This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel

A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Clivert Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career
in sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only
deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
So let's get to it.

On The Look Back at it podcast.
For 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 is big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild.
I mean, it was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days I'd put on 10 pounds, I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

T.J. Hushman Zata, over a decade in the NFL.
That's interesting. Some of the stuff we were just talking about, we can't talk about,
but we can't talk about some stuff.
So I'm going to throw this out to you.
So if you go look, I think Russell Wilson's better than Justin Fields.
I'll stay that.
But if you go look at their numbers the last two years,
and Justin's had a defensive coach, and Russell's had to office,
offensive coaches, their numbers are pretty much even.
So here's my take.
Justin's younger, not rich, more relatable, more fun, and will blow people away at practice.
Russell's more quiet, adult, wealthy, not as relatable, brand new in the locker room we know is history.
And my take, and I could be totally wrong, my take is, is that Justin's going to have the players.
Russell's going to have the coaches.
and after about a two-game losing streak,
that Pittsburgh schedule,
week 10 on is brutal.
Justin's going to get a lot more snaps than people think.
Am I nuts?
No, you aren't.
And the coaches would want to go with Russell Wilson
just because he's done it before.
He's won a Super Bowl before.
So we're going to, can he recapture his old self with us?
Can he do that?
But if he can't,
and the Russell Wilson we've seen
Russell Wilson didn't play bad last year
The defense for Denver was terrible
They didn't play he didn't play bad last year
But the year prior would hack it
He was awful
And so now it's
Can Russell play?
Was it Pete Carroll?
Was it his system
And that defense that really made Russell Wilson
look better?
Justin Fields is talented
Can he throw an anticipation?
Can he throw with timing
and not hold the ball?
If he can do that because the new officer coordinator is a really good coach.
Arthur Smith.
Arthur Smith being a former head coach, but if you look when he was in Tennessee with Ryan Tannihill,
Taney Hill was really good.
Oh, he was reborn from Miami.
Yes, and so you want to run the ball, you want to play action.
You have a receiver out there in George Pickens that's 100% going to win his one-on-ones.
The jump ball with him, they 50-50 balls are 80-20 with George Pickens.
And so Tomlin and that coach and staff,
will want to go with Russell Wilson.
But if he falters it any bit,
I can see Justin Fields
starting eight, nine games
this season. I can too,
especially in the back end of that schedule.
And also, not that Pittsburgh
would fire Tomlin, but
I could see Tomlin,
he'll get a lot of heat.
He's got it increasingly,
he was a little more patient with Kenny Pickett
when most of us bailed after about 10 starts.
So I just think it's something to keep your eye on
because you've been in locker rooms before.
Sometimes, I mean, you tell me all the years,
Bengals, Seahawks, Ravens, Raiders,
is the locker room always absolutely sure
that the best quarterback is playing?
Well, for me.
Yeah, you had Carson.
Yeah, we had Carson, so it was no question.
And I go to Seattle as Housellback is no question.
Okay, okay.
And so I will say this,
as players, you know who you feel.
should be playing. I mean, I've seen some guys get cut and I'm like, whoa, they cut him.
This dude could play. But at the quarterback position, if you're winning, you're cool.
Start losing games because there's always three or four dudes in a locker room.
They don't care who's around what coach, the owner.
They just say stuff.
They just say whatever. I mean, I play with dudes that literally will tell a coach at halftime of a game.
You don't know what the hell you're doing. This dude ain't even playing.
Like you just get players, they just don't care.
They have no filter.
They just say whatever.
And so if you start losing, guys will start talking and say,
I feel like a field should be playing.
And then it's just, it's a snowball.
Yeah, yeah, you're right.
I do think he should be playing.
And if you start to get that, you're going to separate the locker,
the locker room, and it can become a problem.
But in that division, you got Joe Burrow, you got Lamar Jackson.
If Deshaun Watson returns the form, it's an uphill battle.
Pittsburgh has that defense that will keep a problem.
Pittsburgh has that defense that will keep him in games, but it's an uphill battle for the Steelers.
So you spent some time with the Chargers.
So Jim at San Diego, Niners, Michigan, this is what he does.
Overnight, he turns it around.
Like a lot of coaches, even Sabin took like three years for them.
His second year, he got waxed by Utah.
Most great coaches take two, three years to turn it around.
What's the secret sauce with Harbaugh to do it?
he took over a mess at Michigan,
a mess with the Niners,
instantly good.
He's smart.
He can relate to players.
Anybody that goes to their practice,
he has his Jordan Cleats home,
and he might get under center sometimes
and participate in practice.
They do a lot of post-practice lifts and runs.
He's doing it with the players.
You think he out there are baby Dan Campbell.
You know, he's doing a lot of that stuff.
Let you in on a little...
There's a lot of coaches in the league that teach you football.
but when it comes to getting you better at your position, there's not many.
And we as players, you know that.
When you have a coach like Harbaugh, you believe in him.
You trust when he tells you this is the look we're going to get,
and this is how we're going to handle that look.
You trust and believe it.
You don't second guess it.
So as soon as you see that look, what you've gone over in practice,
second nature, you believe it, you go.
Certain coaches, you don't believe it.
You second guess it.
And so it just doesn't flow as smoothly.
The play doesn't go off the way you want it because you're not believing it.
And if I'm not believing it, the guy next to me probably isn't.
The guy next to him probably is it.
And so when you have somebody like Harbaugh that everybody knows what you just said,
University of San Diego, Stanford, Michigan, the 49ers, now the Chargers,
he's going to turn it around.
So when he tells you something, you're going to believe it and you trust it because it's track record.
record is proven that.
So Jamar Chase not practicing.
Brandon Ayuk is, but he's unhappy.
You hold in.
Does that stuff, does it affect anything to players talk,
or is it just same old?
He'll be back.
It can become a problem.
It can.
It really depends on how the player handles it.
Meaning, if Jamar Chase is not practicing because he wants a new deal
and he's just kind of cool about it,
but he's just not practicing, it's fine.
But if you start having bad body language,
you start saying certain things and certain players,
then it will become a problem.
And I just don't understand teams.
I don't.
I don't understand teams.
If I know somebody is in my future,
if you're going to be on my team for a long time,
the sooner I sign you,
the less expensive it is for my team.
Yeah, welcome to corporate.
I don't understand why they wait.
The Eagles are the best at this.
The Eagles get guys signed.
Like,
Jerry Jones, you didn't think C.D. Lown was going to be a part of your future?
Sign him a long time ago.
Now you got to give him more.
The same thing with Dak.
You better sign Michael Parsons now
because somebody's going to leapfrog what he wants.
And now you've got to give him more than that.
And so back to Jamar Chase and BA.
If he's a part of your future, just pay him because we're humans.
You walk around.
There's days.
You're going to have good days.
You're going to be pissed off.
Like, bro.
Like, bad body language.
And the coach is not going to say, like,
coach is not going to say anything to you if you're the player that will snap back
because certain guys, they're just not going back down for it.
It no matter who the coach is.
So now you've created a problem because the player wants to get paid.
So it really depends on if the player can be a true professional
and handle it each day the way he should.
But that is very hard to do.

Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot
flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal
chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with
the Anna Maria Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate
Midlife's most fantastic BS.
All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like, what the hell is that?
I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Wait, what sex?
Dating at 45.
How can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy?
That one's kind of hard, you know?
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.
Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura podcast network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
So you've had, you've made multiple predictions through the years.
on quarterbacks that you've trained with or you know you're the one that said
Justin Herbert's going to be a star Joe Burrell's going to be a star so you know Josh
Allen you called all these guys so we got five new quarterbacks this issue we got
bone necks and Michael Pennix and J.J. McCarthy and Caleb Williams and Jaden
Daniels and what's the kid at North Carolina? Drake May
Drake May I think he's a project. Give me a jet if I said
you don't have to tell me where you get your information but if I said to you
this blank guy is going to work, and it may work quick.
I'll give you two guys that I believe will work and work quick is Caleb Williams and Bo Nix.
Interesting.
Caleb Williams and Bo Nix.
So let's start with Bo because that may surprise people.
Why is that going to work quickly?
You would a coach that has always had success with quarterbacks.
And he started so many games in college.
Yeah, 61.
He started so many games in college.
Like four years.
Like every year.
And then the COVID year.
By the way, two conferences.
So he had a bunch of different coordinators.
So, I mean, Bo Nix has dealt with three coaches, five coordinators, two conferences.
He's going to be successful because he's seen a lot.
He's ready to play right now.
And you're with a coach that his proof.
I can win with almost anybody.
I mean, Sean Payne was a.
winning games with Teddy Bridgewater,
Taysam Hill,
and at a high level.
Yeah.
And so I believe Bo Nix will be fine.
He has Troy Franklin,
a familiar face as a receiver that he played with in college.
Also, for the record,
I think Mims and Cortland,
I think Cortland Sutton, he may be a lower-end one,
but I love Cortland.
He kind of held out.
He wanted more money, which I didn't understand.
But he's a good player.
But he's a good player.
But Bo Nix is, I believe,
he's going to play well.
I mean,
if you look at the amount of starts he had in college, very rarely,
with a guy with this many starts at the highest level of college football,
the SEC in the PAC 12, which was the best conference last season,
I believe he'll be successful, and Caleb Williams just speaks for himself.
Duke can just play.
What do you know LSU well?
I think Jaden Daniels has a little Lamar Jackson.
I think he's probably more refined at this point in his life in the pocket,
but not quite as fast.
Is he a little thin?
What do you make of it?
Jayton Daniels can play, man.
Train with us the entire last year.
I mean, Jayton Daniels is probably 210 pounds.
When Jayton first started, probably 175.
No, at Arizona State, his helmet looked too big.
He's accurate.
You want to play with him as a player, the way he carries himself.
You want to play with him a personable dude.
The only concern I would have is, would Dan Quinn being a defensive coach,
is he going to be making some of the calls, meaning,
hey, I just want to run the ball here,
we'll punt ball.
And, yeah, he's not calling to play,
but you technically are calling to play.
Just what kind of leash are you going to have?
Are you going to let him play?
Or are you going to try to play game safe
and hope your defense can win it?
And so that may be my only concern.
I heard Cliff Kingsbury really pushed hard
for Jaden Daniels with a number two pick,
that Cliff was like, that kid's good.
when you look at the improvements that he made each year in college is remarkable.
If LSU has a good defense state, they're playing in a college football playoff last year.
Yeah.
He was that good last year.
And so you statistically, it was better than what Joe Burrow did.
Joe Burrow just had a ton of NFL guys on defense, whereas Jane Daniels didn't.
Right.
And you can look at it and say, man, this guy's going to play.
We know two or three these guys aren't going to play well.
But if I had to pick two, it would be those guys because of the situation that Bowknicks is in.
And you look at the weapons that Caleb Williams have and that he has to play with.
And Chicago's defense was very good down the stretch last season.
Excellent.
T.J. Hushman Zada, he'll be on a speak today at 5 Eastern on FS1.
Great senior as always, buddy.
Always great.
Thank you.
Appreciate you having me.
Oh, I love having you.
J. Mack with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
All right, let's start with Caleb Williams.
Getting ready for his rookie campaign.
The Bears have put all their eggs in his basket going forward.
But Caleb says he doesn't feel like any of that outside pressures on him.
Pressure isn't a word that I use and my vocabulary.
Really, only when other people talk about it.
And every time that you'll hear me speak about pressure is that I don't think that pressure is a thing.
as long as you prepare for the moment, mentally and physically.
Getting here work, get after, whether it's wave room, film, room,
and then get on the field and work, and then obviously game days.
Get out there and go be special.
I like that.
I don't like the word pressure.
It doesn't exist.
Do your prep, let it rip.
That's good advice.
It's going to be interesting in a beautiful city, Chicago.
Maybe you can join me for a weekend or two in the windy city they call.
When are you going?
Maybe I'll consider it.
I have a trip in October for sure.
I know, I'm gone.
You got a free hotel room for me or no?
Oh, I got room for you.
Why don't you bring your wife out there?
Oh, what is this?
A recruiting pitch?
Anyways, let's move on to Travis Kelsey, who has,
listen, he's had a busy off season following Taylor Swift all around the world,
which sounds like fun, by the way.
But now he's back at Chiefs Camp gearing up for his 12th season.
Listen, man, we talked about it last year.
He had not had a great season like a midway through.
He looked old.
Well, he was falling in love.
He was falling in love.
You get a little...
You got to go back to your old love.
Football.
Top priority over Taylor's...
The old ball and chains always available.
Anyway, well, listen, he's been one of Mahomes' favorite targets over the years,
but Kelsey admitted that at 34, he's feeling a lot of wear and tear.
Last year was pretty taxing on my body.
I've had more snaps than a lot of guys, if not everybody,
in the NFL over the past five.
six years. And, you know, I'm very fortunate. I'm very prideful of that. But I know it has taken
a toll on my body. So it's just, you know, making sure that my body's getting that rest and that
ability to, you know, train harder and be able to withstand an entire 17 to 20 game season.
By the way, do you see Taylor Swift was in Germany over the weekend? She'd performed at a venue
where there was a hill next to it and the hill was packed with people that couldn't get into the
stadium. Very thoughtful.
Okay.
Listen, you had a good point about the Cowboys where you said if CD Lamb goes down.
Oh, they're in big trouble.
What the hell of?
Okay.
Let's say Travis Kelsey has to miss eight games.
What's your concern level with the cheats?
Who's wide receivers?
Probably a bottom seven group?
Yeah.
We don't know what's up with her she rice.
He'll play.
If Worthy can play.
Oh, come on.
Is he even better than Brandon Cooks?
We don't know.
Well, he's considered a better prospect than Brandon Cooks.
Cook's was a
burner. He can deliver.
He's bounced around the league.
I just, if something were to happen
to Kelsey,
well, there's no question.
They're not nearly as good in the red zone.
I mean, that just changes the entire AFC.
And like Mahomes is a superstar.
We know Reed is awesome.
They could scheme up a Checo and
a bunch of other dudes, but
I've got my concerns with the Chiefs.
No, I don't think they're going to three feet.
I don't. I think they're going to be good, but I
got my eye on Buffalo.
Buffalo. Wow.
That's bold.
I just can't wait
that we start doing
UV me gambling on NFL.
Some of these games
like Buffalo over the Jets,
that's not happening.
I'm going to spend
some real money gambling
on college football this year.
Okay.
I will piggyback with
Oh, yeah.
I am so fired up
for college football.
Yeah.
All right.
Final story is
JJ McCarthy.
The rookie out of Michigan
is battling with Sam Donald
for the Viking starting QB role.
Donald is the clear front runner
right now,
but that doesn't bother McCarthy.
He says he's just focusing on learning and growing every day.
I feel like, you know, I'm not focused on the outcomes of each day.
I'm just focusing on learning how to get better and improve the weaknesses that I have with my game
and also learn my teammates' strengths and try to amplify them every chance I get.
So we're off to a great start so far.
When the time comes, the time comes.
And I'm just training it every single day.
So when that time does come, I'm going to be ready.
Sam Darnel's going to have a very interesting year.
I think people are just putting the Vikings in full.
fourth place. Be very
careful. What's there over under?
Seven and a half, six and a half.
Be very careful.
Denver and the Vikings,
super smart offensive coaches,
capable quarterbacks,
nice weapons on the perimeter.
Vikings Broncos are being
disrespected by Vegas.
I've got to ask, before I come back to Vikings,
obligatory. Rookie quarterback,
podium, with the stuff
behind him and he had the hat backwards.
I know that really ruffles your feathers.
Don't love it.
Not a huge fan of that, huh?
Nope.
Welcome to the NFL, J.J. McCarthy.
Remember, I've been bullish on him for a while.
I don't think he's going to start on with you.
Ask for the Vikings.
So I think we did AFC headlines on Friday.
We're doing NFC this week.
I'm very excited.
And the Vikings are the team I want to put in the playoffs.
I don't know if I can pull the trigger.
Let me tell you something.
It's all on Sam Darnel.
You know they have talent.
It's all in Sam Darnel.
So I think they're fascinating because, you know,
love Darnold, but I can also acknowledge that he tends to be a beat late sometimes on throws and
uncorks one horrible throw every Sunday. He's got an awful pick every Sunday. But that was with the
New York Jets. That's right. Well, Carolina, too. Okay, fine, Carolina. Might as well be the same day.
I just think, I think he has the best coach he's had and the best weapons and the best old line.
So I think he's going to be Baker Mayfield. Everybody bailed on him. You went to L.A. and you're
They're like, hmm.
And they went to Tampa and you're like, hmm, everybody bailed.
Gino Smith, everybody bailed.
He got the right group of people supporting him, good receivers, continuity, Pete Carroll.
Oh, Gino can play a little.
So you know how I like to say the best time to rebuild is last year, right?
I think the Vikings are doing as good of a job.
Remember, they move off Dalvin Cook in a pillow.
Oh, what are you doing?
Dalvin Cook's good.
Goes to the Jets.
Totally washed.
Yeah, I don't even know if Dalvin Cook's in the league right now.
they moved off at the right time.
Kirk Cousins, move off,
coming off the injury.
I think there's one of the sharpest front offices
in the league, and if I'm betting Vikings,
I'm betting on Kevin O'Connell, the great coach.
There's six and a half. You don't think they can go
seven and ten with those weapons?
Yeah, I think that has to be.
Vikings and the Broncos. I mean, Denver's five and a half wins.
They can't, Sean Payton can't go six and 11.
Now they've got three legit targets.
If the O-line is healthy for Minnesota and Denver, they're winning games.
Remember, the other thing is if Sean Payton, because the Denver's got a good O-line,
if Bonex just stays upright and healthy, he'll face four or five backups over the course of the season,
60 quarterbacks play a year.
So my big difference between those two is Russell Wilson played last year for Denver,
and they weren't great.
Kevin O'Connell, once her cousin went down, had like Josh Dobbs,
Dude, you've never heard of Taryn Hall.
But Russell Wilson was a terrible fit with Sean.
Bow Nix is a perfect fit for Sean.
He's Drew Breeze 2.0.
Russell Wilson's running out of open.
I mean, there's multiple people have come on our show.
Multiple people have come on our show and said that Russell Wilson last year,
when you looked at the film like Greg Kosell, Russell was running out of completions.
That, I can tell you, drove Sean crazy.
Sean's not going to ream you if he just can't make certain throws.
But when he schemes stuff open and you won't let go with the ball,
that's why Russell's no longer a Denver Bronco.
Bo Nix, I watched him twice live.
Oregon schemed him up beautifully.
He didn't add lib a lot, didn't have to.
You scheme by his, he's a coach's kid.
You scheme him up, he delivers the ball.
The kid, it's like 70% completion, right?
By the way, T.J. Hushmanzada.
I talked to somebody over the weekend who I trust.
He said, don't be shocked at Bo Nix.
Now, I don't believe this, but he said, don't be surprised if Bo Nix
doesn't have the best rookie season of all these quarterbacks.
Better than Caleb.
He said best rookie season.
He said he's got three receivers, two backs, good old line, smart coach.
He goes, he may not have the ceiling of Caleb or Javan.
He says, but don't be shocked if Bo Nix doesn't have the best 15, 16 game resume
at the end of the season.
Huh.
Bolt.
It's kind of bull.
I mean, they lost Jerry Judy.
I don't know that you guy.
That guy's on the No Hands team.

Well, that's the news.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is
not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the
athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

American soccer,
about to explode. The World Cup is coming.
Ramos sending on to Ernie Stewart the chip.
I'm Tad Ramos. I'm Tom Boe. On our podcast, inside American soccer, you'll get the real
storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about Balagan. I'm not worried
about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
and the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals
or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
The World Cup is almost here.

Chris Paul stopped by earlier today,
and the Point God stopped by our show today.
He's a two-time Olympic gold medalist.
played with the late Kobe Bryant on one of those teams.
We talked about something that was kind of an uncomfortable moment
where Jason Tatum sat, never got in the game,
and watched two of his Celtic teammates, Derek White,
and Drew Holiday, get all sorts of minutes.
And I asked Chris about, you know,
Feeba Olympics, chemistry, playing time in a shorter game,
and how weird it is.
USA basketball is always tough, you know,
because you have some of the best players in the world,
and JT is obviously one of the best players in the world.
And I always speak about our 2008 Olympic team,
and that was my first time playing in the Olympics.
And I always say the three most important players on that team
are great players that sometimes people leave out
when they're naming that team.
And that's Michael Red, Tashon, Prince, and Carlos Buzer.
And I say that because those guys were just pros.
It's just a different landscape now
where everyone's going to talk about it on social
and all this stuff, man.
But I just hope that J.T. knows who he is
and what he's capable of love
and just continues to get ready for when his name is called.
The other thing, and Jay Mack and I are excited for this,
is that if you've watched the Olympics and you've watched Wembe for the French team,
he is so spectacularly unique and dominant.
I mean, he blocks shots with his elbow.
There's just nothing like him in the world.
I mean, a lot of great people,
players. I mean, when you watch Kobe, he was a little like MJ. Very few players are,
Steph Curry came into the league. Nobody shot like that. Nobody plays like Wembe. Now,
Chet Holmgren's got some of the skills with Oklahoma City. But Chris Paul now is a member of
the Spurs, the point God with Wembe, and the, he talked about Wembe and the evolution of European
players. He's one of those guys that after the game this past year, we all talked about how
weird it was to try to guard him to try to shoot over him but it just shows you how the game is grown
i mean and there's an appreciation i think for you know american players or whatnot of the european
players i was watching the greece game the other day and i saw spinoleus as the coach you know i've
played long enough to remember him as a player you know there's NBA plays that's named after him
and now he's coaching the greek national team so it's it's dope to see how the game continues to grow
And it just means that, you know, people like my kids and all this stuff,
you're just going to have to get that much better.
I love when we show here on FS1, when we showed the French highlights,
and you and I were kind of mystify.
I mean, it was just watching him last year.
We didn't watch a lot of Spurs games.
But here on the Olympic stage, most of these Olympic teams have NBA players,
when he blocked shots, like people are still adjusting to Wemby's defense,
he has he'll have 10 block games
and I think people
it's one thing that you're tall
there's been tall players Yao Ming forever
but 7-4 and active
like he's not only 7-4
he's got catch-up speed
so you're quick and get past him
most bigs you can get past to the rim
you can't with Wemby
so some of the blocks are players are adjusting
to his deep forget the offense
he's going to give you 28 a game next year
But his defense, I think it's, remember the average NBA guy, six, six and a half.
He was like seven four and long.
Ralph Samson.
Oh, of course.
He was a great player at Virginia and then in the NBA.
I remember him well.
Houston Rockets.
Him and Elijah won had like a moment where they, I thought they were going to overtake the Lakers in the West.
They did beat him one year.
Now, he didn't have the ball handling skills.
He wasn't as fluid offensively.
He was more of a classic big man.
I mean, he was a great dominant college player.
Oh, he was the dominant college.
But you're right. Wemby's just like that
times 10 with the handle.
A guy that's long forgotten,
but was really interesting is Sam
Bowie at Kentucky. If you YouTube
Sam Bowie, Sam Bowie had
a little Wemby, where he could
give him the ball in the wing, and he could take a few
dribbles. He's a shooter. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, Sam
Bowie, I think, is the one player.
Greg Oden got hurt, but in the
history of the NBA, if you took one guy
that I thought, injuries
derailed his career, two.
Bill Walton and Sam Bowie, and we'll never know with Bowie,
but I remember watching him in college,
and like Wemby, he could put the ball on the deck
and pull up for a 16-footer, and you were like,
oh, that looks good.
Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway also,
two guys who were unbelievable start.
I mean, Grant Hill was supposed to be post-Jordan,
the guy for the league, and then he had injuries.
Yeah, Penny Hardaway as well.
Penny Hardaway, it was good.
I went and saw a lot of Penny games with the Orlando Magic
when I worked in Tampa.
That Orlando team was fun. Nick Anderson, Dennis Scott, Shaq. Dennis Scott. Nick Anderson missed some crucial free throws.
They did against the rockets, but they also took down Jordan in the playoffs.
Yes. I don't remember that. That's forgotten.
Somehow, that videotape disappeared into the ether.
Donald Royale locking up Michael Jordan. This happened. Look at a guy. I'm not making this up.
That's funny. It happened.
All right. I think women's team USA plays at three today.
Caitlin Clark's suiting up yet or no.
No, she's not on the team.
She's a big distraction.
Oops.
Yeah.
