You may remember me from my podcast, Anything for Selena, or My Divo. And now I'm back to unpack more stories from the present and the past. Starting point is 00:00:34 And I'm Perry Wilson. I'm a medical doctor. And this is our new podcast, Wellness Actually. You're getting a staggering amount of health and wellness information and some of it is awesome. And some of it is, well, actually, bullshit. Fortunately, we're both people who know how to read studies and can tell you what's worth trying out and what you can safely ignore. Listen to Wellness Actually on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Bill, why is my eye twitching?
Starting point is 00:01:03 Does this mean I'm in perimenopause? Where's my phone? Juliana, maybe we can ask an actual human. Yes, because I have questions. And I bet you do too. Like, is it normal to sleep in separate bedrooms? We do that. And I still need to know why my poop's been green.
Starting point is 00:01:16 We've got actual people answering these exact questions. Listen to Bill and Juliana. The podcast. On the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcast. When teenager Joy Morgan discovered the religious group, Israel United in Christ, she believed she'd found the truth. Starting point is 00:02:05 I'm going to walking up in there. I'm like, yo, this is incredible. I couldn't believe it. I was walking around for like a week telling people, yo, I never seen this before. Like, nowhere in the world. Now that you told this story for me, it's like Jordan Piel, you've got to do this shit now.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Because I always wondered what happened with all the people that they took over. Yeah, where they're at? Where they're at? It was in that. In Kevin Law's house. We're Kevin Lowe's house. Yeah, yeah, what up, y'all? This Joe Crack the Dawn.
Starting point is 00:02:50 You know who it is, your boy, Jada. You know what it is? The Joe and Jada show, every show legendary. Every show iconic. Mm-hmm. Got that Hermann shit on. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:03:06 Don't try this shit at home, man. Don't try that Hermann sit at home. But anyway, Anyway, it's iconic, it's legendary. When you think of today's guess, because we, we, we, we the biggest. My brother said he got the numbers, we're the number one.
Starting point is 00:03:24 Number one. We're slaying these. We don't know where he got the numbers from, but. Listen, empirical data, but we haven't even introduced them yet to start our shit. Don't don't. Let me. I'm ready.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Uh-huh. When you think of today's guess, You think about one of the most consistent voices in comedy over the last decade From the stand-up stage to the big screen He's built a career of real-life stories Sharp timing And the ability to make almost anything funny He's that rare comedian who can steal scenes and movies
Starting point is 00:04:05 Headline his own specials and now step behind the camera as a director and executive producer. You know what I mean? Chicago bred industry respected and always authentic. Bringing that energy into a whole new lane with his latest project. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome little around to the way. Damn. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:38 First of all, I'm playing that before all my shows now. See what I'm saying? That's what it was meant to. Like, you have Jada Kiss intro and like that, that is like, I'm over here cheesing, man. Call me for something, man. Fannie reunion, the cookout, just let me. Let me intro, sir.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Hold on, hold on, hold on. Just, y'all got to understand, the young nigga and me watching MTV and you on the rooftop doing we going to make it. Yeah. And you just introed me is fucking it's sex. Yeah, I tried out to smile. You know, so Jim Jones talked about me really good, and I put it on the new single.
Starting point is 00:05:14 He was like, no, no, he didn't do the sin. I'm talking about we took his voice and threw it on the single on the point you asked me about. You ever seen Fat Joe Big Pun to me? Like, sometimes them intros, they go a long way. You know, I met Tyler Perry the other day. I was like, I did too much. What you do?
Starting point is 00:05:35 I was like, you know, I've been waiting to me. Tyler Perry forever. He had the Jay-D show. I'm like, yo, my man, let's get money. What are we talking about? Yo, wait you saying. When can I come down to Atlanta to the compound? Look at that motherfucker was spooked off.
Starting point is 00:05:48 He's like, yo, Fadjo. Get away for this motherfucker. I'm doing too much. He was like, I would be right back. He didn't know you was off the case. Oh, fat Joe, I'll be right back. That's what he said. I've been right back.
Starting point is 00:06:00 He had two secret services. He had two secret services with it. He keeps security with it. Oh, no, you got it. And he keeps like his, because he's a tall guy. And his guys, too. It was the same height as. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Let me ask you a question is, no, I don't want to be disrespectful. I don't want to be disrespectful. But like, when you got security, like, do you want smaller guys, paws or bigger guys? Like, how about this? My daughter told me today, yo, we use the security for us. She was like, it got too little, dad. Like, I'm moving.
Starting point is 00:06:36 through the crowd. I don't know. He said I'm moving through the crowd. I need a big boy to be like, yo, y'all got to move. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:43 I have security, but I would like a small agent lady with a special set of skills. You said a small Asian lady? You don't even think she's, you think.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Yon, give me no flags. You think she's my nails in the line lady. Yo, I got no flags. This shit choppy, you write in the throat. Yo, I don't have no flags.
Starting point is 00:07:01 I'm saying? You think that's a flag? I have a sign. Yes. Small Asian lady. with a special set of skill. You don't see her coming. I like that.
Starting point is 00:07:11 You don't even know she's with you think she. Michael Jordan had like, if you remember his security was that old black guy. Like, dude was like super old. Yo, I don't have a flag. He got Navy Seals now. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:07:21 I really have an old black man. I got Navy Seals with him. Yeah, y'all got to find flags. This shit is disrespect. Y'all can throw flags at me. I can't throw flags. The one time I want to throw a flag? Small lady.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Small Asian ladies With a special set of skills With a special set of skills Now if he would have just said Small Asian lady And live it at that Bro, when I went to jail It was an older Chinese guy
Starting point is 00:07:49 Oh an Asian man Right And he was doing pushups With his fingertips Pushups Like real pushups And burpees and all that shit I just knew he will fuck somebody up
Starting point is 00:08:02 If they ever fronted on him They never fronted on him one Asian dude doing push-ups with his fucking fingers I said, yo, this guy fuck a motherfucker up Was that in a hole this hell? No, no, jail.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Like jail? He was in there. Every day he worked out with two fingers. He was doing push-ups with fingers on his fingers. They had another dude. He was like from the islands.
Starting point is 00:08:28 That motherfucker looked like a ninja turtle. Old nigger. 70, 12 packed up. Motherfucking walked He don't talk to nobody. He just work out all day. Wait, what's the old rapper that still swole? He's still having this shit out.
Starting point is 00:08:42 Belly Bell. That's my OG. Billy Bell's still like... Yeah, Cock Diesel. Like, it don't look like he workout in no gym. It's like he, like, outside just picking up shit. No, no, he's working out. But where...
Starting point is 00:08:56 But not the real gym, though. 60 years old. That's what I'm saying. That's not a regular, like, I'm going to the gym and being around other people. That's the outside gym. Years of lifting all kinds of shit. Shit.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Right. Weight in a satchel. He was lifting weights, barrels of cement, mattresses. We had a guy in our hood. He wasn't cocked diesel, but he was big. His name was Rhino. A Rhino smoked that angel dust, and we would gas him. He would pick up a car.
Starting point is 00:09:23 No bullshit. The little cars, he'll pick up a Honda accord. Like, come on, Rhino. Come on, Rhino. He's off the dust. But no money. Nobody offered no money to do it. Money, nothing.
Starting point is 00:09:34 I used to pay this dude. Yo, y'all niggas, yo, let me see. I was pretty much the devil at one point. We had a guy named Chagito used to jump out the four-floor window. In the project, Chagito. And I'd be like, Chagito, I got a dollar. We're thinking he going to die. The nigger jumping out four floors.
Starting point is 00:09:54 He laying down on his feet. Boom, Chagito would give him a dollar. We was trying to make him die, literally. Like, come on, jump out, Chagito. Jump out. He would jump out the four-floor. window. He just waved a dollar.
Starting point is 00:10:07 He jumped out. Dollar's big time in the hood. Try to make him die. It's fat. What we wanted. What we wanted? What do you think we wanted? We was like gassing him to jump out the fourth floor window.
Starting point is 00:10:22 What if he died? It'd have been fucked up. The Shagito. I watched him get hit by a car one time. Car hit him. Boom. This is the only time I seen the car hit somebody. Hit him that n'niggin.
Starting point is 00:10:35 flew all the way in the ass so big. Everybody was like, Chagito! Like, we thought he was dead. He hit the floor. Everybody was like, stay down. And then he got up, brushed that shit off and ran off. Yeah. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:10:52 Everybody who had got that person. We had a guy named Johnny Cash, he had big-ass calf muscles. And he used to just walk around interrupting people's conversations. So if you was having a car, he'd just come, uh-huh, ah-huh, just for no fucking reason. You could be having a full-blown conversation with somebody, and he just interrupted that shit.
Starting point is 00:11:09 He'd do that shit, and he'll make any, like, like, I remember Rhinstone Cowboy. I didn't know that was a country song because the way he sang it was real social. He had his own. He had his own. He had his own. He had his own Trial.
Starting point is 00:11:22 No, he's like a Rimestone Cowboy, Cowboy. You know, it'd be like, damn. He'd be singing that off a B. I thought it was like, I thought it was that bitch on B. It's not like the Supreme was singing that shit when he was singing. Man, let me tell you. But you wouldn't know that Whitney Houston got that joint
Starting point is 00:11:38 from Dolly Parton. Well, I will always love you, right? I will always love you. She got that shit from Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston. And so, you know, that music is you know, you can flip it any which way. So I'm in Chicago. Okay. Right? And the big movie
Starting point is 00:11:57 comes out. And I happen to be at the radio station, promoting one of my songs. Man, these people are so proud. of you, bro. They were bragging about you live on that air. Like, I barely got to say, yo, I have a song out. Like, they were like, yo, little well, he's on fire
Starting point is 00:12:15 out here. He's in the movie, this and this and that. I can never forget you're from Chicago. The way they put it down for you. What was it like growing up in Chicago? From New York, we assume a very dangerous place.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Right. Like, what's it like? Chicago. I mean, I'm from the west side of Chicago. You know, most people always about the South Side, but I'm from my West, which is... Which is common from?
Starting point is 00:12:40 South South. And you from the West Side? The West Side would be like... By the Puerto Rican to the Mexicans. Oh, Lupe? He's telling us. Lupe fiasco is from the west side. Cushal Conflict is from the West Side of Chicago.
Starting point is 00:12:54 I think Dewa dies from my West. I'm not sure, but like, yeah. You want to ride in the backseat of the caddy. And a caddy. Woo! Damn.
Starting point is 00:13:04 See? That shit was real back then, boy. You know, my shit, the Houston, nigger, the niggas say, oh, what's the Houston, the big boy from Houston? He passed away. What, how does song go? Oh, that shit, the Cadillac, right? Oh, me and Big Pomp play, that's, want to be a baller.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Shot caller 20-h days. Go to be a baller-ball. That shit, that's shit, that way. We're the highway. Hey, voo churuba way. I just said it. Hey, hey, hey, hey. That's funny.
Starting point is 00:13:43 It's certain people who didn't have to know how to sing and they can just be on the chorus. He's one of them. Oh, no, he put one out the park. That shit is a legendary, uh, Texas classic right there. That's crazy. Shot Cola. 20 years later, we sing in the words.
Starting point is 00:13:59 That's funny. That's legendary shit. You already know when it's a real moment, You need a real bottle. That's why we rock with 1800 tequila. You heard me? These people been making tequila for 11 generations. That's right, 11.
Starting point is 00:14:14 That's a legacy. That's OG status. OJ. They were the first to introduce a nejo set the standard before most of these brands even existed. And you could taste the difference for real. The 1800 Cristolino and Repasado was what we've been on lately. Move, clean.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Elevate. No burn, no rough edges, just a premium poor that speaks for itself. You know when there's something that's just built right? That's what this is. Real talk, that's just what it is. It's always around for the best nights, the wins, the celebrations, to remember that night's story. Whether you're keeping it low-key with the crew or you're pulling up to a big event, 1800 fits every setting. It ain't trying too hard. It's just that. 1800 tequila. Real legacy. real smooth, that's the move. True, true, true.
Starting point is 00:15:08 One. I mean, it's funny because you brought up Do It Do You Want to write? Like, it was certain songs at that time It was just a good car riding song. You know what I'm saying? Like people had the Astro vans and shit And they just have the sounds in.
Starting point is 00:15:19 We need up here is A-Boy MJG. Ooh. Those are my guys. I was signed to the same record label himself. Them dudes was hard, yeah. Oh. Whoa. I was up because I got lucky.
Starting point is 00:15:32 I'm on relativity. they got Rashi, they got Common. Yeah. Right. They got Bone Thugs. So I got Cleveland. They got the Dayton family.
Starting point is 00:15:43 You don't know about the Dayton family. Don't tell me the Dayton family. They're from Dayton, Ohio. Don't know about them. They got A-Bore, MJG. They got Matt Dre. So I'm a Bronx kid and I'm listening to all this other shit.
Starting point is 00:15:59 And I'm like, yo, these guys is putting this shit down. out here. Like, but New York was so stuck on New York. They wouldn't think past all the shit I was accessible to it
Starting point is 00:16:14 just being on relativity records, man. You got Tony Swave House, Tony Draper. But you know, so, Joe, it's funny, you say, like, because it's Chicago, right? Like, all of us that, like, you know, I was a big Wu-Tang fan growing up. So, like, in Chicago,
Starting point is 00:16:30 they were out here come to, they called us New York niggas. Oh, shit. For liking Wooten. For liking New York hip-hop. Yeah, it was like, oh, yeah, damn. Because that, that's everything that everybody's listening to. And it's like, you walking around.
Starting point is 00:16:44 We had our book bags on this shit. Like, I was a crazy, insane Woutain fan, which is why by the time I got cool with these niggas, it still blew motherfucking. But I hung out with Ghostface in the lobby, All-Star that weekend was in Chicago that year. Me and this nigga hung out in the lobby and drank champagne for hours.
Starting point is 00:17:01 Right. And nobody kicked us out. Like we both had my little fur coat of. I was hanging out with Tony Stark with a fucking furrow. Drinking champagne in the lobby. He wasn't even a place you hang out at the lot. Woutain, Woutain, even me, I started with Boutain. So when I had my first song, Flojo, they had their first song now.
Starting point is 00:17:21 And we was getting $500 a show. Like, I'm there watching the promoter give me $500, giving 13 niggins, 500. They must have to support chicken min nuggets after that shit, right? But even to this day, when I get around them, they feel like superheroes to me. I don't, I, there's, there's something about Wu-Tang that they just can't do no wrong to fat Joe. Like, I look at each and every one of them as if they're superheroes. They're the greatest rap group to me of all time. Like, it's never, it's an all-star team.
Starting point is 00:17:55 And no disrespect to nobody else shit. You know what I mean? The locks is great. Yeah, it's hard to say, though. But Wu-Tang had a bunch of people. It's like it's hard to compare to anything. Like, when you think about the song, triumph and all those verses on there,
Starting point is 00:18:11 it's not too many times you've seen some shit like there outside of like, like, making like a safe neighborhood. They got real Vangang. They got real Wu-Tang fans. What you said, man? I didn't catch, I ain't- No, I was here. I said, safe a neighborhood.
Starting point is 00:18:24 So, like, we were all in the same game. Yeah, yeah, if it wasn't that type of shit. It was like, Woutang was the only group to consistently make. several songs with all these niggas on there. And they come out with the cousins and all that shit. Master priest, this one and that one. It was like a thousand Wu-Tang niggins.
Starting point is 00:18:43 They had to do... Yo! No! Everybody Wooten! The other day we did that, I'm going to tell you something that I'm guilty of. The other day we did the Knicks parade. So we won the chip.
Starting point is 00:18:59 First parade in 53 years. And, uh, Congrats. Congrats. Thank you, brother. So the Knicks gave me my own flow. I don't know why. Right?
Starting point is 00:19:08 Like, so I, I do not deserve it. Who's on your float? We have Wooten, the Loss, Mardyte, Mary J, Tiana Taylor,
Starting point is 00:19:17 Young Mimeb. We had the world. I brought everybody with me. Right? Only had one guy, rich player. Everybody else was just hip-hop royalty. And when they say,
Starting point is 00:19:27 Y'all, Wuton got to come on the float. I said, I would love for Wutan to come. But, It's not the cousins, right? It's the names of the guys. The real Wu-Tang.
Starting point is 00:19:41 You know what I mean? You guys up there telling me they Wu-Tang. I'm like, oh. It's a, it's a colony of them. They had killer army. They had, I was a Wu fan, so I bought all that shit. Little Shahim. You know who did it, too?
Starting point is 00:19:54 The bone thugs had Motugs. Ken Dogg, Felicia, all that they. Moot-thugs. Moot Ducks sold $5 million. The boys. So imagine the locks is popping. And you're like, yo, these are my cousins? Five million.
Starting point is 00:20:11 Like the cousins sold $5 million. Like bone thugs were so influential. They were like, oh shit, both thugs. But they gotta be good. They didn't have them at their. So I went to see the verses between three, six mafia. But I was actually there. I was there too in L.A.
Starting point is 00:20:28 Man, that shit was crazy. I actually introduced that shit. I had great seats, but I saw all that shit. And it was funny watching it. Was it intense as it? It was because Busybone was kind of like, you know what I mean? Like they had to bring out some little kid to stand next to her. I don't even know if that was his kid.
Starting point is 00:20:45 That's probably his son. His son looked like Elda Barge. Maybe that's what he was. It was crazy. His son beautiful, got the long hair. Nothing like Elder Bar. His Busybone was losing his mind, man. He was like, oh, you know.
Starting point is 00:21:01 What's that? Come on. What do I do? He sends me a video the other day of his kids. They got a new puppy. I thought his kids was beautiful. What's wrong with that? I don't like dogs.
Starting point is 00:21:19 So how do I get a flag from saying Busybone sun is beautiful? I'm really confused right now. Do I just get a flag because of the current weather or some shit? It's going to rain today? Give me a flash. It's...
Starting point is 00:21:35 It's out of control. A little... But all you also call it, El DeVarge, beautiful, too? Or that's where the flash came. El-de-Berleggis is coming out of... Secret Garden. That man had the game on a lot. Did I ask him something?
Starting point is 00:21:59 Yes. I wasn't shooting Gilles. Get Out. Get Out. Oh, man. Maybe one of the best movies I've seen. One of the greatest fucking movies ever created. It makes me feel like that shit really happened.
Starting point is 00:22:13 I mean. No, I wasn't Get Out. Very believable. No, no, I could tell you my version of Get Out. I'm telling you. Well, hold on. I wouldn't hear this, though. But so we shot in Alabama, too.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Wow. So, like. I give it the more. We literally all, it felt like we. You went to the hotel that you hear the shit when you. walking it. Yeah. When I first met Daniel for the first time,
Starting point is 00:22:35 he was coming down his long-ass hallway at the hotel. And I, so we didn't even met yet. And I was scared to this thing because he was like, what the fuck is, that shit?
Starting point is 00:22:43 You know, walking fast as fuck towards me, right? It was, I felt like Jordan did that on purpose put us up in this hotel that was creepy. And the city was creepy. So we all hung out with each other
Starting point is 00:22:52 the whole time. Nobody wanted to go anywhere by ourselves. It was kind of crazy. That's, yeah. In modern time, yeah, it was, it was scary. to shoot the movie. It's like using the movie
Starting point is 00:23:03 within the movie. My version to get out was my neighbor's Kevin Liles and Kevin Lowe's big music. Yeah, he announced he had just
Starting point is 00:23:14 did a deal for like $400 million or something. And he calls me, I'm topless, I'm in my house, topless and shit. Yeah, yeah. You know, Puerto Rican,
Starting point is 00:23:29 you know, Puerto Rican on the front. on FaceTime, he topless. That thing ain't got no shirt on in the house. He just ain't got one. I mean, you can say shirtless. I'm topless. I'm watching.
Starting point is 00:23:44 I'm chilling. He's like, yo, bro, we celebrate and come next door. So I'm like, yo, man, you know how topless is shit. I'm already good. He know, I'm his neighbor. I can get butter from him. Salt, whatever. I'm like, yo, I'm good.
Starting point is 00:23:59 Now, I come through. Russell Simmons. Everybody's here. This is, all right. Put a shirt on. I go next door. I walk in this. Now you have to understand.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Not exaggerating. I grew up in the 90% black neighborhood. Then my grandmother lived in the 99% black neighborhood. So I want to say it's fair enough to say I grew up with all type of black people. I walk in that house. It was to get out of black people. They just was caught Phoebe Wallenford, the third people. I'm like, yo, where they find these feet?
Starting point is 00:24:36 Yo, I felt like I was in the black get out. I'm up in this shit. I'm like, yo, what he did you? The motherfuckers looking weird and shit. It looked like Martha's Vineyard. Okay, so let me tell you something. That's not the black version to get out. You walked into like Lekeef's character that, you know,
Starting point is 00:24:53 the white people were winning his brain. So you was in a house full of the motherfuckers. Holy shit. I've never seen this before. Took over the body. I've been to everywhere. you can think of. It's Kevin Lowe's house.
Starting point is 00:25:04 I'm walking through it. I'm like, yo, this shit, weird. The way they set the whole, I see, yo, what the fuck is Kevin doing with these? Because they're not like us. It's the weirdest shit you ever seen in your life. But crack, you know what's crazy?
Starting point is 00:25:19 I always thought if it was a sequel, that's what would happen. Like, we would, like, go to the house that white people took over the brains. And they all in the room. Yo, Kevin Lown's house. They got the scar. They got the scar.
Starting point is 00:25:31 I'm telling you, I went to the real one. You never seen people like this die. I'm telling you. You never, I said, like, yo, Keb, I go to the back. Yo, what the fuck is all these weird dudes in your fucking house and shit? Yo, that's the sequel, bro. Yo, I'm telling you, bro, I was in the black get out. I'm going to walking up in there.
Starting point is 00:25:54 I'm like, yo, this is incredible. I couldn't believe it. I was walking around for like a week telling people, Yo, I never seen this before. Like, nowhere in the world. Now that you told this story for me, it's like Jordan Peele, you've got to do this shit now. Because I always wondered what happened with all the people that they took over. Yeah, where they're at?
Starting point is 00:26:13 Where they're at? It was in Kevin Law's house. In Kevin Loud's house. Yo. I'm telling you, I was confused. I walk in there. I'm like, yo, this is my name. You know, Kevin Liles, you know.
Starting point is 00:26:29 Yeah. I wake up. wake me up. He'd be in my pool with a fucking six pack of beers. Like, y'all, I'm in your pool. Like, we really neighbors. He'd be at a house. He's topless, right? He's topless.
Starting point is 00:26:41 He's topless. He's in the pool. Was all the weird black people top of them? No, no, no. They had like, Phoebe Wallingford. They were eating this shit would, like, nah, this shit was get out. The black version. bro.
Starting point is 00:27:01 No, I'm walking up in there. I'm confused. You just said the sequel. That is the sequel to it. I am confused. That's crazy. I walk up in there. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:27:07 yo, where these people? I don't know. I know every black. Did they try to get your office? I've been Compton, Alabama, anywhere you could be in the world. A blackest of America,
Starting point is 00:27:16 Africa. I never seen people like this. I walk up in there. I'm like, yo, what the fuck? I love it. Who are these guys? That's great.
Starting point is 00:27:23 Phoebe Waller for the third? Nick, I went in the back. I see your pet. Who's these people with your house? But you really just. pitch you get out too. Like, that's fucking crazy. I swear to go.

We're a variety show, and if you're looking for strong opinions, funny opinions about sports, entertainment, politics, pop culture, and whatever else catches my attention,

And I say that with love and respect for both of those actors. And I don't know how many Oscar nominations they give out, I don't know if it's five, six for Best Actor. 150% this kid Jafar Jackson should absolutely positively get nominated for his portrayal as Michael Jackson.
Starting point is 00:31:57 Listen to I Am Rap Report on the I Heart Radio app, Apple podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Comedy, are you like funny all the time? Two things. A double question, right? Just for all comments. It always feels like your life is dark
Starting point is 00:32:21 in real life. Right? These guys commit suicide. They go through a lot of shit. It just seems like The therapy is comedy. Right? And so with my history, and I like to laugh,
Starting point is 00:32:36 so my history of studying comedians is like it comes from a dark place and the humor. And is everybody, like, are you working on us now? No. Because I feel like all the comedians, they practice they shit on me all the time. Well, everybody different, right? I know, like, y'all know Mike Epps, right? Like Mike is always funny Like he always home
Starting point is 00:33:01 It's just what it is And you got comics who's like that And then like if you're around Like a Chris Rock Who's super cheer You know what I'm saying That's a great That's a great
Starting point is 00:33:10 Distinction right there He always super chill So I'm a lot Like I don't do I don't have to do My stand up from a dark place Which is you know A little legend
Starting point is 00:33:20 You think about Richard Pryor Like the things he went through Is kind of what shaped him As a comic He's humor I tell you but at the same time, like, I know, it's a balance of both. Like, I've used comedy, like, fences.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Like, my dad passed in January. So I've been working on the next special just dedicated to him. So I went to Chicago maybe a couple months ago and headlined a club for the weekend. And literally talked about putting my dad's funeral together, like everything. And it was. So it's therapy at the same time, but you can find humor in the truth. Because the thing about it is at the end of the day, comedy always shows the fuck up. Like, I don't care what's going.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Like, even when I was playing his funeral and I'm at the funeral home and something funny it happened, I'm like, what the fuck? Comedy. Even though my saddest shit, it just shows the fuck up. Well, you gotta have comedy. You mean, even when you used to see the greatest mafia films where the motherfucker was like, do I look funny? What's funny like to you?
Starting point is 00:34:17 This, like, Yuma, I did this movie with Mac 10 out in L.A. was caught Thicken in Water back in the days. And he had this guy. And this guy had to be the funniest dude. And he's one of the gangs, because you know, he's the gang. And he was the funniest dude. And one day somebody tried him. He said, well, you trying me?
Starting point is 00:34:40 This was the funniest night's guy. He said, you ain't never gang banging your life, nigga. Who you try? He wound up pounding the dude out, pause, beating him up, middle of the street. And I was like, damn, this is the funny guy. They took him for, they thought because he was, funny, they took them for granted. That's also true, too, Craig.
Starting point is 00:35:03 Like, it's just because somebody do comedy, you still don't know where they're from, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. That don't mean they won't put hands and feet on. Oh, he put super hands and feet on them. He said, oh, wait a minute. You think because I tell jokes,
Starting point is 00:35:17 that was it. I'm telling you, I never forgot it in my life. He said, oh, you think because I tell jokes and I be laughing, he said, you ain't never gang bang in your life. shit out of him. And did he, when he stopped, did he just start joking around again, act like he didn't do it?
Starting point is 00:35:35 He was always just a funny dude and everybody always needs a funny dude. Like, I don't know what, every crew needs the dude. Like, Big Pump was our like, that's not about to say, MCs, yeah, like between the punch lines y'all do and all that's like, yeah. Like, most of my friends have been rappers over the time. Like, they're some of the funniest people I know. Yeah. Like for real.
Starting point is 00:35:57 Because the best rappers use humor like Biggie, black and ugly as ever. However, Coochie down, you know, the pun was witty. You know what I'm saying? Like, you know, the eye tub popping. But he's funny too. The best rappers are funny.
Starting point is 00:36:12 They got some type of humor to it. He said, New York love me like when Mitch hit a three free throw. Who the fuck thinking about that? Niggas don't, Mitch can't hit a free though. But that's humorous. The greatest lyricist, Have always you, Snoodong.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Oh, man. I have re-fell in love with the chronic album. I keep saying this to everybody here. And he just, oh, easy. Oh, you know, I'm like, yo, this guy, how can I hear this three years? 30 years later and find it 20 years. Hell, they all there, they're going to bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, pan.
Starting point is 00:36:49 They were like, all right, guess the game. He was like, this shit, yeah, yeah, yeah, 20 seconds. things to fuck bitches Yeah, yeah, yeah And I start laughing Like it's brand new Like I heard it for the first time I might have heard it a million times
Starting point is 00:37:04 That's funny You is funny This Dave Chappelle show Right I could never Let me ask you that question Right because it happens to me Right so if I make music
Starting point is 00:37:16 So I create music And in order to make music Make hits You gotta like it Yeah. Right? So I'm playing like a record I made that I think so dope and I play this shit 20, 30 times a day
Starting point is 00:37:32 and at a point it gets to the point where I can't even enjoy it no more because I heard it so much and now I'm hearing it like I don't hear it the same way. Does that happen to you? It doesn't happen to anybody if you keep playing something 2-2-2-2-2-2-2. That happens then like when you like, I mean, not like that, but like the movie
Starting point is 00:37:55 is the one I just directed. Like you, I looked at it so many times to the point I'm not sure about certain things anymore. You can't be in the moment no more, right? That's when you start sending it to people, right? You're like, hey, I need you to look at this because I don't, I'm too married to it now. Because I never, the point I'm trying to make is
Starting point is 00:38:14 I never could enjoy the Dave Chappelle show because I was too busy thinking who the fuck wrote this shit. Like, it was so funny to me. that I'd be like, this guy had to be on dope. Like, how did he think of this shit? Like, who's on the drugs?
Starting point is 00:38:30 Like, this shit, the shit he was doing had me just bugging out like, yo, what the fuck? Somebody's crazy to think about this shit. I mean, that's why I loved about the Charlie Murphy stories, man. Like, Charlie was just so, like, he was so real about it.
Starting point is 00:38:45 And you knew he was serious, but he was, like, we were talking about the gangster guy. Like, he was hysterical, though. That's who, I think, Charlie represented too more than anything. Like, he represented those cats that was just funny that you knew. Like, them tough niggas that was just the funniest dude you knew.
Starting point is 00:39:01 And that's who Charlie Murphy really was. You know what I'm saying? He wasn't a quote-unquote professional comedian, but he was a funny motherfucker from your crew. Yeah. That, man, let me tell you something. That shit fact. Yeah, without trying, though.
Starting point is 00:39:15 Like, it was just like, you know, because when you hear stories, like, man, just being around Charlie, like I have, like it was certain stories he would just tell about just hand. and getting out with Eddie. It's like, we didn't even get all the stories. Like, if you ever hung out, what are you like, dude? I mean, one time he told me,
Starting point is 00:39:31 he told me he got high as fucking went to the Bronx and started kicking niggas in the chest. And I'm like, why the fuck was you doing that? He's like, man, I was walking to him. Like, bam! Bows, niggas. I'm like, okay. And I don't even know why he was telling me this shit.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Nah, he just said. His story, Charlie Murphy was crazy. And I know a guy. I can't say the name. I can't do the who. No, no. I know a champion boxer who told me
Starting point is 00:39:59 that he wears hoodies and a mask on and he'll go to a local gas station for no reason to knock the nigga out that's pumping the gas. He said, yo, I love his shit, Joe.
Starting point is 00:40:12 I just pull up in the gas station with the pool shi-stie, hoodie on, a nigga pumping gas. I just knock them out. Swear to my mother. Legendary boxer. told me this shit.
Starting point is 00:40:25 I don't know why they tell me stuff like this. I didn't ask him for it. How old is he that? This nigga hit you. It's like a truck hit you. You just abbreviate. You try to figure this shit out. That motherfucker still knocked you out.
Starting point is 00:40:43 He's crazy because he told me that. He said, yo, Joe, I just pull up in the gas station hoodie mask, some nights and I just knock a nigga out while you bought. And this shit don't make the news or nothing. No. No, he never got caught, obviously. But it should be like a news story. Like, yo, it's a serial knock a nigga out guy.
Starting point is 00:41:02 At the gas station, be careful. We probably get it. As Vegas, we on the lookout for a serial knock a nigga out guy. That shit crazy. Huh? Yo, I'm telling you. Man, so I didn't get a weirdest shit. I ain't like being my hunting camp.
Starting point is 00:41:20 I love directing. Like, this is my thing now. You know what I'm saying? I took advice from Ava Duvenet and Sean Levy, who I did Free Guy with, he does Stranger Things. But Ava was like, yo, real, like, it's an opening in a way for comedy directors. Like, most people are direct, they're direct comedies, but nobody's like saying, like, I'm going to be a comedy director.
Starting point is 00:41:39 And she, like, it's actually an open lane for that. And I'm like, you know, something you write. So that's why I met with it. I want to, like, keep direct. Because comedy fitting so many categories, you got comedy horror, rom-coms, comedy action. It's just, you could throw comedy with so many different things. things, I want to, like, have my hand on all that shit.
Starting point is 00:41:55 So, and then I got a chance to collab with, hello, he's bloated here? He left? No, he got a trip. We're going to let a trim fire break. Sky Rizzy. You went to go take a piece. Carlos is what of my, like, he's in a movie.
Starting point is 00:42:09 So, like, put him, Carlos Billy. Yeah, yeah. And, man, he chills this movie. But I was having. These guys don't miss. He's him and his crew. But that's why I was wondering why nobody put them in, like, a position to be on a big screen.
Starting point is 00:42:21 They got this crazy following. they're fucking hysterical, they're super talented. And so that's why... It always takes a real one. It always takes somebody like yourself. Yeah. I don't know if it's comedy,
Starting point is 00:42:32 but I just feel like Hollywood got a whole bunch of gatekeeping. And it's like... I think that's overthought. I think it's... I think the gatekeeping is... Because first of all, I think people over, like,
Starting point is 00:42:47 when they talk about Hollywood, right? We almost talk about like it's the wisdom of eyes. Yeah. Where all of us are part of it. anyway. All this shit is Hollywood. Whether you do an independent film or with a major studio, I just think you got to be okay with not
Starting point is 00:43:01 being a pick me all the time and just create this shit on your own. And so like getting, finding a way to get financed and this shit like that. But that's what made me do a movie with my friends. My thing is, I love outlets like the Remi Network 2B all that because you got guys,
Starting point is 00:43:19 you got talent, men and women that have talent. And they wind up shooting it themselves and you don't need a $1 billion. And this shit pop off. You know, everything in my life historically has never been given to me. It's always been you've got to create it for yourself.
Starting point is 00:43:37 Everything. Like everything I've ever got, nobody ever gave it to me. It wasn't like I had a big homie. It wasn't like, it's always like, all right, you did it on your own. Congratulations, Joe, successful. What else you're going to think of?
Starting point is 00:43:50 Yeah. Because ain't nobody giving you shit. And so that's why I was telling Rich earlier I said you're rich. I got an idea about a series and I said, I might as well fund this shit. Shoot it hood-wise or whatever.
Starting point is 00:44:04 We already know it's going to be ill if we write the shit. You know what I mean? And then put it on Tooby or Remmy Network or some shit like that. Anything, right? Even if you do Tooby like learning just the licensing of things, right?
Starting point is 00:44:17 You shoot it on your own. You can license that stuff to forever to a bunch of different places. You can get to be a couple years and maybe Netflix. Like, it's just, it's like if you learn the business or show business, you'll stop waiting on somebody to give you some shit. I agree. You say no, but I say yes.
Starting point is 00:44:33 You waited for somebody to come put you in some shit. It's not going to happen. And the way it does happen is like, say, Juski, I happen to know because we got the same barber. He stole my barber. What the heck? That motherfucker can't give me a cut no time soon. He has to move.
Starting point is 00:44:51 after movie Drewski? Oh no, he's the new Kevin Hart. Like he's just he's disrespecting the bags.
Starting point is 00:44:59 Like he just got movie after movie after movie after that next year we're going to see him everywhere. You're going to be on every movie
Starting point is 00:45:06 everywhere. He's just caking up legend. But I think once you get on that run that it's like you're on fire
Starting point is 00:45:12 then, you know, everybody, oh, I got an idea. A little row. Well, this is this thing about it. It's about consistency though,
Starting point is 00:45:21 right? And that's, I'm actually fascinating to see, like, what the, a lot of the internet guys, what their loan game is. You know what I'm saying? Because it's hard to stay consistent. You know what I'm saying? Like, it's the game of the game. It's consistent. I think Drusky out of almost everybody.
Starting point is 00:45:39 And King Battsu is also. Yeah, because you can't, you can't, you can't, in the, no, I think they have an opportunity to do something very unique. Because Drusky, like, I think we was somebody outside there was somebody living color. And he was able to. able to do like a one man in living color what he's doing, right? It's kind of crazy. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:45:56 Come on now. That's fine. No, for real. You got the organic coffee, man. That's why I tell you, dunk the donuts, man. A Kiss Cafe. Kiss Cafe, baby.
Starting point is 00:46:06 Give me some Kiff Cafe with some splendor in there. Cold brew. God, it's funny. It's like, I was like, yeah, because, you know, I was saying something beef. You was like,
Starting point is 00:46:15 you had your French hat on with the little shit on. What the fuck is this coffee? What the green beret? You had your fresh shit on you. If you didn't, that's crazy. Because the industry needs to you like, what the fuck is this? Your shit is crazy.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Yeah, I hear you rebel. No, what the fuck? No, no, it's nasty. Dunkin' donuts. No, that shit was poison. What was that? He just gave me some shit, some bullshit. You like ice coffee? Ushki really did a one-man living color. I think he's doing it. I think what he's doing is, and I'm proud of him
Starting point is 00:46:49 because, you know, he's actually somebody that has respect, too, for the game. You know what I'm saying? He shows everybody loves. He's not like, you know, I like the fact he's taking these pressure moments and he's showing up. And we'll see, like I said, like,
Starting point is 00:47:04 he ain't never going to blow up until he put the dick in his ear like the weighing guy. Jesus, correct. What's that shit? White girls? What was this shit? They was scary movie? What's the shit?
Starting point is 00:47:16 One of them shit, he had a dick in his ear in the bathroom through the hole. You know, I'm a shot again. You can't pay me for that. You can't. You can't. You might put a dick.
Starting point is 00:47:25 A dick in your ear in the back. What's the shit? Gloryhole they call that shit of some shit. That nigga did it. The wands. That's not. I mean, look it up. Like, how much did they pay this man to do that?
Starting point is 00:47:40 To even assume the position. I think he wrote it. Yeah, yeah. He wrote it. He wrote it and said, I want to, kicking my ear. Yo, you got it. Like, what kind of drugs?
Starting point is 00:47:56 Y'all, we're talking about some of the edgiest stuff ever written this from them. Oh, man, them guys are fucking... So they don't give a fuck. Yeah, it's... If it's the joke, they're gonna go... They was the first pro-LGB.
Starting point is 00:48:10 Remember they had the character on Living Color? Yeah, it's raining, man. It's raining, man. Hallelujah. What was the educated guy? Oh, you're talking about the deep dude in jail. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:22 If you're in the hymone clobin. These guys, he's like the comedian. He was saying all types of crazy. You know, we know smart dudes like, yo, let me tell you some. This guy was smart. Let me tell you, I had a guy in my hood. And I hope he don't kill me because he was really a gangster. Nah.
Starting point is 00:48:41 Nah, I can't. He's really a gangster, really a killer. And if he sees this, he's probably going to be mad at me. But I remember back in the day, this shit was the 90s. He was showing me videos of guys saying there was going to be no more cash. He was going to be credit guy. The whole time, like, yo, what the fuck is wrong with this thing? Because he was saying no more cash, they're going to get credit card,
Starting point is 00:49:05 or Numinati shit. I'm talking about 90s. And all that shit started coming true. Now I'm like, yo, this motherfucker knew some shit 20 years ago. Like, that shit was that. You go to the barbershop, they play that shit. Yo, if you ever look at the dollar, you see the pyramid, the disband. A lot of that shit, they were talking about really fucking.
Starting point is 00:49:29 It was going to be phones where you could talk to a guy with their face this 20 years ago. I mean, that's a Star Trek episode. Like, if you watch Star Trek, they was FaceTiming first and all the type of shit. Jets. I feel like all this shit existed way before they just gave it to us. That's what I mean. Yeah. I feel like AI.
Starting point is 00:49:48 way longer than we think. I'm at AI niggins. You ever met him? I'm in Dubai. You know, we use these these concierge and they do like this and shoulders moving.
Starting point is 00:50:10 You don't smile, no emotion. I'm telling, I'm telling Rich in them, I'm like, yo, this guy, AI. This guy's a real robot, real person. I promise you, I believe, I met, yo, get rich play over here. They're using them in Dubai.
Starting point is 00:50:25 They're using them. These guys, when you look at them, they're not walking like human beings and all that. And they're not smiling. They're not nothing. I'm telling you, they got AI concierge in Dubai. Now when y'all go out there, look at the concierge, and you're going to be like, yo,
Starting point is 00:50:42 fat Joe might not be fucking lying, bro. I'll tell you, son. Robot people. I bought my kids when they were. Maybe like this is like five, six, seven years ago. Remember those little robots pet things? Mm-hmm. I promise you I turned that motherfucker off.
Starting point is 00:51:00 I know I switched it off because I was already like kind of weird about this because I don't fucking trust robots. I wake up, this motherfucker was red eyes just doing shit. I threw that bitch out my house. Rich play up. Never comes on the show. Rich, you can be the boy's. Why rich making that face?
Starting point is 00:51:18 What we go to Dubai? The concierge guys at Dubai. Yeah. Straight A-I. Robots. I'm telling them. No, like this. Look.
Starting point is 00:51:29 Helping you grabbing your bags. Nah, this ain't. They don't look the same. Why I ain't filming? They're filming them all day, but they look like human bees. But the way they're moving and they move in. And they move their head and all that. You're like, you know, Dubai's always ahead of time.
Starting point is 00:51:44 Yeah. With everything. I'm telling you, they're working the guinea pigs right now in Dubai. of the real guys walking through, grabbing your bags. They don't smile, they don't do nothing. They got no emotion. We was killing them. I don't know how to-
Starting point is 00:51:58 snapping on them, calling them all type of shit. He's like, you like, yo, look this, yo, this shit, he's killing them. Anybody would have even got mad or laugh. Did that scare you, though? Like, because everybody, you're seeing this shit. That shit was frightening as far.

Starting point is 00:56:35 Sit on the couch. Get him a mic. Tell us about the movie. Oh, we gotta do the toast. Okay. What my shit is? Keep it 18. You ain't get low.
Starting point is 00:56:44 At the 80 on it. I never glass. In the mom. Oh. Get my nigga a mug. I'm keeping it then. I'm keeping it. That's my only condition.
Starting point is 00:56:52 I'm keeping. To the movie, Ralph, Lois. Say something good about it. Let the people know what we're doing. For all the real ones out there, we keep in the 1800. Talk about the movies. First of all, my boy Real making his directorial debut.
Starting point is 00:57:07 Let's make some noise for that. Let's go, Ralph! I'm talking about. I know y'all can relate to this man. When I first met this man, we was putting together a $20 piece to get some ground turkey to make some burgers on the George Foreman. I love that. For the trenches, maybe?
Starting point is 00:57:26 Straight from the trenches. I watched him jump into the movie game, super proud of him. He's been putting it down and he got to get behind the camera. You ever see your boy do some shit? You ain't know what he could do? Like, I'm thinking he just, you know what I'm saying? About to just talk a little shit. Like y'all do this right here.
Starting point is 00:57:40 But no, he got the monitors. He's like, give me a 15. Bring the lights up. That's crazy. A little step to the left. He know that shit. He knows that shit, man. So I'm super proud of him.
Starting point is 00:57:50 He called me. I was like, real, it don't matter what it is, man. You've been a real one. Anytime you call me, I'm going. We would put together a, a super dope project, man. We got special effects. We got monsters.
Starting point is 00:58:01 We got drama. We got laughing. We got comedy, man. What's the name of the movie? We got... Hunter Heist. Hunter Heist, man. Honey Heist.
Starting point is 00:58:10 Let's go. Yeah, man. Badjo, you funny as hell, man. I saw you then want the next series to end. You was like, Timothy Shalamee, he ain't calling me no more. Oh, no, he ain't called me since. We ain't realistic. No more.
Starting point is 00:58:27 You know, Timothy hanging out with me every day, Rao. Yeah, let's go this. That's motherfucking called me since, man. He called you next season. Next season. Next season. I'll see him next season. We season new friends.
Starting point is 00:58:38 Yo, you know who did me like that? Who? Is Blake Griffin. Blake Griffin? He looked like everybody want to hang out with Blake. He wanted to hang out with Blake. He came to, like, the comedy festival in Marriada, just for last festival.
Starting point is 00:58:51 All the comedians go. And he did stand-up. So he was all our friend for, like, the week. We was hanging out. I thought we was going to be friends. Man, we embraced them, we have five and we party together. And we got back to a regular life. I saw him at the Soho House.
Starting point is 00:59:06 I was like, what's up, Blake? He was like, hey. And then walked away. I was like, damn. I was hurt by that. I was like, man, we was buddy. I was bragging about that, everybody. Hip hop is the king of that.
Starting point is 00:59:17 Especially your up-and-coming rapper is the king of that. You mean, yo, you know how many people would be like, yo, I met DMX, like artists I had back in the day. Met DMX. He says when he, do a whole album with me this and this. I see your brother, DMX ain't never.
Starting point is 00:59:34 What do you mean? Y'all met Farrell, Farrell said, Pharrell ain't never calling you back. When I met R. Kelly for the first time, and the man said, yo, Fat Joe, I want to do a song with you. I gently put my
Starting point is 00:59:49 hand on his shoulder because I was still 90% hood, 10% rapper. I said, yo, don't lie. at me, because I can't even believe you even know who I am. Fuck out of year. I grew up with the Puerto Ricans. I love Fat Joe, this, and we did the song.
Starting point is 01:00:06 But it was like, you know, he wasn't full of shit. Like, it was like, you find more full of shit people in this business than you find actually people with, it's just actually hard to believe their word. Like, now when you see somebody do that society's so fucked up, then now when somebody give you their word or they're a real one, it's like, shocking that someone kept their word. You're like, oh, wow, this guy's a man of his word.
Starting point is 01:00:33 It's not supposed to be like that with morals and principles. What I'm thinking about, it's like, it's also interesting when you like, and I think that's why to play Griffith. They hurt so much because I was like, man, because we saw a basketball player do what we do. Right? We like, dang, he came into our world.
Starting point is 01:00:50 Like, we can't, I can't go, like, he could just jump at a school. Literally, you go to clippers and get a tent date. Got that. Yeah, but it's cool that you even, that you're a good person, brother, because most of these comedians, to me, I feel like when somebody outside of a comedian tries to, they better be the funny. They didn't not believe in it.
Starting point is 01:01:12 Like, you know how many comedian friends I got this, like, big time that was like, y'all, tea, I'm trying to be a comedian. Like, you know, not everybody don't embrace it. This is scary part. When we all saw Blake on stage, he was so. so fucking funny. That's the one really made us uncomfortable. And like I remember laughing. Man,
Starting point is 01:01:32 he was fucking hysterical. Wow. Wow. I don't even say that shit all the time. Maybe that's just calling. The motherfucker was the shit he was doing and talking about the NB. Like it was like, yo, this, it's actually irritated. And I was laughing like, ha ha.
Starting point is 01:01:49 So you can jump out the gym and tell jokes, motherfucker. His brother was cold too. Yeah. but I mean, Blake is funny on stage, Carlos, I'm not even lying. You know, I always thought I was actually surprised. You could.
Starting point is 01:02:04 But I'm just like very one-dimensional. No, he could. No, why he can't pick me up, bro? Why he can't pick me up? You fucking hate him. I beat it. Fuck, he said. You know, why he can't pick me up?
Starting point is 01:02:17 Give him two minutes. Man, look, get you right, man. Do you see? I believe that. I believe that. I believe that. I believe that. I believe that.
Starting point is 01:02:25 You believe that? Yeah, he can help you and get it with his expertise. You can get right. What you got a little bit of and when he got a lot of him, he can help. Joe got it, man. He got plenty of shit. And he got you a story, jealous. He's just got to shorten it up.
Starting point is 01:02:44 It's just you got to shorten it. It's about 80 niggins. No, Stephen A. Smith came in. I want to kick it with Joe. One too. I just need to kick it with that Joe for like one weekend. So we can have the premise, the setup every time is, it's me and a hundred niggins.
Starting point is 01:03:07 Every joke started like, that's when the crowd knows. Oh, shit, about to get good. So it's me and a hundred Puerto Rican niggins. It's my grandmother's 77th birthday. We eating grilled cheese. I'm talking about some of the best cheeses. The softest breast. You never, you niggas never seen bread this salt.
Starting point is 01:03:29 That's that good. You never seen cheese. That's the good. Boy. Joe, that's it. Oh, that's it. Hello. Hey, Joe.
Starting point is 01:03:42 Yo, I didn't even tell you niggins about the suit. He been doing this all day. He's been doing this all day? Man. Yo. They talk shit all the. I don't get it. Fuck, man.
Starting point is 01:03:54 Yo. Anytime you start. off a story, like, I want you to, even if it wasn't, I want you to say it was a hundred niggins. Fuck a regular story, nigga, who else get to travel with a hundred niggins? Nigger, that's fun.
Starting point is 01:04:08 I'll tell you, he been doing this shit. Like, you don't understand. He been doing this all the job. Hunting lobsters, 100 states. He's like, you know, it was 100. Puerto Rico. He just started all the stories when it was a hundred for a rick. Let me ask you a question.
Starting point is 01:04:18 This room. That's so big. 40 guys coming in. Say 30. Wouldn't it feel like a hundred nakes? everywhere you turn around as motherfuckers over you this and then
Starting point is 01:04:29 you'd be like yo what's a hundred niggins you this is right that funny part how you
Starting point is 01:04:36 nobody nobody had a question nobody never question nobody never questioned and how about
Starting point is 01:04:43 you know where I got these motherfuckers the Roots picnic right now now you want to hear
Starting point is 01:04:48 comedy because I know the leader of your comedy the whole cult your whole
Starting point is 01:04:53 Masonic thing what the fuck Cool up. Wait a minute. Listen. I just knew y'all this shit. The leader of the coat is Dave Chappelle. Dave Chappelle.
Starting point is 01:05:04 I'm at the Roos picnic, and I'm trying to figure out where to go. And I've seen him walking. I said, follow him. He knows. And everybody's Halib Kualim. All these fucking backpack rappers, everybody walking with the nigger, De La So he's the leader. He's walking through like the Messiah.
Starting point is 01:05:24 So I say, yo, we. better follow days. The best one, that we're going on this thing, and I turned around there like, yo, Joe, what's supposed to say? Now, you wouldn't believe me if I wouldn't,
Starting point is 01:05:35 I've told you, I was with 100 things. I believe. What I went to 100 things? Only thing Dave Cappell's running this show right now. There's a hundred of them. They start dying laughing at the stick.
Starting point is 01:05:48 I'm like, yo, it is what he is. He got us in backstage, security moved out the way for 100. Got backstage of Jay-C., you know, Beyonce, like they just date your bail-com? Yeah, you got to go to-in-law. They move out the way.
Starting point is 01:06:05 He do a big summer camp at his crib. He got a, he got like 100 acres. And he do a big comedy show, like, on something. He got a comedy club there. I hope I'm invited. Man, she gave me the sneakers. Because it's out in the middle of nowhere in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and like, he owned the whole fucking town.
Starting point is 01:06:23 He even put a dispel of this. That's what he said. Yeah, he got a little this guy. This nigga owned the pizza shop, the pharmacy. He did say own the whole shit. Did you ever see?
Starting point is 01:06:33 He said that. He spoke at the city council. Like, I think there was something going on. You need the roads over here. They wanted to build a new fire department. They had to ask him and make you do the shit. He bought the old one and turned it into a club. So after the show,
Starting point is 01:06:49 he takes everybody to the old fire department and this thing got it laid out. It just looked fucked up outside. You know, Ricky, you know you my girl, man. I got to get invited to these things. No, Ricky, she worked with him. That's my manager. Ricky's your manager?
Starting point is 01:07:07 I'm telling you. Yo, Ricky, what's off? Yo, Fadjo, it's me and a hundred niggins! You know, I saw the coolest shit I posted in it. No, he was... No. Dave Chappelle, like you said, Dave Chappelle is the top dog. And he would have y'all perform, too.
Starting point is 01:07:29 He would have y'all before. You pull up on him, he's like, oh, listen, give me things to you. I'm the only guy, right? So I go see Eddie Murphy's Raw with my whole project, I think, the whole projects, 500 of us. It's 500 niggas. 500, 500. Out of the whole 500 niggis, guess who gets thrown out the movie theater? This one nigger.
Starting point is 01:07:53 right here. I cannot I will die of laughter. Like if you're funny I don't give a fuck. I'm laughing louder than life. There's nothing I can do. I just, I got a weakness. I will laugh.
Starting point is 01:08:10 And so, them niggas is like, yo, you got to go. You're doing too much. Eddie Murphy Raw. They just smoke in blood, drinking 40 ounce. I'm the only sober one. They throw me out of the old movie theater. Like, yo, you got to go, my man. You're doing too much. I love laughing so much.
Starting point is 01:08:26 I mean, I would die at Dave. We got to ask y'all this, because we're such big fans of rappers, and it's like, you do some shit like this, and then you do some shit like this, and then you leave. You'd be singing y'all shit all day. You'd be leaving out of this bitch like, what's love? So my shit, when you be, I always wanted to ask, like, what was that moment for you, both of y'all?
Starting point is 01:08:48 Let him go first. Where you felt like, all right, now the rap shit makes sense. You know what I'm saying? It's like, it's not just chasing a dream. You mean money or what? No, it's just that moment. It felt like you was actually in the game and you weren't just chasing the dream.
Starting point is 01:09:03 You got to go first. No, no, you got to go first. Don't feed off of my fucking. You want to fucking feed off my shit. It's not me without it. Let the youth decide. Youth, youth, on the move. On the move.
Starting point is 01:09:20 I know mine. I don't know. I can't really say. I mean, you can't say when it's not... Benjamins? Not a... Maybe the Benjamins. Yeah, when the Benjamins came out of it,
Starting point is 01:09:33 because we didn't really like it. We didn't think it was going to be what it was. I mean, that was probably like the last song that we recorded on... You ain't like Benjamin's? We didn't like the beat. You could even rap to the Benjamin's beat, but it don't matter.
Starting point is 01:09:49 And then it was like the shit started changing after the Benjamin's. On a bench of a 10, you started wearing like white suits and shit. Kiss, let me ask you this, though. Remember I brought the rooftop joint, right? That was at one of the award shows, right? That was an MTV, one of the MTV award. That didn't feel like that?
Starting point is 01:10:08 Because that was like your own album, too. And it was, I remember that moment was like, yo, this nigga's the best nigga in the world right now. That felt good because it was my solo. But, you know, being with part. Being with Puff and writing for him and seeing all the accolades and shit that he was getting, it felt good to do, you know, get my own flowers because I was getting, they kicked me out of the garden for the other shit.
Starting point is 01:10:41 But this is the thing about it, it's funny because both of y'all got hits that, like, that became the club playover again hits. Everybody don't get that. Like, where they keep starting that motherfucker. Anthems. Yeah, everybody don't have them, though, like legit. I'm going to tell you what it was for me, right? And I was already big, right?
Starting point is 01:11:01 Pund was already double platinum. We already did a lot. I remember one year I was cold and I was in my mother and father's house, New Year's Eve. And for us, before rap, before anything, I don't know if it was a Puerto Rican thing or we celebrated. To this day, it's my birthday and New Year's Eve, guaranteed fat Joe. shit-faced drunk. Those are the two days. I dedicate this whole year.
Starting point is 01:11:28 It's New Year's, I'm drunk. There's nothing you could do. My birthday, I'm walking out the room with the fucking 1800, like nine in the morning. Yeah, I don't give a fuck. Those are the two days. Do you like go to bed with it? No, no, no. When I wake up.
Starting point is 01:11:44 I'm about for a nigga that don't drink, I got bars all over my crib, B. I got bars on every floor. I'm not lying to you. It's too much. So I go like this. But the point is, when New Year's Eve, but with my mother and father,
Starting point is 01:12:00 and it's quiet. Right? It's just quiet. I'm there with the home. We in the house in Miami. And I'm watching, like, you know, the rocking New Year's Eve.
Starting point is 01:12:08 And I said to myself, I was saying, I'm going to be on that bitch next year. Fuck that. I'm going to New Year's Eve. Next year, I was in New Year's Eve, performing New York,
Starting point is 01:12:21 lean back. the next year I was on a tan. So it must have been 2003. I'm with my mother in them because 2004 is when lean back in New York and all that shit came out. New Year's Eve, I never forget. I had the fucking Belor suit on and that was fucking Times Square. And I was like, yeah, I said I was going to do this shit last year. And I did that moment there was like, it was like, just think about it.
Starting point is 01:12:45 How many kids, you know, we watch all these, all these shows. When I was a kid in elementary, I watch Michael Jackson Moonwalk. I watch fucking boy George. Come, come, come, come. Win the every fucking award. Madonna, they're coming with Michael Jackson coming with
Starting point is 01:13:05 Homeboy sitting them on his lap. What's my man? Manuel Lewis. So I'm looking at all this shit. And I'm like, yo, and you come the next day after that award show, there is no social studies current. We're just talking about the award show. Like that's,
Starting point is 01:13:24 so to actually get successful enough to where we performed and we actually won these awards and out, that was another moment for me where I went to jail, lost all my money. Remy went to jail for eight years, though, saw how money.
Starting point is 01:13:38 You lost all your money? They took on my money. I never thought you lost the paper. Oh, no. I lost all my money. I ain't never going to be. The haircut, dirty shoes, or nothing. You know,
Starting point is 01:13:51 You see how these people say, you see how these people say, yo, I was homeless. I was, I don't know. I robbed the bank. I sell big drugs. Like, I'm never going to be broke. So, you, so, like, they took all my money. I still had Cuban links on and ice and brand new.
Starting point is 01:14:07 Like, I'm not the one. Like, when it comes to that, you ain't never seeing me like that. Like, so I'm going to get to the bag. I never even heard that. It's true. They took all my money, millions and millions of dollars. The point is we make all the way up. And me and Remy is backstage.
Starting point is 01:14:23 It's Samuel Jackson is in the audience and everybody. We made it back. And we just held each other's hands like real tight. And they said, all right, performing. Fadjo and Remy all the way up. You see that show there? That was the most energy I had in my life. I came out there with, I had some shit on.
Starting point is 01:14:41 I must say, had like, some Mermazzovote. I came up. I was like, come all the way up. Nothing can stop me. I'm on. That was a moment. for me too. That was like a real
Starting point is 01:14:52 like wow, we're back. We're getting to the bag. You know, we're back where we need to be. You know what I'm saying? That was a big moment for me. Big, huge. Lo-so. Well, let me ask you, because you're asking them this, because we are, I think everybody has this very specific
Starting point is 01:15:08 moments you just don't forget. You know what I'm saying? You're like, oh, shit, I'm here. What was your? Shit. Let me see. Hitting that Ben's dealership for the first time. Because y'all know
Starting point is 01:15:23 it's different when they know you got it. When you're just like working and you can afford this shit, you got to call the bank. You might have to go get it. You might have to run to the house and get another idea or something. But when they know you good for it,
Starting point is 01:15:38 they'll throw you that bitch and be like, ah, come back tomorrow and fill out the paperwork. That was when. When they started trying to give me shit. When they stop asking how you're going to pay for, You want to put this in the company name? Shit like that. I was like, yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:57 And then I took it to get some shit and look there. You know how you do your maintenance and shit. And then the lady brought the other shit around that I was looking at and she put a hole on in that shit. How about when they bring shit that you know yourself? You can't afford it. They start bringing you shit. You're like, I don't think so right now.
Starting point is 01:16:15 I'm just keep. Yeah, I don't want the hydro plane. It only works on water. I'm going to bring some shit. I'm like, ah! How's the bench truck? I really got my eye on this one.
Starting point is 01:16:29 They start bringing out shit. You can't even afford still. But you're like, no, no, I'm good. They start bringing out of electric Rose Royces. This is the spectrum. You're not talking to. I'm good.
Starting point is 01:16:40 That's something in that bitch. I was like, I had to hit him with the motherfucker. Paid and full. White niggins ain't even got a fish. Let me tell you something. I went one of the illest hustlers get money dudes in the planet Earth
Starting point is 01:16:56 in Harlem was my man Von Zip, rest of peace. One day he picked me up and said, yo, come with me, I'm going to Benz there's a true store. And the man buy new Benz and pay with old money. Like the shit smelled like the cemetery. The old
Starting point is 01:17:12 little faces, he paid maybe $100,000 with like, let me know he pulled that shit out the wall. Like, I'm like there. He's like, Joe, oh, my bitch. This shit,
Starting point is 01:17:23 hey, this shit, I'm not looking at him. I'm like, looking at him. For no reason, he wanted to prove
Starting point is 01:17:29 to me that he bought the car $100,000 or whatever with fucking the old shit look orange to money.
Starting point is 01:17:35 He had this shit so long. Like, yo, this thing is stunned it on me. Crazy. What was your moment?
Starting point is 01:17:42 Yeah. Well, it's funny because you, it's like you got those moments, but then you have moments
Starting point is 01:17:49 where you like, this is a big deal. It happened twice. It happened when Get Out came out. When I showed up, nobody knew who I was on the carpet. Nobody did no interviews with me and no shit like that. And we watched the movie and when it ended, me and my team came out.
Starting point is 01:18:06 And I was just like, oh, wow, I'm on a big screen. I was just happy to see myself on there. And, you know, they had a lower level with the people who are not the cast just coming to the premiere. When I tell you, those people bum-brushed me and security had to walk me to my car, and I remember going in a car talking to my team like,
Starting point is 01:18:23 what the fuck is for the happen? You know what I mean? Like it was just, you just felt like it felt like it was a life-changing. It was just sunk. It was crazy. And then the second time was I did one of my specials
