Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
Starting point is 00:00:45 This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. Help an Acapella band with their Between Songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Every family has its secrets.
Starting point is 00:01:07 But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life? That is not the look of an innocent man. Is everyone lying to me about who they are? I felt such desperation. I felt it was what I had to do. Listen to Deep Cover the Family Man. on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The story I've told myself can then shape my behavior,
Starting point is 00:01:38 and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection. This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast Deeply Well with Debbie Brown. If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you to hear more. Listen to Deeply Well with you. with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,

Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of
Starting point is 00:02:20 the most legally dubious advice known to me. This is Help From a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to help from Hippocrite Wednesdays on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Find your local station for the herd at Fox Sports Radio.com or stream us live every day in the IHeart Radio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR. Thanks for listening to the herd podcast. 13 years in the NFL, he does these things called Baldi's Breakdowns on the Internet, NFL network that I absolutely love.
Starting point is 00:03:24 made the playoffs three times. Smart dude, he's joining us live. He'll have a tree, as you'll see in his living room. And palm trees in the background in Fort Lauderdale. That's good living right there, my friend. That is good, living right there. Yes, hey, Colin. Happy holidays to you.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Happy holidays to you. So I want to start with Detroit. So this league is the NFL has expanded the league. And you've seen this in college, too. You're going to have more injuries. So Detroit was the best team in the world in October. And then they were good in November. And now I watch their defense, and they are struggling.
Starting point is 00:03:57 And I'm wondering, you've been on teams like this, where, I mean, we saw Patrick Mahomes lose both tackles and get blown out in a Super Bowl. This morning, this Detroit team does not feel like a trophy team to me. They don't. Do they to you? No, not when he give up 550 yards and 48 points to Buffalo. And Buffalo is game planning against their new middle linebacker that they picked up at the bus stop. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:23 He'd been a good player, Juan Alexander. I don't want to denigrate him, but he's new to the team, and he's been on the street. And Buffalo went right after him with Ty Johnson and James Cook, and they got big chunk plays against it. And so that's where they're at right now. There's not much of a pass rush. Team, quarterbacks are having time like Josh Allen had, and you give up 48 points.
Starting point is 00:04:44 If you score 42, it's not enough. Yeah. They had a great offensive day. I mean, Jared Dopp threw for 500 yards, five touchdowns, and it wasn't enough. That's not how you win playoff games in big playoff games, Colin. Yeah, because so many of those games, by the way, for a dome team are outdoors and cold and windy.
Starting point is 00:05:01 I want to go to another great team that everybody in this room loves the Eagles. But I said this week, they have the traits of a losing franchise. They have squabbles on the sidelines. The coach gets disrespected. The receiver and the quarterback, I'm not sure they get along. They run through coordinators. I'm not explaining Carolina. I'm explaining a franchise that, you know, they fire Super Bowl winning coaches.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Can you be this noisy and win a... Well, part of it is, you know, I live there, Colin. I play for the Eagles. I live right across the bridge in South Jersey. So I'm friends with a lot of guys on the team. It's part of playing in Philadelphia. It just has. They've chased some of the greatest stars in different sports out of Philadelphia.
Starting point is 00:05:48 And so there's always a lot of noise. and that goes with it. The only problem I think that the Eagles have is there a slow starting team. Yes. And they can beat you by throwing it like they did last week against Pittsburgh. They can beat you like they did the Rams
Starting point is 00:06:04 right there in your backyard there, calling against the Rams, and Saquine can run and account for 300 yards and he can look like the MVP. The problem when you get to the playoffs, some of these games, the way they're playing, you might only get eight possessions. And if you start slow
Starting point is 00:06:20 and turn it over once and are trying to figure out what we're going to do today, you might get to the game too late. And so that's the only thing is, can they ever start fast? Because they're the slowest starting team in this league. And then they just steamroll you once they figure it out. And that might cost them in a playoff game against the team that, you know, Green Bay, Minnesota, whatever, that kind of comes out hot against them. Are you surprised how quickly the charge?
Starting point is 00:06:50 Chargers are viable. I could argue, Baldy, they were the worst team in the league last year in December and January. I mean, they gave up 60 to the Raiders, December 14th last year. 60. That was a bad Raider team. Are you shocked at how suddenly good they are? I am, and I'm not. Like, last year and the years before, they couldn't tackle anybody.
Starting point is 00:07:12 Nobody gave up bigger plays. Like, once they got the ball past the line scrimmage, like everybody just whiffed. just grabbing air and they were awful um they're in much better tackling team now they've got rookie corners uh they've solidified the linebacker core this dion henley is a great yeah number zero for the chargers like he doesn't miss attack so that's part of it and then just this hardball will it's just remarkable he looked like he was as tense as you can be all game long yeah until they got into the locker room and they got a little celebration going on but i mean he just wills this team and everybody
Starting point is 00:07:50 everybody responds. I mean, you're seeing guys last night, we're not sure exactly who some of these guys are. We know Ladd McCawkey, but Darius Davis has a huge play. This touchdown throw right here is a remarkable throw to Davis in the end zone. They get a, you know, a fair catch, interference free kick at the end of the half. Nobody gets that. Yeah. Like, where do that come from? Let it go look up to think. Nobody even knew the rule. No player even knew the rule. I think maybe Harbaal knew it. But you got three points at the end of half. No. time on the clock. There is a will that he brings to Stanford,
Starting point is 00:08:25 to San Francisco, to Michigan, to San Diego, wherever he goes, he brings it, and the team responds immediately. So, listen, the San Francisco 49ers still have a year to play with with Brock Purdy, but the Steelers don't, and I said this earlier. Pittsburgh is a little like
Starting point is 00:08:42 Seattle plus Denver, whereas they don't need Russ to carry them like Seattle, because of Lynch and Pete in the defense, but he is valuable and has changed the offense like Denver. I think I would sign him, but boy without Pickens, it's a pretty middling offense. What do you do with Russell? Because, Baldy, we've got to be honest.
Starting point is 00:09:06 The last year of Ben, Trebisky, Pickett, Mason Rudolph, it was rough. And it's not rough. It's limited, but it's not rough to watch anymore. What do you do with Russ? I think you resign them. I think you resign him right here. You might go into the well and see what's out there in the draft. I don't know that I'd spend a top flight pick,
Starting point is 00:09:28 but I would resign him right now. I think, you know, they lost their number one draft pick to an injury this year, Fletano. Like, he's going to be a really good player. Yeah. And we're trying to build this offense line. They've got two rookies in there. Zach Frazier is a really good player.
Starting point is 00:09:43 So they're trying to get better up front. So it doesn't look like everything is a struggle, because everything looks like a struggle. if you don't just can't throw a jump ball to Pickens and let him make some fantastic play. And it was awful. They were sticking to mud against Philadelphia last week. And it looks like a checkdown offense.
Starting point is 00:10:00 And it might look like that tomorrow against Baltimore. And so they want to try to build in the trenches. And they're going to get better there when Fautano gets there next year. They'll get better up front. They'll run the ball better. And I think Russell, you get pickings. You get another receiver. I think you can open this thing up a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:10:19 than what we've watched. Finally, are we giving the Kansas City Chiefs respect because we just admire Reed and Mahomes? If you didn't know who they were and you just had never watched football, you'd watch them and go, yeah, their old line can struggle. Mahomes gets hit a lot.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Why is every game close? They are great on third down, but Kelsey looks old, you know, but we get so much buy-in that we're like, well, they'll be fine. And they're not really fine. What do you make of them? Well, I mean, Steve Spagnola is the best coach that's not a head coach in his whole business. So in Spags, we trust.
Starting point is 00:10:56 They just got back Charles Omenahoo, who had a big game. When you put a rush line of Carloptois Omenahoo, Stone Cold Jones and Mike Dan up front, you might not have to blitz. Those four guys that can win one-on-ones. Defensively, they're going to be in every game. And so, yes, the tackle position has been weak, like it was five years ago in a Super Bowl. But the, you know, and when you've got to take Joe Tooney, and take them from left guard to play them at left tackle
Starting point is 00:11:21 just to get through a game against Cleveland where you're weakening two positions to fix one. That's not a good sign. But it's where they're at with the offensive tackle position. So, like, I still think that they're well-coached and defensively they can keep the score down against anybody right now. Yeah. Hey, you're the Bears.
Starting point is 00:11:39 You're the GM. Who would you hire? I think the job's too big for a coordinator. I think there's too much turbulence. I want a veteran pilot to land this plane. What do you think? Is Mike Dickie available? I mean, you know, they need a guy that comes in there and just like Harbauls come in
Starting point is 00:11:57 and just change the culture. Yes. The culture is terrible. You can't have these revolving door of consistent coaches and head coaches and coordinators like they have had. I like to see him take a look at Mike Grable. I think Mike Braybel might be a guy. I'd like to see him talk to Steve Spagnolo.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Like that guy can flat out coach. They've always been a defensive town. They've got some talent on that side of the ball. There's two guys that I think deserve a second chance as a head coach that I think might do better the second time around right now. Yeah, I don't think you're wrong. NFL.com, check it out. Personalized view of the NFL schedule.
Starting point is 00:12:33 Brian Baldinger, NFL network analyst. He's so great. Got such good. Baldy breakdowns remain amazing. And the Christmas tree to the palm trees. Good for you in Fort Lauderdale. See you, buddy. That's it. That's it.
Starting point is 00:12:45 All right, Colin, happy holidays to you. Yep. Look forward to talking to you down the road here. All right, Ryan Balding are good stuff. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1 and the IHeart Radio app. Hey, it's Steve Kavino. And I'm Rich Davis.
Starting point is 00:13:02 And together we're Kavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. You can catch us weekdays from 5 to 7 p.m. Eastern, 2 to 4 Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and of course the IHeart Radio app. Why should you listen to Kavino and Rich? Stories that, well, other shows don't seem to have the time to discuss. And the fact that we've been friends for the last 20 years and still work together,
Starting point is 00:13:30 I mean, that says something, right? So check us out. We like to get you involved, too. Take your phone calls, chop it up, as they say. I'd say the most interactive show on Fox Sports Radio. Maybe the most interactive show on Planet Earth. Be sure to check out Kavino and Rich live on Fox Sports Radio on the iHeart Radio app from 5 to 7 p.m. Eastern, 2 to 4 Pacific. And if you miss any of the live show, just search Covino and Rich wherever you get your podcast and of course on social media.
Starting point is 00:13:54 That's Covino and Rich. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, news? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast?
Starting point is 00:14:06 Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to our first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember I think it was on a call about what we should call it And we were thinking
Starting point is 00:14:24 I'm originally calling it One of the early names of our band Before Jonas Brothers This is how you guys remember it going down Yes I have a very different memory of this We were talking about a thing A bit for the podcast For people could call in and say hey Jonas
Starting point is 00:14:40 And then I wrote down on my little Notepad Hey Jonas And offered it up as a potential title For the podcast But thanks for remembering that guys listen to hey jonas on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcast just listen we don't care where you hear it another podcast from some s nl late night comedy guy not quite unhumor me with robert smigel and friends me and hilarious guests from bob odenkirk to david
Starting point is 00:15:06 letterman help make you funnier this week my guess s n l's mikey day and head writer streeter sidel help an acapella band with their between songs banter where does your group perform we do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out,
Starting point is 00:15:30 help on the internet. Help! Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than that. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself.
Starting point is 00:15:42 And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives. helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone,
Starting point is 00:16:05 let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Cream a chicken suit. Hey, cream. Cream a chicken suit. This is help from a hypocrite. The worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Coutura Podcast Network
Starting point is 00:16:21 available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to
Starting point is 00:16:44 Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy?
Starting point is 00:17:10 That one's kind of hard, you know? Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to. to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura podcast network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne.
Starting point is 00:17:40 Yeah. This is my best friend Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the Hipsons High School. Now a redacted amount of years later We're still joined at the hip Just a little bit bigger hips Wider This is a podcast we're recording it as we tailgate Our youth soccer games In the back of my Honda Odyssey
Starting point is 00:17:56 With all the snacks and drink Sidebar Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer Oh they had a bogo Well then you got it Do you want a white color or something here? Just hit it What are y'all doing?
Starting point is 00:18:06 Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh I would I would buy it Cuts through the defense like a high knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky. I'm not a drug addict.
Starting point is 00:18:21 You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You're lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Jay Mack, I'm a little fire. You know what? Your picks have been pretty good this year.
Starting point is 00:18:43 I'm pretty excited for your picks, Jay Mack. You've got to be honest with you. I'm on here asking ChatGPT some questions to help me break down this SMU Penn State game. I got some good stuff for you. ChatGPT, do you use that, by the way? No, I should, though, shouldn't I? Oh, they can answer literally anything. It's really impressive.
Starting point is 00:19:01 So you just go, is it chatGPT.com? Yeah. And then... I have a subscription, so I pay every month. What do you pay a month? I'm not... I mean, you can look it up. I think it's like $20 a month.
Starting point is 00:19:13 And you can ask it. Unlimited. Anything anytime. If you don't pay, then you can't ask anything. But, I mean, like, instead of having to Google and sift through, you just ask, and they find it within seconds. If you wanted to write your Fox Sports Digital betting piece, can it write it for you? No. That's nonsense.
Starting point is 00:19:30 I don't, I wouldn't do that. You could do that for, like, a seventh grade social studies paper on, you know, World War II or whatever. So is your pick better than a seventh grade social studies paper? I don't know. But, for instance, I just, I mean, we got to do stuff. But I just asked, what's the coldest weather game SMU played in this season? Do you know what the answer is? Well, first of all, do you know what the temperatures are going to be at Penn State?
Starting point is 00:19:52 17. Yeah, about that. Okay, I would say 44 degrees for SMU. Wow, good get 45 Clemson in the ACC title game. And if you look at how that game started, they were like shook. They were down, what was it, 21-0? Early, they were down big. They fought back.
Starting point is 00:20:06 This thing is Chad GBT. Who needs to chat TVT? We got Calhurt's brain. Give me 20 bucks. Ask me their question. I'll get close. I may not have it, but I'll get close. A good baby.
Starting point is 00:20:15 J-Mack with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. More good news for your Kansas City Chief. Actually, Nick's Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes, he's off the injury report. I mean, what a turnaround for this guy, huh?
Starting point is 00:20:33 Bionic Mahomes, we've got to call him that. Hollywood Brown will be playing against the Texans on Saturday. You know, he might be on a pitch count, but Andy Reid said they, expect him to be a contributor. Colin, everything's coming up Chiefs, man. Every time you think this team is, the run is over,
Starting point is 00:20:51 they're back in the mix. Got to play through that ankle injury, Hollywood Brown, Isaiah Pacheco. I'll be curious how they handle the left tackle situation because you got Mahomes a little hobbled. He ain't going to be 100%. We know that. The number when it came out
Starting point is 00:21:07 this week, Chiefs minus 2 and a half I thought was the bet of the week on the board. Now it's up three and a half. You can middle it stay away, but I thought when it was two and a half KC, even with Carson Wentz, Houston in cold weather, I mean, I don't trust Houston on the road. Forget cold weather. The Chiefs have covered, I believe, one of their last seven games, and that was against the lowly Browns and James Winston. I know it, by the way. I would not rule this an automatic dub for the Chiefs. I can't get there. You don't think Texas is a lot. Why don't you ask Chat GBT who they like. Does it do football
Starting point is 00:21:38 picks? No, well, this not with the spread. I mean, I haven't tried that. It can't be predictive. Nothing is predictive. That's what's so tough about that at football game. Nothing is predictive. You can look at trends. By the way, trend betters have been getting slaughtered this season because everything's been topsy-turvy favorites. I'm a trend better. I'm getting crushed.
Starting point is 00:21:56 I'm a trend. I take the steel like this weekend. I didn't make it a Blazing 5 because George Pickens is out. But the trend would be you take Mike Tomlin as a six and a half point dog in a divisional game. You're just blindly betting trends? I've been doing that my whole career. Getting hitting 55%.
Starting point is 00:22:12 I'm a trend better and I'm getting crushed this year. Yeah. So, Chiefs, you don't like Chiefs at three and a half, right? No, but I liked him at two and a half. Yeah. Because I don't, there never been a great cover team, but I thought people were selling on, I still got Andy Reed and Travis Kelsey and I still get spags in the defense. Give me Houston Money Line.
Starting point is 00:22:30 By the way, this is win-win, right? If the Chiefs lose, huge win and I win the Money Line bet. If the Texans get destroyed, I just get to come on here and say how bad CJ Straff is as a sophomore. I'm interested in your picks this week. You got them coming up in 15 minutes. I'm interested in your picks. You're the only one. No, I think America's interested.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Next up is the Miami Dolphins. Colin, I saw this yesterday. I didn't know what to make of it. So the Dolphins season is cratering. Tyreek Hill is not helping. Tyreek tweeted, quote, time for me to go, coach, with no punctuation. Now our producer was like, well, what if he puts the, where does he put the comma in that sentence? Time for me to go, comma, coach, if he had used punctuation.
Starting point is 00:23:12 Does that mean he needs to be the coach and McDaniel's got to go? Here's Tyreekill explaining his dumb tweet. I ain't meant by like I want to get traded or I want to leave Miami. Like I'm in a great situation here. I love the guys here. I love this organization. They obviously changed me and my family's life. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:23:30 Forever. So I'm in a great spot, man. I'm happy. I wish we were playing better ball. But at the end of the day, like I feel like when I tweet something, it's not always about football. It's about, you know, seeing these other guys, you know,
Starting point is 00:23:43 to see the other areas like Dion Sanders and stuff like that. So I would just shoot my shot. I really have Michael Vick like, hey, it's time for me to go coach with Vic maybe. You know what I'm saying? I believe him. I believe what he's saying. I don't think he's trying to create something. Jalen Waddle listed as doubtful.
Starting point is 00:23:59 So it'll be the Tyreek Hill Show against San Francisco. But he has not, he has not had a big game in a long time. I'll tell you what, the Mike McDaniel. Genius tab? Is that we need to rethink that? We need to rethink that. rescind that genius card. They have to turn that card back in. Tyreek Hill,
Starting point is 00:24:15 look at the stats on the screen there. Career low in touchdown receptions. Colin, that is not good. No, they're not. He hasn't thrown. Tua has not thrown a ball. 20 yards in the air and completed it since before Thanksgiving. You know, I don't want to give Houston's defense too much credit, but
Starting point is 00:24:31 it looked like they had solved this McDaniel's offense. They liked that quick, fake direction stuff, and then Tua over the middle, and they were gobbler. They were jumping the routes. Did you hear what Tua, there was a story, and I apologize for not giving people credit. There was a fascinating story
Starting point is 00:24:46 or post the other day. I thought this was really interesting. Is that there was a little bit of stress that Mike McDaniel's offense has so many changes in motion that Tua is so busy getting the motion through that by the time all
Starting point is 00:25:02 the motion's done, he doesn't have any time to do anything. There's too much complication. There's too much motion. And all of a sudden you look up and there's two on the clock. And so it's a little too clever. There's too much motion. There's too many sets.
Starting point is 00:25:21 There's too many variations. And to a large degree, this league is built on physicality. Yeah. I mean, Philadelphia, O-line, D-line, great. They don't play around a lot. They don't do a lot of movement. Little motion here and there. But, I mean, we were talking two years ago.
Starting point is 00:25:35 It's like they did more motion than everybody in the league. Well, you know what? So did San Francisco. and neither is crushing it right now. Interesting. So this game, or when the schedule comes out, this looks like a great game. San Francisco going to Miami and December,
Starting point is 00:25:51 big edge for Miami. I don't know, you're on San Fran. I think I might be too. San Francisco is Baltimore. They're a lesser version. They're a bully. When they play an average team or a bad team, San Francisco plays with a ton of confidence.
Starting point is 00:26:03 You line them up against a good team, they shrink. And I think Baltimore has done that. When you line up against the good team, they're not the same team. I always like Shanahan and the Niners when they're facing an average to a losing team. They tend to flex in those spots. They just push them around. Because they have enough good players and skill to separate from bad teams. And I know the Niners season is pretty much over, but I'll just say this.
Starting point is 00:26:29 Brock Purdy is trying to angle for that big deal. Oh, I know. I don't think he's going to be like, and there's no weather issues, no wet ball in Miami this weekend. So that's actually kind of a good game. Final story, Colin, is that it's that time of the year where we hear quarterbacks giving Christmas gifts to their offensive linemen. Brock Purdy gifted his lineman brand new Toyota Tacomas. Now, I guess he has a deal with Toyota. Patrick Mahomes got his linemen Rolexes.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Joe Burrow didn't buy from the typical gift registry. Instead, buying all his linemen individualized katanas. How about that? What's a katana? It was like a sword, you know, one of those, like, cool things that you made. Sharp and tool, you know, like a weapon from karate and stuff. Like a Game of Thrones thing or something? More like a, from like a Bruce Lee movie or something like that back in the day.
Starting point is 00:27:24 You're not that impressed. That's probably a big deal in Cincinnati, maybe. I don't think the coastal elite. Well, Joe Burroughs the kind of guy. Did he buy a Batmobile? He's, like, kind of into quirky stuff. He goes to fashion shows and, like, yeah. Yeah, so I don't know.
Starting point is 00:27:37 I know the audience is clamoring to find out what QB Cowherd gave his offensive line. Starbucks cards? I don't know. No. Okay. Jay Mac had the news. Well, that's the news. The Herd Lie News.
Starting point is 00:27:54 You know, I get you a lawnmour, but nobody in L.A. has a yard because nobody can afford a house. Seriously. By the way, the college football, here's the format. We had Dan Mullen on earlier. Here's the college football playoffs starts tonight. I think Notre Dame beats Indiana. It's close. I think Ohio State throttles. No, I think Texas throttles Clemson. I'll take Ohio State narrowly. I'll take Penn State comfortably. I'll take Notre Dame barely. I did ask Dan Mullen, former Florida, Mississippi State coach, broadcaster. I said, would you like being a big favorite, the big dog, the favorite to win it all going in if you're Texas? it's hard to play the chip on the shoulder card when you're at texas but i tell you what as a coach both are fun both are great challenges to go do it but but there's no way they're going to get it
Starting point is 00:28:45 texas has to go and they have to say hey we've played like a dominant team when we played people were better than when we played people were equal to we have not shown that and there are two games against georgia you saw that their offense didn't show up if you're going to play georgia you're going to play the big teams you have got to hit explosive plays down the field throwing the football, and they haven't been able to do that. Yeah. Yeah, I like Texas, and I like them big this weekend. All right, J-Max Picks, right around the corner, live in Los Angeles, The Herd. Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd, weekdays at noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific.
Starting point is 00:29:19 Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, huge news? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend.
Starting point is 00:29:35 But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes.
Starting point is 00:29:56 I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast. People could call in and say, hey Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little... Notepad Hey Jonas and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Starting point is 00:30:18 Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:30:41 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than me.
Starting point is 00:30:58 I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, hope from a hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary.
Starting point is 00:31:30 Oh, cream of chicken suit. Hey, cream. Cream of chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help From Hypocrite as part of the My Cultura Podcast Network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:31:48 Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHart Podcasts presents Soccer Moms. So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hip since high school. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later,
Starting point is 00:32:00 we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hip. wider. This is a podcast we're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey with all the snacks and drinks. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? They had a bogo. Well, then you got it. Do you want a white collar or something here? Just take it. What are y'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? I would. Come on. Can you put you imagine? I would buy it. Cutts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious.
Starting point is 00:32:31 Oh, you're lucky I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You are. I'm lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Listen to soccer moms on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crime drag at a time.
Starting point is 00:33:00 You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with the Adamania Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
Starting point is 00:33:18 I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? dating at 45. How hard can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy? That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs,
Starting point is 00:33:42 tears or tears of laughter, and dive into it unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura Podcast Network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Don't miss your chance to win free cash prizes playing Fox Super 6, sponsored by Draft Kings. Go to the Fox Sports app to make your picks. One of the questions is which QB will have the most rushing yards? Colin, choices are Jaden Daniels versus the Eagles, Jalen Hertz at the commanders,
Starting point is 00:34:20 Josh Allen versus the Patriots, or Kyler Murray in Carolina. Kyler Murray. Really? Have I been right on some of these this year? I think I have, haven't I? I'm not to keep in track. by design. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Sorry. A snarky. All right. College football playoffs starts tonight. So J. Max got picks like the Blazing Five. He's going to pivot to some college and pro picks. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:34:43 We call it tomorrow's headlines today. Indiana at Notre Dame. Yeah, snow is falling. South Bend's going to be popping. And chilly, the headline will be, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Natty New Year. Yes, we're going with the theme. this year, this week, I should say, Christmas, New Year, and I like Notre Dame a lot. Colin, I'm looking at some of these rushing numbers. They're one of the best rushing offenses in the country.
Starting point is 00:35:09 They are. Now, Indiana's run defense is number one, but who have they played? That's the question. You know, they did hold Michigan and check, held them to 69 yards. Ohio State went over 100, Washington went over 100. I think Notre Dame has their way. The big question for me is Notre Dame hasn't faced a lot of second half adversity, right? They've been leading at halftime of every game except the one lost in Illinois. Indiana punches them in the mouth. Can this ground game? Can they play catch-up?
Starting point is 00:35:35 So mild concern, but I'll go Notre Dame 28, Indiana 17. I'll go with the Irish. Tomorrow's headlines today. Beaver Stadium, Midney Lions, Mustangs meet for the first time since 1978. What say you? They're calling for a whiteout in the snow. It's snowing literally right now. I don't know if it'll still be snowing tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:35:54 The headline from Happy Valley will be Allerwant for Christmas. Is SMU to lose? I'm going with Penn State. I've got them locked and loaded in a couple teasers. I really think this is just a tough spot for SMU. Which came off. It's big, huge. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:12 And oh, by the way, I did look it up. Their coldest game was 45 degrees against Clemson in the ACC title game. They came out and looked tight and cold. This is going to be, I'm looking at the temperatures. It looks like 16 degrees. Winchell factor may be colder, Colin. However, the only thing I like about SMU is this high-octane offense. They will not stop throwing the football.
Starting point is 00:36:30 You know, if they're down 21 in this one, they're going to spread the field and just chuck and duck, and maybe they come in the back door. Should be a good one. I know a lot of people, even Clatt like Penn State's path. I wonder if Penn State does overlook SMU a little bit. Oh, we got a warm weather team from Dallas coming to play us. So there is some concern, and we know Franklin has letdowns in big spots. Fortunately, SMU's not a top five team, so I'll take Penn State.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Tomorrow's headlines today. Now we go to warmer Austin. Clemson at Texas. I like the horns. Yeah. This is probably the best bet on the board. I know double digits. Jason, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:37:06 The headline will be. Sark, the hookum horns did sing. Victory for the CEP. I like Archmanning and Quinn Ewers and Sark. Sark a little combative in that video. I like it. He doesn't like all these quarterback questions. But Texas is a very good team.
Starting point is 00:37:24 Now, I got some news here. There aren't injury reports in college football the way they are in the NFL. right. Someone's doubtful. They ain't playing. So Banks, the left tackle, who's a top 10 pick, for sure. He's been practicing. They're saying he's a go. Bond, the speedy receiver, who's real dynamic, he's got an ankle dinged up in the Georgia game. Unknown. And Texas doesn't have to answer these questions. I'll tell you, if you see Bond and warm-ups and he's playing, you know, they're going to put it on Clemson.
Starting point is 00:37:50 And I've got to ask you, man, any time Clemson played a good team this year, Colin? What happened against Louisville? They're considered good. Clemson lost. South Carolina. Georgia. Like they just, they step up against good teams. I know they did beat SMU. I'll give them credit for that. This is a home team that's significantly better. Playing a team you could argue shouldn't be in.
Starting point is 00:38:10 I mean, they're just, in terms of quality, Clemson got housed. The only way Clemson's here is that huge kick return against SMU with like 10 seconds left. Yeah. And then the walk on, or maybe not walk on, but the freshman kicker drills a bomb. You're like, oh my gosh, you made it. That's the only reason they're here. Clemson's in trouble.
Starting point is 00:38:26 Go Texas. Same here. This one's really interesting. headlines today. Big Ten SEC showdown in Columbus, baby, volunteers and Buckeyes. You know, I'm a little nervous for Ryan Day. We talked about it.
Starting point is 00:38:37 I know. It's big. The seat is always warm in Ohio State. The game won't be warm. The headline will be, Fala Lala loss. Buckeyes deck the Vols. I really do like Ohio State here.
Starting point is 00:38:52 They have the better roster. They do. I know you had Tennessee and the Natty in the preseason. Colin, I'm looking them up. I don't know. No, they lost to Arkansas. Well, it wasn't in Fayette, Bill. They did beat Alabama.
Starting point is 00:39:05 They did get that win, but is Alabama good? I watch some of that game. I'm like, I just don't see dynamic. You watch Tennessee against like, you know, directional state university and they win 56-0. You're like, oh, Tennessee looks good. But I don't know that I see. It's going to be 16 degrees in Columbus.
Starting point is 00:39:22 And again, coldest game that Tennessee played in 41 degrees against Vandy in Nashville. This is a big drop. These teams coming from the south, up north above the Mason-Dixon line into cold weather in December, hostile territory. Again, we've never seen this before. Playoff games on campus sites in December. We're going to see it for the first time. I think Big Edge to Ohio State.
Starting point is 00:39:44 Give me the Buckeyes. All right. Let's pivot to pro football. I don't think it's a great NFL week for lines. I took a lot of people like the Jets. At three, I'll take the Rams. I thought the Bengals. The Bengals would have been my best play, but that's a bad game, DTR.
Starting point is 00:40:01 Line soaring now, but anyway. Tomorrow's headlines today. Eagles at the commanders on Fox. Now, it does have some value for both teams. Commanders don't stack up, but they are at home. They played Philly tough on that Thursday night game, and there's a lot here with the Eagles trying to get that number one seed. Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:22 If the lions slip up in Chicago, cold weather game, maybe the Eagles could steal the number one seed. However, the headline will be, ho, ho, hold the line. Philly tush pushed into Christmas past. I'm sorry. I'm going with Dan Quentin here, Colin, upset special in Washington. The line's been tricky here, early money on Washington, then it came back on Philly, and now, what's it said, now three and a half. I just, I really wonder about A.J. Brown. I know the injury report was grim for Philly. It has gotten better. Seekwan's fine. A. J. Brown is kind of practicing. that knee is interesting.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Do you force him into a game here, or do you say, we're going to need him in January? AJ Brown is a game breaker. We haven't lost the game with him. I think they'll be cautious. But at the same time, this whole Siriani stuff, remember Edelman this week talking about that? Like, listen, man, that sideline, they don't respect him.
Starting point is 00:41:13 I wonder how much of this is going to seep. Because there's a lot of conversation in Philly about this. How much of it seeps into the game against Washington? And I love what I saw from Washington against the Saints. Last week, they were rolling. And then the Kingsbury, you know, took his foot, off the gas. I didn't love that, but I am going to go with Washington
Starting point is 00:41:30 in a mild upset here. From the look on your face, you're not riding with it. Well, it's more than a mild upset. It's all, I mean, the spread's three and a half. Washington is good. Listen, I know everybody loves Tampa as a sleeper in January. Why not Washington? Jane Daniels and McLaurin are clicking. Offensive
Starting point is 00:41:46 lines looking good. Brian Robinson's dynamic. Yeah. Robinson's underrated. All right, finally, oh, this is a stinker. Well, it's Michael Penix. That makes it interesting. You're right. Yeah, it's on Fox. I want to watch Michael Pennock's.
Starting point is 00:42:00 Tomorrow's headlines today. The Giants at the Falcons. It's the Michael Panics debut, so that's fun. It's very exciting. And they lined it up for them in a dome against one of the most injury-ravaged teams in the league. There were some reporters who cover the Giants tweeting out names of guys who've been called up from the practice squad. And it's like, is this a real player? Are you making up names?
Starting point is 00:42:21 The headline will be the Pennix, mightier than the sword. QB added to Nice List. I think Pennix is in line for a big one. They've got weapons in a good old line. He's going to have some help. I'll tell you this. It ain't going to be worse than what we've seen from Kirk Cousins for the last five weeks. And Pennix is that all season?
Starting point is 00:42:39 Remember, were you the one who said the flacco to the Lamar Jackson? Was that your comparison? It feels a little bit like it. It was like an aging player, a kid that's lightened it up that we liked in practice. You're hearing reports that he's, and all of a sudden you're like, Yeah, the old guy's getting old fast. I mean, if you want to get excited for Michael Pennix, go back and look at what he did in the college football playoff.
Starting point is 00:43:00 Go watch what he did to Oregon twice. Oh, my gosh. This guy can sling it. And, you know, you got Darnel Mooney on the outside, Drake London. They got weapons. And I felt like they were being underutilized with Kirk Cousins, who was just skittish to get the ball out.
Starting point is 00:43:14 He just looked uncertain. Listen, I'm going to throw this at you. I was told this. I've been told this by two NFL executives. that every quarterback in this draft class rates higher than Shadur Sanders, the number one quarterback in this class. Even JJ McCarthy.
Starting point is 00:43:33 Yeah. Wow. So what it tells you is this quarterback class, I mean, you watch Boat Nix last night at first half. It's pretty impressive. And again, he's got ways to go, and this is not a complete roster. But, I mean, Caleb's talented.
Starting point is 00:43:49 Jade and Daniel's going to make the playoffs. Bo Nick's going to make the playoffs. Yeah. I mean, Drake May has got nothing to work with and he's gotten better. Caleb's losing a lot, but his numbers are like, whoa, this guy's having a good season. He's just holding the ball. Same with Drake May. It's like, he's not the issue.
Starting point is 00:44:05 Like, he's one of the shining silver linings is Drake May. I think what we're going to see from Pennix is, I would say, what, over under 30-ish passes? They're not putting him in a hand off the ball every time, right? They got to get to the win. Well, they have a run game. They do have a really good run game with Bijon, but just watching Pennix last year at Washington, this guy can just, he can carve up defenses, he can make almost every throw. I think he kind of cooks here.
Starting point is 00:44:29 I'll say Falcons win 38, 13 or something. I think this is eye-opening, and we start talking about Monday. Hey, where's Kirk Cousins quarterbacking? Okay, there's going to be one upset. We do this every Friday, Thursday, Friday. I ask you, pick the upset of the weekend. Oh, boy. I think.
Starting point is 00:44:48 I'll let you go first. Well, you have Washington, so I don't even, I'll throw this at you. Jets would be my backup, yeah. Chicago at home against Detroit. Yes, that's a good one. Six and a half, I think is the line. Crappy weather. Chicago's not turning the ball over.
Starting point is 00:45:05 I mean, Caleb's not throwing picks. They're not fumbling. I think they're five and one against a spread at home. And I also think Detroit right now, you can put together eight, nine, ten play drives. You can keep that offensive line off the field. What do you think their mindset is? After the loss, the injuries, Montgomery. I think the Bears are going to win a game before the season's over,
Starting point is 00:45:24 and I think this would be a nice win in the next season, some positivity. I think Chicago at home is a very interesting play. When it was at seven, the wise guys did like it. It's down to six and a half. Now the sharps are off. That's a good hit for you if the Bears pull that off. Save that tape, Brian. Let's archive that.
Starting point is 00:45:42 I'm rarely, very infrequently right this year with pro football. All right. Be safe. Great weekend. The herd. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick.
Starting point is 00:45:53 And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. Nice. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it out. We get to ask other people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Starting point is 00:46:07 Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick. Or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
