As always, Jenkins
Starting point is 00:05:45 Jones hosted by my good friends, Le Jethro Jenkins, aka John. What's that, Bubba's. Dragonfly Jones, aka Tyler. Hey, everybody. How's it good? I'm Garty B. A.k.a. Mike. I'll just tell you right now, we are just talking about what order to do this in, but basically the second half of this podcast,
Starting point is 00:06:03 we're going to be talking about. The things we actually care about. I'm going to say it. It's going to be the second half because it feels like it makes more sense to talk about shit like that and then end it rather than transfer into funny stuff. So that's why it's there. Also, if you are a number you hit us up talking about how much you appreciate the show while you're commuting or when you're at work or whatever, if it's Monday and the world is fucking heavy on your shoulders and you do not want to talk about
Starting point is 00:06:31 any of that shit, I totally understand. So we'll let you know as we're transitioning into talking about heavy shit. But up top, first of all, our boy beat the allegations, Hank the tank. John wanted this bear. John wants blood. Murdered. I wanted his head. I wanted the bear's head. Bro, I'm not sitting around waiting to a fucking bear kills a human to decide whether what we should do with it. You feel what I'm saying? You know what I mean? I'm not anti-Hank the tank or bear. I'm just pro-human life. I'm sorry, guys. I apologize. But I was wrong. You know what I'm saying? I'm glad Hank the tank was the five sweetest words in the English language DNA exoneration. Hank the tank had been suspected of a 500 pound bear had been suspected of 30 household burglaries in the Lake Tahoe area.
Starting point is 00:07:24 DNA evidence has now proven that there are in fact three 500 pounds that are breaking into people's houses. But they were about to kill Hank the tank. That's why they did the DNA test. They were going to euthanize him for being a little too interested. interested in getting into people's kitchens and uh instead he beat the allegations our boys going through did he was about to go down for the whole squad bro like like they was about to fry that man for the squad i'm glad that i'm glad that the justice system worked here fellas so so did he do some of them or or what was the what was the what was the well you know i mean he just got to
Starting point is 00:08:01 eat bro like you know he did a little bit so he did 10 of them he just did 10 of him i mean you know Open you. Kill them all. You mean? I get what fuck about a bear, gee? Kill all three of them, niggas, you feel me? It's not a picture of a Lake Tahoe homeowner on the California state flag. I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:08:22 I mean, it's bears doing bears things, for sure, but bears going inside of homes is not normal bears things. Come on, gee. I mean, like,
Starting point is 00:08:30 straight shoulder in a door, busting through the door, bro. That's breaking an entering. It's breaking loss. this point. I mean, yeah, the thing that hops out to me is like no one has been at home while this has happened.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Like, is this, these just like rich people's summer houses and shit that's getting broken into? It's a lot of that in Lake Tahoe. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, what's shit? Y'all ain't eating the shit. Why are you getting mad at Hank if he's going to eat your shit? You ain't going to be there to motherfucking August motherfucker.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Let Hank live, dog. You wasn't going to eat the motherfucking bagel bites. He's going to throw them bitches out when you came back. Let Hank live, bro. But what if they, the bear ain't going to stop doing it because it's August and people are actually in the homes. You feel what I'm saying? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:11 I feel like summertime it's way more food available. You know what I'm saying? Like they could just hit the stream and get a salmon or, you know, I'm saying, find a strawberry patch or some shit. You're going to risk that? You want to risk that? I would, look, if Hank was on the loose in my neighborhood, I would have the blicky on standby.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Like, it's going to be a misunderstanding of Hank run up in my shit. But we talked about bears. We talked about their skulls and shit, bro. I'd rather somebody professionally do that. Because the blicky might not. blicky with a, would hang the tank, nigga,
Starting point is 00:09:39 you feel what I'm saying? Yeah, you might be, it might be, it might be, and you're gonna be out of here. You might need the blatowl and I only got the pume,
Starting point is 00:09:46 you feel? You need a blight owl for a bear, I ain't got that. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, none of that, and we don't have that shit.
Starting point is 00:09:53 You feel me like, dog, I don't know, gee. When you're killing a bear out of necessity is not a good time for trial and error
Starting point is 00:09:59 with your fucking munitions. That's for sure. You feel me? That's for fucking shit. No, I do think everyone has no matter how progressive or environmentally friendly you are whatever uh everyone has one ecological issue that they turn into fucking john rambo over you know what i mean johns is bears mine is coyotes
Starting point is 00:10:20 which is a real thing in southern california like in long beach we have rivers so the coyotes come down the rivers from the mountains where they're starving because of the drought right who is john rambo can we speak on that from the movie rambo john so like i don't i'm not fighting no fucking bear I want the people to kill that mother phone. No, but that's what I'm saying. You want Sylvester Stallone to show up with the machine gun. I want the machine gun. You feel what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:10:45 But that's what I'm saying. You want to employ the Rambo technique. Oh, okay, okay. How many bullets does it take to solve this bear problem? Somebody else to. Somebody else to. Right, right, right. But that's how I feel about coyotes off of the exact same rationale that you had, which is the more of these coyotes that are running around.
Starting point is 00:11:02 At some point, they're going to try and snatch someone's toddler. And at that point, as a city in Long Beach, we are going to turn into a everyone's roaming the street looking to shoot coyotes kind of a city. So why wait for it to happen? You know what I mean? Like, why not try and take care of it before it happens? So I understand your perspective. I just happen to like bears more than coyotes. So that's not my pet issue.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Have you seen a bear without its hair? It is a literal monster. It's evil. I don't think I ever have seen a bear without a hair. Look it up. Look it up. Look it up, bro. We talk about devils on this show.
Starting point is 00:11:37 That's a devil. That's a devil. Look at it and tell me that ain't a motherfucking devil, gee. Bro, you feel me? Put the blick act on that motherfucker there. You feel what I'm saying? Does this look more like a cursed cat or dog? It looks like a rodent to me.
Starting point is 00:11:56 The biggest, strongest, evilest rodent we've ever seen in our lives, bro. Gee, this looks like not a devil. this looks like the devil. That's the devil. That's the devil. Bro, so there's three of them, and one of them is Hank the Tank.
Starting point is 00:12:15 So shave the fur off Hank the Tank and see what Hank the Tank really looks like, bro. You know what I'm saying? Would I shave the beard off you, John? Bro, I got no beard? I wish you could shave a beard off me. Would I shave the, you know. If you saved the beard off me,
Starting point is 00:12:27 I'm going to look 18, gee. You feel me? You saw what I look like without that beard, bro? Lips stretched out, bro. I look like a young cop. You know what I'm saying? Fuck you mean. Problem.
Starting point is 00:12:41 No. You look like you were trying to restore your community. You feel me? I don't look like the devil, though. That motherfucker. Shit. You see how truly fierce than they are
Starting point is 00:12:49 when that hair is going, gee. Kill the motherfuckers. I'm trying to tell y'all. Yeah, I feel you. Okay. John has a hot take. It's not hot. It's a fact.
Starting point is 00:13:00 That Miles Bridges is the best rapper in NBA history. And I, Let's talk about it. I'll say this. Shack is the most popular, most successful. Dame is the most lyrical. Miles Bridges is the best.
Starting point is 00:13:14 That's the only motherfucker. Back in the day, because I was a kid, I was listening to fucking Shack. You know, Can't Stand the Rain is a fire ass song. That's the one. You know what I'm saying? But if I was in like, you know, excuse my language,
Starting point is 00:13:26 but if I was around the holes in high school, I'm not listening to Shack, Deng, you know what I'm saying? Put Miles Bridges on. And we have. with us a fun time, you feel me? Bro, you wouldn't even know Miles Bridges was a rapper if you didn't know he,
Starting point is 00:13:39 wasn't a rapper if you didn't know he whoed. You know what I'm saying? Like, you would think that was his main thing that he did to make a living. That's how good he is a rapping, bro. And it's that fun Detroit style, gee, I'm fucking with it. Yeah, I mean, I mean, you know, I fuck with Miles. I fuck with the whole Detroit scene. Like,
Starting point is 00:13:56 it's one of my favorite scenes right now, like Baby Face Ray, Icewear, Vezzo, Boldie, James. Like, I love what Detroit got going on, and I love that. Baby, you know, Rap. Yeah, Baby, Baby, Tronco too. You know, I love the whole fucking the rapid flow, you know, slightly offbeat shit that Detroit got going there. I love that shit. But man, it's
Starting point is 00:14:12 bro, like you said, can't stand the rain, man. I don't know if Shaq is a better NBA rapper than Miles Bridges, but that is the all-time best basketball rapper song, right? Like Shaq Shaq held his own on a track with Biggie. You know what I mean? And I
Starting point is 00:14:28 won't argue with anyone who says Biggie is the greatest to ever do. You see, I got some motherfucking you know, ready to die, fucking Funcoe in the back. I'm a big, biggie fan my damn self. But yeah, Miles is, like you said,
Starting point is 00:14:39 you would, if you didn't know he was a hooper, you would think he was just a rapper. Like, you wouldn't have had that confusion with Shaq necessarily. You know what I'm saying? So yeah, you know, I can definitely see
Starting point is 00:14:47 where you're coming from. Miles is cold. And Dame is lyrical, and I love Dane, but, you know what I'm saying? Like, just like Jay Cole, I got to be in the mood to listen to that type of rap.
Starting point is 00:14:55 You know what I mean? Miles, you just turn that on, you just turn that on, easy, listen, you feel what I'm saying? Yeah. I think no conversation Like best is always subjective And no conversation around best
Starting point is 00:15:05 Should be like based around Most commercially successful or whatever right Right Like I think you look at movies TV shows Like no one really feels like that's the best But I do think that it has some place In a conversation about the best Because you would never accept someone saying
Starting point is 00:15:18 I heard this dude rap In my high school And he's the best ever You know what I mean? Like there has to be And so to me How many people How many people tried to rap in Long Beach
Starting point is 00:15:28 Because of all this? Bro, I think like, the percentage probably had to be higher. And in St. Louis, it seemed like everybody I met was trying to be a rapper. But I think it would be higher in Long Beach with people actually having a chance to make it. At Long Beach, Polly High School, with a graduating class of 1,200 people, 600 or so of whom were boys. I would guess that 300 people in my graduating class had a demo. Hey, Snoop's impact, bro.
Starting point is 00:15:54 I mean, that's what, you know, like, yes, 100%. And this was when you had to, you had to. You know, I went mini viral pre-internet in high school for walking in. I was trying to go to the bathroom and I walked in the background of someone filming a freestyle in the hallway during class with the handicam. And the dude freestyled about a white dude walking in the background of his shot. And he's filming his freestyle. And everybody was like, oh, he's the greatest.
Starting point is 00:16:22 But to that point, right, like, your success in getting an audience has something to do with a conversation. And Shaq has a platinum and a gold fucking record, bro. Oh, for sure, for sure. I mean, but also at the time being Shaq, you couldn't do anything during that time period and not have a platinum or gold. You know what I mean? Because it was like 17 celebrities.
Starting point is 00:16:45 Dude, Shaq Fu. How many people wanted to watch Shaq fucking food, bro? We were buying video games that were horrible because Shaq was in them. You know what I mean? But that shit went double platinum. This shit's with Diamond. And he was fucking, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:58 and it was not a good game, you feel? me so okay let's talk about the sixers uh tyler said scary hours game one they just crumpled up and threw out the it's going to take a couple of months to you know get everyone together hardin goes for 33 to 32 they beat the timber wolves 133 to 102 um for real for real tyler what do we think um you know i i think that hardin and fucking imb are going to be a problem but i don't seem getting out the east i do think that that scary hours tweet that the six throughout. That is a cursed statement. You know, that's scary hours, like,
Starting point is 00:17:33 like Hardin put the same shit out after his first game with the Nets. We saw how that shit went. You know what I'm saying? I'm like, y'all are shooting yourselves in a foot before you even get started here. But the thing about it is, you know, did you see the clips of fucking Hardin and Indeed working out together after the game and shit? New teammate Hardin is the most
Starting point is 00:17:49 sir, yes, sir. Team first motherfucker you will ever see, bro. We'll see how long it lasts. You know, honeymoon Hardin, he's going to be the fucking teammate of the year. But we'll see how long on that shit last because I think a lot of us are expecting Harden to, you know, get into his fucking, you know, sulky funk. I don't want to be here anymore, shit.
Starting point is 00:18:06 But, you know, like I said, it's a hell of a duo with him and NB. We'll see what they do this postseason, but I don't, I don't see him coming out of the east. Have you trademarked Honeymoon Hardin? If that's yours, you need to trademark that motherfucker because that is beautiful. You feel me? I mean, I mean, they look good, obviously. They played against the Timberwolves. You're talking about scary hours.
Starting point is 00:18:24 It's a seventh team in the West. You know what I'm saying? Like, and I mean, like, dog, they look great. together, right? But we're going to see what happens when it really matters, you know? But, I mean, good for them. Enjoy the regular season. It won't last in the playoffs. You feel me? That's how I'll feel. But I mean, like, I think, I think they'll have fun. I think both of them on the same team will be a great time. You know what I'm saying? It'll be fun to watch. I got a fucking squad. You know what I mean? But I'm not, definitely not scary hours. Good win, though, guys. Good win.
Starting point is 00:18:52 I have a friend who has a theory that, like, everyone should stop making fun of people who let their New Year's resolutions go after January. And his theory is, like, if you're being healthy for one 12th of the year, that's better than not being healthy for zero 12th of the year. You know what I mean? Is it for 12th? I mean, conceptually, but, like, eating better for one month a year, right? So I think similarly lengthen your time on the planet from that one out of 12th? I don't think it balanced out of damage. I don't think it balanced out the damage or you felt better person or you felt better for one 12th of the year.
Starting point is 00:19:25 You know what ever makes you feel good guys. I don't know if it balances out though. But I think similarly, like, you know, maybe it goes to shit with James Hardin. But if he's in honeymoon phase for four months, that's to the end of the playoffs. That's not. We'll see. I mean, why the thing is, Hardin didn't lock in on an extension, did he? I know him and Morrie or homies and it was probably the handshake agreement, but.
Starting point is 00:19:52 It hasn't been papered. So let's see, man. Who knows? Ain't no Tyler with that dude, man. They should have never gave Tyler papered. They should have never gave Tyler paper. Oh, shit. Speaking of people that should never have been given things,
Starting point is 00:20:10 Tyler tweeted out a video of Rick Ross using a chainsaw. That is the scariest, this is the scariest horror movie of 2022. John, please look at that shit, man. I don't know. I'm very concerned for Mr. Renzel. I saw it, but I was mobile. I was right.
Starting point is 00:20:30 You know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, I tried to make sure I saw that shit before he hopped on because I knew he was going to talk about that. Yeah, yeah. And y'all know,
Starting point is 00:20:36 I'm a huge Ross fan. That's one of my favorite rap show ever. I think he's funny as fuck. Like, he's got a big personality. I'm a fan of that too. And I love the whole, you know,
Starting point is 00:20:46 estate upkeeping turn that Ross has made late as of late, right? Like, I remember last summer he told a story about how he doesn't, hire lawn care people. He calls his homies over. They smoke out and they got like five Rottamos that everyone hops on. I was like, that sounds like the fucking dream. I was like, call me over for
Starting point is 00:21:02 some shit like that. Please. Please. I'm tap it. Hell yeah. And there's a clip of him when he got a bull. Did y'all see that one? He got a bull that he brought on. And he's like, let me wait for my motherfucking cow and shit. So I love, I love estate
Starting point is 00:21:18 upkeeping Ross. But this shit right here scared the fuck out of me, bro. That shit is dangerous. Like, he could have fucking had, you know, we're talking about killing coyotes. This motherfucker could have had a wily coyote death just then. Like, he could, that motherfucker could have fell on him and hit him with the goddamn, you know, driving him into the ground and shit. I was scared as fuck watching that shit.
Starting point is 00:21:38 I ain't going to lie to you, bro. Wait. You talking about the duke, do you know, dude. Oh, yeah. But I think, like, he's probably, the person recording, I would imagine it would be, like, somebody who's a professional and tells you, this is how you cut it forward to fall. a particular way. I would hope so.
Starting point is 00:21:55 You know what I mean? Maybe not, though. He might have just said, yo, let's pull up to fucking Home Depot and grab a fucking saw and see what happens, you know? But I don't know. I think it's cool seeing rappers.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
Starting point is 00:22:21 for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.

Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. Starting point is 00:23:37 Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English.
Starting point is 00:23:54 Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you finishing that sentence.
Starting point is 00:24:22 I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests.
Starting point is 00:24:51 I'm talking. Trip Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people
Starting point is 00:25:06 scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:25:20 And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Starting point is 00:25:41 Like, you feel like me like this is Rick Ross. Accidentally cutting trees down on the house. The way he's been existing. for a long time has been super abnormal. Now he just wants to do lawn care, cut trees down. He's playing golf now. Regular hours, you know what I mean? Beautiful to see.
Starting point is 00:25:58 But yeah, if he didn't have a professional there, that's something. I wouldn't, I wouldn't do it. Not a tree, gee. Yeah, a tree. That is a, that is death waiting to happen. And expecting Rick Ross to have the reaction, you know, the quick, you know, quick, fast twitch muscles get out of the way of the tree. No.
Starting point is 00:26:18 That, we have seen that man, to moonwalk. He is not light on his toes. That calf might not have calf at the moment where it needed to calf. You know what I mean? It might have got ugly. I love Tyler asked for lumberjack Twitter to fucking slide into his mentions. I love niche Twitter. That's like to me that justifies all of the like horrible shit on Twitter is people where it's like, my life is lumberjacking. Like let me show you how he should have cut the wedge to make it fall on this.
Starting point is 00:26:47 Someone legit hopped in my shit with a fucking PowerPoint of all the shit that Rick Ross did wrong. I'm going to send y'all that shit with a legit powerboarder how to cut a tree down and listen to all the shit that Rick Ross did wrong. I'm going to send it to you out. I'm going to read that shit all right. Give me just a second. Calling on Lumberjack Twitter is a low-key flex. You have access to every part of Twitter. That man said, lumberjack Twitter, hit me up and they hit him up.
Starting point is 00:27:14 If Tyler, and I almost want you to do it right now, if Tyler tweeted right now, Cabinet Restoration Twitter tap in, by the end of the episode, he'd have 10 people like, what you need, G. Right, right. We got you. Send to Addy, we pulling up.
Starting point is 00:27:28 You feel me? Cabinet Restoration Twitter. Who did my man's kitchen bad? We're pulling up right now. You know what I'm saying? Bro. Oh, shit. Crazy.

Starting point is 00:28:10 In high school, I never really was like dating around or anything like that. And then I got into a long-term relationship and was dating someone for a few years. And then after getting out of that relationship, I think this past year or so or whatever, whatever, has been, like, actually living life as a single person. It's very hard. And I think it's not hard, like, not hard, I should say, but, like, it's very different, knowing nothing but long-term relationships. And then moving into, like, the single lifestyle that's, like, quote, dating around.
Starting point is 00:28:44 and like feeling people out. That's kind of been something interesting to navigate. But if a thinner girl does it, it's not that much of a big deal. And that's what I'm not okay with. Because why? Why? Because I have cellulite,
Starting point is 00:29:47 because I have thick thighs. I can't do that. I can't feel sexy in my own skin. And those are the things that I want to break because there are so many women like me and I want to be and represent us, you know. Obviously, there's always room for improvement. I always want to look better.
Starting point is 00:30:01 I want to work out. I want to lose weight. But in reality, this is the body God gave me and I've never really been skinny. Listen to the MyCultura podcast network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. We just can't see.

Starting point is 00:30:32 flood insurance. There's no rest for the West, but with flood insurance you can rest assured that you're ready for whatever else nature throws at you. Protect the life you've built at floodsmart.gov slash wildfires. Fanduil Sportsbook is an official sports betting partner of the NBA. And with Fanduals, same game parlay, you can turn little bets into big paydays,
Starting point is 00:30:55 looking at this Lakers Mavs game coming up. I am a self-hating Lakers fan who would pick every different aspect of another team succeeding at the Lakers. You could probably go ahead and take, you know, I'd probably take the overs on every role player on the Mavericks to have a career night against the Lakers because that's what tends to happen when people pay the Lakers. But same game parlays are not the only thing I love about Fandual Sportsbook. They also have payouts in as little as two hours. It's easy to use. It's safe and secure.

Gambling problem, call 1-800 next step. All right. Well, in my opinion, when this podcast is at its best, we've talked about this a lot.
Starting point is 00:32:08 There's genuinely just three people who are friends with each other talking the way that we actually talk as friends. And in my opinion, this shows it is best when it's a pretty direct reflection of what our group chat has been and how what we've been talking about. We have not been talking about any of the things that we just talked about because all three of us have been pretty much totally absorbed in the war in Ukraine with Russia invading. and we are not a geopolitical podcast. We are not the most informed people about this. We're not, I don't think particularly even trying to educate you about it, but we didn't feel like it was right to have a podcast where we just talked about something all week
Starting point is 00:32:51 and then we didn't talk about it on the podcast. So I spent the last 24 hours trying to think of how do I segue into talking about a heartbreaking, yeah, international crisis. You need a segue, Mike. No, I do need a segue, Mike. segue and I found the perfect segue. Okay, there we go. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Our MVP of the week is Anna Lynn McCord, an actor and Twitter poet. Who wrote a spoken word to Vladimir Putin apologizing to him for not being his mother because she felt like she could have nipped this in the bud with a little bit more motherly love. In defending her video, which got 23 million views from 23 million people who did not like it, the only thing the Internet's ever agreed on unanimously is that this was a bad idea. She said, quote, I know how easily I could have moved in the direction of becoming a dictator myself. And so she really views love as being the cure to everything. I hate those people.
Starting point is 00:34:01 I think they're actually the ops. Love cures all. Bits, are you living? Have you seen anything on this planet? That is the opposite of the truth. Quit lying about that. Quit lying about that. But, dog, like, was she wanting us to sympathize with Putin?
Starting point is 00:34:19 That seems like the angle. If he had a loving mother, he wouldn't be a fucking demon. Yeah. I doubt that's the truth. That was her actual thesis, yes. An adult doesn't have decisions. You know what I mean? People go through shit.
Starting point is 00:34:31 Bro, come on, dog. I hate that. Love. No, it doesn't. He's just a fucking evil human being. It just is. I can't believe she hit us with the, but for the grace of God,
Starting point is 00:34:43 there could have been, that could have been me about the fucking, the rube of the biggest fucking country on the planet. Right. No, you're not, no, the margin of error is not that slim, bro. Like, there's a lot of shit. A lot of evil diabolical fucking dominoes
Starting point is 00:34:59 that had to fall from Putin to get to where he is, bro. And he was with all that shit. She said had a butterfly, flapped its wings in Taipei at a different moment I could have been the one right no you couldn't have
Starting point is 00:35:11 look at this situation the oligarchs don't want the shit the citizens are are you know in the streets you know like saying they don't want it the prominent figures like you know the what is it the Klitsko brothers
Starting point is 00:35:27 you know what I'm saying Russian athletes for the first time in history they disagree with they disagree with Vladimir agree with Vladimir Putin. You know what I'm saying? Like, bro, nobody wants this but him. It's one ego maniac. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:35:40 Starting a war, potentially World War III. You know what I'm saying? And this is what you want us to sympathize with this motherfucker? Because his mom wasn't loving enough? Well, I don't even know that that's the case either. Maybe his mom was super loving.
Starting point is 00:35:53 Right. You know what I mean? She just felt like she had more love than whatever he received. This is frustrating. Melarkey. Markey. I say.
Starting point is 00:36:06 It's absurd. It's absurd. Certified malarkey. I just want to say this also. Keep white women away from spoken word poetry. That is an issue that the black community, we are trying to work through this ourselves. Fighting hard to get set.
Starting point is 00:36:22 Yeah, this is an ailment on our community that it's devastating our community that we're trying to work through ourselves. And we do not need white women hopping in here and muddling things up, okay? Mind your business, all right? That's hard, gee. Bro, spoken word has been a problem for a long time, gee.
Starting point is 00:36:38 People have been lying saying it's cool or thoughtful for way too long. Let's tell the truth. That shit is weak as fuck and she got a hold of it and made it worse. You know what I mean? I didn't make it get any worse, but for the grace of God. There go high. If he had more love, he wouldn't. Come on.
Starting point is 00:37:02 God. Okay, so there's our segue to talking about this. I do think it's important to talk about it, and I've been reading, listening to everything, and watching everything I could. I haven't had CNN on for a week straight, and I don't even fucking know how long. But, yeah, but, you know,
Starting point is 00:37:22 seeing people actually reporting from the ground has certainly been perspective altering. I just think the thing all three of us were talking about, and we come at the world from a perspective. John and I do of, having little kids, and I just think that changes the way you see all this shit. But, you know, I know for Tyler, too, all three of us are just like, can you fucking imagine? Like, we actually have air raid sirens in Long Beach because of World War II.
Starting point is 00:37:47 Like, there's one around the corner from my house. It's never in my 37 years on this planet. Has it ever occurred to me that it might go off? You know what I mean? And that's the hardest thing for me to wrap my head around is like, everyone you know, going through this like that. Like, they were talking about, you know, in Kiev, in the capital two weeks ago, it was like going to L.A. or New York.
Starting point is 00:38:09 Like two weeks ago. Right, right, right. And there's holes in apartment buildings and people in subways, you know, and shit like that. It's just that, that's the part of it to me that I just can't. I've been thinking about it nonstop
Starting point is 00:38:20 to be completely not. I've been thinking about it when I drop my kids off at school. I've been thinking about it when I'm covering games. I've been thinking about it at dinner. Like, I just can't get that out of my head,
Starting point is 00:38:28 that suddenness. Yeah. It's because we have, we have no frame of reference of the brutalities of war. as an average American citizen because nothing has happened on our soil. You know what I'm saying besides 9-11, right? Like 9-11 in Pearl Harbor, that's it.
Starting point is 00:38:41 You know what I mean? And the last war that was fought on American soil was the Civil War fucking 160 years ago. Like we do not, we kind of, I think most Americans view war is an abstract thing where they will not be affected by, you know, directly. And that's, you know, the truth of it. We don't have to worry about, am I going to die in an air rate tonight? Am I going to wake up tomorrow morning and see a fucking caravan? of tanks, you know, riding down my block, you know, taking over my city. That's not something that Americans have ever had to deal with. And like I said, a lot of, I don't think a lot of
Starting point is 00:39:12 Americans grasp the magnitude of the horror of what war truly is. Which is why people were joking about it, which, you know, I'm not judging anybody, maybe a little bit, but not, you know, I understand there's different ways of dealing with stuff. But I mean, this shit just ain't a joke to me. Nothing's funny about it. I am judging. I am judging because if you're going to joke about, look, if you were, we told jokes at my dad's funeral after he, you know, after he, you know, that's your dad's funeral, though. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:39:36 But the jokes were fucking funny, too. And if you made a joke at my dad's funeral that wasn't funny, we were judging the fuck out of you. And most of the jokes people were getting off were not funny. So that's where I'm judging them is like, you want to make some jokes about drafts or whatever, bro? You better be fucking funny because it's real people that are suffering right now. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:39:53 I'm with John, like, we all process trauma in different ways. I always make jokes. But if you're not being funny, you're just like, oh, let me get my same. joke I made off the last time there was an international crisis. Like, shut the fuck up. Also, this isn't people dying.
Starting point is 00:40:09 This isn't people dying. There's potentially the changing their entire life. These people that don't die that are leaving have to leave their homes. They don't want to return back to Ukraine if it's under Russian rule. You know what I'm saying? Like, they're leaning more Euro right now.
Starting point is 00:40:22 You know, and that's the way that most of the citizens want to go. It'll be a totally different life if they were to come back to people that didn't die. You know what I'm saying? So, like, I mean, and one thing I've realized, too, is that, you know, American
Starting point is 00:40:33 patriotism is a farce, bro. Ukrainians are really balked that shit. You know, Zalinski's like, I'm not leaving. I'm outside, gee. We hear it with it. You feel me? We see the lady that pulled up to the, to the Russian military dudes and, like, said, you know, here's some sunflower
Starting point is 00:40:47 seeds. So when you die, some flowers come in your and, you know, after your death. You know what I mean? I'm just planting flowers in my homeland. You feel me? You feel me? You feel me? For after we plant you in the dirt. And during the annexation of Kermian in, like, 2014, like we, I'm hearing about, you know, I'm reading
Starting point is 00:41:01 about the Ukrainian military, like, collapsing, and, like, students and professors are running into the streets. You know, there's just one story about this dude that was one of those people that ran in the streets who met a military, a young Ukrainian soldier who was, like, 20 years old, he talked to him about his family and all that shit. Like, 30 minutes or 40 minutes later, he hears that the soldier, you know, died on the battlefield, and he, you know, and he said, this is not something, I will never forget, he said, I will never forget that moment. And most importantly, I'll never forgive for that moment. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:41:31 They're very anti-Russian, you know what I'm saying? And they have to, and this is what's happening. And it's all due to one person because the oligarchs aren't supporting it. The citizens aren't supporting it. The prominent people in Russia, like I said, are not supporting it. And this dude who has been in isolation for two years since, you know, has come out even more. Unhinged.
Starting point is 00:41:51 Right, right. It's been a couple more unhinged. You know, and I was, I didn't think it was going to happen. I told you. I thought he was kind of, he was bluffing. I'm like, this dude is crazy, but he's more calculated than crazy. I was wrong. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:42:04 And I was told that I was reading, I heard in the podcast, I mean, it was a daily. They were saying that they didn't think he even had money to even stay on the border for much longer. You know what I'm saying? Let alone start a war. But it makes me think that, you know, maybe China, people were saying that China is funding this shit, that he had money ducked off in China too. So these sanctions that, you know, Biden is supposed to cripple them won't have that same effect. also this can embolden China to take over Taiwan.
Starting point is 00:42:30 Like this, I mean, I'm not a, like you said, we're not professions, but I've been tapping into this geopolitical news, which is fascinating. And it's like scary how, in a global society, how we're all affected by this. So like, you know, the jokes just weren't funny to me. You know what I'm saying? They just weren't, like, it's impossible to make a funny joke in this situation. When, you know, I'm paying attention to all of this shit. It's just, you know, I don't know, man.
Starting point is 00:42:52 It's, it was, that day was full of sadness, you know, for when, when that, shit happened because I just didn't believe it was maybe I was, you know, naive, but I didn't believe it was going to happen, but it looked like most Ukrainians thought it wasn't happening either because they've been under that dark cloud of potential war since 2014. You know what I mean? And this, like the Ukrainian
Starting point is 00:43:11 Russo conflict has been going back to like, I think, the 17, 1800s. So it's been constant between them. You know, it's just sad, bro. I mean, but, you know, something that we discussed in the group chat was, I'm not at all playing about something like this. Yeah, yeah. You know, I told you.
Starting point is 00:43:27 that, you know, this dude is 70 years old. I think he views this as his curtain call. I think he knows that clock is ticking. And he wants to go down as either the dude who, you know, restored Russia to its former glory or the dude who burned this motherfucker down. And I think either one will work out for him, honestly. And that's the scary part. And that is the, this is the argument.
Starting point is 00:43:50 I mean, there's, you know, a thousand great arguments. But this is the argument against the existence of nuclear weapons, bro. You can't build a weapon like that unless you can guarantee it's never going to end up in the hands of someone who's 70. Who doesn't give a fuck? Believes that his country has a divine right to another independently existing country. And it's just like, you know, like you said, I mean, potentially removed of any thought or concern about consequences. Like, I think where the three of us first started talking about this was the first time he went up to a podium and was talking insanely recklessly about the possibility of. nuclear war. I mean, and it was just like, you know, I know people on Twitter joke all the time about
Starting point is 00:44:31 like, and the planet now or, you know, like, when's the asteroid you head, but like, we don't have, we don't, we don't have access to the button. You know what I mean? Right. Exactly. And also, I never particularly find those jokes funny because like, I don't, I'm not that concerned to be completely honest about my own life in the grand scheme of the universe, but I'm very concerned about my kids life. You know, and like what world they're going to grow up in and, and whether that world exists or half of it's fucking radioactive or whatever so it's just like to me i i you know i said in the group chat i think there should just be some if there's one thing we should be able to agree on as a planet every country it's that if anyone threatens nuclear war that should be it
Starting point is 00:45:15 i mean you know what i mean they should put a bag on them you forfeit the right to breathe oxygen on this planet you know because you're talking about too many lives and people, you know? And so that to me is, and listen, I understand anytime something happens, every, anytime literally anything happens, people get on Twitter and say, well, what about this other thing? None of us are suggesting that if you lived in Afghanistan
Starting point is 00:45:41 or if you live in other war-torn parts of the world, that, you know, you don't deserve the attention and sympathy that people in Ukraine are getting, the reason I think that this is arresting everyone's attention the way it is, It's not just because it's European countries or whatever. It's because you have a guy who has one of the biggest nuclear arsenals on planet Earth talking the shit he's talking right now recklessly about the rest of the planet. That to me is what's, fortunately, that's just not something that we have particularly had to think about or deal with.
Starting point is 00:46:18 Certainly not in this country, as Tyler said. I have a question. And maybe we cut this. I'm wondering what y'all think about the neo-Nazi issue that's going on in Ukraine. I know it's a direct result of, you know, the Crimean, you know, annexation. And it's a very small percentage similar to the far right here. You know what I mean? But I mean, going back to articles like 2018, where that could be an issue in the future.
Starting point is 00:46:51 I believe that I know Putin is using that you know what I'm saying to as propaganda he's not going to you know it's just gonna make those people more far right you know what I'm saying
Starting point is 00:47:03 but like I don't know how you how do y'all feel about that have you all tapped into that shit you're talking about as far as as Putin manipulating that as a justification to yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah it's bullshit yeah that's why I'm
Starting point is 00:47:17 I'm in English you know what I'm saying like you know I mean come on like yeah yeah there's there's huge neo-nazi populations all over fucking yeah yeah in fucking America too all over the planet really so no yeah I'm not buying that um but but something that you know fucking disgust to me was I don't know if you guys saw the clip of the the the the Africans who are African citizens of Ukraine who are being denied entrance onto the trains out of Ukraine and shit did you all see that is it is it into Poland yeah yeah yeah bro yeah
Starting point is 00:47:51 See, that's, that's, that's, that's just like, bro, even, even at our worst times, people will still be their absolute worst. You know what I'm saying? And that's the shit that gets me. That's what, that's, that's where I met as a black person. That's where, you know, when I'm looking at this shit, we're like, dog, like, you know, I'm over here, like, praying for the ghost of key. You know what I mean? Like, I'm like, I hope this, you know, we rooting for these motherfuckers. Like, you know, understanding, like, you know, that, that this is an unfair, horrible situation.
Starting point is 00:48:16 And, and, and thinking about their children, thinking about their, the humanity of them. And then that we see shit like that. You feel me? And then I tap in even further and see like the far right who are like, you know, anti-Russian, but also don't fuck with us. Don't fuck with me either. You know what I mean? And it's, and for it to seem like a normal way of existing because they aren't even allowed,
Starting point is 00:48:41 you know, they're not allowing Africans to go, you know, to leave the country, you know. And that's not just the far right that are feeling that way. So it's, it's, it's hard. I mean, obviously the situation is, you know, Russia isn't the wrong. But these things are so complicated when you, as far as for me, watching them and learning about them, when you see like the people that I am rooting for, you know, and it's still rooting for the, in general, the general population, you know, are, feel this way as well.
Starting point is 00:49:12 I think, you know, racism is obviously a general human disease, not specific to this country or time, but I think there are a number of studies showing that people are at their worst when they're at their most desperate, right? Like, racism is worse in poorer communities because there's more desperation, right? I mean, it's, addiction's worse in poorer communities. Like, all of the things that are bad about people
Starting point is 00:49:41 are heightened by putting those people in difficult situations. And so I think that's, Yeah, I mean, that doesn't. I had not seen that video, but that doesn't. It doesn't particularly surprise me to hear that people who are as desperate as they are, that, you know, those worst parts of the humanity come out too. Obviously, what we've more so seen reporting on is on the, you know, the better parts of humanity coming out as well.
Starting point is 00:50:08 And I think all three of us have been kind of blown away. I didn't know anything about Zelensky a month ago. Yeah. This dude, like someone was explaining to me, this dude is like John Stewart. Like this dude is just like he's a comedian, like a politically aware comedian who he won there dancing with the stars. You know, six years ago or some shit.
Starting point is 00:50:27 And he, uh, he, it was like he became the front runner because he played the president of Ukraine on a TV show. And everyone was like, yeah, he seems like he'd be a good president.
Starting point is 00:50:37 And that dude is standing with more backbone than had like, have we seen an American politician, we feel like would go out when he knows there's a bounty on his head. and an invading army actually at the edge of his city and go stand out on the streets and be like, I'm here. I mean, like that's the craziest shit I've ever seen, bro.
Starting point is 00:50:58 I couldn't have believed that. Ted Cruz, weak-ass, flew to the fucking tropics during an ice storm. Our politicians are not built like that, bro. That's the exact moment when I was like, American Patriots is a farce. That is the exact moment.
Starting point is 00:51:13 You know what I mean? I was like, because you were running through the Rolodex in your head of like, Right, right. Nope. Huh? Huh?
Starting point is 00:51:17 No. No. This is, you know, they really bought that. And, you know, I mean, I'm, I'm praying for him and his, in his family as well. I mean, for a man to say that, like, you know, I'm the number one target and my family is the second target. You feel me? Like, I just, I just, bro, how am I going to laugh? You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:51:34 How am I going to crack a joke when this is what's, I mean, when he's, he's like, you know, hey, they're not going to listen to us. You're pleading to the Russian people. You know what I mean? You know, like, and they're not going nobody, no, but he's, you know, desperation. You know, please, you know, get out in the streets and protest. And people are. Thousands of people have gotten to the out of the streets and protested. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:51:57 That's the shit to me. I mean, you know, I was in college when we invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. And we were, you know, a lot of people protest. A lot of us were out there protesting. None of us was worried about ending up on a Russian shit list. You feel me? You know what I mean? You saw old boy talking.
Starting point is 00:52:14 I mean, talk about shook ones. Man's could barely get a sentence out. And I understand it completely because the next word could have been a word that decided his fate. You know what I'm talking about in the meeting with the meeting. In the meeting. He televised. Yes. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:52:25 His security advisors and the oligarchs said to him, like, you got to like, we're trying to, life is pretty good for us in the Western economy, bro. We're not trying to be isolated for that. And Putin just looked at him as like, this is a necessary security measure. But what he's really saying, I don't care how much money you have in the bank. Right. You're not in the bank right now. You're in front of me, Bubba.
Starting point is 00:52:49 You know what I'm saying? You know, you had 2,000 anti-war protesters arrested in Russia on the first day of this shit. And it's, you know, they're talking on CNN. It's like, these people were warned beforehand that any arrest for protesting because they did not have the right to do that there. They basically were like,
Starting point is 00:53:06 it's going to be on your permanent record. I think the warning in Russian was, this will follow you for the rest of your life. Right. You know, preventing you for getting jobs. and such. You know, this is life ruining. Yeah, that's, that's the, like you said, that's the, that's the, that's the scenario they will put on television. You feel what I'm saying? That don't, that don't speak about. You
Starting point is 00:53:23 feel what I mean? Like, I don't know, just a, it's a bad situation, dog. I wouldn't say we're the most optimistic podcast in the world, but I don't think that any of the three of us are like true cynics necessarily. Do you, either of you have any belief? Like, I've been a little bit touched by how together the world has been. If, It feels like if you're like a common sense person, the world has felt kind of lonely over the last decade or so, right? Like, you know, the stuff with Trump getting elected, everything else, you're just like, do you know what else see? Like, I understand, even if you're a lunatic fucking racist or whatever. You don't understand how it's a bad idea to have an idiot clown like this in charge of nuclear weapons.
Starting point is 00:54:02 Like, there's been all these common sense things where you're like, it makes you feel crazy sometimes looking at the world, right? I've been heartened to see the way that so many people, like, they've even shamed something. of these pro-Putton Republicans into eating their own fucking words. Like I've been heartened to see the way people have come together around. No, democracy is good. Right, right. Even if we don't fuck with Democrats, democracy is good. Right.
Starting point is 00:54:27 You know what I'm saying? Right. And so, you know, I've been a little heartened by that. Do either of you have any hope in your heart or head that this horrible thing leads us into a better world or an appreciation for certain things maybe that have been taken for granted in a. our lifetimes. No.
Starting point is 00:54:46 No. Not at all. Yeah. I think if this leads to Putin being disposition somehow, some way it can lead to a safer world. There we go. Better, though. You know.
Starting point is 00:55:00 I take safer is better to me. Yeah. I'll take that as. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we don't have somebody that will say, no, we won't win this war if NATO jumps in, but we can make it so that everybody loses.
Starting point is 00:55:13 You know what I mean? due to us being a nuclear power, it'd be great if that person wasn't on this planet anymore. You feel what I'm saying? If a bag was dropped on that head, other than that, you know, I don't see, like, we're going to go right back to hating each other here. You know what I mean? It's my life or my child's life probably won't be changed due to this situation or due to the result of this situation. Bye. Bye.
Starting point is 00:55:38 But fuck. But, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but. Enjoy your Monday. But. But on the bright side, we can all remain safe from spoken word poetry. Right, right. I don't know we may say. It still hasn't been stomped out yet.
Starting point is 00:55:55 We have it. Control what you can control. Right, right. Right. Okay, how about this? Do we have hope that this will lead a public sentiment against spoken word poetry at levels at which we have not seen in decades? You know, maybe we'll get a groundswell against spoken word poetry.
Starting point is 00:56:11 I'm not confident in that either. Keep them stack with you No, you're going to bat against the Hotep anti-vax crowd. Like them and the spoken word crowd is like one circle on a Vindogram. You're not budging them off of that shit, bro. The person I know from my life experience
Starting point is 00:56:30 that is most into spoken word has a completely shaved head and a dread like ponytail here. A dread. That person cannot be that is not a real. That is not a reasonable human. These are the type of people that we are going against, okay?
Starting point is 00:56:49 We need prayer, okay? I'm going back to Jesus. That's where I'm going. That's where I'm going. I'm opening my Bible again, gee. Knocking the dust off that thing, you feel me? All right, man. Everybody stay safe.
Starting point is 00:57:03 Everybody remain as grateful as possible for the things we take advantage of, take for granted in our lives, you know, the security. as we were talking about early. We appreciate you guys. We appreciate that, you know, we get to count this as a job to talk through fun shit and scary shit with each other
Starting point is 00:57:21 and that enough of you guys fuck with that, you know, that we could be here. So thank you all for that. I want to say one thing. I once said real niggas have ugly feet. I've been fucking with my socks on for 20 years, got my feet done.
Starting point is 00:57:33 I lied to y'all, baby. Real niggas don't have ugly feet. It didn't have to be this way, okay? Go get you a petty. Toxic masculinity had me out here limping because of calluses on my feet, all right? It's cool to be able to put equal weight on both feet, all right? Y'all have a good Monday. Can I ask you a question?
Starting point is 00:57:52 You weren't ticklish when you weren't ticklish during the pedig? That's why I've never got in for a better. They tickled the hell out of the boy. But it only is, it's worth it. It was like 40 seconds that's, you know, like, I'm just worried I'm going to kick someone in the head, you know what I mean? You got to tighten up. Tighten up.
Starting point is 00:58:06 Tighten up. You got to tighten up, gee. You know what I'm saying? And now you're back to toxic masculinity. You know what I mean? It has his place. It has his place. When it prevents you from kicking a woman who's, you know, in their fucking face.
Starting point is 00:58:17 Yes. Good for it. You know what I mean? Talk. Mike. Mikael. Anyway. All right.
