This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor?
It signals to the world that you're not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.

Oh, here we go.
All sorts of breaking news today.
We are live in Los Angeles.
It's our number three, wherever you may be, however you may be listening, IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, FS1.
JMAQ is joining us.
So the Chicago Bears did something yesterday I loved.
They moved off a great player, Roquan Smith, and said, you know what, we want picks.
So now, you know, we entered the morning.
They had a one, two, twos.
They had a three, two, fours, two fives, and a hundred million in cap space.
Well, one of those twos, their own, not the Ravens one, one of their own, they said,
we want to go get Chase Claypool.
This just happened.
So here's why Chase Claypool to the Bears is good, Jay Mack.
Darnell Mooney, their best receiver, who's, I think, a two, is small.
Claypool's a house.
He's like six, four, two, whatever.
he is. He's a house. He is a big
physical presence. You can use him on jet sweeps.
He can put him in traffic.
Claypool is a man. He is a big
body. Mooney, it's more
clever, right? You don't want him taking a beating.
So now you have
Armstrong Herbert backs, nice
backs. You may draft another one,
nice backs. Cole commits, good, solid.
I go spend money on another tight end.
Now you've got
two receivers that are
legit. Been in the league for a couple years, can make
plays. Claypool, the big physical
guy, kind of a Michael Pittman.
You know what his nickname was, right?
MapleTron, because he's from Canada and he's kind of built like Megatron a little bit.
He could do the jet sweeps.
No, he's a big, now he's very emotional player, and some people have criticized him, big, strong,
reminds me a little bit physically of a Michael Pittman of Indianapolis.
Maybe a two, but is a big, strong physical present.
And by the way, Mooney's a young guy, Claypool's a young guy, commits a young guy,
Armstrong's a young guy.
John Montgomery is a young guy.
Fields is a young guy.
The O line is young guy.
So you're building this thing.
You don't have disgruntled veterans.
It's a bunch of young kids.
Most of them haven't been paid yet.
They're ascending.
Chicago's building an offense now.
Not a lot of big money on the offense.
Okay?
So what does that mean?
You're not going to have disgruntled, you know, diva on the team.
It's a bunch of young kids want to get paid, working their tails off, building an
offense for the future. And by the way, I was thinking about this,
J. Mack. Josh Allen popped. Year three. He got
Stefan Diggs. Tua's pop this year.
Year three, Tyreek Hill. Jalen
Hertz, year three, pops, A.J. Brown.
Joe Burrow, year two, popped.
Jamar Chase.
Kyler Marie, D'Andre Hopkins. Popped. By the way,
who hasn't popped? Mack, Joan, Zach Wilson.
I mean, seriously, where's their star receiver?
Yeah. So what Chicago, and I don't know if Chase Claypool,
he's not Tyree Kill.
No.
Or Jamar Chase.
But what I'm saying is he's a really, it could be a one, could be, but he feels like a
great two.
He's a big physical kid.
So now you got this young, Luke gets, he's a super smart offensive coordinator.
I think he's really doing it with smoke and mirrors.
Now you don't have to do with as many smoking mirrors.
Because once now, if Chase becomes Mooney and Chase, we win games with those guys.
Now all the Dante Pettus guys, they become threes and fours.
They, they now.
should draft another receiver
and I would go buy a left tackle
or buy a center. The offensive line
needs a lot of work. But it wasn't...
Leguil regionally fits in Chicago. Notre Dame
kid, right? He's kind of... He can excel
in the bad weather games. He's perfect for that city.
And remember, Iberflux built
an anonymous defense in Indy
with not a lot of star players and they were
very good. I think he thinks
he's, Roquan Smith, we can get him out of here.
Robert Quinn, we can get him out of it. I can fit
to find guys to fit my scheme
and we can spend money on the offense. Well, and it
Interesting. Usually I like giving whatever side of the ball the coach is best at. Andy Reed
Defense, Sean McDermott. Andy Reed offense, Sean McDermott defense. I like giving them toys on their
side of the ball. But Chicago's like, we're so depleted. We may have to put the toys on the
offensive side as the league is pivoting to offense because Iber Fluse, I think, has done a great job
with what he has defensively. They drafted a cornerback. He's excellent.
a safety from Penn State. He's a star.
So this is like in Chicago, this may be, you know, this may not translate.
They're not as good as Minnesota.
And Minnesota just got T.J. Hawkinson today.
A really, really good tie-down.
He's had some injury stuff.
But now the Vikings, Vikings now feel there in that 7-8 team Super Bowl bubble,
like the Niners do, like the Bills do, like the Chiefs who went and got Tony.
that's when you give up picks.
Like we feel like we are in this elite bubble.
Baltimore, by the way, feels that.
They go get a star playmaker defensively.
So I love what the Bears did.
Albert Breer earlier talked about Hawkinson.
And it is interesting.
The Green Bay indivision gave the Vikings,
Adairius Smith.
He is now their pass-rusher phenom.
And the Lions in division give the Vikings Hawkinson.
It used to be a no-no.
Maybe they don't respect Minnesota or something,
but Albert Breer on that deal.
What Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer left for them in Minnesota
was pretty good from a cultural standpoint,
pretty good from a talent standpoint.
And that was one of the big reasons why they didn't tear anything down.
They said, we're going to build on this,
and we're going to invest in the locker room that we have
because we believe the right guys are already here.
And the 6-1 start reinforces that I don't think people realize
there's three games up on the past.
backers right now in the NFC North, like a couple more things happen. And that thing could be over.
You look at the Vikings now and this is really just more or less moving two picks down, like you
said. It's moving a second down to the fourth round and a third down to the fourth round.
And to get a guy who's got the ability to be an elite tight end who was a top 10 pick.
You know, I really love the move for the Viking. By the way, this morning, this is really funny.
I just noticed this. So this morning is a staff. We put about an hour and a half in every morning,
two hours, do prep and what do we want to talk about.
We knew we were going to do the Bears topic.
And one of the things I was talking about in the morning meeting was,
you got to give Justin Fields a chance.
Do you guys remember this, Ryan and J-Mack?
I put down on a piece of paper.
If I was the Bears,
I would draft Jordan Addison with my first pick from USC at wide receiver.
Can you see that?
And I'd go get Chase Claypool.
I didn't notice it until that was like four hours ago.
So my takeaway was Chase Claypool.
Claypool was going to be available because Kenny Pickett loves this rookie receiver from Georgia,
and he also appears to love the tight end for the Steelers.
And so it's like, you know, the odd man out is Chase Claypool.
He's like, hey, come on, I'm not going to get the ball here.
Our offensive line stinks, and I don't trust our quarterback, and he likes the other receiver in the tight end.
So Chase Claypool was there for the taking, and the bears jumped on it.
Does it say anything to you that Kenny Pickett?
What say again?
Sorry, Kenny Pickett just announced, hey, maybe we're not studying enough, we're not ready,
and now they trade Claypool like 24 hours later.
Is he the guy that's not studying?
I don't know.
Doesn't know the plays?
Not a great look for Claypool.
And I'm a Claypool guy.
I had one of the Jets to draft him when he was coming out of Notre Dame.
He has big moments.
Denzel Mims instead.
Mims a bust.
Thanks for reminding me, Colin.
Bust.
And oh, by the way, the Jets.
I'm so excited.
The Jets did try to get Tyreek Hill this past off season.
So they have the quarterback on the run.
rookie deal and they were going for the receiver.
Tyree Kil just wanted the Miami Dolphins because of the taxes.
Yeah.
And, you know, it's worked out for him.
What a day for the Bears.
You know what?
You're going to find out if Justin Fields can play.
You're going to find out if he can play because now you got pieces.
This is fun.
It's what sports is all about.
The other thing is that Steve Nash, basically the Nets and Steve Nash have mutually
agreed to part ways.
That means Steve said, you know, you can fire me.
but if we mutually part, I'll give you back some money.
That's usually how that goes.
You know, I'll give you a little this, this.
We'll end.
It's a nice PR thing.
It's not as ugly as I got fired.
I'll give you some money back.
Steve Nash has probably got a net worth over $50, $100 million.
So Steve Nash basically had told people that I know that he was, it was really struggling.
It was a really hard team to coach.
This would be a hard team to coach if you were Phil Jackson or Eric Spolstra or Ty
Lou or Graham.
Greg Popovich. If you're a rookie head coach,
because let's be honest about this,
Brad Stevens was a great coach.
Kyrie Irving didn't respect him.
Why? He didn't have rings.
So Steve Nash, like Brad Stevens, plenty bright enough.
But in the end, you know, Kyrie only worked in this league
when LeBron took over the calves and said, it's my operation.
That's when Kyrie was good.
Kyrie Star in Boston doesn't work.
Kyrie, star in Brooklyn doesn't work.
Kyrie Cleveland, pre-Lebron doesn't work.
Kyrie at Duke played eight games.
So Kyrie Irving's history is you can't build around him.
He's just talented and, you know, he pushes back.
Remember, Kyrie Irving and KD before the season started.
Remember what they said before they hired Nash?
Remember this a couple years ago?
We don't really need a coach.
I mean, they dismissed the position.
They dismissed coaching.
We don't need a coach.
You don't think the Warriors as talent as they are.
You don't think Steve Kerr adds value to that team with all the personalities.
It should be noted.
Kyrie Irving met with the Nets owner yesterday.
Remember Kyrie Irving had that insane anti-Semitic tweet?
Yeah.
And the owner called him out.
So they met yesterday.
And now Steve Nash has gone today.
Colin, I'll just put that out there for you and let it sit.
And now there's a lot of reports from some NBA.
reporters who have been on the show before that
Eme Udoka from the Celtics
is the front runner. He's a great coach.
He's a great coach. I wonder if he knows
what he's getting into in Brooklyn.
Apparently he's close with KD. You know, coaches are very
funny about this. When they lose jobs,
they have this like self-esteem. I've got
to get a job back. I would not take
the Brooklyn Nets job. What's the number that would get you the
Brooklyn Nets job? If I said $10 million to
coach him for the rest of the year, would you do it?
Well,
if he gets fired again,
do you get a third opening?
So because of the situation in Boston,
he blew a great opening.
So if IMAOco goes to Brooklyn,
and I don't think he could work with anybody,
Phil Jackson, now you're O for two.
One, a personal transgression.
The other one is a mess,
and you'll get blamed for it, by the way, right?
But you obviously no coaching.
You did great with the sound.
I'm not doubting his coaching, yeah.
But based on how Boston ended and the ugliness,
and he looked not mature enough for the job,
you better make sure the second job works.
And oh, by the way, people say, oh, I'll coach the net, surely.
Give me 10 million bucks.
You've got to be a shoot around with these guys before the games, after the games,
on the team flights.
You've got to be around Kyrie Irving for like the next six months, maybe eight if you go to the finals.
I said, good luck.
I said this last year.
Kyrie is the only superstar in my life.
I would trade for rotational players.
Get it.
He is a toxic culture killer.
Nick Wright earlier on Steve Nash and how he was absolutely doomed from the start.
Both these things can be true.
Steve Nash was in an impossible position, and Steve Nash, in two plus years as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, has done a miserable job.
Both of those things are true.
I feel for him, everyone likes him.
He was an abysmal NBA head coach.
For two and a half years, they have been an awful defensive team,
and they don't run an offense.
The offense is simply,
eh, gave the ball to Durant, let him do something.
Give the ball to Kyrie, let him do something.
And his playoff adjustments were simply,
can Kevin Durant play all 48 minutes?
Maybe let's try it.
So he was not doing a good job.
He was also dealt an unwinnable hand.
No question there.
Trent Dolphers around the corner.
KJ. Wright, the former pro bowler Super Bowl champ.
What to make of the Seahawks?

Do you remember when Diana Ross
double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're
in the pursuit of the thing, we
get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we
are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it. And we don't
know when we've done enough. Because people
scoreboard watch. Life becomes about
wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross.
Because you find it important to be a good person

you're afraid? Because that's two different
intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

By the way, as I've been talking about the Bears' weapons, the running back, David Montgomery,
for the life of me, I have no idea why I called him Armstrong a couple times. I have no idea.
I'm talking about a million names, a million trades, stuff happening.
David Montgomery, good back. I like him. Herbert, the kid behind him, Virginia Tech.
good back like him, a little small, but a clever twitchy athlete.
Okay.
Let's go to Trent Dilfer, podcast Beyond the X's and O's with Trent Dilfer.
All right, so you know the bears, Justin Fields, pretty well.
I'm 60-40.
It's going to work.
I don't know.
But I do think getting Chase Claypool with Cole Kamek, with Mooney, with David Montgomery.
Now I look at it and I think, okay, now I can tell in the next 10 weeks, do I have something
or not. Does that seem reasonable why they made the move to you?
I think it's reasonable. I'll go one step further. I'm 95-5
that this is going to work with fields. In fact, clip this right now and let's play
at week eight of next year. I believe the Bears are in a playoff
contention. I believe they become one of the better teams than
NFC, this time next year. I think the rest of this year, they're still
laying a really strong foundation. I've been watching every single
show out of Chicago. And to study them, you really understand
their limitations up front.
Why they play the way they do.
You understand their limitations in the passing game.
When Mooney's really the only guy that can get open on his own,
Commet is a really interesting piece.
He's a true inline tight end that also has a threat in the passing game.
And now you add a clay pool who I'd call a push receiver.
He's a guy you push him down the field.
He needs to get his gate opened up, use that big size, use that length.
He's a vertical middle of the field, eater upper type guy.
Yeah.
The other thing, too, the bears want physical.
blocking receivers. They run a lot of the
truck play, the toss crack play to the
strong side. They need that Z
receiver to be big physical, almost
like an H-back tight-end presence.
I think this is a great fit, and I really think
the bears are going to be good at this time
next year. T.J. Hawkinson,
Lyons' tight-end is now a
Viking. So the Niners get
McCaffery. I think Minnesota looks
at that and thinks, all right,
if you want to keep up with the Joneses in the
NFC, you go get another
weapon. I'd tell you something. I
I'm surprised Green Bay, if they don't make a move here in the next hour and a half,
Hawkinson's a good player.
Vikings have some, I mean, this is a real team, right?
This is the Vikings Division.
I mean, at some point, people are going to stop talking about the Packers.
This is the Vikings Division.
Bears obviously rebuilding Packers have proven this, this hasn't worked with losing Devante Adams.
They haven't played as good at defense, I think, as they thought they were going to play.
This is the Vikings Division.
They're rolling.
Kevin's done a great job with this team.
they have an identity. Kirk Cousins has played incredibly efficient and still has splash play in him.
He's a guy that not everybody loves because he doesn't have the great athletic traits.
He just continues to deal and surgically take apart his opponent.
So I really like the Vikings, like what they're doing. I think this is a big pickup.
Okay, so you've been a big fan of Tua. There's no question when the bill's got Josh Allen,
Stefan Diggs, and when Jalen Hertz got A.J. Brown, and Tua gets Wals.
model, and now we may see it with
Claypool and Fields, is
that you get, Burrow got
Jamar Chase, they all
pop. And my
guess is
a young quarterback
as he's learning progressions.
You give him a star receiver,
and that's the easy one. Tyler Murray's like,
I know where I can go 15 times
a game. It creates a simplicity
and a clarity. That's my guess. Not only are they
great players, but I could argue
a young quarterback trend could use it more than an old quarterback in his 11th year.
But it seems like the star receiver with a young quarterback like changes the quarterback as much as the team.
It really does, especially when you have that type of beep beep speed with Tyreek Hill and Waddle.
And these guys are two of the most explosive athletes in the league.
You had Mike McDaniel, who don't forget, Mike McDaniel's calling card is the run game.
I mean, he's the run boy genius.
in the Shanahan tree.
So they want to have a high volume of runs.
They're very creative in the run game.
And now you have that type of beep, beep speed on both sides or the same side.
And you put the defense in a ton of conflict.
You're the great left tackle.
So the left side's locked down.
It's what Tua needs.
Two is never going to be the guy that drops back nine yards in the pocket and throws
it 55 yards in the air.
But he is going to absolutely shreds you from 12 to 30 yards in the middle of football field
with his timing, with his vision, with his quick release, his accuracy.
And now you've put people around that can catch the ball at 20 and turn it into 45.
And that's what you're seeing.
You're seeing these mid-range action plays, putting a lot of conflict in the middle of the football field defenders,
and Waddle and Tyree Kill just dominating that space.
And then the tight end's a good player in the red zone.
He's an adequate blocker.
I think they'll upgrade to another big, you know, big in-line tight end to pour some gasoline on the run game.
the dolphins aren't going away offensively.
There's no precedent for Gino Smith.
Bust Backup Star.
How do you explain it? Why?
I actually think there is a precedent, actually.
I was doing a show this morning, Matthew Hasselback.
So Matthew was traded to Green Bay, I mean, from Green Bay to Seattle.
I was signed there after the Super Bowl.
Did not work out for about a year and a half.
I get his contract.
I become the starter.
Matthew did one thing I'll never forget.
He went and did the lonely work instead of feeling,
Sorry for himself.
Every day of practice, he got better.
He bought in.
He studied other quarterbacks.
He recognizes flaws.
And then when I tore my Achilles and he took over, he was a different player in every realm.
He was already talented, but now he became a quarterback.
He became a leader.
He became a dude.
And he played 18 years in league.
My opinion, Matthews were the most underrated players at quarterback in the last two decades.
Gino's kind of taken on that same thing.
He got kicked in the face.
He went to work.
He didn't whine about it.
He studied other players.
He did the lonely work, and now you're seeing the benefit of that.
Now, is he a nine-time pro-baller?
I don't think so.
But I think he's a high-quality starter in this league because of the lonely work he did when he was kind of kicked in the teeth and pushed to the curb instead of feeling sorry for himself, he went to work.
Finally, you're a coach, Lipscomb Academy head football coach, Nashville, Tennessee.
You have an off-season.
You know what you have.
You know who graduated.
If in your league, if you got, all right, we got this kid, he plays like Christian McCaffrey, make it work.
I was surprised how quickly, even the first game, like two days later, he had like 10 touches.
Are you surprised?
He's like he became Debo in like 12 days or whatever it was.
So here's why I'm not.
Normally I would be, but I'm not with this situation.
Kyle and his coaches are some of the best coaches in the league and they're great teachers.
They value teaching.
They're not just raw, raw guys, scheme guys.
They actually teach football at the 49ers.
Christian McCaffrey is from the Stanford tree.
He's got a great pedigree with his family, not just his dad.
People who get his mom is the best athlete in the family.
So he's got this great athletic pedigree.
He's a learner at Stanford.
David Shaw put a ton on Christian McCaffrey.
He was a receiver.
He was a slot back.
He was a running back.
He did everything.
So his high capacity to learn.
The 49ers know this.
in David Shaw's backyard. So there's this teaching element of the Niners staff. There's this
Christian McCaffrey. He's not just a great athlete. He's also a great learner. It's not
unrealistic to think that he can absorb this entire playbook in a matter of a couple weeks.
It might take some guys four to six weeks. Give Christian a couple weeks and you're going to feel
like he's going to feel as if he's been a nineer for the last two years. That's a great story.
Great background on that. Trent Dilfer, Super Bowl champ beyond the X's and O's with Trent
Dilfer's his podcast. It's why we bring him.
him on great seeing you, Trent.
Thanks, brother.
Yeah, the McAfrey family is like unbelievable.
Mom, dad, kids, everybody.
Everybody.
Yeah, they are great.
JMAQ with the news.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the heard-my news.
There was another trade in the NFL.
Colin has not been on social, guys, so he's just seeing this for the first time.
What?
Denver has traded Bradley Chubb to the Miami.
Dolphins.
So the Dolphins want a pass rusher to get Josh Allen.
Now they get Bradley Chubb.
Now it cost him a first round pick, the pick that they got from San Francisco.
So a good first round pick.
Now, we just talked about this.
So Denver got a first round pick back.
They need picks back.
They gave them all up for us.
So, but Bradley Chub, pretty damn good pass thrushisher.
So Miami leads football games without offense.
So pass rushers are valuable.
Denver's trailing in games for the time.
being, Bradley Chubb does you
less good. So for the time being,
they replenish
a first round pick
in Miami. Hey, hats
off to Miami going for it. They're going all in. They're going
all in. Good for them. Love it. So their
pass rush now includes Christian Wilkins, a kid
out of Clemson. Emmanuel Agbao, who's
pretty good. Melvin Ingram, who's been good.
So listen, again, we didn't
mention this, but like, Josh Allen is the
guy. Right. Right. You need
either a central linebacker to spy him or a pass rush
to get to him.
Miami, smart move getting Bradley Chubb.
Big guy to go after Josh Allen.
And now, Roquant Smith, I think is a great get for the Ravens.
You spy Josh Allen.
Even Patrick Mahomes is mobile.
If you did an All-Star team, just on Buffalo and Miami players, if you took the best
dolphins and the best bills, now most of the defense would be Buffalo, much of the offense,
obviously, just think of the receiving core between the bills and the dolphins in the NFL.
Stefan Diggs, Tyreek Hill, Jalen Waddle.
Your tight end could be Gaseki and Dawson Knox.
I mean, the talent now on Miami in Buffalo, I feel bad for the Jets and Patriots.
Sorry, I do.
I'm surprised the Jets haven't shipped Elijah Moore, but we got about 30 minutes left at the trade deadline.
It's been pretty crazy.
NIFL not usually this much action.
Well, the GMs now are young and aggressive.
They used to be old.
They're being told 90 minutes.
But just one of their note, Brandon Cook's not at practice today for personal reasons.
Everybody's waiting.
Lovy Smith is out saying,
Brandon Cook's on our team right now
and, you know, all the things.
I think, how about this?
Let's guess.
I say Dallas.
Well, apparently there's a report now
that Green Bay was in on Chase Claypool
and what tilted it was
the Bears saying,
we'll give up our pick in the second round.
So this is like the 37th pick.
Instead of the one they got from the Ravens,
they give up 50-something.
Theirs, which is higher.
That's a big price.
So Green Bay now, they had been going for Claypool.
They got no receivers.
Everybody's hurt.
They got rookies.
It's dicey.
All right.
Let's get to the other stuff.
So we'll start with the Bears trade.
The biggest move, obviously, so far, Claypool to the Bears, Lions, T.J. Hawkinson to the Vikings.
It's been an exciting deadline.
I am curious.
What do you think this does for the Vikings?
Do they move up at all, if they could, in the NFC?
We still agree that's Eagles, Niners.
Eagles Niners have the best rosters.
Do I believe, so now, because the Eagles and the Nineers,
Niners not only have good players, they have stars, star power.
So my stars are now Delvin Cook, Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, Zadarius Smith, T.J. Hawkinson.
I think the backup running back Madison is pretty darn good.
They have a safety. Harrison Smith.
Harrison Smith's a star. So now Niners got about eight stars. Eagles got about six stars.
Vikings have about five, six stars, it feels like. To me, I would put in order, now this is me.
Francisco, Philly, Minnesota. Above Dallas still, huh? My problem with the Vikings, they've gone outside twice.
They got smacked by Philly, and in Miami, they could do nothing. They had like 11-3 and out.
They could remove the ball. They're going to be hosting a playoff game. So the first ones at home.
The second game, they're going to have to probably go on the road to Philly. I just, I don't know.
Well, I said Philly's number one, or I said, I said San Francisco, Philly, Minnesota are my top three.
So Minnesota, yeah, I mean, there's the Kirk Cousins prime thing. I think it's a real thing.
After like nine Monday night football games,
O' for nine, it's a real thing.
These dome teams going outdoors.
I don't know.
I like Claypool and the Bears just like you do.
Exciting.
Next up, Fox Sports.com has released their top 10
quarterback rankings,
and they just dropped their top 10 running back list today.
Let's see if you agree with this.
Okay.
So one name, well, Ezekiel Elliott did not make the top ten.
Of course not.
Okay, good.
He's not even the best cowboy running back.
Here we go.
Derek Henry at the top of the list.
I mean, he's pretty dominant.
Aaron Jones feels low to me.
Aaron Jones at five.
Sequin Barclay at four.
Jonathan Taylor having a brutal season.
And fantasy football owners know.
He was like number one in the league last year in every Russian category.
I think I would, I don't know.
I mean, I don't have a problem with any of this stuff.
How about Travis E.T.N. crack in the top 10.
That's a bit of a shot here.
Now, they just moved off a running back, right?
A trade.
Breeze Hall, if he would, he would have crack the top 10 if he was healthy all season.
We know that.
Kenneth Walker is coming.
Dalvin Cook feels a little low.
Aaron Jones feels a little low.
Nick Chubb's been great.
He's just great.
We love less.
Fun to talk about.
All right.
Finally, Colin, back to the World Series.
Phillies took game one and extras.
Houston bouts back in game two.
Now it's going to Philadelphia for game three.
It was rained out last night.
Philly's 5 and 0 plus 20 run differential this season at home.
Citizens Bank Park.
It's going to be rocking.
You know, Philly, it's going to be very, very excited.
First World Series game in.
Philadelphia since 2009.
Wow.
The game is, coverage begins at 7 Eastern
4 Pacific on Fox.
Colin, who you got tonight.
Game three.
Ah, Philly, it's more fun.
I'll go Phillies 5-2.
And no banging trash cans
for the Houston Astros.
Houston Cheaters, I'm sorry.
Oh, come on.
Now, let's be very positive.
Just the facts, baby.
There's a positive show.
J-Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Her.
You know, I look at the Brooklyn Nets.
firing Steve Nash and let's go get Ben Simmons
and let's get James Harden and let's just throw money at everything.
They are like new money.
They're just trying to buy relevance.
No interest in culture, no interest in fit,
no interest in community.
They're just new money.
They're just trying to buy talent.
Brooklyn's a mess.
So IMAIDoku apparently is anything that doesn't work with the Celtics,
the nets always take off their hands, overspend for it.
So the coach got fired in Boston.
Of course, the net step up.
We'll take him.
You know, Kyrie Irving didn't work here.
We'll take him.
I don't know.
Brooklyn's a mess.
I think I'ma adocca is a really good coach.
I mean, he's hard.
By the way, he's going to make Kyrie Irving play.
I don't think Kyrie Irving's going to be there long.
Where's he going to go?
Well, I mean, I'maadoku makes you play defense.
I mean, he's a defensive guy.
That's why his first couple of months in Boston, he's hard on guys.
Like, Imaidoku's a great coach, but he makes you play defense or you do not play.
Kyrie Irving has no interest play in defense.
I mean, Kevin Durant will, Simmons will.
I mean, I think a lot of those guys that aren't great defenders are willing to.
Kyrie just doesn't care.
His body language tells you just don't want to do it.
Ryan, you had a word with me?
What was that?
What did I say?
We're saying the Celtics coach name wrong.
It is.
I'm going to dooku.
I'm confusing.
It was so duku that game.
Udoca.
I'ma, Udoka.
Udoca.
I've butchered enough names today.
You and I are both struggling.
We apologize for that.
Very.
But can I quickly add before we go to break?
Miami, the rest of the trade for Bradley Chubb, Miami is giving up Chase Edmonds,
the running back as well, the backup.
Rahim Mostard has been playing really well so they can give up Edmonds,
who will now be their running back in Denver because they hate Melvin Gordon
and the star running back's injured.
So was that part of the deal?
Yeah, so they gave up a first round pick in 23, a fourth in 2024.
And Denver trades Bradley Chub and a fifth.
and 25. So basically, the dolphins get a pass rusher to put pressure on Josh Allen. The Broncos
get a first round pick and a running back because after the injury to their young running back.
To the young star, yeah. And Melvin Gordon's got a fumble problem. Yeah, just for the record,
Denver's not out of the race for a playoff spot. They're not done. Very good in that fourth quarter.
Very tiny room for error, though. Not a lot. They can't lose any more games for a couple weeks.
This is very exciting. Who does Miami have this week, Colin? Do you know? No. I'm very very
Very curious. It's an interesting team. The internet loves this team. And I think they're missing the thing you talked about yesterday with this December schedule.
I've been told Miami and the Bears. Go Bears. Where's the game at?
Chicago. Oh, crappy weather. Can't wait. I'm going to bet the Bears. I'm going to look in the commercial break what the line is.
Give me the bear. Come on, Justin Fields. Let's go.

I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so you know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

So Bradley Chubb, good pass rusher from Denver,
goes to Miami.
That's a good get for them.
Chase Claypool goes to the Bears.
That's a good get for them.
T.J. Hawkinson.
the tight end goes from the lions to the Vikings. Good get for them. Boy, that Minnesota pickup is
great. One of the surprises of the league, you can say it's the surprise of the league is the Seahawks.
Outside of an early loss to the Niners, they've won four of five. Their losses to New Orleans
and Atlanta came down to the very end. The surprise of the league and a former Super Bowl champ
and a great player in the league for a decade, 11 years actually, K.J. Wright, a proud Seahawk,
pro bowler, a Super Bowl champ is joining
us. So let's start with this.
Pete Carroll always
had KJ a reputation.
Great with young
players. Pete's chewing that gum.
He's going 100 miles an hour, that
energy, and young guys just
feed off him. And I
watch this defense. Go back to your
first few years. Nobody
knew who KJ. Wright was. You just
emerged out of nowhere.
What does Pete do with
young players? How did he do it for you?
Hey, Hurd, I kid you not.
I was sitting there watching the game this past Sunday,
and I had got chills over my body watching the Seattle Seahawks football team.
It was a split image of what I experienced in 2011, 2012, and headed towards 2013, right?
You just look at, first of all, the energy they have, like the swag that they're playing with.
I was seeing the fan base just all excited about what was coming from the Seattle, Seahawks team.
And you look at Coach Carroll, man.
This guy is hands down the coach of the year right now.
This supposed to be a rebuilding year.
And what he's done was put his team in the position to first off win this division and make a serious playoff run.
You know, KJ, what made the Seahawks so amazing, and I'm from the Pacific Northwest.
My sister texts me every day.
She doesn't even like sports.
But because of your guy's success, my sister and I now talk football.
That never happened my entire life as a kid.
But what I remember about that offense was it was third round guys and fifth round guys.
this. I looked at Seattle's draft this year. I think their first six draft picks. Five look like
stars. And none of them are getting paid yet. And there is some value. You guys all want to get
rich. None of you are. And that's a serious thing. KJ. I go back to that CEO defense. And you guys
were so hungry because you hadn't gotten the bag yet. And I don't play. And when I look at this
team, do you think a little bit of is a mirage or do you think that?
They've got stars.
Some of these young guys are going to be like you guys, Richard Sherman, stars.
I'm telling you, they have it written all over them.
You just look at the foundation of this Seattle Seahawks rookie class.
Starting left tackle is a rookie, starting right tackle as a rookie.
You're running back as a rookie.
Defensive player of the year as a rookie, rookie Tarik Willen can make a name for himself.
So you look at the foundation of these guys.
They got a young guy named Jordan Brooks that's run the short middle linebacker.
Yeah.
So much stuff is looking really good for the C.
y'all team. And so people were laughing
before the season. Like, you are crazy. They're going to make the
playoffs. I said, you watch this team.
Coach Carroll knows what he's doing.
And so I'm loving what I'm seeing. These guys
are just getting started. Listen, I like
Russell Wilson, but I've always understood it.
A lot of guys, you know, they think he's a little
into his image and a little, hey, whatever.
I get it. I see the critics.
I've always liked him. I know him personally.
But I get it.
Tyler Lockett the other day
said, hey, man, it's amazing
what you can do when nobody takes credit.
And I thought, yeah, okay, I know where it's going.
But that could also be two things could be right, KJ.
That could be right.
And it doesn't mean the end of the world.
There's a lot of guys that like attention.
Was there a feeling at the end with Russell that he was kind of emerging as the star
and he wanted everybody to know it?
I watched Russell come in.
I watched him his whole career.
I played him in his whole career with Seattle.
It came in, young, hungry dude, fourth round pick, back against the wall.
I'm coming in and get a starting spot.
I'm hungry.
and Russell, as years went on,
Russell did grow.
He grew as a businessman.
He grew as all these endorsements he's getting,
which is phenomenal.
I love that for him.
One thing with Russell,
if Russell could probably go back in time
when it comes to relationships
with himself and his teammates,
I believe that Russell would want to put a little more emphasis
and a little more effort
into being present in the locker room.
I can say that.
And I believe that he'll tell you that as well.
Like I got all these stuff,
some highest paid quarterback,
but I got to make sure that this brotherhood
Our relationship is on point.
Yeah, no, hey, listen, that's, that is something I've heard more than once.
What do you make of Gino Smith?
I was out east at ESPN when he was, I remember meeting in there.
It was a bust.
He just wasn't ready for it.
He didn't, but he was always strong.
He was big and strong.
Are you shocked by it?
Let's put Gino Smith into context.
He went to an organization that was, that was rough.
The organization was struggling.
Right.
And they picked up the quarterback and like, hey, come be great for us.
It does not work like that, Colin.
And so you bring Gino to Philip Rivers, right?
Right.
There's some time there.
Then you bring them to a great Seahawks organization.
I watched the man.
I had a first front row experience to come in early.
I'm going to get some two-minute drill.
Gino Smith can play some freaking football.
And then you see they make the trade, you know, get Russell out of there.
The fan base sure was not happy.
They didn't, I'm going to be honest, they didn't believe in them.
They thought it was going to win two games.
But he has been absolutely.
phenomenal. Getting the ball out on time, making checks at the line of scrimmage.
Relationship is great with his teammates. And so if I'm the Seattle Seahawks,
you may have to consider extending this young man before the season ends.
He's definitely someone that you could build around.
Yeah, by the way, if they draft a quarterback, the kid may not be ready. Most of these
quarterbacks, Mahomes sat for a year, Rogers sat for years, Brady sat for a year.
There's nothing wrong with a guy not getting eaten alive. By the way, today's the trading
deadline. You were lucky. Ten years with the Hawks, won with the Raiders. But that early Seahawk team
you were with, they went, if I recall memory, because they weren't paying Russ anything,
and a lot of you guys weren't making any money, they went and got Cliff Averill and Percy Harvin.
And they brought them in, and it didn't even use Percy Harvin much. So take me to being on a good
team, the Ravens get Roquan Smith or the Dolphins get Bradley Chubb. What is it like when you have a team
in a chemistry, and then you bring in kind of a star to the team.
Is it weird in the middle of a season?
For some guys, yes, and we have some trades that you look like, man, we're getting Jimmy
Graham, you know, hot flying tight end that Drew Brees, but when he first got there, it was like,
okay, we can't run the ball.
We can't run the football now.
We got this big tight end, but we can't even run the football, which is our identity.
We got Percy Harvin, one of the fastest man I've seen, you know, on the football field,
and he comes there, he's hurt.
doesn't quite pan out, you know, got it to the Super Bowl.
But certain things work for organization, some things like, what the heck were we thinking?
And so I've been a part of some good ones.
I've been a part of some when you look at it in hindsight, what were we thinking?
Yeah.
All right, KJ. Wright, a pro bowler, a Super Bowl champ, a great Seahawk, an all-time great
Seahawk, has retired.
He did it right.
Played for the Seahawks, Little Raiders.
He's a Seahawk, and we all know that.
Congrats on a great career.
You earned all of it overlooked by many, but never the Seahawks, their fans, and Pete Carroll.
Great to have you on the show.
I appreciate the call him.
All right.
The great K.J. Wright.
He had a hell of a career.
I mean, he was a dog out there.
That's Seahawk defense.
Remember that Seahawk defense?
Not just because I'm from Seattle.
There's about a three-year stretch where you were like, right?
That's as fast.
Chancellor, Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman, K.J. Wright.
then they bring in Cliff Averill.
It was just,
I thought, a lot of people thought I thought,
this could be like a dynasty.
And that it ends really fast.
Well, they went to two Super Bowls.
I know why. I mean, but I mean, do you remember how they dismantled
Peyton Manning and Denver?
I think it was over in like four minutes.
It was the least competitive Super Bowl of my life.
That was the one in New York, right?
By the way, they should have won two.
Yeah, there was like a safety on the first play or something.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Interesting.

they went and got Von Miller's going to be chasing two around.
All right.
We'll get Bradley Chubb chase Josh Allen around.
Tyreek Hills on online freaking out about this.

past rusher?
That's a big time get from Miami.
