This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's
superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

On the Look Back at it podcast.
For 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard,
but celebrated.
So let's get to it.

The USFL is coming Saturday and kicks off with an historic inaugural game as the New Jersey
Generals take on the Birmingham Stallions in primetime on Fox and NBC.
All right, NBA playoffs.
Those playing games are playoffs.
Don't listen to anybody.
You have to qualify for them.
You have to qualify for the regular season.
If you have a franchise, you've got to play the games.
You've got to qualify for playing games.
Therefore, they're the playoffs.
They've been fantastic.
Atlanta looked good last night.
Let's go to Chris Broussard calls.
First things first.
Let's start with this one.
I said earlier, I don't know what to do on the Jazz Dallas series.
I have no idea.
I have no strong conviction.
I would if Luca was healthy.
Now he's out game one.
So give me an update.
Like, is he going to miss three games in the series or what?
No, you're right.
I was with you.
I had Dallas in this series.
But if Luca's out, and they're going to be cautious as they should be.
You know, they don't want this thing to become something that lingers over the summer.
And then, you know, the question is for early next year when he gets back.
So I think they're going to be extra cautious, and I wouldn't be surprised if he missed.
You know, he's out for game one.
I wouldn't be surprised if he misses, you know, a few more games and possibly the entire series,
especially if they get down early and it looks like they can't come back.
So they're going to do the right thing and be cautious with him.
But if he can't play, I'm going with Utah.
If he can and he can be himself and get back early in the series, I still would like Dallas.
Okay, you like Brooklyn.
I like Brooklyn.
You have more insight than I do on this.
I said two weeks ago, or maybe a week ago,
I said if Ben Simmons could give me eight minutes a half
and just play defense on a Jimmy Butler,
a Jason Tatum, Chris Middleton,
I think they can get to the Eastern Conference finals
and potentially win.
I don't think they can beat Phoenix,
but they could get there.
So do you like him?
And what do we know about Simmons and his ability to play?
We're on the same page, Colin,
because I've got Phoenix over Brooklyn in the finals.
and you and I are both going against conventional wisdom by going with the Nets.
As far as Simmons, and my pick is with or without Simmons,
but you're absolutely right in that if he comes back and just can give them strong defense,
we know that's their biggest challenge is on the defensive end,
but if he's back, then he helps out on that end.
As I've been told, as was reported, it's been confirmed to me,
that they're shooting for later in the series.
Like if he can get back for a game four or five,
play the rest of the series. That's what they're looking to do. So Colin defense, he can play
no matter how rusty he is, right? He's a smart defender. Obviously, he's got the athleticism
and the strength to do it, and he knows how to guard. And let's not, even though he hasn't been
playing, we know they've been having him out there with the team, maybe walking through, I'm sure
walking through some stuff to know the plays, know the system.
And if you look at the role, say Bruce Brown is playing.
Bruce Brown's average 15 points over the last two months.
You can easily play Ben Simmons in that type of role.
Defensively, he's going to do his thing.
And I'm not expecting a ton offensively, but he can get it and push it in transition.
We know that.
And then when he's in the half court, you can play him kind of like a Bruce Brown,
who sometimes initiates the offense,
but also is in the dunker spot or near the basket
and getting a lot of putbacks and allie-ups and things like that.
You can obviously do that with Ben Simmons.
So as time went on and he got stronger and stronger,
their chances would be better and better.
So I'm with you.
I got them in the east.
I know I'm going out on the limb.
But Colin,
they almost beat Milwaukee last year with Kevin Durant
and James Hardin playing on one leg.
leg. That was it. They were up to one when Kyrie went down in game four, and they almost beat
them with hardened limping. So, yeah, I give them a great chance. Okay, so this is not a
playoff question, but when you're in a city like Los Angeles and perhaps New York, Chicago,
you can't be as patient. There's just too many options for people to do here. The Dodgers are
great. The Rams are great. USC's got Lincoln Riley. L.A.F.C.'s great. Beaches, mountains. There's too
much stuff to do here. So the Lakers could be patient, bring back the whole crew next year mostly.
And I'm like, you can do that. But if Kauai Leonard and Paul George play, they will easily be the
best team in town and the best NBA watch. And so my takeaway is the Lakers are going to do something
big here. Give me light at the end of the tunnel for Westbrook. There's been rumors about what they can do.
I do not think they'll sit idly and be patient and keep their first round picks. My takeaway is they'll
move those things. I keep hearing
about the 2025 first round pick
or 2027. That's five years.
Forget it.
That's a different calendar.
So I look at it and I think big move
coming. Give me an idea what you could do
with Westbrook. Look, I think
they're going to be able to trade him because
no one is untradable.
I've covered the league for almost three decades
Colin and I've learned
no one is untradable.
Heck, Russell Westbrook got traded
when his contract was
onerous to Houston and then to Washington and then to the Lakers.
And the contract was bad when he got traded in those situations.
This time it's a good contract.
Now, the unfortunate thing for Westbrook, the three previous teams that traded for him,
traded for him thinking he could help him win and they wanted the player.
The next team that trades for him, they only want the contract.
They're like, look, let's just get through this year.
It's going to be horrible.
Maybe we'll put some people in the seats.
but we're looking to get that $47 million off of our cap after next season.
The talk right now, Charlotte's been mentioned, I don't think that's happening because
Westbrook goes there, balls in his hands, he can hinder the development of lamello ball.
All right.
New York's been mentioned, I don't think they're going that route.
Indiana is the team that's out there that makes some sense because they've already started
the rebuilding process, right?
DeMondis Sabonis, who's a very good player.
They traded him an all-star, Karras Levert.
Would they give up Malcolm Brogden and Buddy Heel for Westbrook for one year?
And then to go into free agency and clear their books and see what they can do.
If the Lakers can get that, Colin, then they're in business.
Yeah.
Because I contend that LeBron and AD are still a foundation to a team that can contend for a championship.
Now, I don't believe LeBron's going to win another championship.
But with those two, and you add some pieces around them that can shoot the three, can guard,
they've got, you know, they'll be right there in contender status.
Because the last time AD was healthy, they were pushing Phoenix.
They were up to one on Phoenix.
They were in the regular season, 21 and 6, when he got hurt early last season.
And of course, the year before they win the championship.
So those two are still a foundation for,
success, you just got to build around them the right way.
By the way, we get ready for the playoffs.
Patrick Beverly's celebration the other night.
Stephen Jackson didn't like it.
I'm not a big celebration guy.
My theory on life is celebrate briefly, grind regularly.
That gives you sustained success.
He went kind of crazy.
What did you make of it?
Did you like it?
No, I think we lost him.
There you go.
It happens.
And these big satellites, something bumping into it.
One of Elon Musk's thing up there is
bumping into it and we lose Chris Broussard.
I am not, for the record.
I think celebrations should be brief.
I think if you spend too much time on it,
Cam Newton had this act all played out.
Like, I'm not really into that stuff.
But, you know, I mean, you got to celebrate some.
If you work really hard, you got to celebrate some.
And there's got to be a little, you know,
you can't just work your whole life and not have a good time occasionally.
No, I mean, none of it bothered me.
But you can look at it and say, like, well, these, like,
They've clearly never been there before.
Like there are people who are going to say that.
And it's fair.
Yeah.
Well, I mean.
Like this is one step.
Enjoy it.
Celebrate.
But then don't go so far that it looks like this is something bigger than it isn't.
Yeah.
I mean, Pat Bev, it made it look like game seven of the finals.
It was a playing game win over an injury riddle franchise who was lucky to get in.
Yeah.
We wouldn't even be talking about it if it was a moderate amount of celebration after the game.
Yeah.
It was a little over the top.
It was definitely over the top, but that's the point.
Like, did you accomplish something here, or did you get a big emotional win for yourself?
I don't mind the fans go.
Fans can go as crazy as they want.
Yeah, fans go great.
I mean, they should be.
Yeah.
That market for.
That's what you pay that money for is to go there and enjoy a moment.
Yeah.

a crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

All right.
Joy Taylor with the news.
No.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Well, Deshawn Watson got a fully guaranteed contract with the Browns this off
season.
That's crazy, by the way.
Just say that.
All guaranteed.
All of it. Every penny.
Well, yes.
And especially considering there are still so many unknowns with that
situation, it's quite drastic.
And obviously, the owners were not super happy about it.
Other teams probably didn't love.
and there was people who went on the record saying that they didn't love it.
Jerry Jones said he's happy the Cowboys had already gotten Dax extension done before the
Deshawn Watson deal was made. When I look at what has happened since we've done the
contract. I'm proud that we have it. DeShan's contract was a big one. It just reinforces.
It just takes one or two teams to really covet a player and
they really get those numbers on up there.
Here's the thing about contracts,
and this is why I really don't enjoy talking about them
and have not forgiven the Cowboys
for making us talk about Dax's contracts
for as long as we did.
When you get into the money side of things,
it's like who deserves what and who should take what
in order to fit what when you have a salary cap leak.
Right.
I always felt like Dack was going to get paid
and deserved to get paid
because he didn't make any money with the Cowboys
up until this contract.
and they had plenty of time to put pieces around and pay everybody else
while he was having the performances that he was having.
He's also done an amazing job at being the Cowboys' Franchise Quarterback,
which I think is a specific assignment that everyone is not equipped for.
Even some other franchise quarterback.
He's the anti-Baker.
His intangibles are amazing.
Right, and I do think you earn money that way as well.
Oh, there's Alex Smith.
could have a job for as long as he wanted it
because he was so great not only on the field
but on the quarterback room.
Like he was a great representation of the position.
And I also feel like if you haven't been paid yet,
I'm less likely to judge the contract that you're taking
and your motivations.
I think DAC is somebody who wants to win.
I also think he deserved the contract,
however large it was, that he got.
They didn't pay him for a long time.
They had the opportunity to put pieces around him.
They did in some regards and didn't have success.
Why is that Dax's obligation to continue to give them a team-friendly deal on his first deal?
Now, after this and how he handles his money moving forward might put him in a different category,
which I'm also fine with.
Like, make as much money as you want to make.
It makes no difference to me.
I do think it changes how we can evaluate you, though.
Like, for example, Aaron Rogers.
If you are somebody who's taking the most amount of money, you are entitled to do that.
I'm not paying you.
It doesn't make any difference to me.
but I can also say you guys are not in the Super Bowl conversation.
There are certain numbers in salary cap leagues that eliminate you from competition
based off of how much you're paying one position.
I don't think the Cowboys are in the Super Bowl conversation.
No, but in all fairness, are they ever really in the Super Bowl competition?
They're close, but I don't think they are.
I don't know that they are.
And I think their roster is significantly worse than it was last year.
I think last year was the year they needed to do it.
Now they have been good at drafting.
but I'm still not ready to put them in the Super Bowl conversation, at least not right now.
So there aren't many options left for Baker-Mayfield to have a starting job next season, at least currently.
The Seahawks could still be looking to upgrade from Drew Locke,
and Baker thinks that Seattle is his most likely destination,
but the team is reportedly not willing to give up much for Baker.
They plan to give Locke a real shot at the starting job,
and they just agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $7 million with Gino Smith.
Oh, yeah, that pretty much eliminate Baker.
I mean, listen, Baker's better than both Gino Smith and Drew Locke.
The Seattle is going to get a real harsh reality check somewhere in camp.
They're going to give Drew Locke a shot, but they're going to figure out real quick.
It's not.
Oh, I think it was a tragic mistake to move on from Russell Wilson.
I would have done anything in life to keep Russell Wilson.
The ownership made a choice.
We're going to take the defensive coach over the quarterback.
Yeah, I think it was a bold strategy.
and I'm with you.
I mean, I told you this before it happened.
I would never move on from Russell Wilson.
No, you will never,
10 years minimum, you'll never find the duplicate.
Because Brussels is going to make the Hall of Fame.
I'm not moving off of a first ballot Hall of Fame quarterback in his prime.
Not doing it.
He has to make me a lot.
He's washed.
Okay.
Well, yeah, it's looking like Seattle is going to run it with Gino Smith and Drew Locke this year,
which if you're going to make the move to move off of Russell Wilson
and essentially press the restart button.
I don't have a problem with them sticking with you.
Right now, Seattle's a three-win team.
That's what they are.
No, I'm serious.
I mean, four?
In that division?
No, I mean, they have a lot of pieces to fill.
They do.
They have the fourth worst roster and the fourth best quarterback.
But there's no value if you were that depleted as a roster in spending anything
on someone like Baker Mayfield, who we've seen, does not have the capacity to produce
wins with a lesser roster and any kind of dysfunction.
when you can just start building this year,
spend a lot of draft capital, build the roster,
and next year,
when you know you're not really going to be competitive
because of the quarterbacks that you have,
then you're in a place where you can then trade up
and you don't have to have such a huge haul
to trade up to get whoever you're going to get in the draft.
So we've been talking about the Packers' wide receivers for a while
and what they're going to do.
They've apparently brought in Sammy Watkins,
agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $4 million.
He spent last year with the rate.
How many games did he play? He's fast. He had a disappointing season. He had a career
blows and catches yards and touchdowns. 27 catches 394 yards and one touchdown last year.
So Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb. All right. It's something. I wish you the very best going
forward. He didn't win a Super Bowl with the Chiefs in the 2019 season. No, I mean,
he, listen, Sammy made a lot of money in his life. He's had been very good. I think Clemson
kid, a big speed receiver. I never thought he was a one. He had some talent. But he was
Because, you know, the reason people go after him is because he can, you know, he can get up over the top.
It's something.
But this is what they can get now with Aaron's contract.
This is it.
They had to let go as Adaira Smith.
He had what?
What do you say?
Only ever had a thousand yards once.
And he's not getting it this year.
So, you know, Randall Cobb and Sammy Watkins.
Yeah.
Good luck.
Congratulations.
You're not going to start on any of that practicing and voluntary workouts, though.
Yeah, he's on his own.
and Jordan loving me throwing it back and forth.
Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Heard Line News.
By the way, I got to throw this in.
The whole transfer portal in college basketball and football, I'm okay with it.
I think it needs some guard rails.
I don't think you should be able to transfer in season.
Even in professional leagues, there's like trading deadlines and free agency periods.
Nick Sabin and Davos Sweeney have both come out this week and said,
the name image likeness is a hot mess and somebody's got to get a control of it.
Lincoln Riley at USC said the same thing.
First of all, the NCAA was simply not prepared for the title wave now known as the name
image likeness.
They just weren't ready for it.
Shocker.
It was not intended to buy high school players.
But as we know, if you don't have rules, there's going to be bad actors and that's what
they're going to do.
It was intended to graciously pay.
the kind of college athletes, men and women, that move merchandise and are really valuable.
I'm not opposed to that.
A lot of the media do-gooders out there, just pay the players, really, so you haven't run a business.
Just pay the players.
There's no guidelines, no rails for anything?
Time out.
When I used to hire babysitters and my kids were four years old, I had rules and guidelines for my five-year-old.
Can eat this, can't eat that, bed here, up then.
You got to have guidelines.
Pro sports have guardrails.
Salary cap.
Can't trade here.
Can't trade there.
Free agents limitations.
You got to have some guard rails on this stuff.
There's no rules, no guidelines, no rails, no anything.
So my takeaway is I'm for the transfer portal.
It's okay to say in the football season, Labor Day to the end of the regular season.
You can't change teams then.
But coaches, coaches don't leave then.
They often leave when the regular season's over.
Well, coaches can make whatever they want.
Well, coaches are 50 and 60 years old,
and coaches are more valuable in college than players.
Nick Sabin's had 20 quarterbacks and 20 coordinators than 50 wide receivers,
and they keep dominating.
The coach in college sports,
because he has ultimate power on personnel decisions,
is more important than the individual player over the long term.
Pete Carroll was bigger for USC.
they've never recovered.
Right?
They've had a bunch of good players.
They've never recovered.
So the coach is going to make a lot of money.
Players are much more replaceable.
Now, in pro sports, it's different.
There is no other Patrick Mahomes.
In pro sports, shake the quarterback over the coach.
Always.
Brady Belichick, Brady mattered more.
But the idea that you can't have guardrails, some rules, is ridiculous.
You've got to have everything in the world.
There's guidelines to everything.
Even in, I won't even mention the industries.
even in industries that many of you, the cannabis industry,
you've got to have some guidelines.
There are regulations.
Adult film industry has massive regulations.
Whether it turns you on or off, whatever,
there are rules and there are ways to treat people.
This NIL is a tidal wave.
They're not prepared for it.
It's an absolute mess.
People are buying high school players.
It will get corrected.
It has to get corrected.
Cross your fingers.
The NCAA has the capacity to do that.

I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

All right, we bring him on to usually last 10 minutes of the show on Friday.
I'm off tomorrow.
Joy is in.
So we call it tomorrow's headlines today with Jason McIntyre.
He's a sports gambling analyst.
He's got a podcast called Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre.
Are you ready to go?
Did you bet my NBA games last night?
Three and O, by the way.
Three and O.
Player props.
I'm crushing it, Colin.
I'm on fire.
Congratulations.
All right.
NBA playoffs underway.
Here we go.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
What's the headline going to be for the team that disappoints us the most in the playoffs?
Well, I think you like them a lot.
You pump up one of their star players.
I'm not a huge fan.
The headline will be Philly between getting rocked and a heart in play.
I've got Toronto winning the series.
I have bet this. Colin, it's a nightmare
matchup for the Sixers. This is not what they want to see.
Joel Embed is going to get his, right?
The old, probably average 35 and 15.
But if you look at how Toronto's
constructed, they are built in the clippers mold.
A lot of wings. They can switch on everything.
James Hardin is in for a rough
series against Scotty Barnes,
OG An An Anobie. And then, Colin,
you toss in the Matisse Thibel, the best wing
defender. Philly has. He's not vaccinated.
He can't play in Toronto for two games.
Again, he's a starter.
And then you look at the coaching matchup, Colin.
Doc Rivers.
Probably the most overrated coach in all of sports.
Colin, I just put this out there.
Among playoff teams, they've blown the most 15-point leads in the league.
Seven of them.
Seven times they've led by 15 or more blew the game.
And Nick Nurse is just going to put him in a body bag.
I feel bad for Philly.
This is going to be tough.
Then you've got all the hardened questions.
I know Daryl's going to blow your phone up after this.
But Colin, I like Toronto to win this series.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
What's the headline going to be for the dark.
course team in the playoffs.
This one just took a bit of a hit in the last 30 minutes,
but nevertheless, I'm sticking with my guy, the headline.
We'll be better be on the Luke out.
I still like Dallas to beat Utah.
Now, that's a bit of a surprise here.
I know people will say, out, without Luca, they're nothing.
Jalen Brunson is going to be a free agent.
He's got a chance to make a lot of money.
He's at a great season.
Villanova kid, tough, never misses a game.
I think Dallas can win one of two at home, right?
Then they go to Utah.
I think Luca will be back for those games.
And they will advance in the series.
And just, I'm just going to remind you,
Luca makes everyone better.
And Phoenix, who they would face in the second round,
has not seen this version of Dallas with Dinwiddie.
All their games against them were earlier in the season.
This is a lights out shooting team in Dallas.
Colin, keep an eye on the Mavs.
That's all I'll say.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
What's the headline going to be for the team
that surprises us the most in the playoffs?
I hate to go against you.
You know, I like when we're on the same side.
But the headline will be,
J&J provide Boston boost.
had to tinge. A little shot at Kyrie Irving, your guy. But I do have Boston winning this series, Colin.
When you watch the Cavs, as soon as Kevin Durant comes off the floor, you know, what do the
Cavs do to the Nets? They just took them out. They instantly cut the lead from 20 to like eight.
Kyrie Irvin goes out only for five minutes. And instantly, the calves come back. Now you're
facing Boston, who essentially, Colin, for the last two months, they were playing like the
96 Bulls. That's how good they were. The numbers say that this is the best,
team in the league by a mile.
538, which does all these advanced stats,
say Boston wins this series handily
against Brooklyn. Now, a lot of people
say you can't bet against Kevin Durant.
I'm telling you, this is going to be a rough one for
Kyrie Irving and the Nets. I like Boston to win and
surprise everybody. Cannot wait for this one.
That's going to be a good one. Tomorrow's headlines
today, what's the headline for the player
whose legacy is the most impacted
in the playoffs? We should probably do a three
hour special on this guy one day. The
headline will be, Kyrie's
legacy falls off the face
of the flat earth.
Colin, we're talking. Listen,
Kyrie Irving is immensely talented.
We'll get that out of the way.
I know he's a great shooter,
playmaker, the fans love him.
Colin, Kyrie Irving has won a grand
total of two playoff series
without LeBron James.
That's it.
He's hurt every year in the playoffs.
He recruited Kevin Durant here.
The pressure is squarely on him,
and I just want to remind people,
the third best player on the Nets,
Ben Simmons, hasn't played a game in 11 months.
The fourth best player, Olympian, Joe Harris.
He's had surgery.
He's out for the season.
So this is a Nets team with not a lot of firepower if they lose to Boston.
Oh, boy, they're coming after Kyrie Irving.
And let's be realistic.
The reason they're in this predicament, because he refused to get vaccinated, they lose a ton of games.
KD. gets hurt.
And now the Nets are seven-seed.
They don't have home court advantage.
Colin, it's going to be rough for Kyrie Irving.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
What's the headline going to be for the winner of the NBA finals?
You know me.
I like to go out on limbs.
during NFL season, I take crazy NFL bets, and you're like, how the hell did that happen?
The headline will be, bam!
The heat defeat the suns.
The Miami Heat, I've got winning the NBA championship.
Colin, when you're betting futures in the NBA, you bet the path.
Look at what Miami has to go through in the east, right?
First round, they'll dust either the calves or Trey Young and the Hawks.
Second round, they're going to face the winner of Raptors Sixers.
Those two teams have no benches, and that's a tough series.
It's going to be a war.
Raptors will advance.
Miami's not going to have any.
problem with them. Miami's a very deep team
and then they get the Bucks and
Janice with home court advantage.
I'm going to remind everybody the last team
to beat Milwaukee in the postseason
was Miami Heat in the bubble.
Bam out of bio, Jimmy Butler,
Tyler Hero. I know Joy's going to like
this. I'm telling you, this Miami Heat team
is real. They're almost undervalued, Colin.
People aren't really talking about them. It's Brooklyn.
It's Boston. It's Janus.
I like Miami to win the NBA finals.
Finally,
Lakers parted way that was ways with Frank
Vogel, the coach.
Tomorrow's headline today,
headline for the Lakers next head coach.
Oh, boy.
Well, a lot of good names out there.
I'm going out of left field because that's what I do.
The headline will be.
LeBron's the star of Jackson's 5.
Give me Mark Jackson as the surprising new head coach of the Lakers.
I don't want to hear this Doc Rivers nonsense.
That is not happening.
The name they want is Quinn Snyder of Utah,
but we'll see.
He has another year left on his deal.
Is Utah just going to give away Quinn Snyder?
And then the, you know, the couple other names out there,
Juan Howard from Michigan, you know,
he's got the connection with LeBron from Miami.
I think Mark Jackson's been out of the league coaching
for about a decade now. Remember he was with
the Warriors. And LeBron's always
been one of these. I want to give guys a chance. Mark
Jackson has openly talked about. He's ready
to come back. He's had some interviews.
That's the name to watch. And
if anybody wants to gamble on it, keep an eye on
Mark Jackson as the Lakers next head coach.
The Miami Heat.
Listen, everybody's picking the suns. I see Joy
Pumping her fist. It's exciting time
from Miami. And if you look at Phoenix, Colin, I just wonder about that. That bracket is not
going to go great. You've got to go through Luca, obviously, he's going to be tough. And the Warriors
at that point will be at full strength with Draymond, Steph Curry. That's a tough series. I like
Miami to surprise everybody. You feel on this heat team, Spolstra? No. Jimmy Butler, no? Who's
their closer? Jimmy Butler? Jimmy Butler's not a closer. Look at his fourth quarter. His fourth quarter
stats have not been great this year. He's not a regular season guy. He's a playoff guy.
Tyler Hero's six man of the year,
Bam out of bio.
I mean, Kyle Lowry,
Lakers fans out here,
if we had Kyle Lowry,
we went on the championship last year.
Kyle Lowry's a clutch player,
played in Toronto, won a championship.
No, I don't know if I'd call him a clutch player.
Listen, they got guys who can make shots.
They get, I think, six guys averaging double figures and points.
Supposed to one of the best coaches in the league.
Listen, I was wrong several years ago.
Several years ago.
Okay.
Joy Taylor's taking over the show tomorrow.
Jason McIntyre. Check out his podcast, Straightfire with Jason McIntyre.
Nice job, Brian.
I'll see you on Monday.
Great weekend.
NBA playoffs, going to be absolutely fantastic.
Speak for yourself.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

84's big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
It was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
