Welcome to Jenkinson Jones on the Volume Podcast Network.
It's Thursday, October 6th, and we've got all kinds of nonsense.
And Tom Fuller to talk about with you, as always.
Jenkinson Jones, hosted by my buddies, Legerethro,
Jenkins, aka John.
What's that, Bubba.
Dragonfly Jones, aka Tyler.
Hey, everybody.
How again?
Oh.
That was like a pinky up, like nerd.
Like that.
How's it going?
I'm Garvey, aka Mike, and we have to start
by updating everyone on our favorite news story
in the history of news stories,
the fissiest story of all time.
John texted me fucking last night and was like, we have to talk about, we have to update the fish story.
It was like, how fucking dare you think that I wouldn't do the show with the fish story for the second straight episode?
That was my fault.
I apologize.
I apologize.
I'll admit when I'm wrong and I'm definitely wrong.
Thanks to everyone who's been tweeting at us about this story the last couple of days.
Every time I'm a little stressed about something with work or whatever and then I open Twitter up and someone has tweeted me something about this story, it just like makes me feel like a fucking nine-year-old laughing at a fart joking.
again, so I really appreciate it.
But we have further details,
including that
the pair of cheating fishermen
are indeed likely facing federal fraud charges
and further details around the moment
when they knew they were cheating,
which was my favorite detail.
They held them up.
The 33 pounds wasn't your favorite detail?
That was fucking insane.
They put 17.
pounds of weights in these fish
so that they weighed 33 pounds.
Someone else had fish that weighed 16 pounds
and looked at their fish and said,
my fish are bigger than their fish.
How do they weigh more than twice as much as my fish?
That was my favorite part
when they said after they announced
that their catch was 33 pounds,
they said there was no applause.
A hush came over the crowd.
And then the muttering started.
That is journalism right there, buddy.
One thing I want to mention was that I did say I was surprised that people were so mad
and it didn't like result to at least fisticups.
And it was because like there were cops there.
They had, you know, like, the guy specifically said, if there were not police or guards
there, they would have turned into peat, like, smaller bits than the actual fish.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
They were cut up and putting their fish.
But 33 pounds, 17 pounds of weights, that's more weights than the actual fish.
You could have caught five more.
fish and put them in that fish.
The five fish you did catch.
That is so fucking flagrant
to me. Insane.
Like we talked about last time when
someone in the crowd yelled, call the cops and someone said,
it's about 15 undercover.
Off-duty cops right there. Call the me.
We found out the motherfucker got in the fish
and opening the taking the weights out was a cop.
He was a all-duty cop.
Right there firsthand, dog.
What's crazy as we looked
at the sport of fishing
is something that was like, you know,
You know, you couldn't sully that, you know what I mean?
But I guess there's rampant cheating, it seems,
or people will catch fish prior.
They said as many ways of cheating as you can think of.
And they have polygraph tests, like, you know what I'm saying?
Like after they have a lie detector test, after every single one.
And what's wild is?
And they added 17.
You said what?
And one of the dudes failed one like a year ago.
One of the dudes failed one.
And they added 17 pounds while fighting that case trying to get that money back.
He was trying to get his money that.
he lost back and added 17 pounds of fucking weight.
Like, it's so idiotic, bro.
Crazy.
We've all had the moment where you got a little game running and you just get too greedy.
Whether that's with a relationship, whether it's with the Target Corporation, whether it's
with gas reimbursements at your job, whether it's with realizing you could change your
grade on a paper because we grew up in the pre-internet.
that era, but as Bart Simpson heard from Homer Simpson, when he tried to turn a F to an A,
the B was right there, son.
You may have got away with that B.
Well, they only had to be top 20 to be to win the overall prize as the best, you know,
like team or whatever again that year.
Like maybe one.
But also, like you could have just added like one of the fillets, one or two of the fillets.
And you know what I mean?
You went crazy.
You absolutely lost your mind, bro.
When you on Coke while on the fucking boat?
You know what I'm saying?
Like to add that much weight is insane.
Where the second team was half the weight of your catch.
With the same number of fish.
Number two.
Like you were like with the same amount of fish.
You know, the brother's insane.
But if they just, if they put 13 pounds less of weight in,
they still would have won by four pounds.
Like.
And they, bro, and, what's funny is like, I think, what was the other day?
Kaminsky just left.
That motherfucker.
They said he was, he was on the freeway by the time.
When he said, when he said 33 pounds and there was a hush, that motherfucker threw that
ninja dust and was out of there, you feel me?
He was also like, why are they there?
Why are they still there?
You know what I mean?
But old boy said that you can see him in his face.
Yep, we went too far this time.
You can see it on his face, bro.
Like you said, got a little too green.
Crazy.
That come up as doesn't taste good.
It just, I know that hurts.
And it's like you just, but I'm torn between John, your idea from the last show that someone owes someone money or someone has a habit.
Or just thinking they had a good game going.
They had a good little con.
And they just lost sight of the perspective.
Because I did see the deal with the fish filet was it was not just in there as stuffing.
They bought specifically.
fillet of the same kind of fish
that they knew they'd be catching
wrapped the weights in the
fillet because they
had the idea someone might
cut the fish open
and if they do it would be the same kind
of fish meat in there.
But it's skin
on the fish meat and it's
unattached fish meat.
It is loose fish meat.
It's like if you just put a goddamn
if you just put a lung inside
of my body, I'm going to have three lungs.
bro. Like a lung is just going to fall out.
A standalone lung. Oh, that's just
that's just the third lung. He's got a floater in there.
But this is the unanswerable question. Is that the move
of someone who is desperate or the move of someone who is overconfidently
stupid? I don't know.
There's definitely, I think part of it is stupidity.
Part of it stupidity. But for them, they're like,
they compare this to like, they said they were better fishermen than Tiger.
is a golfer.
Like, so they're, so like, they compared it.
I don't know if you read the whole thing,
but you're saying, like, it's, it's, it's, it's like,
because of all the very, like the thing that,
the varying, like, the weather and all that type of shit,
like, are the fish, the spots you choose and all that.
The amount of luck it takes to win as much as they were winning.
The variance is huge.
Yeah, it was, you know, it's, it's, like,
virtually impossible to do what they were doing, right?
So there was already whispers, you know what I mean?
So the fact that you're cheating,
to that level while there's whispers,
you're fighting a fucking failed lie detector test,
all right?
And then you add 17,
but you can't,
there has to be some stupidity involved.
Has to be.
I don't give a fuck how,
you know,
like there's some definitely stupidity involved.
But to me,
there's desperation as well.
You know, like those two,
all those things add up to desperation
and definitely like flat out ignorance.
It's crazy.
I think the three of us have all gotten up
to funny, dumb shit in our lives.
But if y'all ever catch me
wrapping metal in fish to stuff inside another fish.
Just like, tell me you're going to call my mom or something.
You know what I mean?
Like, pull me back from the break, please.
Like, that is something a kid will say that stupid
if they saw their friend trying to do that.
You know what I mean?
Right.
Right.
Would be like, that's fucking idiot.
It's just, it's the level of ignorance there.
You know what I'm saying?
For people that are professional at this, but there has to be some desperation.
And I do believe there's some coke involved too.
There's some coke.
There's for sure some coke.
There's definitely coke there.
And it was probably on the boat, you know what I mean?
But Jesus Christ.
I think it was Kamiski's idea, too.
I think it was because he just left.
It seems like a Runyon, it seems like a Runyon idea to me.
I don't know.
You're not going to let you pin this on Kaminsky.
No, no, no, no.
Runyon stayed.
Rudy and stayed and dealt with the, you know what I mean?
He was like, oh, we got caught, you know what I mean?
Like, you know, he stayed there and was like, this is my, this is what I have to deal with.
Kamiski shook.
So I think of Kamiski came.
I think he, I think it was, I think a lot of the ideas were probably his, but.
I told this motherfucker this shit wasn't going to work.
That's the face he had.
You know what I mean?
God damn it.
Well, and then they had the interview when he was saying, like, we're trying to clear our name.
They ran our name through.
the mud our legacy
bro you were putting
handmade weights in
fish mouths wrapped in other
fish bro
we saw it now what legacy motherfucker all of us
y'all they shit right everybody
saw it bro he's trying to say
the video is green screen or something we have
video of them opening the fish
they ran our name through the mud I think he was talking about the shit
prior when they were like you know
when the the whispers that were going on
prior to the fish opening in the
the mutters that followed, but...
Whispers, hey.
Call them everything but a child of God
in that motherfucking video, dog.
Sheesh.
There's not always...
This is the best shit that happened all summer.
Not always fire where there's smoke,
but where there's whispers,
eventually there's muttering, you know?
Eventually.
All right.
I know all three of us got a chance to see,
maybe get a little look at the future
of the NBA last night.
Tyler came out of this game.
much higher on Scoot Henderson that he'd been.
I'm excited to talk about that,
but we obviously have to start by talking about
Victor Wenbenyama.
I don't know what.
I mean, I feel like as people who follow basketball closely,
I'm texting my other group chats
that aren't really that into basketball,
like just sending them clips.
And they're responding as though they're seeing
the sun implode or something.
They're like, what the fuck is this?
What is that?
What is that, right?
I don't even think it's a hot,
to say this is the best prospect since Braun.
I'm not saying, yeah, I'm not saying he's as good a prospect as Brown.
I want to be clear on that.
But he is the best prospect we've seen since 2003 for sure.
The shit that what was amazed me is that, you know, we saw him doing stepback threes.
We saw him mixing it up, you know, protecting the rim.
We saw him taking people off the trip.
We saw him, you know, working the post back to the basketball.
It was like the dude does it all.
He's a legit creator player, bro.
We've never seen anything like that kid.
Yeah, he's a dude.
make to just that all 99s like how dominant he was on the defensive end as well as the
offensive end was like it's incredible and just like his feet how you know i watch feet a lot
his feet has such good feet on both ends for his size you know the stepbacks the bag is deep
you know i mean like you i'm i don't feel like i'm not saying he's going to be as skilled as kd
but i don't like you know i talk about don't compare these dudes to gods well i've got to compare
him to a god when talking about wimby you know what i'm saying like
Like, what the fuck else I'm going to do a 7-4 guy with a bag like that going 7 from 11 from 3,
which I don't know if that's consistent, but that's what we saw last night.
And then, like, defensively, he was so fucking good where he could guard guards.
You know what I mean?
Like, his, his bottom level is, is Gobert, go-beer, you know what I mean?
Like, you can't play, like, he defends the rim like, like, Gobert, but he can, you can't play him off the court because his feet are good,
where he can recover when he's guarding guards and gets blown by.
He did that a couple times against school.
No, taking people's jumpers clean out the fucking air.
You know what I mean?
It's just like it's, it's the off, the off ball defense was insane too.
But like, I was, I have never seen no shit like that.
And we could talk about how slimmy is, but his frame, like his, his waist is like as big as my shoulders.
He could get more bashed on that.
His frame is not that slim.
It's not slim.
He's skinny.
But he's broad.
You know what I mean?
So, I don't, I mean, honestly, video games don't even let you create.
players like this anymore, right?
Like, don't know if you get up to 7-4.
I think they stop you in your life, 7-2.
You got to calm the fuck down at some point.
You can't shoot threes too.
You don't start paying money for that shit.
You know what I mean?
Like as soon as you moved that 3-meter all the way up,
that speed meter is going to drop or some shit, right?
You're not going to get the whole fucking total package.
But I think, you know, if you've ever been around a group of NBA players,
this is a collection of human beings that already don't make sense physically
in the context of regular human beings.
And now you're taking a rookie next year
and bringing in someone who doesn't make sense
in that group of people.
It is really like, I'm trying to explain to people.
Like, it was like seeing a dinosaur
walking through the park or some shit.
Like, his wingspan is eight inches bigger than KDs.
That's insane.
Eight inches.
What the fuck.
And in basketball, your wingspan is really your height, right?
I mean, like, he has an eight-foot.
wingspan on a seven foot four inch frame.
This shit doesn't make any sense.
This is a league where someone tweeted this out.
Three people averaged over a block a game last season.
This motherfucker is just like,
he's going to get three blocks without even jumping.
Did you see the steel he had on Scoot?
Where like, like, the motherfucker was like behind the three point line.
Scoot was probably two feet away.
He reaches.
see him reaching and you see his hand behind Scoot's body.
It looks like a horror movie.
It looks like a horror movie.
That's some go-go gadget shit.
Jay and Dundee.
They tweeted a screen grab that really it looked like a horror movie.
Yes, that's what I'm talking about.
It's like he's reaching.
He's committing a foul if he has any other body on Earth.
And the fact that like he has the like the hand eye coordination to be able to touch a ball that
far from his fucking eye.
You know what I'm saying?
Without foul.
It's, bro.
it's fucking wild, bro.
It's wild, bro.
But like, like you said,
like he's the best,
you know,
like best process
we've seen since Brian easily.
And like, you know,
I mean,
if we,
we talk,
I mean,
the only person we've seen
to be as size
that not really deal
with injury issues
is, is Janus.
But like you said,
we talked about this frame.
His frame has that build
where you could,
what is built where,
you know what I'm saying,
you could add the type of weight
that Janus has.
It's just not normal,
bro.
And,
and,
and if,
if this is where,
basketball is going?
I'm, I'm,
it's,
it's,
I'm taking many to batting practice tonight.
Right.
Bro.
You can play basketball with your homies,
but it's not a pursuit.
You know what I mean?
But look,
also like the type of three,
it wasn't like he just caught,
he's a catch and shoot three point shooter.
Like,
catch and shoot off the dribble,
step back,
in transition.
Motherfucker.
This is,
what can't you do?
That one play went when he called it
and the defender wasn't going to be able to close out on them on time.
So the stepback wasn't for separation.
It was a step back just to get behind the three-point line and hit that shit.
Right, exactly.
I was like, God damn.
Yeah.
Right.
I just want the three over the two right now, bro.
It has nothing to do with you.
This is me.
This is me.
This isn't you.
This is me.
It's just math.
Three is more than two, baby.
I'm sorry.
The defender's 35 feet below his release point.
Right, right.
He's four steps away and a foot and a half shorter, you know?
Right.
There's literally nothing anybody can say that make me say like, you know,
know, they, they, they reach it.
Like any, any of the, other, other, we're talking about Katie here.
We're talking about the best, you know what I'm saying,
player we've seen coming to the draft since Brown.
And all of them are right.
It all makes sense.
But what, to what Tyler said, and none of us are saying he's going to be better than
KD or better than Braun, but what you have to acknowledge is he's, like I said,
by wingspan, he's eight inches bigger than KD.
He's going to be the tallest player in the NBA the day he's drafted.
he's taller than Taco Fall
who was like
and I love Taco from his college days
but he's almost like a side show signing right
let's see if something works out here
he's taller than that guy
Taco Fall is not a basketball player
you know what I mean like
it's a 7 foot 3 let's see if something
works out this dude is 7 foot 4
and as all of the
shit you'd want a 6 foot
7 dude down
Hooper
but Tyler I loved you were really one of the only people
I saw giving love to Scoot too.
And I was glad that you did that because I think this is a kid who is being quite literally
overshadowed, obviously, by one Mnayama.
But he's a pretty legit number one pick in almost every other draft.
Yeah, yeah.
This was my introduction to Scoot.
Victor's been on our radar, it feels like, for about two, three years, like ever since
he was busting Rudy's ass in that 101 drilling practice a few years back, right?
So I've been hip to Victor for a while.
You know, I'd heard the Scoot name.
this is my first time actually seeing him play.
And the biggest, the biggest takeaway for me was he plays so much bigger than
than what he is.
Like, he's listed at 6-2, 6.6.3.
Like, if you saw those highlights, you would think he's like 6-6-7.
Like, he was going body-to-body with Victor fucking, you know,
hitting reverse scoops on him.
You know what I'm saying?
Fairlish.
Like, right fucking dunking from the dotted line on fast breaks and shit.
Like, like, you know, like I said, he's, he is a John Morant 6-2.
He's not an Andre Miller 6-2.
You know what I'm saying?
There's a motherfucking difference there.
So, yeah, I'm very much.
much impressed with Scoot, too, for sure.
I've seen Scoot play, like,
I watch a lot of the highlights.
I've been hearing people talk about.
I'm like, who the fuck is this dude?
I know he came into the, like,
he jumped into the G League, like,
after being a soft.
He started his junior year in the G league.
He played his junior year in the G league or something like,
starting that, like, like, 16 or something like that.
Something crazy.
Anyway, so I was like, let me tap in.
So I knew he was athletic.
And I knew he, you know, I knew he could really play.
And it was fearless.
And he played bigger.
But, like, what trip me out was his pace.
Like, we talk about John Morant.
how John Morant, like, kind of, you see, like, he, he knows when to go 100 miles an hour, right?
You know what I mean?
And he knows what it just slowed down and play the game.
And that's what tripped me out where he's, this is a big moment, bro.
Everybody who's fucking anybody in the NBA is in that fucking gym.
You know what I'm saying?
And he was in control.
He's to prove himself.
He's here to prove himself.
And he doesn't even play that aggressively.
He was more aggressive because of the moment.
You know what I mean?
Like, he's using more of a, you know, more of a passive.
I mean, he got nine assists, zero turnovers.
He got the goddamn.
Like, you know what I mean?
like in that moment it's crazy but like seeing him like his pacing was just crazy to me like
his pacing how comfortably was and uh you see a lot of like young cats we go 100 miles and out
to try to you know speed up to catch up with the the faster pace around them and he doesn't
he's not uncomfortable with that faster pace he's comfortable in himself and uh and he was attacking
you know what i mean like the like like just absolutely fear this from attacking wimby so
i mean i i i i've been thought he was a good player definitely would have been a number one
draft pick if there wasn't a
the closest thing we've seen to an alien in a long time.
You know what I'm saying?
Being drafted into the NBA.
But yeah, bro, like just a solid player.
Yeah, yeah.
Going off what you said about, you know, his pacing,
he's what, that impressed me too
because he's like so patient when he needs to be patient
and relentless when he needed to be relentless from what I saw.
Like, there was that play where he was double-teamed under the rim.
He gave him like a head fake that got both of them in the air,
step back, easy bucket.
That play right there,
I was like, Jesus Christ.
And it would have been very easy for him to just, you know,
he has two guys, are going to try to block him,
go out of the body, try to draw a foul.
You know what I mean?
He was so under control where he's driving
and then stops on the dime and then turns, you know what I mean?
Like, he simply is under control at all times.
It's just, bro, and in those lights when everybody's there,
that was, that shit was beautiful to me, man.
I love his game.
I love his game.
And like, if he wasn't, like, six, I guess it's only not because he's only six two.
Like he said he doesn't play like he's six two.
It doesn't feel like he's six two out there.
The dude is...
I think he played football in high school or something.
He played like, you know, like...
So, you know, he plays tough, bro.
The dude is tough, and he's just smart
and comfortable within himself,
and you love to see that shit.
And he's a teenager.
He might tack on two or three more inches
before it's all said and done, so we'll see.
And I get a lot stronger as well, so...
Yeah.
Good player.
In addition to, you know,
maybe a once-in-a-lifetime talent in Wemnon-Yama
and a, you know, maybe generational dude in school.
We'll see.
we did also have an all-time name appearance in that game last night.
And Steve Hoh-U-Fat is inspirational to me
because I didn't think there was anything.
I didn't think there was any islands out there
that the internet hadn't discovered yet.
You know?
I didn't think there was,
I thought we mapped the whole planet out
in terms of shit like this.
And here is a dude who's been playing professional basketball
for 13 years.
13, God damn.
With the name Steve.
whole you fat and we
had not found him until last night. Has he been playing
with that name for 13 years or is
that something new?
And first of all, it's Steve with two
with three E's. Yeah, it's
hella easing that Steve. I was like, this ain't even
a Steve, bro. This is, we have never even
seen a Steve like this.
That's a Steve.
So where did this, where did this
motherfucker? So what did that shit come from? Is there any
background of that? He's from
French, French Guinea,
Guyana. I forget. I
I think it's different now, but when we were growing up
as French Guinea, it's like French Guiana,
and he's been playing in France.
And, uh, and,
I'm saying the last name.
That's his, that's his French.
That's what it's,
his nationality is French, yep.
Wow.
I thought that was some arena league football shit, bro.
I thought he, I thought he changed this shit on some like,
you know what I mean?
What message did you think he was sending?
with that as a chosen last name.
Hey, I know I'm a country-ass
nigga, bro, and I know a whole bunch of
niggas that might have pulled that
that might have to sit down like, bro,
that ain't how we moving these days, dog.
Bruh, so...
That's wild, though. That's wild.

Oh, shit.
Okay, we also got another look at the future, although a little bit of
us excited about this one. ESPN debuted its new NBA song. Going to be some new look NBA
coverage from ESPN this year. Gentlemen, your basketball fans, your music fans, your internet
cultural elites. Stop it. What was your, what's you, what's you, what's you, what's you, what's you,
what's you, what's you, the new ESPN NBA song? What did you think? It's the worst should I ever
heard of my mother fucking.
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
That is trash.
It's like, it sounds like one of those
shit that a motherfucker posted on YouTube
be like, J-Cold type beat, $25 hit me up.
It sounds like that shit.
What I don't like about it is that it sounds dated
and you need shit like this to sound timeless, right?
That beat sounds 2017 like a motherfucker.
You feel me?
Like, you want shit like, like,
you think of the motherfucker in NBA on NBC.
That's timeless.
That is timeless, bro.
You know what I'm saying?
You got to go for time.
for flavor the month with shit like this.
That shit sounds like one of the beach
your homies play and you gotta like be
encouraging. You know what I mean? Like
this shit trash, but you can't say is trash.
That's your nigga, you don't want him to not, you know,
to tell him to think he trash. Keep his confidence
up. You know what I mean? Like that shit
sound like an entry level as beat like
a motherfucker. Keep his confidence up, but also tell him
you'll go with him to apply for some jobs
and some other things. Right, right.
Hey, they hired it. They hired it. At UPS, my
nigger, like, you know what I mean? Like, this type,
I was going to go apply in basketball.
You want to, yeah.
You feel me?
Listen to the postal service.
They got a great pinch in my nigger.
Like a little backup plan, baby.
You know what I'm saying?
For us both, we'll do it together.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, that's how you got to move, you know?
But yeah, like it was just, bro.
The shit don't slap.
It's dry.
It ain't got no season and none of that shit, bro.
Fuck that whole shit.
Is this like stamped now?
Or is it like, okay, the internet says this shit, we can kind of...
They got the graphic and everything.
I mean, the internet was...
I mean, the graphic, but fuck the graphic.
They got bread.
They can switch it up.
The homie, I think it was, the homie cope said, and I like the 2017 J. Cole beat analogy from Tyler, but he said, this is a fucking McLemore and Ryan Lewis beat from 2011.
He was fucking spot on with that shit.
Like you can hear, you can just hear fucking McClmore about to jump on that shit talking about the farmer's market or whatever the fuck.
Fucking.
What the fuck happened to McLemore?
I'm gonna fucking just got a Grammy and disappeared, though.
I read a profile.
I read a profile of McElmore that was super fucking fascinating to me.
He seems like a solid dude, but I just didn't fuck with his music.
It was kind of, I mean, yeah, like 100%.
But the profile was basically like this dude has intentionally destroyed his career
because of how guilty he felt about it basically.
Because when he got that Grammy over Kendra?
Because he felt horrible about the Grammy.
And he was like, he's quote.
voted in the article. He's like, I didn't ask him to give me the Grammy. I wouldn't have voted for
myself for the Grammy, but what am I supposed to do? Turn around or run away? Like, you know,
this is the biggest moment of my life or whatever. But he's like, yeah, like, everyone was angry
about that. And I'm like, I can't come out and be like, yeah, it's bullshit. I mean,
he basically said what's bullshit. Do you know what John? John, you don't know what he's doing now?
Yeah, he owns, he's bogie boys. Yeah, he does golf. He does, he's very into golf. He does
called apparel company.
But he also expressed
like super embarrassment
in the profile about
I don't remember the song, but he had the song
about how we should consider gay people
human beings or whatever. That was like
I thought I was gay when I was a kid
because I could draw a wild shit like that.
The song is called Same Love.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And his mom was like
comforting him that he's loved girls since he was in
kindergarten or whatever the fuck.
But, hey, when y'all was young, y'all didn't have a moment.
But he, no, listen, but he said in the profile, he was like, he was like,
I was just trying as a straight person in that moment to express that, like, I was supportive
of my gay friends and of the gay community.
He was like, I didn't want that to be the song that people ran with because I'm a fucking
straight dude.
And so, like, but it was just so funny because the whole article, he's like, man, it is
fucked up how much, like, white America liked me.
I really wish it hadn't happened.
He forgot he was white.
That's all of us.
He forgot he was a white guy.
He was talented.
Like I said, his shit just wasn't my cup of tea.
He was a talented white guy.
Rapping.
You should have known that they were going to fucking go crazy and eat that shit up.
I think he,
but what was wild is like he was anti all of that, right?
And his music was trying to create, like, equality, right?
You feel me?
He was trying to come from that space with the way he wrote.
But then he wins the Grammy over by far the best fucking rapper.
He wins the Grammy over LeBron
It's like LeBron not getting Rookie of the year
Over a good kid Mad City
Which I think is the best rap album of that decade
You feel me?
So it's like
It's like oh like
It's like
You're trying to break the system
But nigger
You know what I mean?
Like it's like
But you're benefiting regardless
Bro because you're fucking white
And so I think like
Right after he said
Right after he's like he even
He's flat out said
I know he said he, when I'm not supposed to say is bullshit.
He basically said that with an apology.
Going schoolboy cueing that motherfucker like, you know what I'm saying?
And it was like, I, nigger, like, bro, like chill, but you cool.
But yeah, so, nigga, I think that we, he couldn't come back.
He couldn't come back after that.
He couldn't show his face.
He was a joke.
He was a joke.
But I think most fun of his life made him a joke.
It's crazy.
But what's funny about it is like he also, he could have, he could have been less
introspective and enjoyed
himself and made more money, I'm
sure, but it's a little bit like
Sharnar and are watching the new, the
hocus pocus sequel with the kids,
and I won't spoil it for anyone out there who's
excited for Hocus Focus too.
But it's like very introspective
on like the witch hunt,
you know, the witch hunts to the pastos.
And it's like, listen to me, there is a
place for those movies. That place
is not Hocus Pocus
2 on Disney Plus.
Okay? We want the
like,
But that's the thing is it's like,
Maclemore, you are the dude with the fucking gadget rap songs.
Like, just make the money out of being that dude.
You can't introspective your way out of who the world decided you were.
He made his music from such a serious place,
and you're asking this man to change up who he is,
and it just was going to happen?
And how can you make music from a serious place if now you're deemed as a joke?
How did I get this talking about fucking Maclemore?
My bad, you know.
I want to highlight.
The reason why I say, like, you know, like, though I, you know, those moments or whatever, like,
I felt like growing up, my perception of what gay was, like, it was, like, it was, like,
like I said, at one point, I thought you could catch it like a cold.
I said this before.
Like, I thought, like, you could catch being gay.
And so I had moments when I was worried if that's what I, you know what I mean?
And then you grow a good older and you think differently and, you know, you know, it's not a big deal.
You don't give us fuck.
You know what I'm saying?
You know what I'm saying?
But, like, yeah, I had, I understand, like, having those moments growing,
up when that
there was no place
for questioning yourself.
He was really trying to write about
like a real moment.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I get it.
As someone.
Yeah, but good riddits.
But good riddons.
We don't need to talk about
McElmore ever fucking get on our podcast.
I apologize to the listeners.
I feel, you know, I don't know that that really
was my fault, but in the spirit of
McLemore, I'm going to take responsibility.
And then you laugh,
which is not what McLemore would do in that situation.
I do a very serious.
All right.
Let's talk about Braun and we might have an awkward moment this year when Braun passes
Kareem for the all-time career points record.
Did you all see the clip of the, they asked Braun.
Here's what I think happened.
I think someone was like, I'm about to ask you about Kareem and Braun was like, hold on,
let me put my sunglasses on.
They asked him, you know, what do you think of passing Kareem potentially this year?
and what's your relationship like there?
And his response was, quote, no thoughts, no relationship.
Yeah, that was odd to me because, I mean, I thought they were, you know, cool.
I thought it was, you know, Lakers love or what have you.
But I don't know.
He might have been, you know, going to bat for his boy, Kyrie,
because, you know, that question came from the, you know,
the scathing piece that Karim wrote about Kyrie.
So I don't know, maybe he was going to bat for his boy, Kyrie there.
But it was just odd to me.
maybe he didn't have any thoughts
and no relationship.
That nigga Kareem old as fuck, bro.
What the fuck, Brian gonna talk to that old-ass
bro?
Image-conscious, polished-ass,
Bronn would have gave us a bullshit answer there.
You know what I'm saying?
I don't know, man.
I don't think there's a lot of consequences
that's what you would say.
That's not what Braun would say.
I understand, but I don't think there's this,
like, if there was big consequences from the statement,
you know, I don't think Brown would have said it.
But I don't think there's a lot of consequences
from that statement.
So no thoughts, no relationships, you know, casual response.
I don't know.
It seems a little spicy, but I don't want to read too much into it.
I don't want to read too much as to it.
Braun is too image conscious for that not to be delivered, I feel like.
You know, you're passing the guy.
You know, he's the fucking, you know, he's one of the three greatest Lakers with fucking
magic and Kobe.
You know what I mean?
Like, I don't know.
That slight seemed intentional to me.
I agree with you, especially knowing how image conscious he is about everything.
And Braun is very much in that, you know, older states, elder statesman period of his
career where when he talks in those little scrums, he's always super deliberate. And I watch
him, you know, Lakers post game on this fucking sports net L.A. Like someone asked him a dumb question.
He's giving him a nice little sound bite. You know what I mean? And so to ask about Kareem,
but I think it's exactly what you said. I think he's always been very conscious of himself,
not just as a leader in basketball history, but a leader of his generation. And so whether it was
taking issue with what Kareem said about Karee or taking issue of
about what Karim has kind of generally had to say
about whippersnappers in the league.
That was kind of my interpretation of it as well.
I also, by the way, completely agree with most of what
Kareem said about Karee.
And people, like, it was one of the dumbest Twitter things ever
where people were like, did Kareem not once punch a man?
Right.
Like, yeah?
Like, holy false equivalence, Batman.
Like, Kareem is not you're saying
you are spreading misinformation that is,
being millions at Jeopardy.
And they're like, dude, you punched the guy back for elbowing you.
Like, okay.
Yeah?
Like, how is that the same fucking game?
I'd punch him again.
Shit.
Like, you know what is one thing that has to do with the other at all?
Even for Twitter.
I saw the clip kind of like.
And I want to say, like, Kareem was probably fighting racism in that moment.
That was, that was Kent Benson, who was a rookie.
And his NBA debut.
The last one white wolf man.
Yep.
Right? And he takes a cheap shot at Kareem
like in fucking 30 seconds into the game.
He wanted to do that shit for years, bro.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, so, yeah,
Kareem might have been fighting racism in that moment.
It was real shit.
I remember I tweeted like, bro,
this motherfucker hit a white man during the 60s, bro.
Like, punched him in his face, bro.
Like, goad him.
I have a bunch of respect for him.
You know what I'm saying?
On national television,
push a white man in the face like that.
The number one drive pick?
Like, dog.
But yeah.
I don't know.
I wasn't as involved in the Twitter back and forth.
I saw the clip and I just kind of like he wasn't on.
And I just looked at it like, you know, the clip read to me without all the other shit was,
I don't know that, nigga.
Like, that's what it read to me like.
We'll see.
I mean, it's going to come up quite a bit this year.
So we'll see.
Yeah, yeah.
If you're right, he'll certainly have time to come up with a more fucking press-friendly
answer.
Let's talk about, because we got a couple quick NFL items before we get to our House of Dragons recap.
Yeah, DJ Metcalf.
Did you guys see this story with DJ Metcalf?
D.K.
D.K.
D.K.
Ketkaff.
Get together, buddy.
DJ.
That's it, DJ Metcalf?
DJ Metcalf.
DJ Metcalf on the ones of the TV.
My man.
Yeah.
Did you see the story with him that he left the game with a had to poop?
Yeah.
I feel it.
Hey, understandable, bro.
What he said, though, the motherfucking,
he said,
that little water walk wasn't going to make it or some shit.
Would not suffice.
I haven't been jealous of a professional athlete in quite some time,
but I can't think of a better job perk
than when you really have to take a shit,
someone bringing a cart to you to cart you to the toilet.
But you, bro, you know sometimes, like that little squat,
like you got a certain amount of steps, bro.
You know what I mean?
Like, you know, it'll hold you down a little bit,
but you probably got, I think, max 25 or 30 steps.
You know what I mean?
And, you know, they're not long steps.
They're truncated version of your actual stride.
You know what I'm saying?
He's wearing white pants.
Right.
It's like this, bro.
We're going to win this game.
Or I'm going to shit on myself.
Bro.
Bring me the car.
You're sitting there yourself going to live way longer.
You know what I'm saying?
No one's going to remember the score of that game.
Nobody's going to remember the score, bro.
Take your ass to the toilet, bro.
And good for him.
He made the right decision, man.
made a right
All right.
Speaking of dokey pants,
Thomas Brady has fucked up
the sheriff's situation out there.
Wow.
Special stuff officially.
He and Giselle
have hired divorce layers.
I generally don't like
talking about people's family situations
as like a humor topic,
but it was just too many good jokes
on Twitter yesterday,
and there's nothing I can personally do
to control that, all right?
That's out of my control.
I think you basically called it.
I think you basically called the situation.
facts.
Yeah.
You know, like you said, Mike,
I don't like playing into the what-ifs
the what-ifs or what-haves-you,
but we saw this shit play out publicly.
Right?
We saw Tom Brady retire, then un-retire.
And we saw Jacelle say he made a promise to me to retire.
You know what I'm saying?
So that's why we're getting divorced.
Like, you know, like I said,
I'm with you on not digging into people's personal business,
but this shit played out very publicly.
And like I said,
it feels like fucking Adam Schaefter
has the blood of the Brady marriage on his hands.
It's fucking wild.
Those kids need to make sure they're not blaming themselves.
They need to blame Adam Schaefter.
Adam Schaefter.
You go to the therapist and you say,
Adam Schaefter split my parents up.
That's what you tell.
I wonder if he used Adam Schaefter in the arguments that they had.
This motherfucker, Adam, didn't let me come out and announce my retirement.
And to Tom's credit, that's a hell of an argument.
You got to be a hell of an argument.
You can't let Adam Schepter.
But also, you're married to Jacell.
She doesn't give a fuck and she don't.
I got to give a fuck.
And the honest truth is Tom Brady is Tom Brady.
He ain't got to give a fuck either.
We can talk about how much money they make or don't get back out into the streets.
The street's different for Tom Brady, okay?
Much different.
Somebody said, Tom Brady doesn't even know he's divorced for real.
Like, they're going to have to tell him in film.
Right.
Oh, shit.
Break it down to him in the film.
Now see here, Tom, this is where you had yourself fucked up right here.
This one you had to sell fucked up.
Pause and tape.
I want you to look at this time.
This right here was when she was sick of your shit right there.
I was she told Vanity Fair,
I sacrificed my part for our marriage.
Because I tell you what,
in any relationship,
you start talking about I did my part.
Yeah, motherfuckers are done.
It's hard to come back from that.
They both don't be a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a.
They both going to be a-a-a-a.
Well, he, I mean, what's, you know, look, we work in sports.
Tom Brady is about it's like accomplished as an individual and a team sport could be.
And I think we think of him as being, you know, a lot of people think of him as a pinnacle financially, all this other stuff.
Like, he could sue her for alimony.
Like, she's worth, she's worth hundreds of million dollars more than him.
And he might.
And he might, that's business.
That ain't personal.
And he's going to put into argument as, well, I can't work anymore.
I have to retire after this year.
So she's the one who filed too, it sounds like.
So he might have a case, bro.
Although they both filed.
I thought they both filed.
I thought they said they both filed.
That's what I thought.
I mean, they both got lawyers.
Yeah, someone initiates it.
He hired a lawyer.
But really, if your wife who's worth $750 million files for divorce,
obviously you're hiring a divorce lawyer.
That's a lot of bread, baby.
You'll be out there butt naked on a bootleg.
You know what I mean?
Well, fucking JJ Watts steaming down your throat.
Like,
all right,
for sure.
My,
I really don't like
joking about fucking family
splitting up a shit,
but I,
what are you going to do?
You know what I mean?
Like,
and like you said,
it played out so publicly
that this motherfucker
really just had to get
Adam Schaefter,
but at what cost,
Thomas?
But at what cost?
At what cause?
Bro, Lee,
you,
like,
this motherfucker wanted to stay in Tampa.
Like,
like,
really?
Why are you,
just take you?
ass the goddamn Beverly Hills
or Calabas or whatever the fuck. This motherfucker
would do all this away to stay in Tampa
dog. God damn, Tom.
Did it say football and family or family
and football on his page?
So I wonder if football was first.
I think it was family and football and someone
sent a Photoshop around that where he
changed it to just football. It made me go to
his page. I didn't check the page.
Because
that's how, Tom may have did it, bro.
But I mean, he is.
Look, I mean, that's, you talk about a fucking psychopath, man.
Like, the dude has got more Super Bowls than any other franchise in NFL history.
And he's still at 45 years old, like, oh, a little bit like, there's a couple drops left in this tank.
You don't know how to be a family man, dog.
Go home and be a family man.
He don't know how to do that shit.
You know what I mean?
He's 20, 45, nigga.
He'd be playing this game for how long?
What the fuck?
He ain't got it in him.
All right.
I think we're going to lose John partway through this.
segment, but let's do our House of Dragons recap. Tyler, I think this was the kind of episode
we're all hoping for when they said they were going to do another fucking show. What did you think?
Okay, so in the original Game of Thrones, I think, you know, with all the fucking
zombie battles and dragons fighting and fucking time traveling and fucking 10 foot long wolves
and all the shit that we got in there, I think the best, most riveting scene of that
series was Tyrion in the court demanding a trial by combat that scene.
I think that is the scene of that entire series.
And to bring it full circle to this,
I got like the same feel from that scene where they were talking about how Amon lost his eye.
Like the tension that was there, the fucking writing for that scene,
everyone was getting bars off, bro.
Amon, fucking Renera, fucking Allison, where Renera told her,
how's it feel to have finally have that cloak?
off. You know, like that shit she said was fucking
cold-blooded. Bard her up.
Bard her to fuck up, man.
Now they see you for what
you really are. Yes. God damn.
God damn. But
the thing is, like, the whole fucking hill turn
that Amon took
was a shocker to me
because it was like, you know, we know
that the Targaryians are going to rule for hundreds of years to come
after this, right? We know that this is the royal family
that's going to win out somehow, some way, you know,
So, but I didn't, I didn't, I didn't see that dog in Aga.
You know what I'm saying?
Aga did not have that dog and he wanted no parts of this shit, right?
But then Amon, when he went and claimed, you know, the dragon and came back and just was, was, was fucking fighting his cousins like one on four and shit.
I was, I was like, this motherfucker is, hey, he might be stamped and certified.
He had a bar too with the whole, you know, I lost an eye, but I gained the dragon.
That's a fair exchange.
I was like, God damn, he might be built for this.
At fucking eight years old or whatever the fuck he is.
Yeah.
Yeah, you hit it exactly on the head.
It was something I wanted to say was I really like,
I mean, the dragons are cool as fuck.
It's cool having a show where the dragons are there,
and you're not just hearing about how cool the dragons used to be
like we were with Game of Thrones, right?
But I was exactly with you.
It was the family interplay and the writing and the characters
and that tension that I really thought was great about the first show.
And so I do feel like they focus a little more on the effects
in the spectacle so far.
So I was so happy to see the moment in the hall where they were all at each other's throats was incredible that you talked about.
But I had the same feeling watching the fight between the little cousins.
You're watching little kids trying to kill each other.
But it was right back to that feeling of like everyone has a believable role in this scene.
You understand where everyone's coming from.
I mean, they set it up with, is his name, Aegon or Amon?
What is it?
The kid who stole the dragon?
Amon.
Okay.
They set it up with him, you know, with him getting made.
made fun of by the other kids.
Like, it's hard to be a little kid getting made fun of for not having the right backpack
or the right socks.
I can't imagine.
You're making fun of me for not having a dragon.
And he goes out against the biggest oldest dragon, you know, in the fucking in Westeros.
He said, fuck, are you talking about now?
Right.
Dropped his nuts.
Which, yeah, man.
That shit.
And fucking, I'll give it to Sir Cole.
I thought he was going to be a bitch.
But he did, he, he, he impressed me.
a good way when
when fucking Allison told him
to go get the eye
of Renair's son
and he was like no
and she's like
you're sworn to me
and it was like
to protect you
I was like oh shit
okay
I'm not about to
hey listen
I might be an asshole
I'm not about
to go
fucking shish kabobab
little kids eyeball
right
the fuck
he might not be a bitch
like I know
he's still a bitch
but not as much
of a bitch
perhaps
he has unbitched
himself a little
but not all the way
oh that whole
fucking episode
was crazy as fuck
it was crazy as fuck
and I
You're not watching The Lord of the Rings show.
Are you on Amazon?
I'm not, no.
Bro, I have never gotten into Lord of the Rings.
I tried.
I have tried to get into that shit,
and I've never made it through the first movie.
The first movie is,
the first movie was slow when it came out in like, oh, one.
And by today's standards, it's like, you know,
I mean, it's like a full Netflix season
where they're just setting up the action or whatever.
I mean, Shaw and I like that.
We've got plenty of friends who said the same,
thing. This week was also
the week for like the crazy episode
on the fucking Lord of the Rings show
where there's like a huge
fucking twist that nobody saw
coming. So it was a, needless
to say, it was a wild
weekend in the Garda Baciosian.
Wild weekend
of fantasy shows.
The elves and dragons
had Garabacios house
sold upside down, baby.
All right.
I thought I was going to hate Renair for a minute
when I thought she really set laying her up to be killed,
but I'm glad we got that little plot to us
where he faked his own death to go and live in his truth, good for him.
Yeah, that was cool, man.
I was, I was, Schar sniffed that out from the beginning.
I thought it was like, you know,
Damon is such a fucking crazy lunatic.
I thought he, like, really set it up, you know what I mean?
But, but Sharr sniffed that out,
which is funny because she's not a horror movie person,
but she was like, I knew because we didn't see it.
She's like, this show shows us that dude burning alive.
You know what I mean?
They don't just drop a fucking dead body in front or whatever.
It is, it's tough on, it's tough on, I'm horrible with the names.
His name is Lainar.
Yeah.
It was, it is tough to like, you let your mom feel that way.
You know what I mean?
But I understand and he's obviously going to have a happier life.
He's, hey, he gets the cinnamon in the oranges.
You know what I mean?
Cinnamon.
He got his cinnamon in his oranges.
Good for him, man.
Good for both of them.
All right.
That's all the time we got for today.
we'll be back on Monday.
