Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, it's us The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast?
Starting point is 00:00:09 Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen.
Starting point is 00:00:27 We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Deanna Maria Riva and on my new podcast, How Hard Can It Be? I call on my Gen X squad from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. Unfiltered conversations from night sweats to fupas to scheduling sex.
Starting point is 00:01:13 Wait, what sex? Is it just me or does every woman my age want to look at Pinterest instead of having sex sometimes? They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva On the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHart Podcasts presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:50 We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they hit a bogo. Well, then you got them. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. If they want to make it happen, I'm down. But I know for it.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Oh, shit. I didn't know we was out here brokering fights. All right. Yo, Devin'Hanee. What's up? Hard Rock Bet. Yo, Devin ain't it. But it got a...
Starting point is 00:02:17 It's been called out, beloved. Let's get ready to rumble. What's up, y'all? This is your boy Joe Crap. It's your boy Jada. You know what it is The Joe and Jada show Every show legendary
Starting point is 00:02:45 Every show iconic And we demolish me shit You think of today's guests Think of Newark, New Jersey You know what I mean? You think of Olympic medalists Five-time world champion
Starting point is 00:03:03 Number three, Powerful Pal greatest fighter in the world undefeated professional record, multi-divided world type hottest young fighter on the planet. Fucking right. Just made history in the world's greatest arena.
Starting point is 00:03:22 Ladies and gentlemen, gilling off of your course, Steve. You know, what on, what on? Welcome to the Joe and Jane this show, my brother. You put on a hell of a spectacular performance. Now, I've been a, I've been,
Starting point is 00:03:40 we fans. of boxers. We fancy yours. We had Eddie Earnedoye. And after speaking of him and having him on the interview, he may be looking to fight in a different way. But, you know, people love boxing for different things. Some people want to see an excited fight. Some people want to see some crazy stuff happening, this, that.
Starting point is 00:04:01 But that, if you learn about the sport, you can learn the difference in different boxes. I was already a fan of yours. when he broke down what you do and how you do and if you was to just be you
Starting point is 00:04:18 in that fight what was going to happen and everything he said I was in my crib going holy shit this is fucking crazy he was like
Starting point is 00:04:28 it made them look like a someone come louder you're boxing and you put on the spectacular you know what I mean and he's like it's not going to be
Starting point is 00:04:38 he's going to be born, but his Chikor is not going to get hit. He's going to meet the other guys and everything. I'm like, yo, this is fucking amazing how he said. No, me, not. Maybe that's why he's in his profession. And we do what we do. But congratulations.
Starting point is 00:04:57 There's nothing but. Did you play that out just the way of waiting your head? I knew it was a tough fight. Like, I knew he was a good fighter. But every time I sat there, I watched him, I'm like, shit, he made. so much mistakes to it. I'm going to capitalize off of every mistake. So, honestly,
Starting point is 00:05:15 everything I've seen on film and how likely what I was going to do, it happened on fighting with everything. Like, from first round of 12, I knew, like, how I was going to be. But he's a good fight. I give him respect, and I appreciate him for the opportunity. So respect me, him, but, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:32 I always got, he gets tired of being saying the same story all the time. Famous fight, Floyd Meyweather. What of the greatest of all time, maybe grace. He was losing this fight to some Mexican guy. In about the six rounds, he switched up the whole shit on him.
Starting point is 00:05:50 And won it at the end, when he won, he started talking about the old video two. Jack Dempsey, this, dad, I had to switch it up like this and this neck. Were you going there? You play it out of your head. Suppose he switched up the whole shit on you.
Starting point is 00:06:04 How would you have adjusted to him switching up his old? If I was a boss, I would have switched up the whole shit. I would have been like, okay, okay, I know he got my number like this. I got to do something different. If I'm being rude with you, it's nothing he could have did that night. That was going to change the outcome of what I was doing. Like, I already had my mindset on the lead dominating this fight,
Starting point is 00:06:31 me winning this fight. So it didn't matter what he did. I was going to be me. I was going to be coming that night. I thought the way I always think about it, right? I used to say back in the days, the guy was Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson to put you to sleep quick. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:51 And I always said, yo, I have to fight Mike Tyson in the street, club, whatever. I got the hook on him so fast and hopefully get lucky. Yo. Nah, I ain't going to lie. No. That wasn't the best bet. Oh, no, he was going to knock me out. But if I try to fight with him.
Starting point is 00:07:08 with them or box or something like this. I'm done. So like, the problem with Tia Fimo, right, who's a great boxer? Um, besides his father. His father's a whole problem. No, it's real talk. His father is not he got to go.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Pops got to go. Pops got to go. He's in the corner. He's in the corner. You'll fight back. That's not a plan. I'm saying, no. I'm saying. That's not crazy and shit. See, you was in the other corner, so you probably No, no, but he's watching. You can't relit.
Starting point is 00:07:40 You're watching that whole fight. I noticed that about you. No, you're watching the corner. His dad was saying the craziest thing, too. You're losing. Fight. You're losing. Fight.
Starting point is 00:07:50 What the fuck is that? I need somebody to say, left jab, cross. Body, what the fuck is that? My only thing about this, though, when he'd been doing this, his dad been doing this, Tio's been just good enough to be able to get away. with this shit. No, no, no, but with somebody like you, he had to be,
Starting point is 00:08:12 he had to respect somebody's opinion and he had to have a real coach game with a game plan. I'm not going to lie. It wasn't going to make a difference. I know, but you got to guarantee y'all. He can't anybody. You got to understand.
Starting point is 00:08:28 You got to understand. At least it would have been something because the problem that happened with Tiafimo, right? he got his answer. Hold up. They gassed him. So he was ring fighter, number one fighter.
Starting point is 00:08:46 He wasn't gassed, though. He was a good fighter. Listen to what I'm saying? No, they gassed him and called him number one. He doesn't look like he's not taking it. He was a good fighter. You number one, he's thinking he's going jab for jab, move for move, technique for tick. That's where he got it all.
Starting point is 00:09:01 That's what happened with you. He made his. Fabulous on that versus. We never talk about that. that. Fab tried to go in there and put freestyles and all that way. He should have just been doing the fucking hit mania. He went to your
Starting point is 00:09:14 game plan. You understand what I'm saying? So with you, he tried to prove that. He believed it. You know, I got enough skills. Shaquille Stevenson. I could go jab for jabber. He fucked up. He should have went in and tried. Like, rough you up or something. But he's used to having
Starting point is 00:09:30 enough skills to where he fight guys and he's in control. Like, he's used to doing things that's like he's. Well, every now and then, you got to elevate, just like we got to elevate. Every now and then, you got to look at yourself for him. I'm hoping he's a great fighter.
Starting point is 00:09:48 He can look at it whether he can't fuck with you or not. He's got to look at his corner and he needs to step up that. Every now and this, fuck that. You got to let him finish talk. What's up with Bud? How important was Bud to you for this fight? in your career, period. Yo, it's crazy.
Starting point is 00:10:11 He kind of gave me, like, I ain't going to say he gave me the gameplay. Oh! But he kind of texts me something that kind of helped. That's what fish you. So when he texted to me, and I looked at what he said, but I've been watching him
Starting point is 00:10:23 and I already was thinking the same thing. It kind of confirmed what I knew. So I'm like, okay, just stick with this. Stick with this on fight night, and it's going to bother him. And then on fight night, when I did that shit,
Starting point is 00:10:37 I'm like, Damn, this shit is fucking him up. He cannot stop this shit. This shit is body. He didn't know what to do. Like, his mind just went into a whole... I'm gonna tell you how you really... Then you land the most amount of jabs.
Starting point is 00:10:51 I don't know. I'm gonna tell you what to stop that. If I was Tia Fima, I'll tell you where to fuck me up. You smiling the whole... That shit would have had me. Dumb type! You smiling the whole shit like you. Bama!
Starting point is 00:11:08 I would have been I'd have to bring the machete out in the ring fuck it the whole place is going down in that bitch that shit
Starting point is 00:11:16 you smiling at them bossing his ass now with with a fight like it's no it's not a you landed 252 jazz
Starting point is 00:11:27 holy somebody made some noise for that I thought I'd landed that most in my last fight it was too it was two 30
Starting point is 00:11:38 something Street fight. 230 something. Come on now. 232 jabs. I don't believe that. It's a long-ass street fight. I believe you race cocky-car up the block faster than the 230 jazz.
Starting point is 00:11:55 I got you not. You know, I once beat up a karate king. You see your man, Tom-Wold. I'm not saying that. I'm not saying that. Kidding me? I'm not saying that. I'm not saying that.
Starting point is 00:12:07 I know you did it. No. Oh, no, no. I put some niggas down, too. Knocked him out. Yo, yonkers. I touch the basement. What were you talking about?
Starting point is 00:12:18 You, you're on your shit today. He must have smoked some shit from that. He still got Callie? I'm fast. He still got Callie Whee? I'm fasting, brother. You fasting? I love you.
Starting point is 00:12:28 Man, that's great. Man, I fast, too. I fast. You ever seen fat, fat Joe? Five hundred. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like the real fucking like the kingpin. Lean back.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Yeah, I lost all that shit fast once a week, keto. You know, I'm pitching the shut out, man, no glissies. I'm doing just fine. At the game tonight. Tuna fish salad. I'm not in. Thanks for going for that. Go diet Pepsi.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Yeah, yeah. I snuck in the diet sunk just here, too. That's part of the, it's going, I'm going leaning back. I'm going light, but I'm getting back on the stuff. It's bad. But, you know, I'm working on it. You know, you see, I'm drinking water. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:13:11 In any case, I've seen something, and we know it. I don't care where's that, where you go, whatever. When a Puerto Rican see that flag somewhere, I don't care if I'm driving in the highway and there's a flag out the project window. It's something. It's like the Batman side. Let me ask the brother,
Starting point is 00:13:33 why did you put the Puerto Rican flag on your shorts? shit, I put it on my shorts because, like, people don't realize I am, like, that's my blood. So, like, I'm in Puerto Rico. Yeah, that's my blood. Yes. But let me explain it, though.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Nah, let me explain it, though. Let me explain it, though. My dad knew you had that where to be. My dad is Puerto Rican, so I never really, But I never really got to really be around him like my entire life. He wasn't in my life. So forget it.
Starting point is 00:14:11 It was hard to like really claim that I'm Puerto Rican or even say it because like I really am. But I don't know my dad. But when I got to meet him, then I got to like build a relationship with him. He died. So it's like I never really kind of. You feel me? So for me it was hard to really like have that like just embrace it. But now I'm like, fuck it.
Starting point is 00:14:34 It is what it is. It's part of my blood. It's part of who I am. And let it be known. And we poppin, B. Fuck, talking to you. You got a new cousin right here. You know, we're in a fluidity cat.
Starting point is 00:14:45 Nah, let me tell you something. Man, I was so proud of that flag on there. But sometimes you got black boxes that grew up with so many Puerto Ricans that when you go to the gym, they don't have a Puerto Rican flag. Like, even Floyd used to have the Puerto Rican flag beyond, but he wasn't Puerto Rican. But when I seen that, I said, man, I got to see what this about right here because we need that in the system. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:13 You know, we, you know, Puerto Rican's my mom's, my mom used to throw a party if it rains. Yeah. My projects, it's raining. Okay, bring out the Benning and so on out here. Sousa Wednesdays, like, they throw a party for everything. But in a similar way, my father's Cuban. Yeah. But I grew up with the Puerto Ricans up here.
Starting point is 00:15:33 My Cuban family was more in Miami. Miami. And so a lot of Cuban fans be like, yo, you say you're Cuban now, but you wasn't really, you was like 100% Puerto Rican. I always knew my Cuban family, but I grew up with my Puerto Rican, say 90% of my life, 95. Like me? Yeah, like you. But we're proud of you, brother. Either way, man, you are pound for pound the best in the game. And the only guy I would compared to be the best in the game would be Bud. And he retired.
Starting point is 00:16:09 Yep. And I don't feel like you ducking nobody. I see you, you start smiling at him. What so would kind of been. Oh, man. Is he good or is it hype? Because he looked mean. No, I think it's hype.
Starting point is 00:16:24 He's not like no skillful fighter. He's not, he don't know shit. Oh, no, he's not. His knowledge is limited. His game plan will be to just use size. Like use size and bully me or some shit. But like,
Starting point is 00:16:38 as far as knowledge and skill and all of the shit that I've been working on since fucking Yeha, he don't have that. He don't know what that is. So it's cool, fight, but it's levels. Let me tell you.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Levels. He always said, let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. I knew you was going to be something special. I seen a clip of you young. Yeah. You lost. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:04 The ladies interviewing you, you head to end up, but your passion was like. Cines. Yeah, I'm like, this thing, you know, this, he got a different type of, he's a different type of animal dog from a little, from a young and like that. It was so passionate to him, like,
Starting point is 00:17:21 he's going to be the chance. He's going to be one of them ones. Yeah, for sure. When it meant so much to you at that age, you knew what winning was. That's why you're here with you right now. Yeah. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:17:34 I felt something. You know, all the great ones. I'm going to live. You had, you walked a fighter out that I fought. And I remember I'm in the ring and your song came on. That shit came out. Why? I was nervous as hell.
Starting point is 00:17:53 I'm like, oh, this is how it was Jamel Henry. Oh, yeah. He walked out. And I forgot what song you play. I'm like, the arena went crazy. It didn't work out well. Nah, I was nervous. I'm like, oh, shit, they came out like.
Starting point is 00:18:09 So actually, that plays a part in the psyche. No, it don't really play a part. But at that moment, it felt like, damn, he kind of outdid me right now. You know, we're the first rapists to ever bring a boxer in the ring. Ever? Ever. Ever. Me and Big Pump, we brought out Felix Trinidad against Delaware.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Ever. Damn, I ain't even know that. And so we performed dead in the middle of little it, me and Big Pond. When we came out, we seen the eyes in that arena. They was like, yo, at the time, we're the most popping. We got the, you know, he's still my idol, Felix Trinidad. And man, what a fucking honor that shit was. They win?
Starting point is 00:18:52 Huh? Yeah, he beat. He beat Delaware. You know, Delaware do a lot of weird shit now, but he ain't ducked nobody, and he was a great champion. and so we got to salute him. But now he's like, you know, he's like all a gangster niggins.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Like I watched Instagram and all the gangster niggins I used to respect look crazy on the internet. And Instagram, you were like, yo, I thought this was the realest ever. The nigger looking like a dodo bird right now. I didn't feel bringing YFN Lucci out. Oh, no, it was amazing. I love that.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Because, like, his story and shit, like, I think it was more so like the respect level was kind of there. And I fuck with him actually. Yeah, he's fired. I like, I like, when I meet, like, like, people like, y'all, like, y'all famous, but y'all, like, level-headed. Right. Regular people, like, I'll have a conversation with y'all type shit.
Starting point is 00:19:40 I can't. What you mean? No, no, like, any nigger or girl that think they too much, I'm allergic. Yeah. If I go to, if I go Bruno Mars, exactly, Bruno Mars half Puerto Rican, when I went to him, I went up to the dick. Fuck Bruno, man. Fuck Bruno, me. All the flag.
Starting point is 00:20:02 Fuck, man. You touched the motherfucking nerve. I went up to him like, yo, we have a war show. I'm like, yo, you Puerto Rican. He was like, yo, I'm a real Puerto Rican. Don't never ask me no shit. My dad from Bushwick, this and that. He got up.
Starting point is 00:20:15 He definitely was high, like on some other shit. And I waited my whole life to meet Bruno Mars because he's half Puerto Rican. And that man let me down so bad. Yeah. And I seen Julie Greenwald. She tried to check me like, you know, he signed to them and she was like,
Starting point is 00:20:32 yo, Joe, I said, you know, that boy must have been on some shit because I'm telling you what he did. Yeah. I ain't going to get up here and tell you what Bruno Mars did and he ain't do it. That motherfucker, he bugged out. But, um...
Starting point is 00:20:48 Now, that's like, Lucci. Oh, Lucci was a good person. Like, like, y'all kind of remind me of like that energy. I don't do it. And if somebody full of shit and all that, I walked the other way. I look the other way. I don't even want to be on the honest.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Yeah, I don't fuck with them. So we go on an all-star weekend. We're going into the game and some celebrities who think, yo, I don't know what y'all think. Let me tell you something. We are human. Yeah. God is the greatest.
Starting point is 00:21:13 Yep. And, you know, if you like me, you came from shit. From nothing. Welfare. Rich. Right. So we can't, you can't tell me about my struggle and your struggle. All right, fine.
Starting point is 00:21:27 We all the same kind of people with you. I tell people all the time, I be like, Joe, you, you home. I'm like, how am I supposed to be? Yeah. Because I don't know how to be another way. I don't even like people like that. I don't like celebrities that treat people like shit. I don't like celebrities that think they better than everybody.
Starting point is 00:21:45 That shit, there is the biggest turnoff I've ever seen in the world. You'll be the most beautiful girl in the world. You think your shit, don't stink. Look, go over there. Don't come by this smelling great guy. Start coming to red. Yeah, what's up with them? This side war, Trumps.
Starting point is 00:22:04 Fire, fire, fire. No, it was a great collab, and I enjoyed doing business with them. I actually got to meet them. They came by the hotel, and they showed a lot of love. So I appreciate them, too. We put together a great fit for this fight. As the fights go on, I'm going to keep getting better with my fits and everything. Hopefully bring kiss out.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Oh, you want to come out now. You was fucking performer for Darren Grant. He didn't talk to me He got his ass knocked through the fucking rope He got his ass Knocked through the rope Fuck around Darren Grant
Starting point is 00:22:42 Let me tell you something Make it up, babe Nah, the man come out He got to come out with that shit You pussy, you think your cousins When you come out for him You got to do that one right there It's national TV
Starting point is 00:22:55 It's a fan Sky's straight Shout out my brother, Edgar Balanga. That's my brother right there. Man, that's my brother. He always tried to come out to my lifestyle and the TV always said he can't do it. I got a song called Y'all want to.
Starting point is 00:23:11 It's two gangster. Oh, and they won't let them? No, sir. Because you got to send the lyrics, right? No, sir. They won't let them. No, they wouldn't let him. They wouldn't let him.
Starting point is 00:23:20 He tried 20 fights to come out to my lifestyle. They'd be like, nah, we can't. It's too much killing and shit. Rex. It's egg of my dog, though. I ain't going to lie. That's my dog. How important is giving back to the community.
Starting point is 00:23:33 Shit, that shit, me. Everything, I enjoy, like, the kids that's, like, coming up in a situation that I'm coming up with. Like, for me, I had, like, bought tickets for them, man. They kind of got publicized. I usually don't do it. It's to do it. I don't have been doing this, like, for years and years. But now, for me, whereas, like, with the kids, it's, like, I just want to show them, like, it's possible.
Starting point is 00:23:58 And that's my main thing. I'm like, you come from nothing, you come from the slums, but you still can get out of that situation with hard work and dedication. And I try to show them me right there in front and see like, okay, yeah. This is hope. This is live. I'm not sure if he's a Hall of Famer, but Dave Winfield from the Yankees. Shout out Dave Winfield.
Starting point is 00:24:19 We used to get in Yankee Stadium with the Dave Winfield Foundation. I seen that man that was at a Jordan party in L.A., and I dove on his car. So, yo, Dave Winfield. He knew who I was to. He is a Hall of Famer. I dove on his car. Yo, I used to go to the Yankee game because he used to fuck his car. No.
Starting point is 00:24:38 But what I'm trying to tell you, we're talking about it was one of the most humbling things I ever did. Because I lost my mind. This man used to give us tickets to our community center to go to Yankee Stadium. For us, Yankee Stadium was like just winning, seeing green grad. The Bronx ain't got green grass. We got the brown shit. You go in Yankee Stadium, that shit. The bronze ain't got green.
Starting point is 00:25:02 Yeah, I don't got that same shit. The brown shit. You go in Yankee Stadium, that shit, green. It's a vibe in there. So, you know, shout out to all the athletes that do that. You know, it's crazy. I was just with the philanthropy team. I'm working on something really, really big.
Starting point is 00:25:18 And you know what's crazy is? Just now I was walking over here. I just met with the Mike Brinkley know. And I said to myself, walking over you, I said, this is why God bless you. Because you're always thinking about the community. You're always thinking about the people. And there is no price tag.
Starting point is 00:25:36 There is nothing. You know what I'm saying? If we could definitely help and feed people in our community and all that, that's the biggest thing you could do in the world. Yeah, that was my thing with it too. It's like I never really had nobody to come back to Nook and like stand in front of me and see like, like I always heard of like, and this is. no disrespect to Shaq. I fuck with Shaq. He's from Newark. But I always heard about
Starting point is 00:26:01 Shaq being from North. And I heard about his, I used to go to his movie theater and all that shit. But I never really got to see him like, up close. And personally, yeah. Personal to be like, okay, it's possible. Like, I could keep doing what I'm doing. But now for me, it's like, shit, I got to do that for the kids. Like, I got to. Like, that's my main objective in life. Like, let them know, like, you could get up out of there. Like, and that's where it's at. You know, you pass away Garville in 150 years from you. And the past is going to say all your achievements in the ring, but they're really going to talk about how you help the people.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Yeah. motivate the people, give back to the people. They're not going to say, yo, yeah, the Rose Royce. They're not going to talk all that shit. Yeah. They're going to talk about what you do for the people, how you inspired the community, how you helped the people, how you gave back. That, that right there to me is everything. You know, I've been doing that. I've been rapping, what, 30-something years? A little bit longer. I've been doing this for a while. And whether it's a little thing like giving computers to school or giving whatever, I lend the hand in all the time.

Starting point is 00:27:35 He's nice. I swear to God. But he introduced me to pickleball in. When he introduced it to me, I'm like, it's a height. And then I kept playing. I'm like, man, I got to get better at this shit. I don't like how he's better than me. Like, he olden.
Starting point is 00:27:50 He's way better than me. He's way better than me. That's like the fluid. I kind of got like a little obsessive about it. Starting point is 00:30:26 Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special.
Starting point is 00:30:41 So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. the four Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:00 I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
Starting point is 00:31:13 But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guide. Not quite. The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis, and I know firsthand because I competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast,
Starting point is 00:32:03 I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris. Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay. Jenchian win. I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lina Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world. right now and I actually can win on any surface because if she's serving well good luck.
Starting point is 00:32:28 Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
Starting point is 00:33:02 I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. How do you get tight with Jay Prince coming from Newark and he's from out in Texas? Really, Andre Ward. Because you know, Andre Ward. Andre Ward was my favorite boxer, so I used to own.
Starting point is 00:33:25 go to his training camps and shit but he was managing I mean, Jay Prince was managing Andre Ward at the time and I met him through him but then it's another guy Antonio Leonard that's like my family now and he introduced me to Jay
Starting point is 00:33:39 Ferreferra like outside of Oakland, we went to Houston and I met him in the club and I got actually yo, it's crazy. I probably was like what 17, 18 I'm not supposed to be in the club
Starting point is 00:33:52 but I go through there and they like shit, you're good. You're with Jay Prince and they take me to a back room and shit. He in the back plane of pool with one hand. I'm seeing this, he's cool as hell and shit. But then I just got to conversate with him. As I got to meet him more and more, like he's a real nigger.
Starting point is 00:34:14 That's a real nigger. I'll fuck with that nigger. He sure is. That's my family for real. He's a legend. He's super real. He opened many doors and he got his own. Island. Oh, yeah, I don't
Starting point is 00:34:26 for sure I don't been there. I'm, I use you, I tell them all the time, I don't get jealous. Yeah. I get a spy. For sure. So when people that look like us get to certain levels, I look at that like, I tell you the truth. I'm going to admit something. I don't know
Starting point is 00:34:43 if I could have it on the island. That's, you're owning the ludicrous on the island too. Yeah, that thing is. I see the bad All-Star. He said, man, you're always blowing me up with my, he on the island. How are you on the island? Jay Prince on the island, man.
Starting point is 00:34:59 Yeah. That's crazy, though. Like, think about it. I don't, I own a lot of things. I don't know. God willing, God bless. I don't know if I'm on an island. Like, an island is like, that's crazy.
Starting point is 00:35:14 No, for sure. Boxes, you said, Andre Ward inspired you. Who's some other boxes that inspired you? And they ain't got to be your way of fighting. just boxes that you always looked up to. Floyd Mayweather, Terrence Crawford, Penel Whitaker,
Starting point is 00:35:34 Siguray Leonard. Man, I fuck with Ussick. I like Ussick right now. Like Ussick Bevore. I like them overseas dudes. They kind of know boxing at a different level kind of shit. You know, I'm the Tyson Fury of hip-hop. You know, I'm the Tyson.
Starting point is 00:35:51 Oh, yeah, Tyson. You know, I ain't got no muscles. Dude, I knock you out. Like, don't play with me. See, the biggest misconception with Fat Joe is, he's Fat Joe, you think he's going to bear hug. You know, I'm coming with the fluidity. I'm coming with that ditty bop on you.
Starting point is 00:36:09 Boy, I'm like a fat skinny guy. I'm not going to grab you. We're just going to go pound for pound toe to toe. Anybody touched the canvas? You lost. So you got hands. I used to have hands. I'm not going to front like I got hands now.
Starting point is 00:36:23 I had hands. He got a bad leg. We go, we go, we go, we go project against project. Yeah. Okay. The home. Project against project. They say, bring out your best guy.
Starting point is 00:36:36 I'm not lying to you. They bring out fat Joe. And then they bring out some cock diesel guy from the other project. I was like, yo, I'm just fat. Why got to fight this guy? Your motherfucker six backed up, really. I got him every time. Let me tell you, I had that fluidity.
Starting point is 00:36:53 He was undefeated. Huh? You was undefeated? No, I got my ass whip a million times. Are you crazy? But that's why I don't want to stand. Right? I don't understand.
Starting point is 00:37:02 I knew this guy. He's breaking. Gangster guy. Huh? Talking to two-timellas. Let me tell you, I'm a street guy. Yeah. Right?
Starting point is 00:37:10 Real street guy. Respected by the legends in the street. Only thing I did was rap. Right? And there's some guys that people respected. And they were gangsters. Did a little turn. whatever, and they was running around here, like, they tough.
Starting point is 00:37:27 They got their ass whip one time and never came back outside. I don't know what that happens. I used to come outside every day with black eyes, big nose, big, I don't give a fuck. These guys retired, like, so-called, like, so-called tough guys, like, acting like, you know who you are. You got your ass whip. You ain't come back outside. You pussy. Nah, we can't.
Starting point is 00:37:48 We make it too many legends out there because you're making me call bum niggas out and giving them a name in the street. You know, you know, niggas is famous for getting their ass with by Fat Joe, too. You walk in, bridge player there. There's places, look, I love all of you. I respect all the legends, all the street guys. But there's places where the old school street guys go. You know, it's like cheers. With, yo, this is Stocka 147.
Starting point is 00:38:15 This is the God Jain. Still to the stay, there's bars that you could go. And everybody who has something going on, go. any given Sunday you walk in there and be like, yo, that's Andy, the guy fat Joe beat the shit out of and he breast charges on him. There's always one. And every one of those joints, you walk in,
Starting point is 00:38:33 Rich player walked in, it was like, yo, don't look now. Guy who told on Joey when he beat him up, you know, that was 30 years ago, Rich. Please don't stare at them, this, this, that. You know, those people, you beat up. And, you know, they become legends because you beat them up. Who's the toughest fighter you ever fought?
Starting point is 00:38:50 Toughest fighter I ever fought. probably of Williams the Pater, William's the Pater. The Mexican that I fought on the car with Eger, that night, yeah, dude. Yeah, I see. He was fighting you. Dude was tough. I ain't going to lie. That was a tough fight.
Starting point is 00:39:09 He was willing to do whatever it took to win a fight. So, hello? That let me know, like, yeah, you was tough. But, I mean, I dominated, but shit. It was me. Other niggas there, feel. feel that nigga. Like, they're going to understand that that nigga,
Starting point is 00:39:25 he's a real gangster. Like, no bullshit. He coming in there. He's stepping. I don't care who it is. He coming with that shit. What's the next outside the ring for you? Outside the ring?
Starting point is 00:39:40 No, I'll be messing with my young fighters. So shout out to Zayquin Moses and the Manuel Chants. My little cousin and them there, not my little blood brother, but like my little brother, but they fight in April. And that's going to be next. That's what I'm really going to be focused on helping them get ready for their fights
Starting point is 00:40:01 and making sure they well prepared that night. Oh, that's fine. I met Tank, like he was 12. He was down with Floyd Mayweather. Yeah. He was a baby. Yeah. And he was like, yo, this going to be the one that's going to be the one.
Starting point is 00:40:14 And he mentored him up to, you know, he became a man. You know, why are you looking at me like that, Jada? I'm just looking at you, my brother. This guy, he's a funny dude, bro. Let me tell you something. So that was your toughest fight. Is there any records you're out to break? Is there anything that you got your eye on,
Starting point is 00:40:38 that you're like, yo, I got to have that. That's something I need to do. They fucked up what I really could have did, but I was going to have two belts and one weight class. And I wanted to be able to, like, go really do what I wanted. But they stripped me out of my belt at 135 pounds, really for no reason. But like a money is. That's like some fake extortion shit going on with you.
Starting point is 00:41:05 Yeah, it is. It is. It is. It is like. Break that down. Both of you all break it down because I'm confused. When you win the belt. I got to learn.
Starting point is 00:41:14 I'm trying to learn. When you win the belt, you got to pay to be able to keep your belt. So I paid them But didn't keep one more Yeah yeah no What they did to me is fucked up Because when I fought Williams A paid her for the 135 title
Starting point is 00:41:30 I paid them after the fight After that I got moved up for the Tia Fimo fight At 140 pounds They belt don't got nothing to do with that fight But they're asking me for double Or what I paid them after my last fight For me to go up to 140 pounds
Starting point is 00:41:48 And keep my belt I got to pay double. That shit don't need. But they really got mad at Terrence Carford. He's supposed. They had a real beef with them and then they tried to take it out on me. But I really don't even like speaking on that shit.
Starting point is 00:42:01 It is what it is. Yeah, yeah. It's similar to the Hollywood Walker Fink breaking news, guys. I hate to tell you, you pay for that, guys. You request, can I get the star? You pay. I don't know the fence.
Starting point is 00:42:13 I don't know the father shots. No. You know when you get a scarf. You don't, it ain't like you won the Grammy. Yeah. You copped it. You didn't know that. You didn't know that.
Starting point is 00:42:21 You didn't know that. You got to pay a housekeeper. And keep your shit up the park. You can't come through and sign your own star for no reason. Yeah. By the way, you buy that shit. So when they be like, oh, I'm surprised. How did I ever win this car?
Starting point is 00:42:39 And you got to pay more taxes on. Hell not. They're going to get mad at me. Because it ain't like you pull up. You know, you pull up and you be like, oh, my God. They want to, they be acting like that. Let's go half on one.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Fuck that. Does somebody want to sponsor my star out there? Let's go half on the star. On the Joe and Jeter star, can someone, you know we're legendary, by the way. I don't know if you know fuck rap. You need a star. This show right here is killing these people. Like, they want to commit suicide.
Starting point is 00:43:12 We should hand out Razorblazers, sign-nigh to the other podcasters. They're getting their ass with. This shit is turn key. We opened the door and now, look, Shokor, season A-Saf Ferg was just on. Dr. Jay was on the game. It's nowhere we, it's standing room only. In fact, we have a list of people we love and we respect.
Starting point is 00:43:33 Right. I heard other podcasts and say, yo, it's hard to get, well, we don't. We have a list of A1 celebrity standing by. Like, put me in, coach. Put me in the game. And me and him got a, yeah, all right. He's cool.
Starting point is 00:43:48 I only heard him say one time. Hell no. And that was my man, too. I ain't going to say. You want me to say it? You want me to say it? Oh, you don't want me to say it. That motherfucker was like, hell no.
Starting point is 00:44:02 I was almost like, oh, my God. What did he do to kiss? It was a rapper. Yeah. Then he's just like, he's not coming on. I said, whoa. I said, damn, kiss ain't fucking with him. Let me just chill.
Starting point is 00:44:16 I guess it's. No, Kelly's great. We got to give her a prop. She just left. No, Kelly. No, like... No, he's not being realistic. And listen, let me tell you something.
Starting point is 00:44:34 I'm proud of everybody on this staff and the contributions y'all bring to the game. Because if me and kids just did this on our own, we definitely wouldn't have had this kind of fluidity. No matter what, we could have hired cameraman. We could have dissed this, whatever. But the way that shit, shit coming in, like I said, turnkey.
Starting point is 00:44:52 These guys, this, at first they was trying to compete. Now they're like, yo, let them have it. This shit out of control. Like these guys, we might bring the Pope on this shit. This shit out of control right here. Like, well, you was with Obama, so you're going to make that happen first.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Let me tell you about the Obama. Okay? Obama don't know how many Spanish people I may vote for Obama before he was famous. Okay, when Obama's coming I'm out there in every Spanish community. Both up on Obama, Obama,
Starting point is 00:45:26 want to be on, this, this. I went beyond, beyond. He will ever know trying to get the Spanish, the Latino community to vote for him. I know his wife I met her ten times. I never met Obama. I wanted,
Starting point is 00:45:43 if you go to any rich person's house, I don't give a fuck who. The real rich, the minute you walk in, they got Ronald Reagan, they got Trump, they got Clinton, they got the, that's the biggest flex in any 20 million plus mansion, they got a president picture with them right there. I got a bunch of president. I got Bill Clinton with the T.S. is on.
Starting point is 00:46:09 He's in a little bit of island scandal. Yeah. But we're chilling. We took him off the war for now, right? Yo, yo, yo, yo. Yo, yo, yo! But Obama always went at that pick. The moral to the story is, I ain't going to lie to you.
Starting point is 00:46:25 Puerto Rican's really black. Maybe Puerto Ricans are all black. I'll break that down to you. That's the fact is just black people that speak Spanish. See, Paul Mooney said the best. Google this clip. Paul Mooney said they really niggas that talks, man. That's all it is.
Starting point is 00:46:39 For sure. It's it. And so I go up to, I said, when I'm checking in, they go, Obama ain't in there. I don't give a fuck if they had 500 I was getting that pick with Obama I don't give
Starting point is 00:46:55 a fuck I don't know nothing I just had to walk up with the fluidity the secret service all the niggas moved out the way like hey Joe how are you I said yes
Starting point is 00:47:04 Mr. President his wife embraced me yo he's our guy fat Joe I don't I don't even know Obama knew who fat Joe was like that Miss Obama was putting in like yo he's our guy
Starting point is 00:47:15 right Thank you, Miss Obama. Y'all, let's take a pig. By the time I turned around, Obama kept trying to smile for a pick. Every basketball seven-footer was jumping right away. Hey, Mr. President? Hey, I mean, it was their shit.
Starting point is 00:47:31 About 10 of them, it turned into British players. I had to, like, start like, you're my man. If y'all don't move the fuck out the way, like, we got to get this pick. It was only a second before the secret service. Like, yo, enough enough. And I wasn't going to get my pick. Every seven-foot
Starting point is 00:47:46 jumped in front of me Like I was like Yo, what type of shit Everybody wanted that joy But I got it I got it You know what I'm saying I waited 20 years for that
Starting point is 00:47:56 But I was definitely going straight In that Oh Garcia versus Badiot He's looking Like he's back in his bag A little right Yeah tell him
Starting point is 00:48:07 Get in this bag So we can fight And you want to fight him I want to fight him You name him I fight him So yeah I think we can make a fight happen.
Starting point is 00:48:16 I think that might be next. But Ryan... People would love to see that. Man, it's the same fucking shit that y'all already know. Take away the fucking left hook. You take away his left hook, he's cooked. Move this way.
Starting point is 00:48:31 Just take it away. You know, last time I had to fucking dude up, I say, yo. Yo. I'm talking shit. Ryan Garcia. And my man, let me ask you the question. Let me ask you the question.
Starting point is 00:48:45 Right. what's my man and I'm a fan age, right? You guys know his name. I'm a, you know, I don't know shit, man. What the fuck is your problem? You know, I'll explain them and you'll tell me who, but I know him. Devin Haynes, right? Ever since he got touched, he been fighting scared.
Starting point is 00:49:08 That is not a lie. That is not none. He's still so talented to beat these guys, but he's been fighting. somebody rung his bell to where the man not the same. He's not the same after, even though he won the belt, even though he won the last two, three fights, even though this, he's fighting scared. I don't like that.
Starting point is 00:49:30 I don't, look, what do you think about Devin Haney? I think that a scared man is a man that's kind of hard to beat sometimes. Because when they're scared, they scariness can help them out in the ring. So, I mean, I think he's a scared. He's a solid fighter. He's not a bad fighter, so he definitely knows what he's doing. His dad going to make sure he comes in shape.
Starting point is 00:49:54 So if they want to make it happen, I'm down. But I'm no fuck. Oh, shit. I didn't know we was out here brokering fights. All right. Yo, Devin, ain't he. What's up? Hard Rock Bet.
Starting point is 00:50:05 Yo, Devin ain't it. But it got to be called out, beloved. It got to make sense. So long as the business and everything makes sense with it, we can make the fire. Now I don't respect you. answer because I think you want to fight him for the big payday. No, it ain't, it ain't the payday.
Starting point is 00:50:20 He's scared of death. At the end of the day, me and him is not at the same weight class. So it got to make sense. I would have to go up. You got to come down. Well, really, because now people kind of
Starting point is 00:50:32 overrate that big fights need belts. And big fights don't need belts. Sometimes you can meet in the middle, so. I would love to see that. Camalo and Floyd. I respect that fight. Cannello and Floyd, they fought at 152.
Starting point is 00:50:47 Music, what music motivates you? Give me a little five playlist. It ain't got to be the greatest of all time. You in the locker room. You getting ready for prime time. I don't give a fuck what they say. They big on MMA. They acted like boxing fell off.
Starting point is 00:51:03 Hell no. When boxing got a fight is must-see TV. Every barn, every bar, every gym. I don't give a fuck. Where are you at? You watching that shit. As much as you try to. disc boxing.
Starting point is 00:51:17 What are you playing in your headphones on your locker room? I'm probably playing like some meek or probably some 50. Oh, Jay-Z. Tupac. Kiss.
Starting point is 00:51:36 Heard. I'll be going to do different kind of music. Last time I knocked the dick out out of I was playing Norrie. What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? We're driving up to the one-on-one. What? What? What? Yo, I told us, I had to fight a guy. He was on America's Most Wanted. So we had to...
Starting point is 00:52:00 Man, go on. He's not lying. He's not lying. He's not lying. I got a hundred... He's telling it. There's no flag. It's real shit. He was on America's most wanted. That Joe out of shape had to fight this guy to eliminate. the, you know, the real, you know what I'm saying? So it was like, yo, you got to fight him. The guy was conned, these and went shape and everything. Man, I pulled up with that. You fucking with Joe crack, man. I don't want to violate because he was the perfect gentleman about it.
Starting point is 00:52:31 My God. He was a perfect gentleman about it, but I pulled up. He saw a rich lately and he said, yo, man, I like he didn't say my name. He texted me. But you know what it takes to fight a guy on America's Most Wanted and you're a famous rapper. Yeah. Imagine that I got my ass with.
Starting point is 00:52:49 That shit would have went beyond vibe. You would have been on America. You knocked them up? I beat them up bad. Like bad. It was just my fluidity was a little bit, you know. But I thought I was going to lose. How about that?
Starting point is 00:53:06 Oh, yeah, that's how I go. I come from my brother, anybody. I know we too old for somebody who grew up with us. No, I wasn't. I'm never scared. Ever, ever, ever, ever. One time I had an argument with a promoter in, in Paris, and he brought in like 10 African dudes.
Starting point is 00:53:26 They locked the door. Like, I'm locked up. I got up and was like, yo, let's get it. My DJ always told me that story. He said, yo, crack. The dudes came up in there with the gloves and all that. And all I remember is you got up and you was like, yo, so what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:53:41 Let's get it popping in this bitch. I've been fighting my whole life. The point is, I thought he was going to win because he's in perfect shape. I'm really fat, fat joke. But I come from watching my brother and my brother, I got a story for y'all. The Golden God.
Starting point is 00:53:57 Why can't tell a story? You got to finish this one. I come from whoever gets knocked out gets knocked out. So I stand toe to toe, you knock me out, nothing I could do. Congratulations. I knock you out. It is what it.
Starting point is 00:54:11 That's it. That's it. I used to watch my brother fight guys toe to toe. Whoever got knocked out got knocked out. It wasn't no bullshit. I'll tell you a funny story. So nobody believes me, right? Nobody believes me.
Starting point is 00:54:27 I keep trying to tell them. We was the wildest kids in our age group, but we had no money. So the kingpins at the time, before I became kingpin, kingpins at the time, used to come and get fat, Joey, to beat up the guys they had beef with.
Starting point is 00:54:44 So they'll come and be like, yo, we got a Pellet for you. We got three paired Jordans. We need you to put it on these guys, right? So this one Kingpin who was like ahead of his time, he used to wear Hermes, boots, all type of shit. He'd come get me, he said, yo, Joe, I got a problem.
Starting point is 00:55:00 I'm going to buy you a Pellet. I was a cheap hire, too. It was like three-pared Jordans, a Pelle. Come on. And I never cared. I really never cared about human I really didn't care, right? So I'm with him.
Starting point is 00:55:15 I go over, and I'm going to tell you to have, y'all. It was 182nd in Creston. And little did I know. No, no, big dope. So I go over there, he started arguing with the guy. Now, sometimes, no matter how kingpin, or matter how much dude you killed, my man, Stacey and Jail still for 37 years,
Starting point is 00:55:37 because they knew he was a killer, but they fronted on him in this building, and there was a he couldn't take it. So he went over there, emptying it out on his own hood. Sometimes you don't want to do that to the guys you grew up with and they take advantage of that. So I go over there and I'm like, this guy's such a kingpin. I'm like, yeah, he can just kill this guy.
Starting point is 00:55:55 Like, why is he even arguing with him? But he's from that block. So the guy's talking to him. The guy don't even think about me. He's not even looking my way. He's like, yo, this, this, this, that arguing with him. And I punched that guy in his chin so hard. He went up.
Starting point is 00:56:10 Fluidity on. the floor over the bike, boom. Right? I'm like, I'm flubby fat Joe. I'm like this. He fall over the bike. I knock him out. Lucky. I'm going to give it to y'all now. One of the second in Christ. I'm breaking the myth. Hold up. Lucky I knock him out. So the guy I go with is pushing me. Like, Joe, let's go. Joe, let's go. He's taking me to the concourse and I'm still trying to front.
Starting point is 00:56:37 He's like, let's go. He throw me in the cab. I get out of it. Little do I know that this guy was four-time Golden Glove champ, the guy I knocked out. And the man for 20 years been sending me, I mean, he's old now but he was sending me messages to tell Fat Joey
Starting point is 00:56:54 he owed me the fair one. Tell Fat Joe he'll be throw his shit up? No, I snuffed him. Oh, you got a blindsided, cheated, whatever the fuck you want. Over there, they was like, in his hut, Yo, but Fat Joe got his.
Starting point is 00:57:10 He knocked out. Doc for 137. The man is a four-time. Fat Joe. All squared up one-on-one. They were telling you. I got a question for y'all. He begged every human being that knew me for 20 years.
Starting point is 00:57:22 Like, please. I got a question for y'all. Do y'all still be going to the studio nowadays? Like, he does. He's all right now. He's there every day. I'm going on after this. Okay.
Starting point is 00:57:32 Nah, I just was asking because I know, like, once I'm done boxing, I don't know if it's going to be, like, hard and shit to, like, stay out of the gym. Like, no, you're going to go. This is their lifestyle. It's a lifestyle, yeah. You know, bust around stay in the fucking studio every day for the rest of his life.
Starting point is 00:57:49 I don't know how to explain it to you. Yeah. The studio is $3,000 a night. Shit like that. You don't own your own studio. Yeah. You got his own studio. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:01 Junk that shit. There's got a fireplace, you know what, in it. Yeah, yeah. I don't have a studio. The next generation or like, yeah, yeah, yeah. I hope, though. Actually, in the work to do, one of the labels wanted me to start, you know, developing some of the young talents.
Starting point is 00:58:20 Yeah. I think that's the smartest shit. The job on my portfolio about that. I think that will be great. Yeah. You know, you get them to kick that shit. Yo, we appreciate you, brother. This ain't that?
Starting point is 00:58:33 That ain't this. It's cracking kiss. Make some noise for you called Stevenson, baby. Bye, y'all, Marty. The face of boxing. Jersey and the Belas. Shout out to Nor. Shout out to H-Town, too.

Starting point is 00:59:16 We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
