Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.

Yeah.
This is my best friend, Janet.
Hey.
And we have been joined at the hip since high school.
Absolutely.
A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip.
Just a little bit bigger.
hips. This is a podcast we're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my
Honda Odyssey with all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer?
Oh, they hit a bogo. Well, then you got it. Listen to soccer moms on the Iheart radio app,

Now let's get this party started.
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Ah, on a Wednesday, this
is The Herd.
Wherever you may be and however you may be
listening live in Los Angeles,
IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio,
and FS1, Joy Taylor, is
joining me on a lively
Wednesday. I hate to break it to Skip.
I think Skip knows this. Lakers win in a trounce
tonight. They'll be 15 and 9. Joy,
How are you?
Good morning. I'm doing great.
We'll get to the LeBron stuff in a minute.
I want to start with something.
One of my favorite things about this business is when, you know, we broke a couple
stories this week, but that's not my favorite thing in the business because I'm not
really, you know, I'll break three or four stories a year.
Whatever.
I'm not a reporter.
You know, I mostly talk and stuff and give opinions.
But it is fun when Joy and I talk about something and we have kind of a belief or a theory
and then the next day it plays out.
And it makes you feel pretty smart.
So yesterday I spent a significant amount of time on the show saying the problem with the Packers organization is they have no owner.
And because they have no owner, no other team in pro sports has this.
They have no owner.
So the star legendary quarterback, Brett Farr, or Aaron Rogers, become too powerful.
Nobody can hold them accountable.
I mean, with Tom Brady, there's a billionaire above him.
Drew Brees, there's a billionaire above him.
Eli Manning, there's a billionaire above him.
Carson Wentz is a billionaire above him.
Aaron Rogers, he's a richest guy in the state.
He's a richest guy in the town.
He's the most powerful guy.
I think it's a problem.
Nobody holds him accountable.
So here's a prime example.
Yesterday, Winston Moss, he's an outside linebacker coach for the Packers.
Not even the linebacker coach.
We'll just give you the outside linebackers.
Not a real powerful guy, right?
Former player.
He put out a tweet, which is completely offensive.
I mean, nobody would be offended.
by this. So he went to Twitter and he put out a tweet and the tweet says, ponder this.
What championship teams have is great leadership, period. It's not the offensive guru trend.
It's not the safe trend. Find somebody that's going to hold number 12 and everybody in the building
to a Lombardi Stanford standard. That's all he said. That's it. Hold number 12 and everybody in the
building to a Lombardi Stanford standard. And they fired him. Two hours later, they ran him out of the
building. You got to be kidding me. People are walking on eggshells. They did it with
FAR if they're doing it with Rogers. And here's what's amazing. Belichick has never
cowered at Tom Brady. Remember a couple years ago it was Brady's birthday? Somebody asked Belichick
about it. And Belichick said, well, yeah, it'll be that guy's birthday tomorrow and that guy's
birthday tomorrow. He wouldn't even celebrate Brady's birthday. Belichick never cowered to Brady.
Cam Newton's coach called him out a year after the MVP. Remember they said that? He's got a
stay in the pocket more.
You know, Cam Newton's got to be more accountable.
Russell Wilson's coach Pete Carroll called him out this year.
He's playing too Lucy Goosey.
His teammates called him out in the ESPN magazine.
And John Gruden called out Derek Carr a month after he got the job.
Star quarterbacks, star quarterbacks around this league are constantly held to a standard,
have to be accountable, called out by their coaches.
Not just any quarterback, Cam Newton.
Derek Carr, Russell Wilson.
I mean, they're called out by their coach.
I remember the former GM of the Colts once called out Andrew Luck for making too much money.
And an outside linebacker coach says, we got to hold number 12 and everybody in this building do a Lombardi standard.
Ring, ring, ring, hello, you're fired.
What?
This reminds me of Westbrook and O KC and Shaq in Orlando.
Sometimes you get superstars that are so big in a small town,
that everybody is walking around on eggshells.
They call this relationship addiction
when there's an uneven power balance
in a relationship between a man or a woman.
And the woman or the man is addicted to their relationship
and will do anything to please their partner
because the relationship's uneven.
She could do way better, he could do way better, whatever.
I saw it with Shaq and Orlando.
I see it with Westbrook and O'KC.
and I see it with legendary Green Bay quarterbacks,
Farr of an Aaron Rogers, in Green Bay.
You're going to fire an outside linebacker coach
after an innocuous tweet saying we should hold number 12
and everybody in this building do a Lombardi standard.
That gets a run out?
I mean, I got to tell you something.
Whoever gets this job, this head coaching job in Green Bay,
you better bring in a strong personality like Josh
McDaniel.
You know, Joe Philbin doesn't have that personality.
That's not an even relationship.
Philbin's just going to try to make Aaron Rogers happy.
In fact, my opinion yesterday is Joe Philbin's not strong enough for the job.
He literally fired that outside linebacker coach because he didn't want to make Aaron mad.
That's the problem, not the solution.
Somebody needs to make Aaron Rogers mad.
Somebody needs to hold number 12 accountable.
Okay.
Josh McDaniel screams at Brady.
Belichick doesn't cower to him.
Teammates and a coach call out Russell Wilson.
The coach calls out Derek Carr.
I mean, come on now.
This is an unhealthy relationship between iconic quarterback and an onerless organization.
And they ran off an outside linebacker coach yesterday because of an innocuous tweet week.
All right, tonight the Lakers are going to beat San Antonio, probably handily, and go to 15 and 9.
Outside of the Warriors, overnight, there is no number two in the West.
Why not LeBron?
So there's been some talk this week about LeBron doing too much.
Magic Johnson will show you the quote here on TV, said this week,
we're trying to make sure that we watch LeBron's minutes.
We don't want to run everything through him because, you know, then it's Cleveland all over again,
and we don't want that.
And then Kobe Bryant talked about LeBron being too big of a part of the franchise.
And Kobe Bryant came out and said, listen, they were struggling.
They got Braun the ball, decided to start playing point, doing everything.
That's not the recipe for winning championships, but it's a recipe to keep your head above water.
And LeBron responded to both Kobe and Magic saying,
we don't want to go too heavy into LeBron because that's not going to win his titles.
It may win his games.
Here was LeBron.
I understand with Magic and Colise.
Kobe is saying because we want to continue to grow to young guys.
Magic and Kobe know who I am.
I know who I am.
They know what they're going to get out of me.
I played a game seven in the finals,
and I damn they played every minute of it.
Last year, I played every single game.
All right.
So tonight, I just want to give people an understanding
if you realize what's going on.
Because Michael Jordan went six for six,
the way sports fans are, you'll never give LeBron
the goat.
But he is the most impactful player ever.
He is oxygen.
Everybody else, including Michael Jordan, is calcium.
We could all use more calcium.
Doctor never says less calcium.
We could all use more calcium.
But you can live with a little less calcium.
Try living without enough oxygen.
I want you to think about this.
So the calves made the finals last year with LeBron.
The calves are now 5 and 18.
without LeBron. The Lakers had the worst winning percentage in the league for five straight
years. They are now on pace tonight to win their 15th game, 15 to 9th and went over 50.
Now, I want you to think about this big picture. When you think of all-time grades and
impactful the word impactful, oxygen, Will Chamberlain is considered one of the most
impactful players of all time. Wilk Chamberlain. I want you to think about this.
Wilk Chamberlain left the Philadelphia 76ers in 1968 and joined the Lakers.
The Lakers only won three more games when they added Wilt, and the Sixers won 62 with him and
55 without him. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar left the Milwaukee Bucks. They were 38 and 44 with him.
They were 38 and 44 and actually made the playoffs without him.
Michael Jordan, Chicago Bulls, 57 wins.
With him, he left.
55 wins without him.
The Cavaliers made the finals.
They are now the worst team in the league.
The Lakers were the worst team over a five-year stretch.
They're now the second best team in the West.
You can certainly make that argument.
There has never been a player like LeBron.
Do you realize that North Carolina,
even in college with Michael Jordan.
Michael Jordan left North Carolina, the Tar Heels.
The following year, they went further in the NCAA tournament without Michael Jordan.
He's great.
Michael Jordan doesn't have nearly the impact of LeBron James.
LeBron James has simply left the Eastern Conference.
Ratings are down 20%.
He just left, he didn't leave the NBA.
He just left the East, went to the West.
The ratings are down for all those exciting teams.
Boston, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, big markets, right?
Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, big markets, Toronto.
Oh my.
Down 20%.
I mean, Kevin Durant left the thunder.
They went from a three-seed with him to still a sixth seed.
Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving, stars for the Celtics.
Gordon Hayward got hurt in the first game.
Kyrie Irving wasn't around for the playoffs.
they still got to game seven of the Eastern Conference finals.
The great Janus has never won a playoff series.
The great Anthony Davis has won.
One.
Folks, all these great players, Will, Jabbar, KD, Michael Jordan, they're calcium.
We could all use a little calcium in our diet.
A little more.
LeBron is oxygen.
You can't breathe.
without him. So when the Lakers go to 15 and 9 tonight and the Cavaliers finish with the worst
record in the NBA, remember those numbers with wilt in the Sixers, Jabbar in the box, Michael
Jordan with the Bulls in North Carolina, KD with OKC, Anthony Davis, Janus, there has never,
ever, ever been anyone even remotely close to LeBron in terms of impact.
Baseball has a stat called war, wins above replacement.
Basketball uses it now.
LeBron's one, MJ's two, and it is a huge gap between one and two.
coming up next, a rumor that I think has real legs on Jim Harbaugh.
That's coming up next.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the I-Hard radio app.
Cold and flu season.
Try Vic Synex nasal spray.
Use is directed up to 12 hours when congestion strikes.
So this is a story.
Now this week, a couple weeks ago we broke the story in Urban Meyer.
We told you he was leaving.
We were right.
We broke it done.
Cliff Kingsbury, we broke the story yesterday.
He's going to USC.
I got good college contacts on this stuff with agents and stuff.
I'm not really a story breaker.
But I will tell you, there's a story I heard yesterday from two different sources.
Jim Harbaugh's put his name out for NFL teams.
Now, just hold off before you freak out.
Chris Carter also had that.
morning on First Things First.
Here you go.
I'm just going to tell you guys a name.
Watch out for Jim Harbaugh.
Because Jim Harbaugh potentially is trying to get his way out of Michigan.
All right?
I got good sources that are telling me not only Green Bay,
but also watch out for the Cleveland Browns.
He likes the quarterback situations there.
And I believe that there is front office people in Green Bay
who are enamored with Jim Harbaugh and potentially trying to get him to come to Green Bay.
I've heard the same thing that Harbaugh and Brian Kelly at Notre Dame have put their names out there for NFL teams.
Now let me just stick to Harbaugh for a second.
Here's what I think is happening.
Here's what I believe is happening.
Nick Saban five years ago lost a game to rival Auburn that he should have won.
And for the first time in his Alabama tenure at the time, he got pushback.
Some of the boosters, he was hurting here.
A little pushback.
And Nick Saban thought, what hell are you talking about?
You guys were a train right before I got here.
So Nick Saban sent his wife to Austin, Texas to look at houses.
He called his agent Jimmy Sexton, get the word out, I'm looking, and it freaked Alabama
people out.
And Nick Saban had the most leverage of his career.
He got his house paid off.
He got some investments paid off.
And he got a lifetime deal.
The minute they doubted Nick Saban, he went looking and freaked out the people at
Bama.
So Jim Harbaugh, similarly, everybody in Michigan loves him.
they really love him this year,
and he loses ugly to his rival, Ohio State,
and he's getting a little pushback.
People in Ann Arbor, Big Boosters,
athletic director, and Jim Harbaugh's like, time out.
You guys were a grease fire before I got here.
You think you get better than me?
Harbaugh puts his name out.
Story leaks out, and the Michigan people are like,
whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, we love you, we love you, we love.
Wouldn't be shocked if I saw an extension to Harbaugh and Michigan.
I don't think he wants to leave Michigan,
although I think he worked in the NFL and he'd work again.
He's a lot better than about half the coaches easily in this league.
Maybe not Belichick, maybe not Sean Payton, maybe not Pete Carroll, but he's a good football coach.
And his style worked in the NFL.
So that's what I think is happening here.
Do I think he'd be a great fit in Green Bay?
Well, he's certainly strong enough.
I'd love to see it.
I'm rooting for it.
I think it'd be the greatest thing in the world.
I would literally put money in.
I would pay for it if I could.
I'd buy lunch for the rest of his tenure at Applebee's in Milwaukee for Jim Harbaugh.
I would die to see this happen.
He and Baker Mayfield be interesting too.
But I don't think it's going to happen.
But I think this has a Sabin feel five years ago.
You lose to a rival.
You get a little pushback.
And when these iconic coaches get pushback, they want to flex and say,
oh, you think you can do better than me.
You call your agent or you call somebody to make connection.
You get the word out.
Then your university, your A.D.
Your fans are like, okay, sorry, sorry, sorry.
Sorry, Nick, sorry, Jim.
Let us crawl back.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Don't be shocked if you're an extension for Harbaugh soon.
Joy Taylor with the news.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the Herdline News.
Well, someone who won't be fighting Harbaugh for that Packers job is Bruce Ariens.
Because since the Packers Society depart ways,
it's like McCarthy.
There's been a lot of names mentions.
Yeah.
his potential candidates for their next head coach,
one of them being Bruce Ariens,
and Ariens was recently asked about his interest in the gig.
Take a listen.
Would you have any interest in the Packers job?
No, not at all.
Why would that be?
If I ever returned coaching, it would only be in Cleveland.
Okay.
That's interesting, you know, the love affair for Cleveland
because, you know, the Packers are a really good situation with Rogers.
Yeah, it is, and it just, I have no desire to coach at Green Bay.
that's kind of interesting.
Well, I will tell you this.
There are jobs that sound big and sound great, but are not that great.
Well, Bruce Ariens isn't in a position where he has to get a coaching job.
So it's really up to him at this point.
And he was the Brown's offensive coordinator from 2001 and 2003.
So this is not a job he wants.
How many people say in the NFL?
I couldn't see Bruce Ariens with Aaron Rogers, though.
Oh, I couldn't either.
I don't think that's a good mix.
I don't know if Bruce Ariens would be great with Baker, maybe.
Field. I don't be honest with you. He's a little old school.
Man, he's a little. I mean, Bruce is fun, but he's a lot of work. I mean, he's going to get
right after you. Yeah, I mean, he's a good coach. I just don't, I just don't think that
those personalities mix with them, especially Baker. So the Steelers have lost some of the momentum
recently after dropping their last two games and things have become a little bit more challenging
now because James Connor is now out for this week's game against the Raiders.
Mike Tomlin said yesterday they'll be doing a running back by committee approach, and here's
his explanation for that.
That is our intentions as we sit here, but we have a preparation week in front of us
and sometimes the vision of labor is revealed to you through that work.
We got a great deal of confidence in Ridley.
We got a great deal of confidence in Jalen, particularly of late with Jalen.
He's a guy that's been on the rise in recent weeks.
We've talked about it in here.
And Trey's a guy that's played some pro football.
We were excited about getting him on our practice squad when we acquired him.
And so we'll put him in uniform and give him an opportunity to be a contributor as well.
By the way, you know, Pittsburgh, you're from Pittsburgh, and I love watching the Steelers play.
Can I just mention something?
Who have they beaten?
Lost to Kansas City.
Lost to the Chargers.
Lost to the Broncos.
Split with the Ravens.
Now they have a running back hurt.
Now they're a two-game losing streak.
Now Big Ben's talking more.
This feels like, honestly, this Pittsburgh team, and I love them.
I mean, Pittsburgh's the team every week.
I'm like, where are they playing?
all their games are exciting.
I'm not from Pittsburgh.
I have no connection.
Love watching the Steelers play.
Absolutely.
In fact, Patriot Steelers, I generally,
you kid yourself, if I had to make a choice on most Sundays,
because it would be the Patriots against the Bills or the Jets.
It would be like the Steelers against the Ravens or the Chargers.
It doesn't matter who the Steelers play.
They're going to make it interesting.
It feels like it's just all wobbling toward the end.
New England's getting better, tighter, healthier.
and Pittsburgh's getting unhealthy, losing streak.
Ben's talking more.
God, you can just see the inevitable.
Here it comes again.
I really hope not because, like I said,
at the beginning of the season,
I don't know how much more of a window this particular group has.
And this season, it felt like it was a must-win season for this group.
And now Leveon Bell is no longer in the group.
Doesn't it feel familiar, though?
Ben's talking two-game losing streak, running backs hurt,
losing the teams.
It just, the noisiest team
in the league over time is a,
you can see it right now.
They're unraveling.
I just don't like it this part of the season
for this to be happening because when you get into
the playoffs, I mean, just like last week, the way the last
week's game ended, it's just undisciplined.
And you can't make mistakes like that
against good teams. You're not going to get
a second chance. That's big for anybody who's
in fantasy football playoffs, so you want to look up
Samuels and Ridley there. And finally,
we've had some NBA stars that have been
somewhat reluctant to join forces with
LeBron due to the pressure that comes from it.
Yeah. And Kevin Durant, who's
been rumored to come to the Lakers
during Free Agency next summer. We even have a
Kevin Lebrant's
meter. We do on the show now.
This is going to be very low after this comment, I think.
What? Why? So Kevin told Bleacher Report
that he understands why certain stars
might not want to play with the king. He said
so much hype comes from being
around LeBron. He has so many fanboys in the media.
Even the beat writers just spawn
over him. It's not even about basketball
at certain points. So I get why anyone
wouldn't want to be in that environment because it's toxic.
Hold on.
He has so many fanboys in the media.
That's what I call people, fanboys.
He listens.
He stole your word.
By the way, I think Kevin Durant's the second best player in the league.
Am I a fan boy of Kevin Durant?
No.
I mean, I would say I think there are definitely some LeBron fanboys.
Am I a fan boy?
Of LeBron?
I wouldn't call you a fan boy because I think you,
you take the, I think you're critical of LeBron when you need to be.
And I've said he's a little dramatic.
I mean, there's some drama with LeBron.
He sometimes he, you know, there are times that he's like big band.
It's like, there's no need to go there.
It's kind of a, there's a little dramatic.
I don't know if it goes far to fanboy.
You're close.
If we had like a fan boy meter, you're closer to fanboy than not.
Okay.
But I definitely think there are some fan boys of LeBron in the media.
But so what?
Like, I'm sure there were, there were Jordan.
fan boys. He's the biggest star on the NBA. Of course it's going to happen.
I want Kevin Durant on my show so badly.
But this is a big quote for free agency.
I think it's a great quote. You know what, man? I'll say this for Kevin Durant. He's got
something to say. I got Aaron Rogers yesterday saying I can't believe Mike McCarthy
was fired. I was as shocked as anybody. Oh, hell you talking about.
At least Kevin Durant's authentic. I mean, Kevin Durant just... I have no problem with him saying this.
I just think this is going to be put into the category of reasons why he's not coming to out of Atlanta.
All right. Fair enough. That's fair. All right.
The Kevin LeBrant meter.
You know, we're starting the, we've already started the meter.
This kind of, this cools the meter a little bit.
All right. Joy Taylor with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The herd lie news.
No, I mean, nobody can be honest these days in sports.
Everybody's protecting their brand. Everybody's protecting their money.
I mean, Aaron Rogers came out yesterday.
literally said, I was as shocked about Mike McCarthy as you.
Oh, good hell.
Stop.
Kevin Durant's like, yes, LeBron thing is a little toxic, a bunch of fanboys in the media.
That's fantastic.
Let's go to New York.
Nick Wright, my buddy, first things first, be the Coward Global Satellite Network.
Okay, Nick, you and I, I mean, we'd be way up there on the fanboy thing.
It's like he was taking a shot at us.
What did you make in the comments?
This is the second thing Kevin Durant's called me directly.
He called me a blog boy on Bill Simmons podcast by name a year ago.
And now I feel like he is saying this directly to me.
I know Katie watches first things first.
He's texted a guest on the show mid-segment to respond to some of the things we were saying.
But don't get bullied by Kevin Durant here, Colin.
Don't all of a sudden say, oh, well, I have been, like, hold on.
And did you just say one of the things you're respected about Kevin Durant is his authenticity?
Yeah.
Which fake Twitter account was he using when he was being authentic?
I'm just curious.
Like, I don't know.
I missed that one.
Kevin Durant doesn't want to be, oh, all the fanboys in the media falling,
the beat writers falling all over LeBron.
Yeah, I can't imagine what that would be like if the local paper once criticized you
and then printed a retraction the next day.
Oh, wait, that happened to you.
Oklahoma City. I can't imagine what it would be like to have such a lion's grip over the people
covering you locally to where the day after you have a fallout with Draymond Green and
they ask you a question about it. You can look them in the eye and say, do not ask me about that
again. And they then do not ask you about that again. This is, Kevin Durant was being very
authentic and honest in that moment. Unfortunately, that, I have no reason to believe the authentic
honest Kevin Durant that logs on to the Graham later tonight will feel the same way.
But point taken, Katie, I get it.
By the way, we introduced the LeBrow meter yesterday and the Kevin LeBrand meter yesterday.
So our Kevin LeBrant meter, we're showing it now, is very low on Durant coming to Los Angeles.
You know, Magic and Kobe in the last week have talked about Nick.
They've talked about the workload.
And Magic and Kobe are, they're smart dudes.
They get it.
And then LeBron said, you know, my workload is what it is.
I play game seven in the NBA finals every minute doesn't matter.
What do you make about Kobe and Magic's comments and about LeBron's workload right now?
Okay, so I think the comments are very different, actually.
I think Magic is talking about minutes and how much he's actually on the court as LeBron is averaging a career low in minutes.
Now, I wish people would listen to LeBron.
He has said for the better part of a decade,
It is not about minutes, it is about games, that his body feels the same if he plays 30 or 40 minutes.
It's about getting himself ready to play and actually playing.
So, LeBron is told anyone that will listen, it's better for him to play high minutes but have five to eight games off during the year,
then low minutes and play all 82.
Now, of course, last year, he played high minutes and also played all 82, then 22 in the playoffs as he averaged 33, 9, and 9.
the greatest playoff run in NBA history, but I digress.
But that was out of necessity.
Kobe is talking about the offense running through LeBron at the end of games.
And Kobe, since he's just on a total historical reinvention of his own career,
he is talking as if that's something that he thinks is bad for teammates
and that if he were on the team, he would give a damn what was bad for teammates.
But I'm also digressing once again.
I understand the concern that if everything runs through LeBron
at the end of games, is Brandon Ingram going to get the crunch time experience?
Is Lonzo going to get the crunch time experience?
But the reality is this.
The best experience for those guys is the playoffs.
And the best way for the Lakers to make the playoffs is to not blow games at the end
the way they were the first two weeks of the season.
And LeBron isn't Kobe.
He isn't Russ, as much as I love Russ.
He will look for you at the end of games.
Their last bad loss, the lost to Orlando, a 12-30 start time in Los Angeles.
on a Sunday a couple weeks ago,
104, 104, late LeBron
drives and kicks to
an open Josh Hart. He just missed the shot.
It is, he will get other guys
the ball, but Brandon Ingram was the
number two pick of the draft. He has scored more than
26 points once since he left Duke.
Lonto Ball was the number two pick of the
draft. He has, I think, regress
slightly this year. Their talent,
their ability,
is their responsibility.
These games count now.
You cannot be sacrificing
games to try to get these guys going.
These guys need to get themselves going.
LeBron's the greatest teammate we've seen of this era.
He'll find them if they get themselves going.
By the way, so an outside linebacker coach had kind of an innocuous tweet, got whacked in
Green Bay.
He said, listen, we got to hold number 12, and everybody here to a Lombardi standard,
losing his word sucks.
And he got run out of the building.
I've always said Green Bay doesn't have an owner.
So whereas Belichick and Kraft hold Brady responsible, where Russell Wilson got called out by Pete Carroll and defensive teammates,
Andrew Luck got called out by a former GM, Derek Carr got called out by Gruden.
Nobody really in Green Bay holds Farr or Rogers accountable.
They run the franchise and everybody walks on eggshells.
So the story comes out this morning from your Chris Carter about Harbaugh, who doesn't walk on eggshells with anybody and the Packers potentially.
how does that land for you?
Your thoughts?
Listen, there's an old clip from when I was filling in for you one day
that has been unfairly edited against me
of me saying, I think Jim Harbaugh is the best football coach in the world.
What that clip does not include is that I am saying,
if you're not telling me, if you're going to give me,
if it's going to be college or pro, you just say he's got to coach football,
who do I want?
I said Harbaugh.
I'll stand by that.
I think Harbaugh is excellent.
I think Harbaugh would do a good job in green.
Green Bay. I also think what happened to Winston Moss in Green Bay would happen in almost any
environment anywhere. If someone who is a not pertinent, not super important employee
publicly calls out the single most important employee in a negative way, you're going to get
run. You mentioned who called out Andrew Luck, the former GM of the cults, who called out
Russell Wilson, defensive players who are no longer on the Seattle Seahawks, like,
you can't do this.
Like, you know, maybe like the president of Fox Sports, Eric Shanks, could send out a tweet
being like, Collins opening monologue, weak sauce today, expect better.
But I'm telling you right now, the like assistant marketing coordinator couldn't.
Yeah.
You might not get them fired, but I have a feeling there would be some phone calls from people
at CAA saying, um, uh, James needs to go.
go? And so I don't hold that against
Aaron Rogers. I just think that's kind of how
office politics work, even in the NFL. By the way, I know
you like Baker Mayfield more than I do, right? Isn't that like
I think he's... I really like Baker Mayfield.
Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield, the two future faces of the league,
also known as Colin Coward's personal hell. Go ahead.
Okay, so, okay. So, Dak Prescott's won four
straight games, not a peep.
Deshawn Watson's won nine straight games.
Not a peep.
Andrew Luck's having an incredible year.
Russell Wilson may be even better.
Not a peep.
Baker Mayfield, yep, yap, yap, yap, yap when he was winning.
This week gets humiliated, not a peep.
Isn't it look like Baker Mayfield is the classic roller coaster guy.
Dak, Deshawn, Mahomes.
I don't hear anything when they're on long winning streaks.
Baker had two, three nice weekends against cruddy teams and became Howard Stern,
got his ears box this weekend and didn't say anything.
Doesn't that worry you?
You know the thing about roller coasters, Colin?
They're dope and fun as hell.
I got no problem with that.
This is just a difference of philosophy, my friend.
he is not going to be your typical quarterback.
He told us that.
He told you that sitting on the couch.
He told the media that a week and a half ago
when he was going good.
I've got no problem with it.
I've got no problem with someone being their authentic selves,
and I think he can back it up.
And now, you're right.
A lot of these other quarterbacks have been,
I don't know who their authentic selves are
because they are always,
Russell Wilson, the quarterback,
Jack Prescott, the quarterback. Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback.
I like that Baker Mayfield is Baker Mayfield who plays quarterback.
It will never be the type of thing that you like.
You are, this is a very, I don't know if it's a generational difference,
there's a philosophical difference between you and me, but this is where our sports
philosophies always butt heads.
You want your point guards, your quarterbacks, you want them to act a certain way.
Yes.
I don't think that's necessary.
Again, history says you're right.
I think this new generation is going to rewrite that history somewhat.
I think Baker's going to be one of those guys.
And one other thing on this, you're not supposed to talk after you get your ears boxed.
It would be silly if after he played the worst game of his career, he came out and said,
I was feeling really dangerous.
What, like dangerous, like a bomb that detonates in your own huddle?
And so I don't blame him for not talking when things aren't going.
well. I just think he's a different type of cat, and I don't think that's ever going to sit
right with you because it's not what you have, what you have always believed is what wins.
We'll see if it can win. Good stuff today. First things first, Nick Wright, made me laugh
multiple times. I love having you on, buddy. It's great seeing you. You too. Great to see you.
Good to see you as well, Julie. Talk to you guys next week. All right. You know what, Joy, you know who I'm going
to be next? Who? I'm going to play a character.
Oh, it's going to be
Whose agent were you?
Dak Prescott's agent?
No.
I did that before.
I'm going to be Aaron Rogers.
I'm going to put a mustache on.
Okay.
I'm going to put a packer garb on
because Aaron did something yesterday
and I don't know why he just couldn't be brutally honest.
And I think what he said yesterday,
he's way too smart to say it because he knows nobody buys it.
And I'm going to be Aaron Rogers next segment
and he could have easily been completely honest yesterday
and I liked him more.
That's next.
Welcome back.
back. For our radio listeners, you may be a little lost.
For our television listeners, you may still be a little lost.
I am dressed as Aaron Rogers. And there's a reason I'm dressed as Aaron Rogers, because I want to play Aaron Rogers for this segment.
For the record, there were multiple mustaches available to me. This felt a little French impressionist painter.
So I got rid of that one.
And we went with the one that I think is more Aaron Rogers slash Andy Reap.
But Aaron Rogers had a couple quotes yesterday about the Mike McCarthy firing.
And I thought they were ridiculous, especially for a guy that's probably the smartest guy in the league.
Peyton Manning for a long time, you were like smartest guy in the right.
Aaron Rogers is really smart.
So here are the quotes, Aaron Rogers said yesterday, that nobody in their right mind believes.
Number one, I was as shocked as you were.
I hope I'm not the reason that Mike McCarthy got fired.
You got to be kidding me.
Aaron, you ran him out.
I get it.
By the way, I defended you.
Some relationships get old.
It's time to give Aaron a reboot.
I defend Aaron.
I've been divorced.
It's okay.
Life moves on.
Not every relationship lasts forever.
Pat Riley once said, after about 10 years, you should leave.
Your voice becomes white noise.
So I said that I'm going to play Aaron Rogers.
and I want to make this feel like a press conference,
and John and Joy are going to ask me pointed questions,
that if Aaron Rogers would have been totally brutally honest about this,
would you think less of Aaron Rogers?
And I'm going to make an argument you wouldn't have.
You read that quote.
I was as shocked as many as you were.
I hope I'm not the reason.
I think less of Aaron for that.
If he would have been brutally honest, I think we'd feel better.
So let's make it sound like a press conference.
All right, start the question.
All right, Aaron.
What are your thoughts on your only head coach you've ever had Mike McCarthy being fired?
Well, it's weird.
I mean, when you're in a relationship for like a decade, you don't know any other way.
So this is going to be different.
Did you have anything to do with the decision on the firing of Mike McCarthy?
I think like any relationship, there's highs and lows.
And Mike's going to get another job.
And I hope I flourish from this point forward.
but I think over the course of the last two years, Mike and I have had differences.
And I think I wore him out a little bit.
And there are days he wore me out.
And I think we're both good people.
And I both think we'll succeed going forward.
But we had an open line of communication with the general manager.
And I think it was time for both of us to go a different direction.
Aaron, what do you make of the reports from former teammates that you frequently rolled your eyes at Mike McCarthy's play calls?
You know, I've always believed whether it's family or my football family, there are discussions and moments that I'm not going to discuss.
I will tell you, and I think it was probably visible, there are times I was frustrated.
There are times I look around the league and I think, I wish we did more of this, this, that's that.
But again, some of this is on me.
I've got my way.
I've got my style.
I'm not the easiest guy in the NFL to coach.
coach. So I don't want a finger point. Here's what I know. Both Mike and I did everything in our power
to win in Green Bay. And we're good people, and I still have great respect for him. But it wasn't
easy. And I think sometimes I was a little immature.
Aaron, you lead the NFL and throwaways by a mile. Were you purposely throwing the ball away
because you thought the play calls were bad? I came off an injury. Joy, thank you for the
question. I
throw the ball away more this year, and I thought
it was a fairly obvious reason, because I got injured.
And more than any year in my career, I've had two
shoulder surgeries, and I got hurt again
this year, and I'm turning 35, and I threw the ball away more this year
simply because I wasn't going to take sacks. I didn't want to get hit.
Some of it was just simply trying to preserve
my career. The Cardinals
are a struggling, rebuilding team with a rookie quarterback, and they beat you at home.
Did you sabotage that game to get Mike McCarthy fired?
Sabotage?
Every moment of the week between me and this team is about winning.
We didn't play well.
I didn't play well.
Frankly, I haven't played well in a month.
I have not played well in a month.
And I take full responsibility for that.
Aaron, the world wants to know what's up with the mustache.
Is it real?
In this instance, it's completely fake.
Oh, I hope that was worse.
No, this is not my real mustache.
I am playing a character.
But generally speaking, if I was Aaron, it would be real.
One last one, Aaron.
What do you think of Colin Cowherd?
I think he's a fine broadcaster, one of the great voices in American sports.
And I wish everybody would leave him alone.
Because I listen to him every day.
9 to 12 Pacific, 12 to 3 Eastern on FS1,
a great network for sportscasters.
Now, let me ask you something besides this ridiculous, painful mustache,
wouldn't you respect him more?
Wouldn't you appreciate that more than the quote,
I was just as shocked as everybody else was.
I mean, this thing came out of left field.
I mean, I think Aaron's going to get criticized no matter what,
but I always go with being authentic over whatever that quote is.
By the way, you do a great Jeff Foxworthy impression.
Thank you.
I'll take that as a compliment.
Strong.
Aaron's too smart to conveniently get naive.
He's way too smart to do this.
We all know Aaron's great.
We all know he's difficult.
By the way, Brett Farv could be difficult.
Joe Namath wasn't easy.
There have been great quarterbacks.
We know this in the NBA.
Kevin Durant's personality is different from Steph, is different from Clay.
Go look at the Warriors.
They have four different personalities.
Draymon Clay, Steph, and Durant are four totally unique personalities.
That's okay.
Try to make it work.
But this idea that this came out of left field and you were shocked, Aaron,
we'll like you more if you let the real Aaron out.
We know it didn't work.
We got it.
By the way, we defended you.
Most media people were like, Aaron deserves something else.
That's all good, dude.
Divorces are fine.
You know, I'm going to start growing a mustache.
I kind of like the way I looked.
It's the herd.
Hour two, this is the herd.
Wherever you may be and however you may be listening,
live in Los Angeles, Iheart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1.
Joy Taylor is joining me.
Hope you enjoyed our I'm Aaron Rogers segment.
It's good to have you back on.
It is great to be back, Joy.
One of the things, I have no problem with dynasties in sports.
I mean, I think the Warriors, the Showtime Lakers, the MJ Bulls, the Yankees in the 90s.
I don't think dynasties are bad for sports as multiple teams try to knock off the dynasty.
I do think in college football you have a problem now.
It looks like Alabama Clemson, fourth year in a row, you know, are going to be ending up playing.
And I just don't think it's great for the sport.
the ratings have gone down in the national championship a little bit last couple of years.
I think there's a fatigue that's the same kind of four teams.
In the NFL, the parity is absolutely unbelievable.
And I was thinking about this morning, I looked up, 30 teams are still eligible for the
playoff, and we're going into week 14.
That's unbelievable.
Baseball's not close to that.
MLS isn't close.
NBA's not close.
College football, college basketball.
I mean, we all know Duke's going to be in the final four, elite eight minimum
Kentucky. NFL, 30 teams are still eligible. Only the Bay Area's, Niners and Raiders are out.
And of the 19 of the 30 teams, I would call real teams. I'm talking about Ravens. I'm talking
about Patriots. I'm talking about bears. You know, you could see a team winning multiple
playoff games, right? The big game this weekend, to illustrate the parody in the NFL,
let's take the Dallas-Philadelphia game. Now, the perception around the league now,
the wheels are sort of coming off for the eagles at six and six they're falling apart and the
cowboys at seven of five just beat the saints extra time to prepare for this game they are humming
that is the perception and think about this with four days extra rest and as healthy as
they've been all year the Dallas cowboys at home are just a field goal favorite over the reeling
injured Philadelphia Eagles that's amazing
and to further give you an example of the parody in the NFL,
we sat down this morning and we spent about 30 minutes on this.
I said, take the 12 best players in this game.
And before we show it to you, it goes, before I put it up there,
before you put it up there, it goes, Eagle, Cowboy, Cowboy, Eagle, Cowboy, Eagle, Cowboy, Eagle,
Eagle, Cowboy, Eagle, Cowboy, Eagle.
We thought six and six, right down the middle.
We said the best player in this matchup Sunday is Carson Wentz.
He's a quarterback and he's an unbelievable talent.
Ezekiel Elliott and Leighton Van derresh make out the top three.
Then it goes Fletcher Cox, DeMarcus Lawrence, Zach Ertz,
who's having a record setting year at tight end,
Lane Johnson, Zach Martin, Jason Kelsey's rated as the number one center in football number nine,
linebacker of the Cowboys, Jalen Smith, Amari Cooper, and Malcolm Jenkins, the safety.
Six and six.
The first one's an eagle, the last one's an eagle, and it's cowboys and eagles all through it.
It's a three point to three and a half point line.
Meaning if it was in Philadelphia,
Vegas is telling you it's even.
Because teams get three points for playing at home, most of them.
I think New Orleans may get four, L.A. may get two.
Basically, it's a coin flip game.
And just think about this.
If Dallas loses and his seven and six and Philadelphia wins in his seven,
and six. It will shatter all the momentum Dallas has. It will take away all the equity built
by the Cowboys with the Saints win. And this is why the NFL is four times more popular than
college football. A big part of it is simply this. On any given weekend, a team that is on fire,
just beat the Saints, extra rest at home is a coin flip.
over the Super Bowl champs who finally have a winning streak,
who are reeling, who are a mess in the secondary,
who can't get the Golden Tate thing right,
and have lost two running backs.
That is an incredible, incredible thing.
And by the way, when we all, we did these listings,
Fletcher Cox was our fourth best player.
He's the second highest rated defensive lineman in the NFL,
only behind Aaron Donald.
And DeMarcus Lawrence, who's one spot behind him,
is the highest reddit player for the Cowboys, according to pro football focus.
Van der Leads the NFL and Solo Tackles.
So we went down and we looked at numbers, pro football focus, where do they rank?
And give or take a spot, that's the best 12 players, six and six.
So I was thinking about this, about the Packer job.
And Bruce Ariens said yesterday, shifted the Packers, that he would not take the Packer job.
And I was thinking, I think there's a very few great jobs in the NFL.
Now, obviously, there's only 32 head coaching jobs in the NFL.
In most instances, the worst NFL job is better than almost any college job.
Now, there are exceptions.
Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, USC, Texas, Oklahoma.
Those pay a $5 million a year or more.
Those are great jobs.
But there's 120 college jobs.
There's about six great ones, Clemson maybe, six great ones.
NFL, there's only one or two bad jobs.
And I'm not even sure if Jacksonville's bad.
It's just currently a mess because they've overpaid for Blake Bortles.
But what would make a job elite?
The three things to me that would make a job really a great, not just a good, but a great job, stable ownership.
So that's going to eliminate the Colts.
Jim Mersey is too impulsive.
The Seahawks, because Paul Allen has passed and his family,
members don't like sports. The Jets, the Raiders, Packers don't have an owner and the Bears.
So that eliminates those. Stable ownership. Next, an elite franchise quarterback with many years
left. So that's going to eliminate, obviously, your New Orleans, your Pittsburgh, your New England.
I don't want to go there and then two years later have to find a franchise quarterback.
I want a guy. I want a guy that's going to be there for minimum five years, hopefully eight to ten.
And the third thing is, it's not a total roster rebuild.
That eliminates the Jets.
That eliminates the Raiders.
Again, that eliminates Buffalo.
That eliminates Arizona.
As far as I can tell, these are the five best coaching jobs in the NFL.
Philadelphia, Rams, Chiefs, Texans, Falcons.
And I think they all have good coaches.
Some better than others.
But those are the five jobs.
Philadelphia, I get a stable owner.
get Carson Wentz and I got all sorts of dudes.
Same with the Rams, Chiefs, Texans and the Atlanta Falcons.
Atlanta, by the way, has a really nice roster.
They just lost about a third of it, you know, in the first month of the season.
So there are not that many great jobs.
And this goes back to the Green Bay situation.
Remember this about Green Bay.
Just consider this.
From 1973 to 1993, Packers made the playoffs once.
why? Because the only time Green Bay has ever won, like be a legit team, Bart Star, Brett Fav, Aaron Rogers,
because it's not a free agent destination. A lot of coaches don't want to coach there. A lot of wives don't want to live there.
A lot of players don't want to play there. You have to have a Hall of Fame first ballot quarterback to win.
And in this instance, and the same with Fav, he's not the easiest guy.
to coach. Never forget what Charles Woodson said when he went to Green Bay.
I was trying to try my best to either get to Jacksonville or Tampa Bay.
You know, I never really been to Green Bay. I came here and played before, but, you know,
all the talks you hear about Green Bay are people that have played in Green Bay. It's like you don't
want to play there. You know, coming from Oakland, this is night and day, you know, and every,
you know, account I can remember of someone talking about Green Bay. This was not my type of place.
everything, organization, nightlife, the whole thing, you know, just being in Green Bay.
That's what players, Charles is the only guy that's ever said that publicly.
So is Green Bay a great job?
I don't think it's a great job.
You don't get free agents.
There are some coaches that don't want to live there.
The quarterback's now making $33 million.
It's going to be a pretty young roster because of that.
And this should be noted.
you do realize when you get the job, the expectation will be next year where you should be in the NFC championship.
I mean, Sean McVeigh is not going to face any heat at all if they're not in the Super Bowl.
He won't.
Even Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes is a baby.
But Green Bay, you don't get Aaron Rogers.
Nine of 11 years, I think McCarthy had a winning record.
You don't get to the NFC championship with Aaron.
And first year, they'll be like, I don't know if it's going to work.
All right.
Coming up next, Albert Breyer, Kenyon Martin, and an interesting comment from one of our guests yesterday
on what he sees from his franchise quarterback.
Tomorrow, Marcus Marriota and the Titans look to keep their playoff hopes alive against the Jaguars.
It all starts at 730 Eastern on Fox, NFL Network, and streaming on Prime Video.
By the way, the Titans are 6 and 6.
couple of weeks they face. Cody Kessler, Eli Manning, and Mark Sanchez as
quarterbacks so they could be nine and six as they finish off their season against Andrew
Luck. There's a good chance that could be nine and six. So for the Titans,
Jaguars played really good against the Colts. This is a big game. Car Shopping can be
confusing with all the different terms. Don't make it be confusing. Truecar.com. Check out
the true price, save three grandoff MSRP. Albert Breers around the corner. On the latest,
he's embedded in New England on Josh McDaniels to the Green Bay Packers.
Before we get to that, we play a game.
I'm the stockbroker.
I love this game.
It's called buy, sell, or hold.
Here we go.
Time to.
Buy, sell.
Colin will decide if he'll buy it.
Sell.
Roger to sell.
Or hold.
Who hold?
Buy sell or hold?
Aaron Rogers will outlast his new head coach in Green Bay.
Well, I mean, it really comes down to health.
Aaron Rogers turned 35 a couple of days ago and has said he wants to play well into his 40s.
that would be six years.
Now, you think of the Green Bay Packers is great stability.
But they hired Ray Rhodes after Mike Holgren left,
and he was the coach for only one season.
And they just fired Mike McCarthy right after Thanksgiving.
So this idea that this organization is overly loyal,
I would argue the Cowboys, through the years,
have stayed with coaches who are not working much longer than Green Bay.
So John,
By, bye, bye, Aaron Rogers is going to be.
be around a lot longer than whoever his next coach is.
Buy seller hold, Dak Prescott will win a playoff game for the first time in his career.
Well, Dallas is over a field goal favorite at home, and they are currently right now the
number four seed.
They are leading the division and can really wrap it up this weekend with a win.
Remember this.
The Cowboys are 5 and 1 at home, and if they win this weekend, are likely to host a home
playoff game. So John
Bye, bye, bye! Yeah, I think Dak Prescott
will host a home
playoff game. Dallas wins this weekend.
I don't think they win multiple games,
but I think they win their home
playoff game. Sticking with the Cowboys,
buy, sell or hold. Jason Garrett
will not be the head coach of the Cowboys next year.
This is like the worst rumor that won't go away,
and I don't think he's a great coach,
but they've only had one man overboard season.
And that was when Tony Romo got hurt.
Now, he doesn't achieve to the height many of you want,
but I'd like to say one more time that it appears if Dallas wins Sunday,
they will have won their second division title in three years
with a fourth round quarterback on his first contract.
So, John...
Sell, sell, sell!
Jason Garrett's going nowhere.
Buy seller hole, the Chargers will win the AFC West.
They look really good against Pittsburgh.
In fact, the second half.
The second half against the Steelers may have been the most impressive offensive second half
I've seen from any road team in the NFL this year.
But they are one game back of Kansas City.
And next Thursday, they play at Kansas City.
And they also have to go to Denver.
And those are places through the years that the Chargers, even with better talent, struggle with.
So, John...
Sell, sell, sell!
Chargers are not winning this division.
but I would not want to play them.
They'll be one of the best wild card teams.
Remember, four wild card teams in NFL have won the Super Bowl.
This is one of these wild card teams capable of winning the Super Bowl,
but I don't think they're capable because of the matchups of winning their division.
Speaking of another wild card team,
the Seahawks will make the playoffs by Seller Hold.
Okay, they're currently in the first wild card spot.
They're a game up on the Eagles, who I think are going to lose.
they're a game up on the Panthers and the Redskins.
Their last four games actually kind of work to their advantage.
Arizona and San Francisco, either rookie quarterbacks or second-tier quarterbacks,
Minnesota in Seattle, which has struggled in big games.
And the Seahawks right now are doing two things really well.
Running the football lead the league and don't turn it over.
With a Hall of Fame coach and quarterback, eventually John...
Bye, bye, bye, bye!
Seahawks will make the playoffs, and besides the Chargers, they will be the second strongest wildcard team in the NFL this year.
Last one, buy-seller hold, Anthony Davis, or Kevin Durant will join LeBron on the Lakers next season.
I'll believe Kevin Durant when I see it.
But the New Orleans Pelicans are not very good.
Right now, we're not a playoff team.
And Anthony Davis, in the last six months, has signed.
with Clutch Sports and Rich Paul.
That is also LeBron's agent.
So John,
Bye, bye, bye, I would lean Anthony Davis over Kevin Durant to join LeBron James.
Albert Breer will be joining us, Kenyon Martin, too.
Here's Joy Taylor with the news.
No, no, no, no, turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So coaching rumors are flying everywhere.
In addition to the Browns and the Packers gig, there figures to be some other vacancies
around the league this off season, and Josh McDaniel's name is getting thrown in there again,
and he was asked recently about his desire to become a head coach.
Future goal hasn't changed, though.
You still want to be a head coach again someday.
If that's in the cards for me, then that's great.
I've said that before, but again, I'm not worried about that right now.
I think he is worried about that right now.
story yesterday that he has got a list of coaches, and there's a group of young coaches out there that are Josh McDaniels fans that would follow him.
Better get in writing.
Yeah, I mean, you know, here's what's interesting.
What's a better job?
New England, when Brady retires, because you'd still have a strong owner in craft, you're in a winnable division.
You would, Belichick's gone and Brady's gone.
Or no owner in Green Bay, not an attractive free.
agent market and Aaron Rogers, who's amazing, but can be difficult. What's a better job?
I think it's really tough because... I think it depends on what your long-term goals are. I mean,
I'm sure he does want to become a head coach again. I mean, obviously, that situation with the
Colts was a disaster, but I think you have to take New England. I mean, you have to take Green Bay.
I think you do, too, because they have the quarterback. You can't assume... Well, first of all,
who knows how much longer Belichick's going to coach for? I think longer than people think. And you're
never going to unseat him. So you're just going to wait until he, until he retires.
Brady will retire before Belichick retires. I think so. Yes, yes. I mean, here's the thing,
though, Belichick got fired when he couldn't get the quarterback right. Right. Okay, so like.
So you have the quarterback right. I think he just deal with some of, I don't think Green Bay is a great job.
I think it's a good job. I think it's a highly pressurized job. But I think I would take it before I
would take the New England job because you can't think.
you're going to get the quarterback. When John Elway left, it took all the way to Peyton Manning
to get a Super Bowl winning quarterback. They've still never replaced Marino in Miami. You can go 20 years.
By the way, between Bradshaw and Big Ben was 20 years of a lot of Tommy Maddox and Neil O'Donnell
and Bobby Bristler, who were fine when you're not winning Super Bowls.
I remember. Thank you for bringing up of both of my teams have suffered decades out of quarterbacks.
So three finalists for the Heisman Trophy were announced this week, Alabama's,
Tua, Tungabailoa, Oklahoma's Kyler Murray, and Ohio states, Dwayne Haskins.
From the early weeks of the season, until recently, Tua was widely considered the runaway winner,
but Kyler is kind of caught up and now past him.
Here are the current odds to win the Heisman.
Murray's 1 to 2, 2 is 3 to 2, and Haskins is 60 to 1.
Tua has 37 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on the year.
Kyla is 40 with 7 interceptions.
You know what?
I know everybody loves Tua, but as an NFL prospect, I take Dwayne.
Haskins, bigger, stronger.
Like, never forget this.
There are a lot of people that are built for college football.
And I think Tua could play in the NFL.
I've seen Tua get hurt like three times.
He's not a big guy.
I don't look at Tua and see an NFL quarterback.
But the Heisman, who are you going to go with?
Kyler or Tua.
I think I'd go to the Oklahoma guy.
Yeah.
Because I think the Ohio State guy, the biggest game of the year for Alabama,
Tua's backup was the star, and Haskins played great for the last month.
Kyler Murray had to replace Baker Mayfield and has literally been better as a college player.
So finally, Clay Thompson has no problem kicking the calves while they're down.
Over the past four seasons, the Warriors and Cavs have faced each other 30 times, 22 postseason and eight regular season,
and it became one of the NBA's fiercest rivalries, but those days are obviously done.
And Clay Thompson spoke to the athletic about the third.
three one blown lead jokes and the Cavs Halloween party with the skeletons and all that.
So he said that was funny.
Now look how that turned out.
Bums.
That was crazy.
I forgot about all of that.
Well, look at what pettiness gets you.
Gets you one and eight in the finals, idiots.
Well, they also have a lot better players.
I mean, let's not kid ourselves on that.
I don't think the cupcakes or whatever had it.
This clearly bothered them.
But he's right, you know, you just go back and answer.
on the court. They also got Kevin Durant, so
I think that helped. Yeah,
I think that was a bigger deal
in the cookies. It was like the Undertaker coming back
except it was Kevin Durant coming out and
squash that whole
rivalry, but that's funny.
His reaction clearly shows how much that bothered them.
Yeah, Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd-Ly
News. So Nick Wright talked
about this earlier, is that
every
sportscaster has a
worldview. And I am I am kind of a I don't like nonsense. I like common sense. I don't like a lot of
celebration. I think there are positions in sports that require leadership skills. Now I don't
think there's a lot of them. I don't I do not think there's a lot of them. Like in soccer,
a midi or a midfielder, you're going to control the pace of play. You can't get out of
position. You can't be too emotional. You have to be at times cautious, then at times aggressive, but
not too aggressive. Point guards in basketball. You control the tempo. Quarterbacks in football.
And people often say, oh, you pick on Baker-Mayfield. No, no, no. I pick on a certain personality in the
NFL. I was brutal on Mansell. I was pretty brutal on James Winston. I've been brutal on
Cam, and I'm brutal on Baker-Mayfield. They have nothing in common. One's tall, one short.
I mean, one looks like a model. Well, I guess Baker's an underwear model. The point is, I
pick on personalities.
And so Andrew Whitworth yesterday was talking about his young quarterback, Jared Goff.
He is a tremendous kid.
He really is.
And I have been just blown away at the humbleness and just the attitude he has every day
to just come to work and be unmovable and you can't really affect him in games.
There'll be moments where I'm like, oh, no, that's a bad, bad play or a bad situation.
and like he just like gets up and he's like all right man let's go the next one and you're just
what you know for a young quarterback kid i mean just it's unbelievable and yeah i mean he's a
tremendous kid and this is what i go back to of the 12 division leaders in the nfl 11 have
non-chatty quarterbacks wilson deshaun just don't talk brady breeze 11
one of 12, current would be playoff quarterbacks, are in the media a lot, and that's Big Ben.
And 6-6-270 transformational talent, that's my knock on Baker-Mayfield.
Jared Goff's a star quarterback in L.A., not a peep.
Deshawn Watson's won nine straight, not a peep.
Russell Wilson's having his best year ever, not a peep.
Andrew Luck, reborn, not a peek.
Brady, eight Super Bowls, not a peep.
Baker Mayfield had three back-to-back good games
against atrocious defenses,
Cincinnati, Atlanta, Kansas City.
He was in the news for three weeks.
He got clobbered this weekend against Houston,
and he goes and hides.
That is an inconsistent personality.
That is my problem.
And by the way, I had this discussion yesterday
with somebody in our business,
and he said, you know, like players don't
respect fans because they know players know that you'll always be there for them and the players
don't like the media because we're critical thinkers and sometimes cynical and we ask questions
we're like the IRS we're not built to be liked we're built to audit right we're built to hold you
and check and but the truth is is that the questions I ask about baker are the same exact questions
every GM did okay and Cleveland doesn't have a history of getting the right quarterback you can you can
overlook James Winston's college weirdness, and you can overlook Johnny Mansell's college ego.
But the history's on my side is that uneven personalities don't last 12 years.
They can win rookie of the month, RG3, but Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson, Jared Gough, Brady, Breeze, Watson, Wence, Patrick Mahomes.
I'll tell you another guy.
The greatest example of this is DAC.
I like very little about Dak's arm.
It's not strong.
It's not very accurate.
I don't think he throws guys open.
Dak is a completely limited thrower.
Baker's not a limited thrower.
He's got a better than average arm, wildly accurate, perfect release,
can sit in the pocket and throw 28-yard darts all day.
This will be interesting going forward.
Watch Baker, who has tremendous quarterback skills as a thrower,
but I don't like his intangibles,
and Dak, who is completely limited as a thrower,
but I love his intangibles.
I mean, literally, he's been swimming with the Zeeke controversy,
the Jerry stuff, Jason Garrett.
You never hear a peep from him.
Baker is a significantly better quarterback prospect than Dak Prescott.
That is not arguable.
One of them simply throws a much better football.
But I'm going to make a bet with you that over the next eight to ten,
10 years, Dax's going to win a lot more football games.
And Dax's not going to be in nearly the trouble.
I googled Baker Mayfield this morning.
Not a peep.
Not a single story about him talking.
When he was winning, yep, yep, yap.
Three picks, hides.
It doesn't work that way.
Those guys never last.
They never, ever do.
So there you go.
I'm still, many of the audience members are still trying to recover from my
Aaron Rogers impression earlier today, which it was one of my favorite segments I've ever done on this show.
I thought it was strong.
Yeah, I mean, we came out and we did a little Aaron Rogers impression because I think Aaron Rogers would be much better served being brutally honest.
I don't think there's ever the wrong time to say the right thing.
And I, for the life of me, can't figure out why Aaron Rogers came out and yesterday was quoted as saying, I was shocked with a McCarthy move.
I was as shocked as anybody.
I certainly hope I wasn't part of it.
And how that lands for me is, come on.
It's so over the top on the other end that it lacks some self-awareness.
Like if you were to say, you know, I didn't expect it or I'm sorry to hear about it or I'm sorry that it happens or just be vague in anyway.
That's one thing.
But just to go as far as to say you had no idea this was coming and the entire world was talking about it and then say you didn't think that you were a part of it.
nobody buys that.
Nobody in the world buys that.
It's too far on the other end.
And again, you can create the press conference sound.
If you had asked Aaron Rogers, I mean, if Aaron's as smart as I think, if you would have asked Aaron Rogers during that press conference, you would have asked him a hard question.
What did you make of the firing?
And Aaron Rogers, with a camera's buzzing, would simply go out and say, you know, I'm not the easiest guy in the world to coach.
I take some responsibility for this, too.
But listen, right now, this relationship, we kind of had a crossroads.
He's going to succeed after me.
I think I'm going to exceed the next five years, succeed.
And that's okay.
Divorces happen.
I'm not easy to coach.
I take responsibility for some of this divorce.
But in the end, we've got to win games here.
And if it's not working, let's try something else.
What did Einstein say?
Can't keep doing the same thing over and over.
failing. And so let's move on. We'll both succeed. That answer is incredibly honest. And I think
people are like, wow, instead of, I was shocked. This thing came out of left field. I was shocked
as many of you. Nobody's buying any of that hooey. All right. Kenyon Martin's around the corner.

You just always look.
This is effortless, actually.
Why?
I like to look nice.
All right.
That's fair.
Don't you think Joy is one of our better dressed guests?
It takes it very seriously.
It's classy.
Yeah, hey, man.
Bring the class.
I heard what Dion said.
What's that?
What Dionne say?
Yeah.
You look good, you get paid good.
I'm talking about it?
Yeah.
So, Kevin Durant.
Kevin Durant said something yesterday.
Yeah.
We put that bite up.
It's on the screen where Durant said, listen,
there's so many fanboys in the media with LeBron.
I love that quote.
Oh, fan boys.
Isn't that funny?
I love it.
And he goes, so sometimes, you know, it can be a little, here he goes.
He goes, there's so much hype around LeBron.
He's got so many fan boys in the media.
Even the beat writers just fawn over him.
It's not even about basketball at certain points.
So I get why anybody wouldn't want to be in that environment because it's toxic.
Can you relate to that?
What does that mean?
Toxic.
Every situation on every team for each player is different.
You know, some people, they need that.
They need to be around named guys in order for them to be relevant.
Some guys don't need that.
Some guys look at all the media attention and all the hype and all that stuff as being negative, you know.
And I think that's what Kevin Durant speaks of.
And for him, it probably would be.
be that way, you know what I'm saying?
Because he doesn't, he's had a great
career without all of that.
You know what I'm saying?
And he's kind of getting tired of it now
in Golden State.
To a certain degree, because he's about basketball.
You know, and everything you do, good,
bad, or indifferent is put under a microscope.
And you know what happens
when you put things under a microscope.
Right. You know, you find out things
about yourself and other people that you might not like.
Years ago, Kenyon,
you were offered a contract.
The heat, when they had way
Bosch and LeBron wanted you.
Yeah. You were one of the few players
that turned it down.
Why? For me,
speaking of toxic
situation, for me personally, probably
would have been not the best environment
for me. Why? And had nothing to do
a basketball. Just me as a person.
At the
time, where 2011,
2012, I think it was.
The way I approach things
and the way I was as a man,
I just, certain
environments probably wouldn't have been the best
for me. They had a lot of
spotlight on him. That and
Pat Riley had his pulse
on the team to a certain
disposal was a coach, but it's still Pat
Riley's environment. And you're not a fan
of that? He can run
an organization how he wants to run it. But if I
want to go out on a Tuesday night in Miami
and have a good time, I'm going
to do that and not be questioned on Wednesday
where I was the next day.
Is what Pat does that? That's what I
was hearing. That's things I've heard. And
I'm not going to be questioning what I'm doing
when I'm not on your clock.
When I'm not on your watch,
I can do what I want to,
as long as I come to show up and work.
And some of the things that was going on
that I was hearing at the time,
it would have been toxic for me.
I'm saying?
Not to say nothing to do with basketball.
They went on to win the championship.
I think I could have been a big part of that.
Yes.
But at what cost for me?
You know what I'm saying?
That's interesting.
Yeah, like it had great basketball players.
They're probably great people.
But if y'all are going to
a spin class on Wednesday night,
Kenyon probably not going to be there.
If y'all are going to do the verticlimber thing
at 4.35 o'clock in the morning,
Kenya probably not going to be there.
I get it.
Now, spin classes turn up now.
I'm with it.
You've done a spin class before?
Yeah, I have.
It's intense.
But you like your social.
I'm not.
You're not a spin class person.
Not that, but it's like, okay, I do certain,
I'll run through a wall for my teammates.
I got your back no matter what.
But you're not going to movie night.
Not if you have it five times.
I might show up once.
I'm completely cool with that.
So that's, for me, that's what,
so their situation probably has been toxic.
So they're looking at me as to be an outsider,
can you not all in?
Right.
So therefore it might affect some other things.
So that's what Kevin means when it's toxic.
And I ain't always that it's going to be bad for basketball.
It's other things that happens in locker rooms and cities and teams,
all that that you have to take into account, which I don't think people do enough.
No, one of the things I've always defended players on, the average person has no understanding
of this. Think about, we always complain, oh, poor football players, they have to play once a year
on a short week on Thursday. Hockey guys and NBA guys, I'm worn out flying to Albuquerque once a month.
you guys are flying
45 minimum nights a year
delayed, get to the hotel at 3.
I want to ask you about this.
When you look at LeBron,
they'll beat San Antonio tonight.
They'll go 15 to 9, pretty good start.
San Antonio's really struggling.
Can't stop people.
Can't stop anybody.
Bad defensively.
Let me ask you this, though.
What is LeBron's reputation
in, not just basketball,
in terms of what he creates culturally
when he's in a team?
He's everything for.
for the team organization, every stop he's been in.
He's been everything as far as getting on the court,
get everybody involved, everybody shot off the court,
all the media hype, everything business-wise.
It revolves around LeBron.
He's everything to a lot of people.
See, I would think you'd get along with him because you bring it.
You bring your A-game to the game.
It probably would have nothing to do with just him per se.
But you just didn't feel you worked.
Just the environment.
Yeah, I put everything on me.
Not them.
I just, I wasn't going to put myself in.
the situation for me to have to defend something or have confrontation with guys who I might
get along what I might like.
What do you make of these comments?
Magic talked about LeBron's workload.
He said, we're trying to make sure we watch his minutes.
We don't want to run everything through him.
That's Cleveland all over again.
Kobe talked about, yeah, you can score a bunch of points and save the team now, but you don't
win championships that way.
They've talked about LeBron's workload.
What do you make of that?
Because workload is what it is.
He's been that.
He's going to be that no matter where he goes.
If he's on the court, he's going to, you need him to win.
So therefore, any situation, Cleveland, you need him to win.
Miami, you need him to win.
Lakers, you need him to win.
USA basketball, you need him to win.
His workload, it is what it is.
There's no way around it.
Career numbers, 27, 7, and 7, whatever it is.
What he's averaging this year?
27, 8, and 7.
The numbers are what his workload is going to be.
that. You rely on him in order
to get guys involved. You're allowing him to
score. You allow him to be the rebound. You allow
him to be the voice. It is
interesting though. In his last two stops
he's played with elite players. You know, Bosch is
an elite player, especially
before the medical stuff, Wade. Then Kyrie
Love. Okay, there's been elite guys. There
isn't an elite player.
Yet.
I don't know if there is. And they won't get there.
I don't know if... Being on the same team with
LeBron. I don't know if any of these
Lakers are elite. I don't think they are.
Brandon Ingram could be that.
Boy, if I have to keep hearing that, I thought that too.
So why, what makes you think different?
Because when young players are developing, they're wildly inconsistent.
In your peak years, I got the same Kmart every night.
But still, though.
But his high, Brandon Ingram's high.
Okay.
He's 17 points.
He doesn't give me a 30.
I never get a 28.
So I'm actually this.
if LeBron wasn't there
this year
like this was the Brandon Ingram
transition year
third big year right
LeBron comes into the situation
he's not going to be that
so you think if LeBron's not here he's giving me a 23
regularly he's leading the team and scoring
and rebound like yet definitely
so you like Ingram
he's averaging 23 23
24 points of LeBron is not there
his growth is being stung
it because of LeBron's presence.
Because, I get while LeBron
came here business-wise.
Los Angeles, it don't get no bigger. I get it.
Your brand, I understand
it totally. Yeah. Basketball
since it never made any sense to me for
him to be here. You spent the second pick on
Ingram, spend the second pick on ball.
You got Hart, the other guy
where you're trying to develop. Cusman.
So you're in the same, so you're going to be in the
same spot that you was with Kobe.
Everybody's deferring to Kobe. Everybody's
fit around Kobe.
Same thing with LeBron.
You can't have a guy with that
dominant ball-wise and that
dominant personality and expect
other guys to develop. It's not
going to happen. Yeah, I mean, Brandon Ingram,
I can acknowledge this.
I said before the season, he went from
nine points to 16, I'm like, he's going to be
23 a game, second-leaning score, and I feel
like he is just... Because he's not a
spot-up shooter for one. That's the key.
He needs the ball to be...
Thank you. He needs the ball.
And LeBron has the ball in his hands 85% of the game.
Every game that LeBron James plays in, he has the ball 85% of the time.
So therefore, when you get it, there's so much pressure on you to make plays and to make shots.
So, of course, you're not going to look good all the time because all of that pressure is there for you to play well.
And now people like yourself, hard on bringing them because he's not Robbins, which...
He can't be.
He can't be.
No, this is really well done.
I actually talked to a scout about this.
You should be a scout.
And he said, the problem is,
Ingram's not a spot-up shooter.
He needs the ball to score 23.
If he doesn't have the ball, he averages 16,
and that's what he's averaging.
And that's doing the floor of the game.
You're not running plays.
You might run a play for him, two plays here.
But in order to be successful,
he needs the ball.
He needs the ball.
Cusman needs the ball.
Those guys need that ball to be successful
and help the team.
You can't get it.
because your growth is going to be stunning with LeBron James.
Great player.
LeBron is great.
The greatest player playing right now.
But. Yeah, the butt.
Kenyon Martin, good stuff.
Hour three next.
Hour three, here we go.
This is the herd.
Wherever you may be and however you may be listening, live in Los Angeles, Iheart Radio,
Fox Sports Radio, and FS1.
I got to read this, Joy.
I'm back on spots.

So the show is flying by today.
We have Alexei Lawless,
MLS title game this weekend, and we also
have Greg Jennings, former Packers, going to
be joining us as well. Great to have
you enjoy. We are on a Wednesday. Tomorrow,
the Titans play, by the way, against the Jags, which
looks boring. But I think the Titans are going to
now win three straight, go nine and six
and face the Colts and Andrew Luck at the end
of the year for a playoff spot. So, watch.
watch the Titans play tomorrow against the boring Jags.
Coming up, Greg Jennings, Alexei Lawless, later and best for last.
There's something that hasn't happened in the NFL in a decade, but I think that's about to change.
But more shake-up within the Packers coaching rank, so let me get to it.
So yesterday I spent a significant amount of time on the show saying the problem with the Packers' organization is they have no owner.
And because they have no owner, no other team in pro sports have.
has this. They have no owner. So the star legendary quarterback, Brett Fav or Aaron Rogers,
become too powerful. Nobody can hold him accountable. I mean, with Tom Brady, there's a billionaire
above him. Drew Brees, there's a billionaire above him. Eli Manning, there's a billionaire above him.
Carson Wentz, there's a billionaire above him. Aaron Rogers, he's a richest guy in the state. He's
a richest guy in the town. He's the most powerful guy. I think it's a problem. Nobody holds him
accountable. So here's a prime example. Yesterday, Winston Moss.
he's an outside linebacker coach for the Packers.
Not even the linebacker coach.
We'll just give you the outside linebackers.
Not a real powerful guy, right?
Former player.
He put out a tweet, which is completely offensive.
I mean, nobody would be offended by this.
So he went to Twitter and he put out a tweet and the tweet says,
ponder this.
What championship teams have is great leadership, period.
It's not the offensive guru trend.
It's not the safe trend.
Find somebody that's going to hold a number.
12 and everybody in the building to a Lombardi standard.
That's all he said.
That's it.
And they fired him.
Two hours later, they ran him out of the building.
You got to be kidding me.
People are walking on eggshells.
They did it with FAR if they're doing it with Rongers.
And here's what's amazing.
Belichick has never cowarded at Tom Brady.
Remember a couple years ago it was Brady's birthday?
Somebody asked Belichick about it.
He's got to stay in the pocket more.
You know, Cam Newton's got to be more accountable.
Russell Wilson's coach Pete Carroll called him out this year.
He's playing too Lucy Goosey.
His teammates called him out in the ESPN magazine.
And John Gruden called out Derek Carr a month after he got the job.
Star quarterbacks, star quarterbacks around this league,
are constantly held to a standard, have to be accountable,
called out by their coaches, not just any quarterback, Cam Newton, Derek Carr, Russell Wilson.
I mean, they're called out by their coaches.
I remember the former GM of the Colts once called out Andrew Luck for making too much money.
And an outside linebacker coach says, we got to hold number 12 and everybody in this building
do a Lombardi standard.
Ring, ring, ring, hello, you're fired.
What?
This reminds me of Westbrook and O'KC and Shaq in Orlando.
Sometimes you get superstars that are so big in a small town that everybody is walking around on eggshells.
They call this relationship addiction when there's an uneven power balance in a relationship between a man or a woman.
And the woman or the man is addicted to their relationship and will do anything to please their partner.
because the relationship's uneven.
She doesn't, she could do way better, he could do way better, whatever.
I saw it with Shaq and Orlando.
I see it with Westbrook and O'KC.
And I see it with legendary Green Bay quarterbacks,
Farr of Aaron Rogers, in Green Bay.
You're going to fire an outside linebacker coach after an innocuous tweet
saying we should hold number 12 and everybody in this building do a Lombardi standard.
That gets a run out?
I mean, I got to tell you something.
whoever gets this job, this head coaching job in Green Bay,
you better bring in a strong personality like Josh McDaniel.
Okay, Josh McDaniels screams at Brady.
Belichick doesn't cower to him.
Teammates and a coach call out Russell Wilson.
The coach calls out Derek Carr.
I mean, come on now.
This is an unhealthy relationship between iconic quarterback
and an ownerless organization.
and they ran off an outside linebacker coach yesterday because of an innocuous tweet.
Should be noted that there is no leading candidate for the job.
Chris Carter this morning on First things first mentioned Jim Harbaugh.
Charles Robinson at Yahoo Sports, a very good reporter with excellent sourcing,
mentioned that Josh McDaniels is putting a group of guys together who would band together and go anywhere he goes.
Joy and I talked about this earlier.
there are not a lot of great head coaching jobs in the NFL.
Now, they're all very good.
But I'm talking the three things that make a job in the NFL.
Great.
Not just good.
Stable ownership, and that eliminates a lot of them.
That eliminates like your Colts.
Packers don't have an owner.
Seattle's owner just passed, so it's a little unstable.
You want to have a franchise quarterback with a lot of years left.
Okay, a lot of years.
You don't have Brady.
You got two years left.
and then two years later you're trying to find somebody that played at West Virginia.
And then the third thing is you don't have a total rebuild of a roster, which is Arizona,
the Jets, Buffalo, and the Raiders.
So to me there's like five really, really, really great jobs in the NFL.
I would put Philadelphia, I got Wentz for a while, good roster, good owner,
Rams, Chiefs, Houston Texans, I think.
And I think my last one was the Atlanta Falcons.
I don't think Green Bay is a great job.
Aaron Rogers makes it a very captivating job, but they've got no owner.
So there's no buffer between you and Aaron.
You can't go to the owner and say, I need you to come down hard.
Aaron's making $33 million, so therefore you're not going to have a lot of free agent flexibility,
and it's never been a free agent market.
Green Bay is a good job.
I don't think it's a great job.
This weekend, a couple of major things have happened in soccer.
And I want to go to Alex T. Lawless via the coward global satellite.
Network. First of all, the USA has named a new head coach. What do you know we have a coach?
You just sat down with him. You talked to him. He's a former player. Tell us about the new
United States men's national team coach. All right. So Colin, our long national soccer nightmare
is over. After 14 months, the United States Soccer Federation is finally named a head coach.
It is Greg Burhalter. To no one's surprise, he's been rumored for a long time.
He is not a sexy hire by any means.
He is almost the anti-Urgen-Klinzman in that sense.
However, when you sit down with him, I actually played with Greg for years, and then he's
gone into very, very good things and had a very good coaching resume.
But this is a guy that thinks about the game.
And ultimately, whether he's sexy or not, whether he says the right things or not, it's
all about winning.
You're talking about Green Bay.
If Green Bay is winning every single game, nobody cares.
All right?
All that other drama off the field doesn't matter if you're winning.
So this guy's charge right now is to win back the hearts and minds and to bring everybody back to believe that this national team, this men's national team, can compete.
Obviously, we want to get to the World Cup.
But that's not a cause to pat us on the back or anything like that.
We've done that until this incredible failure in the fall of 2017.
So this guy's job is to make sure that the team gets back to the World Cup, does well, and that we believe again, not just in our U.S. men's national team, because I've never been at a point.
where I think that there's more sadness and depression and a real apathy as to who the men's national team is.
And even the way we look at soccer.
So he's got a lot on his plate right now.
But I like the hire.
I think it's an interesting hire.
I think he'll do a good job and talking to him yesterday, said all the right things.
But he also ultimately said it's about winning.
Okay.
The other big piece of news, Christian Pulisick, was just voted the second best soccer player in the world under 21.
We have never, ever, this is our Magic Johnson, this is our LeBron.
Our sport now has a transformational global talent.
Now, he's on the first place team in Germany, the best team.
There are rumors he's going to sign for $90 million to go to the English Premier League Chelsea.
Now, I want to ask you, I think that's going to happen.
If he goes and becomes a star at the English Premier League, is that good for us necessarily?
Is that good for American soccer fans?
Yes.
It is good for us to have players playing at some of the best clubs in the world.
Rumored, as you said, to possibly be going to Chelsea for a $90 million fee or whatever ends up being.
Regardless, this is one of the phenoms in the world.
It just happens to be American.
Lucky us.
But there are teams all over the world that would love to have Christian Pulisic right now.
I think he's done a great job in going over to Germany.
He's done a really good job of Brisha Dortmund,
but I think it's time for a change right now for Christian Polisic
and a change to an even higher profile team.
And yes, it serves him well individually,
but it also serves the national team well.
And we were just talking about our collective angst
as to what we are and what we aren't.
Well, this is a shining star right now,
and this is somebody that we can get behind
for what he does on the soccer field.
And there's going to be pressure, just like anybody else,
whether it's Christian Polisic or whether it's Aaron Rogers,
there's going to be pressure to win and to deliver.
He's a lot younger.
He's a very young player, so he's still getting better.
He's still physically growing.
He's growing as a soccer player, and there's going to put a lot of pressure on his shoulder
to lead us into the promised land.
But you know what?
If you're the man, if you are the star and he is a star, you're going to take it and say,
yeah, on my watch, we're going to make sure that we qualify for the next World Cup.
I am going to lead this team by example, and I'm going to lead this team off the field.
And finally, Saturday night at Fox, 8 o'clock, Portland Timbers, and Atlanta United
Play.
interesting matchup because in the history of the MLS, I would make the argument that Atlanta is the most surprising franchise ever.
They opened the doors and 50,000 people poured in.
I think, you know, in the South, we had no idea.
I mean, I'm speaking from the outside.
We knew Portland like soccer.
We knew L.A., Miami.
We've known New York, Philadelphia.
So how did Atlanta just open the doors a couple of years ago?
How did they get so good?
I don't know. I'm going to ask Arthur Blank when I get down there.
I'm heading down to Atlanta today from New York City.
As you mentioned, Saturday Night's special.
Our coverage kicks off at 7.30 on Big Fox, Homer Simpson Fox.
Atlanta United right now, I will agree with you, Colin.
For me, they are the super club in Major League Soccer,
the club in which everybody else is compared against,
and what they have done on the field to have an incredibly entertaining and dynamic
and successful team on the field right on the back.
Keep in mind, this is only their second year.
Yeah.
And off the field, the relevancy that they have achieved in market and the way that we look at it,
there's going to be over 70,000 people in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Atlanta is a soccer town.
Yes.
It's a soccer town.
They love that team, the branding of it, the colors of it.
It's wonderful.
Could I have predicted it?
No.
Could you have predicted it?
No.
A lot of people, even in Atlanta, didn't predict it.
But there was something simmering that Arthur Blank understood, and he tapped into it.
I would suspect when I talk to him, he's still going to say, look, it's beyond our while.
expectations. We didn't think it was going to be this big. And it certainly helps when you have a
team that's hosting MLS Cup and has been very, very good for two years right out of the shoot.
Yeah, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, folks. Watch this. It will literally, it looks European.
Atlanta will have 70,000 people. Again, I grew up in the Northwest. I've always known Seattle
and Portland like soccer, L.A., Miami, New York. The Atlanta fandom for this shocked everybody in the
MLS. They're going to have 70,000 people.
It is, I have a friend in Atlanta. It is a completely wild scene.
Alexi Lollis. We got a new coach.
Pulisic's the number two star in the world.
And Atlanta and Portland, 8 p.m. Fox starts at 7.30.
Alexi, I love having you on. Thanks, buddy.
Thank you, sir. Good times ahead.
Good times ahead from a guy that lives right around the corner from me.
Alexi Lollis. We sometimes just go out and kick the soccer ball around.
All right, we don't do that.
Yeah, I would. I wouldn't kick it straight.
but I would do that.
Yeah, he tells me no.
Greg Jennings around the corner as well.
One more herd.
The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week,
within the IHeart radio app.
Search herd to listen live or on demand whenever you'd like.
By the way, this is interesting.
You know, the Pittsburgh Steelers have become very big Ben and pass reliant.
And now James Connor is hurt.
And I pick the Steelers to win their division and win the Super Bowl.
But it really feels like, you know,
they're starting to teeter.
All the distractions are adding up.
James Conner's hurt.
It should be noted that a passing leader in an NFL regular season has never won the Super Bowl.
Brady got close.
The quarterback that leads in passing has never won a Super Bowl.
And right now, Ben is the NFL's passing leader.
And right now they have the highest percentage of passing plays.
Any team in the NFL over 67%, which is amazing because they're well-examated.
ahead of the Colts, and I watch every Colts snap, and they almost never run the football,
seemingly. Big Ben talked about this. He did, I swear.
I don't think that there's any reason for people to get worked up over the number of
runs compared to passes. People are always going to get worked up over the numbers.
When you lose, especially, I don't know if people would get his worked up if we would have won
the games. That's why Randy's the O.C. and calls the plays for us, and I think we're all just
fine with the run-pass ratio. We just want to win.
It's not about getting worked up.
we have data.
If you lead the NFL, you're the NFL passing leader as a quarterback, nobody's ever won the Super Bowl,
and Pittsburgh's getting perilously close to passing it 70% of the time.
It should be noted, New England, they won eight of nine, probably has their most formidable running game ever.
And so it's really interesting to watch the two heavyweights in the AFC.
New England has never been more run-reliant.
Pittsburgh has never been more past-reliant than this month.
And it just feels like to me, I mean, it's, it's, I would go with the running team over the passing team.
Pittsburgh in Foxborough, Pittsburgh in Kansas City, those are cold, wet, windy places in January.
New England, run the ball, kill the clock.
Feels like it's going to be another disappointing end for the Steelers.
But this is a real thing.
Like this is a real thing.
You get close to 70% passing.
You're not the same football team.
Joy with the news.
No, no, no, no, turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So since the Packers decided to part ways with Mike McCarthy,
there's been a lot of names mentioned as possible candidates to become their next head coach
and one of them was Bruce Ariens.
Well, Ariens was asked recently if he's interested in that gig,
and this is what he said.
Would you have any interest in the Packers job?
No, not at all.
Why would that be?
If I ever returned to coaching, it would only be in Cleveland.
Okay.
That's interesting, you know, the love affair for Cleveland,
because, you know, the Packers are a really good situation with Rogers.
Yeah, it is, and it just, I have no desire to coach at Green Bay.
Not every position is for everybody.
Bruce Ariens doesn't have to take a coaching job at all.
No, he's made his money.
And he clearly has no interest in doing that.
I mean, there's going to be other jobs open.
It's weird, though, his fixation on Cleveland.
It really is.
I mean, he coached there before, but, like, it's weird.
Yeah.
I don't think that would be a good fit for him either.
No, I think Baker, no, I think there's better places.
Right now, the only place in the league where you have a really, really good quarterback,
and a coach opening is Green Bay.
So that, to me, is the best opening.
I don't think it's a great job.
But, I mean, right now, if you pick the 12 quarterbacks I like, Brady's got his guy.
Let's think about this.
Goff's got his guy.
Deshawn's got his guy.
Russell's got his guy.
I think Pete's going to sign an extension.
Wentz has his guy.
Wence has his guy.
Drew Breeze has his guy.
I think Matt Ryan's guy's good.
Matt Ryan's got his guy.
Yeah, I mean, this is it.
And those guys aren't going anywhere.
So to me, because Pete Carroll, I thought Joy was a little bit, you know, it was last year of his deal.
They had to have a good year, but I think Pete probably signs a two-year extension.
Yeah, I don't think he's going anywhere.
So, I mean, the best job available is the one with the great quarterback, and there's one right now in the foreseeable future.
I mean, that's it.
It's interesting.
All right, so the Steelers have lost some momentum recently after dropping their last two games,
and now things are going to be a little bit more challenging.
James Conner is out for this week against the Raiders.
And Mike Tomlin said, yesterday they will be doing running back by committee.
Here is his explanation.
That is our intentions as we sit here, but we have a preparation week in front of us,
and sometimes the vision of labor is revealed to you through that work.
We got a great deal of confidence in Ridley.
We got a great deal of confidence in Jalen, particularly of late with Jalen.
He's a guy that's been on the rise in recent weeks.
We've talked about it in here, and Trey's a guy that's played some pro football.
We were excited about getting him on our practice squad when we acquired him,
and so we'll put him in uniform and give him an opportunity to be a contributor as well.
What a position for the Steelers this year, huh?
I don't mind, actually.
I don't mind running back by committee.
I would love it if James Connor was the backup who was part of the committee.
But James is a backup.
So your backups now are real backups.
Well, that's why they're doing it by committee.
So Stephen Ridley and Jalen Samuels,
who are pickups you should probably get if you're in the fantasy football playoffs.
And you had James Connor like me.
Finally, we've heard some of the NBA stars have been somewhat reluctant to join
course it was with LeBron. Ridiculous.
Maybe to some.
You know, like it might be ridiculous to pass up
on the Packers' job to some.
Yeah. But then to others, they don't want to be there.
Kevin Durant, he's been rumored.
We have the Kevin,
what is it, the Kevin LeBrant?
Meter. On their show. On this show.
Well, he told Leach Report, he understands why certain
players don't want to play with the
King. He said, so much hype comes from being
around LeBron. He has so many fan boys in the
media, even the beat writers just spawned over
him. It's not even about basketball.
points so I get why anyone wouldn't want to be in that environment because it's toxic.
I still contend the fanboys quote is one of my favorite quotes ever by Kevin Durant.
I love being called. He's calling me a fan boy. He's calling Nick Ride a fan boy.
He's definitely calling Nick Ride a fan boy. Nick is definitely more on the fanboy side than you are.
You're close. You're tinkering with the fan boy. I'm fan bu. Nick's a full fan boy.
You haven't quite jumped in the pool yet. You know, you've got your feet in. You're splashing around
in the fanboy section.
But I think this is more going to go into the category of reasons why Kevin Durant's
not going to come to the Lakers next season.
You know, we're going to start pulling at all of the little cookie crumbs and, you know,
trying to figure out what everyone's going to do.
Put the puzzle together.
Yeah.
And he's saying that he doesn't, he's saying that environment's toxic.
Really, though, if Kevin can't handle the scrutiny that he's getting playing next to
Steph Curry.
Kevin, by the way, after leaving OKC and Russell Westbrook and going to Golden State and playing
with Steph Curry in the Dynasty and then going to
LeBron and the Lakers. If he can't handle
that, I don't know that the Lakers and LeBron
is a good position for him. I want to have Durant
on my set so bad.
I want him on... I think we'd have to do two
segments with him. Oh, I'd give him the hour.
I'd get Kevin Durant the hour
because I find him fascinating.
Do you see what he did the other night?
He told this, it was funny actually. Everybody laughed.
He told his fan and he goes, why you just shut up and watch
basketball?
Hecklers are out these days.
The hecklers are out. Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Herd Line News.
Here's a great holiday gift this year.
DNA genetic testing kits, 23 and Me through Christmas, 30% off, 23&Me.com slash The Herd.
23&Me.com slash the herd.
I thought today with the firing of an assistant outside linebacker coach, Winston Moss in Green Bay,
it's a perfect time to bring back former Packer Greg Jennings via the Coward Global Satellite Network.
I was shocked that an outside line.
linebacker coach was run off 90 minutes after he put out a fairly innocuous tweet about leadership.
Should be noted, you were the first person, and this shows your strength to kind of question
Aaron's leadership.
Were you surprised that Winston Moss got runoff 90 minutes after a tweet about Aaron Rogers
and leadership?
Not at all.
I wasn't surprised at all.
I mean, I think it's safe to say that it goes beyond just him tweeting this about Aaron Rogers and leadership.
When you think about what he really said, he's challenging everyone in that building.
And Joe Philbin, who was the interim head coach, he's challenging even him.
And when they decided to assign him as the interim head coach, he's saying everybody in this building.
We need to find, they need to find someone in this building,
meaning there's no one in this building that has done that,
specifically on the offensive side of the ball.
And so when you have someone who says that, true or not,
you have to let them go.
But I think this was calculated by Winston Moss.
He understands what his future is.
It's not with the Green Bay Packers.
When you lose a head coach and you've been there for the duration of his tenure,
you're going to be outed as well.
So I think it was calculated.
It is definitely truth in all of what he's saying
because I don't think they have anyone there
or who needs to come in that will have what it takes
to really challenge or critique Aaron Rogers
in a way that stretches him.
Josh McDaniels is rumored.
He is a young man with trophies
and a very strong personality and point of view.
Do you think Josh McDaniels and Aaron would work?
You know Aaron.
You've been in those film rooms, Greg.
Would it work?
I'm not sure it would work because Josh McDaniels is a fiery guy.
And Aaron Rogers is, let's just call a spay, what it is.
He's a more sensitive guy.
And so when you have those two kind of personalities collide,
there's going to be combustion right out the gate.
And even when you think, think about what Aaron's statements were after the firing of Mike McCarthy.
I'm shocked.
Come on, man.
Like, seriously, like, I'm just being honest here, Colin.
Like, when you're dealing with a guy who is unwilling to look at himself, that's going to be problematic.
And not every coach is going to be intrigued about that.
Even his skill set, his talent, all pluses.
But these are the cons that in a lot of eyes outweigh the pros.
You know, there's a rumor about Harbaugh putting himself up for jobs.
I think most NFL jobs are better than even the best college jobs.
is Harbaugh to you like Josh McDaniels
it would be just combustible
because Jim Jim is pretty intense right
I think this feels like a little bit like an older
Josh McDaniels maybe
that would be even
a step above
a guy like Jim Harbar
you want that type of guy
can you hire that type of guy
with that type of personality
understanding who you have in-house
And that's what they have to assess.
You know, they're going to put out, you know,
Aaron Rogers isn't going to be any part of this,
a part of this coaching higher decision.
Number one, that's not all true.
He will because they're going to weigh in his personality,
what he cares to have and not have.
And that is being a part of the decision making.
Jim Harbaugh, he would be phenomenal, I think,
for Aaron Rogers.
If Aaron Rogers would really self-assess something that we all have to do within our
expiration time on this earth or our life expectancy time on this earth, we're going to have
to self-evaluate ourselves and see where we can grow and where we need to kind of alter things.
If he's willing to do that, I think Jim Harbaugh would be the top pick.
But I just don't know if Aaron Rogers will ever be able to do that.
I forget, because I mentioned this a couple of times, I may have mentioned this with you.
I go back to something that's different, that Belichick's called out Brady,
Pete Carroll and defensive players have called out Russell Wilson,
Gruden's called out Derek Carr, the Carolina Panthers called out Cam Newton about two years ago,
is that there's nobody really, there's no owner in Green Bay.
So Farvin Rogers sort of become a de facto owner that they make so much money and they're all-power.
I do think the lack of ownership is a weird situation in Green Bay that it almost puts too much power, not just in Aaron, but in Farr.
Now, I could be fishing here, but I really believe this.
You played with Favre and Rogers.
Is the no owner thing?
Is it different than when you went to Miami and when you played in Minnesota?
Could it be kind of problematic for iconic legendary quarterbacks?
They have too much power?
It is definitely a difference.
It is definitely a difference.
When you have a small town who feels like they have ownership,
they have say their voices are going to be the ones that are heard,
it weighs on an organization because now they don't want to make that hard decision
where it's on them.
It's reflective of everyone.
And when you look at teams that I went to,
even here in Minneapolis with the Vikings,
them having the wills.
Everyone needs to be able to have that owner to where they,
it's separate from everything else.
Like the owner has the final say.
Yeah.
And the Green Bay Packers,
they don't have that.
And it hurts them at times.
It's a unique situation.
I don't think any,
at any point should they ever change that.
It won't ever change.
But I just,
that is definitely a great point that you make.
And I hear you say it often.
And initially,
I never really saw it your way.
I definitely am starting to side with you on that.
Yeah, I mean, I think anytime I hear employees own the company,
I'm always like, well, who's the boss?
Because that's the difference between boxing and UFC.
Boxing didn't have a centralized leader.
UFC had Dana White.
And so that's how they caught up.
When you have a centralized polarizing or not,
you find organizations, college football doesn't have a centralized leader.
You may get mad at Roger Goodell, but the buck stops with Roger Goodell.
And I do think it affects the Green Bay Packers.
Greg Jennings late notice came in today.
Greg, we always appreciate it.
Thank you.
Absolutely.
Thanks for having me.
You bet.
No, I mean, listen, I covered boxing out of college for years, Joy.
The problem with boxing, it was run by promoters, and they all served their self-interest.
UFC, Dana White was serving the interests of the Fritita family.
It's like a centralized.
That's why I never bought into Bitcoin.
There's no centralized bank that says Bitcoin's legitimate currency.
I'm out.
You've got to have strong leadership.
Who leads the Packers?
Well, it's owned by the community.
So the mailman's making the calls?
The UPS driver?
Who's making the calls?
I like strong ownership.
I never buy.
This company is owned by the employees.
I don't want to be making the, I want to do my radio show.
I don't want to own Fox.
It's too big.
It's lunches, it's meetings.
I'm not interested at all.
I want to put my Aaron Rogers mustache on, laugh a little, go home and, you know, play with my dog.
Coming up next, something that hasn't happened in the NFL in nearly a decade.
It is about, I think, to change.
Best for Last coming up next.
Great to have you in.
Cold and flu season.
Try VicSynex nasal spray.
Congestion works out to 12 hours.
Use as directed.
So we're getting ready for the playoffs right now.
In a lot of sports, you don't consider a wild card team capable joy of like winning the World Series or the Super Bowl.
But here's what's interesting.
Since 1980, six wild card teams have won the Super Bowl.
And in fact, since 2000, four wild card teams have won the Super Bowl.
So right now, two teams are out of the playoffs.
Raiders, Niners.
Bad year for the Bay Air.
But if you take out the eight division leaders, there are 22 teams right now with a shot at a wild card.
And I believe two have a chance to win the Super Bowl.
They do a lot of things right.
So in order to find out, do I feel if a team is useless, sort of useful, or good enough to win the Super Bowl,
we're going to play could win or couldn't care less.
Here we go.
Could win or couldn't care less.
Philadelphia Eagles.
All right.
they're six and six. They're currently tied for the current eight seed in the NFC. They got a real
problem. Their schedule is absolutely brutal. They're going to lose three straight. At Dallas,
host the Rams, and then at the Texans, all two of those last three love to throw the ball downfield,
and that's problematic with Philadelphia secondary, so John couldn't care less.
Carolina Panthers.
All right, currently 6 and 6 and a 7 seed.
Let's talk about Philadelphia.
Excuse me, Carolina.
Here's what's problematic for them.
They have not been good situationally.
Cam Newton remains turnover prone.
Christian McCaffrey's been wonderful,
but they have two games remaining with the Saints.
So of the 22 teams, viable right now for a wild card spot,
Carolina is a could.
care less.
Minnesota Vikings.
All right.
They're 6-5-1.
Now, they've lost some wild games.
That game against the Rams was a go-either-way game.
And I think they have a fairly workable schedule.
Miami, Detroit, Chicago at home.
Seattle on the road this weekend is a tough game.
But I think this is a could-win a playoff game team, Minnesota Vikings.
Seattle Seahawks.
This is interesting.
Currently the 5C, a 7-win team right now.
Really, really workable schedule.
Vikings at home, San Francisco 49ers, rebuilding Arizona Cardinals.
Got to play Kansas City, but Seattle does multiple things well.
Super Bowl winning coach, Super Bowl winning quarterback, lead the NFL in rushing,
and oh, by the way, giving up 350 yards a game,
among some playoff teams, not terrible, could win the Super Bowl.
One of my two wildcard teams, I think, could win the Super Bowl.
Not saying that because I'm from Seattle.
This team does the things that Super Bowl winning teams do.
No turnovers, high-end quarterback play, run the football in crappy weather,
and can occasionally get to the quarterback.
Denver Broncos.
Denver's a hard team to figure out.
they play in a tough division.
A division with the Chargers and a division with the Chiefs.
But their schedule works to their favor.
Browns, Raiders, Niners,
they just beat the Chargers and the Steelers.
Denver has a pass rush.
And Case Keenham, when you give them a little bit of a running game,
fairly formidable,
the Broncos to me fall in the could win a playoff game.
Indianapolis Colts.
Now, you know I love.
Andrew Luck, and they do not have a number two receiver, but they have drafted fairly
anonymous running backs, and they have acquired bust-level tight-end Eric Ebron, and it's all
working.
They face Tennessee that dominated, the Giants and the Cowboys, limited offenses, if they
can win this weekend at Houston, now that's a big if, but they've had their success against
Houston. I see the Colts as could win a playoff game. Miami Dolphins.
Listen, this schizophrenic. I mean, here's all you need to know about the dolphins is the team
they really give problems to is New England at home. And this weekend, you know, it's New England
at home. But I come back to this. I think Adam Gase, by and large, has done a pretty good job.
But what kills teams to me is inconsistency. And you have no idea, have to have to happen.
week to week. And Joy, you live there. This is your classic dolphin team.
I don't know what I get week to week, so I frankly, they fall under the couldn't care less.
We're still alive, though, Collins. We're still alive. All right, the Baltimore Ravens.
They're running the football. Those young tight ends are playing well. They've got a workable
schedule down the stretch with Tampa and Cleveland. And frankly, Lamar Jackson is so fresh and so
new, people don't know what is tend to do.
C's are yet. Flacco's a better quarterback, but you've got years of film. You're still trying to
figure out what Lamar can do aerially and what he can't. I think the Ravens fall under the
could win a playoff game. Los Angeles Chargers. Okay, you watch the second half at Pittsburgh.
I mean, they were using backup running backs and seventh round picks, and they put on an absolute
show. Hosts, Cincinnati, Ravens, Denver. Now, they got to go to Kansas City next Thursday on Fox.
good luck with that, but they don't necessarily have to play Kansas City in the playoffs.
They're currently a five seed.
They will probably have to play on the road.
But I will tell you, this is the most talented wild card team of the 22, so I think they fall under, could win the Super Bowl.
The strangest question with them is, if the Chargers win the Super Bowl, ask yourself a question.
question, where would they hold the parade?
San Diego resents them and Los Angeles has no visceral connection.
It's the only team in the history of sports that would win a Super Bowl or win a
World Series and would just basically have a party and not a parade.
All right, let's run through the rest.
Tennessee Titans.
That could not care less.
Green Bay Packers.
That could not care less.
Cleveland Browns.
Could not care less.
New York Giants.
Still eligible?
could not care less.
Bengals,
Jaguars,
Buccaneers,
falcons, lions,
Cardinals, Jets.
Yeah, couldn't care less.
So there you go, it's official.
Two teams can win the Super Bowl.
About five, I think, can win a game.
That's very efficient.
Of the 22
wildcard teams,
and again,
six have won the Super Bowl,
four since 2000.
And I think the Chargers in Seattle
are really dangerous teams.
I'm going on Seattle radio tomorrow.
I'm going on Seattle Radio tomorrow.
I'm very popular.
I'm going to say a nice thing.
Well, not necessarily. I'm polarizing even up there. I was polarizing in my hometown. I'm
polarizing with everybody. Greg CoSell and Chris Broussard are on the show tomorrow. I want to
thank Nick Wright, Kenyon Martin, Alexey Lawless, and Greg Jennings, who stopped by earlier today,
about 25 minutes ago. We're going to have Albert Brer on. We'll try to get him on tomorrow.
Good stuff. You know, I was talking, I don't know how much time we have. A couple stories
on Urban Meyer. Urban Meyer stepped down at Ohio State. I've had a lot of people reach out to me and say,
Colin, what do you know about Urban Meyer? I am not told Urban Meyer is going to the NFL. I am told
Urban Meyer is taking a year off. He's got a place in Naples. He's going to get healthy, kind of a mess
physically. Then he will revisit it. Remember, he's only 54 years old. Last night, a blown call
changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. And nobody's telling you exactly what
happen. That's where SportsSlyce comes in. I'm Timbo. In every episode, we're cutting through the
noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories,
their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to SportsSlic.

Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker
walks up to me, he goes,
hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
