Well, as America's honesty broker, I feel it's necessary to again say that I like the Boston Celtics. But I am not convinced in situational basketball against Miami or Denver that I don't trust them late.

And as I bring Chris Broussard in, Cahos's first thing's first, crushing it. That game last night, I'm not going to criticize teams for blowing leads because Denver Phoenix, the NBA now is a game of runs. Right. That's just what it. You can score 16 points. You can go to a 16 and 4 run. You get one guy that gets hot.

So I'm not going to blame them for losing a lead on the road. That doesn't bother me. But I do think 18 seconds, Jason Tatum's ball with a pick coming up, you watched it. That's not good enough. 7-inch height advantage. Don't I have a reason to be concerned when I've seen this over and over for five years? Absolutely. I mean, first of all, you're talking about the history. Certainly, like the reason they're putting up numbers.

They're the best offensive team we've ever seen as far as ratings. Defensively, they're second in the league. But why are people still hesitant about going all in on the Celtics? It's because of the history you just said. We've seen them fail time and time again. So until they do it, we're not going to believe in them. That's fine. But there were some things, and I'm with you, last night, one of 82, they won 11 straight, they were due for a loss, it happens.

But there were things you saw that are patterns for them that scare you if you're a Celtics fan. As you said, they struggle in close games. Now, they're winning games by an average of 11 points. So they're great blowing teams out. But when it's close, what you saw last night, that's one reason they're two and three in overtime. games, and four and five in games decided by three points or more. That's right. Jason Tatum, I love him.

I love him, but he's one of the worst clutch shooters this season. He's fourth worst in clutch field goal percentage in the league this season, 32% in clutch moments. He's a great shooter, 48% overall, but in clutch moments, he's not delivering. And they're interesting, Colin, in that they've said, you know what? We're going to shoot more threes than anybody. We're going to have five guys on the court at pretty much all times who can shoot the three and spread you out. And I think they're an interesting test case because it's kind of like baseball with the analytics and baseball. The analytics will work over the 162 on average, but you get into playoffs and the analytics aren't always what, you know, what they were in the regular season.

I wonder if the same could be true for Boston. going all in on these analytics. Let's just shoot more threes than everybody else. And it's working. But when you get into playoffs with a team that has a week to prepare for you, sees you every other day, and the defenders are better and all of this and that, then will the analytics still stack up and work for them? I think if they work, you're going to see a bunch of copycats around the week.

If it doesn't work, then I think people have to recalibrate. Yeah, I mean, they're looking at a small guard in Darius Garland. A small guard, not just a guard, and Tatum is a long athletic wing who can put the ball in the deck. And he's settled, instead of leaning in, no shot Garland's going to block that shot. He leaned away. That's psychology. That's above the shoulders. That's just not.

Austin Reeves is at half as long or athletic. He leans in on everything. SGA, by the way, a thin guy. He gets to the free throw line constantly. Some guys create contact. Tatum in that moment didn't. So I want to talk about Phoenix. So they have been not what I thought.

Now, some of it is nobody's ever healthy. But they beat Denver last night. Again, it was a game of wild swings. I don't, it's just, it's the NBA, there's 82 games. I don't take a ton. Durant beat you in overtime. He's great. Your takeaway, I thought Phoenix would be better.

J. Mack never bought into him. His takeaway is Beals never healthy. K.D. gets hurt. What is a disappointment? If they win two playoff series, losing the conference finals, are you satisfied? Because I don't think anybody matches up perfectly with Denver, but what are you looking for to make that KD move redeemable and defendable?

I think we're satisfied with a run to the conference finals now because we have been disappointed with them from what they did last year once KD got there and then what they've done this year. So expectations have been lowered. If you had said when KD was traded there or when they traded for Bradley Bill after that, they're going to get beaten the Western Conference Finals, we all would have said, oh my gosh, what a disappointment. It's championship robust for this team when they put it together.

But because they haven't been what we expected, now our expectations have lowered. But really, it still should be championship or bust, not finals or bust. They were in the finals a few years ago. Kevin Durant's won two championships. It should be championship robust and their problem, obviously the health. But let's just say if they could get healthy. They still have a problem in that they're the worst fourth quarter team in the league, in several metrics, which is an insult and an indictment on Frank Vogel,

the coach on Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, who are two of the greatest players in the league, and even Bradley Bill. Why can't they get it done in the fourth quarter? is they don't have a point guard. Now, you can look at Devin Booker averaging seven assists all you won, a 6.8, and Kevin Durand and Bradley Bill can give out some assists. That doesn't make you a point guard. They don't have the guy that in the fourth quarter, when every possession matters, that can get the ball to the right guy, that can get it to him in the right spot, that can settle everybody down, that can control the tempo. They don't have that. They just

got guys that can, yeah, they can dribble it up to court and make a good power. ass here or there, but they're not point guards. That's why they're bad in the fourth quarters, and that's a problem for them. So I said this, even though in the last two years the Lakers have played Denver 11 times and they've lost most, I find that the games look very similar, that the Lakers have the size and experience to go toe to toe with Denver. They just don't have four talented first round guys in their prime Yokic second rounder, but Jamal Murray, Porter, Gordon. These are first round talents. These are guys in their

prime. Yokech's second round are developed to the best player in the league. I can make an argument the Lakers only have one player, one elite player in their prime, and that's A.D., and he's an old 30 because of the injuries. And so, I think they're D-LOW away. If D-Low was a consistent 18-7

player, I think they could beat Denver, maybe in seven if they got some breaks. But I think the Lakers are funny. They won the in-season tournament because they're very good in one game situations. It's why they can match up with a Boston or Denver. I may not trust them in a series, but I do think they match up with Denver better than Golden State, better than Phoenix, better than Young O's KC, which doesn't rebound particularly well. I don't know, I have been

very not anti-laker, but pessimistic. But 80s healthy. Austin Reeves is a very nice contributing piece. LeBron's still an elite offensive player. I, I kind of buy them is facing Denver in the conference finals. What say you? Is that too optimistic? Yeah, I think it's too optimistic to say they're right there with Denver. Now, you're right, all these games that they lose, I think it's eight straight now, they do play them close, and then Denver controls the fourth quarter and wins a fairly close game.

That's what they did throughout that sweep last year. So I don't think they can beat Denver in a series. They just can't, all right? But what I do think is that they could potentially be anyone else in the West. Like, Denver's the only team definitively that's better than the Lakers in the West, even though the Lakers are the ninth seed. I mean, Phoenix, not that Phoenix couldn't beat them, but you're not scared of Phoenix.

You're not scared of Dallas. Sacramento, who's had their way with the Lakers recently, but still, you're not afraid of them because of the experience. KC is inexperienced. All right. Their future is bright, but they are too inexperienced. I would take the Lakers in the series over them. The Clippers, the Lakers have had their number recently,

the last couple of games after the Clippers owned them for a while. So I agree with you as far as being optimistic that the Lakers could make a deep playoff run, but I don't think they can beat Denver. I think the Nuggets are too good for the Lakers. I think they have to hope they avoid the nuggets and someone else, like the Clippers or some other team upsets Denver, and then they don't have to beat them to get to the finals. But I think there's a long shot for the Lakers to get to the finals,

but Denver's only team definitively better than them in the West. By the way, they match up. Lakers match out with OKC pretty well. Have you seen Wemby in person? Oh, very well. Have you seen Wemby in person? Yeah, Wiles Nick and myself went to a game, at the Guard, Madison Square Garden, a few months ago.

Not his best game. All right, so it wasn't really much to write home about. But I love when, Colin, we haven't seen anything like this. This guy is, this guy, I think, is going to dominate the league. It's all going to come down to, as far as where he ends up being ranked all time, is how much he wins. And you don't know what is, he looks like he's got the dog in him to me. Like he wants to shoot it.

He wants to play all the time. He works hard. Like I think he's got the right attitude. But you don't really know how someone's going to react in those huge moments until they get there. I never thought we see LeBron struggle like he did against Dallas in that finals in 2011. But that was the weight of all the pressure on him kind of coming to bear on him. So how will Wimby be when he gets to those huge moments with every. Everyone expected him to be awesome.

So that's what we have to see. But the tools, everything is there. I think this offseason, he just works on getting stronger. And I think next year he comes back definitely as a top 10 player in the league. Yeah, I don't think there's any question. Defensively, he already is. Brew, first things first after us. Obligatory Dallas Cowboys topic, they are picking up Micah Parsons' fifth year option, but doing it at the defensive end position.

not linebacker. The move saves the team some money. At linebacker, Parsons would earn 24 mil in his fifth year at defensive end. He'll make 21.3. That's a smart move. Do you think Michael Parsons is thrilled or it doesn't really matter? He'll be fine. 21 million in a state with no state tax, with reasonable housing, he'll be fine. Yeah. I mean, teams have a right to do that. Much to do about nothing, right? I don't think it. I mean, he's a, first of all, defensive ends get paid more eventually than linebackers. So if I was Micah, I'd rather be viewed as a defensive end than a linebacker.

You've paid more on the market. Yeah. Maybe one year you step back $3 million, you'll make far more money going forward. If he's upset, he'll just go complain about it on his podcast, right? Is that what the athletes do these days? That's a good idea. Maybe I should go... Complain about me? No, go talk to

him. I have a little podcast deal there. Maybe I should... Oh, I didn't know you had a podcast. Oh, wow. It's very popular. Just be among the kids. Next up, let's get to the best player in the NBA. Yes, Luca Donchitz. That is the player in the NBA, Colin. He posted a triple double for the fourth straight game. Fourth straight, 30-point tripped up. In 39, 10, and 11. But the Mavs freaking lost. Now, I did on my podcast. I went off a little bit on the MAPs. And, Colin, I'm starting, listen, man, they kind of

had figured it out there for a minute. They won like seven or eight or nine in a row. And now they're starting to regress a little. Yeah, because you know why? Don't blame it on Luca. No, you know why? Because we were down to the home stretch, and now you have to play defense. It's easy not to play defense in the first 60 games of this season. You get down to the final 20, 22, 23 regular season games. Have you watched, like last night, I'm watching NBA. This stuff is playoff basketball. These teams are syncing up their defensive rotations.

The coaches are coaching it like it's all seating now. So suddenly you've got to play defense. It's not just getting yours and Dallas comes back down to Earth. Yeah, he's also passing 11 assists and getting boards 10. Yeah, I understood. For some reason, they can't play the. Pacers. Pacer's beat them recently. Paces are pretty good. They're just an offensive team.

And Dallas, like you said, does that defense. They're an offensive team that Dallas won't commit to defense. So, Luca has 14 triple doubles this season. Oh, wow. Dallas 7 and seven in those games. Yeah, exactly. Ball sentries. Like James Hart. Oh, okay, so what do you want? What's the solution? Let's hear it. Well, the solution is

they coupled him with a guy that also needs the ball and doesn't play defense. So I've never taken Dallas as a championship team seriously. Okay, C's got a better future. Oh, please. Oh, I love their depth. Oh, wait, I'm sorry. You said a better future. Oh, I hope they play this year in the first round. I take OKC a 10 out of 10 times over Dallas over the next five years.

Oh, I think OKC is going to win a title. Well, that might be the case. They're not going to win a title. They'll win a title. Because I don't know if Luca will be there in five years. I'm not being honest. They've tried and tried and they screwed up Brunswick. Mark Cuban sold this team. So you're friendly with Cuban, right? I'm not, I know, Mark. I'm not friendly.

Let's get him on the show. If I emailed, oh, I would love to have him on the show. Hold his feet to the fire. Have you screwed this up? Have you screwed up? I mean, you basically... I'm going to ask Mark that. You screwed up, Mark.

You know how to be polite. He was a good owner. He... I don't love their front office architecture. I didn't love hiring the Nike guy. I just don't... I never bought this as a championship team. You have to defend.

Okay, let me give you some guys. They went to the conference finals two years ago. Let's not act like their shop-liver. Except Joel Embedon. So let me just throw this at you. I'm going to give you five of the greatest offensive players who decided that defense was an occasional

hobby. And you tell me about their careers. Okay. Carmelo. Hardin. Luca. You know who played defense? You know who played defense? Kobe, MJ, Duncan, LeBron. You've got to defend.

You've got to put an effort there. Luca and Kyrie together. That's terrible defensive players. Luca Donchich's defense is not why they gave up a buck 37. to the Pacers, okay? And please, never again put Carmelo's name in the same sentence as Luca Donci. Carmelo's a Hall of Famer.

I don't care. Everybody's a Hall of Famer in the NBA. Luca Donch is just leaps in bounds better than Carmelo went to it. And like Carmelo could score, but that's it. He's not elevating anyone else. Luca went to the conference finals with Jalen Brunson is his second best player. That's good. We found out that Jalen Brunson's excellent.

He's excellent. Carmelo, I don't even know if he was the best player on that Nuggets team that made the run to the conference final. A lot of people say Chauncey Billups. Well, Chauncey Billups was the lubricator of the team chemistry. Chonsie always, you know, he was a terrific player. Carmelo was the scorer. Mello in New York was a colossal disappointment. Well, it was a disappointment, yes.

But again, he and Hardin, you know, and I think Luca, I think Luca leads the league in usage rate. He's got the ball in his hands. That stuff. How do you build around Luca then? Just get a bunch of shooters? No, you get a rim protector. You've got to be good defensively. You get wings that are catch and shoot guys.

Doreen and Finney Smith, they sure could use him. Well, yeah. Get catch and shoot guys. Get guys that don't need the ball to score. Because Luca's going to have the bonus hand. Same with Hardin. Get guys who can catch it and shoot it. It's almost like how you build around LeBron James.

That's what Luca is. Similar size, passes. LeBron also gives you in his prime excellent defensive effort. LeBron also elevates every teammate he's ever have. Carmelo and Luca in Hart. Harden don't elevate all teammates. They elevate themselves. This game's got layers to it.

My perception, I've x-ray vision. Just to be correct, I love Luca and Jason Tatum. You dislike great people. I think Jason Tatum is in tight game, in-game situations. I don't trust him, though he is a great player. And Luca's going to end up being, unless he lowers his usage rate and gets the right teammates, he's going to end up being like Carmelo and Hardin. It's going to disappoint you in the post.

can already take, tell it's a take you're going to hammer me with constantly because you know it irks me to no end. I don't like it at all. Let's go to final story. You ever notice that you love guys who don't play defense and are gunners? Gosh, I play defense. It's an observation. The dug contest, which is, I don't even, who want, oh, Mac MacKong won the dunk contest this year. That's right. It's struggled. Let's be real. Mac McClug not even in the league. I think he's a G-leager. Anyways, Zion Williamson could be added to the dunk contest. He was asked this week if he would ever participate and he said if he's in the All-Star game

he will do the dunk contest so he'll dunk something besides donuts woo hot take that is a sick burn oh my gosh call the ambulance you know we've got a bad burn no I'd like to see him in the dunk contest

and he's not a good enough player to skip on it LeBron can skip it he's not well I mean he's not he's not he needs to do the dunk contest his brand has been injured been punctured he needs to do the dunk contest. A lot of these guys are just too big for it. Kauai Leonard doesn't need to do the dunk contest. Zach Levine doesn't need to do the dunk contest.

Luca doesn't need to do it. They're too big. K.D. Booker, they don't need to do a dunk contest. They're not dunkers. Zion. Now, I don't know. Would that get you to a TV? Well, I've watched Zion. Yeah, absolutely. I think the best dunker, Aunt Edwards is a good dunker. Zion's a good dunker. Who else is a good dunker? Ant and Zion are really good.

I think, like... I mean, who's somebody else that you'd be like, oh, great dunker? I would watch him. Zach Levine. Austin Reed? No, I was just kidding. Yeah, Zach Levine, but he's done with it. He's won the dunk contest.

Yeah, he's won it, but he wants, he needs a title. He's got hops. He does. Aaron Gordon, remember, he's an awesome dunker. But again, he's past that. It's almost like it's a young guy. Yonis, somebody said, Yonis is too big of a star. No, come on.

I think you're right. Zion Williams would get me to... You know what the dunk contest is like? It's like open mic night at the comedy store. John Mullaney's too big. You know what I mean? Chris Rock's too big. Well, they try out.

Dave Chappelle's too big. They try out new material. Well, that's what the dunk contest should be. Young guys trying out new material. But you can't bring the stuff. You know, open mic night. But the problem is young guys want to live it up at All Star Weekend, right? You want to go to All Star Weekend, hit the parties.

There's a lot of ladies there. You want to be living it up. You don't want to be dunking, especially if you're not in the All-Star weekend. star game. That's like, hey, what are you doing here? You're not in the game. I'm in a dunk contest. It just doesn't hit as well. You would know. J. Mack with the news.

According to someone on our hip, cool young staff, we have a very hip, staff. Keep that in mind

Base price of a Tesla model 3. is the Tesla Model 3 is not the truck? No. This is very tough. I would not have that. Is anybody excited about that? That's not great, right? I don't know how you can be all into that. You know how loud and ugly and raucous and negative it's going to be for next six months? Good thing we have sports to talk about as an escape from that nonsense. I mean, it is going to be the most cantankerous, ugliest, snarky, mean, it's going to be awful. But you should watch Fox News if you have a choice. You know, our owners on that.

So, I mean, you know, I don't know. I watched it for a while last night, and it was all sort of in good spirit. Everybody was kind of smiling as they were negative, but I thought this thing's going to turn. Smiling. Well, I mean, it's like you know by like September, October, November, and I voting in just November, it's going to get ugly. Thank goodness football season. Oh, my gosh. Oh.

What would I do without it? Yeah. God. So this will be the show during all that ugliness that you can come over, laugh, get a few college basketball betting tips. Yeah. Here updates on his wrecked. Is there a good game on tonight? There's some okay games, but I don't love the card.
