It's a Tuesday loaded show.
This is The Herd.
Wherever you may be and however you may be listening, it is wet as always, Los Angeles.
Joy Taylor is joining me.
It is great to have everybody in today.
Joy, how are you?
You just said it is always wet in Los Angeles.
It's going to rain the next three days.
I feel for all the people that own ski resorts and reservoirs in America, congratulations out west.
It's very strange.
It's been crazy.
It's a cold wet winter in Los Angeles.
We're not complaining, though.
No, no, it's good for the state.
It's good for the, you know, it's good for the farmers.
It's good for the ski resorts.
It's good for California.
It's pouring all the time.
Today we get a brief break.
And by tomorrow, again, I was just told it's going to be pouring.
I was just joking with the guys I retweeted Jimmy Butler today.
I hope that's not tampering.
I'll get to Magic Johnson in a couple of minutes.
Let me start with this, though.
NFL media is smarter than the NBA media.
More sophisticated.
The NFL media doesn't fall for gimmicky stats.
The NBA media still does.
Russell Westbrook's getting all the headlines this morning.
Every article I read, Russell Westbrook makes history 10th consecutive triple double.
Oh my God, it's history.
Every newspaper, every blog.
Oh, my God.
Can you believe it?
Westbrook is making history.
The triple double in the NBA has become hitting for the cycle in baseball.
You do realize that Babe Ruth never hit.
hit for the cycle.
22 years.
Babe Ruth.
Probably the greatest baseball play.
Never hit for the cycle.
Aaron Hill, a journeyman infielder,
hit for the cycle twice in three weeks.
Triple double is hitting for the cycle.
Cool.
Headlines.
Wow.
I'd rather a baseball player go four for four with four jacks out of the stadium.
Because in baseball, the only thing that really matters,
runs scored.
Who leads the league in runs scored?
Cross the plate.
That wins games.
The best player for.
Oklahoma City last night was Paul George again. I don't know if you've noticed. He's arguably
after James Harden, the MVP. He's averaging 40 points a game in February. His plus minus last
night was plus 14. He scored 47 last night. He's the reason they won. Not a headline. Russell
Westbrook's plus minus was plus one. By the way, he's fourth, fourth on his own team in plus minus.
He was one for six last night in threes.
He was five for 19 from the floor.
And that's the headline.
Congratulations NBA media for not getting it.
For falling for a gimmicky stat.
Babe Ruth never hit for the cycle.
Okay, congrats.
Four for four.
I'd rather be four for four with four jacks.
And I don't care about fake rebounds.
Alan Iverson, one career triple double.
because Alan Iverson actually played defense and gave effort on both ends of the floor.
And Alan Iverson wasn't hanging around the rim getting fake rebounds.
Did you hear, there's an amazing piece of audio after the game.
Paul George listened to how totally obsessed with this triple double stat.
By the way, Westbrook can no longer shoot, 65% from the line,
24% from threes, and he knows it.
So he loves this stat because it overshadows the bigger problem.
He's a guard who can't shoot.
You can't be short and not be able to shoot in the NBA.
You can be tall and not be able to shoot,
but if you're short, you've got to be able to shoot.
All right? Sorry, you got to be able to shoot.
Listen to Paul George, by the way, he was a plus 14 after the game.
We talked about it right before that play.
We talked about it.
I was clueless at that moment.
But, you know, he told me the situation.
So it was cool to be on the other end of the triple double.
Yeah, Paul George was actually worried about, you know, winning.
Westbrook came up to him, hey, man, one more of these and you'll have a triple double.
I mean, does Westbrook have one of those fit bits where it tells him, okay, you're almost got a triple double?
Even his assists sometimes are fluff.
He doesn't move the basketball.
you know, if a guy's wide open and he gets doubled, he'll pass to him.
But I feel like sometimes, sometimes even his assists have a fluff feel to him.
But, I mean, you know, the NFL, the NFL media doesn't fall for like passing yards.
Matt Stafford has a million passing yards.
Kirk Cousins has a million passing yards.
Do they have one signature play in the history of their careers?
The NFL media has figured it out that passing yards have a direct correlation to a bad team trailing in a game.
You want to know who led the NFL?
NFL last year on passing yards, the team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers led the NFL in passing
yards.
But the NFL media doesn't freak out over it because it doesn't, what does it mean?
Twelve quarterbacks threw over 4,000 yards last year.
Half didn't even make the playoffs.
So I'm not saying passing yards mean nothing.
You wouldn't want to generally be last in the NFL and passing yards, but it doesn't
translate to wins.
Half the teams that had it last year didn't make the playoffs.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, let it.
Didn't make the playoffs.
All it means is you're generally behind in games and have to throw to catch up.
The triple double.
It grabbed all the headlines last night.
Paul George, to me, is the most valuable player right now in the league, not James Hardin.
James Hardin's the best score.
But he didn't play defense like Paul George.
Paul George is loose, is feeling great.
He's the MVP of the league.
He had 47.
He had a plus 14 plus mine.
And the headline is that stupid triple double garbage?
I mean, I'm sorry, but if you win the game 8 to 7 in baseball,
I don't give a rip about an individual stat for a guy that hit a triple in the third inning
with nobody on and was stranded there.
I mean, the NBA media, it's embarrassing now.
That's the headline.
Not that Paul George is the best two-way player in the NBA this morning.
And unlike Kauai Leonard, he's.
out there every night. Paul George's a best two-way player in the NBA. Not LeBron right now.
Last 60 days, Paul George's best player in the league. If defense matters and call me nutty,
I think it does. All right, I'm going to introduce something new today. Let me shift gears.
The NBA is investigating Magic Johnson and the Lakers if they have potentially violated tampering rules
by, you know, talking about Magic Johnson, talking about Ben Simmons.
It should be noted, Magic Johnson was a great player.
He now leads the NBA in tampering.
He's become very good at it.
Magic Johnson rolls out of bed and he's just tampering.
With the light switch, with his bagel, Magic Johnson tamper's 24-7.
But here's what's happened.
And this happens in life, and I'm going to introduce you to something.
It's called the that's,
Just rule.
Think about that watching, driving.
That's just rule.
Simon Cowell gets to use that.
Simon Cowell can be so mean.
That's just Simon Cowell.
Charles Barkley says things no other broadcaster
broadcasting for the NBA could get away with.
Well, that's just Charles Barkley.
Magic Johnson
talks about players
jokes about stuff
that's just Magic Johnson
it's not tampering
it's who he is
he's fun he jokes
remember when he went on television
Fox remember this can you imagine
Danny Aange of the Celtics
doing this
nobody's watching nobody need to know
what are going to take to bring LeBron to the lake
I'll be in trouble
I'll be in trouble
But you know what?
We're trying to build a championship team
With the Lakers
And hopefully next summer
We'll be in line to sign free agents
It's just magic Johnson
John Daly this engulfed
Is that guy smoking?
You got to kick that guy off the course
That's just John Daly
Many Manny Ramirez
Remember Manny Ramirez
one of the great all-time players for the Red Sox.
Mani Ramirez once cut off a throw,
he was a left fielder.
He once cut off a throw from a center fielder.
Johnny Damon made a play at the wall, balls loose.
Johnny Damon's throwing it back to the infield, the cutoff man.
Mani Ramirez cuts off the cutoff man.
Well, it's just Mani Ramirez.
They even had a term for it.
It's just Mani being Mani.
You watch Gordon Ramsey on those cooking shows?
You're like, what a jerk.
Oh, not really.
It's just Gordon Ramsey being Gordon Ramsey.
It's called, I'll introduce it to you in life, and it matters, and we use it all the time.
The, that's just rule.
Magic Johnson's not tampering.
That's just Magic Johnson.
It's how he talks.
It's how he's always talked.
He's funny.
People like him.
I've been in rooms with Magic Johnson.
He's always smiling.
Even this past week when he was angry at the Pelicans, he was kind of smiling as
he said, you know, there was a lot of stuff out there.
We didn't, of course, give it any of the stuff.
I went to a Laker game a year ago.
It was unbelievable.
I'd never seen anything like it.
And I've got decent seats, right?
I'm around mid-court, about 30 rows up, sitting with the NBA commissioner.
Just joking.
Anyway, I was at the game and I look over to the right.
And the crowd rises.
And I thought there was a fight.
You ever, you ever gone to a stadium and everybody's getting up and you're like, oh,
there's a fight?
And I looked over in the crowd and I couldn't see a fight.
And I looked on the floor and I didn't see a fight.
And the crowd, section by section, by section, by section, by section, was standing.
And finally I saw it.
Magic Johnson, who's been in that building 10,000 times, had simply emerged from the tunnel.
And people stood section by section to get a glimpse.
of a guy they'd seen play, stand, talk in Los Angeles for 30 years.
He's not tampering.
He's a superstar.
That's just magic.
Great stuff today.
We're absolutely packed.
I will tell you that Kyler Murray is going to play in the NFL.
The A's can, by the way, they could pay all they want.
They don't have a ton of money as a franchise.
I would not draft Kyler Murray myself.
but I do think he's a first-round draft pick.
A lot of rumors today, Arizona would like him
at the number one pick, I don't buy it.
But it's the sizzle steak rule,
and I'm a state guy over a sizzle guy,
and I'll explain what I mean coming up next.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing
and we're still chasing it
and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person
while you hear on earth,
or are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

Life throws hurdles big and small.
The question is, how do you conquer them?
On hurdle with Emily Abadi,
we sit down with the most inspiring women
in sports and wellness.
Professional athletes, coaches,
and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them
going from the WMBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards.
If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't.
Like, I've never understood that.
Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.
It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't
feel like you don't feel on.
Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.
An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeke.
The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile,
that means the world to me, and that's what motivates me to win more gold medals.
At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world.
Like, I can do anything.
I can do anything.
Because resilience isn't just about winning.
It's about showing up, even when it's hard.

Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect.
We were God's chosen kingdom on earth.
He felt destined for greatness.
So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back.
Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey.
I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across.
When Jacob met Levin this plant to a billion dollar fraud.
But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive?
The largest tax investigation in American history.
You need to tell me what you know.
Is somebody coming after me?
Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life.

By the way, there's a reason that Boston keeps beating Los Angeles in sports.
Red Sox over the Dodgers, Patriots over the Rams.
There's a reason their hockey team is generally better than the one out here.
And there is a reason for all of this because Boston is a city of steak and very little sizz.
That doesn't mean they didn't have Manny Ramirez.
That doesn't mean Jason Tatum doesn't have some cool in his game.
but the city of Boston with crappy weather, windy, is academically driven, analytically driven.
They have a little, little sizzle.
They're 95% stake.
Los Angeles is, of course, a sizzle town.
And they've got some, they got some steak too, but it tends to lean closer to 50-50 steak and sizzle.
Rams were a lot of sizzle in the Super Bowl.
I didn't get a lot of steak.
I got a lot of sizzle.
I hear that all the time.
Kyler Murray announced yesterday he's going to play in the NFL.
I would not draft him as a franchise quarterback.
I would not, but I do think he's a first round quarterback.
The NFL, the game has changed.
There's more college offense in the pros.
He has a very nice touch throwing the football, terrifically athletic.
There are some red flags, though.
Number one, size.
Okay, he's tiny.
Number two, only played 17 college games.
Historically, that doesn't work.
And, oh, yeah, there was this interview on the Dan Patrick show.
God, I felt sorry for Dan.
The kid knew the question was coming,
but would you want this
to be the leader of your $3 billion
franchise? Here you go.
Do we have the Dan Patrick interview?
Let's just say he was brutal
and didn't answer question.
Dad, is he going to the combine?
Dad had no comment there.
Pro day?
I mean, that's after the combine.
Yeah, are you going to do a pro day?
Yeah?
Yeah.
I guess if you would say, yeah, yeah.
That's going to be the face of my $3 billion franchise.
I knew that interview was coming and those questions were coming.
Had to keep turning to dad.
Okay, he's tiny.
Hasn't played many games.
That ain't great.
Okay, he's going to get drafted and the NFL's changed,
but I want to remind everybody of something.
I see this with parenting.
I see it with business.
NFL's in a very interesting place now,
is that people are giving up on their principles for sizzle.
Big 12 guys run around.
Call what about Patrick Mahomes?
Patrick Mahomes at Kansas City is 95% stake.
Yeah, occasionally he throws without looking.
He is a 6-3, 228-pound rocket-arm quarterback who is great from the pocket.
That is all steak.
Who's funny in front of a microphone?
Who's big and tall?
who can run but would prefer to throw it from the pocket.
Don't tell me Patrick Mahomes is sizzle.
Patrick Mahomes is about 5%.
That kid is steak.
He is big.
He is strong.
He's got a rocket arm.
He is unbelievable in front of a microphone.
I'd give my franchise to Patrick Mahomes any day of the week.
That kid's a franchise quarterback.
Kyler Marie small, only played 17 games, and that interview is embarrassing.
That is not on Dan Patrick.
That is not on Dan Patrick.
He's asking legitimate question.
That's on the kid.
That's embarrassing.
Okay.
And let me just say this.
This is happening in America.
I saw it in the NFL with Mitch Trubisky.
Mitch Trubisky for the Bears has to run to be successful,
will never be an elite thrower, and played one year of college.
And the Bears drafted him number one.
None of those things say number one pick.
I mean, Lamar Jackson at least went later in the first round,
but Lamar has to run to be successful.
will never be an elite
thrower, and he became a first round quarterback.
Like, this is the way it works, folks.
Six, three, or taller, prefer to throw off in the pocket.
Generally, less mobility is actually better
because it forces you to learn the pocket game faster.
Russell Wilson's an outlier.
Russell Wilson ran too much early.
Then about year three, he totally committed to the pocket,
and now he runs.
But when Russell Wilson runs, it's all about throwing.
He is keeping his eyes downfield.
I'm going to throw.
I want to throw.
I want to throw.
So Dwayne Haskins of Ohio State is the best quarterback in this draft.
He's not athletic.
He's just big, tall, and strong and throws the ball accurately.
I'll just lay it out right here.
I took Donald over Baker and I still think 10 years down the road.
That's going to be the winning formula.
I'll take Ohio State's quarterback.
He doesn't run around.
He doesn't need to run to be successful.
He borders on unathletic.
He's not really an athlete.
In fact, when he runs, his.
accuracy dips, he can move a little to his throwing side.
I'll take the Ohio State guy.
I'll take the Ohio State.
I'm going to go with a steak.
I'm going with 6'4.
I'm going with a rocket arm.
I'm going in the pocket.
I'm going with a guy that's got no mobility.
I'm taking Dwayne Haskins.
Because I'm seeing this now happen all the time in America.
Folks, the rules for parenting don't change.
Don't give your kid a BMW at 16.
Don't get your daughter enhancements at 16.
Don't do that.
I don't care what Twitter tells you to do.
Love your kid.
Go to bed early.
Do your homework when you get home from school.
Treat others like you like to be treated.
Nothing in parenting changes.
Be there for your kid, not out partying.
Nothing changes with parenting.
I don't care about Twitter.
Keep them off at most of the time.
And nothing changes for quarterbacks.
Who's at the Super Bowl?
Who runs the current dynasty?
By the way, Drew Brees is not ideal height, but all the other things, accurate, pocket, workaholic, grown up, all the things I want, Drew Brees is.
I wish he was two inches taller.
And Kyler-Marie's going to play in the NFL.
I'm not saying that.
He's going to get drafted in the first round.
I'm not saying that.
But man, I'm seeing NFL teams now.
Mitch Trubisky really jumped out to me.
Bail on long-held understood beliefs.
just because football has changed a little, it hasn't changed a lot.
Good tackling matters.
Don't turn the ball over matters.
I mean, all the stuff that wins the Super Bowls, be smart.
Nope, the New England Patriots, don't get penalized.
Never fumble.
Never get called for whaling.
Don't turn the ball over in the red zone.
Don't give up many points.
Are good with special teams.
Are always among the best tacklers.
Don't drop passes.
That's how New England win Super Bowls.
They don't win Super Bowls because it's like,
They got this new, crazy, fangled wildcat.
That wildcat didn't win squat.
All right.
And Mitch Trubisky couldn't win a playoff game.
And Lamar Jackson was fun.
He didn't win a playoff game.
He didn't beat that team he was supposed to beat.
He played the second time either.
Stakeover sizzle.
Dwayne Haskins, my guy.
Kyler Murray's going to get drafted.
Ten years down the road, may even have a better rookie year.
Because nobody's going to know how to defend him initially.
Nobody's going to know how to defend Kyler Murray when he comes in the league for the first 12, 15 games.
They're going to be like,
Lord, where is that guy? I can't see him.
But I'll take Haskins 12 years in.
Joy with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So the Celtics are currently fifth in the east.
They're going to a little rough stretch, both on and off the court.
After losing to the Lakers on a Rondo buzzer beater, they blew a 28-point lead to the clippers on Saturday and were booed off their home court.
And now, Ryan Winhorse is reporting that Jason Tatum wouldn't mind getting traded to the Pelicans this.
summer as a part of a deal for Anthony Davis.
Excuse me? Yes. He said on ESPN radio, the gossip is Jason Tatum
wouldn't mind if he's shipped to New Orleans and has a chance to be the face of a
franchise somewhere because he's not going to get that opportunity in Boston, at least
not in the immediate future. Now, this may sound dramatic, but he's averaging 18.3
points per game and 36 minutes with the Celtics. He really should have been the number one
overall pick. Yes, yes. That's fine, but Michael Jordan wasn't. Okay, but Tatum really
has hardened post-OKC potential.
He does.
Does he want to win or not?
Are they going to win in Boston?
Is this situation really going to turn out the way that they're planning on it?
They've got a lot of guys playing for contracts.
A lot of young guys.
They have huge chemistry issues.
Do you have a good coach and a good GM and are you well-funded?
And do you have history?
I think Jason Tatum has a potential to lead a franchise.
He's not going to get that opportunity in Boston.
Okay.
So again, what matters?
Do you want to win?
Because he'll get paid there, by the way.
He'll get paid a lot of money there.
I mean, if he can do what Hardin's doing,
would you consider that to be a success?
Hardin only won when Chris Paul said,
I'll come play with you.
Well, he's not going to play by himself.
He's going to need another piece, obviously.
Nobody wants to play in New Orleans.
That's the problem.
You're going to go to a franchise.
Nobody wants to play in.
That neighborhood is a neighborhood in New Orleans
that other stars don't want to be in.
Boston may not be the best place for free agents.
But it's a place.
It's not Indiana.
it might not be the best place for Jason Tatum either.
And he's likely going to get moves because he's been in lots of trade conversations.
So tell me, this is funny.
Kyrie Irving's heard again.
Jason Tatum doesn't want to be there.
It's just a report that he wouldn't mind going to New Orleans.
Jason Tatum didn't come out and say trade me.
If I came out and said, you know, I wouldn't mind working at the Bravo Network.
That's saying I'm not happy here.
You know, Vice is an interesting channel.
I wouldn't say that because I'm, I wouldn't say that.
I like it where I'm at.
I think Jason Tatum is a very impressive player, and I think he could be the face of a franchise.
If you said, you know, I wouldn't mind marrying my neighbor.
She's a very nice lady.
That's not a good thing to say for your wife to hear.
He didn't say it, though.
It's just a report from Brian Windhorst.
The news is always accurate.
There's no such thing as fake news.
I'm not saying the report is fake news.
I'm just saying it's just a report.
There's no need to panic.
What has happened?
Did these players not want to win games?
He does want to win games.
That's the point.
The situation in Boston is troublesome.
It's weird.
Okay.
And Tatum has that potential.
You know, Earl told me at his pre-draft workout.
You got to tell people who Earl is.
Earl Watson is my fiancé.
Yeah.
Okay, he was a former coach of the sons.
And a great guy and basketball player.
Yes.
He said that instead of shooting layups or jump shots for his warm-up,
he shot corner threes and made 35 straight before he was asked to move on to something else.
He's a very impressive player.
And he may not get his opportunity in Boston, which is maybe why this report is happening.
So after the news came out this morning that Kyla Murray was hiring the same agent as Cliff Kingsbury,
we stumbled across an article by our own Jason McIntyre that detailed a potential landing spot for Josh Rosen.
Oh, Lord.
Should the Cardinals decide to trade him to New England?
There were rumors that Belichick liked Rosen's before last year's draft.
So, basically, McIntyre details how this would all work through a trade.
the Cardinals would take
Kyler Murray. Wait a minute.
That's interesting.
So the Cardinals who have a bad offensive line,
I mean, it's really a junko line.
It's old and unathletic.
How do you solve that initially in shorter time?
Get me a quarterback who can move.
Rosen can't move.
So New England says,
listen, we got 12 draft picks.
We'll give you three or four draft picks.
You give us Rosen as a backup.
Oh, my God, this is fascinating.
This is fascinating.
Talk about a win for Josh Rose.
I don't know that Rosen is a great fit for New England, though.
He's cerebral.
He's acting.
You know how Belichick is?
I don't know that his personality is the best fit for New England.
Everything else makes sense, and he would have a couple years to sit behind Brady and develop.
God.
He's not Tom Brady.
Okay, can I just say this is the new greatest story that may never happen in the history of sports radio?
I love it.
I love the idea of it, but I'm just saying the Tom Brady prototype personality.
like Rosen's outspoken.
He has things to say.
He does, but I do think
we're seeing this with all athletes.
They're just more mobile and more outspoken.
As a coach, you've got to deal with some of it.
Not all of it.
I mean, that Kyler-Murray stuff with Dan Patrick.
Belichick's going to do that at the quarterback position?
I think even he in the last year
since Malcolm Baller has lightened up a little.
In fact, I was told for the Super Bowl,
the Saturday before the Super Bowl,
at their walkthrough, he allowed kids
and wives to all come.
He'd never done that before
that Belichick invited family.
He's getting loose now?
I'm not saying he's loose.
I'm saying Belichick invited family
to the Saturday pre-Super Bowl.
He'd never done that before
that he has loosened up some.
It would be very interesting, that's for sure.
Finally, the Lions are one of the five teams
that can be forced to appear on hard knocks this season,
but they appear to be doing everything
they can to deflect the show to another team.
Let's take a listen to Matt Patricia,
what Matt Patricia thinks about it.
I think John Gruden is an excellent choice for that show.
I think the Oakland Raiders and everything that got going on right now
would be a fantastic viewing for everybody to watch.
He doesn't want anything.
He's a former patriot.
He knows this stuff's garbage.
Right.
Gruden responded to Patricia's comments and a text to ESPN's Paul Zutierrez writing LOL.
I do not like that a team has to do this.
I hate it.
I think it's a colossal distraction.
It almost always correlates with.
a bad season. It's just
the part of your season
where you're trying to put everything together
and establish your culture and you show
these guys getting cut. I mean, granted,
I love the show. It's a great show.
But the fact that teams are forced to do it,
it's the lions, the Raiders, the 49ers,
Giants, and Redskins. And they can't
say no. I love Gordon Ramsey
but I wouldn't want my
stepson who's a chef to have
to work for Gordon Ramsey. I can be entertained
with something on television and not
wanting to be part of my life. Like a
Hard knocks is wildly entertaining.
I don't want my football teams involved with it.
I don't like that they have to do it.
And I get what Patricia's doing.
But I also do not think that the Raiders should be the ones to do it this year.
They don't even know where they're going to be playing.
So on top of everything else, you're going to, you don't even know where you're going to play your games.
And now you've got Hard Knocks there.
I honestly don't think the NFL is going to do that this year for that reason.
There's too much going on there.
But it may end up with Matt Richard.
What a good herd line today.
Thank you.
That may have been your best.
Thank you.
That was just all sorts of stuff.
You were just props away from setting a new standard in the industry.
Very good.
Hopefully my next sewer is.
Put a lot of heat on you right there.
Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
Okay.
Broussard, get in here.
I don't even understand this.
I do.
This is Chris Broussard, the voice of NBA at this network, the trusted ambassador of basketball on this show.
Okay, first of all, let's address.
I like Brian Winhorst.
You know Brian Winhorst.
Yes, I know Brian well.
I think Brian does a very good job.
He does.
He's a fine reporter.
And generally, if he says something, he's not making crap up.
Okay.
Jason Taylor.
Okay, so I have always said the way to rebuild is the way the Celtics are doing.
They didn't tank.
They were competitive.
They hired a good coach.
They drafted well.
They went all the trades.
So they're doing it right.
But I'm going to say something right now.
I think what's happening in the NBA is rebuilding is crap.
Boston now, all this rebuilding.
Gordon Hayward doesn't fit.
Kyrie's hurt, and now Jason Tatum wants to be the face of the franchise.
Is that while the franchise is patient, players are no longer patient.
Well, it's tough to be on two different time tables.
So you've got Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Gordon Hayward, and so on.
And they are trying to win now.
They're veterans who want to win the championship now.
Then you've got young guys like Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown, so on and so forth.
And I'm telling you, when you're a young guy, your number one priority is to establish
yourself as a star so you can get a max contract.
Remember, this is a business for these guys.
If you're of that caliber, it's one thing if you're just a Josh Hart who, no disrespect
to him, but you know, you're a role player.
But if you have star aspirations and star caliber talent, then you're trying to be a star,
get that max contract, and then the win.
becoming becomes a priority.
And we treat them like that.
When a guy's young, first couple years, heck, Anthony Davis right now, we're not holding
it against him that he never wins.
We're just saying, look at the numbers.
He's a superstar.
He's only 25 years old.
Carl Anthony Towns.
It's just now beginning to become a problem for people that, hey, this dude never wins.
You know, so that's how the NBA works.
So now in Boston, you've got Kyrie and so on.
and so forth, ready to win now.
And then you've got Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown, Terry Rozier,
still in their rookie deals who are looking at their miss.
They're looking at last season when they made the playoffs without Kyrie.
And they made the Eastern Conference finals game seven without Kyrie.
Terry Rozier was averaging 36 minutes a game, 16 points, 14 shots.
Not anymore.
He's averaging 23 minutes, 9.8 shots.
Jalen Browns, all those numbers have dropped for him.
Tatum's have dropped slightly.
He's still shooting about the same, but his points have dropped.
So they're looking at it as a business standpoint, which I get.
LeBron and Kyrie and everybody else looks at it as a business too.
And they're like, this isn't helping my business.
I got to get this deal.
So even if consciously they're with it or trying to be with it,
subconsciously, they know that this is not good for their careers.
I got to tell you.
I look at this Celtics rebuild, and I think we have things happening.
LeBron has been very much about player mobility and player empowerment, which I'm for,
but it can be disruptive.
No, question.
This Boston Celtic thing now does not feel nearly as viable and dynamic as a year ago.
It just does not.
Not at all.
And the other thing is, and I may have said, I'm not sure if I've said that on this show yet,
But Brad Stevens, very good coach.
Yeah.
But there are coaches who when you don't have a lot of talent,
you don't have any stars and any egos, they get the max out of you.
They bring you far and you look at it like, wow, this coach is fantastic.
But then there are those that can do that, but you give them some stars,
and they can't maximize it.
And some that are vice versa.
They're good with stars, but not good with just average players.
Phil Jackson was great with stars.
Right.
Joe Torrey, the baseball manager.
With the Yankees and before that, he struggled.
He had a losing record, but you gave him Jeter A-Rot and a combustible.
Have you ever been around Joe Tori?
Oh, yeah.
I mean, he's like the strict stepdad you don't screw with, but totally respect.
He's your little league coach.
And he's not even your real dad.
He's your stepdad, but you don't mess with him.
Even when you get big and strong as a teenager, and you totally, every kid in the neighborhood's like, oh, Joe Tori.
Yeah.
Colin, don't mess with Joe Torrey.
There's something to be said about this.
This is fascinating.
Brad Stevens at Butler took two-star recruits.
Right, right.
Right.
Now you got some egos.
You got a legitimate superstar.
That's what Kyrie Irving is.
Here's the thing Boston has to realize.
And Danny Ains does.
And this is why he's moving the way he is.
Number one, he knows, yeah, we can be good.
We can get to the playoffs without Kyrie.
but we can't win a championship without Kyrie and probably another superstar.
Only twice, Colin, in the history of the NBA,
have teams won championships without a superstar leading away.
Detroit Piston, Seattle Sonics.
That's it.
That's it.
The history, not just in the last 40 years, the history.
So that's why he wants to keep Kyrie,
and that's why he's willing to give up all these other guys for Anthony Davis,
because he knows at least I have the building block of a championship.
championship team, and that's what you need in Boston.
Okay, don't go anywhere.
This is one topic.
Boy, you have delivered it today.
Thank you.
This was a fascinating.
I think this is fascinating.
I was all in on the Celtics, and now I got Jason Tatum.
I want to go to a crappy franchise and be the guy.
I don't blame guys for wanting to be the guy, but what happened to winning?
Yeah.
Wow.
Okay, okay.
Stay there.
I got the Westbrooky stat award.
I can't believe the way you kill the Westbrook.
I'm going to set you straight.
Good luck with that.
My mom tried that for 18 years.
Then I went to college.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd.
Weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.
Said it earlier today.
I am beside myself.
In the NFL, everybody understands that passing yards are a gimmicky stat that don't mean anything.
12 quarterbacks through for 4,000 yards.
Half didn't make the playoffs.
It generally means you trail late in games.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers led the NFL in passing yards.
They literally did.
the triple double has become that
that Ile and Iverson did it once
because he played defense and didn't give me fake rebounds
he got out of me.
He got steals.
He wasn't a great defender.
He was physical for his size
and he didn't do fake rebounds.
So this triple double thing,
last night Paul George is plus 14,
scores 47 points.
In my opinion, you can argue he's the MVP with James Harden.
And all the headlines are, hey, the guy that was one for six on threes is shooting 65% had a plus minus of one got all the headlines.
Can we acknowledge now the triple double has become a junk staff?
No, we can't.
Fake rebounds.
Let me take your football analogy.
Okay, you're right.
Passing yards because you can get a lot of yards when the game is over.
Junk yards.
But what if you've got a ton of passing yards and you win?
Then they become significant.
Pat Mahone's passing yards.
yards aren't insignificant. Those 5,000 yards he threw for are legit because they win.
You know what the Oklahoma City Thunder record is these three years that Westbrook has
averaged a triple double when he gets a triple double? Well, they win most of their games.
No, but they win a lot more when he gets a triple double. Seventy two and 20. That's a 64 win
pace when he gets a triple double. He's helping his team win. Really, those fake rebounds. They're
not fake rebounds. Why doesn't
anybody else get fake rebounds in the entire
league? If it's that easy,
Colin, he just
did something that nobody
in the history of
basketball.
Not Wilk. Not Wilk.
Most of Wilts' records
we don't even like, we just
don't even think about challenging them
because they're so cartoonish.
When you do something, Wilk
Chamberlain never did.
That's incredible.
You don't think that Westbrook, literally Paul George said after the game last night.
Paul said, I didn't know how to triple double.
Russell came up to me and said, hey, I can get you a triple double.
You need one more assist.
Paul George, who wants to win, it's like, I didn't have any idea.
You don't think Westbrook now, by the way, he can't shoot.
That's not disputable.
And as he's become a worst shooter and it's in his head, you've acknowledged he's a broken shooter.
He's doing, he's more inclined to go triple doubles because it masquerades, it's blemish
on the pimples, which is dude can't shoot.
And so the triple doubles become the talking point instead of us going.
Could Jason Kidd shoot till the end before, like when Jason Kidd was really a tremendous player,
could he shoot?
He was a career 40% shoot.
Jason Kidd was a winner.
He wanted to win.
He never worried about staff.
He didn't win anymore than Russell Westbrook has.
He went to a dumpy.
He won a championship at the end when he was at the end of his career.
I watched him play in high school.
Jason Kidd was about winning.
He made the winning play.
Did he lead any teams to championships?
Russell Westbrook can't get out of the first round.
Russell Westbrook had Golden State down 3-1 in the Western Conference finals.
What could or should have.
And he's been to the finals once.
He's screaming at Utah fans last year.
He's melting down.
Look, Russell Westbrook has become a better passer.
You watch him, and he is now not getting those assists where I'm trying to score,
oh, I can't let me kick it to you.
He's looking for guys.
He's setting guys up.
And Paul George, this is no coincidence, Paul George, Stephen Adams, Dennis Schrooter, and Jeremy Grant are all having career years.
Because Westbrook has become a better facilitator.
Yeah, no, because he can't shoot so Westbrook knows.
Could Alan Iverson, the year he won MVP led Philly to the finals, shot 42%.
We're killing Westbrook because he's basically shooting 42%.
Yeah, but in Iverson's years, the hand check.
The game, it's much easier to shoot 42% today.
You don't think it is.
You can get, you can get.
Defense is not what it used to be.
I'll give you that.
And I'm not saying Westbrook can shoot,
but I just gave you every number.
His teammates are playing better.
His team is 9 and 1 in this 10 game stretch.
They're the third seed in the West.
He's 72 and 20 when he gets a triple double.
He's done something that nobody has ever picked up a basketball has done,
including Wilts Chamberl.
There's no way to just say this is not impressive.
By the way, nobody in the NBA shot free throws as poorly as Chris Dudley.
Nobody ever did.
So am I supposed to be impressed with that?
No, no, no, no.
This is a positive step.
Nobody had a jump on it.
Magic could not do it.
Oh, God.
Magic could not do it.
LeBron could.
Jason Kidd could not do it.
LeBron could score 50 a night.
I want to see it then.
I'm tired of hearing it, and I love LeBron, as you know.
I'm tired of hearing he could.
He could.
He could.
Do it.
You don't think.
This dude's doing it.
You don't think LeBron.
could do a triple double-up if LeBron cared about stats.
I deal with facts.
My hypotheticals.
He hasn't done it.
I deal with winners.
You don't think LeBron cares about stats.
I don't.
I don't think Magic Johnson cared about stats.
Look, talking to Magic, I don't really think Magic care.
Well, no, you're talking about the worst loss of his career.
LeBron's 15 years in.
There's a big stat that said he's an all-time guy and he goes, hey, man, I love the game.
But I never feel LeBron's like, hey,
What's my Fitbit say?
I've seen pictures of LeBron on vacation with a T-shirt that said,
Check my stats.
Seriously.
There's on the internet I saw it.
You know what?
Check my stats.
This is terrible.
That's what's going to be LeBron's claim to fame.
When the argument is made, he's the goat, it's going to be, look at his stats.
One more herd?
The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week, within the I-Hard Radio,
app. Search Herd to listen live or on demand whenever you'd like.
Ah, here we go. Hour 2. This is the herd, wherever you may be and however you may be listening
live in Los Angeles. Iheart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1. I'm told Antonio Daniels,
Oklahoma City broadcaster will join me in 15 minutes. He wants to support Westbrook and that
gimmicky stat that he's chasing fake rebounds. It drives me nuts. There's 17 and 6 this season when he has a
By the way, this franchise for eight years has been great.
They've had Durant, they've had Hardin, they've had Westbrook, they have Adams, they have Russell, they have Westbrook, they have a good coach, they have a good GM.
This organization wins all the time.
Now everybody goes, well, when Westbrook's super volume in it, they win 60% of their games because they're the team.
And now Westbrook's not shooting anymore because he can't shoot and he's facilitating more.
And my point is now he's actually a good, well, now he's actually the kind of point guard that advances in the playoffs.
Not this exhausting score a million point quarterback or a point guard.
Like he's actually can't shoot anymore.
So that flaw in his game is forcing him to be a better passer and a better teammate.
And now it's really interesting.
Now they have a chance to win multiple playoffs series.
Let me start the hour with this, though.
That was Joy Taylor.
So this is fascinating.
Brian Hoyer is the backup quarterback for the New England Patriots.
He came out in the last couple of days.
He was interviewed.
And he says he became.
during preparation for the Super Bowl, Jared Gough.
And that he watched ESPN Plus on Jared Gough.
He watched the NFL network interview with Gough and McVeigh.
He watched the Amazon series All or Nothing on the Rams.
And he was able to find language and tells like poker that helped the Patriots completely shut down the Rams.
due to media exposure, the Rams were tracked by the Patriots and literally completely shut them down.
By the way, the irony here is years ago, the New England Patriots got in trouble for taping a team,
and in 2019, the Rams gave them the tape.
Do you ever see the Patriots and Hard Knocks?
Nope.
Ever see him on that Amazon Prime series, all or nothing?
Nope. You ever see their Patriots on ESPN Plus? Nope. Nope. You never see the Patriots on any of that. Rex Ryan, the media love Rex Ryan. Can't get a job. The media love Jerry Glanville. Never stopped talking. Couldn't get a job. Media, John Gruden never stops talking. Cleveland Browns, John Dorsey, in the news every 15 minutes. Pittsburgh Steelers, never stopped talking. With a new English.
England Patriots, even with Gronk, a major personality, pulls it in, doesn't talk.
Even Grunk, who walked into this league as a star personality, they shut him down.
By the way, former Patriot Matt Patricia, attempting to get hard knocks off the lions into
the Raiders.
There is zero benefit in the NFL to transparency.
None.
Stay off hard knocks.
Stay off Amazon Prime.
Stay off ESPN Plus.
Don't talk.
There is like no advantage to it.
The Rams were completely stifled.
And Brian Hoyer, who played Jared Goff in the two weeks of practice,
now admits I went to all these different formats and platforms.
The Rams were talking.
I watched their practice.
I heard some audibles.
I heard the language.
And I knew what they were going to do.
Hoyer joked.
I guess that's the downside to putting yourself out there like that.
Wow.
Wow.
By the way, there's a breaking story in the NFL that Joy Taylor, I don't know if it rises to breaking story,
but it's a story that is emerging in the NFL with a superstar,
and Joy Taylor will have that in about 15 minutes.
I want to segue to this.
You know I like LeBron James because he cares about winning.
You know I like the Golden State Warriors,
because even though I think
Kevin Durant's into Kevin Durant sometimes too much,
they do it the right way.
So James Harden and the NBA media,
the fanboys, the pom-pom waivers,
are just going crazy because James Harden
score over 30 points again last night.
And everybody's going crazy.
Oh my God, James Harden.
It should be noted in a blowout game
he scored last night to score 31 points
to keep the streak alive.
He should not have been in the game,
but the Houston Rockets,
to keep his streak alive kept him in a blowout game.
so he would get over 30 points.
This is the difference between LeBron and James Hardin
and the Warriors and the rest of the league in James Hardin.
The two entities that drive the ratings in this league
are LeBron, James, and the Golden State Warriors.
James Hardin is staying in blowouts to set personal records.
Westbrook, let me goose stats to get my triple double.
Of course, enabled by their coaches.
Last week, Houston was down by
19 at Denver.
Fourth quarter, minute and a half to go.
Why was he in the game?
There's no reason to have a superstar in a game.
Minute and a half to go, blowout.
Oh, they took him out of the game 40 seconds later.
After he hit a meaningless three to continue his streak.
Yep.
What matters?
LaRont James, titles matter.
Golden State Warriors, titles matter.
Harden-Westbrook, stats matter.
Houston now is keeping him in games,
meaningless shots,
in blowout wins and losses,
to set numbers.
That's what matters.
And you do know, January, February,
Hall of Famers don't win titles.
Struggle to win playoff series.
We've seen Hardin and Westbrook both gassed at the end of seasons.
Should be noted,
Clay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors
set a three-ball record.
He had 14-3s against Chicago.
They pulled him out of the game with four minutes to go in the third quarter.
Third quarter.
He could have hit six more.
They didn't even let him play in the fourth.
They took him out with four minutes to go in the third quarter.
Never went back.
You know, I always said this.
I used to work in local news.
Joy, do you work in local news?
Not news, but local sports.
In local news, I worked in local news for 14 years.
There were two types of people.
The people that had confidence, were really good,
and cared about breaking stories and news.
And then there were the type of people that were less talented, but they wanted to have an Emmy reel and win awards, feel good about themselves.
So the boss thinks I'm really good.
But in local news, we all know who can play and who can't.
You don't have to worry about winning Emmys.
When the red light goes on, there's people in every newsroom that are players.
They can just talk their way through a battleship.
And there's people that fill up their Emmy reel because they want to win awards and put it on their resume and press the ball.
losses and they're never as talented as the other people who don't give a crap about that.
And I've worked with a lot of both.
And let me tell you, in the NBA, there's guys goose on their stats and that care about the MVP.
James Hardin wants to win the MVP.
Congrats.
But the Golden State Warriors worried about stats one time.
Do you remember that?
There was one time the Warriors were into records.
Remember that year when they kept playing their starters extra minutes?
And they wanted to set the NBA record for regular season wins.
And they did.
And do you remember what happened at the end of that year?
They were gassed.
And they admitted it.
They had multiple players hurt.
They were gassed.
So go ahead.
Chase records.
Win the MVP.
Win plaques.
But January and February is not where you win NBA championships.
In fact, I would argue, I wouldn't even argue this.
I think you could find it statistically.
What's LeBron's worst month?
It's January.
It's January.
LeBron's really not a very good January player.
He starts the season.
He gets in shape.
The trading deadline comes in and he just kind of waits to get the right roster.
He is statistically much better after the All-Star break.
Yeah.
Because LeBron is about winning, gaining momentum late, getting chemistry and defense
locked in late, winning.
winning playoff series of which LeBron's never lost a first round
playoff series.
Westbrook can't get out of the first round.
James Harden struggles sometimes out of the first round.
I know I seem like a hater today.
I'm really not.
I swear to God.
You do seem like a hater today.
A little bit.
Just a tiny, I have like 3% hater in me today.
I'm just, I'm not into all this.
And now you told me, and I'm beside myself on this,
Jason Tatum wants to leave the Celtics.
It's just a report.
He did not come out and ask for a trade.
It's just a report that he wouldn't mind playing for the Pelicans.
That's a terrible franchise.
Maybe you can turn it around.
Can you imagine in our business, you and me leaving Fox and saying,
I want to go to this cable company that has a history of complete incompetence
so we can be the team.
No, I'd rather work with undisputed and speak for yourself and first things for,
I want to work with talented people.
What is this thing?
I have to be the star.
What is that?
Don't you want to be in a winning team?
Doesn't that speak a little more to what's happening in Boston right now?
God, this was the gold standard for rebuilding.
Now I got Kyrie hurt.
Tatum's not interested.
What did they rebuild to?
Well, they didn't.
I mean, Phoenix Instincts.
You just said it's about championships.
This rebuilding stuff is fascinating.
It's just useless now.
If it doesn't work for Boston, it doesn't work.
I'm not saying what's happening in Boston is a failure.
I'm just saying if the standard of four or.
rebuild as a championship. They haven't reached that yet.
All right. I got, Joy is going to have a big story.
Antonio Daniels and I are just going to go toe to toe to.
I love Antonio, but this whole triple double thing, we've got to stop with it.
Just stop getting triple doubles.
I'm just nonsense. It is nonsense.
That's coming up.

Life throws hurdles big and small.
The question is, how do you,
conquer them. On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports

Five days, the greatest event in motorsports is back.

I cannot say the same.
By the way, Vic Synex nasal spray. Try it. Cold and flu season, 12 hours.
It's cold in Los Angeles.
as everybody's sick. Joy Taylor, me, Colin Coward. I got to go to, Joy has got a great story in
Heardline News. Joy had her best heardline news an hour ago as a ton of pressure on Joy Taylor.
I feel strongly about our two. It was magnificent. You could not do better. And from that point forward,
we're just judging her all based on the first hour. That'll come up. I want to go on the phone right now
to a great young broadcaster, played in the NBA for 13 years. Disagrees with me a lot. I don't think on
everything, Antonio Daniels. He's the Oklahoma City Thunder analyst on Fox Sports, Oklahoma. I
covered him in Portland, and he's a very good analyst, and he's joining me on the phone.
All right, let me start. Before I get into the triple double stuff that wears me out, let me just
start with this. It does discourage me. I think Paul George is the MVP of the league. I think
he's changed the culture there. He's playing so good Antonio that Westbrook, I think, understands
he should be taking the shots late. He plays on both ends of the floor. He's averaging like,
close to 40 a game in February.
So let me just start there before I start bashing.
I think Paul George is now so good that Westbrook understands,
hey, I'm the second best player right now on this team.
Do you believe that?
Well, to me, it's not about Russell understanding that he's the second best player on the team.
It's about Russell understanding and sacrificing what's best for this team.
And what's best for this team is Paul George doing exactly.
what he's doing now.
The thing about players is, as you mature, you grow.
The longer that you play in this league, you grow.
And Russell has learned.
He's learned.
He's seeing what Paul George is doing, but Russell is still getting an opportunity
to be himself, but also understanding, you know what, for this team to be as good
as we can possibly be.
I need Paul George to be Paul George.
I need Paul George to give us 29, 8, 4, and 2.5 stills game.
And I agree with you.
Right now, Paul George is definitely the MVP of the league.
You can make an argument for James Hardin.
You can make an argument for Janus Ante Cuccoe.
I watched Paul George go head to head with both of those guys
and outplayed them both on a national stage.
He is a two-way player.
And right now, because of his availability, he's the best two-way player in the league.
I completely agree with that.
Kauai Leonard, I would say, is better if they go night to night, but Kauai's not as
available.
And frankly, I like Paul George's personality.
It's a little more even keel for me.
Now let me shift to the bad guy, Colin, which is after the game last night, Paul George admitted that Westbrook came up to him and said, hey, you can get a triple double if you get one more of these.
And Paul George didn't even know it wasn't paying attention to it, that Westbrook, as his shooting, has dramatically declined, even at the free throw line, that he is becoming, to end that talking point for the media, he is now too concerned about triple doubles.
I don't, Paul George has no ID, he's got one.
Westbrook comes up and reminds him,
isn't it at least fair to acknowledge that Westbrook's a small guy that can't shoot
and he seems more concerned with triple doubles than he's ever been concerned with him?
No, for me, Russ is a guy that's more concerned with winning than anything else.
Here's the thing.
Here's the thing, Colin.
When I came on with you this summer,
your narrative was Russ is a bad teammate and he's hard to play with.
But now Paul George is having a career year, Jeremy Grant's having a career year,
Terence Ferguson is having a career year, and Stephen Adams is having a career year.
And Dennis Schrooter has blending in seamlessly.
So now that argument has lost steam.
So now we have to shift to something else.
And here's my thing.
If you told me when I played in the league, if there was something that I did for any particular team that I played for,
that allowed my team to win 78% of the time, I would do it.
Since 2016 and 17, Russ has triple-doubled 90 times.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are 70 and 20 in those 90 triple doubles.
You can't argue that.
Regardless if he knows it or he doesn't know it, it translates to wins.
And that's the most important thing.
What about James Harden staying in blowouts to get 30?
They don't pull him out of games until he hits a meaningless three to get 30.
Doesn't it bother you?
Golden State one time has gone for a record and they got it, 73 wins.
They were gassed a month later.
Injuries gassed.
Harden now is staying and playing in blowouts to set records.
It seems to me he's too consumed with the MVP.
Is that a fair criticism?
Is he too consumed with MVP or too consumed with keeping this team afloat so they can win?
Because here's the thing.
We put players now in a situation where they can't win no matter what.
Because if James Hardin was averaging 20 points a game and not going on this scoring streak that he's going on of 30 consecutive 30 points, you know what we would say?
If they're in 15th place, James Hardin is not doing what he's supposed to do.
He's doing what he needs to do right now to keep Houston relevant and then the playoff race.
The same way Russell Westbrook is doing what he needs to do to have Oklahoma City a game out of second place and allowing Paul George to be Paul George.
See, this is what we don't talk about with Russell Westbrook.
We don't talk about the things that don't show up on the stat sheets.
The fact that when Paul George is going, that he's the first one over there, high five
in Paul George.
Russell Westbrook this year in the second half has taken three shots at one point, two shots
at one point, and it's not just for Paul George.
Because now he understands for this team to get where they need to go.
You need Dennis Schrooter.
You need Jeremy Grant.
You need Paul George.
And this year, more than any other year, I have watched Russell Westbrook lead and sacrifice
his game who was the best for this team, and that's wins.
I hope he continues to do it once the playoffs hit, because the playoffs can change players.
We know that.
Some players rise.
That's true.
Some shrink.
Some rise.
Some get less selfish.
Some more selfish.
Finally.
Magic Johnson tampering.
Now, I have a rule in life.
And it's one of those things.
Certain people have personalities.
Manny Ramirez in baseball.
Manny's being Maddie.
John Daly in golf smokes in a course.
John's just being John.
Could I not defend Magic Johnson and say,
Magic Johnson's not tampering.
He's a big personality.
He loves the game.
He's a businessman.
This is just Magic being magic.
It's like Charles Barkley saying something that gets everybody worked up.
That's just Charles being Charles.
Simon Cow can be mean.
That's just Simon Cow being Simon Cowell.
Are we overreacting to Magic Johnson's comments about other players?
No.
You're not overreacting because.
of the title that Magic Johnson holds.
If Magic Johnson didn't hold the title that he holds
with the Los Angeles Lakers, I get your beef, I get your point.
But the moment that you sign on with the Los Angeles Lakers,
and now you have that tag attached to you,
now you're held to a different standard.
Regardless as to how big your personality is,
and everybody knows Magic Johnson has a big personality.
He's a fantastic guy, big smile, excellent communicator.
But when you add that tag to your, to your,
to your title with the Los Angeles Lakers, now you have to sacrifice something else.
You can't continue to be that same guy.
The only way you can is if you say, all right, you know what?
I want to continue to communicate with players.
I want to continue to work players out.
Now you have a decision to make because you can't do that along with keeping that title.
So you either drop the title and adhere to the rules or ignore the rules and move on.
Antonio Daniels, I like when you even yell at me.
Even when you scream and yell at me.
I'm never going to yell at you.
I just can't see how you know, you don't,
you don't grasp the the Russell Westbrook dynamic.
I'm not saying he's flawless by no stress of the imagination,
but the amount that you badger him is, is uncalled for.
And you know it, Colin.
You know what?
Maybe you could use some of your leverage.
We could have dinner together with Russell and we could clear this thing up.
I would be willing to do it.
I'm going to go out on the limb here and say,
Russ would probably reject that offer.
But that's just me talking to here.
All right.
Good talking to you, bud.
Appreciate you, brother.
Antonio Daniels.
I'm always willing to edit.
Everybody's welcome on the couch.
Everybody.
No, you do not shy away from people coming on the couch.
No, no, no.
Here's what I do.
I have strong opinions.
And then I always let people come on and bash me for my opinions.
I'm not what to-
Just point out that they disagree.
Yeah, like Antonio Daniels,
is my takeaway is we got a point guard shooting 64% from the free throw line
who's telling Paul George, I can get you triple double, I can get you triple double.
Who gives a rip?
Win games.
That's not great, but they are winning games.
They aren't.
Listen, this is a good organization.
They've been good for eight years.
They win a bunch of games different.
So all the stats that he is contributing are not helping them win the games?
Marginal, tenuous.
All right, Joy Taylor, with a hopefully powerful Hurdline News.
No, no, no.
Turn on the news.
is the herd line news.
No problem.
Antonio Brown would like to see the Antonio Brown era in Pittsburgh come to an end.
He posted on social media a video with the caption.
Thank you, Steeler Nation, for a big nine years.
Time to move on and forward.
Peace sign emoji, hashtag new demand.
So he's just begging to be traded.
He hasn't been yet, but he's begging for it.
Pretty much.
This is a video, this is a screenshot that we're showing on TV,
but it's actually a video of a bunch of highlights.
set to the song, Do What I Want by Lil Uzi Burt.
Yeah.
And the lyrics are to do what I want, basically, and everybody knows I'm better.
We can't play the song on TV for...
The swearing stuff.
No, I mean, we'll pay for it.
But basically, if you go look at the video, there's a lot of subliminals in the video about saying he's going to do what he wants, literally.
And then Shepter tweeted Antonio Brown has not been traded nor has he been released, which we obviously know.
But Brown wants to trade, and he has officially requested that from the Steelers per source, or also the video.
Well, it's not affecting the team right now because they're not playing.
So the Steelers are in no hurry.
They could trade them tomorrow or they could trade them later.
But they're not playing games.
So in this moment for the next six months, the Steelers have leverage here.
The Steelers do.
He has a $22 million cap bit next year.
It's, it's, they do, but this is obviously a development.
Like up until now, the conversation was maybe they can get in a room and sort it out.
It's pretty clear from this video.
He has no intentions on staying with the Steelers.
He's going to make it as difficult as possible for them to keep in.
I'm going to ask, who's his agent?
I don't think this is great for Antonio Brown.
Forget the Steelers.
I don't think it's great for him.
I mean, there's a difference between dysfunctional and destructive.
Like, if you're, name a good team in the league that's going, oh, God, I want this.
I don't think this is great for him.
I don't know who his agent is.
I don't think this is great for Antonio Brown.
Well, he's very expensive.
And Antonio Brown's leaving a situation where he pretty much has the,
freedom to do and say and act however it is that he wants.
And he's playing with a Hall of Fame quarterback and a solid organization with a lot of talent
who, aside from the meltdown that they had this year, are in the conversation for being
contenders every single year.
So where is it that you're going to go where you're going to get all those things?
I don't really know.
I don't know that there's any competitive team that's actually in the conversation of making
it to the Super Bowl.
that supports this kind of behavior.
He is the best deep threat in the league.
And he has the best deep threat thrower in the league.
Like if you don't, like if Antonio Brown doesn't get.
You play a dependent position.
Well put.
And it's actually a great fit.
It's a good offensive line,
meaning the quarterback has time to throw.
You generally have a great deep ball thrower.
This is an organization that drafts well,
so they always tend to have two good receivers.
people can't double you on every play.
There's not a place in the league
better for this kid than Pittsburgh.
And he doesn't get it.
I mean, and I think he's become, this is,
this isn't even dysfunctional. This is destructive.
I just don't, I don't know what the story is in Pittsburgh.
It feels like there's some underlying vein
in all of these issues,
and I don't understand what it is.
Because it's not the Steelers brand.
This is not the Steelers brand.
Pete Carroll was very pro-player,
and eventually he got him out of the room,
and the team went back to a playoff team.
Pittsburgh, Tomlin's been
very pro player. You give
players a little bit and there's going to be
certain players. Inch becomes a
mile. I think you've got to move Antonio
Brown out of the locker room and get
this to be a tighter culture.
I think they've become the Seahawks a couple years ago.
Too much noise, too loud,
too loose. Well, at this point, Antonio Brown is clearly
not happy there anyway. So
there really is no, there's no
conversation that can mend this relationship on either side.
So we've been talking about
Magic Johnson and tampering all morning.
Sunday, Magic said that he had wanted to meet up with Ben Simmons to share some tips on how he can become better.
Then he said someone else contacted him.
Then yesterday, Sixers, GM, Elton Brand said on the radio that he blocked that meeting from happening.
Then the NBA said they would investigate any inappropriate contact between the Lakers and Simmons.
And with the whole thing going public and making the Lakers look bad, Brand apparently called Magic to apologize.
According to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, Elton Brand called Magic Johnson Monday to apologize for
insinuating the Lakers had called unprompted to ask permission for Johnson to speak with the Sixers forward Ben Simmons in a radio interview Monday morning.
So basically what it comes down to is this whole story may end up being nothing because Ben Simmons actually initiated it.
Ben Simmons and the Sixers initiated it.
So it's not on magic.
It said it was like, oh, we just reached out to me.
We had a conversation.
That's not exactly how it happened.
The reason Polinka made that statement and reached and returned back to the Sixers was because they initiated it first.
It's a whole mess, but basically what it comes down to is magic, as we discuss,
there's just a certain way that you have to talk about these things, as in don't talk about it publicly.
But it's going to be difficult for magic.
Magic is in a position he's never been in before in his life.
He's always been the big brother mentor of the NBA.
He's done that since the 80s when he was having pickup games and doing practices at UCLA,
a run that's still going run by Rico Hines.
He works with Westbrook and Hardin and Kobe and Shaq.
He's used to being this lovable mentor that's trying to make guys better and smiling and happy and positivity.
And now he's in a position where he can't do that.
Hey, Ben Simmons got a hold of him.
I defend Magic on this.
People want to be around Magic Johnson.
Right.
There's a reason why his nickname is Magic.
Like, he's the reason he walks in the room and everyone feels like they know him.
There's a reason people stand up at the arena when he walks by.
Like, he's Magic Johnson.
He's showtime.
That's what it is.
It's just he's in a position and a title now that's restrictive.
And that's not his personality in his brand.
So it's going to have to adjust.
He's been doing it since the 80s.
So it's a new thing.
Finally, Marcusol looked more comfortable during his home debut with the Raptors,
who pulled out a win over the Nets.
I didn't see this game.
It was last night.
I didn't see this one.
An eight-minute stretch to open the fourth quarter.
He went a perfect five-for-five from the floor, 11 points.
Oh, he did.
And had a few defensive stops.
They won 127-125, and he spoke after the game.
I definitely got more comfortable.
and obviously, you know, there's a few things I can do on the floor on both ends.
I'm an unselfish player by nature.
When I see a pass somebody open, regardless who it is, you know, I'm going to throw it to them.
And I encourage guys to keep moving and move without the ball because if they get behind, you know, their defender or a defender made a mistake, you know, we're going to make them pay for it.
They did definitely get better with Marcoso.
Yeah, no, I mean.
He's a very high-key player.
He's not bad from the three-point, which opens up the lane for Lowry and Kauai Leonard.
Listen, this is going to make them very formal.
I don't buy into them, but they're going to get a number one or a number two seed with him.
And so they're going to play two home court playoff series, and they're going to be good.
And now they have Kauai Leonard, who's better than Demargo-Rosen.
So there's no question.
I've never bought into them.
But Mark Nassau, Kauai, Leonard, you start looking at it now, and it's like, all right,
they're going to win a playoff series or two.
I feel better about the Sixers than I did before with the addition of Tobias Harris,
but I still feel like this Raptors team is a different team than last year.
I think the Eastern playoffs are going to be more interesting, potentially, than the West.
Oh, absolutely.
Yeah.
I think there's just more even.
I don't think any of them are spectacularly.
I mean, there's four teams in the East.
If Milwaukee came out and Yonis scored 42 again, you'd be like, yeah, they were just the best team.
I still contend Boston and Philly are the best.
No, it's between the Raptors, Boston, Philly, and the Bucks.
But I do feel good about the Raptors still.
Yeah.
That was very good at the first hour?
Well, let's not go crazy.
That was so...
It was like 1A.
First of all, the first hour was so good.
You were like the Ted Williams 400 year.
You bet it like 388 there.
So you still...
It goes into beyond strong.
All right.
Well, I'll try and bring it in the third hour.
I'd mail it in because don't even try.
So I do that sometimes. Last hour, who cares?
I'm just joking.
Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Herd Line News.
Okay, there's a lot of smoke with this, that the Arizona Cardinals, as a lot of
connect the dots, are now interested in Kyler Murray as the number one pick.
Joy talked about Josh Rosen to the Patriots.
Holy crow.
I don't even know what to make of this.

Buyemdrive.com.
He is, their lead content guy from Monday morning quarterback,
incredibly well connected,
and I bring him in via the Coward Global Satellite Network.
Albert Breer, senior NFL reporter.
Let's start with this.
Antonio Brown, there's dysfunctional,
and then there's destructive.
He's tweeting like crazy today that he wants out.
What do you make of his most recent tweet?
Is there a market for him?
Well, what I can tell you, Colin, is that he has requested a trade,
whether or not the Steelers are able to get proper value for him.
We'll see.
The one thing the Steelers do have going for him there, going for them here,
he's on a very, very workable contract.
There are three years and $39 million left at $13 million perp.
That's a bargain.
And so they should be able to put Antonio Brown out there, and they should be able to get suitable offers for him.
And right now, I think Antonio Brown sees some players starting to move.
Eric Reed gets paid yesterday.
Kareem Hunt, gets signed by the Cleveland Browns, maybe getting a little bit antsy here.
And so I think the Steelers now take a look at what they might be able to get in return for Antonio Brown.
Of course, there is a time table here in that by March 17th, he's due a roster bonus of $2.5 million.
And so they'd like to trade them before then.
Obviously the window to start to work something out would be right now before the NFL scouting combine.
And so I think you'll be hearing about this over the next few weeks, whether or not the Steelers actually go through with moving and we'll see.
But it certainly seems like Brown is trying to put the pressure on them to do just that.
I've heard 49ers, although Kyle Shanahan doesn't have a lot of time with nonsense.
The Jets are interesting.
They need receivers.
But Adam Gase, again, not a guy in any nonsense.
Is there a landing spot?
The culture guy.
Yeah, he's a culture guy.
Those two guys remind me of each other, Adam Gays and Shanahan, but people are saying Jets and Niners,
what are you hearing?
Well, I think that the Niners is certainly being in play and that they're looking to build
an offense the way that Kyle had it all those years ago in Houston, like the one he had in Atlanta
a couple years ago.
And that offense demands that you have some sort of explosive weapon who can take the top
off of a defense.
Julio Jones was the dominant force.
in Atlanta for Kyle Shanahan.
Obviously, Andre Johnson was that guy for him in Houston,
and Antonio Brown wouldn't fit the bill.
And in a year where the free agent class isn't very good at receiver,
where the draft class isn't great at receiver,
it might make some sense for them to do that.
The other team that I would just keep an eye on here is the Washington Redskins.
They're obviously in need of a receiver.
They drafted Josh Doxon in the first round a couple of years ago.
That didn't work out.
They lost to Sean Jackson a couple off seasons ago.
They need help at the receiver position.
they've built up their offensive line.
They've built up their defensive line.
They've got a coach in Jay Gruden,
who may be coaching for his job in 2019.
And so that'd be one team I would just keep an eye on
that could be willing to take on the wrist
that Antonio Brown brings.
Five foot eight and a half.
I believe he's that,
maybe slightly taller,
Kyler Murray.
I do think he's an NFL quarterback.
I don't think I'd build around him.
He hadn't played enough college.
He's small.
I thought he did an interview with Dan
Patrick, which was disturbing, where he kept turning to his dad to answer all the questions.
I didn't like that at all.
Wasn't on Dan.
What do you make of him as a prospect?
Well, if he was 6'4 and 225 pounds, the feedback I'm getting is that he'd be the first
overall pick.
But he's not that, and he's not close to that.
And this is really stretching the outer limits of how far you're willing to go.
I mean, look at Baker Mayfield.
He was short, not as short as Kyler, but he wasn't small.
Russell Wilson was short.
he wasn't small. This guy is short and small. And if you follow me here, there is an issue with that
as far as his ability to hold up beyond just this vision of the field and that sort of thing.
If you want to make Kyler Murray work, you're going to have to play offense a certain way.
You're going to have to move the pocket. You're going to have to get him on the run a little bit.
If you do that, you're going to get him hit. If you get him hit, is he going to be able to hold up?
That's a very serious question, especially since last year at Oklahoma, he was playing behind the best
offensive line in college football and against defenses that weren't very good. He didn't get hit a lot
last year. So not only is there that open question out there, is he going to be able to stand up to
the punishment that he's going to take in the NFL with this frame? There's also almost no evidence
of him taking hits in college. And so that question's a very, very real one and one that I think that
every NFL team is considering him needs to pay attention to. By the way, his agent, Eric Berkart,
that is Cliff Kingsbury's agent, the coach of Arizona.
I'm seeing various reports on that.
I will say this.
The Arizona Cardinals have a bad old line.
It's a little old and unathletic.
And Rosen's cannot take a beating, and you can't turn that thing around in a year.
I could make the argument that a way to solve that dilemma is get a mobile quarterback.
And, you know, Ship Rosanoff, one report said to New England,
because Belichick liked him to be a backup for a couple years,
That whole Patriot, Rosen, Murray, what do you make of it?
Well, let me just start with what you said about their current state of affairs.
If you're drafting a quarterback first overall, Colin, I don't think you get too much too wrapped up in what's going on this year, what's going on next year.
I mean, these are franchise shifting decisions.
This is a 10 to 15 year decision that you're making when you draft a quarterback that high.
So I just don't think you can be that wrapped up in where you are as currently constituted.
when you make a decision like that. That said, I do know there are some people in the Cardinals
building who aren't completely sold on Josh Rosen. And what he did in 2018 didn't do a whole lot
to move them off those positions. And so I don't think that there's 100% agreement within the
Cardinals organization that this is a guy for the next 10 or 15 years for him. Additionally,
additionally, Cliff Kingsbury has always been a guy who's been able to work with different
quarterbacks. For all of his flaws at Texas Tech, look at the different guys he's worked with.
He worked with Johnny Mansell at Texas A&M. He goes to Texas Tech. He had Davis Webb, who's a bigger
quarterback who can't move real well. He had Baker Mayfield. He had Pat Mahomes. He's been able to work
with different types of quarterbacks. He's been effective with different types of quarterbacks.
So when people say, well, is this guy or that guy, a Cliff Kingsbury type of quarterback?
I think Cliff Kingsbury is actually pretty adjustable in what he wants. And so I think a lot of this boils down
to what Cliff Kingsbury individually, what his assessment of Josh Rosen is.
If you likes Josh Rosen, you know what you do?
You sit there with the number one overall pick.
You see if you're Kyler Murray or Dwayne Haskins, your Drew Locke.
You see if those guys rise at the point where there's going to be real value for the number one overall pick.
And if they don't, then you wind up taking a Nick Bosa or Quentin Williams.
Either way, you're in a really good position because you have multiple options at the quarterback
position.
And if you like the quarterback who's sitting there for you right now, then you turn around and you use the number one pick as a commodity.
By the way, a couple minutes left. Brian Hoyer, the story is out now, basically is the backup to Tom Brady, played Jared Gough for two weeks in the Super Bowl, and by watching ESPN Plus, Amazon Prime, all or nothing, hard knocks, was able to get the language down and that the Rams put themselves out there, and that became a huge factor in their defensive game plan. It's kind of remarkable. What did you make of it? A minute and a half left.
Yeah, I basically, like I talked to Devin McCordy and Jason McCordy about this, and they were over the moon talking about what a big impact Brian Hoyer had on their ability to win the Super Bowl.
And so they took me through it.
I talked to Hoyer about it on Sunday.
Yeah, he had background in this offense.
He played for Kyle Shanahan in Cleveland.
He played for Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco.
He wanted to see, hey, how close is this offense to what I was doing?
He went and he watched the Peyton Manning series detail on ESPN Plus.
that looks a lot like the offense I was running.
And so then he goes back and he looks at Rams tape.
Yep, that's the same stuff I was doing.
He went and looked at an NFL network interview.
They were talking about the coach to quarterback communication thing
that we've all talked about between McVeigh and golf.
Another check mark there.
That's what Shanahan did with Brian Hoyer both last year and four years ago.
And then the final piece of it, of course, you go to the Amazon series.
That was on Jeff Fisher's Rams, but at the very end, there was footage of OTAs with Sean McVeigh.
and he recognized the language.
And so he was able to ascertain.
There's a lot of similarity between what they're doing in Los Angeles
and what I did in San Francisco and Cleveland,
and he gave them a little tip.
He said to the defensive players, hey, look,
if we send an all-out pressure at the quarterback,
they don't have answers for that.
The answer is the quarterback is going to take a shot.
They're relying on the quarterback to make a play.
So read the quarterback's eyes and back off a little bit.
And if you look at the play,
Stefan Gilmore made the interception on,
He is the furthest player back of all 11 defenders.
Everybody else is up towards the line.
They snap the ball.
Gilmore's eyes aren't on Brandon Cooks.
His eyes are on Jared Gough.
He's watching Jared Gough the whole time, and he fielded that ball like it was a punt.
I thought it was a really interesting way of explaining how the Patriots get the most out of every roster spot.
And remember, Brian Hoyer landing there, Colin, was a result of the Jimmy Garoppola trade.
So maybe in a certain way, the Patriots got a little more out of that Garoppola trade.
then's right there on the surface for you.
Great stuff. Got to run.
Albert Breer, Monday morning quarterback.
Thanks for telling the story.
And thank you, bud.
Thanks, Colin.

Antonio Brown wants out.
You can also catch us on Sirius XM Channel 83.
Antonio Brown wants out of Pittsburgh.
Now he's gone to Twitter.
You know, it's funny, OBJ, no takers.
Des Bryant, no takers.
Antonio Brown, not a lot of takers.
It's not the NBA. It's not a player-run league.
The NFL's not. It's about coaches, GMs, the shield, the system.
The NFL is not the NBA.
There are things about the NBA the NFL's borrowed from,
but the NFL wants to be a system, a coach, a GM, and a quarterback league.
It doesn't want to be a divo-wide receiver league.
And O'Dell Beckham Jr. was on the market, no takers.
Antonio Brown in the market doesn't appear to be a lot of takers.
He's having to make demands now because his agent's not getting anything.
and, you know, Des Bryant, I mean, he was free.
No takers.
Like the NBA is the Deva League.
NBA is the Star Driven League.
NBA is about the player.
That's a good business.
NFL's like, we like some of that stuff,
but we're about the coach, the GM, the quarterback, the shield, the system, the rules.
And you're seeing it here with what's going on.
Now, coming up in 15 minutes, T.
T.J. Husbandzata is going to talk about that because he played with Ocho Cinco,
Chad Johnson, before that, who had all sorts of
stuff. Later and best for last, Lions don't want to be on hard knocks. I'll tell you the five teams,
I would absolutely love to see on hard knocks because I still think it's a great show. Well,
I want to start with this. Paul George had another amazing MVP performance last night. Oklahoma
said he beat the Blazers last night. But today, everybody is excited about the triple double.
Russell Westbrook's getting all the headlines this morning. Every article I read, Russell Westbrook
makes history 10th consecutive triple double.
Oh my God, it's history.
Every newspaper, every blog.
Oh, my God.
Can you believe it?
Westbrook is making history.
The triple double in the NBA has become hitting for the cycle in baseball.
You do realize that Babe Ruth never hit for the cycle.
22 years.
Babe Ruth, probably the greatest baseball play, never hit for the cycle.
Aaron Hill, a journeyman infielder, hit for the cycle twice in three weeks.
triple double is hitting for the cycle.
Cool. Headlines. Wow.
I'd rather a baseball player go four for four with four jacks out of the stadium.
Because in baseball, the only thing that really matters, runs scored.
Who leads the league in runs scored? Cross the plate. That wins games.
The best player for Oklahoma City last night was Paul George again.
I don't know if you've noticed. He's arguably after James Harden, the MVP.
He's averaging 40 points a game in February.
His plus minus last night was plus 14.
He scored 47 last night.
He's the reason they won.
Not a headline.
Russell Westbrook's plus minus was plus one.
By the way, he's fourth, fourth on his own team in plus minus.
He was one for six last night in threes.
He was five for 19 from the floor.
And that's the headline.
congratulations NBA media for not getting it, for falling for a gimmicky staff.
And I don't care about fake rebounds.
Alan Iverson, one career triple double.
Because Alan Iverson actually played defense and gave effort on both ends of the floor.
And Alan Iverson wasn't hanging around the rim getting fake rebounds.
Did you hear it?
There's an amazing piece of audio after the game.
Paul George, listen to how totally obsessed with this triple double stat.
By the way, Westbrook can no longer shoot, 65% from the line, 24% from threes, and he knows it.
So he loves this stat because it overshadows the bigger problem.
He's a guard who can't shoot.
You can't be short and not be able to shoot in the NBA.
You can be tall and not be able to shoot, but if you're short, you've got to.
got to be able to shoot. All right? Sorry, you got to be able to shoot. Listen to Paul George
after the, by the way, he was a plus 14 after the game. We talked about it right before that
play. We talked about it. I was clueless at that moment. But, you know, he told me the situation.
So it was cool to be on the other end of the triple double.
Paul George was actually worried about, you know, winning.
Westbrook came up to him, hey man, one more of these and you'll have a triple double.
Does Westbrook have one of those fit bits where it tells him, okay, you're almost got a triple double.
Even his assists sometimes are fluff.
He doesn't move the basketball.
You know, if a guy's wide open and he gets doubled, he'll pass to him.
But I feel like sometimes even his assists have a fluff feel to him.
You want to know who led the NFL last year in passing yards?
The team?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers led the NFL in passing yards.
But the NFL media doesn't freak out.
over it. Because it doesn't, what does it mean?
Twelve quarterbacks threw over 4,000 yards last year.
Half didn't even make the playoffs.
The triple double, it grabbed all the headlines last night.
Paul George, to me, is the most valuable player right now in the league, not James Hardin.
James Hardin's the best score, but he didn't play defense like Paul George.
Paul George is loose, is feeling great.
He's the MVP of the league.
He had 47.
He had a plus 14 plus minus.
And unlike Kauai Leonard, he's out there every night.
Paul George's a best two-way player in the NBA.
Not LeBron right now.
Last 60 days, Paul George's best player in the league.
If defense matters and call me nutty, I think it does.
All right.
I'm going to introduce something new today.
Let me shift gears.
The NBA is investigating Magic Johnson and the Lakers
if they have potentially violated tampering rules
by, you know, talking about Magic Johnson, talking about Ben Simmons.
Magic Johnson talks about
about players, jokes about stuff, that's just Magic Johnson.
It's not tampering.
It's who he is.
He's fun.
He jokes.
Remember when he went on television, Fox?
Remember this.
Can you imagine Danny Aange of the Celtics doing this?
Nobody's watching.
Nobody needs to know.
What are going to take to bring LeBron to the Lakers?
I'll pay the fire.
We're trying to build a chance.
championship team with the Lakers, and hopefully next summer will be in line to sign free agents.
It's just Magic Johnson.
John Daly, this engulfed.
Is that guy smoking?
You got to kick that guy off the course.
That's just John Daly.
Many, Mani Ramirez.
Remember Mani Ramirez, one of the great all-time players for the Red Sox?
Mani Ramirez once cut off a throw, he was a left fielder.
He once cut off a throw.
from a center fielder. Johnny Damon made a play at the wall, balls loose. Johnny Damon's
throwing it back to the infield, the cutoff man. Mani Ramirez cuts off the cutoff man. Well,
it's just Mani Ramirez. They even had a term for it. It's just Mani being Mani.
You watch Gordon Ramsey on those cooking shows? You're like, what a jerk. Oh, not really.
It's just Gordon Ramsey being Gordon Ramsey. It's called, I'll introduce it to you in life,
and it matters, and we use it all the time.
the that's just rule.
Magic Johnson's not tampering.
That's just Magic Johnson.
It's how he talks.
It's how he's always talked.
He's funny.
People like him.
I've been in rooms with Magic Johnson.
He's always smiling.
Even this past week when he was angry at the Pelicans,
he was kind of smiling, as he said,
you know, there's a lot of stuff out there.
We didn't, of course, give it any of the stuff.
I went to a Laker game a year ago,
and I look over to the right.
And the crowd rises.
And I thought there was a fight.
You ever gone to a stadium and everybody's getting up and you're like, oh, there's a fight.
And I looked over in the crowd and I couldn't see a fight.
And I looked on the floor and I didn't see a fight.
And the crowd, section by section, by section, by section, was standing.
And finally I saw it.
Magic Johnson, who's been in that building 10,000 times,
had simply emerged from the tunnel.
And people stood section by section to get a glimpse of a guy they'd seen play, stand, talk in Los Angeles for 30 years.
He's not tampering.
He's a superstar.
That's just magic.
Well, the way the NBA does agree,
Joy Taylor can have more of that coming up in about 10 minutes,
rendering a verdict on what to do with Ben Simmons and the Sixers,
who were furious at Magic and the Lakers.
That's coming down right now.
Plus, T.J. Hushmanzada around the corner,
played in Antonio Brown's division.
Antonio Brown is tweeting today, I'm out of here in Pittsburgh.
Folks, it's a passing league.
He's the most gifted deep threat receiver in the NFL.
It's incredible.
somebody's got to get him, right?
He's a superstar.
They're not five guys in the NFL more talented than Antonio Brown.
He's got to be worth something.
Somebody's going to roll the dice on him.
That's coming up.
Maybe the Rams.
After that Super Bowl, maybe they need more offense.

TJ Hushman's auto over a decade in the NFL a pro bowler tied for the NFL reception lead in 27.
I remember that 2007.
112 catches.
Should have had 113.
I know.
I was really disappointed in you.
Okay, so let's start with Antonio Brown.
I think he's making a mistake.
I think he's crazy.
I think he's in a perfect spot
respond
I wouldn't say he's crazy
but I kind of equate this
to a marriage
you got to make it work
your wife being the Steelers
she knows your flaws
she knows what you do well
she knows what she doesn't like about you
and you go somewhere else
and I speak for experience when I left the Bengals
and went to Seattle it's
it's a courting stage all over again
you got to get to know each other
and if you look at the Steelers and Ben Ruffisberger,
he's the only quarterback that gets touchdowns
and big yards on off-scripted plays.
And there's not another quarterback in the league that does that.
And Antonio Brown has been used to this.
Find a way to make it work.
And it's not on Antonio Brown to make it work.
Because if Ben Ruffisberger and Mike Tomlin,
it's those two, this should have never gotten this far at all.
Ben Ruffisberger, don't criticize them in public.
Who are you?
You guys on the same level.
You don't need to criticize him.
Pull them to the side if you feel a certain way.
Tomlin, once that criticism happened,
you should have stopped it immediately and set those two guys down.
To me, those two guys have to make it right,
but it looks like Antonio Brown is at the point of no return.
I don't think he works in places like New England.
I don't see it happen.
When you've been in one spot for nine years
and you've played a certain way, that's the biggest key.
He's played a certain way.
He's an ad-libber a lot in Pittsburgh.
He'll run a curl route.
If he doesn't get the ball,
he takes off down the field.
That's the rapport that him and Ben
is built up. That's not going to work with
any other team. Ball's coming out on time.
We're not going to have all these off-scripted plays,
and he's not used to that because
he's been in one spot for nine years.
I know, I think fans sometimes forget that
Fit matters. I mean, Randy Moss was always
talented, and Brady
made it work with him, but Fit
is a humongous
in the NBA, Kevin Durant's
going to score everywhere he is. Now, he may not
win titles in OKC.
He may win titles in different places.
Nobody's going to stop Kevin Durant.
But if you give Julio Jones, Blake Bortles, his numbers are going to decline.
And so can I look at Antonio Brown and I'm like, humongous talent?
Here's the thing.
If you ran a football team, though, is he destructive?
There's dysfunctional.
I can deal with dysfunction.
I'm dysfunctional.
I can't deal with destructive.
Is he destructive?
I don't believe he's destructive.
And I just stated, when, like, Ben Rafflesberger has gotten a pass in this.
He's gotten a pass.
you don't criticize your teammates publicly.
You don't, oh, I've earned the right.
Why?
Who are you?
Who are you?
When you throw a pick, do we criticize you?
When you take unnecessary sex, do we criticize you or, oh, the offensive?
No, if you have a problem, you pull him to the side.
He's not destructive.
He's like any other player.
Everybody has a little dysfunctional to him.
Everybody has a little selfishness to him.
He wants to win.
He might go about things a certain way, but it starts at the time.
Tomlin and Ben handled this the right way.
And I believe they could possibly bring this relationship back together,
but they have to handle it the right way.
And for it to have come to this right now,
it shows me they haven't reached out and tried to solve anything
and tried to mend fences.
All right.
Kyler Marie is small.
He's only played 17 college games.
His dad was a college quarterback.
So there's some, as people are saying,
there's a little tiny LeVar ball situation going on where dad's a very outspoken guy.
He was a college quarterback, his dad, and he likes his son, and blah, blah, blah.
My takeaway is on this.
The NFL's got a history.
And even in life, everything's changing in life, parenting is still always the same.
Come home, do your homework, get a snack, come to dinner, love your kids, bed early.
You can say what you want about parenting.
Social media doesn't change the principles of parenting.
Work hard.
Be good to your brothers and sisters.
Be respectful.
And do your homework when you get home.
Same in football.
I know there's a bunch of Mitch Trubisky can run around.
Lamar can run around.
Guy at Ohio State, Dwayne Haskins, six four and a half, throw strikes.
That's all I care about.
I look at Kyler Murray.
I think he's an NFL player.
But T.J.
It's tiny.
He's small.
Small.
He's shoulders.
I never like Johnny Manzell.
I said Johnny's too small.
His shoulders aren't big.
Russell's short, but he's thick.
I think Kyler can play in this league, but aren't you concerned about his size?
I'm concerned.
The reason I'm concerned is it's unprecedented.
We haven't seen this before.
And I said this earlier.
Russell Wilson is short, but he's thick.
His shoulders are broad.
He's thick in his midsection, his lower body.
Same with Baker Mayfield.
He's a thick guy.
Carla Murray is slight.
He has a small frame.
He's not as dense.
We've never seen this before.
But this is what I will say.
Baker Mayfield played in that offense at Oklahoma three years.
Yeah.
Kyler Murray played one year, and that one year was better than any three years that Baker Mayfield had.
That's something.
That has to mean something.
It does.
It does.
It does.
He knew that offense inside and out, and Kyler Murray's one year as a starter was better than any year Baker Mayfield had.
That has to mean he played like trash in the first half against Alabama, and then they could not stop him in the second half.
In Alabama, that defense is loaded with NFL talent.
You have to go to the right fit.
if Cliff Kingsbury believes in Josh Rosen, you don't take them.
But if you have any doubt, if you're Cliff Kingsbury and you say you can take any quarterback in NFL right now,
he would probably take Patrick Mahomes.
After that, he'd probably take Kyler Murray.
He'd probably take Kyler Murray.
You stand a shotgun, you spread the field out, you get under center very little,
and you see if it can work.
But it all depends on what do they think of Josh Rosen.
you traded up for him last year and drafting them with the 10th pick.
Interesting.
Finally, so Brian Hoyer is a patriot.
Brian Hoyer, according to Albert Breyer, Money Morning Quarterback,
Brian Hoyer watched ESPN Plus on the Rams.
He watched the Amazon Prime series and got Ram stuff.
He watched HBO Hard Knocks with Ram Stuff.
And after all these series, he determined,
this is the offense I ran.
He goes to Belichick and says, yeah, here's what you do.
and Brian Hoyer essentially helped create a defensive game plan to beat Goff.
What do you take from all that?
I wouldn't take it that he helped created a defensive game plan.
I read that story.
I know he said that system doesn't have an answer for cover zero.
Yeah.
I was watching the game.
Cover zero is blitzing.
Yes, cover zero, no safety's in the middle.
Everybody's manned up.
And I was watching the game.
And before the snap, I'm like, this is cover zero.
So now that McVeigh and even Kyle Shanahan know this,
I guarantee they'll have an answer for cover zero.
now, but you still got to go play. The players still have to execute. There's so much information
out there with all these cameras and different mics everywhere. It sounds good because you
won the game and the defense did a great job. But there's this information on every team out
there, some more than others. But I think he's patting himself on the back a little too much. He
wants a little more credit than he deserves. You can give me all the information. I still
got to go take the test. Did you ever play an NFL game?
where you felt the team you are facing had your number,
like really knew what you were doing?
Yes.
I really, we, I never, I talked about this before when we played New England.
We killed them in the preseason game three.
We absolutely slaughtered them.
And Belichick brought his starters back out and they played the whole second half.
And we're on the bench chilling because we killed them.
We played them in a regular season.
And they returned to favor and killed.
killed us. They beat us down. And everybody thought we ran a lot of check with me. So we would have a
run, playing, a pass play called in the huddle, and we would get to it a different way. We didn't say
one, one, one for the run or two, two, two for the pass or vice versa. Every time we called
to play, whether it was run or pass, Brucey was calling it out. This pass, this pass. This is run. This is run.
And so the theory was he put them back in in the second half because he put mics on his linemen
and they were still in our calls during the preseason.
That's what we thought.
Because it was like every time Carson changed the play,
Bruske, you literally yelled out, run or pass,
and he was right like 90% of the time.
What a shock. The Patriots had your number.
The Patriots. Go figure, right?
So, I mean, that's just, that's coaching, man.
Give credit where credit is due.
It's coaching, and they got Tom Brady under center.
That's good stuff. Good to see you.
Thank you, man.
T.J. Hushman's out. Joy, Taylor, with the news.
No, no, no.
Turn on the news.
is the herd line news.
All right. Well, we talked a lot today about magic and it's hampering and Ben Simmons and he wants
some advice and Ellen Brands. Well, the NBA has solved it. They've gotten to the bottom of this
whole saga. So, according to the NBA, the Sixers initiated contact with the Lakers by requesting
a meeting between Magic Johnson and Ben Simmons. Both organizations ultimately concluded that
such a meeting did not make sense. Johnson's response to a media inquiry regarding Simmons does
not run afoul of league rules.
So basically, that's done
and it's not tampering.
Officially not tampering.
Well, I agree with that. I don't think it's tampering.
No, the whole thing kind of went a little crazy.
Well, it sounded weird, obviously, when Magic
was like, yeah, Ben Simmons contacted me.
Actually, no, someone else contacted me,
and I said, the league's got to approve it.
It just was like, what are you doing?
And then Elton Brand came out
and said that he blocked that meeting from happening,
so it looked a little sketchy, but then
Elton Brand said he apologized.
Basically, it's done, at least for this chapter in the Magic Johnson possibly tampering book.
So the Celtics are currently 5th and the east.
They're going through a rough stretch of days, both on and off the court.
They lost the Lakers on the Rondo buzzer beaters, and they blew the 28-point lead to the Sixers and boot off their own court.
And now Ryan Windhorst is reporting that Jason Tatum wouldn't mind getting traded to the Pelicans this summer as part of a deal for Anthony Davis.
Jason Tatum does want to be the man.
That's what TJ just said.
By the way, how do you know you're not going to be the man in Boston?
If Jason Tatum becomes 24 a game, is he not the man?
He's averaging 18.3.3 points right now.
And he's a baby. This is his second year.
What if next year he averages 24?
Why would I go to a...
He'll get more shots, though, in the more.
He didn't get enough shots.
Oh, God, more shots.
I'm just saying.
Shots!
Would you rather catch six balls with the Patriots or 11 with the Jags?
Oh, six with the Patriots.
Okay.
More with it.
because you're winning.
But that's after playing so many years and you realize that too.
Correct.
When you're young, you don't realize that.
That is the point here.
That's a great point, TJ.
Yes, that is the point here.
They have a lot of young players.
Everybody is trying to get their points and get their stats for contracts.
They're all trying to get their long-term contracts.
The rebuild sounds nice, but this is what you're dealing with.
They have a lot of chemistry issues.
And Jason Tatum has the potential to be a James Harden-type player after he left OKC.
So Winhorst said on ESPN radio,
the gossipist,
they wouldn't mind if he shipped to New Orleans
and has a chance to be the face of a franchise somewhere.
He's not going to get that opportunity in Boston,
at least in the immediate future.
Have confidence in yourself.
Grow into a 25-point-a-game guy,
and you'll be the guy.
I don't think Kyrie Irving from the sounds of it
is going to be there long-term,
so you're going to be the guy.
Why is everybody so...
Do you know, I have stayed seven years minimum
at every job I've ever had?
Now, over time, after a decade, I've left places.
But at some point...
But you can also do your job for like 50 years.
NBA guys can do theirs if they stay in shape for 17.
That's a long time.
Seven out of a 17-year career is a long time.
He's been in Boston two years.
He already is like, I wouldn't mind going.
Really?
How many franchises are better in this league than Boston?
Three?
To me, this is more of a reflection of what's happening in Boston right now.
I think it's a
than Jason Tatum.
I think it's a reflection of...
And his name has been in the trade talks.
It's, you know, it's crazy town, Joy.
Literally, Kevin Durant's in the perfect spot.
I'm restless.
Jason Tatum's in the perfect spot.
The basketball culture now is becoming like,
get yours, get yours, get yours.
But what happens when yours is there?
It's like the guy who's always looking over
at the cute neighbor.
What happens if your wife's amazing?
Who started that?
Jason Tatum.
Jason Tatum started this?
No, no, no, I'm not saying started it.
LeBron is the player empowerment guy,
but LeBron literally changes franchises.
Like when he arrives, the whole world changes.
Jason Tatum's a nice player.
These are professional athletes.
You have to go out there with the mentality.
You're good as LeBron or you're always going to lose the LeBron.
You guys, it's just incredible.
I don't even get it.
This would be like going from the Patriots to the Jags.
What are you doing?
If you're going to make it's...
Can't all be money.
It can't all be money.
They're rich...
Some people are motivated purely by money.
I'm not saying that's what Jason Tatum.
I think he wants to be the face of a franchise, and he has the potential to do that.
And he doesn't feel like he can do that in Boston.
Again, this is just a report.
He hasn't come out an accurate trade or anything.
So it's just the conversation.
Finally, you love this.
So after news came out this morning,
Kyler Murray was hiring the same agent as Cliff Kingsbury.
Jason McIntyre, he put out an article that we came across,
that detailed a potential landing spot for Josh Rosen.
There's been a lot of talk about the Cardinals moving off of Josh Rosen.
Should the Cardinals decide to trade him,
New England as a possible landing spot for him.
There were rumors that Belichick liked Rosen before last year's draft.
And he could go.
Brady said he wants to play for until he's 45.
So potentially he could go to New England, sit for three years.
We're imagining eventually Tom Brady's going to show some signs of aging.
This isn't unheard of.
I think I got to be honest with you.
This rumor stuff's a lot of nonsense.
This makes a ton of sense.
He's highly cerebral.
Bill has built a program around accurate.
and pre-snap efficiency.
That's Rosen's strength.
Those are literally the two things.
He's a real accurate thrower.
He's very much like Brady.
There's a lot of Brady in him.
I have no idea why you would move off of Josh Rosen for Kyler Murray
unless you're just trying to make crazy splashes.
I know Cliff Kingsbury said that he liked him a lot,
but that was before he was the head coach,
and this was actually his decision to make,
so I'm not going to hold him to that.
I wouldn't move off Josh Rosen if on the Cardinals.
Yeah, I'm not saying I would do that either.
And I don't know that his personality necessarily fits with the Patriots.
Josh Rosen is an outspoken kid.
He's not, he doesn't give me that Patriots way vibe.
That get in line, do as I say.
It's all one voice.
Yeah, he tends to be a little political.
Yeah, and he's not moving off of that.
Yeah.
That's the, does his...
I don't think his personality fits with the Patriots.
It's interesting, though.
It's a fun conversation.
It really is.
This free agency is going to be fun.
I got Antonio Brown.
I got Lavian Bell.
I could have,
Hey, listen, if you're Josh Rosen.
Nick Foles, Joe Flacko.
Hey, if you're Josh Rosen this morning, Joy.
And somebody said to you,
you just got traded New England.
Would you pack those bags gladly?
By the way, I know Josh Rosen's family.
I'll throw this at you.
This is a little inside information.
I'm not going to give the address,
but they have a nice place out there in Massachusetts.
Oh, really?
Rhode Island.
A little vacation home out there.
The family historically has
There's all sorts.
Josh Rosen's family is connected in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
I don't think this would be the world's worst thing.
I've got to tell you something.
Rosen, if you told Josh Rosen, you can play in two places.
His number one would be with the Rams.
They got a quarterback.
And his number two, I bet you would be New England.
The family is connected out east.
But he's not going to play in New England.
Well, for a year or two.
So you went from being the guy and having a franchise to sitting behind Tom Brady for three years.
I think when you're 23, that's just, that's okay.
If you're 38, I want to start.
But 23, this is fascinating.
It is interesting.
I'm going to start a new Josh Rosen podcast after the show.
Joy Taylor with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Heard Lie News.
Cliff Kingsbury, remember this, back in October, admitted how much, this is when he was coaching
college football, how much he liked.
Kyler Murray, here it was.
I've never seen him have a poor outing, not one, which a quarterback's, it's impossible to do, but he's done it.
And I don't know, I'd take him with the first pick of the draft if I could.
I know he's signed up to play baseball, but he is a dominant football player, and I would take him with the first pick.
Just saying, it's interesting.
The owner of the Arizona Cardinals has said, yeah, blah, blah, blah, you hear a lot of stuff, but that doesn't mean it'll, that doesn't mean it'll happen.
Here's the draft order in the NFL.
Arizona's won.
I don't think they're going to move off Rosen.
Niners have Jimmy Garoppolo.
They're not taking Kyler Murray.
Jets have Darnold.
They're not taking him.
Raiders have Derek Carr.
I would not trade Derek Carr.
Tampa Bay's got James Winston.
I think I would consider Kyler Murray.
Just to consider him.
Giants have number six.
I'd take Dwayne Haskins.
That's what I would do.
Jaguar 7th, Kyler Murray.
I get it.
I totally get it.
Bill's have their guy, lions have their guy
Broncos don't, but I don't think they
I don't think Elway would go with
Kyler Murray. Maybe you would.
Maybe you would.
Well, there's always some crazy trades that go on too.
Listen, you and I are in the gossip business.
I mean, to some degree, I do some Big J. journalism, so do you.
But this is okay for us to talk about this stuff.
This stuff happens all the time.
I mean, it's just a hypothetical.
It's interesting.
And look, I think that the value of quarterbacks
is obviously, well, we both agree.
no one can really argue with the value of quarterback.
So drafting a quarterback high is not a mistake to me
because if you need one, you got to take the risk.
And when you look at how many undrafted players actually make rosters these days,
your scouting is really just the most important thing you've got going on right now.
So I think Kyler Murray is going to end up going high.
I don't think that his size is as impactful as it used to be
because quarterbacks are protected so much more these days.
Very, very interesting.
Coming up next,
Detroit Lions, somebody's going to be on hard knocks, and the NFL HBO are now determining
who's going to be on hard knocks.
And the Detroit Lion said, no, make it be the Raiders.
We don't want to.
I will tell you, there's five teams in the NFL I would absolutely love to see on hard knocks
for different reasons.
That's coming up and best for last.
One more herd?
The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week within the IHeart radio app.
Search herd to listen live or on demand whenever you'd like.
Car shopping's confused.
using a lot of terms, dealer price, list price, invoice.
Here's what's not confusing.
Three grand on average off MSRP.
So Lions head coach Matt Patricia, the Detroit Lions are one of five NFL teams that are
currently viable for Hard Knocks.
Hard Knocks has some rules on HBO.
Hard Knocks is the show where they mic a team for camp, and it's wildly entertaining.
And if you have a first-year head coach, you can't be on it.
If you have a playoff appearance in the past two years, you can't be on it.
And if you've been on it in the last 10 years, you can't be on it.
So there's only five teams available this year that qualify.
Washington 49ers, Giants, Lions, and the Raiders.
That's it.
And Matt Patricia, the Lions coach, said this yesterday.
He don't want him to be on the show.
I think John Gruden is an excellent choice for that show.
I think the Oakland Raiders and everything that got going.
on right now would be a fantastic viewing for everybody to watch.
Yeah, I don't think he wants to be on it.
I wouldn't want to be on it, especially that Super Bowl story that came out today,
Monday morning quarterback, where Albert Breer discovered that the Patriots had seen so much
of the Rams on TV shows, they were able to pick up their audibles and it helped carve
and create their defensive game plan.
But I thought to myself, and best for last, we can do a little NFL music.
What would be the five, if you could choose, there were no rules.
there were no rules, five teams to be on hard knocks.
I think number five would be the Pittsburgh Steelers.
They're coming off a year when maybe the most talented offense did not make the playoffs.
Big Ben never shies away from speaking his mind.
They're potentially going to have Antonio Brown, if nobody picks him up.
There's the Labian Belmas.
That's not been resolved.
And I would say this.
They're very player-friendly.
They're very outspoken.
I've never really seen inside those doors.
I think it would be fascinating to watch the Rooney's, Tomlin, Big Ben.
I would have the Steelers at number five.
They've been called the Kardashians by several people now.
That's the number one reality show.
How about Carolina?
Cam comes off a disastrous season.
You're getting to a point now.
It does appear that the head coach Ron Rivera and Cam Newton don't see
eye to eye. They brought in a new coordinator. It didn't work. He's coming off injury.
And by the way, Cam's fascinating. You put him on camera. The ratings go up. Good looking,
fashionista, hipster, and sometimes immature. I think they'd be fascinating. They also, Eric
Reid just signed. He's Kaepernick's ally. Maybe that's something. I think number three would be
the Green Bay Packers. I'm sorry, but Aaron Rogers and Matt LaFleur is fascinating to me. I have no idea how
it's going to work out. You're going to have this all-time great talent, Aaron Rogers. And then this 35-year-old
kid is the head coach. Maybe get a cameo from Danica Patrick, but I think what I'm really interested
in watching is Aaron Rogers' legacy now. If he doesn't turn it around here in the next two years with
Matt LaFleur, he's a 37-year-old guy working on his third coach. And Peyton Manning's, Elway's,
Brady's like are in a totally different class.
This is go time for Aaron Rogers and his legacy.
It's go time with Matt LaFleur, who's, by the way, been a coordinator one year of his life.
Number two, I know you're going to think it's boring.
I think New England.
I know you think it's boring.
But watching them have to be filmed against everything that's in their DNA is interesting to me.
And by the way, you put.
Tom Brady on camera, it would be interesting.
Edelman on camera.
Well, Belichick just being forced to go behind the scenes would just be fascinating.
Remember when you watch Tom versus Time?
It's Tom versus Time on steroids.
We have 30 cameras.
And so, and I also think when people don't want to do something and they're forced to do something, it's interesting.
And then I think number one, and I'm not sure it's close, the Raiders.
First of all, I contend.
I think, Joy, you've heard me say this.
I still think John Gruden sees himself as a little bit of a TV star and a football coach.
Like, if you do something for 10 years and you're really good at it,
you can leave the business, but it's still part of you.
John Gruden was a TV star for 10 years.
In fact, I'd say he's a bigger TV star than a football coach for 10 years.
Then he becomes the Raiders coach.
I still think he's got 10, 20 percent football TV star in him.
You're coming off a four-win season.
It's the biggest draft in the NFL for a single team in like forever.
They got rid of Khalil Mack, Amari Cooper.
This draft is the franchise.
Like this is the franchise.
They don't have a home stadium next year.
I think the Raiders have a little bit of Derek Carr, John Gruden, a little drama there.
So I think my top five, Steelers, Panthers, Packers, Patriots, and the Raiders.
I don't think for all those reasons, as you mentioned, the NFL is going to pick the Raiders to do it.
they need the Raiders to work.
They're moving them to another city.
How would you, if I'm, the NFL makes this choice, right?
So give me the choices again.
What are the teams that I can choose?
Man, there's a lot of boring.
Okay, so Washington's going to be awful.
I'm not interested.
Alex Smith's starting quarterback guy.
I'm not interested.
Detroit.
I'm just not interested.
Giants, Eli Manning, a wonderful guy.
Not interesting.
No, I think that the 49ers and the Raiders are the most interesting.
I think the NFL needs the Raiders to work in this particular season,
that they don't even know where they're going to play,
all the dysfunction that they had last year,
and the fact that they need the Raiders to work
because they're moving them to another city
in a brand new stadium.
In a city that really doesn't have any football routes in Las Vegas,
I think that the 49ers make the most sense.
Odell Beckham does, can you imagine being HBO?
You'd put Odell Beckham in every...
I mean, Beckham and Seekwon Barkley are good-looking fun,
highly energetic guy.
So you just put Barton, I think,
think the Giants, if you think about it, I'd get, 60% of my show would be O'Dell, 30% would be
Barkley, and then it would be.
Well, if the Giants draft a quarterback.
That's, and there it's interesting.
If the Giants draft a quarterback, that's the team you pick.
I've talked myself in a lot.
I think, I think, my vote is still the 49ers, Jimmy Garoppolo coming back.
But Kyle Shanahan's soul.
There's some talk about Antonio Brown going there, if there's a trade that's made.
The 49ers are the most interesting.
they make the most sense out of that group, I guess, at least.
You know who my staff just whispered in my ear, and I love when they do that.
Bill Pollian's on the show tomorrow?
My friend Bill Pollian.
Let me just throw this.
Can I throw a conspiracy theory at you?
Sure.
These two football leagues, the AAF and then next year the XFL, they're spring football leagues.
I will say this again.
One or both will work.
I'm not so sure they won't merge in five years,
but I'm just going to throw this at you.
The NFL,
the NFL has a history
of doing whatever they can
to make life difficult for the NBA and baseball.
The NFL is going to help one of these legs make it,
so guys like me and the media
for two months talk football instead of basketball.
Just my theory.
I don't think that's that much of a conspiracy.
No, thank you.
By the way, good day for Joy today, wasn't it?
Joy had, I think your best day ever.
Nothing sure was not sensational.
I'll take the compliment.
