Mike Tomlin got an A from the Steelers players, which puts him fifth. in player satisfaction among last season's head coaches.

And he calls players out and holds him accountable. He does, yeah. He's a tough coach. However, ownership did not mirror Tomlin's marks. Art Rooney received an F and was ranked 31st out of 32 owners in his willingness to invest in the facilities. No, they don't have nice enough recliners.

Shocker, billionaire, did not want to splurge and spend money to help the millionaire. He pays Tomlin a lot. Paid Minkett Fitzpatrick a lot. He's paid T.J. Watt a lot. How about he pays his coaches a lot? What's your beef? I pay people.

I'm for paying people. This whole facilities thing, I'm sorry. You're just going on. I just really gets me. You're just really getting a forked out. There. An owner gets an F. The Steelers haven't had a losing season in forever, and the owner gets an F.

The coach gets an A. The owner gets it out. Give me a break. You really think the Steelers, a failing grade. I didn't show up for Spanish class in high school, got a D. You're talking a Failing. Gray. You're going to give the Rooney's. Should we stop talking about the report card?

They draft and develop about as well as anybody not named the Packers. Except quarterbacks. Well, they did Big Ben. Okay, top ten pick and? Cordell Stewart was pretty good. Pretty good. He was solid, barely. Next up, Antonio Pierce, heading into his first full season,

his Rears head coach, did pretty well as the interim. They don't have a quarterback, though. The starting job is Aiden's, Aiden O'Connell's, to lose. according to Pierce. Well, he will. But they need a long-term solution. Yeah. I would hope whoever we draft, that's the route we go.

If that's who the start it becomes, you know. And again, I'll go back at least Aden or if somebody redrafts and we bring in. You don't want to put a band-aided that position. That's old. That's old. That's all. I think the Raiders, we've seen that enough in this organization. I mean, when...

What's wrong with that? Don't go 70s on me. Rain Man up here. Ken O'Brien was their guy. I don't know what the Raiders are going to do. There isn't a quarterback and free agency. It feels like... Yeah, there is. Kirk Cousins.

We don't know that he's leaving the Vikings. That's true. Okay, so let's say Kirk Cousin stays. And Fields goes elsewhere. And Russell Wilson goes elsewhere. Who you got? Bo Nix. Got to draft him.

Well, I would go... I would sooner go Pennix. O'Nicks. Moves much better than Pennix, and Bo Nix has 61 college starts. He is ready to play now. Dad was a coach. Bo Nix will walk in and you'll see what you get with Bo Nix. Like Brock Purdy, you will see within five games what you have.

Okay, let me just ask you an honest question. If I check your phone and contacts and I put in Nix, is he in there? Do you text him? No. No. You love this guy more than anybody. I don't. I just said.

You really like Bo Nix. No, I said he has 61 college starts. So, like, he's a, to me, he's a much better version of Kenny Pickett. You saw with Kenny Pickett by, like, start eight, this is kind of what he is. I don't think it's special. I don't know how special Bo Nix is, but he's a much more accurate thrower than Kenny Pickett. I think he... So if Knicks and Pennix are on the board, you're going Knicks over Pennix?

Well, I think I have to because of injuries, and I think Bo Nix moves much better, and I like the movement. It matters. It does. It's close. Final story. Anthony Richardson is rehabbing that. shoulder injury that ended his rookie season. Colt GM Chris Ballard was asked about Richardson's progress at the combine this week,

and he pointed to Andrew Luck's injury history as a reason they are being cautious this time around. He started throwing, he's on a rehab program. We're not going to, like, I mean, I live through the last one, okay, and I learned a lot of lessons living through the last one. So, you know, forgive me for being a little cautious. I know Anthony's made some statements that it's important. to be ahead of schedule. Well, you know, that's, we're here to pull the range to make sure we

don't get too far ahead of schedule and we're staying with whatever the doctors are telling us. So, but he's in good shape. He's throwing. He's got a good throwing program. Got good people working with him. So I'm encouraged about where he's at and where he's going and we'll go from there. He is definitely one of the more entertaining players to watch at that position. He is electric as an athlete. Electric. He looks like a he looks like an outside. He looks like an outside. He is He looks like a rush end. I mean, watch this kid. Let me guess.

You'd rather have him than Brock Purdy, right? I think he throws the ball better than I thought. No, he's a much better athlete than Brock Purdy. Well, nobody's denying that. I think he's pretty good. I think he's a pretty good player. I think he's a very interesting player. You know how you ranked your top 12 quarterbacks?

Yeah. I think we need to expand that next week because we're going to have some time. To 32. You need to rank all 32. No, but the audience doesn't want that. No, no, they do because Brock Purdy's out on the list and where's Anthony Richardson? And Jalen Hertz tumbled. Do you remember?

Remember? Last off season. Six quarterbacks that wouldn't take a call on. And Jalen Hertz might be seven. Now Hertz is not even in your top 12. Well, I said. How does that happen? It's, well, things happen, new information.

Yeah, 10 and one start, yeah. Jalen Hertz, without Shane Steichen, deteriorated badly. A lot of turnovers, not good from the pocket. You get new information. If I got a new flight plan, it said, fly around this massive lightning storm. Should I just fly into it and say, Well, four hours ago, the flight plan said go this way.

New information, new opinion. That's what grown-ups do. That's what adults do. Your buddy, Jared Goff, is fortunate that Ben Johnson stuck around. We don't want to see what Goff would look like without McVeigh or Ben Johnson. Very, very fortunate, huh? Yeah. Look at that.

J-Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Lye News. had to hold this guy. I got some big questions for James Jones Super Bowl champ, former Packer Wide receiver. He thought

he was just going to go on speak today and hit a couple of layups. What's going on all, man? Okay, so we've got to get into this thing, because I've been on this all day, and it's irritating me. Yeah. So I was always told the Packers treat their players very, very well. They do. They do. I'm not a big facility guy.

Now, Fox sold a big chunk of the company to another company, and they've put money into the facility. But they've also put money into people and games. There you go. I am much more about, this is a workplace. I come in, I have my coffee, I grind, I leave. I'm not really a facilities guy.

I appreciate it. And I've told him I appreciate it. But to me, I would rather, Kansas City pays the coach, the D.C., Chris Jones, Travis Kelsey, Patrick Mahomes, the GM, the facilities are average. Does that bother you? Well, I mean, the facilities are a big thing, right? Because it's a big thing in the National Football League. that every coach that I have been around says,

we want you to live in this building, study, ice tub, jacuzzi, we want you to live in here. If it's a place that is not up to par, you are trying to get out of there as fast as you can. I came from Green Bay, and I went to the Oakland Raiders in Alameda. Now, those were the worst facilities. Tell me.

I went to the Oakland Raiders in Alameda. I'm coming from Green Bay to where everything is plushed out, locker room is plushed out. Facilities are plushed out. You have everything you could possibly need. And I go to the Oakland Raiders and there's no kitchen. They're rolling in the stoves, cooking you some pancakes and waffles. If you're, they roll in lockers for the practice squad guys and all that. It's just facility wise and Alameda was was absolutely terrible. And I used to tell myself, if I wasn't a Bay Area boy, if I'm going somewhere as a free agent and I see these facilities, there's no way I'm coming here. You know what I mean?

Especially now, you might go to somewhere with bad facilities if you know a Patrick Mahomes is there and you're a receiver. That's different. But there's no way I'm coming here and I've been to New York or I've been to Green Bay or I've been to Chicago wherever and the facility is much more plushed out. There's no way I'm coming to this. Okay, but you make it in this league not on free agents. You basically make it on hiring a right coach, drafting a draft.

developing players. That's where you win. Free agents like 30% hit. Because if you get drafted to Alameda, you don't know no better. But it's interesting. So, I mean, the Steelers got an F, the Roonies. They haven't had losing seasons since whenever. Now, that's over the top. Yeah. A little. I mean, yes, that's over the top because it doesn't matter about the facilities if you are finding ways to win. By the way, here's your thing. Pittsburgh's always tough. Yeah. So my theory on this. best Calboys, Boogie. Raiders right now, too,

is, whew. Yeah, well, I heard they are. Yeah. But Cowboys been boogie. That franchise hasn't

shown up for a big primetime game in forever. True that. You baby, you have too much nice stuff. Even Niners facilities. The Niners' facilities is not what you think.

And by the way, okay, Niners' facility is not great. Great defense. Yep. Kansas City's facility's not great. Yeah. Maybe the best defense.

Pittsburgh facility's not great. Dogs. Always have a good defense. Isn't it fun? Year in and year out. So, but my takeaway is, well, I used to cover Tyson. He loved Johnny Toko's ringside gym. Dark, no air conditioning in Vegas in the summer. My takeaway is if your facilities are too bougie. I see where you're going. I see what you're going.

Oh, can I have another roast beef on rod? And that is very true. That is very true. Yeah, you know that you're going to get everything. You're walking in there and don't look grimy, you know. We were a finesse team. That's the only reason why I'm saying that. In Green Bay, we never were a team that walked on the field and was like,

oh, they're going to punch you in the mouth real physical. We never were that. Now, we would win a lot, but we never were that just real grimy physical team. You could be on to some. You could be on to some. I always say, if you raise your kids with crown molding and granite countertops, it's the end of aspiration. Yeah, the only thing with you is you just better hope you draft well,

because you're not getting no free. Well, I mean, and by the way, that's what all, the downfall of the New England dynasty is they stopped drafting well. The down, I mean, that's kind of it. They just didn't draft as well. The other thing about this, so, all right, I'll get a lot. off this time. I'm paralyzed by this. So McColl Hardman, and I said, you don't have to be a great

player to have great access. McCall Hardman, he goes to the Chiefs, and he's a Parker, and he runs a real tough. No doubt. He's a little inconsistent. They ship into New York. Doesn't work. They bring him back because they like something. And he says, man, I've been on winners and I've been on the Jets. You guys in New York aren't doing it the way they're doing it.

And everybody's crushing McColl. And my take is most players do keep this stuff out of the public. You don't kind of trash. But you went to the Packers Raiders. Greg Jennings went Packers' Dolphins. Packers, Vikings. And Dolphins, yeah. And, I mean, T.J. Husmanzano went Bengals Ravens.

And he's told me stories, oh, I knew the minute I walked into the locker room. McCall Hardman has a point here, does he not? You hang out with that facility and that team or those coaches. And the Jets, why shouldn't I believe him? Well, no doubt about it. And it's not even like it's a knock on the Jets. You're talking about a Hall of Fame coach in Andy Reed, who knows how it's supposed to look,

who knows how it's supposed to get done. When he was in Philadelphia, he won a lot of football games. Since he's been in Kansas City, he's been to multiple AFC championships and multiple Super Bowl. So, you know, I definitely understand where he's coming from when you're talking about a culture and how a coach is running stuff. When you're coming from a winning culture, I was coming from the Green Bay Packers to the Oakland Raiders,

When you're coming from a winning culture, things are done a certain way. When I first got to the Raiders, the practice schedule, it was unorganized, all of that. And I'm like, when I came in here with Coach Mike McCarthy, it was boom, boom, boom, boom. Everybody knew exactly where they were going, exactly what they were doing, exactly what needed to be done. And you knew that that was a championship culture. So if you're coming from Andy Reed and everybody's treated the same, and this is the way we do it, whether you're Patrick Mahomes, Whether you're Miko Harmon, whether you're MVS, whether you're Skymoor, this is how we're getting it done.

That is a culture. And certain coaches know how to bring that culture to an organization. And when you have that and you go to another organization, you're like, what is this? So I understand what he's trying to get to and what he's saying, because you're coming from a Hall of Fame coach that knows how it's done. And you're going to a coach in Robert Sala, who's really just gotten the job to be a head coach. a couple years to be a head coach to where he's still really trying to find his way and really, you know, identify really what the coach is going to be. By the way, you see there's a new book coming out with Aaron Rogers.

Is it? Ian O'Connor writes great books. It's called Out of the Darkness, I think it's called. No, it is, actually. Ian wrote a coach K book that's amazing, a Belichick book, a Jeter book. They go all the way back to his family. Bigger read. Oh, I can't wait for it.

I'll get it for sure. Because Aaron, I have this theory on here, and you know him well as your friend, is that Aaron pushes back on authority. His parents were very religious. He pushed back on religion. He pushes back on management. He pushes back on vaccines. He pushes back on media.

It used to be, if you did that, that was respected in America, like you were pushing back on authority. Now if you do that, you get banged on by the media. So where I respect Aaron is, Aaron doesn't take anybody's word for it. He's not always right, but he's not always right. willing to push back on power. Yeah. I love it. I'm ready to read it because, I mean, I know how I feel about Aaron.

Aaron is my brother. I love him. Do you know what? I'm sure it'll be some stuff in there that I did not know. And I'm interested to see. Ian O'Connor said he talked to a source in the NFL that did not like Aaron, but he said it was an executive. Because I've never met a player who didn't love him. I'm telling you.

I mean. Why is that? I will go to bat for Aaron Rogers all day, every day, any day of the week. Aaron Rogers is one of those guys to wear that if he is your brother and he trusts you and he's your brother, he'll do anything for you. He will ride for you till the wheels fall off. He will do anything for you. He's that type of friend and that type of man. What if you called him out? Would you be okay with that? Well, if I called him out, number one, I would tell him first. Yeah, that's not me. That is my brother. So I would never come on TV and say,

Aaron Rogers is this or Aaron Rogers is that. If it's something with Aaron Rogers that I disagree with, I will call Aaron Rogers. I will text Aaron Rogers, what you're doing? Why are you saying that? And we would have a conversation. I'm not the type of person to come on TV and just be like Aaron Rogers is this and that, especially when he's my brother.

He could come on TV and say JJ is this and that. You know what I mean? If that's his opinion, but if you're my brother, you're going to come to me and you're going to talk to me like a man and iron all that stuff out. That's just me. That's the type of relationship of me and Aaron. I like that. So Jordan Love extension

Can I just watch him play out his contract before I give him No, give him the money man Give him the money He's had nine good games Jordan Love If you turn the tape on And you watch the good games

And you watch the bad games It is going to be some plays From them bad games To where you're like Holy moly Right This dude can play the game of football I don't think the Packers

need to see anything else When it comes to Jordan Love Now everybody's got film on him. Make this guy to franchise quarterback. There's not a throw he cannot make. He's extremely smart. He got much more comfortable under coach the floor as the season went on. The roster is only going to get better under this young fella.

He is absolutely special. In my opinion, he has the most upside out of any of these quarterbacks that is up for contracts, free agents, whatever. He has the most upside. That's including Dak Prescott. That's including Brock Purdy. That's including any of these guys. He throws a better ball than that you think are good.

Jordan Love is that dude And I think he has shown the Packers Enough to make him a franchise quarterback For a long time I'm excited to see him in Greenback In the history of pro football If he's as good as he could potentially be It's never happened

Far of Rogers love That is that it doesn't happen ever I mean Peyton Manning to luck To the Packers Is about as good as you're going to get They want a third one I mean that is crazy It's crazy

Farve to Rogers 20 years to 21 years and you might have another guy that's going to play 15 years. When I watch him, I see more far than Rogers. I see a little more willingness to kind of let her rip. Yeah, we will never see another Rogers, man. When you talk about a guy that's able to take care of the football like Aaron did, but still be special and make these crazy throws.

Mahomes is a little bit like that. Yeah, you're always going to be able to argue Mahomes, but Aaron, I mean, I'm mad at him. I'll let you know that because I truly believe deep down in my heart. He's the greatest quarterback to ever play this game. And he left Greenville? But, no. But since he hasn't been to the Super Bowl multiple times or have multiple championships,

I really can't fight for him and argue for him when you talk about rings. But when you talk about that talent at that quarterback position, I will argue with anybody in any day, all day long, that he's the greatest to put them cleats on. He'll probably send you a text after that. No, I'm saying. It's very nice thing to say. James Jones.

She gets to stay in the heartland. Oh, she would ab-I mean, you talk about selling tickets. Caitlin Clark would sell WNBA tickets.

For the league, it would be amazing if she were out here in Los Angeles, which is a larger market, bigger TV numbers for the WNBA. Like, yeah, I'm sure the league would rather have her in L.A., but... Well, you may... Kansas City Chiefs and Packers get big numbers in the Midwest. Midwest, if you're... Ohio State and Michigan outright USC and TV ratings. Also true.

I mean, she's going to be successful wherever she goes. I talked about this on my podcast, but there is something happening in women's college basketball, Colin, where they're, like, embracing some of the trash talk and some of the gamesmanship and the swag in women's college basketball. Men's is not allowing it. Like, people are talking trash to Caitlin Clark. They block her shot and stare her down.

It's like, oh, okay. Well, first of all, a lot of the ratings are Caitlin Clark. Yes. But secondly, women don't do the transfer portal to the level of men. So you get the same women, same good teams, same players who will be pros year after year. Men's college, I mean, boxing's died in my lifetime. Boxing just died.

College basketball, men's college basketball is on life support. Between the one and done and transfer portal, I watch Duke. I know two of their players. Yeah. It's just, they've got a major problem. So this goes to parity, Colin. With the transfer portal, I mean, no number one seed. made the final four last year. No number two has made the final four. There's so many good players that they're spread out among the teams. You don't have dominant Duke, dominant UNC. I don't see. I mean, I still love the tournament. First couple of days

the tournament are magical television. But mobility is something we brag about and talk about how great it is. It's not necessarily great for TV ratings in a league. I think, you know, take out LeBron James. One guy in the NBA, take him out. Tell me

all the mobility in the NBA that's been good for the league. KD should have stayed in San Francisco. Well, for who? Well, I'm just saying on the Warriors. But for why shooting a state? Because they had the best team in the world. I agree. He did get injured. He was out. His career. His career is not the same. He was viewed as arguably one in one eight of LeBron. Now he's an older dude that's brittle. He made a mistake chasing Kyrie Irving and hanging out with him. Find me all the Kyrie Irving's movement, Hardin's movement. Find me all the moves that work.

James unhappy. Well, define me. First of all, let's define work. If it's just win a championship, well, it's a year. Well, LeBron James went to Cleveland title, went to Miami two titles.

Goes to the Lakers' titles. That's working. Yeah. Find me all the, the mobility thing, everybody's all, oh, I want to move. Find me where it works. Okay. Kaui Leonard goes from the Spurs to the Raptors

for one year. I've called that the luckiest championship in NBA history. The Warriors were all hurt. So there's one. And by the way, he got a title. I know it's a big deal. Then he left.

And it does matter because Toronto never won a title. I'm not diminishing that. But I mean, if he wouldn't have won the title, would it have been worth it? Well, yeah, but okay, but Carl Malone and John Stockton stuck around Utah forever. They didn't win a title. They got to the finals. They sold five games for 17 years. They were in the mix.

Never won a title. All right. So did that work? I think it did work. They didn't beat Jordan. So now the new barometer is getting to the finals. I like that. I'm with you.

I just want to be clear. Yeah, I just think this whole. Like mobility is, it sounds great. Now, I've moved for my career. You have moved. And that's fine. But a lot of people don't move and are very happy. And I think we talk about mobility all the time.

Man, there's a grass always greener thing. And you look in the NBA, just take LeBron out. Find me all the, he moved around and won everywhere. Dee Wade left Miami for an hour. Went to Chicago's like, get me out of here. I want to go back to Miami. I don't think mobility is all that. I don't.

It's not a bad take. It gets talked about. Now, Anthony Davis, there are some... Oh, AD, yes, there you go. There are some NBA city. New Orleans is a football town. And I... Oh, wait a minute.

He teamed up. But AD teamed up with LeBron. Kevin Love moved. teamed up with LeBron. Okay, I got a non-Lebron. It doesn't count if you're LeBron or team up with LeBron. Take LeBron as a player and an associate. Take LeBron the brand out.

Show me all the most. ability that works. Okay, here we go. Kevin Garnett said he was going to stay in Minnesota forever. It's like, fine, I'm going. Get me out of here to Boston. Goes to Boston with Ray Allen and Pierce. They win a title.

Yeah, that's good. And it worked, I would say, that was successful. And in that instance, not a great basketball operation to a legendary brand. That one I totally defend by KG and Ray Allen. Paugasol, I think he was just traded. He didn't technically move to join with COVID. He was traded. Yeah.

And the Lakers, by the way, pursued. Powell Gasol, he didn't necessarily want out. It's factual. And by the way, Kauai Leonard didn't want to leave. He didn't want to go to Toronto. He didn't want to go there. I mean, he's like, it's too cold here. He said it when he was winning. So I like, everybody sells

all this stuff. Karee, Hardin, they're all moving. Where's it work? Okay, but what if work is defined by, I'm having more fun playing with my friends in another city where I'm running the team as opposed to my last stop? There's got to be some value in that. Maybe you're

getting away from a coach you don't like or a teammate you don't like and Draymond Green. I can't kill these guys for not winning a title when they're moving. I'm not killing them. I'm saying this belief that you start asking players around the league, do you want to move your family? Kids, new school, wife, new friends, new house, sell this. It's not that fun. We'll see Tray Young this summer. We'll see what happens.

Trey Young is going to be a Laker. I'm just telling you right now. Donovan Mitchell, Nicks, Trey Young, Lakers, my guess. You just set the afternoon lineup for L.A. Radio. by saying Trey Young's going to be like him. He feels like L.A. He feels like L.A. LeBron will bring him down.

Defense, no good. But AD protects the rim, so you're fine there. Are you giving up Austin Reeves? Yes.

Yep. What you asked? I didn't. You didn't let me finish. But I'm giving up Rui Austin Reeves, yes. Well, Ruey, yes, but Austin Reeves, that's going to be a tough one to part with. For Donovan Mitchell, I probably would. I don't know if I would. And I like Trey Young. I do.

You'd probably give off Austin Reeves for Donovan Mitchell. In a pack. Yeah, yeah. I have to really, that's a tough one. I'm telling you, Austin Reeves, unselfish, amazing contract, does everything, doesn't need the spotlight, willing to take a back seat. You know what? It doesn't bother me if a guy wants a little.
