Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

I'm taking you behind the scenes on how I became one of Twitch's most popular streamers. We also love sports. Starting point is 00:01:39 What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was crying. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Marquis come in. He's like, you know I love you, dog.
Starting point is 00:02:00 You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHart Podcasts presents Soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. with all the snacks and drinks.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? They had a bogo. Well, then you got them. Listen to soccer moms on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Broke off two sacks. You know, I thought he was going to throw it after that. But then, you know, Baker Magic kicked in.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Welcome back to the Richard Sherman podcast. We got an incredible guest. A good friend of mine, Levante, David, the veteran, never gets enough credit. How are you? I'm good, bro. Thank you for having me as always. man, good talking to you.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Good talking to you, too. You're having another great season. You got 57 tackles, two and a half sacks in a book. How are your body feeling? Body feeling good, man, getting back on track, you know, especially having this all week, off week, this past week during the middle of the season. Perfect timing, man. You know, get a chance to kind of like on wine, get away from football a little bit,
Starting point is 00:03:24 work on a little small thing as far as, like, body, and getting some much needed rest for show. You know, the guy of my age, I need it all. definitely felt good, man. I'm ready to get back to it. You are one of the few players with 1,500 tackles, 35 plus sacks and 10 plus interceptions. How do you balance your run duty
Starting point is 00:03:46 and all the responsibilities you have with that with your ability and coverage? Man, it's a lot that goes into it. You know, obviously, film study is the main thing and understanding of your opponent. And then understanding what you can do within a defense, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:04:01 Understand when you can be aggressive. understanding when you can't be aggressive, understanding when you cannot kind of like jump routes and stuff like that, understanding when you can't jump routes and understanding who you're working with. You know, you got some guys and, you know, our back-in who I'm pretty confident in.
Starting point is 00:04:15 So they do give me an opportunity to be aggressive in coverage and also in the run game. You got a guy like Vita Vail, you know, who, you know, takes up multiple blocks and things like that, giving you a chance to, you know, kind of run freely and shoot gaps. So definitely a chance, you know, times where you have to, you know, pull your trigger and then sometimes you have to hold. back a little bit, but you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:04:34 Never take that aggressiveness away, you know, out your game. And that's what I try to do. I want to talk about your relationship with Todd Bowles. Yeah. Because I think that's one of the cooler relationships in the National Football League, at least when I was there for a little bit of, you know, a cup of coffee I was in Tampa. An incredibly smart coordinator, but just a good human being and a good leader of men. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Yeah, man. It's incredible. You know, usually I have a chance to see what a lot of people don't see. you know, everybody always, you know, see him as this mild-mannered guy who don't, you know, get on people who will just be quiet and everything. But it's the complete opposite, you know what I'm saying? When you've got a divot's in mind, the head coach sometimes and the divot is not working the way he runs it, you would definitely see a different side of him.
Starting point is 00:05:19 And we've seen it. We've seen it. I've seen it. You know what I'm saying? But he's one of those guys who's very open, man. Very open. Jokes a lot. You know, always happy, you know, always working his mind.
Starting point is 00:05:31 always working. And that's what we love about him, man. He always want to put us in the best position to make plays. And that's why a lot of guys, you know, love to play for him. And my relationship with him is just that, you know, it's an open-door policy with him. I could text him whenever I have questions about anything in life, you know, the same thing with him. You know, when, you know, you witnessed it, man, with something not, you know, we're not good with something in the defense. You know, all you got to do is telling me he'll throw it out. And that's what I love, man. You know, most decontators and I really like that, they kind of stubborn guys,
Starting point is 00:06:01 but not bowls, man. He's very open. And, you know, he let his players, he wanted to put his players in the best position to make plays. This is your 14th season with one team. Not many players in the National Football League and the history of the National Football League
Starting point is 00:06:15 can say that. Could you talk about just the loyalty you feel to that franchise and what they feel back to you? Because I love the family environment they create out there. Yeah, man. It's definitely that. It's a family environment.
Starting point is 00:06:27 You know, a lot of guys who they draft, they try to keep intact, You know, core guys, things like that. You've seen it with me. You see it with Mike. You see it with Chris Godwin. You've seen it with Will Goshen and guys like that. And much guys to come.
Starting point is 00:06:41 You know, I feel like it might be that way with Antonio Winfield with Vita. You know, core guys want to keep those guys around. And, you know, for me, man, like just going through what I went through earlier in my career in this program, you know, I thought I was probably going to be one of the first guys out when the changing, you know, the regime, New Jersey regime came in. But I was one of the first people they called us. that they wanted me to be a part of it. So that did make me feel, you know, kind of, you know, comfortable in a way and things like that,
Starting point is 00:07:07 but still knowing that I have to do my job and take care of what I need to take care of. And, you know, from them until you kind of like, you know, relay that back to me, having that relationship with Jason Light and all those guys, you know, when they, you know, reach out to me and let me know, like, hey, man, you know, we want you to be a part of this. You want to keep core foundations of what we want to build, continue to build around. And all it does for me is just giving me confidence as a player, you know, katita, you know, go out there and put my best foot forward and try my best to be a leader
Starting point is 00:07:34 for the program for the up-and-coming guys. But it's not even just your play on the field, you know, which has been incredible. You have been one of the best middle linebackers in the national football league, one of the best linebackers, too, forget middle. But off the field, you work hard, you do what you're supposed to do. You're a do-shit right guy, what they say, do-shit-right guy. You've done it your entire career. You talk about surviving regimes.
Starting point is 00:07:58 You survive more than regimes. You survive. Right, right, right. But it's always every year they're drafting somebody to replace you, the replacement, the next guy, the next guy, and that's what they're saying about Mike. They're like, they always drafted somebody to retire Mike Evans. Mike Evans just get another thousand off.
Starting point is 00:08:17 My heart was broken when it broke his damn car. Yeah, man. That was tough. But that was tough. But I say all that to say, like, talk me through how, how, what you do off the field to, to take care of your body and take care of yourself to last as long as a Mike Lineback. Yeah, man, I think the main thing is, is being disciplined.
Starting point is 00:08:38 You know what I'm saying? Like, my whole goal was to, you know, when I got a chance that I figured I could make it to the NFL, my whole goal was to make an NFL and make it an end up for the last NFL. And I had to do what it takes to be able to, you know, do that and sustain in this league. You know, me wanting to be one of the best people, best players in the game, and me wanting to, you know, protect my legacy, protect my name in the back of my jersey. So I was doing everything that I had to do to, you know, take care of that. I had a good, I got a good support in chaos around with my family and friends, things like that.
Starting point is 00:09:07 So they definitely kept me on tack and be able to, you know, take care of what I need to take care of. It's a time, time to play in a time not to play for me, you know what I'm saying. All season, you know, all season, it may seem long, but it's not that long. You know how it is, man. You may have a good month at max or a couple of weeks at max to be able to, you know, kind of like have a little fun and do what you got to do. But at the same time, man, you got to get back to it because, you know, these seasons, you know, these seasons is very long. You've got to be able to sustain your level of play.
Starting point is 00:09:35 And, you know, for the most part, man, I just try to stay level-headed, you know, always, you know, focus on the main goal, and that's being the best athlete I can be. And when I do that, you know what I'm saying? I have time to play when I retire. But, you know, right now when I'm in the game, I just try to foot my best foot forward and be the best player. Every year, at least out in Tampa, I know the main goal is to win your division. Yes, winning your division guarantees your playoff spots.
Starting point is 00:09:59 And you all have won it four years. straight, but it's always been a grind. It's been strong. Grinding out. Last game, you better hope somebody lose and they win, et cetera, et cetera. But this year has been a little different. And even the year,
Starting point is 00:10:14 y'all went to Super Bowl with Tom. It wasn't like a smooth, like we felt good the whole year and we're going to the playoffs. Y'all were on the road. So talk about the differences between that season and just the confidence you guys feel this season. Yeah, man. You know, that year that year that we went to the Super Bowl, I believe
Starting point is 00:10:30 going to the bow, we were seven and five. So, you know, it was pretty tough. So we definitely had to battle. You know, luckily we didn't lose the game after that. But that was pretty cool. But, you know, right now and the years after, eight and nine, nine and eight, ten and seven, you know, you're grinding, man. You got to grind.
Starting point is 00:10:47 And it always come down to that last game. But, you know, as you know, man, you don't want to be in that situation. So our whole main thing is, you know, when the game is you're supposed to win and just, you know, just dominate the while, you know what I'm saying? We feel like we compete with any team in this league. You know, we got a talented roster. You know, it's a lot of depth with this roster that we haven't had on a very long time. That's something that, you know, I really love to see.
Starting point is 00:11:09 And the guys are hungry. You know what I'm saying? Guys are hungry. Guys want to go out there. Guys want to battle. And guys want to make plays. And that's what you see out of a lot of guys right now on this team. And, you know, obviously, you know, Starwood Baker, you know, the way he's carrying,
Starting point is 00:11:22 the way he's leading us. And everybody just trickling down to everybody. Man, you got a lot of young guys stepping up. And that's a testament to, you know, the veterans in the locker room, man. You know, I'm showing them in a way, showing how things are supposed to be done, and how we want things done. And let them know, you know, we don't want to be in them situations like we were the past couple years, you know, you're going to kind of like knock this out early.
Starting point is 00:11:44 You know, hopefully, you know, lead to A&FC and get us a bye week and the playoffs. But, you know, that time will come when it comes. But, you know, right now we just focus on one game at a time. And it's been pretty cool, man. It's been something extremely fun and be a part of. And we're ready to get back to it. it. No question about it. Y'all, y'all have had some, some different games.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Y'all went on the road, gotten a shootout with Seattle, we're able to pull off the win. I know Bowles wasn't happy about that today. No, no. A lot of stern conversations. Yeah. But talk about Baker Mayfield and what he is meant to this team because, you know, I'm not going to be the lazy guy to ask you.
Starting point is 00:12:25 The difference between Baker Mayfield and Tom Brady is just such a lazy question. It's clear differences. But there was a play that almost defines y'all season and defines Baker Mayfield against the San Francisco 49. When it was third and 17, he had no business getting the first down on his play. He breaks two or three tackles in the backfield, gets out of there, drops his shoulder, breaks another one, reaches for the first down. What was going through your mind at that moment?
Starting point is 00:12:51 Yeah, man, you know, at that moment, I'm standing up watching, you know, so it's third or 17. So, you know, you got a little faith, but you know how it is, man. you know how it is on 3017. Defense love for 1317. So I'm assuming something for that happening. He might get a little pass off or run the ball, get a little screen. You know, something's safe and, you know, putting the ball out.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Let us get on the field. So I'm starting. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, huge news? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:13:20 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
Starting point is 00:13:34 I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this.
Starting point is 00:13:51 We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, hey Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little note had Hey Jonas and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:14:40 or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines.
Starting point is 00:14:59 We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to SportsSlic on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slicelife 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:15:34 The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis. And I know firsthand because I competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs. And on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris. Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay. Jen should win. I mean, she went down to three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me.
Starting point is 00:15:59 And she likes Clay. Listen, Lena Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any surface. Because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. What's up, fam, it's Isaiah Thomas.
Starting point is 00:16:24 And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the
Starting point is 00:16:52 lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night bases on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man,
Starting point is 00:17:08 hell get the flying. He run up the court licking his fingers while he got the ball. After you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to point game on the iHeart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:17:26 And I'm watching and I see and I seen the magic happen. You know what I'm saying? He, uh, he, uh, broke off two sacks, you know, I thought he was going to throw it after that. But then, you know, Baker Magic kicked in. You know what I'm saying? You know, I'm on the sideline jumping up hype, crunk, you know, when he got the first down, got up all hype and I'm on the side. I'm like, I'm flexing and everything too. Like I love that. I mean, you see your quarterback doing stuff like that. It just does something to you, man. And that's just him. He'd been like that since day one since he got in the building.
Starting point is 00:17:55 And, you know, he just brings a different type of energy, you know, to our locker room, man. And it's crazy because, like, in a locker room, you know, he smiling, kind of act a little, little shy, you know, playing around and stuff like that. And then, you know, game time come, you know, he's just a different animal. And that's what I love to see, man. Like, he plays with a chip on his shoulder, you know, obviously for them stuff that he's been through, you know, being counted out and things like that. But for him, I think it's the part of, you know, he got a group of guys around who believe in him and giving him the confidence to go out there and be the best player he can be. And knowing that he got his back is definitely true, true, likely you can see it.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Yeah, you would have never believed in a million years. When he first got there, there was a QB controversy. We ain't even talk about that. But he really has just coming to his own, he got the young kid, Ameca Buka, playing live. Lights out football. We talked about Chris. We talked about Big Mike.
Starting point is 00:18:55 It just seems like this team is jailing. Like it's a good culture. It's a reason why you guys keep winning. It's a reason why guys stay. Even Jamel Dean is catching the exception. I said, Jamel Dean, he got hands like a snake. Right, right, right, right. You see, give him a hard time about that all time.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Give him a hard time. He texts me every other. you see that one? Yeah. Yeah. He knows we always get him a hard time about it. So gotta tell him, man, you got to catch the one and throw to you, bro. And he's bringing him down, man. I love to see it, man. I love it. Yeah, man. I had to text Rock the other day. I said, I don't know how you survive with these boys stress you out like that. At least he got Antoine. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, rock on them. Right, rock is on them. No question about it. So this Patriots game, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Before the season, you know, we're not going to sit here and act like NFL teams aren't NFL teams, but it didn't look like it looked now. It looks like game of the week now, two six and two teams. They're playing well. You guys are playing incredibly well. Talk about Drake May, what challenges he gives. Yeah, man, he's going to be a challenge, man. He's a young quarterback, but he's playing like a veteran.
Starting point is 00:20:11 You know, he's making all his right reads. He's taking his shots when he's supposed to take his shots when he got guys, checking the ball down. He was getting rid of football. And it's just like, man, he letting the game come to him. You know, he's not pressing. He's not rushing the stroll and things like that. He's just letting the game come to him.
Starting point is 00:20:26 And, you know, they've been doing a good job, but, you know, getting guys around him. You know, they got some weapons on the outside that he can get the ball to. Got two great tight ends. And, you know, he got the young running back, making players and open field and things like that, getting the ball out to him, you know, creating havoc in the space. And you can tell, man. You could tell the way he looks, man. He just letting the game come to him.
Starting point is 00:20:46 him and he's just like he's playing like with no pressure. And that what you want for a young quarterback, man. And they're doing a great job, you know, scheming things up and allow him to make plays. Sometimes, you know, we're taking off with the football. He's athletic. He could do that too. So obviously it's going to be a challenge for us, you know, defensively to be able to combat that and kind of like, you know, do things to minimize, you know, especially those the supposed to plays that they get, you know, so that's going to be a challenge for us, man. And they're playing great football. No question about that.
Starting point is 00:21:16 What are you feeling? What are your expectations for the rest of this year? Man, you know, I just want us to keep climbing. You know what I'm saying? It's been a lot of times where, you know, in the middle of the season, we kind of held a low all and things don't go our way. But, you know, we kind of want to kind of like just capitalize on what we've been doing early in the season.
Starting point is 00:21:37 You know, we still want to be that team that grinds out through, you know, all four quarters. You know, we're a team who play with a lot of grit, you know what I'm saying? You need to continue to go out there making plays and continue to build on the success that we have, especially defensively. You know, defensively, I feel like we started out a little slow. And now we kind of like getting in a groove of things, stuff like that. I think guys are getting more comfortable because there was a lot of moving parts. Obviously, you know, a couple guys getting to hurt guys, you know, switching here and there, you know, guys coming back from injury and things like that. So I feel like everybody started getting a little jail.
Starting point is 00:22:12 Everybody's trying to kind of like understanding what office is trying to do. against us, you know, and, you know, how there's, man, in the middle of the season, you know, offense, you're going to get what you're going to get. It just basically comes down to, you know, play on player, athlete, and who's going to be the best. And we feel like we got the best, so we're going to see how it go. We're going to see how it go. I'm going to see how it go. I can't wait to see it because it's been great so far. I appreciate always. I know you, this year, this your day off, you got to get some rest and spend some time with the family. I appreciate you taking a chance to spend some time with your boy.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Yeah, you definitely appreciate you, man. You know, it's all love with you, man. You know how it is, bro. Appreciate you, man. Yes, sir. All love. All love, my gosh. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers.
Starting point is 00:22:58 I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. Nice. We invented a podcast?
Starting point is 00:23:06 Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We get to ask other people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
