Starting point is 00:00:39 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on. A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman. Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me. What you know. Is somebody coming after me?

Are we ready to go? Both of us last night. I came in this morning and Joy is like, man, I didn't sleep last night.
Starting point is 00:02:55 Zero sleep. And I didn't sleep last night. But you know what? We're just going to go. We got three hours. Who needs sleep? It's about to be the holidays. By the way, Jenny.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Tafton and I have like the same dress on two different colors. You look great Jenny. Happy Thanksgiving. It's Thanksgiving week. You need sleep. And one hour from now, I've never done this before. Blazing five. A pre- Thanksgiving, blazing five in one hour. I want to start with this. LeBron and the Lakers play in Cleveland
Starting point is 00:03:21 tonight. Maybe you've heard LeBron's from Akron, played in Cleveland, gave him a lot of stuff they never had, like relevance. Tonight, who knows how Ohio and specifically Cleveland will act? it should be a parade for LeBron. The game should start.
Starting point is 00:03:38 There should be a 10-minute standing ovation and then forfeit the game, Cleveland, give it to the Lakers, and then everybody can just go home. That's what should happen. The point of this game is really inconsequential. It's irrelevant. This is a lifetime achievement award.
Starting point is 00:03:58 LeBron came to Cleveland in 2003. From that day until his last game, as a calf, they won 64% of his games. When he left or missed a game, they won less than 30% of their games. Let's be honest, Thanksgiving's tomorrow. Why don't you thank him tonight? Thanks, LeBron, for the title. Thanks for the relevance.
Starting point is 00:04:26 Thanks for the school. Thanks for the economy. Thanks for the five trips to the finals. For the record, he did not dump you. He dumped Dan Gilbert. Oh, you remember the letter. It's embarrassing. I haven't brought it up in a year, so why not?
Starting point is 00:04:45 It is Thanksgiving, after all. Like to thank Dan for that letter, the worst ever written by an owner, a billionaire, an adult, a team owner, wrote it. And a good therapist will often tell you, hey, sometimes you should write stuff and sleep on it. No, he posted it. He posted it.
Starting point is 00:05:00 It was embarrassing. Calling out LeBron for having the audacity after seven years, Tino go to Pat Riley, D. Wade, Chris Bosch, and Aqua Water. How crazy of LeBron after seven years carrying a franchise and they couldn't get him another All-Star. My gut feeling tonight, the crowd will be 85, 15, 80, 20 in favor of LeBron. And that is good enough. That illustrates achievement.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Let's be honest. 20% of the people you don't even want to get caught in a car with in America. certainly not an arena, certainly not a car or a room. 20% of the people don't get what they don't get. Ohio, though, mostly gets it. In the last 15 presidential elections, Ohio, 15 for 15, they voted for the guy who won. It's a state that mostly has the right vibe about the moment.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Let's be honest, too, about the first breakup with LeBron James. You know, the one you burned his jersey. I understood it to some degree. That was like, whoa! my high school sweetheart broke up with me. She's my girl. She's mine, right? I got that a little bit.
Starting point is 00:06:10 But the second breakup, let's be honest about that. The most recent breakup. Cleveland, there were three parts to that when he came back to Cleveland. A, glad to have you back. B, sorry about the burning the jersey stuff. and C, thank you for giving us what you promised. Don't boo say thank you. Thanks, LeBron, for relevance, mattering, the economy, the school.
Starting point is 00:06:46 They don't win much in Cleveland, and they certainly don't win titles. And let's be honest, outside of that presidential stat, they're not all that relevant. Tonight they have a chance to redeem themselves a little. Two words. Thank you before Thanksgiving. Let me shift to this. Speaking of that day tomorrow, happy Thanksgiving to all of you,
Starting point is 00:07:15 drive safe and be safe. Cowboys will play Washington. Yesterday, Jerry Jones owns the Dallas Cowboys. He was asked about the Monday night football game, Rams Chiefs, that crazy, crazy football game, and all the offense and a thousand yards and a million touchdowns. And Jerry was asked if the Dallas Cowboys could ever look like that in the near future. I don't know if you were able to see the Rams Chiefs game last night,
Starting point is 00:07:44 but it was an offensive showing. When you look at your team in the way they're playing now, do you see yourself able to compete on the level of these two teams from last night? I liked that. Back in Ramos days, we were in shootouts. and we could shoot out with the best of them. Having said all of that, I think that we can compete type of game, I believe, and that you've got to score 54 points to win a ball game.
Starting point is 00:08:23 And nothing we've seen says we can play at that kind of level. It's interesting. I want to talk about sustainability. Now, the Cowboys years ago, remember that photo with Romo and Witten and Des and all those guys? They thought that was going to be sustainable for years. And it was not. Romo got hurt. Dez got crazy.
Starting point is 00:08:41 I'm going to show you some pictures of offenses and teams we thought were sustainable for years and years. The Seattle Seahawks. People thought that was sustainable. It was not. Pete was in his mid-60s. He'd come out of college and nailed his first three drafts. He wasn't going to sustain finding superstars in the fifth sixth round, third, fourth, fifth, sixth round. They paid too much money on the defensive side, too much noise, and it blew up.
Starting point is 00:09:10 six years ago, we thought that was a decade dynasty. The San Francisco 49ers, Kaepernick, Harbaugh, we thought that too. Five, six years ago, it was going to last a long time. But Kackernick was always more runner than thrower. Harbaugh didn't get along with the GM, Trent Balke, who has a huge ego or the owner, Jed York. And in the end, Jim left. It was not sustainable. Let's talk about the Green Bay Packers. If I'd have told you after that first Super Bowl,
Starting point is 00:09:40 yeah, they'd go in our seven, eight years. We wouldn't get back there. Frankly, don't get very close. You just said, what? But let's be honest. Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rogers, never been an ideal fit. McCarthy more of a far-g guy.
Starting point is 00:09:56 Let's be honest. It's not a free agent market. Let's be honest. Historically, they're cheap. So as Jerry talks about the Cowboys, I want to talk about sustainability in the NFL. We watched Monday Night Football. Here's what I believe is
Starting point is 00:10:10 sustainable in the NFL. Both the Rams and the Chiefs. Let's start with the Rams. Great owner, great coach, great young quarterback, early adapters, L.A. Market, building a stadium,
Starting point is 00:10:27 free agency hotbed. They will have to pay golf soon, but the way it's set up, they'll be able to let go of your endomic and sous, your Akeb to Lebes, when that happens. This is sustainable for a decade. leadership, owner, less need, GM, coach, quarterback. The Kansas City Chiefs, let's talk about them.
Starting point is 00:10:48 I believe that is sustainable. Excellent, stable ownership from the Hunt family. Andy Reed, one of the great play designers of my life. Patrick Mahomes, a world-class far-of-like talent. Middle of the country, not a lot of noise, not a lot of glare. They can kind of keep themselves. Andy Reed, head down, design plays, make plays. Rams, chief, sustainable.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Let me give you two teams in the NFL that a lot of people like, I don't think are sustainable. I think they'll be more like the Niners, more like the Romo Cowboys, more like the Seahawks. Two teams in the NFL like that. Number one, the Chicago Bears. I do not think they're going to be this shiny and fun in five years. Number one, I think Trubisky's a limited quarterback. Number two, this is a historically dysfunctional ownership front office group. Number three, it's a lot of smoking mirrors.
Starting point is 00:11:48 It's a lot of tricks. It's a lot of copperfield. It's a lot of optical illusion. The league has historically caught up to that. And the other team is the Dallas Cowboys. I don't think they'll be terrible, but I think they have a limited quarterback. They have an impulsive, overly loyal owner. they have an offensive line.
Starting point is 00:12:09 Anybody notice it's getting a little worse every year, a little more banged up every year, a little older every year. And by the way, despite the fact, they're paying DAC less than a Seattle disc jockey. They don't have any cap space, and that's generally not the way it works. The Jets aren't paying their quarterback.
Starting point is 00:12:28 A ton of cap space. It's the way it works. Bad teams, ton of cap space. Cowboys are average. Impulsive overreact. loyal owner, limited quarterback, older O'Line, not paying DAC or Zique, and they still don't have cap space. We think in this league, even going back to that Jerry Jones picture, stuff is sustainable always, and it is not. We thought that cowboy team was. It wasn't. Romo fell apart
Starting point is 00:12:58 physically. Des sort of fell apart emotionally and physically. Jason Witten retired. and none of those guys are around anymore. Coming up next, so they came out with the latest college football rankings last night, and I don't want to talk about Alabama, best team in the country, Clemson, second best team in the country, or Notre Dame. I believe, easily the third best team in the country. I want to talk about that fourth spot, and who should get in, people are. We're being hypocrites and they also have a short memory and why this team should get in. That's coming up.

Starting point is 00:14:25 put in the code herd, 24-24-24 deal, buck a rose, 24 multicolored roses for $24, $1,800flowers.com, code herd. Let's, let me ask you something. If you're hiring a person, today. And I've had to hire a couple people in my life. Resumays will get those people in the door. You get 30 resumes. Okay, these four people, man, women, they'll get you in the door. But you don't hire off a resume. You never have. You hire off the person you can look in the eye and go, they're going to get it done. Not the most impressive. They're going to get it done. In fact, the half dozen times I've had to hire, the most impressive resume has never gotten the job. I hear a lot about that resume thing.
Starting point is 00:15:09 College football playoff poll came out last night. I don't want to talk about Bama Clemson or Notre Dame. They're good, best three I've seen, and they're not losing. Let's talk about the other teams that all have very similar resumes that are all trying to get the next spot. Michigan, Georgia, Oklahoma, LSU, Washington State, UCF. Last night, once again, people I know at ESPN, We're arguing about resume, resume, resume.
Starting point is 00:15:39 Let's pick resume. And one smart man said, it's not about resume. All the resumes here are splitting hairs. Jesse Palmer. Here's my problem with LSU. We're discussing one of these teams making the four seed to play BAM in the 75. I've seen LSU Bama. Doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:15:57 29-0, yes, it does. And as a fan, as a committee, I don't want to see that again. So I don't want to see it either, but. The committee has to go resume and who's better. UCF. They can also go subjective. UCF is the team that should go. Put UCF in.
Starting point is 00:16:14 Joy Galloway is wrong. Joy Galloway owned a company. He would not hire a man or a woman to run it based on resume. When Boston General has a surgeon opening, they all have resumes that are shiny and glossy and amazing. But that chief of staff looks a surgeon, one of them. man or woman in the eye and says, that's who I'm going to put in charge of my heart clinic. It's not the resume. It's the interview. By the way, all these teams are splitting hair.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Oklahoma is the one you should hire for the job. Okay? Oklahoma has three things that we know give Alabama of trouble. Mobile quarterback, elite offensive coach, and playmakers. By the way, last time Oklahoma Bama played, oh, I forgot, Oklahoma won. Colin, what about their defense? Wasn't any good then either. The Oklahoma defense, they were in the Big 12. People were scoring a ton on them. Baylor scored in the 40s. A crappy Texas team scored in the high 30s. Schools in the middle of nowhere. Tech. Scoring 30, 35. That great defense Oklahoma, Oh, it wasn't great either.
Starting point is 00:17:31 But they had the offensive mind, they had the quarterback that could move, and they had the playmakers, everything they have now. By the way, Oklahoma leads the nation in points. Nobody's shutting them out. Okay, nobody's beating Bama, in my opinion. But Michigan quarterback, Shea Patterson, faced Alabama last year. Do a little homework. He lost 66 to 3.
Starting point is 00:17:58 Michigan's offensive line. of all those potential four spots is the weakest. Shea Patterson blown out by him. Stop talking about resumes. Everybody that applies to be an astronaut at NASA, they're all qualified. You're splitting hairs. Who are you putting in the vessel?
Starting point is 00:18:18 Everybody that applies to John Hopkins, UCLA Medical Center, Boston General, the Cleveland Clinic, they're all qualified. Stop talking about resumes. They all have great resumes. What man or woman do you look in the eye and say, they'll get it done? I've seen all these teams play Alabama before. One got the job done.
Starting point is 00:18:41 Oklahoma. Star Mobile quarterback. 50 points a game. Playmakers. A coach NFL teams want. When you have a bunch of people, nobody ever, ever ask yourself if you've ever hired. Do you give the best job to the resume? No, you give the best job to the interview.
Starting point is 00:19:01 The person who you think over a cocktail at the end of the night. She could really get it done. She could really run my company. He's pretty smart. Maybe not the smartest, but I got a feeling in the room, in crisis, he'd be a step-up dude. She'd be a step-up woman. Jesse Palmer's right. I've seen a lot of these games with Alabama.
Starting point is 00:19:22 I've also seen Bama and, again, Oklahoma, run-around quarterback, mobile quarterback, offensive playmakers NFL O'line. Guys in the league, that's a game. Not saying they win, that's a game. Joy Taylor with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news.
Starting point is 00:19:41 So, Saints number one in herd hierarchy, they're rolling right now. They signed veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall to a one-year deal after Des Bryant went down with the injury. And this is the seventh team that Marshall has been on in his career. Wow. leaving quite the impression on him. He said, it's a machine here from Coach Payton to Drew and everyone else. It's impressive.
Starting point is 00:20:03 It's my 13th season, nine offensive coordinators, my seventh team, and I've never seen anything like this. Marshall started the season with the Seahawks. He had 11 catches for 136 yards and a touchdown in Seattle. And, of course, Saints have won nine straight and our first in the NFC South. But this is an interesting quote from him, being that he has been on so many teams and been around so many offensive systems. Well, there's a lot of good and a lot of average in the world in every business.
Starting point is 00:20:29 There's very little great, and the Saints offense is great. They have a great offensive coach. They have a great quarterback. They have two great running backs. They have great. Great is a very rare commodity. And New Orleans offense for about the last 12 years has mostly been great. To me, the MVP race right now is between Breeze and the Holmes.
Starting point is 00:20:47 And I'm giving the slight nod to two breeze right now. Obviously, there's a little, a few more games to play to see how that, you know, works out, hands out, but the Saints are playing amazing football right now. So Marco Fultz has been having some obvious shooting issues this season. Yesterday, his agent informed the 76ers that Fultz would see a shoulder specialist in New York to address the issue. However, GM Mountain Brand said that this caught him off guard. There's nothing that we saw medically that didn't allow him to play. He played last night.
Starting point is 00:21:20 He played two nights ago. Ever since Jimmy Butler came and he wasn't starting, I felt he played pretty well. I was proud of him the way he bounced back from a lot of things. I had July Monday. He said that's the best time they could get an appointment. So I'm like, not like they might move it up for him,
Starting point is 00:21:37 but I guess not until Monday's the appointment. By the way, Elton Brand has not aged a day from Duke. He's the youngest-looking 40-year-old guy to the planet. You know what? This is not a medical thing. It's a mental thing. But sometimes the mental thing you go to the medical thing to fix the mental thing.
Starting point is 00:22:00 I don't know what's happening here. It's definitely the yips. I've never seen it. I've never seen it. I've seen golfers get yps. Baseball players get yips. Chuck Knoblock, Steve Sacks, St. Louis Cardinal guy, ain't Rick Ankeel.
Starting point is 00:22:12 I've seen, I've seen David Duval. I've seen guys in golf. They just can't put. They can't chip. I've never seen a basketball player, a shooter that can't shoot. I've never seen it. I mean, sometimes it's just all in your minds.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Like, to me, what separates great athletes from average athletes is the mental aspect of everything. Like, LeBron is an incredible physical specimen, but there are other humans the size of LeBron James. Other guys in the league that look like.
Starting point is 00:22:38 Right, they can't play basketball as well as he does. His knowledge of the game and ability to make those decisions disciplines, yeah, separates him from everyone else. And it's, that is what separates professionals from the guys that can't make it to the league. It's, sometimes obviously it's your body, but for the most part,
Starting point is 00:22:54 Everyone's a great athlete. Kobe never had the NBA best body. Dwayne Wade had the perfect, you know, like Kobe's mind and passion and drive and commitment was what separated Kobe. I'm not saying that Markov-Poltz isn't committed, but like this is a serious thing. Can you imagine doing this and not being able to talk? Like, I'm a talker for a living. And I came in one day and I was like, I've lost my voice a couple times.
Starting point is 00:23:19 But it's laryngitis. But I mean, it's very problematic. This is a basketball player who shoots. and he can't now shoot. I don't know. And it's apparent that the Sixers don't know what's going on either. Isn't that weird? He's right, though.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Like, maybe you bump a couple people up so he can get his appointment in. You know, maybe just like come to his house or something, figure it out. All right. Finally, last Monday, Kevin Durant and Jamon Green had the argument at the end of regulation against the clippers. They say they have since squashed any issues, but Durant admitted that he was rattled by all the media attention. the night after the scuffle, the Warriors played the Hawks, and Durant spoke about how it was still affecting him.
Starting point is 00:23:58 He said during the game, I'm like, bleep, I'm going to have to say something about this. You've got so much BS that's being thrown your way that I didn't create. If I created all this stuff, then I couldn't be out here talking like this, but I didn't create any of this. I'm just out here playing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:14 It's just amazing to me. In the last week, Kevin Durant just been on all these battles and socials. There's something going on here that's starting to brew. And that's probably why the rest of the locker room is having such a hard time moving on from this. How do you react to him? Well, there's got to be more. It can't just be Katie and Draymond because if it was, then the two of them, everyone would be like, all right, y'all two work it out.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Like, we have basketball to play. But it's clearly affecting the entire team. Steph isn't around. Never forget. After they won the title last year, David West, the veteran who retired came out and said, you have no idea. all the stuff going on in the last year in this locker room. And that shouldn't be too surprising because they are really good at managing media. I mean, you look at the Patriots,
Starting point is 00:25:01 that's why we've talked so much about Belichick and Brady this year because you never hear anything from them. There's obviously stuff going on with every organization. But this is a thing that I think Kevin needs to understand. When you are the champion, something like this is going to get talked about incessantly. Like, what is the media? Like, this is a big deal. Everyone's coming for you.
Starting point is 00:25:21 This matters. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd Line News. A former NFL defensive player of the year, a three-time pro bowler, 40 sacks in his first three seasons, drafted by the Chargers in round one. This is a good team.
Starting point is 00:25:37 They've moved up the interstate. Sean Merriman, the former all-pro linebacker joining us, haven't seen him in a while. You know, Joy just mentioned, and I'm not a big awards guy, I would give Drew Brees the MVP this year. I mean, literally, if you think about Mahomes has had seven, turnovers against the Rams and the Patriots. Drew's had one all year. I mean, so you get all the upside without any of the downside.
Starting point is 00:25:59 You actually played with Drew for one year in San Diego. I did. So let's go back. Here's what I remember about it. I can remember little Drew. We all think of Drew as a saint. I actually, being a West Coast guy, have always kind of watched the charges. I always like the chargers.
Starting point is 00:26:17 And I remember a lot about him. What do you remember about the year? You know, for one, just coming in and seeing somebody like that from college, you're not used to it, right? I mean, he was another level mentally. He was always on a mission, always straight to his target. I mean, from the wait room to straight to the meeting room, straight to practice. I've never really seen Drew lingering around hanging out, just chat, and it was always on a mission. Business.
Starting point is 00:26:41 Yeah, always business. And, you know, so that's why when he got heard in 2005, and I was probably 15 to 20 feet away on the sideline. and I actually heard his shoulder pop out of place. Oh, God. On that last play. You know, we were out of the playoffs. We wasn't going. Right.
Starting point is 00:26:57 And he fumbles the ball and goes to reach us for it, pops his shoulder out of place. And you also, if I recall, trained with him for the rest of the time. Yeah. Same trainer. We had the same trainer in San Diego, Todd Durkin. So during the off season, we would go and before OTA started, when we had our free time, we would go and train. And he had just had his shoulder done completely. I think it rotated dislocation the whole not.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Everything was done and I thought he was done. So see him getting the range of motion back with the bands and everything. I said, man, this is going to be, this is going to be rough. You know, he was really working at it every day. And when he first started throwing a football, I don't think I've seen him throw a football over 15 yards. When he first picked up the football, 15, 20 yards was like the max I seen him throw. Then over the next course of a few months, then he started throwing a ball 25 yards, 30 yards.
Starting point is 00:27:46 But when he first started out, I thought it was. no way that he was going to get back to what he's doing right now. That to me is why I believe that he should be up for an MVP, right? Because everything he's been through last year, probably to them as a fluke, and just the injuries in the course of his career, for him not to be talked about right now as an MVP candidate is insane. You know, it is funny, too. The way it works, now it's different for linebackers and other players. You can get drafted by a crappy team, get traded, and then have a great last seven years. But when it comes to quarterbacks, whoever
Starting point is 00:28:20 drafts you, owned you for years, and you can get trapped, and if it goes bad initially, coach, injury, team, there are almost no second acts for quarterbacks, almost none. Drew's it. Like Drew, first act didn't go well.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Miami, Dr. No, goes to New Orleans. His second act is, I mean, if Aaron Rogers, in three, four years left Green Bay, his second act wouldn't be as good. I mean, let's be honest. Even Brett Farv went to the Jets. Embarrassing. Vikings good for an hour.
Starting point is 00:28:51 It's over. So Breeze is a remarkable story. Speaking of quarterbacks, McCarthy and Aaron Rogers, you know a lot of players. I've been saying this for years. I used to get a lot of pushback. Now everybody's like,
Starting point is 00:29:03 okay, you're right. It's never been ideal. One guy looks like a Chicago cop. The other guy's California cool. I mean, couldn't I just make an argument? You know, yesterday, Brett Farv came out and said, I think Mike McCarthy's great. And my takeaway is,
Starting point is 00:29:17 Yeah, but Farv, McCarthy saved Farv's career. Right. Remember, Mike Sherman was there. They were terrible. I understand why Farv loves McCarthy. I've never thought Aaron connects with him. No, I don't think so either. And you got to look at how that team was built.
Starting point is 00:29:32 Mike McCarthy put players around Brett Farv. You know, they had, you know, tight in Sterling Sharp, Antonio Freeman, the Levin, the running back, Levin's in the back of you. Yeah, Dorsey Levin's. Yeah, Dorsey Levin's. And he had guys on the defense. of the ball. I just believe they rode Aaron Rogers to the ground by not putting anybody around him
Starting point is 00:29:53 and expecting him to go out and win each and every game. And now that's it. You know, they rode it. They wrote it to the ground. They didn't give him the tools to go out and win football games. Hasn't really had a great running game in four to five years, passed on Khalil Mack, haven't re-signed even some of their pro-bowl level offensive linemen. I think it's almost like Aaron's so talented, they've taken advantage of him a little bit.
Starting point is 00:30:15 Aaron Rogers. The Packers have taken advantage of it. Well, you know, it's a quarterback league and I get it. So you have a great quarterback. You're going to win some football games. But how long is that going to last? You know, the last time they won the Super Bowl? Eight years ago. So you're telling me you don't put talent around somebody for the last five, six, seven years in order for him to go out and win another one?
Starting point is 00:30:35 That to me just falls on the coach. That has nothing to do with Aaron Rogers. Sean Merriman played eight years, former defensive player of the year, multiple pro bowlers. So Monday night, we saw Chiefs Rams. I think it's both sustainable. Chicago Bears, I don't. I think Trebisky runs too much. I think he's marginal.
Starting point is 00:30:51 I think it's a lot of smoking mirrors. Bears historically have a wacko front office and a wacko ownership. But when you watch Goff and Mahomes, talk about each. What would it like to be for you to face each? You know, well, this is the thing. If you look at both of these teams on the offense side of the ball, they're very similar across the board. Right. In town that wide receiver, they got big play guys.
Starting point is 00:31:14 Travis Kelsey can do damage. You know, they got the wire receiver. I'm sorry. Zeke. Yeah, exactly. They're drawn all, you know, they got all these guys on the offense. Tyree Kill. Sorry, they got all these guys on the offense side of the ball. I think when you start to look at this team, you look at the defense, right? Because they both haven't stopped.
Starting point is 00:31:33 They haven't done too well on defense both side of the ball. But Aaron Donald, right, I think it's a deciding factor of who I wouldn't want to play. Like, I wouldn't want to play the Rams because of that reason. You know both of these quarterbacks. going to have 300 plus yards. If Patrick Mahones goes out and he only throws for 300 yards, you're patting your defense on the back and say, yeah, guys, good job. You only gave up 300 yards.
Starting point is 00:31:54 You don't want to admit that as a defensive player, but you know the talent you're going in and facing. The deciding factor in who I wouldn't want to play is who I have to see on the defense out of the ball. I don't want to see Aaron Donald. I don't want to go and have to see what he did. And being a former defense player, an outside linebacker and being in a rush to passer, you can expect to go out and see guys do that.
Starting point is 00:32:14 Be the tackle around the edge and go and look pretty and get a sack. Right. A guy just doing that in an interior alignment position. It's unheard of. It's unheard of. I don't think we've seen anything like him probably in the last two decades. The only player I can compare to Aaron Donald is Reggie White. That's it.
Starting point is 00:32:33 And I think Reggie was gone at the time you played or was it close. He was out. He was out. Yeah, Reggie White was an interior defensive lineman that could lead the NFL in sacks. and that just doesn't happen. Right. Yeah, Aaron's spectacular. All right, let's talk about
Starting point is 00:32:46 Cowboys and Washington play tomorrow. And Washington's got Colt McCoy, who's been in that system for a few years. Gut feeling on the winner that game is you like... I like the Cowboys. I can't go back home to Maryland where I'm from. I like the Cowboys in this game just because of the momentum that they have.
Starting point is 00:33:08 I think nothing against Cole McCoy. I think he's a really good backup quarterback. And nowadays, that's not bad. You know, you have guys that come in and you have a solid backup. You have a safety blanket. If something happens, you've got a good guy that can stand in there and win a football game or two for you. With that division being so wide open,
Starting point is 00:33:26 this is not the guy to lead it. He's just not. He's not the guy that's going to take it over and put these guys over the top. And right now, and how the Cowboys are playing with this momentum, I just don't see the Redskins have an opportunity to come out winning this game. I don't. You know, the Cowboys are going to run the ball, obviously going to give Zechio Elliott the ball over and over again,
Starting point is 00:33:45 and that's going to open up the passing game. And I just don't think the Colt McCoy has enough to respond to what's going to happen. By the way, you surprised the Eagles have— Malcolm Jenkins came out yesterday and said, you know, we're just not accountable. Doug Peterson came out two weeks ago and said, we're not accountable. Jason Kelsey, offensive lineman came out a week ago and said, we're just not accountable. Three guys on that team have all said the same thing. Accountable means. guys ain't putting the time in. Are you shocked at the Super Bowl hangover? Not really. You know, I spent a lot of time.
Starting point is 00:34:17 I went to the Hall of Fame, right? This offseason to see Ray Lewis and seeing a couple guys. And Dawkins was getting elected into the Hall of Fame. Brian Dawkins. Yeah, Brian Dawkins. And you've seen how the Philly fans represented. This whole offseason, everything that I did, you know, the draft, this place. The Philly, they'll live in life right now, right?
Starting point is 00:34:37 this is the biggest thing that's ever happened really to that city. And I think the expectations became so high that it's almost like the hangover. Like they can't fulfill what happened before and they're still living for what happened to them last season. I always call it the lottery winner syndrome. Somebody that's never been wealthy gets all this money and doesn't know what to do with it. Philadelphia doesn't win Super Bowls. And so they win a Super Bowl and they don't know how to act. Everybody's writing a book.
Starting point is 00:35:04 Everybody's got endorsements. I mean, it's just one of those things where the Giants have won a lot of Super Bowls. And Washington's won three, and Dallas won five. Pittsburgh's won a bunch. And New England's won a bunch. And those teams that you don't get this. This was so predictable to me. It's the lottery winner syndrome.
Starting point is 00:35:19 Philadelphia gets to the playoffs occasionally. They don't win Super Bowls. They just didn't know what to do. And they have been acting like it. It's almost like you see a guy that's dancing every single time you get in the end zone. What do you always say? Act like you've been there. Well, if you haven't been there, you can act like it.
Starting point is 00:35:35 Good stuff, Sean Mirren. Good seeing you, buddy. Thank you. Coming up, top of the hour, 20 minutes away of first ever, a blazing five on a pre- Thanksgiving Wednesday. And why Drew Breeze is going to be fondly remembered when he retires two or three years from now. It's the hurt. I'm not a big awards guy, but I would give Drew Breeze the MVP this year so far, and I find myself rooting for him. You know, there's certain times where people get overlooked. Phil Mickelson, frankly, has been overlooked the last 15 years because his greatness coincided with Tiger Woods' greatness.
Starting point is 00:36:14 And Tiger was just this tsunami of relevance and tsunami of championships and a 10-year wave of golf greatness. Because he played in his prime, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Aaron Rogers, and Big Ben, and the Steelers organization, we have overlooked Drew Brees. I believe history will be incredibly kind to Drew Breeze because the images that are indelible when I think of him are not the records and he will have through sheer volume
Starting point is 00:36:45 60 to 70% of NFL records will be Drew Breeze's records. It won't be that sheer volume. It's the picture with his son. It's saving the franchise post-Katrina. It's his likability. It's these pregame speeches that have become legendary on the internet. I've been saying this now for years. The argument has been for years and years.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Brady or Manning! And now it's Brady or Rogers. I'd like to move the two bar stools apart and insert Drew Breeze. I know Rogers is great, but here's a Drew Breeze teammate, offensive lineman who recently retired. Can you see an Aaron Rogers teammate saying this? For the past eight years, I've played in front of the most prolific pastor in NFL history. Drew Brees has been the single greatest motivation.
Starting point is 00:37:56 For me, as a player, every day I would walk into the building and pass Drew watching film. My greatest drive as a player was not to let you down. You're the greatest leader I've ever been around, and I admire you so much as a player, but more as a person. I will miss being around you on a daily basis. Thank you for everything that you have done and continue to do. That's pretty special.
Starting point is 00:38:28 It's so bad once you get the first hiccup, and then you can feel it well and up and then it's a wrap. It's really sweet, though. Drew Breeze is the greatest player in league history to not win an MVP. He will win it this year and should absolutely win it. Mahomes is great, so is Big Ben, Andrew Luck, Breeze gives you all the upside without any turnovers, one all year. Mahomes has seven.
Starting point is 00:38:53 That's incredible. One all year. I get all the genius. And let me just say this joy about history. When I think of the Internet and not the founders, but the two most important people on the growth of the Internet, it's Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. History will be far more kind to Bill Gates. he has given away over $50 billion, the underprivileged, the oppressed countries and people.
Starting point is 00:39:23 They surmise he'll give away three times that by the time he passes, $150 billion. Maybe Steve Jobs was smarter. Maybe he was cooler, but he was a little bit of a jerk, is that history is already being written about jobs, and it's not kind. It will be incredibly kind to be. Bill Gates, his giving, his philanthropy, the marriage, the company, his decency.
Starting point is 00:39:52 Drew Brees, in those pregame speeches, Drew Brees' teammates crying, saying he's the greatest person they've ever known. You just don't see that with the other guys. You just don't. They love him, and he's going to win the MVP. And I don't think the Rams are good enough to win in New Orleans. and I don't think Minnesota is good enough to win in New Orleans and I don't think anybody in the NFC is good enough to win in New Orleans
Starting point is 00:40:21 and I'm not sure anybody in the AFC even with two weeks to prepare is good enough to beat New Orleans. I don't care about awards. I'm not into the Heisman. I'm not into MVPs. Have no problem acknowledging this year for the first time in my life I care. I want Drew to win it.
Starting point is 00:40:42 By the way, I know. that for a brief second, Tom Brady thought he was smarter than Belichick? For a moment, Malcolm Butler was smarter, and Danny Amandola was smarter, and I was smarter, and we were all smarter than Bill Belichick when he just gives those players away. You do recall that Gronk admits that Belichick tried to trade him this offseason to Detroit. Brady stepped in and said, no, you do not. I'm reading a story about Grunk today. Says the writer in New York, he is a decrepit version of his former indestructible self,
Starting point is 00:41:20 a beaten and battered prize fighter who looks sad and lost. If you love football, you want to remember Rob Grunkowski, the way he should be remembered, strong, powerful, leaping tall buildings in a single bound. You want to see him crush poor saps, unlucky enough to be assigned to tackle him. You know what? He's not even the best. Owski on the Patriots anymore. He's not. The kicker is Stephen Gaskowski.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Not Rob Grontowski. Hasn't topped 100 yards since week one. 49th in receiving yards. Bill Belichick was right. Again, he wanted to trade Gronk and would have gotten probably a second round pick for him. For the record, Gronk may have a really good
Starting point is 00:42:08 post- Thanksgiving. but Bill Belichick does something that is really smart and few do it. And I don't think it's a bad thing. He falls in like with players. Most coaches fall in love with them. I've said it this year, people are banging on Tom Brady for his numbers. If I told you, let's forget the names, that Tom Brady this year, here is weapons, a rookie running back who's been hurt most of the year,
Starting point is 00:42:40 a brittle tight end about to retire, a slot receiver passed his prime off an ACL surgery, and Josh Gordon, who hasn't been able to stay clean for five years. Oh, yes, and Philip Dorset, a bust in Indy, and now a guy in New England. Brady is, he is doing it with smoke and mirrors. He and Josh McDaniel. It's smoke and mirrors right now. Gronks probably got a little left.
Starting point is 00:43:14 Not much. Belichick once again was right. First time ever. Blazing 5 on a Wednesday pre- Thanksgiving. Off another winning week, by the way. We had the Chiefs Plus 3.5, half. Half point 1 at Blazing 5 coming up next. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m.
Starting point is 00:43:35 Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the I-Hard radio app. Hour two, here we go. Live in Los Angeles, wherever you may be and however you may be listening. IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio and FS1. Joy Taylor is joining me. And then we take tomorrow and Friday off and we don't come back here to these parts until Monday. It's great to have you in. Joy, you've got kind of a Thanksgiving thing going on here. Yeah, I thought it'd be festive for the holidays. It's Thanksgiving until like right after everyone finishes dinner. And then I'm it's like officially Christmas. Then it's officially We already have the tree up at my house. Oh yeah. Put it up
Starting point is 00:44:14 a week ago. No, why not? You guys get a real tree? No, it's a fake one. Oh, really? Yeah. Recycling. I like that. Yeah, yeah. We always had a fake tree growing up and it was a hassle, but it was the best. We have to pull all the wirings out. Yes, it's all that. My cats like it. Okay, I don't do blazing fives on Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:44:33 Typically, I hit about 58% of my games. I take Thanksgiving off. It's a weird, quirky week. And I played well. I got three and two last week. We've only had one losing season all year. One losing week all year. It's amazing. The best year I've ever had doing this.
Starting point is 00:44:47 Best year I've ever had picking games. And I love my picks this week. And so I thought, you know what? I'm hot. Let's not screw with momentum. I look at the numbers on Monday and I'm like, man, there are a lot of it. This is a good week for numbers. This is a, I told you last week I liked the numbers.
Starting point is 00:45:03 And this week I really like the numbers. The Blazing Five brought to you by Chili's, three for 10 to go. Starter, Entree Coke, only 10 bucks. Chili, three for $10 to go makes the holidays easier. Here's a Blazoned 5. That's a hot one. Let's blaze it up. Fire it up.
Starting point is 00:45:20 It's Collins, Blazing 5. Bears and Lions. Okay, Detroit Plus 3 and a half. Like it? I love the Lions. First of all, Mitch Tribiskey's banged up and he may not play. So get on this puppy fast. They may take it off the board.
Starting point is 00:45:36 But I liked them before that. Matt Stafford has won four of his last five Thanksgiving games, and he's thrown for, on average, 300 yards a game. The Bears are a good team, but they're young and emotional. Young and emotional teams are great at home and average on the road. This team's just two and two on the road this year, and their wins are over Arizona and Buffalo. Detroit wins outright, 27, 26.
Starting point is 00:45:58 Seahawks at Panthers. Carolina, I'm going to take them plus three and a half. I know it's more than a field goal, but you got two things working here. One, Carolina is sneaky good at home, and Seattle's sneaky bad on the road. Look at the home road splits for Carolina. They're 5-0 at home. They average 32 points, and they don't turn the ball over bizarrely at home either. They're plus 10 turnover differential, best in the league at home.
Starting point is 00:46:25 They're a very good red zone offense. Seattle doesn't travel well. I'll swallow the points. Carolina wins 28, 23. Rounds at Bengals. Like it, I love it. I love Cleveland here. I know.
Starting point is 00:46:38 Browns are off a buy. I believe even though they're not a great team, they play with a purpose. Everybody in that building is the Pied Piper is Baker Mayfield. It's actually in the last month, strung some nice games together. Cincinnati's just overrated. They've been blown out several times. When the Browns lose, the Browns lose close. This Bingle defense is on pace to be the worst in every.
Starting point is 00:47:03 NFL history. Baker 19ies, two picks in his last four starts. Browns, forget the points. I think they went out right. 27, 26. Giants and Eagles. Listen, this is, I'll swallow the six points and take Philly here. First of all, in the last two years, who wins games? Eagles are Giants. So I get the better team, the better roster at home.
Starting point is 00:47:25 Carson wins against Eli. Listen, there are some things Philadelphia does very well, and there's some things that the Giants don't do well. The Giants have won consecutive games, but it's against the Niners. And the Bucks, the Giants have the second few of sacks, 30th ranked third down defense. Say what you want about Philadelphia, but they played earlier this year, and it was an utter blowout, and I think there'll be another blowout at home. Philadelphia wins 28 to 10.
Starting point is 00:47:50 Packers had Vikings. I'm going to go just on the number here. I don't know if Green Bay wins, but I like the number three and a half points. Listen, the Packers have the third most sacks in the league. I don't like Kirk Cousins in these big stand-alone TV games. Aaron still touchdown interception ratio is fantastic. 19 TDs and one picks. And I'll go back to it.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Kirk Cousins is the Andy Dalton of the NFC. Big games shrinks. I think Minnesota is the better team. But I like the number at three and a half. Let's call an upset. Green Bay wins it 24 to 23. A little bit of an upset pick. Not show how I feel about it.
Starting point is 00:48:31 I like the first four picks, than that one, but it's my pick. I'm going with it. Aaron Rogers, bouncing back, motivated by Goff and Mahomes and Tribisky and all this offense. There you go. Blazing 5, sponsored by Chili's three for $10 deal. Get a starter, Entree Coke, 10 bucks, perfect play for the busy holidays and your hungry family. By the way, now many of you, after I did that Drew Bree segment,
Starting point is 00:48:55 they're saying, Colin, you know, he's always taking shots at Aaron Rogers. is he still like the guy. I don't know the guy. I don't know the guy. I met him one time. I know he didn't like me. Okay, that's fine. Kevin Durant this weekend didn't like me.
Starting point is 00:49:13 It's okay. My job is to give an opinion, be honest and forthright, not suck up to pro athletes. Call him like I see him. Let me defend Brett Favreve, though, on this because I know how this is going to play. Brett Fav came out in support of Mike McCarthy this week. Uh-oh.
Starting point is 00:49:29 Uh-oh. pressure on Aaron Rogers. Aaron doesn't like him. Brett says he is an excellent coach. That Mike McCarthy. I think Mike is an excellent coach. They have to win and I think win in a hurry or something may happen there. I mean, Aaron is playing outstanding and really keeping them in games. Their defense is really, at times looking really good, opportunistic, aggressive, but I don't see that. I see a lot of potential. I just think that they're underachieving a little bit right now. Okay. Of course, Farrv connects with Mike McCarthy. First of all, their personalities, old school, little stubborn, they're cut from the same cloth.
Starting point is 00:50:07 The other thing is McCarthy saved Farv's career. Mike Sherman was a bad NFL coach. Green Bay was 4 and 12. McCarthy came in and turned it around in two years. They went 8 and 8, and then they went 13 and 3. So, of course, Farve loves him. I'd love a boss too if he resurrected my career. Well, Garzi loves him. The second thing is, never forget this.
Starting point is 00:50:28 McCarthy used to be in. San Francisco. And as Greg Jennings told us the former Packer, he didn't love Aaron Rogers coming out of college. The thing about Aaron Rogers and Mike McCarthy that people miss sometimes, who was the number one overall pick the year Aaron Rogers came out? Alex Smith. Who was his offensive coordinator?
Starting point is 00:50:52 Mike McCarthy. And it would just be so random. And Aaron will take a shot at Mike. like, oh yeah, like how you picked Alex Smith. Yeah, yeah. Okay. So listen, Farrv is going to love McCarthy. Same personality, cut from the same cloths, resurrected his career.
Starting point is 00:51:12 And there's no question that Aaron Rogers is a different dude than McCarthy. He inherits McCarthy. And McCarthy is like Farve's guy. And McCarthy once passed on him. I'm not a grudge holder, but I don't forget stuff. I forgive and I don't forget. I'm not a grudge holder. But if Aaron Rogers is like, you're kind of a Fav guy, he's right.
Starting point is 00:51:36 McCarthy's kind of a Farrv guy. And so if Farrv comes out and says, I love Mike McCarthy, I totally get it. Completely absolutely explainable. I do think McCarthy and Rogers, 12 years in, time for divorce. You always hear horror stories about bad divorces. McCarthy will get another job. Aaron will get a more progressive, offensive mind. It'll all be good.
Starting point is 00:51:56 Aaron will have after this year, another good four years. I hope he lasts physically. Kaleel Mack twice a year. Vikings defense twice a year. But Aaron's going to have a nice four years after this year. They're not going to make the playoffs this year. In fact, you know, we do this thing called the herd hierarchy every week. We haven't had Green Bay.
Starting point is 00:52:12 Have we had Green Bay in the top 10 since week one? The two teams I bought into early. I didn't buy into Green Bay early this year. I haven't had them in Herd hierarchy in three months. I mean, I just didn't buy them this year. After about week three, I was out on them. and Saints, we bought them before everybody else did. We said they're better than the Rams,
Starting point is 00:52:30 they're better than the Steelers, they're better than the Chiefs for two reasons. You can't run on them, and their offensive line now is the best in football. But Aaron's going to have a good four years after McCarthy, and McCarthy's going to get picked up by somebody. He will. I'm not sure the list will be long for McCarthy,
Starting point is 00:52:43 but he'll get picked up by somebody. We've got a lot. T.J. Husman's Otto's coming up next. I love him, a truth teller, an honesty broker. Joel Klatt's coming on. I believe Bama Clemson, Notre Dame are the best three, and the fourth spot should go to Oklahoma. I don't want to hear about their defense, and Joel Klatt's not going to like that.
Starting point is 00:53:04 So we're going to argue about that in about 25 minutes. Saturday, buckle up for one of the fiercest rivalries in all of sports as number four, Michigan and number 10 Ohio State. Battle for a spot in the Big Ten championship. Coverage begins Saturday at 11 Eastern on Fox or watch anywhere on the Fox Sports app. And earlier, Jim Harbaugh sat down with our coach, Dave Wanstatt. we all know the importance of the Ohio State game personally having played in it what would be a fond memory or the memory that jumps out at you just winning you know
Starting point is 00:53:36 as a player you know one of the games that I played in in the Michigan Ohio State game and you know as a coach have not won those games so I got the good memories of playing and you don't want to have a good memory of coaching in it by the way a lot of people gave up on Harbaugh a couple years ago. One man didn't. Do you know who that is, Joy? You are the only one who continues to believe in Jim Harbaugh. One of the only people in North America
Starting point is 00:54:05 that defended him while that's what good friends do. They support you in times of crisis. Are you friends with Jim Harbaugh? No. But I will say this. My wife's from Michigan and everybody's been banging on this guy for three years and I'm like, he knows what he's doing. San Diego, Stanford,
Starting point is 00:54:21 49ers, Michigan. If you stack your resume and it's just a bunch of turnaround Bill Parcells. I don't have to see Super Bowl wins. Boom, boom. You know, Jets, Patriots, Dallas, Miami. Everywhere you go, you win. Harbaugh's a good coach.
Starting point is 00:54:36 Two years ago, everybody wanted them out. Last year, the whole world wanted him out. And you alone. And Joel Clap. All right, let's bring in TJ Hushmanzada, one of my favorite guests. Over a decade in the NFL, a pro bowler. You have an interesting take on the McCarthy,
Starting point is 00:54:52 Aaron Rogers. So Brett Farb comes out and says, he's a great coach Mike McCarthy's a great coach you think what is Brett Farve really saying Aaron Rogers shut up and go win a game he wasn't a bad coach when y'all won a Super Bowl that's how I took it when I see that
Starting point is 00:55:06 it's Brett Farv telling Aaron Rogers shut up and go play and win you think Farvin Rogers still have a little animosity that's always going to be there they'll see each other they'll be cordial they'll be professional but I believe that that will always be there yeah so do I
Starting point is 00:55:21 always different guys Yeah, I mean, Brett Farrv is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play. You draft Aaron Rogers in the first round. You know, eventually this guy's going to start if I'm not winning Super Bowl year after year. And so, somebody wants to be next to their replacement every day for years knowing how this guy's going to replace me.
Starting point is 00:55:40 So it's going to build up some type of animosity over time. Yeah. So it's funny, I've said this. I understand because Brady and Manning and Big Ben and Rogers, big football brands, that Drew Brees shrinks, has for years. But I really do feel that history is going to be kind to Drew. Katrina, the images, his son, the Super Bowl. He may win another. He's the best player not to win an MVP. A lot of the images, the pregame speeches, his teammates crying, talking about him.
Starting point is 00:56:10 You know, imagery matters. When I say Michael Jordan, I think about certain shots. When I think about Tiger Woods, I think about certain shots. When I think of Breeze, I'm going to remember the son, Katrina, Super Bowl, players crying, talking about him. I think Drew's a lot closer to Aaron Rogers than everybody thinks. The reason people perceive Aaron Rogers to be here is because of his natural talent. He throws the ball so effortlessly. He can run around and make plays. He's not the tallest, but he's bigger than Drew Breeze.
Starting point is 00:56:43 Drew Breeze is, he's like the guy that runs the mile. He doesn't go too fast. He doesn't go too slow. He's just slow and steady and he's going to get there. And he's going to give you the same thing pretty. much every year and you kind of take it for granted. You really do. You take it for granted. He's probably the most accurate
Starting point is 00:56:59 pastor to ever play. He's so accurate. Like his receivers, you get any type of separation. The ball's on the money. Yeah. If you known guys who have played with him? Well, not personally. I've worked out with guys. I've worked out with Drew Breeze when I was playing. We'd work out all the time out here.
Starting point is 00:57:15 And Marcus Colston would come out here and you just look at the year Michael Thomas has happened. They have nobody else to throw ball to besides Alvin Kamar and Michael Thomas is still killing every he's killing everybody yeah because Drew Breeze just puts the ball on the money
Starting point is 00:57:31 um you have an interesting take um I like the Eagles this weekend to beat the Giants but you you kind of have an interesting take I think on I'm just saying I call it the lottery winner syndrome where if you never had money and get a billion dollars you don't know what to do with it and it's the same thing in sports
Starting point is 00:57:46 Atlanta doesn't get to Super Bowls they don't know how to act after they do it Philadelphia doesn't win Super Bowls they don't know how to act parades and books, but you have a different take on it. I think we read into it too much. Number one, they're probably just not very good this year. Carson Winston started a season. Alshan Jeffrey didn't start the season.
Starting point is 00:58:05 They missed a lot of offense. But you look at, look at what Andrew Luck is doing in Indianapolis and who's his coach. Frank Wright. And you look how Carson Wentz is playing now and how he played last year. Coaching matters in the NFL. Coaching really matters when
Starting point is 00:58:22 you're confused on a certain play on how to read it and what to look for. And you have a coach that's played the game that you trust because he's been in that line of fire before. And he tells you some and you believe it. To me, it's no coincidence that Andrew Luck is having a tremendous year. And the Eagles and Carson Wentz, they're not. No, listen, you know this before. In your 11 years, did you ever lose a coach? You know, a good guy goes and gets a better job.
Starting point is 00:58:47 And you notice literally by the next camp, it wasn't the same. feel. When Hugh left Hugh Jackson. When Hugh left to go to Atlanta I was like, damn. And that's just the truth. There's coaches that they say a certain thing and you're like, ah, I got it.
Starting point is 00:59:06 And there's certain coaches that they'll explain something you're like, I have no idea what he's talking about. And that goes on a lot. Coaching, I don't believe, matters as much in the NBA. I don't think it matters as much in baseball. Coaching matters a lot in NFL, a lot. A lot.
Starting point is 00:59:22 Yeah, Frank Reich was a great coordinator. John D. Philippo, by the way, has gone to Minnesota, so they've lost a two-headed monster in Philadelphia. And it's showing. Yes. You can say, oh, the offensive line has been banged up. Oh, this guy. It was banged up last year.
Starting point is 00:59:36 Look at Carson Wentz now and look at him last year. That's all you have to say. It's no comparison. Okay. So Monday night, Goff Mahomes Firework Show. You were actually, you played in three different games similar to Monday night with the Bengals, Chargers at home,
Starting point is 00:59:52 Brown's in Cleveland. You were actually in the second highest scoring. It says your TV has video of you getting knocked out in that game. Do we have video show this? Hold on. Here we go. Oh, man, you got smoke there. You remember that play?
Starting point is 01:00:09 I do remember it. Oh, Lord, you used to be able to. Oh, good Lord. That's a car. Why are you playing this? I don't mind it. Some bad memories. Wow.
Starting point is 01:00:21 Yeah, that was just, you just got a knee to the head. That's nobody. That was a shooter. out and I was so mad. I believe we lost that game and they would not let me go back in. Well, yeah, that's because your head was all fuzzy. But after a while, I was okay. Not really, but you just wanted
Starting point is 01:00:34 to play. Your head wasn't okay 15 minutes later. I was so angry about that because it was a back and forth type of game and they would not let me go back in. I remember that. Okay. I ask everybody about the Cowboys. They play Washington at home. I think they'll win kind of comfortably. Are you a believer or not a believer in them?
Starting point is 01:00:50 Man, I'm a believer in the Cowboys. Their defense is the reason they're in every game. If they don't turn the ball over, they're in every game because their defense is that stout. Vandreche is, he just has a knack for the ball. He's Brian Urlacker. This dude has instincts out of this world. And I see Jerry Jones, when Sean Lee comes back, we got to find a way to divide the snaps. Sean Lee, you're going to watch the game just like I do. He doesn't need to play. Jalen Smith and Vandreche are the linebackers. Sean Lee, sorry, you keep getting hurt. Sorry, you lost your spot. Yeah. And I like Sean Lee. But you know what? Van
Starting point is 01:01:22 And Darius reminds me to Erlacker. We didn't watch either playing college. And then all of a sudden, about six games into Erlackers for seriously. Who's this guy from New Mexico? And they're both big. And fast and strong. And it's like they've wrestled with wolves in Idaho and New Mexico. The Cowboys are legit on defense.
Starting point is 01:01:38 Oh, yeah. They're in every game. Every game. Good seeing you, buddy. Hey, one thing. One thing. It's my daughter's birthday today. Say hi.
Starting point is 01:01:44 She's 27. Happy birthday, baby. And she, now is this the one is at LSU? No, she comes home today. She fly in today. and it's my birthday, my seven-year-old birthday party day. I got a busy 48 hours here. So this is your daughter who's at home? Yeah, she's here.
Starting point is 01:01:59 Say it again. I'm more time. Happy birthday. Happy birthday. Happy birthday. Happy birthday to you. Yeah. Good seeing you.
Starting point is 01:02:05 Joy with the news. No. No. No. Turn on the news. This is the Herdline News. All right. Pro Puppa Hall of Fame announced the modern era semifinalist for the 2019 class. Oh, let me hear it.
Starting point is 01:02:17 Is that this morning? I believe they put it up last night. Okay. Some players on that list include our own tight end, Tony Gonzalez. Oh, he'll make it, yeah. Cornerback champ Bailey and safety, Ed Reed. Those are all first-time candidates. Speaking of great speeches.
Starting point is 01:02:33 By the way, is Jimmy Johnson's on it? Yes, Jimmy Johnson's on it. I mean, first of all, I'm not saying this because I work with Jimmy. Jimmy needs to be in. He's one of the three best coaches in the history of the sport. It's stupid. Jimmy needs to be in. Tony's going to get in first ballot.
Starting point is 01:02:49 But Jimmy won three Super Bowls. It was a two Super Bowls. Barry won the other one. And then he also won, he was a dominant college coach. I mean, Pete Carroll's the only other guy that's one in both, didn't he? Well, I mean, I guess this is pro football, so they're not technically supposed to look at the college resume. But either way, I feel like Jimmy Johnson is a Hall of Fame. He also won in, for the record, he won in Miami.
Starting point is 01:03:12 Yes. And he drafted Jason Taylor. Oh, he did. Your brother played with Jimmy. I feel like that should just bump him up there. So did he like him? Yeah, Jimmy drafted him. Oh, he loves Jimmy.
Starting point is 01:03:23 By the way, he drafted. Jimmy introduced him. What do you mean? Jimmy was the speaker for him at the Hall of Fame. So Jimmy drafted your brother and a guy named Zach Thomas. Yes, and Zach also should get in as well. Yeah, Zach was a great player. Erlacker is in, and Zach and Erlacker have the essentially the same statistics.
Starting point is 01:03:41 You know, here's what's funny. Give the Hall of Fame class again. The two guys that I look at and think should be in, now they both work at Fox. and I love them both. So you're going to think I'm being a total homer here. But of all those guys listed, Tony Gonzalez and Jimmy Johnson, the two guys that, and let me look at the whole list here. No one can debate Tony Gonzalez.
Starting point is 01:03:57 No one can debate Tony at all. He played 17 years. He's second all-time in career receptions. Tony is a first ballot hall favor. Nobody's going to debate you on that. Jimmy Johnson, maybe, but I feel like he is. Edger and James is great. Steve Hutchison's great.
Starting point is 01:04:11 Ed Reed was filthy good. These guys are all good. Ed might be first ballot. too, honestly. Yeah, Ed Reed was great. John Lynch. John's more borderline. I think Ed, Ed is a, Ed's first ballot. Ed Reed's a, the three people on that list that are first ballot to me, Ed Reed, Jimmy Johnson, Tony Gonzalez should be in now. Ed also had one of the greatest speeches of all time. Who's that? Half-time speeches. Ed Reed. I'm hurt, dog. Don't ask me if I'm all right. He's great. All right. So, USC Trojan fans want Clay Hilton fired.
Starting point is 01:04:46 I'm not speaking for all of them, obviously, but a bunch. And they're getting pretty serious about the situation. So a group of fans have done what fans do when they get angry. They go to GoFundMe. And they raise money to oust the head coach. So they GoFundMe has a goal listed of 23,000. They're a little over 10,000 right now. What is this money for, you say?
Starting point is 01:05:06 Well, they want $2,000 to run a plane with an aerial banner calling for his firing to fly over the USC campus before the Notre Dame game this weekend. because, you know, Twitter, Facebook, email, phone calls, texts, all those things. They don't seem to be getting through to anybody. So a plane will be more obvious. And then the rest of the $20,000 will go to purchase a full page ad in the LA Times to call for his firing. They've slipped to five and six underheld it. I'm fairly close to the program. I do think they need a new coach.
Starting point is 01:05:35 I think this stuff comes off as mean-spirited. I will say this. If he won the UCLA game, I was told he would keep his job. He did not. And so they don't have a president. the trustees don't want to make the decision. It's incredibly complicated. Lynn Swan gave him an extension and looks really bad having to fire him.
Starting point is 01:05:53 And I've told Lynn Swan does not want to fire him. But if Lynn doesn't make a move, then Lynn's got to go. It's a mess. It is a mess. You can't lose to UCLA. That's the one game that this year every year that you can't. Yeah, you can't lose the UCLA, which they did. They're going to lose their Notre Dame, as we know.
Starting point is 01:06:12 And of course. here's the thing with this. And they did this without Golden in Miami too. And the flying the plane thing like okay, I'm not going to tell people
Starting point is 01:06:22 how to spend your money. Like if this is what you feel like you need to give your money to a cause you need to give your money to, fine. But the long-term effect of doing this is what? Really you're advertising
Starting point is 01:06:32 to recruits that your program is a disaster. If I'm a top recruit, why am I going to go to USC? They're flying planes all over the place. They're yelling for the coach to be fired. I don't know who's going to be there. Think long term.
Starting point is 01:06:45 Like that doesn't, it's not helping the situation. Right. Believe me, they can hear you. They can see what the record is also. Finally, J.R. Smith's tenure with the Cavs is effectively over. He will no longer be actively with the team. They will attempt to trade him and he will work out on his own until a trade occurs. A source close to JR said the split was amicable and the calves are just going in a different direction from where he wanted to go.
Starting point is 01:07:09 And he also said that he didn't want to be a part of a team if its goal isn't to compete to win. he was averaging little over six points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.9. They're tanking. Cabs are tanking. Pretty obvious that's happening. Yeah, the cabs are tanking, folks. Kevin Love, stay out, J.R. Smith. They want this Zion Williamson kid.
Starting point is 01:07:28 People are comparing him to the next LeBron. So the cabs, I mean, this is the difference between the NFL and the NBA. We're like a month into the season and you have a team, I think two of them. Atlanta and the calves are tanking. I wish they wouldn't get rewarded for doing this. I wish they could find a way to not reward teams for tanking. Because it's really... The lottery is funny.
Starting point is 01:07:50 The NFL doesn't have a lottery and teams don't tank. I mean, I think the Colts at the end with Peyton Manning that wanted Andrew Locke last week or two, they were tanking. But the NBA has got this lottery to avoid tanking. And last year, you had eight teams actively tanking. The lottery is useless. Yeah. It doesn't matter. If a team wants to tank and get a player, they're going to lose a bunch of games and they'll get the ping,
Starting point is 01:08:12 pong balls and that's just the way it's going to be. And J.R's earning $14.72 million this year. That's thanks to LeBron. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The herd line news. For the
Starting point is 01:08:28 record, talking about Philadelphia, Malcolm Jenkins was the latest and he's a, you know, a very very smart guy. So Doug Peterson said a week ago guys aren't focused in, Jason Kelsey a week ago said guys aren't dialed in.
Starting point is 01:08:48 Accountable. Accountable was the name word. And now Malcolm Jenkins is saying this. Some things are just non-negotiable. We can deal with guys getting beat. You know, mistakes happen. If you don't win at the point of attack, cool. But if you don't know what you're doing,
Starting point is 01:09:04 if you're not giving us everything you've got, especially with our backs around the wall, then that's just something I think as leaders of the team, we need to nip in the butt because we're, you know, at that moment where we can't carry non-essential personnel. And this is three people, the coach, the star defensive player, elite Jason Kelsey, all saying the same thing. We're not accountable. Translation, it's not the injuries. It's guys got fat and rich and won and had dog masks and they. They didn't know how to handle success.
Starting point is 01:09:43 Jason, these guys aren't talking about injuries. Everybody's making excuses. What about the injuries? The guys in that locker room, Jason Kelsey last week, listen, they're not talking about injuries. The thing that you see, in my opinion, from this team to last year, at least offensively, is the cohesion, the people being accountable to the job that they're asked to do, everybody being on the same page. You know, last year, it just seemed like everything was clicking. and everybody, you know, we had guys like, you know, Brent Selik, who had been here a lot of the time, who was very accountable,
Starting point is 01:10:12 Tori Smith, who had been in the league for a long time, very accountable. That's what we're missing. I mean, we're missing that accountability. When you have a coach and two stars, nobody's talking about injuries, nobody's talking about coaches gone. It's like not accountable. It's embarrassing. Certain guys shouldn't be on the roster.
Starting point is 01:10:32 This was incredibly, you know, there's been a handful of things I've been really right on, you know, Carmelow is way overrated. Westbrook is hard to play with. You know, LeBronzo, this stacks up. And I didn't think it would be this bad, and I do like the Eagles this weekend. But this is what I call the lottery winner syndrome. If you've never had money, you don't know what to do with it. And if you've never had Super Bowl wins, you don't know how to act.
Starting point is 01:10:57 Now, the good news is the GM, Howie Roseman, really smart. Doug Peterson, the coach, really smart. Carson Wentz, really good, and the owner, Lori, is fantastic. So I've been told this for years and years. If you're an A to a B plus at owner GM coaching quarterback, you're going to be a viable team every year. They'll be back. They're not disappearing. Philadelphia is going to be back.
Starting point is 01:11:22 They'll win this weekend. They can still win this division. I don't know, they will. But here's the thing. The good news for Philadelphia, you got the four things that matter most. You're four for four. owner, GM, coach, quarterback, A to B plus, all of them. Wentz is an A.
Starting point is 01:11:39 When he's healthy, he's an A. So that's good. Coming up next, it is basically an argument. It's a televised argument between Joel Clatt and I. The college football playoff came out last night, and I've got a bunch of theories on this. I think it's time for Brian Kelly to go to the NFL. I like Oklahoma over Michigan, as much as I like Jim Harbaugh. All of that coming up next.
Starting point is 01:12:02 All right, there's my blazing five, Brian. brought to you by a Chili's three for $10 deal. I'll take Detroit, Carolina, the Browns, the Eagles, and Green Bay. And with that, he is the lead college football analyst for this network. Joel Klatt. What's up, man? Michigan at Ohio State. Coverage begins 11 Eastern on Fox with Gus and Joel.
Starting point is 01:12:24 So let's start with this. America bailed on Harbaugh last year. We didn't. Two guys right here. Two, Joy. Two joy. Joy to the world. Cheers. Yeah, cheers.
Starting point is 01:12:36 Yeah, come on over here. Yeah, you bet. There you. A couple of winners right here. Didn't bail on Harbaugh like all those weenie sports riders sitting at their typewriters. So let me just say this. This is huge for Harbaugh. Yes, massive.
Starting point is 01:12:52 I think that you can make a strong argument that this might be, Colin, the most important game that he's coached since the Super Bowl. I agree. because he wasn't favored at Seattle in the NFC championship game the next year. That was a really good Seattle team that was going to go on and win the Super Bowl and beat Denver. Remember, they beat down Denver. And I think that you can give him somewhat of a pass even for two years ago because it's not really like he had his team yet at Michigan. So in his second year, they lose an overtime game on the road. I mean, you can kind of give him there was a really bad spot in that, a bad holding call.
Starting point is 01:13:29 but this one feels different. Why, he's favored. He's got the team. It's experienced on defense. They're good on the offensive line. All five offensive linemen have started every single game this year. They've run the ball. And more importantly, he has a quarterback. And so with Ohio State struggling and going through what they've gone through this season, that's a component to it too. He's got to win this game. Yeah, it's big. This one is huge because if you don't, if you're Michigan and you don't win this game, you start to win. That's the exact point. When are we going to win? When are we going to win? Because you got a borderline NFL guy, the best defense in the country. And right now, Ohio State, you know, I'm not close enough to know, but I have two sources I trust that tell me in Urban's Splitsville.
Starting point is 01:14:12 Like after the season, he's gone. Let's address that because I'm sure you've heard the same thing. I have. I've heard the rumblings. All I can go on is what he's told me personally and publicly, which is he's going to be the coach of Ohio State. And I will start with that. if anything, Ohio State's not making any sort of moves. They want to retain him.
Starting point is 01:14:33 Of course they would. I mean, why would they have gone through what they went through this offseason unless they wanted him to be there long term? You know, so I've heard some sentiment and people throwing that out there like, boy, would Ohio State, no, Ohio State's not going to do anything. Now, Urban's health might be an issue, this cyst in his head that gives him these pounding headaches. He looked exasperated last week.
Starting point is 01:14:54 Obviously, anyone would when their defense has given up over 15. points the week before arrival. He doesn't seem right. He doesn't seem normal to me as my history with him has shown. Having said that though, I just don't see this. I don't see him riding away this way.
Starting point is 01:15:14 I mean, he's one of the best coaches that we've seen in this generation of college. You really think that this is the way he wants to write out? I don't. I don't. So if you're asking me having talked to him, having been around the program, I do not think that this is the last year for urban let me throw this one out to you it should be the last year
Starting point is 01:15:34 for brian kelly just hear me out is that here we go no am i going to like this right now it's going to be a lot of sense and talk some sense Notre Dame's a different job first time in a while but go ahead it's a different job academic private hard to win this is not Brian kelly told me this and you know this this is not a 25 year job it's just not Nick Saban asks Nick Saban gets on everything at Alabama. Same with Dabo. Same with the Oklahoma coach. It's a fight here. It's a fight to win. You got the Regents. You got the, you know, Notre Dame. This is as good as Notre Dame is going to get. This is it. They're not as good as Clemson.
Starting point is 01:16:13 They're not as good. Two years ago, I was told by somebody who would know, Brian put the feelers out, see if the NFL is interested. Yeah, I've known that same thing. Okay. So this is... It's an interesting theory. He gets into the playoff. Interesting theory. Okay, gets into the playoff. Loses by 8 to Clemson.
Starting point is 01:16:31 That's as good as I can do. I'm not beating Alabama anytime soon. I don't have the same players. I can't do JCs. I don't do transfers. I'm a private school. It's not terrible timing. It's not your worst take.
Starting point is 01:16:43 No, listen, meaning like you might be on to something. You might be on to something. Because I know after a couple of years in the last five, there were feelers out there. He was thinking about making that move. Having said that, and let me just play devil's advocate. I'm not suggesting that this. place is better than Notre Dame or anything along those lines. But why is Notre Dame not a 25-year
Starting point is 01:17:02 place? And it could be for David Shaw at Stanford. Okay. It's a private school. It's an academic So is Stanford. It's expectations are unrealistic. Come on. Where Stanford's maybe aren't. No, no, it's Stanford. If you win 9-10, you get an extension. You're saying Stanford's expectations are not unrealistic. So you're at a place. I don't think it's the worst idea. If you were, let's just say it this way. I would not be shocked, nor would I begrudge that that move. I wouldn't say like, what are you doing? Neither would I. I think that that would be a decent move. If he stays, I think that's a decent move as well, because I think that this is a program in Notre Dame that should be in the upper echelon of college football and is in the upper echelon of college football right now.
Starting point is 01:17:46 You ever hired anybody in your life? No. Okay, I have a man of power and leverage. So I've had a, when I hire people, resume get you with this every day. Resumet gets you in the door. But you know when I hire a guy, Claire? You know what? I'm sorry. Resumet get you in the door. But I hire a man or a woman because I think when Joy was there, I said, she'll get it done.
Starting point is 01:18:09 Maybe when somebody comes in that goes, I went to Cornell, broadcast, I know all this is. So yeah, yeah, I mean, you hired difference makers. Okay. All these resumes for the fourth spot, Michigan, Georgia, Oklahoma, LSU, Wazoo, USA. They're all impressive resumes. Oklahoma, mobile quarterback, world class offensive guy. Playmaker. It's all
Starting point is 01:18:29 about entertainment value for you. Oh, yeah. Crazy. It's called television. Yeah, I love the Rams and Chiefs, baby. 52.51. This is awesome. You didn't watch that game? I'm saying it was, I mean, it was great. So it's splitting hairs. Michigan, Oklahoma, are both good. I mean, again, you want your dumb, dumb before dinner,
Starting point is 01:18:45 which is fine. I brought you a couple. I knew you would probably go. I brought you a couple dumbs. Yeah, here's your take. way to go Colin here's your dumb dumbs for this take you think Michigan is way more qualified than Oklahoma
Starting point is 01:19:00 way to go let's go with the most exciting one which one is it it's the one that has the question marks what flavor it is Colin I don't know let's check exciting yeah because I've seen that matchup with Alabama it works maybe maybe I mean why wouldn't you just want
Starting point is 01:19:17 the teams to earn their way in right I mean oh god I'm saying I just don't think it's the way that you choose a team. Right? Like I think that Michigan's lost to Notre Dame is better than Oklahoma's lost to Texas. So I don't think that the resumes are similar. I'm not saying that OU would not be a good choice. I would love to see Oklahoma play against Clemson's defense or Alabama's defense.
Starting point is 01:19:39 I would have loved to have seen it last year. But that doesn't mean I don't want to see Chase Winnevich and Rishon, Gary, and Devin Bush play against Tuotunga Vailoa. Because I'd love to see that as well. Now it might be a little bit lower scoring for you. you so I might you know you don't get your dumb dumb there before dinner but why I mean this whole notion I've seen that we should choose a team based on excitement level is wrong it's false by this is you know in the NCAA tournament I always have this theory if I'm paying for the wedding I get
Starting point is 01:20:09 to make up the seating chart oh so CBS is like um I'm paying for the entire March madness I want to see you know Louisville play Kentucky in the third round I want to see I want Syracuse not Tulsa. So you're going to tell me I'm sitting there with this whole thing. So you want ESPN to be able to say like, well, these are the matchups we want based on ratings. No, no, no. I'm saying Bam and Clems and Notre Dame in. Now it's just a bunch of
Starting point is 01:20:33 one lost teams. Okay, well, one of those one lost teams is Ohio State and they get more ratings than anybody. They were the most watch team in the last two weekends of college football. They're going to get whacked by Michigan. I thought you just told me that you were supposed to choose based on ratings. I'm paying for the wedding, Colin. I want ratings. No, I'm not saying,
Starting point is 01:20:48 I'm saying once it's just a bunch of arguments over the same resume. Well, what's to say that Oklahoma is so far... It's about what's going to be a good entertaining game. Entertainment level. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. An actual football game and not a blowout. Yesterday, last week...
Starting point is 01:21:06 Well, I was to say Bama, Oklahoma wouldn't be a blowout. I'm saying it probably would be 54 to 40, but I know what Michigan Alabama's going to be. It's going to be LSU Alabama. I see, I don't believe that. What do you think? I don't believe the case. How many Michigan's going to score?
Starting point is 01:21:21 how many points on Alabama? I've seen that offense. Struggled against Northwestern. After seeing what Alabama did against LSU offensively, after knowing what, I mean, Michigan put up over 500 yards last week, I think they played quality complementary football. If I were to tell you, like Michigan, Alabama would be 2417. Oh, God, no. Why? That's a one-score game. So you want 54-40? You think Bama, Michigan's a touchdown game? Yeah, I do. I do. I don't think Alabama is quite the dominant team, in particular in the last month that we've seen. They were tied at half time with the Citadel. By the way, do you know the last time an FCS team was tied with a top 10 team at half?
Starting point is 01:21:59 Do you know? Do you know? I do. Weird. 2007, it was App State at Michigan. Okay, time out. Does your TV not work? It does work.
Starting point is 01:22:06 I watch all the film. You don't think Alabama's been dominant this year. No, they have been dominant. They have not been as dominant the last month. Well, come on. They're male. Citadel. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:22:17 10-10 game. They also did not gain 400 yards, nor did they score over 25 points against LSU. Name the last time Oklahoma didn't gain 400 yards and score 25 points. It's really hard to find that game. All I'm saying is that there's some cracks in the foundation with Alabama. They're going to be my favorite to win the national championship. But this notion that you should pick a team just based on entertainment value or competitive nature, first of all, you cannot tell me that Oklahoma and Michigan would be drastically different from a competitive standpoint with
Starting point is 01:22:48 Bam or Clemson. I'm running out of time with you. I bet you are. You know, all the time in the world. You just want to get your dumdums. Give them a dumb dumb dumb. They're right here. Give me a lollipop before dinner.
Starting point is 01:22:58 Prop comic, Joel Clatt. Oh, here it is. The Herd. Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd, weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific. Hour 3. Here we go. This is The Herd. Wherever you may be and however you may be listening. Live in Los Angeles, Iheart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, FS1.
Starting point is 01:23:16 Thanksgiving Eve today. Joy Taylor is joining. me. You've got kind of the Thanksgiving-ish outfit on. Holiday times. It's holiday times. And 15 minutes, we have Dante Jones, former LeBron teammate, friend of LeBron, hangs regularly with LeBron. We also have a holiday edition of Monday's headlines today. But Dante Jones is going to be joining us here in 15 minutes. And speaking of which, it is, of course, Thanksgiving Eve.
Starting point is 01:23:47 so let me start with this. LeBron and the Lakers play in Cleveland tonight. Maybe you've heard LeBron's from Akron, played in Cleveland, gave them a lot of stuff they never had, like relevance. Tonight, who knows how Ohio and specifically Cleveland will act? It should be a parade for LeBron. The game should start. There should be a 10-minute standing ovation.
Starting point is 01:24:12 And then forfeit the game, Cleveland, give it to the Lakers, and then everybody can just go home. That's what should happen. The point of this game is really inconsequential. It's irrelevant. This is a lifetime achievement award. LeBron came to Cleveland in 2003. From that day until his last game as a Cav,
Starting point is 01:24:35 they won 64% of his games. When he left or missed a game, they won less than 30% of their games. Let's be honest. Thanksgiving's tomorrow. Why don't you thank him tonight? Thanks, LeBron, for the title. Thanks for the relevance. Thanks for the school.
Starting point is 01:25:00 Thanks for the economy. Thanks for the five trips to the finals. For the record, he did not dump you. He dumped Dan Gilbert. Oh, you remember the letter. It's embarrassing. I haven't brought it up in a year, so why not? It is Thanksgiving.
Starting point is 01:25:16 after all. I'd like to thank Dan for that letter. The worst ever written by an owner. A billionaire, an adult, a team owner, wrote it. And the good therapist will often tell you, hey, sometimes you should write stuff and sleep on it. No, he posted it. He posted it. It was embarrassing. Calling out LeBron for having the audacity after seven years,
Starting point is 01:25:36 Tino go to Pat Riley, D. Let's be honest. 20% of the people you don't even want to get caught in a car with in America.
Starting point is 01:26:03 Certainly not an arena. Certainly not a car of a room. 20% of the people don't get what they don't get. Ohio, though, mostly gets it. In the last 15 presidential elections, Ohio, 15 for 15. They voted for the guy who won. It's a state that mostly has the right vibe about the moment. Let's be honest, too, about the first breakup with LeBron James.
Starting point is 01:26:26 You know, the one you burned his jersey. I understood it to some degree. That was like, whoa, my high school sweetheart broke up with me. She's my girl. She's mine, right? I got that a little bit. But the second breakup, let's be honest about that, the most recent breakup. Cleveland? There were three parts to that when he came back to Cleveland. A, glad to have you back.
Starting point is 01:26:54 B, sorry about the burning the jersey stuff. And C, thank you for giving us what you promised. Don't boo say thank you. Let me shift to this. Speaking of that day tomorrow, happy Thanksgiving to all of you, drive safe be safe. Cowboys will play Washington. Yesterday, Jerry Jones owns the Dallas Cowboys. He was asked about the Monday Night Football Game, Rams Chiefs, that crazy, crazy football game, and all the offense and a thousand yards and a million touchdowns, and Jerry was asked if the Dallas Cowboys could ever look like that in
Starting point is 01:27:40 the near future. Like that. I see us really controlling the ball when we're playing at our best. if we got in shootouts, and if you recall back in Romo's days, we were in shootouts, and we could shoot out with the best of them. Having said all of that, I think that because if you just assume that you've got to score 54 points to win a ball game, then nothing we've seen says we can play at that kind of level. It's interesting.
Starting point is 01:28:15 I want to talk about sustainability. Now, the Cowboys years ago, remember that photo with Romo and Witton and Dez and all those guys? they thought that was going to be sustainable for years. And it was not. Romo got hurt. Des got crazy. I'm going to show you some pictures of offenses and teams we thought were sustainable for years and years. The Seattle Seahawks.
Starting point is 01:28:38 People thought that was sustainable. It was not. Pete was in his mid-60s. He'd come out of college and nailed his first three drafts. He wasn't going to sustain finding superstars in the fifth sixth round. The San Francisco 49ers, Kaepernick, Harbock. we thought that too. Five, six years ago, it was going to last a long time.
Starting point is 01:29:00 But Kackerenick was always more runner than thrower. Harbaugh didn't get along with the GM, Trent Balke, who has a huge ego or the owner, Jed York. And in the end, Jim left. It was not sustainable. We watched Monday Night Football. Here's what I believe is sustainable in the NFL. Both the Rams and the Chiefs. Let's start with the Rams.
Starting point is 01:29:21 Great owner. great coach, great young quarterback, early adapters, LA Market, building a stadium, free agency hotbed. This is sustainable for a decade. Leadership, owner, less need, GM, coach, quarterback. The Kansas City Chiefs, let's talk about them. I believe that is sustainable. Excellent, stable ownership from the Hunt family.
Starting point is 01:29:50 Andy Reed, one of the great play designers of my life. Patrick Mahomes, a world-class far-like talent. Let me give you two teams in the NFL that a lot of people like, I don't think are sustainable. I think they'll be more like the Niners, more like the Romo Cowboys, more like the Seahawks. Two teams in the NFL like that. Number one, the Chicago Bears.
Starting point is 01:30:15 I do not think they're going to be this shiny and fun in five years. It's a lot of smoke and mirrors. It's a lot of tricks. It's a lot of copperfield. It's a lot of optical illusion. The league has historically caught up to that. And the other team is the Dallas Cowboys.
Starting point is 01:30:36 I don't think they'll be terrible, but I think they have a limited quarterback. They have an impulsive, overly loyal owner. They have an offensive line. Anybody notice it's getting a little worse every year, a little more banged up every year, a little older every year. And by the way, despite the fact,
Starting point is 01:30:55 they're paying DAC less than a Seattle disc jockey, they don't have any cap space. And that's generally not the way it works. We think in this league, even going back to that Jerry Jones picture, stuff is sustainable always. And it is not. Romo fell apart.
Starting point is 01:31:14 Des sort of fell apart emotionally. Jason Witten retired. None of those guys are around anymore. Coming up next, Dante Jones. I think the Lakers' next star is available today. Bradley Beale, Washington, a team admitting. They're breaking up the band, John Wall and Bradley Beale. They're trading all the parts.
Starting point is 01:31:34 If I'm the Lakers, do I go out and get it? And how is LeBron treated tonight as a Laker going back to Cleveland? Dante Jones, coming up. Cinex nasal spray, 12 hours, congestion strikes, cold and flu season. uses directed Vix Synex nasal spray. 13 NBA years, originally drafted by the Boston Celtics, so why not wear the green?
Starting point is 01:31:56 Wow, that's what we're doing? Well, I think it looks very... Tie the green in it. Never a game in a Celtics jersey, so it doesn't really count. You were drafted by him, so you're giving them respect for at least acknowledging your talent out of Duke. I appreciate you guys. Oh, by the way, Jay Williams came out and said Duke could beat the Cavs.
Starting point is 01:32:17 I love Jason Williams and I love Duke Like don't get me wrong But you have professionals Playing against kids And it's a group of kids And while their starters may be comparable That bench is what is going to take over a game like that And Tristan Thompson would dominate any big
Starting point is 01:32:36 That they have on their roster Because he's he's I don't think he under Jason doesn't understand how strong And how mobile and how Like how much of a defensive force Tristan is So yes Duke is a great college team, but please do not disrespect a professional and what they break to the game now. Yeah, by the way, your two points are great.
Starting point is 01:32:54 The bench would be a complete utter mismatch. Jordan Clarkson. Would just be a mismatch. It would be too fast. Zion Williamson, by the way, is really special. Yes. But in the NBA, they'd be like, oh, kid, shoot. Keep shooting.
Starting point is 01:33:08 Keep shooting. That's what they do. You guys make everybody hit. The space would be great for him. And the speed of the game, he would be a dominant force in that game as well. Barrett would be as well. I'm impressed with those guys because of their energy and their love and their passion for each other and the game. Like,
Starting point is 01:33:23 they cheer each other on more than than they cheer about their own personal plays. So they do a good job as a cohesive unit. Okay, LeBron's your friend. You played with him on a title with him. You talk to him regularly. He's going to Cleveland tonight. What if they bow him? I don't
Starting point is 01:33:39 expect those fans to. I have a I have an appreciation for that fan base in Cleveland. And I think they'll remember him for all the great things he's done on and off the court. And I don't see it as a city that's going to boom. I see as a city that's going to celebrate him and be appreciative of the moments that they had and understand that moving on does not mean that I don't like you.
Starting point is 01:34:00 It's just that I just want to change the scenery. By the way, I've said before, I think a lot of the move was Dan Gilbert. There has a history in the NBA of being owners that are not player friendly. I said yesterday, if you look at the bus family, they're close to Kobe, close to magic, close to worthy. their history is they like their players. They become part of the family. Dale and Gilbert kind of butchered the LeBron thing twice.
Starting point is 01:34:23 I feel that he didn't leave Cleveland. I thought he was in a relationship with an owner he didn't trust. Is that unfair? That's not unfair. And just because two people do not get along that are not friends does not mean it. Either one is wrong. It's just that that wasn't their type of relationship. And the Buss family, Dr. Buss, did a great job of creating relationships of his players
Starting point is 01:34:42 and creating a family organization to where. guys felt like they were a part of something bigger than themselves. Do you think it would bother LeBron if he was booed tonight? I think it would because he has an affection for that city. He has an affection for Akron. And he takes pride in where he comes from. And he takes pride in the fact that he was able to do that for that city and give them that opportunity and have that trophy remain through history that came through Cleveland.
Starting point is 01:35:09 You told me before it happened, and I promised they wouldn't tell anybody. but you kind of told me before it happened. You said he's going to be a Laker. I just feel it. Not that you were. Right. That wasn't from a conversation with him. That was just from knowing the person that he is,
Starting point is 01:35:25 knowing how he thinks. If I had to put my money down, I'd say that he was going to be a Laker. Do you think he's happy right now with how it's working in L.A.? I think he's happy because it's an opportunity where he has to push himself to be better and challenge himself.
Starting point is 01:35:37 And he's always trying to be better. Knowing him as a person, he never wants to be stagnant and stuck in, one part of life. He always wants to be better and see how far he can push himself. And I think the Lakers jersey right now, the way the roster is constructed, the way
Starting point is 01:35:51 they're moving, trying to move in the upper direction is pushing him to be better and pushing him to do some more things on the court. By the way, I said this yesterday. You can tell me you're going to get Anthony Davis two years. You can tell me you're going to get flaky Kevin Durant. You can tell me you're going to get Clay Thompson. You could have Bradley
Starting point is 01:36:07 Beal now. You could say, we'll give you KCP, we'll give you Kuzma, Josh Hart. Bradley Beal averages 21 a game with a very difficult point guard in John Wall, who can be a little distracted, play a little fast, not the greatest cohort. I'm just going to throw it out there. I know he's 25 large a year. But if I told you, you could give up some pieces and bring Bradley Beal to LeBron.
Starting point is 01:36:31 Does it make sense to you? It makes absolute sense. And me and you agree with that Clay Thompson is a perfect compliment to LeBron. He would be perfect. He would be perfect. But Bradley Bill is right under him. Right now. And he hasn't had the ability to play with players like Clay Thompson has.
Starting point is 01:36:45 So I think they are comparable talents. And if you have the opportunity to get Bradley Bill, I think that's something you have to explore because he is an all-star. He's a fierce competitor. He's a knockdown shooter. He's 25 years old. He's 25 years old. He doesn't need a ball in his hand to be effective. And that is something that is special that does not come around that often.
Starting point is 01:37:03 I think him and Clay Thompson are unique talents like that where they can affect the game without having the ball in their hands and are knock-down shooters and defend as well. and are good character guys. So I think that would be something you really have to look at. And it would be a great addition to the Lakers, something to build with going forward. And I think you pointed out to something, good dude. Like you'd want to hang with this guy. He's got two and a half years in the contract. It's a little, I'd rather pay him 19 a year, not 25, but that's the NBA today.
Starting point is 01:37:29 I can live with that. I agree with you. Let me ask you about, listen, I've always thought that KD's, you know, the player. I always thought A-Rodd was a better talent than Jeter, but Jeter was the glue to the Yankees, right? Some guys are the talent. Some guys play the game. Some guys think the game. Some guys do both.
Starting point is 01:37:45 When I look at the Warriors, Steph's out for a couple weeks. Hell, KD's unraveling a little, right? Like, what do you make of this? I make that they are more of a unit. And I've been preaching that they are not as much individual talents as the greatest team. And they're an example of how a team can win and magnify talents. step being out but Sean Livingston being a little banged up Clay having bouts with injuries
Starting point is 01:38:14 Dreyman being a little banged up the bench not being as strong no veteran leadership at the back of their bench like those are things that Andre Godala battering a little bit of an injury bug like those are things they never had to deal with before and especially all at the same time and then the mental struggle of the of the beef between Draymond and KD that mental distraction they never had to deal with all these things at one time like most NBA teams do.
Starting point is 01:38:38 And that's where the perfect storm happened with them, where they had so many things line up for them. The stars were aligned for so many years, and they just were able to function in those things. And now they have to function with a bunch of distractions and piece this thing together like most NBA teams do. By the way, the gap with LeBron and KD, to me a huge component, Joy said this yesterday,
Starting point is 01:39:00 there is an emotional gap. LeBron is on social media. You know, like, you know, he sees every, He doesn't have to comment on everything. Some guys have rabbit ears. Like, right? Katie's got a little case of rabid ears. Katie's, he just, he's affected more by the comments. He is.
Starting point is 01:39:17 It doesn't make him a bad person. It's just that he looks at the comment section. Some people don't. Some people post for themselves. Some people post for other people. Some people care about what someone feels about you that has no effect on your career. It just is what is. That's just what social media does to some people and some different personalities.
Starting point is 01:39:36 And I just, that's where he likes. Have you ever play with a teammate that was sensitive? All the time. As men, we are very sensitive. And we don't admit it, but we are. But you're sensitive? I'm sensitive, yes. Have you ever just left this network and cried on the way home?
Starting point is 01:39:48 No, but that doesn't mean that I'm not sensitive because I'm not going to cry, but I am sensitive to different things. I have different triggers than you. Yeah, minor kids. What are yours? Your jumpers off? We'll think about it. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:40:03 I don't know off hand, but I am sensitive, yes. Are you sensitive to that green suit? Yes. I'm sensitive to my green suit, yes. You seem very sensitive initially. I told you I'm a black, gray, and blue guy. And I know you just threw it. It's way out there. You threw it way out there, green, yeah. I might come orange next time.
Starting point is 01:40:19 Same to you and yours. Dante Jones. Joy Taylor with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. I don't wear suits, Colin, but do you think that you could pull off a green suit? Well, I think it's very classy. Dante is usually a dark-colored shirt shirt.
Starting point is 01:40:36 sweater coat guy. He's more, he's got a very LA chic. He's got a Brentwood feel to him. This feels more like you know what this feels like? He's at the Elks Lodge tonight. He's performing at the... It's a nice suit on day.
Starting point is 01:40:51 All right. So Mark Al Fultz is having some shooting issues this season. Yeah, you think? His agent informed the 76ers that Fultz will see a shoulder specialist in New York to address the issue. However, GM LL
Starting point is 01:41:06 and Brand said that this caught him off guard. There's nothing that we saw medically that didn't allow him to play. He played last night. He played two nights ago. Ever since Jimmy Butler came and he wasn't starting, I felt he played pretty well. I was proud of him. The way he bounced back from a lot of things. I had to why Monday he said that's the best time they could get an appointment.
Starting point is 01:41:28 So I'm like, you know, I thought they might move it up for him, but I guess not until Monday's the appointment. I think Elton, what he really wants to say is? What the hell's going on here? What the hell's going on here? Well, first of all, what kind of shoulder specialists is the number one pick in the NBA drafts going to that just can't seem to fit him in at the time that he needs? I mean, I guess it's last minute. I don't know. But it's a fair question by Alton Brand.
Starting point is 01:41:57 And also, what does that have to do? If you're not injured, this is all mental. You know what, though? Honestly, if he goes to the shoulder specialist, and they tell him to do something and it fixes his shot, then more power to you. Because this is a mental thing that's going on with him right now because obviously they're saying he's not hurt.
Starting point is 01:42:15 I don't know. We'll see. You're going to need to start shooting properly sooner later. Such a weird story. It is. All right. So the shootout between the Rams and Chiefs lives up to the hype on Monday nights.
Starting point is 01:42:26 On Tuesday, Bill Belichick-filled reporters, he caught some of the game. He caught some of the game. And when he was asked about his takeaway from the game, he gave a very Belichekian response. Really, yeah, the Jets. That's my takeaway. Getting ready for the Jets.
Starting point is 01:42:42 He's so boring. He's such a grump. You know what? He loves this, too. There's no way he doesn't go back and just laugh at how, his delivery on it. It's honestly like a Saturday life skid.
Starting point is 01:42:58 So ridiculous. I'm going to wait for the Jets. Yeah, the Jets. M. all I care about is the Jets. Yeah, and I mean, not to make fun of the Jets, but like... Sam Donald's not going to have a good weekend. Rookie quarterbacks against Uncle Bill, don't do well.
Starting point is 01:43:16 Don't go well. Finally, last Monday, Kevin Durant and Jemong Green had a very heated argument at the end of the regulation with the Clippers. We were just talking about this with Dante. They say they've squashed everything, but there's some tension still lingering for the Warriors. And Sean Livingston said he can't wait to see the day all of this is in the rearview mirror. but he insists that the media has been relentless. He said in this locker room, we're all trying to let it go. Durant is trying to let it go, but it's tough when everyone else is trying to keep it going.
Starting point is 01:43:45 Well, when Kevin... No one is trying to keep this story going. You guys are going for your third consecutive championship. You are the top dog at everybody in the NBA is coming for. And your squabbles are public. Your squabbles are right on the sideline. On television. In front of everyone.
Starting point is 01:44:02 Nobody's probing in your locker room. to hear stuff through the walls. You're doing it in front of us. Like, what do you want us to do? Nobody's trying to make this a thing. It is a thing. If my wife threw a lampshade at me at the Thanksgiving party and people are like, you know, I think they've got an issue,
Starting point is 01:44:17 that's not probing. That's like we're throwing stuff at each other. That's what's happening to the war. This is not a rumor. Everyone saw it. Yes. And then everyone saw Katie flip out. And then everybody saw everything that Katie is doing on social media.
Starting point is 01:44:30 None of it. They've all talked about it. It's something that has to be. discussed. You know, the Golden State Warriors, we're going to discuss you. It's Kevin Duran. It's Steph Curry. Top players in the NBA. It's going to, it's, nobody's making this a thing. Joy of the
Starting point is 01:44:43 news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Lye News. Well, usually I do this on Friday, but this is really, to me, one of the seminal weekends of a sport I love, college football. You have, not only do
Starting point is 01:45:00 you have tremendous rivalries this weekend, but these games are really important. Coaches will lose their jobs. Coaches will shape their legacies this weekend. Let's talk about the big four games. Spoiler alert. Warning, Colin is about to reveal the outcomes of the biggest college football games this week. If you don't want to know exactly what's going to happen, turn away now. All right, let's start with a game of the weekend here on Fox. It is Michigan favored by a little more than a field goal against the Ohio State. Ohio State has been off for months.
Starting point is 01:45:38 Something's not right defensively. They can't run the football. Michigan has the best defense statistically in college football. The third down defense is one of the top in football. Michigan's pretty simple team to figure out. They run the ball. They eat up the clock. They play keep away.
Starting point is 01:45:54 And their defensive coordinator, Don Brown, after Nick Savans, probably the smartest defensive guy in Congress. college football. Turn away. Here's the score. I think Michigan is going to beat Ohio State 27 to 20. It'll be close. It's in Columbus, 2720 Michigan. Number two, Oklahoma and West Virginia. This is going to be a very interesting game. Now, Oklahoma has beaten West Virginia six straight times since they joined the Big 12. There's going to be a lot of points here. Kyler Murray, the quarterback for Oklahoma. They're averaging more points since Baker Mayfield left. So this is Oklahoma. They lead college football in yards per play.
Starting point is 01:46:38 And they've actually, Oklahoma has won 19 game, true road games. That's the longest in the country, including Alabama. They went to Ohio State. They can win. Oklahoma's a good road team. Now, West Virginia can light it up. They've got an NFL quarterback in Will Greer. But turn away. I think, Oklahoma wins 48-41. Again, this is going to be a really competitive game. This is the conference. These are two great offensive coaches. Oklahoma wins.
Starting point is 01:47:10 Next up, near and dear to my heart, the Apple Cup. Washington and Chris Peterson's had his way through the years with Mike Leach, crazy Mike Leach in Washington State. Listen, Washington State's the opposite of Michigan. They just don't even try to run the football. They just throw the football every play. Now, Washington is susceptible. They're much better at Husky Stadium.
Starting point is 01:47:30 They've lost their last two road games, and their offense sputters on the road. And you've got to score 30 points to win in Pullman. We've seen teams. I remember good USC teams with Pete Carroll going on the road, and average Wazoo teams could score points in them. So last week, Washington State scored 69 points in that over 600 yards. Washington's going to try to pound it with running back Miles Gaskin. and my feeling here upset, spoiler alert.
Starting point is 01:48:01 I think Washington State wins by a field goal or so. 3430 Coogs. Breaks my heart. Finally, Notre Dame is at USC, and Notre Dame is winning a lot of football games. The last 22 times Notre Dame played a football game, there are 20 wins and two losses. Brian Kelly early in the year went to a quarterback Ian Book,
Starting point is 01:48:21 and he's been terrific. He's a kid that drops the throw. He's got a little Drew Brees in it. and he completes passes over and over. Second in college football and completion percentage. And Notre Dame has taken control of this series. Clay Hilton could have kept his job had he beaten a bad UCLA team. They don't want to let him go.
Starting point is 01:48:41 They do not. But the offense has sputtered. They can't run the football at all at USC. The drives will be short. Notre Dame is going to get it back over and over, have 13 or 14 possessions. Spoiler alert, Notre Dame wins 3720. Let me just say this. Let me go on about Brian Kelly for a second.
Starting point is 01:48:58 I said this earlier today with Joel Clatt, and Joel acknowledged it wasn't one of my worst takes. There are times in life. I've been a good bailer in my life. I kind of have known when to leave companies. I've had a good feeling local TV, local radio. Yeah, I can kind of sense when it's time to go. I think it's a great time for Brian Kelly to go.
Starting point is 01:49:17 And Nick Saban's going to end his career there. He tried the NFL, didn't work. Dabo Swinney's not an NFL guy. Brian Kelly put his name. I was told this a couple years ago amongst, you know, agents, see if the NFL is interested. Brian Kelly can coach in the NFL. He reminds me a lot of Tom Coughlin, who was at Boston College, Jacksonville. Now, Brian, this is as good as Notre Dame can be right now.
Starting point is 01:49:42 They've got academic restrictions that in Alabama Clemson don't have. No junior college guys are not taking in transfer. It's hard to win there. It is private. It is cold weather. It is isolated. They're not in a power conference full time, and they play a very tough schedule. I think Brian Kelly, everybody was bagging on this guy a couple years ago.
Starting point is 01:49:58 It's been a bumpy ride. I think he's a great coach. And when he gets to the playoffs, I don't think he's going to win over Clemson or Alabama if he played him. I don't think it's the craziest time to go. I think he's put in his time. I don't think Notre Dame is a job you do forever. It's a tough place to coach. The expectations don't meet reality.
Starting point is 01:50:16 You know, at Northwestern, if Pat Fitzgerald wins eight games, they're appreciative. It's a private school. It's Stanford, a private school. If David Chow wins nine games, they're appreciative. If you don't win 11 at Notre Dame, you know, they're bringing up Aira Parsigan. I think Brian Kelly's great, done a great job. I think it's time. Win or lose in a playoff, and I don't think they'd beat Clemson or Alabama.
Starting point is 01:50:37 Wouldn't be a terrible time to leave. All right, coming up next, one of my favorite segments, the holiday edition of Monday's headlines today with Jason McIntyre. I love this segment. Saturday, buckle up for one of the Pierce's rival reasons. All of Sports is number four Michigan and number 10 Ohio State Battle for a spot in the Big Ten Championship. Coverage begins at 11 a.m. Eastern on Fox or watch anywhere on the Fox Sports app. For the record, do not go anywhere. You're not going to believe a story that is developing right now.
Starting point is 01:51:08 You're not going to believe it. I'll have it in six or seven minutes. Do not go away. You're not going to believe the story. By the way, now through Thanksgiving, 23 and Me ancestry kits, 49 bucks per kit when you buy two or more. These are fun. 23.com.com slash the herd. McIntyre. We bring him on Fridays usually, but it's our last time this week we are on until next Monday. Where are you going for the holiday? I'm hanging out at home. Oh, nice.
Starting point is 01:51:35 I'll come by. All right, sure. I love inviting myself. 35 people at our house tomorrow. Going to be a zoo. Yes, nice. With the cowherd grotto tomorrow. Okay, we call this Monday's headlines today. Redskins at the Cowboys on Fox tomorrow. First place
Starting point is 01:51:50 on the line, J. Mack. Yeah, everybody's been wrong about Dak. I was wrong. I sat here last week. I was bashing Dak, but listen, he's really controlled the football. And we'll get to it in a second. But I believe when they defeat the Redskins tomorrow, the headline will be, you don't know Dak. Now, let me say this, coward.
Starting point is 01:52:10 That is brutal. The last two weeks, no turnovers for Dak Prescott. The last time he faced the Redskins, two fumbles, had a fumble and a pick against the Titans. It's basically, remember in elementary school your teacher would say, Colin, kiss it. Keep it simple, stupid. You remember that? Yeah. That's all Dak has to do. Don't make really bad mistakes. Hand the ball off to Zeke. When Ezekiel Elliott has 140 or more yards, they're 14 and 0. It's pretty basic at this point, is it not?
Starting point is 01:52:38 Yeah, and their defensive front seven's real. And this is good for the playoffs. All of a sudden, Dallas Cowboys. Who are you watching? They're Redskins in the playoffs with Colt McCoy or the Dallas Cowboys. Okay. Monday's headlines today. The Saints host of Falcons tomorrow, New Orleans is one-nine straight. You know, I was driving back from Palm Springs today, and I heard a little bit of your show, and I've been hearing this week, listen, this whole, who's going to win the MVP is quite stupid at this point, right? I believe the headline will be after Drew Breeze destroys the Falcons tomorrow,
Starting point is 01:53:12 dumbest MVP debate ever. I mean, it's stupid, right? At this point, six games left in the season, and it's a formality. It's got to be Drew Breeze. Colin, he has one interception this season. One turnover. I don't want to hear Pat Mahomes. He had five turnovers in one game.
Starting point is 01:53:28 Like, Pat Mahomes has been great. Take nothing away. It's Drew Breeze. Like, how is this even a discussion? It's got to be. Like, what is the argument against Drew Breeze at this point? First of all, nobody can make a logical one. And Brady and Rogers are both.
Starting point is 01:53:42 Brady's been, listen, we talked about Brady off air. One TD in the last three weeks. Yes. He's not been nearly as good as Drew Breese is. Okay. Sunday Eagles host the Giants last place on the line, Monday's headlines today. Did you just say last place on the line? That is, it is. Is there a bigger dumpster fire than the Philadelphia Eagles at this point?
Starting point is 01:54:02 I just looked at their practice report today. Their four starting cornerbacks from the beginning of the season are not practicing today. They got to face Odell Beckham. The headline Monday will be, you're going to love this. Cry Eagles cry. I like that. You know they say fly Eagles. Exactly, yes.
Starting point is 01:54:18 Hey, listen, I know you love the Colts and you're bullish on the Colts. Their head coach, Frank Reich, is sorely missed in Philadelphia. There's no question about that. I mean, people want to deny that. Like, they're not very good right now. And I keep saying Carson Wentz, what is he? He was close to the MVP last year. What is he right now?
Starting point is 01:54:37 Does he look like a star to you? Well, yes, he does. I think his talent is star impressive. I will say this. They do not. Golden Tate hasn't worked. Listen, coaching matters. Frank Reich is crushing it with Andrew Luck.
Starting point is 01:54:53 I think it's one of these classic, you know, don't just judge a guy, Frank Reich, by what happens where he lands, what happened to where he left. Philadelphia is not as tight offensively. And they missed DiFilippo, my guy from, we went to college together. He's now with the Vikings.
Starting point is 01:55:07 Oh, really? Yeah. It's a weird spot in Philadelphia. Maybe Doug Peterson will write another book about how much of a genius he is in the off season. I mean, maybe he'll do that. Oh, boom. It seems like a fun thing to do.
Starting point is 01:55:17 All right. College Football Saturday, in number four, Michigan at number 10 Ohio State on Fox Monday's headlines today. How about your Urban Meyer little scoop there, huh? It did some good traffic on the big lead this week. Thank you very much. Good stuff. I believe Michigan goes into the horseshoe and wins.
Starting point is 01:55:32 And I think convincingly, and I believe the headline will be Jim Harbaugh's first win versus the Buckeyes since 1980s. He was a quarterback on that team. He was indeed. You know, I've talked to some people in the search firm business, and they've dealt with Harbaugh before. They said the number one thing when he went back to Michigan wasn't to win a title. It was to win a Big Ten title. I think he
Starting point is 01:55:55 takes down Ohio State this week. They capture the Big Ten. We know they'll dispatch Northwestern in the Big Ten title game. And then the question is, can they play with Alabama? And I'm being serious here. Not the semifinal, but in the national championship. If somehow they're the three seed
Starting point is 01:56:11 and they get to play Alabama in the title game. As you proclaim, if they clobber Ohio State. I mean, let's say it's like 34 to 14. There are going to be people that, listen, you know how it works. The last thing
Starting point is 01:56:27 you saw. And if Clemson looked crappy, there is a chance they could leap people. Because again, their loss is, you know, two and a half months ago. And does USC look good against Notre Dame? No. Notre Dame smokes them. Because that would help Michigan. I just want to say the numbers,
Starting point is 01:56:43 guys, they think Michigan is a better team than Notre Dame despite the loss early in the season. So if you look at like, you know, I do all this gambling stuff on the podcast, I'm telling you, Michigan's a better team right now than Notre Dame. They should probably be three. And I think they would have a chance in the championship, not in the semifinal because Nick Saban will pick them apart. And finally, Warriors face the Thunder tonight.
Starting point is 01:57:06 Warriors could lose four straight for the first time since 2013. Monday's headlines today. If you're looking for a bet tonight, the OKC Thunder are the team. Listen, you know I'm a big Kevin Durant fan. We've, whatever. I think this is getting ugly for the Warriors. I mean, you saw the video of him screaming at a fan. I know, dropping, yeah, I did.
Starting point is 01:57:26 I do you need that, KD? I think the cloud is hovering. I think the headline come Monday. Dremont no longest, no longer craziest Golden State warrior. It's getting ugly internally. Some of the stuff to trickle him. He fired back at me. Now, KD and you, you guys talk.
Starting point is 01:57:43 We're friendly. I hope he's not watching. this yeah segment. Now he's gone radio silent in the last week with all this Draymond stuff. But yeah, you saw this video like, weird. Dude, you're the best player on the planet. Who cares what this dope in Dallas is saying? Like,
Starting point is 01:57:57 serious. And I do wonder if he leaves the Warriors, is he getting a taste of what life's going to be like on the New York Knicks? Because they're this bad. They're losing I mean, the Knicks, even when they get Porzingis, they're not going to be good. It's going to get worse if he goes to New York, which is why I keep
Starting point is 01:58:13 coming back to the Lakers. That's the one team that makes sense. Are you feeling that? I'm a little bit. Here's what I'm feeling. So this story broke today. Aaron Rogers, I just, I, so Aaron Rogers came out, Packer
Starting point is 01:58:28 quarterback. People think I'm anti-Rogers. I'm like, no, he's difficult. I've known five, four guys who have played with him. They're all like, he's difficult. He's not the greatest guy all the time. So he came out with his Northern California support firefighters and support families. And I saw it this morning. His brother
Starting point is 01:58:45 came out. Jordan Rogers, his brother on the internet said, please donate, spread awareness, and send love. But when your own mom's home, during the fires, car park, ready to evacuate, you missed a fundamental first step of compassion, calling
Starting point is 01:59:01 your parents to make sure they're safe. Everything else just feels like an act. His brother crushes him. By the way, his brother's crushed him. His dad's crushed him. Multiple teammates have crushed him. Many teammates. People think
Starting point is 01:59:16 Aaron Rogers is not the greatest guy. That's why I say Breeze, his likeability, if he wins a number of Super Bowl, history is going to be kind to Drew Breeze. Let's be fair. I mean, Michael Jordan slug teammates, okay? It can get lonely at the top, Colin. You know that.
Starting point is 01:59:32 Yeah. And maybe Aaron Rogers is in a spot right now. Come on. Your brother's calling you out. I'm trying to defend him. It's a tough spot. So I hosted this panel a couple years ago with a former Green Bay Packers tight end. And I was off air. I'm like, hey, what about Rogers? He's like, dude, that guy was a jerk.
Starting point is 01:59:49 This guy was a rookie walked in the building. Michael Finley. Thanks for that. Yeah, I don't think he'll care. But he told me Aaron Rogers walked by him. This guy was a rookie. And Aaron Rogers, like, wouldn't even make eye contact acknowledge him. Just a total jerk. And he's eventually Finley went to the coaches and was like, hey, what's going on? Does he hate me? What did I do?
Starting point is 02:00:07 So the coaches had to broker it. And Finley and Rogers had to make one hour each week to meet up and talk to generate a friendship. Like, that's not a welcoming atmosphere to a rookie. You know, you want to make everybody feel at home. Like, you walk the halls here at FS1. You're saying hi to everybody. Yes. You know, and like, Joy is very popular in the bill says hi to everybody.
Starting point is 02:00:28 You've got to be friendly. That's like the basic rule in life. And when you see this report, man. It's bad. I mean, it's tricky because it's family stuff. It's never really have the whole story. story. No, I'm not saying it, first of all, I think it's really unfortunate. I would never do this with my
Starting point is 02:00:48 sister. My sister would never do this with me. I just don't like it at all. No, we got to fight. It's Thanksgiving time. I'm going to see you. There is Joy A, drip, drip, drip, drip. You know, before the faucet breaks, there's drip, drip, drip, we have Greg Jennings, Jermichael Finley, brothers, dads, players. We have multiple people calling out Aaron Rogers. No, there's something to this. This is just, this is messy.
Starting point is 02:01:12 This is unfortunate with the timing, too. Like the fires, Thanksgiving, like, I mean, oh. And again, I've said it before. He's a first ballot hall of famer. But at some point, if Aaron Rogers walked up to me, I'd say, your brother called you out. I mean, once your brother calls you out, it's not a me issue. That's a you issue. So what's the move here if you're in Rogers?
Starting point is 02:01:35 Do you call your mom first? Do you call your brother? Do you just let it go and not care? I mean, I think you have to do something at this point. The media is going to ask them about it this weekend. They have to. That's their job. You know his reaction.
Starting point is 02:01:48 Here's Aaron Rogers' reaction. That stuff is unfortunate, but you know, I'm in the middle of a football season, and I owe my team focus. That's exactly what he's going to say. He's going to give you. Not bad, actually. That's kind of what he's going to say. I think he does.
Starting point is 02:02:03 He tends to pause and go, he'll do one of those lip things. He'll go, oh. It hurts. It's unfortunate, but I'm in the middle of a football season. Which is what he should say, because this is family stuff. It's just going to continue to spiral. But Joy, I mean, you can say that, but the brother's not laying off. He's continuing the bombing on social media.
Starting point is 02:02:25 Well, the brother's also not Aaron Rogers. This is the guy who was on the Bachelor, whatever, Bachelorette, one of those. I don't want to. Works for ESPN? Wow. Maybe. Oh, the SEC Network, dude. But this is bad.
Starting point is 02:02:37 This is a bad. man, there's a difference between brother and sister having issues. I'm not saying his family is not a little needy. I mean, that could be the issue too. I don't know his family. I don't know any. I've met Aaron once. I'm not saying there's not some neediness from the family.
Starting point is 02:02:53 But I'll tell you, by the way, I have another story. Another scoop. No, I'll tell you off the air in conjunction with this thing. And then can I go put it on social meet? I'll put on my Instagram this weekend. Is that how works? It's a story, but I don't want to. All right, Monday's headlines today, Jason.
Starting point is 02:03:08 McIntyre, great seeing you, but if you have the dreaded cold and flu, it's coming. If you get it, try VIX. Sinex nasal spray. Can last to 12 hours, up to 12 hours when congestion strikes, and that's no fun. Vix Sinex nasal spray, use
