This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast.
Just listen.
We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy,
not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest,
SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends
on the ice.
Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever
reported on, a Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman.
Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud.
But how long can this alliance last?
Tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me?
Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions,
the moment and the stuff nobody gets to hear.
Listen to SportsSlic.
On the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
And for more, follow Timbo Slic Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok.
The volume.
What is going on, everybody, John Middlecock, 3 now podcast.
How are we doing?
Hopefully everyone's doing well.
Here's the plan for today.
We've had podcasts the last two days.
We've had three, actually.
We have one with Colin after the Sunday games.
Sunday afternoon games.
I did a podcast after the Sunday night game for the 49ers and Falcons.
We did another big one yesterday reacting to the double header last night on Monday night football.
So today we're going to do a big mail bag.
At John Middilkoff is the Instagram.
Fire into those DMs.
Get your questions answered right here.
So my DMs are wide open.
Fire in on Instagram.
Just my name at John Middlecock.
And we're going to do a massive mailbag.
It's like hour 20 minutes.
So buckle up.
I wanted to try to answer a million questions
because I have so many that I'm just,
it's impossible to get to them all.
But I want you to know I try.
High effort here.
Trying to overachieve.
But I can't do a seven-hour mail bag.
But I did a,
it's probably one of the longest ones we've ever done.
So that will be the game playing the day.
I've recorded this on a Tuesday afternoon.
So buckle up.
And, yeah, other than that,
you guys know the drill.
Make sure you subscribe if you listen
on Collins feed, subscribe to three and out.
Make sure you, to our podcast feed, Apple, Spotify, wherever you may listen, we got you covered.
Obviously, everything we do is on YouTube.
So you can find all this content on YouTube as well as we go live on YouTube every single Thursday night, Sunday night, and Monday night.
And then obviously that podcast comes out early the next morning.
So we get that thing turned around.
We got a team full all-stars and a bald guy that just talks into a mic.
So that's what we're doing.
But before we dive into anything, here's what I got to tell you about.
My friends, my partners, and the official ticketing app of this podcast game time.
Best ticketing app in America.
If I lived in Toronto and I saw these tickets are not cheap,
there's no way I wouldn't attend one of these games.
That place is going to be bananas.
Now, do I like Toronto's chances?
I do not.
I think the Dodgers got a gentleman sweep written all over it,
but going to a World Series game, I've been to a couple.
They're badass.
So if you get the opportunity, if you live in Southern California, the NBA, I'm recording this.
Somehow the NBA is tipping off October 21st.
October 20, I remember when it used to tip off in like early November.
They're moving that bad boy up.
If you want to go to a basketball game, college pro, obviously football, concerts, comedy shows.
We got you covered.
So take the guest work out of buying tickets with GameTime.
Download the GameTime app, create an account, and use a code John for $20 off for the first purchase.
Terms reply again.
Create an account, redeem the code.
John, J.O.H.N. for $20 off, download on the game.
map today last minute, take its lowest prices guaranteed.
Let's
dive into the mailbag.
Okay.
Didn't realize how much of content
of yours that I follow. I enjoy your fair
takes. Not everyone can say that, but I appreciate you.
My question is about dayball. I agree the Giants should give him another
year, especially since he isn't a great
there's not a great candidate for head coaching this cycle.
My question is, do you think a coach like him
who is volatile in high pressure situations
charging into the medical tent, overly aggressive sideline actions and interactions
is something that can be changed.
Chargers Harbaugh is animated but seems he is far more controlled.
Meanwhile, Daibald looks unhinged and may not be a good leader for this team.
Jim Harbaugh is also over 60.
I remember him early on in his 49er career.
He was as volatile if not more volatile than Brian Daibald.
He would like get in Tiffs with other coaches constantly.
He was insane, which was awesome.
Now, here's the thing.
When you're insane and you're energetic and you're winning, everyone loves you.
Right?
Those gifs over the ears of like Kirby Smart and Nick Sabin and Will Must champ kicking everyone's ass are really fun.
Well, they're winning national championships.
When you start doing that and losing, it's not as fun.
So your personality is your personality, right?
My personality, your personality, we're all wired a little bit differently.
obviously Brian Dayball is just an on-tilt, edgy individual.
Now, I think with age, you definitely chill out.
I actually stumbled upon, I was trying to fall asleep after the podcast on Monday night.
I'm laying there, it's like 1145.
She's asleep, so I don't want to turn on the TV.
So I grab my iPad.
I know the blue light close to your eyes is not good, but it's like, I need something.
I can't turn on the light to read a book.
Not that I would.
But if I want to do, I couldn't anyway.
So I started going to YouTube and I grabbed my iPad and put it in your phone.
And I watched this clip on 60 minutes Bill Parcell.
Somehow, the algorithm knows me well.
From like 2004, he had just been hired by the Dallas Cowboys.
Maybe it was after his first year.
And even people were saying like he had chilled out a lot.
And he was like 62 at the time.
Like as you age, it's hard to have the same energy and ferocity that like Nick Sabin at
70 years old, while relative to the rest of human beings is pretty intense, nowhere near as
intense as he probably was at 55 years old. It's just, it's a natural cycle of being a human.
So, yeah, I mean, I think that the Brian Dayball you're seeing now is the guy you're getting
if you keep him another year and if it goes well for the foreseeable future.
I know the season is not over yet, but what college quarterback this season has impressed
you the most and do you think could end up being the number one overall pick?
You know, I don't know if I've seen a guy that I would feel comfortable drafting number one
overall. And I think we've got to be very careful about this. Because if you could do it over,
right, the Titans would take, actually, if the Titans could do it over, what they would do is
they'd take Abdul Carter number one and then they would trade into the first round to get Jackson
Dark. Because you could have had Abdul Carter and Jackson Dark. Instead, they have Cam Ward,
who, again, I'm not jumping off the ship on that,
but we got to call a spade a spade.
It hasn't gone well.
So, like, I think we got to this kind of situation
where the top quarterback had to go really high.
And it's like, this guy's not going to be good enough to ever live up.
Mack Jones is resurrecting his career.
Mac Jones isn't a first-round player in any draft,
let alone this quarterback inflation draft.
So I think you've got to be very careful.
Like, Ty Simpson is really good.
he's on a stack team with an elite coaching staff.
I've seen other guys, Tua, Mac Jones,
have a lot of success in that program.
So, like, I couldn't draft Ty Simpson number one overall.
I got to watch Fernando Mendoza a little bit closely, or closer,
but I had a buddy who works in the NFL, high up, you know,
like number two executive, was at one of his games and was really impressed with him.
I think it was the Oregon game.
And he's like, listen, after he threw that pick six,
and then for him to bounce back and lead them on a on a TD drive like it was really impressive physically he's got all the skills i said number one overall pick he said no i couldn't go that eye
and then there's the argument of like well if you think the guy's a starter who cares draft him at number four draft him at number 30 it's all the same if you think he's going to be the starter
like yeah there's a little more pressure when you take a guy really high so like i haven't watched south carolina so shitty i haven't been dialed in on sellers
who clearly it's not going that well there.
Nussmeyer, who have watched a decent amount,
I don't know if he's banged up, but he looks not good.
Pavia is an unreal college player.
I don't know if he's an NFL prospect.
Dante Moore, obviously, the Penn State game was awesome,
and then the Indiana game was kind of a comeback to Earth moment.
Again, he doesn't have to come out.
My overall take, and I haven't studied every single guy
and watched every single snap,
I don't see many guys that I would feel comfortable drafting in the top ten.
right now. That doesn't mean like Jackson Dart. I wouldn't have drafted Jackson Dart in the top
10 either. And look at him. He looks like a very promising, like you can find good players in the 20s
in the second, the second, third and fourth round. Rassalbless. Russell Wilson,
Kirk Cousins, Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy, like you can find solid quarterbacks that are almost
undervalued. And I think sometimes you overvalue. So it's like buying a overpriced stock. It's usually
when you get your, you know, your ass handed to you.
And I think that's happening a lot with these quarterbacks.
I heard you mention a couple times with a little disdain in your voice,
that Kevin Stefansky and Brown's GM get passes by the media just for being Ivy League alums.
Does this mean you are an anti-intellectual?
Or is there another reason you distrust them?
By the way, as a Charger fan, I love your take on Brandon Staley.
You know, you're either looking at if you're watching this on YouTube or listening on the audio.
I have multiple degrees.
I have an undergraduate degree.
I have a graduate degree.
My overall take is my degrees are from state schools.
No one cares.
If I was a Syracuse guy or a Northwestern guy or one of these prominent media schools,
I would probably be discussed differently with the cool kids in the media,
not that I even want to rub elbows with these people.
Ultimately, my point is the media values their education really, really highly.
if AI does what a lot of people think it's going to do, it is going to have a dramatic impact
and to me negate a lot of things in academia, especially higher education, right?
Because like, why do I need you?
And I'm telling you right now, I can foresee the future on this one, the media is not going to go quietly on that.
Because that's going to almost, I would say, negatively impact something that's really important to them.
And I just see a lot of these people.
people in traditional media that really value their degree from their school, which I'm jealous of,
like, I went to Cal Poly. I would have a lot of pride if I was like a Florida alum or Ohio State
alum or Texas alum, you know, with my athletic programs. I don't have that. So I guess there's a
jealousy to that aspect for me. But when it comes to the Ivy League, like, they're just viewed as
really smart guys. And I think the media gives passes to people, especially in football, when they
goes, well, he's a smart guy. It's like, yeah, well, he's losing. It's like, well, he's really,
really smart. He must know something that we don't because they value education really highly,
right? It happened with Sam Hinky for years. It's like the process. The process fucking blows.
The best thing they got out of it was this seven-foot guy who's always injured and now always
complains. It's like it did not work. We have to acknowledge that, you know, and I think
Sam Hinky is a great example. He's like, well, he's so smart. He's got it. Maybe he doesn't.
And I see it in football all the time, like when they think you're just a dumb football guy
and you start losing, they destroy you.
But Andrew Barry, who again, I have nothing personal against.
I'm sure he's a nice guy.
I know people that have worked with him that like him.
I know a lot of people that know Stavansky really like the guy.
I think Stavansky's done a good job, good job given the circumstances.
My whole point with their situation is they're 100% treated differently than Trent Balkie would be in their shoes.
Because I've seen Trent Balky lose.
everyone takes a giant dump all over his entire career.
He's like, oh, Andrew Barry, he's having a pretty good draft.
Well, his team blows.
He took two quarterbacks.
Now, if you want to tell me, all this was out of his hands, right?
But he keeps saying, like, no, we did that.
And then the Flacco thing, like, by Tomlin just told you,
he doesn't even feel like they respect the business.
That's what bothers me.
And where I get on board with Tomlin, the Flacco move,
the amount of little respect,
You have two rookie quarterbacks.
Are either of these guys good?
I don't know.
But like Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders just being in a room with Joe Flacco would benefit them.
I don't know.
Flacco's just played in the league for two decades.
Has been around countless Hall of Famers.
Has been a Super Bowl champion.
Has been a guy that's been benched.
Has been a guy that's literally seen it all.
Has been a young player where a lot of people thought was overrated.
Has been a good player that people thought was underrated.
There's nothing that he doesn't check off.
that could really benefit every day Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders being around.
And good organizations would have valued that.
Well, to me, the Browns and their GM value things, which I'm pro stock market.
I like, I enjoy making financial bets on things and viewing them unemotionally.
But I'm talking about companies, not actual individuals on a football team, and that's how I feel he approaches it.
And it was just embarrassing.
And they do a lot of embarrassing things.
and I've given them a pass for the Deshawn Watson thing
because it's like pretty clearly on the owner
even though they're outspoken of like we did it, we did it.
I just think that they get
treated differently than other people
who have the same results that are viewed as just football meatheads.
That's my overall point with the take of the Ivy League thing
because if Andrew Barry was just he had gone to San Diego State,
I don't think the coverage would be the same.
that that is the overall gist of my take on this situation.
I also don't value like, I mean, I was around growing up some multi-million dollar farmers that didn't graduate high school.
So it's like I come from a world where, and listen, again, I got a graduate degree.
So it's like I, my parents pushed education.
I'm not anti-education.
I also think it can be extremely overrated.
And having worked in a field now around a lot of people with trying to,
traditional media backgrounds, I'd say we look at it a little bit differently.
I would say that's fair.
But like I don't besmirch, if that's the correct word, those guys for going to the Ivy League.
But I don't think it's really debatable that they get treated differently.
And specifically the GM, that if we just take another franchise with their record,
they would get absolutely dumped on.
As a Bears fan, I'm not used to getting a lot of media coverage
because there haven't been many bright spots in years past.
However, people are quick to hype up teams like the Chargers and the Packers,
even though they have clear weaknesses.
Obviously, Caleb and Ben are still working things out,
but curious as to how you see the Bears.
Even though we have played great teams,
we are 4 and 2 and the defense is looking great.
I would say the difference is the Chargers have Jim Harbaugh,
who's been winning for,
Almost two decades now in every football team that he ran.
Right.
And I would say the same thing for the Packers.
They've been winning for three decades.
Last year they had a downseason they made the playoffs.
The year before, they won a road playoff game with the same coach and the same quarterback.
So it's like you get the benefit of the doubt.
It's why whenever I see these people that like wish Josh Allen sucked, it's like, when are people going to,
when are people going to criticize his performance last night?
Like, yeah, he had a bad game.
You've been watching him for six years?
He's a fucking dominant player.
Right?
I'd say the same thing for Lamar.
Like, the only way you can criticize Lamar is, like, when he struggles in the playoffs.
Like, I'm not crushing him for a bad regular season game.
Who cares?
Right?
There are certain players that are on a level of, like, Jamar Chase can have a bad regular season game.
It's football.
It happens.
But it doesn't diminish his, like, status in the league.
And other guys, like, on a weekly basis, we're judging Caleb.
Williams. I honestly thought, like, obviously last week their defense was remarkable. They made
Spencer Rattler look like a UFL quarterback. DeAndre Swift does look sweet. I thought Caleb did not
look good. And it's really hard. Now, if your defense's going to be awesome and your running
game is going to be awesome, you can get by with an average quarterback. But I do believe that it's
difficult to just sustain winning. Once you play better teams, right, once you play the Lions and
play the Packers, if Caleb's going to, he was just running around constantly.
It was just like, it was kind of bizarre, but they were kicking ass and they win the game pretty easily.
And no one talks about it.
But it was one thing I saw, it's like, well, it's not like, I would feel a lot better about this team if he looked good operating for Ben.
I just don't think he really has.
Middle God, you hate Caleb Williams.
No, I don't have care about Caleb Williams at all.
I wish he was an awesome player.
I wish all these quarterbacks were awesome players.
I would rather watch good quarterbacks.
I literally watch football for a living than she.
shitty ones. Like, we got to watch Carson Wentz on Thursday night. Not really looking forward to that.
As a cowboy fan, I was wondering your thoughts were on their position over the next two years.
Obviously, their defense is too bad in order to be competitive team. But considering four first
round picks along with the other picks, I think they could have a shot at making a great roster.
Also, I hate Jerry Jones, but he usually does well in the draft historically. Do you think they can
make an NFC championship for the first time since the 90s in the next two or three?
three years. Well, how old is old Dakota Prescott? I'm pretty sure I'm going to guess 33.
Dakota Prescott is 32, just turned 32 this summer. So modern medicine, health, training,
no reason he can't be a really good player at 33, at 34, at 35, at 30, like for the next
three or four years. Look at the 49ers. They transitioned off a bunch of defensive guys,
and they drafted a defensive lineman, a defensive tackle with their first two picks this year.
Both guys play a lot and the defenses look pretty good.
And are they going to be like Micah Parsons, Nick Bosa level players?
Probably not.
But can they be solid starters on a good defense?
Looks like it.
So I think you just approach it like you're going into the draft drafting defensive players,
whether it's the best corner, whether it's the best, you know,
if you can find a Roquan Smith, whether you can find a defensive tackle or a defense.
defensive end, and you just keep picking
defensive players, right? You've invested
heavily in the offense. You've drafted
a bunch of offensive linemen. You
paid the quarterback. You
paid C.D. Lamb. You paid Ferguson.
I would imagine you're going to pay George Pickens.
If they don't,
that would be a pretty big red flag.
And to me, it's just about investing in the
defensive line. If you told me their first two
picks this draft in the first round,
let's say they used them both, pick,
let's say the Cowboys end up going like
8, 8, and 1. And the Green Bay
Backers, you know, are picked 25.
So you get picked 20 and 25.
And they pick two defensive linemen.
I don't think anyone would quibble with that.
But you can't just be like,
I kind of like this, Jeremiah Love.
In fairness, Jeremiah Love would be pretty sweet on their team.
But you've got to take defensive linemen.
You have to.
Question for the next show.
USC fan.
Starting to feel a little discouraged with Lincoln Riley as a coach,
particularly play calling.
Am I right to feel
Like we can get more out of him.
I think at this point in time, he kind of is what it is.
You know, I think you can recruit better.
One thing that he had at Oklahoma was their team was stacked.
They had NFL offensive linemen.
They had NFL running backs.
They had NFL wide receivers.
They had NFL quarterback.
They had NFL tight end.
I mean, some of those teams he coached before he came to USC were, I mean,
offensively were Mark Andrew, C.D. Lamb, Hollywood Brown.
Mixing, P. Rine.
Orlando Brown, I think Creed Humphrey,
Baker Mayfield.
Kyler Murray's the backup on this.
Like he was, like, we got Mikhail Lemon.
Lincoln needs to have about seven of those.
So I think you just got to keep recruiting.
Notre Dame's in a better spot and built up better than Notre Dame right now,
or than USC.
Now, I completely disagree.
You know, coward goes on this rant of this game needs to stop.
watch that game, it's like, no, this game does not need to stop. They need to play it every single
year. Now, I get USC is like, well, we still have to play Oregon, Ohio State, Michigan, Washington.
It's like, they get to pick and choose their own schedule. It's like, well, Notre Dame, let's
just come on to the Big Ten, which feels inevitable as these conferences continue to consolidate.
But watching that game at night in the cold, I'm that's not really going to be a Lincoln's
deal, right? I mean, I would say most of the time, and listen, part of playing in the Big Ten,
you're going to play in some games in October and November on the road at night.
Like it might not be the greatest weather.
I would say, you know, Lincoln Riley's teams are kind of built for sunshine and scoring some points when it's going perfectly well.
But does he know defense well enough?
He has a GM that he hired from Notre Dame.
I actually just started following him on Instagram like last week.
Chad Bowden, I think his name is.
Really, I read this LA Times article.
I sent him a DM.
I'm like, you know, I read this article.
your story's pretty cool.
Just how he kind of came up at Cincinnati under Freeman, Notre Dame,
how most people didn't think the GM would leave,
and all of a sudden he tells him, like, I'm going to USC.
I think he's originally from L.A.
His dad is, I think, former GM, I think of the Cincinnati Reds,
grew up with the Collinsworth family.
It's a cool story.
And clearly, I mean, really, some of the quotes from the Notre Dame coaching staff,
like really, really highly thought of.
And that's the one thing that's different now in college football.
Like Lincoln, you coach the team.
Like, I just came from Notre Dame.
Like, let me pick some of the players.
You know, let me help isolate.
These are the type guys we need.
Because sometimes coaches, let's face it,
like most guys aren't Nick Sabin.
Most guys aren't Urban Meyer.
A lot of coaches are bad evaluators.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this is a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name,
Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it
one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad,
Hey Jonas and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.

Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay.
Jen should win.
I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted.
She's an outsider to win the French for me.
And she likes Clay.
Listen, Lena Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now.

Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports.
based on what McDaniel said at his last presser
basically throwing Tua under the bus for being so bad
where's the GM and the owner not stepping in on the state of affairs for the organization
for something like this
if they're not going to let McDaniel go yet there's
yet that's fair but shouldn't someone say something to address this dumpster fire
hot take why do we need to address every dumpster fire
you know I don't quite get it
Like, sometimes things go bad, right, in sports.
And you see it in college football all the time.
It's like, I didn't need Florida State's AD or president or Wisconsin's AD or president
to give me a statement if you're not going to do anything.
Like, yeah, we get it.
You suck.
They're always like, this standard is not good enough, but we're still evaluating.
Like, yeah, no shit.
So are we all.
Like, why do we need these statements?
For optics?
There's not a word that I hate more than optics.
I like results.
I like reality.
To post something like Stephen Ross comes out with a statement.
What's he going to say?
If you're not firing anybody, no one gives a shit.
So yeah, you just kind of let this situation go.
One thing I was, maybe I'll talk about tomorrow, maybe I won't, is they must have
owners meetings going on right now because I saw Woody Johnson gave, gave, he was being interviewed
and said, like basically, God.
Aaron Glenn's back of saying, well, what's he supposed to do?
Our quarterback can't complete a pass.
And literally everyone on social media, everyone in the media universally is like,
God, Fields sucks.
This guy is one of the worst quarterbacks I've ever seen.
Woody Johnson then says the same thing and everyone's like, asshole, you can't say that.
Why not?
What's he supposed to say?
You know, Justin Fields is coming along.
No, he feels like they just robbed us.
Now, if you want to say, hey, Woody, you just let the coach and GM give him that contract.
That's insane.
My mother could have told you like, yeah,
struggles from the pocket, not a great thrower.
Just got bench for Russell Wilson,
who's like on Twitter talking shit about Sean Payton.
It's like Russell,
listen, I'm not saying Sean Payton has the highest approval rating with everybody,
but you definitely don't.
Like, I just let buy guns be by guns.
You got paid to leave.
You guys hate each other.
He definitely hates you.
You know, you pretend that you love everybody.
But I just like, it's not necessary.
and I would say the same thing about these statements.
Like, I just don't know what Stephen Ross or the GM is going to say.
There's literally nothing they can say to make anything better unless they say,
we're going to fire Mike and at the end of the season we're going to cut to a.
Then people would be happy, but they're not going to say that.
A few weeks ago, you mentioned taking one of those blood food allergy tests,
was wondering if something they found was useful and you would recommend doing.
It's a little overwhelming, I would say.
I found out I'm lactose, you know, I can't have dairy.
I'm not supposed to have dairy.
And gluten, not ideal for me.
So it's like, wait, literally everything I eat.
Now, listen, like as you get older, you can try to avoid the carbs.
But I think you kind of got to be realistic about it.
Now, some of them, it's like, I'm severely allergic to shallots.
You know, it's like probably should pick and choose when I eat avocado, stuff like that.
but just yeah you should probably not eat dairy or gluten uh that that's can be a little overwhelming
uh it's like well so i don't get to put cheese on anything i don't i don't put sour cream on my
chipole bowls anymore but it also like yeah i got a milk and i would say dairy products has
always been a little hit or miss i would say with my stomach but the uh the gluten one that's
that hits deep man i i love a i love a good bagel sandwich uh i love pizza
I love pasta, but it's like I got to choose.
Do I want to be a fat ass, inflamed, swollen, you know,
a guy with low energy, or do I want to be vibrant and skinny?
So we'll see if just starting this journey.
I don't know how it's going to go.
But that was, yeah, it's a lot.
I'll tell you that much.
It's no secret that you're not a fan of the Falcons.
But what is it about them that makes you hate them?
To me, they're no different than any middling franchise.
It's funny.
It's like, I promise you this.
I don't hate anybody.
I really don't.
My life's too good to hate.
I remove that from my go-to emotions.
It's a waste of my energy.
And I don't know any of these people personally.
Now, I would say my take on the Falcons is twofold.
I think their owners kind of douchey.
And not because of like hate rich people.
This is pro-capitalism show here.
So good for him.
I'm glad that he had successful business career.
We celebrate that here.
Honestly, I admire it.
But, like, put himself in the Hall of Fame last year.
Whenever he talks, this is about him.
He's a little much for me.
Now, you could argue a lot of owners are like that.
True.
I do think they carry themselves.
Like, they're a little more successful than not.
And I do think two years ago when they got rid of Arthur Smith and what's his name,
his president that's also, like, runs his will.
I can't even think of his name now.
And obviously the GM, you know, clearly they made the right decision by not hiring Bill Belichick.
But they also acted like they knew what they were doing and it was all Arthur Smith's fault.
Where, again, I don't know Arthur Smith personally either.
One night I had some beers with them years ago at the combine.
But any time that like an organization just points the finger at one person and the people picking the players and kind of running the organization were like,
it's that idiot, not me.
and then that guy leaves and the same shit just continues to happen.
It's like, no, you guys are kind of fraudulent.
And listen, this league can, there's so much money in the line.
Everyone wants to get their hand in the piggy bank.
But I just, something about it.
I'm with you.
They are not, like, that bad.
They're not the jets or the Raiders.
Their stadium's cool.
But, like, and listen, Rahim Morris is universally liked by everyone that I respect.
in the business from the Shanahan tree.
I mean, Sean McVey and Kyle Shanahan love the guy.
So, like, I have nothing against him.
But I think we have to acknowledge, like,
you acted like Arthur Smith was an idiot,
hired this guy, and it's been a debacle.
I mean, there was, I saw the clip,
I'm sure you did too, if you're a Falcon fan,
of him being asked after the game
about the 10 men on the field on the big third down.
I mean, that's, this is,
this isn't four games into his career.
I mean, he's been there now a year and a half.
it's pretty embarrassing.
I just think they're, the way they carry themselves and talk and the outcome are just two different operations.
You know?
And I feel like they tried to not get treated like some of these other organizations that lose a lot.
And it sure feels like since Matt Ryan fell off a cliff, they've been losing a lot.
And kind of some embarrassing losses.
I mean, this year, think about it.
They just lost to the 49ers with their second stringers.
and they've gotten blown out by the Carolina Panthers.
I just have a hard time, I think sometimes, in the football business
when, like, no one ever wants to take responsibility.
They always want to point the finger at someone else.
I'm talking more like in the front office than, you know, coaches will backstab each other too.
But if you're the offensive coordinator, your offense sucks, it's hard to hide, right?
But with the GM, it's like, well, he wanted that player, he wanted that quarterback.
You know, I didn't hire the coach.
The GM wanted them.
if I'm the president
I just think that happens
a lot
and the Bruce Allen types
who was with Washington forever
I'm trying to think
the Atlanta
Falcons president
why can't I get his name
great
and that's not who I'm looking for
Rich McKay
there's just any
any organization that has the Rich McKay
types
I'm just out on
and I don't take that seriously
because he wants
credit. If it went well, he'd be front and center.
But when it doesn't go well, like, I just run the Arthur Smith,
the billion dollar will. I'm just here to kind of support everybody.
The Kevin Warren types.
It's like, you guys are just, I can't stand people like that.
When I was with the Eagles, it was Joe Banner.
It's like they want the credit, but when shit goes bad,
they want to stab everyone in the back.
There's the league, and honestly, big business is full of those type people.
It's like they don't own it
They're not really in charge
But they run like a power playing role
I would always red flag
Organizations with those human beings
As a Ravens fan
Wouldn't it be a blessing in disguise
If the Ravens were truly to be
This year's team from hell
What does going 9 and 8 or 10 and 7
And beating up on slump busters
And losing in the divisional championship round do
I get it
It's a loser mindset to tank
for the rest of the year, but you already are 1 in 5,
and making the playoffs would just be Lamar saving Harbaugh's ass for a second time.
Not to mention that you would not have a top pick in each of the rounds
in a stacked edge class.
And we have had a revolving door of geriatric players on the edge DN position since Suggs left.
It also gives you a chance to move off some of these big contracts,
like Linderbaum and some other young players due to be paid soon.
to me it's like in the next couple weeks.
If you rattle off a couple victories and look completely different,
it's football you should try.
To me, if you like, if the Bears beat you coming off a buy, it's over.
And it makes way more sense to be a four or five win team
and have the 10th pick than it does to end up with eight or nine wins.
So I'm completely with you.
The hardball thing, it's like, let's just play it out.
You win five games this year.
Because it's like, oh, Lamar's coming back.
In theory, I mean, didn't you.
he missed practice yesterday, but
Lamar was there when they were losing.
The defense was horrendous.
I mean, their issues are,
Lamar was already kind of running around
trying to make things happen, and it didn't matter.
They were getting blown out.
I think through four games, didn't they have, like,
one of the highest scoring defenses in the history of the league?
I think they gave up more points through four or five games
than anyone in the league history.
So I have a hard time seeing them.
So the six games, so it would be a left.
So to get to 10 wins, you'd have to go 10 and 1.
Or I guess that'd be 11 wins.
You'd have to go 9 and 2.
I don't know.
I don't see that.
That'd be go 10 and 7.
To go 9 and 8, you'd have to go 8 and 3.
The team we saw is going to go 8 and 3.
Now, I think we talk about them like what they've been,
but what they've been is not what we saw this year.
I'm with you.
I'm anti-tanking.
but once you start like two and eight
and you have like your quarterback
yeah I don't think it's the worst thing to lose some games
to get a higher pick
especially like historically you guys are drafted well
and you never draft high
imagine if you had like the seventh overall pick
what's going on John love the pot
was wondering if you could break down the team
behind you a bit
and if you're looking to possibly expand
we got a big team
we got a great team
we got a lot of people
on this on the volume
very lucky
to have a lot of people
this I know a lot of you just hear
or see me but
all I do is
talk into a microphone
you know it starts with
we've had a couple main producers
over the years James
who actually just officially left
because he's on Joe
and Jada he lives in Jersey
and that that podcast is like a rocket ship
I was actually with him
in New York so for a long
time he did all the video and now Shane
who has been with us I don't know
feels like a year it might be less than that
at least with with my show specifically
so anything that you see video wise
of like our live streams
are the ads that are you know
implemented in there to me just telling me
you know kind of running the
business behind the scenes of when ads need to be read
this is this week
hey, we need to do this.
You know, I'm very dependent on those people to feed me information.
And then they're tied in with like Josh, I call him Goldie, who is kind of like, I think
his term is technically the GM.
Like he runs Collins podcast and then he oversees a couple other ones.
So it's like kind of all under his umbrella.
And we just kind of, now we're kind of a self-sufficient operation here.
but from James to now Shane to Adam who runs the audio who makes me sound better.
Any echo in my room, he's loading audio for countless different, you know, different podcasts on the network.
But also like, you know, I screw up.
There are things that maybe if someone ring the doorbell and I leave, like things that get edited out that I don't have to mess with.
So from an editing standpoint, I do nothing.
You know, I'm very dependent on Adam and Shane,
and then, you know, Jackson and, you know, intern Jackson,
and Noah, who you don't know,
but I think I've talked about him before.
He was the one feeding me that Baker Mayfield 25 to 1 for MVP.
You got Jackson playing football at Montana, a little walk-on status,
slow white, I think slot receiver, maybe try to play outside.
you know it's like six five shooting guard i think he played it like du cane
so we get some athletes behind the scene and they just crush it on the social media stuff
so listen i i've been in this podcast business and i tried to do a lot of this stuff myself
when i had a previous show with my buddy guy and it's it's hard and it's impossible and i am
very very lucky that this operation you know rand but logan kind of runs the
the content aspect for all the volume,
but has introduced me to these guys and got them on my team.
It's been good for everybody, and we've got a cool group.
And just, again, they just like sports, which helps.
So it's like, I've been very, I've been very fortunate to work with normal, good, talented people.
Because, again, I could talk into a mic seven hours a day.
and if I wasn't associated with Colin the volume
you wouldn't know I'd existed
but from the social clips
to the videos to the audio
getting cut and loaded
so when you get in your car now
at 7 a.m. in New York
and you're commuting
I had nothing to do with that
so I can't
I mean I hope they know how much
I appreciate everything they're doing
behind the scenes
and how talented and good
all these guys are because
they're fucking ass kickers
I know you talk about this often,
but do you think any sources or people
that can explain how these GMs get taken to school by agents?
In what world would Tua Lawrence, Kyler Purdy,
all worth the contracts they were given?
You always say, who are you bidding against?
But seriously, who are they bidding against?
How does this happen?
It seems like an absolute malpractice
that this is setting franchises back constantly.
Is it agents trying to get their breaks
or trying to get their beaks wet?
even if it is. How are the GMs and owners willingly letting this happen? It makes zero logical sense.
Even Dak, who is a good quarterback? Is he worth $60 million a year? I get having an average
quarterback is better than nothing. Dak actually is playing pretty good right now. I mean, he looks like
one of the best quarterbacks in the league. I don't know, man. I think you would really have to
sit down with like, you know, John Lynch, Kyle Shanahan, Trent Balky.
some of these guys over cocktails.
And because again, we can all guess.
Like, why did you give Trevor Lawrence $200 million?
Like, I like Brock Purdy a lot.
I actually think he took a relatively team friendly deal based on the other deals.
But it's like, guys, he's been the starter for two and a half years.
Like, couldn't we just play it out again?
Well, then franchise take, well, it's like, let's just keep proving it.
That's the way most of us work.
It's like, well, he's a quarterback.
Well, is he Maholums or Josh Allen and Lamar?
No.
Then let's just let it play out.
And I'm not trying, like,
Purdy had proven that he can win,
but then last year they had a bunch of injuries,
and they won six games,
and he didn't play that well down the stretch.
And now he's injured, the team's winning.
So it's like, and I'm not,
I'm more pro-Purdy than I am Trevor Lawrence,
Kyler, or Tua.
But my first reaction will always be is like,
what's the rush?
Why are we rushing?
Like, I get the Packers giving Micah Parsons
$188 million.
Totally.
I get the Cowboys giving CD Lamb or Jamar Chase $200 million.
Totally get it.
Right?
But if like I have a guy that's not elite at his job,
and that's also the problem, like I'll use Kyle as an example.
Kyle views Brock Purdy like an elite.
Like Kyle would tell you he's every bit as good,
or I can be every bit as good with him as like Patrick Mahomes is with Andy Reed.
Even if that's like not actually true,
I generally believe that he believes that.
So it's like, yeah, I'll give my guy a max amount of money.
But then you see Sam Darnold, who makes, got like $55 million guaranteed.
I mean, just watch at me.
It looks like one of the better quarterbacks in the league.
It's like, I can get that guy for a third of the price when they just want that guy.
I will say this.
If I was a quarterback and my career had hit some hard times
and I was going to be a quote-unquote backup,
I would call, the first people I would call would be the 49ers.
because they are resurrecting careers.
Sam Darnold, Mac Jones,
they created Brock Purdy's career.
I mean, Kyle Shannon had to be my first call.
I want in.
That's what I would say.
If Mac Jones's biggest regret,
he signed a two-year contract.
Imagine if Mac Jones had just signed a one-year contract.
What would he get this off-season?
Like one year, 20 million bucks?
Probably.
He would definitely get the most amount of money for a bridge quarterback.
How much of the Packers just,
looking weird on offense is on the floor just seems like Green Bay is not getting consistent
results on offense. LaFleur just seems like he coaches not to lose. I don't know. I mean, I don't
get why there's like a lack of trust in Jordan Love and you can argue that he makes
some poor decisions every once a while. You know, Jacobs definitely doesn't feel quite as
dominant this year as he did last year. If I remember correctly, didn't he start slow last year too?
I don't know.
Something just, you watch the Packers, hard for me to put my finger on.
Again, I liked them to, I got a bet on them to win the NFC.
I got multiple bets on them that aren't going to hit because they're also tied to the Texans to win the division,
which I don't even feel that great about, but you watch them, something's just a little off.
Something's just a little off.
You know, looking at Jacobs right now, he's had a couple 80-yard games.
Yeah, he said 380-yard games.
Got eight touchdowns this year
He actually scoring a lot of touchdowns
But shit he had 15 last year
He's been a monster for the Packers actually
In
Between last year and this year
These are just rushing touchdowns
He has 23 rushing touchdowns
I mean if I get 30 touchdowns from a guy
Like Jacobs ain't their problem
I don't know
It's a great question
I don't
You know better than me
I can't put my finger on the Packers
befuddled.

Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to a...
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, a wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports.
I got to get your perspective on this.
Would the openings at Penn State and Florida be considered better opportunities for Lane Kiffin or should you stay at Ole Miss?
I think Lane Kiffin's a big Florida guy, by all accounts.
I've listened to a lot of college football people talk about the podcast.
I think he's got a house there.
Obviously his dad is synonymous with a state, Tampa 2 defense, coach there forever.
Lane resurrected his career, I would say, post-Alabama as a head coach at, was it NAU?
I get some of those schools.
N-I-U, Northern
FAU, I guess it wouldn't be
N-A-U, Florida Atlantic University.
Whatever school at
coached at, I just think
that, you know,
there is, and I said this before,
you're going to find out
there is just a prestige
coaching at certain jobs.
But one thing I noticed
last weekend,
the SEC has the best home environments.
I mean, Auburn is in shambling,
They have had back-to-back night games that looked as good as any football environment there is.
Ryan Grubb, the Bama offensive coordinator, said, I've been coaching for a long time.
I've won division two national champions, one AA national championships.
I've coached in the national championship game at Washington.
I've played in massive games against Oregon.
He's like, that was the best atmosphere I've ever seen by a country mile.
Vanderbilt, which used to be an all.
ran that game against LSU was rocking and did Georgia Ole Miss game old miss
stadium I mean these these atmospheres are pretty sweet so it's like yeah Florida's an
awesome atmosphere but Lane plays in the sweet place so I think it's more about like
at this point in time Lane's super rich so it's it's not like he already makes 10 million
dollars a year whether they give him 50 80 million dollars he's already like not worrying about
money so it's less about money and more like would you rather live in games
Gainesville than live in in Oxford, Mississippi.
Does he think that the proximity, it's closer for him to recruit some top players?
Does that even matter now?
And, like, ultimately, does he want the challenge?
Like, has he done everything humanly possible he can do at Ole Miss?
I don't believe Penn State makes much sense for him because he's a rock star in the SEC.
And Lane Kiffin feels like an SEC guy.
and you saw that interaction he had pregame and postgame with Kirby.
I think he's found his people.
And I think that's really important in life, finding your people.
I feel very, I've lived in a lot of places.
Spent a lot of time obviously born, raised in California,
but I've lived for a couple years in Philadelphia.
I live for six months in Kansas City.
I've lived in, you know, from the Bay Area to Fresno to, you know,
the coast in San Luis Obispo.
Like I've been around a lot of different types.
of people because everywhere you live
people are wired a little bit different right we're all
quote unquote Americans but like living in
Florida is a lot different than living in Seattle than living in New York
City and I think once you find like these are my type of like I
I just vibe with Arizona it's just it's just my vibe
it works like I fucking belong here
and I think that really matters when you are
professionally ambitious so it's like
because he still has a lot to
accomplish that.
Ole Miss, if these are his people and he fits in well and he's openly talked about
how important coaching there has been to his life, then, yeah, stay.
But if you feel that you're more Florida than you are in Mississippi, then go.
I think it's about much more personal stuff than it is professionally.
Because it's like, Ole Miss pays a ton.
Ole Miss has, I think they had one of the highest payrolls in the country last year
with their roster.
So it's not like they won't pay for the players.
He can obviously pay coaches.
He plays against the best teams.
Georgia, Bama, LSU.
Like, he's playing them all every year.
So it's not like he needs to go to Florida to play better competition.
It's just about like, do you want to live somewhere different?
I really think it's that simple.
Because at this point in time, 10 years ago, it's a no-brainer.
Now it might not be.
To me, Penn State makes no sense for Lane Kiffin.
Wouldn't touch that job with a 10-foot pole.
With quarterbacks getting second and third chances,
where can Mack Jones be traded to with a chance to be a starter next year?
I just don't think the 49ers can't afford to trade them.
I mean, their starting quarterback now has had a major shoulder injury,
or I guess elbow injury, that they were lucky it was the NFC championship game,
or if that happens during the season, would it cost him the year.
He got banged up, was it last year?
I forget the exact injury off top of my head,
and obviously now he can't play in games.
Kyle Shanahan just said yesterday, like he ain't playing this.
week. So Mac Jones, like, part of having life insurance plan, especially those of us, if you're
listening with children, like, who knows? What if I cross the street and a truck hits me and I die?
You never know. You think the 49ers plan when they gave Brock Purdy all that money for Brock Purdy
to miss all these games? Of course not. But they had a contingency plan. And that's, was their
insurance, was Mac Jones? So, and then he has a bunch of success. The other thing is, I think it's
contract was like two years $7 million total.
I think Mac Jones is borderline untradable for this team.
Resurgence of quarterbacks like Daniel Jones and Mack Jones and the longer term
rebounds from guys like Baker and Sam.
Do you think teams might start taking more chances on formally quote unquote
bus quarterbacks instead of spending draft capital on rookies?
Since 2018, roughly a third of the quarterbacks, once labeled bus, have managed to turn
their careers around. Could smart, well-run teams start viewing that as a more efficient or
higher probability move than drafting a first quarterback? I think it's already happening. Look at all
these quarterbacks that end up on different teams. They've all been given other shots. Zach Wilson,
Trey Lance, Justin Fields, Mack Jones, Sam Donald, Baker Mayfield. They bounced around to other
teams before they ended up where they're at now. So the thing when you're drafted high, you're
always given constant opportunities.
I think Sam Darnold, you know, after being a backup for the Niners, was given one year's
$10 million, based on not much.
Now, he's changed the course of his career in Minnesota, but like, you could argue like,
wait, you're giving him $10 million for what?
But that's because he was a high draft pick.
You get more opportunities.
You know, the NFL is a meritocracy.
That is true, right?
Once training camp starts, once the game start, you can be the 30th pick.
If the undrafted free agent is out playing you, he is going to start and you are not.
Period, point blank, end of story.
But if that undrafted free agent plays and he sucks,
he is not going to get the same amount of opportunities around the league as the second or first rounder.
If he sucks.
Because you can cut that guy and, I mean, you see it with receivers all the time.
Like Dante Pettis, 49ers drafted high and he's been on like 17 since.
if Dante Pettis had been an undrafted free agent
instead of a guy drafted in the second round,
he's not getting the same amount of opportunities.
So I think that
I think that's always been the case.
It's pretty rare for a guy drafted really high
to not get, I mean, you've got to be an all-time disaster
for no one to touch you.
When do we start talking about Matt Stafford as the MVP?
17 touchdowns, two interceptions, 2,000 yards,
no puka, mediocre run game.
I'm talking about him.
He's fucking awesome.
The NFC West.
We got the little overachieving Niners.
We got Seattle that looks incredible on defense.
JSN and Sam Darnold and the running backs.
Charbonnet, Kenneth Walker.
I mean, they got a lot of talent.
John Snyder's good at his job.
And the Rams, that defense looks good.
Stafford looks good.
Shocker, Devante Adams is good.
It's like Keenan Allen, Devante Adams.
You give those guys to good quarterbacks are going to be good.
I don't care that they're slow.
No, Keenan's slower in Devante, but like, those guys are pros.
You know, those guys are good.
This Texan's offense since Watson left Houston has left a lot to be desired.
I still believe CJ is a Super Bowl level quarterback,
but they need to get him a good O.C.
If Mike McDaniel becomes available, would you hire him for $10 million a year?
No, $10 million a year?
10? I don't think Mike's making 10 now.
I would hire him, I guess.
But I think one thing Casario needs to do,
and we actually talked about this last night after we got done the recording,
is I will defend them a little bit.
They made a bold move, right?
I do think, I don't know this for a fact,
but it was kind of clear.
The owner was on them about drafting a quarterback.
So they drafted CJ, which immediately looked like a good pick.
But then they really wanted Will Anderson, so they traded from 12 up to 3.
So they went CJ Stroud, Will Anderson back to back.
Well, we looked it up.
They traded pick 12, pick 33, and the following year's first round pick to do that.
So you're watching the Texans, you're like, God, it feels like they're missing a couple of players.
Well, yeah, they are.
Because they gave up a first round pick and picked 33, that all of a sudden, that could be a guard and a running back.
All of a sudden, that could be some unreal tight end and attack.
But that guy doesn't exist because they traded it away to get Will Anderson, who's a badass.
But part of the acquisition price to get Will Anderson was losing out on other players.
And their team has serious holes.
And that kind of comes with the territory of making a trade like that.
So I just think Casario's got to find a way to, like, improve the offensive personnel and the offensive line specifically.
Cole Popovich, I was thinking about this last night, who is their offensive line?
line coach. My first year at Fresno State in 2008, he was the right guard. And he got,
we played Rutgers week one, and they had like the McCordy twins, Kenny Britt, they were
really good. We beat him, no big deal. He got hurt in that game and his career just ended. He might
have got hurt maybe in training camp. I'm pretty sure he played week one. But the year before,
Ryan Wendell, who's the Rams coach, offensive line coach, and Cole Popovich, who's the Houston
Texans coach, were the garden center for Fresas State team. I think.
won nine or ten games.
I was thinking, like, how many college teams in the last 20 years
have two of their five starting offensive linemen
that are offensive line coaches in the NFL?
Pretty awesome accomplishment for Pat Hill,
who's also an offensive line guy.
Just a tidbit that no one might care about beside me.
Born and raised in Indy,
we all know the quarterback's situation since Luck retired
and the carousel seemed endless.
With the passing of J.J., or Jim Ursay,
not J.J.
His badass daughters taking the reins,
and the resurgence of Indiana Jones
and Jonathan Taylor
blah blah blah
She's like reading off all the sweet things
With Shane from Philly
and Lou from Sincey
Am I completely insane
to think the Colts could be a perfect place
for A.J. Brown and Trey Hendrickson
to join the squad for a Super Bowl push
so basically trade your first round pick for A.J. Brown
and your second round pick for Trey?
I think that's a little ambitious
but would I do that if I was Chris Bauer 100%.
I do think that the Eagles are in a spot where I just think you can't give away, AJ Brown.
He's too good.
You just kind of deal with him posting some weird stuff about Jalen.
It just kind of is what it is.
But, yeah, I don't know.
I don't think he's going to get traded.
Trey, the Bengals lose a couple games for sure could get traded.
When does Howie ever trade someone sweet?
He'll trade for someone sweet.
But I have a hard time.
Like, AJ Brown clearly is one of the best players in the league.
You just see when he turns it on.
Now, you could argue it's a little hit or miss,
but they're clearly not as good.
You know, the Eagles mindset is to,
the Bengals, obviously, in a different place.
But the Eagles, like,
why can't we just be back in the NFC championship game?
And then we're 60 minutes away from the Super Bowl.
Look at our team.
No, it's not guaranteed, but trading A.J. Brown,
even for a first round pick,
makes us that less likely to happen.
I'd rather trade him in the offseason
for like a second and a fourth,
then do it during the season.
Because even if he's mad,
what's, he's gonna loaf?
He still plays hard.
What's up with these play callers
calling all these double passes?
After seeing the failed ones from USC in the Seattle Seahawks game,
it got me thinking.
I don't think I've seen a successful double pass in four years.
You know, when you spend 15, 20 hours a day,
Monday through Thursday,
and even Friday's probably.
probably a 13 hour day.
Saturday, if you're traveling's a long day.
You spend a lot of time thinking.
And they say paralysis by analysis, analysis by paralysis,
screwing that statement up.
But whatever, just overthinking,
like sometimes just idle time and just, you know,
the creative mind can work to your benefit and also can hurt you.
You know, like the Chiefs,
did you see the play that went viral of them running that,
like, kind of diamond formation
where they hand to one of the upbacks,
who's on, I think, to the left of Mahomes,
and Mahomes is pretending to try to get them to jump off sides
and start screaming like,
fuck, this never works.
And clearly he was doing that to screw them up.
Like, there's a fine line between doing, like,
that's pretty genius.
And they got some downtime.
They're probably BSing on the practice.
field, I don't know whose idea that was, but like, and then the double pass when you're just
driving easily down the field. And I think a lot of the double pass comes with, one football can be
pretty, what's the best way to describe it, monotonous, can be taxing on a daily basis of just
doing the same things over and over, right? You show up early, you film study, you work out,
you breakfast, you practice, you go to meetings, you walk through,
you rehab.
It's just the same thing over
and then just trying to get to the game
and then you do it all again.
And part of keeping guys engaged
is doing fun shit.
Like Coach Reed is really good at that.
Like that Mahomes moment,
like that helps guys stay locked in.
Like how are you supposed to?
Like I understand Mahomes is an ambitious,
like, you know, an achiever, right?
But still, he's human being.
28, 29, 30 years old,
got a couple kids, super rich,
they've already won a bunch.
Like, just doing the same thing
over and over at practice,
like you can lose your focus.
And the easiest way to keep guys engaged
just like bust out a trick play
every once in a while in practice.
Well, you can't just run in practice over and over.
Eventually you want to run in the games.
So I can imagine
when that play call comes in a game,
they all probably light up in the huddle.
Now, when you throw it to the other team,
it's obviously a disaster,
but I do kind of get it.
you know part of
I don't know exactly the rules
we're going to have for I'd be a pretty
big hypocrite you know about having a
very strict diet for my
unborn children
but like you can't just say
you never get to eat ice cream in your entire life
like that's not really a healthy way to approach it
but you also can't give them ice cream for breakfast
but every once in a while you got to let them have an ice cream go
and I think that's kind of like
trick place
obviously when they work you look like a genius
but you can't just never run them.
Especially good teams.
I mean, that just helps people stay engaged.
Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, news, huge news?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to our first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about.
what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it
one of the early names of our band
before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast
where people could call in and say,
Hey Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad,
Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports.
How come Sean Payton isn't taking more heat for his play calling?
It's either screens or deep balls, while Bo is definitely struggled with balls 20 plus
yards down the field.
I feel like he's a good thrower 10 to 20 yard routes.
Totally agree.
I feel like when they get him on the run and he has like crossing routes,
like if he's going to his right and one of the wide receivers is basically paralleling him,
you know, if he's five yards behind the line of scrimmage and that guy's 10 to 15 yards past the line of scrimmage following him,
he's good on the run making those throws.
I mean, he made a bunch in that game against the Giants in the fourth quarter.
But just like having him drop back and throw some go routes or deep breaking routes is clearly not been working.
and it feels like they are running them
and maybe it feels they're doing it more
because they miss it so often.
It's actually not that high of a number,
but I don't understand why they don't utilize his legs
way more often.
Okay, do you think the 2020 draft happened again?
Jordan Love would be taken ahead of Herbert and Jalen Hertz.
Love is won in the playoffs and played in more games than Herbert,
and I think that it's fair to say he's more physically gifted than Hertz.
The 20 draft.
Burrow, Tua, Herbert, Love, Hertz.
Well, I think if you don't factor in injuries,
Burroughs a lock to go one.
I think if you're doing it today and you're factoring in injuries,
Burroughs pretty risky.
I mean, he's had major injuries, major injuries.
So to me, people are going to think I'm nuts,
but I think there would be a big contingent in the NFL that would take Herbert.
Again, based on the day, the information we have on the injuries.
Tua clearly is going last.
You know, I think the Shanahan guys,
like Hertz would not look good in the Packers' offense.
Hertz would not be good for Kyle Shanahan.
It would not, you couldn't function.
Hertz would not operate in Baker Mayfield's offense.
So you have to kind of build the offense specifically for Jalen.
So I think it would be very dependent on the coach.
I think Jalen, or excuse me, Jordan, in theory,
and again, I'm not like anointing him some, the greatest thing since sliced bread.
He can be very hit or miss.
But he's a little more less scheme dependent.
You know, Jalen, you have to have a pretty clear plan of attack.
I would say I would even put Tua on this list.
You know, I think all four of those guys, Burrow, Herbert, Love, Hertz would go, I mean, one through four.
I, Tua probably goes in like the fourth round.
It's crazy how bad he looks.
Jeez.
Lions fan
What is wrong with our offense?
The O line is good at times
But we can't move the ball consistently when it matters
You have young
You have a new center and new guard
One's a rookie
I mean
It's just part of the deal
I mean
Sewell Decker
Excellent players
Your skill guys are excellent
Like
I'd be pretty bullish in the Lions
I wouldn't be that worried about the offense
With the Chiefs now
Surprising back to normal
Lamar injured, the Bill's secondary week, the charges banged up,
the Broncos not playing well, and Joe Burrow out, etc.
Everyone else implodes.
They still get the one seed by home field and get a weak first round,
all leading up to the AFC championship and Arrowhead,
no one really good enough on defense to stop them.
With that, feeling like it's inevitable,
does it take the excitement out of the regular season for you?
It does for me.
It almost makes an AFC regular season game pointless.
I think if you got Andy Reid and Spags,
and Veach on the phone right now, they'd say, listen, that's easy to say out loud.
All the shit's hard.
Some of these games we have won against Buffalo, we easily could have lost.
Even the game that, you know, we kind of embarrassed Lamar.
Wasn't the final score 17 to 10 when they beat them?
It's not like they're winning these games 45 to 7.
So it's football.
You're one weird bounce away from being down 10-0.
I mean, the Chiefs even remember the first year they won the Super Bowl when they
had the crazy comebacks against Tennessee.
Was it Cincinnati?
I forget who.
They were down.
It was Houston.
It was like Houston then Tennessee.
Or Tennessee than Houston, whatever the setup was.
It's football.
I don't think it's going to be that easy.
I hear what you're saying.
Because I told Maria this the other day.
I'm like, the cheese are going to be back in the Super Bowl.
I don't want it.
I'm like, well, Randy Reid beach people.
Like we were rooting for her.
She's like, no, I'm not.
I've seen enough.
I'm like, well, I am, because I appreciate them.
I mean, if they get back to the Super Bowl, that is an incredible accomplishment.
It really is.
And I've always been, I obviously know these guys personally, but even the Patriots,
like I didn't know Belichick or Tom, but I did appreciate like how dominant they were
because how hard it is to do that.
This isn't the Dodgers that have $700 million player, $400 million player,
$300 million pitchers, like this isn't that.
Former MVP first baseman.
Muncie who's sweet
Should the Titans hire Belichick
As the head coach and Mike McDonald's the offensive coordinator
Find a decent personnel guy and go from there?
No
That's the problem with the Titans
Is they already got the personnel guys
Two of them
Brinkard and in Borgonzi
So Belichick
Belich's NFL career is over
Like he's even if he got North Carolina
Turned around a couple years
By then he's 75-76 years
old. It's pretty
crazy. Belichick's never coached in the NFL again.
I guess it's not as crazy
saying that right now, October 21st,
2025, based on what we've seen in North Carolina.
Though I do think the Pablo Torre
video of her talking
much more
nothing burger than it is a story.
Like, yeah, she's crazy, we know.
What do you think she's going to sound like?
Like, I just found that
again, I am not against salacious, crazy stories of, like the video of Belichick coming out,
which looking back might have been her house, shirtless.
Like, I'm not against content like that.
But I did feel a little uneasy watching Belichick miced up with her talking about, like,
stupid sayings relative to football.
It's like, who cares?
This is so stupid.
We get it.
Someone with Underdog Fantasy hated or leaked this out, but I just don't, does this, what does this change?
What does this do?
I even thought like, oh, Michael Lombardi goes to Saudi Arabia.
You mean like everyone else?
Like literally everyone is trying to get balls deep in their trillions of dollars.
He ain't like, is that a weird story?
Maybe it would have been a weird story 20 years ago, but in 2025, like isn't the Big Ten sniffing around their money too?
Isn't everyone?
I mean, every single sport?
I just think sometimes with those two guys specifically,
it's got a little Mike McDaniel feel.
Like, everyone's just trying to shit on them.
And obviously Pablo's getting people to feed him shit,
but just watching that video, I went, is there more to this?
Is there, should I be watching this video?
Like, do I feel a little icky?
Yeah, I kind of do.
Because I also think it's kind of stupid.
Is Fernando Mendoza top 10 draft pick?
The algorithm first put me on,
your feed, and now I'm a weekly watcher.
I like this guy.
I text a couple people a couple weeks ago, and they said no.
But now relative to the class, I think there's a pretty good chance.
If he's going to be the top quarterback, we know top quarterbacks get overdrafted.
Like, I don't see why he couldn't go number one overall.
He's tall, huge arm, winning.
Signetti loves him.
Was good last year, Cal, on a team that didn't have much talent.
So I would say, if I was a big, you know,
betting man right now, I would say he has the best opportunity to go number one overall.
I would also bet that a quarterback doesn't go number one overall.
Which probably be a stupid bet based on recent history.
I still got a lot of questions.
It's a big ass mailbag.
I was so upset when they traded Micah, but now seeing how the season has played out,
I'm actually glad we didn't.
Instead, we gained valuable resources, the cap flexibility to make smart moves this offseason.
My question being, would you have paid Parsons or moved on?
I think the only thing you can really ding them on is the timing of the trade.
What they should have done is traded them before the draft.
Because their team's pretty good and they could have used that draft capital like a defensive lineman.
What if they just had a starting defensive end that they had just drafted?
So that to me would be the question mark of how they got here.
Not that Micah Parsons was traded.
Their defense, even if you put them on, it would only be.
do so much. But to me, should they have traded him for the draft? And if they had done that,
would they have gotten more? That's a fair criticism. But I never, if you've listened to me,
you knew I didn't have that big a deal with trading him. It's not like, like if the Packers had
had Micah Parsons and traded Micah Parsons, you're a Super Bowl contender. Why are you trading
this guy? The Cowboys clearly were not. I mean, honestly, the Cowboys have been one of the best
stories in the NFL. Brian Schadenheimer, what a pretty cool moment. For again, a guy,
Everyone shit on.
Curious to hear your thoughts on the Giants, in your opinion,
are they a playoff level good in one or two years?
And they got a long way to go.
Let's just figure out, like, is Brian Dayball their coach or not next year?
I mean, we got a long way to go.
What does neighbors look like coming back off the injury?
What's the coaching staff next year?
Let's just, I can't put them in the playoffs any time near, in the near future.
We got a lot of holes to fill, and specifically the best offensive skill guide
needs to be healthy. If he's healthy and they have a good draft, which it feels like they've had
a couple good drafts now, yeah, I don't see why they couldn't be a playoff competitive team.
Do you think the NFL division should be adjusted to be more geographically fair to a team like
the Cowboys? Texans, or not Texans, Texas being in a division with New York, Pennsylvania, and
Maryland makes no sense. It's about market, baby. They want the Eagles playing the Cowboys, they want the
commanders playing the Cowboys, they want the Giants playing the Cowboys.
It's a business.
And at the end of the day, these people are chartering jets.
It's also like USC, like should they be playing Ohio State and Michigan?
You know, in Maryland and Rutgers?
Probably not.
But it's about money.
And you ain't putting the Cowboys with like the Saints and the Jags.
I'll promise you that.
So I think they like a lot where the Cowboys stand.
I'm with you.
Does it make perfect sense?
Once upon a time, the San Francisco Giants and the Atlanta Braves were in the same division in baseball.
Make that make sense.
Pretty sure the 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons were in.
the same division. So it's just, listen, I think we've come a long way, but the Cowboys are not
leaving that group of teams. I'll promise you that. Do you think the Niners are starting to have
thoughts on the Purdy contract regret and the way Mack Jones has been playing? Not saying Purdy isn't
good, but Mac is playing hurt and far from the eye test looks very similar to Purdy at a much
lower cost. Also, it feels like there is more resurgence of the bus quarterback than ever before in the
league. I think you could make the argument of like should Pertie have just been like a three
or $30 million quarterback. You know? And this gets to the question earlier about like why are we
paying all these guys just because Mahomes and Josh Allen and Lamar made a lot. Why do you make a lot?
Just because you're also a quarterback? Like I'm a podcaster too. Should I make the same amount as
Joe Rogan? Probably not. I don't generate the same amount of views and listens that he does.
But we're both podcasters because that's, well, they're
both quarterbacks. Well, it's like, okay, well, one guy's way better than the other guy.
It's like, Janice and some random dude on the Bobcats are both NBA players, who would you
rather have? And it's like, well, I can't have Janice. This is the guy I got. Well, do you want to
invest in this guy? Because if you give this guy $30 million a year, that's going to be a
you problem. And I just think Purdy was difficult because he definitely saved the 49ers.
If Brock Purdy wasn't drafted and didn't come around, Kyle Shanahan, John, John,
John Lynch probably fired.
Because Trey Lance wasn't just a whiff.
He was a disaster.
And they would have been in major trouble.
Pretty saved their job.
So they feel obligated.
Now, it's also easy for them to spend,
it's not their money.
It's the owners.
But I think the way you build your team,
like,
and this is what happens when all these other stupid contracts,
in fairness to Brock Purdy,
like, I'm not signing less than Tua.
Like, I'm not signing for anything less than Trevor Lawrence.
And that's his argument.
It's like the real estate comp argument.
It's like, well, my neighbor's house sold for $1 million.
I have a bigger floor plan, a nicer kitchen in a bigger backyard.
So yeah, I'm putting my house on the market for $1.2 million.
Right?
But you couldn't do that if like, well, my neighbor's house sold for $350K.
It's like my house is exact same.
I'm putting it on the market for $900K.
Guess what's going to happen?
No one's going to call.
Brock's agent had a pretty easy argument.
based on the Kyler Murray's, the Tua's, the Trevor Lawrence's,
like even Jordan Love.
Jordan Love got paid after eight good games.
So it's all out of whack.
Okay, last question.
Longtime listener, love the pod.
Major, major Fugazi.
I was thinking about this.
I'm going to try to bring back Fugazi Friday.
It's kind of got lost in the shuffle during football season,
but I was, we might do my top five NFL Fugazis this year.
Finishing the basement and have one.
room for entertainment for a theater where I will primarily watch sports.
I want to install speakers in these rooms, as well as a couple speakers on the outdoor patio.
I'm not a sound nerd.
Getting quotes from Best Buy for an install and parts are 25 to 40K.
I'm still in shock.
This ain't no Taylor Swift recording studio.
This is just a private home in the suburbs of the Midwest.
Curious, what did you do for your home?
viewing room when you watch sports.
How much did you spend?
Do you remember the brand of speakers?
Right now, I'm actually building an outdoor office, which is not cheap because it's basically
it's called like studio shed.
So it's going to have power.
It's going to have air.
It's going to be just basically my home studio in the backyard, which is like 150 square feet.
and it's, you know, when it's all said and done,
probably costs me like 50 grand.
But given that the room I'm in right now,
which has multiple TVs where I watch NFL football,
where I can watch like 10 games at one time,
it's like, we're going to have a kid,
so he's going to get one of the rooms.
And this room can't just be a wasted space for my office
when we're going to need help, right?
If her mom's coming, people stay here.
So I needed to utilize the outdoor,
but it's just not cheap.
At the same time, I don't have a choice.
When I originally moved in this house, we remodeled it and I got an audio guy.
I said I basically want my house to be like it's 2050, not 2000.
And I want everything hardwired.
I want speakers all over the place.
And that was at the time like 25K.
It was an expensive endeavor.
But all my, you know, that's also my, you know, from security system to all my TVs are on the same
operation to my speakers outdoor, like for the backyard in the pool. I got speakers. But again,
like, I have no skill to do any of that. It wasn't cheap, but I will say this, the guy who's coming
tomorrow because they're building trenches. Today, they pour the concrete for the office. They're
going to build it within the next 10 days. He's coming tomorrow to hardwire that. Like, it is pretty
important. So for me, I view a couple things. If you're going to overpay a little bit, let's just use
your house in general. It's like, you end up spending a lot of time there. Right. There are things like
for me, I could easily, I could have any car I want, right? But I've been driving the same 2011 Tahoe for a long
time. I don't drive that many places. For my job, my car's irrelevant. Car's paid off. It doesn't cost
me anything. Like now, if you have a job where your sales guy front facing and the car's important,
I don't blame you. I would spend a lot on a car too. But for me, I spend a lot of time at my house.
My whole operation is built currently based on my house and the internet speed and streaming.
Like, I have to go prices that are a little uncomfortable.
I'm with you, 40K just for a man cave, feels kind of crazy.
Now, if you have the money, here's the one thing I would recommend.
Because I don't know what the difference are between the type of speakers and I have no clue.
I just trusted my guy.
If you are going to spend a lot of time in that room, let's say you're going to live at your house for another 10 years.
So you do this man cave up, make it sweet.
Spend 30 grand, which relative to how much money you have is a shitload of money.
If you spend a lot of time in there and it's pretty sweet, you're not really going to complain.
And in 10 years, like, what's that money really going to mean to you?
Right now, if that's the difference of like sending your kid to college or feeding the family, right,
or buying a car to get to work, like, yeah, you can't do it.
but if this is money that you have to spend and you are going to utilize it,
like,
I think sometimes we overthink things that we end up utilizing a lot
and sometimes get cheap on them and then regret it later.
And then we do things that we're actually not going to use that often
and we overspend on stuff.
It's like, what a waste.
What a waste.
So I think you just have to prioritize how important is this room to you because I'm with you.
the modern technology is pretty expensive.
Now, the good thing is, I get like a 100-inch TV for $2,000.
You know, the televisions relative to inflation for most things are relatively cheap.
But everything else, the wiring, the speakers, the setup, the labor is definitely not cheap.
So I would just try to gauge it.
One, if you don't have the money, like, don't, you know, don't put this on credit or anything.
If you have the ability to pay for it, cash, because that's a huge thing with me.
Like, I will do these projects as long as I have the cash.
I'm not taking out like a helock to fucking redo my pool that I end up using 10 times in a year, right?
Just because it looks cool, right?
If you have the cash and you want to do it, then do it.
If not, then don't do it.
But also, if you're going to use it a lot, you're like, once I had this guy hardwire in my house, I've never really complained about it.
It's been really good.
Would I rather use that money somewhere else?
Could I have tripled it if I would have put it in the stock market three years ago?
100%.
But it's, I've never complained about it since I've had my house.
I mean, I have this huge thing in a closet, this box of just, I don't even know what.
It's a huge bunch of different
like receivers or something.
I mean, I couldn't even,
whenever things go down, I just call him and he comes over and he fixes it.
It's incredible.
So it's money well spent.
So I feel your pain.
This shit's expensive.
But if you're going to watch a lot of games down there in a couple years,
you and your buddies will not be complaining.
I'll promise you that.
The volume.
