It is Thursday, November 10th, and we got all kinds of great stuff to talk about today. Very excited for this week's episode. were being produced by the wonderful B-code. Jackson is on sabbatical. He's not really on sabbatical.
Starting point is 00:01:18 I guess probably shouldn't say it. Are we allowed to say that? He's being the opposite of what we did when we were young. He's smart. You know what I mean? Yeah. Bro, how many times go to the dentist in your 20s? Imagine being stable employed at 25 years old.
Starting point is 00:01:38 Jackson's living a dream, bro. He's taken care of himself. I probably went four times in 10 years. I've gone more in the last two years and I went my entire 20s. I went to the dentist when my tooth exploded. That's when I went to the dentist. I was chewing gum and a molar crack in half, dog.
Starting point is 00:01:55 So I went to the men's going. That was one of the four times I went. As always, Jenghis and Jones hosted by my best bros. My dudes. My bros, dude. These are my dudes. bro. Dude bros, you know. Dragonfly Jones, aka
Starting point is 00:02:15 Tyler. Hey, everybody. How's it again? Legerreau Jenkins, aka John. What was that? Bubba's got my transition lenses on, too. Tyler already kind of snucked. Are those transition lenses? Look at real John Singletony over there, man. Bro, are your glasses
Starting point is 00:02:34 turning into sunglasses? Bro, what's going on with your glasses, dude? I know. All right. We are starting something new and exciting at the volume. We've got a new partnership with Amazon AMP. What that means for you guys,
Starting point is 00:02:50 Jenkins and Jones listeners, is we'll be going live on the Amazon AMP app Monday and Thursday mornings at 8 a.m. West Coast time. That's 11 a.m. East Coast time. And then the pod will go out on the regular platforms after that finishes. So if you want to get it right as we're going, you can download the Amazon AMP app
Starting point is 00:03:09 and follow us at Jenkins and Jones all spelled out. And if you want to keep listening on Apple, Spotify, etc., pot will still be out as normal on those just maybe a couple hours later than it was before.
Starting point is 00:03:21 So hopefully that's not too confusing for anybody. I think, that makes sense, right? We're good? The AMP app. The AMP app. That's harder than it should be, right?
Starting point is 00:03:33 I almost fucked it up right there. And I was like, you know, my revulsion to having to do you know, give information to people. I was like, let me make sure I get this right the first time. Don't take it already. Speaking of before we get going, I just want to shout out.
Starting point is 00:03:47 If you're not already following the Jenkins and Jones Twitter account, we did put out a video this week of Tyler and John doing a fake ad read that was not in the podcast. You can only see it on the Twitter account. They got us. So please go follow Jenkins and Jones. We might have some other videos and shit like that that you might not see from the pods or that might not be on the volume socials, so go follow up.
Starting point is 00:04:09 And I just wanted to, the reason I bring that up is I wanted to shout out, Hoodle CEO Joshua Chapman is a longtime Jenkins and Jones listener. That was his idea that he saw a podcast in Australia did that shit with the fake ad, where it was the same thing. It was just them making fun of the ad the whole time. And he was like, I know these dudes are entertaining when they're doing these ad reads. So he sent that shit to me. And so anyway, thank you, Josh.
Starting point is 00:04:35 sure that shit was funny. He came up with the name or did you come up with the name? No, that was all me. All the copy was me. You're mine. Bro, we really could have dug into that shit. Because I was, as I was reading, I was thinking other shit, but I'm like, let's get this motherfucker over with.
Starting point is 00:04:48 But there was a number of things where I was like, I think the hooty-hoo was where I just was like, all right, nigger. I got to say something about this. Y'all I'm playing with my name, nigga. Having me hootling. I was trying to keep it on the, like, believable side of the line. so I didn't go. I think the only things in there
Starting point is 00:05:07 I thought you might pick up on. It was winter is coming. And then I think it was like business business or business biz or something was a name of the which I thought was dumb. But I wasn't going to put the hooting noise in there because I thought y'all might read the ad before we started recording. And I thought y'all would both see that and be like, no, what the fuck is this? This is not a real ad. I didn't read it until we actually were reading the shit, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:05:34 Jackson, that was Jackson's contribution. He insisted on the owl noise. What is, it's an internet logistics? It was a web logistics. Bro, if I would have really thought about that, I've been like, what the fuck is this? This is the most general fucking shit to get into. Tyler was on it. Tyler the whole time was just like, I know web logistics.
Starting point is 00:05:56 And I've never heard of this. He said, this company can't afford me. This company can't afford to make me. advertised for them. I've never heard of me. I'm suspicious. All right, man. Let's talk about a bigger shit show than the Jenkins and Jones ad reads.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Something smells funny around here. Chaconery is a foot. Chaconery is a foot. Let's talk about a bigger shit show than our ad reads. The Brooklyn Nets officially announced today that they are hiring Jacques Vaughn. Jacques Vaugh. Jokball, Kansas legend. Mura, from Mura High School in Southern California.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Didn't he go all for like six games in shooting one year, like starting off the season? It was like maybe four or five, six games where he missed every shot he took. Y'all don't remember that shit? You got a better Jacques Vonn file than I do. When they were counting like, it's been three games. Yeah, anyway. We'll look it up. You're with basketball knowledge and Tyler with music.
Starting point is 00:07:05 knowledge to where y'all will bring stuff up and i just sort of like put my my my fucking chin on my hand and look at y'all like look at your brains i don't have memory for any of that shit bro i had to ask my mom when she was out this last month i was like how old was i when you and dad got divorced like i don't i don't remember shit about you though when you said cash dispersions i was like wow a word smith right a word smith i don't want to cast dispersions i actually looked that shit up I don't even know while you were interviewing we was doing it
Starting point is 00:07:37 during an interview and I was like this motherfucker I always hit me with something real delicious the only thing I know how to do is right bro
Starting point is 00:07:43 the only things I ever been good at was writing and fucking raising kids that's it that's all you need to be good at bubble that's all I got
Starting point is 00:07:52 this is all right all right this this next thing I think I mean so the reporting
Starting point is 00:08:00 was that they wanted I'me May Udoca that management wanted EMA, that KD wanted EMA, that Karee wanted EMA, and I think there has started to be some reporting, I think we'll see a lot more of over the rest of the week, that the NBA did not want them to have EMA and may have interceded in this situation. So what's your read, first of all, just on what happened with EMA and the sort of continued bungling of this Nets experiment, Tyler?
Starting point is 00:08:30 Like we discussed when the news first broke. You know, Joe Si went on that hole. I'm taking the keys back, you know, from these guys. You know, he went on that whole little run last summer where he, you know, just wanted to, you know, publicly show that this was his franchise. He's running it now. Katie and Kyrie don't have the keys anymore.
Starting point is 00:08:46 But then he went to hire email. And I was like, okay, yeah, you took the keys back from the guys, but you're still a prisoner to this experiment if you're willing to hire an email, right? A guy was currently under investigation for sexual misconduct, you know? So seeing that they're going with Jacques Vaughn, that they named interim, you know, Coach Jokvon, their official head coach.
Starting point is 00:09:03 It feels like they're probably done with the KD. Kyrie experience. I mean, by all measures, I think Kyrie, it probably comes back. You know, we got the apology from him. They set the meeting with Adam Silver went great. You mean comes back? You mean comes back to the season? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:17 Right, right. Yeah, yeah. I think Kyrie comes back this season. I think he's going to check off all those things on his little checklist. I think he finishes the season out probably, and I think they just do not resign him. I think they probably let him walk. I'm not sure if they trade KD.
Starting point is 00:09:29 They might, but I think Kyrie is for sure out of there after this season. That's what this move tells me. I mean, getting rid of Kyrie and just Katie being there with Jacques Kvon as a coach, I don't know if Katie that's what he signed up for. I think, you know, he tries to get the fuck out of there. You know what I'm saying? Maybe he pulls the same thing he did last year, but successfully doesn't go back on it. I think the reason he stayed was because they said Steve Nash would be out of there,
Starting point is 00:09:53 and I'm thinking he'll get a real coach, and then he gets, you know, I don't, I'm not too familiar with Jacques Kvon, honestly, what he's done. Has he been a head coach before? Well, no, and listen. And I'm not here to shit on Jacques Vaughn, but that's the guy he wants, though. You know what I'm saying? It's no disrespect to Jacques Vaughn,
Starting point is 00:10:07 but this is the second time he was the interim coach of the Nets. You know what I mean? And so, like, if he was going to be hired, if he was going to be the guy, they would have hired him instead of Steve Nash. And that's no disrespect to him. No disrespect. I always love to see former players, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:23 who are not old white guys getting chances to coach 100%. But I do get a shot, for so, for show. But I'm just saying. But his name. didn't come up when Kevin Durant was whacking Joe Si over the head, you know, in my opinion, right? So I'm interesting to seeing how this pans out. But I think, I think, like Tyler said, I think it's a rap as far as like the experiment. I think, you know, they're all moving on to greener pastures. Maybe not greener for Kyrie. You know what I'm saying? Like, I don't know where fuck Kyrie's going. But who would want to deal with that. But, but, but yeah, we'll see. You know, this has got to go down as one of the more disappointing. I mean, I don't know if it's the end of the super. Super team error or anything like that.
Starting point is 00:11:00 But this has to go down as like the super team thing typically worked in NBA. This has to go down as one of the more disappointing experiments, would you say? Oh, for sure. KD., Kyrie, and Hardin on the same team. And this is how it is? And nothing to show for it. Nothing to show for? Zero.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Yeah. And even a conference championship, bro. Zero. Bro, we were talking about, remember 2020? Was it 2020 or 2021 when it was like, I think it was the Clippers, the Nets. and the Lakers, right? You know, and it was, and then it got to the point where, I think, the next year, it was just the Lakers and the Nets.
Starting point is 00:11:35 You know, then it was just the Nets. You feel me? And, like, nothing, nothing came out of it. You know what I mean? It's just, and this year's been an embarrassment. Last year was bad, and then the playoffs was an embarrassment. Like, it just got dumb at the end. Like, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:11:49 It wasn't even good basketball. We've seen KD. More confused than we've ever seen them, you know, in a playoff series. I mean, nobody won from this situation. Nobody gained anything, you know what I mean? If anything, I think it was the other way. Like, I look at Katie came out looking, you know, with a little stink on them. Kyrie definitely, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:12:07 I think nobody really gained anything from this experiment. And it was supposed to be the exact opposite. I thought they'd at least get two chips, at least minimum. You know what I'm saying? Well, there was one person in basketball media who did not think that this experiment was going to work. And I just want to say, chuck up another one for old Jonesy. I told y'all from the jump. Bro.
Starting point is 00:12:29 I told y'all from the jump, this team had no coaching and it had no defense. And that's not some deep analysis. That's basketball 101, bro. And I feel like we learned this before with Kevin Durant. Like, you know, when a lot of us understood him making the move to Golden State that had great coaching, you know, had a great game playing, had a great philosophy, had a great coach and all that. We understood him leaving, you know, Scott Brooks and first year, Billy Donovan for that. You know what I mean? And then he just, you know, for him and for him.
Starting point is 00:12:58 fall back and be like, well, coaching it doesn't really matter. It just gave me the ball. No, no, no, no. It doesn't work like that. And you knew that, you know, first hand. So I don't know why, you know, a lot of people thought it would work for this experiment. I mean, for me, it seemed like I didn't know Steve Nash would be such a stinker, being that he was in the, you know, he was working with KD and all the guards, you know what I'm saying, closely. I remember, like, when they lost to the, to the Raptors. Steve Nash was right next to what's watching the game because he was working with all
Starting point is 00:13:23 those guards. You know what I'm saying? He didn't pick up anything being around curing them for so long. You know what I mean? Like, and so, like, the sets they have are, like, you know, with the elevator shit and all that, like, you know, like, it's been beautiful to watch them play basketball. And it's a totally different game he chose to run or system he chose to run when he went to the Nets, which was odd. And then, I mean, him playing with Kyrie, I thought it'd be good. Harden at it, I thought it'd be good. You know what I'm saying? But yeah, like, you need a coach minimally. And there was just no coaching. You know what I'm saying? So, yeah. I, and when it comes to defense, I mean, I think they started playing better team
Starting point is 00:13:56 defense towards the end of that year where Tyree got hurt and Katie was playing, I mean, and Hardin was playing with one hamstring. You know what I'm saying? They started playing better team defensive picked it up. But yeah, I mean, the offensive sets were really, I think, really where they struggled a lot.
Starting point is 00:14:12 Left a lot to be desired. I mean, for so, for sure. You know, the postseason, it's a whole different beast. You know, often the game slows down. It comes down to executing in the half court. Playing the same team seven multiple times, you know what I'm saying? I've got to switch it up. It often turns into a chess match between those guys with the clipboards.
Starting point is 00:14:27 And Steve Nash was out there playing checkers on that motherfucker. He was out there playing Pictionary with his clipboard. Like that nigga was playing Candyland on that motherfucker, okay? He was out here toying around, nigga. These is real niggas out here, bro. He was doing math. He was trying to see if he could get Kevin Durant to like 50 minutes in a 48 minute. Right, right, right, right, right.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Jesus Christ, man. He was just out there drawing a fucking picture. She was sweet. But, yeah, like, you were right. And it makes a thousand percent sense. I just thought, with that. with the level of players that they had and they started to play good team defense
Starting point is 00:14:59 and just Nash being a decent coach they could have won some shit and it just didn't turn out that way. No, it did not. All right, let's talk about a man with enough natural ability that he needs no coaching. Meek Mill has just been on an absolute heater of the weirdest
Starting point is 00:15:18 fucking video clips ever over the last couple months and a couple nights ago while relaxing courts. decided a game. He tripped a referee. He is a fucking walking cartoon. He's not a real person. He's Urkel. He's Urkel, but he wraps, bro.
Starting point is 00:15:36 He said, did I do that ass, Nick. You know what I'm saying? That's who meek meal is. You know what I mean? All, because Sicily is weird. That man tripped the ref, bro. I've never seen that in all my years. I've never seen, and especially, I've never seen a famous fucking celebrity, you know, front road trip a rep. Like, what the fuck was that? he was so relaxed.
Starting point is 00:15:56 I mean, you see his, like, he, he was that type of relaxed where his legs are straight and his hands are between his knees. He was just, he was at home. He didn't realize his feet were on the hardwood, you know what I mean? And as soon as he tripped to me, brings his feet back, like, it wasn't me.
Starting point is 00:16:12 And I ain't, man. Of course it was you. Did I do that? Yes. Yes, Stephen. You know what I mean? How did Steve Urkel record? You universally acknowledge is one of the hardest songs ever.
Starting point is 00:16:27 Like I tweeted last week. I have not been to a high school sporting event in fucking 10 years. Dreams and Nightmares was not played before. Yeah. And the man's out of here doing backflips off trampolines and tripper reps and shit. Holding himself upside down grabbing two trees. Like, just talk. What are you doing, bro?
Starting point is 00:16:51 Dreams and Nightmares is an all-time. It's a song. Every rapper wishes to. they had on their resume. You could make a case. It might be the most iconic rap song of the last of the 2010s. And this motherfucker, like y'all said, he's just Steve Urclopped. Like, the shit does not add up, man.
Starting point is 00:17:07 He is a conundrum. He left it all on the field. He left it all on the field that day. No, that's the version. That's our version of fuck the mother niggas. You know what I'm saying? Remember that? Fuck the mother.
Starting point is 00:17:17 You know what I'm saying? Like, that's our version. And it was made by Steve Irk. I told you all that. Hang you upside down. holding to trees with his chains dangling. Swinging in the wind. When Meek went in the booth and made that,
Starting point is 00:17:31 it's like when Will Ferrell and motherfucking old school blacked out for a second during that debate and said some super-tuper intelligent shit, right? And then went back to being a moron. That was Meek when he stepped in the booth and made dreams of nightmares. Right, right. See.
Starting point is 00:17:48 I told you all the poly football team used to come out to the marching man doing the beat from the sea murder song, John reference, right? Yeah. Bratana. That was tough. The hard. That was the hard.
Starting point is 00:17:59 It was the... Bigger. I'm getting out right now. I got goosebumps. That shit usually goes crazy. I'm sure Snoot was there for a few of those. I mean, did he... Oh, for sure.
Starting point is 00:18:10 He loved it. They come out to... They come out to East Side is come out and play yay. And then... Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then the beat dropping now, which is you can't argue with that shit either, obviously. But... I will say about Meek Mill, though.
Starting point is 00:18:23 The joint. The knowledge remixing his shit, his tapes. Beautiful. And he had his team put a stop to that because, like we said, he's Steve Arnold. He had his team put a stop to that? Yes. I didn't know that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:35 Like seven tapes in? And that was like my favorite shit associated with me. That was my favorite meek meal shit, you know? And I didn't discover it to like the pandi. You know what I mean? And I was like, yo, this is like, meek is rapping. You know what I mean? You just gave me a flashback when you brought it up because you,
Starting point is 00:18:53 You texted me that link, like, I feel like two weeks into the pandemic. And I feel like I spent an entire day sitting there, like the way we used to when we were teenagers, an entire day sitting still listening to music. All of them takes go crazy, bro. Hell yeah. Shit. All right. Tyler, you are something of a prognosticator. And so I'm asking you as a friend to please stop talking about prongo.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Cleveland. He stressed me the fuck out, dog. No, no, no, no, no, no. Look, you don't,
Starting point is 00:19:29 are you watching Lickers Garenes right now? You're not. Don't tell me you are. Don't tell me you are. I'd like having the option. No, no, there's nothing.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Bro, fuck out of here. Get that man where he could get, no, no, get that man out of here, dog. I haven't taken Vinny to see Brian yet. I can't, hurry up, man.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Hurry it up. Hurry it up, bro. All I said is the calves of one guy away. I always thought Brown would do his farewell tour in a Cavs jersey. So I don't know, man. And the Cavs are fun to watch.
Starting point is 00:20:01 And, dude, I thought it was going to take some time from him to figure that shit out. Nigger, it feels like playoff basketball already. You know what I mean? They are, they look great, dog. It's my favorite team in NBA to Rochester right now. The Cleveland fucking Cavs. Come on, gee.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Get that man out of here. Get them on a real basketball team. Caves are balling. The Jazz are balling. The Timberwolves are not falling. There's a connection there if you connect the dots. And his name is Rudy Gobert. Like, he's just, he's just a bringer of bad vibes.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Keep his name out your mouth, Tyler. Keep his name out your fucking mouth. J.D. Family name. Oh, shit. That's something I know. I wish we were the type of people who told that story. They haven't figured out how to play them too big together.
Starting point is 00:20:53 You know what I'm saying? Him and Cat don't seem like they really fucking with each other. You know, I expect I expected that to take a little bit of time. Yeah, I mean, it's different and it's certainly different for both of them. So I wouldn't be surprised if they figure that out. But I didn't think the Cavs were going to be this good. And I may be like watching the Bucks slightly more. But yeah, they've been right at the top of the list of just enjoyable teams to watch
Starting point is 00:21:17 where I don't have to stress about how bad the fucking Lakers are. And I don't think we have to lie to ourselves and say this team. is like really has a chance you know what I mean like I don't think we have to like you know like with the with the bulls we're like yeah you know you got to kind of reach I don't think I'm reaching dog these motherfuckers good they like playing with each other they got us their defense is insane you know I mean like I'm seeing them at the couple I'm like they don't give you shit right you got to take everything you like they're not giving you shit dog there's no easy anything you know what I'm saying you're gonna have to make difficult shots to beat that team
Starting point is 00:21:50 you know I mean and they got a lot of you know a lot of teams have difficult shot makers, but that's hard to win Siri making difficult shots every every game. Right, when you run into fucking Mowgli and Allen at the cup, like, what the fuck you're going to do with that? Mobley might as well be six years in how he plays the game. Like, you know what I'm saying? You look up and look at the stats sheet. It's like, I knew he was good.
Starting point is 00:22:11 They had a good game, but the nigger, you know what I mean? Like, he's every, you know, come on, bro. Just solid, solid, solid basketball. I remember when, I remember when Mowgli's scouting report came out and they said he's got Bosch's offensive game with AD's defense. I was like, bro, I was like, all right, let's pump our brakes a little bit.
Starting point is 00:22:26 But, hey, I mean, the comparisons might not be spot on, but he is really that guy. He is for sure that guy. We saw him playing live at, I think I do. I think you were there, Michael. Maybe it was me and Mike, me and Zach,
Starting point is 00:22:39 but I saw Mowably playing live against Sierra Canyon. I'm like, yo. Yeah, at the pyramid, at the pyramid at Long Beach State. Yeah, it felt like, it felt like Bosch to me. You know what I'm saying? And I remember Bosch, before the heat.
Starting point is 00:22:53 You know what I mean? I remember the double, double machine 20 and 10, Gary and fucking T. You know what I'm saying? And he had that all over. You know what I'm saying? And he has that same mid-range type game where he can shoot that little 17-footer
Starting point is 00:23:05 consistently and step out a little bit. So, yeah, it's not a bad comparison. We've been your number one podcast for tracking the downfall of Tom Brady at the hands of Adam Schaefter. Adam Schefter. Shephty. Shefty, quite the victory lap on Monday.
Starting point is 00:23:22 Monday night football earlier this week doing a Kirk Cousin's impression with his shirt off on national TV and the gold chains on doing some kind of a dance. Tyler, is this victory lap we've been seeing from Shephty and Alzheimer? I know, I know this motherfucker makes Tom Brady's blood boil. I'll be so mad if a motherfucker who ruined my marriage was out there on Monday night football shirt off, fake ice you know what I'm saying doing a little bullshit ass dance hey it's just been so fucking hilarious dog it has big revenge of the nerds vibes you know what I'm saying we're like this motherfucker out here
Starting point is 00:24:07 dancing horribly chained up you know and it's ruined the marriage of the best football player of all time you know what I mean he's in full geek mode with his shirt off too like trying hard as fuck to catch a beat didn't catch Neri a beat. Nary one and has ruined the marriage of Tom Brady, this motherfucker, you know what I mean? By out-scooping somebody like out-scooping him about his own retirement. By his own retirement.
Starting point is 00:24:40 And I know where my wife is at the end of the night, bro. Oh, bro. And that's him. Where's your family, dude? You love your family? Like, chef or sex? that. The fucking fit with the dance.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Oh, boy, that's shafty doing you like that. Elon Musk has continued to be the only thing that has ever united Twitter, which I guess I've appreciated, floated the idea
Starting point is 00:25:11 of a paywall. How quickly do you think Twitter would be completely gone and empty if they try and throw a paywall on that thing, which for the record I do think they're going to. I'm out that motherfucker. It's the principal.
Starting point is 00:25:25 Of course, I got $5 a month or whatever, but it's the motherfucking principal. For one, I'm not giving a motherfucking penny to fucking Elon ever. You know what I'm saying? Like, he's such a dickhead that I don't even fuck with Tesla's, and those are, you know, pretty fucking cool cars.
Starting point is 00:25:38 You know what I'm saying? So, no, no, if they put that paywall up, I'm out, though. Same way when it comes to the money, I've been looking at electric cars. I don't even look Tesla's way, bro. The fuck, what I look like giving him that much money in mine? You feel? me fuck out of here, bro.
Starting point is 00:25:52 I think he's just such a, bro, the way he's going about this shit is so wild, you know what I mean? $44 billion he paid to be the biggest asshole on his own shit. On the asshole website? On the asshole website? You didn't have to pay to do that, bro.
Starting point is 00:26:09 You're getting dunked on every day by your own by the people that, you know what I mean? Like, bro, the charge for the blue check, the charge, come on, man. Nobody's rolling, dog. Like, you got to be more creative than this. And as somebody who thinks there's such a great mind is doing these things that are suggesting these things that it's obvious nobody wants or will do or take part in, it's just ridiculous. Start the NFL week off right with a no sweat same game parlay every Thursday from Fandul, America's number one sports book.

Starting point is 00:27:50 Restrictions apply. See terms at sportsbook. Fandul.com. Gambling problem, call 1-800 gambler or visit fanduel.com slash RG. Here's my prediction. And I've been following the tech side of this ship fairly closely. I think, so one of his big deals that I actually thought was a good proposal was that they want to pay content creators on Twitter the way that YouTube and TikTok and
Starting point is 00:28:16 other platforms do, right? And literally, I think the three of us have been talking about this since before I was on the podcast. And it's just like, Tyler is the only reason I have a Twitter account. Like, I would have, I would have been one of the people who was on Twitter. Okay, I posted seven funny jokes. I got three likes. Like, you know, like, cool. Now I'm moving on to the next thing I'm going to do with my life. But it was people like Tyler and you, John and other Tyler, you know, I mean, it was people that like, that's sort of who got you into Twitter. and yeah, like if you were on YouTube and you were the person who got someone on YouTube,
Starting point is 00:28:51 you made a billion dollars off the shit. You know what I mean? And that never happened on Twitter. So I don't think he can simultaneously want to do that. And as everyone knows on the internet, you put a subscription fee or a paywall on it on anything and the number of people using it goes down by 95%. Their entire...
Starting point is 00:29:08 Their entire valuation is based off of the data that they have and the number of people who use the app, right? So I don't think that they will put a paywall all up. I wouldn't be surprised if they go. He's used YouTube as sort of the thing he's pointed to more than Facebook or Instagram. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a like in the Twitter blue thing. Hey, like we'll take ads out of your experience and maybe the rest of us see more ads on the timeline. Right. Right. Right. There's no way to me he gets owned so hard that he literally like he's not looking to take a $44 billion loss. And if he puts a paywall on the whole thing,
Starting point is 00:29:45 I don't know anyone who would still be on it. Like I don't know one person who would still be on it. Right, right. Not me personally. You know, and with nobody on it, then the corpse are gone and ad, you know,
Starting point is 00:29:55 you lose their dollars. And ads is how they make most of their money. You know what I'm saying? So like, name a single social media platform that charges people to be on it. Like, that we actually fuck with.
Starting point is 00:30:04 None. You can pay for, you can charge people for premium access and there is success with that with YouTube. Yeah, for sure. So I wouldn't be surprised if we see Facebook and Instagram and Twitter. And honestly,
Starting point is 00:30:15 if they did that and there were certain filters or customizations you could do, that might be worth a dollar a month to me. You know what I mean? And if you're paying the Tyler's to do their shit, you know what I mean? If the homies that come on here and take full advantage. That we've been watching people make like Cobb do bad copies of to get six figure jobs for Wendy's and shit are getting paid.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Fuck yes. I was never going to do this. The Superfather thing always seemed a little dick ridery to me. Yeah. I keep my booty hole to myself, okay? Like, I was never going to click the shiny super follow button, you know what I mean? But I would love to have y'all Kev on stage, some of the people who, you know, actually create the content that made the app enjoyable to me over the last however many years.
Starting point is 00:31:05 I would love to see people like that profit off of the shit. So I'm for that for sure. And I do think there's way. Like I said, John, there's just. no way, like you said, you don't, you don't de-value your company intentionally. Their whole thing is increasing ad revenue. The easiest way you could kill ad revenue would be to put up a paywall because you would, because you'd lose your subscriber base. So I don't see it. And that's the only reason. Yeah, that your biggest, like your biggest, like your biggest selling point is how many people
Starting point is 00:31:33 use it. You know what I mean? In order to get those ad dollars that keep the company a lot. Well, and then your other selling point is Tyler. Your other selling point is the people that like top one percent of your content creators that are like posting the most that are the funniest that are the funniest to get the most engagement and you haven't been breaking those people off. And you have to be on the platform and post more and bring more people along.
Starting point is 00:31:54 You feel what you? Yeah. But I mean, that's why the layoffs was surprised me. I knew they had a big layoffs. I didn't know they laid off 50% of the company. And then they called a whole bunch of them back. They have no idea what the fuck they're doing. They called a bunch of them back, you said? Yes.
Starting point is 00:32:11 The things with me is like, you want to operate in the same way. And you want to, you know I'm saying, change things around and create different things. And you lay off half. Like, so you're going to, are you going to stretch the workers you have ridiculously
Starting point is 00:32:27 like he does at the Tesla fucking plan, you know, and nobody's happy? Like, or I mean, that was the plan. But that's just, but that's such a huge cut to, you know, like, you can't you can't, you can't, you want everybody in the company to do twice the work. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:32:44 That's ridiculous. He also made a mistake because the people he was doing that to at Tesla are largely blue-collar workers, that he was doing everything he could to prevent from unionizing. Software engineers are white-collar workers. You can't do that shit to white-collar workers because they'll just go take another six-figure job somewhere else, bro. And also there's some really brilliant people that he let go and I know aren't hurting for jobs. You know what I'm saying? Like for job offers, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:33:09 So it's just, yeah. Yeah, he's so lame, though, like you were saying he's just getting owned every day. Like, he made Kathy Griffin a sympathetic figure for like six seconds. Dog, like, come on, bro. You're making me room for Kathy Griffin? You're that bad, though. He had Andrew Yang scoring points of him. Andrew Yang lit his ass up.
Starting point is 00:33:31 Like, well, I thought, you know, freedom of speech means you could take a joke. I was like, damn, you're letting the dweaves get jokes off on you now, dog. The dweeps call you a bitch. That's crazy. Right, right, right. But it was funny as like how, like, dude, this is, if any, this, if any platform is just going to dunk on you, it's this one. Yes. Like, this is the wrong platform to move how he's moving.
Starting point is 00:33:51 You know what I'm saying? If you're mocking people, you will get, you can't, like, the internet always wins. In particular, Twitter always wins. When Twitter turns on you, you can't beat them. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? It's like, it's crazy. And he's, it's funny to see him try to, well, any parody.
Starting point is 00:34:09 So now we're going to be attention. You know, like, now we're going further, you know what I'm saying, and working around these, you know, these boundaries you put up to try to make us not dunk you. And it's even funnier now when we dump you to act. You feel me? Like, it's ridiculous. He has no idea what he's doing right now, it seems like. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:34:28 In business and on the platform as a tweeter. He's not a poster. He's not a poster. All he wants to be is a poster. And instead he's getting dumped on by fucking. in Millhouse Van Houghton. Oh, man. Did y'all see that the guy who created the Oculus
Starting point is 00:34:52 is working on a video game for the Oculus headset that will kill you in real life if you die in the game? Did you all see this? Yeah, I saw that fucking Squid game shit. That's scary as fuck, bro. Is he really, who was going to buy this? And is that, how was that in any way legal?
Starting point is 00:35:09 I don't know. I didn't click the list. link. You didn't want to kill the link at all. You ain't even want to read about it, but that's crazy.
Starting point is 00:35:17 Yeah. I just, I can't imagine how that's even legal. You know what I mean? Or is he just got so much bread? He's going to create
Starting point is 00:35:24 something that nobody will take, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like when people do an album and then they just sell it to one person or whatever. Yeah, I think Wu-Tang did that shit.
Starting point is 00:35:33 Yeah. They sold it to the, to what's his face? Yeah. Is he in jail? Yeah. Fuck that dude. I think Elon's getting it even worse than him.
Starting point is 00:35:46 Yeah, facts. He was getting dunked on consistently. Martin Shrelly. Yeah, that's the thing. All right. Look, we've had a lot of negative things to say about conspiracy theories over the last couple months, and we stand by all those things. But I'm going to do my wind horse fingers conspiracy theory of the week.
Starting point is 00:36:05 I was not aware. I was on vacation when the news came out that Chris Pratt had been cast as a voice of Garfield in the upcoming Garfield movie. This man in the span of like a year is going to have a major motion picture release where he is the voice of Garfield the cat and the voice of Super Mario
Starting point is 00:36:28 from the Mario Brothers. Something's going on there, right? Like, how did that happen? That is very, like, he is not a voice actor. He doesn't have a good voice for either character particularly. Like, what the fuck is the distinctive about that dude's voice? like, who is Chris Pratt? He's a dude from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Starting point is 00:36:48 He's a, he's a, he's a Starloor. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's the white guy in Guardians of Galaxy. Yeah, cool, cool, cool. So Mario and Garfield, like, he's got two. Like, if he got Bart Simpson or something, he would have all three of the fucking 90s. He got every infinity stone.
Starting point is 00:37:05 Yeah. But why, like, first of all, why would he want both of those things? And second of all, how did he get? But I really don't understand. And it does feel like the first, it feels like the first step down some path. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:37:20 It's really bothering me. He's about to buy NBC. He's trying to buy NBC. I don't know what the fuck. I don't know. I don't know what we're going with this, Mike. I don't know. I don't have anyone going to.
Starting point is 00:37:33 I just couldn't believe it. So are these like those, you know what I'm saying? Live action cartoon. Like the, they look real, but they're cartoons. Is this what they're animated? I think that. They're animated?
Starting point is 00:37:44 Okay. Yeah, yeah. I think so. Anyway, I don't have a larger point. I'm not expecting y'all to have a larger point. I just think it's very suspicious. You got your eye on it. You got your third eye on it.
Starting point is 00:37:52 It's very suspicious to me. Something's going on. Watch out tribe. Something is up. Jiggis and Jones tribe. I will watch all of you. Let's keep our eye on this. All right.
Starting point is 00:38:07 Shall we close by talking about politics, trademark? capital T, capital A, capital P. There was some big dragon going on. Well, let's start with this. We did it. Slavery officially. What's that? We didn't.
Starting point is 00:38:27 No, no, no, no. We did it. Slavery has been banned in Tennessee. Jesus Christ. And Louisiana, was it? I think Louisiana voted. Yes. No, I didn't vote.
Starting point is 00:38:38 I still voted for it. Okay. They still won slavery. live. Okay. Makes sense for Louisiana. I'm not shocked by that. I'm not. Tennessee, I'm shocked that they voted no. You know what I mean? 20%
Starting point is 00:38:50 20% voted yes. Does not shock me, bro. Have y'all been in Tennessee before? Yes. Have you been anywhere outside of Nashville? No. I've been in Memphis. I've been in Memphis. Nashville and Memphis, you might be shocked that you saw that. Outside of that, you'd be shocked
Starting point is 00:39:06 that they didn't vote yes. That's 20. That's probably 20% of the state's population. side of right right right yeah I mean but the full story here is you know it is banning you know imprisonment hard labor as you know which can be categorized as slavery which is probably why Louisiana didn't pass it I mean you remember we had Clint Smith on here and we discussed Angola you know they make money off that yeah so they make a ton of bread off that yeah so yeah Oregon was surprisingly pro slavery but but I guess not surprising given the history of that state where their whole motto was no black people allowed.
Starting point is 00:39:42 Oregon is racist as fuck. Yeah. Fuck, bro. Right. And Oregon's even got like from our time in Portland, like even the liberals in Oregon are pretty, you know what I mean? I was in Portland, which is like hella liberal. And then people were having conversations about how they voted for Trump.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Nigger. You know what I'm saying? Like liberal to a bunch of white people in the area. You know what I'm saying? You're liberal. You wouldn't in Southern. California, you wouldn't see someone feel comfortable even saying that. Comfortable doing that.
Starting point is 00:40:14 They're at the bar outside that, like some, some like, you know what I'm saying, like, gentrified-ass hotel space where that's the, these are the forward-thinking people. Right. And they're talking about how they voted for Trump. Dog, you know, in Portland, you know, it's not, it's just not, not. The whites in the Pacific Northwest are a specific subset of whites. You know what I mean? For sure.
Starting point is 00:40:37 Very, like. They help, like, going to Portland. helped me to realize how racist liberals are. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Like spending time in Portland a couple times, I was like, I see where everybody's,
Starting point is 00:40:51 I knew, but I truly knew after being out there, you know, how they pretend to be one way and move and totally. Right. Pacific Northwest is like the fucking militia capital of the country, right?
Starting point is 00:41:02 Like that's where most of those. Yeah, I think Oregon has more than most other states. I mean, I think it's that Oregon, and my mom lives, in central Washington, so I saw it when we were out staying with her in the spring. It's like the eastern, like, once you, especially when you get away from the coast in Washington, Oregon,
Starting point is 00:41:18 you get to like Montana, to like Idaho and shit. Yeah, that's all militia country. That's like basically their breadbasket for all that, all those movements and shit. But, but yeah, I mean, I remember being in college and out of college and sort of, you know, like hearing from my friends about, you know, what they thought about white people and stuff. And I kind of remember thinking a little bit like, white people seem okay to me like I haven't really run into people who are the way that you're describing and then you leave like I left Long Beach
Starting point is 00:41:46 you know Sharon I went on that road trip and it's like oh I get it very much get it bro you live you live in a fantasy world bro like you know what I'm saying like Long Beach the type of people you all have there and the diversity is is special you know what I mean like I don't know any other place maybe like I don't know
Starting point is 00:42:04 I don't think I know another place like Long Beach it's yeah I mean But there's things that's unique about it. I think like Memphis and Oakland and there's some places that have very similar feels to me when I've been there. Memphis is cool. I love Oakland. Oakland is cool too. But, you know, like Long Beach feels different, dog.
Starting point is 00:42:21 You know what I love? Oakland is a great, a great city. It's hella fucking black. You know what I'm saying? You're like, like Memphis is hell of black. Long Beach doesn't feel hella black, but it feels, you know what I'm saying? Like it's like it's like it's, there's not that same energy. It's just a different, right.
Starting point is 00:42:37 Yeah, yeah. vibe or whatever. Well, let's talk about a little bit about the Youngs. We're a pro-Youngs podcast as olds. All three of us, you know, we're happy to pass the baton off and see that the kids who are younger than us are smarter and more engaged and everything. But I have to say, I went into, you know, the founder of the Volume podcast network has some predictions about the election.
Starting point is 00:43:04 And I went into, I went into Election Day pre-depripping. I thought this was going to be like, I'm waking up thinking about, okay, my kids' future is California going to succeed or some other shit? And it actually felt like for the first time since we elected Barack Obama and the white part of the country lost its fucking mind and was like, we'll burn all of this shit down. It felt like the first time that the country showed up to the polls and said, you know what? We'd actually prefer you not burn the whole country down. Thanks very much.
Starting point is 00:43:44 And it's not, it was not the best election ever. It looks like it's going to be the best election for a sitting president at the first midterms since either 1934 or 1950, which is pretty crazy. But it feels to me, as all this culture wars shit has been ratcheted up and been ratcheted up by social media algorithms and everything, I feel for the first time in a long time,
Starting point is 00:44:07 I'm breathing a little bit easier today. Are y'all feeling that at all, or is that just me being a white liberal in a bubble? No, no, I kind of feel the same way, too. You know, we kind of had this discussion in the group chat where it was like, you know, I was probably in a bubble because, you know, most of the people I follow like 30 plus, and it feels like all of us are kind of jaded with politics. You know, I don't follow a bunch of 19-year-olds. You know, I don't really know what's going on on that side of the fucking Internet or what have you.
Starting point is 00:44:32 But, you know, the youngest showed out, you know, going back to what you said about, you know, So Colin said that, you know, he thought that there was going to be a backlash from parents who were, you know, going to vote red and retaliation for how much they felt like the COVID restrictions were unfair to their kids. And then their kids just showed up like, oh, no, no, no, it's still fuck Republicans. You know what I'm saying? The kids who actually went through that shit, you know what I mean? Yeah, I mean, and I get it, bro. Like, you know, the things that, you know, the GOP has done to Gen Z, like, you're showing you don't give a fuck about them getting gun down in schools. You know, you're taking their fucking reproductive rights from them, you know?
Starting point is 00:45:07 It's shit like that That you've just shown A complete utter disregard Climate change Yeah yeah Not giving a shit about climate change You're right Yeah you know it's a bunch of fucking
Starting point is 00:45:16 70 year olds Not giving a shit about the world They're going to leave to these 18, 19 year olds And it seems like the Gen Z is pushing back And good for them God damn y'all really came through We appreciate y'all
Starting point is 00:45:25 I mean It's shocking How many people Because we were talking about Like midterms When we were young What the fuck's a midterm I'll see you when we just
Starting point is 00:45:35 Didn't we just vote two years ago Right, right. What is that? You know what I mean? But we shouldn't be shocked because there's so much more involved than we were. You know what I mean? There's so much more aware.
Starting point is 00:45:45 They have so much more intellectual and have so much more knowledge when it comes to what's going on in our country. You know, so like, I mean, we should have been shocked, but, you know, it's definitely shocking. But thank God for them. Because we'd be asked out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:57 They came in and spun a block on them niggas, do you know what I'm saying? Somebody tweeted it was a, if it was a Scooby-Doo, if it wasn't for those meddling kids. right you feel with me but I but I you know I I had a couple um there's a couple people on my
Starting point is 00:46:13 Facebook who are who are older and and more conservative who were actually like not I mean the Republicans have kind of been tearing their hair out today understandably and I think they've got to decide whether or not their former president is still at the head of their party or not but I had a couple friends who are who are on the more conservative side
Starting point is 00:46:31 of southern California liberals who even though the election didn't go the way they wanted they they were posting about being inspired that young people showed up to vote. And they were like, you know, and look, they happen to vote the way I wanted them to vote, you know,
Starting point is 00:46:45 the way that my people are, but they didn't for these people. And they were saying like, this is what we all should want is young people who are going to have to live in this country for the next however many years, having to decide how it looks in fear. And our generation didn't show up like that.
Starting point is 00:46:59 And Gen X didn't show up like that. You know what I mean? So for this generation to actually show up and go, the climate change shit, I can't oversell. what a big deal that is to high school kids in Long Beach at least, they organized a whole movement and forced our school district to commit to going to green energy by 2030. Like they protested on that shit for two years.
Starting point is 00:47:19 They showed up to every school board meeting for two years. When the schools were closed down, people showed up for a couple months. When the Black Lives Matter protests happened, people showed up for six months. These kids showed up every meeting for two years until they said, okay, here's the plan we're doing it, you know? And I think that's like you have paid political activists who are less committed than these teenagers in Long Beach who are doing this shit for fun with their friends, bro. And I think that's, I don't know, I do think there's something there. And I think regardless of where you are politically, like, we should all want 16 to 25 year olds to feel invested in making the world that they want.
Starting point is 00:47:56 That's the only way any of us are going to fucking survive this shit. Anyway, I don't have anything else to say about that. but I thought it was super, very, very interesting and, and yeah, definitely not what I think we were all expecting. So way to go, Youngs. Thank you, Youngs. The kids, the kids going to be all right, man. You know what I'm saying? Not only going to be all right, they're saving our asses.
Starting point is 00:48:17 You feel me? Yeah, we might actually have Social Security because of these teenagers. God bless you. Appreciate y'all, appreciate y'all. Right, right, right. All right, that's all the time we got for Jenkins and Jones. We'll be back on Monday with a night. episode. Thanks as always for rocking with us. Like I said at the top of the show,
