Starting point is 00:02:32 heard. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Here we go on a Friday absolutely packed. Best show of the week. This is The Herd, wherever you may be, and however, you may be listening one hour from now, our Blazing Five, which is Red Hot. We're on IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1. Joy Taylor is joining me. What a showcase last night. I don't have all the Thursday games the last 10 years on my calendar. That was as good as Thursday games get? They live up to the height for sure. Everybody.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Oh, I don't like Thursday games. Poor players. I don't know. Those guys were. That was as good as football gets last night. Now, I want to start with this. Quarterback in the NFL, the reality is, how do you overcome chaos? Everybody loves all these young quarterbacks, and we like Kyle Allen, we like
Starting point is 00:03:29 Kyler Murray, and we like Lamar Jackson, and we like Josh Allen, and we like Baker-Mayfield. Last night, my friends. may have been two of the best quarterbacks in the league, two of the top three. Aaron Rogers and Carson Wentz, that's how to play quarterback. Aaron Rogers put on an absolute clinic. That offensive line for Green Bay was overrun by the Eagles. He was running for his life. He had no running game.
Starting point is 00:03:56 He's got a rookie head coach who once he gets off the script, they can't do anything. They can't do anything in the second half. He lost Devonthe Adams. and Aaron Rogers played as well as he has played. That's a top three Aaron Rogers game for me. He was absolutely brilliant last night. He had no running game. He didn't have two and a half seconds in that pocket more than a half dozen times.
Starting point is 00:04:21 He lost Devonté Adams. He's got a rookie head coach. He's learning a system. Philadelphia's defensive line was pushing Green Bay's O line back the second the ball was snapped. And he was as good as Aaron Rogers has been. in a long time. Jimmy Graham can't catch anymore.
Starting point is 00:04:37 DeMonte Adams got hurt and they couldn't run the ball. The guy threw for 422 yards against the desperate team with Doug Peterson's coaching staff and the veteran Jim Swartz, the defensive coordinator who's outstanding. And then there's Carson Wentz. Now, he ran the ball more. His numbers aren't great. But his team had nine penalties. Nine.
Starting point is 00:04:58 They're at Lambo. He didn't have a deep threat. Deshawn Jackson didn't play. Alshan Jeffrey would not have played if they were not one and two. Alshon Jeffrey was at 50%. And Carson Wentz on the road, can't hear in Lambo, was great. Tremendous decisions. Made one lousy throw at the end that was incomplete in a third and five outside of that, Carson Wentz.
Starting point is 00:05:21 But what I loved about Rogers and Wentz last night, throwing from the different arm angles, errands under constant duress. Now, Wentz had more time to throw, but who's he throwing to? They had no deep threat. Green Bay knew it. Alshon Jeffrey's plan at first. 50 percent. That's how you're quarterback. I mean, nothing against Dak Prescott, but he's faced the fewest pressures in the league. He's got the best running back, the best offensive line.
Starting point is 00:05:43 He's got super smart guys, Randall Cobb, Jason Witton, Amari Cooper. He's got all these veteran guys. They all run the routes he needs. That's not the reality of quarterback. That's not how the world works. I like Patrick Mahomes. Andy reads the best play designer, maybe in football history. He's got the best tight end. He's got the fastest guy in the league. Everybody they draft, Kansas City works. He's got one of the top seven, eight offensive lines. I love Patrava Holmes, but that's not reality. Most people don't get Andy Reid. They don't get Travis Kelsey. They don't get the fastest guy. I mean, last night is how you quarterback in this league. I mean, Buffalo, Josh Allen, 3 and O, they're babysitting him. They still got the binky in.
Starting point is 00:06:25 I mean, last night, Aaron Rogers, if Aaron Rogers didn't play last night and you put in the average NFL quarterback, they could have been, it would have unraveled in five minutes. I mean, Carson Wentz has trailed in all four games this year by at least 10 points. He had the massive pressure last night. If they lose and go one in three in Dallas is three and no, have you ever heard Philadelphia talk radio? It's the angriest talk radio in the world. He is going to have to, on a by week, on a long week, if he turns on the radio, his ears
Starting point is 00:06:58 will catch fire. Philadelphia doesn't just like sports. They live it. So I'm watching that game last night. The pressure that was on, you know, any pharmaceutical sales rep can sell Viagra and heart medicine. Okay, can you sell the new product that's ankle medicine that nobody talks about? Anybody can look good when you have all sorts of time to throw. Rogers had none. And anybody can look good at home when you're a better team, whence nine penalties on the road, no deep threat.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Clinic last night. absolute clinic on how to quarterback. All right, let's shift to this. You know, there's a lot of... You ever driven? I used to have to make this drive once in a while. When I lived in Vegas, I'd have to drive to Los Angeles. And it's like three and a half hours of desert.
Starting point is 00:07:42 And I'd never seen a mirage because I grew up in Washington State, and there is no desert. It's raining. Those are real puddles. But I would drive from Vegas to L.A. And sometimes you'd look out there and it's like, is that a lake? What was it? Oh, it's called a mirage.
Starting point is 00:07:54 And you're like, oh, that's so weird. Like the closer you get... It looks like, it looks like, like you're driving up to a lake, right? They're called mirages. A lot of mirages in the NFL. Buffalo 3-0. They played Brady and Belichick.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Could be a mirage. Kyle Allen, who he looked good last week. Now, let's see if you can face that Houston Texans pass rush. Could be Kyle Allen could be a little mirage. Buffalo could be a little mirage. Was Green Bay a little mirage last night? So the first three weeks they faced Mitch Trubisky, Kirk Cousins and Joe Flacco and that defense shut them down.
Starting point is 00:08:30 I'm looking last night, Carson Wentz, 24 first downs, five for nine on third down, rush for 180 yards for four for four in the red zone. Maybe that Green Bay defense was a little bit of a mirage. Carson Wentz has an A plus arm, A plus size, A plus mobility. They have a Hall of Fame left tackle who was back. Tight end, Zach Ertz will be a Hall of Fame tackle. Doug Peterson's a super clever coach. They had the better pass blocking offensive line last night.
Starting point is 00:08:58 Oh, that defense for Green Bay was not quite as spectacular. Yeah. Okay, Carson Wentz was not sacked last night. Green Bay led the NFC and sacks coming into the game, and he didn't face a ton of pressure. I watched that game last night. I felt Philadelphia was bigger. I felt Philadelphia was stronger.
Starting point is 00:09:19 I said on Twitter and yesterday all over the show, I thought Philadelphia was going to win the game. They were the better team. and they were last night. Listen, it is very difficult to make decisive decisions in the first three or four weeks of the NFL. Bill Belichick and Andy Reid are great coaches. I'll stop at about that.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Patrick Malmes is absurdly talented. I'll give you that one. The truth in this league comes out by about mid-October. Buffalo Bill's have had a lot of good Septembers. Kirk Cousins has had a lot of good games, not on TV. and Philadelphia walked into that place last night. They weren't even fully staffed. Didn't have a deep threat.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Offensive lines been a mess. Three of their first, three of their best corners were out of the game. So this was not a fully staffed team playing under a ton of pressure last night. And that running game for Philadelphia, I mean, if you're Green Bay this morning, you're wake up, you're like, we couldn't adapt for three and a half hours. They ran over the Packers. And I mean, Troy Aikman kept saying it. These were not like schematic tricks.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Look at the holes they're running through. Those are four and five and six feet tunnels that you're running through. And so I just felt that entire game, I thought the bigger, stronger, more physical team was Philadelphia. it's why I liked them before the game. Even when they got down 10-0, my takeaway, I'm sitting there watching thinking, listen, referees, stop getting in the way of the game, let it settle down, it's hard to go to Lambo,
Starting point is 00:11:03 the crowd is nuts, Thursday night football, Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, National TV, crowds going crazy, everybody's socially lubricated with a couple of craft beers. And once that game settled down, Philadelphia owned Green Bay. Philadelphia's offensive line pushed Green Bay's defensive front all over the field. That was really impressive. And they're now getting some rest.
Starting point is 00:11:26 They're now getting healthier. And they are two drop passes, Philadelphia, my Super Bowl NFC pick, from being undefeated. Watch out. First three games of Packers defense allowed 11 a game last night, 34, in Lambo. Now, coming up next, a lot of people are crushing Matt LaFle. floor because they got the ball first and goal at the one and they didn't run it. So I'm going to address that. Joy is coming up as well. Greg Jennings, we have our Blazing Five. We are packed on a Friday today. Terrific show. Blazing Five. If you count last night, we probably shouldn't, but I think we've had 10 of our last 13 or 14 picks we've got right and I love my picks this week. I am picking that Ravens Browns game. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in

And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee.
Starting point is 00:14:23 We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue of 42. Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What?
Starting point is 00:14:45 Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody! But there's so much more to me than me. I'm an actor.
Starting point is 00:15:04 I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone,

This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Coultera podcast network available on the IHartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So last night during the game, a crucial part in the game was Philadelphia was backed up to their one.
Starting point is 00:15:59 So Green Bay's got first and gold at the one yard line and they called four straight passes. And I have as a rule, as a talk show host, I've talked about this. I used to talk about this all the time. talk show hosts never sound dumber than when they try to second-guess coaches who have actually looked at tape. This is, believe it or not, 25-year veteran coaches look at tape no more than sports talk show hosts and drunk guy in the fourth row. I know it's shocking, but if you looked at the tape last night, the coaches looked at tape all week, and you could tell from the first series they made a decision, we can't run on Philadelphia. The tape says we can't run on them.
Starting point is 00:16:42 So there's that. Physicality, Green Bay's running back gets knocked out first play of the game and both tackles get hurt. So physically, what they saw on tape was happening. They were hurting us. So there's that. Matt LaFleur likes to run the football. That's his history at Tennessee and Green Bay.
Starting point is 00:17:01 So there's that. Philadelphia's corners were all hurt. Three of four. Jimmy Graham's 6-6. Devonte Adams is tall. they have big receivers at Green Bay, so there's that. Like there's a lot of different reasons why you don't run the ball. I probably would have run on first down.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Brought in my great power run. But after that, after I couldn't run, I'm not going to run it again. On tape, they couldn't see running. Clearly early in the game. Aaron Rogers led Green Bay in rushing. Aaron Jones is excellent. He had 30 yards on 12 carries. One running back got knocked down to that.
Starting point is 00:17:37 You were down to Aaron Jones and a fullback. 35 seconds into the game. You had mismatches all over the field, but they were in the back end. Where Philadelphia is, I mean, Philadelphia was hiring guys from Panera, Bread, and Olive Garden to play corner last night. And there were massive, massive mismatches in size and experience and talent in the back end. Matt LaFleur talked about it. He took a lot of heat.
Starting point is 00:18:00 Not that I wouldn't have run. I would have run on first down, but here's what he said. You know, when you have one of the, one of the great, greatest quarterbacks ever, you know, you trust him to continually gain yards and get down the field. And we were able to accomplish a lot of what we wanted to do. It's just we've got to do a better job in the red zone. And when you're three for seven, you're not going to win many games. Okay, so ask yourself, why was Philadelphia so good in the red zone last night? Four for four. Ask yourself, because their offensive line was pushing Green Bay's defensive front all over the field.
Starting point is 00:18:37 is Carson Wentz that much better than Aaron Rogers? Of course not. Well, the opposite was true with Green Bay. When you watched that game last night, the ball was snapped and Aaron Rogers was under duress. There were no running lanes. So you think down at the one, one and a half yard line, they're just going to open up. Well, you've only got to get a yard. Yeah, and they got more guys jammed in the box.
Starting point is 00:19:01 So, and again, if you always default to this in the NFL, I'm going to put the ball in the hands of the most talented player on my team. Aaron Rogers has been in a million fourth and ones, third and ones at the goal line. He's been here before. Matt Bluffluwer hasn't as a head coach. And Matt said, Aaron, I'm going to put it in your hands. Aaron talked about it after the game. I feel good about all four calls.
Starting point is 00:19:30 I mean, we had a fade to Jimmy. We had a keeper that they played well. We had a, you know, an RPO. and, you know, and then we had the fourth down call. But I felt good about, you know, we had a couple opportunities there, I think, to score. We just didn't quite execute. But, yeah, it hurts, obviously, you know, the way they were stopping the run. We felt good about those four calls, and I like the calls,
Starting point is 00:19:57 and I feel like we were close to on a couple of those to really score and tying it up. Listen, Green Bay with Matt LaFleur has been very good on script, but once you get off the script last night, Green Bay couldn't move the football. Aaron Rogers had a great drive end of the half because he's Aaron Rogers and Philadelphia's corners. Most of those guys will never see valuable minutes if the real guys are healthy. But, you know, everybody sits around. Green Bay is coaches.
Starting point is 00:20:25 Now, I don't like fade patterns, but Aaron throws the best fade in the league. So even that call on first down, I'm not a huge fan of it. but Aaron throws such a good I mean that's as perfectly as thrown ball as you can do. Then you look at the second one. Again, he's under massive duress. Then you look at the third one. Again, there's not much you can do here, but there is
Starting point is 00:20:44 a mismatch inside. And the fourth one, it's a little playground, but you know what I mean? There's eight eagles in one guy. Philadelphia's a better football team. And Philadelphia's defense was in Aaron's face all night. We can sit here and argue and yell and I would have run on first down, but I'm going to defend Matt Lafleur
Starting point is 00:21:00 here. I got I got news for you. Pete Carroll got all sorts of heat for throwing the ball to one yard line. A lot of people in this league now, this is not 1974, 84, 83. They throw the ball to one and two yard line. It's like, ask yourself, right now, ask yourself. Arizona gets the ball first and goal at the two. Wouldn't you put the ball in Kyler Murray's hands with their offensive line? Yeah, of course you would.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Then why wouldn't you put in Aaron Rogers with that offensive line? two-yard line for a mobile quarterback who's a playmaker, Lamar Jackson, one-yard line. I'll put it in his hands. Let Lamar make something happen. Joy with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news.
Starting point is 00:21:41 This is the herd line news. Huge game on Sunday. Bill's and the Patriots. It is. Brady is heading to Buffalo, and Bill's fans are known for creating a very hostile environment for visiting teams, but Brady has no problems in Buffalo. He has 15 wins there,
Starting point is 00:21:58 which is the fourth most, of any quarterback, including those that have played for the bills. But despite that, Bill's tackle Dion Dawkins is not intimidated by the Patriots. He said, we don't care what they've done in the games before because they haven't played us yet. Once they play us, and if it doesn't change, then that's when you can all start talking. I love Brady and I respect his game and him as a player. No, Buffalo. But I got Josh Allen.
Starting point is 00:22:23 That's really all I am worried about is keeping that kid clean. Joy, my head hurts. What? It's my favorite. It's so good. So the dynasty all week. The dynasty all week said, oh, my, Buffalo is great. The bills are like, we got Josh Allen.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Lord. I mean, this is, I know we're both nerding out right now, but this is the type of stuff we live for. Like, this is so good. What are you talking about? You've got Bill Belichick out here. Like, Bill's fans are the best. They're going to have such. You won't be able to hear anything.
Starting point is 00:22:58 They just come there, totally focused on watching the game. And the bills are like... Talking trash. You haven't played us before. He is right, though. Factually, they have not played this Buffalo team before. Anybody have an Advil for me? I have a headache.
Starting point is 00:23:12 I love it. Look at this list, though, of the most quarterback wins in Buffalo. Jim Kelly, obviously, number one, 58, Joe Ferguson 39, Drew Bledso, 18, and Tom Brady 15. Now, in fairness, Drew Bledso played there for a few years. Yeah. But pretty much New England does okay in Buffalo. But either way, this is going to be a great game. Yeah, and I think it's going to be a close game.
Starting point is 00:23:34 I come down to this on this game. Do you realize against New England this year, Joy, this is crazy? What I'm going to tell you is, don't you have something called I'm crazy? Okay, this is crazy. 39 possessions against New England this year. One score. Okay, second closest in the league is, so that's like, 2%.
Starting point is 00:23:57 Next closest in the NFL is 16%. So it's like, does everybody understand Belichick eats alive? Quarterbacks who haven't played 15 games in the NFL. That's my fear in this game is Josh Allen just throws a terrible pick. Well, apparently they're not worried about Josh Allen. So Jalen Ramsey is not with the Jags this week
Starting point is 00:24:17 for the birth of his second child. But if he has his way, he will not ever return to the Jaguars. he joined the 17 weeks uninterrupted podcast on Sirius XM yesterday to confirm that he still wants out of Jacksonville. All right. I'm not sure if I've played my final game for the Jags yet or not, but my trade request still stands. For me, respect is a huge thing.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Once respect is lost for both parties, I think it's time to part ways. I'm going to continue being a top corner in this league for years to come. The money will come, but money isn't everything. Peace and happiness means a lot more than the money. I do get great players. You know, this is one where I'll defend great players. When you're a great player, Jalen's a great player, I do get thinking, listen, man, I got six years left.
Starting point is 00:25:10 I'm not wasting it with Nick Foles in this losing organization. I get that. Now, I think there are very few players who can demand that. But Jalen Ramsey is just now. Like today, going into six years of prime. Right. And this league, you get hurt.
Starting point is 00:25:26 There is the occasional players where I'm like, listen, this is a winning player in a losing situation. I get the frustration. I mean, I know fans and organizations don't love the trade requesting, but I really can't, I can never blame a player for wanting to get out of a situation where he feels like he's not being able to compete at the highest level in his prime. If you're an elite player at the top of your game. But I also think that there's something to this situation where you're not.
Starting point is 00:25:53 something went sour. Like he clearly had a conversation with someone in the front office that he felt was out of line and he cannot get over. And sometimes those relationships, like, there's just nothing you can do about it. You can't fix it. And long term, this may end up getting fixed by Shadcom coming in and, you know, paying him. But he's saying the money isn't everything. So he may very well just be like, I don't care if you do want to pay me. I want to play for a winner.
Starting point is 00:26:19 I want to play for a winner. And I feel disrespected by the organization. Finally, speaking of getting paid, Patrick Mahomes can sign a long-term extension with the Chiefs this off season, and sources are saying it's going to be a pretty big one. According to Adam Schepter, Mahom's deal could be worth as much as $200 million. Shepter expects it to be around five years, $40 million per year, which I'll make him the highest paid in the NFL. Russell Wilson has the richest NFL deal right now, four years, $140 million at $35 million per year. only five players are set to make $40 million a year in 2020,
Starting point is 00:26:55 2020, 2021. All NBA players, by the way. Steph Curry, Chris Paul, Russell, Westbro, John Wall, and James Hardin. Listen, the downside of that. I know everybody wants the player to get played. You pay $40 million to the quarterback. You cannot have an elite defense. You can't.
Starting point is 00:27:09 Well, you know, the interesting thing about it is I could see Patrick Mahom, not taking a discount, but I could see him doing $36, $37 million, just to make things work and leave a little bit. Not that, you know, that's not a whole lot of space. But I mean, Russell Wilson's making 35. He deserves to be the highest paid. Right. So if that's important to him.
Starting point is 00:27:28 And let me say this. Russell has an argument because my takeaway on Russell was, you know, he got drafted in the third round, so he never made any money. Patrick's not making terrible money here. Okay. Russell made nothing. Won a Super Bowl making as much as a Seattle DJ. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:44 And then basically was never really, I mean, let's be honest. The whole Seattle brand. was Pete Carolyn defense. Russell's like, check please. Okay, Mahomes getting first round money, inherits Andy Reid, and we are anointing him and acknowledging, boy, you're great. So it's like I always said about D. Wade. You inherit Pat Riley.
Starting point is 00:28:03 You don't play state tax. You've got a little, I'm not saying you have to give Pat a discount. Right. But there are times you do get little benefits that you should at least consider. Yeah. And I mean, obviously comparing it. We're only comparing NBA money because this is. Literally NBA money. Right. But I do think that Patrick, I'm not saying I think he's going to take a major discount, but I do think there are factors in there that it's like he does obviously deserve to make that money.
Starting point is 00:28:31 Yes. He is a superstar and he has all the leverage and he's earned it. But I could see him scaling it back a little bit to give them room. Or. Because I think he truly like cares about winning and understands that's going to keep them from being able to science. Or does Patrick play and take the first big contract? and then after that says, okay, I've made the huge money. Now, like Brady, I'm going to take a little discount to market because I got all these stats. Because I think Patrick at some point, once you win Super Bowls, you get tired of not winning. Like, if Brady was 5 and 11 this year, I think he'd hang it up.
Starting point is 00:29:06 He's like, I'm out. The winning is intoxicating. Yeah, I could see him doing that too. And to be clear, he should take as much money as he wants and he deserves all of it. But I could see it going differently. All right, good stuff. with the news. Well, that's the news.
Starting point is 00:29:20 And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd Lie News. By the way, I got a haircut yesterday and my teeth cleaned. Feeling pretty good about myself, I'm not going to lie. Plus, Blazing Five is on fire. I mean, honestly, right now, whatever clouds there are above us, I'm walking on him. And I'm blazing fives in 30 minutes from now. So what I've said to start the show is that was quarterbacking.
Starting point is 00:29:44 I know we all love the young quarterbacks, but Wents and Aaron Rogers, That was quarterbacking. I want to talk, I want to bring in Greg Jennings, though, via the Coward Global Satellite Network, former Packer 10 years, Super Bowls, Pro Bowls, multiple Pro Bowls. I kind of defended, kind of. I don't like the second-guess coach's calls because I think I sound like an idiot. You look at tape all week. I don't.
Starting point is 00:30:10 Philadelphia couldn't stop him passing. Aaron's amazing. throws the best fade route in the league. Philadelphia is on third string corners. I got tall Jimmy Graham, I got tall guys. I get Green Bay saying, we can't run. We haven't run for an hour and a half. They're literally seeping into our backfield.
Starting point is 00:30:27 But I'm guessing as a player, Greg, you would have liked a scene, at least in of those four plays, one run by Green Bay and Matt LaFleure? Yeah, as a fan, I love to see the passing game flourish. And as a receiver, I love to see the passing game flourish. And if I were on that football field last night, yeah, let's throw it all four times. I don't have a problem with their decision to do that because that's what was working last night. However, it's like you're not using two hands. You're just only using one.
Starting point is 00:31:00 And with them not controlling the line of scrimmage, you don't force the defenders up front to play it honest. And you're putting that pressure on your offensive line to just pass a block for four consistent downs. you're not putting the pressure on the defense to even honor the run. That was my only, if I had any pushback, that would be my only pushback. But Aaron was right in his comments postgame. The play calls that were made, they were plays that could get them points and put points on the board. They just didn't execute and get it done. You know, Greg, that there's a lot of mirages in the NFL in September.
Starting point is 00:31:39 We've seen Buffalo go 3 and 0 a lot. And then all of a sudden, October hits, you face a variety. variety of different schemes, coaches, and by October, there's no more mirages. The truth comes out. So Green Bay had played, the defense had played Trubisky, Kirk Cousins, Joe Flacco, and they look great. And then here comes the Eagle O line. Here comes Carson Wentz. Did the Packer defense get exposed? What is the Pack? What am I supposed to make of Green Bay's defense, which was so heralded after last night? You know what? I'm not sure as well. I was. I was. kind of at a loss of words watching them perform last night because they were getting beat
Starting point is 00:32:19 on all three levels. They were getting beat up front all night, both sides of the ball, specifically on the defensive side of the ball with the defensive line. And even in the secondary, their secondary didn't look as stout as it had in the prior three games. So my concern moving forward is now you're going to compete against a Dallas Cowboy team coming up here soon where they can pass the ball, they can run the ball, and you're going to be faced with a different style of quarterback, but you're going to have those challenges and can you hold up? That's the question.
Starting point is 00:32:52 I did not like what I saw out of the Packers defense. And I was one that was hesitant initially the week one because of who they played at quarterback in the Chicago Bears and Mitchell Chubisky and then thought that, okay, maybe this defense is really legit the next two weeks, And then this performance just shows us that, yeah, they got to go back to the drawing board. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:15 And by the way, when your defense is giving up chunk yards on runs, it keeps Aaron Rogers off the field. So that is the way to beat him a homes or Aaron Rogers is just control the line of scrimmage in Philadelphia did last night. Listen, the best coaches in football, Bill Belichick, Pete Carroll, to me, are great adjusters at halftime. I used to think McCarthy was a pretty good adjuster. Matt LaFleur, we have a trend now after four games. Green Bay is very good on the script. They don't do anything after half.
Starting point is 00:33:47 Now, is this a young coach thing? I mean, but Greg, I mean, they don't move the ball in the second half. So is it Devonna Adams injury? Should I be concerned if I'm a packer about what happens after half with a rookie head coach? I wouldn't be concerned. I think it's a matter of any team that comes out with. first 15 and we know all teams pretty much have their first 15 scripted. Well, in those first 15, you have studied film and you've practiced against that defense and those looks that you are
Starting point is 00:34:19 thinking that you're going to get and that are going to be presented across from you. And so you're going to look sharper. The expectation is for you to execute those plays. After that, it is all on you as players on the field to execute the plays that are called. And that That's just not what we have not seen the Green Bay Packers do in the second half. It has nothing to do with the play calls. It's just a lack of execution. Yesterday, however, I saw something that I hadn't, I felt like I wasn't seeing out of Aaron Rogers.
Starting point is 00:34:53 And that was him just flat out taking over the game and saying, put the ball in my hands, I'm going to get it done. I was impressed with the Aaron Rogers that I saw last night. Not so much all the working pieces around them. they should have been able to run the ball a little bit more effectively to help him out. But if he looks like that, they'll be okay. Yeah. Finally, you know that quarterbacking in this league is how do you deal with discomfort?
Starting point is 00:35:19 Carson Wentz trailed by 10. He didn't have a deep threat. You know, it's hard to hear it, Lambeau. He had to win a shootout because Aaron was on fire. That's real quarterbacking. I wonder this, you know, Dak, he's got the best online, best running game. He's faced the fewest pressures. now he goes to the loudest stadium in the league Superdome.
Starting point is 00:35:39 Saints have a real pass rush. It's an excellent offensive and defensive coaching staff. I have a feeling, not that I like Dak. I'd pay him the money. But it's been, boy, it's been a Rich Carlton for Dak. It's nothing but comfort. I wonder, does Dak get a little exposed this weekend because he has to face coaching, pass rush?
Starting point is 00:36:01 What do you think Dallas looks like, the offense looks like at New Orleans this Sunday night? you know, I don't think they get exposed. I just think they look more stalled than what we've seen in the first three weeks. And what I mean by that is when you're alluding to these luxurious hotels and all these amenities, well, when you go into what we classify the real world and you don't have all those things, it's kind of a culture shock. You have to start adjusting and acclimating yourself to that. Well, that takes time. And so I, I have them losing on Sunday night against the Saints because I think that's going to be something that they haven't experienced all year. Although they've developed some confidence in those first three games, this is a different defense, a different atmosphere and environment. And Sean Payton will definitely have his team ready to go. You and I agree on that.
Starting point is 00:36:56 So Greg Jennings, look at that beautiful room behind Greg Jennings. It's just trophies and Pro Bowl. Look at that. Thank you, cameraman. man, that is amazing. All right. In his, I'm not even going to talk about the house he's in right now. Let's not even go.
Starting point is 00:37:11 Stop it. Whatever. All right. It's great seeing you, buddy. Thanks for coming on the show. Absolutely. Appreciate it. Fox Sports, NFL analyst, really good guy.
Starting point is 00:37:20 And I'm with him. I like the Saints. And for the exact same reason, I think Dallas is going to sputter offensively in the first half. Dak's going to trail. And that place is a zoo when the Saints lead in the second half. So I, this league is about. discomfort not comfort for quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:37:36 We have so much good stuff today. This was a day literally I was walking up. First of all, I got my dentist yesterday in a haircut. So don't all rush in it once, ladies. Got your hair did. Your nails done. Told my wife last night. I said, there's all sorts of time here. Don't rush over to me. Looking good. So I got Blazing Five. Coming up next.
Starting point is 00:37:58 I'm going to try to explain a little bit. Lefleur for the Packers is struggling in the second half. And I've got a little theory on this. And it has to do, remember Sully Sullenberger, the guy that landed the plane on the Hudson? Why he, Matt LaFleur could learn something from him about his second half woes. That's coming up. It's the herd. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific.

I'm talking. Trip Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it.
Starting point is 00:39:47 And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different.
Starting point is 00:40:01 intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Starting point is 00:40:21 What's up, guys? This is Clever Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff, like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What?
Starting point is 00:40:40 Time out. Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, rep, my mama wants you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:40:59 Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than that. I'm an actor.
Starting point is 00:41:10 I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike! I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice.
Starting point is 00:41:28 Join me and my comedian friends as we really Rant recommends some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Oh, cream of chicken suit. Hey, cream. Cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know.
Starting point is 00:41:51 Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the MyCultura podcast network available on the IHartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Guys, don't use your girlfriend or your wife shampoo. Your hair is different. Treat it different. Get your own. Dove men plus care. Created a range, desire to help your hair get the care it needs.
Starting point is 00:42:11 Strong and resilient, available at Walmart. All great football coaches adjust very well during the course of a game. They adjust well. Most young coaches script very well. Now, scripting is important. but adjusting win Super Bowls. Terry and Howie talked about Green Bay's problem this year, which is last night, fourth quarter, no points.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Green Bay is now one of the worst teams in the NFL, 29th in second half points. That's with Aaron Rogers. That's with Aaron Jones. That's with Devonte Adams. That's with an offensive coach. That's with an above-average pass blocking O-line usually. They are bad.
Starting point is 00:42:58 they are not they are not i mean they've scored 28 in the first quarter 33 in the second six in the fourth quarter it is now a trend howie terry talked about it last night thursday night football on fox well they've got the first 15 plays of the game down pat it's the second 15 that they're having an issue with so why are the first 15 plays they got them down why is that our viewers may not know they're scripted they're scripted yeah scripted so they know exactly what they're doing for first 15. That's one thing. I think they're just struggled. They're very good at the opening half. They're very poor in the second half of the football game. And the reality is they may not fix it for a while. Sully Sullenberger, you remember the pilot? When you're a 35-year veteran of
Starting point is 00:43:42 flying and you lose an engine on takeoff over New York City, you can land it flying over the George Washington Bridge and nobody dies. I'm going to go with that would be more. much harder for a first-year pilot who loses an engine over New York City and has roughly 90 seconds to save everybody's life. Experience is crucial. Belichick, Sabin, Dabo Sweeney, Pete Carroll, these are great adjusters. Sean McVeigh came into this league as a tremendous scripted coach. He was then embarrassed in the Super Bowl by Belichick. Why? Because he never adjusted. He had a bad Super Bowl, Sean McVey heard about it all offseason. Why didn't you adjust?
Starting point is 00:44:30 You can adjust. Off the script. You don't do anything. Do you know what McVeigh does really well this year? Second half scoring. It took even this brilliant young coach a couple of years to get off the script. He was great on script early with the Rams. Got to that Super Bowl and went, oh, God, this is why Belichick has all these rings.
Starting point is 00:44:50 Belichick is not good in the first quarter in the Super Bowl. He's the greatest second half quarter coach in the history of the Super Bowl. So McVeigh got ripped all year. And what did he do? Rams are second in the NFL in second half scoring. He said, I've got to learn to adjust better, not just script the game. So here is Matt LaFleur. He is a scriptor.
Starting point is 00:45:13 And I think it's very hard to ask a first-year pilot, a first-year coach, even if, even if it's Sean McVeigh. All right, 15 plays in. All right. Now, at halftime, you've got 12 minutes. Nothing's working or everything is. And I think this is very difficult. I mean, let's go look at six of the eight rookie coaches right now. There's eight new head coaches. Six of them. Six of the eight are in the bottom third of second half scoring. Do you think that's just coincidence? And Freddie Kitchens has looked a little overwhelmed. Zach Taylor, after the first game, has looked a little overwhelmed. Matt Lafleur in second halfs has been worked.
Starting point is 00:45:56 Doesn't mean he can't coach. It doesn't mean he's not smart. It has nothing to do with that. Sully Sullenberger, first year as a pilot, probably can't land it in the Hudson. Not like that. Not a perfect landing. No engine over New York City. Probably, if you ever watched that movie, had to make split second division decisions.
Starting point is 00:46:17 What were all those decisions based on experience? Having flown over big cities. having lost an engine, having been hit by lightning, having had duress in a tight landing spot. So I think they can solve that stuff. It's not that they can't solve it, but I think it's very, very hard. And it comes with experience. And right now, Matt Lafleur, it may take him a year to figure it out. I say this all the time.
Starting point is 00:46:40 Just because you're talented, Kobe Bryant was talented when he was sitting on the Laker bench. But Kobe Bryant had to figure out, okay, be careful, this kind of defense, this guy can shoot. You look at the NBA and LeBron James. LeBron's a coach on the floor. LeBron wasn't even a good defender his first year. You can have all the talent in the world, but you've got to learn. I could never hire a 21-year-old producer on this show.
Starting point is 00:47:06 It could be the secret to go to Harvard. He could go to Princeton. If you don't have 10 years in this business, with all the moving parts on the show, I just can't hire you. I don't care what your resume says. I can't hire you. Everybody and my staff's got 10-plus years or more.
Starting point is 00:47:20 And I loved you, Millennials. but it's Joy has got, she's been regional, she's been local now, she's been national. We're asking Matt LaFleurro on national TV to go up against Doug Peterson. He's got inferior line play. Good luck. Blazing five top of the hour. By the way, I don't have a ton of time here. I do want to talk about this because I got so much good stuff top of next hour.
Starting point is 00:47:41 I think, I like the Dallas Cowboys to get beat this weekend by New Orleans. So here's what's interesting. I've been saying this. So Dallas has had easy street. I mean, it's bad teams. two or three home. New Orleans, keep your eye on New Orleans. So the Cowboys so far have faced the 31st defense,
Starting point is 00:47:58 the 26 defense, and the worst defense in the league. They've just got nothing but comfort. Keep your eye on New Orleans. So New Orleans opens against J.J. Watt and the Houston Texans, who, with the worst offensive line last couple of years, keep winning their division and winning 11 games a year. And then they go to Los Angeles. Drew Brees gets hurt.
Starting point is 00:48:17 They get a bad whistle, and they almost beat the Rams. Then they go up to Seattle, get out game, two to one and actually though physically push Seattle around win special teams win red zone. New Orleans has faced nothing but duress and they are two and one and if not for a bad whistle could be three and oh. Don't think, this is the classic example. Last night Philadelphia is one and two, Green Bay's three and oh. But I said yesterday, Philadelphia is more desperate and Philadelphia has dealt with major
Starting point is 00:48:49 receiver injuries, O line injuries, drop pass. I'm not so sure New Orleans is not the better team than Dallas. I think it's very, very close. The last couple times these teams have played, they can't score. And I like that. But Giants, Redskins, Dolphins, those are three rebuilding teams. Those are rebuilding defenses. He's going to face his best pass rush.
Starting point is 00:49:12 He's not going to be able to hear. Sean Payton, Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas, and a top 10 offensive line. This is going to be a very, I have a feeling this is going to look like Philadelphia Green Bay, where the team with the worst record is going to come in and you're going to go, oh, because the Saints defense is legit. Think about Dallas. Saints this week. Then Aaron Rogers comes to town.
Starting point is 00:49:36 Then the Eagles defense is a couple of weeks away. And by the time you do face the Jets, Sam Darnel is back. And the Jets defense is actually good. They'll have Leonard Williams, Jamal Adams, C.J. Mosley, Quinn and Williams. And I think the kid is May. Is it Brian May? Who's the safety that they love? They love Marcus May.
Starting point is 00:49:54 They love him in New York. So the defense is now. Jet's strength is their defense. Eagles D-line is coming to town. Saints defense Sunday night is real. And here comes Aaron Rogers. So all this comfort for Dallas, all this comfort food, it's done. That's done.
Starting point is 00:50:11 All the rebuilding defenses are done. I like the Saints coming up on Sunday night football. Okay, Blazing 5 around the corner. Plus, it's not just losing. there is a way to lose in the NFL that's okay. Next. Want more herd? The herd streams 24 hours a day,

Starting point is 00:54:23 to have Brady Puping on about 50 minutes. He's the former Packer linebacker buddies with Aaron Rogers. He's great last time he was on. We said, get back in here. I've got some questions about Green Bay's defense because when you face Trubisky and Flacco and Kirk Cousins, it's way different than facing Carson Wentz. And between Carson Wentz, Alshan, Jeffrey, Zach Ertz, Eagles had their left tackle back, and man, they just pounded the football.
Starting point is 00:54:49 And I mean wide holes was Green Bay's defense. little exposed last night. So we'll ask to Brady. And by the way, it's early. People can make adjustments. But as we talked about, young coaches struggle with adjustments more than good veteran coaches. So we'll see that. Well, a lot of, you know, you should always, I tell my kids, work hard, head down, be humble. But sometimes dad cannot be humble. Sometimes dad is on fire. Children, daddy is hot. Blazing Five is a smoke show right now. So there's no reason to come out be falsely humble joy sometimes you just got to say
Starting point is 00:55:24 you got it flon it yeah Blazine 5's hot I got a new haircut and I got my teeth clean yesterday just working it on a Friday I am ladies whatever all right kind of an idiot really one all right so let's not waste any time on this
Starting point is 00:55:40 it's going to be a great 10 minutes of stuff so let's go to the red hot one again last week five picks four wins zero losses one push here we go Blazing 5 that's a hot one Let's blaze it up. Fire it up. It's Collins, Blazing Fire.
Starting point is 00:55:54 Titans at Falcons. I'm going to take Tennessee plus three and a half. Listen, don't bail on Tennessee. There are Jekyll and Hyde team in the NFL. Awful one week last year, crush the Cowboys. Awful to next week, crush New England. Atlanta's really been troublesome to me. Matt Ryan leads the NFL with six interceptions.
Starting point is 00:56:13 He had seven all last year. Obviously, they have a coordinator quarterback issue. They are tied for the Browns for the most of, penalties in the league. They're a mess. The Falcons have the third worst, third down defense, meaning Matt Ryan for long stretches, sits on the sidelines. By the way, the Titans have done this well. Turnover differential, plus four. Tennessee's got a good coach, a good offensive line. You just can't bail on Tennessee, and I know you want to, but they finish nine and seven,
Starting point is 00:56:41 nine and seven, nine and seven the last three years. They're just inconsistent because Marcus Mariotta's inconsistent, but I'm getting over a field goal here. going to call for an upset. Tennessee wins 2724. Browns and Ravens. I do not generally like laying a touchdown, but I'm going to take Baltimore minus seven here. Cleveland's been the picture of inefficiency. Penalties, lead the NFL. Baker Mayfield, interceptions, second most in the league. They're converting 28% on third down with all those talented players. Cleveland is just inefficient. Baltimore's the opposite. They have a lower ceiling but are completely efficient. Only team in the NFL without a turnover.
Starting point is 00:57:25 Points yards rushing. First, first, first. I don't think Lamar is there yet. But he knows it, and they know it, and they don't put him in situations to fail. I think Cleveland continually puts Baker in positions to fail. I also think there's a total mismatch. Baltimore's offensive line is fantastic. Cleveland's is junk. Time of possession. Ravens have the ball for 30. 38 minutes and they win 29 to 17 and cover. Raiders at Colts. I'm going to go against the public on this. I'm going to take the Raiders plus six and a half.
Starting point is 00:58:00 First of all, that rookie running back from Alabama, Josh Jacobs leads all rookie running backs. And by the way, Colts have struggled defensively to stop the run. Raiders young tight end is top 10 in the league in catches for tight ends. The Raiders have done some things well. They're running the football. Their O line is better. They've got a really good skilled wide receiving core.
Starting point is 00:58:22 Here's the problem with the Indianapolis so far. They've won but barely, and their defense has been really underwhelming. 28th in red zone defense, 28th in third down defense. I think the Raiders are going to convert a lot of third downs in this game and keep it very close. We paid so much attention when Andrew Luck retired to Jacoby Preset, and I do like what I'm seeing with the Colts offense. I don't like what I'm seeing it with a defense. I don't see the speed. I don't see them getting people off the field.
Starting point is 00:58:53 I think it's a 27-26 game either way. I'm taking the Raiders and six and a half. 27-26, I think. Indy probably pulls it out, but I'll take the points. Seahawks at Cardinals. I like it. I love it. This game's always close.
Starting point is 00:59:12 Seattle last week had a two-to-one statistical edge on New Orleans. got crushed. They're not converting enough. Seahawks are allowing almost 27 points a game. The Seahawks three wins, all their games have been decided by six points or less. They're winning statistical battles and can't put people away. That's a troubling sign. That'll come back to haunt Seattle against better teams. Listen, Arizona, say this about Arizona. They've played real teams. Detroit hasn't lost a game. Baltimore looks good. They went right toe to with them. Carolina's got all sorts of good players. Arizona's faced good teams. They are staying in
Starting point is 00:59:53 games. And I think with Kyler Murray and Cliff Kingsbury, even though they're losing, the locker room feels like we're not a Super Bowl team. We know it. But we are getting better week after week. I think Arizona is a very interesting story here. Again, I think it's a 24, 23, very ugly game. Seattle may lead most of it. I'll take Kyler Murray to come back, get a backdoor cover. Arizona covers, loses, but covers 24, 23 Hawks. Cowboys at Saints. I mean, this is a gift. I get New Orleans, which I think could be the better team, and they're at home, and I get the superior coach, and I get two and a half points.
Starting point is 01:00:33 I mean, Teddy Bridgewater and 19 starts, I'll put the numbers up. He's pretty good. By the way, Alvin Kamara at home, six TDs past five home games. He's really good. Saints don't turn the ball over. Three turnovers all year. By the way, that pass rush, nine sacks. I think I may be getting the better team here. I'm getting the better coach. I'm getting home field advantage. I'm getting Sunday night football so people in New Orleans can lubricate all day Sunday.
Starting point is 01:01:01 It'll be the loudest crowd of the year, and I'm getting the better team. I'm going to take the Saints to win it outright, 28 to 27. So here's my blazing five. I'm taking points with Tennessee. I'm going to swallow points and go Baltimore. I'm taking the dog raiders, the dog cardinals, and the dog saint. So I have four underdogs in my blazing five this week. I got so close.
Starting point is 01:01:25 I got so close to taking Buffalo. Don't do it. And I kept coming down to this, Joey. 30-some possessions against New England this year. One score. Josh Allen is going to make a bad throw in the second half. Stefan Gilmore is going to pick it. And Baltimore, Buffalo is going to go toe-to-to-to-in New England.
Starting point is 01:01:48 It's going to be great. and he's going to make the big mistake late, pressured, out pattern, Gilmore, gone, and you're going to sit there and think, I had the right side of the bet but lost it. I was very close. Belichick versus young quarterbacks, good luck.
Starting point is 01:02:05 Do you know Belichick has covered 60% of the games he's ever been in as a, not that he would care, 60%. I can imagine someone telling him that. What does that mean? Rwanda Cincinnati. If you bet Belichick, You'd win 60% of the time.
Starting point is 01:02:20 All of our odds are provided by Fox bet. I want to say this. There is a, I do believe there is a way to lose in the NFL. And nobody goes, I mean, we just don't have 16 and no teams. Miami Dolphins' only team to do it. You're just going to lose games. But there are ways to lose. Now, Baltimore this week plays Cleveland.
Starting point is 01:02:41 When Cleveland lost to the Rams, a score was 2013. That was a very respectable loss, right, on paper. But Freddie Kitchens looked like he was overmatched. The play calling was putrid. Baker Mayfield made mistakes. It was the way they lost, not the score that made us look at Cleveland and go, Baker's overrated, Freddie Kitchens is over his head. Now, Baltimore lost to Kansas City, but they look well coached.
Starting point is 01:03:04 They look tough. You came out of that loss, and I think Baltimore's like, hey, we can play with anybody. So Cleveland loses does not feel good about itself, penalties play calling. Baltimore loses feels great about itself. I mean, last week's a prime example. New Orleans lost in L.A., but Breeze was hurt. They had an early whistle or they would have taken the lead on them. So New Orleans is like, we're not even going back to New Orleans.
Starting point is 01:03:32 We're staying on the West Coast. We got robbed in L.A. They went up to Seattle and controlled the Seahawks. That's a good loss. It matters. Cleveland can lose this weekend 2820. It's going to be how they lose. If they lose 2820, four penalties, they play their butts off.
Starting point is 01:03:53 It is close late, 21, 20, and then Baltimore adds a late score. You're going to get on that plane and be, okay, we are making progress. Freddie Kitchens is good enough. He went toe to toe with Harbaugh. Baker Mayfield cleaned up his act. We ran the ball, a lot of play action. But if they go and they're a mess and Kitchens is overwhelmed and they have 13 penalties, folks, this puppy is unraveling.
Starting point is 01:04:20 Because then you're going to face off a bye, Kyle Shanahan. Good luck, flying west and facing, in my opinion, the most clever offensive guy in the league. Off a bye. That on a short week, because that's Monday night, you play the Seahawks and veteran coach Pete Carroll. Oh, and then it's New England after that.
Starting point is 01:04:43 You're not one in any of those games. if you lose to Baltimore and you, and it's ugly, Cleveland can lose this week. You can lose this week. As long as you show, Freddie can go toe to toe. Baker cuts down on the mistakes. You run the ball allowing Baker to do play action. But if you have nine penalties,
Starting point is 01:05:04 you have weird coaching, you look undisciplined. This thing's going to unravel in Cleveland fast. My guess is they play pretty well, but I think it's a time of possession game. I think Baltimore's offensive line is fantastic. I think they're just going to grind and grind and grind. Baltimore does not make mistakes.
Starting point is 01:05:24 That's why they're so well coached. They know their quarterback has some limitations, and this is what Buffalo is doing, and they don't put them in harm's way. Cleveland, every play, Baker's having to save the team. So in this league, everybody loses. It is how you lose as a young team. team. Just watch that Baltimore game. How? How? How? Not what happens, but how it happens could be the Cleveland Brown's season in the balance.
Starting point is 01:05:58 Okay. So we brought this guy on not long ago. I thought he was just absolutely terrific. Brady Pupinga. He played with Aaron Rogers, buddies with Aaron Rogers. I don't know what we make a Green Bay's defense this morning. I'll ask him. I don't know. They got pushed around last night, but Philadelphia is also, Offensive line is fantastic. Jason Peters' left tackle is going to be a Hall of Famer. That's coming up. Eight NFL seasons, a Super Bowl champ drafted by the Packers, buddies with Aaron Rogers, who put on a clinic last night with no running game and no protection. Brady Pupinga, former NFL linebacker just sharing stories. He will have a great story before we let him off about Larry Allen, Cowboys' legendary offensive linemen, not giving it away, 10 minutes away. So let's start with this. Four or five games in, the truth comes out about the league.
Starting point is 01:10:24 There's a lot of mirages early. Matt LaFleur, four games now, they can't score in the second half. So my takeaway is he's a young coach, he's very good off the script. Is it possible that he's just not there yet as a coach? being able to adjust at half. Absolutely. I think halftime adjustments, but also like the short week,
Starting point is 01:10:43 I knew was going to test him tremendously because you have to be extremely efficient during this time. Because a lot of teams, they get into this idea that because it's a short week, I got to pair everything down and simplify everything, which you don't really have to. There's more than enough time to get in all of your necessary strategies,
Starting point is 01:11:01 adjustments, you know, specific to your opponent leading up to a Thursday night game and getting your team ready mentally, which I don't believe that defensively they were able to do. They were not. Because they got exploited, especially in the trenches. Even offensively, if it wasn't for Aaron Rogers playing at his top level, it's a dozy of a game offensively.
Starting point is 01:11:23 It would have been a blowout. No. If you don't have a Hall of Fame quarterback. So absolutely, this game I thought more than any time so far in his career, showed his youth because he just didn't have his team prepared and strategically nor mentally. Brady, take me to. I mean, it was strange. I mean, it almost felt like Philadelphia was running two run plays over and over and over.
Starting point is 01:11:44 What would you have done? What would you have gone to the sideline? Is that match responsibility when you just think, I mean, Philadelphia didn't even hide it. We're going to do this again. Well, I mean, the head coach, you have conversations with your defense like, hey, what are you guys going to do this week? You know? And yeah, it all goes through him because if he's like, I don't like what you're doing, this is what I like you to do, then you're going to do. then you're going to do it as a defensive coach.
Starting point is 01:12:08 I don't believe he has that relationship with petting. But here's the thing. You look at Philly in the first three games of the year. They did not commit to the running game like this. They did not block like this. So when you're petting and you're preparing your guys, you're more preparing for this offense. It's like a finesse spread offense.
Starting point is 01:12:25 It's going to run everything through Carson Wentz and all of a sudden they punch in the face. And you don't have a contingency plan. That's what to me bother me is like you, there are basically there are strong. Strategies in place called run blitzes. You know, Brady Quinn doesn't believe in them, by the way, you might want to ask them about that. But they do exist.
Starting point is 01:12:43 The run blitzes to where basically you're saying to your guys, look, we are going to send you anticipating a run. And we're going to just load you up and we're going to dare you to try to throw the ball, play action passes over the top. I did not see that all night. And that to me is like that's your ultimate line of defense. If you can't stop the run, because as we see, the run game is a slow death. If you can't stop it, it keeps your offense off the field. that takes your quarterback who's very dependent, as all quarterbacks are, on rhythm, puts him out of rhythm because he's cold sitting there on the sidelines
Starting point is 01:13:11 instead of getting back out on the field getting into his groove. So that to me was the problem with the defense is there was no contingency plan. I get it that, yeah, on film, you saw a whole different team. You prepared for a whole different team, but, hey, have something in place that if they're gashing with runs, that you're going to be able to say, hey, let's put that out so then we can go and figure out what else we're going to have to do because if you're going to commit to the run, then they're going to probably be passing over the top. So you've got to kind of play those against one another.
Starting point is 01:13:36 Brady Pupinga, eight years in the NFL, eight NFL season six with the Packers, Rams, cowboys as well, St. Louis Rams. I have always had kind of a rule as a talk show host. I'm not going to second guest coaches. And the reason is you sit and watch tape all week, I don't. Secondly, there's injuries that you don't disclose. You may have a left guard who's got an ankle bruise,
Starting point is 01:13:58 and you just can't run certain trap plays. I don't know that. There's all sorts of information you have, I don't, so nobody sounds dumber than a sports talk show host, second-guessing coaches. Sure. I would like to have seen on first down a running play by Green Bay first and goal. But they were Aaron. I like the ball in Aaron's hands.
Starting point is 01:14:17 Absolutely. They have huge targets. In Philadelphia had corners from Panera bread. Yeah, I get it. So I'm not going to crush Matt LaFleward. But you should, though. I should. Here's the reason why.
Starting point is 01:14:28 Because as a defense, if an offense starts to just throw the ball, throw the ball, throw the ball, you get into the mode of it's like seven on seven. We're going to play soft. Instead of a linebacker having to step up and respect the run, I'm going to just start right into my drop, which gives the advantage to a defense. So this whole mentality shifts, when you throw a run in there, and it's just, hey, I'm going to throw the run in there to keep you honest.
Starting point is 01:14:48 All of a sudden, the defense has to be like, ooh, I can't just bell out of my drop. You know, if you're a defensive line, and I just can't pin my ears back and rush the quarterback, I actually have to play honest. And it's just having that threat that that potentially can happen. And so what the base of the Packers did is they communicated to the Eagles, hey, we're just going to pass it the whole time. The Eagles were like, okay, yeah, you're going to pass it.
Starting point is 01:15:09 And they never once played that against it with the run to where you kind of catch them off guard. And that's all it would have to have been, just one time or two times in those eight plays, because there was two times they're down on the goal line where they, I don't know if the last one was four downs. Yeah, it was four downs. Both times was four downs. But anyway, if those plays, they could have ran at least one or two times just to keep the defense honest. Yeah. And that's all it does is keeps the defense from saying, hey, we're just going to sit if you're in coverage for the pass.
Starting point is 01:15:36 And if you're rushing the pass, we're just going to pin our ears back and go after the quarterback. So you should second guess on that. That's just principally doesn't make sense. Okay. That's fine. That's fine. I can take heat. So you're good.
Starting point is 01:15:44 You're good with that. All right. So I want to shift to the Cowboys. You know, I was saying that the great quarterbacks in this league, it's about how they deal with duress. Aaron Rogers had no running game, lost Devante Adams, was running for his life and was absolutely brilliant. That's a great quarterback. Dak has been pressured 10% of the time. It is easily the least in the NFL.
Starting point is 01:16:07 The running game's great. He's got grown-ups, Amari Kupil, Jason Witten, Randall Cobb, like grown-ups that run good routes. I mean, it's been comfort. Are you calling Jason Witton a grown-up because he's like 40 years old? Well, I mean, but I feel like DAC has, there's a lot of comfort here. Yes, yeah. You know, this hotel's in the best part of town.
Starting point is 01:16:24 It's got good bed. It's got good breakfast. Now you go to New Orleans. You've been there. You can't hear. Oh, boy. That's a whole different animal. You got Sean Payton.
Starting point is 01:16:33 Talk about Dallas now. And go back to your career, where you open the season with a couple of rebuilding defenses. Sure. Or rebuilding offenses. Then all of a sudden you faced a Pro Bowl quarterback, and it is go-karts to F-1, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:47 I think Dallas is going to have a little shock early, the noise, the pass rush. Go back to your own career. Do you think Dallas gets a little overwhelmed early in the step up in class? I don't think so. And he's been shown this ever since he was a rookie in that first preseason game against the Rams here in Los Angeles poised. And he's never looked rattled.
Starting point is 01:17:10 And everybody when you, and this goes with any offense or defense. The guy who mostly calls the plays is the kind of the personality that that unit's going to take because they're looking at him at every play. So if you get a guy who's calling a play who looks panicked and doesn't look poised. Kirk Cousms can be that. He's, oh, he's absolutely that way. He gets very rattled in the heat of the moment. And it kind of gets contagious. With Dak, he's calling to play every play.
Starting point is 01:17:36 And everybody's looking at him like, man, this guy's poised. He's coming. Okay, I can be calm and poised. And so I don't believe they're going to be rattled by the noise and all that kind of stuff. They are facing the best team in the NFL if Drew Breeze is healthy. Now he's not healthy. So you got, you know, that to deal with if you're the saints. But they will be poised.
Starting point is 01:17:53 I believe they're going to play well. You always can rely on the running game with them. because they're solid with the running game. I mean, you've got options there. Dak can do it, obviously, Ezekiel and those guys. But the crowd, the atmosphere, it's not going to affect Dak. Dak's poised, man. And I love Dak.
Starting point is 01:18:09 Yeah, he may have the luxury of a running game, but you still, think about it. You got to hand that ball off. You've got back to the defense. And then you've got to turn around and re-gather what kind of covers they're in. And then based off of that, where are my options? And right now he's doing that at a very high level, and he's going to get paid a lot of money because of it.
Starting point is 01:18:27 Yeah. By the way, you live in Los Angeles. Rams are an ugly 3-0. We were talking about LaFleur. There's an ugly 3-0, huh? They just haven't Todd Gurley. Well, yeah. Gurley, they're just wrestling.
Starting point is 01:18:38 Of all the 3-0 teams, I'll just say this. Buffalo 3-0, buy them? No way. Okay. Jared Allen is the guy just don't buy it. Or Josh Allen. Yeah, Josh. Josh, excuse me.
Starting point is 01:18:48 I don't buy him. I don't buy him. Why? He's too volatile. To me, he's like, in one moment, he goes out there, he'll run around, and he'll look like literally like Mike Vick. He'll throw a sweet pass. then all of a sudden he's thrown some stupid pass into quadruple coverage getting picked off in a situation where the reward does not equal to risk.
Starting point is 01:19:04 Or he's running it and diving into situations where he's, again, the reward doesn't equal the risk. So there's just, to me, there's too much volatility that quarterback position with Allen to where you can say, oh, yeah, in the heat of the moment against a really good team, which they haven't faced, in my opinion, a really good team. Right. I don't know if he's going to be able to deliver. Yeah, it is funny about quarterbacks. You do generally become what we think you are. and the knock on Josh Allen was, he's like this wild pony. Oh, he is.
Starting point is 01:19:30 He's from Wyoming, man. My home state. I saw him play Iowa in college. He was terrible. And then you'd watch him the next week. So to this point, he has not faced. It's been a very comfortable life because he hasn't been in shootouts. No.
Starting point is 01:19:44 But if Buffalo gets behind, Josh Allen's going to have to carry him. Okay, I want your Larry Allen story. Folks, Larry Allen's a mythical figure in the NFL. Oh, wow. Nobody saw him playing college football. I ask players all the time, who is the strongest toughest guy you've ever faced. And the answer is almost always Larry Allen of the Dallas Cowboys. He's unbelievable. So Brady, this guy could bench 600 pounds. You can go to YouTube.
Starting point is 01:20:07 Offensive linemen. And again, even on a great, he played with all these great players. But if you asked all the Cowboys, who was the scary dude, it would be Larry Allen. So tell me your Larry Allen of the Cowboys story. Okay. So we're getting ready to play with 49ers because he went from Dallas to the 49ers. And I grew up watching Larry Allen what he's with the Dallas Cowboys. So I remember, you know, Madden drawing a big circle. around his big rear end. Yeah, look at that. That's why this guy could move so many big players. I was like, okay.
Starting point is 01:20:33 So here we are. We're getting ready to play Larry Allen. And they were playing, so the film that we were watching of them, they were playing the Detroit Lions. And at the time, there was a huge defense to tackle by the name of Sean Rogers. He had to be 350. And literally, Larry Allen picked him up by his throat. I'm serious.
Starting point is 01:20:49 Up under his face mask, picked him up, threw him to the ground, like you ragdoll. I'm sitting there. We're looking at each other like linebacker's like, Whoa. That dude weighs 350. I weigh like 250. So I started getting like this little thought. I'm like, what if he grabbed me like that? That would be kind of scary, right? So fast forward to the game. We run out into Cattlestick Park.
Starting point is 01:21:08 It's a beautiful day. You know, he got the little moisture on the grass. It's a little under the water there on the bay. And all of a sudden, we're going through our warm-ups, listening to our music. We just hear somebody yelling at us. I mean, it is like yelling profanities. He's going to kill us. He's going to chew us up. I mean, it was like very kind of like graphic, his descriptions. And I look over and there he is. Larry flipping Allen.
Starting point is 01:21:32 And his arms were like tree trunks. His face is so huge. I swear he had fangs. It was just like, like you're saying a legend, mythological. It was like real now. You know, and that was his tactics. He would go and talk trash before a game. And that little clip of him grabbing Sean Rogers and tossing around and just started running through my head.
Starting point is 01:21:50 And so I go into the locker room and I'm scared. This is the first time in my NFL career and the only time where I was really, truly scared to play. Like, I was wondering if I was putting my life on the line. Literally. So we go out to the first play of the game. And I'm looking at where Larry Allen is. Okay, he's over there.
Starting point is 01:22:10 Okay, good. And sure enough, they snap the ball and they hand the ball off away from me to Frank Gore. So he's going this way. And guess who's going to have to come block me? Larry Allen. So here he is. Coming up the block me. And the best part is he has his arms out wide
Starting point is 01:22:25 And he's screaming as he's coming to block Like that I'm serious like a monster So in the split second As I'm getting ready to take him on I'm like dude This guy's so out of control I'm thinking this in the split side
Starting point is 01:22:37 He's so out of control I'm just gonna head fake him And he's gonna whiff air And I'm gonna run right around him Sure enough I head fake him He bites on the head fake Grabs hair I go around him
Starting point is 01:22:46 I get it on the play I jump up and I look at Larry out I go bro I go you are a lot more bark Then you are bite, buddy. Oh, mistake. And he was so upset about that. But then fast, dude, fast forward to this other play.
Starting point is 01:22:58 Third round at 15. We had a three-down linemen set, three linebackers, five defensive back. I was, they called me a floater. I could either be a rush or drop back in the coverage. This particular play, I was dropping back in the coverage. So I walked up right over Larry Allen, because I knew I was getting under her skin a little bit, and I go, here I come, big boy. I'm going to run you right over.
Starting point is 01:23:19 I'm going to stick my head right up in your chin. and he's looking at me up through his helmet with his face, just filling up the helmet. And he starts breathing harder and harder and harder. Like he's getting ready to take me on. And I just jabstead. And he comes at me. And sure enough, as he comes at me, our noseguard wraps around.
Starting point is 01:23:37 It goes right to the spot where he should have been and gets a sack. It was unbelievable. So he never got his hands on me. Two and O against the monster. Yeah, yeah. Let's hear for Brady. That was a great. That was a great story.
Starting point is 01:23:51 It's true, by the way, every bit of it. Oh, I believe it. I'm going to go to YouTube after the show just to make sure you're not BSing me. Brady and Panga Packers, Joy with the News. Great stuff, bud. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the Heard Line News.
Starting point is 01:24:05 I feel like you got out of both of those situations very lucky. Oh, I did. I was extremely lucky to get his big paws on me. Because if you would have, I probably would have been saying a different story. Stories were gone differently. So the Patriots offensive line has been hurting this season with losses of of David Andrews and Isaiah Wynn. And now it's taken another hit,
Starting point is 01:24:25 tackle Marshall Newhouse, who was starting in place of Isaiah Win last week, missed practice with an illness yesterday, and his status is uncertain for Sunday against the bills. Joe Thurney and Marcus Cannon have been battling shoulder injuries, but they did practice yesterday. And I also have receiver issues and Gronks retired. So it's a choppy unit.
Starting point is 01:24:44 Particularly the offensive line. Now, luckily they have an all-timer at the offensive line coach in Sarnakia, But, I mean, again, I'm not concerned about the Patriots winning this game in Buffalo because Tom Brady's going to do what Tom Brady does. But moving forward for the rest of the season, I mean, we've been talking about the Patriots offensive line injuries coming into the season. I feel like they just have the bug this year. Sometimes you just can't shake it. And it's looking like it's continuing. So instant replay on pass interference calls played a big part in last night's game.
Starting point is 01:25:13 Both the Packers and the Eagles lost their challenges on pass interference calls. And after the game, Matt LaFleur, Packers coach was asked about the officiating. and he kept his frustration short and sweet. I really don't know what pass interference is anymore, so I'll just leave it at that. This is pretty predictable that this was how these things were going to turn out once the rule changed that you could challenge pass interference. I thought that was past interference.
Starting point is 01:25:39 I thought it was. Wasn't it? I mean, we talk about it all the time that that's not fast interference, me. No, no, that one isn't. And it's when you put things in slow motion, it looks differently. Like that does look like fast interference. Joey, I get madder at the review being butchered than the call being butchered.
Starting point is 01:26:02 Like if you butcher a call, my thought is, the game's fast. If you watch replay, which I watch at home and can't get it right, I'm infuriated. So my argument with replay is show the fewest replays you can on the fewest plays because it just makes it makes you look less confident. And in slow motion, it's... You can't figure it out in slow motion? Right, but then also slow motion makes things look like something that they're not in the full speed of play. I don't want.
Starting point is 01:26:29 They did get it right on the overturned one because that was not offensive pass interference. But it's just, we're going to be dealing with this all year. And this is why we didn't want this to be changed. We overreacted to the Saints Rams. It's just ridiculous. Finally, a big topic in the current NFL CBA negotiations is the length of the regular season. Neither one of us wanted to change. The NFL was trying to expand it to 18 games.
Starting point is 01:26:54 Now they've scaled it back to a 17-game proposal. So sources say there weren't enough support to change it to an 18-game season. The preseason could also be shortened by a game or two to accommodate the longer regular season. NFL PA director, DeMarcus DeMorris-Smith, is against lengthening the regular season as our players and most of the owners because it's just not in the best interest of anyone. Does the league need more money? No. Okay. So we're doing this?
Starting point is 01:27:22 Well, they're not happy with the preseason as really nobody is. So they're talking about losing a preseason game, but then they have to make up for that revenue. Oh, God, please. So the conversation is, do they add another playoff game, which I would be okay with. I would be okay with a playoff game. Yeah, because that keeps more teams interested later into the season. Yes. Playoff games are more interesting to watch than a preseason game,
Starting point is 01:27:43 and it doesn't put players in a bad situation during having to play another regular season game. My opinion on all this is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Thank you. What is the issue? If you want to cut a preseason game, add another postseason game, or just cut the preseason down and turn it into a fan fest. Find another way to bring in that revenue. I would be okay taking 16 to 15 and adding two more playoff games.
Starting point is 01:28:07 Give me more urgency. Right. The shorter, that's what hurts baseball. July 1st, half the sports done. They got three months left. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Good stuff. Joy with the news.
Starting point is 01:28:18 Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping back. The herd-line news. I got to tell you something. New England has a crisis on their hands on the offensive line. They've got a crisis on their hands at wide receiver. And I think they can lose to Buffalo this week. I mean, it's incredible.
Starting point is 01:28:34 Albert Breer is going to be joining us next MMQB. He lives in the area. We'll address that. It is a mess. They brought in a quarterback because Brady now is so tired that they want Cody Kessler to just make snaps at practice. So the Invincible Patriots, they're springing leaks all over the place.

Sunday, a full slate of action is coming your way on Fox, highlighted by Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, taking on Matthew Stafford and the Lions, or in other regional action. Christian McCaffrey and the Panthers battled with Sean Watson and the Texans. Check local listings for the game in your area
Starting point is 01:32:43 or watch it on the Fox Sports app. Chiefs Lions is one of the matchups in the Super 6 NFL Sunday game this week, the new free-to-play game where you can win up to $250,000 of Terry Bradshaw's money. Colin, give me a winner and a final score. Chiefs win 2827, Kansas City's rush defense allowing six yards of carry. Detroit plays keep away, but Patrick Mahomes pulls it out. Good stuff. Close game.
Starting point is 01:33:08 Very, very close game. All right. Aaron Rogers was utterly brilliant last night. Top three games I've ever seen him play. But let's go to Albert Breer Monday morning, quarterback via the Coward Global Satellite Network. We've got a big problem on our hands in Green Bay, it appears. They can't score off the scripted plays. Albert, is it a concern?
Starting point is 01:33:28 McVeigh was a great scriptor early, has become a better adapter. What do you make a Green Bay second half issues? Well, Colin, I mean, there's certainly that reputation that offense has, that the idea is to get guys playing fast and take a lot of the mental load, off of the players on the field. That's why in a lot of cases, not so much in this one, but in a lot of cases, they give the protection calls to the center. It's why in some cases the quarterback has a double call,
Starting point is 01:33:55 which is just based on one single read. You make one read and then you get the play in. And so, you know, it's certainly something that's been a concern in other places this offense has gone in. I think we still need to give a time. It's only been a month. And, you know, I think we saw some of the things that Aaron Rogers can still do. off script last night.
Starting point is 01:34:16 And so I think they knew going in that it was going to take some time to meld all the improvisational stuff that Aaron Rogers is able to do. And just the mental roll decks he has from a football standpoint with an offense that's really based to simplify things on the quarterback and make him play faster. Yeah, that game could have been so ugly if the guy named Aaron Rogers wasn't playing for Greenback because Philadelphia looked bigger and stronger and Aaron was under total duress. Freddie Kitchens, if he unravels this week, if Cleveland, lose is ugly. I don't trust this organization. I don't put all the blame on Baker. They're not
Starting point is 01:34:49 putting them in a position to succeed. You think it's possible if they go on a losing streak here to Baltimore, San Francisco, Seattle, New England. Freddie could be in real trouble by the end of the year. I'm not ruling anything out of that organization because I've seen this in the past. But I do think that this is an interesting spot for Freddie Kitchens because I don't think we were ever going to know about his ability to manage personalities until we saw the crap hit the fan and now the crap's hit the fan. It's easy to be the leader of a group
Starting point is 01:35:18 in the spring or the summer when you're not winning and losing games. Now the dynamic changes. The good thing for the Browns is they're getting this test early and so we're going to find out a lot about Freddie Kitchens' program over the next few weeks.
Starting point is 01:35:30 And here's what's really interesting, Colin, if you want to look at it. John Dorsey's been a general manager now in two different places. And in both places, he's taken a lot of risks with the roster. Obviously, we saw it in Kansas City with guys like Tyree Kill and Kareem Hunt. Well, in Kansas City, he was handing all of those players to a guy who's got two decades
Starting point is 01:35:49 of experience in the NFL as a head coach. In Cleveland, he doesn't have that luxury. In Cleveland, he's got a guy who's a first-year head coach. And so I always thought that that was sort of the difference as far as John Dorsey taking risks in Kansas City and taking risks in Cleveland. I think Freddie's got the personality to handle it, too, just the way he connects with people and everything else. But there's certainly a lot in this plate and a lot of pressure on the Cleveland Browns and people in that organization with a very, very tough opponent coming up this week. This I have to ask you, O-line issues in New England, wide receiver issues, no gronk.
Starting point is 01:36:22 Brady now, Cody Kessler brought in to at least take practice snaps. I got to tell you, Albert, I don't think it's a little thing. Forget this week. I can see this team aging. This feels like an offense that's getting, that there's got to be some concerns. concern here, right? Well, as long as the defense is playing the way that it is, I think they buy themselves some time to figure it out. Now, remember, that defense isn't young either. There are seven starters on that defense that are 29 years old or older, and there's a 28-year-old
Starting point is 01:36:54 on top of that. So the defense has been great, fantastic, all that experience on locks who Belichick is as a coach. But, you know, you've got those concerns on both sides of the ball. On the offensive side, I would say my top concern right now is keeping Tom Brady healthy. We've seen in the past where he's been able to make it work with less. Go back and look at who he played with in 2006 when he got to an AFC championship game after they lost both Dionne Branch and David Givens in an offseason. I trust Tom Brady to figure this out. The biggest issue I think they have right now is they've got a 42-year-old quarterback and an offensive line that's replacing a lot of people. And don't let me tell you that the offensive
Starting point is 01:37:32 lines are concerned, Colin. Look at what Bill Belichick did. He traded for three offensive linemen in this summer. That tells you that he thinks it's a concern. He went to the Arizona Cardinals who have one of the worst offensive line situations in the league and plucked a guy off of their roster. They're telling us there's an offensive line issue there. And I think the biggest concern now isn't where they're going to be in week 12, week 14, week 16. If Brady's still upright, they'll be fine when they get there because Brady's always able to figure it out. The Patriots are always able to figure it out. Keeping Brady healthy to me is the primary concern for the Patriots behind an offensive line that, again, has serious issues.
Starting point is 01:38:08 One minute left, Monday morning quarterback Albert Breer. Daniel Jones, what are your sources saying? I was blown away by him. What are your people saying? This is who the Giants believed they were getting back in April. What Dave Gettelman and Pat Schumer liked most about him was how he took a pounding at Duke and he kept coming. He's got character.
Starting point is 01:38:27 He's got boys. This is the guy they thought they were getting out of Duke. This is the guy that they saw in the spring and the summer. And really, what gave them the first of the day. the comfort level, Colin, that they could go forward with Daniel Jones as their quarterback was the improvement on the offensive line. The offensive line is much better than it was last year. I know Shaq Barrett had a big game against them, but some of the investment they've made in the offensive lines really paid off. It's why they believed Eli Manning was going to play better
Starting point is 01:38:51 than he wound up playing the first two weeks, and it's why they feel comfortable putting Daniel Jones in there. But all the stuff that they saw against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, that's the stuff they expected to see based on what they'd seen from in the spring in the summer. Good stuff. Monday morning, quarterback, their lead guy, senior NFL reporter, Albert Breer, love your insights and your sourcing. Thanks, bud. Thanks, Colin. Yeah, that's a great point on New England. They made trades for the offensive line. This right now, Kansas City's defense is not good enough to win a Super Bowl. It's not. You're getting six yards a rush against Kansas City. You cannot win a Super Bowl when Patrick Mahomes is watching games on the sidelines. New England's offensive line and running game right now. Everybody's banging on Sony Michelle. It's not very good. You're not winning. a Super Bowl with that issue right now in New England, they're too reliant on Brady. So, you know, this is the thing.
Starting point is 01:39:39 When I watched Philadelphia last night, my takeaway is, oh, that team can win the Super Bowl. That team goes into Lambo and wins, and I got to tell you something about Aaron Rogers. That thing last night was, I just got a text from a guy that played in the league last year, Josh McCown. You know, Josh, the quarterback, I'm not going to tell you what he said. Very, very nice. Oh, oh, yeah. Oh, he is on the Eagles now.
Starting point is 01:40:00 Hell. He is a he just texting me. Well, that's why he said he was on the sideline. All right. He goes ahead of, that's why. And he was just saying, all I'll say is we were both like, these quarterbacks are good. These quarterbacks last night. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:40:23 Some believable. By the way, by the way, MDrive for Men.com, 20% off. Put in the code heard. M drive for men. Boost and burn. Elevates T-level. Burns Fat, M Drive. Want more herd?

Starting point is 01:40:59 Former Georgia Bulldog, in fact, he was the Outback Bowl MVP a few years ago, Brandon Boykin, played in the NFL for several years. An interesting route. You played for Andy Reed and Chip Kelly in Philadelphia. Then you played for Mike Tomlin of the Steelers. It's a pleasure to have you on the show. I thought Philadelphia last night could have used you in the secondary because they were all banged up. I do love their line play.
Starting point is 01:41:21 I thought they pushed Green Bay all over the field. Anything about the Eagles that concerns you, though? Definitely. I think they don't have a lot of bona fide playmakers on the outside of the receiving side right now. So we know about Carson Winson, like, when he's healthy, he's amazing, right? He's great. If you don't give him weapons, he might start trying to run the ball, right? If he runs the ball, more susceptible to injury.
Starting point is 01:41:46 If he gets injured, it's a rap. It's a rap. It's a rap. I'm going to say it's a wrap. Yeah, so and Deshaun Jackson, who you played against in practice every day, I think it's a point well taken. If you don't have Deshawn Jackson, they become a fairly limited. They don't have a big speed guy.
Starting point is 01:42:01 Now, I do love Ertz, but you can kind of bring a safety in the box and challenge them is what you're saying. I'm going to be honest. I didn't think Deshaun would be the feature guy right away, but it seems like it's kind of turned out that way. Obviously Alshan, Zach Ertz, they got weapons, but Nelson Aguilar, but these guys are dropping the ball for him. Like you said, the line is doing an amazing job. The protection is great. But for Carson to have 160 yards passing, that's not going to get it. You know, I want to talk about you, I want to talk about all your coaches.
Starting point is 01:42:37 I've always had this theory. If you look at Andy Reed's coaching tree, it's unbelievable. It's Harbaugh's, Doug Peterson's. He's got Super Bowl guy. Every one of his coaches works. And it's not, Belichick's guys don't work. And my theory is Bill has a skill that's not transferable. Bill is a savant, a football.
Starting point is 01:42:58 And he's a teacher. So you can, those are transferable skills. Andy's showing you leadership, his patience, his collaborative. Tell me about Andy Reed when you played with him briefly. I think he's the great football teacher of my life. I think there's a guy, the late Bill Walsh in San Francisco was that. When you played with Andy, did you notice his teaching skills? Oh, that was the first thing I noticed.
Starting point is 01:43:22 As a rookie for me coming into Philly, like I had no real idea. No rookie does about NFL football. So when I came in, there was a veteran nickel cornerback there named Ocelio Hanson. He was like the nickel there for eight years. People try to beat them out. Nobody ever beat them out. I come in and as a rookie, I'm a nickel corner from the University of Georgia. I'm playing good in camp, but Ocelio's been there.
Starting point is 01:43:44 I'm thinking he's going to be the nickel. Nobody's ever beat him out. They cut Ocelio the last day of training camp. Andy calls me in and tells me like you're the starter. You better get ready for, you know, what's about to come. Week one, we play the Baltimore Ravens. I got a guard in Corn Bowling. Oh, good luck.
Starting point is 01:44:01 Week two, I play in Arizona and got a guard Larry Fitzgerald. Week three, we play New York Giants. I got to guard Victor Cruz. So it's like, bam, bam, bam, bam. But like you said about Andy, the teacher that he is, he called me into his office. It was him, Todd Bowles. It was like a group beating because they're like, we got to really get this dude ready. And he broke down these dudes games so much.
Starting point is 01:44:23 It made them seem like pedestrian. He was like, Ancorn Bowden is slow. He's going to run hitches on first down, and he can do this, and this is the route. So I felt like overconfident when I got to the game. I'm like, okay, I'm ready to do this. And I had a good game, and I had a good game against Arizona. But what I was saying is that he, the teaching mentality of him to make you feel comfortable to the point where you're ready to play. And it's just another game.
Starting point is 01:44:47 Nobody's better than that. Matt Nagy's winning in Chicago. Sean McDermott and Buffalo's off to a great start. Ron Rivera's been to a Super Bowl. Doug Peterson won one one. So did John Harbaugh. coaching tree. His skills are transferable. He is the great football teacher to me in the NFL. By the way, Sean Payton's brilliant, but you can't transfer his intensity. And Bill Belichick's brilliant. It's hard
Starting point is 01:45:09 to teach his sort of savant-like understanding of every position. Brandon Boykin is joining us. Now let's go to Mike Tomlin. There's a lot of things I like about Mike. He's an alpha. He's a man's man. I think let's see he can play. He's a little loose for my taste. I think he lets players run things. Was that your experience or am I wrong on that? 100%. So for me coming from not just Andy Reid, so then I went to a Chip Kelly who, like, needed control of everything. And then I got traded from Chips regime to Mike Tomlin's regime
Starting point is 01:45:41 where it was kind of like, like you said, player-led, veteran-led, Ben Rothesberger, you know, James Harrison. You know, he got these veterans on the team that kind of dictate the tempo of things. And a lot of times, if I'm being honest, like, you know, practice was easy. Practice was really easy. And you kind of had to make yourself practice a certain way to be ready for the game on Saturday. In Pittsburgh.
Starting point is 01:46:06 Yeah, because the tempo was like, you know, we're going to get you to the game. You take care of yourself. We're going to get you to the game. We're going to go through our plays. But like you got to get what you need out of this because it's not going to be. So it was almost the exact opposite of Andy Reed. Well, yeah. Andy was fast.
Starting point is 01:46:24 Nobody was faster than Chip Kelly. Andy was fast. Nobody was faster than Chip Kelly, but going from Chip to Pittsburgh was just like a night and day. I want to talk about some individual players here. So Brandon, you played three years, Eagles, one Steelers, and then you leave the NFL, but you have had to guard to Sean Jackson every day at practice.
Starting point is 01:46:46 You have gone against top receivers. You have gone against top quarterbacks. I like some of Baker Mayfield, but he's 5.11 and a half. He runs a 4-8-40. I think he sees himself as more athletic than he is. Lamar Jackson's athletic. Brett Farrb was athletic.
Starting point is 01:47:02 Russell Wilson's athletic. Carson Wentz and Patrick Mahomes are athletic. Baker's a guy. I think he's getting a little exposed. What do you see? I think you're right. I think you're right. You say people are athletic until you get to the NFL.
Starting point is 01:47:17 Like everybody can run a 4-4. You know, the 6-5, 250-pound defensive end is running a 4-4. So it comes to knowledge now. And, you know, he has different guys on his team where that chemistry hasn't necessarily been developed. And we weren't talking about, like, how when you're playing a team like that with a lot of weapons, you're normally going to play zone. You're going to play zone coverage. So guys got to get open. And if you're not open, you're going to have to improvise.
Starting point is 01:47:45 And that's what Baker's doing a lot right now, trying to run out of the pocket, improvise and see guys being open. But like you said, he's 5-11. So, you know, it's interesting, too. I think OBJ is great. but you know this, is that Amari Cooper runs a really good route. OBJ is a world-class athlete. Now, they're both great. Some receivers are not quite as disciplined in their routes.
Starting point is 01:48:11 I think that's really hard in a young quarterback. In your years in the league in Philly, was Deshaun Jackson? Was he a disciplined route runner? Because I think what's happening with Baker is sometimes OBJ puts his own sauce on it. and you know Brady he wants to throw to you. He won't throw to you. Like if you don't run to the spot, Brady won't throw to you. Do you think it's possible that OBJ has been tough on Baker?
Starting point is 01:48:34 I think so, yeah. I think he has a lot of movement. And I played against people like that, like a Victor Cruz. He'd break down in his route and break down again. And then, you know, it worked for him because they had that chemistry. That chemistry is not there yet with OBJ and Baker. Good point. And he has to figure that out, right?
Starting point is 01:48:51 He's got to figure out. when the time is going to be. But OBJ, that's his game. Like you said, he's an athlete. He's going to do some crazy stuff with his feet before he gets out of that break. And they're going to have to learn on the fly, man. Brendan Boykin is joining us. When you look at this league right now and you look at the teams,
Starting point is 01:49:10 we have a ton of excellent young quarterbacks. And then we got, there's kind of like a bunch of old guys that are still good. Philip and Rivers and, you know, Breeze and Brady and Ben. Ben's getting old and all these guys. then you have a bunch of these young guys and Mahom still counts as a young guy. About the only guy in the middle now is Russell Wilson. He's not old and he's not young.
Starting point is 01:49:29 Because Andrew Luck was one of those guys and he retired. Of all the young guys out there, is there one young quarterback that just everything works for you? Like you're, you know, you got the mobility, you got the arm. Like what young quarterback are you like there? That looks like special. It's Mahon. Easily?
Starting point is 01:49:46 I mean, he's going to be the face of the league for years to come. Him and I'd say Lamar Jackson, is going he has a potential to get there right like i think he needs a couple more weapons um i don't think he has a problem throwing a ball down the field i think he's going to continue to get better like he is he's balling out right now right yeah the mobility is not a problem for him but like he even said like i don't want to run the ball like i want to be a quarterback i want to throw the ball so that's going come for him i think patrick mahomes lamar jackson are going to be the two faces of the league for years What do you make of Kyler Murray?
Starting point is 01:50:20 I can't get past this. He's 5.9.5. I can't get past it. He does. Now, I like, now I will say this. He and Russell Wilson are baseball players. So the arm is not the concern. But man, 5, 9 and a half in this league, those old linemen are 6'6.
Starting point is 01:50:38 You see Kyler Murray. What do you see? Do you like him? You know, I saw Kyler Murray at the college football Hall of Fame in Atlanta last year. And everybody was saying. he was like, this was before he got drafted. Everybody said he was like six feet. And I'm five, ten and a half.
Starting point is 01:50:54 And he walks past me and I'm like looking on top of his curls. And I'm like, there is no, there is no way this dude is five tier, right? But you see it now. Like balls are getting batted down. Yes, you do. He's already playing for an Arizona team that's kind of rebuilding. And your feature guy is Larry Fitzgerald who's 47 years. I'm just playing.
Starting point is 01:51:13 But he is old. But he is an older guy. And that's making it tough on him. What I think about him is that he's going to have to learn how to do whatever Drew Breeze has learned to do, which is find a way to throw the ball through the line and be productive. And whether that's getting the ball out earlier or I think it comes with just trusting your guys, but he doesn't have that right now. No, I think it's a really good point. Drew Breeze has figured out. Drew is also one of the best in the league at stepping up in the pocket. You know, they call it like recalibrating your feet, like moving left to right.
Starting point is 01:51:44 That's why you watch quarterback drills before a game. Breeze is he's moving up, he's recalibrating, because Drew can't sit in the pocket and throw darts. Russell Wilson, by the way, figured this out. I got to move the pocket so it works for me. Brandon Boykin, Georgia Bulldog. Notre Dame gave you guys trouble last week. Notre Dame is pretty good now, Brandon.
Starting point is 01:52:00 Were you surprised? I was. I was telling everybody, like, oh, the game's going to be over about halftime. You know, Georgia's going to run the ball down their throats. They really impress me. They impressed me a lot. And that game, Brian Kelly said it was the loudest game he ever coached.
Starting point is 01:52:14 He said it was so physical. Were you on the sidelines? I was, I was. I played at the University of Georgia. I played there four years. I've never seen a more exciting environment ever. And it felt like a concert. It felt like a Super Bowl concert, like before a quarter.
Starting point is 01:52:31 Yeah, it was. I love games in Athens. It jumped off the TV set. Great having you in Los Angeles. Great having you on our show, bud. Good to be here, man. Appreciate it. All right, Joy with the News.
Starting point is 01:52:41 No, no, no, no. Turn on the News. This is the Herdline News. All right, lists make the internet crazy, right? So Bleacher Report released their list of the top 50 NBA players of all time. Oh, Lord. Here's who topped the list. Okay.
Starting point is 01:52:56 Made the internet flip out. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kareem, Magic, Larry Bird, Shaq, Tim Duncan, Bill Russell, Wilts Chamberlain, and Steph Curry at 10. Where's Kobe? Where's Kobe? Kobe is down at number 14. A little Kobe disrespect there. I would not put David Robinson ahead of Kobe, and I would not put Steph today in front of Kobe.
Starting point is 01:53:23 I think, Steph Curry in six years, you can make an argument because he'll have some scoring records. But would you put Kobe below Steph Curry today? I would not, actually. My top 10 is Michael, LeBron, Kareem, Bill Russell, then Kobe, Magic, Shack, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan, and then Steph. And this is even considering that. Kevin Durant is not done with his career either, so he can move his way up into the top 10 as well, which I think he might. Let me see yours. Hold on. So yours is MJ LeBron, Kareem Russell, Kobe Magic, Shack, Bird, Duncan, Steph.
Starting point is 01:54:03 I think I'd put Barclay over Steph at this point. But, again, Steph's got five more years. Well, I wouldn't do that just because of what Steph has done to the game. Yes, you can certainly make that argument. So that's why I put stuff there now. And, I mean, when you get to list, once you start getting around 10, it starts becoming, like, a preference thing. I really feel like after five, it starts becoming a preference thing. But, yeah, Kobe's got to be higher than Steph right now.
Starting point is 01:54:26 If you had to build, this is funny, if I said to you, all time starting five, but you have to build a real team. Right. And they're playing by today's rules. You'd have to put Byrd on the team because Magic wasn't a shooter. Michael was a mid-range shooter. You'd have to have one three-point shooter. You'd have to have one three-point shooter, yes. So you couldn't put, you'd have to put Bird on it because Byrd was not only the best shooter in the league.
Starting point is 01:54:45 It's a great passer, so we'd get other guys open. Michael was not a great three-point shooter. But you're not going to not have Michael in your side. No, no, no. You're going to have Magic and Michael to the back court. Then I would put LeBron at the three, but you've got to have a shooter. So you'd, and the best shooter on the top eight players is Byrd. And then you'd go, whatever center you want, Kareem.
Starting point is 01:55:06 But I always say what's fun about this, create a real team starting five. And I think you end up going, we all would say magic. We'd all go. I don't know if everyone would say magic, though. So everyone's going to say MJ and LeBron. And from there, I think it just becomes an open. I mean, it's a great conversation, obviously. But.
Starting point is 01:55:23 And half over magic? I'm not saying better, but if you need a shooter, doesn't Steph solve two problems, he can shoot and he's a point card? Yeah. See, I know you shouldn't have put this in there. I can go 25 minutes on this. I mean, we do an entire show.
Starting point is 01:55:36 Kobe kind of got dissed. He did, though. It's Kobe disrespect for sure. So Tom Brady and the Patriots had the Buffalo on Sunday. We're all very excited for this game. We know it's going to be a hostile environment. Bill's mafia is going to be out in full effect, but Brady doesn't have a problem in Buffalo. He has 15 wins in Buffalo in his career, which is the fourth most of any quarterback,
Starting point is 01:55:53 including those who have played for the Bills. But despite that, Bill's tackle, Dionne Dawkins is not intimidated by the Patriots. He said, we don't care what they've done in the games before because they haven't played us yet. Once they play us, and if it doesn't change, then that's when you can all start talking. I love Brady and I respect his game and him as a player, but I got Josh Allen. That's really all I'm worried about is keeping that kid clean. I'm not even going to talk about this. I love it so much.
Starting point is 01:56:22 I love it because Belichick and Brady always make it a point to build up, especially Belichick, build up the opponents. All they've done all the week. We have to really be on our best. They're going to have a crazy environment, which they are. But then you come in and say that you know, you have Josh Allen so you're not worried. Look, I have no problem with him backing up his quarterback, but, you know, maybe scale it back. They haven't played us yet.
Starting point is 01:56:42 It is true, though. that they had not played this particular bill's team yet. I think New England's going to struggle to move the ball. But Josh Allen, he unleashes about two passes a game. You're like, no, not acceptable. They have massive offensive line issues, but the Patriots defense is incredible. So I'm still taking the Patriots to win.
Starting point is 01:57:02 I just think it's going to be a great game. Finally, the NFL announced this year's halftime performers. I'm very excited about this. I had a hunch that it was going to be Jay Lowe as at everyone else. But I wasn't expecting Shakira. So it's going to be Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. They're going to headline the Super Bowl halftime show in Miami, which we have on Fox. And I am super excited about it.
Starting point is 01:57:22 Now, I know neither one of them are from Miami, but this is obviously a nod to the Hispanic culture in Miami. It's two women. They're two international superstars. And now everyone's talking about the guest cameos because Miami has a lot of all-time great artists. Oh, God, yes. So, you know, Gloria Estefan, Pitbull, Trick Daddy, Trina. Timeout. Who's trick daddy? Just say with me.
Starting point is 01:57:45 DJ Laz, DJ Khalid, Rick Ross. Oh, Rick Ross. I know FloRida. I know FloRida. I know Rick Ross. Not great with that. What was the one you said I didn't know? Trick Daddy and Trina?
Starting point is 01:57:56 Trick Love the Kids. You know who Trick Daddy is. I'll play a song for you after the show. You'll know who he is. Anyway, can I say this? This be totally appropriate. If I said this, Shakira's hot. Is that okay to say?
Starting point is 01:58:05 Yeah, it's a consensus that Shakira is hot, yes. Oh, wait, Greg. Is that not appropriate? Gosh, she's fine. Shakir is hot. She is hot. This is going to be a great show. Jalo's at the absolute top of her game right now.
Starting point is 01:58:16 Jalo's like a CEO. I heard her talking last night on the game. Jailo's like a CEO. She's breaking the whole thing down. Listen, she sounded like she was the musical director of the event. No, Jalo does, this is what she does. It's going to be huge. Now, everyone wants to see Uncle Luke, which two live crew.
Starting point is 01:58:33 I think that he will make an appearance because here's a thing. Jalo gets Miami and so does Shakira. So there's going to be a cameo of one of these people that I've that I'm mentioning. And I really actually think Cardi B could make an appearance, too, because they were just in the movie Hustlers together. Do you know what people called me last week after I went 4-0-1-1 in the Blazing Five? What?
Starting point is 01:58:52 Trick Daddy. That's what they called you? A lot of people at home were calling me Trick Daddy. Yeah? Yeah. That's what Twitter's calling you, like Drip Bayliss? Uncle Collins' Trick Daddy. Trip Baylis.
Starting point is 01:59:05 Is that what he calls himself? Have you missed this? Yeah. Skip. Skip's got it going on right now. the Weasie gave in the chain and the Jordans, drip Ailes. If I have another good week,
Starting point is 01:59:16 Trick Daddy should send me something because if I have another 4-0 in one week. We should definitely have Trick on the show. No question. Are you done? Yes. Okay, that just went sideways for me. Shakir is beautiful.
Starting point is 01:59:28 Nothing against J-Lob. Joy with the News. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Line News. Okay, Jason McIntyre. Monday's headlines today. You know, I just love that segment.
Starting point is 01:59:39 I think it just makes me laugh. Be sure to count. Watch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app. Folks, stop using your wife or girlfriend's hair. Get your own. Dove men plus care. Range designed to give your hair the care at need. Stay strong. Resilient. Available at Walmart.
Starting point is 02:00:00 Okay, tomorrow's headlines today. Jason McIntyre used to work in the newspaper industry, and then he moved on to the interweb. And then he came over to Fox Sports Radio now. So we came up with this game where he predicts as a newspaper guy, the headlines on Monday. And we got some really tasty games. So here we go. Tomorrow's headlines today.
Starting point is 02:00:20 What will the headline be after the Brown's Ravens matchup? Cleveland Browns had some trouble, Colin, with that schedule. But I'm optimistic for Cleveland. I think the headline will be saved by Odell. Remember that show? The classic show from the late 80s early. Joy probably remember saved by the bell. I think this is an Odell Beckham game.
Starting point is 02:00:44 You remember last night the Packers made a concerted effort to get the ball to Devante Adams? He had not done well the first two games. Well, what happened with the Browns were playing the Rams in close by the goal line? Zero looks for Odell. This is an Odell Beckham game against a beat-up Ravens secondary. Ravens are very good, but they're a mess physically in the secondary. So last year, they were like the number three-passed defense, according to football outsiders. They're now number 20, and they face the dolphins and they face Kyler Murray.
Starting point is 02:01:10 and now O'Dell Beckham is playing with Baker Mayfield. Baker torched the Ravens past defense last year for two, 300-yard games. I think this is a get-well spot. I kind of love the Browns on the points, and Odell to have a big game, Colin. I don't think it's crazy. I took the Ravens, and my only reason I took the Ravens is because I think they'll just own time of possession. Because I think the Ravens O-line is really, really good. Guy to watch, though, Mark Andrews, the number one target, the tight end of Lamar Jackson,
Starting point is 02:01:39 has not practiced all week. If he's out, that's a big loss for Baltimore. All right, tomorrow's headlines today. DAC, first real test against the Saints. Cowboys fans all up in my mentions all week. Oh, we're the best. You're not giving us any respect. Folks, after Sunday night, the headline will be DAC to reality.
Starting point is 02:01:58 So sorry. Okay, the Cowboys have played three of the five worst defenses in the league to start the season. I know you went over those earlier. Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints, they've faced three playoff teams from last year. And they are tested. Are a early whistle, at least people in New Orleans believe this, they're an early whistle from being 3 and 0. This is true.
Starting point is 02:02:17 And look, okay, so last week in Seattle, you know Russell Wilson had been undefeated in September in Seattle? They were dominating that game. The Saints led 27 to 7. Yes. Okay, before Russell Wilson had a bunch of garbage time points. Listen, I get the best home field advantage in the NFL. Yes, it is.
Starting point is 02:02:34 And the Saints are underdogs. Okay, and the Cowboys haven't played anybody. I absolutely think Dak Craters here. year. I like the Saints to win outright at home Sunday night. I think New Orleans is defense. I massively underrated it. I was an idiot and took Atlanta to win the division, which of course won't happen. I've already given that up. And injuries are starting to mount. If you look at the Cowboys injury report, Zach Martin hasn't practiced all week. Great lineman. And Michael Gallup, who has been a big play threat. He has not. Amari's knicked up. I like the Saints here,
Starting point is 02:03:03 revenge for last year. Okay. I think this game is interesting. Tomorrow's headlines today. Kansas City of Mahomes, their first dome game for him in Detroit. Third road game in four weeks for the Chiefs. You're not hearing that a lot of places. That's a lot of road games early in the season. Interesting. All right. I believe the headline will be in the jungle, the mighty jungle.
Starting point is 02:03:28 The Lions win tonight. Classic. Come on. I'll tell you something. The Chiefs are giving up six. yards a rush. Can't stop the run? This game has a huge chance for an upset.
Starting point is 02:03:44 Carry on Johnson has faced the most eight-man fronts in the league to this point. Chiefs can't put an eight-man front to stop the run. I like the lion. So last year heading into the by week, they destroyed the Packers. I don't know if you remember that game. They led 14-0, led the entire way. Now they have the buy next week. I think it's a max effort from Matt Patricia against Andy Reid here.
Starting point is 02:04:04 I like the lions getting the points. Line has come down, by the way. But you know what? there are certain times certain lines tell you stories. For instance, USC plays Washington. USC just beat Utah and they're getting 10. Vegas is begging you to take USC.
Starting point is 02:04:21 They're begging you. Don't take the bait. Yeah. And so Washington's going to win going away. It's one of those. Vegas is like, please bet USC. So when I first saw this,
Starting point is 02:04:30 I thought, oh, they're begging me to take Kansas City. And then I started looking at the numbers and Kansas City can't stop the run. And hey, offensive lineman, Eric Fisher, their left tackle, injured all week, hasn't practiced. I think this is another Trey Flowers. They're big addition in the offseason. Listen, the Lions, they could win this game outright
Starting point is 02:04:50 and be 3-0.1. I know. That would be something. All right, tomorrow's headlines today. Kyler Murray and Cliff Kingsbury, can they get their first win at Seattle at home? I know a lot of guys at this network love Kingsbury, Kyler Murray.
Starting point is 02:05:04 Do they? It's just a TV. He's just a TV handsome-looking guy. It's early. It's ugly. The headline will be falling off a cliff with a K-K-L-I-F-F. I'm sorry. Russell Wilson just owns his team, okay? 5-0-1 in his last six in Arizona.
Starting point is 02:05:21 I don't like a lot about the Cardinals. Murray was sacked eight times last week. I know, I know. He's been sacked 16 times second most in the league, so they can't protect the quarterback. They can't defend the past. Their top two quarterbacks are down. I mean, this feels like a Seahawks team.
Starting point is 02:05:34 team coming off that loss, angry. And they go to the desert, and I think they put a herding on Arizona here. Now, the line, if you follow Vegas, it was three and a half, four. It's up to five and a half. I think we'll see a six. There's a lot of money on the Seahawks here. Yeah, the wise guys, yeah. You know, it's funny.
Starting point is 02:05:50 So I go to a dentist. My dentist is around the corner in Beverly Hills, right? So it's right next to the, it's right five minutes away from here. That's why I pick it. So I can go work here and then go there. And so famous people go there. Lawrence Fishburn, the actor, was there last time I was there, George Hamilton.
Starting point is 02:06:04 George Hamilton is legendary for he sits in the sun every day, and he looks fantastic. But just because George Hamilton sat in the sun doesn't mean you should sit in the sun. There are outliers. Russell Wilson, everybody's like five, ten quarterbacks can work. Is it possible Russell Wilson? Is just this all-time outlier? Kyler Murray is getting balls batted down at the line. It's like I still can't get over Kyler's size.
Starting point is 02:06:32 The arm thing doesn't bother me at all. I think he's got a great arm for any size. But man, we look at Russell Wilson. Well, Russell does it. Mansell couldn't do it. Johnny looks overwhelmed. Michael Vic would tell you it was a problem. I know you're good with the analogies, but George Hamilton and the son and Russell Wilson.
Starting point is 02:06:50 That's got to be one of your top five ever. Okay. Hey, by the way. George Hamilton. So last night, by the way, Monday's Trent Dilfer, Tori Holt, Colin Wright, Colin wrong. Let me ask you this. So for the Super Bowl, a Shakira. Smoke Show.
Starting point is 02:07:05 And J. Lo are going to do it, right? Okay. Okay. So, Joy, name all the Miami stars and tell me the first time you've never heard of them. Go ahead. So you'll see if there's one that you've never heard of them. All right. You name them, and when you say you haven't heard of it, all right, go.
Starting point is 02:07:20 Gloria Estefan. Of course. Miami Sound Machine. Pit bull. Come on. Give me a hard one, Joy. Trick Daddy. Yes, take it to the house.
Starting point is 02:07:28 What? Colin. Five, take it to the house. Yeah, that's a good song. I have that on my workout mix. I never heard it. I'm going to play it for you. I would be a surprise if you haven't heard of it.
Starting point is 02:07:36 I don't think Goulet has tricked daddy. Okay, give me a couple more. Trina. I don't know who that is. How about the other one? Is she a dancer at one of those diamonds club? No, she is not. DJ Las.
Starting point is 02:07:46 No clue. DJ Khalid. I've heard of that. You know it rhymes with salad. It does. Rick Ross. Yes. Slow rider.
Starting point is 02:07:54 Oh, yeah. He's so underrated, by the way. So I never heard a trick daddy and you'd never heard of Trina. I don't know what Trina is, yeah. City Girls? Don't know City Girls. Is that a song or a group? Uncle Luke?
Starting point is 02:08:07 Of course. T.J. Hushmanzada. Two live crew, baby. Time out. Let me ask you. Oh, yeah. Hushmanzada's in the building with them.
Starting point is 02:08:13 Whitlock, you sit at home all night. You don't know who Trick Daddy is. Yeah, do. Yeah. Of course. Of course. 305, the mayor. What does that mean?
Starting point is 02:08:23 Trick Daddy is a, I'll play a song for you. I have faith in you that you've heard the song. What about Trina? Yeah. Diamond Princess. What about Trick Trick, Trick? asking anybody in Detroit about trick-trick. My wife's from Detroit. Trick or treat.
Starting point is 02:08:38 Halloween's around the corner. I also said that it could be possible that Cardi B makes an appearance. I heard of Cardi B. I'm familiar with her work. I thought she retired. Have you seen that movie? No, that's Nikki Minaj. Is Hustler's good?
Starting point is 02:08:51 It is good. It's based on true story. It's a great story. Yeah, it looks like a good story. Okay, Jason McIntyre. Hey, take some M Drive, a burn fat, although you're like 17 years old. How old are you? 18 tomorrow.
Starting point is 02:09:02 Okay. MDrive for Men.com, Refine Your Prime. See, I know most of the stuff. So, Cardi B had a tough upbringing but flourished and spends a lot of money. And then I've heard her stories about her personal wealth. And then who's the other one that retired?
Starting point is 02:09:18 Nikki Minaj. Now, but she didn't. She apologized for retiring. Well, because she just put a tweet out. She's not retired. She wants to have a baby and start a family. She'll be back in a couple years, I'm sure. Good intel.
Starting point is 02:09:31 I'm not that. Square. Trick Daddy. Okay, I missed it. You might not have. I still have faith in you. I'm play a song in the break. I told her, if I go four and one of my blazed and five, I'm trick daddy.
Starting point is 02:09:41 Oh, ooh. Braggie. Yeah. That's what I heard. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. And nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where sports slice comes in.
