Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
Starting point is 00:00:45 This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. Help an Acapella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
Starting point is 00:01:08 It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:33 Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves,
Starting point is 00:01:54 their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to SportsSlice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slicalife-Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Winning on Clay is an art. The rallies are relentless,
Starting point is 00:02:12 and at the French Open, only the toughest survive. I'd know. I competed there for decades. Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no-nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris.
Starting point is 00:02:25 Jen, she'll win. She's an outsider to win the French name. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lernerabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any surface. Listen to the Renee Stub's tennis podcast on the IHart Radio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHart Women's Sports.
Starting point is 00:02:46 The volume. You know this, sir. You're all for these. Super Bowl. Championship. That should always be the expectation. All right, man. That's going here.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Welcome back. Back to the Richard Sherman podcast. We have an incredible guest today. Eugene, Cyril Smith, the second. What I don't realize is a lot of your teammates didn't even know your real name. I was like, they did like a little questionnaire early in training camp, and dudes were like, wait, who's, what is Gino's real name? And I was like, got to let the people know. Yeah, the third, the third, by the way.
Starting point is 00:03:29 The third? The third. Yeah. Yeah. I got it over. No, yeah, my lockers actually, yeah, I made him put Eugene Smith, so my teammates could know my real name. I love it.
Starting point is 00:03:42 I love it. Well, you got to walk me through that last drive. You just went in God mode and took over that game with your legs, with your arm. You were seven for eight passing and then close that one out. And then hit the Steph Curry. You was in his own. Yeah, man. You know, our team was playing so well going throughout the game.
Starting point is 00:04:02 You know what I mean? I just felt like we had to get it done. And I was actually just smiling as I was running on the field for that last drive. I mean, I just kind of knew it. I knew we were going to win. Somewhere in the third quarter, I had looked over to their bench and I saw KJ standing over there.
Starting point is 00:04:16 I was like, what the, you know what I mean? I'm like, man, we got to beat these boys. I saw KJ. It just kind of pissed me off a little bit. He's a Seahawk, man. He shouldn't have those colors on. But, yeah, the O-line played great. I thought the defense played phenomenal yesterday, man.
Starting point is 00:04:28 They kept us in the game. They made some big kicks. and then I was able to, you know, go out there and we were able to punch it in at the end. We needed it. How was, because you, your growth and your ascension, I mean, it's going to be books and dissertations written on development of just quarterbacks and just staying with it. Your resilience, your consistency, persistence, and the ability to almost have like a second career within your career. Can you talk to me just about because that's been such a big conversation. in the NFL this year with all these young guys playing and some of them struggling and guys calling them bust four or five games into their dang careers.
Starting point is 00:05:09 I mean, you are somebody who's dealt with it personally and being able to come out and blossom into the pro bowl player you are now. Can you talk to that? Yeah, and I did it in the biggest media market there is in New York. A lot of times, you know, for young guys, you get labeled. And that's the worst thing that can happen for anybody is when they put a label on you. It come with all these negative connotations. And so, you know, what you have to do is you got to stick to your process. You got to be, you know, really steadfast in your belief in yourself.
Starting point is 00:05:37 And then obviously it takes a ton of hard work. It's not easy. You know, this stuff takes hard work. I was just in the weight room, you know, working on myself and getting myself prepared. There's a process to it. Quarterbacking is more of a skill than it is a talent. A lot of guys in the league can play on talent. When you play quarterback and you play it at the highest level,
Starting point is 00:05:56 you have to develop the skill. And there's a lot of nuances to that. But, you know, it takes experience. It takes time. You've got to give these guys grace. Greg Olson, I think it was on the broadcast. It said you're one of the best armed talents and most accurate passers in the NFL. And you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:06:12 Not that his word means anything, but it just feels good to just hear somebody talk about what an immense talent you are. Because everybody talks about the feel good story. Like you just some feel good like, like, nah, nah, this ain't no like feel good. This dude is a talented. human being. That's why he's in a position. That's why he broke all those records in college. So talk about how good it feels to just see all the hard work culminate and your talent blossom and also be appreciated in Seattle. You know, it means the world to me, and it's why I work as hard as I do. Just the organization having faith in me, Coach Carroll, you know, having faith
Starting point is 00:06:50 to me, John Snyder, having faith in me, where not many people did. And for them to recognize the talent, for them to evaluate me and to see, hey, this guy I can do it. and to put that trust in me. And then, you know, obviously for all the fans and everybody like yourself to get behind me and just give me that confidence I needed it. It, you know, it makes me feel great. And then, you know, G.O. Greg's my guy, man. He and I had a hell of a day.
Starting point is 00:07:11 He'll all tell this story for the rest of his life. But we had a day in practice where we went off, man. I was on a scout team quarterback, and he was playing a scout team tight-in. And he might have had like 200 yards that day. You know, that's why he always tells that story. And, you know, I believe in myself. I believe in my arm talent. I believe in my accuracy.
Starting point is 00:07:28 I think that's shown on the tape. But most importantly, man, just the opportunity is what matters to me. I mean, you could show a highlight reel of some of the posts that you've thrown. And, I mean, just dimes drops in a bucket. I mean, go route. And to a new emerging talent, obviously everybody knows how talent hit JSN is and was. You know, that's why he drafted him so high. But in the last few weeks, it just seems like you guys' connection has really, really solid.
Starting point is 00:07:57 five. You know, DK.B.N. out probably help, you know, you had to rely on him a little bit more, but he's been really consistent. Yeah, he's, he's blossomed, man. He's coming to his own right now. And, you know, the best thing about him is, how tough he is, man, like to play in that slot, you know, you got to go up against linebackers, you got to save these guards, you some time corners, and you got to be tough. I mean, you're going to probably, you know, take a couple hits here and and there and got to keep getting up. And I think just his fight overall, just the way that he fights throughout the game. He's a smart player. He's talented. Shoot, we got so many great guys, man. Even, you know, I feel like T. Locke, man, just,
Starting point is 00:08:31 you know, how legendary he is, it always, like, just goes under the radar. But, like, just all the things that Lockett has done from his, in his career here and who he is now, man, it just makes Jackson's job that much easier. Yeah, I mean, T. Locke is just funny because he talks about being the old man. And I just remember his rookie year when we drafted him and him coming in. And, you know, he had maybe three moves, three releases to his name. And I used to just be like, hey, hey, we got to work on this. We got to work on this.
Starting point is 00:09:01 You ain't going to be. And I always told him, I was like, look, dealing with me is going to be a lot harder than everybody else you deal with. I know you, you're going to be like my little brother. I study every move you make. I watch your film religiously because I got to make sure you never beat me. These other dudes ain't going to be able to do you like this. Yes, sir.
Starting point is 00:09:18 And that stuff paid off for him. He always speaks about you and Doug and just how you're all, you know, we're big brothers to him. That's why he's the guy he is, man. Great leadership. Yeah, he's an all-time great. And then D.K. I mean, did you see that picture they posted on Twitter?
Starting point is 00:09:34 Which one? I didn't see it. I didn't see it. I said, why is it all a U-3? I think the Seahawks might have tweeted it. And then it was like we solemnly swear that we are up to no good. And it was Lockett, DK, J.S. I said, y'all folks are sick, but I love it.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Yeah. I love it, man. And D.K., man, like, just coming back after the injury and then playing the way he played, man, like, you can tell, man. They don't want to guard him out there, man. He's such a physical specimen, man. Guys are out there scared of him. Yeah, he's an alien. And he mean.
Starting point is 00:10:04 And he mean. I played against him when he was a rook, and he tried to bullyball me. I said, hey, I'm a grown man now, D.K. now. Like, I like the spirit. Yeah. Talk about his attitude because I don't really like how people talk about him. You know what I mean? Because he gets frustrated and he goes on his stuff.
Starting point is 00:10:23 But I think it's just like Dan's used to be. You know what I mean? Some guys just care. They want to win. They want to win more than anything. He's not like, oh, I'm being selfish. Give me the ball. It's like, I want to win.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Yeah. And that's who he is, man. Like he's a competitor. You got to think, man. His dad was office alignment. So all that stuff, that bully ball, that's in him. Like, he was bred that way. And yeah, he wants to win so badly.
Starting point is 00:10:46 He does all the little things. Like, people don't realize how hard this man works. and just the hours that he puts in and to come back from that injury, you know, in two weeks and to go out and play the way that he did, man. Like, that takes a special player and a special person. And he's a leader, you know what I'm saying, in this locker room.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Like, he's always saying the right things and doing the right things. And that's why he is, in my opinion, top five or one of the best receivers in the game. Did you ever talk to him about that? Man, if you see it, like, once K9 scored, he hit him with, like, the two small celebration. And, yeah, man, he did it on purpose.
Starting point is 00:13:55 Like, he just, I'm like, man, this dudes out here trolling people, like, in real time, midgame. I'm like, man, that's different. That's totally different. That's totally different. Well, you know what else is different? You're such an incredible, like, amazing, humble dude, leader. but Twitter, Gino, a little different. Twitter Gino is a little different, and I like it.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Yeah, man, I like to have some fun. You know, I like to have some fun. It's all within the, you know, the construct of the game, man. I just like to have fun. And we all talk a little crap from time to time. Look, you preach into the choir here, man. Yep, yep, yep. So you have retweeted Diomador Lenore's tweet from a couple years ago,
Starting point is 00:14:34 and I just love the pettiness level of it. I just love it. Yeah, I mean, we had to. man we had to he uh i do respect this game i think he's a really good player he's a young player who's doing some great things but man he talks a lot of stuff out there but that's that's what rivalries are that's what rivalries are you're supposed to make it spicy you know it just shows you care that's what it felt it felt like one of those old rivalries man like we're out there ready to throw fists man like it was just one of those games where we we know what's at stake they know what's at stake they know us we know
Starting point is 00:15:04 them and it's gonna come down to you know a last last play of the game type deal well speaking of coming down to to the wire. I mean, it looks like this NFC West is just tied and knots. Everybody's right there. You guys are five and five. The San Francisco 49ers five and five. The Cardinals are six and four. I think the Rams are maybe five and five. What's, what's it going to take? Because I know at times this season it's felt like, you know, at least from the fans perspective, they're like, all is lost. They lost a couple games. And then they went, you guys win a game. And they're like, well, we're going to the Super Bowl. It's like, how is the season felt inside the building? It's felt business as usual.
Starting point is 00:15:41 We understand we're on a mission and there's a process to it. This is Coach McDonald's first year as a head coach, and that's not to make an excuse, but there's a lot of things that we have to learn together. And like you said, man, it's going to be a race to the finish. You know, we got seven games left. You know, everyone in our division is pretty much have, you know, the same record. And we're going to have to play these guys, you know, at least once or twice. So, you know, this seven game stretch is going to feel like each game is going to be a playoff.
Starting point is 00:16:08 game, which is good. It's going to prepare us for these moments and for the playoffs. And so we're taking one game at a time. I'm treating it like a playoff game. Every division game is going to be that much more important. And we got to go out there. We got to make it happen. You know, we get a home game this week.
Starting point is 00:16:23 I expect the crowd to be loud and get into it. You know, our fans, we love them and they support us always. So it's time. You know, it's time for us to get rolling. It's definitely time. Can you talk about the relationship, you know, obviously you're the quarterback. So dealing with offensive coordinator.
Starting point is 00:16:38 you guys are probably, you know, 23 hours a day, you know, back and forth. What is your relationship with, like, with Ryan Grubb? And how different is it? Because he came from college and didn't, had never coordinated an NFL offense. Did you feel like there was a difference there? Or was it, was it business as usual? Because it seemed like y'all were running like a little bit of hurry up, like college style. Y'all jump in and jump out of hurry up.
Starting point is 00:17:01 Was that his influence or something you wanted to do? Yeah, that's what they did at Washington, pretty much wherever he's been. He's had a good tempo package and he's had a way for really just to give the quarterback answers. You want to have answers to the test out there at quarterback and you want to be able to process things quickly. You know, you only got a certain amount of time. So when you get in certain formations or you do a shift or emotion, the defense has to react a certain way, which will give you a certain tail. And, you know, what Grub does is he allows us as quarterbacks to get up to the line of scrimmage, see the defense, call a play that we like, and allow the playmakers go out there and make plays. I think there's adjustments that he's making, obviously, going from college to the pros.
Starting point is 00:17:41 The possessions are less. You know, get 90 plays. We get about 60 on average. You know, so that heightens, you know, each down is that much more important. And so you got to be, you know, picky in your spots of when you want to do certain things, when you want to tempo. You can't go tempo all the time. You know, you need your defense to get rest. You don't want them, you know, on the field the entire game.
Starting point is 00:18:01 So just figuring out those things and working out things. I think we're doing a great job at that. And his communication has been great. That's awesome. That's awesome. What were, if any, the adjustments during the buy week, because obviously from the outside looking in, we're not in the building. I'm not in the building. I got people I talk to. But when you hear the Connor Williams news, you know, you hear the leading tackler on defense gets cut, gets released, and they trade for Ernest Johnson, I mean, Ernest Jones a few weeks ago. What are the thoughts going to your, because the Connor Williams stuff seemed, the rest of it kind of made sense. you know, obviously Mike explained it, but the Connor Williams stuff kind of caught me by surprise, at least. And, you know, rarely do you ever hear about a player retiring in the middle season. Obviously, Vante Davis, RIP, you know, that mid-game retirement was crazy.
Starting point is 00:18:53 But the Connor Williams news just seemed odd. He's 27. He's young dude, you know, even when you're struggling sometimes, you know, everybody goes through their slumps and, you know, ups and downs and football. But that just seemed odd. Yeah, I think more for Connor, man, like, you know, mental health, and we always talk about this, but it's, it's the most important thing. It's, it's number one on our priority list. And Conner's our brother, and it was hurting, man. I want to go into too much depth, but that was the decision that he felt he needed to make. He called me, and we talked about it, and I told him that I would support him and whatever he did. And, you know, I appreciate his hard work and everything that he's done for protecting me and, you know, just going to practice every day and laying in it. it on the line. And so, you know, when guys make those type of decisions, yeah, I mean, it sucks in the moment, you know, and you want to feel, I feel for those guys because I know how much of a struggle it could be and how tough things are. But we got to keep it rolling. We got to keep
Starting point is 00:19:50 going. You know, we're on the mission. And it's always next man up. And I thought Olu stepped in and did a great job. I thought so, too. Another addition that you got to your offensive line, Abe Lucas is back. And, you know, that had to be, you know, feel good to get him back. There's obviously been rotation, some injuries at the right tackle position. But talk about how cool of a player he is. Because, I mean, during his rookie year, him and Cross were really like the Bash brothers out there. And I was really impressed with him. Yeah, I think, A, man, like, because he's missed so much time, people kind of forget just how much of a impact he has on the offense and how much of a factor he is in games. You can see him out there going one-on-one with Bosa. And I mean,
Starting point is 00:20:32 you know, he's, he's so big and strong, man. He's a physical player and he's athletic, like a gentle giant. Almost like, we call him a human Viking because just the way he is. But, like, I mean, he's a massive dude out there. So when he's out there anchoring, man, like, it's hard on those guys. And I thought Mike Jarrell stepped in and played a great game as well, man, like to be undrafted and to be thrust into this, you know, role and this opportunity, he might have not have expected it, but he's out there, he's battling and he's competing.
Starting point is 00:20:58 He helped us get that win. No question, no question. And speaking of Bosa, when he went out with an injury, it just seemed like the offense ignited. You know, did you sense a difference or did you guys talk about that at all on the sideline? Because it just seemed like things started really rolling once he went out the game. Yeah, I think, you know, for the most part, we were moving the ball, even when he was in there. But, you know, he's such a great player. He just makes those one or two, you know, impact plays, you know, gets the sack here and there,
Starting point is 00:21:24 push you behind the chains. And that's when it gets, you know, tough on you. And, you know, I think, obviously, when he's out of the game, you know, that, that it's not the same impact. I mean, it's just the reality of it. But however it went, if he was in there, he was out, we were going to find a way to win. We had it on our minds.
Starting point is 00:21:40 It was, you know, our mindset was like, no matter what we got to do, we got to win. And unfortunately for him, you know, he got injured, you know, hoped the best for him. But we need, it was right on time for us. Yeah, right on time for us. Can you talk about the secondary play? You know, Devin Witherspoon was playing incredible.
Starting point is 00:21:58 Obviously, he had the tipped interception to Hankins. but it just overall, it just seemed Kobe Bryant, all those guys are, you know, Julian Love, they're all playing at a really high level and within Mike McDonald's scheme, especially this game. I mean, it just looked like the windows were tight. They were, they were swarming, they were running well, they were covering well. What did you think of them? Now, I thought the defense played phenomenal. I thought the secondary was outstanding, man. I know they held Debo and checked. I thought Jennings, you know, he had a pretty nice day, but for the most part, they were on him too. And I mean, those guys, you can see like Spoon,
Starting point is 00:22:31 the way he's leading the group, his second year, but I see him involving. Like, he's really stepping into, like, who he's going to be in this league and playing in the nickel. He's playing outside. He's doing it all, man. And then Jay Love is, like, the big brother out there, like, you know, the adult in the room. And he's always, always in the right spots, man. He's, you know, he's making checks and communicating well.
Starting point is 00:22:54 And then, you know, you got to think about adding earnest to the mix. I mean, Ernest stepping in there doing what he's doing. I think it all works well. The past rush was there. everything like just complimented each other and I thought they did a great job, man, they held them in check. Whether you're ordering wings for the game,

Starting point is 00:23:34 Terms and conditions apply. See App for details. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast?
Starting point is 00:23:48 Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
Starting point is 00:24:26 and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio. app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. Help an Acapella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:25:02 humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Starting point is 00:26:32 tests in tennis, and I know firsthand because I competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris, every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay. Jenchian win. I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lerna Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now, and I actually can win on
Starting point is 00:27:01 any surface because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Okay, now the stuff that nobody wants to talk about, but old Shirm, and even Gino's not going to answer his question great because he's such a great politician. in this, but they got to pay you your money.
Starting point is 00:27:34 I mean, Daniel Jones just went on the bench getting $40 million, and people was arguing about the $30 million you was getting. You know, now quarterback, DAC just got 60, you know, I don't even know why I'm wasted by time asking this question because I know what you're going to say. There you go. Hey, sure, man, you know how this. I mean, you got to earn it, man. Like, everything I ever got in my life I earned.
Starting point is 00:28:00 and I'm okay with earning whatever, you know, whatever guy has for me, man, I'm willing to go earn it. And so how do I feel about myself? Yeah, I feel like I'm up there with the top-jury quarterbacks. My number speak for me. My film says it too. But the main thing I'm trying to do is win these next seven games. I could, you know, after that, we'll figure everything else out wherever. I'll be playing football until I'm 40s.
Starting point is 00:28:22 So, you know, I'm not retiring after next year. So I'll be playing. I'll keep getting better. And I love Seattle, but, you know, we got to win these next seven games. Well, I'm going to speak for you, Gito. It's Seattle. He paid a man his money, you know, so he can be here for the foreseeable future. He's not getting no high draft pick why he here because he's playing too well.
Starting point is 00:28:42 So you might as well appreciate him why he here, pay him his money so he can continue to lead these men. They respect him, they love him. He's doing an amazing job. Pay him his money. And then maybe get him an offensive lineman or toward the draft. But that's a story for a different day. I'm just here. Hey, I got to get.
Starting point is 00:28:59 You might be my agent, man. We got to talk after this, man. We got to figure that out. I'm happy to be your spokesman, Ben. I'm happy to be your spokesman. Yes, sir. What else are you doing outside of football? Let's talk about the outside life of, you know, whether it's investments, whether your hobbies,
Starting point is 00:29:16 because people think we're just football players. And after that, we just turn our lives off and we just reset back on and go play football. And then we turn everything off. But that's not how it works. Yeah, I mean, I'm very active in my community back home in the South Florida. in Miami, Florida, you know, I lend a lot of my time to the youth, to the kids. My mom, she has a foundation and it's called Parents Without Partners, where she helps single parents and new mothers and stuff like that,
Starting point is 00:29:43 you know, just kind of get on their feet. She helps me with job applications and such. And for me, man, like, just, I mean, I'm a big brother. You know, I'm the oldest in my family. And so, like, just taking care of my family is, like, my main thing, because my community is, like, the biggest thing for me. and just being active and being present, you know, back home as well as here in Seattle. We got a Thanksgiving drive coming up soon, Christmas Drive.
Starting point is 00:30:04 We'll be at Seattle Children's. And then, you know, my free time, man, I'm hanging out with my son, hanging out with the boys, pooping, you know what I mean, doing regular old 30-year-old man stuff, you know, just, you know, living life, man. We live in a dream. I love it. I love it. Are you going, after you done at age 45, are you going to coach your son?
Starting point is 00:30:23 I'm coaching them now. You know, I've been coaching for a while, actually. I was a backup. I was able to coach a couple of my little league team. And now these guys are freshmen in high school now. And they're just out there bawling out. Shout out to Jeremiah Smith, my little cousin. You know, all those guys, man, Joe Joe out down at U.M, chance down the U.M.
Starting point is 00:30:41 You know, C.J. Bailey, freshman quarterback at NC State. We got a lot of – we got Darius Giles freshman running back in North Carolina. We got a program. Hey, bring them down there. Now we got a program, man. But, yeah, I'll be coaching, man. I'll be coaching. I love this game.
Starting point is 00:30:53 And I'll be in it for the rest of my life. Do you think you have ambitions of being like a coordinator? Because it seems like a lot of quarterbacks are starting to go into coordinator roles after they've done. Obviously, O'Connell was the biggest one right now that I can think of. But a lot of quarterbacks are, you know, your understanding of the game is just different than everybody else's. Yeah, I feel like I can be a coordinator right now, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:31:16 Probably a head coach. Definitely in college. You know, the pros, I don't know. But I know that, you know, I could call plays right now. I've got enough experience. I've seen enough of the game. I know the direction of where the game's going. I know what they're trying to do now.
Starting point is 00:31:28 And there's ways to counter all these things. And you've got to build a system for your quarterback. And I think that would be the hardest part is just developing that, developing players and communication and all that. But as far as X's and O's go, I think I'm pretty good with that. Yeah, I think so too. And that's showing on the football field. And like I always say, when we get back on here every week,
Starting point is 00:31:48 you know, I mean, you know offense to the offensive line, love you guys, you guys doing a great job. You guys did a solid job last week. But, you know, some of these games, I see you get hit 12, 13, 14 times, you know, people at your feet and you're still delivering from weird arm angles, weird foot angles, your footwork ain't where it need to be because you got people diving at your feet and you still dropping dimes. Like, it just seems like no matter what the circumstances are, you don't make excuses, you don't complain, you don't blame nobody, you take all the accountability. And I'll tell you, as a fan, as somebody who's been a part of the game and part of NFL, I got a lot of respect for that. I got a lot of respect for how you approach the game and how you've elevated it. Yeah, I think that's the best way, man.
Starting point is 00:32:30 You just got to, you know, if you really want to be great, if you want to be your best self, you got to eliminate all distractions and all excuses. And there can, you know, be many reasons for, you know, why you don't do something well. But, you know, if you internalize it and you figure it out yourself and you try to say, how can I get better? It just makes you a better player. And I've gained a lot of experience this year. The guys that we're playing with, they're doing a great job.
Starting point is 00:32:52 And, you know, as long as we win, man, I don't care how it goes. We just got to figure it up. You've become such a pocket passer. It's almost like they surprise that you get out there and take off on them every now and then. But it seems like a little part of you. There's been some games at home where you've taken off where I'm like, he's taking surprise to showing these boys like, hey, I still got it. I still got these legs.
Starting point is 00:33:14 I got to pick and choose my spots, man. I can't do it all game. You know, I'm 34. I can't just be out there running around them. Hammy started to start burning. but I pick my spots and, you know, if there's a chance for me to get out and threaten the defense with my legs, man, you know how hard it is, you know, obviously to cover these guys. And then once you cover a guy, the quarterback's running, it just pisses those guys off. So the more I can do it, yeah, the more I can do it, the better will be on offense.
Starting point is 00:33:38 No question. Well, I don't want to take too much more your time. I notice y'all bad. I really appreciate all the time. If you got any questions for me, I'm happy to answer them. But I really appreciate sincerely you taking out the time. You just played yesterday, had to travel back and do all that. And I'm taking you out of your routine.
Starting point is 00:33:55 So it's greatly appreciated. You're fine, brother. Agent Fees. We'll talk about that later, though. We'll talk about that later. I keep it low. Yes, sir, yes. All right, brother.
Starting point is 00:34:04 You have a beautiful day and a great week. And good luck this week, Mr. Carter. Yes, sir. You too, my brother. Appreciate you. The volume. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers.
Starting point is 00:34:35 I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:34:44 We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
