Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, guys?
This is Clivert Taylor the Fourth.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents soccer moms.
So I'm Leanne.
Yeah.
This is my best friend, Janet.
Hey.
And we have been joined at the hip since high school.
Absolutely.
A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip.
Just a little bit bigger.
hips. This is a podcast we're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my
Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer?
Oh, they hit a bogo. Well, then you got it. Listen to soccer moms on the Iheart radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Herd podcast.

Heard.
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Ah, here we go on a loaded Tuesday.
Man, we are packed today.
This is The Heard, wherever you may be,
and however, you may be listening.
We're on IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1.
We are packed today.
I love, you know, at this time of the year,
everybody complains, I hear everybody lamenting,
there's nothing going on in sports.
It is jammed.
Last night, we almost have.
We could have had a near fatal accident in NASCAR.
Thank God.
Ryan's okay.
Ryan Newman.
It was a riveting race down to the end.
We got a baseball controversy.
Joy Taylor is joining me.
You get so many emotional things.
We got the NBA's off for a couple days.
It's the only thing I don't like about LeBron,
he made the All-Star break longer.
Come on, let's go.
I need games.
Well, I mean, there's still a few little NBA stories out there.
We're going to talk a little NBA today.
So let me start this.
Can your career be over before it starts?
I think it's possible with Joe Burrow.
So as a dad, and every dad listening is going to either, they're going to laugh when I say this because they know it's true.
The truest answer is always the shortest from your kids.
The more they start ad-libbing about what happened to the cookie, what happened to the food in the refrigerator, the more they start ad-living, they're making stuff up.
The truest answer is, I didn't do it or I did do it.
So whenever I see a politician or a kid or a boss or a talk show host, you know, cornered,
a little bit. Give me the truth and they extend
their answer and they use words over
and over. It's like because they don't have an honest
answer. So Joe Burrow
is winning a bunch of awards, right? And he's at these
awards, the Davey O'Brien Award, and they ask him
about Cincinnati. And instead of just
saying, can't wait to be drafted by
the Bengals, I mean, he's a Ohio kid, right?
He grew up watching the Bengals.
He was asked about the Bengals and his
answer. He uses the word process
a lot. This is a long
process, right? And
they have their process.
that they have to go through. And so I'm just blessed to be in the position that I'm in.
If they select me, they select me.
He says, look, this is a long process. They have their process. Later in the bite, he says,
it's a long process. A lot of people say a lot of things. He also has a quote,
I do have some leverage. Why would leverage matter if you're going to the Bengals?
Listen, Joe Burroughs smart. His dad's a coach. His dad was smart. There's four organizations,
maybe five, but mostly four, that are poorly run. Washington, Cleverro,
Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Detroit.
Matt Stafford's career has been affected.
There is no question he would be better in a better organization.
The Bengals don't have a playoff win since 1990 in Boomer Ossison.
It was so long ago that team they beat the Houston Oilers doesn't exist.
It is hard not to stumble into a playoff win, I don't know, in two decades.
Don't you just kind of stumble into it?
You get a lucky break.
Your schedule works out.
Your rival in the division has injuries.
Cincinnati's poorly run.
If Burrow signs, he is locked for seven years.
It's over.
It's over.
Drew Breeze is rare.
Drew Breeze is one of the only quarterbacks in league history that got a reboot and turn
his career around.
Steve Barkowski and Carson Palmer were both drafted by bad organizations.
Steve Barkowski came out this week.
I remember him.
He played at Cal.
He was the good-looking golden arm, played at Cal, went to lousy Atlanta.
Atlanta at the time was lousy.
It ruined his career.
He said this week he goes, I spent more time in the hospital than I actually did.
He should pull an Eli Manning, said Bartkowski.
I know what it's like to go to a bottom feeder.
I spent more time at a hospital recuperating from injuries my first three years than I did
throwing touchdowns.
It was tough.
Cincinnati's got a bad online.
They have an 84-year-old cheap owner who acts as a GM.
They have the smallest scouting department.
I don't know if Zach Taylor can coach.
I hope he can.
I think he may be able to, but I don't know.
They didn't look brilliantly coached last year.
And that division has got nothing but good defenses.
And Joe Burrell's going to get eaten alive.
This is tough, man.
This is a real decision.
It's not like this in baseball.
It's not like this in the NBA.
If you get drafted as a quarterback in the NFL and they like you,
you are trapped for seven years.
They can franchise you.
And again, and transition tag you.
You're trapped.
It's a real decision.
Carson Palmer played for the,
the Bengals. He came on speak for yourself about a month ago in Miami and said this.
I mean, if you just look at the history of the organization, they've successfully been very
unsuccessful throughout their entirety. So I took my stance with the organization back when I did
for a reason, and I felt like it was time for me to move on. Yeah. By the way, Joe Burrow is
being coached now by Jordan Palmer, Carson Palmer's brother.
So this is very real.
I have said this.
Two is going to have a better career than Joe Burrow.
Why?
Because of where he lands.
Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson,
are going to have better careers probably than Baker, Mayfield, and Sam Donald
because of where they land.
You get trapped.
This is real stuff here.
It's why I believe Joe Burrell has to push back.
As long as this ownership group is in place,
it's a cheap franchise, it's dysfunctional.
And if you look at the four or five teams,
that don't win playoff games in this league, they all have one thing in common.
Bad owners.
Washington, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit, bad owners.
Joe Burrell, this is serious.
It's time to make a tough decision.
I'll say it again.
I think he should pull an Lway.
I think he should pull an Eli.
Okay.
Recency bias is a very, very powerful thing.
The latest thing that happens is always the worst.
You go to social media.
The world's ending every 15 minutes.
Justin Turner plays for the Dodgers.
He's a very good baseball player.
He's fun to watch.
He's scrappy.
He's likable.
He's relatable.
He doesn't like that his Dodgers, he felt, got cheated by the Astros and their sign stealing.
We know now the Astros did steal signs to the degree we're not quite sure.
But their GM lost a job.
Their manager lost a job.
And they lost four valuable draft picks.
We'll see if suspensions come sooner or later.
But here was Justin Turner yesterday, ripping the Astros and lamenting the sport and the commissioner, Rob Madren, for not handing out stiffer penalties.
Talking about precedent, talking about there's never been a precedent.
It's because it's never happened before.
It's the first time in the game, to my knowledge, that this has happened.
And he just set the precedent.
He set a weak precedent.
The reason every guy is in this room, the reason every guy is working out all off.
season and showing up to camp early and putting in all the time and effort is specifically for
that trophy, which, by the way, is called the commissioner's trophy. So for him to devalue it,
the way he did yesterday, it just tells me how out of touch he is with the players in this game.
And, you know, at this point, the only thing devaluing that trophy is that it says commissioner on it.
All right, let's settle down. A, Major League Baseball is going to be fine.
FIFA and the World Cup have been riddled.
riddled with corruption. The Olympics and the IOC have been riddled with corruption. They've
never been more valuable. Ever. Bidding wars for Olympics. Bidding wars for the World Cup.
Commercials are going for a million dollars for a 30-second spot. NBC makes a fortune on the
Olympics. Fox does real good on the World Cup, and if both were on the open market, there'd be
bidders from almost every network. They're valuable content. Ratings will go up for baseball this
year. We now have a second villain. The Yankees and the Astros. The Yankees outbid everybody for
Garrett Cole. They're the evil empire. Now we have a second. Hollywood writes scripts like this.
There'll be spring training records for people wanting to watch the Astros get plunked.
They're villains. We now have a second villain in the sport. Revenues, relevance. Baseball has
never been this relevant a week out of spring training. I've never talked as much baseball.
What about the kids?
I saw a quote here by Justin Turner.
What about the kids?
We're trying to inspire those kids to want to be baseball players.
Yeah, I'm sure they'll all quit Little League over this.
What about the kids?
Don't worry about the kids.
Adults can be schmucks.
Kids are wonderful.
I got kids, six of them.
They're great.
I'm never disappointed in my kids.
I'm disappointed in my neighbors, in adults, in people I've worked with.
I'm disappointed in adults on Twitter every 15 minutes.
I want to strangle somebody.
I'm never disappointed in kids.
Kids see images all the time.
Do they become porn stars because they occasionally go to porn hub?
No, they're kids.
They figured out.
They'll handle it.
Kids are fine.
They see horrible images all the time by adults.
And they go, ooh, creepy adult.
I don't want to do that.
Kids are fine.
Don't worry about the sport.
And C, Major League Baseball was to the steroid era.
This is a recency bias.
Everything that happens now is the worst.
I'm an old guy.
Let me give this context.
For 15 years, baseball's best players and some other average ones were taking jobs.
Guys who were AAA lifers suddenly became big leaguers and clean guys in the big leagues lost their careers.
You don't think that's worse than that than this?
It was 15 years of it.
If you go back to 1994 through about 2010, the 15-year heart of the steroid era, you know who won?
The Yankees won five titles.
You wanted to play small ball?
You couldn't.
You got squished.
The Red Sox were cheating.
Two titles.
The Texas Rangers, three, four and five hitters, were taking cattle steroids.
They were winning MVP's every year.
And they would have won World Series, except they couldn't get past the Red Sox and the Yankees who had more talented cheaters.
And then steroids got cleaned out.
You know what happened?
You could win small ball.
The San Francisco Giants started winning situationally with small ball.
You couldn't do that during the steroid era.
The smartest people in baseball were getting charged.
trumped by cattle steroids.
Now, the Kansas City Royals in the last decade won with their bullpen.
You can win situationally.
You can win with small ball.
You can say what you want about the Astros, but they won basically through the draft.
They just nailed about six draft picks.
You couldn't do that with the steroid era.
People lost jobs.
Offensive records were smashed.
Series were changed.
Losers became winners.
And in a sport with no salary cap, who benefited?
teams like the Yankees and the Red Sox and the Rangers that were massive payroll teams
because if he gave steroids to a 240 hitter, he hits 290.
But if he gives steroids to a star who hits 308, he hits 350 and you can't get him out.
I mean, the last time the Padres won was in the steroid era.
It's not in the Stealing Signs era.
They had Ken Kamedity and Greg Vaughn.
They won.
The Padres won.
It could take average teams and make them great.
It was affecting every stat, every game, every series.
every number. Guys were hitting 58 jacks, 140 RBI, batting 340, you couldn't get him out.
Guys were Superman. This is a team that did bad things. Basically, we've been stealing signs
forever in baseball. They made it a little more industrial, should we say. And I don't like it.
And they lost draft picks. And they should have some suspensions. And Manfred should probably
find more guys. But taken away trophies? This is recent.
bias. The most recent controversy, the world's going to end. FIFA. World Cup's never been stronger. IOC.
Olympics have never made more money. The NBA, the ratings are down. So what? If the NBA was on the
open market, this network and every network would bid on it. It's good entertaining content.
Take a deep breath. The kids are okay. Baseball's okay. And we got a second villain. I don't have to
like everybody in sports. I don't like Floyd Maywe.
but I pay to watch him fight because I can separate art from artist.
Baseball's fine.
Go back to your regularly scheduled lives.
All right.
Coming up next.
Oh, Joy's going to have quite a story.
Yes, I do.
I'm not even going to give it away.
Journalism!
We got ranting in journalism.
Coming up next.

Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying
jag at a time.
You ladies know what I mean.
I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do.
So let's talk about it.
Join me on my new podcast.
How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood
as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS.
All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like, what the hell is that?
I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Wait, what sex?
Dating at 45.
How high can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy?
That one's kind of hard.
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter,
and dive into it unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.

Make 2020 your year, start a new life as an IT pro and as little as four months.
Go to my computer career.edu.
Yeah, the other thing about steroids, Joy, and I was really in the heart of my sportscasting
career when it exploded. It was in the mid-90s.
You know, and I'm really starting to, you know, making it.
name for myself. It never went away. This Astros thing will last three months. Boom,
done. Story next. It'll be fun to watch how people throw at the Astro players, right?
The steroid thing lasted for 15 years. You thought it was over? They had the Mitchell report.
It wouldn't go away. It literally, they're doing documentaries that just came out last year by
Billy Corbyn. It never left. This thing is going to be like, ooh, bad Astros, throw out
them, beat them, fine them, boom, done, over. And it'll be over. Like, problems are always worse
when they don't go away. Like, it's one thing if you get a divorce in life. All right.
Boom. It'd be worse if you keep fighting for 10 years in court. That adds a dimension and a layer to the angst of a divorce. That's why. Break it off. Be good people. Move on. Start your new lives. Treat the kids well in a divorce. That's the way to do it, right? You start fighting over furniture. You're in it for seven years and everybody hates everybody. You bring down your kids. You bring down her. You bring down you. You bring down friends. You separate family. The astro thing is going to be ugly. Suspensions, fines, move on. We'll watch a little this year.
they won't win a bunch of games and we'll watch the Yankees,
the Dodgers end up in the World Series and we'll be fine.
The steroid thing was 15 years.
It wouldn't go away.
You thought it was dead.
Two years later, Mitchell Report.
You had to talk about it again.
So it's going to be fine.
It's a judgment of sins too, right?
Like which cheating is worse.
That's like saying bank robbery or assault.
Will you both end up in the Grey Bar Motel?
What's it matter?
You're in prison either one.
You're in jail either one.
What do I, you know.
And he didn't take away those.
Yeah.
So it's like they cheated.
Steroid era was 15 years of cheating.
Joy Taylor.
With the news.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
All right, so some pretty big news this morning.
Drew Breeze has decided to return to the Saints for the 2020 season.
And this has a lot of ramification, so Drew Breeze is back for the Saints.
Yes, he has posted the announcement on Instagram this morning with a picture of himself standing on top of a mountain.
Hawaii?
I'm not sure.
Yeah, I guess.
It looks like Hawaii.
Possibly Hawaii. It is Hawaii. Okay, it is Hawaii.
He said, my feelings about the 2020 season.
I look forward to the grind and the journey for the reward of the ends will be worth it.
Love you, Hootat Nation. Let's make another run at it.
Okay. So now, Teddy Bridgewater, he's spokes.
Teddy Bridgewater, Taysam Hill.
But, I mean, Teddy Bridgewater is Garoppolo.
You can get to a conference championship, in my opinion, with Teddy Bridgewater.
So somebody go get Teddy Bridgewater.
Who should go get Teddy Bridgewater?
Well, we're doing a game later today called Tominoes.
If Tom Brady goes to the Raiders, what are the dominoes?
The Tominoes is fine.
I like that.
I think there's a, I'm going to give you a, I think there's a perfect place for Teddy Bridgewater,
but I don't want to give it away.
It's in the NFC, and I think everybody wins.
The Saints win, the team wins, and Teddy wins, and it's not where you think.
Because I think Teddy, to me, there's a lot of talk about these quarterbacks.
Do you, who needs a grown-up at quarterback?
Just ask yourself that.
Not even maybe to win a Super Bowl.
Who needs a grown-up as a franchise at quarterback?
Because that's what Teddy Bridgewater is, and that's where he's going to go.
Interesting.
That's what we call a tease.
Yeah, two and a half hours later, but a hell of a tease.
So the Panthers are waiting until Cam Newton is healthy to make a decision about his future,
and that day might be getting closer.
Carolina expects Cam to pass his physical in March and be cleared for football activities.
He will most likely be limited in his return due.
to the delicate nature of his injury.
He had surgery.
Liz Frank injury surgery in December.
He's reportedly been at the Panthers facility
on a weekly basis for rehab.
And he thinks he will absolutely be back
with the Panthers next season.
He has a $21.1 million cap hit in 2020.
I have theories on this.
We've gone back and forth.
It is the perfect time to tank.
Luke Keekley retired.
Greg Olson is gone because he was old.
I think they're too good to tank.
but they're not a Super Bowl team.
No, but tanking is hard.
Like, we thought the dolphins were going to be the worst team in the league this year,
and they were too good to tank.
Like, they do not have the number one overall pick.
I'll tell you something, Joy, there's not a lot of,
if you look at next year in the NFL,
if Joe Burroughs good, not even great.
If he's good and they win five games,
there's not going to be a zero, one, or a two lost team in the NFL.
If you move off Cam and go with Kyle Allen,
no Luke Keekly, first year coach,
McCaffrey. He coughed last week. Put him on the IR. I seriously, I think this team needs a reboot.
And by the way, who's the number one pick next year? Plays right next to Carolina, Trevor Lawrence at Clemson.
Right, but you really, really have to tank. Like, that's, as I'm saying, it's not, it's not that hard.
I mean, it's not that easy to tank. You have to convince players to tank, which is never going to happen.
Well, no, what you call it is repositioning. You change the language. We are repositioning the franchise.
We are rebooting the franchise. As far as the front office and the coach goes, they can be on the same page.
players are not going to go out there and tank.
So I think that's risky.
I mean, I don't, I'm with you.
I think they probably do move off of Cam.
I think that Cam has a lot of football left to play.
Yeah.
And I'm, I'm a Cam Newton fan.
I think he ends up somewhere and does well.
But it seems like you're not giving him the vote of confidence that you would need to for him
to be a franchise quarterback.
So that lends me to think that they will move off of him.
But I don't know if they're, I don't know if they're bad enough without him to tank.
So the Bears have already said they're committed to Mitchell Chubesky in 2020,
despite his inconsistent performance.
over the last three years, and Kurt Warner thinks he just needs a little more time.
All you see with Mitch is the lack of consistency.
You see big moments.
You see big throws.
You see big plays where you go, man, bottle that up, and we're going to be just fine.
I didn't become the quarterback I was until I was 28, you know, 28 years old.
And I had to play a lot of football, and it wasn't in the NFL, but I played a lot of football in that time to learn how to play quarterback.
But there's no timetable on how this works.
Oh, it's year three.
You should know by now.
It doesn't always work that way.
Well, Kurt's being very nice, but unfortunately, we do not live in that very patient society anymore.
And also, Kurt Warner at a great arm, Trubisky doesn't.
Mitch has won games.
This is the classic example of Chicago has a lot of good people.
Their coach is smart and their GM is really good.
And they've got some good players.
They're 19 and 10 with Trubisky.
So it's hard to just say it doesn't work.
They have won games.
But this is the, what do we always say?
The hardest person to be honest with is yourself.
Like, it's hard for people to go.
Yeah, this isn't good.
The teams that are honest with themselves, Baltimore with Flacco, and Kansas City with Alex Smith, one won the Super Bowl and one was the number one seat.
You got now, now, I think Chicago within its doors, they don't have a solution to this, not named Cam Newton, because he's strong enough arm to work in Chicago.
But Kurt Warner's also rare, and Kurt Warner had a great arm, and Trubisky is, his arm is an issue.
It's not NFL franchise quarterback worthy.
I'd love to see Cam Newton in Chicago.
I also think Teddy Bridgewater would be a good option in Chicago.
The thing about Chicago that is unique is that I think that their defense is a Super Bowl-level defense.
So while Kurt may be right, Mitch may need more time to develop.
He's not going to get that after this year, I don't think.
I mean, unless we see some incredible step up, which I'm not anticipating.
I think we are on the same page at Chibisky.
It's just I don't see it.
Yes.
And that's like you can have a big throw.
All NFL quarterbacks are going to have big throws.
It matters.
You have to see guys and go, oh, he's got it.
He's just a little raw, but you can work with that.
Sam Darnold's raw.
Deshawn Watson were raw.
There was an it.
Oh, that's special.
That's something most guys can't do.
And there's just not the level of patience in the league anymore,
not with the amount of talent that's coming out of college football.
Joy with the News.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Ly news.
Boy, I'd tell you what, we had to bring him back yesterday.
It was cats and dogs living together with Rick Buecker,
who's been covering the NBA since the early 90s,
so I'm bringing Buehker back.
Justin Timberlake brought sexy back.
I'm bringing Buechre back.
Brought to you by Mercedes, the best or nothing.
And by the way, Bukes always looks like a guy who drives one
because he's always elegantly, sharply dressed.
So how about this one?
Interesting.
Sometimes you just put a little out of it.
there and the feeding friends leave.
Yes. So the Lakers have
Janus's brother
somewhere in the organization. Not by accident.
I've seen their practices.
And Janus
mentioned yesterday something about that.
What did he say? He said
essentially, he was asked, you know, what would it be
like to play with your brothers? And
he said, whether it's
Milwaukee or L.A., it would be great.
I know our mom would love us playing together. And of course,
as soon as you say anything other than
the place that you are,
But the reading into it is way too much.
If you look at all of the international players and Janus Fitz right into this,
they don't have the American mindset.
They are all.
Look at all of it.
And I will throw it to you since you put me on the spot yesterday.
Oh, I did.
The burner.
Name a single international player who has expressed dissatisfaction with where he is
and has forced his way to another team.
A great player.
Maybe any player, but certainly a great player.
You're not going to find it.
Porzingis.
But he didn't.
But he didn't.
The relationship went sour.
And he actually didn't get to go where he wanted to go.
And I don't know that I would put him in the category of great international players.
He's pretty darn good.
But that's not bad.
That's not bad.
You put me on the burner.
I answer.
Now, I would say this.
It's almost like when you're an American and you travel international.
Yeah. Most Americans are on their best behavior. It's not our country. Right. So when European athletes come over, sure, they are a little more, I would say they're respectful. You're respectful when you're across, when you're out of the place you grew up in. Sure. You go, you travel outside the country. You say, please and thank you more to be respectful to the Europeans and European players come over here and they respect the NBA. If you were an American soccer player. Yeah. And I don't know, I mean, Christian Polisick is probably the closest that's come to that. But if, if, you.
if an EPL team were to say,
we want you, we're going to sign you,
and we're going to build our team around you.
Do you think that American player would ever go,
yeah, you know, Liverpool, thanks,
but I think I'd like to play for Chelsea.
That would never happen.
No, I think it's a really interesting point
that European players,
listen, when you grow up in our country
and you're a star at A.A.U.
You have a sense of ownership.
Like, sure.
Hey, I'm the guy, and I've been told that since 12.
I'm going where I want to.
I think that's a very good point by you.
Yeah.
So, I mean, you look at Dirk, you look at Powell Gasol, you look at Tim Duncan, Manu, Tony, go down the line of all the great international players who have made, who have been made cornerstones on NBA teams.
They're grateful that an NBA team thinks that highly of them that they would build their team around them.
The idea that they need to go to play in L.A. or New York or Houston simply is not in their mindset the way it is with American players.
Guy comes up to me yesterday.
and I was at the gym
crushing it, probably bench in 500,
I forget. And the guy says,
hey, I got a solution to tanking.
And I'm like, all right, his name was Michael.
I said, throw it out there.
He went on to say what a fine broadcaster I was,
but let's not get into that.
He said, why don't you pick a date
in the season
and you don't have to disclose it to players.
It's like an envelope thing.
And you have a date. And whatever the standings are,
that date is. It could be game
29. That.
that is the order of your draft.
Now, you think it's crazy,
but we know it gets established pretty early
who's bad, who's not.
This way, there's no benefit
lasts 55 games to tank.
But I thought about this driving in today
after my fine conversation with Michael.
The fear of tanking is nonsense.
It's nonsense.
This has always been a league where two things happen.
One, the stars end up
generally from Dr. J.
in Philadelphia, they end up at places they want to be, and those are often more glamorous,
urban, cool cities.
That's just the way the leagues always worked, right?
It's mostly the way Kareem ends up in Los Angeles and Shaq ends up in Los Angeles.
Players end up, the star players have leverage and they use it to get where they want,
regardless of where they're drafted.
Secondly, it's not like the Lakers and the Celtics generally have the number one pick.
Zion does go to New Orleans, and Jaum Morant does.
goes go to Memphis. And Marvin Bagley, though not playing well, did go to Sacramento. That bad front
offices dictate the bottom in this league. It's not manipulating the lottery in the draft. The bad
GM stink. Cleveland once again stinks without LeBron. That's not about tanking. They keep getting
picks. Right. Is that we worry too much about this. Who's going to get the number one pick?
The league gives us two things. Bad GMs and stars end up
they want to be and we waste way too much time worrying about this stuff. Well, I agree because
the difficulty is that when you tank, when you go deep, and this more so now than ever before,
it's hard to get back up. It's hard once you get that bad. It creates a stain where any
quality play, like not even the stars, just the veterans that are, that want to be in a good
situation, look at it and go, why would I go there? It's bad basketball. It's going to
make me look bad. I'm still trying to play
and be relevant in this league. Why
would I go there? And I agree with you, 100%.
The other part is,
we worry about the tanking for
particular players.
But there's no guarantee
what those players
are going to be once they get to the NBA.
Especially now because they're all 19 when they get into the league.
Exactly. It's all
on development anyway.
So if you don't have a good team... Which rewards
better franchises. Exactly.
And so you look at the... I mean,
Look at Utah or Indiana or even Boston.
None of them concertedly tanked.
They weren't very good at one point,
but they didn't try to just spiral to the bottom.
So which teams did you just give?
Indiana, Utah and Boston.
And by the way, which one now is the best?
My opinion, Boston, why?
Because they have the better front office and the better coach.
Yes.
And they, that decides where you, it's not this tanking stuff.
Steph Curry with the Warriors and Clay Thompson are better because of the development.
All their players develop.
Right.
Yes.
Well, and look, the Warriors also caught lightning and a bob.
Yeah, they got some breaks.
Everything came together.
You got Steph at the right number because of his ankles.
You got Draymond Green on the second round pick.
I mean, a lot of good things happened.
And then you had a Mark Jackson and had a relationship with Andreo Godala.
And Nade Godala comes in.
So, yeah, there can be some unique situations.
That's actually, it's a very very.
very interesting question about the warriors moving forward because they captured and they've
created a culture, but can you sustain it after five years? Can they sustain it? Oh, God, yes.
San Antonio has. Well, I believe that they will, but that's something to be proved because
if you look at Golden States history, that traditionally is not what they've been.
Well, in the recent history, it is. They're well run now. Yes, they are. The smart people.
But they weren't.
And we'll see.
We'll see.
I mean, if you look at their development,
Steve Kerr and I have this conversation in Vegas during the national team practices last summer.
You know, there is a price to be paid when you're drafting 30th every year.
And if you look at their roster, name a great young player that they've developed over the last five years.
You know what?
Andrew Wiggins is young.
They'll develop him.
He'll be better.
I don't think you worry about that.
I don't think the Yankees worry about player development.
They can do one infielder every three or four years.
They're good.
Okay.
But still, name me.
I'm putting you on the spot since he dodged me on the Porzingis one.
Name me a young player that the Warriors have developed over the course of their last five years.
I don't think it's hurt the franchise.
I can't name one.
So it shows that it's not valuable.
It doesn't matter.
Lakers don't develop any.
Wait a minute.
No, we just talked about how developing young players is part of the fabric of a franchise.
But once they're developed, Clay and Steph and Dreyman
Then it's about winning titles.
Now it's about adding a free agent piece.
They did their developing.
They're out of the development stage.
They're into the winning games next year,
rebooting when everybody's healthy stage.
But you still have to continue to develop young guys.
And who's not to say that you got Steph, Clay, and Draymond,
and that was just a unique threesome that fit together and did well?
I'm not saying that they can't.
I'm just saying that the Warriors history.
Look, I've lived in the Bay Area.
I've seen that team for the last 25 years.
they need to prove that they're capable of getting back in the saddle
and developing another steff, developing another clay, developing another Draymond.
John Morant Zion, you're a GM today.
Which do you take next 10 years?
Colin, I'm so glad that I'm now regularly on your show
because we need to have this on the record.
I said it last summer already.
I would have built around John Moran.
Oh, I would not have.
He would have been my pick and he's still my pick.
I feel as if to a certain extent I've already been proven right.
Oh, really?
Have you seen the recent Zion games, which get me to a television on a Tuesday night to watch New Orleans basketball?
Okay, so now it's about what's going to draw you to the...
Well, you don't think...
Have you not been watching Jha all year?
I mean, talk about electric play.
I watch him on...
I watch YouTube highlights.
I don't watch him.
I rush to a TV to watch Zion.
John Moran's talented, but it doesn't get me...
I watch YouTube highlights.
I go to a television to watch Zion.
That is power.
wouldn't, and I know I'm not alone. I know NBA guys are going to a TV to watch Zion because I see
the ratings. But there's, but there's a, there is an intrigue in terms of what he's going to be.
That is at least half of it. I like jaw. I do, look, I like jaw. I like Zion. I hope he succeeds. I
hope he stays healthy. But a big part of it is finding out who is he and what is he going to be.
Oh, I know what Zion is. What is he? 24 points rolling out of bed because no Euro center wants to take a charge.
His body is so unique and explosive.
He's 24 a night rolling out of bed.
He is going to be a massively productive player with a beautiful touch
and watch him score 28 a game by year two.
You are exactly right.
He's going to be an uber productive player.
Is he going to be a winning player?
I think he's got unbelievable self-awareness.
I think he's bright as heck.
I saw it at Duke.
He's a leader, not a follower.
Everybody said, don't go back.
He goes, I love basketball.
I'm going back.
He's a leader, not a follower?
I agree with...
All of that.
This makes me sound like I don't like
John Morant. I do. I just love
Zion. See, the problem that
I have is everybody is falling over
themselves about Zion being back
and they're ignoring what John Morant
has done with a Memphis
Grizzlies team. I mean, he's made them a
playoff. He has
made them a playoff team. What Zion
is doing is
complimenting and I believe he's
had a
he's
created solidarity among that team.
But is he the driving force of that team?
I'm not ready to say that.
John Morant is the driving force of the Memphis Christians.
Look at the plus minus.
I think Zion could have their.
Brandon Ingram's their best player, but Zhu Holiday is a better player.
I'm not sure.
You keep giving me numbers.
That's right.
Hey, you know what my middle name is?
Data.
Not you're just throwing rants out here.
It's data boy.
No, I get this.
I get the numbers.
And the numbers are amazing.
The way he fills a box score and how easily he fills it.
That's all I care about.
Put the ball in a basket.
31 points.
What do I care about?
You don't.
I care about what the numbers are at the end of the game on the scoreboard?
All like, well, they're not good enough to win now.
I mean, good God, what can he do?
They don't have a bench.
The Memphis Grizzlies were not supposed to be good enough to win now, and they are.
And you know why?
Because of that guy.
Well, he's a point guard.
He handles a ball more.
He's a nice distributor, too.
Good point.
Another reason why I would have built around Jha rather than Zion.
All right.
It's a good argument, though.
Very good.
Very good stuff today, Bukes.
Two days in a row.
I rarely do that.
You delivered both days.
You get another chance to come on the show.
A lot of times I just eliminate guys, take them off the list.
You're back, maybe even tomorrow.
Hey, coming up next, Tom Brady's worst nightmare, I swear to you.
Plus, Floyd-made weather is out of his gourd.
Rob Parker and I are going to argue about the Astros all coming up the herd.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross.
Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth.
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels.
of trust. I want you to just really be a good person.

What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts show,
I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker, this linebacker, why,
He pops up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Ms. Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash
and hormonal crying jag at a time.
You ladies know what I mean.
I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do.
So let's talk about it.
Join me on my new podcast.
How hard can it be with the Anamanea Arriva,
where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood
as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS.
All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like, what the hell is that?
I was married when I had her,
so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Wait, what sex?
Dating at 45.
How hard can it be?
How can it be?
Getting naked at 50 with the new guy.
That one's kind of hard.
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.

Good stuff. I love having Rick Bucher on because we talk about these theoretical things.
I'm a Zion guy over a John Morant guy, though I think they're great. I don't worry too much about injuries.
This is why I'm a-to-a-guy over Joe Burrell. I think they're both going to be good.
is that in the end, you know, Michael Jordan broke his leg.
Didn't affect his career.
John Stockton broke his leg.
Yes, there's occasionally a Greg Oden that can't stay healthy.
But Carson Wentz has had injuries.
You wouldn't take Carson Wentz today?
You wouldn't take Carson Wentz.
Outside of the Kansas City Chiefs, I think you're nuts.
I mean, there's like three teams in the league, maybe not.
If you told me Carson went, Aaron Rogers has been hurt multiple times.
Two collarbone surgeries.
I don't worry about that stuff.
You can play or you can't play.
Most guys play hurt all the time.
LeBron is a complete outlier.
LeBron's don't happen.
You play 15 years and you never have an injury until like year 16.
So if you like a guy, draft a guy.
I mean, there are situations where, you know, you look at a guy in college.
He's a defensive line and he carries a lot of weight.
He's 325.
He's had knee problems.
I get that.
But if I see a quarterback and he got injured in college and I'm like, big arm, big kid, smart kid runs, everybody likes him, Tua, boom, I'm in.
I like his talent more.
I said this about Tua.
I mean, I've gone back and forth on Tua.
I keep saying this.
Let's say Tua only averages 13 games a year for four years when you sign him.
Just 13.
But he wins nine of them, which I think he's that kind of talent.
All I need is a capable backup to win one of the other three games go one and two every year.
Tyrod Taylor can go one and two.
No problem.
I'm a 10-win team.
I win my division.
That wins the division 75% of the time, or at least 10 wins get you into the playoffs.
Two of me is going to win you nine or 13 games.
Maybe more, but that's the kind of talent he is.
If you give him reasonable pieces.
All right, he misses three games a year.
All right.
Eli Manning didn't miss any games at the end either, Philip Rivers.
Last four years drove me nuts.
I'll take the talent.
I'll deal with injuries.
I mean, again, this is not a lug nut factory.
I don't need you there every day at work.
I'd rather you just, I would take, I've had people on my staff in radio before.
They missed seven or eight games, Goulet.
Sevener, I'm just kidding. John never miss his work.
Sometimes we wish he would.
The point being is, I like talent and I can deal with injuries outside of an occasional Greg Oden.
Lots of these guys get hurt.
And most of them don't.
If I like you and I think you're talented, I'm taking you.
Unless my doctors, I mean, look at the Miami Dolphin said, no on Drew Breeze.
How did it work out?
How did it work out?
Not well.
Ask Nick Saban about, you know, I don't think we'll take Drew Breeze.
If Drew Breese is on the market, if he can walk.
inside the building from where he parked his car.
I'm taking Drew Breeze.
Teddy Bridgewater's been hurt.
Take him in a second.
Cam Newton's on the market.
A lot of teams going to like him.
Tom Brady missed a year.
The durability's great, and it's certainly an amazing thing,
and the great athletes mostly have durability.
But I'm not like Zion Williamson.
I just like him.
And I know he's had injuries, but if Zion gives me
69 games a year for a decade,
he's going to fill my arena,
he's good enough that we're going to get to 47 to 52 wins.
He's going to be the kind of guy people want to play with.
And we're going to get free agents.
He's going to make us relevant.
I own the team.
I'm going to make a fortune on sales.
If he can play 69 to 70 games a year, that means he can miss two games a month.
No back-to-backs.
I babysit him a little bit physically.
All right.
Because there's no duplication I see on the market right now is Zion Williamson.
There are no 19-year-olds dropping 31 a game.
I mean, that kid is just rolls out of bed, get you to 20.
I don't need my guys to play 82 games a night.
I said this yesterday.
I got into this argument yesterday with Buker and I.
He was saying load management.
We got one guy in the NBA that really load manages.
That's Kauai.
All the other stars miss four games.
Excuse me, four games.
Sorry, too much coffee.
Four games.
Who gives a rip?
If LeBron gave me, played 75 games a year and he missed seven,
what do I care?
I love George Brett growing up as a kid.
He's my favorite baseball player of all time.
George Brett, Kansas City Royals.
Go back, Google it right now.
He missed 30 games a year.
He played hard.
He was hurt all the time.
He played on AstroTurf.
His feet are burning up.
He probably had calluses.
I mean, it was Kansas City.
He was a great baseball player.
He missed all sorts of time.
But the bottom line is,
George Brett was so much fun to watch that kids and families in Kansas City,
they scheduled vacations around, let's go watch George Brett.
And in a four-game series, he'd miss a game.
But he'd play three.
I'm okay with it.
He got you in the family truckster.
You drove across the state, and you parked.
four days in Kansas City and watched the Royals.
So he missed a game every fourth, fifth game.
So what? Sold a lot of tickets.
I went and watched him when he was playing for Kansas City.
I didn't go to Kansas City. I saw him on the road because I liked him.
Pete Rose, same thing. Missed some games.
I don't care. I'm okay with it. Zion is all-time unique.
All-time unique. They just do not come off the conveyor belt and look like Zion.
They just don't.
I can't get to my, I don't have time to get to my Patriot thing.
It's really good. I just don't have time to get to it.
I'll do it top of the hour.
I am supporting broken down players.
You really are.
Yeah, I mean, it's just we're always looking for perfect from these kids.
Oh, he can't shoot.
He can't stay healthy.
He can't do it.
They're 19, 20-year-old kids.
I don't think you're looking for perfect, but, you know, these evaluations and these decisions affect hundreds of jobs, millions, sometimes billions of dollars.
And if you happen to make a mistake and pick the guy who was injury prone and then he's not available.
Dallas went and got Christops Porzingus.
He had injury history.
Dallas right now is a great television watch.
They also have Luca.
Huh?
They also have Luca.
Well, I'm saying, but they said you can't win with one guy, so they said, we're going to get Christops.
We're going to roll the dice on him.
But those situations are different.
When you're talking about drafting and building your entire franchise around someone,
especially the quarterback position, or if you have the number one overall pick in the NBA draft,
I mean, I'm going to go with Zion, too.
I'm team Zion.
I love John Morant.
So do I.
It's not an anti-John Morant.
I just think I'm Team Zion.

I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff,
like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time.
You ladies know what I mean.
I'll bet you a paramedapausal chin here you do.
So let's talk about it.
Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with the Adam Maria Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS.
All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like, what the hell is that?
I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex?
Dating at 45. How high can it be getting naked at 50?
with the new guy.
That one's kind of hard.
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter,
and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask,
how hard can it be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.
Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva
as part of my Cultura podcast network available on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Oh, here we go.
I'm in Los Angeles.
It's a Tuesday.
This is the herd wherever you may be and however you may be listening.
IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1.
I am so excited for this weekend.
So I'm going to the Tyson Fury, Deonté Wilder fight in Las Vegas.
Between the two of them there, 78, and 1.
Yep.
We're going to see a knockout.
First time they fought was a controversial draw.
So I'm going to it, and I told Joyce, I can't wait to go to the fight.
It takes me back to my Vegas days.
I love big fights.
I may wear a tuxedo.
Very excited.
A tuxedo.
I'm going to go.
all in. I'm going to be a man.
Don't you hate run suits? I do, but not
for fights. I'm going to the fight also.
I'm going to walk into the arena and a tuxedo
with a martini. I'm going to be like George Hamilton.
I'm going to like Bond. So you're
going to the fight as well. Yes, I am.
I cannot wait. Can we get one of these guys on
before they beat each other up? Can we do it live
with one of these guys? I can't wait. We've had
Deonté Wilder on. Yes, he's amazing.
It's going to be a great fight. Oh, it's going to be.
Let me tell you something. We've been doing this forever.
I just had this conversation a couple
days ago. I've been doing sports forever. I've been to everything except the Kentucky
Derby, and that's mostly been due to time restraints. It's a bad time of the year for me.
And fights are the best. There's nothing better than going to a big fight in Vegas.
It's just a spectacle and an event. The energy. Yeah. And it's something you really feel like
you're a part of history. And to be honest with you, it's special. They don't give out a lot of great
seats to fights. Yeah. Like it's one night, one hour. I was at the fan man fight. I was at
Holyfield Tyson. I've been at Sugar Ray Leonard, Hagler.
hernes. And it's something, a fight is something you can't, you can't take a break from. Like,
it's not like, you know, you're in the second quarter like, oh, you know what? I'm going to run
to the bathroom for a few minutes. Like, you can't miss one second of it. I saw Roy Jones early in
Vegas, like his first 10 fights. I saw Tyson early in Vegas. I love fights. I can get my wife to go to a
fight. I can't beg my wife to go to a baseball game. She likes the NBA and she likes fights because
they're kind of events. She can wear a nice outfit. Well, and it's very convenient, you know.
Oh, my. Good seats. It's very intimate experience.
I am going to be a tuxedo and a martini walking in.
You should have like a cane and a top hat.
Why stop there?
I look like Roger Stone, one of Trump's guys.
Yeah, maybe not.
All right, so I got to tell you something.
I am the New England Brady thing.
A lot of people are saying this.
I know what a lot of you think as the public.
You think we're all just making crap up.
You think he's going to go back to New England.
And I do think that's about 70%.
But I'm going to tell you,
that people in this business who are connected very close to Tom
think he's gone.
They think he's gone.
Now, I have one great source on this who is close to Tom.
Tom, it's not a money issue.
He's scared he's going to get trapped.
As we've talked about, Tom, the New England Patriots,
have to pay Tom in mid-March.
That way, it's less of a cap hit.
So New England's probably going to make him an offer, whatever they make him, March 16th, 17th, 18th.
Tom's concern is, I don't know what you're going to do.
Do you have the free agents by then?
What are you going to do in the draft?
Because Tom knows New England doesn't spend money.
They like to find value in everybody, even wide receivers.
So today a mock draft came out from Mel Kuyper.
and it's fascinating because it's Tom Brady's worst nightmare.
So Mel Kuiper has the Patriots first pick in the first round.
Number 23, a receiver?
No, a tight end?
No.
Giving Tom help?
No.
Jacob Eason, quarterback at Washington.
And by the way, that's exactly what they do.
So Brady signs and gets his money and they draft his replacement.
And then the Patriots don't have a second round pick.
So by the time they draft at the end of the third round,
the eight to ten best receivers are gone and the best tight ends gone.
And Bill doesn't spend money on free agent wide receivers or tight ends.
This is Brady's fear.
Mel Kuyper's mock draft is what New England's going to do.
So Tom, this is why I think Tom cannot worry about money.
He just has to get over the money.
This is the least important facet for this.
And I know it's respect, blah, blah, blah.
Your net worth of fortune.
What Tom needs is well.
That's why I think I've done my Brady pie.
I do think the Tennessee Titans are the best fit.
It gives Tom two things he doesn't currently have.
Good weapons, star running back, and it gives him fun.
Him and Vrable are boys.
And I do think Tom at this point, as his wife said in the documentary,
he wants to be respected.
Vrable respects him.
He'll be treated like a god in Nashville.
And Nashville's a fun city.
So I know the fans, I ran into fans a couple weeks ago.
I was skiing, and I ran into four guys.
in a bar, great guys from New Hampshire and Boston, they were Patriot guys.
And they're like, you guys in the media.
That's how they talk in New Hampshire.
You guys in the media.
He's signing with the Patriots.
And I'm like, I think he is.
But don't go crazy on this.
Jeff Darlington's an excellent NFL reporter.
Darlington is very well connected in the Tom Brady circles.
I've known Jeff for a long time.
He's a real pro.
He thinks it's less than 50-50.
Like Tom is trapped on it.
Once you're Tom Brady or LeBron James, here's the one thing you won't stand for, being trapped.
You're not going to tell LeBron.
LeBron's life's not perfect.
He may not get the perfect coach or the perfect bench or the perfect teammates.
He's not going to feel trapped or he's going to bolt.
That's why I signed one-year contracts.
Tom worked really hard to become a free agent.
Okay, he worked really hard to do this.
Have leverage.
Have free agency.
He's going to listen to offers.
So you're kidding yourself if you think he's not going to listen to offers.
And this is the prime issue.
Mel Kuyper's mock draft is Brady's fear.
They don't have a second pick, and the first one, they're just going to pick my replacement.
And by the time the Patriots have a third pick, the eight to ten best receivers are gone,
and the best tight end is gone.
And we know you don't spend money.
Now, I think it's all solvable.
I think this is all totally solvable with one move.
I think the Patriots should go out and get Stefan Diggs.
I think Tom Brady should say, you sign Stefan Diggs, Minnesota.
I'm in.
I won't even ask for the most money.
Stefan Diggs is unhappy in Minnesota.
Minnesota would love to have a second pick.
They need to get a quarterback to replace Kurt Cousins in one year.
They also have two good tight ends, a star running back, Adam Thielen.
They have a very good defensive roster.
They draft well.
Minnesota, hey, New England, we'll give you our first round pick.
You give us Stefan Diggs.
And I think it would solve everything.
Tom would have a deep threat.
Now, Edelman could be your two.
Muhammad Sanoo could be your three.
Nikki O'Hare could be your four.
That's a pretty good receiving corps.
That solves a lot of it.
issues. Stefan Diggs your one. Edelman's a great two to three. Mohamed Sanoon,
Nikiel Harry, the young kid, gets a little better. That's four guys you can trust.
Philip Dorset still can make an occasional play. They had the other, I forget,
Jacoby Myers, the other, yeah, he's your fifth receiver, your fifth out. They got enough
running backs. That's not the issue. So I think you could solve it all if Tom just said,
you promised me, Stefan Diggs, Minnesota. Minnesota's looking to move off him for the right
pick. They are. He's unhappy there. Look at his Instagram. Adam Thielen of the Vikings every day is like,
I love America.
Stefan Diggs is pay me some money.
Give me respect.
Now, he's expensive.
He's 14 million bucks, but he's a great player,
and they are a loaded roster,
and they're going to have to move him anyway,
and I think now's the time.
You've got a team that needs it.
So I think the Brady stuff is real.
I think he's considering other options.
I think Jeff Darlington knows.
I think it's real stuff,
and I think he could solve all of it,
but we know this organization does not have a history
of spending 14 million on wide receivers.
They just don't.
All right.
I saw this. I had to
I'm going to talk about this for a second.
Listen, I've always been able to separate art from artist.
My friends, some are liberals, some are Trump fans.
I can separate people from politics.
Some people can. Some people can. I think most people can.
I have friends who like Trump. I have friends who hate Trump.
I can separate people from their politics.
I can separate art from artists. There are athletes who I don't like,
but I will pay for a Floyd Mayweather fight.
and I don't respect his history and misogyny and some domestic violence situations with women.
But if he's fighting, Connor McGregor, I'll pay for it and I don't have to like people.
But my bigger problem with Floyd is increasingly, because his career is mostly over,
he said yesterday, he goes, you know, nothing against LeBron James, who just got voted male athlete of the decade.
He goes, but I'm really the male athlete of the decade.
and Mayweather is not even in consideration, considering the last half of the last decade,
he never fought a boxer.
It was Connor McGregor.
So, yeah, Manny Pacquiao was old.
Connor McGregor, that's the last half decade for, you know, for, or, you know, Floyd Mayweather.
But it got me thinking if I had to vote for male athlete of the decade, who would my choices be?
and it is remarkable how good the options are.
So LeBron James, Tom Brady's got three Super Bowls and two MVP.
So LeBron's got to be, in my opinion, LeBron would win my athlete of the decade.
LeBron James has had eight finals appearances.
Tom Brady, again, if a little lean to the most parody-driven sport of my life
and he has created a two-time dynasty.
Novak Djokovic in tennis has seen.
16 grand slams.
And that's with
Roger Federer
as an opponent. That's with
Rafi Nadal as an opponent.
The Joker's the best talent player I've ever seen
when he's playing his best.
He's been a little less consistent than Federer.
Michael Phelps has nine
gold medals. That's
actually, I mean,
Mayweather only had 10 fights in a decade.
Phelps had nine gold medals.
And then I would say Usain Bolt
had six gold medals. The world's fastest.
man is, let's be honest, probably the coolest thing you can ever be called as a dude.
I mean, seriously, there's my friend Bob. He's the world's fastest man. Not a lot of toppers on that.
But Mayweather doesn't only not make the top five. I wouldn't even consider him for the next five.
Then I'd go Rafi Nadal, who is, again, 13 grand slams in the last decade. Then I'd go to
Steph Curry. He changed the way we play basketball fundamentally high school college to pro,
multiple titles, unanimous MVP's,
we've never had that before.
Then I'd go, Messi,
who was five-time
global soccer player
of the year, followed by Ronaldo,
who was four-time global soccer player
of the year. And then I would have to give
Mike Trout, who I think seven times
in the last decade, I think I could be,
I think it seven times was first or second
in the MVP voting. I'd put him 10
because he's had no playoff success.
I'm at 10.
I would still not.
even consider Floyd Mayweather.
In fact, if it was just athlete of the decade,
I would put Connor McGregor and Serena
both above him.
Connor McGregor carried an entire sport.
The UFC does not sell for $4 billion without
Connor McGregor. It sells for about one.
Connor McGregor changed viewing habits.
Forced people to watch UFC.
People watch boxing forever with or without Floyd Mayweather.
And Serena,
outside of Jokovic, I don't think there's anybody in the last 10 years in tennis
that's even been close to dominating her sport.
I would put Simone Biles above him also for just doing athlete of the decade.
Mayweather's not even close.
He's basically, he cherry picks his opposition.
He's kind of a money pursuing inactive dot, dot, dot, undefeated boxer.
I mean, there's no, there's no arguing his record and his influence on the sport.
His historic legacy is intact.
But for the decade,
it's not even close.
His last half of the last decade,
he fought old Manny Pacquiao and a UFC guy.
He doesn't fight enough.
He's enacted.
You've got to actually show up to work to get employee of the year.
You've got to kind of show up occasionally to work.
Coming up next, Rob Parker on a variety of topics.
I'm not saying the Astros cheating is good,
but I think we have recency bias,
and we're all going, you know, cuckoo for Cocoa Pops here.
It's like steroids was.
way worse. Steroids was way
worse and it lasted 15 years.
This is going to be over by the end of this year.
This may be over this stuff by the All-Star
break. That's coming up.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash will get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers
while he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp
with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,

In just four days,
don't miss the most anticipated title fight in years.
Undefeated heavyweight champion,
Deonté Wilder,
takes on 29-0, Tyson Fury, and the rematch the sports world has been waiting for.
Saturday at 9 Eastern, 6 Pacific, buy it now on pay-per-view or the Fox Sports app.
Plus, don't miss a special appearance by both fighters on the masked singer tomorrow on Fox.
Yeah, can't wait for it.
Joe and I are both going.
Great heavyweight fight.
Rob Parker Fox Sports guy, you are one of the most unique human beings I have ever met.
I've said this before.
Rob is doing something, and I'm not joking.
This is what Rob does.
you are going on a cruise in a couple days.
Tell people what the cruise is, and he's not joking.
It's the Golden Girls cruise.
Your favorite show ever.
One of the funniest shows, and I know people are like,
how are you going to a show up,
you know, going on a cruise about old women living in Florida?
One of the greatest theme songs right here.
Yeah.
And you know this, Colin, you've watched it.
The writing's great.
The writing is absolutely spectacular.
And funny is funny.
I don't care what the characters are.
That's right.
Funny is funny.
And so it's a cruise leaving from Miami.
It's in like 10 days, and it's a five-night cruise.
And will all the people be on it?
Are they still alive?
No, no, no.
Betty White's the only one left, and she won't be on it.
But it's just a theme for people who love the show.
And cheesecake galore, all kinds of people will be dressed up as a character.
I will not be dressed up as one of the characters.
I will say this.
In my life covering in the media, there's never been a Rob Parker.
He said it when he walked on the set.
And I was like, oh, yeah, that's fun.
Like, I didn't, I didn't register.
I thought he was just joking.
No, he's going on a Golden Girls cruise.
Yeah, it's literally a Golden Girl's Cruise.
And you went to Antarctica.
Went to Antarctica this year?
And you sent me a picture next to a penguin.
Which was unbelievable.
That was a great trip.
The fact that it went through is another story.
I couldn't believe it either.
But you know what?
I love life.
I think you should try to see as much as you can, do as much as you can.
I made a big mistake when I was younger.
I let a guy, I was working at the Daily News in New York.
And I let a guy talk me.
me out of going to see Frank Sinatra in his older years.
Yeah.
Because he was like, oh, Frank Sinatra doesn't know all the words and he's old and this and that.
So I didn't do it.
And you know what, Sinatra died like the next year or so?
And I never got to see him perform.
So I don't do that anymore.
I don't let people talk me out of stuff.
If I want to do it, I'm just going to do it.
Okay, you and I, my theory is this.
Everybody's got recency bias.
Whatever happens today is the worst thing in the world.
Nobody's got context.
You and I are not in our 20s or 30s.
The steroid scandal lasted 15 years.
You thought it was over, and they had a Mitchell report.
It never ended.
It shattered records, which are Sacrosynct in baseball.
It changed series.
Losers became winners.
The Yankees won five titles, the Red Sox 2, and you couldn't get the Texas Rangers out for 15 years.
Because these teams that had the sluggers, the really talented guys, you couldn't play small ball.
There was one way to win.
Get Royed guys.
That was it.
Baseball now cleaned up the roids, and the Giants won three titles, playing.
in small ball and situational baseball.
The Royals won a title off their bullpen.
There's many ways now to win in baseball.
You think the Astros cheating is even worse.
I do because I think it just, it touched a lot of people, Colin.
It's not just about the Astros themselves and the teams that maybe got hurt along the way.
It's about workers who maybe feel like they got cheated out of maybe making money on World Series games
that they would have had at Yankee Stadium.
those guys didn't get paid.
Those money that they expect it didn't happen to workers.
How about the fans?
If you're an Astros fan, right?
And this was your moment.
You were a fan your whole life.
They finally win.
And they even take that away from you.
Like, I can't even taunt another baseball fan and say, well, my team won because they
would be like, yeah, but they cheated.
So it's tainted.
Even the Astro fans feel that way.
And then from even the other part that I think is the most surprise.
is I think the commissioner thought
I don't want to take on the union
right? This was
organizational cheating
so we're going to go after the people
who are in charge who allowed
this to happen. I agree that's what you should do.
Right, that's what you have to. But the other
part is they never thought that
the same union has been together
through thick and thin that walked
out on the World Series in 1994.
Remember that? That was,
they never stopped the World Series
that did that would attack
their own brother in.
The attacks on the Astros is unbelievable.
But people during the steroid era were ripping guys.
A-Rod took a lot of heat.
Not like this, Colin.
This is unprecedented.
But you know what's going to happen.
You think, obviously, the Astros are going to get booed everywhere.
What do you think is going to happen when they play at home?
I think I'm one of the few who believe this.
And a lot of people are pushing back saying, oh, they're going to support their own.
I think there are going to be some people who are baseball.
fans who are astro fans who will be mad that this went on and took away some of their joy.
And they'll boo them.
And I think they will get booed even at home.
Not as bad as it'll be around the country.
Okay, so you and I are going to have a bet.
All right.
Because I think we live in an age of affirmation, not information.
Conservatives watch Fox.
Liberals watch MSNBC.
Nobody wants new information.
People dig themselves in.
They're entrenched.
They're embedded in a cause.
Astro fans will watch the Astros get booed.
and they'll feel a sense of, hey, these guys are cheaters, but there are cheaters.
And they'll get standing ovations.
I don't think they will.
I think there will be booze in the crowd and not just from opposing fans, you know, who might be there.
But some of the people who honestly look at them and say, we were duped.
You duped us.
We thought they stripped down the whole organization, built from the minor leagues, right?
build up your own players and turned in with the analytics that the Astros were supposed to be the model.
They do Major League Baseball.
What is Derek Dieter doing in Miami right now?
He stripped down the Marlins to build it off the model of the Astros.
Did he know that they were cheating and had the pitchers coming in?
Do you see what I'm saying?
I do, but I still think, I want to segue out of this.
I still think steroids was a 15-year canker sore for the sport.
I think this will be over very quickly after a few guys get thrown at by the Houston Astros.
Let me segue to this.
Two things I want to touch on.
Number one, Tom Brady to the Raiders, is going to get offered $60 million, $30 million each year.
Do you buy it?
What do you make of it?
Well, that would be a perfect place for him to end up his career in Las Vegas where old musicians wound up going.
He could share maybe a dressing room with Wayne Newton and Barry Manelow.
And Barry Manelow and Neil Diamond.
That would be perfect for Tom Brady.
Plus, they have all the senior citizens' dinners, right?
He can have dinner at 4 o'clock.
It would fit him great in Vegas.
Okay.
Second issue, that was kind of snarky.
Second issue is LeBron is my athlete of the decade.
Floyd Mayweather, who was mostly inactive for the last five years of the decade,
fought old Manny Pacquiao and a UFC guy.
Floyd's not in my top 10, not in my top 12.
What do you make a LeBron?
Are you okay with LeBron?
Ron being the athlete of the decade.
Yeah, I'm okay with that.
I think Floyd is way off base.
In fact, I got a better tie.
Do you want to take a look at this?
I got a better.
Floyd should be the baker of the decade because he had so many cupcakes.
He probably should have a toothache.
I mean, come on, Colin.
You're right.
Who did he fight?
Nobody.
You have seen nine and old.
And he ducked really good fighters in their prime.
That's what I'm saying.
So Floyd can go ahead and make that claim, but I'm not buying it.
You know, when the NBA just had their All-Star weekend.
and, you know, I'm interested in this.
So you are more of a fan than I am.
I always consider myself sort of a judge, the fans of the jury, I want to be impartial.
You yell and scream and I'll make the decision on what lands and what doesn't.
You are more of a fan.
I think the NBA, I think we overstate load management.
I think one guy's really doing it.
I don't need my stars to play 82.
Play 75.
George Brett, my favorite baseball.
player, missed 30 games a year. I'm okay.
LeBron plays 74, 75, miss a couple road games, I'm good.
I think load management's overstated. I think the league's, I think the lack of
parodies overstated. You and I are old enough to remember the only decade with real
parity in the NBA, the 70s, and nobody watched it. Yeah, but you got to admit,
there were other things going on in the 70s. That was considered a drug league.
You remember that? There were scandals. And I do believe, I get it.
I'm not saying that players can't take a day off every so often.
Yeah.
But I think what has happened is tickets back in the 70s and 80s were $40 to go to an NBA game.
Colin, if you have children, if it's your son, he wants to go to see LeBron James for the first time in person
and you buy tickets for his birthday of Christmas, and then he's not heard.
He's just taken off.
And you got to remember that gotten out of control a couple of years ago when the television network
started to push back, right? They did Saturday night on ABC and all these guys. It wasn't just
LeBron and Steph and all of a sudden, KD, and all these guys are just taking days off.
And I think that's where fans got a little worked up about it. I'm paying my hard-earned money.
If you give me a load management escape clause and I can get my $400 back, take all the days off.
But I don't think it's right to ask people to pay top dollar. And then I'm, I'm, I'm, to pay top dollar.
and then I can't see what I...
If you go to a Broadway show and the star
the show is not performing, I either want
my money back or tickets for a day that he's
there. I'm not there to see the understudy.
I'm just not. Okay.
All right, that's fair. That's not fair? Well, it is.
I think we... It's not as bad
now as it was. I'm telling a couple years ago.
I think if you look at the stars in this league,
LeBron plays almost every night. Yonis does.
James Hardin does.
No, I agree with you. Now it does. Now they do
because the commissioner had to say something.
It was getting out of control.
Yeah, no, I think the danger in the NBA, it's always been controlled by labor.
It's the only sports league in America where generally I don't believe companies should be run by employees.
I think you should have capital, ownership, management.
You have hierarchies.
I don't think I should be running Fox Sports.
Of course, I would favor my show and give us more of a budget.
I think.
And you would cancel the odd couple on the radio, right?
I probably would just get rid of it.
It's too good and it's taking audience from me.
Rob Parker, a Hall of Fame baseball voter, good seeing you,
and enjoy your odd, your, what's it called?
The Golden Girls Cruise.
Have you ever been on a cruise?
I have.
I actually like cruises.
Really?
Yeah.
This will be fun.
Wait until I come back with all the pictures and everything.
Random strangers you're on a boat with.
And you know what?
It's great.
You'll have so much time on the cruise because we have dinner at 4 o'clock.
So this will be great.
You will be the youngest person on the cruise by about two decades.
Joy Taylor with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Cruises are great for families.
Very easy to travel for families.
That's why I've never gone on one and you have.
I'm surprised.
Yeah, I mean, I haven't been on a bunch.
I've been on like three.
And you liked it.
Yeah, I mean, it's just like a convenient little,
I mean, I didn't go for like a 10-day cruise.
Where did you go?
Three days.
The Bahamas, Jamaica.
And you just hang out with strangers.
No, you hang out with the people you go with.
I mean, I'm not raw.
I'm not going on a Golden Girls cruise by myself.
But.
But yeah.
You went with girlfriends.
I went with my brother a long time ago.
And he liked it.
Yeah.
I mean, he's not going on cruise now.
But they're very affordable.
You eat together.
You know, kids play with all the other kids.
You lay around.
You buy drink packages.
You don't have to worry about how much money you're spending.
It's a huge business.
And hopefully you don't get sick.
Well, yes.
You're not kidding.
So Teddy Bridgewater is likely looking for a new team now that Drew Brees has announced.
He's returning to the Saints.
Bridgewater had a solid 2019 season.
season winning all five of his starts while Breeze was injured, and the free agency market will
reportedly be strong for him.
Who said that?
As either a starter or a bridge quarterback for a team in transition.
Okay, I'm having my Tomino's segment next hour.
Tom Brady, when he goes to the Raiders potentially or leaves New England, the domino effect,
the Tominoes were calling it.
I think Bridgewater, whoever said he's going to have a strong market, I totally agree with.
Who said that?
ESPN.
Yeah, I still agree with it.
Yeah.
Well, listen, I mean, I think we should assume he's going to have a strong market.
He had a great performance.
And he was great before this.
It was kind of out of sight out of mind in New Orleans.
But coming out and winning all five games while Breezes out, obviously they had a great team,
but that's still not an easy thing to do.
So there's going to be a lot of movement, and that's why we're doing that segment with free agent
quarterbacks and obviously with what happens in the draft.
But I personally would love to see Teddy Bridgewater in Chicago.
I think that's a great place for him.
I don't think that Chibisky is the guy there.
Cold and windy.
He's not a big arm guy.
It's cold and windy all the time.
I think they're in a wind now situation.
I know.
That Chicago is in one place, I wouldn't do it.
Warm weather dome, I'm all in on him.
Well, Carolina is obviously another place,
but I don't necessarily know that that's building towards the future.
Like, if you're in that situation, I would just say with Cam Newton.
You know, the interesting thing, and the money probably doesn't work,
but I don't know what Pittsburgh's plan is moving forward.
I've got a solution of that later today.
Okay.
You've got to watch my Tomino's theory.
It's another cheese for Tominoes.
It's very interesting.
And it's a Pittsburgh's a fascinating team for a lot of quarterbacks.
It is because Ben Robertsburg going to his 17th season.
He is going to be the quarterback this year for sure.
That is it.
And I think Ben's stuff is way worse than it's being reported.
I don't think Ben.
Well, I think that his salary cap hit this year is going to make him.
be there this year. Right. And they don't, I mean, we saw what happened with Mason Rudolph and
Duck Hodges this year. That's not good enough. No. So the Raiders are reportedly preparing to give
Tom Brady a two years $60 million deal when he hits a free agency in March and there could
be some other teams willing to give him a huge deal to leave New England as well. But according to
Tom Curran, the patrons are not worried about the money that will be thrown at Brady. The team
thinks their business with him revolves around the direction of the offense and the pieces they can
add around him next year and not the size of the contract.
Now, overall, I would agree, but I do think that the contract numbers being thrown out there is something important is not something to completely ignore, considering that he has taken less money for so many years and has not been paid what he should be paid as Tom Brady and the best quarterback in the NFL.
Obviously, coming off of the year that he had last year, it does obviously seem a little strange to all of us that the salary would be something that we're even discussing at this point.
I don't get it.
This story leads me to believe Tom is coming back as long as he gets a say in the free agent acquisition of a Stefan Dix.
If he does, Tom's back.
Because they don't have a second round.
But again, like we keep talking about this.
Why would the Patriots start doing anything differently than they've been doing now?
Because it's Tom's last year because they're probably believed they're going to draft a quarterback.
So they're going to tell Tom, listen, we're going to take a quarterback in this draft early.
We don't have a second round pick.
We may use the first.
So I think they're having, I think they're going to have grown up discussions at some point.
I mean, if I worked with you for 15 years, and even if at the end it was tense, I'm not going to lie to you.
I'd come up to you and say, listen, Joy, you know, we're going to take another hurdly news.
We're going to draft another herd line user.
And you're like, okay, this is my last year here.
Make it special for me.
Can you get me a better producer or whatever, something like that?
And I would be, okay.
I mean, I think at this point, they're grownups.
There's tension.
But they're not going to lie to each other.
If Tom says, get me Stefan Biggs, New England says, okay, but we are going to draft a quarterback with the first pick.
And Tom would be, I'll sign off on it.
if you just get me, because the Tom Curran story is saying it ain't a money thing.
It's a, give me a player.
I think it is a player thing.
But I think the money thing becomes important if they don't get a player.
By the way, I like your producer now.
I'm not saying I don't.
I'm saying it 15 years in.
We would be honest with each other.
I'm not drafting a new.
Yeah.
Or you were drafting a new host.
You would be honest with me and say, listen, this is the last year.
Let's make it special.
You and I have honest conversations and you didn't, you know, you didn't try and replace me with Jimmy Garoppolo.
you know, when I still had good years left in me.
So there's a little, some other elements in there.
You know what I'm saying?
This whole thing has gone off the rails.
So finally, Joe Burrow is expected to be drafted first overall by the Bengals.
Cincinnati's not really known for being a great organization.
And Burrow continues to dance around questions about whether he would want to be there.
This is a long process, right?
And they have their process that they have to go through.
And so I'm just blessed to be in the position that I'm in.
If they select me, they select me.
Yeah.
If my wife said, do you love me, I'd say yes, not.
Well, you have a process.
I have a process.
You know, it depends.
It's a long process.
It's not very committal.
Yeah, it's kind of, you know, if you select me, just say, I want to be a Bengal.
I'm from Ohio.
Can't wait.
Never said it.
Well, I mean, why would he say it?
He shouldn't say it.
He should absolutely shouldn't say it.
Listen, I obviously am a big borough fan.
I think he should be the number and overall pick.
I would take him over to a, I would love for the Dolphins.
to just give up a trade hall and move up.
And maybe part of this, you know, sort of noncommittal on both sides
is the Bengals trying to position themselves
and see what they can get if they want to not take Burrow.
I think they do want Burrow.
I think that the only people that would be mad at Joe Burrow
if he said he doesn't want to go to the Bengals would be the Bengals.
That's right.
Everybody else would get it.
Everyone else in the league would understand.
Absolutely.
It would not be pushback.
Nope.
He would not be a villain.
He wouldn't be very well liked in Cincinnati.
And that's probably it because Cleveland's not going to care.
I'm not either. Actually, Cleveland would very much appreciate if Joe Burrow forced his way out of Cincinnati.
So you can have fans in Cleveland as well. You can't blame someone for trying to control their career,
especially the way that the contracts are set up in the NFL.
Good stuff. Joy Taylor with the news.
Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lie News. Former Eagle and Cowboy-in-Chief Orlando Scandrick stops by.
How would it play if a player said, I'm not playing for my team. Orlando Scandrick.

You're buying a used car. The internet's confusing, vague pricing,
not anymore, go to True Car, Upfront Price,
dealer online, search from over a million
pre-owned vehicles, buy smarter, drive happier,
True Car. Orlando, Scandrick played in the NFL
for 12 years, drafted by the Cowboys.
And so you have some strong,
opinions on this. I think a quarterback, whoever drafts you, you're trapped seven years. I've seen
quarterbacks go to franchises. They get beat up. They lose their mojo, bad offensive lines. I think
the Cincinnati Bengals have proven without a doubt they're completely dysfunctional. They're cheap.
They don't spend the money. I don't want to see a star player go there. Because I think Joe Burrell's
good, but I don't think he's good enough to overcome Cincinnati. Should he push back and say,
I'm doing an L way? I'm not going.
he's well within his right to do that.
I don't think that that's the best course of action to take.
You go into a situation, already a situation that you're deeming a bad situation.
It's a terrible situation off-jump.
And, you know, I think the Cincinnati Bengals are a team that will draft you
just because they will do something like that just to spite you.
If we go back a few years, Carson had to retire before they traded him
and they found a deal that was favorable.
They were spiteful.
I think Cincinnati is a, it's still an NFL franchise.
They have a unique ownership, a unique scouting department, a unique approach that they take.
But I do feel that he's a hometown kid.
He's from Ohio.
I think it'll be great for him.
I think he has a foundation that he's given a lot of money to.
And I think that he can parlay this thing into a big, big win for himself.
Yeah.
And to your point, Cincinnati's not the kind of franchise that would do a deal.
They would just draft him anyway.
Absolutely.
That's what they've done.
That's their history.
If you're drafted him, you have an asset, so now you can trade them, you can hold them, you can kind of force his hand.
I want to talk about tanking.
I said there are occasional opportunities.
We know tanking works.
It got the Rockets Akeem.
It got the Spurs Tim Duncan.
We've seen what it's done.
It's gotten players.
Now, sometimes the Phoenix Suns, it doesn't work.
But it's also given us, Andrew Luck to the Colts, you know, tanking works.
It's worked all throughout sports.
Carolina's unique.
They have a first year coach with seven years.
He's not getting fired.
They have an owner who wants to reboot.
Luke Keeckley just retired, and Greg Olson, they moved off him.
They could move off Cam in that division and essentially, without announcing it, tank and be number one or number two for the top two quarterbacks.
Luke Keekley retired, what can we do?
Greg Olson was old and expensive.
What can we do?
Cam Newton, we're not sure in the injury.
What can we do?
We trade him.
And you go two and 14?
I think there are rare opportunities where you can,
and I don't like the word tank, position yourself for a top two or three pick.
Am I nuts?
That's why I'd move off Cam.
It's a tough one for me.
I'm going to come from a player's perspective.
There are 53 players on that team.
Probably over, I beg to argue that over 30 of them are going to be in the last year of their contract this year.
So they're going to play hard.
They're going to want to show their worth.
Also, you have young players that you've drafted that you want to continue
to develop. You want to continue for McCaffrey to ascend into, you know, he hasn't really had to
experience a really, really like two and 14 type season. You want to kind of have a coach that you
want to establish his culture and you don't want his culture to be that he went to 14 in his first
year because they're going to be ups and downs if they do get a young quarterback from this
tanking. So you want to have him establish a culture. So that's why I think tanking would be bad.
And I mean, Carolina is a small market team. Not a lot of people are lining up to say when my deal
expires, I want to sign with the Panthers. So I think that you establish a culture,
you weed out the bad apples and you see like what guys that you have that are just,
that play hard, that fit the mold of what you want a Carolina Panther to be. And I think
you go from there. And as far as the quarterback situation, it'll all work out itself.
The draft isn't a for a given conclusion. It doesn't matter how high you go. So I think
that it would truly all work itself out. If you look at Drew Breeze was the last pick of the
first round or was he the first pick. First pick of the second round. Tom Brady, six round
pick, Dak Prescott.
Russell Wilson.
Russell Wilson.
Aaron Rogers, late first run pick.
So I don't really think that tanking is the way to go because I think I believe in building
a culture more than I do tanking for a player.
That's fair enough.
You buy Tom Brady to the Raiders?
I think that the offer may be there.
I don't know if Tom, I don't see the Raiders and look at them and say they're a quarterback
away from being a championship contention team.
That's a good point.
why would he want to rebuild?
Yeah, I don't think that.
I think L.A.
He comes and lives in L.A.
He's got a supermodal wife who can kind of reboot her career.
She's taking some time off to focus on their kids.
Or I don't really see anything else.
Maybe San Francisco, you know, he's a Bay Area kid.
And, you know, you go up there and you're close to L.A.
And I think that works for him.
Silicon Valley, your parents are up there.
Yeah, I just don't see rebuilding.
Okay, so I want to talk about a fashion question.
So I saw this today, and it may get bad press.
I think it's unbelievable.
So James Harden and Russell Westbrook were in GQ.
And they were talking about fashion.
And at one point, you know, it got a little, you know, boogey.
They're talking about how much they spend a year on fashion.
And it says here, Westbrook says, I think James spends $500,000 a year on fashion.
Hardin says, I bet Russ spends $300 to $350.
And I thought to myself, everybody.
talks about efficiency in the NBA, your efficiency field goal rating. Harden may be the most efficient
shopper ever. He makes $38 million as an NBA player, $9 million in shoes, $47 million a year, $4 million a
month, and spends $41,000 a month on clothes, not married, no kids. That I thought to myself,
and he's like a fashion guy in the NBA. You're a fashion guy. That's a good budget. That's a great
budget. That's nothing. No kids, no state tax, no wife, four million a year, and you spend
41 grand a month on clothes. Again, if you're not wealthy generationally, it sounds grotesque.
What do you spend a month on clothes? Man, I don't know. Your highest payroll days?
I don't know. I tried to keep it down. Also, James, I'm sure he gets a lot of free things. I'm sure
people give some a lot of things. I heard that this morning. Joy, how much you spend on clothes, Joy?
How much you spend? I do not spend $500,000 a year.
Do you think you spend a thousand a month on clothes?
Easy.
A thousand, no, definitely not.
Some months you spend two?
No, no.
You don't?
No.
So who's buying all these nice purses?
Well, I don't wear, first of all I wear sweatpants every day.
As soon as I leave here, I'm going to put sweatpants on.
She does.
She does.
She does.
She does.
And snow, it's fine.
Yeah, I mean, fine.
She had a minivan.
What about nice purses that I see you with?
I don't have a lot of purses.
I'm seriously.
I don't spend a lot of money.
And then I get dressed here, thankfully.
Fox, we have a wardrobe department.
So, yeah, I don't really.
spend that much. But these are these are
fashion icons. They're on the cover of GQ.
So to spend, what is it, for 40,000 a month
when he makes $4 million a month is a fashion
sports icon. He spends $300,000 a year on clothes.
That's a good budget. That's very reasonable.
I was like, I thought these guys all spent a million a month
on clothes. A month. I thought they were just, I mean, you watch these guys.
It's like, if I had that money and not married no kids or something,
I guess I'm not a clothes guy. That's max cash right there.
in your history in the NFL,
was there ever a teammate you had
that you thought spent big money on fashion?
I don't know, because I tried to stay out of other
people's pockets, but I mean, you look at some of these
clothes that people wear. Cam Newton.
You know, I'm sure, but I don't know.
I don't count other people's money.
That's a good way. That's what they said.
But like sneakers alone, sneakers are very
expensive. How much do those shoes cost?
I'm in your money.
These?
Those are lubitons.
Out of rack or two.
Yeah.
What's that again?
About a thousand.
A rack or two?
Yeah.
One or two thousand.
Wow.
For those shoes.
Take a close-up of those shoes.
That is unbelievable.
These are going to last up.
Hold on.
You want to see how much these costs?
I got these shoe shine the air day
in the Salt Lake City Airport.
You know what they cost me?
$64.
That's a good budget right there.
I'm so proud of it.
I've had them shoe shine seven times.
You know what they say.
Those shoes cost you a great.
Probably about $800.
Lord, that is.
A thousand with tax, maybe.
Does it, honestly, when you walk around, is it feel a little, give you a little, it feels pretty.
I don't spend money on shoes that often, though.
Okay.
That's all I'm saying is it's impressive in a respectful way.

Lance Zerline is a draft analyst for NFL.com.
NFL network.
Been covering this stuff for 20 years.
His dad was an offensive lineman in this league.
And I really rely on him.
He is, he's got his mock draft out on NFL.com of the 500 or so draftable players, he just told me he's got about 400 of the reports done.
He is sensational.
He has been as accurate as anybody who does these mock drafts.
And he just gave me some good tidbits off the air that I can't use.
I literally will not be able to sleep tonight via the Coward Global Satellite Network, my friend Lance Erlein.
Okay, this stuff, it is, this is Disneyland.
for me. Joy rolls her eyes
at me. She doesn't, she knows I go home all night
and watch mock drafts. All right, let's start
with this. I just
want to start with Burrell. Lance,
I like him, but I don't
see a lot of special. I
thought it was a special coaching staff
year offensive line for LSU.
Can you find a flaw
with him? Because everybody else loves him.
Yeah, I mean, every
player has flaws. Every player has
flaws, right? And I think the one thing
with Burrow that you want to
take a look at is his throws that he had troubles with in 2018. That's why you got to look at that 18 tape. I know it's really not good. But when you look at 19, I found an issue and I was looking at the quadrants of the field to see where is this super accurate quarterback? Where does he have any flaws? And what I found was when you look at intermediate throws outside the numbers, right? Con, pro throws. When you look at those pro throws, he was 21 of 43 with five touchdowns and four interceptions. And when you go back and look at those same throws in 2018, you
it was the same issue.
And what happens is he's a quarterback that throws with tremendous anticipation and accuracy,
much better this year than last year, but it's the same issue.
He has a below average arm by NFL standards.
Yes.
LSU fans and Cincinnati Bengals fans get really upset when you say that.
But I mean, you know, you just have to be honest and accurate with your assessment
so that you can get this right.
And Joe Burrell does not make that throw exceptionally well.
He's got to throw with great timing.
And he's got to throw with great accuracy because he's,
doesn't beat tight windows consistently. 21 of 43 would tell you that on those throws. And so what you
saw with LSU is they had their new offensive coordinator or the passing game coordinator
come in and Joe Brady said, well, let's not throw those throws. That's right. Let's not do what you did
last year. That's right. And you got to manage him. And you've got to manage Joe Burrell. The terrific
talent, my number one radio quarterback, Colin, but you've got to manage him a little bit. Is there a gap
between him and Justin Herbert.
Now, Herbert did not have LSU's talent.
He had a good old line at Oregon.
They did not have NFL wide receivers.
He's a little bigger.
I think he's got a stronger arm.
I think he is mobile, though he didn't show it.
Great at the Senior Bowl.
Carried him in the Rose Bowl.
I thought he carried far less talent to a Rose Bowl win.
Where does he rank for you?
Well, so in that Rose Bowl win, three great rushing touchdowns, right?
He did not hit 200 yards passing for the third game in a row.
Oregon State rivalry game, game against Utah. That was a big conference championship game.
And then, of course, the game against Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. Three straight games where he
didn't hit 200 yards. And yet when you turn on the tape, there's some stuff to really like about him.
He's a full field reader. He can get through all four progressions. He's got a big arm.
I think he can throw with some anticipation. And he is, he's a little underrated in terms of
his ability to get outside the pocket. I'm with you. I like a lot of what I see.
from Justin Herbert. Here's my concerns, Colin. Number one, not consistent in terms of the performance.
The performances weren't consistent. The game against Auburn was not a great game, for example,
that we're seeing right there. The second problem is, and I had this brought to my attention by an NFL
executive who said, Lance, go ahead and watch as much tape as you want and count how many times you see him make
off-schedule plays. He doesn't.
He doesn't. He doesn't. And that's the NFL, right? I mean, it's part of it.
Yeah, no, that's the knock on him that I think is incredibly fair is if it's, he's got to make something up.
Now, some of that says, I don't think he played with great receivers, but that's a very fair criticism.
Off schedule, off script.
He can be very, very average.
It's fair.
Right.
Okay.
But isn't it also fair that he's going to have much, much better talent throwing to, you know, in terms of wide receiver versus corner?
I absolutely think so.
Now, listen, I think we both like to, and we both have the same.
We know he's accurate and we know we have an interesting.
injury issue here that we're worried about a little bit. My theory has always been, and this
sounds ridiculous, and GMs would laugh at this, but if I can get 13 starts out of him a year,
I think he's good enough to win nine, give me a good backup to win one, and I feel like I can
win my division. He's my favorite. The injury stuff doesn't freak me out. Does it freak you
out? Well, so three things to concern yourself with inside of 12 months, and that's, you know,
two high ankle sprains that turn into procedures. And then, of
very serious injury that apparently, you know, he's been cleared on. We'll really get the full
look at the combine. It's a little bit of a concern for me, Colin, because what he does, what's
really good is that after two, I'd like to see him go to the third read a little more often.
I'd like to see him as a little more patient. But once he sees something open up, he's going to
go exploited. He'll take off. If you're going to be a dual threat quarterback, I need you to be
a little bit more durable than what we've seen with two. So I think it's a real concern. But you know
what? How about we also spotlight and focus his two and a half strong seasons in high leverage
games for Alabama? Because Joe Burrell's got one. Yes. That's what I said. They put him in as a
freshman against Georgia in the second half. He was dynamite. So this kid went from the best high school
quarterback to winning the national title in Alabama. He got no break, no transfer, no weight,
no rest. I totally agree. Okay. So when you look at this stuff and you look at all these players
and they're talking about, you know, it's the deepest, you know, the deepest draft wide receiver ever.
Is it hyperbole or is that position to you when they say that?
Are there, what, 30, 40, 40, 45 wide receivers that you could draft?
What are we looking at here?
Oh, I think the number's going to be in the, I mean, I think the number's going to be in the high 30s.
And I'm talking about, you know, I tear them off.
I don't think there's not going to be a Calvin Johnson.
I don't think, I'm not even sure there's going to be an Odell Beckham Jr.
you're in his prime when he's not being a problem type of guy.
But when you look at this draft, boy, C.D. Lamb and rugs with his speed and Jerry Judy
with his route running. And then you get into the big guys like Chase Claypool and Michael
Pittman there at USC. And then we look at Denzel Mems, who had a really good senior ball and
should run right there at a 4-3-9, a big guy that runs that speed. And then Jalen Rieger,
who did not have good quarterback play, but is as explosive as anyone. And you're going to see it
at the combine. You start to add it up, Colin, and you've got a bunch of different flavors of
ice cream. And I think, you know, my friend Bucky Brooks always says it takes a basketball team
at the wide receiving core. You've got a bunch of different types of guys. I've never seen
personally this much depth at the different position types of wide receivers as we've seen now.
Speed guys, big guys, possession guys, slot guys. They're loaded at every single one of those
types of wide receiver. Okay. So I have your mock draft.
I'm going to, for my radio audience, TV audience will see it.
This is to me the most.
I just saw Mel Kuyper's today.
I love Mel, but he had Tua going to the Lions.
I don't think it's a bad move, but I don't think it's going to happen.
So your mock draft, I honestly, this makes sense to me.
Joe Burrow, Chase Young, Lions get a corner,
giants who need defensive help and have a couple of nice defensive linemen
with Dexter Lawrence and Leonard Williams go and get Isaiah Simmons from the
do-all linebacker for Clemson.
Two goes to Miami.
Chargers take Justin Herbert.
Then it's offense and defensive linemen.
Let me just throw a kid out to you.
I had a scout tell me, keep your eye on Jordan Love, bad mechanics that can be corrected,
didn't have great coaching in college.
He said, just don't be shocked if Jordan Love goes way late first round.
What do you make of him?
Well, I think Jordan Love could go earlier than way late.
I mean, Jordan Love, to me, I had him number two behind two of this summer when I watched.
And that's definitely ahead of Burrough and definitely ahead of the other guys.
I thought Jordan Love looked terrific.
He lost his head coach, his offensive coordinator, both starting wide receivers, his starting
tight end, a starting running back, and four of his starting offensive linemen.
This year, he had 20 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.
It was a disappointing season.
The tape was disappointing.
The accuracy was disappointing.
The decision-making was disappointing.
but I can't forget last year's tape.
I know that guy lives in there somewhere.
So what you want to do is find out where he is in his headspace
and find out whether or not where you can get him to that level.
And let's remember he had a lot of things working against him this year.
I just went through a long laundry list of them.
Jordan Love has first round talent.
My grade on him is more like a high six two,
which means eventual starter, but it comes with some caveats.
And I think he's maybe even more of a 6-5 boomer bus player.
I really think, you know, we talk about these numbers.
And you can, you know, I've got a new grading scale that is the same as Daniel Jeremiah.
As we're using a pro-style grading scale, a 6.5, Colin, is a boomer bus player.
And I think that's what Jordan Love is.
He's either going to be a bust and won't work out or he's going to be an impressive talent
that people say, man, I wish we would have taken a chance on that.
Okay, I got to ask you.
And I know these are uncomfortable.
Who's overrated?
Who's on everybody's top 10?
Because I got mine, and I don't want to say it publicly.
Who is your little overrated guy that you think is overvalued on all these mock drafts and talk shows?
Well, okay, so one guy that we talked a little bit about, Austin Jackson, I'm hearing his name a lot.
USC left tackle.
Yeah, and I've heard him mentioned as a guy that could sneak into the first round.
He got worked in the bowl game.
He got worked in the bowl game.
Eponisa really took it to him.
And I think he is a very raw player who's got a lot of footwork issues that he's got to get corrected.
And I think, you know, he's a guy that might be a little bit overrated right now.
I tell you another one, and this is not popular, and I've got a pretty good grade on him.
But seating lamb makes me a little bit nervous.
And I say that because he's not a great route runner.
He's going to run into four-fives, chances are.
A lot of scouts expect him to be right around a four-five, too.
He's kind of an inside, outside player, good with the ball in his hands.
He's a fluid playmaker.
But I don't know that I love a player like that in the 8 to 12 range.
Those guys I typically, you know, are more like Nelson Aguilar was coming out of school
where you thought, well, he could do a lot of those same things.
Lamb's a better player.
And I've got a good grade on Lamb.
But he makes me a little more nervous than, say, a Jerry Judy,
where I feel more comfortable with the Jerry Judy than I do with a CD Lamb.
I think C.D. Lamb, who's number one on a lot of teams board at wide receiver,
I think he may be a tad overrated.
That's not to call him a good player that didn't say he's not a good player.
I think he's a tad overrated.
And then, you know, in terms of another one,
because I think a lot of these guys are starting to slide into where they belong.
Oh, boy, I'll give you one that actually goes in the other direction.
I think if Etienne from Clemson, if he would have come out,
I think he would have eventually been the first running back off of the way.
board. And I was really surprised. I think J.K. Dobbins is overrated. There's one for you. Ohio State.
I've got J.K. is, yeah, I think he's a third round running back. And I thought I was, I was really
excited to watch him. What I saw was a good back, but not one that has the same amount of burst that I
was expecting, the same explosiveness. I think he's a good back. I question if he's going to really
create for himself the same way he did against these, you know, against these six-man boxes that
he saw a lot of times in college.
So I think JK may be just a little bit.
I might take him a little later into the second round.
Good stuff.
It's a deep running back draft too.
All right.
Lance Surline, good stuff.
Listen, I could do this whole day.
I would invite Lance over my house.
I know you could.
Honestly, I just make a chili and we sit there for seven hours and I'd ask you
about guards from Wisconsin.
Yes.
I love it.
All right.
Thank you, Lance.
Good stuff as always.
Thanks, man.
Thanks, Colin.
By the way, computer systems and cars, the new normals.
It's expensive.

Joy Taylor with the news.
No.
Turn on the news.
This is the Herdline News.
Well, we're not on the honest watch yet.
Hmm.
But...
Are you sure about that?
He's saying some things that are stern folks, you know?
He said that whether he saves the Bucks long term
will greatly depend on how the team is performing,
but he also has two brothers in the league right now.
And when he was asked about the possibility of playing together one day,
he said, I think that'd be amazing.
Obviously, we'd spend more time together.
I'm 100% sure my mom would love that.
But if we could team up on a team in Milwaukee, L.A., whatever.
It's 70 degrees here today.
That'd be awesome.
Of course players want to play in a winter league in L.A.
It's 70 degrees.
Well, one brother is with him in Milwaukee.
The other one is with the Lakers.
Yes, it is 70 degrees here.
in California. I was just in Chicago.
The weather is nicer here.
It was four degrees. I love Chicago.
I mean, I love Chicago, too.
It's my wife's favorite city.
But you can't blame stars for going, let's see.
I'm an NBA star. It's a winter league.
And oh, by the way, they got movie studios everywhere.
And I'm, the NBA is a star-driven league.
You can't blame players for one.
There's a reason for the top 10 players play here now.
I mean, I don't know if Janus is that guy that cares about the movie studio.
and maybe not even the weather, to be honest with you.
I think for him it is more about winning.
I think he's sort of in that Kevin Durant space
where he is a star, he is a superstar in the league,
he is one of the top players in the league,
and he hasn't gone that championship yet,
but he doesn't really have the pressure
to have that championship yet because he's in Milwaukee,
similar to what Kevin Durant was dealing with
when he was with Oklahoma City.
There's a little bit of a parallel there.
He's very well-liked.
You can't really be too critical
Louisvianis, you feel like he is obviously
the best player on the team, who's
the second best player, who are the role players
around him, is it really his fault, he's not winning
championships, but are we going to judge his career
about whether he wins championships or not?
All of this stuff is on the table
for if they don't win a championship
this year, which
they're not going to. I don't think that they will.
Right, so the pressure is not on him
yet, but once that starts to become the
conversation, which I think it will, similar to
what it did with Kevin Durant, then
I do think he's going to consider
leaving. I don't think he's in the same situation
as some other
players who haven't come up in AAU. It's not
about him wanting to team up. I think he is
genuinely one of those competitors that
absolutely wants to win a championship
and knows that he's going to need
high-level talent around him when you look at
what he's going to have to go up against. So
that said also I think he might
want to play with his brothers. And if
L.A. can make that happen?
I end up being that situation. Nice place to live, L.A.
It's wonderful place to live. So the Rockets
continue to show their commitment to small ball this season.
will reportedly sign Jeff Green and Damari Carroll to the two remaining roster spots.
Green will sign a 10-day contract to rejoin his former Thunder teammates, James Hardin and Russell
Westbrook. And Carol will join the team upon clearing waivers after agreeing to a buyout with the Spurs.
This is all being reported by Woj. Green played 30 games with the Jazz, average 7.8 points per game.
And Carol was with Spurs last year.
I don't think they win a playoff series. I honestly don't.
I think they do.
Do you think they win two?
I mean, I think it depends on how,
look, there's a lot that can happen in the last half of the season.
You have to see who's healthy at the end of the season.
Greg, Greg, Houston, a fine city who does everything above board.
Where's Houston right now in the standings, Tui?
They are fifth right now.
They put a jazz in the first round.
It's over.
They're not winning that series.
It's over.
There's no way they can beat the Jazz have more good shooters.
The Jazz, I think, have a better coach.
Jazz are great at home.
Oh, the jazz will run through them.
Run through them.
Hot knife through margarine.
Jazz will beat them in five games.
What? A gentleman sweep?
Yeah.
No.
Let's make them.
Series Go seven.
I will upgrade your next flight to first class.
Okay. I'm in.
Joy, I don't want to tell them that the Rockets won in Utah two weeks ago
without Harden Westbrook and Gordon.
Don't give any more information, Tui.
I'm getting a first class ticket.
Houston has no chance in the playoffs.
to be you watch Utah Utah's no fun they got four guys that can hit a three and sometimes they all get hot at once
I'm gonna take Houston in that series finally in the series yes okay honestly I feel bad as I don't think that
as your mentor I'm stealing money I think that Houston isn't a position to win a championship I can't
but yes they're going to win the first round series oh if it's Utah five games
only because Utah is full of nice people will they let it go five
It will be the ultimate gentleman sweep.
So what do I have to do if I lose?
Just be shamed?
What do you get somebody that has everything?
I don't know.
How about this?
I tell you that you're right.
All day.
I'll make you some chili.
All right, I'm for that.
No vegan chili.
I get that at home.
How about we'll talk NFL draft three hours one day.
Offensive guards from the big 10.
All right, it's cool, because I'll just talk about Burrow and irritate you.
All right.
Finally, a lot of MLB players.
have been talking about the Astros recently and a typically quiet Mike Trout shared
his thoughts on the scandal.
You know like I said I lost some respect from some guys. Obviously, you know, half a lot of stuff
that comes out you got to see if it's true or not. I don't agree with the the punishments,
you know, the player is not, you know, getting anything. You know, there was a player driven,
you know, thing. You know, it's tough. You're taking the trophy away, taking the rings away.
I think they should definitely do something.
I don't know what, but to just to cheat like that and not get anything, it's, it's sad to see for sure.
Look, I understand players being upset about it and losing respect for other players.
I don't agree with none and the players getting no punishment.
They were actually out there on the field.
By the way, for the record, I am four.
I wouldn't have a problem with Manfred suspending Altovae for 15, 20 games.
But this whole thing about take the series trophy away is nonsense.
It's nonsense.
Silliness, it's nonsense.
It's, it's, it's, this is not the NCAA.
There's no death penalty.
It's not Memphis basketball.
We're not wiping away records.
Yes.
Taking back trophies.
No, this is, this is professional sports.
Yeah.
You can't be just cast the first stone, all right?
People have been stealing signs forever.
Yes, this was an elaborate, over the top.
And by the way, institutionalized.
Yeah. And the GM got whacked and will never get another job.
Cheating scandal.
I do think some players should be punished.
but everyone is being very dramatic.
Yes.
And very glass house about this.
This is a thing is Twitter is, it's the outrage blender.
And you just hope as a broadcaster, you don't get thrown into it.
This is like, folks, steroids lasted 15 years.
It never ended.
I'm not saying this wasn't bad.
Of course I was bad.
And they should be punished.
But to go as far as a takeaway championships, where does that stop?
It doesn't.
It doesn't.
You have to be very careful when you set precedents like this.
And listen, I wouldn't want to be the commissioner enough to make that decision,
but I am certainly not taking away a championship.
It's out of the question.
Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Heard Lye News.
It's called Tominoes, Domino's and Tom Brady.
How will the Dominoes fall if Brady leaves New England?
And for the record, even the people who think he's coming back say, now,
if there's not something in the next week,
we've got an issue.
So we'll play the game of Tom andos coming up next.

So Tom Brady, there are varying reports today.
And people that are not like sloppy blog guy, like real journalist, Jeff Darlington, are like, it's under 50 percent. Brady may not come back. Brady, it's not really about money at this point. It's about does New England, do they have the pieces? He doesn't want to go back. And Mohamed Sunoos is his go-to guy. He likes Mohammed Sunnoo. He should be his four, not as one or his two. There's a story out today. Mock draft. Mel Kuiper has New England taking a quarterback with their first pick, which is very realistic. And they don't have a second pick. That is Brayette.
80's worst fear, which is I resign and you don't get me pieces that I need.
We need a tight end.
We don't have any in the cupboard.
We need a one receiver.
Now, I think the solution is go get Stefan Diggs.
He's unhappy in Minnesota, trade a first round pick.
Edelman becomes your two.
Nikiel Harry is your three.
Mohammed's the news.
You're four.
Jacoby Myers is your five.
You got your receivers.
Find another, you know, reasonably priced tight end free agent market are in the draft.
So today, if Tom leaves New England, we're going to play.
a game called Tominoes.
It will begin a series of
AFC teams positioning
themselves. Where will quarterbacks go?
Let's play along.
So.
So Brady is the biggest domino
of the NFL offseason.
How would Tom Brady signing with a specific
team affect other quarterbacks in the market?
It's time to play Tominoes.
All right.
Domino Onejoy.
Brady signs with the Raiders.
Okay.
They are going to offer him
60 million for two years.
Warm weather, quarterback-friendly coach, and a star running back, and a top-wide tight-in.
So let's just say that happens.
The story is now that he's going to list, and he's going to get the biggest offer from the Raiders.
So Domino number two, if that happened, I think Belichick goes and gets Derek Carr.
He's the best quarterback in the roster.
He's 28 years old,
101 passer rating,
70% completion rate.
He's very efficient.
You know, the knock on him is that he's,
you know, he's not put the franchise on my back guy,
but they've won multiple Super Bowls with Brady.
And a story two years ago said that the Patriots don't think Tom
is capable of carrying a bad franchise.
Domino number three, I think Ryan Tannihill signs with the Titans.
Listen, he had the highest pass rating last year in the NFL,
and I think people are going to look at Brady if he did leave New England
and say, what we can't be is unstable at quarterback.
I think Tom leaving New England gets Tannahill a nice contract.
All right, Joe Burrow goes domino four to the Bengals.
Again, I just think they're going to draft him.
They're a stubborn franchise.
They're taking him, and Burrow doesn't have the leverage.
To, or at this point, the guts to say no to Ohio.
All right, Domino, five, I think this is, we both believe this.
Two goes to the Miami Dolphins.
He's a game-changing talent.
They got three first-round picks.
He's a tremendous leader.
He's the kind of human being you can build around.
Injuries, give me a 13 games a year.
This is the pick I would make.
Domino, six, the Chargers.
Okay, Brady would now be in my division.
I'm not passing on a quarterback.
I got Mahomes in my division.
I got now Brady, if he's the Raiders in my division,
the Chargers to me are going to go get Justin Herbert, who is big, strong, mobile, and with their weapons, good enough.
Domino 7, kind of predictable.
Colts now feel like, all right, Derek Carr's with New England.
I got Tom Brady with Oakland.
I think the Colts say we got to grow up at quarterback.
This offensive line's young.
They're not going to be here forever.
They get Philip Rivers.
Now it gets interesting.
Here are my two crazy dominoes.
Domino 8.
Teddy Bridgewater to the Redskins.
Okay, I want to hear me out.
So Drew Brees, as you reported,
it's coming back.
So they're not going to pay for both.
Washington needs stability.
Alex Smith is done playing.
That's what I'm told.
He's not going to play.
He's going to do front office stuff if he wants to.
He adds stability.
Also, Dwayne Haskins, you're not paying him
anything. And there are questions about maturity. Who is the most mature quarterback on the market
that you know comes in, learns the playbook, and guides the young guy. Teddy Bridgewater.
You can probably get him for $20 million. So you're only paying the quarterback position
a reasonable fee. Okay? So you bring in Teddy to start and to teach Duane Askins, this is how
it's done. And then Domino 9, Cam Newton to the Steelers. Wow. Now, my
My prediction is based on this. Big Ben's health is still very much in the air.
Who is the quarterback in the league that is big, active, sometimes struggles with accuracy,
but is a big player receiver that does create a little drama that a franchise like Pittsburgh
can handle?
It's Cam Newton.
And Carolina is going to reboot with their new owner.
Keatley retires.
Olson's gone.
They move off Cam.
and they win three games and get the number one or number two pick.
I think they're rebooting in Carolina.
Cam Newton to the Steelers makes too much sense.
Very interesting.
They can handle big personalities.
They've done that before.
He's the closest replica to Big Ben, a playmaking quarterback.
You don't have to pay him a fortune.
I don't think the market's going to be huge for him
because I think most teams that need a quarterback
are going to get the maturity of Teddy or they're going to go draft one.
We got five first round draftable quarterbacks.
These, this is my Tominoes.
I love all of it except for Burrow going to the Bengals,
and I don't know what direction of the Patriots go in.
Doesn't Derek Carter, he's the best quarterback in the market?
If Tom Brady left tomorrow.
Yeah, no, I mean, it's...
Belichick at 68?
I can see Belichick with Derek are.
I mean, tomorrow, he's accurate.
He has 100-pass rating.
accurate. By the way, yeah, he is he's coachable. I mean, the knock on him in he's not kind of a
tough alpha. Belichick's not into dealing with a lot of nonsense. Derrick car situation is so strange,
isn't it? I don't like him. I mean, I don't always love him, but I like him. If a guy can
complete 70% of his throws in this league and he's coachable and he can spin it. I mean, even if he's,
like, he's your guy, right? With these Brady rumors, wouldn't someone come out like, no, this is not the
case. Derek Carr is our franchise quarterback. Well, I was told this yesterday by somebody who is
close to the Raider staff, a former NFL scout, he said, Mayock thinks they can do better at
quarterback. Gruden is hot and cold on him. Mayock thinks they need to draft a quarterback,
thinks they need to address quarterback. It's not that he doesn't like Derek Cart. He thinks with Patrick
my homes in that division, they can do better.
Well, they probably may have to do better.
All right. Speak for Yourself is right around the corner.
