Guaranteed Human.
Hey, guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast.
Just listen.
We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy.
Not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Winning on Clay is an art.
The rallies are relentless, and at the French Open, only the toughest survive.
I'd know, I competed there for decades.
Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no-nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris.
She's an outsider to win the French win.
And she likes Clay?
Listen, Lennarabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now,
and I actually can win on any surface.

I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance
I've ever reported on, a Mormon polygamist, and an Armenian businessman.
Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets,
a billion dollar fraud.
But how long can this alliance last?
Tell me what you know.
Is somebody coming after me?

You know, it was interesting.
We got into this big argument last week about Gentie, the running back from Boise State, or Travis Hunter,
who would we pick for the Heisman?
I said Travis Hunter from Colorado, because I think college football is uniquely dependent.
All the arguments in college football come down to,
who did you play? Like in the NFL, it doesn't matter if you win your division, you're getting a home game in the playoffs.
It doesn't matter who you played. But in college, all the arguments are who do you play? Even in recruiting,
kids are like, well, who do you play? Do you get on television? So in college football, the Big Ten can have four teams in the playoffs and the ACC can have two. Why? Who do you play?
The Big Ten's better, better competition for years and years. The SEC has been considered the best conference. Why?
Because you have to go play all these good teams.
So to me, the Boise State running back is very good.
He had three touchdowns against Oregon, the best team they played.
So he's a first round running back.
But he had 270 yards and six touchdowns against Georgia Southern.
There's a lot of San Jose states and Utah states.
And I'm not saying Colorado had the toughest schedule in the country,
but they're facing Power 5 big-time programs.
They're going on the road, and he's the best athlete on the field.
So I think both are going to be great pros.
The argument is what do you do with Travis?
Hunter, what do you do with him as a pro? I'd put him at corner and either put him on
returns or as a number three receiver. I couldn't make him a number one receiver in a number
one quarter. I just don't, I think that's a lot to ask. But I think he is a, I mean, I think
he's an all-time, maybe not Dion Sanders level, but Sauce Gardner level corner, and then I would
use him as a weapon on the offensive side. But I'm comfortable saying Travis Hunter, because he's so
historically unique.
They're all good kids.
We're all lucky to have all these kids that are so focused on the right stuff.
But I had him number one.
I'd put the running back for Boise State number two, and I'm comfortable with it.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific.
Hey, it's Steve Kavino.
And I'm Rich Davis.

We talk about everything, life, sports, relationships, what's going on in the world?
We have a lot of fun talking about the stories behind the stories in the world of sports and pop culture.
Stories that, well, other shows don't seem to have the time to discuss.
And the fact that we've been friends for the last 20 years and still work together, I mean, that says something, right?
So check us out.
We like to get you involved too.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, huge news?
We created our own podcast called,
Hey, Jonas, we invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name,
Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it
one of the early names of our band
before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing,
a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say,
Hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little
Notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis,
and I know firsthand because I competed there myself.
I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast,
I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris.
every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on Clay.
Jenchen won.
I mean, she went down at three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted.
She's an outsider to win the French for me.
And she likes Clay.
Listen, Lina Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now,

Because if she's serving, well, good luck.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing
and we're still chasing it
and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person
while you hear on earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

What's up, fam?
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reed.
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night bases on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by,
like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He run up the court, licking his fingers,
why he got the ball like,
after you go through a training camp with that I-Zad,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
J-Mac with the news.
No, no, no, no, turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
I know we haven't talked about it much.
But Lamar Jackson had quite a Sunday
against the hapless giants,
dealt them their ninth straight loss.
season. Lamar had five touchdown passes.
Colin, it's the seventh time in his career where Lamar has had as many or more passing
touchdowns, five, than incompletions four.
He also joined Mike Vic as the only quarterback over 6,000 rushing yards.
Raven's role.
Lamar, you know, he is putting up MVP numbers.
He's had a better season this year than he did last year.
The only problem is they lost a bunch of games they're in the middle.
I think the only question with Lamar is January.
I think he's better.
He can't play quarterback.
Check.
Well, he's not as good in the pocket.
Check.
He's totally committed, the soul of the franchise.
And I've said this before.
There are certain players in the NFL, even great ones that are replaceable.
Like if Joe Burrow left Cincinnati tomorrow and ended up, you know, in a good franchise or anywhere,
you'd be like it wouldn't be that memorable the Cincinnati days.
I feel more than any player in the NFL.
Lamar Jackson feels like Baltimore.
The toughness, the grit, the work ethic.
It's always been a, it's never been a flashy franchise.
It is a tough bar room, I mean, even the show The Wire, it's a tough city.
You know, D.C. gets all the glamour, Philadelphia, all those East Coast cities.
Baltimore is the one that gets overlooked.
Lamar Jackson was overlooked.
And his toughness and his leadership, how much he cares.
I don't think there's a player in the league that symbolizes a franchise and the toughness and the work ethic better than Lamar with the Ravens.
I think you're right.
Kind of an underplayed story regarding Lamar.
Remember him and Derek Henry were supposed to make this offense incredible?
Yeah.
Have you taken a look at Derek Henry's last, I don't know, five games?
I know.
I noticed that.
So he did erupt against the Chargers, right?
But four of the last five games, under 85 yards rushing.
And they've lost two of them.
I'm just curious.
Is he wearing down?
strategic, hey, let's save him for January.
It's one of those two. We don't know.
Listen,
the NFL season's longer than people think.
The NFL's now added another game.
There is discussions for an 18th game.
To me, you have to expand the rosters.
I would agree.
The idea, we're lucky that, I mean,
McCaffrey got hurt.
Joe Mixing got hurt.
Now Montgomery is hurt.
Chubs now down.
Yeah, there are certain positions in the NFL.
Jay Dobbins, that injury has crippled.
I mean, if you could argue,
the running back visit, because quarterbacks are protected, kickers protected,
there's wide receivers now you can't hit them high, we don't protect running backs.
So to me, if you're going to expand the roster and play 18 games,
teams have to add another running back.
Too many teams.
I mean, now Detroit's lost their running back.
That's going to absolutely affect stylistically how they play.
I guess final note, Raven Steelers rematch this week.
you saw how much the Steelers defense was on the field.
T.J. Watts hurt.
We don't know if Pickens is back.
I like Baltimore.
Revenge spot. Remember Baltimore last the last one in Pittsburgh?
And I think they would be tied for first if Baltimore wins.
So that could be huge in the playoff race.
Steelers then would have to go on the road.
A lot of things that take this weekend.
Steelers are really beholden to George Pickens.
I will say, despite being outplayed, it was 17-13.
If Najee Harris doesn't fumble, you're sitting there thinking, we've got a one-score game.
That was a huge turnover.
Also, when Sequin went out, I think it was 17-3.
And then it was like, oh, boy, this is going to be a blowout.
And then Pittsburgh got back.
You know, Sequin Barclay goes down.
Eagles are in trouble.
Next story, Colin, things that cannot be separated.
Okay, your love for Sam Darnold.
Yes.
Me and the Jets.
Yes.
Will Levis throwing pick sixes.
How about it, Colin?
He threw another one yesterday in the loss of the Bengals that it led to him getting
benched by Brian Callahan. Callahan has seen enough. He said this morning about the benching.
He doesn't know who his quarterback is this week. The easiest way to say is that there's a,
you know, there's a standard of play, and there's been multiple guys in our team that we've sat down
for percent. Those are all things that are just a part of NFL life.
A part of performance in China win football games. And you just have to make sure that when you're making
decision and you're coaching that it's the same across the board for all positions and
the quarterback position is a part of that.
New information equals new opinion.
If you look at the draft order right now, I think the Giants Raiders and the Titans
at six are going to draft quarterbacks.
So Titans go Quinn Ewers or Jalen Milrault?
Keep your eye on Sam Darnold.
Oh.
So I thought it was Giants Raiders.
Millrow drops to 9, 10, 11, 12, 13.
I think the Titans have come to terms with
it's just how out, first of all,
I remember when he got drafted,
Clay Travis is like, it's not going to work.
And I'm like, Clay's got a big arm, you know,
because he watched All Will Lovice in college,
and he's a Titans fan, and I thought,
ah, give it a shot.
Yeah, it doesn't work. It doesn't work.
He, judgment, he makes throws that you can't make,
and now he's got plenty of starts.
So I think Giant, Raiders, and Titans are all either drafting or acquiring a quarterback.
And it's not a good quarterback year.
It's not.
I don't know that I wish the Titans' offensive line on Sam Darnel.
He's not going to have much of a chance.
Or, or, or.
Titans at number six could go get the offensive tackle Campbell from LSU and then get Riley Leonard.
Second round quarterback.
Tony Pollard's looked okay. Taji Spears has some pop.
Ridley's good.
No, no, no.
They got dudes.
They got some guys.
They have.
And I like Callahan as a coach.
So do I.
I have no.
I think the Titans, you just can't overcome multiple interception games.
Yeah.
That's a rough one.
Final story, Colin, we are going to Shadour Sanders, who's expected to be the number one pick in the draft.
But the question is about, is he going to want to go where he's drafted?
And a report surfaced over the weekend saying there was a,
High likelihood, Shadur would refuse to play for the Giants or Browns.
Dion disputed the rumor quickly on Twitter saying,
Eli, don't care who tells it.
Please stop trying to become relevant by misrepresenting my son.
God bless you.
I don't know what NFL rookie watches, but.
Dion quickly shot it down.
Can we just...
Yeah, I don't know what that means.
Well, everybody's chasing clicks and followers.
Listen, Shadur is the most polished of the quarterback.
Cam Ward's got a bigger arm
and I think moves better
So I think it depends on what you're looking for
I think sometimes with Cam Ward it feels a little backyard football
But some people may want that
I mean Josh Allen moves Lamar moves it works
Raiders and Shadoor seem like a perfect thing
God wouldn't that be great?
I'm going to go ahead and put it out there
I'm going to go ahead and guess Dion is not going to want
Chador to play for the New York Giants
I'm not know why is that
Well I mean the franchise has been totally right
for the last five years, right?
They stink.
Well, it's not like the Raiders
have been up there dominating.
Offensive line, they can't get right.
Well, the Raiders, the problem is they have some
affinity. Shador seems to like the Raiders.
We know Deion has a relationship
with Antonio. Well, Vegas is fun if you're a young guy
with money. Well, that would... I mean,
Shadour Sanders in Vegas.
Hey. And we talked about, since they moved there, they
needed a face for the franchise. They had Gruden.
Now they got nobody. Max Crosby's the
face. A defensive end is going to be the face of your franchise?
Well, I think he is a raider through and through
He is, but you can't sell tickets with, hey, we got Max Crosby.
You can sell Shudor Sanders.
Go ask Colorado.
They're making money hand over Fistice here.
Yeah, it was exciting.
Yeah.
Would you draft him number one?
I would.
Given the choices, yeah, probably.
Yeah, I don't think.
I don't think he's in the class of Caleb Williams.
No, no, no, I don't either.
Or Jaden Daniels.
He's not one of those guys.
No, but I think he's polished.
I think he's a kid that understands, holds on the ball a little too long,
but nobody's a finished product once you get to the NFL.
Nobody. Andrew Luck wasn't. Nobody is.
Jay Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lie News.
Oh, my goodness.
Baker Mayfield, putting on a clinic.
Mark Sanchez is now joining us.
Fox Sports NFL analyst.
Number five pick, 10 NFL years.
Boy, that was a shocker yesterday.
We'll get to that one.
Were you shocked?
Dropping a 40 burger on the Chargers?
And if they didn't turn it over twice.
I mean, it was...
They might have hung half a hundred on it.
They were...
And we'll get to that.
Let me ask you this.
So, this season is much more attrition than people think.
Since you've played, they've added a game on.
They want to add another one on.
And I think the league gets...
Athletes get bigger and stronger every year.
The hits are harder.
And so I look at Detroit, and I really felt it yesterday.
They're running out of dudes.
Yeah.
And Buffalo's not.
and frankly Philadelphia is so damn deep.
I even look at Green Bay and the Rams and Tampa.
Did you ever play for a team and you're like,
we're just running out of dudes?
So we had my rookie year, we kind of backed into the playoffs.
Then I talked about this last week.
The second year, we were,
we won a bunch of games in the middle chunk of the year,
that like middle third.
Yeah.
And we're starting to crescendo right at the right time.
And that's what some of those teams you mentioned are doing.
Unfortunately, for Detroit, it's the opposite.
They're going on the downturn.
And that's the only fear.
When you start that hot, you just hope guys don't start dropping.
And if they do, it's a short break, right?
You miss them for two games, whatever.
You have somebody patch the hole and then move on.
Unfortunately, they're losing guys left and right,
and they're catastrophic injuries.
And now it turned into a, hey, we've got to outscore these teams.
it changed right formula to win every week is based on your personnel.
Well, when you start losing personnel and now it's, okay, we're more of a one-sided team
because our defense is so depleted that we got to outscore you and kind of change our
toughness identity because if you're an outscoring the other team type ball club,
that's a more finesse group, usually, usually.
You know, you can still run the ball and be physical, but generally speaking,
you're a little more finesse.
That's not really what they are.
Then you lose Montgomery.
I mean, that was one of the best
tandums in the league when it comes to running backs,
either them or the Buccaneers.
So they just kind of lost
a little bit of their identity because they lost
so many guys that were starting for them.
And that's just, you can't control that.
And I think that you hit it.
They're losing their identity.
It's not just players, a bit of their identity.
Yeah.
Deep, talented, layers, two backs.
Now they're kind of like...
And everybody can only withstand so much.
I mean, and it was interesting.
Because we had that Bucks game,
I was closer to it.
a little more, I guess, aware.
But hearing Todd Bowles talk about it,
you know, we have the luxury of talking to these coaches
each week going into games.
They were beat up early.
Exactly. And so I asked him about that
and this war of attrition that we talk about
over the long haul of the season.
And he almost like cut me off
and was just like, hey, these guys made the team for a reason.
I'm getting paid to coach them.
I got to coach them up.
I got to get them in the right spots.
and it's my job when we put in all these blitz packages
to get him in the right spot.
And, you know, Antoine Winfield,
he does these 20 things for us really well.
Well, the guy who's filling in for him,
Merriweather, he might not do all those things.
Okay, but what does he do well?
Yeah.
Let's try and keep him in that zone.
Keep him in that strike zone.
You know what I mean?
And I really appreciated that because a lot of teams,
you know, you use it as an excuse.
And however you want to use it,
I just appreciated that he said,
hey, man, it was almost like he was convincing himself
not to go to negative town like, oh, woe is me, we lost all these players.
So I really appreciated that.
I thought it was interesting with the Packers last night.
And we both know they're young and good.
But those first two drives, they took Seattle's crowd out of it.
And you've got to do that in Seattle.
I'm sitting there watching them like, man, they talked about that all week.
Yeah.
Oh, 100%.
And you know going into a hostile environment like that, it's, you know,
you're 53 against the world kind of mentality and enemy territory.
Do you like that?
I mean, we loved it.
That was our only chance, right?
We didn't win the division.
Tom Brady was owning our division when we were playing.
So we had to go on the road and play us.
And it just felt like, okay, this is what we do.
And once you stack one of those wins, you're like, I like it.
Let's do it again.
We're kind of the villain coming into town.
You know, with the Grinch, we come in, we steal your Christmas and move on and
try and go take the next one.
That's kind of the way it feels.
So I think they've adopted that mentality for sure.
And when you go to Seattle like that, you better be ready.
early. And if you're not ready early, you're going to get punched and, okay, you're going to be
a little wobbly and then you've got to try and come back. And that's really hard to do to shut
that crowd up later in the game after they're already going bonkers. So I thought of you,
because I knew you were on the show today and I thought about this. So I'm joking today that Philadelphia
is the strangest great organization in football. I mean, you've got coaches on the sidelines
yelling. You've got wide receiver drama. I mean, they run through coaches that make the Super Bowl.
And I actually thought, what was the last team that won a lot of games that had a level of
dysfunction? And I thought, Rex Ryan, you guys had, you were loud. It was noisy. Okay, but my take
is it kind of worked for you guys. And for Philadelphia, I kind of feel like they're very alpha,
but it's kind of, they, I mean, the GM's alpha. The owners.
Alpha. And everybody looks at, I look at them and I'm like,
ugh, yeah, it's a, and I'm like, they've got
a name for their security guard. I know the name of their security guard.
Go back to your Jets team. It's Ray Donovan.
So go back to your Jets team. It was a loud team with a loud
media. It was loud. Did we look at it? Were we making
more out of what it really was? Some of the stuff like,
you know, um, I'm trying to think of a story that blew up for no reason.
Anything on hard knocks, I'm sure got blown out of proportion.
You know, it's just...
The Eminems?
Yeah, like, you know, the Eminems or, you know, whatever...
Foot finish.
There we go.
I'm sorry, it happened. It's not me.
Where other people were just like, what?
Like, I didn't even know that was a thing.
Like, some guys on the team didn't even realize that was really happening in the media.
So you weren't paying attention.
And then, you know, you go to your press conference on Wednesday or Thursday,
and they have to tell you, they give you, like, a little briefing.
You know, think of, like, the president.
You can't just throw them out there blind.
Like, hey, you know,
good luck you know hey we're going to have this conversation i'm sure they're going to ask about
russia i'm sure they're going to ask about this you know what to me like you got to have an idea
of what's coming up so then i hear about it 30 seconds before i go up to the podium and i'm like
do i even have to comment on that is this really a thing right and who cares like new york
does no i know but my thing was like okay maybe he's in defeat i don't know is that affecting
if we're winning these games or not i'm unsure that really was folks if you're just
It was a thing in New York.
But I don't know.
It works for Philly.
It does in some ways.
I think it's distracting at times.
But they have the personnel.
Bottom line, they have the personnel to overcome that.
And when you have those kind of players
and you start winning games like this,
dominating games,
and you can run the ball like that?
Come on, man.
I mean, they have five to seven players
on each side of the ball that other teams would kill for.
Would give up the farm for it to, like, start a team around.
You know what I mean?
Their whole offensive line is one of the best lines in the league,
and they just demolish you up front.
They own the line of scrimmage and reestablish it two yards down the field.
So, I mean, yeah, a couple loud stories and whatever, this outside noise,
I don't think it bothers them because they're just too good.
They're really good.
They are really good.
And I know we were supposed to talk about the Packers, and I went heavy on the Seahawks,
but if I can circle back to the Packers, because they're young,
but if you approach them as young in the playoffs, I think you're crazy.
That's a team young in trips around the sun, not young in experience.
Remember, they went to Dallas last year and waxed them.
Dominate.
Right?
They won by 16?
18.
I mean, they took them in the second quarter.
Whatever was like over.
Okay.
So that was big time.
Then they have the Niners on the ropes and should have won that game.
They're in the championship.
I mean, they're playing Detroit for the championship game.
They've been in prize fight.
That's what I'm saying.
So this team, if you approach them like, oh, this is a young,
team, they're not ready for,
that'd be a bad way to go
about it, in my opinion. Yeah, no, I agree with
you. Okay, when I take a break, come back.
I'm interested. I said this earlier.
I would want no
part of tamping the playoffs.
Oh, yeah, they're going to be a tough out.
Can't run on them? They'll run on you.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, news, news?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to a podcast.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
And, well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey, Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with

The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis, and I know firsthand because I competed there myself.
I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris.
Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay.
Jenchian win.
I mean, she went down in three to Rovachina, but I'm delighted.
She's an outsider to win the French for me.
And she likes Clay.
Listen, Lena Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now.
And I actually can win on any surface.
Because if she's serving, well, good luck.
Consider this your court side seat to the French Open.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it,
and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns,
Justin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

This Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano.
podcast point game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball.
Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.

Here's the good news, Mark, was the quarterback for the Jets and their last
playoff win.
The bad news, that was 2010.
Dang.
I didn't, I didn't mean, I'm just telling the truth.
Wow.
I'm just, I'm sorry.
Now starting in left field.
Okay.
Holy smokes.
He brings tape.
All I do is drop facts.
Okay.
I watch Baker Mayfield.
People think I don't like Baker.
When he signed with Tampa, I said, I got no problem with it.
He's hit the grit and the fifth.
It's going to work.
Oh,
creating the fit,
nice.
So what do you got for me?
No,
listen,
Tampa in general,
I think their formula to win,
we talk about this with a lot of teams.
They run the ball well.
They stop the run well.
They can choke you out,
essentially.
They suffocate you.
And the way they do it is,
they limit your possessions.
So instead of anywhere
from 12 to 15 possessions a game,
you're getting like 10,
nine.
Yeah.
And you better score on four to seven of those
if you want to have a really good
offensive out.
That's really hope.
that's asking your offense a lot to do a lot. And that's kind of where they get over. Vita Vaya,
I don't think he gets enough love on the D-line. He is constantly dealing with double teams,
constantly knocking two players back, grown men, just throwing them around. So that was fun to watch.
And when Baker takes care of the football, I mean, Liam Cohen's got this guy playing really well.
He's going to get some offers to be a head coach. Oh, 100%. Just based on, I mean, look at Canales last year.
Look at Liam Cohen. He went right in that spot, and he might have this team in the same position, if not better,
they win a playoff game.
So I just appreciate his approach to third down.
Remember, they're second in the league, I think,
in third down behind Kansas City.
So this is an explosive unit on third down,
and they do take chances,
and I think they do it at the right time.
And they align their guys in specific spots.
They get information from the defense.
I think those are really important themes.
And then they trust Baker to cut it loose when it's time to cut it loose.
So when we roll the first clip,
when we talk about getting information from the defense,
they're going to do it with the halfback and the motion.
And so watch the back.
And it's really the speed and the pace.
And this looks real.
It looks, we have it in slow motion, but it looks real that they're going to snap it.
And Rashad White's going to go flying to the left of the screen.
So those safety starts a trigger.
So Baker knows, I got a double cadence.
Okay, I got them.
They're going man to man.
I can confirm the defense.
I know exactly what I'm getting.
So we zoom out to the All-22, and you see the man-to-man that Baker confirmed with that motion.
So that just gives them one thing in his back pocket.
I know what I'm facing.
Now, normally these bunch sets, you have this guy closer to those stacked receivers.
But because he's a little farther in, alignment dictates your assignment and how the defense is going to play you.
So these guys are going to lock the point.
And normally, in a bunch like this, when you send three defenders out there, you're going to lock the point one-on-one and then combo the other two.
The first guy is going to take the first one in.
The inside defender will take the inside route.
The outside defender will take the outside route.
and you kind of zone those off
until they end up in your area
and then attack your guy.
Well, because he's displaced,
also they can't do that
and he can potentially give presence
on Khalil Mack.
So now you're affecting the D-line
and their rush and their rush plan
because if he's going to get chipped,
he's got to prepare for that.
So because of where he lines up,
they're just going to go man to man
across the board.
Yeah.
Look at the problem
with this congestion
and traffic pattern for the defense.
How do you get through all that?
They're going to release all these guys
on the same level.
level and it's going to cause some serious issues when they release off the ball.
Watch. McMillan's going to run around and watch the natural pick he gets from the other
two guys. He has the throw inside if he really wanted it on the in route, but he puts a beautiful
ball up in the air. That feels like it's almost unstoppable. Yeah, like that was executed well.
And it was executed well. It was called at the right time. It was third and short. You knew you were
going to get man to man. And you trust Baker to make the right decision.
If they get zoned off, you're going to read Otten to the in route to the back, right?
And he trusts them to do that.
If you get man, hey, this wheel route's a high alert.
Boom, nailed it.
They got man.
He told them it was going to be man.
He showed him in the walkthrough.
He showed him with the motion.
It happened in the game.
You could tell they're on the same page.
Next time, it's third and long.
So remember, on third and long, if you convert, you know, third and 10 plus,
if you convert one for four, you're probably leading the league.
Same thing.
If you throw, you know, balls over 40 yards in the air, if you hear, if you
hit one for four of those, you're doing fine, right? So just keep those stats in mind as we roll the next
clip because this next clip is third and 12. So remember, one for four and we're, we're feeling
great about ourselves as an offense. So this defense is going to present from the Chargers and
Jesse Minter, this sticks coverage. They're going to put all three safeties at the same level,
and they're all going to be right where the sticks are. They're going to play everything top down
and react to underneath routes because they think these kind of routes are coming. This is what a lot
of teams do. They line up in three by one, put your best receiver in a cut split, run them on a
shallow cross, and then tell the other guys to go block. It's basically like a service-type
play for your best receiver, hopefully a broken tackle, hopefully a good block, boom, you get a
first down and you luck into one. Great. Or what Liam Cohen wants to do, dude, let's go. Let's get
aggressive. If we're going one for four on third down, who cares? We're going one for four on this
go ball. Let's go. We got speed. We got size. We got a quarterback who can rip it. Let's do it. Every
once in a while, I like taking a shot on third and long. And so what do they do? All these D.Bs get caught
on the same level and watch where Derwin James goes. He's kind of playing the middle field safety.
He picks to the right. So Baker's like, cool, I'm moving off of you. Baker drop back stared right at
Derwin James. Derwin James goes right. He goes left. Will you get an east-west double team? So an in-and-out
double team? There's only one way to beat it, Colin, and you'll never forget it because it's Olivia
Newton-John, John, not physical, but let's get vertical. Okay? That's how you beat.
an east-west double team.
But the other thing is,
apparently he had Mike Evans on his fantasy team
because he had three different touchdowns to throw on this play.
There's three dudes who could easily get this throw,
which is crazy to me on third and 12,
which means those guys were on their heels
expecting those underneath routes.
You jumped them with your speed.
You threw routes right at him,
and you blew right by him.
So he throws this incredible ball
to a future Hall of Famer, first ballot.
I mean, this was beautiful.
Look at how open.
and they have multiple guys open.
There's three touchdowns on one play.
I mean, the only regret on that play
if I'm Liam Cohn is like, dang!
I wish we could have spread him out.
You know what I mean?
So it was really fun to watch.
I think Baker's really coming into his own.
And I'm telling you, when he takes care of the football,
he had one bad interception yesterday.
Other than that, it was just a little late, bad read,
kind of reactionary kind of throw.
And other than that, he played lights out.
I want to wrap with this.
Got a couple of minutes left.
if bingles, Joe Burrow
barking into the coach.
And I appreciate authenticity.
I've said this before. I will defend a pro athlete
during a game on the sidelines.
Manning yelling at Jeff Saturday.
Brady yelling at Josh.
I will always defend an athlete.
What did you make of it?
I mean, you can read his lips and you can tell what he's saying.
We played like blank, yeah.
And I'm sure he's, you know,
The coach is trying to give him, hey, man, we're going to be fine.
You know, trying to love you up.
And I get it.
He's so competitive.
He gets into a dark space.
You know, you can tell when he plays, that dude's nasty.
And he's like a hired assassin.
You know what I mean?
He's like, no emotion.
I'm just, I'm here to win.
And I don't just want to win.
I want to rip your heart out.
So it's hard to console people like that, especially in those, in the moment.
In the moment, you know, your tensions are already high.
So what are you going to say?
Like, yeah, coach, you're right.
We're going to be okay or it's okay.
I kind of like that Burroughs standards, though, are I don't care that we're winning.
I care how we're winning.
Yeah, and, you know, he's frustrated, just like a lot of people there in Cincinnati.
It's not going exactly the way they thought.
And, you know, they're trying to fight for their life.
So it's, and their jobs and job security and all that.
So it's, you know, there's a lot going on.
Okay.
Patrick Mahomes gets hurt.
Carson Wentz is a more than capable backup.
Would you worry if you're Andy Reed?
Listen, it's late in the season.
Xavier Worthy's young.
Noah Gray's Young.
What if, do you think Annie would go,
I'm going to give you two to three weeks off,
but I think the receiving course kind of new.
Would you worry about that at all?
The relationship between the quarterback and receivers?
Kelsey, I don't worry about.
But there's a lot of new faces.
I think some of it would just be their chemistry in general.
the other thing you know quarterback to receiver and time on task and stuff like
Mahomes is getting all those reps in practice he knows the body language whatever the other
guy's only watching right Carson Wentz is only watching those reps taking in as much as he can
but the one thing I'll say about Andy Reid is go back to whoever's played for him
every quarterback has had some level of success playing for that guy I don't care if it's
Kevin Cobb Jeff Garcia McNabb the laundry list is long it's like
a CVS receipt. The dude is just
a quarterback whisperer and he's going
to put you in great
situations and the stuff you can't
handle, he's going to keep that away from you.
And we'll play a little more conservative approach.
And if the other team beats us, they beat us.
But we're not going to give it away. You know what I mean?
And expect you to do something that Patrick does
or expect, you know,
Kevin Cobb to do something that Michael
Vick or Donovan McNaab
can do. You know what I mean? Like, he's not
going to do that to these players. So
that's probably the least.
of my concerns there
because I trust the head coach.
Yeah.
Sometimes I think, you know, watching Burrough
and watching Mahomes, we forget
that it's not just a Sunday business.
Oh, no.
There's a lot that goes in.
That's all we see.
Of course, of course.
But it's, yeah, the Andy Reid's right.
The ability to play chess, relate.
And not to say it's easy,
not to say he's not going to, you know,
have some sleeplessness.
night's there, but...
Again, the last guy to win a Jets playoff game.
I will not mention the year. Apparently, that's sensitive.
Hey, does somebody not...
