This is an IHeart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with
Robert Smygel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments
in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories,
their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody can.
gets to hear. Listen to SportsSlic on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Sliced Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced
games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way,
the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full
year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds, I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe
to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit are armored.
It signals to the world that you're not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.
Listen to learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
The volume.
Notice, sir.
New balls for these yo kids.
Super Bowl.
Championship.
That should always be the expectation.
All right, man.
That's going on here.
Welcome back to the Richard Sherman podcast, brought to you by our friend.
and partners over at Brightling.
Today is the day I get my Seattle Seahawks Brightling.
And before that, I have an incredible guest defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks,
Uchina Nuwusu.
He's been incredible in his career,
and I cannot wait to see him back on the field in full force this Sunday night.
It's going to be incredible.
I appreciate you joining me, brother.
I'm so happy to see you back on the field.
How you feeling?
Going on, Mr. Sherman.
I'm good.
I'm good.
Just happy to be back out there, feel good.
man, and we were just talking about this before we started,
but it's a grown man game on that D-line O line.
Like, it's a whole different game than we play on the edges.
And so you got to take your time coming back.
You said you feel good, how you feel, you know,
with your second week of able to, you know what I mean,
getting contact and ramping it up.
Yeah, definitely taking a step up this week.
You know, when that first game back after however many weeks I've been out,
you know, any athlete knows it's tough, you know,
trying to get back into rhythm, just trusting yourself again,
having confidence.
You know, so I used that last week,
was kind of that confidence builder.
And I feel more and more confidence
as I'm going to this next week and is back.
Look, I talk to people about this all the time
because I've been in competition committee meetings
and, you know, as a vice president of NFLPA,
and it's really frustrating because they talk about
all this health and safety stuff.
They talk about it all the time.
And when I sit there and say, all right, health and safety, right,
no blind side blocks, no, you know what I mean,
hitting the offense up high,
them down low. So then why are y'all letting our D-Lyman get chip? Like, they're engaging.
They're, they're hand on hand, and y'all letting them get rib-checked by a guy they're not looking
at. Yeah, it's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. And they won't change it. And they're like, well,
you know, that's to protect the quarterback. I said, so are we protecting everybody or just some people?
I say the same thing. Man, they're making the game really hard for defensive players now,
really with the new with all the rule changes and the way we got to tackle and the way we do
we'd hit, deliver the hip, you know, it's always the revolving door, but, you know,
we've got to adjust and got to keep playing.
Man, it's been so much nonsense.
Even, even, I just saw something a couple minutes ago about Kirby Joseph.
And, you know, some, I don't know what fan it was, a Green Bay Packers fan, I guess,
sitting there calling Kirby Joseph dirty because he's hitting tight ends low.
He hitting them at their knees because he's a small safety in a 265.
And they're like, well, he should be hitting them at the waist.
I said, y'all didn't lost your damn minds.
Y'all have gone outside your minds.
Now y'all want us to aim for a box this small while a dude is moving up and down and in and out and left and right.
And so, but sorry, I'm going on the ramp because the way you got hurt was another one of them plays.
And I, you know, I don't even want to hear, you know what I mean, make you say anything about it because you've already spoke your piece on it.
But I get to speak my piece now.
Like, that was some bull.
That was some total bull.
Like, and if it happened on the other side, they'd be so quick to call us dirty.
and so quick to say, oh, man, we deserve to be suspended.
But when that play happens, they're just like, it's part of the game.
What you mean?
What you mean is part of the game?
I'm out for however many games,
and he gets to keep playing over a weak preseason play.
Right.
I agree.
I was just frustrating.
Sorry, I went on my rant.
But how are you feeling about this week?
A big game coming up, obviously.
Again, another game, y'all got to have two-game lead and division.
it just seems like this defense and its team overall
has started to figure it out.
Yeah, yeah, we are starting to figure out.
You know, we're trusting this game a lot more
everybody's playing together, communicating out there
for flying around and having fun.
So, you know, we're treating every week
like it's a playoff game at this point,
which pretty much is if we want to secure the division title,
which we haven't done here since, you know, 2020, I believe.
So everybody's on a mission right now.
We see the bigger picture.
Everybody's hungry.
We all believe in and trust and stuff.
We just got to keep doing what we're doing.
Fundamentally sound,
sound, you know, just homing on the basics, and, you know, we can go far.
There was a lot of concern when, you know, they traded Jerome Baker or they, you know,
they traded him, they cut Tyrell Dodson.
And then they brought in Ernest Jones and elevated Therese Knight.
And now it just seems like since they made those changes, that's when the defense is
really taken off.
Ernest Jones just looks like a revelation.
I mean, for a guy to come in during a buy week and fit in in the way he has,
I'm surprised they ain't stamped the sea on his jersey yet because he just
seems to be making that kind of impact.
Week in and week out,
he had to turn over.
And it just seems like he's making the right fits.
He's flying around.
He's playing fast.
The young rook is playing fast as well.
Talk about their impact.
Yeah, he's been doing a great job.
Happily we got him.
You know, he brings that sense of level,
like level-headedness and calmness to the defense.
I feel like we were missing,
especially in the middle linebacker position, you know.
And he just knows how to communicate.
He knows how to talk to guys.
He knows how to get guys going.
And then, you know, to have, like, that confidence building right in the middle of the defense is very important.
And he complements Tyrese, the rookie, really well.
You know, he gives him the confidence to keep playing.
We always knew he had the talent.
And, you know, all those early reps he got in and camp, he was running with the ones a lot.
You know, running with the two, almost every rep didn't come out in training camp.
You know, those are paying dividends now.
You know, he's got the taste.
He's seen, he's had a lot of preseason action.
And his confidence is just, you know, building.
He always knew, you know, something got to stay ready.
and that's the type of guy he is.
He stayed in the playbook, you know,
stayed in the recovery rooms,
keep his body on tight,
and now he's produced out of high level.
It's going to be your first game,
I guess, in a long time,
playing with the Big Cat.
And he seems to have found his legs about him,
been making a lot of plays,
forcing a lot of double teams,
which is going to make your job a whole lot easier.
And how exciting is that, you know,
to play with a guy like that
who's going to free you up to get the one-on-ones
and really flourish like you deserve?
Yeah, I mean, I haven't played with him
since college.
You know,
when they traded for him last year,
I was unfortunately hurt men.
So I couldn't play with him last year.
And so,
you know,
now,
being able to play with a guy like that
as just so dominant in the middle,
such a force in the middle.
Like you said,
it makes the edge guys a job's a lot easier
in the run game
and in the past game.
All the attention is going to him
and it allows us up to,
you know,
do a lot of different things.
And, you know,
he covers up a lot of different mistakes
that people will make.
And, you know,
he's just like the race strip
and I'm so happy to have him
and we're going to continue
playing like he is going down
and stretch.
you've been here for Kobe Bryant's like resurgence.
You know what I mean?
His adjustment, his draft, and then his change to safety now.
And he's starting to really turn it up a notch.
You know, a big, huge interception against Arizona last week.
He had one in an Atlantic game as well.
He just seems to be playing with a lot more confident.
And then every time you look up, Devin Witherspoon is somewhere,
somewhere calls in havoc.
What do you think you were about to bring to this defense?
Because you've obviously been the most consistent pass,
the best defensive playmaker before you got hurt.
Coming back in, how excited are you to just get back out there
and immediately make an impact in a huge game?
Yeah, I'm hungry.
You know, what bigger stage should do
with Sunday night football when the world's watching, you know?
So, you know, I'm ready to go out there
and bring my playmaking skills that I know I can bring out there
and continue to help his defense win.
You know, we're deep on the D-line
and just adding an extra value like myself back in that rotation
that's going to be able to cause habit for offensive.
and, you know, offensive coaches and, you know,
quarterback.
So I'm just ready to go out there and contribute.
It's right on time.
It's right on time.
Now, I'm going to take you back because you just brought up SC and, you know,
our whole Pac-12 is gone now.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, that's a whole story for a different day.
But what's wrong with SC?
Because it's disappointing, man, that's some LA kids.
Like, I don't, you know, you know, y'all let me down.
You know, I know, I know Stanford.
We're going to struggle.
You know, we have a hard enough time when it was directly.
NCAA. Now they're paying kids.
We can't keep nobody. But y'all,
y'all supposed to be holding it down.
Yeah. I'm just as
confused as you in the rest of the world. I don't know
what's going on. They had, I think, Kable's
first year, I think they went like 11 and 3 or something
like that, but still it was disappointing because you know
this standard. When you get, you know, a guy
like that, coach like that, quarterback like that,
the college playoffs, you know, at least.
You know, and not to see that happen.
You know, these are the last, what, three seasons
now is just very disappointing.
And I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know what's going on over there.
Hopefully they can see, you know,
get some more players next year in the portal
and, you know, try to build from there, but we'll see.
It's such a different landscape in college right now, man.
Could you imagine playing in that and you getting paid
and you get to tell coach, hey, hey, boys is telling coaches,
hey, y'all didn't, my check didn't clear this week.
I ain't brights in the day.
Y'all let me know when my check clear and I'll be out there.
Like, it's just silly.
Yeah, silly.
I totally again.
You know, when we played, it was for the love of the,
game. You know, we wanted to be able to play on Sundays. You know, we wanted to go out there
and make a name for ourselves. But now, you know, kids are, who's paying me the most money?
You know, I'll transfer here because they'll pay me some more money. You know, I'll say,
I'm not going to go to the leagues and I'm going to try to make some more money here, which is fine.
I understand that. But at the end of the day, the goal was always to play on Sunday nights.
The DeLy lineman from SC, Bear, uh, I can't, my God, the Bear Alexander. Like,
it transferred again. They said the boy didn't been the, four.
different high schools in high school, and now you're going on a third different college.
I'm like, at some point, like, you're going to have a hard time getting drafted because the
team that drafts, you're going to be like, you can't, you can't leave.
You didn't stay nowhere more than a year.
Like, they can't trust you.
They can't trust you.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers,

We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We've created our own podcast.
called Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys were.
remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say,
Hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Absolutely.

Thank you.
You obviously had your, you've had a tremendous impact.
Tell me how much, you know, we're giving back to the community and being able to help those.
that are less fortunate than yourself means to you?
It means a lot.
You know, growing up, I didn't really have, you know, those resources
or, you know, guys come back and talk to me and give back
and do things in the community for me.
So I always knew if I was in a position to be able to give back.
That's one thing I would do.
Whether that's to the local community, whether that's to my high school,
whether that's here in Seattle.
You know, I've always tried to make it a point to wherever I am,
try to help somebody you need, especially the youth.
I feel like the next generation is, you know,
going to be able to shape this world.
So why not start there?
and just work my way up.
So anyway, I can give back to the kids, get back to the youth, any way possible.
That's what I'm about.
That's good, man.
It's always the best feeling to be able to give back, you know, as a kid,
I grew up in a tough neighborhood, and you just, you really understand the impact
that one person telling you that you matter means, you know, just telling you you,
you matter, just telling you, like, you got a chance that you're special.
And, you know, I had a number of high school coaches that I would attribute that to
that really, I feel like unlock my potential.
they were the ones that told me like, man, I see something special in you.
And then you feel like you got to do everything in your power to make them right.
So just know that your impact is reaching kids, you know, even the kids you probably have never seen, you know,
it's having a tremendous positive impact.
Right.
So what's the next thing?
I always want to want to ask you this.
Why 10?
I don't know.
I just want something changed, you know, coming from all the team.
You know, I was like, you know, let me get a fresh start, you know, new team, new environment.
Let me just try something different.
I was like, I always wanted, I wanted number seven, but Gino had it.
That was my number of high school.
So I was like, you know what 10?
10 sounds pretty cool.
I'll take that.
Right, right, right, right, because you're a 10-sac guy.
Yes.
Plus, you know, 10-sac plus.
I don't want to disrespect nobody.
That's cool.
I thought it was going to be some crazy story.
Like, people always ask me, why you pick number 25?
And, like, I had some crazy cool story to it.
And I was just like, well, when I got drafted, they had one 20 number open and I wasn't
wearing 30.
I was not about to wear no 30.
They gave me 30 to begin with,
and then they drafted Mark Legree,
like two picks later,
and they gave him 25.
I called E.K. so quick, I said, hey,
I got drafted higher, right?
He said, yeah.
I say, yeah, give me 25.
Get him 30.
And he's walking out there with 30 getting cooked.
No, no offense to everybody that wears 30,
but it's tough out there wearing 30.
Just y'all know y'all get a few extra targets every game,
because y'all got 30 on.
So what's your expectations for yourself?
You know, obviously we're at a later part of the season,
but you're coming in with fresher legs, you know, fresh legs.
What expectations do you have for yourself at this point of the season?
The team, I know playoff aspirations, you know,
winning in the division gives you a home game in front of the 12s,
and you've come a long way since playing in,
what were they calling that stadium now?
Because it was sub-hub.
I think it's still stuff up.
Right.
Well, nobody playing it, no,
so we ain't paying intentional.
But you go from playing in that stadium
to playing one of the loudest stadiums in sports.
How different is that for you?
Yeah.
That's the first part of your question, man.
It's been a long season.
You know, I've dealt with a lot of adversity
over the really the last year.
So my main goal is just to make it
through the rest of the season healthy,
you know, God willing.
And just do my best to get back to where I,
you know, what I know,
could be. And that's play making and making plays on that field. You know, so that's definitely my
goal no matter how it is in the run game, past game, supporting the teammates, whatever it may be.
That's just my number one goal. And yeah, being able to play in front of these crowds, this crowd is
insane. You know, that's really our secret weapon, you know, you've been the best of the best.
So just being able to get back in that crowd behind you and then, you know, just feeding all
them to be able to go out there and have fun and make plays, you know, that's what it's all about.
And I can't wait for that this Sunday night.
Yeah, oh, it's going to be, they're going to be rocking in there.
Sunday night. And, you know, as a D-Liman, it's always fun because they got to go silent,
count everything. So you just got to watch the ball at that point. It's his ears back. They're going
to be great for that. They're great in playoff games. We've had many games where, you know,
stadium's rocking and shaking and all that. And people are like, you must love that as a defender.
I'm like, I mean, sometimes, but you can't talk either. You can't communicate nothing.
Nope. And then they'd be like, why did y'all have that bust? It's because I was trying to tell,
him to switch. He couldn't hear me. And we're looking at each other and they snapped the ball.
Yeah. But it's more positive than negative. Definitely. 100%. So I want to know, because I don't sit in the
locker room, I don't sit in the meetings. How is Mike McDonald in these meetings? How is he?
Because we had y'all at Thursday night and it just seemed like he was just so dejected after
San Francisco 49ers lost that Thursday night. And then y'all come out of Dubai and he is a totally
different guy. It's such a
turnaround and it seems like
whatever he said to the guys, whatever he did
during a buy and he made some moves
roster-wise, but
it just seems like schematically
they're playing better offensively.
They're playing better. The offensive line
is playing better. A few
changes. Obviously Abraham
Lucas brings a different element to that offensive
line than they had before.
But what has changed
so much?
Yeah. Mike should be a great leader,
You know, it's coming a long way from, you know,
training camp when we first met him to now, you know,
we're starting to get more accustomed to him
and how his style is and everybody loves it.
You know, it's kind of like, it's kind of like,
Mark's funny, man.
He tries to be funny, but it's like kind of cornyish.
But we all love it, though, because that's just who he is, you know?
So if he plays him, he says, you get some great half-ups,
he just, I didn't go lie, man.
He didn't try to get those guys fired up in the locker room.
And he just, it's just, like, so smart.
You know, he just believes in everybody,
constantly encourage everybody shows us,
reminds us what it looks like
when we've done it before.
You know, you also have to keep guys positive
and keep guys fired up.
And he's so smart.
Coming up with different tactics,
way to win,
you can see he actually cares and he tries
and all the coach staff putting in a lot of effort.
So that's all going on into it.
And they made a big change in the by season,
in the by weekend,
and the message is carried on so far.
It's carried on.
And y'all look really good.
You've got a lot of young talent,
a lot of guys stepping up.
And to get you back at this point of the season,
it's like a whole other big,
big time free agent signing, you know, mid-season.
Like, you're about to bring an incredible element to this defense.
I'm excited to see it.
I wonder, I wonder.
What's been the toughest, like, offensive line matchup that you've had in your career?
Like, the toughest that you've had to deal with were you like after the game?
You were like, ah, I don't want to have a city of dude again.
I'll probably say, well, I'll probably see the toughest matchup I've had in my career.
I'll probably say Trent Williams, man.
He's a dog.
He's tough to beat, man.
He's really smart, athletic, and strong.
He just has been in the league for so long
that he has all those vet moves and stuff.
So, you know, it's always a good match of going up against him
because, you know, I know how to get him sometimes
and more times or not, he's probably going to win,
but I always, you know, give him my best with him.
And he gives me a good challenge
and it makes me continue to be a better player,
you know, going up against guys like that.
So that's probably like my favorite matchup, you know,
going on, looking forward to the drought of the years.
Yeah, I mean, he's one of the best to ever play.
So I'm not mad at it.
that that's one of the, he's a behemoth of a man.
You hear about all the accolades.
And to hear from you, it's, it's an incredible challenge.
But I've seen you beat him.
So that has to feel good, too.
I'm just happy you back, man.
I'm happy to see you back on that field after this injury.
Happy that you're going to make a positive impact on this team.
And happy to see all the great things you're doing for the community, brother.
Absolutely.
Thank you.
Yeah, no problem.
No problem.
Well, I won't hold you up.
I know you got to get more rehab to do.
do and more things to do with you off day.
I really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to spend time with me
and to have this conversation.
I look forward to seeing you out on that field and we'll have another conversation
before y'all hit those playoffs.
All right, sir, I appreciate you.
All right, babe.
Appreciate you.
The volume.
Hey, guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers.
I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it out.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions
because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it,
but, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy,
not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day
and head writer,
Greeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
And nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo.
In every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments
in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves.
Their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear.
Listen to SportsSlice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashed.
human potential. Either way,
the podcast's Superhuman documented
it all, embedded in the games
and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days,
I'd put on 10 pounds. I was
having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

with your favorite therapist and host care games.
This space is about black
men's experiences, having

the world that you not to be played with. And just because you have the capability that does
not mean that you need to, listen to learn the hard way on the IHard radio app, Apple Podcast,
