Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey, Jonas, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the ice.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Sliced Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hardway with your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games. This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing. How many men carry a suit or armor? It signals to the world that you're not to be played with.
Starting point is 00:01:58 And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to. Listen to learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on. A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman. Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me?
Starting point is 00:02:33 Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard Podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Find your local station for the herd at Fox SportsRedio.com or stream us live every day on the IHeart Radio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. We got good stuff. Three Super Bowl rings.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Twelve NFL seasons. Super Bowl MVP when they beat the Rams. Julian Edelman is joining us Sundays on Fox NFL kickoff, and he's got, of course, games with names, new episodes every Tuesday. So, J-Mack just brought this up. J-Mack's always perceptive. He's always looking to the future, even though he's a Jets fan, Julian. He said, he goes, Belichick.
Starting point is 00:03:30 Rumors are Jacksonville. Yeah. What if Bill calls you and says, Edelman, wide receiver coach, I'll pay a force 50 a year, no state tax. Would you go? Absolutely not. He hasn't even come on my podcast yet.
Starting point is 00:03:46 I mean, what's going on, Bill? Come on. No, but on a serious note, I will never, I don't love coaching. And you've got to love coaching to coach under Bill. I mean, I remember seeing coaches at 8 o'clock. after two hours of treatment, after the workday, put in more time as a player.
Starting point is 00:04:05 You go out in the players lot where we all park and you see the coaches meeting with their families seeing them for the first time in the day at 8 o'clock before they have night meetings. Like, I'm not living that life. And Bill does that because that's what Bill did when he was young. That's what the coaches above him made him do. So, you know, it's a grind.
Starting point is 00:04:24 You have to learn the grind if you're coaching with Coach Belichick. Now, you can completely change. I don't want him to say, like, don't speak for him or anything, but that's what I saw. Yeah, no, I get it. Like, it's, I have come to terms with how my daughter and my son view the world and how I viewed it. I would work 70-hour weeks. They're hard workers, but my daughter's like, I'll never work in a cubicle. I'm not doing that.
Starting point is 00:04:47 And I'm like, I get it. The world changes. Definitely. And I think work has changed and how people work has changed also, where people, I think, where people, I think, guys use their time more effectively. And sometimes when you're in those old school systems, I remember seeing coaches in there. I'm like, what are you guys even doing in here?
Starting point is 00:05:08 You know, you guys are coming up with NASCAR names for certain plays. Like, that's what they do. I mean, but like, you know, a lot more effective and efficient working these days, I think. Let's go with Drake May. J-Mack liked him more than I did out of college. He's got a little bit of a Justin Herbert comp, though not quite as polished as Justin was with all those college starts at Oregon. What are you hearing? What do you see and what do you like with him?
Starting point is 00:05:34 You know what? I'm really impressed with how Drake May has been playing these last few weeks and continually improving. I was a little skeptical at first. You know, with Drake, is he too young? Does he not have enough reps? Is he too raw? And he's gone in there and he's made plays without an offense align. and I think that's been huge because I didn't think he could do that and the fact that they don't have anyone on the offense line David Andrews is their number one offense alignment
Starting point is 00:06:07 he's on IR he's one against that thing going they got a bunch of journey guys and that's the toughest thing for a young quarterback to get comfortable is when there's people on your lap and he's been able to deliver throws with people on his lap and he's progressed with his pocket presence and he's improving each week and I love
Starting point is 00:06:24 you know I heard Brian Horner talking about it his attitude, and he's out back east and he hears a lot more on the camp. And he's a guy that's the runt of four athletes, all boys, his mom's the best athlete in the family, he says. Like, he's known what it's been to get his teeth kicked in, and he's always had to probably fight for the scraps at the dinner table. And that's how he plays. And that's what he's done each week.
Starting point is 00:06:51 He gets his teeth kicked in weekly. You know, he's getting hit a lot. and he's still making plays, and we're seeing a lot more progression with Drake May than we're seeing with Caleb Williams. Yeah. So you were in a lot of big games, and a lot of times in the media, we view it as winner and loser. Kansas City Buffalo play.
Starting point is 00:07:11 Let's start with Kansas City. Is there any upside to losing to a primary rival? 100%, especially with the win streak that they had going. And it's good for the people that are new to the team and the younger players that have haven't really been there for everything. I remember when people used to come to New England, they thought it was all sunshine and rainbows. We're going to win no matter what.
Starting point is 00:07:33 We got this. We have this guy. We have that guy. But they didn't realize that we knew how hard it was to win in the National Football League. I guarantee Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones, Kelsey, they all know how important it, how hard it is to win this league. A lot of these new guys that come in here that think you could just slop it out there on the field, this is a recalibration for those guys. Like, hey, we're not invincible. You know,
Starting point is 00:08:02 we don't play our best game. There's a lot of good teams out here. Not a lot, but there's good teams that can beat us. So I think it's great to recalibrate the newer guys, the younger guys, to get them back to the standard. I'm sure, Patrick, and all the studs on the team hold throughout the year. How about for Buffalo? Now, they, it's funny, this is, not like Lamar against the Steelers. Buffalo beats Kansas and just not in January. Yeah. I think it's huge for them as well because you still have to remind yourself that they're beatable. You know, this isn't the playoffs. It can go completely different from here on out. Yeah. But it's still, it's great for the guys that, you know, Buffalo's been beat down a lot
Starting point is 00:08:46 over the years in important games and that could be tough and you can lose your confidence. and to go in and beat a team like the Kansas City Chiefs, who are the champs, two-time defending champs, a team that you struggle with, it doesn't matter when it is. If you can beat them, that's going to be a confidence booster for your team going forward, saying, hey, guys, this is what we preach this whole week.
Starting point is 00:09:09 We did it. We executed it. We executed our game plan, and look what it did. It put us in our best opportunity to go out and beat the champs. Now, if we continue this, we don't read the newspaper clippings, and we continue this, that's how we're going to have a chance to win the Super Bowl. So I think this is a great learning tool for them. So I'm going to throw something at you.
Starting point is 00:09:29 This is a long-winded question, but old-school coaches, sometimes as they grow, they still hold us onto some old-school stuff. So Belichick during COVID, he said, this is stupid. And he just kind of punted the season. Harbaugh did in college at Michigan. He just said, this is stupid. Guys like Bruce Ariens. No, I'm playing my starters in the preseason.
Starting point is 00:09:51 A lot of guys bail. No, I'm going to do that. Andy Reid will do that. So Mike Tomlin is unbeatable as a Monday night football coach, and he's great as a Sunday coach. He's abysmal as a Thursday coach, and I'm going to throw this at you. He's old school. He's like, listen, we're built on physicality, brutality, and I demand a lot for my guys. If you're taking away three days of rest, I'm not changing my identity for one thing.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Thursday game every two years. If we win, we win, I don't care, I'm punting it. It's useless. You don't have to go 17 and 0 in this league. We go in 12 games win the division. Is that they're so bad on Thursday. They're unbeatable. So when he gives his physical identity an extra
Starting point is 00:10:37 day rest, you're toast. On Sunday they kick your butt. My theory is Tomlin's old school, he's like, I'm not changing my protocol for some streaming game. Yeah. How were they that bad on Thursday? Well, I'll tell you right now, old school's not that.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Old school is we'll go anywhere, any place, any time, and we'll play your team. I guarantee that's probably what he preaches. But I think this all stems too. They've never been a fundamentally sound offense of team with Tomlin there. I mean, they got the back end of Big Ben when the offense was still unshaking. They had pick it. And then they had this. It's a lot of big plays.
Starting point is 00:11:21 A lot of big plays, but not like an execution style offense. They've never been that. Okay. So when we would approach a Thursday night game, we would always lean on the plays that we executed the best, no matter what. Could have been the most vanilla thing ever. We were going to simplify the game plan because there's no practice reps, but you're going to do plays that your guys, like, understand the best and execute the best.
Starting point is 00:11:47 And that's what we would do on our Thursday night games. I mean, I don't think I lost a Thursday night game because we were so fundamentally sound as an offense. And we were a smart football team that understood what we had to do to win this short week and this game and get out healthy. Did you like them Thursday games? You know, it's a love-hate thing. It's very tough when you get older to recover and get out there
Starting point is 00:12:15 and play at your highest level. But then you do get the baby by week at the end, so it is nice to have that. But, you know, everyone deals with it, so you have to do it. But I would say, you know, that goes back to the Steelers. They've never been like a high execution offense. You look at a lot of these teams when they go and play this Thursday night game, they're just put, they're calling plays that they know they can execute. There's no new wrinkle.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Let's just, I remember we would run Hoss Z-Juke, which was empty, because that was our fundamental play that it was the first install of empty that we ever played and we knew how to get open on every single coverage with that play like against the jets and they were always sloppy games but you did what you had to do to have more points at the end of the game than the other team and that's what you were most comfortable with executing if you won a thursday game would bellichick ever go extra day off well by the end with the cb a you know that you had to have a certain amount of days off in a row But, yeah, you know, we always, I don't think I ever lost one.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Wow. In 17, I think they may have lost. I was on ACL, but we always had them early in our year. I feel like we played the Jets lot. We played Pittsburgh a couple times, so we're for that reason. And it's like Pittsburgh doesn't play no slop-in-the-park team when they're playing Thursday night. They're playing a division rival, which those are tough. You know, so, you know, yeah, just got to go with what you're comfortable with and you execute the best.
Starting point is 00:13:49 By the way, it's week 12. And I remember Trent Dillfer saying, dude, I'm a quarterback. And by week four, everything hurts. Take me to week 12, Julian Edelman. Yeah. Okay. You are playing in a Thursday night off a Sunday game. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Do you wake up this morning sore? What age? Okay, okay. 2930. 2930, you're achy. You're definitely achy. You wake up today, a little achy. But you...
Starting point is 00:14:22 Ibuprofen? What do you do? No, you do a lot of active recovery week all week. So the job of yours as an athlete on a Thursday night game is like NASCAR. You've got to do everything to do you got to get your car running best that week. So, you know, you're putting more time with treatment, more physical therapy, more your prehab, more of your conditioning, you're doing all those things because you're not going to have physical reps of practice to get yourself ready. So yeah, it was definitely,
Starting point is 00:14:52 you know, you were definitely sore. But this is the time, week 12 is the year, the time of the year where you would get banged up without a doubt, six to eight, week six to eight. If you got out clean the first four or five, there's always like a low period where the excitement of the New Year's kind of gone and the grind of the real season starting to hit you and you're getting tired and you're sore and the clock's changed and it's darker and you're at work. You don't see light so it does get like to a grime period. But then this week 12 starting soon, this is like the pasteurization period of when you milk a cow when you're trying to get the cream cream seasons after Thanksgiving. That sounds like a Belichick story. That's my story. I was call it that baby.
Starting point is 00:15:38 but this is the time of year where you're going to start to see guys separate when you play in the division and guys are starting to know what their team is and everything's about putting the tools on the belt for the dance, the playoffs. And this is when, yeah, you were bumped up and you were sore, but there was light at the end of the tunnel
Starting point is 00:15:58 and that light was the playoffs. That light was the seating. That light was, you know, how the health of the team is. We're getting healthy. That's what the light is. at the end of the year. And you start seeing that week 12, week 13, week 14, you're in it.
Starting point is 00:16:13 And this is what we are. And now we better not lose a game because we want to play our best football at the end of the year. That was good. One more herd? The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week within the IHeard radio app. Search Herd to listen live or on demand whenever you'd like. Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers. And guess what?
Starting point is 00:16:32 We have some big news. What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it.
Starting point is 00:16:42 We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers.
Starting point is 00:17:05 This is how you guys remember it going down. Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:17:25 or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game.
Starting point is 00:18:32 This morning, the internet lost its month. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. Starting point is 00:19:19 and the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis. And I know firsthand because I competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs' tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening. at Roland Garris. Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on Clay. Jen she won. I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Listen, Lena Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now, and I actually can win on any surface, because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. The pasteurization of the NFL. That's part of the time of the cream's rising to the top.
Starting point is 00:20:15 Absolutely. I got it. It's not cream season yet. It's not cream season. For all you, the milkheads out there, let's get in the comment section. And let's see what we are we doing this wrong? I want to know the explanation and the analogy. Somebody go to a dairy Reddit board and get me something on this because I thought that was one of the smartest things ever drop.
Starting point is 00:20:33 on the show. Well, cream seasons after Thanksgiving. That's the cream. Rise is to the top, baby. That's the pumpkin spice at Starbucks thing. Okay. Games with names. Who's your latest? We just did Jim Craig from 1980s Olympics goalie Miracle on Ice. We did Danny DeVito. We got dudes on dudes with Grunk. Every Tuesday, that's fun. We're starting to get that going. It's been fun. Except we, you know, freaking, I'd go
Starting point is 00:21:01 coach for Bill if you came on my damn podcast. Would you for one year? No, absolutely. Be a grader system. He can't pay me enough. It'd have to be seven figures at least. Come on. Minimum.
Starting point is 00:21:12 For coach? Geez, I lived that life, 12 years. Yeah. Twelve years. That's a long... As a player. Coaches get it even worse. You've got a social life now and a young daughter.
Starting point is 00:21:22 Yes. You've got a life. Trying to. I'm saying yes to things I didn't know. I could say yes to. Not accustomed since eighth grade. You just said no the whole time. Anytime it was September to, you know, December of February, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:36 I mean, since you're a kid, you have football season. Yeah, yes is a great word. It is. Margarita tonight? Yeah. It's a great word. In moderation, yes is a great word. Great to see anybody. Great to see you guys.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Jay Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. All right, let's get started with the Chicago Bears, Colin. Oh, my goodness. They lost their fourth straight on Sunday, but the offense did show, of life. In Hermosi, Thomas Brown brought a more balanced approach. Caleb Williams led two
Starting point is 00:22:07 touchdown drive of 11 plus plays. Pretty impressive. Caleb encouraged how things went last week. I think it started in practice with the reps. I think it started with him stringing things together and doing a good job with that and getting everybody into a rhythm and not necessarily thinking of what's next or anything like that. We kind of had an idea of what's next. And you know from there you just you go out there you play and you play efficient football and it gives you the best chance to win all of these small things um details of routes details of um you know the blocking details of the the path of running backs and um how we're going to do things I think um I think that led into all of what happened last week I think it's fun I think he's
Starting point is 00:22:57 getting there I think slowly but sure I mean Greg Cosell said an hour ago, this kid is really, really a power thrower. I mean, Greg Kosell could have easily said it doesn't work. He's telling you, when you watch him last week and he's moving around, he's got a Herbert power on.
Starting point is 00:23:14 Like some guys are finesse and they have touch. This kid can crank it. That's why I'm surprised you didn't go Caleb over Bowenix. I know you punted. But right now, the one that really worries me is Jordan Love. So I can't wait to watch this weekend. I think he's really good.
Starting point is 00:23:30 he is he is not an anticipatory thrower when you watch him see it throw it that can lead to interceptions because that half tick is a pick so I like him but I think he has to develop more into an anticipatory thrower that was Aaron in his prime that was Brady that's Mahomes is a great anticipatory throw what do you anticipate for Caleb against his Brian Flores blitz happy defense this weekend in Chicago is his place in five material or no it's under consideration. By the way, Edelman was 9-0 on Thursday Night Football. Not bad.
Starting point is 00:24:10 Next story is, oh gosh, Pittsburgh Steelers. Do we have to keep talking about them, Colin? Goodness. They got a big game tonight, obviously. But Justin Fields, did you notice this? He played three snaps last week, rushed for 17 yards. With Russell Wilson's success, Fields most likely will not get a lot of snaps under center. But Smith, Arthur Smith, that is, dispelled the idea that he's a gadget guy,
Starting point is 00:24:31 adding he still views Fields as a premium starter in the NFL. Justin Fields was four and two with Pittsburgh. There's a better storyline for tonight. I know you're all in. He's a premier athlete. I don't think he's a premier quarterback. He's a premier athlete who can be a spot starter. I think he's a, I think that.
Starting point is 00:24:55 I don't think I would build around him. Here's the question. He's early in his career. Well, not really. Mayfield took a few years to become a starter. Sam Darnold took a few years. Very quickly, in a tough division, got the Browns to a playoff and a win. Baker's gotten two teams, two conferences to playoffs.
Starting point is 00:25:11 So that's different. I mean, you say, well, he's still a kid. If you get four years to run a franchise, you're out of the kid category. Anthony Richardson's still a kid. Four years of bad coaching. Well, at four years, good or bad coach. Was Baker getting great coaching with Freddie Kitchens? No.
Starting point is 00:25:28 I'm going to go ahead and guess no. I mean, he had Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry. And stacked team. But nevertheless, me and O'Don. I'm just saying. So tonight, the best story would be the Browns win outright. Justin Fields maybe plays a few steps where Russell Wilson struggles in the weather, the lake effect wins.
Starting point is 00:25:43 And now we have maybe a quarterback controversy. You would agree that's, is there no chance at a controversy? We don't have a quarterback controversy. Not yet, but we need a Steelers' Pitch to get there. Pittsburgh hasn't lost a game. There's no controversy. Not yet. Russell is QB1 for the rest of the season.
Starting point is 00:25:58 It's not even a controversy. See, there's a dude, they put him in last week and he slid too early on the one thing they wanted him to do. Russell's fourth quarter passer rating has been money. Oh, yeah, here we go. Go Browns. Oh, he's not as cool as you like. We'll wrap up in the NBA where my Knicks, led by Jalen Brunson and Kat went off in the desert against the Suns. Cat and Brunson combined for 70.
Starting point is 00:26:23 New York's won, four straight, all five starters and double figures. keep an eye on the Knicks, Colin. Now, I should add, Kevin Durant did not play. Bradley Beale did not play. And the Sons don't play any defense. But listen, the Knicks, so they played eight guys really in the first half. Five of them were new to the team, right? The top three guys off the bench, it's going to take some time.
Starting point is 00:26:44 But once this team starts cooking, look out. Has there been an NBA game in the regular season last 10 years where every starter played? I mean, seriously, you just said, well, this guy didn't play, and that guy didn't play. Maybe that's the problem. That's why their ratings seven-year been a slide. Oh, yeah, who cares? Do you care? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Why? It just matters. Okay. Yeah, apparently the fans don't care. They're not watching. Everything is on fire. WNBA ratings up, baseball ratings through the route, NFL up, college football up, Formula One up. Wait a minute, hold on.
Starting point is 00:27:20 I mean, if you really want to do this, Caitlin Clark ratings up. Rest of the league, eh. Look at the finals without kids. Caitlin Clark. They were like nothing special. They were special historically, if you look at WNB. Everything is doing this. NBA is doing that. Well, baseball postseason was up.
Starting point is 00:27:37 That's how we care about. We don't care about it. And if NBA regular season. Jake Paul, Mike Tyson exploded. Everything is doing this. A one-off boxing fight compared to a Sun's Knicks game in November. NBA's got some. It's not hate.
Starting point is 00:27:52 If you're being negative about the NBA, it's a great league. Would you have lunch with some hater this week? Huh? Who are you hanging out with now? So NBA haters? What's going on? You ditch me and now you're hanging out with some
Starting point is 00:28:03 NBA stinks. Ratings are down. I don't say NBA stinks. I watch it, but I look at data points. And when I see a business doing this in the ratings and everything else doing this. It's weird. The TV deal went like this.
Starting point is 00:28:16 I mean, they got like $77 billion from all these networks. Weird. If Amazon's broken two years, know why. Peacock, too. Hey. They are losing money on it.
Starting point is 00:28:29 That's why they got the NBA. Because the young people love the NBA. Okay. Wish a few more would have watched an actual TV NBA game. J-Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Herd Lie New.
Starting point is 00:28:43 Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the I-Hard Radio app. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast?
Starting point is 00:29:02 Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember.
Starting point is 00:29:16 I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names. of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say,
Starting point is 00:29:35 Hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
Starting point is 00:30:11 We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Starting point is 00:30:56 Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real.
Starting point is 00:31:20 From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered. SportsSlice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to SportsSlice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slices Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis. And I know firsthand because I competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening
Starting point is 00:31:55 at Roland Garris, every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on Clay. Jenchian win. I mean, she went down to three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lina Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now, and I actually can win on any surface, because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. It's our Big Ten Betts, Week 13. It's time for Big Betts. Colin and J-Mack make their favorite Big Ten Betts of the week. Okay, Indiana and Ohio State, I'm taking... the under 50 1.5 total points. The more you look at it, Ohio State missing their center.
Starting point is 00:33:00 They have the number one scoring defense in the country. Indiana, now, their schedule's been weak. Weather could be something, but they have the number seven scoring defense. I think Ohio State wants to control the ball, keep it on the ground, occasional pops over the top, but keep the ball away from Indiana. I'll take the under 51.5 total points. Damn, well, we're head to head. I've got the over 51.5 in this one.
Starting point is 00:33:26 Not a ton of confidence. I couldn't pick a side in this game. Like 13 is too big of a number. So I went with the over. My logic is I saw Ohio State give up big place to Oregon. And I do think Indiana, which played conservatively against Michigan, they can't do that again. That did not work against Michigan.
Starting point is 00:33:41 They didn't cover. They almost lost the damn game. So I think we see a lot of points here. I'll go, you know, Ohio State 30, Indiana 24, in a game where Indiana looks pretty good. good and gives a lot of thought for the committee. Hey, man, maybe they deserve to be in the top of all. Okay, I'm going to take Nebraska, Wisconsin at Nebraska, Huskers minus two and a half.
Starting point is 00:34:01 Wisconsin's getting bludgeoned. They face very good physical teams. Oregon, Iowa, Penn State. They're a bit beat up, and they're averaging 12 points a game during the three-game losing streak. Nebraska wins, they get a bowl game. They've lost, but they've lost to Indiana. Ohio State.
Starting point is 00:34:17 UCLA's playing well in USC. I think Nebraska wins by a field goal at home and gets into a bowl game. All right, I'm going to go with a couple dogs here to close out. The Minnesota gophers getting 11 at home against Penn State. Everybody's talking about Penn State. I don't know if they're good, Colin. I'll be honest. I know they're solid, but I don't know if they're like top five, top seven good in the country.
Starting point is 00:34:38 And I think Minnesota can ugly this up and keep it close. Give me Minnesota getting 11 against the Nittany Lions. I'm going to take UCLA at home plus four and a half against USC as an under dog. I think it's pretty tasty here. USC's lost four of five games. USC doesn't beat anybody big. Their games are all close. In UCLA, two of the last three
Starting point is 00:34:58 games has held opponents down. They had a bad one against Washington. I think it's a low-scoring 27-24 football game. I'm taking the four-and-a-half. I like that. And I will close out with Northwestern going back to the well. I went with them last week. They covered against
Starting point is 00:35:15 Ohio State. I think they covered 10 and a half against Michigan. Obviously, we love to But Michigan has the game next week against Ohio State. You know it's easy to overlook the Wildcats, even at home in Ann Arbor. I haven't checked the student schedule, but are the students going to be in Ann Arbor? Are they off for Thanksgiving break? That's something worth looking into. But nevertheless, Northwestern getting 10 and a half in Ann Arbor.
Starting point is 00:35:37 All right. Got to get back on my winning ways. It's been a great season in college football. This Saturday is going to be fun. By the way, Jerry Jones this morning on Radio in Dallas, on all the deep. Leon Sanders to the NFL chatter. I think we're way ahead of ourselves relative to when and if he decides to go into coaching in the NFL. And one of his greatest skills that he really brings to college is that he is almost has no peer as far as being a recruiter.
Starting point is 00:36:13 I mean, kids want to come play for him, and he has a way of selling that. And that is one skill, that recruiting skill, that is not a huge prerequisite for NFL coaches. And so one of his greatest values is in that area of putting the team together and in the sense of getting great talent to come and play for him there at Colorado. As if Jerry's saying he's a college coach, not a pro coach. Now, Jerry could be doing that to get a better deal on the Dion Sanders contract. What do you make of it? I don't like how he's doing this with Mike McCarthy still employed as his head coach.
Starting point is 00:36:59 It's just unseemly. Come on, Jerry. Unseemly. We got a coach. What are you guys talking about? We got a head coach. Mike McCarthy's going to get us done. We're going to get to the finish.
Starting point is 00:37:07 Just, oh, man. I don't know how I would operate and working in that building. Can you imagine if, you know, the guys on the fifth floor here every day we're doing radio interviews about what's going on at the network. That would, it's just such unnecessary. What if our bosses did public radio interviews and talked about our show all the time? Every day. Look, that's what's happening.
Starting point is 00:37:25 We don't see this in any other. Think of another NFL team that that's happening to. I will say this. The Colorado Buffalo signed a five-star quarterback today. I did see that. And there's like a picture of Shadur handing him the keys as if he's like handing off, hey, it's your car now. You know, pretty, pretty neat little social media thing.
Starting point is 00:37:46 Dionne and Colorado is a fun story. It's a fun story. I mean, that's all I care about. I mean, we always know Alabama, Ohio State, Texas is going to be good. I need more fun stories in college football. He can be positive, just like LeBron said. Less negativity, more positivity, Colin. Come on.
Starting point is 00:38:02 Boring. I like a good tire fire. Aater in the house. Okay, got you. I'm going to go to Cosm. I'm going to watch the Lakers at Orlando tonight. Why don't you put a couple dimes on that game? How about we bet right now?
Starting point is 00:38:16 Live TV. bet uh no thanks look at that guys all hat no cattle says the guy who refused to pick bo necks or Caleb williams well i shall i'm gonna put that off for a year a year i don't
Starting point is 00:38:30 i don't think it's fair to judge Caleb william we don't even know if we'll be doing a show together in a year from now possible i need an answer in a week bo necks or caleb williams let's go oh i thought you meant for the show a week boy you gotta get it jordan love jordan lover bo nix come on exhausting.
Starting point is 00:38:48 I need a break. Or a cocktail. Or a cigar. I got a box of those last night. As a gift. When you're nice to people, that's what happens. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
Starting point is 00:39:02 I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called. Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it.
Starting point is 00:39:11 We get to ask other people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked. questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and friends.
