We haven't made the playoffs in forever. What's the rush now? Your thought on the Jets macro big picture this year?
I think it's a great reset year. I'm happy that we've seen Glenn take the approach that everything just needs to be quiet this offseason.
I think the roster still has a lot of very good pieces that could make them a very sneaky bet week to week, especially early in the season.
But yeah, like you said, I think if they get out of this with six,
wins, a high draft pick next year. They're able to stabilize this new coaching staff. It's a step
in the right direction. Anything more than that would be a very pleasant surprise for me personally.
But I think they're probably a sneaky week-to-week underdog to be backing early on in the season
in September. Wait a minute. I'm sorry. You will be betting the Jets week to week? Or is that maybe?
They're going to have inflated point spreads. And there's still, again, a lot of talent on this team.
You're giving me some bigger numbers against some hyped up competition. I think they're going to be
a pretty good bet early on.
I think they open with the Steelers.
Not saying they're going to go out and win and shock the world,
but they're going to be more competitive than I think people think.
The opener against the Steelers,
is it two and a half or three?
You're like in the Jets there?
I am.
We'll see what that number gets to with some Steelers hype, but absolutely.
Oh, okay.
All right.
Adam, turn off.
You got to listen to his podcast,
The Simple Handicap.
It's great on gambling.
Adam.
Good stuff.
We'll talk to you probably in August right before the season
when your thoughts are crystallized and the bets are all over the board.
Thanks, ma'am.
Awesome. Looking forward to it. Enjoy the rest of the summer.
All right, you too. Adam Chernoff, really good stuff.
Boy, I just got a little excited there, Alex.
I mean, he's going to be betting Jets week to week, maybe.
Yeah. You've tempered your expectations on the weekends.
I will give you that. You've done a great job of not getting over excited.
I think because you did with Rogers and got let down.
But he's right. Like there is a lot of good new.
It's like when you get hyped for like a date. You're like, oh, yeah.
Low expectations and then you get excited.
Under promise, overdelivered.
Yes.
That's the strat. Really? I'm just out of here teaching.
All right. Good show. Thanks to Mancini, Chernoff, Albert Breer,
booha. Can the Lakers go out and get Bradley Biel? Please just do it.
Come on.
