We got playoff games to discuss whether you like fantasy football, betting football or getting smarter at football. This is what Greg does. So let's go. Bengals and Raiders. Joe Burles had a fantastic year. He throws it down the field. It's not a great O line.

What would worry you? because the Raiders have a pass rush. What would worry you about Burrow this weekend? Just what you said. You know, these teams played week 11, and that was just before the Bengals offense really started to hit on all cylinders, and they won the game,

but it was a very close game. Burrow was under duress in that game quite a bit, Colin. He had 20 completions for less than 150 yards. He started to anticipate and perceive pressure because he was getting quite a bit of it. And I'm very anxious to see how they go about playing this week because they do not like to protect with more than five. And I'm very curious how they go about it. That would be my main concern on that side of the ball.

Now, in that game, Joe Mixon had, I think, close to 30 carries in about 130 yards. But they've really moved away, I don't want to say moved away totally from Mixon, but they've become a passing team. They take the one-on-ones on the perimeter. They'll get one-on-ones on the perimeter. and they're going to have to hit those. All right. Derek Carr has been so good in overtime, so good down the stretch in regulation this year. I think it's like 6 and 0. What does the tape say on Derek? Yeah, you know, I struggle with Derek Carr. When I say that, I don't mean I don't like him,

but I think there are times he looks so good. I mean, he throws a beautiful ball. He's got that compact delivery. There are times it comes out. It looks like Aaron Rogers. And then there's other times I feel like he doesn't set his feet that he's a little and, in the pocket a little uncertain. So I go back and forth watching his tape, but he's certainly capable of big throws. I just want to mention one matchup that I think you will see. And it's kind of an off-the-cuff matchup here.

But about mid-season, the Bengals signed Trey Flowers. Remember he was a corner for the Seahawks? Yeah. He doesn't start for them, but they play him a lot at times when they play good tight ends because he's a big corner, and it would not surprise me in this game to see Trey Flowers matched against Darren Waller because Trey Flowers matched up against Mark Andrews this year, did a nice job. So look for that matchup on that side of the ball. I would expect to see it.

All right, Eagles, Buccaneers, Bucks beat him earlier this year. What can the Eagles do offensively to change the previous game on Thursday night football? Well, at that time, the Eagles were not running the ball at all. I think they had three runs by running backs. So they changed their entire offense sort of midway through the season. And that gun run game, the run game out of the shotgun is really difficult to defend because you've got the zone read element. You've got the inside zone. They've got big, big bodies up front that are mobile. And that buck's defense, run defense, Colin, is not quite as good this year as as it was a year ago. I've heard that. Yeah. I'm very anxious to see how that plays out because the Eagles are

about being physical, controlling the pace and tempo. The question is the other side of the ball. The Eagles defense does play fast. They're very scheme dependent. They don't have great players. You know, they have a few good players, but no real great players. The question is, how will they choose to play? They like to rush five at times. I'd be careful about it in this game. I know people say you've got to speed up, Brady. But when they rush five, they either play man or they play three under three deep, meaning three underneath zone defenders, too many voids for Brady. I think he would eat that up. So to me, I'm very anxious to see how they play them. And the other area is the red zone. The bucks are phenomenal on the red zone. Brady's been great this

year. Yeah. And the Eagles are not good stopping touchdowns in the red zone. Yeah. Brady's red zone efficiency. I don't know where he ranks, but you get a lot of touchdowns. You don't see their field goal kicker a lot in the red zone. No. Well, just so you know, he's got 30 touchdown passes and no picks in the red zone this year. Okay, there you go. That's what my eyes tell me. All right, let's go Niners, Cowboys. So let's talk about, um, the, the Cowboys do a lot of man-and-man stuff. I got Debo Samuel. George Kittle. These are hard guys to defend with one. So what are the Niners going to do offensively? What does the film say? Well, we know the Niners will run the ball. But what the Niners will do when it comes to the past game is there's so much motion,

they're shifting, there's formation variation. For people just thinking it'll be Trayvon Diggs versus Debo Samuel, that'll happen at times, but that's not going to happen all game. The matchup I'm actually most fascinated to see is George Kittle versus J. Ron Curse. J. Ron Curse is the tight end matchup for the Cowboys, and he's a 6-4-220-pound player. That to me is really interesting. The other factor in this game is what the Cowboys do up front. They're very multiple with their front looks. They move people around.

Micah Parsons plays a number of different spots. DeMarcus Lawrence will play. inside, outside. Same with Gregory. So that to me is a fascinating part of this game. Trent Williams will be back this week. So he's been the best left tackle in the game this year. So that side of the ball is really, really interesting. The other side, I think one of the most overlooked things of any playoff team this weekend has been the play of the 49er defensive front and now with Dre Greenlaw back there, two linebackers. This is a really good front six. I mean, really good.

Yeah, I mean, the Cowboys O-Line still, I mean, how's the Cowboys-O-line match up against it? I don't know. That's a great question. Cowboys have not been able to run the ball with any kind of volume or production, basically since about week six. I would not expect them to be able to run it well this week. And then it becomes a passing game of which they can be great. And I know they're the highest scoring team in the league, and I know Dak Prescott's numbers are

very good. and I like that Prescott based on tape, but I think he's been a little erratic over the last month or so. So I think that's a really intriguing matchup on that side of the ball. All right, Kansas City big favorite over Pittsburgh. I've said something's uneven by the Chief's offense. It's fine, but it doesn't feel like it's, I mean, if one through 10, 10 being there on fire, they feel like a seven to me.

Some days a six. What's the tape say on Mahomes right now? Well, that's because it's different. We're used to seeing two things from the Chiefs offense. Explosive pass plays at the intermediate and deeper levels and Mahomes making second reaction movement plays. You're seeing neither. What this offense has morphed into as the season has progressed

is Mahomes being an efficient pocket player who gets the ball out of his hands quickly. So you're seeing a lot of eight-yard passes, nine-yard passes, 12-yard passes. We're not used to seeing that with this team. Yeah. So it looks different, but they've been very efficient over the last five, six weeks. Yeah. It's kind of a shock.

Pittsburgh's even here. Credit to Tomlin. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I think the burden's on Pittsburgh's defense because to me, I don't know how Pittsburgh scores 28, 30 points, to be honest with you. Yeah. Let's go to Arizona at the Rams Monday night. So, listen, Stafford's got a, blows through any ceiling. He has fourth quarters in moments.

He is spectacular. and the floor can drop pretty quick. What is the Arizona defense on Monday have to do or force Stafford into? What's the tape say? Well, I think what you'll see, Vance Joseph this year, the DC for the cards, has played a lot less man coverage than he did a year ago. My guess is because he's not comfortable with his corners. So what they do a lot of, and I think you'll see it in this game,

is a lot of disguise and late movement to get to zone coverage concepts. Because one thing about Stafford, and you can argue he throws the ball as well as any quarterback in this league, and he makes big time throws. But as I'm sure you notice, Colin, every once in a while he gets stuck in the pocket and he gets sacked or he ends up making kind of an undefined hurried throw. But I think so you need to try to make him do that. As veteran as he is, as smart as he is, as much as he's seen, you've got to try to make him think after the snap of the ball. but they are really good with shot plays. They have really well-designed plays that breakdown coverage. The last game that he played against Arizona, week 14,

was his best game of the season. So that's what he has in his bank against the Cardinal. So this is intriguing. Yeah, Arizona is always hard to get a read on because so much is accomplished with Kyler Murray's feet. How do the Rams match up with him on tape? That's a great point. I think you have to be very, very aware of that.

I don't think their past game is consistent in terms of the structure of the past game, but Kyler Murray can save any given play with his legs. Yes. And you have to be aware of that. By the way, they didn't do as much design runs with Kyler Murray this year, probably because of his ankle. But all bets are off now. I would not be surprised to see far more design runs by Kyler Murray in this game. All right.

Now, finally, Buffalo is hosting New England. I think the bills were the better team, but Belichick and Josh Allen's still young. Belichick can make young quarterbacks seduce them into mistakes. And so that's interesting. But is there something about this game that interests you the most? Yeah, a couple of things. But first I'll start with New England's O. I think New England will line up with a fallback with 6-0 linemen,

and they'll try to make the bills defend the run by bringing in a third linebacker. No team in this league this year played nickel more snaps than the bills. In fact, they had many games this year where 100% of their defensive snaps, they played with nickel, five defensive backs. And I think New England will try to make them step out of their comfort zone. On the other side, boy, I wish I could just get into Bill Belichick's head, but he will do something different than he did in the last game. Look, this is a team that plays a good amount of man.

They switched up and played more zone this year over the last two months. The last game was obviously won by Buffalo. Allen was phenomenal because he was not sack, Colin. He did not turn it over, and he was phenomenal on third down, particularly against the Patriots man coverage. So again, I wish I could get into Bill Belichick's head and say something really brilliant. I don't know what he'll do differently, but it will not be the same. Let's go to your big play of the week.

It involves Josh Allen. Yeah, from that week 16 game. And this was a red zone touchdown, which, by the way, they scored in the red zone. And that's obviously really important when you're playing any team, but certainly the Patriots. So we can run the play. It was a touchdown to Stefan Diggs. And it was a third down play. And this was actually a very big play in the game.

And this was a rocket throw by Allen. But to break it down, you're going to see Josh Allen in the gun. And what you see here is there's no middle of the field safety. So, you know, that's where you're looking. You know that. Josh can see that. And he has the matchup of Stefan Diggs versus J.C. Jackson with Diggs running the seam route. Now, there's only two defenders here that can possibly impact this throw, Kyle Van Nuoy and Devin McCordy.

So all he has to do is be aware of those guys as he drops back. And he sees McCordy turn the other way. He sees Van Nuys sit low. So now he knows he has Stefan Dixie. Diggs against J.C. Jackson with outside leverage with a wide open middle of the field, and he puts it right on his hands. So Red Zone is absolutely critical in this game. That will be a focus for Bill Belichick for sure, because he's always been a believer, as you know, Colin. He's not interested necessarily in yards. He's interested in touchdowns and scored touchdown defense is

what Bill Belichick is about. And that was a problem in the week 16 matchup. All right. Greg Kossel, 42 years. Great matchups on all this stuff. Oh, yeah. Thank you so much, Greg. Appreciate it. All right, Colin. Talk to you next week. A lot to consume right there. You know, the interesting one is Dallas just plays man to man. And George Kittle, my prediction, I don't know who's going on that game. George Kittle is going to have a big day. That's my big prediction.

I loved the Niners all week. And now it's trendy. Everybody loves the Niners. And now I don't like it as much because I'm not into trends. I'm not a trend guy. And everybody likes, when I like an upset pick and then by Thursday, everybody's like, yeah, that's home run. I don't like it as much because I always said in the NFL, I bet against the public. I'm trying to mostly bet against the public. College, I just picked the winners.

NFL, I'm betting against Bob and Sheboygan. Because Bob and Sheboygan doesn't beat the NFL. The NFL beats him forever. That's why they build big casinos and why Facebook. Daniel, all these companies make big money. And so you bet, and the NFL is way more betted on than college. So the public will skew

things with their, the masses moving to a game. And I'm like, no, they're not going to win. I'm going to bet against the public. So now the public, I think, loves the Niners, so I don't like the Niners. Let me sleep on it. I may change my mind. They showed just how dominant they can be with a win over the East leading Chicago Bulls. Durant, Hardin, and Kyrie combined for 61 points in the 138-12 victory. And after the game, Katie and Hardin spoke about finally having all three stars in the court together. I'm trying to make no statements to the league. I mean, who cares what they think.

I mean, we know what we bring to the table and it's all about us. But I'm sure people are watching the game tonight. We're that good. We got a chance to be that good. We just haven't had like enough of it. Well, we've been interested in seeing how they were going to look together. What did KD say he didn't care about? What was that?

About making statements to the league. So I have a theory. Nobody says they don't care about the media more than Aaron Rogers and Kevin Durant. If you have to tell me how often you don't care about the media, then you absolutely care about the media. Nobody says it more than Aaron. Aaron's going to come out in the next three days with another, I don't care about the media.

I don't give two blanks. If you keep saying all the time, I don't care about something, then you care about something. Because that's why you're talking about. Durant's always like, I don't care with the media. I don't care. Then why do you keep saying it?

Well, I have a problem with him saying if he did say that they want to make a statement to the league, there's been a lot of questions about whether there are, able to be successful together. Do they never play together? Right. Well, they just went out and beat the Bulls who are a good team. 138-1-12. They dominated them. Durant had 27 points, nine assists, Hardin at 25, and Kyrie had nine, four, and three. So they're finally able to get some consistency. Kyrie obviously not playing at home games, but look, they're second in the east, 26 and 14. They're going to be the most fun team to watch in the playoffs. There's a lot of season left.

Not even to the trading deadline yet. If they can finish the season strong, going, like there's a lot that can happen between now and the postseason. Right. So the Patriots are heading to Buffalo for the wild card game on Saturday. It's going to be pretty cold in the 8.15 p.m. Eastern kickoff. But the Patriots are used to playing cold weather. And Josh McDaniels doesn't think this weekend's forecast will change their offensive plan.

I don't think that's really a big deal. You know, I mean, throwing the ball or running it into cold. I mean, you know, either way it is what it is. Buffalo sometimes has a, it's kind of like New England. The weather can change quick there. So we'll be ready to deal with it the way we need to. But don't expect, you know, I wouldn't expect this to change radically if the temperature is the only thing we're dealing with. So the forecast for Saturday night is three degrees.

Oh, good Lord. With five to ten mile per hour wins. Okay, that is a non-factor. Just dress warm. I don't care about that. This kind of weather is going to change how you... Is it snowing? No, there's no...

Okay, it's just going to be cold. Yeah, it's just going to be bitterly cold. Hey, listen, when I lived in Connecticut, if it wasn't windy or snowy, the bitter coat, you put on a jacket and you go for a walk with the dogs, it's great. Great? Oh, fantastic.

It's like Miami Beach. Oh, God. I was not, I mean, I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, so I did my do with the snow, the cold, the slosh, in the wind, and... I had a pilot one. I asked him, he was a pilot for United. I said, what do you make of the snow? I don't care.

He goes, he goes, the radar cuts through snow. He goes, all the thing I care about to win. Yeah, right. So, I mean, and to Josh's point, if they're playing in this weather that we're showing now, that's going to change your game plan. There's no way it can't. But if it's just cold, then you're going to go in with every game plan you had. You're just going to be colder.

Do you know planes get hit by lightning all the time? Doesn't even matter. Okay. It's true. I read it on the internet. Lightning has hit planes several times. And nothing on that thing is inaccurate. It's basically it's fast. Pilots have seen UFOs, hit by lighting,

no big deal. But if you get a Nor-Easter, you can't fly. Shuts it all down. Now the bills are paid by four. You're going to give your picks tomorrow. Yeah. I'm waffling all over the place. We're going to fucks that. All right, well, the cult season ended in heartbreaking fashion. Losing their spot in the playoffs to Jacksonville. I feel

bad for them. I do not. I do not. I don't feel bad. All you're going to do is go beat Jacksonville. If you can't go out and beat Jacksonville in the last game of the season, you do not deserve to be a playoff team. Oh, that's harsh. Whatever. I mean, the Steelers, people argue that the Steelers don't deserve to be in.

Steelers won the game. They were supposed to win. No, they did. They did. They had other things fall their way. But the first part of this is win the game. I just like so many people within the Colts. Lots of Colts that love Jonathan Taylor.

Colts are one of the only teams that like me. I think they're a really well-won organization. Yeah. But you got to go out, like, you can't be in that situation. So in the statements to Colts fans, Jim Ursay, took accountability for the team's late collapse. He said we started 0 and 3. We knew the rest of the season would be an uphill climb. We were all hopeful we could dig our way out of the hole and reach the playoffs and we should have.

But we ended our season and perhaps the worst way possible and missed our chance. The buck stops with me. I'm going to do whatever it takes to put us in a position to win next year and for years to come. Chris Ballard was talking about Carson Wentz's future to the club. He said, I'm not going to comment on who is going to be here next year and who, is not. Well, the quarterback, you can bang on Wence, but what was the alternative? I mean, he's capable.

He had a really good two-month stretch before the end of the year. So if that's the qualification of your quarterback, then your expectations should be as such. If you have to say the, you say the quarterback's name so-and-so, in this case, Wentz. And he's capable. Right. Like if you were going to hire someone. Well, no, no. Someone was describing them to you.

You were like, yeah, yeah, like, he's capable. Yeah, but if I'm hiring someone. somebody in America, there are a lot of options. The quarterback, there's so few in the planet that are great, you kind of get stuck. Okay, fine. Co-host. Not a lot of options for co-host. Someone you have to work with every day and absolutely rely on.

Well, that's why I fought for you. Well, thank you. But if the descriptor of me was, she's capable, you could win with her. You'd be like, this. Nobody else? This is, I just, this is the kind of thing that I would get in trouble because I would just, I can't talk about this topic.

Okay. Well, my point is, too much joy, love and Colts love, I can't say. If that is the qualification with your quarterback, then your expectations of the team should be as such. Yeah, but the expectations with that roster, you get into the playoffs and that zany division. They should have. To your point, they got nobody to blame it themselves.

They didn't lose to Jacksonville. They were dominated the whole game. Yes. And they went three and three over the last six games, lost their last two. I mean, last season they won four of their last five. I know. Made the playoffs as a wild card team.

Hey, Philip Rivers went to Buffalo, and they gave the bills fit. They moved the ball up and down the field on them. Yeah. They have some big decisions to make. I'm with you. It's not like there's just quarterbacks everywhere to go get. It's hard. Yeah.

I told you, the kid I likes it, Pittsburgh. Kenny Pickett. That's the only quarterback I've seen in college I like. I don't know if I love him. I like him. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by.
