This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey,
or my career in sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast,
The Clifers Show.
This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes,
creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard,
but celebrated. So let's get to it.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hardway with your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor.
It signals to the world that you not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to,
listen to learn the hard way on the IHard radio app, Apple Podcast,
or wherever you get your podcast.
Thanks for listening to The HARD podcast.

heard. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Terry Bradshaw escaped with his million dollars last week,
but the nation has another chance to win a $1 million this Sunday playing Fox Bet, Super 6. Last
week, one player from New York would have won a million if the Raiders beat the Titans by 8 or
more, but they ended up losing by 2. Download the Super 6 app and enter your six picks in the NFL
Sunday Challenge contest for a chance to become a millionaire.
Why don't you give us your favorite number so far?
I gave you mine, Cincinnati, going to bury Miami tomorrow.
That's my favorite pick of the week.
Can I do it after Kevin Clark?
I need to look at my notes.
I don't have it off the top of my head, coward.
I'm not that good.
You work with me long enough.
You'll get there.
Kevin Clark at the ringer, he had a slow newsday video podcast.
This is interesting.
I was recently a guest on it, not nearly as funny as Scott Van Pelt,
whose dog pooped live.
Anyway, it's a great point.
podcast. So Ed Reed said something that I'm hearing a lot and it bothers me.
That, hey, man, it's a business. And my takeaway is always been quarterback winning is the
business. Lamar was offered a contract. He's going to get paid either $300,000,000 million
or $400,000. He'd going to be fine. But when Kyler protected himself, it literally turned the
offseason in Arizona upside down. He played safe. And I'm like, oh,
Omar, don't do that. You're beloved in the league. You're beloved in Baltimore. Don't
play safe. When Ed Reed said that, was there any part of you that went, I don't know,
because it didn't for me. I'm like, oh, no, no, no, let's not go there. I've seen that with
Kyler. Don't go there. What was your takeaway on it? Well, the most surprising thing to me was
that Ed Reed said that he changed in the last year of his rookie deal with the Ravens and started
to practice in a different way and play in a different way. I found that extremely fascinating.
I don't necessarily agree with Ed that you need to change your playing style going into this year.
I do believe the Ravens would hold it against him if he got hurt.
But on the other hand, like, that's just part of football.
Right now, Lamar Jackson, this is unbelievable.
He's accounting for 87% of the Ravens yards.
By the way, they're the number one scoring offense in football.
He is fifth in the NFL in rushing average, rushing yards and number one in rushing average.
He's the only player, I think, in history to have this many.
100-yard rushing games in a row as well as throwing touchdown passes.
What he's doing is unprecedented.
That's how you get.
The rumors are he wants the Deshaun Watson contract who's $230 million guaranteed.
That's how you get it.
It's not shutting it down.
If he gets hurt, yes, that will complicate things.
But I remember, Colin, years ago, John Madden talking about week 17 game, week 16 game
and saying, the moment you start worrying about getting hurt is when you get hurt.
What he meant by that was you start to go half speed, you start to call different plays,
your mind starts churning.
Him going out there and playing the way he's currently playing
is the way to get that contract,
not going the other way and shutting it down
until you get that money.
So some of the initial reactions
to the very talented Ken Dorsey's sort of rage
were interesting.
My takeaway is the media wants access.
We get it and then we complain about what we see or here.
But a lot of people that I respect
did not like it.
It thought it hurt it.
What I think is funny, the other coaches are like, they've seen it before.
They're not, they're not freaking out.
Staring straight ahead.
Right.
What did you make of it?
It's funny.
I've heard people in the league who've heard the raw sort of miced up footage, and they say that if there was any ever a raw leak of that footage, players talking to each other, players talking to coaches, if it wasn't sanitized, any of them, that would be a national scandal.
Like that, you'd take any game ever, there would be a national scandal because of the emotion and the things.
that are said on the field, probably in the coaching box.
I kind of hear it before.
If you're walking about by a press box,
the coaches talk to them each among each other and you go,
whoa, wow, didn't expect that.
You hear that stuff. That's the emotion.
So you have a camera there and you get to see it.
Yeah, I mean, Sean McDermott said that he talked to Ken Dorsey about it,
and he said he wanted his leaders to have a little more composure,
but he also likes seeing the competitive spirit.
I spent a long time with Ken Dorsey in Rochester at training camp
just a couple weeks ago.
He is as calm as it gets, 99% of the time.
He is a great leader in that regard, and he's got this edge to him, which I kind of like.
I mean, I don't think that his stock has dropped or anything since Sunday.
I think it's a viral moment.
I think everybody's there.
I mean, I was behind the giant sideline the other day, Colin, during that Cowboys game.
And Brian Daibold got just as upset.
He just happened to be standing up and walking back and forth, and he didn't have a little, you know,
he didn't have a notepad to slam down.
So I think every coach goes through stuff like this.
This is his third game as a play caller.
Listen, he's never like, this is not a situation where it's like he's been calling plays this whole life and he's got his. No, no, no, no. He was going to call plays for the first time at Appalachian State four years ago. He ended up getting the quarterback's job in Buffalo and his whole trajectory change. So he's new with this, even though he's a familiar name, I'm not surprised that he had this outburst. I'm also not surprised that I think the bills players kind of love it. This is this is a neutral thing for him. It's just us seeing a different side of coaches we don't normally get to see, Colin.
So there's an interesting piece of video out there, and I don't know if we have it.
It's Jimmy Garoppolo.
It looks like he's dog cussing Kyle Shanahan's plays.
So listen, I supported him because I said, basically, he didn't get a playbook.
He didn't practice.
He didn't play.
He didn't start in the first two weeks.
His first assignment is go to Denver's altitude and be great against that pass rush
and Patrick Sertain.
Like Denver's defense is big boy defense.
Like, folks, I saw Joe Burrow, who didn't practice or play in the preseason, really scuffle in week one.
It happens.
That said, there's that video out there.
I'm not a lip reader.
Do you think there is a little animosity with Jimmy like,
I took a pay cut.
I take all the heat.
Kittle had to stay in a block.
Do you think there is a little intensity here,
and maybe there's a little resentment with Jimmy G. and Kyle?
What do you make?
I don't, but what do you make of it?
One of the things we learn from the Jim Harbaugh thing is
someone says they're not bothered by a pay cut.
everybody's bothered by a pay cut.
That's how the world works.
No one has ever taken a pay cut and been 100% fine with it.
So that's number one.
But on the other hand,
he could have gone to a place like Washington,
gotten paid his full amount, all that stuff.
There would have probably been a restructure,
maybe even an extension,
but still he would have gotten his money that way.
But he stayed with San Francisco.
I don't think there's a season ruining type of animosity.
I'm sure there's a bit,
I mean, going back to obviously the pick,
you know, the problem was always helped.
It wasn't necessarily production.
It was about kind of raising the ceiling over a season.
For me, even after that game, Kyle Shanahan said that George Kittle and Jimmy Garoppolo were not in game shape.
It takes a while.
I knew this was going to be a topic.
So I was looking up some of the training camp footage.
And August 3rd, the new video emerged at Givengrapolo training at Niners practice.
It's like he was the lockness monster, Colin.
Like it was like, oh my gosh, we finally saw him practice.
He's off to the side.
You know, I think it was when he was clear to practice full go.
And I think it was August 20th.
They basically said, you know, he's going to be working on the side.
He's going to be building up his stamina.
I mean, it was like he was, he was on the freshman team or something.
He was on the JV team on the side.
And so the idea he would come in on just a week and try to implement himself here.
I mean, obviously he's got some familiarity with this.
He was pressured on.
If you looked at the stats, when Trent Williams goes down, he was pressured on 22% of throws.
When Trent Williams was in there, it was 12%.
Right.
So not only do you have all of these obstacles, you lose a guy who's probably a top three player in the NFL in the middle of the game.
Where's your security blanket?
Kyle Shanahan is always able to make things easier.
this was not easy on Sunday for Garoppel.
I finally found somebody that agrees with me on Jimmy G.
It took me a while.
It took me three days and I finally found one.
All right.
I said with all these quarterbacks, I said,
we've got to be really patient with Justin Fields.
Defensive coach, bad O line,
one semi-good weapon,
front office historically not redeemable.
But good hell, the number of,
are bad. What do we make of just...
I mean, they're like 1972
offense bad.
What do we make of that?
Well, let's compare
two quarterbacks. One is Trevor Lawrence.
On Sunday, Trevor Lawrence had a
2.39 time to throw,
2.39 seconds.
That is a career low. He looked
amazing. Okay? Justin
Fields holds onto the ball for a long time.
He gets sacked 18%
of his dropbacks, which is astounding. That's
like historic. That's a 1975
two stats you're kind of talking about here is guys don't get sacked that much, okay?
He's getting sacked more than some guys in the league get pressured.
I was looking at some of those numbers, okay?
And so he's holding onto the ball long.
Stephen Ruiz, my colleague, was mentioning he just can't operate right now in a tight pocket.
He bails immediately.
I just don't know where this goes.
The good news is, obviously, when he does run, he gets chunk plays, he looks good.
I just don't know how you solve a problem like him holding onto the ball too long.
You listen to some of the scouts, you read some of the tape studies.
It seems like he doesn't throw the ball unless a guy is clearly open, which in this league
you cannot do.
You have to throw with anticipation.
You have to throw guys open.
That's all Aaron Rogers does.
He throws guys open.
So Justin Fields needs to do that and quickly needs to show that he's worthy of the kind
of investment going forward.
We're going to say this is the guy.
The biggest leap, Colin, statistically, is always from year one to year two.
That's why I thought Trevor Lawrence was going to be the guy who's going to make this leap.
Only Josh Allen and Troy Akeman historically have made a year two to year three leap.
So what have I seen from Justin Field to justify even investing in him from next year?
He's got to prove something that's got to be quick because Trevor Lawrence is taking the title belt right now from that draft.
And I don't see that changing anytime soon.

podcast. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app,

All right.
One more, Belichick.
The bottom seven, passer ratings in this league.
Six of seven are defensive head coaches.
There was Seth Wickersham was on my show yesterday.
And I asked him about his Patriot book.
And I gave him my theory that basically the game now is tilted to benefit offensive coaches.
Tomlin.
Zimmer, Belichick, Pete Carroll, more than capable guys.
Lovie Smith, you're at a disadvantage.
Things have been taken from you.
I watch, he's now sub-500 without Brady.
He's a 10-point underdog.
I hate to say past him by, but it does feel like culturally he's on the wrong side of the tracks, right?
Well, a couple things.
Number one, one thing that hasn't gone away is a sarcasm.
And he hit the Patriots media today with, what am I a doctor when they kept being asked about Mac Jones?
So we still got that side of him.
The problem is there's no talent on that roster or it's overstated or overrated.
I think they could have probably made it obviously, I was going to say a better OC hire.
They could have made an OC hire.
They could have just hired anybody.
That would have been a nice positive step.
I'm that, Patricia, Joe Judge and Belichick doing a by committee.
But I think you see going against Lamar Jackson last week.
Great example.
normally he would have had the perfect plan for him
you know he would have spied him he would have taken away what they do best
he would have figured it out like he has done with mohomans or he's done with
you're trying to do with lamar in the past but he doesn't have the talent on defense to do it
and it doesn't happen right now and i think that one thing that i think is uncharacteristic right now
is that normally leaving brady aside normally they have one of the best fifty three man
rosters in the NFL because they understand how to kind of uh rob peter to pay paul as far as
okay we can get away with not paying this cornerback right we're going to pay defensive
of lineman. Nobody rides the trends of the game better. They would switch him a three four to a four
three just because of a free agency batch and they'd say, hey, we can get these edge rushers for
cheaper. Let's do that. He hasn't done that in the last couple of years. He's drafted poorly.
The plan has been poor. Robert Kraft came out and justified last year, Colin, a huge spending spree
by saying it's COVID. Nobody else has money. We have money. The salary cap isn't spiking.
We can have this sort of inefficiency. Well, they ended up with a bunch of overpaid guys who weren't
making an impact. It was never a sound plan. It was a good. I mean,
I mean, you see it a little bit in Jacksonville, too, where overpaying guys can work for one year,
and then the bills come do on that stuff.
And you have to worry with the weakened roster and not a lot of cap flexibility.
So I think the problem for me, philosophically, is how Belichick's managing the roster.
It's just not like it used to be.
So Brady, obviously, is number one as far as things that are missing, but just also just kind of the patriot ruthlessness of roster management is also,
it's also fallen by the wayside the last two years.
And I think you can't overstate how important that was to the whole run.

We're going to start with that video of Bill Belichick asking if he's an orthopedic surgeon or a doctor,
obviously talking about the Mac.
Jones situation. The full videos on social media, he's just peppered with questions. And
Belichick, the ornery old man that he is, keeps just saying day to day, day, day to day.
Here is the video of the funniest answer Belichick had about Mac Jones.
Does he have a high ankle spring?
Day by day. What do I look like? A doctor, an orthopedic surgeon. I don't know.
Talk to the medical experts.
What are the medical experts on staff said to you?
day.
Well,
evaluate him, Dave.
I mean, what difference
is to make to me?
What do you think?
I'm going to read the MRI.
That's not my job.
So.
It's theirs and they talk to you about it, right?
It's day by day. It's getting better day by day. So, see how it's tomorrow. I'll let you chime in on that. 18 and 19. It's, uh, listen, Boston, they turn on you fast in Boston. I mean, they turned on manny fast. They turned on Brady fast.
they turned on Ray Allen fast.
They'll turn on Belichick.
They're not waiting around.
They probably turn on Ted Williams at some point.
Oh, geez.
I mean, they turn on everybody.
All right, moving on yesterday.
They turned on Babe Ruth.
Went to the Yankees.
They never recovered.
I think.
Yesterday we talked about Tyree Kil calling out Eli Apple
ahead of the Dolphins-Bengles Thursday night game.
Now the Bengals defense making it clear they have their teammates back.
Cornerback Mike Hilton chiming in.
It must have still been in his head,
little bit, obviously. If he brought it up, when you come at one of us, you come at all of us.
We don't need to do any talking. We got a job that we got to do Thursday. We feel like
they're in our way. So we just got to go out there and try to get a win. And then safety,
Jesse Bates chimed in. If somebody comes after Eli, he comes after all of us. I don't know if
Eli got him ticket to the Super Bowl last year or not. I think that's probably why he's a little
bit upset. 31, 23, no, 312. 3121. 3121.
31 21,
Cincinnati.
Where was all that secondary help
in the Super Bowl
when Cooper Cup
was torching Eli Apple
lighting him on fire?
A lot of receivers are hard to cover.
Get some help.
Throw safety help at him.
All right.
All right.
Final story, coward.
DeAndre Aiton, this was a
absolute shocker.
So DeAndre Aiton,
the center of the Suns,
I think we both think he's a little overrated.
Yeah.
He was ready to leave this summer
because the Suns did not want to pay him.
But once he signed the
Pacer's put up the offer sheet,
Sun said,
we got to pay him.
They gave him $133 million, coward.
He was benched in their game seven loss when they got destroyed by Dallas and Luca.
Remember, he was invisible.
Chris Paul was invisible.
Monty Williams and he didn't get along.
Right.
Monty Williams benched him and DeAndre Aiton's like John Adam and there was a weird back and forth.
Here's what DeAndre Aiton said at Media Day yesterday.
No, I haven't spoken at all.
Ever since the game.
It's life.
Nobody really cares about the uncomfortable nature about it.
you know, it's how you perform is
and what you're going to bring to the table.
What's said is already set.
Let me wrap my head around this.
So it's been four months.
He hasn't talked to the coach who benched him.
There's no exit interviews in Phoenix.
And they gave him $133 million.
What the hell's going on in Phoenix?
Well, I thought he was going to be traded.
I thought it was a done deal.
They didn't want him.
I was actually surprised when they kept him.
I like him.
But he's offensively, he's pretty limited.
I think he reminds him.
me, he's better than D'Andre Jordan, but I think Chris Paul in the alley-ups elevates him,
that's a lot of money to pay a guy that, and I don't, is he a good defensive player?
He's okay.
I don't think he's great.
He's not elite, but how do you not talk to your coach for four months?
Like not once in the off-season, not a text, not a FaceTime.
Well, you got to be kidding me, Colin.
I think he thought he was going to get traded.
I don't think he wants to be there.
I think that's what everybody's saying, like, they didn't want to pay him the big bucks.
He was hoping to go elsewhere and get paid.
it just didn't really happen, but he got $133 million.
Not much to be sad about.
I would love to have him on my roster, just not for what he costs.
But I like him.
I like him as a player.
He's another video game guy.
Like worse than Kyler Murray.
It's like a big deal.
Well, it's hot in Phoenix.
He stays indoors.
I wouldn't be outside for five months a year in Phoenix either.
Would you be playing video games until 3 in the morning,
waking up before practice playing video games again?
And this is not speculation.
He told the media this is his habits.
I was playing Wordle this morning at 3.20.
Well, how many did you get it in today?
Four.
I was kind of four or five.
That's kind of weak, how hurt.
Best I can do at this age.
I'm Jack with the news.
Well, that's the news.

Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan, so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes.
Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far far away, such as the biology of Tontons and Wampas on the Ice Planet Hot,
or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule of two.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do a little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Mark Schlarith called the Eagles win over the commanders in week three.
You know, it's funny, Mark.
I'm watching that game.
It's a division game.
usually those are closer.
When Philadelphia jumped out, I mean, in the first 15 minutes, I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, that doesn't happen very often in division games.
You play twice a year, you know the personnel.
And my takeaway was, forget Buffalo and Kansas City.
Are we looking at the best team in the league?
As a former lineman, it's been suggested the O-line D lines for Philly, maybe the best combo lines in the league.
What did you see?
Yeah, they're solid.
I mean, they are probably one of the most talented teams in the National Football League, bar none.
You know, the one question mark going in was Jalen Hertz.
And, you know, Jalen Hertz through his first two years, had his struggles.
But, you know, I asked Nick Seriani, the head coach, what's his ceiling?
He goes, I don't know, because every day Jailen Hertz just continues to improve.
The guy's been amazing.
And then you talk about how good the Philadelphia Eagles are, how much depth they have.
Like usually you're big and strong or you're fast and athletic.
The Philadelphia Eagles are big, strong, fast, and athletic.
I mean, they are absolute beasts,
and they completely dominated the defensive line, line of scrimmage over the Washington commanders.
So they had them on their heels all day long.
Sat Carson wins nine times.
He was under constant duress.
They couldn't run the ball.
They dominated that game, even though the 24-8 score that it ended up being the final.
doesn't indicate that, but I will say this about Jalen Hertz. Remember, you know, we love
revisionist history, right? And Josh Allen is now an MVP candidate and the guy is absolutely amazing and
yada, yada, yada. Well, if you remember, through his first two years, there were still a lot of
question marks about Josh Allen. In year three, he really blossomed and took off. Now we're in
year three of Jalen Hertz. The guy is a consummate professional. He's stoic. His preparation is as good as
there is, and he is starting to blossom into the quarterback they thought he could possibly be.
So great football team with a young quarterback that's playing exceptionally well right now.
Well, I've got to ask you about Denver.
It is interesting that on Sunday night, Russell, and my theory was,
Russell's trying to be a little deferential to the rookie head coach and respectful.
Listen to a lot of his beliefs.
And then the rookie head coach has to show.
that I know what I'm doing, and then suddenly at the end of that game, Russ said,
I'm going to do my thing, and I'm just going to move.
And it worked.
Do we see more of that next?
Has Russell come to terms with, this is an 80-20, my offense?
Where are you at with Denver, Russell, that last drive?
Does it move to the next game?
Where are you at on their offense?
Yeah, I think that that's more.
I don't think that's so much about the young head coach.
coach hack it. I think that's more about Russell understanding that if I am going to make it till
I'm 41, I've got to play a little bit less like the free will and put myself in harm's way
quarterback that I've been through my first 10 years and a little bit more like the Drew Breeze
kind of guy that I'm trying to that I've always looked up to that I used to study when Drew
Breeze was playing. And so you hear the criticism, right? If you're Russell Wilson, you've heard,
hey, you take too many sacks. Hey, you don't throw it in the middle of the football field.
Hey, you don't get rid of the ball quickly enough. You don't take the profit.
that's there for you.
So I think Russell, in response to a lot of that stuff, knowing that I want to play for
another 10 years, that's the part of my game that needs to increase.
That's what he's been trying to do.
And I think ultimately, at the end of that game against San Francisco, he said, okay, enough
of that.
I got to go win this thing.
Right.
And I believe there's a balance there.
Like, I play with John Elway.
And at the end of John Elway's career, he was a pocket passer unless it was a critical
situation and he needed to go make something happen. He could still run. He could still move. He
could still throw on the run. He could do all those things. He chose not to unless it was a very
critical situation. I think what you'll see with Russell is more of that balance. Hey, I'm going
to try to win from the pocket. But in critical situations, I'm not going to wait to the end
of the game. In critical situations, I'm going to go make something big happen. I think you'll
see that you'll see that offense kind of morph that way. And you'll see the Broncos start to play a lot
better offensively. So you're going to go to London. When are you getting on a plane going to
London for the Viking Saints? Oh, you're not. You're not going. No, no, no, no. I've got the
Viking Chicago the following week. This week I've got Tennessee at Indy. So I just all of a sudden,
I thought to myself, wait a minute, I haven't booked a flight to London. I could be in trouble.
Okay. So it's my bad. I misread something. So I want to talk about that. The Colts
beat the Chiefs. And when you look at tape, Kansas City a little overrated,
or was it just a day in which the Colts got several special teams breaks?
What did you make?
Let's talk Kansas City.
Do you look at them and think, oh, there's a flaw here.
Tyreeks gone.
The offense isn't as explosive.
What did you see?
No.
You know what?
I saw a team in Indianapolis that tackled well, a team that, you know, kept a shell on
their big plays, did a pretty good job of that.
I saw, you know, Travis Kelsey drop a touchdown that, I mean,
Travis Kelsey, come on your program right now and tell you, I catch that ball 100 out of 100 times.
So, you know, it was a back shoulder in-zone kind of the back-shoulder.
It wasn't a fade, but it was a back-shoulder seam away from the leverage of the coverage.
And he just dropped it.
And that's a play that he makes, like I said, 100 out of 100 times.
So there was that.
I think the one concern I would have is how much continuity and how much is the relationship
between Eric Bianami and Mahomes.
Yeah.
Has that been fractured at all?
Yeah.
Because if you go back to the playoff game against Cincinnati,
they were, I mean, they were playing so well.
And all of a sudden, at the end of the first half,
they have a couple of gaffes.
There's, you know, perceived pressure or just vitriol between the two.
And Patrick Mahomes didn't play well after that.
And I felt the same way at halftime, Bianmi decided,
hey, we're not going to go forward.
And Patrick wanted to, and he, you know, disagreed with the decision.
And from that point forward, Kansas City offensively just didn't feel like they were in a rhythm or to groove.
And I will tell you this, Colin, for me, like some people will say, hey, the field, the football field when you play is kind of a sanctuary, you know,
and you can get away from your problems and you can forget about them.
You can just go play football.
Right.
That is the truth for some guys.
Not for me.
Man, if things weren't right in my preparation, if things weren't right at home, if things weren't right, you know, in my personal life, I would have a tough time playing well.
I would.
And so all that stuff had to line up.
And I don't know if there's a certain, you know, headbutting that's going on between Patrick Mahomes and between Eric Bianamy.
And when it happens live, I don't think Mahomes handles it well.
That's a really good point.
That's a really good point going back to last year.
BNME can be, you know, a very strong point of view, and Patrick is really a likable, coachable guy.
And, you know, hard coaching works, but not for everybody.
Like Kevin Durant, Steve Kerr coaches hard.
Sometimes Durant can be, you know, it's not a criticism.
Some guys are more sensitive.
Aaron Rogers can be a little sensitive.
I don't know how Elway was, but Elway had a problem with his first coach, Dan Reeves, if you remember.
Right.
Yeah, so that's a really good point because Bianami is, I've heard he's intense.
And even Andy Reid stepped in.
Yeah.
Right.
There's no question that Eric Bianami is really hardcore.
And like mine was more from a personal standpoint if, you know, my wife and I had an argument or something.
That affected me.
From a coaching standpoint, the coach I played for, God rest his soul, he's one of my dearest
friends, guy by name of Alex Gibbs.
And Alex Gibbs, there was not a cuss word and there was not, a derogatory term that he
would use in coaching you.
It's the way he was.
And there's two types of players that played for Alex Gibbs.
There's guys like me who thought he's the best coach I've ever had, right?
He's the best coach I've ever had.
And so he was either the best coach you ever played for or he was the worst coach
you ever played for depending on if you could handle his personality.
And, you know, I remember that I remember a scene, you know, from a game that we were playing in and came off the sideline.
He's got that little Polaroid picture, you know, and he's like, look what you've done here, you know, and he's dog cussing me.
I mean, every foul word you could ever call a dude.
And I'm like, that's not what happened.
That picture was taken two seconds.
They did something, two seconds before.
They did something else.
And he's like, don't make up a bunch of bologna exclusives, right?
And we're going back and forth cussing each other.
And finally I took my helmet and I hit him in the chest.
chest as hard as I could, almost broke his sternum.
And I said, if you think you can block them, then go ahead and block them, if not get the
blank out of here, right? And that was the end of it.
And at the end of the day, my grade sheet didn't say, I'm sorry.
It just said you were right. And we move on, you know, and that's that.
So can you handle it or can you not?
Yeah, I want to do that to McIntyre if he starts barking at me.
I'm going to do, I'm going to take up.
I don't, I don't blame you.
I'm going to take up my green juice bottle, put it right in his sternum.
Just, just chuck it across the room right now, Colin.
I care you.
Good seeing you, Slareth.
That's good stuff.
All right, later.
Yeah, that's a good point.
I never thought about that.
First, you and then Charles Woodson's coming after me on social media right now, according to your social media guy.
Don't throw anything at me, Cowherd.
You know what?
You're getting people worked up.
