A blazing six.
I like my picks so much.
I'm giving you an additional pick.
It's like I'm paying for your Christmas presents.
I mean, seriously, you should be guilty at this point.
Peter King joins us in studio next hour.
Joy Taylor is here.
I got a lot of energy.
I have a lot of energy.
Fired up this morning.
It was a great game, though, last night.
I was entertaining.
Lamar's entertaining, okay?
Let me start with something I really like.
When I started doing this for a living, this broadcasting thing, people said,
oh, you're just a contrarian.
And I said, no, one of the things in life I really enjoy doing in this business is taking rigid people and stuck in their way guy and never seen it other than their opinion guy and making them go,
that's a different way to see the world.
I like doing that because I think there's no one way to do most things.
I think there are certain life habits and traits that make you more successful.
But Lamar Jackson's doing that, and I love it.
He's taking people who see football played one way, and you have to look at it a different way.
I love – he's a little bit of a football, not only a disruptor, but a contrarian.
I mean, there are a time of possession offense, but they're a big play offense.
They play 100 miles an hour, but they make no mistakes.
They're a ground and pound team, but they average almost nine yards.
a catch last night. The league is not used to this. And they're making everybody go,
whoa, you can't be that and that. And I've had several friends who have gone to a game
where Lamar plays. And they're like, oh, he's better in person. He's actually better in person.
He's faster in person. So that's what I love. Now, let me tell you something I don't love
about the whole Lamar thing. Can we stop ripping people because Lamar dropped to late in the first round?
does everybody realize the Ravens didn't pick him first?
The Ravens drafted a tight end in the first round before him.
So if the Ravens were so, oh my God, we knew this was going to.
They drafted a backup tight end before him.
They didn't even get the tight ends right.
They drafted two tight ends in the draft.
The second one they drafted is way better than the first.
They didn't know if Lamar was going to be this good.
They thought he was a project.
That's why they moved up to get him late first round so they could get that extra year in his contract.
because privately they're like, he's good.
We think this could take a while.
And if you watched him last year, in two or three games,
you're like, oh, he's a little bit of a project.
He worked his butt off.
They figured out how to use him.
Greg Roman's amazing.
That's the part of this I don't like.
Joe Montana went in the third round.
Tom Brady in the six.
I still don't know if Dak and Kirk Cousins are any good.
It's a hard position to figure out.
And he was a hard guy.
I saw him and Josh Allen's projects.
I thought they'd work.
I just saw it would take it a while.
and by the way, both are very good.
Lamar's going to be the MVP.
So that's the thing I like.
He's making us look differently at football.
The thing I don't like is stop.
The Ravens picked him second in the first round.
But here's the thing that really amazes me.
When you watch young quarterback, Sam Darnold sometimes plays very young.
Baker not only plays young, but sounds young at the podium.
Kyler Murray sometimes makes young guy mistakes.
Josh Allen's good, but he still looks young.
Lamar doesn't look young.
The game's not overwhelming him.
I tend to look at a quarterback's feet.
Are they nervous?
Are they dancing around?
Are they...
When I can see Lamar's feet because they're moving so fast, the game doesn't overwhelm Lamar.
In fact, he's overwhelming the game.
And some of this is because he played quarterback in high school for three years.
He started and he got 25, 26 starts in.
And then he went to college and he played early and he got 35 college starts in.
So he's been playing quarterback for a long time.
And this has been his style.
But I have a friend who used to be a professional water skier, and he tried to teach me how to water ski.
And I remember getting up there thinking, oh, my God, we're going so fast.
Oh, my God.
He's like, you're almost going the slowest you can go and still stay afloat.
But with Lamar, because he's been playing at 100 miles an hour like a race car driver, going 75 for him is pumping the brakes.
Lamar plays at a speed in which he's totally comfortable playing at the speed and nobody else is comfortable.
The game gets too fast for Sam Darnold, for Baker, for Kyler.
I thought early it was too fast.
But it's not too fast for him because he is lightning speed.
He's been driving a race car for 60 starts and 75 miles an hour for him is slowing it down.
His decision making is remarkable considering the speed in which he plays.
And I know a lot of people are on the whole month.
Michael Vic thing and he broke Michael Vick's record.
I don't care about that.
I'm not a stat guy.
I just don't care.
I like data, but I'm not into, you know, Heismans and stats.
But if you want to compare him, I will.
He's more mature than Michael Vick was coming into the league.
He's a much better thrower than Kaepernick was.
He's much more focused than Cam Newton.
He reminds me of a more athletic Steve Young, a little bit like a super fast
Russell Wilson.
He's a lot of several people.
But I'll go back to the thing that makes him special.
Between his first year and his second year, he's a grown-up.
He listened to the criticism.
Unlike Baker, he wasn't ticked by it.
He used it as jet fuel.
He got thicker.
He worked on his passing.
He's coachable.
He's mature.
He defines what a franchise quarterback.
A lot of guys are fast.
That doesn't mean you're a franchise quarterback.
It's the maturity, the understanding, the big.
big picture. Now, I still think this offseason, he needs to go to a baseball camp and learn how to
slide. And I guarantee you, he will because he's coachable. Franchise quarterback's not just about,
man, he's got a big arm. Wow, he's fast. After the game, he had this to say, and it goes back to,
this is 30% of quarterback is the other stuff. We know as tangibles are good. It's the intangibles.
Here they are again on display. It's pretty cool. I don't know when I'm
I broke it.
Very early.
I told you, congratulations.
Okay, okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah, I was trying to be locked in.
No, you know, I was trying to be locked in.
The whole entire game, you know, the goal is to win, you know, not break a record.
But I'm happy.
You know, my teammates happen for me.
It's Michael Vick, so it's amazing, man.
I'm grateful.
Didn't really care about it.
Didn't really remember breaking it.
Wasn't a big deal.
Didn't say get me the football.
I love that he's making all of the.
of us who have watched football forever see it differently.
He's a contrarian without even trying to be.
I love that.
I am tired of, how did anybody pass on him?
The Ravens did.
But his ability, his split decisions, his nimble, twitchy mind that gets things done
quickly with no mistakes is fascinating.
And when you play that fast, I guess 75 miles an hour is fast for everybody else.
And it's slow for you.
Love watching him play.
All right, so let's shift gears to Troy Aikman is a former Hall of Fame quarterback, obviously, and now a broadcaster for Fox.
And he was talking about something we joined, I have discussed, how good are the Cowboys actually?
And Aikman was talking about their talent, and here he goes.
I've reached out to a lot of people around the league.
I've studied them on film, and there are coaches that think this is an overrated roster.
Okay, and it's interesting.
maybe it is and I tend to agree.
But when you talk great, not very good, Amari Cooper's very good, but Zeke is a great talent,
probably the first or second best player in the league at his position.
The Cowboys have four great players.
Tyron Smith went healthy left tackle, Travis Frederick the center,
Zach Martin, maybe the best offensive lineman currently at right guard, and Zeke.
Those are great players.
Those are Hall of Fame level players.
Now, Amari Cooper, Jalen Smith are very good.
Wouldn't put him great yet.
Well, let's look at Baltimore.
So Lamar Jackson right now, he's great.
And Earl Thomas, the safety, is great.
And Ronnie Stanley left tackle is great.
And Marshall Yonda, right guard, is great.
And then they got about three really, really good players,
Mark Ingram, Mark Andrews, Jimmy Smith, Marcus Peters.
Let's look at the Saints.
Everybody loves the Saints right now.
Michael Thomas is great.
Drew Breeze is great.
There's no question.
Ryan Ram check the offensive lineman is great,
and Cameron Jordan is great.
Alvin Kamara is really good.
A little down year is good.
So they get about four.
San Francisco, to me, he's got four or five.
Nick Bose is great.
George Kittle is great.
Richard Sherman this year is, boy, has he been great.
And DeForest Buckner, the defensive lineman's great.
Then they've got Emmanuel Sanders is very, very good.
You know, they've got some very, very good player.
Jimmy Gropoll is a very good player.
my point is if you have four great players like the cowboys do you can't be six and seven which points back to coaching you just can't be sick because all those other teams are 11 and 2 and 12 and 3 and you start looking around the NFL if you have new england has won stephan gilmore he is great outside of that they got about not they have a lot of very good players eight or nine Brady right now is a really good player it's not great this year so I guess my point is is dallas's roster overrated they have four
four Hall of Fame level players and then about four really goods.
That's top, that's new to the top of the league.
That's where Baltimore is at.
But Baltimore is a freight train.
And the Saints are going to be favored in the NFC to get to the Super Bowl.
And San Francisco rolls somebody about every other week.
So with Dallas, I do think when you're really, Seattle, by the way, only has three great players.
Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, Jedavian Clowny, are the highest graded guys.
on PFF by a mile for Seattle.
Then they've got the running back,
seventh round kid, really good.
So here's what I know.
Dallas is one of those
seven or eight teams in the league that probably
has four great players
that will get Hall of Fame boats.
And they also have about three really, really, really,
good players. You can't be six and seven.
You can't be six and seven.
Because all those other teams are winning
divisions, nine wins,
ten wins, eleven wins,
11 wins, Dallas has six.
To me, it's a coaching issue.
Maybe a little overrated, but a coaching issue.
All right, coming up next, we got a good show today.
Eric Dickerson this hour, Rams and the Cowboys.
This is actually potentially the most interesting game of the week,
and not for a reason you think.
You have to remember, what does the NFC, not the AFC with the Patriots,
what does the NFC do every year?
this game will provide the answer.
We'll know by Sunday after this game.
Plus top of the hour, 45 minutes away, a blazing six.
I like him so much.
A blazing six.
Joy and I back in a second.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about
defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin
Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers
while he got the ball, like,
after you go through a training camp with that, I said,
you figure it out.
real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts.
Don't be the guy in the room with a long, sloppy-looking Untuck shirt.
Go to Untucka.com code heard.
Eric Dickerson, the Hall of Famers, joining us in 10 minutes.
We also have Peter King next hour.
Blazing five top of the hour.
We'll be blazing six today.
I feel there are weeks.
We had a winning week last week.
Very good week.
There are weeks where we were four and one last week where the numbers line up.
They really line up this week.
I love my pet.
I like my picks as much as I did in week three and four, which I thought we won those weeks.
The lines worked in our favor.
So the game this week that's interesting, when you look, when I look at the NFL standings every morning in our meeting,
I feel like I know who the playoff teams are in the AFC.
They feel like playoff teams.
Baltimore, New England.
Kansas City, despite the Texans last week.
And I feel Buffalo is a playoff team, and I feel like Tennessee is.
Right now, Pittsburgh is in the wild card.
They don't feel like a playoff team to me.
They feel like an incredibly well-coached, young fun defense that can't throw the ball
for 190 yards.
I mean, the last month, they can't throw the ball.
They're getting special teams touchdowns, playing some weaker quarterbacks.
I feel like I've seen the six best teams in the AFC.
Ravens, Chiefs, Texans, most of the time, Kansas City, Buffalo, and Tennessee right now.
In the NFC, I also feel like I can kind of tell.
San Francisco, Green Bay, New Orleans, Seattle, Minnesota feel like playoff teams.
Dallas doesn't feel like one, but is going to get in there because Philadelphia has got no healthy players.
But I got to tell you, keep your eye on the Rams who go to Dallas this weekend.
The NFC does this to us every year.
last year Seattle's four and five.
We had all sold our stock on Seattle.
They won six of seven.
Seattle's got a very good coach and a productive quarterback.
And they play defense.
And then there was Dallas last year.
They went three and five.
And we sold all our stock on Dallas.
And they went seven of eight.
And then we've had teams like, you know, Atlanta and Philadelphia,
a little bit of Super Bowl hangover, start the next year sluggish.
Last year, Philly, four, and six.
Then they won five of six and made.
the playoffs. Atlanta, a couple years ago, four and four. Nobody cared about them in their division.
We were watching Cam. We were watching Drew Breeze. In Atlanta, one of six of eight.
Falcons won six of eight and made the playoffs. So this year, the Rams are interesting.
Very good to start the season. Then they went into the abyss. And they were six and five.
And they were crushed by Baltimore. And we're like, eh, no way. Now they've won two straight.
and they've got six components that playoff teams have.
You may not think they're special, but here are the six components they have.
They have a great coach.
We wouldn't dispute that.
They have a very good defense since Jalen Ramsey arrived that outside of Baltimore has stopped everybody.
They have excellent special teams.
They have an incredibly workable schedule.
They have in 2019, really good weapons.
They have a really good receiving corps and a really good running back in terms girly of catching.
They have excellent tight ends.
and the other thing, they have a hot quarterback.
Two of the last three weeks, red hot.
Last two weeks on fire.
So to me, I feel like I know who's a playoff team in the AFC,
and I know who's a playoff team in the NFC.
Rams are interesting.
They've got a very workable schedule.
They're favored over Dallas,
and they're going to be favored over Arizona,
and they've won two straight,
and I got the coach, the defense, the special teams, the weapons,
check, check, check, check.
What don't I have?
You guys don't buy into golf.
do, maybe that's the answer. Maybe this weekend he's unraveled and golf's no good. But I think
the Rams are going to win that game. It's one of my blazing five picks. I'll tell you right now.
And that's the interesting one because I kind of feel like at this point, we'll go week 14,
week 15. I kind of know all the answers to the test now, except one. It's the Rams. Don't forget,
Seattle, Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia. We sold all our stock going into December and they
became the hottest team in the NFC, each individually. Joy, Joy,
news.
No.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So Lamar Jackson made history last night when he broke Michael Vick's single-season quarterback
rushing record.
Vic was watching it all happen live and here was his reaction.
There you go.
Here you go.
He got the record.
Congratulations, Lamar.
We knew him was coming, man.
Like I said, you missed the guy for the job, man.
You did it and you did it well.
question is set the bar high, man.
It's going to be amazing.
Right for you.
Appreciate everything.
I think of the game.
After the game, several
Jets players lined up to
swap jerseys with Lamar, and he
brought some extra jerseys.
Oh, he did.
To bring, to give to them.
So this is all over Twitter.
But look, like, people are kind of criticizing
Jets players for
swapping jerseys after getting beat that
badly. I mean, guys do this
after every single game. And Lamar is having an
MVP season.
And all these guys are friends.
They're exchanging jerseys.
But it was very thoughtful of him to bring extra jerseys because, you know, a few
extra people might have wanted them.
And we got a reaction from Tom Brady on this.
He tweeted, me versus Lamar 40-yard dash on natural grass, but he has to wear roller
braids who's buying the pay-per-view.
It's actually Tom's best tweet because we all know that Tom.
Tom actually did a little running in the last game.
He did.
It was kind of remarkable.
Yeah, I hadn't seen that.
years. It's not quite as poetic as Lamar. And then someone also, or
Dravanta Davis tweeted to Lamar, you the goat, my boy, and tagged him. And
Lamar responded, not yet. That's great. Which is basically how he
rules. Yeah, that is. It's his mantra and the Ravens mantra all season. It's a
really great moment last night. And again, I just, I love that Michael Vick is being able to
experience this with him and that they have a relationship. Like,
that's a record that we never even imagined would be possible to break.
In the media, we're very cynical.
And sometimes that critical thinking is valuable.
But sports at their best are fun.
Right.
Lamar's fun.
This is a fun story.
He's a crazy kid going 100 miles an hour.
He's 22 years old.
Doesn't play like 22.
He doesn't play like anybody else.
And I'm disappointed.
The media is so caught up and that he dropped in the first round.
Folks, it's not the story.
The story is...
Well, it's kind of become the story because...
And I totally agree with everything that you're saying.
Like, the Ravens, once they got Lamarer...
saw this coming. No one else did.
No one else. But there's plenty of examples of that.
Again, Tom Brady, the greatest of all time, was a sixth round draft pick.
Drew Brees.
You can say whatever you want about the Patriots, but nobody thought Tom Brady was going to be Tom Brady.
New England didn't.
Right, exactly. Or they would never have taken him.
Of course, you're the first round pick in every draft of all time.
But because that is the Ravens mantra this year that we're humble and we haven't accomplished
anything yet and don't phrase us.
and, you know, even Lamar not knowing about the MVP,
that kind of also feeds into the narrative of underdogs,
which I don't classify Lamar Jackson as an underdog,
but he was doubted, so it's a fair chip to have on his shoulder.
Like, it's not unwarranted that he has that.
But Dan Marino and Aaron Rogers also plummet.
They were thought to be first number one picks, and they plummeted.
I mean, it's like, it's okay.
It's become, it's taking a little, I will, I'm with you,
it's taking a little fun out of it.
It's like that now that if you didn't predict,
dick that Lamar was going to be the MVP that you are like jumping on the bandwagon like
yes that's the point we're all on the bandwagon like we're all in on Lamar jackson can we all just
enjoy what he's doing and this historic run and the fun and the innovation that it is without being
criticized for not knowing that he was going to be MVP last year Baltimore did not take their
first first round pick on it in fact Baltimore got the wrong tight end in the first round their second
picket tight end is way better than their first picket tight end meaning this is not an exact science
We can't be bothered with facts, Colin.
So Baker Mayfield has been pretty inconsistent in his sophomore season.
He still's a long way to go if he wants to be an elite quarterback,
but Freddie Kitchens is pleased with his progress so far.
I think he continues to identify pressures,
and I think his eyes are getting better.
And again, he's not a finished product.
Playing quarterback is like taking a thousand pictures all at once,
and you've just got to build your repertoire of the pictures that you see
when a ball is snapped, what are the safety's doing, what's the linebacker doing?
You know, what are they more likely to do in this instance?
So he continues to build his book of pictures per se in his mind.
He has definitely regressed this season.
Yes.
But he is, to be fair, he is in his second season.
And he does not have, and this is fair, he does not have what's considered to be an elite
coaching staff.
That's fair.
do think there's not a, it's not a coincidence that Lamar and Josh Allen, who I think have the two
best staffs of the young quarterbacks, are flourishing. We saw Jared Goff before McVeigh.
It's like a different human being on the football field. It matters. It 100% matters. My concern
with Baker is, well, I do think that if he had elite coaching, he would be progressing at a better
rate. Well, the issue is now the first couple years of a quarterback's development are
incredibly important, not even just
any young player, but it's
specifically the quarterback, and when you're
changing things every single year, which
we likely are thinking
that is going to happen again next year, you have to start
over with the process. Finally, through
the first half of the season, the Patriots were undefeated
and led the league in scoring, and starting
with the week nine loss of the Ravens, there's been a significant
drop off offensively as the team has gone
two and three, but running back
James White thinks his team is about to turn things around.
I think everybody
sees light into the tunnel.
Like I said, we still have our opportunity to play our best football, which we haven't done yet.
And you just want to go out there and do that, honestly.
I said, tired of coming in and saying we can be better, do better.
I mean, obviously, even if you have a good performance, you can still find things to improve on.
Everybody's just wanting to go out there and fly around from the first play to the last play.
And coming at a locker room and say, we actually did our jobs for the best we could on that day.
Well, good news for the Patriots.
They are at the Bengals this weekend.
That's always good news.
News.
Right.
So a nice little bounce back game for them, get the confidence going.
Then they have the bills at home and the dolphins at home.
Now, the bills obviously are a great team, but they did handle business before.
So New England clenches the division with a win or a tie this weekend.
That is kind of a good schedule.
You've got two light opponents and then the bills to tighten things up going into the postseason.
So they kind of lucked out there with the concerns that they have offensively at least.
Yeah.
Joy with the news.
Good stuff.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lie News.
Oh, where is the Hall of Famer?
I bet you Eric Dickerson would have loved to have played with Lamar Jackson
because you're in the backfield with Lamar.
And the edge, Russia has to take Lamar and Eric Dick.
Can you imagine your numbers?
I'd have loved to have had that.
I'm serious.
I mean, it would have been like all games can relate to this,
like watching Madden football on rookie mode
because it would be like, all right,
we're going to give your shot.
I'm going to turn my back and this time.
Let you get him get a shot now this time.
I mean, because he is so fast.
And I mean, I was fast too.
So, I mean, I'd love to have a quarterback like that.
Yeah, I was saying, I think, you know,
we're making too much of the fact that he dropped in the first round.
Quarterback's hard to figure out.
Like, I can watch you in college and go, that'll work in the NFL.
It's not hard.
I can watch Zeke.
I can watch that kid at Wisconsin, Jonathan Taylor.
I'm like, okay, that's going to work in.
the NFL.
Quarterback, I think Joe Burrell's overrated.
So I think quarterback is a hard position of, hell,
Russell Wilson got passed on by the Seahawks twice.
Well, you know, a lot of it is not about the player.
It's about sometimes the teams you go to also.
You know, you just said at Baker Mayfield and Cleveland.
I mean, if he was in New England, it would be different.
If he used it with, the coaching plays a big, that plays a big role.
I mean, the team you play on, the tools you have around you are, are,
are pivotal because this is the national football league.
This is the best of the best.
So that is one of the big differences, you know,
when you look at a guy that goes to the team.
Even the running back, you can look at running back sometimes.
Oh, that's a shoe in.
That's a shoe in.
Look at Levian Bell with a Jets O line.
Exactly.
But I said that.
You did.
I said that.
Lavian Bell.
People can criticize Sam Narnold.
Lavian Bell, his numbers have,
he averages a yard and a half less a carry,
Steeler O line to Jets O line.
Exactly.
The O line, that O line in the Jets.
Yes, it's terrible, man.
It's terrible.
Terrible.
Yeah, so, I mean, it was just like when I went from L.A. to Indianapolis,
I still had great seasons at times, but it was harder because it was not the same running scheme.
It wasn't the same offensive lineman.
You know, they didn't put the same push into running the football.
I mean, that's what it was about.
It's about we ran the football in L.A.
And indeed, we ran it, but not like with the authority that we ran it, you know, here in Los Angeles.
So I was saying is the NFC to me has been better than the A.S.
for years. The AFC has essentially been dominated by Peyton Manning and Tom Brady the last,
feels like the last 15 years. I mean, Flacco had one, a big been a couple, but basically those
two have dominated. The NFC, we have seen Atlanta before and four, and four, get hot, Dallas
3 and 5, Seattle last year, Philadelphia. The Rams are the last team in the NFL that I don't
know if they're a playoff feeling team yet. But the minute they got Jalen Rams,
they're a different defense.
They've got the coach, special teams.
Gough now, rolling.
They have very good weapons.
To me, if the Rams go into Dallas
and it's a comfortable win,
is this
the Falcons that got hot,
the Seahawks got hot, the Philadelphia
Eagles that got hot in December?
Well, any team get hot at the right time.
That's what it comes down to. I mean, the Rams right
now are playing good football.
The first part of the year, when they were 3 and 0,
they were not playing good football.
It was just like when I went back
and I looked at when Jeff,
Jeff Fisher was here.
And we were three and one at one point.
And I said, look, this is not a real three and one team.
I see the collapse coming.
And people are like, oh, no, we're saying.
I'm telling you, we wound up four and 12.
Right now the Rams are playing very good football.
After that beating, after that beating
they got by Baltimore, it kind of turned them around.
Especially defensively, you know,
they were playing good, but they're playing a lot better now.
offensively, we're hitting pretty much on our cylinders.
And I think a lot of it has to do with, like you said, right,
Jared Goff getting outside the pocket.
You know, last week outside the pocket, he was seven of seven for a hundred and I think,
34 yards.
You know, he's not a guy that can sit back there.
If you let him sit back there and don't get to him.
Oh, he's brilliant.
He's great.
But if you put some pressure on him or hit him or make him start doing this, you know,
look out.
Yeah, it is, you know, it's funny about,
you look at the NFL.
Baltimore's embarrassed a lot of people.
So I kind of take that Rams lost to Baltimore and say,
well, they did this to New England.
They've blown up a lot of people.
Go back to your, like for instance, I'll tell you a team I love this week,
is Houston.
They were humiliated last week.
By the way, Baltimore got run over by Cleveland at home.
All right.
Everybody in this league outside of maybe the Niners this year has gotten run over on a Sunday.
So I tend to have a rule in the NFL.
Seattle got run over last week.
So I have a rule in the NFL when I do Blazing 5.
Whoever got humiliated the week before, as long as you're capable at quarterback, I take you.
Do you remember having a game on a good team?
You were humiliated.
Oh, my gosh, yes.
It's my rookie season.
We won, I think we won a division.
Yes, you were very good.
One of division or whatever.
But anyway, we go to Washington.
We play Dallas, beat Dallas in Dallas in the first round of playoffs.
Nice.
Then we go to Washington.
I'm talking about, they say,
an ass whooping.
A ass whipping.
51 to 7.
Oh, my Lord.
It was 30 to nothing, I think, at halftime.
Now, was it scheme?
Did you party?
How do you explain that?
It was just cold.
They were just better.
We were just bad.
I mean, we were bad that day.
Everything went wrong.
Did you know it in the locker room?
Did you know it in the locker room?
Let me tell you how you knew in the locker room.
And while they're in that old RFK Stadium,
They turned the heat off on us.
We had no heating out of locker room.
So the locker room was cold.
We're coming at half.
We're already getting killed.
They had flooded the showers.
And the heat was off.
I'm like, oh, we knew the game was over.
You started to nothing.
You know the game's over.
You just started looking at the clock like, okay, I don't want to get hurt.
You know, I want to get out of here and stay healthy.
When you look, I have this weird theory.
So everybody's paying attention to the Ravens today.
But I'm a big believer.
The NFL is a very...
Strange business.
A billionaire owner, 40-year-old executives, 50-year-old coaches, and 25-year-old players.
And something about the Jets bothers me.
I say there's an all-sidline team for coaches in the NFL.
Harbaugh, Peyton, Sean McVeigh, Pete Carroll, Mike Tomlin are on the sideline.
They have juice.
They talk.
They're positive.
They're teachers.
They're the all-sideline team.
when I watch Adam Gase on the sidelines, he makes me anxious.
He's buried in, he's this, he's buried in a play sheet.
He's cynical.
And my wife taught me this years ago.
She said, when you come into the house with our kids, the first minute will dictate the mood of the house.
Come in with a smile.
How's everybody doing?
If you're pissed, talk to me about it five minutes later.
When I watched Adam Gase in the sideline last night, the opposite.
the optics, Sam Donald comes over,
you can tell Donald's done with them.
Am I nuts on this?
I think this stuff matters.
Well, you're right, Kyle.
It matters a lot because, you know,
you feed off your coaches and your coaching staff.
I mean, you really do.
When a coach almost like to a point, you know,
it's like, look, you're a head coach.
You know, you can't call everything.
You can't do it all.
But you have to be engaged with your coach.
You know, when you see a coach,
like a, I'm going to say like a Pete Carroll or Sean McVay, who's over there talking to his
players like, hey man, look, you know, and getting excited with him, that keeps the players like,
hey man, you know, we're going to do this. We're going to do it for our coach.
Even a disaster, by the way, the Seahawks have had multiple disasters near the end of two
games this year. And Pete's like, and Pete and Russell Wilson are like, let's go, guys, let's go. Let's go.
Let's go. It's okay. Adam Gase, an interception in a game you're already losing, is barking at
his quarterback. And I watch him and I'm like, he is the word. He and Matt Patricia in Detroit, by the
it's not an intelligence thing.
They're both bright guys.
They're bad optically.
Well, I think some people are not good with people.
You know, I just kidding.
They're not people personally.
You know, they're good at what they do.
They're smart.
You know, but I'm not good at sometimes relating to other guys, you know, the guys.
Because some people are like, okay, I'm going to have you tell the guys this, you know,
because I'm just not, it won't come out the same.
Who is the best you had at communicating?
The room, owning the room.
two coaches, two head coaches.
And John Robinson.
Yeah, that's an easy one.
John's great.
John's, I've seen him speak.
John Robertson.
John Robertson and Ron Meyer.
Ron Meyer was a type of coach that he'll come in.
We'd have him practice on Wednesday.
He gets us all fired up.
They were like, let's go play the game right now.
We can't wait until Saturday.
We want to play right now.
And those are kind of coaches you really love playing for.
Do you ever have one that wasn't great in the room?
Yeah.
I don't want to see his name.
Okay.
Yeah.
He wasn't.
No, it wasn't great at all.
I mean, it was like, oh,
my God, how did he get this clown?
He's a head coach.
You don't have to mention his name, Eric.
No, I just have a clown.
Deductive reasoning.
We'll go look at where you played and we'll figure it out.
I'll say, in Atlanta, let's put it like that.
This I say, Jerry Glambville.
Did I say, did I say that?
He won great, right?
Oh, my gosh, please.
Too goofy.
Oh, my gosh.
I mean, leaving tickets for Elvis Presley.
Why just leave tickets for God?
That's the case.
That's not, you're not wrong.
Thank you.
Good seeing you, buddy.
Good seeing you, too.
We have Blazing Five is around the corner.
And what is remarkable, it's Lamar Jackson, but it's beyond that.
What we were seeing in football just three years ago, just two years ago and now,
and now you're seeing it, you're going to see it in the college football playoff.
I'll discuss what that is coming up next.
66% of men lose their hair by the age of 35.

Michigan endurance X. T. Silicon Wiper Blades. Real world proven. Extreme weather performers

smack dab of winter. Great to have you in on a Friday. Now, I do a blazing five during the
football season. I've never done this before. I'm adding a sixth game. I thought about a seventh.
That's how much I like my picks this week. So, and my thing, we had a great week last. We started the
season on fire.
slumped. Now we're hot. In fact, last weekend we got the college picks. We're just, we're kind
of rolling now. We're feeling good about ourselves, and I love the numbers this week. So,
this is not really a college football topic, but when you watch the college football
playoff, you're going to have Justin Fields, Ohio State, Joe Burrow, you're going to have
Jalen Hertz, and then you're going to have Trevor Lawrence at Clemson. Trevor Lawrence is
considered the pocket guy. He's 6-7-220, has seven rushing touchdowns, and over 400 yards running.
He's the pocket guy.
Okay.
Even the pocket college quarterback in 2019 is a great athlete.
This thing has changed at lightning speed.
Within one year, all the top quarterback prospects are hyper-athletic.
Within one year, all the MVP candidates at quarterback in the NFL are hyper-athletic.
Folks, it was only three years ago that when Jared,
golf went number one, it was fitting.
He had all the characteristics we
want. He was tall.
He had a nice arm.
He didn't get hurt running around. He was a pocket
guy. Now, overnight.
Height?
No longer matters.
Overnight. It mattered my entire life. No longer matters.
What college system you played in.
Nobody cares. We'll just figure out what you did in college.
Use most of it in the NFL.
Suddenly overnight, he
He's a pocket guy.
Oh, no, I don't.
Can he move a little?
Can I get a little Lamar?
You get a little?
Little Patrick Mahomes?
I mean, it feels a little bit to me like the iPhone.
Like one day nobody had it.
And then a year later, everybody had it.
Like, you know, like technology sometimes, it moves at warp speed.
You know, it used to be, it took, you know, J.C. Penny.
You know, everything was like baseball.
It took forever to change.
And then tech.
comes around and tech companies are hot and then are out of business.
That's what this feels like.
It's like a tech move.
It used to be you cannot win a Super Bowl without a pocket guy.
And then we've had two or three things converge at the same time.
And the two or three things that are converging is college football now is just giving
you athletes at quarterback.
As Bill Parcell said, we can only do with what the college game gives us.
Number two is offensive lines.
line play for a variety of reasons has regressed badly in the NFL.
Your quarterback better be able to move or like Breeze and Brady.
Check down because they're encyclopedias after 20 years of playing and just get
rid of the ball can manipulate the pocket pre-snap.
There's like four guys in the planet.
Maybe two, to be honest, Breeze and Brady that can do that.
Russell, I think,'s developed into that.
Aaron Rogers pretty close.
But this thing has, it's just changed.
It's light speed how it's changed.
I also think stylistically, the reason football's ratings are up on every network college and pro is the NBA game stylistically turns some people off.
All they do is shoot threes.
Baseball stylistically is turning people off.
It's all strikeouts and home runs.
Football stylistically, it's never been more fun.
I get my best athlete that touches the ball now 65 times a game.
It's fun. Football now, it's hard to take your eyes off on this stuff.
that everybody's, I mean, Joe Burroughs considered a pocket guy.
He was a high school, all state basketball player, and moves all over the pocket.
Unbelievable pocket presence and awareness.
So I think it's fun.
I think, you know, just a couple years ago, think about this.
Three years ago, Aaron Rogers defined athlete at quarterback.
Like now it's, I don't even, his name doesn't even pop up.
The other thing, I want to give credit to Russell Wilson.
because Russell Wilson opened the door on this.
Lamar Jackson has just sprinted through it.
Russell Wilson is why height doesn't matter.
Back-to-back Super Bowl's.
Russell Wilson, 30 years old, never being hurt.
Oh, this running stuff is sustainable.
Is why guys who move around like Kyler and Lamar are now going to go in the first round?
Russell Wilson opened the door for this.
Now, Lamar has sprinted right through that door faster than anybody ever.
But there is a Steph Curry quality to Russell Wilson.
My entire life until six years ago, maybe seven, three-pointers were bad shots.
Now they're the preferred shot.
Steph Curry changed everything.
He didn't have to be vertical.
You didn't have to be a great athlete.
Could you hit threes?
Coaches now demand.
I mean, that's what I've said.
Westbrook does everything but hit threes.
Curry dribbles three's best ever has some other shortcomings.
So there are players that I think that deserve credit for current success.
And I think Steph Curry has had more impact on basketball than LeBron James.
I think he's had more impact on the way high school college and pro basketball has changed.
I think Steph Curry changed it forever.
And I really honestly believe Russell Wilson opened the door.
Height is a non-factor thanks to Russell Wilson.
And running around is now sustainable.
Just learn to slide if you play like Russell Wilson.
It's all pretty cool.

And we're still chasing it.

Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

Absolutely.

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes,
Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.

Time out.
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
A rep, my mama want you to wave at her.

Hey, Ms. Parker.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nasree.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers,
why he got the ball like,
after you go through a training camp
with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.

Joy Taylor is joining me as the game was fairly predictable.
We thought it would be Baltimore.
We thought New York would struggle.
That on-side kick by the Jets is, I'm so glad Troy Aikman said, what are you doing?
The Jets sideline just looks in disarray.
The Baltimore sideline looks in complete control, so it was a fun game.
Lamar's a blast to watch. Is he not?
He is. I think the Jets will probably give Adam Gates another year.
Yeah, no, I think you have to. I think he's smart, but I said this earlier. The optics with him
are awful. He's just never been a big presence guy. He has no presence. And I think in the
end, the great coaches virtually, they all do. They all do. And, you know, he is in New York.
And you get beat up more, you know. Matt Patricia and Adam Gase are smart. But are they,
But it's not just about being smart.
Yeah, I mean, a lot of guys are smart.
They're play callers, but they don't have kind of the gravitas to walk into a room and own the room with 55 alpha males.
I mean, just like being a quarterback is not just about being an athlete.
We say it every day.
Well, you say 30% is being a leader in how you handle the microphone and all that.
Like, there's more components to it than just knowing football.
All right, we come off a scorching blazing five last week.
We are adding a pick.
I've never done this.
I feel this good about the picks.
Now, if I go 0 and 6, it just tanks me for the season.
but you got to roll the dice and be a graven.
I'm the Ravens of football pickers.
I'm going all in.
I am seeing what everybody else is not.
And here we go.
That's a hot one.
Let's blaze it up.
Fire it up.
It's Collins, blazing five.
Seahawks at Panthers.
Seattle minus six.
They're an excellent road team.
I'm taking the Seahawks to win by more than six.
I'll swallow the points.
First, Ron Rivera's firing did not, I'm told, go over well in the locker room.
David Tapper, I think, made a mistake on that.
He'll pay the price.
Also, don't worry about the road.
Seattle, frankly, Russell Wilson's been a better road quarterback than a home quarterback.
He's completing 70% of his throws, 103 passer rating.
And here's the thing that would scare you if you're a Carolina fan.
Seattle defense has 29 takeaways.
That's third best in the NFL.
Carolina gives it away almost more than everybody else.
Turnovers will be a factor.
Seattle wins by more than six.
They win 2820.
2820, Seattle.
I'm going to take the Bears plus four and a half.
Do you know Green Bay, all that great record, has been outgained this year?
Green Bay gets outgained by like 30 yards a game, and they win.
They get off to good starts, but I'm going to take the Bears plus four and a half here.
Again, Mitch Tribisky's got limitations.
But since week 10, Matt Nagy and the staff have figured out what works and what doesn't.
He's up to 66% completion percentage, passer rating in the mid-90s,
He's run for a couple of touchdown, so they're figuring out, listen, here's what he can do.
Let's not fight it.
Let's let him do what he can do.
And the Bears' defense, the last couple of years against Green Bay, has only given up 17 points a game against Darren Rogers.
So I like the coach for the Bears.
I like the defense for the Bears.
And right now, Trubisky, I'm going to take Green Bay at Lambo to win on a late field goal.
But 4.5.
2320 Green Bay.
But four and a half, bet the number here.
It's too much.
to give Chicago.
Texans at Titans.
I'm going to take the Texans plus three and a half.
I have a rule.
Whenever you're one team every week is humiliated.
Just blown, the doors are blown off.
As long as that team has a good quarterback, DeShon Watson, take them the following week
because most fans bail on them.
The Texans are fine.
Are they inconsistent?
Oh, God, yes.
Are they bad?
Oh, no.
Following a loss this year, they're 4-0, 28 a game.
Rush for 130 yards.
The Texans' offense is still ninth ranked in the NFL.
They are all over the map, but this is a must win for them.
I think they play very well.
I like Tennessee.
We're going nuts on Ryan Tanna Hill.
I'm taking the Texans to win 2726.
Jaguars and Raiders.
I'll take Oakland minus six and a half.
First of all, I think the Jags have quit on their coach, Doug Marone.
The minute they traded Jalen Ramsey, did not play well in the locker room.
then watch not only is Jacksonville losing, they're losing against the spread.
They're not tackling well.
And for, I mean, they on the road, they're atrocious.
And remember, this is the last game for the Raiders in Oakland, the last game.
So this is a team that's going to celebrate.
This is going to be a very big game, a celebration of Oakland and the Raiders.
Oakland's going to come out with their hair on fire and play a great game.
33, 23, 23.
it won't feel that close.
Rades.
Rams at Cowboys.
I like the Rams minus 1, basically for one reason.
When veteran defensive coordinators, Wade Phillips Rams,
face young newbie Kellyn Moore this year,
31-year-old, it's been a mismatch.
The best teams aren't always beating Dallas.
The most veteran defensive coordinators have owned Kellynne Moore.
The Rams are a very good road team, 5-1.
the Cowboys lost 4 of 5, and the offense for the Rams has turned it around.
The other thing is since Jalen Ramsey has arrived in week 7, the Rams lead the NFL in
sacks, third in total yards.
Rams go on the road, I'll swallow the point.
They win 28 to 23.
And here's my sixth pick of the week.
I'm going to...
Bills at Steelers.
I'm going to take Buffalo, plus...
Plus two at Pittsburgh.
These teams are very similar.
Excellent coaching staffs.
Most of the talent on defense.
But I get a significantly better quarterback in Buffalo and I get points.
This game means a lot for both.
There's a lot of similarities.
Listen, this duck guy for Pittsburgh, it's an adorable story.
He won the Alabama State duck calling contest.
But Pittsburgh's offense since week 10 is atrocious.
And Buffalo's defense isn't good.
Folks, they've held their opponents to 21 points or less than 11 to 13 games.
And that includes like the Patriots and the Ravens.
This defense is exceptional for Buffalo.
And this offense for Pittsburgh's a mess.
So I get what I think is a slightly better team.
And I get points.
And I get the better quarterback.
The bills win.
And I think it's 24 to 13.
So my blazing six picks.
I like favorite Seattle, underdogs, bears, Texan, favored raiders, favored Rams, and underdog Buffalo.
All of our odds, of course, are provided by Fox Bet.
So there is a report this morning that Bill Belichick, coach of the New England Patriots,
is, quote, furious over the Patriots videotaping incident.
according to Tom Curran, who we had on the show this week, he is as inside as anybody.
He said, Belichick tolerates the intrusion of Kraft Sports Entertainment.
That's Robert Kraft's Entertainment Company.
He understands the importance of an NFL team promoting its brand, and he tolerates it.
But he did not know or have anything to do, many don't believe this,
with the scout being upstairs and filming a parent.
for seven or eight minutes, the Bengals sideline.
And I've always believed this, that once you have the money and once you have the trophies,
legacy does matter.
You start thinking about how am I going to be judged?
That's why Bill Belichick's doing this thing on the NFL network, NFL 100.
His legacy now matters.
He's got, you know, 50 million net worth.
He's got, you know, all the trophies you could have.
Now legacy starts to matter.
And if the NFL came out and said, we're going to take away a first round pick,
you go from SpyGate to SpyGate.
to SpyGate and SpyGate 2-0.
And I've said this before.
The gap between one mistake, an accident, and two, a trend changes everything.
If you get a DUI, it's really bad judgment.
You get a second and people think, oh, that person could be an alcoholic.
That's a big gap between bad judgment and a disease.
And so I think in this instance, this goes from a footnote, SpyGate, to a chapter in the book.
And so I think it's very interesting.
and I think the NFL is aware of that.
Like we got to make sure my gut feeling is Belichick didn't know,
but I understand I'm in the minority
and that a majority of people have made up their mind on Belichick.
I totally get that.
And I think that's fair at this point.
There's been too many situations.
Deflate gate, spy gate, whatever.
But I do think, you know, we're going to go from this just being like the greatest coach ever.
And, oh, yeah, that was a spy gate thing to, listen, man,
they got caught taping multiple times.
and that can change people's opinion.
Like Andy Pettit got caught with HGH, and people still love Andy Pettit.
He was contrite.
He was apologetic, and he admitted it.
Roger Clemens got caught with it, was not contrite, lied to Congress, was dogmatic about it,
and he's persona non-grata in a lot of baseball rooms.
There's a lot of people that are just out on Roger Clemens.
Never admitted it also did it once.
So, you know, Belichick is now, this is a,
outrageous. It's very interesting to see where the league lands on this because does it now taint
legacy and coaches can tell you it doesn't matter. But I think once you have the money in the rings,
most people, men, women, you start thinking about how will I be viewed historically.
All right, coming up, Peter King, we don't get this, I don't think we've maybe once a year.
if that Peter King is in Los Angeles and he will be joining it in studio next, a real treat for us.
That'll be fun, a good 15, 20 minutes, breakdown some NFL.

It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano,
and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective
on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything
he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by,
like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.

I saw a picture of Charlotte Flair yesterday in the gym on her Twitter account.

She is Jack.
I couldn't even.
Can we please get Charlotte Flair on the show?
Oh, my lord.
Charlotte, you're always welcome.
And so is Peter King, NBC Sports, three-time national sports writer of the year.
We don't get you in town often.
So I would imagine, see, the Rams are out of town, but you're watching the Vikings at the Chargers.
Is that your assignment?
No.
I'm actually in town to do the NFL's all-time 100-1.
players, you know, elected to this team.
Yeah.
And they're on, they do six shows on NFL Network over a six-week period.
And every week they have a couple of members of the selection committee in.
So I'm going to do this show tonight with Art Shell on NFL Network.
So they had me come in.
First great player I ever saw as a kid was Walter Payton.
He had one good offensive lineman, Noah Jackson, and yet was unstoppable.
I always remember him peeling players off him.
He hated being on the ground.
It was almost like he was claustrophobic.
He did not like people on him.
Who was the first player covering the NFL?
You're like almost like Lamar.
Oh, he's better than everybody.
Well, I covered the New York Giants my second year in their prime
in the Parcells Lawrence Taylor, Phil Sims, Prime.
And that was my second year covering the NFL.
So it was, you know, you're whatever, 27 years old.
And every day you've got to monitor Lawrence Taylor's whereabouts and what he's doing and all this.
So I did that.
And that, that I just thought was a great training for anything else I could do in life because Lawrence Taylor was crazy.
Yeah, Belichick holds him in a reverence.
That is, I mean, he just holds him.
You know what was great about Bill Belichick in that time because he was the defensive coordinator of the Patriots?
Everybody looks at him now.
He's sullen.
He's dower, which he is.
is. But in those days, he was just an assistant coach. Nobody had any idea. He'd be Bill Belichick.
And he'd be walking through the locker room and you'd stop him and talk to him for 10 minutes about
the game plan that week or about life or whatever. It was very, not not not effervescently friendly,
but talk to you about anything for any length of time. He was a cool guy.
Tom Curran says, an excellent writer in Boston says that a Belvoir
Bellichick is furious at the craft entertainment company.
What's your takeaway?
My thing is, I don't think it's sinister, but they've lost the benefit of the doubt to most...
They have, but as one high-ranking person in the league said, you know, this is a little bit
different than the turn of the century in 2002 and three and four, and whenever the Patriots
might have been spying on the other sideline, it's different now because...
the defensive guys, the defensive coordinator can talk to the guy in his helmet.
There's not all these signals being done anymore.
No, that's a very good point.
Is that basically you just talk, all you have to do is cover your mouth is all you're doing.
And Colin, I asked two people this week who are at the NFL meetings in Dallas.
I said, what was the talk about?
And both of them basically, even though one by text, they kind of shrugged their
shoulders in effect and just said we don't think it's that big a deal if it was if it wasn't the
patriots nobody would care i don't my gut feeling is i don't think it's going to turn out to be a big
deal but hey let's see where this takes us okay so lamar jackson you're not a big draft guy if i
recall i love the draft i watch call i'm a saturday guy and a sunday guy right the draft's
one of my favorite things of the year like everybody else i have take big swings and miss a lot
and get some right um do you remember what you thought about lamar what you were here
hearing about Lamar going into the draft or what you thought?
I thought the Bengals were going to take him at 21.
He had spent some time in Cincinnati.
That's right.
And then they end up taking Billy Price.
And I said, what a bunch of knuckleheads they are.
What are you taking a guard when you desperately need a bit of juice for your organization going into this thing?
And look, nobody, I think what the Ravens did, Colin, was so incredibly smart.
because what they did is they do a great job of doing a little bit private investigating work,
private investigatory work around the time of the draft to see who likes who,
who in the bottom 10 of the first round was going to take a quarterback.
Now, remember, Colin, they trade down to number 25 and they take Hayden Hurst,
the tight end from South Carolina, before Lamar.
Who now is starting to emerge.
And then they had a deal with Howie Roseman of the Eagles to trade up to number 32,
but they continued to work the phones to make sure that nobody was going to trump them on Lamar Jackson.
They knew when they got into the 20s that they wanted Lamar Jackson and they were going to take them,
but they also really wanted a tight end.
They ended up taking two tight ends that year.
So they did that.
And then they were, look, Eric DeCosta, the current GM has told me they were very condes,
confident that in the last five or six picks of that round, nobody was going to take them and they were okay with trading with Philadelphia at number 32 and the rest is history.
I said that the quarterback change now reminds me of the iPhone. One day nobody had them. A year later, everybody had them.
Is that three years ago, Jared Goff was what you drafted. He is tall and he's a pocket guy and he throws a beautiful flag pattern.
now you'd be like if he came out,
he just doesn't get out of the pocket.
And size no longer matters.
Your college system no longer matters.
Well, that's a little bit like Joe Burrow now, isn't it?
They're all of them.
Well, people are excited about Tua because he runs around and he's very athletic.
But, hey, Tua's been hurt a lot.
Joe Burrow hasn't been hurt now.
He's not played as much as two either.
But, I mean, I still think, Colin,
I don't think there is a one-size-fits-all quarterback in the NFL.
I don't think it's Lamar Jackson and I don't think it's Sam Darnold.
Okay?
I think every offense can be successful based on what you want to do in the kind of quarterback
you have.
And look, who's to say how long Lamar Jackson will be able to play every week?
He took a heck of a hit last night when he broke the record.
I know.
And I'm not, hey, look, I think Lamar Jackson is as exciting, you know,
in December of 2019, as Patrick Mahomes was in December of 2018.
But again, I think that I think he's got to prove that he can stay on the field long term also.
But that was a great performance last night.
You know what I really love about Lamar Jackson a lot?
He is, he understands like a 10-year veteran.
What's the first thing he says to Aaron Andrews last night after the game?
Hey, you know, I forget her question, but it's something like, hey, you, you know,
rush for more yards now than any quarterback of all time in any season.
And he's got Mark Ingram with him.
And he basically says, hey, I want to get Mark Ingram his thousand yards now.
You know, he, the guy, I've been in that locker room, Colin, now twice this year.
And I've just watched it.
Those guys, the, he'll go up to Marshall Yonda.
And he'll say, hey, gold jacket, you know, like for Hall of Fame, you know.
And so the guys in that locker room love him because it's never about Lamar
Jackson. It's about us. It's about the 53.
That is, and I know people think I've been very hard on Baker Mayfield, but I said this before.
I support Dak, not because I love his arm. I like him. Right. I'm a big believer that 30%
of the contract is intangibles. I don't like bakers. I don't like, I said this. The police video,
he was innocent. So his instincts, as an innocent man, were to run from cops. That worries me.
Yeah. The grabbing the stuff.
Now, I've been very harsh on him.
I think he'll be better than this year when they get the coaching right.
But I do wonder, because Lamar makes me really think about this.
So you're going to see Lamar twice.
Lamar is so coachable.
When people said he's too skinny, he came out and said, I went and worked on it because I listen
to you guys, so I put on weight.
When people said, you don't throw a pretty ball, he goes, I didn't.
I went and worked on it.
Baker gets very defensive.
He gets very abrupt.
This week he called it with medical staff.
Do you believe, because my dad told me this years ago,
Most employment decisions will be made, Colin, when you're not in the room.
Okay.
That medical staff comment, the OBJ mess, do you think there's people in Cleveland now?
Even a handful that think we reached on Baker.
He's requests.
Well, the only guy who matters is John Dorsey right now because I think Dorsey is going to be the primary decision maker in whether or not Freddie Kitchens comes back.
and he'll also, if they do make a change, you know, who that will be.
So I think he's the one who really matters.
I have been told that his faith in Baker Mayfield is not wavered.
What about OBJ trading him?
Well, I mean, look, I don't know what's going to happen there,
but you also have to ask yourself,
who's giving a ransom for O'Dell Beckham Jr. right now?
When's the last time he was consistently played great?
And you can say, well, the Giants were a mess.
And he didn't have the quarterback, and it's been a mess this year in Cleveland.
But whatever.
I mean, he's been a divisive factor for a good chunk of his career.
So we'll see what happens.
But I think that John Dorsey would like to salvage the O'Dell Beckham Jr.
relationship.
Peter, this is interesting.
Yeah.
So John got fired.
These GM jobs, you get about two chances.
Yes, you do.
And then you don't get a third.
So he would have to acknowledge.
Okay, I whiffed on.
Freddie. I whiffed on the OBJ trade.
So Baker's probably safe because if you got to admit those two.
But I don't think he would admit in any way that he whiffed on Baker.
I think this is just a growing year.
And again, I'm not really defending Baker because I think he does some immature things.
Right.
But I still think, like, I would like to see, if they do make a coaching change,
I want to see a guy who's a rock solid.
I don't know whether you'd say Mike McCarthy.
That feels right.
I want to see a guy who has worked with and coached great quarterbacks.
Like I would really kind of like to see Mike McCarthy with Baker Mayfield.
So would I.
You know, I think it would be interesting.
But again, I do think Freddie Kitchens has a chance in the last three weeks to salvage it.
Hey, Colin, here's a question for you.
Next week, what if they have a great?
game plan and they beat the Baltimore Ravens next week. What if they do that? And what if they sweep
their last three and play well and are more disciplined than they have been? I mean, then you got to say,
okay, we had a rough patch with Freddie Kitchens, but now the arrow's pointing upward. He beat
Baltimore twice. So who knows? I don't know. That's why somebody said to me today, he said,
so does Lamar Jackson have your MVP vote? I'm one of the voters for MVP. And I said, well, if I had to vote
Today, of course he does.
But I said the season's 17 weeks long.
We are one game into week 15.
Can we play 17 games?
Then we'll decide.
Yeah.
Russell Wilson, by the way, is not that far off.
Well, and what happens in the last three weeks if Russell Wilson throws 11 touchdowns,
no interceptions, and they beat the 49ers by 14 in an NFC West championship game in week 17?
What happens then?
Then we got a decision to make.
You're a reporter.
I talk and have opinions, and I have sources, the phone, as we joke on the show.
We call it small J journalism.
You do more Big J.
You're in the locker rooms.
So living in Los Angeles, Peter King, is joining us if you're listening on radio.
The Todd Gurley situation has been very interesting.
It's walking on eggshells.
It's deflecting because they paid them a year early.
Didn't have to.
And in the NFL, it's hard for a running back to get a second contract, never early.
So they pay him early and we find out there's an arthritic knee issue.
And so he stops carrying it.
And then the last couple of weeks it's like he's emerged again.
For a lot of reasons, I think it's a very sensitive topic within the Rams, Todd Gurley.
But McVeigh's a sharp cat.
They've sort of turned it around.
They had a little offensive line crisis.
They've bondoed, bandaged that thing up.
When you look at the Rams, they've given up first round picks.
They're playing well now.
Do you think they, what do you think behind the scenes?
They truly feel of golf and truly feel of girly.
Do they regret the contracts?
Well, I do think that it would be natural to second guess the contracts.
But I also think the last two weeks have shown them and have proven to them that they made the right decision.
because when all is well, they're still, I mean, that game last week,
you remember the Thursday night game against the Vikings last year?
Oh, yeah.
I thought that was their best game of last season because golf threw downfield beautifully in that game.
And that in Sean McVeigh's offense, he wants a guy who is not just going to go here,
here and here, but who is going to throw at 55 yards occasionally too.
and I thought against Seattle that was as close to that game as they've played in a year and a half.
And remember this, Peter.
Atlanta was four and four got hot made the playoffs.
Dallas three and five.
The one difference now, the one difference now is that basically one of the first two seeds is gone in your division.
And the fifth seed probably is gone also in your division.
division. So you've got to beat the Minnesota Vikings. So you have to ask yourself, you look at both
their schedules, the Rams, they've got to go 3 and O, okay, to have a good chance to make it.
Minnesota is at the Chargers this weekend. They're not as good on grass. Yes.
The Vikings are, and then, and they play the Packers next week. So what I'm saying is,
you have to ask yourself if the Rams can catch and pass the Vikings.
in the last three weeks.
They can. Do I think they will?
No, I don't. Let's talk about the
Dallas Cowboys. Peter King is joining us.
Listen, they get a lot of free publicity.
They don't need more.
Because Jerry talks. Every time you turn
around, Jerry's talking. Well, and I
think this is something we've talked
about. And I think I've said that we've done
this with our president. We've normalized behavior.
What our president currently does
is not normal. Jerry talking
after games on a Monday morning radio appearance
and talking about Belichick. Colin, you speak about
not being in the locker room.
And I'll tell you something that happens in one locker room out of 32,
that after a game, 10, 15 minutes where you've got 45 players and everything like that,
it's the only locker room in the NFL where there will be 20 people around the owner of the team
and he will talk after every game.
That's not normal.
It's definitely not normal, but he's done it his whole, you know, his,
I don't want to say it.
I don't know if he's done it his whole career,
but he's done it for every game in my memory.
You know, he's in the locker room holding court with the writers.
And you might argue.
You might argue.
Well, you know, so if something ugly happened that day,
he's deflecting, you know, the responsibility
and all of a sudden the quarterback isn't the goat,
Jerry is there ponderously talking for 15 minutes.
and then you turn around, you're done with Jerry, and you look around, half the guys are dressed and gone.
So they don't then have to deal with the press.
And so I just think, look, my advice to Jerry would be only one thing.
Stop talking so much.
Because I do think he creates problems for himself.
And I don't think the top head coaches.
I think Nick Saban could still coach in the league again.
I don't think he wants that nonsense.
I like to know.
No, but I will say this.
There are people who will say that Jerry Jones, they never work for Jay.
Jerry Jones and everything, and I said, I think you're crazy.
And here's why.
If you talk to Bill Parcells, he has mostly fond memories of working for Jerry Jones.
Yeah.
And the other thing I will tell you, Colin, in the Ezekiel Elliott-Dak Prescott draft in 2016,
I covered that draft.
And I can tell you categorically that Jerry desperately wanted Paxton Lynch in the first round.
He wanted them to trade up into the first round to get Paxton Lynch.
And when he didn't get him, the next day he was bitter.
He said, every time I've made a great business deal,
it said most of the time when I made a great business deal, I've overpaid.
And we had to overpay if we wanted to get Paxton Lynch.
We didn't.
I think we made a mistake.
Now, this is Jerry Jones.
And what he could have said to his scouting guys, to his son, Stephen, you know,
the VP to Jason Garrett, I'm overruling you. I am making the trade. We are giving, you know,
the higher draft choice for Paxton Lynch. But you know what? He didn't do it because he knows that
he has empowered his, you know, football scouting people to make those decisions and they're going
to make those before. And he was angry and he said we should have done it. But he could have
overruled him. He didn't. And I think that's the one thing people don't realize about Jerry Jones.
He listens to those guys. And most of the time, he acts on what they tell him to do. So I don't think
that he would be a debacle to work for it all. Okay, stick up. You don't have anything else to do
the next 20 minutes. No. No. Seriously, you like coffee, right? Yeah. Let's get him some coffee.
No, no, it's fine. I'll take water. We got some nice water. We got some nice
water here? Okay, I'm going to do it. But wait a minute, I will only stay under one condition.
Okay. I want the mug.
You can have the mug. Could I take the mug? Yes, of course. Good. I like a little souvenir
mugs. I'm not, I'm not mug stingy. I'm not, I give up. We got more stuff to talk about.
Let's do it with Peter King. Joy with the News.
No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the Herd Line News.
All right, well, this is a treat. We have Peter here for Herd Line News. We can get his opinion on this.
The Cowboys have lost three straight and are hoping and turn things around Sunday against
Rams, obviously. In Monday's
team meeting, Jason Garrett put together a
highlight reel of the team's best
plays in the last two seasons, hoping it
would motivate his team to get
back on track. He also did this after losing
three straight earlier this year, and the team
responded with the big 37-10 win over the Eagles in
week seven. I don't really know about
this. I mean, I guess if it worked earlier in the season,
there's something to it. Well, when you're playing
poorly, I'm all for new stuff.
Some of this stuff can work. I mean, you have to do
something, I guess, to turn the, the
energy around. They won't be eliminated from the NFC title contention with the loss of the Rams.
That's right. But they obviously still need to win that. And they need to, well, they need the
win versus the Eagles and either the Rams or the Redskins to take the division. So basically it comes
down to the Eagles game. And DAC said, you know, momentum is something serious. This has been
a streaky team. And yes, you've got to get that first one to get the second one. Let's focus on this
week and not worry about the rest, which is a good mentality to have. Don't look ahead. Just take
care of business this week.
So it's the end of an era in Oakland.
On Sunday, the Raiders will host the Jags for their last home game.
That is the Oakland.
It is sad.
That is the saddest news.
You know why?
The Oakland Raiders should not be leaving Oakland.
No, they shouldn't be.
They should not be leaving Oakland.
I just think I had the great pleasure a couple of years ago going and doing the whole
parking lot thing before a Raiders game.
That was one of the most fun things I've ever done covering the NFL.
You know, you think that everybody say, oh, my God, you know, out in the parking lot, boy, they're outlaws.
So they dress funny.
They're really cool people.
It's so much fun out there.
They remind me of Jerry Tarkhanian's UNLV rebels.
Yeah.
They were a little off brand for the sports.
To put it mildly.
But I covered Tarks teams and everybody used to say, you know how lucky you are?
I mean, we cover the Arkansas Razorbacks.
They're fun.
You cover Tark in Vegas.
Listen, I don't care how much of a dump that stadium.
is going to a Raiders game is a treat.
And the fact that this is going to be the last one, I think, is so incredibly sad.
It's not just sad for the people of Oakland.
It's sad for the national football league.
I totally agree.
And it's also sad the Chargers not going to be in San Diego.
The NFL is a better place when San Diego has football and when Oakland has football.
It's going to be a sad day.
It's a bittersweet day for the Raiders, especially Derek Carr spent his entire career in Oakland.
He said, I know some of the Raider faithful.
They'll probably be a little sad.
it's the last time, right, but it's out of our control.
It is what it is. I'm juiced. I'm going to be amped up.
So I have to calm down so I don't throw it out of bounds to the 20th row.
Hopefully we'll win the game and I can give somebody the ball.
That'll be fun. As you mentioned, it's obviously a historic place.
They moved to the Oakland Coliseum in 1966, returned in 1995 after 13 years in L.A.
I've watched more baseball games there than football games, actually.
I like watching the A's there.
I've always had bad seats, but it's going to be, I mean, I'm looking forward to seeing what the
experiences like in Las Vegas, obviously nothing is going to replace the experience that, you know,
Peter was just talking about in Oakland's.
But, you know, they couldn't make it work.
Can I just tell you one quick little Brent Musburger thing?
Hey, do it.
We'll do it.
We'll have to take a break.
Okay, all right.
Sorry.
Do you have one more?
No, no.
Okay.
Okay.
I got the story.
Let's tell me a Brent Musburger's story.
It's always welcome on this show and who Peter thinks would be the best Super Bowl for the
National Football League.
That coming up, Peter King Moore.
What a treat for us today.
It's The Herd.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd, Weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a
Pacific. Don't be the guy in the room with the long, sloppy look at Untucket shirt. Go to Untucket.com code. Heard 20% off. Peter King, three-time national sports writer of the year, NBC sports. Let's go back to your Raiders story. You don't like that they're leaving. You talk to Brent Musburger, who is now the voice of the Raiders on radio.
Hey, look, I think Vegas will be a really good place for the NFL. This is not anti-Vegas. They've been so fantastic with the Golden Knights. But Brent Musburger, who lives in Vegas, obviously now,
And he told me a couple of very interesting things.
Number one, there's not going to be a tailgating place around the stadium.
So one of the things that makes the Raiders so great is that they have a college atmosphere in the parking lot before the game.
It is huge.
People build their lives around the eight Sundays or 10, whatever, if you go to the preseason games.
And that's not going to really exist now.
Now it's going to be a lot of hotel shuttles dropping you off at the game.
It'll just be weird.
And the other thing is there's not going to be a black hole.
And so I still think they're going to, in time, find their niche and all that.
But I'll tell you, when I go to a Raiders game the last, I don't know,
I've been to three or four of them in the last 10 years,
I just, I have such a great time because I want to be somewhere
where people are passionate about their team.
And this fan group has been slapped in the face so much.
this Raider fan group and the Raider fan base.
And yet they come out every game.
They'll come out against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
They're not making the playoffs.
The Jaguars aren't.
What does the game mean?
They don't care.
They just want to kill the Jaguars.
And it's a cool thing to see.
Yeah.
And Gruden's got a little rebel on him.
So Gruden plus the Raiders, I still contend it's a top six or seven NFL brand,
despite being dormant for about 15 years.
Peter King is joining us.
If you marketed the NFL,
There's always a sense
the Cowboys and the Super Bowl is the best Super Bowl.
All things considered, if I said to you, Peter King,
what would be your perfect Super Bowl for you in the league?
It would be a Baltimore-San Francisco rematch
because I do think that everybody in the NFL wants new.
And what is so fun about this particular matchup is that,
I mean, Lamar Jackson has got a line of jets
who want to meet him and hug him
and talk to him
and exchanged jerseys with him last night.
And that's like every team in the league.
He is an absolute football magnet right now.
He is what Patrick Mahomes was a year ago, at least, and maybe even more.
He might even be more of a magnetic personality.
And then on the other side, I think the 49ers are fun, they're new.
I think George Kittle could be an absolute sensation.
and I think Jimmy Garoppolo, the Matinee Idol type of guy.
And I think there is something about the 49ers.
They feel next.
And I think America likes next.
So that would be my Super Bowl matchup that I think people would like to see.
Tom Brady sold his house.
Alex Guerrera put his house up.
Tom Brady yesterday or the day before announced,
I no longer will be the Boston spokesperson for a very popular charity.
We hear about the strained relationship.
He wants more money, reportedly, and Belichick, you know how Belichick is.
I think Tom wonders sometimes, okay, I keep taking pay cuts.
Where are all my skill guys?
You know, I'd be like, if my boss has kept giving me a pay cut, and I look around and say, yeah, where is there's a studio still a dump?
And why aren't my coworkers any good?
Where's the money going?
Any chance, Tom, will retire as a non-patriot, just for a year.
Yes.
You think there's a chance.
Oh, yeah.
I keep hearing that from people.
respect. I think he all, I think is, I think this year, what is so interesting for him, and again,
I haven't talked to him. I don't know this. I'm trying to read the tea leaves like everybody else.
But I think this year something really interesting happened, and that is he arranged his contract
so that he could be a free agent after the year and the Patriots couldn't put the franchise tag on him.
So what that means is that he's going to control his fate for.
the first time ever in the NFL. He's going to control his fate. And so I don't know what it means.
It could be that he and Belichick will have a meeting on, you know, the first week of March.
And Bill will say, I need you for two more years. I want you to come back.
And I don't know what will happen. I do know that even if Tom Brady might have his issues with Bill Belichick,
he's not making it up when he says,
I have an incredible amount of respect for Belichick.
He knows.
It's like when the 49ers divorced Joe Montana,
I was, you know, that was right about the time.
I was really getting into covering and being a national guy.
And, you know, everybody knew that Joe Montana really disliked at that time, Bill Walsh,
because he felt like he got forced out for Steve Young.
But later on, Joe Montana understood, you know, that's business.
I'm still not happy that it happened, but that's business.
He didn't hate Bill Walsh, you know, unfortunately when Bill died.
Bradshaw and Noel, we're not always buddies.
Well, Bradshaw and Null is a little bit different.
Bradshaw, I think, still has something against Null to this day.
But I do think, I do think that, you know, after the passage of time,
Whatever happens after this year,
Belichick and Brady will be joined in history,
and it will not be ugly or, you know,
it won't be an arranged marriage.
Yeah.
What a pleasure to have you today.
Now, now, this is Los Angeles.
It's a very big city.
There's a lot of choices.
We're going to go for lunch here.
We've got 30 seconds.
Anywhere spectacular?
I have no idea.
You could go to the Ivy and Beverly Hills.
There's famous.
You could see a Kardashian there.
What if I just want to go have a plate of pasta and work for a little while?
Can I do that?
Is that available in Los Angeles?
I believe that.
Can I have a glass of Kianti at like 1215?
Oh, that's fully available.
Okay, good, good.
Peter, we drink early on.
I love that.
Thank you so much.
Hey, thank you, Colin.
Thank you, Joy.

And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Hey, ref, my mom, I want you.

And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reed.
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nasree.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night bases on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He run up the court, licking his fingers,
why he got the ball like, after you go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it out real quick.
Oh, yeah.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

with bizarre accuracy from Jason McIntyre.
And Joy Taylor is joining today.
It was great to have Peter King on kind of for most of the hour.
Yeah, he was great.
And I'm looking forward to Vegas, too.
I really think that facility aside from, you know, the concerns that he has, which I agree with,
I think it's going to be, I mean, Vegas Prince Money.
So every time there's a new casino there, there's always something incredible.
So that stadium is probably going to be unbelievable.
And the other thing is, because it's the desert and the winters are pretty mild, a lot of AFC teams,
If you have a fan base in New England, Buffalo, Kansas City, there's a lot of those Denver, and it's like, oh, we're playing the Raiders December 8th.
They're going to have a road crowd that's notable.
I do think that it will be supported locally very well.
Yes, absolutely.
The hockey team is support.
I understand there's a lot more people that go to a football game, but it will be supported locally well, too.
All right.
Well, we know we're going to start with.
Kind of predicted Joy and I predicted on the show.
This was a bad matchup for the Jets who are really in rebuild mode.
No question.
The Jeteran Rebuild mode.
Bad offensive line.
But we've got to start with a big Thursday night performance from none other than Lamar Jackson.
Let's start there.
One of the things in life I really enjoy doing in this business is taking rigid people and stuck in their way guy and never seen it other than their opinion guy and making them go, that's a different way to see the world.
They're a ground and pound team, but they average almost nine yards of cats last night.
The league is not used to this, and they're making it.
Everybody go, whoa, you can't be that and that.
And I've had several friends who have gone to a game where Lamar plays, and they're
like, oh, he's better in person.
He's actually better in person.
He's faster in person.
So that's what I love.
Now, let me tell you something I don't love about the whole Lamar thing.
Because privately, they're like, he's good.
We think this could take a while.
And if you watched him last year, in two or three games, you're like, oh, he is.
a little bit of a project. He worked his
butt off. They figured out how to use
him. Greg Roman's amazing.
That's the part of this I don't like. Joe
Montana went in the third round.
Tom Brady in the 6th. I still
don't know if Dak and Kirk cousins are any good.
It's a hard position to figure out.
And he was a hard guy. I saw him
and Josh Allen's projects. I thought they'd work.
I just saw it would take it a while.
And by the way, both are very good. Lamar's going to be the MVP.
So that's the thing I like. He's making us look
differently at football. The thing I don't like is stop
When I can see Lamar's feet because they're moving so fast,
The game doesn't overwhelm Lamar.
In fact, he's overwhelming the game.
And some of this is because he played quarterback in high school for three years.
He started and he got 25, 26 starts in.
And then he went to college and he played early and he got 35 college starts in.
So he's been playing quarterback for a long time.
And this has been his style.
But I have a friend who used to be a professional water skier.
And he tried to teach me how to water ski.
And I remember getting up there thinking, oh, my God, we're going so fast.
Oh, my God.
He's like, you're almost going the slowest you can go and still stay afloat.
But with Lamar, because he's been playing at 100 miles an hour like a race car driver,
going 75 for him is pumping the brakes.
Lamar plays at a speed in which he's totally comfortable playing at the speed and nobody else is comfortable.
The game gets too fast for Sam Darnold, for Baker, for Kyler.
I thought early it was too fast.
But it's not too fast for him because he has lightning speed.
He's been driving a race car for 60 starts, and 75 miles an hour for him is slowing it down.
His decision making is remarkable considering the speed in which he plays.
And I know a lot of people are on the whole Michael Vick thing, and he broke Michael Vick's record.
He reminds me of a more athletic Steve Young,
a little bit like a super fast Russell Wilson.
He's a lot of several people,
but I'll go back to the thing that makes him special.
Between his first year and his second year,
he's a grown-up.
It's the maturity, the understanding, the big picture.
Now, I still think this offseason, he needs to go to a baseball camp and learn how to slide.
And I guarantee you he will because he's coachable.
Franchise quarterback's not just about, man, he's got a big arm.
Wow, he's fast.
After the game he had this.
say and it goes back to this is 30% of quarterback is the other stuff we know as tangibles are good
it's the intangibles here they are again on display um it's pretty cool um i don't know when i broke
it um i know people very early when i told you congratulations okay okay okay okay okay okay yeah i was
trying to be locked in no you know i was trying to be locked in the whole whole entire game
you know the goal is to win you know not break a record but i'm happy you know my teammates happen for me
It's Michael Vick, so it's amazing, man.
I'm grateful.
Didn't really care about it.
Didn't really remember breaking it.
Wasn't a big deal.
Didn't say, get me the football.
I love that he's making all of us who have watched football forever see it differently.
He's a contrarian without even trying to be.
I love that.
I am tired of, how did anybody pass on him?
The Ravens did.
But his ability, his split,
decisions, his nimble, twitchy mind that gets things done quickly with no mistakes is fascinating.
And when you play that fast, I guess 75 miles an hour is fast for everybody else, and it's
slow for you. Love watching him play. All right. So let's shift gears to Troy Aikman is a
former Hall of Fame quarterback, obviously, and now a broadcaster for Fox. And he was talking about
something we've joined I have discussed, how good are the Cowboys actually? And Aikman was talking
about their talent, and here he goes.
This team really is talent.
Everyone thought coming into the season, and I've reached
out to a lot of people around the league
that have played the Cowboys and
have studied them on film, and
there are...
Okay, and it's interesting.
Maybe it is, and I tend to agree,
but when you talk
great, not very good, Amari Cooper's
very good, but
Zeke is a great talent,
probably the first or second best player in the
league at his position. The Cowboys have
four great players. Tyron Smith when healthy left tackle, Travis Frederick the center,
Zach Martin, maybe the best offensive lineman currently at right guard, and Zeke. Those are great
players. Those are Hall of Fame level players. Now Amari Cooper, Jalen Smith are very good. Wouldn't
put him great yet. Well, let's look at Baltimore. So Lamar Jackson right now, he's great.
And Earl Thomas, the safety, is great. And Ronnie Stanley left tackle is great. And Marshall Yonda,
right guard is great. And then they got about three really, really good players, Mark Ingram, Mark
Andrews, Jimmy Smith, Marcus Peters. Let's look at the Saints. Everybody loves the Saints right now.
Michael Thomas is great. Drew Breeze is great. There's no question. Ryan Ramcheck,
the offensive lineman is great, and Cameron Jordan is great. Alvin Kamara is really, really good,
little down year's good. So they get about four. San Francisco to me, he's got four or five.
Nick Bose is great. George Kittle is great. Richard Sherman this year is.
Boy, has he been great.
And DeForest Buckner, the defense of linemen, is great.
Then they've got Emmanuel Sanders.
It's very, very good.
You know, they've got some very, very good player.
Jimmy Gropel is a very good player.
My point is, if you have four great players like the Cowboys do,
you can't be six and seven, which points back to coaching.
You just can't be sick.
Because all those other teams are 11 and 2 and 12 and 3,
and you start looking around the NFL.
If New England has one, Stefan Gilmore, he is great.
Outside of that, they have a lot of very good players, eight or nine.
Brady right now is a really good player.
It's not great this year.
So I guess my point is, is Dallas's roster overrated?
They have four Hall of Fame level players and then about four really goods.
So here's what I know.
Dallas is one of those seven or eight teams in the league that probably has four great players that will get Hall of Fame boats.
And they also have about three really, really, really good players.
you can't be six and seven.
You can't be six and seven.
Because all those other teams are winning divisions,
nine wins, ten wins,
11 wins, Dallas has six.
To me, it's a coaching issue.
Maybe a little overrated, but a coaching issue.
They're also an underdog at home this week
to the inconsistent L.A. Rams.
That, too, is telling you what Vegas thinks
about Sean McVeigh and Jason Garrett's staff.
Bernard Pollard was a great player for the Chiefs
and the Ravens.
guy, knock guys out. I mean, he was a safety played as hard as anybody, intimidating. He'll be
joining us next. Plus, Jason McIntyre tomorrow's headlines today in about 30 minutes from now.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing
and we're still chasing it
and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person
while you hear on earth,
or are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person.

Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Ms. Parker.

What's up, fam, Ms. Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is,
about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs
without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash will get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He run up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
It's time to talk Super 6 NFL Sunday.
Rams Cowboys is one of the matchups this week.
Colin, help us win some money this weekend.
Give us a winner and a final score.
Rams 2823.
I think it's a coaching mismatch.
I like the defensive coordinator and the head coach for the Rams.
And Rams are actually been a very good road team.
They're giving Gurley the Rock a little more, which I like.
And I think their defense since Ramsey arrived.
Jalen Ramsey arrived has been much better.

What a pleasure today. Bernard Pollard played for almost a decade in the NFL, most notably for the Ravens and the Chiefs.
He would light you up. Ask New England fans. He knocked a few patriots out, including Brady in 2008.
He's now in beautiful Nashville, Tennessee, and he's joining us via the Coward Global Satellite Network.
Bernard, you know, I love having you on, and we've talked about this. I love Baltimore. They do things right.
owner, GM, Harbaugh.
John Harbaugh deserves some of the Lamar credit.
Lamar deserves most of it.
What makes John Harbaugh to you, Bernard?
What makes him special as a coach?
So you had to ask me that, I guess.
But you know what?
As far as Coach Harbaugh, he knew the talent that he had.
As far as I was there obviously with Ozzy.
Ozzie did a great job getting his guys in,
knowing and understanding what they were there to do.
And I'm one of those guys.
And there's no disrespect, you know, to Harbaugh.
But, you know, Ozzy and them did a great job as far as putting things in place.
And Coach Harbaugh came in and kind of kept everything.
He kind of helped keep everything together.
But we were a veteran-led football team.
And so it was a lot of fun.
When you look at Lamar Jackson, I thought he would be a project.
I said he and Josh Allen will be good, but they need time.
They're young.
I mean, he's only 22 now.
In fact, I think Joe Burrow is older than Lamar Jackson now.
So that shows you how young Lamar is.
Is there a way?
You were a big hitter.
Is there a way to stop Lamar and is part of it just physically confront him?
You know what?
They did a great job getting a lot of hitters out of the NFL.
The rules and everything else as far as being able to hit,
they want defenders to see the player, say hello to the player before they hit the player.
and then they want them to bear hug the player down.
So they've removed a lot of violence from football, but they're still violence.
I think when you look at Lamar, Lamar is a special electric athlete that is he is better
than the other 11 players on the defensive side of the ball.
And he's going to take shots.
It's not a matter if, it's win when we talk about this style of play.
But he's so elusive that he's getting away with it as we've been watching.
And a lot of people want to see him play this game.
because he is a must-see guy.
Are you surprised how good of a thrower of the football?
I mean, we knew, because last year, I went and watched him live,
and he made a couple of throws against a very good Chargers defense,
and I was sitting there thinking, a little better thrower than I thought.
Are you surprised that he appears to beat?
First of all, he doesn't throw interceptions.
He's incredibly accurate on the deep ball, very good on the seam.
Are you surprised at all?
So I differ with a lot of people, you know, watching football, playing the game of football.
He throws three to four routes.
And when you look at crossers, everything, a lot of his routes are directly in front of him.
He holds onto the ball to allow that vision to be there for him and the receiver.
Now, when we talk about his deep ball, yes, he throws a good deep ball.
But when we talk about everything outside of the deep ball, there's a crosser.
have a hitch and then they have, you know, some pick plays. So, you know, I'm not, I'm not trying
to hate on the guy. I think, I think he's a spectacular athlete, but when I look at the development
of him, a lot of people say he's really good, he's gotten better. I think, yes, he's gotten better,
but when we look at what's going on, as far as the development of him as a quarterback, there's no
adjustments. They come out. They play football. He doesn't read the defense. I think the Baltimore
Ravens are looking at it and saying, look, our, our quarterback, if anything break down,
is better than your 11 players.
So if these two plays, as far as passing routes doesn't work,
he's going to take off and run and beat everybody on your team.
So you still, and a lot of people in the league don't want to say it publicly because of the blowback,
you still think it's harder to face a Drew Breeze who is going to manipulate you as a safety.
That to you is still the way mostly to win?
Well, so when I look at all of this, I say the Baltimore Ravens are going to win games.
They're going to go on roles as far as winning consecutive games.
We saw that last year.
He's that talented to where if a play breakdown, he's going to outrun your, first of all,
your front four.
He's going to outrun every one of them.
And then your linebackers.
And so you have to have a great angle or you better do whatever you can and make sure you
rally to bring them down.
When I look at what he's doing as far as a passer, I look at the Drew Reeves, I look at the
Aaron Rogers, I look at the Russell Wilson.
Yes, he's beat those guys.
He has.
He's done a great job beating them.
But I think when it comes down to playoff play and just the longevity of this style of play,
I don't think it is going to last because when you look at the Aaron Rogers,
those guys, any quarterback can take a hit in the pocket.
But when we look at, okay, they might see a blitz and they're going to say,
we ain't running that way or I'm not doing whatever.
I'm going to send my line that way to get this ball out this way.
And you just don't see that from Lamar Jackson.
And that goes to the coaches staff as far as developing him.
You know, the NFL is funny.
The New England Patriots, you're known as the Patriot killer, Tom Brady, West Welker.
And you were, I mean, you were a physically imposing guy.
You played a lot like John Lynch, where if you were in the picture, bad things were going to happen and guys were going to be bruised on Monday.
You know, when you look at the Patriots and the new story on the bingles and the taping and that stuff,
as a former rival of them in Kansas City and Baltimore, you know, the scandals and the news.
stuff. How do you view, what's your worldview on Belichick pushing the envelope?
I mean, they're getting caught doing a lot of things that are somewhat illegal. They're saying
they're illegal. The Patriots are getting caught doing it. I know I played for a few teams where we
knew hand signals. We knew and understood what was going on. We had pictures. We had video from
if it was TV copy or whether it was, you know, a copy from the sideline. You know, we had those.
So, I mean, at the end of the day, you still got to go play the game of football.
And if you know the plays, I know with our defense, we had multiple names for different things.
So that way, if they caught on the one, we will go to our secondary or, you know, whatever it was.
So it's just, I think it's crazy that they continue to get caught up with this kind of bull crap.
You would think they learned after the first and second time.
But they haven't learned anything yet.
Bernard Pollard almost a decade in the NFL.
So I have this theory that, and it's not really a theory, that when you're dealing with professional football players, they're alphas, most are millionaires, they're guys, guys, they're not looking.
You've got to be able to walk in the room and win the room.
Mike Tomlin, Sean Payton, Sean McVeigh, they can carry a conversation.
Herm Edwards was like this.
Herm talked.
He was engaging.
So I'm watching Adam Gase in the sidelines last night.
And I'm telling you, Bernard, the optics are terrible.
He's buried in a play sheet.
I think that stuff matters.
It makes me look at the Jets and Donald and think this thing's not going to work.
Am I overstating the value of that?
Well, so I watched last night's game, and I kind of, to be honest with you, I thought the same thing.
You know, when I'm looking at him, the way he's, you see the frustration from the players.
You see the frustration, and he's trying as hard as to hide it, but you can't.
But I think last night, they were trying to do any and everything to make it work.
If things would have went accordingly last night, it should have been a 28 to 28 or 2128 game
going into that end of the third beginning of the fourth quarter, but they just couldn't make
anything happen.
But that boils down to the coaches.
I don't know how Adam Gates got another head coaching job.
I look at the players.
They're frustrated.
You know, you have all kind of mess happening with, you know, with bail last week.
But I just, I look at all of this and I say he's the coach, he's the overseer of the football team.
He has to take blame for this.
I don't understand what he's doing.
He's reaching.
They're trying to be successful.
And last night, it just showed.
And the loss is late in the season when you know you're going home, you're not playing for anything.
It sucks even worse.
Yeah.
Bernard, Paul, are joining us.
Bernard, I made a, I had a commentary about five minutes ago or 10 minutes ago, I said,
said, listen, people say the cowboy, Troy Aikman said, maybe the talent's overrated.
And you could certainly make that argument, but they do have four great players, Zeke and
three of those offensive linemen, and then they have a series of very good players.
Excellent. Jalen Smith, I think, is terrific. Amari Cooper.
Well, I look at Baltimore, and I see four great players, two in the offensive line,
Lamar, Earl Thomas, and then I see a series of excellent, very good players.
Marcus Peters, good but inconsistent.
Jimmy Smith is very good.
When you look at the Cowboys talent,
is it a talent issue or is it a coaching issue to you?
So I've heard a lot of people talking about the Dallas Cowboys
the last month, month and a half.
When I look at the Cowboys, when I watch them play, it's inconsistency.
You know, so the coaches and the players got to take,
they have to take their share of blame with that.
I always say, it doesn't matter what the coach calls in.
We got to go out as players and play it.
the coaches are making bad calls defensively.
When I look at the Cowboys, I don't look at them as a dominant defense.
As you say, I look at them as they've got a couple good players defensively
that can make some plays every now and again.
Yeah.
But offensively, they have a lot of talent that this is not playing good football right now.
So when you got players, pros that are not playing good football
with the coaching staff that are not calling the games the way they're supposed to
in critical moments, it's just going to, you're going to have a bad end.
And if we look at the Cowboys, they have a lot of good talent that they're underachieving year in and a year out.
So it sucks.
You want to see, you want to say get rid of, you know, the head coach.
But then you're looking at, okay, well, if another head coach come in, he's got to come in louder.
He's got to, he's got to command certain things from a football team.
Will that happen?
Can it happen with Jerry Jones being an owner?
And, you know, that coach, you know, potentially getting more, you know, publicity than Jerry Jones.
I don't know.
Bernard, finally, this morning, think of the paths, AFC, NFC, NFC.
What team do you do you believe in Miami become Super Bowl champ?
Who feels like health, obstacles, coaching?
What team do you jumps out?
And I hate to say it because I've always said,
I don't trust a New England quarterback that's not in New England.
And I look at the 49ers.
Garoppolo's been playing good football.
The running game has been there, the office of line.
is intact. Nobody's 100%, but you look at the run game, you look at what Coach Shanahan
is doing with the pieces offensively Kyle is an offensive genius. I was with him in Houston.
And then you look at their defense. They're dominant with the front seven. Their secondary is playing
good ball. I see the 49ers finally pulling out a Super Bowl. You know, we beat them in New Orleans,
but I think in Miami, I see the 49ers winning. And if it's not them, I think it's the Saints.
Good stuff. Bernard Pollard. What a pleasure to have you on a Friday talking some Ravens and stuff.
Continued success. If you're ever in Los Angeles, we would love to have you on the couches here, man.
Thank you, Bernard. Thank you very much. Good stuff. Bernard Pollard, who's been in that league. Tough guy, man.
He's one of those safeties. He come down in the box, like just strap it on. He's coming like a torpedo.
Here's Joy with the News.
No, no, no, no. Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So if you've been paying attention, Mark Ingram has been one of Lamar Jackson's biggest cheerleaders this season.
He all saw him at the podium.
And after last night's game, Aaron Andrews handed him the mic to interview Lamar about his record-breaking performance.
Someone suggested I give you the mic, can you ask a question?
You want to go ahead?
Freaky L.
AKA Axon Jackson, aka Era A. A. A. P.A. A. A.A. A. A.A. A. A.A. A. A.A. A. A. A.A. A. A.A. A. A.
Vick's Russian record, man. You the
AFC North champions for the second year in a row.
How I feel, man. Tell me how I feel,
Frikey. It feels good, but you know, we got a lot
of season left to play, and we got
two more banners to hang up. So you're
telling me the story unwritten? Unwritten
written. Book unfinished. Right.
Congratulations, brother, on breaking Mike's Vic record
and being the goat, the MVP that you are.
That is so funny to me.
Yeah. Mark Ingram's got a
broadcasting when he's done playing.
Yeah, the energy around this team is just contagious.
Like, as I said, I mean, I'm from Pittsburgh, so I'm not supposed to like anything the Ravens do.
But you can't help but respect everything that's going on with them.
And it's just fun.
And like you said earlier, sometimes we get so caught up and talking about, you know, is this sustainable?
And, you know, what's this style of play?
And this person's the MVP.
And this is, like, we're all just enjoying watching football being played at the highest level.
And guys actually enjoying what's happening.
feel like that's what the Ravens have.
I feel like that's what the 49ers have.
I feel like the chiefs are getting back into that space.
Like, it's just fun, great football.
And it's fun to watch.
After the game, there was Jets fans, or Jets fans,
Jets players lining up to get autographs.
It's kind of ironic I said Jets fans.
To get autographs from Lamar Jackson,
who brought extra jerseys.
Guys were tweeting about it.
Magic said congratulations to Lamar Jackson
for passing Michael Vig's record.
Can you spell MVP?
RG3, repeat champs,
AFC North, MVP, still on a mission.
Shannon to
Lamar Jackson will win the MVP. The only
question now is, will it be unanimously?
I mean, obviously he's going to be the MVP this season.
It's very well deserved. But
it's just been fun to watch
his rise and what's going on with the Ravens.
Ravens are a good organization.
Barring any crazy injuries
are going to be really good for a long time. Ravens are,
I like well-run teams
being rewarded. I felt like I was watching a really
well-run business last night.
play a poorly run business.
Yep. And that's why I've been saying all year, I can't stand tanking.
I don't like when organizations try to sell out for one great hope.
And, I mean, essentially, that's what happened with the Colts.
It really didn't work out because they built their teams solely around Andrew Luck being the hero of that team.
They didn't invest in the offensive line.
And we all know how that ended.
Like, not that they didn't have success with Andrew Luck, obviously was incredible and had an incredible career.
but I'm with you.
I like when organizations stay competitive.
Every year is not going to be a Super Bowl year,
but stay in the mix, continue to build,
and you get rewarded with longevity.
So Odell has not had much success with the Browns so far,
and rumors are swirling that he wants out of Cleveland's,
but his teammate Jarvis Landry,
who's known for a very long time,
isn't buying that OBJ is trying to leave.
Well, I think he wants to be here.
I know he wants to be here.
You know, it's not even about, you know,
trying to go somewhere else. And inside of this organization, you know, he has he has a voice.
He has responsibility, you know, to himself, to all of us, you know, and to go out there and
compete each and every Sunday. And he does that. So I don't think he doesn't want to leave,
and he's not trying to, trying to leave. I don't think he's focusing on where he's going to be
next year right now, despite the state that the Browns are in. But there's a lot of smoke around
the situation.
Yes.
And Peter King said, what are you going to get for him?
Well, that's kind of the issue.
And that's part of, that's my reservation about whether this will actually happen or not.
Obviously, there were teams who would be willing to trade for O'Dowell, but are they going
to give the Browns what's necessary to move O'Dell?
That I don't know.
Last 40 games, he's missed a lot of them.
He's been hurt a lot.
He's not even heard.
He's been dinged up a lot.
He gets, he's fairly fragile.
He does, I wouldn't say injured, but he does get banged up a little bit.
I do think what's interesting will be what the Browns choose to do at the head coaching position next year.
If they bring in someone like Mike McCarthy, I think it could be a potential situation where we see Odell actually thrive
because I believe in having a Super Bowl level coach developing a system in Cleveland that could develop Baker and get them to where they need to be.
But that's, you know, we got to see what Cleveland does.
Finally, through the first half of the season, the Patriots were undefeated and led the league in scoring, starting with,
Week 9, Lost of the Ravens.
There's been a little drop off offensively,
and now they've gone two and three.
But running back, James White thinks
they're about to turn things around.
I think everybody sees a light end of the tunnel.
Like I said, we still have our opportunity
to play our best football, which we haven't done yet.
And you just want to go out there and do that, honestly.
I said, tired of coming in and saying,
we can be better, do better.
I mean, obviously, even if you have a good performance,
you can still find things to improve on.
Everybody's just want to go out there
and fly around from the first play to last play
coming at a locker room and say
we actually did our jobs
to the best we could on that day.
Well, lucky for the Patriots.
They are at the Bengals this weekend.
Then they have the Bills and Dolphins at home.
So bills obviously are a tough opponent, but...
What are they now, the two-seed?
Well, they clinch the division
with the win or the tie this weekend.
I'm not sure where they are overall.
Baltimore is the one seed.
So if they win out, they would face...
They would host Kansas City.
or they would go to Baltimore.
I don't think either of those will end well for New England, actually.
If they have their buyer, they're at home, then I would feel better about it, yes.
But I do think that this is a good schedule for them heading into the postseason
with all the questions surrounding their offense because they do have two light opponents,
the Bengals and the Dolphins.
And they have young receivers, so it's not like they have old receivers you're hoping you're healthy.
They have young receivers who can get better, get your finger crossed.
And can get their confidence going a little bit.
There you go, Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.

One of my favorite segments every week, Jason McIntyre, former newspaper guy.
And we predict what the newspaper headline will be, J. Mac, on Monday.
Before we get into our tomorrow's headlines today, as a Jets fan, what?
I thought you were going to talk about what we were just talking about.
No, what was a Jets fan?
What do you think?
I don't know about gays.
I'm starting to have my doubts.
I thought he was the guy.
You know, he got stamp of approval from Peyton Manning, got the dollar.
Offens to the playoffs back in the day.
But did you see the Darnold exchange with him on the...
It just didn't look good.
Levian Bell's out on him.
I thought the Jets put up a good fight.
First game in prime time, they didn't get their teeth kicked in.
Remember the Patriots destroyed them, the Browns with the third string quarterback.
Here's the exchange right here.
Donald kind of just waves him off like, ah.
And you look at Levyon Bell right there.
Levyon Bell's just staring at the coach.
They don't get along too well.
Gaze is a little prickly.
I don't feel good.
I was texting one of the guys here, one of the big executives.
another Jets fan.
And he said 13 and 3 next year, which, you know, as Jets fans, we're waiting for a breakthrough.
It's never going to happen, is it?
All right.
No, it's not.
Tomorrow's headlines today, what will the headline be after the Texans Titans match?
Interesting, big game.
Yeah, yeah.
I hear a lot of hype for Ryan Tannahill.
Geez, he looked like Joe Montana last week beating the Raiders.
The headline will be, run from the Tana Hills.
I mean, Colin, we're so desperate in the NFL right now for quarterback.
that anytime someone flashes for like three or four weeks,
Gardner Minchew, he could be a guy.
Kyle Allen, we don't need Cam Newton.
We got Kyle Allen, even Nick Foles,
wins the Super Bowl, the Jaguars go give them all the money in the world.
This is what Ryan Tannahill's on right now.
Just one of those hot streaks.
It happens.
He's looked good.
He's beaten some really bad teams, you know,
Colter are bad team right now.
The Raiders are bad.
They got lucky to get by the Chiefs.
I just, when I start hearing franchise tag and Ryan Tannahill,
it's pumped the break time for me.
I like the Texans this weekend.
John Watson gets Will Fuller back, and they're going to torch his Titan secondary, which is very bad.
Sorry to my man, Clay Travis, big Titans fan out in Nashville.
Yes, I agree with you on that pick.
All right, tomorrow's headlines today.
What will the headline be for the Bears Packers Affair?
I think we both agree this is going to be a closer game than the experts think.
Tribusky is limited, but the staff has figured out kind of how to use him.
It's been pretty good since week 10.
The headline will be.
Rogers gives Chicago a nagging headache.
Cower's laughing, joy giving a smirk over there.
Listen, Aaron Rogers, last time he threw an interception eight weeks ago,
Aaron Rogers quietly is having a phenomenal season.
I know he hasn't looked totally sharp.
They don't put away the red skins.
He's not Aaron Rogers of five years ago,
but people don't realize this is a Packers team on course to get a buy.
Maybe the second seed, maybe the first seed if things fall their way.
They're a buy and plan at home.
And again, you're going to be talking about Lambo, January.
You're getting healthy with Aaron Jones, Devante Adams.
Listen, I don't love the Packers metrics.
The advanced stats guys hate the Packers because their defense is getting shredded.
And maybe Trubisky shows up.
But I think this is a slam dunk Packers victory.
They're just quietly 10 and 3.
Some people want to call them fraudulent.
But I'm telling you, Aaron Rogers, if you look at his analytics, he's been phenomenal.
And he's not even in the MVP race.
A lot of good quarterbacks.
All right.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
What's the headline?
going to be for the Bill Steelers.
This is, you know, this was flexed to Sunday night.
The Bill Steelers, bills on Sunday night for the first time, I think, in like 12 years,
the headline will be the mighty duck.
You like Pittsburgh.
I do.
Now, we're on different sides here.
I like Buffalo.
Let me just tell you, I don't know which Josh Allen is going to show up, okay?
So Thanksgiving Thursday, Josh Allen out there looking like Steve Young, carving up the Cowboys.
He was phenomenal.
Last week against the Ravens, he looked like Matt Saracen.
the quarterback from Friday Night Lights.
I know you don't watch that show.
Hopefully Joy does.
And it's like Josh Allen under pressure,
one for 16 against the Ravens.
He can't hit a pass to save his life.
I think Doug Hodges, who has been...
He's a gamer.
As a third stringer.
He's a Gardner Minchu.
He is a gamer.
I think he's a little better than Gardner.
He's getting Juju Smith-Schuster back.
He is.
James Conner's back.
And I think you talked about it this year.
Mike Tomlin has to be in consideration for Coach of the Year.
It's unbelievable.
The Jets had their third-string quarterback, okay?
And they couldn't move the football.
They're losing like 35-0.
Duck Hodges, third-string quarterback,
he went to Samford or something like that.
He has them in the mix to get to the playoffs.
I think he shows up and beats the bill Sunday night.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
What's the headline for the Rams Cowboys Tiff?
You know, work on this with a great staff there,
and I thought this one was a little bit harsh.
The headline will be,
I'll be home for Christmas.
Jason Garrett.
Listen, I'm not trying to sing the version of it.
It's getting ugly in Dallas, okay?
They have nothing to play for this week.
You realize that.
They beat the Rams.
It doesn't matter.
They still have to face the Eagles,
and that's for everything.
Okay, Christmas falls, I believe, on like a Wednesday.
There's a good chance,
Jason Garrett, if he doesn't beat the Eagles,
is fired on Christmas Eve by Jerry Jones.
It could get that ugly in Dallas.
Listen, if they lose this weekend to the Eagles,
Yeah, why would you have him for week 17?
Six and nine?
Yeah.
Oh, my Lord.
And again, we've talked about it.
I know this is Joy's Super Bowl pick from earlier this year.
We've talked about it at length.
This is a Cowboys team that's beaten nobody this year.
Nobody.
Absolutely nobody.
And the Rams are somebody.
Let me just give some props to Sean McVeigh.
You stole his genius card.
You remember, like, six weeks ago.
I said it was expired.
I mean, Colin, we talk offline about this.
When people adjust, okay, to what they need to do,
not what they want to do, you're a smart person.
and McVeigh has gone back to the running game.
Did you see Brandon Cooks had two targets last week?
Cooper Cup four.
They say, we're going two tight ends.
We're running the football.
Todd Gurley, they've run for a buck 50 the last couple weeks.
When they've gotten hot, I think they run over Dallas and the Rams win.
And I feel bad for Jason Garrett.
Finally, tomorrow's headlines today.
What's it going to be for the Vikings Chargers match?
This is one of my favorite picks of the weekend.
I don't have as much money as you do on a college football playoff game.
But I'm significantly in.
on one side, the headline will be
Thunderbolts and Vikings, very, very frightening.
Galileo!
I like the Chargers this week.
I do.
I like them a lot.
You know, Vikings are not as good on grass.
I'm so glad you brought that up.
So the Vikings have nine wins this year.
Guess how many have are over a team that currently has a winning record?
Take a wild guess.
Two? Zero.
Really?
They're none.
All four losses are to good teams.
Bears beat them.
I think they lost to the Chiefs and Matt Moore.
Like, this is a Vikings team kind of fraudulent.
I think they get exposed here.
And the Chargers are as healthy as they've been all year.
They are.
You know, I was going to bet this game.
And then I got the health report from the Chargers.
And I was like, oh, nobody's hurt.
Do you draw back.
By the way, the Chargers, maybe the best team in a long time with that record.
Yes.
Now, I know people are screaming at their radio or TV.
Well, Jason, the Chargers aren't good.
folks between the Melvin Gordon stuff
Hunter Henry
Mike Williams they're finally all healthy
this is a big home game for them I think they can play spoiler
and I think they beat the Vikings this is my favorite pick of the weekend
Chargers wow
yeah a little out there I know how have you done with your big
gambling let's just say it's been an up and down season
Whitlock two weeks ago
bet and won more money than anybody I know
that's not in the mob hey a squirrel finds a nut every once in a while
he had a huge weekend and I gave
him a San Francisco parlay.
He owes me a big fat sirloin.
Colin Cowherd giving out parlays now, huh?
Yeah.
Why don't you give your college football pick
right now? You want to save it? That big
wager you told me. My jaw
dropped. I bet the most
in the history of my life on a football
game in Clemson, Ohio State.
You want to save it?
I'm not talking about it. You're not talking about it. Okay, I will not say
anything. Don't ask me online, people. Stop
sliding into my Instagram DMs.
Who did Cowhert bet on this weekend?
How are your blazing five going, by the way?
Very good after this weekend.
Sounds about right.
All right.
You know, when's the last time you went in a long drive?
When you go on one, you should have endurance XT silicone wiper blades.
Do you like driving?
Some people do.
I love driving. I don't.
Some people love driving.
I love driving.
Yeah, my wife's that way.
My wife get in the car.
Joy, do you like driving?
I do not, no.
Yeah.
See, my wife just loves it.
These last two times longer than other blades.
They've got that quad-tech four-layer coated silicone that repels water, snow, and ice.
And it's available now at Walmart.
They went 16,000 miles to check it out to test it.
Rainforest, tundra, the desert, to ensure that when you go on these long drives,
and, you know, some people love driving.
The wiper blades over the next three months in winter weather can sustain excellence.
Four-layer coated silicone, quad tech.
That's the new Michelin, Endurance, XT, silicone, wiper blades.
Speak for yourself next.
