We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,

Starting point is 00:01:06 Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks.
Starting point is 00:01:22 Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? They had a bogo. Well, then you got them. Listen to soccer moms on the Iheart radio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast, Point Game, the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:01:38 We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was harmed. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game 7, Marquis keep coming to him. He's like, you know I love you, dog.
Starting point is 00:01:52 You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. There are times when the mind becomes a difficult place to live. This is David Eagleman with the Inner Cosmos podcast, and for Mental Health Awareness Month, we'll talk with singer-songwriter Jewel about anxiety.
Starting point is 00:02:14 I started living in my car, and then my car got stolen. I was having panic attacks. I was agoraphobic. This is a month of deeply personal and honest conversations about what happens when the brain goes off course. Listen to Inner Cosmos on the I-Hard. radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:02:34 If I'm going to Golden Corral, you took an L. If it's 1999 plus drink, your ass is under the water. Like, y'all, yeah, yeah, what up, y'all? This Joe Cracked at dawn.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Your boy, Jada, you know what it is, the Joe and Jada show, every show legendary. Every show iconic. Sometimes you got to see the future. Definitely. That's what we do. We represent the New York City, you know what I mean? Represent that new sound.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Represent that pain. Represent hardworking. If you got TikTok, if you got any type of platform, you see them every day, you hear them every minute. Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for cocky. Yeah. My guys, my guys, my guys, my guys. What's up, man.
Starting point is 00:03:39 Welcome to the couch, bro. You're probably the youngest that made it to the couch. You know what I mean? We are a global show, but we definitely represent New York. For sure. We wanted to have you on. Love. Let those people know what you're doing, let them know how you rock.
Starting point is 00:03:56 And I want to know how you... Meek just reached out to you. How are you linked up? Basically, for me, like, when we first started, man, we just... We're fan of meek, for me. One of the favorite rappers, me, y'all, you know, pioneers of this New York shit for, For sure, man.
Starting point is 00:04:11 Like, I grew up watching y'all, man, for sure, Meek. Um, he just tapped in for me, you know, we were just putting in work and he just tapped in, man, like, oh, God, it, keep going. He always show love. Like, yo, anytime we post on, we was going viral freestyle, just throwing freestyle, throwing them out there, like, like, I came in rapping, like, really, like, bossy, you me? And then we switched it over to, like, that really, like, melodic, giving them that pain, you
Starting point is 00:04:36 That pain is barred up, too. Oh, man, it's crazy, for me? I know, it's barred up. This ain't no fucking, all. By the way, this the Joe or Jay to show. It ain't no fucking lollipop in this bitch. This kid is the future. That's love.
Starting point is 00:04:49 And I'm never wrong. And so the game always love a big boy. Come on, cool, man. They're there for a heavy deed to Biggie Smalls, the Big Pond, the Ross, Fat Joe. The game love a big boy. And us big boys, right, even though I lost a lot of weight. We got like a silent language that we like, we, like, we, share each other on.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Mm-hmm. And we just show man love. So, first I see you. Mm-hmm. I see you walking with not Beyonce, but fiancée. She got the bags. She's smiling like she loved life. And cocky-ca with her like this.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Like, you know that guy. Cool, man. That guy, yo, cocky-ca, this guy living a life by hit. You just living, man. What up, y'all, God? Come on, we just living, man. For me? Yo!
Starting point is 00:05:46 Come on, we just, we just living, man. Come on, man. We just do things you like to do, man. What? Come on. And then I said, who is this guy? Right. Right.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Right. And then I started listening to your music. And I was like, oh, shit, we got once. Slow, that means a lot, man. And so how's it feel to be young? I've seen the song, is that a true story about your pops? It wasn't in your life. For sure.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Break that down to us. Broke. You was born in Brooklyn, raised in Brooklyn. So tell us about, you know, what made you write that song and so many people could relate to that. For sure. Yeah, I came from, for me, Brooklyn, East New York, to be exact, for me. That's a fact, you feel me? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:35 It's good with my mom's and my parts of my life. For me, I had both parents. Super blessed for that for me. You know how important your pop shit is in your life, for me? Super important for me. Like, we go from seeing a person like A day. So like, damn, I don't see him no more. For me, like, I'm in the crib.
Starting point is 00:06:51 I'm one of the youngest of my mom in the park's house. For me, I'm the youngest boy. I'm still in the crib. For me, like, I'm there for me. Like, it's like, damn. Like, you wake up in the morning. You know, that's like, it's just be, like, sudden. Like, you won't know what I should come in?
Starting point is 00:07:07 They ain't sick. Like, isn't in no hospital. Yeah, you just wake up in the morning. Shit just happened and gone, for me. Like, I'm the only one in the crib, man. Like, I see my pop take a glad breath, for me. I try to, yeah, yeah, I try to carry them out the bed. For me, my grandmones, like, came upstairs, feel me?
Starting point is 00:07:24 It was where I live in the building. I got the biggest family in the other, for me. Like, came upstairs, for me, like, you leave out the womb, come back, and he's gone. I never lost nobody like that close before, for me. It's like, damn, I, my best. So that shit kind of hit hard for me, hit OD, for me. So I'm like, I bet. Like, it's goal mode now.
Starting point is 00:07:40 After that, we just put that shit in the pain. If we put that shit in the music, man. No, we don't really talk to nobody. I said, man, for me, we don't really talk to me. We don't got nobody to talk to. So the studio's kind of like therapy, for you. When I listen to your music, man, is all, how old are you? 27, man.
Starting point is 00:08:00 It's so hard for a person your age to really reach down in the moment. And not really, you know, I know you like to spoil yourself, watches and clothes, but your music is like you're in the moment. You're right in the moment and you're talking that shit, especially the youth. They're all dying. They all killing each other. They need to hear that and they need that type of inspiration.
Starting point is 00:08:29 See somebody like you who made it from the trenches or who's making it. What made you just come so real? This ain't about bar. Gimmick, this, your shit straight. You talking like we're talking, but we're the O.Gs. And switched over, though, from just bar, straight bars, there's melodic pain with the chores in. For sure, for sure.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Is that from your dad or that just? That was kind of like, yeah. Like, I ain't going to lot of you. Like, we was having fun before all this, before the deaths. I mean, we just having fun. We just, you know, New York, we fall on what's the wave, I mean? Trail was the wave.
Starting point is 00:09:06 the rapping, the really bossy, like, that was the wave, you feel me? And then we like, you know, like, get them what we really going through, you know what? We could talk about the other shit later, but let's get them really, like, what we really feeling what we're going through. And for me, like, we try to, like, fit in with the sexy drills. Shout out of casting them, my brothers, and shout out to them, man. We tried to fit in with that.
Starting point is 00:09:27 And we like, yo, well, like, let's just be us. For me, like, let's think bigger than New York. For me, let's think New York. We, New York home all the time. New York always going to be home. but I just get with a sign of a worldwide A bike afield for me and we just went with that and that shit
Starting point is 00:09:41 started working for me and we just took off man So what does it feel like when I remember my uncle Dan Damn, I don't want to tell Dan's business But Dan was away for a little bit Right And yo, Jay to stop
Starting point is 00:09:56 Stop Man's my man Yeah but Uncle Dan was away Right I remember he comes back And I tell him I say yo it's a little different. Uncle Dan, I went to pick him up.
Starting point is 00:10:08 I said, you know, I'm famous now. We're going to walk out of this courthouse and they're going to be wilding because it's fair. And then Flojo's number one. Right? I'm trying to let them know. Like, yo, let's say, you know, your nephew that you went away last year is showing up. We came out. He was like,
Starting point is 00:10:27 yo, what the fuck? And everybody chasing, what's that like for one day? I know you're popular in your own hood. But to step out and now everybody knows you. What's that like? That's your different. Like, it's different, super different. Like, yeah, we didn't have a buzz,
Starting point is 00:10:44 but we was, like, kind of like, like, lit and puck way in your motion. If we didn't even have motion, but this motion different. I don't know how y'all do it. I mean, like, wild motion. Oh, swire. For me, I'm buying a car.
Starting point is 00:10:54 I see somebody put me on the IG. I'm looking rough, you feel? You feel me? I'm on socks. Sure, someone's socks. For me, one of this, man? I'm like, damn, they got me, But it's just wild, for me, like, it's a bustan over me.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Like, still, it's wild, but it's like, damn, like, they know who niggas is now, for me. I remember niggas, fuck by niggins, see me? Then they know who niggins is. They know what I'm doing, for me. So, all right, we're touching somebody, for me. That's what I'm saying. And I'll do, because I always worry about, like, you know, I used to coach at the Walker. Right.
Starting point is 00:11:28 There's some guys that should have made for, what's a man? Your kid, you're not even letting me finish my fantasy, eh? I coached at the rucker. There was some players. I give you one. My man, A. Butter. I always felt like he should have an NBA. Amen.
Starting point is 00:11:43 But he had friends that misguided him. It was selling them the wrong thing. He was like, yo, you let it haul them. You don't got to really be in college and all that. With you being young, just getting into the bag, how hard is it to keep solid people around you? And do you have a solid team around you that you think you could trust? For sure.
Starting point is 00:12:03 for sure like I definitely do I feel like I definitely got a super solid team for me anybody around me we got 20 plus years I mean I can't name nobody I know like you don't got less than for me like five years or 10 to 15 20 plus to me like and plus the
Starting point is 00:12:21 person I'm with now my guy old Gates man he's super super solid man like super solid like he was kind of like big brother like a big girl yo I bet you're not gonna do this I this you go on I and nah but You got to learn, but fucking, like, let's do this. So I'm like, I bet he gave a chance to learn.
Starting point is 00:12:38 And that shit is major key for me, super major key. But I definitely think I got a super core round, man, for sure. No doubt. I like how humble you all. No, I appreciate it. You make hints, but you remain humble. Every time I speak to you, you got the same good interview. This is the first time I speak to him.
Starting point is 00:12:57 I seen him, I said the big boy, I got to bring him into that. Just major. That floor is filled. That's my man right there. He doesn't know, we got that underground. You know what I'm saying? I see them my sedan, man. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:13:08 He won't us. Sign the quality control. Yes, sure, yeah. Who's your own? Yeah, DTE, man. No doubt. It's good. I'm poor.
Starting point is 00:13:17 She's only shipped to you. Super. Super. Super. I think it's definitely important for me. You put in all this work, for me. It's like, I gotta have sign, for me. Sighting for all the work we put in, for me.
Starting point is 00:13:28 At least, see me? From overnight's in the studio, for me, we be working, man. We, so I ain't got to come out of everything. Man, there's 30 years of doing this shit. Come on. I don't think this. You get crazy. You know, I always tell a story, man, because, you know, we was young.
Starting point is 00:13:46 We was hot, right? And so I got to think of, because you remind me a lot, your personality and your charisma, a big punt. And I see you a lot. Your videos. You got the 20 girls behind you. That's a big pun. Whoa, man.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Right there. We took a big boy. made him a sex symbol, right? I see what you're doing out here. And I say to myself, I say, yo, man, I got to reach out, let him know, you know, we appreciate what he's doing and just your approach. And so who's some of the guys you looked up to coming up in the game? First of all, that means a lot for me.
Starting point is 00:14:26 For me, that's a fact. I definitely looked at all. I can't even, honestly, I don't look to you, for sure. Coming to New York, man, like, I wouldn't, for me. Like, you know, I looked up to Meek for sure. Oh, though. Millie. Yeah, Meek, Millie for sure.
Starting point is 00:14:40 Shut up, bro, I can't lie, big, for me. That's coming from Brooklyn. For me, like you said, man, pun. Those are the guys we really heard going up on the radio. Even, for me, like, nah, you still hear them on the radio to this day, for me? That shit just made that feel good music, for me? You know, you hear those type of zones that summer coming.
Starting point is 00:15:00 It's about to get lit. It's fun. You know. For the show, it got crazy, man, for sure. So definitely had an impact in my life for sure. Yeah, my thing was, it was summers that we had the number one song, but we would stay, like everybody come honked the horn and they in the truck.
Starting point is 00:15:20 Yo, it's stick. We over here and be like, nah. You got to write. You got to stay focused. You got to this. And I'd be like, yo, pun, and they coming through. and we just, it's a lot of sacrifices. Right, right, right, right.
Starting point is 00:15:35 To be supreme, to be supremacy. In this game, it's a lot of sacrificing. And some people think maybe they got lucky and they shortcut it, but some people feel like they ain't got to go in there and put in that pain in that studio and all that. I don't think you could cheat the success. You know, what's it like for you?
Starting point is 00:15:58 What's your process of like, all right, I'm about to write the song about this or you just hear the beat and the turn what to say. What's your studio sessions like? Oh, sessions is like a party or? You know it's crazy? It's not even partying.
Starting point is 00:16:10 I feel like the party's definitely motivating, niggas, though. Come on, you ain't going to lie. If the females in there, for me, they're going to make niggins that I never did before. He's going to get crazy in there. I ain't going to fart. But yeah, it's super motivation.
Starting point is 00:16:22 But now, usually a regular studio session is just me and, like, probably like, three of my guys, two of my guys. It's not never too deep for me. Like, like, feel me? Like, close, for me. Yeah, there's never too many people in there. I mean, yeah, I'm for y'all.
Starting point is 00:16:36 I watch this shit, you were? But yeah, it's number two out. Oh, yeah, it's a flag. You're a flag. No, but yeah, man, like, flag. Yeah, that's a flag, though. I'm for you. You a couple of your guys, an engineer.
Starting point is 00:16:53 Yeah, yeah, it's super, like, yeah, just me, man. Booth, quiet, talk, and me. I mean, my feelings. That's part of why I'm the most vulnerable for me, myself in there, if I mean? So I'm like, yo, I bet like, depending on the track, I'm like, yo, I need to be in here, Dolly. And then if that feel good track, oh, yeah, all right, let's say, hey, by and let me know how y'all feel. I don't really like no yes man around me. Like, let me know if you ain't fuck with this track or not, if I mean?
Starting point is 00:17:17 For sure, super super important, and you could think they ain't no yes, man, but say times. Like, I remember they would invite me, right? So it would be an artist that we love and know. and they be like, yo, Joe, come in the studio listen to my new album. And they let in, no way. And the last album
Starting point is 00:17:37 was a classic, but then they played the new album, and I'm in the studio and the shit straight garbage. And everybody in the studio, their men's are banging into the wall like it's dope and all that. And you're like, yo,
Starting point is 00:17:54 like, Joe, what do you think? I'm like, I'm like, real honest when it comes to the music, I'll try my best way to let you down in the nicest way, but if it ain't it to me, I'm not going to sit here and do that. And I watch too many
Starting point is 00:18:09 sessions when he gasing dudes up, jump, like, I couldn't believe this shit. It happened to me a bunch of times in my life. That ever happened to you? Eat his own bottle of patrol. Shit, man. This motherfucker, you know, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:18:27 Eat your own bottle. I mean, you got the power to put out music whenever you want. Yeah, for sure, for sure. I let them listen to it. Mainly, like, anything I send them, my girl old and the team, like, they fuck ways. I mean, she's like, I had best. He's more. He's like, yo, let's do it.
Starting point is 00:18:45 Matter of fact, you just did that, let's put it out tomorrow next week. We don't have a high band of his doors. Yeah, man. What's up with the girls, man? They're loving you because I heard you in there. They're like, listen, man. No, you're trying to get into trouble. No, he's trying to get into the show.
Starting point is 00:19:01 You try to get into the truth. I got shot it. Nah, nah, nah. It's fiance, your girl? It's fiance. Yo, shut on zone. Man, for sure. He ain't beyond.
Starting point is 00:19:13 We just, yo, let's, man. We just having fun, man. For me, like, whoa, they do it for me? Like, we just having fun, man. We work in. We focus. Focus, baby. You focus.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Speak the kingdom. And there's ever too much. Just sink the kingdom. Shake the kingdom. No mistakes, man. Seek the kingdom, man. Take the kingdom, man. We got to be careful out here.
Starting point is 00:19:40 You got to seek the kingdom. Yeah, for sure. Shit hard. It's hard, man. Yeah. This shit is. How scary, you, right? Yeah, I was doing it.
Starting point is 00:19:49 You know, shit. Shit. Yeah. What the hell? Yeah. You gotta sink the kingdom. I'm crying, man. You know what's a bar that always resonate when it comes to that to me is a wild-wild thoughts.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Callis on wild-wild thoughts. And Bryce Tiller goes, I probably shouldn't be around you. Like, that shit hits me like with a hard pool. But you know you ain't supposed to hear right. That's a fact, dude. No, this is a problem. That's what you're having wild thoughts. Wow, wow, wow, wow.
Starting point is 00:20:29 Man, fucking. Nice shit to be around you. That's what. All right. Can you get me? Wow. All thoughts, man. What's your plans for the next five years?
Starting point is 00:20:41 Where you want to, where you want yourself to be? Where you want your label to be? Where you want to be doing? Basically, man, we want to be one of, like, known for one of the hardest working cars in the game. Man, like, y'all still around for me? I want to be like this. I mean, like, still want to be, you know, coming from New York, it's hard. Like, we really have nobody, like, really, like, stick around in the mess.
Starting point is 00:21:03 It's really, like, hey, boogie. And, like, for me, like, I want to be one of them across the I-Yo. Think of New York, you think about, I icon. He's with those good. To me, like, for me, yeah, being more consistent, yeah, I want to be able to help somebody else the same way somebody help me, you think? Like, speaking them through that verse to me, like, I'm going to pay with Charles, for me. You do it.
Starting point is 00:21:22 Yeah, yeah, you do it. You do it. You do it. Go on, man. I see your future. Very, very bright. You keep the right people and the right team around you. And look, I'm old and I'm still dust and dude's off.
Starting point is 00:21:36 I still got one or two left. You know, I came on, you know, I came up with a wild bunch of guys, man. And sometimes, this is the advice I'm giving you and everybody else was watching. sometimes your vision of you your team might not you know your boys might not see the same thing for you and you might have a boy that's crazy right right
Starting point is 00:22:04 right he didn't he won't shoot up Madison Square Garden while you performing he don't give a fuck his father been to jail his old life his brothers and spit he's trying to prove some shit that you like yo I'm trying to get to the Gramies right right I'm trying to get
Starting point is 00:22:21 on another level and sometimes because they don't have the same goals as you or the same vision as you, they can fuck the whole shit up. Trust me, it happened to me. Oh, cool. That shit, I'm going to just happen. Maybe a couple days ago, that's why.
Starting point is 00:22:37 So you got to step away from that. Yeah, that shit, I won't just happen. That's why, bro. Oh, you can't have that. You know what I'm saying? You got to really figure it out and you got to tell them, listen, my brothers, I love you. Please, y'all want to see me do good.
Starting point is 00:22:52 because I might, you know, I'm going to spin back, make sure everybody's straight, but let me go. They almost got to look at you like a kid that might be going to the league. Right. Because what happens is some of these guys, they don't give a fuck. Yeah, that's all.
Starting point is 00:23:10 And guess what? It could be the skinniest guy in the world. It could be your man, 80 pounds flat, shoot up the claws. They're going to say cocky-ca. That's a fact. That's a fact. the skinniest nigga like this.
Starting point is 00:23:25 And they're going to be on the news, rapper, cocky cop. You know this? And you're like, yo, what the fuck? They always seem to find the famous one in the crew. It just historically works like that. So, you know, you got to start talking up the while
Starting point is 00:23:43 because we love them. Because, you know, with me, I say I pay for maybe 100 funerables in my life town for the whole hood. That's what. I'll be thinking about... I pay for close to that. True story, huh?

Starting point is 00:35:01 Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, a wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special.
Starting point is 00:35:16 So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jones? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. We were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:35:40 And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
Starting point is 00:37:00 He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He run up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball like. Like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:22 Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Oh, cream of chicken suit. Hey, cream. Cream and chicken suit.

Starting point is 00:40:45 No. She just added them up for me. She'd be like, you're the $20, Joe. She had the biggest hustle in the world for me, and I'm going in there, derelict. Young, Bronx, sturdy, talking that shit. Fuck that, this, this, fuck you, bitch, this, this, fuck. $20 more.
