And I will be on speak later today on FS1 at 4.30 p.m. Eastern. Joining us in studio in 30, Mark Sanchez. We are approaching the postseason in the NFL. What does he think will happen? What's going to happen with Derek Carr? What's going with Russell Wilson? What's going to happen with the Cowboys? What's going to happen with the Jets? There's so much going on. It's been a very crazy upside-down week in the inside out. Yeah. What is it called? In-between?

in between the upside down, the inside out. We'll just keep adding all these weird names to the week between Christmas and New years where, again, if you don't work in sports or TV, you're probably at home with family and friends. You don't know what day it is. You don't know what time it is. As you should. Yes, enjoy it.

We've worked hard all year long and you deserve a week to do nothing and just become a part of the couch. And you deserve that. So I hope you're enjoying this time with your family and friends or doing nothing. thing, which is perfectly acceptable as well. And it's been a fun two days doing the show with you, Alex, and hang out with everyone, being back on the herd. Thanks for having me back. And like I said, I hope you'll join us later on speak. We had Dave Hellman in studio earlier today talking about the Cowboys. We'll get to Mark Sanchez at the bottom of the hour. But the latest news with Derek Carr is

that he's stepping away from the Raiders for the final two games of the season. But with Vegas still mathematically alive for the playoffs, the Raiders are clearly being untruthful with why they're really benching him. They are trying to pitch us that they're leaning into the young players. You're going to see what's going on with the young guys because the Raiders are a young team now, apparently.

I'm not buying any of this. Raiders fans shouldn't buy any of this. And I think it's time we just give the Raiders their due for being as dysfunctional of an organization as we have in the NFL. The Raiders brand is huge. It is historical. The fan base is wildly popular, very famous, have their antics.

And it's great. They have a beautiful new stadium in Las Vegas. One of my favorites, personally. I am a logistics nerd, so being able to walk across a pedestrian bridge into the stadium and walk out and get an Uber very quickly, I love it. Wonderful experience there at Allegiant in Las Vegas. All of that aside, what have the Raiders done that would give you any confidence that they are all the sudden now moving off of Derek Carr somehow going to get this right? Well, let's see. Let's take a look.

Let's take a look at their first round picks, right? A good team that has first round picks should have some of them in the last three years still on the roster, right? Hmm. Clean and Farrell, Josh Jacobs, fifth year option decline, fifth year option decline. Fifth year Decline. Jonathan Abram, cut, Damon Arnett, cut, Henry Ruggs, cut, Alex Leatherwood, cut. All right, so no help from the draft. So it should go well if they want to draft a player

to replace Derek Carr. Well, Josh McDaniels, he has a great resume of drafting quarterbacks, right? Who is that guy that he took? Tim Tebow. That inspires confidence. Josh McDaniels himself, what in his resume would make you think that he's capable of turning this around? Well, if he was the

offensive coordinator with Tom Brady as the quarterback, I'd feel great. Even if Tom Brady does come to the Raiders, which if I put my tinfoil hat on, maybe that's what they're up to here. We don't know if Tom Brady's going to retire. I certainly think he is. But even if Tom Brady was to come here, Josh McDaniels isn't the offensive coordinator. He's the head coach. So he still has to fix everything else.

Like perhaps the defense that's the worst in the league and has the least amount of sacks of any defense in the league. Maybe that has something to do with all these halftime leads that they blew. Now, look, I am not going to absolve Derek Carr for what happened with the Raiders this season. And by all accounts, they are very disappointing. This entire division has been mostly disappointing. I mean, the Chargers are now clinched in the playoffs. So they are progressing, thank God.

With a young emerging star quarterback, they have now gotten everybody healthy. The defense is playing well with the defensive head coach, and they're taking a step up. And, of course, the Chiefs are what the Chiefs always are. Broncos disaster. We'll get to them in a moment. But the Raiders are really disappointing. You brought Devante Adams here. You have stars on defense. You have some stars on the offensive side of the ball. You have a steady quarterback in Derek Carr.

You were in the playoffs last year. What happened? How did it all fall apart? Am I to believe that this is all Derek Carr's fault? The guy that has held this organization together? Through everything. I don't have time today. It would bore you for me to list the endless book of things that have happened since he's been there in his tenure with the Raiders.

We give Baker Mayfield this everlasting pass for all the coaches that he's had to deal with, all the turmoil that he went through in Cleveland. Der Carr's had six head coaches. Every year he has to reset into something new. I'm not going to give him a pass entirely on how he's played this year. He hasn't been great. It's been disappointing. I get it.

But what am I supposed to believe here, Raiders? you're just punting on the rest of the season. I get it. It's going to be very difficult for you to win these last two games and make the playoffs. It's virtually impossible. But you're saying it is impossible. We don't care.

We just want to move off of Derek Carr. And it's because we want to see the young players. We want to see what they can do. Is it that? Is it that Raiders? Or is it that you owe him $33 million next season if he happens to get hurt in these last two games? I'm going to guess it's the $33 million.

I'm going to guess it's that. If you want to move off of Derek Carr, fine. Maybe he's not good enough to get you over the edge. But here's what I caution the Raiders, because I have no faith that they're going to do the right thing and turn this around. Take a look at the Washington Commanders. I'm not the biggest fan of Kirk Cousins. I don't think Kirk Cousins is great. He's certainly having a nice season this season.

He's certainly proving a lot of doubters wrong this season. He's having a nice year. Nobody really knows how this is going to go for the Vikings, but we know Kirk Cousins is a franchise quarterback. How things look when you leave does matter. how things go when you leave a place does matter if you're the guy they've had 11 starting quarterbacks since kirk cousins has left for all that all we don't want to keep franchise tagging him we don't want to give him a long-term deal cool well now you're back to carson once again as you're trying to make the playoffs after you are moving off of taylor heineke so be careful what you wish for

when you want to jump on the quarterback carousel you better have a plan so if the plan is tom brady I'm interested. I'm interested in watching that. I'll see how that goes because it's Tom Brady, not because it's the Raiders, not because it's Josh McDaniels or anything else that's going on there. I think it's disrespectful to Derek Carr after everything that he's done. Maybe this is a cutthroat business and I'm being a bleeding heart. But when you've had not a whole lot to cheer about in the last few years and the one guy that's been able to hold this all together through everything that you've thrown at him, your answer is to sit him for the last two games of the season. I don't know. know. I think I'm going to stop taking you seriously when you say you have a plan. That's what I'm going to do for the Raiders. And I'm sorry to Raiders fans because they really deserve better. It's a great fan base and maybe they're frustrated with Derek Carr. Most of the Raiders fans that I've talked to are quite concerned about the future of the organization and I think that's fair at this point. So staying in division, let's talk about Russell Wilson. So Russell Wilson spoke to the media yesterday. Obviously, Nathaniel Hackett was fired, which was mostly expected. It was a disaster

for the Denver Broncos this season, considering the expectations, considering the trade, everything that they had the year before that was carried over, how the defenses played. It's been a dumpster fire. And Russell Wilson spoke about Nathaniel Hackett's firing yesterday. First of all, you know, obviously, you know, devastated by Coach Hackett because I think he's an amazing man, amazing teacher, amazing father just watching him with his kids and what he's been on to do and how he's taught the game for us. You know, this season has been a season that we never thought it was going to happen the way it did. The reality is that, you know, I wish I could have played better for him too, you know, I wish I could have played at the standard and the level that I've played, you know,

I've always played at and know how to play at. So, but what I do know is he's resilient. He's going to be a tremendous coach, like I said. and, you know, love him in death, and everybody misses them for sure. Now, Russ is going to say the right thing, because that's what Russ does. And that's expected. But there's no two ways about this. Russell Wilson got Nathaniel Hackett fired.

He did. His play got Nathaniel Hackett fired. So where did the Broncos go from here? Do they hire an experienced head coach? Do they bring in another young offensive upstart to try and fix Russell Wilson? I prefer that they bring in someone with experience because everything that's happened with the Broncos has been a disaster from top to bottom. I don't think it's a good idea to have somebody learning how to be a head coach on top of everything else that they're going to be responsible for in Denver. But to me, more than anything, this is on Russell Wilson.

It's time for Russell Wilson to step up to the accountability plate. we've heard time and time again from Seattle, from former teammates, from Shannon Sharp on Undisputed a few days ago, from Andrew Whitworth saying he heard it, other former players, that Russ is really out of touch with what his role, not just what the Broncos is, but in the NFL. Russell's a star because of what he's done on the football field. And it's now morphed into a consistent drumming. beat of he's not really aware of what he's doing and how his teammates are receiving him. We're in Hollywood. This happens all the time. It was one of my biggest fears, actually, when I moved to Los Angeles. I was terrified of being labeled as a diva.

I didn't want to be the person that, you know, people would say they shouldn't treat people well and, you know, it doesn't take care of the people around her. I didn't want to be that person because that's not who I am. But it's very easy to fall into a space where you're just in your own world. in your own bubble, you have your own things going on. People do this when they're not in Hollywood. It's understandable. But when someone's hells you,

hey, you know, you got to reel it back a little bit because not only are you doing this, you're not performing well. There's a thing called flops in the movie business, superstars. You have a couple of these bad movies. You do a couple of these bad scripts.

All of a sudden, are you really an A-lister? Are you really as good as we thought you were? Are you deserving of all these Maybelline commercials and things, red carpet appearances, talk shows? People start to question that. Whether it's fair or not, fairs are fierce wheels and fried Oreos.

It's not fair, but it is what it is. So if you're going to live in this celebrity space, which at this point, I feel Russ is in, you need to reel it back because what's made you this star is your performance on the football field. And here's what's happening now. Because Nathaniel Haggots been fired,

because the disaster that was the Denver Broncos happened, however much pressure, however much criticism, however many questions there are about what the Broncos are going to do with Russell Wilson and what's going to happen with his career, however bad that is now, if this continues on to next year, it's like your fifth flop.

And we're going to start reexamining everything else that Russ has done in his career. all those quotes from former teammates in Seattle and talks about how unaware he is that people are spiteful of his private office in the building and all of his parking spots, little things matter when you're losing. I just think if this is going to work, it's all on Russell Wilson. That's not fair, but that's what happens when you trade five draft picks and pay someone a five-year $245 million contract. There's an exchange here.

He's not volunteering. You're getting compensated, and they gave up a lot. They've mortgaged the entire future of the organization on Russell Wilson. So there's really no more space for any of the separation that has happened this year between Russ and the teammates, Russ and the team, Russ's image and brands and all that stuff. All that's got to be shelves. We talk about this all the time with young quarterbacks. Don't get too consumed in getting a brand.

Your brands will build on its own and mostly through winning and great play. And it will last because you're really good and people like to watch you play football. So then they will buy things that you sell and then they will go to your appearances. All of that comes in time. I'm all for people making money. I'm interested in making money for what I do for a living. I certainly don't discourage anyone else to do that. But you also have to be aware of what that brand looks like when you're losing

and costing other people jobs and other people the opportunity to make money. Nathaniel Hackett deserves his share of the blame in this situation, and I don't think it was the wrong choice to fire him. But next year, it's going to be all on Russell Wilson, and he's actually going to have to be all in. But first, let's get to Alex Carrey with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. We're going to dive into some NFL games in all three of these herd line stories, all right? Perfect. So let's start with a big matchup between playoff team Sunday with the bills taking on the Bengals. And both teams are looking to improve their position to secure a first round by.

Now, Buffalo is currently the number one seat, and Alan will look to carry the load. Bengals coach, Jack Taylor, is well aware, and here's how he's game planning for Sunday. He's a great quarterback. You know, we've seen him all year on the offense side of the ball because of a crossover tape with that division. And just them playing our opponents, our division, us playing their division, we probably crossed over the Buffalo seven or eight times this year. And so we've gotten a full dose of what he does. Really exciting player extends plays. the play's never dead. All hands on deck when you're trying to crawl him in the pocket and having

a cover downfield and brings an element to the quarterback run game. You know, that can be a challenge as well. So there's a lot of things that they do offensively that you've got to prepare for and be ready for. This is going to be an exciting one. And this is the first matchup between Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, which is a little surprising. I shocked me a little bit because you would think two of the top quarterbacks, two of the next generation. We've been talking a lot about that next generation, right? These are the top two guys that everyone's talking about. The next the next superstars that are coming into their own. This is going to be a great matchup. Well, it's important also because they would like to have the top seed.

That's very important. So it's exciting that the game actually matters and they're playing for something as well. I also think it'll be a good gauge where both of them are right now. The Bengals struggled early and have definitely gotten back on track. Joe Burroughs and the MVP conversation. The Bills started strong, and then had a little stretch there. And now there's still some questions about how their offense is going to perform at the highest level up against these great teams. So an amazing game to have on Monday night as we're heading into the end of the season

and into the playoffs. And yeah, this is the future of the NFL. So hopefully we'll get lots of more of these matchups between Burrow and Josh Allen. And these are two guys that everyone's, obviously Josh Allen, everyone expects and has been talking about should be in a Super Bowl. Joe Burrow was just in a Super Bowl last season. both first round picks. Earlier this year.

It's going to be fun. Oh, yeah. Earlier this year. You can say that for another couple of days here. Okay. Well, let's move on because the lions are coming off a bad loss to the Panthers in week 16. But an intimacy wild card spot is still within reach. Now head coach, Dan Campbell, wants the team to recalibrate ahead of Sunday's matchup with the bears.

And Jared Goff is echoing that statement and said, we need to recalibrate and respond and find ways to get better and improve and beat Chicago. The adversity we've been to be. through this year is much greater than one loss. We're treating them like any other team. I don't care who it is. We were a team like that last year and we felt like we could

be anybody. They feel the same way. So yeah, show up and get ready. Now the Lions started the season 1 and 6. They've won 6 of their last eight games. That's a dangerous team. This is where you want to be sitting right now. But, you know, the playoffs scenario, they have to beat the Bears and the

Packers. So it's, no. They have to beat the Bears and the Packers. Yes. And then they need the commanders and the Seahawks each to lose one game. So there's a lot. There's a lot. It's a stretch.

They are not completely in control of their playoff future. But what they can control is winning these next two games. It was a bad week for them last week. Yeah. I think that the Lions are a very dangerous team. And I would not want to play the Lions if they find a way into the postseason because of what you just read. They are a team that completely believes they

can beat anyone. Now, I am aware you need more than to just believe that you can beat somebody. But they've also won six of their last eight games. That shows it too. That part. The problem is you've got to be able to stop someone on the other end. Yeah. That's what matters. The offense really has not been an issue all season long. Jared Goff has had a great season. They have weapons. They can put up points? That's what makes them scary. Can they stop anyone? And they've got to start their potential postseason run by winning these next two games. They have it, they have what it takes, fully capable, so do what you need to do and let the rest fall where it may. I mean, this is why you have to be good all season long, so there should not in a situation where you're depending

on other people to get into the postseason. But whatever happens with the Lions, they should feel good on what they've built this year. Exactly. I mean, I don't think you should get out of control if they don't make the postseason. Like, you do need to be making the postseason. That is the progression of a team that's getting better. They are getting better, but it's one thing to go on a run during the regular season. It's another thing to make the season. So I'm interested to see how they play these next two weeks. Yeah. I think it'll be, you know, whatever happens, if they win their next two games, they should hang their hat on that because they did what they needed to do at the end of the season. Turned it around. To make it.

And, you know, went on a great run. Whatever the football gods decide that's out of your control is what it is. Yeah. Still got a chance. Yeah. Which is what you want in your last two games this season. Well, you'd like to clinch and be in the playoffs. But if you're not clinched. Obviously, yes. That's a case scenario. Yes. Well, let's talk about the game tonight. Shall we? The Cowboys and the Titans are set to face off Thursday night football. The Cowboys have already secured a playoff spot, but need to avoid a loss to keep their division title hopes going. Now, on the other side of the ball, the Titans are looking ahead to their week 18 matchup with the Jaguars that will decide the AFC South. So they have a number of starters out with Malik Willis being benched in favor of Josh Dobbs and Derek Henry listed as doubtful. Now Fox Bet makes the Cowboys a 13 and a half point favorite at the Titans tonight. Things are shaping up pretty nicely here for the Cowboys. Out for the Titans, obviously Ryan Tannehill, Malik Willis, Bud DePree, Jeffrey Simmons, Derek Henry.

Like, their main core of guys are not going to be out there on the field. Well, Tony Pollard's not going to play tonight, I believe. So he's out. Yeah, he's not, he hasn't practiced all week. Tony Pollard is out tonight for the Cowboys. Now, they still have Ezekiel Elliott, so obviously they're still in good shape. Yeah, I mean, This is a good game for the Cowboys to go out and play a nice clean game.

And win a game. Win a game. Win this. Obviously, they're still in the playoffs no matter how this goes. But with everything that the Titans have missing and they're gearing up for their early playoff game next week. Yeah. Should be a nice, easy convincing win. Should be.

Mark Sanchez was a part of my brother's, well, my favorite year of my brother's career. Awesome. I can't speak for my brother and say that. 2010? It was mine, yes. Yeah, it was a great year. Did I tell you the story about him doing garage sales? Yeah. You've told me the story, but you can tell the audience. Share it. Come on. My brother is Jason Taylor, by the way. way if you don't know. Yeah.

Make sure we're clear here. I mean, it's the only reason I have this job, so I should always remind people. One of the coolest dudes I've ever met was, you know, you're like, not terrified of guys like that, but you're just like, damn, dude, that's like, freaking Jason. See it intimidating? Well, I mean, because you see his size and stature, and then I've watched him play for so long and then he's like in the locker room with you. And so you got to like keep it cool, but try not to get all starstruck.

He had this Jordan deal and we have the same size foot, believe it or not. And I was fired up because he's like got boxes stacked as tall as he is. And he would just say like garage sale, who's a 14 or 13 and a half, you know? And like you could go pick out shoes. And I was like, is this guy serious? This is the coolest dude I've ever met. So we get free Jordan turfs and like all the gear. Like he was the coolest guy ever.

Yeah. He was great. And so under the center, nobody's under center anymore. but way back in the day, you put your hands under the center's rear. And I had a tick when I would snap the ball. And I would kind of flinch right before I was going to snap it. And he was so low to the ground in his stance, a defensive end, he could see it. And so he's getting off on the snap count in training camp.

And I'm like, bro, what is your deal? Like, is this just a veteran deal? He's like, I got to tell on you. I'm not going to tell you until after training camp. I was like, what? So he wanted to keep using it. his team. To his advantage.

And then after training camp, he told me. So sometimes I would flinch on purpose just to throw it off during the season. So yeah, that's a whole favor. Got a couple free, five yard, you know, offsides from that. So you got to, you got to give me a year. Choose three yards. J.T's the man. Yeah.

That's awesome. So you had another story that you were telling us in the, in the break before you came on. Alex did this story earlier today. Yeah. I mean. I listened on the way up. Yeah. To be honest, I haven't gotten very involved.

in this Eli Apple, Mac Jones beef. My suggestion, and I wonder if you agree with me for Mac, is that it's probably not the best idea to lean into the villain role as the quarterback, the quarterback position. You might just get dunked on by someone like Chandler Jones. There are opportunities for bigger guys on the field to remind you that they don't appreciate a dirty player. I don't know if Mac's a dirty player or not.

But you have a story very similar to this. And I believe we have the footage of this. Oh, no. Okay. We got a roll of the clip. We have the receipts, as the kiddies say. So week four, we're three and oh, go to the Super Dome in my rookie year. That's 09. Pick six to Sharper right there.

And here comes old Sanchez. You do the same thing. Okay. But however, however. To who? To who? To who? To Jonathan Vilma, who became my first partner when I took a job.

off at ABC. Right, and long before he was your partner on television, he was Jonathan Vilma. Oh, yeah, from the U, I mean, baller. I called him on the way up and he goes, you're a dirty player. I said, stop it. And so he was obviously joking. What you're taught when you throw an interception, immediately head on a swivel, because somebody's going to come take your head off. Of course. Right, the D-Lyman circle back. Now they've kind of taken that out of the game to protect the quarterbacks. But you're taught head on a swivel and then basically take out your pro tractor, figure out how fast you are and how fast he's running and go try and cut off and cause a pile.

Just create a pile. If nobody's around you, get low, don't get hit, don't get thrown out of the club. How far did you think you were going to catapult Vilma into the other directions and knock down sharper? Cause a pile, okay? It's like all a blur at that point. All right, you're running for your life. You're trying

not to get thrown in the fifth row. You know, I don't have a linebacker who outweighs you by 40 pounds. I don't have a physics degree, but like you're going, it doesn't look like he's going to spin the other way. It wasn't as bad as Mac. Agreed? Oh, so Mac is worse. Well, his was behind the play.

At least mine was in front of the ball area. Let's run this back one more time. Whoa. Hold on. You were a little behind. You were closer. His guy's walking in the end zone. And it was so funny.

I talked to Vilma on the way up in the car on the freeway today. And he goes, you know, I honestly wasn't going to try and hit you. I was just trying to join the motorcade celebration with Sharper and like go dance in the end zone. Right. He's like, but then you come me and I was pissed. We're going to watch this one more time. I need to check this. It's not that bad.

We need a check tape here. How far behind. I'm in front of them. Look at those wheels. You are where? Seven yards. Okay. So you are in front.

You are in front. Three yards. Yeah. No, Mac was behind. You're right. It was accurate. We have the tape. We just watched.

It's still kind of a dirty play. Easy. I got fined, by the way. Well, then it was a dirty play. I don't know. I don't mind dirty players. Do you think that Matt Jones is a dirty player? No, I don't think he's a dirty player.

You know what I think he did? I think he just kind of like. Panics. It's like, yeah, you kind of panic and you don't want to get taken out. And you probably didn't realize it was Eli Apple. you might have thought it was like a bigger guy, so you just kind of get low. It looks worse. It looks worse because you're so far behind it, you know?

Would you say this, though? There's understandably a little bit of animosity towards the way that quarterbacks are treated and protected. That adds to it, right? Like you're protected and you're going to pull this on us. Right. You can't go low on quarterbacks. You can't hit them if you hit them and you somehow can't levitate, which is not a skill that most humans possess.

You get a fine or a flag for falling on it. them you can't touch them correct so yes that's that's what makes it worse for quarterbacks and for mac in this situation and then kind of the way you handled it like just my bad I shouldn't have done that I said I was like why if you're going to do this and you panicked and probably not the best decision or maybe it was a little dirty or at the very least risky yeah you know why don't you just come out and say that yeah just you know hey I blew I should have stayed up and I didn't try to hurt him. I know that for a fact. And same thing with Velma. Like, I wasn't trying to hurt him. Right. It's the last thing I want to do. Well, because obviously, it's Jonathan Vilma.

Dude. Dude would have thrown me out of the club. If he wanted to, it would have gone the other way. Respectfully, of course. Mark. Thanks, Joyce. That's what I thought would happen. Speaking of accountability, I talked about Russell Wilson earlier in the show. Obviously, it's been a disaster in Denver. And I think that we are all going to take a deep breath about it for the moment, because it's over now. Nathaniel Hackett is gone. And their season's over. So there's nothing that can redeemable that can happen outside of two perfect performances to end this season for Russ.

I don't know that I have any confidence that Russ can turn it around. Not because I haven't seen him be great. But now there's a real consistent drumbeat that Russ sort of, lacks the awareness of the locker room. Sure. And the energy towards him in the locker room. We just talked about how quarterbacks are treated and there's already kind of that, but it's understood, right?

And when you're winning, no one cares. Nobody cares. No one cares. But when you're losing, everything matters. And it's starting to feel like I can't keep ignoring the constant stories. Right. About how Russ just is a celebrity who doesn't have this connection with his teammates. I think at the quarterback position, that's very important.

Yeah, I've heard some of those stories, the things that kind of came out of Seattle. And, you know, you hear the people in Seattle talk now, and it's almost like they've gotten a breath of fresh air, like, okay, we can just stick to football now. I don't know the guy like personally, so I can't say. But when you hear that many accounts of like, yeah, and you did this and, oh, this is kind of strange. And it's a little weird. I don't know what you do with that, though. You know, I don't know how you move forward with that if that's your persona, if that's your personality, if that's who you are. But Mark, you were a celebrity.

You are a celebrity, but I'm saying like when you were playing, you were a big deal. You were in New York. Yeah, but. You had the covers. You know, you were, you know, singing in clubs. Like you're always, you're always with Lance Bass. Yes. Yeah.

It's a big deal. During that time. So, I. I don't know how you describe it. My dad always told me, like, when people walk in the room, you want them to know that you're the quarterback, but you're also one of the guys. Right. Like, you're not above them, but you do have some sort of title.

You know what I mean? Like, you're the leader, and people will follow you, whatever, but you're one of the guys. And so, you know, case in point, like, we would, the quarterback in New York, I'd always get tickets to Broadway shows. I'd always get tickets to the new movie premiere, to whatever. whatever I got was contingent on bringing players from the team and their wives generally. And it was always like, okay, we have two tickets for you. I was like, I need like nine because the boys are coming or I can't go.

And they're like, well, we'd rather have you there. So we'll figure it out. And boom, and guys would go. And that's just kind of what we did. But I don't know. I've never been around a player like that that was like, I guess I can't say never. I'm not going to mention any names. But, you know, guys who are like above it.

or bigger than... But I mean, at the quarterback position, though, I think it's important. Like, you can get into a, you know, we've obviously like a diva wide receiver or a lockdown corner, but whatever. Like at the quarterback position, it's different. It's different. And I think there's only one. There's only one.

And you get all the praise. Yeah. You get all the ads. You get all that. But I think, you know, a continuous story about Brady that we always got is that it's Tom Brady, but he's going to walk up to the rookie. and introduce himself. Hey, I'm Tom Brady.

Nice to meet you. Yeah, like, oh, it's Brady. Right. Like, oh, it's Jason Taylor. I'm going to give you some shoes. When you're never bigger than it. When you're never bigger than what you have going on, when the shared struggle is really shared because you're trying to win.

Right. And I think that that's, that it's starting to feel like I'm hearing too many stories from too many places. To your point, the fact that Seattle's like, we can get back to football now, that there's not something to it. And when you're, you know, in the trenches with someone and you're losing, at the very least you're like, hey, we're losing. Devante Adams, we're losing, but this is still my guy.

And I'm going to respect that. I mean, you saw the way he came out and talked about Carr. Yeah, we'll talk about that next. You're saying, so you know. Before the break, we started talking about Derek Carr. I think it's ridiculous what the Raiders are doing with Derek Carr. I'll go as far as to say, I think Derek Carr is potentially great. But because of how bad the Raiders have been, six head coaches. Yeah. I can't even get into the list of incidents that he's had to overcome. none of the first round picks are there from the past three years. He got Savante Adams this year.

Josh McDaniels, who has no reputation whatsoever as a head coach to lean on. It's out there possibly that he is great and he's had to overcome so much that we'll never know what he was. I think we'll find out. I think it's going to be a lot like Stafford. I think he's going to be in a situation like that where he's coming from a place where he's getting beat up, you know, two playoff appearances. but then he got hurt, right? The first one played last year in the playoffs, you know, driving him down, loses by seven

or whatever it is to the Bengals who got hot at the end of the year. He's been probably the steadiest piece there in the last decade, right? Or whatever, it's been nine years. So it was, I was a little shocked, but I guess if you take all the emotion out of it and you're the team

and you have any reservation about him being your future, that's that's your move right he did not have a good season no of course not it's not all his fault though correct it's not all his fault but if you're josh mcdaniels and you want your guy and carra's not your guy anymore that's the move you got to make right right like who was his guy last time easy let's not let's not have anybody catch any strays catching any strays he drafted t-bo he he drafted i mean we have eyeballs and memories you want to playoff game. He did win a playoff game. Is that the standard? I don't know. Derek Carr hasn't. I'm not saying he's better. I'm just saying. I'm calling the game this weekend. I love Derek Carr. I'm a, you know,

my biggest criticism is being a quarterback apologist. So, uh, no, listen, I, I, I, I, I like Derek Carr a lot. But like, but like, what is the bar, right? I think that's the question. Well, here's the, here's the, here's the, here's what I always point to with Derrick. Is it, you know, do you think you can win a Super Bowl and a functional organization with Derek Carr. Absolutely. I do too. I point to Kirk Cousins and what happened with

the commanders. They never wanted to pay Kirk Cousins. Right. Everyone was always on Kirk Cousins head. He's not good enough. He's not good enough. You can't win with him. You've got to do better. Let's move on from Kirk Cousins. Right. Well, look at the Vikings now that he has Justin Jefferson and an offensive head coach. Oh, yeah.

No, look, I don't know what the Vikings are going to do in the postseason, but they're going to be there. Don't make a good. Yeah, that's exactly right. And that's what it becomes, right? And what are the commanders? The commanders are on their 11th starting quarterback since Kirk Cousins has left. Yeah. And that's what it becomes.

Give me opportunity. Shots on goals. Shots on target. Whatever. I just need chances in the dance in the postseason. Just give me opportunities. You make as many runs as you can. You need a ton of luck.

You got to get a ball to bounce your way. And you need guys to be healthy. Like, but you just got to get in. Right. You know? And so that's going to be tough. But he's going to be a hot ticket. Him, Garopolo, Baker Mayfield.

Like those are going to be the guys. maybe Brady goes to the Raider. How crazy would that be? If Brady goes to Raiders, after the whole talk to the whole talk to a thing, like seeing him in black, the silver and black? I think it's a possibility.

It's, it is my and was my initial tinfoil hat. E-N-a-N-N-er. That would be so wild. This is why they're moving on. Listen, again, I know Derek Carr didn't have the best season. But overall,

if you're going to make a move this drastic. Would they go get Mac Jones? What? Just the Patriots deal there. He's coached up, the Raiders. We're getting off the rails here. You're the one with a tinful hat. Yeah, but like...

Tom Brady made sense. Yeah, Tom Brady makes sense. Okay, guys. One dirty play on Eli Apple, now we're written on. You want everyone to forget about what you did to Vilma. Let's talk about the Jets, though, really quickly while we're talking about potential places that Derek Carr might actually end up. I think the Jets is a very viable option for it. They are a quarterback away from being, they're trying to make into the playoffs now.

If they had a functional quarterback, Derek Carr, I think would be a great option for the Jets. if they move on from Zach Wilson. I think they should move on from Zach Wilson. I won't say that I entirely loved how it was handled, but I understood why Robert Sala did it. And I think he would have lost the locker room if he didn't make the move. I think that was the issue.

I think you nailed it, that he would lose his credibility with everybody. And you had to make the move. Then Mike White comes in, plays decent, plays pretty well. And then Zach has to go back in. And you're just looking for improvement. Like show me that you're like maturing, handle the podium, boom. And right now it's just such a long road with the fan base, with the locker room.

That place is, you know, unforgiving, man. It is a tough, tough place. We were kind of talking to the break. And once it's over, it's, oh, I mean, they try to run Eli Manning out of town. Yes. And he was already a Super Bowl MVP and a champion. The year, God, we played them on Christmas. The year Victor, the year they won the Super Bowl, Eli's like 20 picks,

20 touchdowns, like one of the last games of the year, having a very average year, him and Coughlin are gone. Like it was riding on the wall. They're the worst. Giants suck. All this, right? That's all you hear. We play them on Christmas, I want to say.

It's the one where Victor Cruz had like the 99-yard touchdown. We had two guys run into each other and there goes Victor Cruz. They did. I don't know if Eli threw another interception after that game. They went on that crazy run and won the Super Bowl in Indianapolis. After that one play, it was like their whole. season changed. So yeah, can you do it? Sure. Is it going to happen there this year with Zach and the Jets? I just don't see it. I just think the odds are stacked up against it. It's too tough.

You know that city and that organization and the media there. I know the media has changed a lot since you were there. There's more. Well, I'll say this. There's more and you can get criticized anywhere. Like for a while if you were like in a big city, that's how I was going to go. you could kind of go under the radar. Now, it doesn't matter where you are. You're going to, if you're in Buffalo, if you're in a smaller market, well, locally they're going to be nicer to you. Yeah, but. Yeah. It is, I, it is still, however, I believe, different in New York. Oh, 100%. I mean, look at like what Andy Reid's done in Casey. Like, you can kind of handle that media market. It's not like crazy. And he's built it the right way, kind of under the radar. If you're in Jacksonville, smaller market.

like it's just different indie you know uh Denver you know it's just a different look at where Peyton went he loved it like he didn't have to deal with all that stuff and it's it's it's a different animal and it's something right it's always going to be there it's always when it's good it's great when it's a little shaky it's awful you know what it's a superlative market right you have to have the disposition for it because oh no doubt I going to work every day dealing with something it's you know what's funny it's like when you watch the coaches there. It's almost like watching presidents after their first term and how much they've aged. And you're just like, damn. Like, whoa. You know, like, the weight of the world is

just on your shoulders. And sometimes Saul walks in. And he's a stud. Like, that dude is like skin like an armadillo. You know, like not a deer skin guy. He's tough. I like him. He handles it. But sometimes you just like wear it in those press conferences and you're at the podium just like, oh my God, here we go again. Okay, here comes Magnanimus Mode. Hey, how are we doing today? Like, you know, you got to turn it on and fake it and play the game. But it sucks. It's like eating at your soul and it's awful.

So I, you know, I feel bad for Zach in some ways, but in other ways, maybe it gets a better opportunity somewhere else. Jeez, New York media, relax a little bit. Oh, it is gnarly. I mean, this is a little drama queen too. But yeah, it is very descriptive. Every New York sport is pretty aggressive, media-wise. Learn a lot. Yeah.

Tough skin. Are we out in 30 guys? I don't know if anyone's talking to me, but. Yeah, I kind of heard that one. I was like, let me know. Let me know when the break is. I just keep talking. I have.

No one's queuing me. And rap. Okay. All right. Good. So I won't get Mark started on another story. Yeah. I do think that it is something.

And it's why I think that the Jets are going to look very different next year. Yeah. I do think that Derek Carr would do well there and it would be a good space for him. So silver lining for Derek Carr. You're going to get an opportunity to go somewhere else. Or Jimmy G. In New York? I think it's possible.

Baker Mayfield. That would be amazing just for the sound bites. I'd love it. Look, I haven't, I've been reserving my, my Baker takes. Mark Jones to the Raiders. Mac Jones and Rayors, Baker and Jets. Jimmy's going where's Jimmy going? We've got Panthers, we've got commanders.

We've got options here. Panthers. Panthers? All right. Yeah. You heard it here first. Jimmy D. Do the Panthers? No, I don't know.
