Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the Look Back at it podcast. For 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 was big to me. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English.
Starting point is 00:01:12 Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. 84 was a wild year. It was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:35 A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show. Starting point is 00:04:40 That's going on here. Welcome back to the Richard Sherman podcast. We got an incredible guest today, the incredible Cam Jordan, my classmate of the 2011 class. Obviously, I've been retired for three years and he's still playing. So that tells you just how great he is, a member of the Hunter Sack Club and trying to get to the 150 sack club. But you know what I mean? That's different.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Yeah, that's a different air. And the way we got Chase Young and Carl Grannis coming off the edge. And now when it comes down to third down, I'm inside. I said, let's get to 125. And we'll talk about everything else. Everything else. We'll talk about it all. Man, you've got to be feeling good.
Starting point is 00:05:20 Y'all started the season on fire. That boy, Rashid, is out there giving everybody. You get a post. You get a post. Oh, you need some of heat. You get it too. Say, sheesh. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:05:32 The need for speed is real now. Hey, oh, safety up top corner underneath. Don't matter. I'll run them both. Okay, I got them both. Look, when I went to Tampa for a little while, we were studying, I said, yeah, so if I see him lined up and they in 12 or 21 or 22, I'm just going to,
Starting point is 00:05:49 I'm going to go ahead and just head to the post. If you catch something else, you got it, babe. But I'm going to go ahead. I'm going to take at least one thing away from him. I'm taking this away. You ain't about to bomb me. Yeah. Yeah, you could try to do that.
Starting point is 00:06:01 But then that's when Chris Oliva says, hey, if he's a 4-2, I'm a 4-29. You know, like, come to this other side, come get this work. Chris Oliva had a miraculous catch. Should have been a touchdown last game. Still confused on what the refs saw. But you know what? We drew blood anyway. So that's all that matters.
Starting point is 00:06:19 Right. It's speed and demons on the team right now. And it looked like it. It looked like y'all got, I don't, you tell me what changed. Because, you know, things didn't go your way last year. You know, it was a lot of injuries and things like. that, but Joe Woods was there as a D.C. He's a really good D.C.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Y'all had a lot of the same pieces offensively. I mean, Alvin was a little banged up. But, I mean, this year just seems like y'all, y'all playing like the rents do, and y'all owe somebody. Like, God. I mean, you know, the mission is every week, of course, is to win.
Starting point is 00:06:52 And we've accomplished a mission twice. That would be said, we started off 2 in O last year. All we have to do is keep on playing our way. But we all know it's a 17-week season. injuries are going to happen. You know, already, you know, Marshawn Lattimore missed this game. You know, that's huge. CB1, you're missing him.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Paulson Bable come through, you know, coming strong with the interception. You had our boy Kool-Aid McKinstreet. I'm going to call him Kool-Aid on camera, but I don't call him Kool-Aid in real life. Out of respect for his name, you know, he came in and played big. It was just an all-out effort. We talked about Tyre Matthews, of course. He's coming up on your numbers-type interceptions. I think he was like number 34, number 30.
Starting point is 00:07:28 Like he's up there interception. He up there. Right. Respect you. I better get a landlord some respect. Right. A fact. So, you know, the way we finished strong last year is how we were coming out hot this
Starting point is 00:07:39 year. And we just got to be consistent about it. Y'all doing a great job. Y'all look good. And, you know, those Stanford guys getting interceptions. I mean, you've got to appreciate that. Yeah, I mean, it's just one of those things that seem to happen quite often. But, man, let's talk about that.
Starting point is 00:07:55 We don't get back to the football and to the important and these amazing Saints and y'all beating the dog mess out of the Cowboys. But what happened to our conference? What happened? We don't have a conference. The PAC 12 is now, we'll be the PAC 6 with the Colorado states of the world. Like, that used to be somebody's warm-up game,
Starting point is 00:08:13 and now they're in there. Fresno State used to be respectable, but they weren't pack-level, but now they're pack-level. I don't know. Call it the Azusa Pacific Conference. Hey, you're calling something else. Call it something else.
Starting point is 00:08:24 I don't like, the PAC used to mean something. But I didn't respect the Pact 12. You know, as a Pact 10 guy that we were, the Pact 12, I was like Utah, Colorado, I don't know if I like it. Utah be playing, though. Utah earned my respect off the gate. Utah earned my respect out the gate. I was like, I don't know if I like it. I saw Utah play.
Starting point is 00:08:49 I say, now they deserve to be there. They might deserve everything they get. They all here just. No doubt. Look, now, then I was looking at Colorado. I was like, what are we doing? I was like, at the time, I was like, I thought we would have added Fresno State before Colorado, Boise State before Colorado, and I'd still probably feel that way.
Starting point is 00:09:08 But again, the pack is something else right now. So, you know, we're ACC now, you know. We fight for the acts on the West Coast in California, but play all of our games in Carolinas, Florida. You got back-to-back games at, again. it's Florida State and then Miami. No doubt. No doubt. At one of the hardest universities to strive
Starting point is 00:09:35 successfully academically wise. Like, oh, yeah, you got midterms coming up. No, no, go play in Miami. And you're sure you're going to have to fly up Thursday for this Saturday game and come back and somehow study for this test on. It's going to be a lot of mass. And we really don't care.
Starting point is 00:09:51 We really don't have any like any variance or any leeway to give you. I mean, we're not giving it to the rest of the students. They're not goddamn flying six hours across the country. Every weekend. When I was a cow, we were like, we knew better than to wear Cal football apparel. Because you sit in that class and like, oh, Mr. Jordan. No, no, no, no, no, no. Hey, I just had a game Saturday.
Starting point is 00:10:13 I'm not going to lie to you. I had parties Saturday night. Like, oh, okay. That first year, Cal, you were rapidly put up to speed on, hey, what things not to do. You can party, but don't you go hard because you probably got a test come Monday. And when you hit those little small, small classes, are they looking for you. No, no question.
Starting point is 00:10:31 And they're texting the coach on speed out. Hey, he wasn't here today. Snitching. Like, no, man, I'm sorry. I had two AC sprains. I was broken. I was in the training room for six hours, trying to put my body back together.
Starting point is 00:10:48 I apologize. You're right. I will be a class on time. I'm sorry. I'm sorry that this civilian who has one class today, and he sleeps all day. and then he sleeps afterwards, and he got to make it. And he even made it for office hours.
Starting point is 00:10:59 I'm sorry, I can't be that guy. I can't be that guy. I'm so glad that's so far in the past. Bro. People are like, are you going to go back to school? No, I'm not. No, I'm not going. I'm going to try.
Starting point is 00:11:12 I try. I tried to resign up for school probably my third year in the league. I was like, yeah, I'm going to do it. And Cal made it sort of hard at the time to get back into classes. I was like, man, I brought the NFL in because, you know, they had that accelerated graduation program. I was like, I got one semester, I just need to finish this. It didn't happen, even with the NFL's help.
Starting point is 00:11:30 I was like, no, he's got to go to Jukal first to come back. I said, man, I said, this is a lot of hoops. I said, I'll get it done a couple years from now. Started having kids, never looked back. I said, you know, four kids in, I'm quite successful in a lot of things that I've done. You know what? I'm going to get the degree hopefully one day, but if not, so what. You're getting real life education right now.
Starting point is 00:11:50 Those four kids giving you a real life. real life. I've got a lot of physical applications. Go bears. Go bears. I've always wondered because I've never asked, how do you feel about your mascot? Like, you know, like, do you take pride in a dancing tree? I do. I do. That's strange. My dog, my dog, Paulson Adibo, you know, corner for us, went to Stanford. I give him hell about that. He's like, yo, you know, Stanford. I say, first of all, you have a dancing tree as a mascot.
Starting point is 00:12:20 and it's not even a good dancing tree. They bought that costume at the Dollar General. Like for as beautiful as the Stanford campuses, for as much money, they built a stadium in 12 months. Like shut down into football season, they started building a stadium. It was finished before the next season.
Starting point is 00:12:40 All that money went into it. Hey, nobody there. Doesn't matter. The details are there. And then you got a dancing mascot that threw some green rags on. and has a random student in there, which I assume is... Look, if you knew what they had to do to become the mascot, your respect level,
Starting point is 00:12:59 I don't know if it would go up, but you'd be even weird. You'd even be... I don't know. I guess you get ingratiated in the strange culture that we got there at Stanford. It's a nerd nation. And so certain things you've got to take pride in because you're a bunch of weirdos and you're way, you know what I mean? And you, you know, when you first get there, you're like, hey, it's a certain thing.
Starting point is 00:13:19 kind of strange, but then you start kind of be like, I'm kind of strange. All right. Not the I'm kind of, hey, these are my people. These are my people. Look, I don't want to admit it outside, but these is, yeah, I'm one of them.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Facts, facts. But back to the important stuff. Back to the Saints, back to how special this team is. Derek Carr playing, Alvin Kamara. they better pay that man and stop playing with that man. Whatever he asks, give it to him now. Hurry up. Now.
Starting point is 00:13:57 Because the price of today will not be the price of tomorrow, and the price of tomorrow will not be the price of next week. Don't let him get to the end of the season. Don't let him get to the end of the season. You know what teams are looking for? Look, you can say the running back market is going down and what's happening to it. But you know whose market ain't?
Starting point is 00:14:14 A.K. A.K. and Christian McCaffrey. No doubt. They were in a difference around. already and you can see it. Everybody can see, oh, that's why they get paid. That's why. That's why. That AK got tackled like four different times in Sunday's game. He comes out, still scores a touch. I said, yo, I'm not going to lie to you. I thought, how did he? We looked at it at two different angles and I still scratched my head and was like, how? How? Like,
Starting point is 00:14:42 showed it in front of the team. Hey, this is a great run. Yeah, the hell it is. Because how? Well, this Houdini as running back. Like, you know what? I've had respect for him since day one as well. Like he came in as a rookie, what was that, seven, eight years ago. And, you know, they were like, oh, he's a good running back. I saw his speed. And I was like, nah, we're going to tax him. And that was back when we used to go live, probably like once a week in training camp.
Starting point is 00:15:06 And I try to smack AK, like, try to put everything I had into him. I was like, I'm a teach young boy, just to leave. And I hit him. And like, he caught some air and, like, took a backstep. And had he not landed out of bounds, he would have took off again. And I was like, and I gave him. everything now like I gave him the uh-uh the beat the tackle real quick for the shan in the back field a bomb he landed and then started moving again and I said oh he's real deal okay there's only
Starting point is 00:15:32 a few running backs in this league I've ever okay I said oh I said he's running he running like prime Adrian Peterson at the Vikings just say okay he's he's got shakes like he like you know what is the Chris Johnson 2K CJ 2K I was like he's running smooth now like it's deceptive it's he's got Deshawn Jackson-type strides. Like, he was like, he ain't even really running until he outruns your safety. And you're like, oh, shh. Until you're watching the fastest guy on your team get walked away from. And you're like, oh, oh, exactly.
Starting point is 00:16:07 That's all you got, you got a lot of, wow. Oh, okay. I thought I was going to, I thought I had an angle on him. You know what? He just looking, looking like that movie line talking about, he makes the fast people look not so fast. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what y'all saying.

Starting point is 00:17:58 double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam Jek. And I'm Alex English.
Starting point is 00:18:12 Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s. 84 is big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
Starting point is 00:18:33 So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you for finishing that sentence. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust.
Starting point is 00:19:41 I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, learn the hard way. Open your free, iHeartRadio app search learn the hard way and listen now what's up fam this isaiah thomas isaiah and i'm cj toledano and our podcast point game is about defining the odds like lebron heading into
Starting point is 00:20:04 the playoffs without lucca and austin reed and finding ways to win no matter what he's the smartest player to ever play the game his IQ is at a level that we've never seen before and he knows without lucca and austin reese i got to manipulate the game we get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us
Starting point is 00:20:33 on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp with that, I said,
Starting point is 00:20:50 you figure it out. real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Look, I grew up with D. Jack since we were kids. We played baseball together since we were like seven years old. So you got to know, when I got to the league and he was doing that, anytime I lined up
Starting point is 00:21:12 in front of him, I knew exactly what was going on. I'm under no disillusionment of what's going on. I know exactly what he has to offer. I am going to the goal line. And if they want to throw it over there, I'll be there too. But I'm not about getting a foot race with him. No, no, no. There's one of them ones.
Starting point is 00:21:31 One of them ones. Yeah. And I played Alvin one time, bro. When I was in San Francisco, I think that was the only time I've ever played him. I think he might have been hurt the other time we came there. But, boy, when you talk about somebody where it looked like he's stopping the time and he's like, what move you're about to make? Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Let me start it again. Excuse me. Let me get out the way. Where are you going up? Why are you on my legs? Yeah, please get off. Get off my legs. I mean, I mean, Cruz, where's my offensive line?
Starting point is 00:21:57 Here, get in front of me, getting in front of me. I don't feel like running fast right now. Just block him real quick. And then I'll accelerate after. I was like, God, who is this dude? And why is he making us look like we ain't, like we ain't pros too? I'm a pro. I'm a pro.
Starting point is 00:22:10 I'm an all pro. I go after him now. Right. Like, I don't know. I don't know who's film he watched. He's like, he grew up watching Marshaun Lynch and the way Marchion used to be able to use the blockers in front of them and then still cut at the same time.
Starting point is 00:22:25 He must have been watching Frank Gore from the hits between the tackles. I was like, in terms of how he ran, he must have seen like prime LaShawn McCoy and CJ 2K. Like I said, I don't know where his game came from because I can't relate it to anybody. No, because it looks like he out there just chill. Like he didn't walk through in a full game.
Starting point is 00:22:44 He's like, hey, let me take this bang, bang. You get this move, cool, rabbi-on-o line, step, jab like, like, touch down. Like, touch there. Touched out. These ain't bad tacklers. These ain't bad defenses.
Starting point is 00:22:58 Man. It's crazy. My man hit the hole yesterday, or not yesterday, Sunday. And Eric Kendrix, who's a hell of a linebacker from Minnesota Vikings,
Starting point is 00:23:08 said, Chargers now over the Cowboys, went to wrap up. Next day, I know Eric's on the ground. I said, what the, I said, hey, yo, bro, that's AKFX.
Starting point is 00:23:15 Yeah, right. I'm sorry. I got a high level of respect for you. And he was, He won nil. I'm sorry. There's a reason. But we got y'all this year, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:24 We got y'all this year in a big game, a really big game, a crazy game. I know it's going to be crazy in New Orleans that day because I think they're retiring Drew's number or Jersey or all that having his ceremony. Sean Payton is coming back. I can't. I'm going to be in there with. Oh, you said, wait, you said we, you claim in Denver now? No, Thursday night football. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:23:50 Hey, hey, I was looking for your loyalties here. I was like, all I know is Sunday, Philly. And then I think I think we got Kent Atlanta after that. So you said we, I was like, we don't put in minors this year? I was like, wait, we don't have Seattle? Okay. We got Thursday night football. Thursday night football.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Against Denver. I know, I know that that's Sean Payton, October 17th. Where we got that one, circle. Yeah, yeah. Not that I have a circle that I'm quite aware. The city has it circle. for sure.
Starting point is 00:24:21 The moment the schedule came out, the city was like, you know October 17th, we got Sean Payton. So I didn't know it was a Thursday, but I knew October 17th, Sean Payton was coming to town. The city has told me about it multiple times.
Starting point is 00:24:32 I'm in the streets. Hey, I hope we beat Atlanta, the Cowboys, and Sean Payton on October 17th. I said, dang. Good morning to you too. I want the Saints to do really well as well. Look, my boy, B.B., Brandon,
Starting point is 00:24:48 Brandon Brown, a couple years. He told me how cold those fans are. He said, I guess y'all, to get from your facility to the parking line or something, like you got to, or maybe it's the stadium to the parking line, you got to walk past a nice strip where fans can be. Yeah, yeah. And he said, they do not have, they do not mind giving you a piece of a mind. All of them. They, they, all the Saints nation, they just, they fully bought in now. They've been, they've been watching the Saints since their grandparents took them to their first game, since their parents took them to their first game,
Starting point is 00:25:21 they're just legacy watchers. Like, I remember the game at Tulane if they old enough, and, oh, man, my grandpa took me out of first game when I said, and I'm going to take my kids, can't wait to take their kids to these Saints games. So they bought in now. There's two games you can't lose a year, and that's against the Atlanta Falcons.
Starting point is 00:25:40 And they, hey, whatever happens, happens. Well, we don't lose no dirty birds, no stinking. I said, yeah, okay. And now I get it. I understand it. You know, like 14 years in, I get the pain. I feel what it is to win and beat, you know, Atlanta. And then the Cowboys somewhere came up in there.
Starting point is 00:25:58 And then everywhere else, there's always like rotate. You know, in the league, there's rotational rivalries. Like, you have won. And it's Atlanta. But then there's like, what a pop up. Be like Cam Newton and Carolina. And it'll get a little energy. It'll get a little wild.
Starting point is 00:26:12 You know, you're like, oh, right? No, I see where you're coming from, bro. Like, okay. We challenged them, and then they disappear. And then it'll be like, you know, they pop up and it'll be like Philadelphia for a year two because you saw them in the playoffs or Minnesota. It's like, oh, no, we need our lick back. You know, like this, you'll have rotational rivals, but there's always going to be
Starting point is 00:26:29 your first love and your first hate. And you know, your first hate. Your first hate is going to be Atlanta. Right. But now, now, look, the, the cup of coffee I spent in Tampa Bay that year, I realized there's a genuine hate there, too. But that's one-sided. That's more hate from Tampa to New Orleans than New Orleans of Tampa.
Starting point is 00:26:51 That's fair. It's legitimate. No doubt. No doubt. Like from, because, you know, we played and it was the Josh Freeman era and the James era. And then it was like you had two really good years with Tompa. With Tom.
Starting point is 00:27:05 You know, the Tampa era. And that's what they're still holding on to. They're like, hell yeah. You got to respect us. Calm down, bro. Like, relax. You're no longer in that era. It was short-lived and you got to love.
Starting point is 00:27:15 lot of success out of there. We get it. But y'all, y'all was beating them in that era because I want to say y'all only lost in the playoffs in that time because I came and I cannot believe we lost that game. I didn't play in it because I was hurt. We lost to like Simeon somebody. It was like three. I think James got hurt and then somebody.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Trevor Simeon was in the thing. Simeon came in there tossing the rock around the yard. I said, I looked at my cleats. I said it might be that time. It might be. Hey, look, again, it was one side. from, you know, they're like, yeah, you're going to see us. So really not worried about you, bro.
Starting point is 00:27:50 We got Atlanta next week, you know? Like, we got bigger games we got to play. And then y'all won a Super Bowl and they're like, yeah, yeah, you're scared of us. I think we beat y'all 9-0. With tournament at the helm, relax, take it easy. Right. I mean, that D-line y'all got right now. Y'all's been giving people hell for a long time and they don't ever give you
Starting point is 00:28:10 enough appreciation for your unit and how devastating. because regardless of what your record is and what's going on and overall, that pass rush is going to be there. Get going to be there. Look, stop the run, have some fun. You know, I'm fully bought in. I don't stop the run. I'm going to hold that down to the death of me.
Starting point is 00:28:29 And now it's like, you know, you got Chase Young. You got Carl Grannison. We drafted Peyton Turner. You got Isaiah Foskey. So it's like all these, you got five really good ends. And so now it's like, you know, what I've been asking for for years, I was like, hey, man, we need one of those monsters. We need one of those monsters in Mendel.
Starting point is 00:28:44 One of those guys you can't teach, you know, big sweat from Texas. I was like, oh, man, I need them. You know, Christian Barmore. I was like, man, no and no. And I was like, come on, man. You know, like we got to go get one of these guys, these monsters, Jordan Davis, you know, with these James Carter's, whatever. No and no.
Starting point is 00:28:59 We get Brian Bricis. I was like, we finally got us a dog in the middle. And it was like, all right, we need one more. Hey, Cam, why don't you slide inside? Wait, wait, wait, wait, that's not what I was asking for? I asked for a monster that you can't. Not, Cam, you've been, nobody like, you know the game. So what?
Starting point is 00:29:12 you know, I ask for a monster. Cam, go be a monster in the middle. I'm a monster on the edge. Okay. I'm not even that scary. I talk a lot of shit. So, so in the middle, huh? Team.
Starting point is 00:29:32 Team. Team. Team. Team. Team. Team. Team. Team. Big team. Little me. I said, okay. And so third down comes and it's Carl on the edge. It's Chase on the edge. It's Brian Brzee in the middle. And I'm lined up like. Hey, Brian, you got me? He's like, yeah, let's go get it.
Starting point is 00:29:49 All right, bro. It's a different mentality. I'm in my vial hall of warrior type stage. I live, I die, I live again. I see the beer. You got it going. Hey, got it going. I'm in my warrior mentality, bro.
Starting point is 00:30:02 If that's what you take, and I'm out here giving stutter steps and powers and everything else, I'm like, okay, I'm, hey, whatever it is, I'm bought in. I'm bought in. Look, I've run into that A gap only a few times in my, career. I'm going to let y'all know something. If you put a virtual reality helmet on and got to experience different positions in football, you would understand it's an entirely different game depending on which position you play. And in those trenches, he's real in a suit.
Starting point is 00:30:31 Bro, I went in there and grown men start grabbing me to the point where I said, I need a self-defense weapon on this field because that man grabbed me and I could not get his hands off of me for my life. And I had to tell myself, hey, you know, no matter how much I lift, some of these men are built and bred to do this. No doubt. And all they want to do is get their hands on somebody 200 pounds or less. Man, just a, Trent William highlight. Like, Trit can't wait to grab somebody under 250.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Look at what Trent Williams does. That's why you don't let them get to the second level, because he's going to embarrass the hell out of anybody who is 235 and below. Trent is a monster. He has a freaking gorilla on the side of his plane. He is looking to create these highlights. And guess what? He just gave me a chance.
Starting point is 00:31:25 You just gave me a chance. Bro, Travis Frederick's, the Cowboys ran like a tall sweep, pulled both ends, and the backers got captured. So they got washed inside. So it's two pullers. So I can't even cut right now. I've got to stand up and try to send it all back. He must have grabbed me.
Starting point is 00:31:41 And before I knew it, I'm stepping over camera, man. What I tell you, What I tell you about wearing these white T's in a club? No white T's in a club. Get out of here. I had to tell him, hey, do not dump me. Do not dump me. Do not dump me.
Starting point is 00:31:56 My son is at this game. Not put me on the crowd. He bring on children in this. Man. He didn't dump me, though, for our respective. You know what I mean, Travis Frederick, you always got a fan than me. I turn, hey, I rely on beast mode at 100% of time. I'm like, I got too much pride to fall.
Starting point is 00:32:14 There's some times you're going to get got, but I'm going to get got. Right. But see, you're 300 and you're pushing a lot of weight. Man, man, I'm going to have to be 300 soon. But I'm not going to be there. In fact, I'm going lighter. This year, hey, you know, I'm going lighter. Hey, I've normally played like 285, 290.
Starting point is 00:32:33 I'm 2.75. And I'm maybe in touch 270. I'm going faster. If you need faster to speed of light, I'm going Aaron Donald. Are you going to go Mike Bennett? No. Mike B had them little ass pads, bro. He was an AC problem waiting to happen.
Starting point is 00:32:49 Like, I know his shoulders hurt. Like, there's a reason why it might be disappeared for a while because he probably had to go to reconstructive surgery on his body. I know he disappeared and did some like motherland, Graceland type stuff to get his body right. Because Mike B was wearing your pads out there. 100%. And with the little shoulder things cut off.
Starting point is 00:33:06 Shoulders out taking on blocks. I say, yeah, no, fam. I need that. So tell me about this DN summit that they had. You know, I think that's one of the coolest things. I know kiddo and those guys do the tight end. you and all that. And,
Starting point is 00:33:20 and Vaughn, I don't know if Bond started. Bonn, for sure, you know, you know what it is. Bond started,
Starting point is 00:33:26 it was the, you know, the past rush count, probably 12 years ago, 11 years ago. And then two years ago, he was like, hey, Cam,
Starting point is 00:33:34 I want to make this, like huge. I want to make this big. I want to make this better. Like, we already have some guys, you know, 15, 20 guys short.
Starting point is 00:33:41 We get working and all this other stuff. He's like, oh, he's like, I got dreams of this being ours. I was like, man, you know, Vaughn,
Starting point is 00:33:47 visionary, brings in Max Krazi, myself, you know, between that, we make the Pass Rush Summit, and we had, what, like 60 plus guys, edge rushers, D tackles, D-Ns from across the league getting working. So there's, where there's vision, there's always, there's always dreams. And when dreams become reality, there's, it's great possibilities. Just talking football, you know, the Matt Judons is the Josh Allen's, Heinz, now that, you know, now he switched up his last name. you know, the Brian Burns, Von Miller, Max Krause, myself, you know,
Starting point is 00:34:22 big Simmons over Tennessee. There's so many guys in this league showed up, showed out, and just shooting ideas off each other. And you got something like that, like learning mentalities, teaching different pastures moves, it's only going to be beneficial towards you, you know, and it's just to be around greatness. You're like, bro, I got to go get it. I literally was sitting at like 287, 288, and I was like,
Starting point is 00:34:46 all these skinny mugs around me. It's time to see what this skinny life talking about. You know, Bonn and Max ain't nothing but $255 with the backpack's on. Right, right. I said, all right, time for Skinny Cam to show up. Boy, it's got me. Y'all got me assed up. No doubt.
Starting point is 00:35:03 I was like, I hit Camp. I got to like 268. And I was like, yeah, Skinny Cam here. And they're like, Cam, three techniques. I was like, Skinny Cam can't be here. Getting skinny. 275. Okay, I was like, we could, we go, we go eat again.
Starting point is 00:35:15 Skinny cam, go on, go. Does he have a white shirt? shirt on? Because at the three technique, I could probably suffice. I slid over to the nose one time. I'm over the center. I said, oh, no, no, no. This skinny cam can't do this.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Okay. Medium cam. They be punching, they'd be trying to punch through chest out there. Man, you can make sure all my blitzes go to the outside. Look, you could be in that middle and be like, oh, yeah, I'm going to handle this center expeditiously. And that guard would like, yeah, but what about these hairs? I didn't even finish with him, bro.
Starting point is 00:35:47 Right. I can't, the swipe won't work if we're already engaged. Right. Could you just wait one second? Let me beat him real quick. Yeah, let me beat him and I get to you in a second. I just, okay, you know, so it's a new life. It's a new realm.
Starting point is 00:36:01 And, you know, it's a new way of learning, but that's exciting too. So you go from like, nah, you know who I am to, you know what? I can be dominant anywhere and I fully believe that. So let's go get it. I love it. I love it. And I love how much, because it seems like everybody's getting a lot out of that. You know, you giving a lot.
Starting point is 00:36:19 You know, I see you giving technique and giving a game to the young guys. And it's so needed because you only respect so many people in this league. You know, you're not about to just sit there and listen to anybody. Even some of these coaches, I'm about to sit here and listen to you tell me how to be great when I saw your tape. Right. Like, don't, don't talk to me about this. I know what your tape looked like. Now, there's other coaches who never played the game that got the utmost respect.
Starting point is 00:36:43 Yeah, well, listen to everything you say because you're so prepared. You game plan right, you put the work in. I know you know what you talk about. But when you hear it come from a player that played at such a high level that you watched and you always wanted to know, man, what ingredients are in that goddamn, in that what he cooking up? Because he, did you watch Vaughn this week? Man.
Starting point is 00:37:04 On Thursday? I'll say this last 30, yeah, yeah, Bond is back in action, bro. The long arm, the ghost moves. I'll say he's acting up right now. Acting up. And their D-Lines crazy too, because, I mean, you got, You got, you got, you got Espenna. I always mess up his name.
Starting point is 00:37:22 You got Epinez over there. You got a young bull who just got paid from UH. I was like, their, their D-Line in general is going federally. Federalie. And he, if he's back. Yeah. And he, I was like, clearly he's back in full force out there timing. Kadas is jumping.
Starting point is 00:37:41 I was like, bro, his, the fact that his first three steps is still elite, like, it's crazy to see. bro, I was sitting there, we were in the green room watching it, and we were like, it was like a third and goal from like the six or seven, and they didn't have no choice, and they were trying to get to the line, they had to pass it. I said, oh, this is a Vonsac. Like, y'all, y'all not going to double count him right here?
Starting point is 00:38:01 It was a third and eleven right before the half where I thought he was going to go do it, but I think they were in a screen or something, but I was like, this is a, he, if he jumps offside, it's not going to matter, so he's definitely going to jump this one. Fact. Fact. his knowledge of the game just allows him to jump and he'll tell you like I'm going to jump this cap
Starting point is 00:38:21 like you can see it in a stance I'm like oh he's jumping this okay go kid okay well if you just think about that class that 2011 draft class like you went 24th and I know if they redrafted you would be top five but would I look right if we redrafted top 15 yeah give me your redraft
Starting point is 00:38:44 Give me your top 15. Man, out of ours, that's crazy. You're going to have Cam Newton still at one. You're going to have Vaughn at two. You're going to have Marcel Darius at three still. You're going to have, you're probably going to say Julio or Pat P. Pete. And, you know, that's, yeah, Pat P at four, Julio at five, AJ at six would probably be the switch
Starting point is 00:39:08 up. Right. But then you got Tyrant. Right. I was like, you still want Tyrant in your top 10. so you're going to say Tywin and you're going to have to include J.J. Watt. And you're going to have to probably include, you know, Alden Smith because he was the fastest to 45 sacks ever.
Starting point is 00:39:23 So you weren't wrong. You just, you know, like so there's your 10. And then, you know, I'm going to throw myself hopefully in there or at around 10, 11-ish. And then there's still Ryan Kerrigan. And then there's Robert and like you couldn't, Cam Hayward. Like you couldn't miss if you say top 15. Right. You have one of the Pouncy brothers.
Starting point is 00:39:41 You know, we have one of the Pouncy brothers out there. Like, then you throw in Justin. Houston, Richard Sherman, we're already at 20. Like you forget Jason Kelsey? Like, he's getting silly. Yeah, it's, it's real. I don't know if there's a redraft possibility. I mean, what you'd rather do is have Cam Newton as the only quarterback in that draft class.
Starting point is 00:40:00 And then you take out the other two quarterbacks and insert somebody. Because out of that top 10, that's the only ones you'd like, oh, we could have done better. All right. The quarterbacks are what was he? We had Blaine and we had Jaybber and Christian, Christian Ponder and J. and Jake. Yeah, and Jake. Yeah, we could have done without them.
Starting point is 00:40:17 You could have done without them. In the first round. You know, they could have, we could have slid it. You know, I would have took out Jake and put in Andy Dahlton. You know, like. And you would have been fine. You would have been fine. Andy had a heck of a career.
Starting point is 00:40:28 And speaking to that, I mean, starting again. Starting again. And people, this is what I don't think people understand about the league. Like, there are quality quarterbacks not starting in this league because you have to draft these guys and give the fans hope. But Andy Dalton was a better. quarterback since Bryce Young got there and is still the better quarterback today because he's a pro quarterback. He can drop back and read a defense, get the ball where it's supposed to get,
Starting point is 00:40:53 throw for 300 yards, execute your offense. And, you know, will he occasionally turn the ball over a little bit more? Sure. But can he get you in a position that you have a chance where you feel like going into this game? I have a chance to win. No question. Facts. Anyways, wait, I got to go. I'm about I'm about to run. All right, baby. Appreciate you. Appreciate you joining me. And be. Have a great day. Peace. Peace.
