Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast. Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan, so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes. Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away, such as the biology of Tontons and Wampas on the Ice Planet Hot, or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule. of two.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Listen to Stuff to Bole Your Mind on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Clever Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Cliver Show. This is a place for raw, unfills of conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it. Listen to the Clifford show on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:05 And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok podcast network on TikTok. On the Look Back at it podcast. From 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84's big to me. I'm Sam Jay. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a here,
Starting point is 00:02:19 unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. Before it was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard Podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Find your local station for the herd at Fox SportsRadio.com or stream us live every day on the IHeartRadio app by searching Fox Sports Radio. or FSR. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Three Rings, MVP of a Super Bowl, third leading receiver in NFL playoff history. Most yards, most receptions, number three. Now Fox Sports, NFL analyst, Julian Edelman. You know, Tom Brady was on earlier in the week.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Took kind of a jab at you. We'll get to that later. No reason to, you know, have a border skirmish early in the evening. I mean, what's going on? Shots fired. I know. It's ridiculous. Let's start with a non-patriot story.
Starting point is 00:03:33 I've always had this belief. Everything in the NFL is something. Nothing's everything. I would rather, with a new old line and a coach on the hot seat, Aaron Rogers, show up to camp. What was your take on that? My take is, you know, I know a lot of people do things differently. But God forbid the New York Jets start one in three in the beginning of the season.
Starting point is 00:03:59 in which they start with the Niners, Tennessee, Patriots. Who else? The last one? Someone else, regardless. And we all know that the Patriots are no good, but that defense is still the same defense. And that's who Aaron goes against. If they go one in three, this is going to be such a big distraction for that locker room because everyone's going to be talking about. This is New York City.
Starting point is 00:04:19 You know, this media, it's a media capital of the world. And you can't tell me, you know, I'm a big Aaron Rogers fan, but if I was in that locker room and, Aaron Rogers wasn't there for three days on the mandatory mini-camps. Having played four snaps last year. Having played four snaps off of an injury when we have two new receivers, we got a bunch of new linemen that we added to the team with a CBA that doesn't allow us to practice a lot.
Starting point is 00:04:45 You know, I guarantee there's four or five guys, six, seven, eight, nine guys in that locker room sitting there like, where's he at? Where's our star quarterback? Where's he at? Now, you know, if they start four and no, no one's going to care. That's right. But that's this NFL. I think it's a bad look for your leader, for whatever reason to go and miss an unexcused absence. I mean, I was with
Starting point is 00:05:10 Tom Brady in his 20th, fifth year, 23rd year, and he started missing OTAs here and there, but he was still there, never missed a mandatory minicamp. And, you know, I just thought it was a bad look. Yeah, that's how I look. And to your point, everything in New York's magnified, which is why it's a cautionary tale. If you do, if you go look at the history of New York, the guys that succeed grow with the city. Jeter, Eli Manning, Aaron, Judge.
Starting point is 00:05:36 When you bring in a star, Arod, I mean, that's a prime example. It's harder because the expectations from day one are through the roof. Yeah. And, well, people don't realize you can't win games in the off season,
Starting point is 00:05:50 but you can't lose them. Because this is ultimately where you gain your fundamentals. And later on in the year, you rely on fundamentals in high stress situations. That's what you're going to naturally fall on. And so when you're a young receiver and you haven't played with the quarterback
Starting point is 00:06:05 and then you're going to go into training camp and things are going to be coming a lot faster. You have the pads on. It's going to be tougher for that continuity for that whole unit. And also with the linemen, I mean, you know, when you're a receiver, during practice, those reps are so crucial
Starting point is 00:06:22 because say you get something, you run a route and you catch the line, ball. The more important thing is after practice when you watch the film and you guys communicate on what was good about that, what was wrong about that, and they're not going to have any of those reps. And I know it's just three days and he was there for organized team activities, but, you know, there's not a lot of practice time right now. And practice is crucial. Practice execution becomes game reality. That's great. Also, this is why I thought it was a poor decision. Veteran offensive linemen do not take snaps in the preseason anymore.
Starting point is 00:06:57 So you're, I mean, September now, Julian for veterans, is a little bit like week three of the exhibition season. Without a doubt. You're kind of playing your way into the season. And what is Aaron Rogers? What's one of his strengths? His cadence. You know how hard it is to get a guy's cadence down on the, you know, offense
Starting point is 00:07:18 line when he's barking, screaming? Like, I'm going to be interested to see these pre-snap penalties early. in the year because Aaron relies on that cadence. He's one of the best ever to do it. We used to call, you know, one of the cadences, Green Bay, because we get a guy jump offside, try to get a free play. And Aaron's great at that, but that takes time
Starting point is 00:07:35 to get guys on the right page to understand his voice and his inflection. So, you know, I hope everything's good in his camp. I'm a huge Aaron Rogers fan, but it's not a good look. Yeah. By the way, Brady, speaking of timing and receivers, Tom talked about on the interview, prioritizing getting your top wide receiver the ball early in games.
Starting point is 00:07:59 We would always try to script so that everybody would feel like they were in the flow of the game. The last thing you want is your number one receiver to go two and a half quarters into a game and not see a ball to get one target because he's going to get discouraged. He's got to go out there. He's got to break the huddle. He's got to run out 25 yards to his alignment. He's got to run down the field as fast as he can, try to get open. He's got to run back to the huddle.
Starting point is 00:08:21 It's a lot of effort that he's putting into not getting the ball. When you can reward that guy early in the game and figure, okay, where is he at? How do I get him the ball? And let's talk about that. Was that really a focus? That was definitely a focus. You know, he kept on talking about the rhythm of the game. When you get into the beginning of the game, you know, everyone's got nerves.
Starting point is 00:08:41 Everyone's got a little anxiety. And what cleans up those nerves is a play. You know, you catch a ball, you get hit. That wakes you up. All right, now we're ready to really get into the flow of the game. And I remember time specifically after injuries or something with like a gronk or a me. When you got into that game, it was like, we need to get me the ball or we need to get someone who's been out for a while the ball early so you can gain that confidence. And also it's rewarding players in practice.
Starting point is 00:09:10 You know, there could be guys that are doing insane reps. They're doing great things in practice. And you try to get them the ball early. It's kind of like a reward factor as well. but getting the ball to your priority receivers was something that we always tried to do to get guys in the flow of things, get guys confidence going, to let guys know, hey, we're going to keep it going here. So you were recently at Patriots Camp.
Starting point is 00:09:34 What did you see? I saw a defense that was flying around. I saw a lot of communication out of the defense. I saw Jacoby Berset looking confident, calling great play, calling and communicating plays very well. And that's what you really want to see. in organized team activities. You want to see execution, operation,
Starting point is 00:09:55 like being able to get a play call in with a coach out of the huddle and communicating player to player, running plays on, you know, not just first down, second down, third down, but being having calling plays
Starting point is 00:10:08 like it's a game. They were doing a lot of that. It was really cool to see the new kickoff rule and then practicing that and the strategy of what people are going to be. It's a pooch kick now. Oh, it's a pooch kick.
Starting point is 00:10:23 You're going to see a lot of fireworks on this play because, you know, the touchback goes out to a 30, so they're incentivizing and trying to keep the ball in play. And then also you're going to see body types start changing, guys that can shed blocks because they're only 10 yards or five yards apart. You know, right there, you don't need the speed. You need guys that can shed blocks and make tackles. A lot of linebackers.
Starting point is 00:10:45 A lot of linebackers, good in space type guys. And just the strategy, like, are they going to squib it? Are they going to pooch it? Are they going to have, you know, I heard talks of Kansas City having a safety back there kicking it off because if they break that line, this is like a punt return now. You break that line, there's only one wave. The old kickoff, you'd have the wedge, you'd have your second wave, and then you'd have your safety wave. So you had to get through three.
Starting point is 00:11:13 You had a track. You'd find that track. You'd hit that track, and it was like NASCAR. You see smoke. You just bite your lip and you find the lane. and go and you may get blown up, but you may not with a lot of waves. Now it's like a pump return where everyone's on top of you. You get vertical.
Starting point is 00:11:28 You could make a one cut and get vertical, and you could be housing, and there's no safety. So, you know, it'll be interesting to see what they do with these kickers. Maybe find some guy that's a safety, finding these rugby guys. Because you don't need to have a great leg anymore. You don't need to have a great leg. You just need to be able to get that squib or in that kick zone area. So I was impressed. Drake May had some really good throws.
Starting point is 00:11:49 He looked a little rough. His footwork in college was dicey. What did you see? He had it pretty dialed the day I was there. I saw him make an endline in-cut in traffic, which is a tough play in the red area. So that's throwing an in-cut on the back of the end zone with other guys, other defenders, making the proper read on hitting that in-cut going to his third read. So that was like really cool to see.
Starting point is 00:12:13 But you also can't take too much with OTAs because everything's kind of scripted. You know, he goes in. We have our six plays, this period. You kind of know on this down and distance, the defense's going to give you this coverage. The mic call is going to be this. So the communication was very good for what I saw, but I didn't know how they were doing it behind the scenes.
Starting point is 00:12:36 They could have been prompting that. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win.
Starting point is 00:13:17 A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media.

Starting point is 00:15:19 Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life, one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS.
Starting point is 00:15:40 All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what? the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How hard can it be? Getting naked at 50 with the new guy. That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this.
Starting point is 00:16:16 out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura podcast network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne.
Starting point is 00:16:32 This is my best friend Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip, just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast.
Starting point is 00:16:43 We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey with all the snacks and drink. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a bogo. Well, then you got it. Do you want a white collar something here? Just hit it. Oh, what are y'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album?
Starting point is 00:17:01 Oh, come on. Could you believe? I would buy it. Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky I'm not a drug addict. You are. You are. I'm not an alcoholic.
Starting point is 00:17:15 You are. You are. You're lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team, and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Listen to Soccer Moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. 18 games is coming. The union now is aware of it.
Starting point is 00:17:36 They want a few more roster spots. I get it. That'll get 65, 64 more jobs. I'm for that. I also think 17 games didn't dilute the product. It's just we like our football. I would demand if I was a player another buy week. That feels realistic to me.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Let's just stretch it out. Super Bowls are mostly domes anyway, warmer weather, so it doesn't bother me. If you were a player, that would be two games added in a pretty short period of time. Would it make September more experimental? How would you view it as a player? No, you can get into this. All right, the beginning part of the season is going to be. like the preseason, but this is the national football league, you can't miss a game. You can't have
Starting point is 00:18:21 a one game, three game skid, or you're out of it. So you can kind of kiss that out the window, kick that out the window. What I really think the NFL, if they're going to go to this, which it's not making the game safer when you have large human beings that can run fast, that even if you change the rules are still trying to decapitate each other, it's not going to be safe. they better give us another two game checks. You know, I don't like this pro-rated. We're all right, we're just going to take your salary, and we're going to divide it by 18 now.
Starting point is 00:18:52 Right. Like, let's give some more pot. Let's give some more money to the pot for the fellas. Yeah. Let the boys eat. And, you know, then we could talk turkey because it's going to get there sooner or later. But, you know, I'm not a big fan of it.
Starting point is 00:19:05 I thought it's a grind to get through an NFL season. After week eight, you're... Everybody hurt. Everyone is hurt. everyone's banged up. It's 100% injury rate in this sport. And you can't go out and say you're trying to make the game safer, even if you're changing rules by adding games.
Starting point is 00:19:25 You know, it's J.J. Reddick got hired by the Lakers. He's inexperienced, but he's a former player and he's smart. Go to your entire career. You know, you had an older coach, an experience coach, but even as a position coach, if a guy comes in without a ton experience, but he's a bright guy. What does he need for a guy like you, a veteran, to buy in? He needs to have great information,
Starting point is 00:19:51 and he needs to have a presence in the meeting room. You know, like my last couple years, we had Mick Lombardi. He was our receiver coach, and I was like three years older than him. And, you know, like, I'm sitting here. And what Nick did to get my respect was, he would feed me information. He'd take care of the certain guys that needed to be taken care of, but it was all about how he tapered the meeting.
Starting point is 00:20:22 Like, what was giving me information that's going to make me better for this practice, for this game, for whatever we're getting into? So how you communicate to the player and the depth of the communication, the knowledge that you're giving to him, that is huge to get the respect of a guy. So, you know, if... It's interesting you say, like, what kind of information? That's fascinating. Just like being able to sum something up for the defense that we're about to go up against...
Starting point is 00:20:51 That you didn't know. That I didn't know. Giving me like, all right, well, you know, I'm going to study this guy, this defensive back. You know, he's going to come up to me and say, all right, watch his three offhand jams. He does that with a staggered stance. Like these are the things you should look. Like those types of little nibits, information's key, you know what I mean? And so if he could give me that and he showed me...
Starting point is 00:21:13 You know, and also with me, if it was a younger guy, like with Mick, I would get mad at him if he showed, like, old clips of other guys. I would sit and after the meeting, I'm like, hey, this is my meeting room. I want to see. I don't want to be watching Wes Walker and Rainy Mont. Like, we got examples of me doing this. Why? I like that.
Starting point is 00:21:30 You know what I mean? No, but. Confrontation. Confrontation. But, no, information, how he handles the room, and always being prepared and showing something that you haven't seen from that, from a coaching staff before. Like with Mick, he would also have these little funny things that he would do after the meeting to try to get guys together.
Starting point is 00:21:50 He'd have a history point of something that was going on, that time of the calendar year to get guys engaged. So everyone's got to bring a little something. But for me, it was always the information how he communicated to us. Finally, the Tom Brady Patriots Hall of Fame, big event. Huge. It was, what was it like to be that? What was your favorite moment? A favorite moment was really going into Foxborough into a sold-out stadium again.
Starting point is 00:22:21 You know, I've been removed for two years going on three and being with guys that you competed with at a high level to celebrate the flag carrier. You know, that was just a special moment. There was so many guys that I haven't seen in two to ten years. You know, I mean, some of the early Patriot guys that I played with, the Steve Neals, the Matt Lights, the Logan Mankins. Everybody was there?
Starting point is 00:22:46 Huh? Everybody was there? A lot of guys, I would say there had to have been 150, 200 plus guys. Wow. I mean, there's a lot of guys that I haven't seen in so long. And, you know, to hear Tom, you know, listening and watching Tom when he speaks, you know, and I've been around him for so long, but he still inspires me. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:23:07 Just because the one thing about Tom Brady is everything he's, says he practices he practices what he preaches like so when you sit there and you say bro you really going to tell me not to eat a strawberry he really doesn't eat him and he really believes that or if he tells you something you know you got to do this when he when he talked about working smarter in your interview how he became such an efficient preparer like you always learned something from him through his example and just how of a stand-up guy he really is i you know he's a genuine dude and it was so great to just get to hear all the stories from other guys and really celebrate him. And it was great to see Coach Belichick there once again in the same room with them.
Starting point is 00:23:51 You know, I love those tension times when you see old Bill and Mr. RKK and Tom. You know, that's just fun. It was a fun night. It was great to see everyone too. And it was sold out. The fans were going nuts. Oh, God. It was great.
Starting point is 00:24:08 I mean, it was a fun night. Good seeing you, man. Always pleasure. He's got a podcast, Games with Names, a new episode every Tuesday. When's mine come out? You know, we had to save yours for a special week, you know? You know how it's kind of, there's low weeks? We throw in coward in the low week.
Starting point is 00:24:26 We're getting ratings, baby. My middle name is Lull. That's all I am. Low, Massachusetts. Great seeing you. Jay Mack with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news.
Starting point is 00:24:37 This is the Herdline News. Julian told me he wants me on the pod next because, you know, you're going to give it a bump and then they want the McIntyre bounce after that. Oh, the McIntyre bounce. Yeah, that's a thing. Legendary. Yes, yes, indeed. Let's start in the WNBA, Colin, where Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have another matchup on Sunday. It'll be round three.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Clark is 2 and 0 so far this season against Reese. But the hype right now is around the price to get in the building. I saw that. The average ticket selling for $253. That's $18. 37% higher than their average ticket price and 116% more expensive than a Bulls home game. Isn't that crazy? Listen, the most expensive ticket is on sale for $9,000.
Starting point is 00:25:23 I'm assuming that's a floor seat like right next to the... That is nuts. To the bench or something. But a tougher ticket than a Chicago Bulls game. That is, that's got to be a rough one to stomach if you're a Chicago Bulls play. Well, I mean, listen, we know this. We have seen this explosion. The Taylor Swift Tour.
Starting point is 00:25:39 where all of a sudden it's like how much and for how she stayed in LA for seven events used to be like a rock band comes in for two shows like this is the reality of our economy is why I say before everybody tells me how bad the economy is nobody real saying that
Starting point is 00:25:54 yeah but I mean who is I'm watching these stadiums I'm on planes people are they love sports in America and they will pay top dollar for it this is great for the WNBA should be a good one hopefully nobody goes after Clark again, you know, the Chicago Sky Team.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Last two meetings. Little chippy. Jabbs, yeah. So, listen, Sunday's a good day in sports. Let's get to the next story. Last night, Major League Baseball and Fox put on a great show at the legendary Rick Woodfield, highlighted by some Willie Mays tributes, incredible pregame ceremony, some cool player arrivals at appearances by former MLB legends like Barry Bonds and Ken Griffey Jr.
Starting point is 00:26:37 They did a pretty cool retro version of the broadcast of the fifth inning. Do you see that? That was cool. That was really cool. It was just an all-around smart event from Major League Baseball. I thought this was great. You know, and the other thing is Fox went to Major League Baseball several years ago. And they said, baseball's great, but you've got to create moments.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Like, because the All-Star game was the highest rating, and the home run Derby did well. And so they did the Field of Dreams game. And then this year it was the Phillies and Mets. in London. I almost watched the entire game. And then there's last night. When you create urgency, when you create a jewel event, fans watch the games.
Starting point is 00:27:18 But America, everything is so we're all distracted on our phone. So you have to sometimes manufacture urgency. And when you do, people come pouring back into baseball. So this is just, I love these five or six little events every year. I thought the London
Starting point is 00:27:35 game was great. It was just totally new. Yeah. I think the players like this. And we are headed toward a Yankees Dodgers World Series. Sorry for your Braves. You know, they're not going to see you. Probably not going to. Probably not going to.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Final story is Colin. How about this? Eric B. Enemy, long-time offensive coordinator. He was in Washington last year, and they had a policy where he forbid players from wearing backwards hats under any circumstance. Love it. Listen, Dan Quinn loves a good backwards hat. Here he is in the picture, in the video, wearing a backwood.
Starting point is 00:28:07 He has relaxed the backwards hat policy, and now he is, I don't know if it's in the face of what Beenemy had, but... By the way, it's interesting. Beenemy from Kansas City. Winning organization, that's where Eric came from. Andy Reid, interesting. The best coach in the league had a backwards hat quiet policy. I mean, where did Beenemy get this from? Maybe you're just trying to...
Starting point is 00:28:33 No, it's interesting. Successful coach Andy Reid, perhaps. gave him that information. So what do you think about Quinn saying, hey, no, we're going backwards hats. I'm going to do them in interviews. You know how I feel about backwards hat, backwards life. Let's turn it around and get going in the right direction. It's funny, though, that it's actually a thing in the league.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Okay, whatever. I mean, this is one of your landmark takes, the backwards hat. It's not a landmark take. It's America's most common sense take. If you looked at your Mount Rushmore of takes, this is one of your four. The backwards hat guy, like that's your best known. It's funny that an NFL coach had a policy, and I assure you it's not the only one.
Starting point is 00:29:13 Well, there was no trickle down from the policy, no impact. They didn't win any games. It didn't improve the culture. Well, it would help if he had the guy a quarterback. Oh, okay. Didn't have his quarterback. J-Mack with the news. Well, that's the news.
Starting point is 00:29:26 And thanks for stopping by. The Herd-Lie News. Save big in your water and energy bills with a tankless water heater. They're called Navian. Go to tankless made simple.com. Starting point is 00:30:21 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win.
Starting point is 00:30:45 I don't care which I'll say it. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th. Starting point is 00:32:32 whole. This podcast is for you to hear more. Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcast presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. This is my best friend Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Now a redacted amount of years later. We're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey with all the snacks
Starting point is 00:33:07 and drink. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a bogo. Well, then you got it. Do you want a white collar or something here? Just take it. What are y'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh, I would. I would buy it.
Starting point is 00:33:22 Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky. I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You're lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crime jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a paramed apocal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be? with the Adamene Arriva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate
Starting point is 00:34:08 Midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How can it be getting naked at 50 with a new guy? That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask,
Starting point is 00:34:44 How Hard Can It Be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultur Podcast Network available on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's one of my favorite segments of the week. Our final segment on Friday, former news. newspaper, Inc. Stained Wretch. Jason McIntyre moved to television and digital and gambling, a much more promising career.
Starting point is 00:35:12 And he still makes headlines, though, in his spare time. So let's go. A lot of news out there, international soccer, NBA coaching hires. We call it tomorrow's headlines today. What's going to be the headline for Euro 2024? Yeah. So Spain has looked amazing so far. Germany's looked very good.
Starting point is 00:35:31 However, my pick the headline. Will be. Pitch, please. England dismisses Eurofield. I thought that one might have got scrapped for language. But, listen, England has not looked great in the first two matches. No. They get early goals. They get a little complacent. I'm not saying they're perking the bus officially, but they're just, they're happy to get to the finish line up with a one-nothing win. That being said, they'll need to step up their game in the knockout rounds. There's a great match today. France, I believe, against Netherlands here, kicking off in 20 minutes.
Starting point is 00:36:02 France is another team to watch. Mbapapé will play. He will. With the broken nose, he's going to wear a mask. Wow. But England has the talent. The manager, you know, he's getting a little question. I know you don't like complaining about the coach,
Starting point is 00:36:14 but the England manager has come under fire in recent days. But I do like England to win the euros. They lost in PKs last time. Tough one, but I got him here. Tomorrow's headlines today. What's going to be the headline for USA and Bolivia on Sunday? I'll be on vacation, but I'll be glued. You will.
Starting point is 00:36:30 Yes, obviously. Fox has Copa. USA Bolivia. Boy, Bolivia, what do we know about them? The headline will be golekeepers. US beat the bones off Bolivia. Colin, I found this stat, dug it up. Bolivia has one win this century at Copa America. So the U.S. will win this game. This was a very favorable early schedule. Yeah, it's like, give them a layup, a tomato can, whatever you want. They're going to win this game. The only question is how much. I have it as 2-0. You get that plus 360, depending where you're gambling.
Starting point is 00:37:00 But I think the U.S. wins this kind of convincingly. Defense shows out. It's all just a work up to a meeting with potentially Brazil or Argentina in the knockout stages. The U.S.A. is going to be live. Colin, they've got a shot to get to the semifinals. This is a good team. Burrhalter knows the pressure's on. I would keep an eye on G.
Starting point is 00:37:19 Cannot wait to watch this. Yes, yes. Very exciting. I think the U.S. handles Bolivia easily. All right. Tomorrow's headlines today. Draft's coming up. Very international draft.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Fascinating. What's going to be the first page? There's no Wembaima at the top of this draft. No, there's not. Cooper Flagg next year's a superstar. This year's a tough one. The headline will be French-kissed. Hawks-locked lips with Zachary.
Starting point is 00:37:44 Risa Shea is his name. He's a 19-year-old teenager. I had Fran Fraschilla on my podcast this week. He does a lot of European basketball coverage. He thinks Zach could be, could be Paul George in five years. He's one of these long six-foot-nine wings. But again, he's a teenager. Major. Paul George coming out of Fresno State had played in college for a few years.
Starting point is 00:38:04 Like this kid is young. He's not going to turn the Hawks franchise around in a year or two. And again, a long prototypical Boston Celtics, Jalen Brown-type body, Jason Tatum on the wing, can guard guards, can defend forward. This is a good draft, not a great draft. I know a lot of people are going to knock it. We'll do some draft coverage next week. But I like the Hawks rebuilding now where they trade, Tray Young. I think we'll get to that here in the coming week. tomorrow's headlines today. Well, I mean, they're in the news.
Starting point is 00:38:34 How about the Lakers draft night? Yeah, so they're keeping their pick at 17. I guess New Orleans said, we don't want it. You're going to stink worse next year. You can have this year's. So what are they doing in the second round? The headline will be. Here's Brony.
Starting point is 00:38:48 Shining example, bust through L.A. Door. You've had a couple interesting takes on how they're holding him out of workouts. Like teens are inviting him. He said, I'm good. I'm all right. We know the Lakers want him. The question is, does somebody jump up and say, hey, screw LeBron, forget clutch.
Starting point is 00:39:07 We're drafting Brony. Would somebody do that? My guess is going to be no. And LeBrony falls to the Lakers at 55. J.J. Reddick gets him, gets LeBron. And now you've got a year, Colin, where the Lakers are a great storyline around the league. You've got the first father-son tandem ever. You've got a podcaster turned head coach in J.J. Reddick.
Starting point is 00:39:27 And you've got a Lakers team that I don't know. Are they going to be good? Are they going to be bad? they're a fascinating team to watch this offseason. And I think next season, I know people like Jason, they're not good. Why are you guys talking Lakers? They're going to have LeBron and his son. That's not fascinating.
Starting point is 00:39:41 What do you say? You're in the interesting business? Yeah. What's more interesting than a father's son duo playing in the NBA? Finally, tomorrow's headlines today, all around a new coach, J.J. Redick, I'm interested in the year one with a roster with no shooters, which is not built for J.J. You're expecting a bumpy landing, if you will. I'll just say, I think this roster's reshaped here in the coming weeks in the Lakers season. It's going to be a good one.
Starting point is 00:40:09 The headline will be podcast host leads Lakers to Western Conference Finals. They're going back, Cowherd. They're going back. I'm positive. And again, I'll go back to what I said, first hour. If I would have told you a year ago today that the Mavs will be meeting the Timberwolves in the conference finals, you would have said, come on. Anthony Edwards was not a star.
Starting point is 00:40:28 The Mavs had missed the playoffs. the Lakers are going to be fine. I know we don't expect LeBron and AD both to be healthy, but they're one or two moves away from being like a 45-48 win team, Colin. Don't laugh, man. They're close. And I know we love the West. They're going to all beat each other up.
Starting point is 00:40:46 There's no dominant team. The Nuggets are not winning 60 games in the West. The Timberwolves are not winning 60. All the Lakers need to do is avoid the play-in, get in the playoffs, and I do believe they will be live with two all-NBA players. and an interesting X's-O's coach in Reddick to make a leap back to the Western Conference Fathers. You know what?
Starting point is 00:41:05 I like heading off to my vacation on a positive note. Yeah. And sometimes snarky J-Mack coming in. The glass is not only half full, it's moving toward the top on the Lakers. Yeah. Well, remember, the Clippers this year were good. What are they, four-seed? If Paul George leaves, they're not a top eight team in the West.
Starting point is 00:41:24 With James Hardin and Kauai Leonard, we don't know how many games they're going to So Clippers could easily take a tumble, no? Room for the Lakers to slide on up. And OKC's not going to be that good again this year, are they? Yeah, I think they are. I think their players are all ascending. Plus, Alex Caruso, plus they'll make another move. They should make the AD move, I suggested earlier.
Starting point is 00:41:47 What do the sun's going to be good? They'll be better than they were. How's rickety Bradley Beale? Well, they'll be better than they were. Minnesota will probably move off Carl Anthony Towns and find a more reliable two score. So I think the West is only getting better. Golden State's not going to just sit there.
Starting point is 00:42:04 They're going to make a move. So I think there's a lot. I think we're going to have you. A lot of times the NBA offseason is a lot of talk and very little action. I think when you watch the Western Conference, the talent, the depth, you've got to make a move. I mean, they're firing these coaches and GMs left and right. You think you're going to sit on your hands in the West and survive? So I think Portland and Houston and San Antonio really talented players on those will all be better.
Starting point is 00:42:33 I think Houston next year is a live playoff team. Pelicans keep your eye on them. So if you're in the West, maybe the East is different. But if you're in the West, you have got to be aggressive. Just standing pat, you're going backwards. There's no plateauing. You're making moves or you're going backwards in the West. And with LeBron, they're going to be moving forward probably aggressively here in the coming days.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Now they got the coach. They got the draft, they got free agency. I'm bullish on the Lakers. I can tell. Well, steer the shit, my friend. Good luck to you. Be safe, everybody. I'm going to take a couple of weeks off.
Starting point is 00:43:05 Enjoy the family and the summer. Live in Los Angeles, it's the herd. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
